Reggae Night

Reggae Night
Composer(s): Amir S. Bayyan; La Toya Jackson
Performer(s): Jimmy Cliff; The Countdown Singers

Reggae night we come together when the feeling's right
Reggae night, and we'll be jammin 'till the morning light

Penny Reel just called, got to get my things, got to catch this ride
Gotta look my best because I know there'll be mashin' up tonight
Reggae night, we come together when the feeling's right
Reggae night, and we'll be jammin 'till the morning light

You will find it happens only once a year
So don't miss out on this session here

There'll be people comin' from the North and South and East and West
So you better look your best, man
Now, lightnin' strikes at 8, so you better not be late
For this rub-a-dubbin', rockin', jammin', fun, fun, lovin', yeah
Reggae night, we come together when the feeling's right,
Reggae night, and we'll be jammin 'till the morning light

You will find it happens only once a year
So take advantage of this festive cheer
Make we bring we family and let's tell some friends
And everyone will have a jam, jam, session

Oh oh oh raggae night, oh oh oh raggae night
oh oh oh raggae night, oh oh oh raggae night
oh oh oh raggae night, oh oh oh Keep on rockin'
Oh oh oh raggae night, oh oh oh raggae night
Reggae night, we come together when the feeling's right
Reggae night, and we'll be jammin 'till the morning light

The Nearness Of You

The Nearness Of You
Composer(s): Hoagy Carmichael - Ned Washington
First performance: Gladys Swarthout - 1938
Covered by multiple other artists

It's not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
It's just the nearness of you

It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
It's just the nearness of you

When you're in my arms and I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams came true

I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me the right
To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night the nearness of you

Ciao, Ciao Bambina

Ciao, Ciao Bambina
((Adapted from: Piove (Ciao Ciao Bambina) - 1959 (Domenico Modugno))
Composer(s): Domenico Modugno - Dino Verde - Jacques Larue
Performer(s): Dalida - 1959

Versions In Other Languages:
1959 - Ciao Ciao, Bambina (The Four Jacks)
1959 - Tschau, Tschau Bambina (Caterina Valente)

Tchao Tchao Bambina
Dis-moi je t'aime
Pour la dernière, dernière fois
Bientôt petite
Je vais te perdre
J'ai de la peine
Embrasse-moi
Tchao Tchao Bambina
Un jour on s'aime
Et l'on se quitte
L'amour c'est ça...
Dans tes yeux tristes
Tout le ciel pleure
Et moi je pleure
Pleure avec toi!

Tchao Tchao Bambina
Dis-moi je t'aime
Pour la dernière, dernière fois
Bientôt petite
Je vais te perdre
J'ai de la peine
Embrasse-moi
Tchao Tchao Bambina
Qui sait, ma route
Crois'ra la tienne
Peut-être un jour
Mais le ciel même
Ce soir en douce
Il pleure pleure
Sur notre amour!

The Navy Gets The Gravy, But The Army Gets The Beans

The Navy Gets The Gravy, But The Army Gets The Beans
Composer(s): Jerry Livingston - Mack David
Performer(s): Jerry Lewis

In the Navy they get steak, caviar and whipped cream cake
They have fancy cooks who know what cooking means
In the Army we get mess, and it really is a mess
Oh, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the beans
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
Send a salami, to your boy in the army
Yes, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the beans
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans beans
beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
Nothing but beans
Navy service is ideal, printed menus ev'ry meal
And they decorate your plate with parsley greens
In the Army we get chow that you wouldn't feed a Chow
Oh, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
Beautiful beans, gorgeous beans, succulent beans
Send a baloney `cause I'm skinny and boney
Yes, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, nothing but beans)
Loving those beans, loving those beans, liking those beans
Know what I mean, mammy I love you
Nothing but beans
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
Oh, I was born at the age of three, as might' as I could be
Sure it takes a great mentality to dish out all the
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
Oh, it seems bell bottomed pants are conducive to romance
They are wined and dined and loved by movie queens
But you wear a khaki frame and you get a wacky dame
Oh, the Navy gets the, the Army gets the
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
I hit the jackpot, but it's always a crackpot
Yes, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the beans
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
Did you know that the Navy gets all of the gravy
Did you know that the Army gets all of the beans
Oh, a soldier's a coward if he doesn't lick the platter clean
Oh, a soldier's a coward if he leaves a solitary bean
Oh, it isn't the fighting that will make a soldier cross and mean
It is only the beans!
You can grab a marine and you show him a bean
He says: "what does it mean, that I never have seen"
So you grab a civilian, and one in a million can identify
So I say to you: "why do we got to have beans?"
Multiple beans, ??? beans, succulent beans
Nothing but beans
(beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans
beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)

