I Remember The Cornfields

I Remember The Cornfields
Composer(s): Martin Mayne; Harry Ralton
Performer(s): Dorothy Squires
and multiple other artists

I remember the cornfields
In the wind softly sighing
And the swing beneath the chestnut tree

I remember my school friend
Happy days swiftly flying
And my room still waiting for me

The old harvest moon
Shining over the city
Discovers me there
And regards me with pity
While sad of heart I roam

I remember my first love
And the last time he kissed me
By the golden cornfields of home

The old harvest moon
Shining over the city
Discovers me there
And regards me with pity
While sad of heart I roam

I remember my first love
And the last time he kissed me
By the golden cornfields
Those lovely cornfields of home
Sweet home

Easy To Be Hard

Easy To Be Hard
Composer(s): Galt MacDermot - James Rado - Gerome Ragni First performance/First release by: Jill O'Hara - 1967/1968 Covered by multiple other artists

How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be hard, easy to be cold

How can people have no feelings
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be proud, easy to say no

Especially people who care about strangers
Who care about evil and social injustice
Do you only care about bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend, I need a friend

How can people be so heartless
You know I'm hung up on you
Easy to be proud, easy to say no

Especially people who care about strangers
Who care about evil and social injustice
Do you only care about bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend, we all need a friend

How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be proud, easy to say no
Easy to be cold, easy to say no
Come, on, easy to give in, easy to say no
Easy to be cold, easy to say no
Much too easy to say no

Trop Grand Pour Moi

Trop Grand Pour Moi
Composer(s): Michel Berger
Performer(s): France Gall

I Remember It Well

I Remember It Well
Composer(s): Alan Jay Lerner; Frederick Loewe
Performer(s): Maurice Chevalier & Hermione Gingold

Honoré (Maurice Chevalier) & Mamita (Hermione Gingold)

H: We met at nine
M: We met at eight
H: I was on time
M: No, you were late
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well
We dined with friends
M: We dined alone
H: A tenor sang
M: A baritone
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well
That dazzling April moon!
M: There was none that night
And the month was June
H: That's right
That's right
M: It warms my heart to know that you remember still the way you do
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well

H: How often I've thought of that Friday
M: Monday
H: night when we had our last rendezvous
And somehow I foolishly wondered if you might
By some chance be thinking of it too?
That carriage ride
M: You walked me home
H: You lost a glove
M: I lost a comb
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well
That brilliant sky
M: We had some rain
H: Those Russian songs
M: From sunny Spain
H: You wore a gown of gold
M: I was all in blue
H: Am I getting old?
M: Oh, no, not you
How strong you were
How young and gay
A prince of love
In every way
H: Ah, yes, I remember it well

Easy Street (Julie London)

Easy Street Composer(s): Alan Rankin Jones Performer(s): Julie London

Easy Street, I'd love to live on Easy Street
Nobody works on Easy Street
Just lie around all day
Just sit and play the horses

Life is sweet for folks who live on Easy Street
No weekly payments you must meet
That makes your hair turn grey

When opportunity comes knockin'
You just keep on with your rockin'
'Cause you know your fortune's made
And if the sun makes you perspire
There's a man that you can hire
To plant trees so you can have shade

On Easy Street, I'm telling everyone I meet
If I could live on Easy Street
I'd want no job today
So please go 'way

Trop Grand Maintenant

Trop Grand Maintenant
Composer(s): Francis Cabrel
Performer(s): Francis Cabrel

Joe! T'as plus le temps
T'as trop d'argent
Tu es trop grand maintenant
Joe! Tu gagnes beaucoup trop!
Joe! T'as plus le temps
T'as trop d'argent

Joe! T'as plus le temps
T'as trop d'argent
Tu es trop grand maintenant
Joe! Tu gagnes beaucoup trop!
Joe! T'as plus le temps
T'as trop d'argent

I Remember Elvis Presley

I Remember Elvis Presley
Composer(s): Bakker; Dunhills; Ouwens
Performer(s): Danny Mirror

Last night I turned the radio on for the midnight news
Suddenly I thought I died of a broken heart
When I heard the announcer say...

