Lisa, Listen To Me

Lisa, Listen To Me
Composer(s): David Clayton-Thomas - Dick Halligan
Performer(s): Blood, Sweat & Tears

Once a girl I knew, all alone and unprepared
Everyone she knew, runnin' scared
Then she found him or maybe he found her
His were gentle words she had never heard before

He said, "Lisa, listen to me
Don't you know where you belong?
Darling, Lisa, you can tell me...
You've been silent for too long"

Once another man took her on a younger day
All a young girl can do is pray
Then she found him or maybe he found her
His were gentle words she had never heard before
She had never heard before

He said, "Lisa, listen to me
Don't you know where you belong?
Darling, Lisa, you can tell me...
You've been silent for too long"

He said, "Lisa, listen to me
Don't you know where you belong?
Darling, Lisa, you can tell me...
You've been silent for too long"

Then she found him or maybe he found her
His were gentle words she had never heard before
She had never heard before

Madeleine Qu'avait Du Coeur

Madeleine Qu'avait Du Coeur
Composer(s): Raymond Asso; Max d'Yresne
Performer(s): Edith Piaf

Elle avait l'âme sereine
Et des anges la candeur
On l'appelait Madeleine
Elle avait beaucoup de cœur

Déjà, le jour de sa naissance
Il pleuvait, le ciel était bas
Elle eut une bien triste enfance
Car ses parents ne l'aimaient pas

Elle priait avec innocence
Comme ayant l'air de s'excuser
"Mon Dieu pardonnez notre enfance
Et ceux qui nous ont enfantés"

Elle avait l'âme sereine
Et des anges la candeur
On l'appelait Madeleine
Elle avait beaucoup de cœur

En grandissant, cette naïve
Sentit grandir son cœur aussi
Ce sont des choses qui arrivent
Un bon cœur n'est jamais petit

En grandissant cette naïve
Connut des tas, des tas d'amants
Ce sont des choses qui arrivent
Quand on a le cœur aussi grand

D'amour, son âme était pleine
Elle était toute de candeur
On l'appelait Madeleine
Elle avait beaucoup de cœur

Elle était frêle et docile
Et ne savait rien refuser
Or elle avait le cœur fragile
Et le cœur s'use à trop aimer

Elle était frêle et docile
Et ne vivait que pour l'amour
Or ce grand cœur qu'était fragile
Il s'est arrêté pour toujours

Sonnez cloches, Ding dong daine
Nuit du ciel fanent les fleurs
Elle est morte, Madeleine
D'une maladie de cœur

Lisa Says

Lisa Says
Composer(s): Lou Reed
Performer(s): The Velvet Underground

Lisa says that it's allright
When she meets me alone at night
Lisa says that she has a fun
And she'll do it with just about anyone

Lisa says, Lisa says, Lisa says, Lisa says
Lisa says that she's on the run
Looking for a special one
Lisa says that every time she makes his trip
She knows her heart will beat

Lisa says, Lisa says, Lisa says, Lisa says
Looking for a part and some action
Going to make it feel okay
But what do you find
When the time has come on, now
Look at it run

Lisa says, Lisa says, Lisa says, Lisa says
Lisa says, Lisa says, Lisa says ...

Madeleine (Jacques Brel)

Madeleine
Italian Title: Maddalena
Composer(s): Jacques Brel; Jean Corti; Gérard Jouannest
Originally performed by: Jacques Brel
Covered by various other artists

Demain j'attendrai Madeleine
Je rapporterai du lilas
J'en rapporterai toute la semaine
Madeleine elle aimera ça
Demain j'attendrai Madeleine
Demain j'attendrai Madeleine
On ira au cinéma
Je lui dirai des "je t'aime"
Madeleine elle aimera ça

Lisa Is Lisa

Lisa Is Lisa
((Adapted from: I'm Not Lisa (by Jessi Colter) - 1975))
Composer(s): Jessi Colter - Nelly Byl
Performer(s): Ann Christy - 1976

Lisa is Lisa
Maar ik ben anders
Lisa is Lisa
Maar ik ben Ann

Lisa kan zingen
Zoals geen ander
Maar ik doe dingen
Die zij niet kan

Je kan ons beiden
Niet vergelijken
Want zij is donker
En ik wat blonder

Ze was jouw ideaal
Maar ik deel jou bestaan
En als je wenst
Dat ik bij jou blijf
Praat, praat asjeblieft
Niet over Lisa

Lisa, in het leven
Moet je soms kiezen
Omdat je alles
Niet krijgen kan

Lisa is Lisa
Maar ik ben anders
Lisa is Lisa
En ik ben Ann

Madeleine (Francis Cabrel)

Madeleine
Composer(s): Francis Cabrel
Performer(s): Francis Cabrel

Madeleine, trop de peine
Il faudrait qu'elle oublie
Ces amours lointaines
Qui reviennent chaque nuit
Quand Madeleine dort

