The Ballad Of The Shape Of Things
    Composer(s): Sheldon Harnick
    Performer(s): The Kingston Trio

Completely round is the perfect pearl
    The oyster manufactures
Completely round is the steering wheel
    That leads to compound fractures
Completely round is the golden fruit
That hangs from the orange tree
Yes, the circle shape is quite renowned
And sad to say, it can be found
In the low down, dirty runaround
My true love gave to me, yes
My true love gave to me

Completely square is the velvet box
He said my ring would be in
    Completely square is the envelope
He said farewell to me in
    Completely square is the handkerchief
    I flourish constantly
As I dry my eyes of the tears I shed
And blow my nose that turned bright red
Completely square is my true love's head
He will not marry me, no, he will not marry me

    Rectangular is the hotel door
My true love tried to sneak through
    Rectangular is the transom
Over which I had to peek through
Rectangular is the hotel room I entered angrily
And rectangular is the wooden box
Where lies my love neath the golden phlox
They say he died from the chicken pox
In part I must agree: one chick too many had he!

Triangular is the piece of pie
I eat to ease my sorrow
    Triangular is the hatchet blade
    I plan to hide tomorrow
    Triangular the relationship
That now has ceased to be
And triangular is the garment thin
That fastens on with a safety pin
To a prize I had no wish to win
It's a lasting memory that my true love gave to me

    Camouflage
    Composer(s): Berry Gordy Jr.
    Performer(s): The Temptations

    Yes, I'm smiling
    Everytime you pass me by
I know you wonder, why I never cry
But let me tell you, happiness (Happiness)
    My happiness (Happiness)
    Is just a camouflage (Camouflage)
They call me the joker (I'm a joker)
    'Cause I... I always play
    But I'm just a clown (I'm a clown)
'Cause I'm really not that way
    'Cause all my happiness (Happiness)
    My happiness (Happiness)
    Oh, is just a camouflage
(Open your eyes and see I'm crying)
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying)
(Open your eyes and see I'm crying)
    Wee-Ooo (Hey, hey, hey)

They call me the joker (The joker)
    'Cause I... I always play
    But I'm just a clown (I'm just a clown)
'Cause I'm really not that way
    'Cause all my happiness (Happiness)
    My happiness (Happiness)
    Oh, is just a camouflage
(Open your eyes and see I'm crying) I love you
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying) Oh, yes I do
(Open your eyes and see I'm crying) Ooo, baby
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying) Ooo, baby
(Open your eyes and see I'm crying) I gotta broken heart
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying) I've got a broken heart
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying) Just a care of love
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying) Just a care of love
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying) I gotta broken heart
(Open your eyes and see I'm dying) I've got a broken heart

    Farther Along
    (Traditional)
    Performer(s): Elvis Presley; The Byrds

(We'll understand it all by and by)

Tempted and tried we're oft' made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long
While there are others living about us
Never molested, though in the wrong

Farther along we'll know more about it
    Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brother, live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by

When death has come and taken our loved ones
Leaving our homes so lonely and drear
Then do we wonder how others prosper
Living so wicked year after year

Farther along we'll know more about it
    Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brother, live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by

Ballad Of The One Eyed Jacks
    Composer(s): Morgan
    Performer(s): Johnny Burnette

A one-eyed Jack rode to Monterey in the heat of the blazing sun
When Sheriff Longworth saw Kid Rio, he strapped on his fast gun
The sheriff didn't trust the one eyed Jack nor the deadly smile he wore
An' when that night he shamed Louisa, in vengeance the sheriff swore

Beware of the one-eyed Jacks, especially if they're wild
One-eyed Jacks are deadly, even when they smile
Never trust a one-eyed Jack with his cold, cold heart of stone
He will only show one side to you, for his soul is the devil's own

Ten cracks of the sheriff's whip cut deep
    The pain-filled Rio cursed
"You'd better kill me while you can or I will get you first"
The angry sheriff raised his gun butt high, then smashed Rio's trigger hand
"You're done for now, you one-eyed Jack, you will kill no other man"

