    The Piccolino
    Composer(s): Irving Berlin
    Performer(s): Fred Astaire
    and multiple other artists

    By the Adriatic waters
    Venetian sons and daughters
Are strumming a new tune upon their guitars
It was written by a Latin, a gondolier who sat in
His home out in Brooklyn and gazed at the stars

He sent his melody across the sea to Italy
And we know they wrote some words to fit that catchy bit
    And christened it the Piccolino
And we know that it's the reason why
Everyone this season is strumming and humming a new melody

Come to the Casino and hear them play the Piccolino
Dance with your bambino to the strains of the catchy Piccolino
Drink your glass of vino and when you've had your plate of scallopino
Make them play the Piccolino, the catchy Piccolino
And dance to the strains of that new melody, the Piccolino

You don't need to ask me if I'll be your friend
    I am
    I am
You don't need to ask me if I'm sure my friend
    I am
    I am your friend
    You must remember me
I'm the one who saw through the world's disguise
Took away its cloak and I made it hide
    From me
    Remember me?
Walking on this earth finding you
    You, you
Walking on this earth finding you
    You, you
    What can I say
You don't need to find the words to say what's on your mind
If you need a reason to begin again
    I am
    I am
You will find an answer at your journey's end
    I am
    Waiting there my friend
    You must remember me
I'm the one who knew you when
I'm the one you call your friend
    Feel free
    Remember me
Walking on this earth finding you
    You, you
Walking on this earth finding you
    You, you
    What can I say
You don't need to find the words to say what's on your mind

    You, you
Walking on this earth finding you
    You, you

The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me)
    Composer(s): Tom Waits
First release by: Tom Waits - 1976

The piano has been drinking, my necktie is asleep
And the combo went back to New York, the jukebox has to take a leak
And the carpet needs a haircut, and the spotlight looks like a prison break
And the telephone's out of cigarettes, and the balcony is on the make
And the piano has been drinking, the piano has been drinking...

And the menus are all freezing, and the light man's blind in one eye
And he can't see out of the other
And the piano-tuner's got a hearing aid, and he showed up with his mother
And the piano has been drinking, the piano has been drinking
As the bouncer is a Sumo wrestler cream-puff casper milktoast
And the owner is a mental midget with the I.Q. of a fence post
'Cause the piano has been drinking, the piano has been drinking...

And you can't find your waitress with a Geiger counter
And she hates you and your friends and you just can't get served without her
And the box-office is drooling, and the bar stools are on fire
And the newspapers were fooling, and the ash-trays have retired
'Cause the piano has been drinking, the piano has been drinking
The piano has been drinking, not me, not me, not me, not me, not me

Cinderella Composer(s): Paul Anka - Gerry Roslie First release by: The Sonics - 1965 Covered by multiple other artists

Cinderella, Cinderella, Cinderella, hurry, hurry home
    Cinderella, Cinderella, pretty, pretty Cinderella
It’s late now, it’s late now
While you’re lips were kissing mine
I forgot to watch the time
    I’m sorry
    I’m sorry

    Cinderella, Cinderella, pretty, pretty Cinderella
    I promised, I promised
I promised we’ll be home in time
I bet you don’t think it was just a line
    Cinderella

Twelve o’clock, twelve o’clock, was what we we’re bargain for
What am I gonna tell your mum and dad
When we’re at your front door

    Cinderella, Cinderella, pretty, pretty Cinderella
    Have faith now
I am sure the one above will preserve our lasting love
    Cinderella
    It’s late now ...

    Composer(s): Scotty Wiseman
    Performer(s): Willie Nelson;
Jim & Jesse; Jesse McReynolds; Ernest Tubb

The sweetest songs are sung by lovers in the moonlight
The sweetest days are the days that used to be
The saddest words I ever heard were words of parting
When you said "Sweetheart, remember me"

    Chorus:
Remember me when the candle lights are gleamin'
Remember me at the close of a long, long day
Just be so sweet when all alone you're dreamin'
Just to know you still remember me

A brighter face may take my place when we're apart, dear
A brighter smile an' a love more bold and free
But in the end, fair weather friends may break your heart, dear
An' if they do, sweetheart, remember me

    Chorus:
Remember me when the candle lights are gleamin'
Remember me at the close of a long, long day
Just to be so sweet when all alone you're dreamin'
Just to know you still remember me

