Each winter animals like foxes are killed collectively. 21 November 2013, the breeding farm of blue foxes in Nanwangcun, LINTONG (临潼) bloody killing scenes can be seen everywhere. The tragic cries of the blue foxes, clubbed to death, frighten their fellow foxes in Death Row.
Several tens of thousands of blue foxes are killed in 2 weeks.
The Nanwangcun, LINTONG (临潼) breeding farm has existed for almost 10 years. It has 20 to 30 breeders plus more than 10.000 “fur” animals, such as foxes and badgers. Between the end of November and beginning of December, all are slaughtered except the “studs” During these killing days, even the air is full of the smell of blood.
During the 9 months between reproduction and slaughter, the blue foxes, which promise wealth to the villagers, cost approximately 300 yuans (36€) in upkeep per month.
This year the price fixed by the wholesalers coming from HEBEI 河北 (see « the Fur you are wearing http://urgence-animaux-de-chine.over- blog.com/article-les-fourrures-que-vous-portez-68388519.html ) is from 500 to 600 yuans per pelt (60 to 72 € ) the margin is not large, but the cost will be even greater if the time spent breeding is lengthened. So the slaughtering begins when the wholesalers arrive. In some places, up to 200 or 300 can be killed per day.
Not being equipped with slaughter houses, the massacre often takes place at the farm, under the trees, sometimes even next to the cages. Seeing their fellow foxes clubbed with sticks, the other foxes crouch trembling in their cages. All slaughtering and skinning takes place at the farm.
The fur wholesalers coming from the HEBEI province choose the blue foxes, the chosen are slaughtered on the spot.

How is it possible to kill in this way, animals that have been brought up since babies ?Old Wang, a breeder says he has invested so much in order to become rich, he can’t deal with anything else. Moreover, all the breeders do the same and for more than 10 years it has become the tradition.
Old Wang says that at first he couldn’t bring himself to kill (these animals) , he employed people to kill and skin at 10 yuans (1€20 ) per head. Later, in order to lower costs, he had no alternative but to grit his teeth (because of the cruelty ) “Now, even my grandson doesn’t cry anymore.”
The villagers think that the foxes are bred only to be killed, skinned and their pelts sold. If your heart can’t deal with it, then don’t do it. The breeders think that it’s “a luxury” to be spoken to about humanism, or ethics, because they’re not rich. And anyway, the fox breeding project is backed by the government. At the same time, in order to save money, the breeders don’t buy any more meat to feed the foxes. The foxes are fed with the flesh of the slaughtered.

The fur industry is developing rapidly in China, the livestock are greater one than another. One of the main reasons: this industry is weakening daily in the developed countries due to the enormous pressure from environmental and ethic protection. To such a point that some countries only keep the reproduction know-how and sell the reproducing foxes to under-developed countries for breeding on a big scale…..

Beste dierenvriend,
Dit is Gozer. Hij is pas drie jaar oud. Vandaag gaat onze nieuwsbrief helemaal over hem. Want Gozer zit al veel te lang gefrustreerd opgesloten in een kennel. Bijna zijn halve leven! Terwijl hij zo ontzettend graag in een huis bij een nieuwe baas wil zijn. Het liefst wil hij een plekje op de bank, samen met de baas televisie kijken, spelen en lekker uit wandelen gaan. Gozer is een hond die als je zijn vertrouwen wint, een gouden hond voor je wordt! Wie geeft hem eindelijk een welverdiend thuis en liefde?
Het is een tragisch verhaal dat van Gozer; een mooie stoere Duitse herderreu van nu bijna 3 jaar oud. Lange tijd hing zijn leven aan een zijden draadje en dreigde hij gedood te worden of verkocht naar het buitenland als werkhond. Ruim een jaar heeft hij geïsoleerd in de opslag gezeten nadat hij toen hij anderhalf jaar oud was en volop in de pubertijd en bovendien een teef en 10 pups thuis had, op straat tijdens het uitlaten een klein hondje beet. Dit eerste bijtincident van hem was gelijk aanleiding voor de politie om zowel Gozer, als zijn teef en alle pups in beslag te nemen. Met het kleine hondje liep het gelukkig goed af. Gozer kwam in de opslag al gauw op de isoleerafdeling terecht omdat hij niet tegen het kennelleven bestand was en daardoor zwaar gefrustreerd raakte. Hij heeft daar heel lang eenzaam opgesloten gezeten en werd door de opslaghouder als gevaarlijk beschouwd.
UIT DE ISOLATIE, MAAR TOCH NOG ALTIJD OPGESLOTEN IN EEN KENNEL
Gelukkig mocht de Werkgroep Hulp Inbeslaggenomen Honden hem in juli uiteindelijk herplaatsen. Al direct bij het afhalen bleek dat Gozer niet gevaarlijk was, maar wel erg gefrustreerd. Gozer is een herder uit werklijnen en heeft daardoor duidelijk behoefte om actief bezig te zijn. Helaas zit Gozer nu nog altijd op onze kosten in een kennel in een pension te wachten op een baas. Wij zijn onlangs met hem op bezoek gegaan bij mensen die interesse in hem hadden. Het was prachtig om te zien hoe blij hij werd door eindelijk weer in een huis te zijn, hoe hij contact zocht met de mensen in huis en gelijk ging spelen. Hij veranderde van de zelfstandige hond die zijn eigen plan trekt in een hond die blij is, contact zoekt en wil spelen. Helaas bleek tijdens dit bezoek dat Gozer beslist niet met katten om kan gaan.
WAT VOOR EEN THUIS GOZER NODIG HEEFT
Wij zoeken met spoed voor deze bijzondere karakterhond iemand die hem kan leren dat met mensen samen werken veel leuker is dan alleen je eigen plan trekken. Iemand die ook geen katten heeft en geen kleine hondjes, want dat gaat helaas niet samen met Gozer. Wij zoeken iemand die Gozer wil laten kennis maken met de betrouwbare mens, de mens die er altijd voor je is en waar je op kan bouwen. Iets wat hij helaas in zijn leven nog niet gekend heeft. Gozer is gecastreerd en hij wordt geplaatst met een plaatsingsovereenkomst. Vanwege het bijtincident met het kleine hondje heeft Gozer een aanlijn- en muilkorfgebod.

