Sittin' Up With The Dead Composer(s): C.W. Kalb Jr. Performer(s): Ray Stevens
Well out in the country, we didn't have mortuaries And so it was always customary For the undertaker to do his job And lay your kin out right there at home
Yeah, the church would loan you foldin' chairs And you'd have visitation and everything right there But when the nighttime came, you'd have to sit up with the dead 'Cause it wasn't right to leave them alone
Well, the last time I sat up was '65 When my old arthritic Uncle Fred died He was 97, and so stooped over The mortician couldn't straighten him out
They used a logging chain to hold him down Covered that all up with a cape and a gown And didn't tell nobody in the family Cause that's the kind of stuff folks just don't wanna know about
Well, we were all sittin' there, it was three in the mornin' And then there come up a cloud, a thunder, lightnin' and stormin' Well that lightnin' flashed and that thunder clapped And that chain 'round old Uncle Fred went snap Rattled and fell to the floor with a thump And Uncle Fred just sat right up. YEOW!
And I ain't sittin' up with the dead no more I don't know 'bout you No, I ain't sittin' up with the dead no more No matter what you say or do They say the dead can't hurt you 'cause they already left But what they left can sure make it hurt yourself And I ain't sittin' up with the dead no more Since the dead started sittin' up, too
Well, when Uncle Fred sat up, so did everyone there And there came a great partin' of the foldin' chairs And that preacher nearly knocked me down He said, "Whoa, I'm headin' out that kitchen door!"
I hollered, "Fred, that kitchen ain't got no door in it!" He said, "Don't worry son, it will have in a minute!" And I ain't never seen so much Jumpin' and shovin' before
And then somebody stepped on an old cat's tail He let out a scream, a screech, a wail And to say the least That howl didn't help to calm the situation down
And then that lightnin' flashed and that house went black And I spoke to my feet I said, "Boys, make tracks!" And I went through that screen door lickety split for town!
Well, I cut through the cemetery, fell in a hole It was Uncle Fred's grave...It was dark and cold Yeah, the town drunk dug it, and he dug it too deep And unbeknownst to me, he's still in there asleep And I'm scratchin' and jumpin' tryin to get out of that hole And he woke up and said "Might as well come over here and sit down beside me boy Cause you ain't gettin' out of here tonight!"
But I did
And I ain't sittin' up with the dead no more I don't know 'bout you No, I ain't sittin' up with the dead no more No matter what you say or do They say the dead can't hurt you 'cause they already left But what they left can sure make it hurt yourself And I ain't sittin' up with the dead no more Since the dead started sittin' up, too
"Weren't no sense in anybody sittin' up with Uncle Fred, anyhow Uncle Fred couldn't even sit up with his own self Next time I'm just gonna send flowers! Yeah"

here be friends... here be heroes... here be sunshine... here be grey... here be life... here love lies bleeding... memories so hazy... and dreams that drove me crazy
here be down... here be paradise... here be starbright... here be pain... here be smiles in eyes like rainbows... my father and my mother... my sisters and my brother pictured within
where there're shadows ill met by moonlight... there are dragons I have slain... and here be bright eyes with hair so golden... sunrise and sunset and running free... and laughing at the rain
here be home... here be travellin'... here be thunder... here be blue... and Sometimes heaven and thoughts of wonder... the Miracle of children... a poet and a pilgrim

Primaballerina First performance by: Siw Malmkvist - 1969
Primaballerina, Primaballerina kleine Porzellanfigur, warum bist du allein?

