Windy City

Windy City
Composer(s): Sammy Fain; Paul Francis Webster
Performer(s): Doris Day

Boys, Chicagy's the biggest noise in Illinoise.....
Listen...

I just blew in from the windy city
The windy city is mighty purty
But they ain't got what we got, no sirree
They got shacks up to seven storeys
Never see any morning glories
But a step from our doorway
We got 'em fer free

They've got those minstrel shows
Purty ladies in the big chapeaus
Private lawns, public parks
For the sake of civic virtue
They've got fountains there that squirt you

I just blew in from the windy city
The windy city is mighty purty
But they ain't got what we got.
I'm telling you, boys,
We got more life in Deadwood city than in all of Illinois!

On the street was a dancin' feller
All dressed up in a suit of yeller
Aand the dance that he did there
Went somethin' like this...

Whistle! (whistling) More!

You shoulda seen me a-winder shopping
A-winder shopping with eyes a-poppin'
At the sights that you see there, yes sirree!

Press a bell and a moment later
Up you go in an elevator
Just as fast as a polecat a-climbin' a tree

I heard claim hundreds came
To a thing they call a baseball game!
Cigar stores, revolving doors
Men wear sideburns and they oughter
'Cause a haircut costs a quarter

I just blew in from the windy city,
The windy city is mighty purty
But they ain't got what we got.
I'm tellin' ya, boys
I ain't a-swappin' half of Deadwood for the whole of Illinois!

Aller Simple Pour L'enfer

Aller Simple Pour L'enfer
Composer(s): Yves Duteil
Performer(s): Yves Duteil

À celui qu'on rêvait ensemble?

Windy

Windy
Composer(s): Ruthann Friedman
Performer(s): The Association

Who's peekin' out from under a stairway
Calling a name that's lighter than air
Who's bending down to give me a rainbow
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy

And Windy has stor-my eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

And Windy has stor-my eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy
Everyone knows it's Windy
Everyone knows.....]

Allende

Allende

Allende Allende Allende Allende

Composer(s): Jean Ferrat
Performer(s): Jean Ferrat

Qu'on n'a jamais pu égaler
Où l'on resta trois jours à table
A cause de trois macchabées

Alléluia alléluia alléluia alléluia

Mais dans ce monde de misère
Le bonheur est vite enterré
Il faut regagner sa chaumière
Retrouver sa femme atterrée
En voyant l'état du costume
Et du bonhomme et des souliers
A la maison comme de coutume
Les cloches se mettent à voler

Alléluia alléluia alléluia alléluia

Winds Of The Old Days

Winds Of The Old Days
Composer(s): Joan Baez
Performer(s): Joan Baez

The lady's adrift in a foreign land
Singing on issues both humble and grand
A decade flew past her and there on the page
She read that the prince had returned to the stage
Hovering near treacherous waters
A friend saw her drifting and caught her
Unguarded fantasies flying too far
Memories tumbling like sweets from a jar

And take me down to the harbor now
Grapes of the summer are low on the bough
Ghosts of my history will follow me there
And the winds of the old days will blow through my hair

Breath on an undying ember
It doesn't take much to remember
Those eloquent songs from the good old days
That set us to marching with banners ablaze
But reporters, there's no sense in prying
Our blue-eyed son's been denying
The truths that are wrapped in a mystery
The sixties are over so set him free

And take me down to the harbor now
Grapes of the summer are low on the bough
Ghosts of my history will follow me there
And the winds of the old days will blow through my hair

Why do I sit the autumnal judge
Years of self-righteousness will not budge
Singer or savior, it was his to choose
Which of us knows what was his to lose
Because idols are best when they're made of stone
A savior's a nuisance to live with at home
Stars often fall, heroes go unsung
And martyrs most certainly die too young

So thank you for writing the best songs
Thank you for righting a few wrongs
You're a savage gift on a wayward bus
But you stepped down and you sang to us

And get you down to the harbor now
Most of the sour grapes are gone from the bough
Ghosts of Johanna will visit you there
And the winds of the old days will blow through your hair

Alléluia (Charles Aznavour)