You told me once you were mine alone forever
You were mine till the end of eternity
But now it's over, dear, and we can never
Be the same except in memory

    Chorus:
Remember me when the candle lights are gleamin'
Remember me at the close of a long, long day
Just be so sweet when all alone you're dreamin'
Just to know you still remember me

    This is a mercy mission
From a faceless messenger who don't wanna see you hit
Here's the word, listen to it
Somebody that you used to know is back in town
    You better go

    This is a mercy mission
A voice you'll never hear again from a southside call box
Winged demons are the hardest to outfox
The same one you lost on the run
Gonna show you that it ain't no fun

You better get out of town you're gonna get hit
I didn't mean to get you...

    This is a mercy mission
You'll find your schedule underneath the door
All of the arrangements have been made
Major expenses have been paid as you know
    Don't forget the last detail
Accept no parcels in the mail

Cinderella Composer(s): Jack Ross - E. Nemeth Performer(s): Jack Ross

Here is a tale to make your cresh fleep
    It`ll give you poose gimples
It`s a story for fee bolk and biggle toe peep

That`s wee folk and bigger people too
It`s a story about Cinderella who lived in a big hark douse
with her mean old mepstother and her two sisty uglers
And they made Cinderella do all the worty dirk
while they sat around cheating ocolates and magging ridazines

And one day when Cinderella was in the kitchen, flopping the moor
the two sisty uglers came in and said
    Guess what?
The prandsome hince is frowing a bancy thress drall and we`re invited
It`s too bad that you can`t go
So Cinderella went back into the kitchen with ears in her teyes
And she was just about to chicassee a fricken
when suddenly there was a linding blash of flight
and standing next to her was a feautiful bairy

    And Cinderella said
Who are you and what do you want?
    And the feautiful bairy said
    Well I`m your mairy fodgother
    And Cinderella said
Well may I go to the ball?
    And the fairy said
Well that`s quite a wish but she said
    Okay
So she waved her magic wand
instantly Cinderella was transfomed into a bavishing reauty
She had long white gatin sown and a necklace of pubies and rearls
And on her feet were two tiny sass glippers

    And the fairy said
You may go, but you must promise to be mome by hidnight
    And Cinderella said
    Okay
So she was off and soon she cast to the came-le
    That`s came to the castle
And Cinderella jumped out and the first two people she ran into were the two sisty uglers..
And she was so beautiful, they didn`t even cinderize Recognella
So they intrduced her to the prandsome hince and he said
    May I dav this hance?
    He said
You`re so beautiful you remind me of Beeping Sleauty

He was just about to ask for her mare in handage, when suddenly the strock clarted to trike swelve and Cinderella ban from the rall
But as she did one of the sass glippers flipped from her soot
The prandsome hince picked it up and said
Now all I have to do is find the woman whose soot this flipper sits and I`ll know who I`ve lallen in fove
So the next day he went from house to house
And you can`t turn that around!
And soon he came to the cin where House-derella lived and he docked on the knoor

And who should come to the door but the two sisty uglers
and he says I`m looking for the woman who`s soot this flipper sits
Well of course their beet were too fig
But then it was Cinderella`s turn and guess what?
    The flipper pitted serfectly!
They were married and happed livilly ever after and that`s the end of the story of Cinderella...
But you see there`s a moral to this fairy tale because Cinderella never gave up!
And as you walk down the pathway of life, never give up!

    Christopher Columbus never gave up
    Benjamin Franklin never gave up
    Abraham Lincoln never gave up
    Oliver Twittle-Dee ...
    Who`s He?
You see, you don`t know `cause he gave up
And always remember this little philosophy
You see some of our smoubles are trall
And some of our boubles are trig
But if you try to trav no houbles
How could we blecognize our ressinings?