Covered by multiple other artists

Versions In Other Languages:
1967 - Cia Amore, Ciao (German Version) (Dalida)
1969 - Ciao Amore, Ciao (French Version) (Dalida)

La solita strada
Bianca come il sale
Il grano da crescere
I campi da anane
Guardare ogui giorno
Se piove o c'è il sole
Per saper se domani
Si vive o si innore
E un bel giorno dire basta e andare via

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao

Andare via lontano
Cercare un altro mondo
Dire addio al cortile
Andarsene sognando

E poi mille strade
Grige come il fumo
In un mondo di luci
Sentirsi nessuno
In un giorno solo
Soltare cent'anni

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao

Wie oft hab ich geweint
Und doch sind wir jetzt vereint

Das zählt fürs glück
Im grunde gar nicht viel

Ich möchte ein wort von dir
Sag ich geh nie fort von dir

The Naughty Little Flea

The Naughty Little Flea
Composer(s): Norman Thomas
Performer(s): Miriam Makeba
and multiple other artists

Where did the naughty little flea go
Nobody know, nobody know
Where did the naughty little flea go
Nobody know, nobody know

A naughty flea he came to town
Started searching up and down
Looking for a place to nest
Where he can get some food and rest

He saw a lady round and fat
He smiled a smile and tipped his hat
He said oh yes I’m goin’ have a ball
Man look at all that cholesterol

The naughty flea went to the beach
He saw such tasties in his reach
He said hurrah and thank you Lord
That’s what I call a small guest bug

The naughty flea went to the zoo
Saw a skunk and bit him too
He bit him in the usual place
And said Holy Macro what a taste

Sum up friends well can you see
The big advantage of being a flea
Just remember what ever you do
That what you bite is what you chew

Ein tag voller sonne
So hat es begonnen
Die nacht war voll tränen
Das glück ist zerronnen
Ich wollte ja bleiben
Ich lebe so gerne
Doch der Zug fahrt weiter
In die dunkle ferne
Und ich will leben, leben, leben
Schön ist die Liebe

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao

Einsam fliehen die tage
Ein traum verweht im winde
Einsam bleibt meine frage
Ob ich dich wiederfinde

Die glücklichen lieder
Die einst wir gesungen
Erklingen nie wieder
Das glas ist zersprungen

Ich suche vergebens
Wohin ich mich wende
Und der zug fahrt weiter
Ohne ziel, ohne ende
Doch ich will leben, leben, leben
Schön ist die liebe

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao

Einsam fliehen die tage

Einsam bleibt meine frage

Regardez Par Des Fenêtres

Regardez Par Des Fenêtres ((Adapted from: Look Through Any Window (by The Hollies) - 1965)) Composer(s): Graham Goldman - Charles Silverman Performer(s): The Hollies

Regardez par des fenêtres, yeah
Qu'est-ce que vous voyez?
Les visages des petits enfants
Jolis visages souriants

Jolis visages souriants

(Où est-ce qu'ils vont?)
Et sur leur chemin
Et sur leur chemin
Et sur leur chemin

Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane

Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane
Composer(s): Sid Tepper - Roy C. Bennett
Performer(s): The Ames Brothers; Dean Martin; Alma Cogan

The naughty lady of Shady Lane
Has hit the town like a bomb
The back-fence gossip ain't been this good
Since Mabel ran off with Tom
Our town was peaceful and quiet
Before she came on the scene
The lady has started a riot
Disturbin' the suburban routine

The naughty lady of Shady Lane has the town in a whirl
The naughty lady of Shady Lane
Me-oh, my-oh, what a girl

You should see how she carries on
With her admirers galore
She must be givin' them quite a thrill
The way they flock to her door
She throws those come-hither glances
At every Tom, Dick, and Joe
When offered some liquid refreshment
The lady never never says "no"

The naughty lady of Shady Lane has the town in a whirl
The naughty lady of Shady Lane
Me-oh, my-oh, what a girl

The things they're trying to pin on her
Won't hold much water, for sure
Beneath the powder and fancy lace
There beats a heart sweet and pure
She just needs someone to change her
And she'll be nice as can be
If you're in the neighborhood, stranger
You're welcome to drop in and see

The naughty lady of Shady Lane
So delightful to hold
The naughty lady of Shady Lane
So delectable
Quite respectable
And she's only Nine Days Old!!!

