La Source

La Source
Composer(s): Guy Bonnet; Henri Djian; Daniel Faure
First performance by: Isabelle Aubret - 1968

Phantom Of The Opera

Phantom Of The Opera
Composer(s): Andrew Lloyd Webber;
Charles Hart; Richard Stillgoe
Performer(s): Sarah Brightman;
and various other artists

Christine:
In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came....
that voice which calls to me and speaks my name...
And do I dream again? For now I find
the Phantom of the Opera is there - inside my mind...

Phantom:
Sing once again with me our strange duet...
My power over you grows stronger yet...
And though you turn from me,to glance behind,
the Phantom of the Opera is there - inside your mind...

Christine:
Those who have seen your face
draw back in fear...
I am the mask you wear...

Phantom:
It's me they hear...

Both:
You're/my spirit and you're/my voice, in one combined:
the Phantom of the Opera is there - inside your/my mind...

Chorus:
He's there, the Phantom of the Opera...
Beware the Phantom of the Opera...

Phantom:
In all your fantasies
you always knew
that man and mystery...

Christine:
...were both in you...

Both:
And in this labyrinth
where night is blind
the Phantom of the Opera is there/here
inside your/my mind...

Phantom:
Sing my Angel of Music!
He's there
The Phantom of the Opera....

Sir Joseph

Sir Joseph
Performer(s): Gilbert & Sullivan

When I was a lad I served a term
As office boy to an Attorney's firm
I cleaned the windows and I swept the floor
And I polished up the handle of the big front door
I polished up that handle so carefullee
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen's Navee!

He polished, ...

As office boy I made such a mark
That they gave me the post of a junior clerk
I served the writs with a smile so bland
And I copied all the letters in a big round hand
I copied all the letters in a hand so free
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen's Navee!

He copied, ...

In serving writs I made such a name
That an articled clerk I soon became
I wore clean collars and a brand-new suit
For the pass examination at the Institute
And that pass examination did so well for me
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen's Navee!

And that pass examination, ...

Of legal knowledge I acquired such a grip
That they took me into the partnership
And that junior partnership, I ween
Was the only ship that I ever had seen
But that kind of ship so suited me
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen's Navee!

But that kind, ...

I grew so rich that I was sent
By a pocket borough into Parliament
I always voted at my party's call
And I never thought of thinking for myself at all
I thought so little, they rewarded me
By making me the Ruler of the Queen's Navee!

He thought so little, ...

Now landsmen all, whoever you may be
If you want to rise to the top of the tree
If your soul isn't fettered to an office stool
Be careful to be guided by this golden rule
Stick close to your desks and never go to sea
And you all may be rulers of the Queen's Navee!

Stick close, ...

Big Joe ... And Phantom 309

Big Joe ... And Phantom 309
Composer(s): Tommy Faile
First release by: Red Sovine - 1967
Covered by multiple other artists

I was out on the West Coast, tryin' to make a buck
And things didn't work out, I was down on my luck
Got tired a-roamin' and bummin' around
So I started thumbin' back East, toward my home town

Made a lot of miles, the first two days
And I figured I'd be home in week, if my luck held out this way
But, the third night I got stranded, way out of town
At a cold, lonely crossroads, rain was pourin' down

I was hungry and freezin', done caught a chill
When the lights of a big semi topped the hill
Lord, I sure was glad to hear them air brakes come on
And I climbed in that cab, where I knew it'd be warm

At the wheel sit a big man, he weighed about two-ten
He stuck out his hand and said with a grin
Big Joe's the name, I told him mine
And he said: The name of my rig is Phantom 309

I asked him why he called his rig such a name
He said: Son, this old Mack can put 'em all to shame
There ain't a driver, or a rig, a-runnin' any line
that seen nothin' but taillights from Phantom 309

Well, we rode and talked the better part of the night
When the lights of a truck stop came in sight
He said: I'm sorry son, this is as far as you go
'Cause, I gotta make a turn, just on up the road

Well, he tossed me a dime as he pulled her in low
And said: Have yourself a cup on old Big Joe
When Joe and his rig roared out in the night
In nothin' flat, he was clean out of sight

Well, I went inside and ordered me a cup
Told the waiter Big Joe was settin' me up
Aw!, you coulda heard a pin drop, it got deathly quiet
And the waiter's face turned kinda white

