Kermis Impressions.

Somewhere deep in the Flemish country,there where East-Flemings and Brabanders each other reach the hand,there is it so lovely Meldert.Best is it to discover by accident,because when you have to look for it,a meldertse curse perhaps should unroll on your vocabulary.

On sunday the second of July 2000 the village was awaked suddenly out of its summersiësta,otherwise so peaceful,by a grandiose barbecue.beforehand our kind host Johan and dito sweet lady welcomed us all by their home.Was the offered appetite-stimulating aperitief of the house a wise idea?The annoncement talked really about an orgy!Soon however the family-caravan moved on direction Meldert-city.The extended sunbaked lawn behind the church smiled us.The locally reception-committee waited for us with spoon and fork, while the music-band of hunger and thirst was playing cheerfully,with motto:"music during eat".

The plastic-plates bent dangerous among the culinary weight,while one finger of my fork succumbed below the pressure.I tought just on Euro 2000-circumstances where plastic-cups had to help prevented hooligan-vandalism.

With a satisfied feeling,out of the gastric region,I look around the Breugelaans kermis-scene.A motley horde relations drowned in noise and number the seemingly less in number and more modest villagers.The latters were referred literally to the sides of the square.The relations had hauled in the centre-part of the lawn.

Host Johan and Co didn't sit still.While two Morlion's sitting the music-company kept stand-up,Johan ran,like a devil who does all,the soul of his body because to fill up all the orders of drinks.Maenwhile the youth manifested digestive on the spring-castlle. Soon however the time to go was come for my wife and I.With satisfaction I looked once again the eating battle-fields.I was aware the succession of the family is ensured,the Meldertse kermis saved.
