Come along come on with me
To a place just down the street
Where the kids are
Movin', Dancin', Groovin'
To the uptown beat
Of the discotheque
At the discotheque
Do what you wanna do
Be what you wanna be
Get yourself out of that dull routine
Got no time no worry hurry
Everybody's there
Laughin', singin', dancin', swingin'
Music fills the air
At the discotheque
Do what you wanna do
Go where the action is
That's where the incrowd lives
Do what you never did before
Off in a corner
A table for two
Soft lights above
Music for love
A boy and a girl
A brand new world
Everything's gonna be alright
Tonight's gonna be the night
'Cause you're gonna be there too
And I'm gonna be with you
And we're gonna dance all night
And I'm gonna hold you tight
Everything's gonna turn out right
And ya gonna be mine

(At Your Best) You Are Love
Composer(s): Ronald Isley - Rudolph Isley - O'Kelly Isley - Marvin Isley - Ernie Isley - Chris Jasper
First release by: The Isley Brothers - 1976 Covered by multiple other artists
Love, let me know, let me know Love, let me know, let me know, let me know
When I feel what I feel Sometimes it's hard for me to tell you so You may not be in the mood To learn what you think you know
There are times when I find You wanna keep yourself from me When I don't have the strength I'm just a mirror of what I see
But at your best you are love You're a positive motivating force within my life Should you ever feel the need to wonder why Let me know, let me know Love Let me know, let me know
When you feel what you feel Oh, how hard for me to understand So many things have taken place Before this love affair began
But if you feel, oh, like I feel Confusion can give way to doubt For there are times when I fall short of what I say What I say I'm all about, all about
But at your best you are love You're a positive motivating force within my life Should you ever feel the need to wonder why Let me know, let me know
No, no, no, no
Tell me what it is (Tell me what it is) There's no need to make believe (Make believe, no need to make believe) Look beyond your world (Look beyond your world) Try to find a place for me (Try to find, find a place for me)
'Cause at your best you are love You're a positive motivating force within my life Should you ever feel the need to wonder why Let me know, let me know Let me know, let me know, let me know, oh... Love Oh, baby Stay at your best, baby, yeah Please do it for God's sakes
And The Mouse Police Never Sleeps
Composer(s): Ian Anderson
Performer(s): Jethro Tull
Muscled, black with steel-green eye Swishing through the rye grass With thoughts of mouse-and-apple pie Tail balancing at half-mast. ... And the mouse police never sleeps Lying in the cherry tree Savage bed foot-warmer of purest feline ancestry Look out, little furry folk! He's the all-night working cat Eats but one in every ten Leaves the others on the mat ... And the mouse police never sleeps Waiting by the cellar door Window-box town crier Birth and death registrar With claws that rake a furrow red Licensed to mutilate From warm milk on a lazy day To dawn patrol on hungry hate ... No, the mouse police never sleeps Climbing on the ivy Windy roof-top weathercock Warm-blooded night on a cold tile
A Bar On The Piccola Marina
Composer(s): Noel Coward
Performer(s): Noel Coward
Now I'd like to sing you a new song that I wrote just last
summer when I was having a holiday on the Island of Capri
Each evening I used to sit on the piazza and watch these hordes
of middle-aged ladies arriving by every boat
Obviously, all set to have themselves a ball
So startled was I by this rather macabre spectacle
that I wrote this song about a respectable English matron
who discovered in the nick of time that life was for living
I'll sing you a song, it's not very long
It's moral may disconcert you
Of a mother and wife who for most of her life
Was trained for domestic virtue
She had two strapping daughters and a rather dull son
And a much duller husband who, at sixty-one
Elected to retire ..... and later on expire
Sing Halleluhua, heigh-nonny-no
Heigh-nonny-no, heigh-nonny-no
He joined the feathered choir
Having laid him to rest by special request
In a family mausoleum
As his widow repaired to the home they had shared
Her heart sang a gay TeDeum
And then in the middle of the funeral wake
While adding some liquor to the Tipsy Cake
She briskly cried "That's done
My life's at last begun"
Sing Halleluhah, heigh-nonny-no
Heigh-nonny-no, heigh-nonny-no
"It's time I had some fun"
Today, though hardly a jolly day
At least I'll set me free
We'll all have a lovely holiday
On the Island of Capri
In a bar on the Piccola Marina
Life called to Mrs. Wentworth-Brewster
Fate beckoned her and introduced her
Into a rather queer, unfamiliar atmosphere
She'd just sit there, propping up the bar
Beside a fisherman who sang to a guitar
When accused of having gone too far
She made reply "Funiculi, just fancy me, funicula"
When he bellowed "Que bella Signorina"
Sheer ecstasy at once produced a wild shriek
From Mrs. Wentworth-Brewster
Changing her whole demeanour
When both her daughters and her son said "Please come home, Mama"
She answered, rather bibulously "Who do you think you are?"