Beware of the one-eyed Jacks, especially if they're wild
One-eyed Jacks are deadly, even when they smile
Never trust a one-eyed Jack with his cold, cold heart of stone
He will only show one side to you, for his soul is the devil's own

The creaky iron doors slammed shut tight
    The one-eyed Jack was jailed
With Louisa's help he soon escaped for his true love had not failed
The horses rode off with the lovers two as the smokin' six guns burst
The sheriff aimed his gun at the one-eyed Jack, but the one-eyed Jack shot first

Beware of the one-eyed Jacks, especially if they're wild
One-eyed Jacks are deadly, even when they smile
Never trust a one-eyed Jack with his cold, cold heart of stone
He will only show one side to you, for his soul is the devil's own

Cammina Cammina ((French Version: Mamina (by Pascal Danel)) Performer(s): Dalida

Verso il sole se ne va
Di lui il mondo che ne sà
    Io soltanto soffriro
    Sono l'ultima che amo

    Cammina, Cammina

    Che cercava non so più
Io gli ho dato un po di più
Il moi letto e un po di me
    Senza capire poi perchè

    Cammina, Cammina

    Mi ha lasciato le parole
Le mie tristezze stese al sole
Mi ha lasciato con il grano
Ma il cuore moi è lontano

    Lui che aveva nelle mani
Uno a uno i miei domani
    Nel vento tiepido di maggio
    Senza coraggio se ne và

    Cammina, Cammina

    Mi ha lasciato le parole
Le mie tristezze stese al sole
    Mi ha lasciato con grano
Ma il cuore moi è lontano
    Verso io, io soltanto soffriro

    Ballad Of The Blue Cyclone
    Composer(s): Glen Sutton
    Performer(s): Ray Stevens

Well, you've heard of Samson and Hercules
They both brought a lot of folks to their knees
And throughout history their legends have grown and grown
Then there was Tarzan and Superman and Captain Marvel with the cool Shazam
But there weren't even any that compare to the Blue Cyclone

In a little bar one Wedensday night, me and ole Bill was about half tight
Comparin' Dolly Pardon to Lana Turner and Liz
When Bill winked at me and downed his beer and said
"Hoss, there ain't nothin' happenin' here!"
"Let's go to the rasslin' matches where the action is!"

Well, I'd never seen the matches before and when we reached the arena door
The crowd was already backed up out in the street
And people were pushin' and shovin' like cattle
Just gettin' in line was a heck of a battle
We had to fight like hell but we finally got ring side seats

Then we bought a progam as we passed though the door
Went section D, seats three and four
And about that time the announcer stepped in the ring
He said, "Tonight's the greatest card ever been signed
We got a tag team match that'll blow yer mind!"
And they lowered the lights and the crowd began to scream

He introduced the Spider from parts unknown with his trusty partner, the Blue Cyclone
They were takin' on a team that never had been beat
Well, the ref checked 'em over the rules were explained
And somebody hollered, "The Spider's got a chain!"
And in come the Vulture with his manager, Sneaky Pete

Then they rang the bell and all hell broke loose
My legs were shakin' like a rubber goose
'Cause I'd never seen anything like this, not even in the war!
Cyclone put the Vulture in an airplane spin
Then he body slammed him then he did it again
And I swear I didn't see how that cat could take much more

Then a little old lady right next to me
Why, if she was a day, she was eighty-three
But she raised more sin than any man I've ever seen
She screamed and cussed in the Cyclone's face
Till they carried her away like a basket case
Then the po-lice came and formed a circle around the ring

Then on the second row up jumped a man
I could see a pocket knife in his hand
He hollered, "Let me in there and I'll mop up the floor!"
His wife reached up and grabbed his sleeve
And I saw him breath a sigh of releif
And then he sat down and he never did say no more

It was right about there in the thick of things
That my buddy, Bill threw a chair in the ring
And that's when I knew that we'd better head for the door
'Cause I saw that Cyclone lookin' at us and he rubbed his head and started to cuss
And I knew if he caught us he'd break Bill's neck for sure

Well, where we'd parked wasn't that far and Bill ran so fast he beat me to the car
And locked the doors and wasn't 'bout to let nobody in
And I turned around and Cyclone was there and he said
"Hey, punk! You forgot yer chair!"
And by the look in his eyes I knew that this was the end

Then he jumped up real high in the air and both feet caught me with a flyin' mare
And I saw stars when I hit that hard concrete
It broke both of my arms and three of my ribs, it's the closet thing I've come to bein' killed
That's the last thing I remember before he put me to sleep!

