This is the end of a beautiful friendship It ended a moment ago This is the end of a beautiful friendship I know 'Cause your eyes told me so We've always been Like sister and brother Until tonight When we looked at each other That was the end of a beautiful friendship And just the beginning of love That was the end of a beautiful friendship And just the beginning of love!

Les Sabots D'Hélène

Les Sabots D'Hélène
Composer(s): Georges Brassens
Performer(s): Georges Brassens; Maxime le Forestier; Pierre Nicolas

Les sabots d'Hélène
Etaient tout crottés
Les trois capitaines
L'auraient appelée vilaine
Et la pauvre Hélène
Etait comme une âme en peine
Ne cherche plus longtemps de fontaine
Toi qui as besoin d'eau

Toi qui as besoin d'eau

Toi qui as besoin d'eau

Beautiful Home

Beautiful Home
Composer(s): A.P. Carter
Performer(s): The Carter Family

There's a beautiful home
Far over the sea
There are mansions of bliss
For you and for me
Oh that beautiful home
So wonderf'ly fair
That the savior for me
Has gone to prepare

"There's a beautiful home", far over the sea
"There's a beautiful home", for you and for me
"And it's glittering pow'r", the sun outshines
"And that beautiful home", someday shall be mine

In that beautiful home, a crown I shall wear
When the glorified throne, that glory to share
But the joys of that home, can never be known
'Till the savior we see, upon his white throne

"There's a beautiful home", far over the sea
"There's a beautiful home", for you and for me
"And it's glittering pow'r", the sun outshines
"And that beautiful home", someday shall be mine

Les Rubans Et La Fleur

Les Rubans Et La Fleur
Composer(s): André Popp - Robert Gall
Performer(s): France Gall

Une fleur à sa guitare
Quatre rubans de couleur
Ces rubans ont une histoire
C'est l'histoire de son cœur

Toute la nuit il a joué
J'avais le cœur qui tremblait
Il m'a raconté l'histoire
Des rubans et de son cœur

Et la fleur, dis?
Et la fleur?
Elle n'a donc pas d'histoire
Et la fleur, dis?
Et la fleur ?
Parle-moi d'elle ce soir

Il y avait un ruban gris
Pour sa mère et son pays
Qui en partant lui ont dit
"Aller, bon vent mon petit"

Il y avait un ruban bleu
Pour les filles aux jolis yeux
Qu'il rencontrait en chemin
Qu'il oubliait le matin

Et la fleur, dis?
Et la fleur?
Elle n'a donc pas d'histoire
Et la fleur, dis?
Et la fleur?
Parle-moi d'elle ce soir

Il y avait un ruban rouge
Pour son copain Nicolas
Qui lui écrit quelques fois
"Je suis soldat ne m'oublie pas"

Il y avait un ruban blanc
Il le garde pour l'enfant
L'enfant qu'il aura un jour
Quand il trouvera l'amour

Et la fleur, dis?
Et la fleur?
Elle n'a donc pas d'histoire
Et la fleur, dis?
Et la fleur?
La fleur, tu me l'as donnée

A Bedtime Story

A Bedtime Story Performer(s): Alice Cooper

Lay still, Steven
And I'll tell you a bedtime story
I'll tell you a bedtime story
That's not for all children
It's a very special story
That only special children will understand
It's a half-awake story
And it will be better if you close your eyes
It's a story that takes place in a dream
Like other nightmares you have known
It's a dream that Alice has dreamed
You can dream along with him
You can follow Alice down the staircase
Deep down the stairs
To the pit where he doesn't want to go, but he has to

If you go to sleep now, Steven
You can go down the long and endless stairway
And sing sweet songs to Alice and free him
And if you can't get to sleep, Steven
And in the middle of the night you get out of bed
When everything is quiet and the trees are still
And the birds are hiding from the dark
You can lie down on your bedroom floor
And press your ear tightly to the boards
If you listen very carefully
You can hear Alice searching for a way out
Forever chasing rainbows

Sleep tight, Steven
And have a good night

Les Roses Blanches

Les Roses Blanches
Composer(s): Charles Louis Pothier - Léon Raiter
First release by: Berthe Sylva - 1926
Covered by multiple other artists

A Beggar In Love

A Beggar In Love Composer(s): Bob Merrill Performer(s): David Hughes; Jimmy Roselli; Guy Mitchell

I wander up and down love’s highway
Forever searching every byway
For tender words you may throw my way
I’m a beggar in love

It may be wrong but I don’t care, dear
I’ll take the kisses you can spare, dear
And still be thankful for my share, dear
I’m a beggar in love