Well, did I say something wrong? I said with a halfway grin
He said: Naw, this happens every now and then
Ever' driver in here knows Big Joe
But son, let me tell you what happened about ten years ago

At the crossroads tonight, where you flagged him down
There was a bus load of kids, a comin' from town
And they were right in the middle, when Big Joe topped the hill
It could have been slaughter, but he turned his wheels

Well, Joe lost control, went into a skid
And gave his life to save that bunch-a kids
And there at that crossroads, was the end of the line
For Big Joe and phantom 309

But, every now and then, some hiker'll come by
And like you, Big Joe'll give 'em a ride
Here, have another cup and forget about the dime
Keep it as a souvenir, from Big Joe and Phantom 309!

Kun Kello Käy

Kun Kello Käy
First performance by: Kristina Hautala - 1968

Ei enempää, ei vähempää
kun lähempää sun nähdä vain saan

Vain olla tässä anna mun
luokses kerran kun jäin
niin tahdon nyt näin
Mutt' silti vain on pelkonain

Kun kello käy
taas liian paljon se lyö
on kohta päättynyt yö
taas alkaa arkinen työ
Kun kello käy
niin kohta nähdä saan sen
sua löydä viereltäin en
oi miksi aika näin kiiruhtaa

Ei enempää, ei vähempää
kun lähempää sun nähdä vain saan

Vain olla tässä anna mun
luokses kerran kun jäin
niin tahdon nyt näin
Mutt' silti vain on pelkonain

Kun kello käy
ja aamun kalpean tois
ei tähdet hehkuaan lois
käyt niiden kanssa sä pois
Kun kello käy
niin myötä vanhenen sen
jää aika rakkauden
oi miksei kellot voi seisahtaa

Vain olla tässä anna mun
luokses kerran kun jäin
niin tahdon nyt näin
Mutt' silti vain on pelkonain

Kun kello käy
taas liian paljon se lyö
on kohta päättynyt yö
taas alkaa arkinen työ
Kun kello käy
niin myötä vanhenen sen
jää aika rakkauden
oi miksei kellot voi
seisahtaa

Pfft You Were Gone

Pfft You Were Gone
Composer(s): Buck Owens
Performer(s): Buck Owens;
Archie Campbell; Hee Haw

Down here on the farm the weather gets messy
Laying around with nothin' to do
When you went away, you took my cow Bessie
I miss her darling, more than I miss you

You took off your leg, your wig and your eye glass
And you should've seen the look on my face
I wanted to kiss, I wanted to hug you
But you were scattered all over the place

Chorus:
Where, where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over
And thought I found true love
You met another and
Phht! you were gone

I know that you loved me, here's my way of knowing
The proofs hanging out right there on the line
When I see the snow and feel the wind blowing
Your nighties hugging them long johns of mine

The noises you made at our supper table
Your habits, my dear, were surely absurd
But how many times do I have to tell you
Soup is a dish to be seen and not heard

Chorus:
Where, oh where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over
And thought I found true love
You met another and
Phht! you were gone

Remember you phoned me a-sobbin' and cryin'
The dog bit your maw, and drug her around
You said she looked pale and thought she was dying
I said "Don't worry, I'll buy a new hound"

I had six kids and you had eleven
And we had a boy, and they grew like flowers
I wish you'd come back, without you ain't heaven
'Cause your kids and my kids are beatin' up ours

Chorus:
Where, oh where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over
And thought I found true love
You met another and
Phht! you were gone

I searched the world over
And thought I found true love
You met another and
Phht! you were gone...

Sir Godfrey

Sir Godfrey
Composer(s): J. Mareuil; G. Liferman
Performer(s): Yves Montand

Attaques à main armée, hold-up en tous genres

"I beg your pardon sir...
Your money please... please
Thank you sir"

- Ho... I beg your pardon sir. What time is it please?
- Three o'clock
- Three o'clock? oh, thank you sir, thank you
It's kind of you and... good night!