    Put that sleeper on me...
You know, I oughtta slam Bill! Heh! Lockin' the car doors like that!
Left me out there to fight the Cyclone by myself...
    Heh! I ain't a rassler!
I'll tell you one thing... Cyclone was lucky I was drinkin'!
Soon as I get well... He's had it!
I'll get him if it's the last thing I ever do...

Faro-La, Faro-Li (Song Of The New Wine)
Composer(s): Curt Siodmak; Hans J. Salter
    Performer(s): Adia Kuznetzoff;
    Judy Kaye And The Scarlettes

Come one and all and sing a song
    Faro-la, faro-li!
For life is short, but death is long
    Faro-la, faro-li!
There'll be no music in the tomb
So sing with joy and down with gloom
Tonight the new wine is in bloom
    Faro-la, faro-li!

Tonight we toast our happy host
    Faro-la, faro-li!
For he's the man we love the most
    Faro-la, faro-li!
    He's barrel-chested, dipper-lipped
    For drinking wine, he's well-equipped
But where's his chest? It must have slipped
    Faro-la, faro-li!

If Franzec never drank at all
    Faro-la, faro-li!
He might not care for alchohol
    Faro-la, faro-li!
But since he drinks them by the score
He loves his bottles more and more
He even likes them on the floor
    Faro-la, faro-li!

    Now here's a pair of newly-weds
    Faro-la, faro-li!
With love and kisses in their heads
    Faro-la, faro-li!
Tonight theres only he and she
Just one and two, as you can see
But very soon they may be three
    Faro-la, faro-li!

The wine tonight is nobly blessed
    Faro-la, faro-li!
By such a lady and her guest
    Faro-la, faro-li!
To them a toast, come drink with me
That they may ever happy be
    And may they live eternally
    Faro-la, faro-li!

    and multiple other artists

Paladin, Paladin, where do you roam
Paladin, Paladin, far, far from home

Have gun, will travel reads the card of a man
A knight without armour in a savage land
His fast gun for hire heeds the calling wind
A soldier of fortune is the man called Paladin

Paladin, Paladin, where do you roam
Paladin, Paladin, far, far from home

He travels on to wherever he must
A chess knight of silver is his badge of trust
There are campfire legends that the plainsmen spin
Of the man with the gun, of the man called Paladin

Paladin, Paladin, where do you roam
Paladin, Paladin, far, far from home
    Far from home
    Far from home

Camino Del Indio Composer(s): Atahualpa Yupanqui Performer(s): Atahualpa Yupanqui and multiple other artists

    Caminito del indio
    sendero coya sembrao de piedras
    caminito del indio
que junta el valle con las estrellas
    Caminito que anduvo
de sur a norte mi raza vieja
    antes que en la montaña
    la Pachamama se ensombreciera

    Cantando en el cerro
    llorando en el río
    se agranda en la noche
    la pena del indio
    El sol y la luna
    y este canto mío
    besaron tus piedras

Now it is dawn and a new day is born
But with a trail of despair
The new day was shining but many had gone
Farmer Ferdinand Hudson had lost much more than he'd won

He sat by a table and cried in his rum

The cobwebs hung heavy and dreary beside
All that looked at him could barely decide
He passed for one day so to sleep in that night
And early that morning he died

    Ballad Of Muk Tuk Annie
Composer(s): Wilf Carter - John Klenner
    Performer(s): Stompin' Tom Connors

