    Il Tempo
((English & French Versions: There Is A Time (Liza Minnelli); Le Temps (Charles Aznavour))
Composer(s): Charles Aznavour - Georges Calabrese
    Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

Il tempo va il tempo tradisce
Il tempo vola, il tempo guarisce
I giorni sì, durati un secondo
I giorni no, più lunghi del mondo
Il tempo il tempo ad ogni costo
Il tuo e il mio, che non è nostro
Il tempo e il mio, che non è nostro
Il tempo che è di là da venire
Tempo di amare e di partire
Tempo di gioia e di speranza
Il tempo di sereno e vacanza
Il tempo il tempo ad ogni costo
Il tuo e il mio, che non è nostro
Il tempo il tempo ad ogni costo
Il tuo e il mio, che non è nostro
Il tempo di battaglie e di gloria
Tempo di noia, che va senza storia
Il tempo di canzoni e follie
Il tempo di promesse e utopie
I tempi miei in base altra vita
Il tempo di bruciare una vita

Il tempo si ad ogni costo
Che aspetta noi per essere nostro
Il tempo sì ad ogni costo
Che aspetta noi per essere nostro
    E va...
Il tempo sì ad ogni costo
    Il tuo e il mio
    Che adesso è nostro
Il tempo sì ad ogni costo
    Il tuo e il mio
    Che adesso è nostro
    E va...
    E va...

    English Rose
Composer(s): Paul Weller First release: The Jam - 1978 Covered by multiple other artists

    No matter where I roam
I will return to my English Rose
For no bonds can ever tempt me from she

    I've sailed the seven seas
    Flown the whole blue sky
    But I've returned with haste
To where my love does lie
    No matter where I go
I will come back to my English Rose
For nothing could ever tempt me from she

    I've searched the secret mists
    I've climbed the highest peaks
    Caught the wild wind home
To hear her soft voice speak
    No matter where I roam
I will return to my English Rose
For no bonds can ever keep me from she

    I've been to ancient worlds
    I've scoured the whole Universe
And caught the first train home
    To be at her side
    No matter where I roam
I will return to my English Rose
For no bonds, can ever keep me from she

Il Te Suffisait Que Je T'aime
    Composer(s): Charles Aznavour
    Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

Où devant Dieu tu as dit: " oui "
Avec des yeux baignés de larmes

Le printemps passe, et puis l'été
Mais l'automne a des joies cachées
    Qu'il te faut découvrir toi-même
    Oublie la cruauté du temps
    Et rappelle-toi qu'à vingt ans
Il te suffisait que je t'aime

    English Muffins And Irish Stew
Composer(s): Moose Charlap - Bob Hillard Performer(s): Sylvia Syms

You'd never think they go together
    But they certainly do
    The combination of English Muffins
    And Irish Stew

I must admit they're quite delicious
    And so easy to chew
    The combination of English Muffins
    And Irish Stew

I've tried macaroni and Spanish rice
That's not so very nice, that's not so very nice
I've tried French pancakes with German sauerkraut
Now that's one dish I do without!

You'd never think they go together
    But they certainly do
    The combination of English Muffins
    And Irish Stew

The Mexican army is eating salami and onions from Peru
But it can't compare with English Muffins
    And Irish Stew

    Il Te Faut Grandir Encore
    Performer(s): Johnny Hallyday

    English Is Cuh-Ray-Zee
Composer(s): Richard Lederer Performer(s): Pete Seeger

English is the most widely spoken language in the history of the planet One out of every seven human beings can speak or read it Half the world's books, three-quarters of the international mail are in English It has the largest vocabulary, perhaps two million words And a noble body of literature But face it English is cuh-ray-zee! Just a few examples: There's no egg in eggplant, no pine or apple in pineapple Quicksand works slowly; boxing rings are square A writer writes, but do fingers fing? Hammers don't ham, grocers don't groce Haberdashers don't haberdash English is cuh-ray-zee! If the plural of tooth is teeth, shouldn't the plural of booth be beeth? It's one goose, two geese. Why not one moose, two meese? The plural of index is indices; should it be one Kleenex, two Kleenices? English is cuh-ray-zee! You can comb through the annals of history, but not just one annal You can make amends, but not just one amend If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one, is it an odd or an end? If the teacher taught, why isn't it true that a preacher praught? If you wrote a letter, did you also bote your tongue? And if a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? English is cuh-ray-zee! Why is it that night falls but never breaks and day breaks but never falls? In what other language do people drive on the parkway and park on the driveway? Ship by truck but send cargo by ship? Recite at a play but play at a recital? Have noses that run and feet that smell? English is cuh-ray-zee! How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same When a wise man and a wise guy are very different? To overlook something and to oversee something are very different But quite a lot and quite a few are the same How can the weather be hot as hell one day and cold as hell the next? English is cuh-ray-zee! You have to marvel at the lunacy of a language in which your house can burn down While it is burning up You fill out a form by filling it in In which your alarm clock goes off by going on If pro is the opposite of con, what is the opposite of progress? Well, English was invented by people, not computers And reflects the creativity of the human race So that's why when the stars are out, they're visible But when the lights are out, they're invisible When I wind up my watch I start it, but when I wind up this rap, I end it English is cuh-ray-zee!

