De 30.000 potjes 'Faux Gras de Gaia' die in de winkelrekken lagen
als diervriendelijk alternatief voor foie gras, zijn uitverkocht. Dat
zegt directeur Anne de Greef van Gaia. Gaia wil de actie volgend jaar
herhalen. Naast Lidl en Carrefour die het product nu al aanboden, zijn
andere supermarktketens geïnteresseerd. Gaia hoopt het product ook in
Frankrijk op de markt te brengen.
"Sinds vorige week is de faux gras uitverkocht", zegt De Greef. "De
depots van Lidl en Carrefour zijn leeg." Naast die supermarktketens
boden ook biowinkels het plantaardige product aan. De faux gras is
gemaakt op basis van onder meer champagne en truffel.
Verdrievoudiging De
Greef acht voor de volgende jaarwisseling een productie van 100.000
potjes mogelijk, een meer dan verdrievoudiging. Lidl heeft al te kennen
gegeven opnieuw te willen verkopen, van Carrefour verwacht Gaia
hetzelfde. Daarnaast zijn nog twee andere supermarkten geïnteresseerd.
"En als we het product via onze zusterorganisatie ook op de Franse
markt kunnen brengen, wordt het nog een heel ander verhaal", zegt De
Greef. Dat zou de verkoopcijfers sterk omhoog stuwen.
Dwangvoederen De
potjes faux gras kosten 2,99 euro, waarvan 0,40 euro naar Gaia gaat.
"Daarmee zetten we nieuwe acties en campagnes op tegen het
dwangvoederen", aldus De Greef. "En vooral: elk potje dat verkocht is,
is iemand die misschien geen foie gras eet dit jaar."