Alléluia
Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

La jeunesse est turbulente
Insolente
Mais souvenez-vous
Vous les gens devenus sages
Qu'à votre âge
Vous étiez comme nous
Tout comme nous pressés de vivre
Et de suivre
Le chemin de vos joies
Alors pourquoi jeter la pierre
Laissez faire
Tout ça se calmera

Alléluia! Alléluia!
Nos vingt ans
N'ont qu'un temps
Laissons-les brûler
Alléluia ! Alléluia !
Le ciel donne
Ce qu'il nous donne
Pour en profiter

Nous avons l'âge où l'on crève
Pour des rêves
Peut-être insensés
L'âge ou l'on refait le monde
Que l'on fonde
Sur de vagues idées
On se voudrait invulnérable
Intraitable
Toujours le plus fort
Faisant tout avec frénésie
Notre vie
Devient un corps à corps

Alléluia! Alléluia!
Nos vingt ans
N'ont qu'un temps
Laissons-les brûler
Alléluia! Alléluia!
Le ciel donne
Ce qu'il nous donne
Pour en profiter

Le passé qui règne encore
On l'ignore
Qu'on résiste
Aux lois établies
Et pour que l'on s'extériorise
On se grise
De vitesse et de bruit

Alléluia! Alléluia!
Nos vingt ans
N'ont qu'un temps
Laissons-les brûler
Alléluia! Alléluia!
Le ciel donne
Ce qu'il nous donne
Pour en profiter

Et nos passions sont de même
Quand on aime
Tout est bouleversé
Nos sentiments nous dépassent
Et l'on passe
Notre temps à rêver
La vie prend une autre tournure
On murmure
Des mots simples et doux
Car au fond on est romantique
Ça explique
Que l'on soit un peu fou

Alléluia! Alléluia!
Nos vingt ans
N'ont qu'un temps
Laissons-les brûler
Alléluia! Alléluia!
Le ciel donne
Ce qu'il nous donne
Pour en profiter

Winds Of Change

Winds Of Change
Composer(s): Vic Briggs; Eric Burdon;
Barry Jenkins; Danny McCulloch; John Weider
Performer(s): Eric Burdon & The Animals

There are winds of changes blowing
Gathering leaves up in its path
And the people who are the leaves
Will remain in our hearts
With love, till eternity

King Elmore was born
So was Duke Ellington
Jelly Roll made love
Bessie Smith was created in heaven above
Robert Johnson sang the blues
Shick Webb did those things that only he could do
Charlie Christian started a new thing
And, oh my, how Billie Holiday could sing…
Alan Freed rock and rolled,
Joe Turner's voice was very low
B.B. King wailed
Charlie Parker cried
Louis Jordan smiled
Ray Charles moaned
Chuck Berry rock and rolled
Fats Domino made me feel good
Elvis Presley did things that no one thought he could

Then came the Beatles, Rolling Stones
Whole new thing was going on
Frank Zappa zapped
Mamas and Papas knew where it was at
They all listened to Ravi Shankar…
Now that we got Jimi Hendrix
We know where we are (and Louis Jordan smiled…)
And the winds of change go on blowing, blowing
Gathering more and more leaves in its path
As time goes past…

Winds of change keep on blowing
Winds of change keep on blowing
Bob Dylan sang about the winds of change
Blowing, it's all blowing, the winds of change…

The Christmas Mouse

The Christmas Mouse
Performer(s): Erick Traplin

One early Christmas Eve, before Santa came
A mouse snuck out of his little hole and licked a candy cane
Before he could escape, he heard the sound of little hooves
It was Santa's little reindeer, prancing on the roof

Down the chimney Santa came and stood before the mouse
And asked him if he was the owner of the house
The mouse was very pleased and held himself up tall
Said, "I am the little mouse, who lives inside the wall"

And I scurry "round by night, looking for a bite
A little scrap of food, to take home to my wife
Who lives with me inside the wall, with my children all
Oh, I am the little mouse, who lives inside the wall

Well, Santa laughed so hard, a tear fell from his eye
To see a mouse so proud, and not the least bit shy
He said I can't recall, meeting one so brave and small
As the little mouse, who lives inside the wall