Nobody can afford to be so la-di-bloody-da
In a bar on the Piccola Marina
Every fisherman cried "Viva, viva and que ragazza"
When she sat on the grand piazza
Everybody would rise
Every fisherman cried "Viva, viva, que belle Inglese"
Someone even said "Whoops-a-daisy"
Which was quite a surprise
Each evening, with some light excuse and beaming with goodwill
She'd just slip into something loose and totter down the hill
To that bar on the Piccola Marina
Where love came to Mrs. Wentworth-Brewster
Hot flushes of delight suffused her
Right round the bend she went, picture her astonishment
Day in, day out, she would gad about
Because she felt she was no longer on the shelf
Night out, night in, knocking back the gin
She cried "Funicula, funiculi, funnic-yourself"
Just for fun, three young sailors from Messina
Bowed low to Mrs. Wentworth-Brewster
Said "Scusi", and abruptly goosed her
Then there was quite a scene
Her family in floods of tears said "Leave these men, Mama"
She said, They,re just high-spirited, like all Italians are"
And most of them have a great deal more to offer than Papa
In a bar on the Piccola Marina
A Beautiful Friendship
Composer(s): Donald Kahn - Stanley Styne
Performer(s): Nat King Cole
and multiple other artists
This is the end of a beautiful friendship
It ended a moment ago
This is the end of a beautiful friendship
I know
'Cause your eyes told me so
We've always been
Like sister and brother
Until tonight
When we looked at each other
That was the end of a beautiful friendship
And just the beginning of love
That was the end of a beautiful friendship
And just the beginning of love!
Beautiful Home Composer(s): A.P. Carter Performer(s): The Carter Family
There's a beautiful home Far over the sea There are mansions of bliss For you and for me Oh that beautiful home So wonderf'ly fair That the savior for me Has gone to prepare
"There's a beautiful home", far over the sea "There's a beautiful home", for you and for me "And it's glittering pow'r", the sun outshines "And that beautiful home", someday shall be mine
In that beautiful home, a crown I shall wear When the glorified throne, that glory to share But the joys of that home, can never be known 'Till the savior we see, upon his white throne
"There's a beautiful home", far over the sea "There's a beautiful home", for you and for me "And it's glittering pow'r", the sun outshines "And that beautiful home", someday shall be mine
Lay still, Steven And I'll tell you a bedtime story I'll tell you a bedtime story That's not for all children It's a very special story That only special children will understand It's a half-awake story And it will be better if you close your eyes It's a story that takes place in a dream Like other nightmares you have known It's a dream that Alice has dreamed You can dream along with him You can follow Alice down the staircase Deep down the stairs To the pit where he doesn't want to go, but he has to
If you go to sleep now, Steven You can go down the long and endless stairway And sing sweet songs to Alice and free him And if you can't get to sleep, Steven And in the middle of the night you get out of bed When everything is quiet and the trees are still And the birds are hiding from the dark You can lie down on your bedroom floor And press your ear tightly to the boards If you listen very carefully You can hear Alice searching for a way out Forever chasing rainbows

Do you recall some years ago? Up in the mountains that were white with snow inside a cavern McDougal he was plannin' there's gonna be a showdown with somebody he knows
Well he's been there a year or so something will happen very soon I know I hear him playin' his bagpipes every mornin' I think that it's a warmin' he's gathering the clan
Soon you'll hear the sound of people shouting you will see the claymores in their hands if you knew the reason for their fighting you would never understand
Oh Tweedle Dee Oh Tweedle Dum The tune McDougal always used to hum While he was fightin' his rival clan McGregor Dishonour he would never the tartan of his clan

A Better Moon Composer(s): Ian Anderson Performer(s): Ian Anderson
I see you better now Shaded in deeper blue Hardly needing to carry The find-your-way lamp down to the river And tonight flies a better moon Sad water buffalo lie fast near the shallows a splash revealing the fly-catching fishes Dark Gods silently watching And tonight flies a better moon I guess you've known lovers here, compliant in passion Softly laid in the old reed bed, harshly lit in the noon sun And tonight flies a better moon
Now cloaked in this milky light, new as the virgin dawn Shrouded sweetly in all kinds of mystery You turn, smile and then are gone And tonight flies a better moon And tonight flies a better moon And tonight flies a better moon
A Better Place To Be
Composer(s): Harry Chapin
Performer(s): Harry Chapin
It was an early morning bar room And the place just opened up And the little man come in so fast and Started at his cup And the broad who served the whisky She was a big old friendly girl And she tried to fight her empty nights By smilin' at the world
And she said "Hey Bub, It's been awhile Since you been around Where the hell you been hidin'? And why you look so down?"