Ciao Amore, Ciao (Dalida) (French Version)

Ciao Amore, Ciao
((Adapted from: Ciao Amore, Ciao (Italian Version)(Luigi Tenco))
((German Version: Ciao Amore, Ciao (Dalida) - 1967))
Composer(s): Luigi Tenco - Pierre Delanoë
Performer(s): Dalida - 1969

Nous sommes deux ombres
Et deux solitudes
Un grand amour sombre
Dans les habitudes
Et l'on ose à peine
Rompre le silence
Mieux vaudrait la haine
Que l'indifférence
Mais je veux vivre vivre
Je veux qu'on m'aime

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao

Nous vivons dans du rose
Dans du gris monotone
J'ai besoin d'autre chose
Que d'un chat qui ronronne

Je veux voir le monde
Qu'il soit gai ou triste
Qu'il chante ou qu'il gronde
Pourvu qu'il existe
Je veux voir des villes
Qu'elles soient blanches ou rouges
Et des yeux qui brillent
Et des gens qui bougent
Moi je veux vivre vivre
Comme ceux qui s'aiment

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao

Je te laisse tes livres
La cloche de l'église
La tiédeur de vivre
Dans cette maison grise

Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao
Ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao amore, ciao

Ciao amore...

Regarde-Toi Paname

Regarde-Toi Paname
Composer(s): Pierre Frachet; Jean Ferrat
Performer(s): Jean Ferrat

Paname t'as perdu la main

The Narrow Way

The Narrow Way
Composer(s): David Gilmour
Performer(s): Pink Floyd

Following the path
As it leads towards the Darkness in the North
Weary strangers' faces show their sympathy
They've seen that hope before
And if you want to stay
For a little bit
Rest your aching limbs
For a little bit
Before you the night is beckoning
And you know you can't delay
You hear the night birds calling you
But you can't touch the restless sky
Close your aging eyes
Be on your way

Mist is swelling
Creatures crawling
Hear the roar get louder in your ears
You know the folly was your own
But the force behind can't conquer all your fears
And if you want to stay
For a little bit
Rest your aching limbs
For a little bit
Before you the night is beckoning
And you know you can't delay
You hear the night birds calling you
But you can't touch the restless sky
Close your aging eyes
Be on your way

Throw your thoughts back many years
To the time when there was life in every morning
Perhaps a day will come
When the nights will be as on that morning
And if you want to stay
For a little bit
Rest your aching limbs
For a little bit
Before you the night is beckoning
And you know you can't delay
You hear the night birds calling you
But you can't touch the restless sky
Close your aging eyes
Be on your way

Ciao

Ciao Composer(s): Lucio Dalla - Tullio Ferro Performer(s): Lucio Dalla

puttane e kossovari, poi altri tipi misti
contavano le stelle, le prime ad arrivare
poi la voce di una vecchia
che salutava tutti quanti dicendo ciao

Ciao
E’ la colpa di non so di chi

Ciao
E’ la colpa di non so di chi

Ciao

qualcun altro sta nascendo
è il gioco della vita
la dobbiamo preparare
che non ci sfugga dalle dita
come la sabbia in riva al mare

Ciao
E’ la colpa di non so di chi

Ciao
E’ la colpa di non so di chi

Ciao

Regarde-Toi

Regarde-Toi
Performer(s): Joe Dassin

Dis pourquoi
Tu baisses tes beaux yeux comme ça
Allons regarde-toi
Et ton miroir lui-même te le dira
Regarde-toi
Tu verras si tu es jolie
Dis pourquoi
Tes mains ne servent qu'à servir
Allons regarde-toi

Regarde-toi
C'est pas bientôt fini ces violons
Si j'étais toi
Je regarderais les beaux garçons
Dis pour toi
Je viendrais ici à genoux
Allons regarde-moi, regarde-moi

The Name Of The Game

The Name Of The Game
Composer(s): Stig Anderson - Benny Andersson - Björn Ulvaeus
First release by: ABBA - 1977
Covered by multiple other artists

I've seen you twice, in a short time
Only a week since we started
It seems to me, for every time
I'm getting more open-hearted

I was an impossible case
No-one ever could reach me
But I think I can see in your face
There's a lot you can teach me
So I wanna know...