    I can't conceal
    The way I feel
It's time for me to go

    Don't ask me why
    Don't even try
To stop me as I go

    I'll be back somewhere, someway
    don't feel alone
    One fine day
    you'll heard me say
    "darlin' I'm home"

I will love you all my life
    Just one thing i pray
When you dream of me each night
    Remember me this way

    A tear that falls
    A voice that calls
Is all i've left to you

    A last goodbye
    The tears I cry
    I dedicate to you

I'll just go on missing you
    So, until then
I'll just dream of kissing you
    again and again

I will love you all my life
    Just one thing i pray
When you dream of me each night
    Remember me this way

I will love you all my life
    Just one thing i pray
In the stillness of the night
    Remember me this way

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
    Who was very rarely stable
Heidegger, Heidegger, was a boozy begger
Who could drink you under the table
    David Hume could out-consume
    Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
And Wittgenstein was a boozy swine
Who was just as sloshed as Schlegel
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach yer 'bout the raising of the wrist
    Socrates himself was permanently pissed

John Stuart Mill of his own free will
On half a bottle o' shandy was particularly ill
Plato they say, could stick it away
Half a crate o' whisky every day
Aristotle,Aristotle, was a bugger for the bottle
    Awfully fond of his dram
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart
    "I drink therefore I am"
    Yes,Socrates himself is particularly missed
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed

    Cinderella
    Composer(s): Larry Burnett
    Performer(s): Firefall; Brother Phelps

Last December I met a girl
She took a likin' to me
    Said she loved me
But she didn't know the meaning of the word

She imagined love to be grand
    Me holdin' her hand and
    Whisperin' sweet things and
Cooin' softly like a song bird

Then one mornin' she came to me
With a tear in her eye and a
Sigh on her breath Lord she said
    "Hon I'm heavy with child"

I said "god damn girl can't you see
    That I'm breakin'my back
Just tryin' to keep my head above water
    And it's turnin' me wild"

    Cinderella can't you see
    Don't want your company
You better leave this mornin' leave today
Take your love and your child away

Rockin' chair on the front porch
I'm thinkin' about all the things that I did
    As a young man
    Now that I'm old

I remember her and the boy
Did he have all the toys and the joys
That a young man should have
    Before he gets too old

    Cinderella couldn't you see
    Didn't want your company
Shoulda left that mornin' left that day
Took your love and your child away

    Persian Kitten
    Performer(s): Phil Harris

A Persian kitten perfumed and fair
Strolled out to the kitchen door for air
A Tom cat big, light, lean and strong
And dirty and yella came along
He sniffed at the perfumed Persian cat
As she strutted around with much eclat
Then thinking a little time to pass
He whispered baby you sure got class
It's fitting and proper was her reply
As she arched the whiskers over her eye
I'm ribboned and I sleep on a pillow of silk
And daily I'm bathed in certified milk
Folks oughta be happy with what they've got
I oughta be happy, but happy I'm not
I oughta be happy yes I should indeed
    Because I'm certainly highly pedigreed
Cheer up said the tom cat with a smile
And trust your new found friend for awhile
You oughta escape from your back yard fence
Ah my dear what you need is experience
    Untold tales he then unfurled
He told her all the tales about the outside world
Suggesting at last with a luring laugh
A trip for two down Primrose Path
The morning after the night before
Our Persian came home about half passed four
The innocent look in her eye had went
But the smile on her face was the smile of content
In the after years when the children came
To this pedigreed Persian of pedigreed fame
The children weren't Persian; they were black and tan
And she told them that their Dad was a traveling man
A rootin' tootin' scratchin' traveling man

When You're Driving Through The Moonlight/A Lovely Night
Composer(s): Richard Rodgers; Oscar Hammerstein II)

    Cinderella:
    I imagine.. I imagine..
When you're driving through the moonlight on a highway
when through the moonlight to a dance you are breathless
with a wild anticipation of adventure and excitement and romance
Then at last you see the towers of the palace silouetted on the sky above the park
and below them is a row of lighted windows like a lovely diamond necklace in the dark

    Esmerelda: It looks that way

    Prunella: The way you say

Evil Stepmother: She talks as if she knows

    Cinderella:
I do not know these things are so I only just suppose
I suppose that when you come into the ballroom and the room itself is floating on the air
If you're suddenly confronted by his highness you are frozen like a statue on the stair
You're afraid he'll hear the way your heart is beating and you know you musn't make the first advance
You are seriously thinking of retreating then you seem to hear him asking you to dance
You make a bow, a timid bow, and shyly answer yes

Evil Stepmother: How would you know that this is so?

Cinderella: I do no more than guess, I do no more than guess

    Cinderella: He is tall

Esmerelda: And straight as a lance

    Cinderella: His eyes

Prunella: Can melt you with a glance

Cinderella: Yes I can picture the whole thing how you start thinking

    Esmerelda: Start thinking what?