The Australian company's practices violate Namibia's Animal Protection Actand push the threatened species even closer to extinction. And the best way to stop it is toexpose Hatem Yavuz's senseless cruelty to the world.
Ending this bloodbath won't hurt Namibia's economy. In fact, making the seals a tourist attraction would benefit the Namibian tourist economy 300 times more than Hatem Yavuz does.

VICTORY OF OIPA IN INDIA: ELEPHANT TRADING BAN IN HARYANA!
The Haryana Cattle Fairs (Amendment) Bill 2013 has been passed to put a ban on the sale and purchase of elephants in the cattle fairs. Despite a ban on elephant trading, jumbos can be bought and sold in Haryana, thanks to loopholes in the state's Village Cattle Fair Act (1970). The act, amended twice, continues to have elephants on its list of tradable animals at rural cattle fairs. The state act violates the Wildlife Protection Act (1972) that puts elephants in the protected category scheduled one and bars their domestication. The definition of tradable cattle in Haryana includes buffaloes, camels, cows, donkeys, elephants, horses and mules. Elephant became national heritage animal of India, the international representative of OIPA in India Naresh Kadyan approach the Ministry of Environment and Forest to introduce legislation and then moved public interest litigation before the Delhi High Court to include elephant in the Emblem and Names (Prevention of improper use) Act 1950; likewise Abhishek Kadyan, Hon. Animal Welfare Officer, AWBI taken up this matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs, where as Miss Sukanya Kadyan moved this matter before the Election Commission of India to freeze the symbol of Bahujan Samaj Party. Miss Sukanya Kadyan taken up the matter of amendment in the Haryana Cattle Fairs Act definition because it allows the trade of jumbo in Haryana, which is illegal, after a long battle of three years, at last Haryana Legislative Assembly agreed to amend the said legislation, elephant word deleted approving Haryana Cattle Fair Bill on September 10, 2013. OIPA representative in India, Naresh Kadyan, moved public interest litigation before the Rajasthan High Court and got ban order, likewise elephant ivory products manufacturing and trading was allowed under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme of Khadi and Village Industries Commission. This matter was also taken up with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (Ministry of Environment and Forest) by the Abhishek Kadyan and Miss Sukanya Kadyan jointly, notice was issued to KVIC by WCCB and at last KVIC was compelled to amend its negative list, now all ban articles are covered under the negative list of KVIC. OIPA appreciated the performances of OIPA chapter in India under the able leadership of the representative Naresh Kadyan.
Following a nine month-long investigation authorized by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) of circuses across the nation, the AWBI has decided to stop registration of elephants for performances under the Performing Animals Rules in view of the cruelty and abuse suffered by the animals. Indian representative of OIPA Naresh Kadyan demands not to renew the registration of existed performing elephants, he further asked AWBI and PETA to lodge criminal case against the tainted circuses after rescuing all abused animals.
The investigation was conducted by a team including representatives from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India and an NGO, Animal Rahat.
In addition to its support for a ban on the use of animals in circuses, the AWBI has also decided to put a stop on the use of injured and aged animals at such performances. It added that legal notices will be served to circuses that use sick, injured and unregistered animals.
PETA India's findings will be forwarded to the Central Zoo Authority for further action.
"The findings from our investigations reveal that cruelty to animals is inherent in the circus business, a conclusion that has already led many countries to ban the use of all animals in circuses," said Dr Manilal Valliyate, director of veterinary affairs at PETA. The investigation was conducted from November 2012 to July 2013. Findings from the probe include documentation of apparent violations of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA), 1960, Performing Animals Rules and the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
In past OIPA, Indian People for Animals team, raised many issues about animal abuse by Jumbo circuses in Panipat (Haryana) along with the Amar Circus in Nagpur (Maharashtra), AWBI and CZA team inspected the circuses but animals are being still with the circuses, not yet rescued and rehabilitated. De schokkende reportage van dierenrechtenorganisatie PETA over het lot van de langharige konijntjes op Chinese angoraboerderijen heeft zijn impact niet gemist. Modeketen H&M heeft besloten alle kleding van angorawol uit de rekken te halen.
Naast het schrappen van alle angorawollen kleren uit het aanbod, biedt H&M ook de mogelijkheid om alle kledingstukken waar de ondertussen beruchte wol in verwerkt zit, terug te brengen. Ook wie geen aankoopbewijsje meer kan leveren, krijgt het volledige bedrag terugbetaald, meldt de Nederlandse Elle.
Volgens de officiële verklaring van de Zweedse modeketen gaat het onverdoofd plukken van de konijntjes in tegen het beleid: "H&M accepteert niet dat dieren slecht worden behandeld. Wij accepteren alleen producten gemaakt van angorakonijnenhaar van boerderijen met een goede veehouderij. Wij controleren de angoraboerderijen van onze leveranciers regelmatig. Het plukken van haar is niet aanvaardbaar en niet in overeenstemming met onze Product Policy".
WE - C&A Ook de Nederlandse modeketen WE wil eerst laten uitzoeken of zijn leveranciers, waarvan enkele in China, de angorakonijnen goed behandelen, zei een woordvoerster. WE bekijkt nog hoe het zal omgaan met klanten die kledingstukken met angorawol terugbrengen.
C&A laat weten te stoppen met het inkopen van kleding met angorawol totdat er meer duidelijkheid is over "deze beschuldigingen". Het concern zegt in een verklaring op dit moment niet op de hoogte te zijn "van eventuele schendingen van de rechten van dieren met betrekking tot angora in producten die zijn gemaakt in opdracht van ons bedrijf". Het winkelbedrijf zegt overigens maar een beperkt aantal producten met angora te verkopen.