    Il Te Faudra Bien Revenir
    Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

How many kinds of sweet flowers grow In an English country garden? I'll tell you now of some that I know And those I miss you'll surely pardon Daffodils, heart's ease and flox Meadowsweet and lady smocks Gentain, lupine and tall hollihocks Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, forget-me-nots In an English country garden (In an English country garden) How many insects come here and go Through our English country garden? I'll tell you now of some that I know And those I miss you'll surely pardon Fireflies, moths and bees Spiders climbing in the trees Butterflies that sway on the cool gentle breeze Their are snakes, ants that sting And creeping things In an English country garden (In an English country garden) How many songbirds fly to and fro Through our English country garden? I'll tell you now of some that I know And those I miss you'll surely pardon Bobolink, cuckoo and quail Tanager and cardinal Bluebird, lark, thrush and nightingale There is joy in the spring When the birds begin to sing In an English country garden (In an English country garden) Robin (Robin, robin) Don't forget the robin (Don't forget the robin) Robin (Robin, robin) Don't forget the robin...

Il Suffit De Passer Le Pont
    Composer(s): Georges Brassens
    Performer(s): Georges Brassens

Il suffit de passer le pont
    C'est tout de suite l'aventure
    Laisse-moi tenir ton jupon
    J't'emmèn' visiter la nature
L'herbe est douce à Pâques fleuries
    Jetons mes sabots, tes galoches
    Et, légers comme des cabris
Courons après les sons de cloches
Ding din don! les matines sonnent
    En l'honneur de notre bonheur
Ding din dong! faut l'dire à personne
J'ai graissé la patte au sonneur

    Laisse-moi tenir ton jupon
    Courons, guilleret, guillerette

    Laisse-moi tenir ton jupon

    Laisse-moi tenir ton jupon

    English Boy
Composer(s): Pete Townshend Performer(s): Pete Townshend

Ruth: Hello, Ruth Streeting here once again with "Streeting's Street" where you get the word straight from the street This is the show that dishes the dirt on the dirt Strictly no rock star bullshit on my show I don't review pop anymore, I talk about anything I like ... or anything I hate Talking of which, remember that clapped-out 60's hell-raiser Ray High? Rumour has it the sad old lush can't do it anymore ... I mean "make records" I'm an English boy I was brought up right Hold me down And I will bite I know no fear I serve with joy I'm proud to be here An English boy I feel like a stray dog Blurred like a movie You say you've come to arrest me But you're just trying to test me I'm bored with your prejudice Spreading like a fever Your promises to train me Are just attempts to restrain me I am an English boy Precisely made You can pin me down I am not afraid I show no fear I will serve with joy Proud to be here An English boy Use me like a headline Cut pieces to pieces I'm black on the tube line Red on the touch-line Freezing up the future Stopping every stop-watch You say we're moving like an oil slick Thicker than a house brick I'm an English boy I was brought up right If you raise your dress Then I will bite My voice is clear I got perfect poise Good to be down here With all the English boys And I don't know where I am now Or where I'm gonna go I keep going round and round on the circle line Like some demented kind of commuter Trying to avoid paying for my ticket I'm a lost soul I read about myself in the newspapers I'm a pig I'm a thug I've got nowhere to go but down Ruth: I hear his manager, Rastus Knight, is pulling what's left of his hair out The only thing Ray's writing these days are large checks to his booze merchants He's a serious recluse now Hasn't seen daylight or another woman since his old lady walked out two years ago Poor little sausage, brooding in that twenty-two room glass mansion Life's a bitch, and so am I Feel like I'm kicking at a dead man Kicking in the chorus I'm broken by hatred While politicians just ignore us You never gave me any value You didn't give me any reason There's no tools, and no toys For any English boy I'm an English boy I was brought up right Hold me down And I will bite Know no fear I will serve with joy Proud to be here An English boy, yeah! I'm an English boy, yeah! I'm an English boy I'm an English boy No tools, no toys for any English boys English boy English boy