Santa wiped a joyful tear from his twinkling eye
Then Santa asked the mouse, with what he could supply
A fire truck, a tricycle, or a big red ball
Anything at all for the mouse inside the wall

Oh, it would be so nice, if I could have a slice
A little piece of pie, to take home to my wife
Who lives with me inside the wall, with my children all
Said the little mouse, who lives inside the wall

Santa reached inside his pack, brought out a pie so small
That it would even fit, within the mouse's tiny paw
And every time you took a bite, it came back to it's all
And gave it to the little mouse, who lives inside the wall

Then Santa quickly filled the stockings hanging in a row
And with a merry Christmas, up the chimney he did go
The mouse then sang a song, as he ran off down the hall
Sang, I am the little mouse, who lives inside the wall

And I scurry 'round by night, looking for a bite
A little scrap of food, to take home to my wife
Who lives with me inside the wall, with my children all
Oh, I am the little mouse, who lives inside the wall
Oh, I am the little mouse, who lives inside the wall

Windows

Windows
Composer(s): Kerry Livgren
Performer(s): Kansas

Windows, to the world are what we're looking through
Who knows, if what we find is true
Seeing, is believing as some people say
Knowing, is to get a better view

(Chorus)
For the windows of the world
Are never open all the way
And the voices of the past
Are not forgotten
Till you leave it all behind you
You will never see the day
'Cause your life is on the line

Tasting, of the wine of some forbidden fruit
Reaping, the sorrows that we sow
Reaching, to the stars will never bring us home
Teaching, what we really could not know

(Chorus)

Touching, we are moving to the things we feel
Trying, to be what we could never be
Turning, if we'd only open up our hearts
Yearning, for the things we cannot see

(Chorus)

Allein

Allein
Performer(s): Reinhard Mey

You`re Window Shoppin`
Just Window Shoppin`
You`re only lookin` a-round
You`re not buyin`
You`re just tryin`
To find the best deal in town

You give away your kisses
But you never give your heart
To anyone who`s fool enough to fall ...
You don`t feel love
You don`t want real love
You`re Window Shoppin` that`s all

You`re Window Shoppin`
Just Window Shoppin`

Allegheny Moon I need your light
To help me find romance tonight
So shine, shine, shine
Allegheny Moon your silver beams
Can lead the way to golden dreams
So shine, shine, shine

High among the stars so bright above
The magic of your lamp of love can make him mine
Allegheny Moon it’s up to you
Please see what you can do
For me and for my one and only love

Shine, shine, shine
Shine, shine, shine

High among the stars so bright above

Window Cleaner No 2

Window Cleaner No 2
Performer(s): George Formby

You've heard about my capers when windows I've to clean
Now I'd like to tell you of a few more things I've seen

I've seen Miss Thompson in her flat take off her shoes her coat and hat
I've seen her take off more than that, when I'm cleaning windows

At a ladies school I call, one girl flirts with me and all
I'm insured in case I fall, when I'm cleaning windows

All day up this ladder I'm as happy as can be
It's not my fault I see a lot of things I shouldn't see

To overcrowded flats I've been, sixteen in one bed I've seen
With a lodger tucked up in between, when I'm cleaning windows

Old soldiers never die they say, now I don't want to pass away
I kick the bucket every day when I'm cleaning windows

Through working at such dizzy heights, I dream about my job at night
I polish my wife's thin gummy tights, when I'm cleaning windows

All day up this ladder I'm as happy as can be
It's not my fault I see a lot of things I shouldn't see

The newlyweds at number six, somehow the curtains they can't fix
They play some lovely parlour tricks, when I' m cleaning windows

Now lots of girls I've had to jilt, for they admire the way I'm built
It's a good job I don't wear a kilt, when I'm cleaning windows

At the coronation I'll commence to work where crowds are very dense
And let me stand for eighteen pence, when I'm cleaning windows

All day up this ladder I'm as happy as can be
It's not my fault I see a lot of things I shouldn't see

At eight o'clock a girl she wakes, at five past eight a bath she takes
At ten past eight the ladder breaks, when I’m cleaning windows