But like an actor on a stage
I wouldn’t trade my past
I wouldn’t want to play the king
In someone else’s heart

Although the road I walk is lonely
I know that heart and soul you own me
So please be kind to one who’s only
A beggar in love

But like an actor on a stage
I wouldn’t trade my past
I wouldn’t want to play the king
In someone else’s heart

Although the road I walk is lonely
I know that heart and soul you own me
So please be kind to one who’s only
A beggar in love

A beggar in love

Les Ronciers

Les Ronciers
Composer(s): Brice Homs - Michel Fugain
Performer(s): Michel Fugain

A Bela E A Fera

A Bela E A Fera Composer(s): Chico Buarque - Anda de Hollanda - Edú Lobo Performer(s): Chico Buarque and multiple other artists

Ouve a declaração, oh bela
De um sonhador titã
Um que dá nó em paralela
E almoça rolimã
O homem mais forte do planeta
Tórax de Superman
Tórax de Superman
E coração de poeta

Não brilharia a estrela, oh bela
Sem noite por detrás
Tua beleza de gazela
Sob o meu corpo é mais
Uma centelha num graveto
Queima canaviais
Queima canaviais
Quase que eu fiz um soneto

Mais que na lua ou no cometa
Ou na constelação
O sangue impresso na gazeta
Tem mais inspiração
No bucho do analfabeto
Letras de macarrão
Letras de macarrão
Fazem poema concreto

Oh bela, gera a primavera
Aciona o teu condão
Oh bela, faz da besta fera
Um príncipe cristão
Recebe o teu poeta, oh bela

A Better Life (The Weatherman Knows)

A Better Life (The Weatherman Knows) Composer(s): Jeff Lynne Performer(s): The Idle Race

Hush little baby, don't you cry
Oh-oh, don't you cry
Maybe tomorrow's, a better life
Oh-oh, if you try

Rain is falling all around
Storm came, it brings you down
But if you lose your mind
Weatherman, in his overcoat

Look up in the sky now, the weatherman cry now
Oh-oh, the window pane
Damp in the valley, up in the alley
Oh-oh, it's pouring rain

Rain is falling all around
Storm came, it brings you down
So let your mind roll on
Weatherman, dry's the lonely tears

Early in the morning, while the sun's still yawning
Oh-oh, smiles on you
Maybe today is, a better life
Oh-oh, if we try

Sun is shining all around
It warms your heart and melts the cloud
But if your mind can see
Weatherman, smiles a lonely smile

Do you recall
some years ago?
Up in the mountains that were white with snow
inside a cavern
McDougal he was plannin'
there's gonna be a showdown with somebody he knows

Well he's been there
a year or so
something will happen very soon I know
I hear him playin' his bagpipes every mornin'
I think that it's a warmin'
he's gathering the clan

Soon you'll hear the sound of people shouting
you will see the claymores in their hands
if you knew the reason for their fighting
you would never understand

Oh
Tweedle Dee
Oh Tweedle Dum
The tune McDougal always used to hum
While he was fightin' his rival clan McGregor
Dishonour he would never
the tartan of his clan

A Better Moon

A Better Moon
Composer(s): Ian Anderson
Performer(s): Ian Anderson

I see you better now
Shaded in deeper blue
Hardly needing to carry
The find-your-way lamp down to the river
And tonight flies a better moon
Sad water buffalo lie fast near the shallows
a splash revealing the fly-catching fishes
Dark Gods silently watching
And tonight flies a better moon
I guess you've known lovers here, compliant in passion
Softly laid in the old reed bed, harshly lit in the noon sun
And tonight flies a better moon

Now cloaked in this milky light, new as the virgin dawn
Shrouded sweetly in all kinds of mystery
You turn, smile and then are gone
And tonight flies a better moon
And tonight flies a better moon
And tonight flies a better moon

Kom met me mee

Kom met me mee

Geef me je hand

Kom met me mee

Kom, kom, kom, kom, kom, kom
Kom, kom, kom, kom, kom, kom
Kom, kom, kom, kom, kom, kom
Kom, kom, kom, kom, kom, kom

Kom met me mee

Kom met me mee

A Better Place To Be

A Better Place To Be Composer(s): Harry Chapin Performer(s): Harry Chapin

It was an early morning bar room
And the place just opened up
And the little man come in so fast and
Started at his cup
And the broad who served the whisky
She was a big old friendly girl
And she tried to fight her empty nights
By smilin' at the world

And she said "Hey Bub, It's been awhile
Since you been around
Where the hell you been hidin'?
And why you look so down?"