Twee teams met tientallen dierenartsen in het veld
Naast de dringend noodzakelijke hulp aan menselijke slachtoffers van de tyfoon Hayian, verkeren ook vele tienduizenden dieren – zowel landbouw- als gezelschapsdieren – in ernstige nood. WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals), de internationale dierenwelzijnsorganisatie, heeft al geruime tijd twee noodhulpteams in het veld. Zij hebben al vele duizenden dieren gered en geholpen.
Het eerste team, snel vanuit Thailand gearriveerd, is werkzaam in het noordelijk deel van het zwaar getroffen eiland Cebu. Aangevuld door een kleine dertig vrijwillige lokale dierenartsen hebben zij al meer dan 10.000 dieren onderzocht en 2.000 stuks kleinvee een geneeskundige behandeling gegeven. Ook worden zo’n 4.000 runderen gevaccineerd tegen levensbedreigende bloedvergiftiging.
Het tweede team, ingevlogen vanuit Midden-Amerika, werkt op het eiland Panay in de omgeving van de stad Antique. Van de twintig dorpen daar zijn er zeker negen getroffen en hebben naar eerste schatting zo’n 7.000 dieren – waaronder karbouwen die als ploegdier worden ingezet – verzorging nodig. Ook worden er in het gebied door het noodhulpteam honderden kilo’s voer uitgedeeld. In de buurt bevindt zich een eiland dat volgens lokale dierenartsen nog door geen enkel hulpteam is bezocht. Ons team wil een boot huren om er naartoe te gaan.
Inmiddels hebben supporters van WSPA Nederland al meer dan 56.000 euro gedoneerd voor onze noodhulp aan de Filipijnen op bankrekening 242.
28 Roemeense pups met 3 moederhonden bevrijd uit gemeentelijk asiel Bistrita
De bevrijding van 28 pups met 3 moederhonden uit het gemeentelijk asiel van Bistrita - Roemenie is een feit. Nadat de nodige hobbels moesten worden overwonnen, heeft het Roemeense team van Maria Polman Foundation deze arme stakkers weten te bevrijden en gered van een gewisse dood in de vrieskou en andere ontberingen. Honden leven daar in kleine kooitjes van 1x2 m, soms wat groter, krijgen 4x/week te eten (vroeger 1x/week) en nagenoeg alle pups overleven de winter daar niet. Op dit moment verblijven de gered...de pupjes en 3 moeders in een prive-asiel, waar ze goed worden verzorgd, daarna zullen ze met verschillende transporten naar Nederland komen.