Cinderella: Thinking how wonderful it all is

Evil Stepmother: How wonderful what all is?

    Cinderella: Everything

    Evil Stepmother:
    Enough of this nonsense
Esmerelda, Prunella, upstairs both of you and get your sleep

    Esmerelda & Prunella: Yes ma'am

    Evil Stepmother:
    Cinderella, here is your broom
    Get To Work!!!

    Cinderella:
    I don't mind sweeping
This night is mine and no one and nothing can take it from me

....A lovely night, a lovely night, a finer night you'll know you'll never see
You meet your prince, a charming prince as charming as a prince will ever be
The stars in the hazy heaven tremble above you while he is whispering darling I love you
You say goodbye, away you fly but on your lips you'll keep a kiss all your life you'll dream of this lovely, lovely night
A lovely night, a lovely night, a finer night you'll know you'll never see
You meet your prince, a charming prince as charming as a prince will ever be
The stars in the hazy heaven tremble above you while he is whispering darling I love you
You say goodbye, away you fly but on your lips you'll keep a kiss all your life you'll dream of this lovely, lovely night
You say goodbye, away you fly but on your lips you'll keep a kiss all your life you'll dream of this lovely, lovely, lovely night

    and various other artists

Do you remember one September afternoon
I stood with you and listened to a wedding tune
And didn't I go with you on your honeymoon?
    Remember me?

Do you recall a cottage small upon a hill
Where ev'ry day I had to pay another bill?
And if I'm not mistaken, dear, I pay them still
    Remember me?

I can see that little angel on your knee
Can't you see, He kinda sorta looks like me
For I'm the boy whose only joy is loving you
Who worries till he hurries home when day is thru
And I'm the guy you give your goodnight kisses to
    Remember me?

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
    Composer(s): Robbie Robertson
First release by: The Band - 1969
    Covered by multiple other artists

Virgil Caine is the name and I served on the Danville train
'Til Stoneman's cavalry came and tore up the tracks again
In the winter of '65, we were hungry, just barely alive
By May the tenth, Richmond had fell
It's a time I remember, oh so well

The night they drove old Dixie down
    And the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
    And the people were singing
    They went, "La, la, la"

Back with my wife in Tennessee, when one day she called to me
"Virgil, quick, come see, there go the Robert E.Lee"
Now I don't mind choppin' wood, and I don't care if the money's no good
Ya take what ya need and ya leave the rest
But they should never have taken the very best

The night they drove old Dixie down
    And the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And all the people were singing
    They went, "La, la, la"

Like my father before me, I will work the land
And like my brother above me, who took a rebel stand
He was just eighteen, proud and brave, but a Yankee laid him in his grave
I swear by the mud below my feet
You can't raise a Caine back up when he's in defeat

The night they drove old Dixie down
    And the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And all the people were singing
    They went, "Na, na, na"

The night they drove old Dixie down
And all the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
    And the people were singing
    They went, "Na, na, na"

    The Adultress
    Composer(s): Chrissie Hynde
    Performer(s): The Pretenders

    I'm the adultress
But I didn't want to be and I'm convenient
    And I make good tea
    I stand accused
Of the worst crime in history
    That's my mystery
    I'm the adultress

    I go to the park
With a bag of crumbs for the birds
That's where we meet without words
    He takes my hand
    And stares into the wood
    There's nothing to understand
    It's understood
    I'm the adultress

    Look at the fool
    Made up to go out
    She's desperate and lonely
    But she's puttin' it about
    Look at the spinster
    Comin' down off the shelf
She's in love and she hates herself

    Don't try to stop me
    Don't get in my way
    It's too late
    I've made my play
    Does misery love company
    I'll be in the bar
    You'll find me

    Bye baby, see you around
    Didn't I tell you I wouldn't hold you down
Take good care of yourself, y'hear
Don't let me hear about you shedding a tear
    You're gonna make it
    You're gonna take it

Remember me as a sunny day
That you once had, along the way
    Didn't I inspire you a little higher
Remember me as a funny clown
That made you laugh when you were down
    Didn't I boy, didn't I boy

Remember me as a big balloon
At a carnaval that ended too soon
Remember me as a breath of spring
Remember me as a good thing

    Bye baby, see you around
I already know about the new love you've found
What can I do but wish you well
What we had was really swell
I won't forget it, I have no regrets

