The Frog Song

The Frog Song
Performer(s): Vernon Dalhart

I'm a little merry frog
And I am another
That old lady on the log
She's our darling mother
Father had his legs cut off
And the Frenchmen ate them
Naughty wicked cannibals!
How we froggies hate them!
Knee deep, Knee deep
Nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep
We're a pair of happy froggies
Singing in the ponds and boggies
Knee deep, Knee deep
Nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep

When we see a naughty boy, in we go, kah-chung
Good Saint Patrick, so they say
Kicked us out of Erin
But we're mighty glad to stay
In the land that we're in
If the naughty boys would be
And quit their naughty throwin'
There's one now-- Good gracious me!
We had best be goin'!
Knee deep, knee deep
Beh-dah-dee, beh-dah-dee
Beh-dah-dee, beh-dah-dee

We're a pair of happy froggies
Singing in the ponds and boggies
Knee deep, Knee deep
Nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep
When we see a naughty boy, in we go, kah-choo
We once had a brother too
Cute and cunnin' feller
He was spotted green and blue
And a muddy yeller
Every night he'd serenade
And the air he'd fill it
A Frenchman ended his career
Put him in a skillet
Knee deep, knee deep
Beh-dah-dee, beh-dah-dee
Beh-dah-dee, beh-dah-dee

We're a pair of happy froggies
Singing in the ponds and boggie
Knee deep, Knee deep
Nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep
When we see a naughty boy
In we go, Kah-chook
And we had a cute sister
Her legs were so pretty
Then one day why we missed her
Wasn't it a pity
Cannibals came out our way
Blinded little sister
And they stuck some thing in her
That was when we missed her
Knee deep, Knee deep, Knee deep
Nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep nee-deep

For Once In My Life

For Once In My Life
Composer(s): Ronald Norman Miller; Orlando Murden
Performer(s): Tony Bennett;
and various other artists

For once in my life I've got someone who needs me
Someone I've needed so long
For once unafraid I can go where life leads me
And somehow I know I'll be strong

For once I can touch what my heart used to dream of
Long before I knew
Someone warm like you
Could make my dreams come true
For once in my life I won't let sorrow hurt me
Not like it's hurt me before
For once I've got someone I know won't desert me
And I'm not alone anymore

For once I can say: "This is mine you can't take it"
As long as I've got love I know I can make it
For once in my life I've got someone who needs me

The Friday Song

The Friday Song (aka Shanty)
Composer(s): Jonathan Edwards
Performer(s): Jonathan Edwards
and multiple other artists

Gonna sit down in the kitchen and fix me something good to eat
and make my head a little high and make this whole day complete
cuz we gonna lay around the shanty mama and put a good buzz on

Well pass it to me baby, pass it to me slow
we'll take time out to smile a little before we let it go
cuz we gonna lay around the shanty mama and put a good buzz on

Well there ain't nothin' to do and there's always room for more
fill it, light it, shut up and close the door
cuz we gonna lay around the shanty mama and put a good buzz on

We gonna sit around the kitchen fix us somethin' good to eat
and make ourselves a little high and make the whole day complete
cuz we gonna lay around the shanty mama and put a good buzz on

Ev'ry night and day (if I can help it)
We're gonna lay around the shanty momma, and put a good buzz on

Ce Petit Chemin

Ce Petit Chemin Composer(s): Mireille Darc - Jean Franc Nohain Performer(s): Mireille Darc and multiple other artists

Me dégoûtent

Trois baisers
Sur tes cheveux frisés...
Et puis sur
Ta figure
Toutes barbouillée de mûres...
Pour nous observer, des milliers d'insectes
Se sont installés par dessus nos têtes
Mais un lièvre au passage
Nous a dit "Soyez sages!"
Ne crains rien
Prends ma main
Dans ce petit chemin!

For Ol' Times Sake

For Ol' Times Sake
Composer(s): Tony Joe White
Performer(s): Elvis Presley;
Mitchell John; Tony Joe White

Before you go walk out on me
Take a look around tell me what you see
Here I stand like an open book
Is there something here you might have overlooked
'Cause it would be a shame if you should leave
And find that freedom ain't what you thought it would be

The years we had were not all bad
In fact I know the good outweighed the bad
Now you say that you've grown tired
You want to be by yourself a while
It would be a shame if you should go
And find that freedom was a long, long time ago

I know that you can't stand the chains that bind you
They just keep on drivin' us apart
You could go where I could never find you
But could you go far enough to get away from your heart

So one more time, for ol' times sake
Come and lay your head upon my chest
Please don't throw this moment away
We can forget the bad and take the best
If you don't have nothing left to say
Let me hold you one more time for ol' times sake

If you don't have nothing left to say
Let me hold you one more time for ol' times sake

The Freshman Year

The Freshman Year
Composer(s): Ken Albers - Bill Cormstock
Performer(s): The Four Freshmen

Autumn, hayrides, winter sleighrides in the snow
Every moment's a souvenir of our wonderful freshman year
Springtime dances, new romances come and go
And each memory brings a tear for our wonderful freshman year
Tho graduation day will pass and friends may drift apart
The warm and happy freshman year will live within my heart
We'll remember each September
And you know all the days were so sweet and dear in our wonderful freshman year
We'll remember one September that set our hearts aglow
All the days were so sweet and dear in our wonderful freshman year