Composer(s): Chris Gantry
Performer(s): Johnny Cash

How she got that junk car runnin' guess I'll never know
It never ran but once and set to winters in the snow
Well imagine runnin' out on me when I lay sound asleep Allegheny
Well my big mistake was thinkin' she was something I could keep
She stole my winter's food supply and something else I fear
My savin's in the mattress have strangely disappeared
Now those who know me best knows he who robs me best beware Allegheny
I'm gonna call up the dogs and hunt you down drag you back here by the hair

Oh Allegheny something tells me you're dis-satisfied
Well could it be because I've been your mail-order bride
There's a half of you that's French yeah and I need to crave a better style
And a half of you is Cherokee yeah and I've gone wild Allegheny

She's got a head start on me as a crow flies half a day
And unless I miss my guess she'll stop to rest in Monterey
But if I take the Knoxville Highway thirteen hours it will be Allegheny
Well she forgot I knew the shortcut I'll be there in less than three

Oh Allegheny something tells me...

I signaled for my dogs to wait outside the hotel door
I described her to the desk clerk he said try the second floor
And then he mentioned she's got company
And that marks the stranget's doom Allegheny
I wish I was her so I could see my face when I bust into the room

Oh Allegheny something tells me...
Allegheny Allegheny come back here Allegheny Allegheny

Windekind

Windekind
Composer(s): A. Muhren; P. Els
Performer(s): Ann Christy

Al lijken al je dagen
Zo vreselijk monotoon
Al gaat je droom vervagen
En voel je je lui en loom
Toch schijn je te herleven
Bij het horen van de wind
Als een blad dat plots gaar zweven
In bekoring voor z'n lied

Windekind, windekind
Welk geheim schuilt er in z'n lied
Windekind, windekind

Zo hopeloos dekadent
En al lijken alle mensen
Je lichtzinnig en zo verwend
Toch vind je troost en vrede
In de woorden van de wind
Al je zorgen en problemen
Gaan verloren in z'n lied

Windekind, windekind
Welk geheim schuilt er in z'n lied
Windekind, windekind

Windekind, windekind
Welk geheim schuilt er in z'n lied
Windekind, windekind
Fluistert hij zacht een liefdeslied

Windekind, windekind
Fluistert hij zacht een liefdeslied

Windekind, windekind

Alle Prese Con Una Verde Milonga

Alle Prese Con Una Verde Milonga
Composer(s): Paolo Conte
Performer(s): Paolo Conte

Wind Of Change (Scorpions)

Wind Of Change
Composer(s): Klaus Meine
Performer(s): Scorpions

I follow the Moskva down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world is closing in and did you ever think
That we could be so close like brothers
The future's in the air I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

Walking down the street distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
I follow the Moskva down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams (share their dreams)
With you and me (with you and me)
Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change (wind of change)

The wind of change blows straight into the face of time
Like a storm wind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take me (take me) to the magic of the moment
On a glory night (glory night)
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams (share their dreams)
With you and me (with you and me)
Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night (glory night)
Where the children of tomorrow dream away (dream away)
In the wind of change (wind of change)

Alle Blumen Dieser Welt

Alle Blumen Dieser Welt
Composer(s): A. Alstone - Eddy Marnay - P. Buchenkamp
Performer(s): Nana Mouskouri

Alle Blumen dieser Welt
Alle Blumen bringst du mir
Doch mir ist ein Tag mit dir
Ohoh lieber als alle Blumen dieser Welt

Violette Orchideen
Möchte ich nicht mehr
Bald schon müssen sie vergehen
Dann wird es so leer

Alle Blumen dieser Welt
Alle Blumen bringst du mir
Doch mir ist ein Tag mit dir
Ohoh lieber als alle Blumen dieser Welt

Weiß erblüht der junge Flieder
Rot erblüht der Mohn
Doch die Schönheit welkt auch wieder
Ist nur Illusion

Alle Blumen dieser Welt
Alle Blumen bringst du mir
Doch mir ist ein Tag mit dir
Ohoh lieber als alle Blumen dieser Welt

Ohoh lieber als alle Blumen dieser Welt