"Ladies and gentlemen, the King is dead
Elvis Presley just died in a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee
Forty-Two years on this planet, but he'll be here forever"

I remember Elvis Presley
Lord, how I love to hear him sing!
So I'll adore him just forever
For he's the one and only King

I remember Elvis Presley
And he won't ever set me free
Like he was singing "Now Or Never"
He's just a golden memory

Good luck charm is not forever
Good luck songs we need 'em ever
Again, again I'll play your songs
'Cause in my mind you haven't gone

Are you lonesome tonight? Do you miss him tonight?
Tell me, dear, are you lonesome tonight?

I remember Elvis Presley
Lord, how I love to hear him sing!
So I'll adore him just forever
For he's the one and only King

I remember Elvis Presley
And he won't ever set me free
Like he was singing "Now Or Never"
He's just a golden memory

My dear friend, I won't forget you
When I need you, I can hear you
King, though I don't know where or when
There'll be a day we'll meet again

Wise man say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love again

Elvis Presley, I wanna thank you
For all the happiness you gave so many people
All over the world during many, many years
I remember the DJ was playing "Jailhouse rock"
When I had my first date with a beautiful girl
And since that evening you've been my friend, Elvis

I remember Elvis Presley
Lord, how I love to hear him sing!
So I'll adore him just forever
He's just a golden memory

Easy Money (Lowell George)

Easy Money
Composer(s): Rickie Lee Jones
First release by: Lowell George - 1978

There was a Joe
Leanin' on the back door
A couple Jills with their eyes on a couple bills
Their eyes was statin'
They was waitin'
To get their hands on some easy money

They flipped a dime
One said, "Well, I'll take heads this time"
One stepped up
One stepped back
One loosened her shoulder strap
She couldn't speak
Her knees got weak
She could almost taste that easy money

There was this old black cat
Sittin' in a old black cadillac
The Joe smelled sweet
She curled up at her boyfriend's feet
She said "I got a plan
Listen, Sam, how'd ya like to make some easy money?"

He say, "Yes! Oh Yes!
Jus' tell me what you want me to do"
She said, "Baby, you can trust me
Baby, but you must be hidin' in my room
At a quarter to two"

Well, the cat told the boy
"Come up to the room and play with my toy"
But the Jill set the bait
And she wasn't gonna sit around and wait
But this guy was wise to all the lies
And he flies out the door
With the easy money

Because there ain't no man
Who got the money in his hand
Who got any of that bread
Bein' slow in the head
The easier it looks
The hotter it hooks
There ain't no such thing as easy money

We say, "Yes! Oh Yes!"

Saturday night
There was a terrible, terrible fight
Between two dames who was losin' the same game
It wasn't clear
But I hear somebody was lookin' for some easy money

Trompe La Mort

Trompe La Mort
Composer(s): Georges Brassens
Performer(s): Georges Brassens

Toujours actif, toujours paillard

Me ressemblant à s'y tromper

I Remember

I Remember
Composer(s): Stephen Sondheim
First performance by: Charmian Carr - 1966
Covered by multiple other artists

I remember sky
It was blue as ink
Or at least I think
I remember sky

I remember snow
Soft as feathers
Sharp as thumb tacks
Coming down like lint
And it made you squint
When the wind would blow

And ice like vinyl
On the streets
Cold as silver
White as sheets
Rain like strings
And changing things
Like leaves

I remember leaves
Green as spearmint
Crisp as paper
I remember trees
Bare as coat racks
Spread like broken umbrellas

And parks and bridges
Ponds and zoos
Ruddy faces
Muddy shoes
Light and noise and
Bees and boys
And days

I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

Easy Money (King Crimson)

Easy Money
Composer(s): Robert Fripp - Richard Palmer-James - John Wetton Performer(s): King Crimson

Your admirers on the street
Gotta hoot and stamp their feet
In the heat from your physique
As you twinkle by in moccasin sneakers

And I thought my heart would break
When you doubled up at the stake
With your fingers all a-shake
You could never tell a winner from a snake
but you always make money

Easy money

With your figure and your face
Strutting out at every race
Throw a glass around the place
Show the colour of your crimson suspenders

We would take the money home
Sit around the family throne
My old dog could chew his bone
For two weeks we could appease the Almighty

Easy money

Got no truck with the la-di-da
Keep my bread in an old fruit jar
Drive you out in a motor-car
Getting fat on your lucky star just making

Easy money

Trojanska Hästen

Trojanska Hästen
Composer(s): Traditional - Karl-Gerhard

I världsmanegen politikerna
som dumma Augustar står i parad - hurra!