Ce N'est Rien Que Du Vent

Ce N'est Rien Que Du Vent Composer(s): Joe Dassin - Pierre Delanoë - Claude Lemesle Performer(s): Joe Dassin

De l'alcool et du brouillard
J'en ai plein la tête
Et dans la lumière noire
Je me vois danser

Je me sens bien contre toi, on n'a rien dit encore

For No One

For No One
Composer(s): John Lennon; Paul McCartney
Performer(s): The Beatles;
and various other artists

Your day breaks, your mind aches
You find that all her words
of kindness linger on
When she no longer needs you
She wakes up, she makes up
She takes her time and doesn't
feel she has to hurry
She no longer needs you

And in her eyes, you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You want her, you need her
And yet you don't believe her
When she says her love is dead
You think she needs you

And in her eyes, you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You stay home, she goes out
She says that long ago she knew someone
but now he's gone
She doesn't need him
your day breaks, your mind aches
There will be times when all the things
she said will fill your head
You won't forget her

And in her eyes, you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

The French Song

The French Song
Composer(s): Larry Vincent - Harry Pease
Performer(s): The Sandpipers
and multiple other artists

Une voix me rappelle toujours

Now when the Sun says good day to the mountains
And the night says hello to the dawn
I'm alone with my dreams on the hilltop
I can still hear his voice though he's gone

I hear from my door the lovesongs through the wind
It brings back sweet memories of you

Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes
Je suis seule
Je ne veux penser qu'à toi

Ce N'est Rien

Ce N'est Rien ((Dutch Version: Het Is Waar (Conny Vandenbos) - 1974)) Composer(s): Étienne Roda-Gil - Julien Clerc First release by: Julien Clerc - 1971 Covered by multiple other artists

Ce n'est rien
Tu le sais bien
Le temps passe
Ce n'est rien

Tu sais bien

For My Lady

For My Lady
Composer(s): Ray Thomas
Performer(s): The Moody Blues

My boat sails stormy seas
Battles oceans filled with tears
At last my port's in view
Now that I've discovered you

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady
Give it freely and completely
To my lady

As life goes drifting by
Like a breeze she'll gently sigh
And slowly bow her head
Then you'll hear her softly cry.

Words that you say when we're alone
Though actions speak louder than words
But all I can say is I love you so
To drive away all my hurt

Set sail towards the sun
Feel the warmth that's just begun
Share each and every dream
They belong to everyone

The French Can-Can Polka

The French Can-Can Polka
Composer: Jacques Offenbach - Jimmy Kennedy
Performer(s): Billy Cotton
and multiple other artists

I can-can and you can-can
So why should not we two can-can
Who can-can like you can-can
Who can do can-can like you can
To the tune they can-can to
We'll polka while we parley-vous
Few can-can like you can-can
In the Can-Can Polka

One hop, two hop
Knee up high and wave your toes
One shake, two shake
That's the way this polka goes
One kick, two kick
Simple when you know the trick
Turn round, bend down
In the Can-Can polka

They do it in the follies
All the Frenchy Dollies
Looking frilly in their frilly foll-dee-rollies
Dressed only in their flounces
Everybody bounces
When they do the polka to the can-can

I can-can and you can-can
So why should not we two can-can
Who can-can like you can-can
Who can do can-can like you can
To the tune they can-can to
We'll polka while we parley-vous
Few can-can like you can-can
In the Can-Can Polka

They do it in the follies
All the Frenchy Dollies
Looking frilly in their frilly foll-dee-rollies
Dressed only in their flounces
Everybody bounces
When they do the polka to the can-can

I can-can and you can-can
So why should not we two can-can
Who can-can like you can-can
Who can do can-can like you can
To the tune they can-can to
We'll polka while we parley-vous
Few can-can like you can-can

The Free Electric Band

The Free Electric Band
Composer(s): Albert Hammond - Mike Hazelwood
Performer(s): Albert Hammond; Ray Conniff & The Singers

My father is a doctor he's a family man
my mother works for charity whenever she can
and they're both good clean americans who abide by the law
and they both stick up for liberty and they both support the war
my happiness was paid for when they laid their money down
for summers in a summer camp and winters in the town
my future in the system was talked about and planned
but I gave it up for music and The Free Electric Band

I went to school in handwashed shirts with neatly ordered hair
and the school was big and newly built and filled with light and air
and the teachers taught us values that we had to learn to keep
and they'd clip the ear of any idle kid who went to sleep
my father organised for me a college in the east
but I went to California the sunshine and the beach
my parents and my lecturers could never understand
why I gave it up for music and The Free Electric Band

well they used to sit and speculate upon their son's career
a lawyer or a doctor or a civil engineer
just give me bread and water put a guitar in my hand
cos all I need is music and The Free Electric Band

my father sent me money and I spent it very fast
on a girl I met in Berkeley in a social science class
yes and we learnt about her body but her mind we didn't know
until deep rooted attitudes and morals began to show
she wanted to get married even though she never said
but I knew her well enough by now to see inside her head
she'd settle for suburbia and a little patch of land
so I gave her up for music and The Free Electric Band

ooh... The Free Electric Band...

