Just Visiting Composer(s): Lynsey De Paul Performer(s): Lynsey De Paul
When we first began And man received his present name We were worshipping the sun and moon And hoping it would rain Thinking we were puppets of some universal power We expected his arrival any hour
Suddenly it came A chariot across the sky Roaring like an angry tiger Giving us a great surprise And what was surely God indeed Stepped out a burning plane Proceeding to explain
I'm not your maker An angel or a saint divine Not your Creator Giving you a holy sign I am a spaceman And I'm just visting the earth You are an apeman And I've been visiting you Ever since your birth
Man was but a child And little did he understand And he couldn't write this story down So his children heard it second hand And what was pure and simple Now a miracle became The spaceman was its name
I'm not your maker An angel or a saint divine Not your Creator Giving you a holy sign I am a spaceman And I'm just visting the earth You are an apeman And I've been visiting you Ever since your birth
And now we've joined the race Travellers in outer-space Very soon we too might have to say
I'm not your maker An angel or a saint divine Not your Creator Giving you a holy sign I am a spaceman And I'm just visting your earth You are an apeman And I've been visiting you Ever since your birth...
Down by the river, foggy and grey Only a young girl kneeling to pray Down in the water, muddy and cold Eyes red from crying A torn, ragged soul
Once so young and gay Once in dreams of yesterday
Down by the river, foggy and grey Only an old tramp shuffles his way He saw that the water, that the water so wide Held the young body of a love that had died
Once so young and fair Once, and now despair
Down by the reeds, they found him next day Dead like the young girl, in the water so grey That muddy old river took two of a kind A tramp and a young girl That love left behind
I Miss You So
Composer(s): Jimmy Henderson - Sydney Robin - Bertha Scott
Performer(s): The Cats & The Fiddle
and multiple other artists
Those happy hours I spent with you
That lovely afterglow
But most of all I miss you so
Your sweet caresses each rendezvous
Your voice so soft and low
But most of all I miss you so
You once filled my heart
There's no regrets, no, no fears
And now you'll find my heart
Filled to the top with tears
I'll always love you and want you too
How much, how much you'll never know
But most of all I miss you so
But most of all I miss you so
I Miss You Honey, Miss You All The Time Composer(s): Charles K. Harris
I can see a picture of a cottage In a valley 'neath a Southern sky I can see her standing 'mid the flowers Where we plighted troth, my love and I Just a lovers quarrel, then we parted She may love another, I suppose But my heart goes out to her with yearning And I wonder if my Honey knows
Violets are growing in the meadow Honey suckles twine around her door I can see her in the grassy orchard Over her the pink white blossoms pour There is something calls me back to Honey 'T is no use, I'm going home today Take her in my arms once more and tell her How I longed to see her and to say
Oh, how I miss you Honey, miss you Could I only kiss you, kiss you If I could but hold you in my arms again For, oh, my heart is sad and weary Just for you, my little dearie How I miss you, honey, miss you all the time
Just Try And Picture Me Back Home In Tennessee Composer(s): William Jerome; Walter Donaldson Performer(s): Johnny Maddox
I'm so happy, oh, so happy, don't you envy me? I leave today at three for sunny Tennessee dad and mother, sis' and brother, waiting for me there and at the table, next to Mable, there's an extra chair
At the station my relations all will be on hand with a hometown band the best band in the land Hezekiah and Maria they'll hand me alaugh and my old dad will be so glad, he'll kill the fatted calf
Back home in Tennesse just try to picture me right on my mother's knee she thinks the world of me all I can think of tonight is a field of snowy white banjos ringing, darkies singing, all this world seems bright The roses round the door make me love mother more I'll see my sweetheart Flo and friends I used to know Why, they'll be right there to meet me Just imagine how they'll greet me when I get back when I get back to my home in Tennessee