Quel bikini a pezzettini
Che fortuna le porto
Un regista la vide
Per un film la scritturo

Det Börjar Verka Kärlek Banne Mej

Det Börjar Verka Kärlek Banne Mej
First performance by: Claes-Göran Hederström - 1968

Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

Sir Duke

Sir Duke
Composer(s): Stevie Wonder
First release by: Stevie Wonder - 1976
Covered by multiple other artists

Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand
With an equal opportunity
For all to sing, dance and clap their hands
But just because a record has a groove
Don't make it in the groove
But you can tell right away at letter A
When the people start to move

They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over people
They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over people

Music knows it is and always will
Be one of the things that life just won't quit
But here are some of music's pioneers
That time will not allow us to forget
For there's Basie, Miller, Satchmo
And the king of all Sir Duke
And with a voice like Ella's ringing out
There's no way the band can lose

You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people

You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people

You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people

You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
I can feel it all over-all over now people

Can't you feel it all over
Come on let's feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
Everybody-all over people

À Chacun Sa Chanson (Line & Willy)

À Chacun Sa Chanson Composer(s): Roland Valade - Jean-Claude Oliver First performance by: Line & Willy - 1968

Composer(s): J.P. Buccolo; Francis Cabrel
Performer(s): Francis Cabrel

A-sippin' soda through a straw

And when she smiled (And when she smiled)

Petite Marie

Petite Marie
Composer(s): Francis Cabrel
Performer(s): Francis Cabrel; K-Mel

Petite Marie, je parle de toi
Parce qu'avec ta petite voix
Tes petites manies, tu as versé sur ma vie

Guardando Il Sole

Guardando Il Sole
Composer(s): Sanzio Chiesa; Aldo D'Addario
First performance by: Gianni Mascole - 1968

Io vorrei ... io vorrei
star con te guardando il sole
pregherò ... pregherò
per veder l'arcobaleno
e così se un altro giorno muor
cercherò
dentro i tuoi occhi ancora
di trovar quelle parole
ricorderai
dicevano ... t'amo ... io t'amo ... io t'amo

Io vorrei ... io vorrei
Intrecciare le mie mani con te
anche se
non ci fosse mai
una stella in ciel ...
per il mio amor

Io vorrei ... io vorrei
Intrecciare le mie mani con te
anche se
non ci fosse mai
una stella in ciel ...
per il mio amor

Petite Mama

Petite Mama
Composer(s): Mark Charron; J.M. Rivat
Performer(s): Joe Dassin

Tu es faite de douceur
Tu souris et tu m'aimes
Avec tant de tendresse
Que je t'appelle petite mama, mama

Tu me prépares le matin mon café
Puis tu viens me frotter dans mon bain

Petite mama, petite mama

Mama, petite mama

Petite mama, mama
Petite mama, petite mama

Tu te lèves la nuit à la moindre occasion
Pour me couvrir de beaux édrédons
Petite mama, petite mama

J'ai chaud mais je me laisse faire
Ça te fait tant plaisir
Je fais semblant de bien dormir
Petite mama, petite mama

Petite mama, petite mama
Petite mama, petite mama

That's how I come to be in the state of Iowa
I met a gal in Iowa
Her eyes were big and blue
I asked her what her name was
She said "Sioux City Sue"

Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
Your hair is red
Your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue

I asked her if she had a beau
She said "Yes, quite a few"
But still I started courtin' my Sioux City Sue
The first time that I stole a kiss, I caught her stealin' too
I asked her did she love me
She said "Indeed I do"

Now I'm admittin', Iowa, I owe a lot to you
'Cause I come from New-brasky to find Sioux City Sue
I'm gonna rope and tie her up
I'll use my old lassoo
I'm gonna put my brand on my sweet Sioux City Sue

J'ai caché
Mieux que partout ailleurs
Au grand jardin de mon coeur
Une petite fleur
Cette fleur
Plus jolie qu'un bouquet
Elle garde en secret
Tous mes rêves d'enfant
L'amour de mes parents
Et tous ces clairs matins
Fait d'heureux souvenirs lointains

Quand la vie
Par moments me trahi
Tu restes mon bonheur
Petite fleur

Sur mes vingt ans
Je m'arrête un moment
Pour respirer
Le parfum que j'ai tant aimé

Dans mon coeur
Tu fleuriras toujours
Au grand jardin d'amour
Petite fleur

Quand la vie
Par moments me trahi
Tu restes mon bonheur
Petite fleur

Sur mes vingt ans
Je m'arrête un moment
Pour respirer
Le parfum que j'ai tant aimé

Dans mon coeur
Tu fleuriras toujours
Au grand jardin d'amour
Petite fleur