Ooh! Dark meditation Your second sight can show my light In a crystal ball Sweet are the days, intoxication Crow-black the nights caging my mind Behind the wall
Into the rock through walls of red dreams Into the rock to find the cream Into the rock through walls of red dreams Pictured life from yesterday
Ooh! Dark meditation Deep down inside a stream of light Begins to flow Sweet are the days, intoxication Crow-black the nights caging my mind Behind the wall

Pictured life, pictured life Pictured life from yesterday ...
Sittin' On The Front Porch Swing Composer(s): Buddy Sheffield Performer(s): Dolly Parton
I remember a time when the bloom was on the cotton When our hearts chased the clouds like the swallow on the wing When our cares which were already few, were soon forgotten Sittin' on the front porch swing
Oh, we'd sit every Sunday and watch the married ladies And we'd dream of white dresses and church bells in the spring And they'd talk and paint their nails while they let us hold their babies Sittin' on the front porch swing
Where was I when the time came to join the married ladies Why did I paint the nail when the finger had no ring Why do I sit at my age and long to hold their babies Sittin, on the front porch swing
When the mind longs to follow, but the memory erases And the lips form the words that the heart no longer sings When the leaves in the hollow have been dyed to match our faces Sittin' on the front porch swing
Oh we'll dream of the time when the bloom was on the cotton When our hearts chased the clouds like the swallow on the wing But the words to the rhyme are not the only things forgotten Sittin' on the front porch swing Sittin' on the front porch swing

Oj, Oj, Oj Så Glad Jeg Skal Bli First performance by: Kirsti Sparboe - 1969
Picture In Your Mind Composer(s): Larry Knechtel Performer(s): Bread
Used to be my pleasure When I'd wake up in the morning Just to open my eyes and see you Just to find you were lying there But mornings now they seem to be an everyday affair I'm just a picture in the memory of your mind
All I ever wanted Every dream that I've ever cherished Was to share in a kind of magic That only lovers ever share All you ever offered me Was the moment then and there I'm just a picture in your mind
I used to want you, oh how badly did I want you I could not stand the hunger I used to stay awake at night and think of nothing but you And when I would awake to find you lying there beside me It made me so damn happy I couldn't satisfy my craziness for you
Now the spell is broken And my dreams they've all turned to ashes But I still have a love for living By loving you I've only just begun Love is never easy when it's given just by one I'm just a picture in your mind
I used to want you, oh how badly did I want you I could not stand the hunger I used to lie awake at night and think of nothing but you And when I would awake to find you lying there beside me It made me so damn happy, babe I couldn't satisfy my craziness for you
Found a few more answers And I'm ready for tomorrow But I still have to stop and wonder If I've learned anything from what we've done Love is never easy when it's given just by one I'm just a picture in your mind Picture in your mind

Sittin' in the mornin' sun I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come Watching the ships roll in And then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay Watching the tide roll away Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay Wastin' time
I left my home in Georgia Headed for the 'Frisco bay 'Cause I've had nothing to live for And look like nothin's gonna come my way
So I'm just gonna sit on the dock of the bay Watching the tide roll away Ooo, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay Wastin' time
Look like nothing's gonna change Everything still remains the same I can't do what ten people tell me to do So I guess I'll remain the same, yes
Sittin' here resting my bones And this loneliness won't leave me alone It's two thousand miles I roamed Just to make this dock my home
Now, I'm just gonna sit at the dock of the bay Watching the tide roll away Oooo-wee, sittin' on the dock of the bay Wastin' time

Bonjour, Bonjour First performance by: Paola del Medico - 1969
Sittin' On A Fence Composer(s): Mick Jagger; Keith Richards First recording/First release by: The Rolling Stones - 1965/1967 Covered by multiple other artists
Since I was young Ive been very hard to please And I dont know wrong from right But there is one thing I could never understand Some of the sick things that a girl does to a man, so
Im just sittin on a fence You can say I got no sense Trying to make up my mind Really is too horrifying So Im sittin' on a fence
All of my friends at school grew up and settled down And they mortgaged up their lives One thing's not said too much, but I think its true They just get married cause theres nothing else to do, so
Im just sittin on a fence You can say I got no sense Trying to make up my mind Really is too horrifying So Im sittin on a fence
Im just sittin on a fence You can say I got no sense Trying to make up my mind Really is too horrifying So Im sittin on a fence
The day can come when you get old and sick and tired of life You just never realize Maybe the choice you made wasnt really right But you go out and you dont come back at night, so
Im just sittin on a fence You can say I got no sense Trying to make up my mind Really is too horrifying So Im sittin' on a fence