    Il Suffirait
    Composer(s): Nicolas Peyrac
    Performer(s): Nicolas Peyrac

    Il suffirait d'une colombe
    D'un peu de tendresse oubliée
    D'un retard de quelques secondes
    Dans le cours de l'éternité
Il suffirait que Dieu le père
Celui qui se fait tant prier
    Retombe amoureux de la Terre
    Comme Adam devant le pommier
    Il suffirait qu'une rivière
Décide un beau jour pour changer
    De se promener solitaire
    Dans la rivière d'à côté
Il suffirait que tu me dises
    Que ce serait folie d'essayer
Pour que je fasse la bêtise
    De crier à l'Humanité

    L'amour pourrait changer le monde
    Ne sois jamais désenchanté
    Quand l'aigle épouse la colombe
La Terre se remet à tourner
Les hommes pourraient changer le monde
Il ne suffit pas de prier
    Quand l'aigle épouse la colombe
    C'est que tout peut recommencer

    Il suffirait que tu reviennes
Planter le maïs et le blé
Que ta main étreigne la mienne
    Comme l'amitié retrouvée
Il suffirait que tu la chantes
    Celle qu'on nomme liberté
Pour que peu à peu tu inventes
    Les monts qu'on voudrait oublier

    L'amour pourrait changer le monde
    Ne sois jamais désenchanté
    Quand l'aigle épouse la colombe
La Terre se remet à tourner
Les hommes pourraient changer le monde
Il ne suffit pas de prier
    Quand l'aigle épouse la colombe
    C'est que tout peut recommencer

    Il suffirait d'une colombe
    D'un peu de sagesse oubliée
    D'un pardon de quelques secondes
    D'une blessure refermée
Il suffirait de peu de choses
Bien peu de choses en vérité
Pour que les paupières mi closes
    Demain tu m'écoutes chanter

    L'amour pourrait changer le monde
    Ne sois jamais désenchanté
    Quand l'aigle épouse la colombe
La Terre se remet à tourner
Les hommes pourraient changer le monde
Il ne suffit pas de prier

Il Sole Verde Tornerà ((English & French Versions: The Happy Days (by Charles Aznavour); Les Jours Heureux (by Charles Aznavour)) Composer(s): Charles Aznavour - Vito Pallavicini Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

    E diventa color sangue

    England Swings
Composer(s): Roger Miller First release: Roger Miller - 1965 Covered by multiple other artists

England swings like a pendulum do
Bobbies on bicycles, two by two
Westminster Abbey the tower of Big Ben
The rosy red cheeks of the little children

Now, if you huff and puff and you fina'lly save enough
Money up to take your family on a trip across the sea
Take a tip before you take your trip; let me tell you where to go
    Go to Engeland
    Oh

Mama's old pajamas and your papa's mustache
Falling out the window sill, frolic in the grass
Tryin' to mock the way they talk fun but all in vain
Gaping at the dapper men with derby hats and canes

    Luci azzurrate sulla mia poltrona
    nel jet che sta voltando
    nel buio che sta intorno
    io vedo solo te
ma questa notte lenta come il tempo
    pian piano impallidisce
    s'incendia l'orizzonte
    e sorge il sole

    Sole, sole del mattino
tu che già la stai baciando
    dille che io sto volando
    fra le nubi bianche
    per tornar da lei
    Sole, sole del mattino
    dalle un bacio sulle labbra
    dille che io sto tornando
    e che il mio cuore
    già è vicino a lei

    Sole, sole del mattino
tu che già la stai baciando
    dille che io sto volando
    fra le nubi bianche
    per tornar da lei
    Sole, sole del mattino
    dalle un bacio sulle labbra
    dille che io sto tornando
    e che il mio cuore
    già è vicino a lei
    e che il mio cuore
    è già vicino a lei

    England 1914
Composer(s): Ralph McTell Performer(s): Ralph McTell

Night stirs her inky finger in the water of the day
The tired sun drops slowly in the sky
And everywhere the gentle air hangs heavy with the day-song
Evening calls the lamplighter to come