Remember me as a sound of laughter
And my face the morning after
Didn't the sky beckon us to fly?
Yes, you'l remember the times we fought
But don't forget me in your tender thoughts
    Please darlin' oh yeah

Remember me when you drink the wine
Of sweet succes and I gave you my best
Remember me every song you sing
Remember me as a good thing

Remember me as a sunny day
Please darling, remember me as a good thing
Remember me when you drink the wine
Remember me as a good thing
Remember me as a big balloon
    Don't forget me darling

The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia
    Composer(s): Bobby Russell
First release by: Vicki Lawrence - 1972

He was on his way home from Candletop
Been two weeks gone and he thought he'd stop
At William's and have him a drink 'fore he went home to her
    Andy Wolloe said "Hello"
And he said "Hi, what's doin', Wo?"
"Seth, sit down, I got some bad news, it's gonna hurt"
He said "I'm your best friend and you know that's right"
"But your young bride ain't home tonight"
"Since you been gone she's been seein' that Amos boy, Seth"
Well, he got mad 'n' he saw red and Andy said "Boy, don'tcha lose your head"
"'Cause to tell ya the truth, I been with her myself"

That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Well, don't trust your soul to no backwoods Southern lawyer
'cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands

Well, Andy got scared and left the bar
Walkin' on home 'cause he didn't live far
See, Andy didn't have many friends and he'd just lost him one
Brother thought his wife musta left town
So he went home and finally found
The only thing Papa had left him, that was a gun

And he went off to Andy's house
A'skippin' through the backwoods quiet as a mouse
Came upon some tracks too small for Andy to make
He looked through the screen at the back-porch door
And he saw Andy lyin' on the floor
In a puddle of blood and he started to shake

Well, the Georgia Patrol was a'makin' their rounds
So he fired a shot just to flag 'em down
And a big-bellied sheriff got his gun and said "why'dya do it?"
And the judge said "Guilty" in a make-believe trial
And slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile
Said' supper's waitin' at home and I gotta get to it"

That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Well, don't trust your soul to no backwoods Southern lawyer
'cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands

Well, they hung my brother before I could say
The tracks he saw while on his way
To Andy's house and back that night were mine
And his cheatin' wife had never left town
And that's one body that'll never be found
See, little sister don't miss when she aims her gun

That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia, oh-oh-aah
That's the night that they hung an innocent man, ah-huh-unh
Well, don't trust your soul to no backwoods Southern lawyer

'Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands

The Night The Floor Fell In
    Composer(s): Ken Wheeley
Performer(s): Billy Cotton & His Band

Charlie and his missus were a happy-go-lucky pair
They threw a party every Saturday night
With all of their relations, like the league of nations there
It nearly always ended in a fight
But there was one occasion on which they did agree
And then they brought the house down with their joviality

    They danced the boomps-a-daisy
    And then the palais glide
    They did the hokey-cokey
    And laughed until they cried
And when they had a knees-up
    And everyone joined in
The only night they never fell out
    The blinkin’ floor fell in

Oh my, it wasn’t half a do
    With everybody happy
Though they were black and blue
Oh my, it really was a sin
The only night they never fell out
The night the floor fell in

    Now Mrs. Brown was bending
    To button up her shoe
    Just then the carpet parted
    And she went sailing through
    They heard her saying after
She put her teeth back in
“The only time they ever fell out
    The blinkin’ floor fell in”

Oh my, it wasn’t half a do
    With everybody happy
Though they were black and blue
Oh my, it really was a sin
The only night they never fell out
The night the floor fell in

    An old cowpoke was sleeping
    Down in the room below
    A-dreamin’ of the dogies
And cows he used to know
    And then the ceiling opened
    He got an awful fright
He said, “Them riders in the sky
    Is ridin’ low tonight”

Oh my, it wasn’t half a do
    With everybody happy
Though they were black and blue
Oh my, it really was a sin
The only night they never fell out
The night the floor fell in

    Now Charlie learnt his lesson
Like all good men and true
When he was at a party
He knew just what to do
    If anyone was fighting
    He covered up his chin
And for a dance he padded his pants
In case the floor fell in

Oh my, it wasn’t half a do
    With everybody happy
Though they were black and blue
Oh my, it really was a sin
The only night they never fell out
I wondered what all the noise was about
The only night they never fell out
The night the floor fell in