Yeah, let me tell you the story about Muk-Tuk Annie
Who came South to go to school
With a see-through blouse and sealskin mini
    Old Annie sure looked cool
She blew into Montreal in the early fall
    Like nothin' they'd ever seen
With long black hair and reindeer underwear
    She weighed about two-sixteen
She came a long, long way from Frobisher Bay
People, doncha know now what I mean
She had the boys all cryin' on the distant early warning line
Old Muk-Tuk Annie could really make the scene

Well she told her teacher that she wanted to dance
Said she wanted to study ballet
But she was four-foot-six with her mukluks off
And I heard her teacher say
"Now I ain't sayin' Annie that you can't dance
No, I wouldn't wanna tell you that
But I got a form here signed in triplicate
Says you gotta learn to drive a cab"
She says, "I don't wanna learn to cook or sew
Build boats or drive no cab
'Cause I came South to sing and dance
    And groovy shit like that
'Cause I was Miss Baffin Island Beauty Queen
    For nineteen-seventy-four
And I spent a whole weekend in Grise Fiord
With the boys beatin' down the door
She came a long, long way from Frobisher Bay
People, doncha know now what I mean
She had the boys all cryin' on the distant early warning line
Old Muk-Tuk Annie could really make the scene

Well she said, "Thank you for your trouble, Sir
But I'll make it on my own
And the word spread through the North like wildfire
    "Big Annie's comin' home"
She got off o' the plane with a record player
    Ballet slippers on her toes
And she opened up a little groovy club
    Where ev'rybody comes and goes
She got Old Stompin' Tom on the record player
And she serves good booze and grub
And the folks around Baffin Island
Figure it's better'n any old Playboy club
You can drink tea, beer and anti-freeze
Till you fall right off o' your feet
And there's seal flippers and potato chips
When you feel like somethin' to eat
She came a long, long way from Frobisher Bay
People, doncha know now what I mean
She had the boys all cryin' on the distant early warning line
Old Muk-Tuk Annie could really make the scene

Well she packs that joint almost ev'ry night
An' folks come from miles around
And ev'ry night about ten o'clock
All the houselights are turned way down
And suddenly she's on the stage
    Wearin' that toothless grin
Short fat Annie, the Goddess o' Love
And she's gonna do her Dance of Sin
Well she jumps and shouts, and huffs and puffs
And does a little bump and grind
And all she's wearin' is them ptarmigan feathers
    Scotch-taped to her behind

Well she made about a hundred grand last year
Which wasn't too bad at all
And decided to take a little holiday
So she flew down to Montreal
It seems she ran into her teacher there
You know, the one that she met before
And she gave him a job tendin' the bar
And takin' tickets at her Nightclub door
She come a long, long way from Frobisher Bay
People, doncha know now what I mean
She had the boys all cryin' on the distant early warning line
Old Muk-Tuk Annie could really make the scene
Let me tell ya now, Muk-Tuk Annie could really make the scene
Let me tell ya now, Muk-Tuk Annie could really make the scene

    Camino De Guanajuato
    Composer(s): José Alfredo Jiménez
    Performer(s): José Alfredo Jiménez

    No vale nada la vida
    la vida no vale nada
    comienza siempre llorando
    y así llorando se acaba
por eso es que en este mundo
    la vida no vale nada

    Bonito León Guanajuato
    su feria con su jugada
    ahí se apuesta la vida
y se respeta al que gana
    allá en mi León Guanajuato
    la vida no vale nada

    Camino de Guanajuato
    que pasas por tantos pueblos
    no pases por Salamanca
que ahí me hierre el recuerdo
    vete rodeando veredas
    no pases porque me muero

    El Cristo de tu montaña
    del cerro del Cubilete
    consuelo de los que sufren
    adoración de la gente
    el Cristo de tu montaña
    del Cerro del Cubilete

    Camino de Santa Rosa
    la Sierra de Guanajuato
    ahí nomás tras lomita
    se ve Dolores Hidalgo
    ahí me quedo paisano
    ahí es mi pueblo adorado

