So discovering your vocation is
finding out how you are created to love best.
Each of us needs the right environment for
our form of loving to unfold. It’s like plants.
Some plants need an acidic soil and
protection from the wind; others need
an alkaline soil otherwise they die.
Some plants flourish in a rain forest and others in the desert.
We must discover what sort of environment we need
for our capacity to love to flower. Every vocation
has its place within the ecology of love. None is better
than another. But we need to know which is ours.
It is no good pretending to be a palm tree
when you are actually a rhododendron!
So be brave. Find the soil in which you
can flourish as a loving person.