But the little man just sat there like he'd never heard a sound

The waitress she gave out with a cough
And acting not the least put off
She spoke once again

She said, "I don't want to bother you
Consider it's understood
I know I'm not no beauty queen
But I sure can listen good"

And the little man took his drink in his hand
And he raised it to his lips
He took a couple of sips
And he told the waitress this story

"I am the midnight watchman down at Miller's Tool and Die
And I watch the metal rusting, and I watch the time go by
A week ago at the diner I stopped to get a bite
And this here lovely lady she sat two seats from my right
And Lord, Lord, Lord she was alright

"Oh she was so damned beautiful that she'd warm a winter's frost
But she was long past lonely, and well nigh unto lost
Now I'm not much of a mover, or a pick-em-up easy guy
But I decided to glide on over, and give her one good try
And Lord, Lord, Lord she was worth a try

"Tongued-tied like a school boy, I stammered out some words
But it did not really matter much, 'cause I don't think she heard
She just looked clear on through me to a space back in my head
And it shamed me into silence, as quietly she said
'If you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me
Cause I know I'm going nowhere, and anywhere's a better place to be
Anywhere's a better place to be'

"I drove her to my boarding house, and I took her up to my room
And I went to turn on the only light to brighten up the gloom
But she said, 'Please leave the light off, Oh I don't mind the dark.'
And as her clothes all tumbled 'round her, I could hear my heart
The moonlight shown upon her as she lay back in my bed
It was the kind of scene I only had imagined in my head
I just could not believe it, to think that she was real
And as I tried to tell her she said 'Shhh .. I know just how you feel
And if you want to come here with me, then that's all right with me
'Cause I've been oh so lonely, lovin' someone is a better way to be
anywhere's a better way to be'

"The morning come so swiftly but I held her in my arms
But she slept like a baby, snug and safe from harm
I did not want to share her with the world or break the mood
So before she woke I went out and brought us both some food

"I came back with my paper bag, to find out she was gone
She'd left a six word letter saying 'It's time that I moved on'"

The waitress took a bar rag, and she wiped it across her eyes
And as she spoke her voice came out as something like a sigh
She said "I wish that I was beautiful, or that you were halfway blind
And I wish I weren't so dog-gone fat, I wish that you were mine
And I wish that you'd come with me, when I leave for home
For we both know all about loneliness, and livin' all alone"

And the little man
Looked at the empty glass in his hand
And he smiled a crooked grin
He said, "I guess I'm out of gin
And know we both have been so lonely
And if you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me
'Cause I know I'm goin' nowhere and anywhere's a better place to be"

Les Rois Fainéants

Les Rois Fainéants
Composer(s): A. Pate - Hubert Ithier
Performer(s): André Bourvil

Au temps, au bon temps
Des rois fainéants
Ti qui tic qui tic!
Les jours et les nuits
Se passaient au lit
Ti qui tic qui tic!

Traînés par des bœufs
Dans un char moelleux
On faisait Paris-Orléans
En trois ans, tout en taquinant
Les belles pucell's en passant...

Au temps, au bon temps
Des rois fainéants
Ti qui tic qui tic!
D'un'main on mangeait
De l'autre on buvait
Ti qui tic qui tic!

L'amour se chantait
Sur des fluviaux d'or
Et les belles offraient les trésors
De leurs corps
Aux rois fainéants

Les baladins jouaint du bilboquet
Et les menestrels grattaient leurs viell's
Et tous les bouffons dansaient en rond
C'était toujours la fête!

Tous les manants,badauds criaient
"Bravo!"
Et parfois, pour un privilégié
Le bon roi disait à son bourreau
"Oh! Coupez-lui la tête!
Ça lui fera les pieds!
Foutez-moi la paix!"

Au temps, au bon temps
Des rois fainéants
Ti qui tic qui tic!
T'aurais eu ma reine
Un beau diadème
Ti qui tic qui tic!

Parmi les oiseaux
Au bord des ruisseaux
Je te vois, quenouillant le lin
Enfin bref, comm'dirait Pépin
Chacun doit mériter son pain!

Au temps, au bon temps
Des rois fainéants
Ti qui tic qui tic!
T'aurais pas aimé
Me voir travailler
Ti qui tic qui tic!

Alors, mon amour
Ne crie pas toujours
Laisse-moi dormir
Et sourire

Au bon temps
Des rois fainéants
Ti qui tic qui tic!
Des rois fainéants
Ti qui tic qui tic!
Des rois fainéants!

Ha! Je suis fatigué moi!