Lisa

Lisa
Composer(s): Francis Cabrel
Performer(s): Francis Cabrel

Tu disais souvent "on vivra ailleurs"
Je courais me cacher
Quand je voulais que tu pleures
Quelques hommes jouent encore
T'as beau tendre tes mains
Quelques hommes jouent encore

Madeira, M'dear

Madeira, M'dear
Composer(s): Michael Flanders; Donald Swann
Performer(s): Flanders & Swann; The Limeliters

She was young, she was pure, she was new, she was nice
She was fair, she was sweet seventeen
He was old, he was vile and no stranger to vice
He was base, he was bad, he was mean
He had slyly enveigled her up to his flat
To view his collection of stamps
And he said as he hastened to put out the cat
The wine, his cigar and the lamps
"Have some Madeira, m'Dear!
You really have nothing to fear
I'm not trying to tempt you, that wouldn't be right
You shouldn't drink spirits at this time of night
Have some Madeira, m'Dear!
It's so very much nicer than beer
I don't care for sherry and cannot drink stout
And port is a wine I can well do without
It's simply a case of "chacun a son gout"
Have some Madeira, m'Dear!"

Unaware of the wiles of the snake in the grass
And the fate of the maiden who topes
She lowered her standards by raising her glass
Her courage, her eyes and his hopes
She sipped it, she drank it, she drained it, she did
And quietly he filled it again
And he said as he secretly carved one more notch
On the butt of his gold-handled cane
"Have some Madeira, m'Dear!
I've got a small cask of it here
And once it's been opened, you know it won't keep
Do finish it up, it will help you to sleep
Have some Madeira, m'Dear!
It's really an excellent year
Now if it were gin, you'd be wrong to say yes
The evil gin does would be hard to assess
Besides it's inclined to affect my prowess
Have some Madeira, m'Dear!"

Then there flashed though her mind what her mother had said
With her antepenultimate breath
"Oh my child, should you look at the wine which is red
Be prepared for a fate worse than death!"
She let go her glass with a shrill little cry
Crash! Tinkle! It fell to the floor
When he asked "What in Heaven?", she made no reply
Up her mind, and a dash for the door
"Have some Madeira, m'Dear!"
Rang out down the hall, loud and clear
A tremulous cry that was filled with despair
As she paused to take breath in the full midnight air
"Have some Madeira, m'Dear!"
The words seemed to ring in her ear
Until the next morning, she woke up in bed
With a smile on her lips, an ache in her head
And a beard in her earhole that tickled and said
"Have some Madeira, m'Dear!"

Liquor To Like Her

Liquor To Like Her
Composer(s): Tom Hemby - Paul Overstreet
Performer(s): Hank Williams Jr.; Pete Schlegel

It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
Thats why I drink all the time
It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
But when I'm liquored up
I like her just fine

She wants to tell me where to go
Tell me what to do
Tell me what to eat
And how loud I can chew
She even wants to tell me
What thoughts I oughta think
It used to drive me crazy
Till it drove me to drink

It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
Thats why I drink all the time
It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
But when I'm liquored up
I like her just fine

Well shes such a pretty thing
You'd think shes heaven sent
She's the quarrelsome kind
Love's an argument
She could yell all day
She can scream all night
I just sit there smilin
As high as a kite

It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
Thats why I drinking all the time
It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
But when I'm liquored up
I like her just fine

This drinking buddy of mine
Said he met a girl
Said she was the meanest
Woman in the world
I saw her pretty picture
I said man your poking fun
Then the day I met her
I said pour me one

It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
That's why I drink all the time
It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
But when I'm liquored up
I like her just fine

You may look down your nose at me
Think I'm an old sorry
Son of a bean
The only way I'm giving up
My drinking glass is if I can
Find a way to get her off my back

Spoken: Your wife's on the phone.

Little brown jug upon my lips
Your saving our love
With every sip

It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
Thats why I drink all the time
It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
But when I'm liquored up
I like her just fine

Every time I get sober
She drives me out of my mind
It takes a whole lot of liquor
To like her
But when I'm liquored up
I like her just fine

But when I'm liquored up
I like her just fine

But when I'm liquored up
Hell I love her

Made You

Made You
Composer(s): John Barry; Trevor Peacock
Performer(s): Adam Faith

I saw you sitting there so cool
Like you just come home from school
Looking such a pretty sight
Like a stick of dynamite
Sitting on a coffee bar stool

You're a gasser that's a fact and I never can relax until I've made you

I feel such a crazy clown
You're the biggest thing in town
Come on honey isn't fair
Never getting anywhere
How do I melt you down

You're a gasser that's a fact and I never can relax until I've made you

I'm not giving up the chase
I don't want to lose this case
Every time I make a play
Baby you just run away
I never make first basev

You're a gasser that's a fact and I never can relax until I've made you

Lipstick, Powder And Paint

Lipstick, Powder And Paint
Composer(s): Jesse Stone
First release by: Joe Turner - 1956
Covered by multiple other artists

Lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
is you is, or is you ain't

There goes my baby up a tree
a-giggling and a wiggling her toes at me
Let me put my glasses on
Haven't had such fun since she's been gone

Lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
is you is, or is you ain't

Hound dog scratching fleas
looking like she's in love with me
Licks my hand everywhere I go
I wish my baby loved me so

Lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
is you is, or is you ain't

Taller than the barnyard, ten feet high
hide me till your man pass by
Don't you sneeze and don't you cough
If you get dusty, I'll brush you off

Lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
is you is, or is you ain't

What kind of love is that you make
the world starts a-trembling and the building shakes
so love me, hug me once again
let the roof and the walls come tumbling in

Lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
is you is, or is you ain't

Lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
lipstick powder and paint
is you is, or is you ain't

Lipstick, powder and paint

(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

When you left me all alone at the record hop
Told me you were goin' out for a soda pop
You were gone for quite a while, half an hour or more
You came back and man oh man this is what I saw

Lipstick on you collar told a tale on you
Lipstick on you collar said you were untrue
Bet your bottom dollar you and I are through
Cuz lipstick on you collar told a tale on you, yeah

You said it belonged to me, made me stop and think
Then I noticed yours was red, mine was baby pink
Who walked in but Mary Jane, lipstick all a mess
Were you smoochin' my best friend, if the answer's yes

Lipstick on you collar told a tale on you
Lipstick on you collar said you were untrue
Bet your bottom dollar you and I are through
Cuz lipstick on you collar told a tale on you, boy

Told a tale on you, man

Told a tale on you, yeah

Made In Paris

Made In Paris
Composer(s): Burt Bacharach; Hal David
Performer(s): Trini Lopez

When there's a moon above
It is something to see how the fellas follow the girls
They're all in search of love
There isn't a lover, who doesn't discover
That if it's made in Paris
You can bet that there is a girl for every boy
Dreams are made in Paris every night
They come true, can't you hear, Paris calling you

The girls are everywhere
The scent of their perfume is meant to go right to your head
So don't just sit and stir
If the fun and the laughter, the good times you're after
Can just be made in Paris
If you don't know how to speak French, she'll understand
Love is made in Paris every night
Rain or shine, go get yours, I've got mine
Find your dream! Find your love!
I've got mine! Go get yours!

If it's made in Paris
If you don't know how to speak French, she'll understand
Love is made in Paris every night
Rain or shine, go get yours, I've got mine
Find your dream! Find your love! I've got mine!
Go get yours!

Lips Of Wine

Lips Of Wine
Composer(s): Shirley Wolfe - Sy Soloway
Performer(s): Andy Williams

I tasted your sweet lips, thrilled to my fingertips
Lips of wine, warm with fire, you are my one desire
Lips of wine, and they are mine

While tropic breezes play, while palm trees gently sway
Lips of wine, come to me, whisper low so tenderly
Lips of wine, and they are mine

Sweet Hawaiian miss, no more will I roam
I must have your kiss and I can't go home

You stole my heart from me, pretty rose of Waikiki
Lips of wine, sweet and rare, tell me you will always care
Lips of wine, and they are mine

(Sweet lips, sweet and tasty lips)

Sweet Hawaiian miss, no more will I roam
I must have your kiss and I can't go home

I tasted you sweet lips (sweet lips, your sweet and tasty lips)
Thrilled to my fingertips (sweet lips, your sweet and tasty lips)
Lips of wine, warm with fire, you are my one desire
Lips of wine (sweet lips) and they are mine (sweet lips of wine)
And they are mine (sweet lips of wine)

Ooh, they are mine (sweet lips of wine)

Le pudding et le shetland
David Bailey, Mary Quant
Jerk and Radio Caroline
"Caroline" no "Caroline"
It's made in England

Accordéon qui balance
Les gauloises et la pétanque

Et Maurice Chevalier
C'est made in France

Les français les anglais
Peuvent toujours essayer
Ils ne seront jamais
Jamais pareils, pareils, pareils, pareils, pareils

Les beatniks aux cheveux longs
Like the young Napoléon
Les Dollies pas compliquées
Difficult à expliquer
It's made in England

Les guitares romantiques
The sono no terrific
Oh ! My darling I love you
Mon amour, mon amour
C'est made in France

Entre Londres et Calais
Il y a un fossé
Un si petit bateau
Et puis de l'eau, de l'eau, de l'eau, de l'eau, de l'eau

Mini jupes et maxi bottes
Liberty jusqu'à non-stop
Burlington, Julie Christie
And the Salvation army
It's made in England

Le Beaujolais, le pastis
Les British promènent à Nice
Et le tunnel sous la Manche
But the tunnel sous la Manche
C'est made in France

No, made in England
Non, made in France
No, made in England
Non, made in France...

L'instant Présent

L'instant Présent
((Italian Version: Questo Momento (by Charles Aznavour))
Composer(s): Charles Aznavour
Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

Manchmal schmiegst du dich an mich

Machmal schmiegst du dich an mich

L'instant D'amour

L'instant D'amour
Composer(s): Francis Cabrel
Performer(s): Francis Cabrel

L'instant d'amour

Maintenant on prend