Det är den ökända hästen från Troja
som sluppit ut ur historiens stall
I ryttargången sig statsmännen oja
en del ha socker i fickorna ifall
att hästen skulle va´ möjlig att tämja
det är en högst neutral politik
Vi svenskar umgås med kraken i sämja
han går numera i reguljär trafik
I vissa tidningar säger man: "Nå ja

skena hästen in med stor succé
Men femte ben rusa hästen åstad

I Refuse

I Refuse
Composer(s): Ric Ocasek
Performer(s): The Cars

Everything's heaven sent
That's what you said and went
Inisde your fairy glass
Is something you think will last
And when they crop you like a clown
You got your smile on upside down

Baby I refuse
You can pick or choose
Find somebody else to use
'Cause I refuse to come along

Everything's on a whim
That's what you said to him
Lying in wunderlust
Are feelings you never trust
And when they pamper you with ice
I can't believe you don't think twice

Baby I refuse
You can pick or choose
Find somebody else to use
'Cause I refuse to come along

Everyone makes the play
With nothing much left to say
All in an endless line
Waiting for equal time
They keep screaming it's the truth
And you keep kneeling in the booth

Baby I refuse
You can pick or choose
Find somebody else to use
'Cause I refuse to come along

Easy Money (Billy Joel)

Easy Money
Composer(s): Billy Joel Performer(s): Billy Joel

You don't have to talk all night
I'm a man who can't say no
You don't have to twist my arm
Just point me where you want to go
Take me to the action
Take me to the track
Take me to a party if they're bettin' in the back
I've been working all my life
Can't afford to wait
Let me call my wife so I can tell her I'll be late

I want the easy
Easy money
Easy money
I could get lucky
Oh, things could go right

I want the easy
Easy money
Easy money
Maybe this one time
Maybe tonight

You don't have to try too hard
I don't need a song and dance
I don't need an invitation
If you've got a game of chance

Take me to the tables
Take me to the fights
Run me like the numbers
Roll me like the dice

When you're counting on a killing
Always count me in
Talk me into losin' just as long as I can win

I want the easy
Easy money
Easy money
I want the good times
Oh, I never had

I want the easy
Easy money
I want the good life
I want it bad

Easy money
You say I fool myself
But better me than being a fool for someone else
I got a hot slot machine of a system
Ready to go

Easy money
I got a one-track mind
And a good reputation laying on the line
I'll either come back a bum or a king
Baby I don't know

You don't have to start a fight
I'm a man who can't say no
If you've got a little risky business
Just point me where you want to go

Take me to the power
Take me to the heat
Take me to the cleaners
If it's open to the street

Something's got to pay off
Something's got to break
Someone's got a fortune that they're begging
Me to take

I want the easy
Easy money
Easy money
I could get lucky
Things could go right

I want the easy
Easy money
Easy money
Maybe just this time
Oh maybe tonight

Easy money
Oh I don't want no hard cash
I just want the easy money
I could get lucky

Troisièmes Couteaux

Troisièmes Couteaux
Composer(s): Bernard Lavilliers - Georges Baux
Performer(s): Bernard Lavilliers

Devant nous l'an 2000

Requins, banquiers, simples canailles
Pas de nom et pas de photo
Leurs sociétés sont étrangères
Plus compliqué est le réseau
Qui les relie à leurs affaires

Il était grand, il était beau
Il sentait bon son Lugano
Mon gestionnaire

Justement près de Lugano
Etait la banque Ambrosiano
Là où les vierges vaticanes
Faisaient fructifier leur magot
Loge P2 dans ses arcanes
A deux massifs cardinaux
Pour les consultations diaphanes
Avec de joyeux mafiosos
Le fameux compte à numéro
Passe de Zurich à Lausanne
De Bâle à Londres, près de Soho
Rencontra le troisième couteau

Il était chauve, il était gros
Il portait des fringues de chez Smalto
Mon mercenaire

Dansez Sur Moi

Dansez Sur Moi
Adapted from: Girl Talk - 1965
Composer(s): Neal Hefti; Bobby Troup; Claude Nougaro
Performer(s): Claude Nougaro - 1973
and multiple other artists

Dansez sur moi
Dansez sur moi
Le soir de vos fiançailles
Dansez dessus mes vers luisants

Miroite mon sillon neuf

Dansez sur moi
Dansez sur moi
Dansez sur moi

I know from the feelin'
That it comes from the heart
Easy lovin', everyday's Thanksgivin'