Just To See Her Composer(s): Jimmy George; Lou Pardini Performer(s): Smokey Robinson; and various other artists
Just to see her Just to touch her Just to hold her in my arms again one more time
If I could feel her warm embrace See her smiling face Can't find anyone to take her place I've got to see her again
I would do anything I would go anywhere There's nothing I wouldn't do Just to see her again
I can't hide it I can't fight it It's so hard to live without the love she gave to me
Doesn't she know it I tried hard not to show it Can't I make her realize that she really needs me again
I would do anything I would go anywhere There's nothing I wouldn't do Just to see her again She brightened up my everyday Made me feel so good in every way If I could have her back to stay I've got to see her again
Trainwreck Of Emotion Composer(s): Alan Rhody - Jon Vezner Performer(s): Lorrie Morgan; Del McCoury
I can see it all so clearly as I'm looking back I was headed down the wrong way on a one-way track There must be a million chances that a fool could take Well this fool took every one and never hit the brakes I'm lying in the rubble cinder, smoke and ash My heart still poundin' from the impact of the crash I can see tomorrow's headlines "Heartbroke from blind devotion" Just another victim of a Trainwreak of emotion We were burnin' like a furnace as he poured on the coal Drive wheel a churnin',I mean love was on a roll Faster and faster I swear we left the ground But when that smoke had cleared he was nowhere around I'm lying in the rubble cinder, smoke and ash My heart still poundin' from the impact of the crash I can see tomorrow's headlines "Heartbroke from blind devotion" Just another victim of a Trainwreak of emotion Rumors are flyin' about how our love had failed But I know it was him that pulled the switch And left me derailed I'm lying in the rubble cinder, smoke and ash My heart still poundin' from the impact of the crash I can see tomorrow's headlines "Heartbroke from blind devotion" Just another victim of a Trainwreak of emotion Just one more victim of a Trainwreck of emotion Trainwreck of emotion Trainwreck of emotion

I wanna know do you love me? Tell me do you care? Will you let me hold you baby? Take you anywhere? Tell me, will you let me be, let me be your friend? Will you let me hold you? Until then, yeah, don't you know baby That the truth is the lie? Ask yourself, dear, if you're doing me right 'Cause I wanna love you Oh but not just to let you sit, sit and hold my hand Baby, just hold my hand Now I wanna love you, oh but not just to let you sit Sit and hold my hand, baby just hold my hand
When I first met you, we took a long long walk While we were walkin baby, we had a long long talk I told you how I wanted you, and all the things I'd do If you'd only prove that you loved me too Yeah, I wanna tell you how it thrills, a how it thrills me To call your name If we don't make it, you've got yourself to blame 'Cause I'm gonna love you, oh but not just to let you sit Sit and hold my hand Sit and hold my hand Sit and hold my hand....

Versions In Other Languages: 1965 - Quand Un Bateau Passe (Claude François) 1984 - Havens En Stations (Erik Van Neygen)
Trains and bloats and planes are passing by They mean a trip to Paris or Rome For someone else, but not for me The trains and the boats and planes Took you away, away from me
We were so in love and high above We had a star to wish upon Wish and dreams come true, but not for me The trains and the boats and planes Took you away, away from me
You are from another part of the world You had to go back awhile and then You said you soon would return again I'm waiting here like I promised to I'm waiting here, but where are you
Oh... oh... trains and boats and planes took you away But every time I see her/him I pray And if my prayer can cross the sea The trains and the boats and planes Will bring you back, back home to me The trains and the boats and planes Will bring you back, back home to me

Still I recall all the good times together The love we shared, the fun and the laughter How I wish you could feel what my heart says tonight, dear I miss you and I wish you were here
Dreams that I had, they lay broken in sorrow The plans I made, my hopes for tomorrow If I could I would tell you I'm lonesome tonight, dear Oh, I miss you and I wish you were here
All through the night I will see memories passing The way you looked, the sound of your laughing How I long for the touch of your hand holding mine, dear Oh, I miss you and I wish you were here

There was a lonely man A man with no direction, with no purpose With no one to love and no one to love me for, for me Aw girl then you, then you came into my life You made my jagged edges smooth You made my direction so clear and you aw woman You became my purpose my reason for livin' girl
You see you're my heart, you're soul You're my stone inspiration Baby oh that's why I'm standin' here singin' And opening my arms to you I wanna say child why don't you Take my hand and we'll live in love forever Yeah take my hand ooh, we'll be alone you and me yeah