Ce N'est Pas Une Vie

Ce N'est Pas Une Vie Composer(s): Charles Aznavour Performer(s): Charles Aznavour; Waldir Calmon

Ce n'est pas une vie
De passer ton son temps
Dans les bains de vapeur
Chez les masseurs sauvages
En craignant sans répit
Qu'un fil de cheveux blanc
Trahisse à tout moment
La teinture et son âge
Ce n'est pas une vie
De te priver de tout
Et de crever de faim
Quand les autres déjeunent
Comptant les calories
Comme on compte ses sous
Pour paraître plus fin
Et te prétendre jeune
Ce n'est pas une vie
De croire qu'il te faut
Pour tromper les années
Te confier à l'adresse
D'un as chirurgien
Qui sait tirer les peaux
Comme pour les tanner
Et rendre la jeunesse

Ce n'est pas une vie
Courir les discothèques
Affublé des vieux jean
Qui boudine et bedonne
Et gaspiller tes nuits
Et ton argent avec
Pour bluffer des gamines
Et ne duper personne
Ce n'est pas une vie
De donner à ton coeur
Qui est loin d'être neuf
Des fatigues abusives
Par des acrobaties
Pour prouver ta vigueur
En soufflant comme un boeuf
À chaque tentative
Ce n'est pas une vie
D'honorer la beauté
Et de rater son but
Notre amour propre flambe
On reste sur le lit
Fumant l'air détaché
Mais toute honte bue
Et l'âge entre les jambes

Ce n'est pas une vie
Tout imbibé d'alcool
D'entrer au petit jour
Chez toi à quatre pattes
Fouiller la pharmacie
Le foie au vitriol
Croyant trouver secours
Dans la bicarbonate
Ce n'est pas une vie
Et ça ne sert à rien
D'aller contre le temps
Inconscient et frivole
Ça va pour aujourd'hui
Mais qui sait si demain
Tu n'iras pas bavant
Aux sorties des écoles
Garde ta dignité
Et dis-toi qu'après tout
Chaque âge a ses trésors
Ses printemps, ses folies
Être et avoir été
N'est qu'un rêve de fou
Mais passé l'âge d'or
Le rêve c'est la vie

For My Broken Heart

For My Broken Heart
Composer(s): Liz Hengber; Keith Palmer
Performer(s): Reba McEntire;
The Countdown Singers; Hit Crew

There were no angry words at all
As we carried boxes down the hall
One by one we put them in your car
Nothing much for us to say
One last goodbye and you drove away
I watched your tail-lights
As they faded in the dark
I couldn't face the night in that lonely bed
So I laid down on the couch instead

Last night I prayed the Lord my soul to keep
Then I cried myself to sleep
So sure life wouldn't go on without you
But oh this sun is blinding me
As it wakes me from the dark
I guess the world didn't stop
For my broken heart

Clocks still tickin, life goes on
Radio still plays a song
As I try to put my scattered thoughts in place
And it takes all the strength I've got
To stumble to the coffee pot
The first of many lonely mornings I've got to face
You call to see if I'm ok
Look out the window and I just say

Last night I prayed the Lord my soul to keep
Then I cried myself to sleep
So sure life wouldn't go on without you
But oh this sun is blinding me
As it wakes me from the dark
I guess the world didn't stop
For my broken heart

I guess the world ain't gonna stop
For my broken heart

The Free And Easy

The Free And Easy
Composer(s): Roy Turk - Fred Ahlert
Performer(s): Ambrose & His Band

Free and easy
Smell the floor with wax
Let yourself relax
Loosen up your backs
Free and easy

Starting breezy
Let your elbows sag
Let your tootsies drag
Like you've hired a flag (?)
Free and easy

Slavin'
Bravin'
One foot in the grave n'
Grab yourself a partner now

Slow go
Showgirls
Never had a beau girls
Here's your only chance and how

If you please-ly
While the music plays
You can dance for days
To the lazy craze
Free and easy

Il faut aussi me plaire
Êtr' mon fils ce n'est pas tout
Il faut me plaire itou

Il faut me plaire itou
Trouver son père sympathique
C'est pas automatique
Avoir un fils qui nous agrée
Ce n'est pas assuré

L'enfant naturel, l'orphelin

Il faut me plaire itou
Trouver son père sympathique
C'est pas automatique
Avoir un fils qui nous agrée
Ce n'est pas assuré

C'est pas un compte personnel
Que je règle; mon paternel
Brave vieux, me plaisait beaucoup
Etait tout à fait à mon goût
Quant à moi qui, malgré des tas
De galipettes de fada
N'ai point engendré de petits
J'n'ai pas pu faire d'abrutis

Ce n'est pas tout d'être mon père
Il faut aussi me plaire
Êtr' mon fils ce n'est pas tout
Il faut me plaire itou
Trouver son père sympathique
C'est pas automatique
Avoir un fils qui nous agrée
Ce n'est pas assuré