So real-to-life it seems
Upon your pretty shoulders
There's a pair of Angel's wings

Easy lovin', seein's believing
Life with you is like living
In a beautiful dream

Trois Petites Notes De Musique

Trois Petites Notes De Musique
Composer(s): Henri Colpi - Georges Delerue
Performer(s): Yves Montand
and multiple other artists

Trois petites notes de musique
Ont plié boutique
Au creux du souvenir
C'en est fini de leur tapage
Elles tournent la page
Et vont s'endormir

Mais un jour sans crier gare
Elles vous reviennent en mémoire

Toi, tu voulais oublier
Un p'tit air galvaudé
Dans les rues de l'été
Toi, tu n'oublieras jamais
Une rue, un été
Une fille qui fredonnait

La, la, la, la, je vous aime
Chantait la rengaine
La, la, mon amour
Des paroles sans rien de sublime
Pourvu que la rime
Amène toujours

Une romance de vacances
Qui lancinante vous relance

Vrai, elle était si jolie
Si fraîche épanouie
Et tu ne l'as pas cueillie
Vrai, pour son premier frisson
Elle t'offrait une chanson
A prendre à l'unisson

La, la, la, la, tout rêve
Rime avec s'achève
Le tien n'rime à rien
Fini avant qu'il commence
Le temps d'une danse
L'espace d'un refrain

Trois petites notes de musique
Qui vous font la nique
Du fond des souvenirs
Lèvent un cruel rideau de scène
Sur mille et une peines
Qui n'veulent pas mourir

I Really Loved Harold

I Really Loved Harold
Composer(s): Melanie
First release by: Melanie - 1968

They told me when I was little
I'd go to heaven, if I was good
Now I'm a long way from little
'Cause I tried to find heaven, 'cause I thought that I could
I thought that I could
And I thought I loved Harold and I really loved John
I really loved Alphy and I almost loved Tom
I loved them so easy and I loved them so free
So I don't think that heaven will wanna love me

Hallo, song of the willow
The dreams under my pillow turned to tears that I cried
Beauty and love are our riddle
Never to answer but always to try
And boy, did I try?
I tried with Harold and I tried with John
I tried with Alphy and almost with Tom
I left myself open for the whole world to see
Now the world is the heaven that won't accept me

I said goodbye to Harold and goodbye to John
Goodbye to Alphy and goodbye to Tom
'Cause I loved them so easy and I loved them so free
So I don't think that heaven will wanna love me
Oh say, can you see, by the dawn's early light
No light will shine on me?

Easy Lover

Easy Lover
Composer(s): Philip Bailey - Phil Collins First release by: Philip Bailey With Phil Collins - 1984 Covered by multiple other artists

Easy lover
She'll get a hold on you believe it
Like no other
Before you know it you'll be on your knees
She's an easy lover
She'll take your heart but you won't feel it
She's like no other
And I'm just trying to make you see

She's the kind of girl you dream of
Dream of keeping hold of
You'd better forget it
You'll never get it
She will play around and leave you
Leave you and deceive you
Better forget it
Oh you'll regret it

No you'll never change her, so leave it, leave it
Get out quick cos seeing is believing
It's the only way
You'll ever know

Easy lover
She'll get a hold on you believe it
Like no other
Before you know it you'll be on your knees
She's an easy lover
She'll take your heart but you won't feel it
She's like no other
And I'm just trying to make you see

You're the one that wants to hold her
Hold her and control her
You'd better forget it
You'll never get it
For she'll say there's no other
Till she finds another
Better forget it
Oh you'll regret it

And don't try to change her, just leave it, leave it
You're not the only one, ooh seeing is believing
It's the only way
You'll ever know, oh

No don't try to change her, just leave it, leave it
You're not the only one, ooh seeing is believing
It's the only way
You'll ever know, oh

She's an easy lover (she's a easy lover)
She'll get a hold on you believe it (get a hold on you)
(She's) like no other
Before you know it you'll be on your knees (you'll be down on your knees)
She's an easy lover
She'll take your heart but you won't feel it (you won't feel it)
She's like no other
And I'm just trying to make you see (trying to make you see)

She's an easy lover
She'll get a hold on you believe it (get a hold on you)
And like no other
Before you know it you'll be on your knees (you'll be on your knees)
She's an easy lover
She'll take your heart but you won't feel it (you won't feel it)
She's like no other
And I'm just trying to make you see (trying to make you see)
She's an easy lover...