A Better Place To Die

A Better Place To Die Performer(s): Gene Autry

Of all the people in the world
Why you and I
With lovers here and everywhere
We don't care enough to try
Why couldn't all the hurt we're feeling
Now have passed us by
Couldn't love have picked
A better place to die

And of all the hearts in the world, why yours and mine
How could we go from so much love to so much hurt tonight
But it's in our hearts and it's in our bed and it's even in your eyes
Couldn't love have picked a better place to die

Somewhere out there there's lovers who want to be free
Why couldn't love have died with them instead of here with you and me
But it's pityful how all these tears won't bring it back to life
Couldn't love have picked a better place to die

Oh, couldn't love have picked a better place to die

J'avais dix-huit ans
Tout juste et quittant
Ma ville natale
Un beau jour, o gue
Je vins debarquer
dans la capitale
J'entrai pas aux cris
D'"A nous deux Paris"
En Ile-de-France
Que ton Rastignac
N'ait cure, Balzac!
De ma concurrence
De ma concurrence

Gens en place, dormez
Sans vous alarmer
Rien ne vous menace
Ce n'est qu'un jeune sot
qui monte a l'assaut
du p'tit montparnasse
On n's'etonnera pas
Si mes premiers pas
tout droit me menèrent
Au pont Mirabeau
pour un coup de chapeau
À l'Apolinaire
À l'Apolinaire

Bec enfarine
Pouvaisje deviner
Le remue-mnage
Que dans mon destin
Causerait soudain
Ce plerinage?
Que circonvenu
Mon caeur ingenu
Allait faire des siennes
Tomber amoureux
De sa toute première Parisienne
De sa toute première Parisienne

N'anticipons pas
Sur la berge en bas
Tout contre une pile
La belle tchait
D' fair' des ricochets
D'un' main malhabile
Moi, dans ce temps-la
Je n' dis pas cela
En bombant le torse
L'air avantageux
J'tais a ce jeu
De première force
De première force

Tu m' donn's un baiser
Ai-je proposé
À la demoiselle
Et moi, sans retard
J' t'apprends de cet art
Toutes les ficelles
Affaire conclue
En une heure elle eut
L'adresse requise
En change, moi
J' cueillis plein d'moi
Ses lèvres exquise
Ses lèvres exquise

Et durant un temps
Les journaux d'antan
D'ailleurs le relatent
Fallait se lever
Matin pour trouver
Une pierre plate
On redessina
Du pont d'Iena
Au pont Alexandre
Jusqu' Saint-Michel
Mais notre échelle
La carte du tendre
La carte du tendre

Mais c'tait trop beau
Au pont Mirabeau
La belle volage
Un jour se perchait
Sur un ricochet
Et gagnait le large
Ell' me fit faux-bond
Pour un vieux barbon
La petite ingrate
Un Crsus vivant
Detail aggravant
Sur la rive droite
Sur la rive droite

J'en pleurai pas mal
Le flux lacrymal
Me fit la quinzaine
Au viaduc d'Auteuil
Parait qu'a vue d'œil
Grossissait la Seine
Et si, pont d' l'Alma
J'ai pas noy ma
Detresse ineffable
C'est qu' l'eau coulant sous
Les pieds du zouzou
était imbuvable
était imbuvable

Et qu' j'avais acquis
Cett' conviction qui
Du reste me navre
Que mort ou vivant
Ce n'est pas souvent
Qu'on arrive au havre
Nous attristons pas
Allons de ce pas
Donner, debonnaires
Au pont Mirabeau
Un coup de chapeau
À l'Apollinaire
À l'Apollinaire

A Better Place To Live

A Better Place To Live Composer(s): Dolly Parton Performer(s): Dolly Parton

There's a bit of magic
In a simple little smile
Something that just makes life seem
A little more worthwhile
And there's a world of meaning
In the touch of someone's hand
A gentle touch that let's your brother
Know you understand
Oh if people would stop taking
And just once try to give
We could make the world we're living in
A better place to live
La la la la la la la la la la la la

And if we'd love one another instead of finding faults
We could afford the price of peace, love is all it costs
Oh wouldn't it be great to live and sing in harmony
Everybody take your brother's hand and sing my song with me

La la la la la la la la la la la la

All life has to offer that's what most folks desire
But offer nothing in return, cause they don't seem to care
And if we'd ask to be forgiven and be willing to forgive
We could make the world we're living in a better place to live
And if we'd all climb together, we could climb the highest hill
We could make the world we're living in a better place to live

And if we'd love one another instead of finding faults
We could afford the price of peace, love is all it costs
Oh wouldn't it be great to live and sing in harmony
Everybody take your brother's hand and sing my song with me

La la la la la la la la la la la la