Children's wooden hoops go clattering down the street
Soon they're called inside, it's getting late
The brown canal, now splashed with red reflects on swallows' wings
The lamplighter knows the song the evening sings

But the gas-lamps stand like soldiers, hiss warnings to the wind
Their evening vespers prophecy of war
The world divides and men take sides, the spark bursts into flame
Nothing can be quite the same again

A dog barks in the distance, a child cries in her sleep
The night waits for the dawn with baited breath
The old school, the old rule, rung out on a muffin man's bell
The lamplighter has made his nightly call

Dreams of hope and peace sent clattering down the streets
Empty like the promises they've made
The wars rage on, and if I'm wrong, will someone please explain
That peace is not the lamplighter, 'cause he's not coming back again

    Il Sognatore
    Composer(s): Peppino Di Capri
    Performer(s): Peppino Di Capri

    Forse continuo a dire forse
    E come fanno i sognatori
    Riesco a mettermi da parte
Mentre il mondo mi continua a dire no

    Versions In Other Languages:
1965 - Sytten Ti (Otto Brandenburg)

    Engine, engine number nine
    Coming down the railroad line
How much farther back did she get off
Old brown suitcase that she carried
    I've looked for it ev'rywhere
It just ain't here among the rest
And I'm a little upset, yes... tell me

    Engine, engine number nine
    Coming down the railroad line
I know she got on in Baltimore
A hundred and ten miles ain't much distance
But it sure do make a diff'rence
I don't think she loves me anymore

    I warned her of dangers
    Don't speak to strangers
    Did she find new romance
    Warmer lips to kiss her
    Arms to hold her tighter
    Stirring new fires inside her
How I wish that it was me instead
Of he that stands beside her

    Engine, engine number nine
    Coming down the railroad line
I know she got on in Baltimore
A hundred and ten miles ain't much distance
But it sure do make a diff'rence
I don't think she loves me anymore

No I don't think she loves me anymore
I dont think she loves me ...

Composer(s): Willy Brezza - Nino Rosso
    First release: Nino Rosso
    Covered by multiple other artists

    Amor te ne vai
E tanto triste tu lo sai
Che giorao inutili vivro pensando a te
Darei la vita per averti sempre qui vicino a me

Come una voce che ormai conosco già
Questo silenzio di te mi parlerà
    Nulla potrebbe cambiar
    Anche se devo aspettar

    Amor, te ne vai
    Ma tornerai
    Ancor

    "Buonanotte amore
    Ti rivedro nei miei sogni
    Buananotte
Buananotte a te che sei lontano"

Come una voce che ormai conosco già
Questo silenzio di te mi parlerà
    Amor te ne vai
    Ma tornerai
    Ancor

    Enfin Le Printemps
Composer(s): René Rouzaud - Marguerite Monnot
    Performer(s): Edith Piaf; Raquel Bitton

    Vises, mon Jules
    Cette crapule
Qui nous tombe sur les bras
    Depuis le temps
    Qu'on l'attend
    Comme une bombe, le voilà
    Le voilà, le printemps
    Tout fleuri de lilas
    Qui rapplique en dansant
    En dansant la java
    Le voilà, ce voyou
    Au son d' l'accordéon
    Qui court le guilledou
    En poussant la chanson
    Entend comme ça chahute
    Dans tous les palpitants
    L'hiver se tire des flûtes
    Enfin le printemps...

    Ne fais pas la tête
    Tu serais bien bête
    De te faire du mouron
    Quand sur toute la terre
    Flotte un petit air
    De révolution
    J'ai sorti pour toi
    Ma robe de soie
    Mes colifichets
    Pour dormir sur l'herbe
    En écoutant tinter les muguets...

    Vises, mon Jules
    Cette crapule
Qui nous tombe sur les bras
    Depuis le temps
    Qu'on l'attend
    Comme une bombe, le voilà
    Le revoilà, le printemps
    Tout fleuri de lilas
    Qui rapplique en dansant
    En dansant la java
'y a la foule dans les rues
    Qui suit les orphéons
    Des épaules toutes nues
    Et du monde au balcon
    C'est la fête aux poètes
    Et je t'aime éperduement
Et ça tourne dans ma tête
    Enfin le printemps...

J'ai le vertige dans tes yeux
    Je voltige dans du bleu
Je vois double et c'est mieux
    Vise mon cœur tout là-haut...
    Qui fait du cerf-volant
    Rattrape-le si tu peux
    Mon amour, mon amour
    Qui fout le camp...
    Enfin le printemps!!!