But the little man just sat there like he'd never heard a sound
The waitress she gave out with a cough And acting not the least put off She spoke once again
She said, "I don't want to bother you Consider it's understood I know I'm not no beauty queen But I sure can listen good"
And the little man took his drink in his hand And he raised it to his lips He took a couple of sips And he told the waitress this story
"I am the midnight watchman down at Miller's Tool and Die And I watch the metal rusting, and I watch the time go by A week ago at the diner I stopped to get a bite And this here lovely lady she sat two seats from my right And Lord, Lord, Lord she was alright
"Oh she was so damned beautiful that she'd warm a winter's frost But she was long past lonely, and well nigh unto lost Now I'm not much of a mover, or a pick-em-up easy guy But I decided to glide on over, and give her one good try And Lord, Lord, Lord she was worth a try
"Tongued-tied like a school boy, I stammered out some words But it did not really matter much, 'cause I don't think she heard She just looked clear on through me to a space back in my head And it shamed me into silence, as quietly she said 'If you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me Cause I know I'm going nowhere, and anywhere's a better place to be Anywhere's a better place to be'
"I drove her to my boarding house, and I took her up to my room And I went to turn on the only light to brighten up the gloom But she said, 'Please leave the light off, Oh I don't mind the dark.' And as her clothes all tumbled 'round her, I could hear my heart The moonlight shown upon her as she lay back in my bed It was the kind of scene I only had imagined in my head I just could not believe it, to think that she was real And as I tried to tell her she said 'Shhh .. I know just how you feel And if you want to come here with me, then that's all right with me 'Cause I've been oh so lonely, lovin' someone is a better way to be anywhere's a better way to be'
"The morning come so swiftly but I held her in my arms But she slept like a baby, snug and safe from harm I did not want to share her with the world or break the mood So before she woke I went out and brought us both some food
"I came back with my paper bag, to find out she was gone She'd left a six word letter saying 'It's time that I moved on'"
The waitress took a bar rag, and she wiped it across her eyes And as she spoke her voice came out as something like a sigh She said "I wish that I was beautiful, or that you were halfway blind And I wish I weren't so dog-gone fat, I wish that you were mine And I wish that you'd come with me, when I leave for home For we both know all about loneliness, and livin' all alone"
And the little man Looked at the empty glass in his hand And he smiled a crooked grin He said, "I guess I'm out of gin And know we both have been so lonely And if you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me 'Cause I know I'm goin' nowhere and anywhere's a better place to be"
Of all the people in the world Why you and I With lovers here and everywhere We don't care enough to try Why couldn't all the hurt we're feeling Now have passed us by Couldn't love have picked A better place to die
And of all the hearts in the world, why yours and mine How could we go from so much love to so much hurt tonight But it's in our hearts and it's in our bed and it's even in your eyes Couldn't love have picked a better place to die
Somewhere out there there's lovers who want to be free Why couldn't love have died with them instead of here with you and me But it's pityful how all these tears won't bring it back to life Couldn't love have picked a better place to die
Oh, couldn't love have picked a better place to die
A Better Place To Live
Composer(s): Dolly Parton
Performer(s): Dolly Parton
There's a bit of magic In a simple little smile Something that just makes life seem A little more worthwhile And there's a world of meaning In the touch of someone's hand A gentle touch that let's your brother Know you understand Oh if people would stop taking And just once try to give We could make the world we're living in A better place to live La la la la la la la la la la la la
And if we'd love one another instead of finding faults We could afford the price of peace, love is all it costs Oh wouldn't it be great to live and sing in harmony Everybody take your brother's hand and sing my song with me
La la la la la la la la la la la la
All life has to offer that's what most folks desire But offer nothing in return, cause they don't seem to care And if we'd ask to be forgiven and be willing to forgive We could make the world we're living in a better place to live And if we'd all climb together, we could climb the highest hill We could make the world we're living in a better place to live
And if we'd love one another instead of finding faults We could afford the price of peace, love is all it costs Oh wouldn't it be great to live and sing in harmony Everybody take your brother's hand and sing my song with me

A Blossom Fell
Composer(s): Howard Barnes - Harold Cornelius - Dominic John)
Performer(s): Nat King Cole
and multiple other artists
A blossom fell, from off a tree
It settled softly on the lips you turned to me
The gypsies say, and I know why
"A falling blossom only touches lips that lie"
A blossom fell, and very soon
I saw you kissing someone new beneath the moon
I thought you loved me, you said you loved me
We planned together to dream forever
The dream has ended, for true love died
The night a blossom fell and touched two lips that lied
A blossom fell, and very soon
I saw you kissing someone new beneath the moon
I thought you loved me, you said you loved me
We planned together to dream forever
The dream has ended, for true love died
The night a blossom fell and touched two lips that lied