Come to the barbecue and sit by my side We couldn't choose a better night if we tried Can't you imagine what a thrill it will be Pickin' a chicken with me
It's so romantic, the moon up above Is extra bright on a night such as this Pullin' a wishbone with someone you love Is almost certain to end with a kiss
So come to the barbecue, my darling my dear I'm so in love with you and when you are near I get a feeling that forever you'll be Pickin' a chicken with me
It's so romantic, the moon up above Is extra bright on a night such as this Pullin' a wishbone with someone you love Is almost certain to end with a kiss

Judy Min Vän Composer(s): Britt Lindeborg; Roger Wallis First performance by: Tommy Körberg - 1969
Pick Yourself Up Composer(s): Dorothy Fields; Jerome Kern Performer(s): Fred Astaire
(He) Please teacher, teach me something Nice teacher, teach me something I'm as awkward as a camel, that's not the worst My two feet haven't met yet But I'll be teacher's pet yet 'Cause I'm gonna learn to dance or burst
(She) Nothing's impossible I have found For when my chin is on the ground I pick myself up Dust myself off Start all over again
Don't lose your confidence if you slip Be grateful for a pleasant trip And pick yourself up Dust yourself off Start all over again
Work like a soul inspired Till the battle of the day is won You may be sick and tired But you'll be a man, my son!
Will you remember the famous men Who had to fall to rise again? So take a deep breath Pick yourself up Dust yourself off Start all over again
(He) I'll get some self assurance If your endurance is great I'll learn by easy stages If you're courageous and wait
To feel the strength I want to I must hang on to your hand Maybe by the time I'm fifty I'll get up and do a nifty
(Both) Nothing's impossible I have found For when my chin is on the ground I pick myself up Dust myself off Start all over again
(Sittin' Here) Lovin' You Composer(s): John Sebastian Performer(s): Bobby Darin; William S. Emert; The Lovin' Spoonful
If you are wonderin' What I'm gonna do While you are sleepin' Am I sleepin', too? Well, I'm just sittin' here lovin' you Closin' my eyes and lovin' you I'm just sittin' back Sittin' here lovin' you
I have been wonderin' Just what I would do If I weren't sleepin' Had I not found you I'd be outside findin' you Walkin' on the avenue findin' you But I'm just sittin' back Sittin' here lovin' you
Now the reason that you never see me runnin' `round Fingers on my forehead couldn't calm me down She can't even get me up, on my feet When I got to take care of some bus'ness on the street
I have been walkin' All my streets alone I would keep walkin' To keep from goin' home I couldn't quite barely conceive of you Now I can't conceive of ever leavin' you 'Cause I'm just sittin' back Sittin' here lovin' you
I have been walkin' All my streets alone I could keep walkin' To keep from going home I couldn't quite barely conceive of you Now I can't conceive of ever leavin' you 'Cause I'm just sittin' back Sittin' here lovin' you
Pick Me Up And Lay Me Down In Dear Old Dixieland Composer(s): Bert Kalmar; Harry Ruby
One day I watched a flock of whippoor wills as they flew to their homes across the hills they were merrily flying, to the south I knew and I couldn't help crying; "Take me there with you!"
Bring me down there beneath the Southern sky sing me one little Dixie lullabye there's a candle light burning down old Dixie way tell the folks that I'm yearning for them night and day
Pick me up, and lay me down in dear old Dixieland the sun shines there each morn that's where the sun was born My heart's been all wrapped up in that land of magic charms carry me back to someone's empty arms Keep those darkies singing, till I get back to that ivy clinging ram shackle shack Pick me up just like my mammy lead me by the hand, and lay me down in dear old Dixie land