I have a theory about railway engines being bad tempered Well, when I say bad tempered, that's putting it mildly! They're actually livid, furious beasts and they loathe humanity So different from a ship, which is a sad, proud, graceful creature
You know, I can never understand why an engine driver isn't afraid of the monster he's in charge of, but he isn't! And when the train's about to leave, he pulls down a lever and this livid beast is unleashed Like this: Huhhh... huh... huh... huh... huhhh... huh... huh... huh... huh... huh... huh... and so forth, on it's journey
Well, now we've unleashed this livid beast, we find it's still equally furious and it has this colossal argument with the rails it's running on Like this: Biddlah-da, giddlah-da, diddley-dee, diddley-dah, diddley-dee, giddley-dah, giddley-duh... and that goes on the entire journey And, not only does it have a colossal argument with the rails it's running on, but also all the other rails when they dare to cross it's own Like this: Biddlah-duh, giddlah-duh, diddley-dee, diddley-dah, biddley-diddley-biddley-dee... and so on
Well, then we get out into the country and we come to a little rustic bridge spanning the railway It's quite inoffensive, this dear little bridge, but the engine can't bear anything within it's reach at all so it shouts at the little bridge as it goes underneath Like this: Biddlah-dah, giddlah-dah, diddley-dee, diddley-dah, diddley-dee Haahhh, buddlah-dah, biddlah-dee, guddlah-dah
Incidently, talking about this argument with the rails, this diddlah-duh business I'm not a much travelled man, but I'm told this goes on all over the world, on all the different railways For instance, in France exactly the same thing takes place, only the language is different, you know Suddley-da, suddley na, suddley-da, suck-it-yourself, suddley-da, suddlah-dah... it's all much the same thing!
Speaking of France The first time I ever went there, I arrived at Calais and very close to the quayside I came across my first glimpse of a French engine I was vastly impressed, because it seemed to be four times as big and eight times as livid as any engine I'd ever seen before! To begin with, it had eight of everything, cow catchers and bells and everything but the kitchen stove hanging all over it Added to which, it had a very bad tempered word written across the front It just said 'Nord', which I know is horrid to start with! And it was a great pleasure to find I was allowed to do something in France that I'm not allowed to do in my own country Namely that I could walk across the line to get to the platform on the other side, instead of going over by that maddening bridge!
So I picked up my little bag and walked in front of this monster, cowering away from it And suddenly to my amazement, it let out an extraordinarily efffeminate voice It seemed to me to be so enormously masculine and yet, as it started on it's journey for Paris, all it managed to summon up was: 'Fah' Of course, I may be wrong about that, but it really does seem to me to be a little peculiar
Proceeding on our journey we find, from time to time, that we tear through certain wayside stations where no train has ever deigned to stop People have been standing, waiting on these stations for centuries, but the engine ignores them, shouting as it rushes past Like this: Diddley-dah, diddley-dah, raahh, romm, waahh, diddley-da, diddley-da, diddley-da, diddley-da
Then, of course, in time we get to a manufacturing town Now when you get to these big towns, if you look out of the window, you'll notice some things called sidings on which a quite inexplicable thing called shunting takes place This, of course, is just an excuse on the part of the railway company to provide homes for old engines! You see, there comes a time with an engine when it ceases to be virile and hearty and it just becomes long funnelled and tiresome So it's put on one of these sidings and given a lot of trucks to play with And, if you happen to have a bedroom anywhere near a siding you'll find that you're woken up very early in the morning by trucks taking umbridge And it goes like this: Huh... huh... huh... p-dink-dink, p-dank-donk, p-donk-dank, p-tink-donk-donk-donk-donk... to the far end And, of course, there's another old gentleman at the other end who decides to do the same thing and biffs them all back again And in this way, the railway company is carried on
Now there's one thing I must know before I die, and that's something that takes place in the tunnel outside Snowhill Station, Birmingham You dash into the tunnel very fast and the brakes go on and you look out of the window and all down the tunnel at intervals are a lot of flare lights And in between these flare lights are men, standing! They're leaning on shovels and pick-axes and golf clubs, or anything they can get hold of And these men, they live there... definitely! And as you go slowly through the tunnel, an extraordinary noise starts at the far end and slowly crashes past the window I've no idea what it is, but it goes something like this: Brom-brom-brom-brom, durrum-durrum-durrum, aling-aling-aling-aling-aling I think it's a piece of tin which has been nailed to the side of the tunnel with some number on it or something that doesn't seem to mean anything to anybody And it's too big! And it strikes the side of the train as it goes through And, presumably, the men are merely there to bend the tin back, ready for the next train to hit it as it goes through the tunnel
Now, lastly, I'm going to tell you the one thing that an engine loathes more than anything else And that is another engine coming in the opposite direction That it cannot bear! And by this time, you'll have settled down having got quite used to the diddley-dum, diddley-dum nonsense and all other maddening noises when suddenly, to your horror, this new thing bursts upon you and nearly knocks you on the carriage floor It's the most frightening thing in the world and it goes something like this Biddley-da, diddley-dum, diddley-dum, shaahhhhh, huddley-da, huddley-da, huddley-da!
Well folks, that's all... back to the asylum! Good night