What's the name of the game?
Does it mean anything to you?
What's the name of the game?
Can you feel it the way I do?
Tell me please, 'cause I have to know
I'm a bashful child, beginning to grow

And you make me talk
And you make me feel
And you make me show
What I'm trying to conceal
If I trust in you, would you let me down?
Would you laugh at me, if I said I care for you?
Could you feel the same way too?
I wanna know...

The name of the game

I have no friends, no-one to see
And I am never invited
Now I am here, talking to you
No wonder I get excited

Your smile, and the sound of your voice
And the way you see through me
Got a feeling, you give me no choice
But it means a lot to me
So I wanna know...

What's the name of the game?
(Your smile and the sound of your voice)
Does it mean anything to you?
(Got a feeling you give me no choice)
(But it means a lot)
What's the name of the game?
(Your smile and the sound of your voice)
Can you feel it the way I do?
Tell me please, 'cause I have to know
I'm a bashful child, beginning to grow

And you make me talk
And you make me feel
And you make me show
What I'm trying to conceal
If I trust in you, would you let me down?
Would you laugh at me, if I said I care for you?
Could you feel the same way too?
I wanna know...
Oh yes I wanna know...

The name of the game
(I was an impossible case)
Does it mean anything to you?
(But I think I can see in your face)
(That it means a lot)
What's the name of the game?
(Your smile and the sound of your voice)
Can you feel it the way I do?
(Got a feeling you give me no choice)
(But it means a lot)
What's the name of the game?

Ci Vorrebbe Un Amico

Ci Vorrebbe Un Amico Composer(s): Antonello Venditti First release by: Antonello Venditti - 1984

Amore, amore illogico, amore disperato

Composer(s): Henri Contet; Marguerite Monnot
Performer(s): Edith Piaf

T'as gardé les paupières

Alors tes yeux commandent
Et j'aime leur obéir
Sous ton chaud regard bleu
J'suis toute ensoleillée
T'as des façons à toi d'éclairer nos veillées

T'as gardé les paupières

The Name Game

The Name Game
Composer(s): Lincoln Chase - Shirley Ellis
Performer(s): Shirley Ellis

The name game!

Shirley!
Shirley, Shirley bo Birley Bonana fanna fo Firley
Fee fy mo Mirley, Shirley!

Lincoln!
Lincoln, Lincoln bo Bincoln Bonana fanna fo Fincoln
Fee fy mo Mincoln, Lincoln!

Come on everybody!
I say now let's play a game
I betcha I can make a rhyme out of anybody's name
The first letter of the name, I treat it like it wasn't there
But a B or an F or an M will appear
And then I say bo add a B then I say the name and Bonana fanna and a fo
And then I say the name again with an F very plain and a fee fy and a mo
And then I say the name again with an M this time
and there isn't any name that I can't rhyme

Arnold!
Arnold, Arnold bo Barnold Bonana fanna fo Farnold
Fee fy mo Marnold Arnold!

But if the first two letters are ever the same
I drop them both and say the name like
Bob, Bob drop the B's Bo ob
For Fred, Fred drop the F's Fo red
For Mary, Mary drop the M's Mo ary
That's the only rule that is contrary

Okay? Now say Bo: Bo
Now Tony with a B: Bony
Then Bonana fanna fo: bonana fanna fo
Then you say the name again with an F very plain: Fony
Then a fee fy and a mo: fee fy mo
Then you say the name again with an M this time: Mony
And there isn't any name that you can't rhyme

Every body do Tony!
Pretty good, let's do Billy!
Very good, let's do Marsha!
A little trick with Nick!

The name game