Farewell Angelina Composer(s): Bob Dylan First release by: Joan Baez - 1965 Covered by multiple other artists Versions In Other Languages: 1967 - Adieu Angélina (by Nana Mouskouri) 1970 - Addio Angelina (by Bobby Solo) 2006 - Adjö Angelina (by Totta & Wiehe)

    Farewell Angelina
    The bells of the crown
    Are being stolen by bandits
    I must follow the sound
    The triangle tingles
    And the trumpets play slow
    Farewell Angelina
    The sky is on fire
    And I must go

    There's no need for anger
    There's no need for blame
    There's nothing to prove
    Ev'rything's still the same
    Just a table standing empty
By the edge of the sea
    Farewell Angelina
    The sky is trembling
    And I must leave

    The jacks and the queens
    Have forsaked the courtyard
    Fifty-two gypsies
    Now file past the guards
In the space where the deuce
And the ace once ran wild
    Farewell Angelina
    The sky is folding
I'll see you in a while

    See the cross-eyed pirates sitting
    Perched in the sun
    Shooting tin cans
    With a sawed-off shotgun
    And the neighbors they clap
And they cheer with each blast
    Farewell Angelina
    The sky's changing color
    And I must leave fast

    King Kong, little elves
    On the rooftops they dance
    Valentino-type tangos
    While the make-up man's hands
Shut the eyes of the dead
    Not to embarrass anyone
    Farewell Angelina
    The sky is embarassed
    And I must be gone

    The machine guns are roaring
    The puppets heave rocks
    The fiends nail time bombs
To the hands of the clocks
Call me any name you like
    I will never deny it
    Farewell Angelina
    The sky is errupting
I must go where it's quiet

    The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan
    Composer(s): Shel Silverstein
First release by: Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show - 1974
    Covered by multiple other artists

The morning sun touched lightly on
    The eyes of Lucy Jordan
    In her white suburban bedroom
    In a white suburban town
As she lay there 'neath the covers
    Dreaming of a thousand lovers
Till the world turned to orange
And the room went spinning 'round

    At the age of thirty-seven
    She realized she'd never ride
Through Paris in a sports car
With the warm wind in her hair
So she let the phone keep ringing
As she sat there, softly singing
    Little nursery rhymes she'd memorized
    In her daddy's easy chair

Her husband is off to work
And the kids are off to school
And there were, oh, so many ways
For her to spend the day
She could clean the house for hours
    Or rearrange the flowers
Or run naked through the shady streets
    Screaming all the way!

    At the age of thirty-seven
    She realized she'd never ride
Through Paris in a sports car
With the warm wind in her hair
So she let the phone keep ringing
As she sat there, softly singing
    Little nursery rhymes she'd memorized
    In her daddy's easy chair

The evening sun touched gently on
    The eyes of Lucy Jordan
On the roof top, where she climbed
When all the laughter grew too loud
And she bowed and curtsied to the man
Who reached and offered her his hand
And he led her down to the long white car
    That waited past the crowd

    At the age of thirty-seven
    She knew she'd found forever
As she rolled along through Paris
With the warm wind in her hair

    Camino De Aguascalientes
    Composer(s): José Alfredo Jiménez
    Performer(s): Yolanda del Rio

    Solito con mi caballo
    camino de Aguascalientes
    voy derechito a San Marcos
    la feria de los valientes
a ver si pierde mi gallo
    delante de tantas gentes

    Borracho y enamorado
no sé cual es mi fortuna
    me gusta el cielo nublado
    aunque se esconda la luna
    yo soy más apasionado
    cuando la noche es oscura

    Camino de Aguascalientes
    a San Marcos voy llegando
a ver si encuentro en su feria
    la dicha que ando buscando

    Amigo de los amigos
me sé jugar lo que gano
    si acaso tengo enemigos
me sé pelear mano a mano
pa'mi no hay hombre más hombre
    yo también soy mexicano

    El cielo sigue nublado
    la luna sigue escondida
    y yo sigo apasionado
    tomando mucho tequila
    queriendo echar un volado
    aunque me cueste la vida

    Camino de Aguascalientes
    a San Marcos voy llegando
a ver si encuentro en su feria
    la dicha que ando buscando

    Farewell To Tarwathie
    (Traditional)
    Performer(s): Judy Collins;
    and various other artists

    Farewell to Tarwathie
    Adieu, Mormond Hill
And the dear land of Crimmond
    I bid ye farewell
    I'm bound out for Greenland
    And ready to sail
    In hopes to find riches
    In hunting the whale

    Adieu to my comrades
For a while we must pairt
    And likewise the dear lass
    Wha fair won my hairt
    The cold ice of Greenland
    My love will not chill
    And the longer my absence
    More loving she'll feel

    Our ship is weel rigged
    And she's ready to sail
    Our crew they are anxious
    To follow the whale
    Where the icebergs do float
    And the stormy winds blaw
Where the land and the ocean
    Are covered wi' snaw

    The cold coast of Greenland
    Is barren and bare
    No seed-time or harvest
    Is ever known there
And the birds here sing sweetly
    On mountain and dale
    But there isna a birdie
    To sing to the whale

    There is no habitation
For a man to live there
And the king of that country
    Is the fierce Greenland bear
    And there'll be no temptation
    To tarry long there
Wi' our ship bumper full we
    Will homeward repair

The Ballad Of John And Yoko
((Portuguese Version: A Balada De John E Yoko (The Fevers) - 1969))
Composer(s): John Lennon - Paul McCartney
First release by: The Beatles - 1969
    Covered by multiple other artists

Standing in the dock at Southampton, trying to get to Holland or France
The man in the mac said you've got to go back
You know they didn't even give us a chance
Christ you know it ain't easy, you know how hard it can be
The way things are going, they're going to crucify me

Finally made the plane into Paris, honeymooning down by the Seine
Peter Brown call to say, you can make it O.K.
You can get married in Gibraltar near Spain
Christ you know it ain't easy, you know how hard it can be
The way things are going, they're going to crucify me

Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton, talking in our beds for a week
The newspapers said, say what're you doing in bed
I said we're only trying to get us some peace
Christ you know it ain't easy, you know how hard it can be
The way things are going, they're going to crucify me

Saving up your money for a rainy day, giving all your clothes to charity
Last night the wife said, oh boy when you're dead
You don't take nothing with you but your soul, Think!

Made a lightning trip to Vienna, eating chocolate cake in a bag
The newspapers said, she's gone to his head
They look just like to Gurus in drag
Christ you know it ain't easy, you know how hard it can be
The way things are going, they're going to crucify me

Caught the early plane back to London, fifty acorns tied in a sack
The men from the press, said we wish you success
It's good to have the both of you back
Christ you know it ain't easy, you know how hard it can be
The way things are going , they're going to crucify me

The way things are going, they're going to crucify me

Camino A Camagüey (A Isabel Santos)
    Composer(s): Silvio Rodríguez
    Performer(s): Silvio Rodríguez

    Confíame diez pesos
    que el destino travieso
    me coloca
    bien lejos de aquí

    Mañana es que me
    muevo
    y tomo el tren lechero
    a una provincia
    nueva para mí

    Un amigo distante
    escritor y comediante
me pide que le vaya a
    musicar
    la letra de su drama
    y aquí voy con buenas
    ganas
    de ayudar

    Voy atravesando
    valles
    voy parando en el
    batey
    voy fijando mil
    detalles
    voy camino a
    Camagüey

    Voy imaginando
    cantos
    voy como prefiero ir
    voy abordo del
    encanto
    voy soñando el
    porvenir

    Avisa a quién tu sabes
    y dile que la llame
    si la ve por donde
    suele estar
a ver acaso acude y se
    le va la nube
en lo que vuelvo de mi
    laborar

    La única amargura
    que me llevo a la
    aventura
    es esta majadera
    incomprensión
Ve y dile que por eso
    cuando me marche
me da un beso en mi
    canción