In 2012 werden bij het Federale Agentschap voor de Veiligheid van de Voedselketen (FAVV) en de Inspectiedienst Dierenwelzijn van de FOD Volksgezondheid circa 2.450 klachten ingediend over verwaarlozing en/of mishandeling van landbouwdieren. Veertig procent van de klachten over landbouwdieren en de helft over andere dieren bleken gegrond. Dat blijkt uit het antwoord van minister van Volksgezondheid Laurette Onkelinx op een schriftelijke vraag van senator Inge Faes (N-VA).
Circa 450 klachten - waarvan 180 gegrond - hadden betrekking op de verwaarlozing en/of mishandeling van landbouwdieren. Deze worden behandeld door het FAVV. De Inspectiedienst Dierenwelzijn onderzocht 2.000 klachten over andere dieren dan landbouwdieren. Hiervan bleken er een duizendtal gegrond. "Indien een klacht gegrond is, dan worden afhankelijk van de ernst van de vaststellingen een waarschuwing, proces-verbaal of inbeslagname opgelegd", aldus Onkelinx.

South Korea is the World’s 14th largest economy, yet an estimated 2.5 million dogs and thousands of cats are slaughtered and eaten as “health food” each year. Forced to endure deprivation and unimaginable torment from the moment they are born till the day they are slaughtered; dogs are imprisoned in cramped, rusty, raised cages all their lives with no protection from extreme weather and no water, exercise, or medical care. Their eardrums are often burst to prevent them from barking. In broad daylight, often in front of other live dogs, they are electrocuted, hanged, beaten or burnt to death. This is a profit-driven, tax free, unregulated industry that aggressively promotes the myth that eating a dog (especially the dog’s penis) enhances male virility and giving men energy. Koreans genuinely believe that the more dogs suffer, the more the consumer will enjoy the health benefits and enjoy the meat. Many dogs are sadistically made to experience extreme fear and suffering prior to death. Cats are frequently boiled alive to make tonics believed to treat rheumatism. The demand is so high in South Korea that 30% of the dog meat is now imported from China.
It is hard to believe that a nation such as South Korea, which is one of the major economic powers and boasts one of the highest education levels in the world, is still committing this type of barbaric and despicable brutality in this day and age. But for the millions of dogs and cats that are being slaughtered each year in South Korea’s markets, slaughterhouses, restaurants, dog farms and backyards, it is a tragic reality and a nightmare that they can’t escape from. If South Korea wants to join the civilized nations and be respected as a nation of conscience, they need to strengthen their animal protection law and ban the dog and cat consumption once and for all. This has been going on far too long and it’s time for their government to take a moral leadership for their citizens. Not only does this save the Korean animals from unimaginable suffering, but it will further their economic interest because people of the world will not stop condemning South Korea’s cruelty.
Mahatma Gandhi said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” I will boycott 2014 Asian Games and all sporting events hosted in South Korea and the South Korean businesses until the South Korean government takes the steps to ban the shameful dog and cat meat trade. Petition Tell Ralph Lauren to Stop Using Angora Rabbit Fur
Over 90% of the world gets its' angora fur from rabbits farmed in China, where there is no standards that regulate the treatment of animals, and no penalties for animal abuse on rabbit farms.
Recently, PETA investigated 9 angora fur farms, and released bone-chilling footage of workers violently ripping rabbit fur from the animals bodies as they scream in pain- (video below).
Rabbits endure this horrific, violent yanking of their fur every in which they scream in pain and to go into extreme shock. They are then thrown back inside their filthy, tiny wire cages with no solid flooring that hurt their delicate feet; they have no bedding, or the vital companionship of other rabbits where they lie motionless in shock.
This is repeated every 3 months, for 2 to 5 years, until are hung upside down and have their throats slit, and are skinned- all to fuel the growing angora industry.
Tell Ralph Lauren to stop supporting this animal abuse cruelty and naming it "fashion". His successful company can do quite well without torturing small animals.

Een puppy, achtergelaten op een vuilnisbelt in India, heeft naar verluidt als eerst hond ooit de Mount Everest beklommen tot aan het basiskamp op 5.364 meter hoogte.
Joanne Lefson, een voormalige professionele golfspeelster, adopteerde de 11-maanden oude puppy 'Rupee' in de Himalaya afgelopen september. Op 14 oktober begon het pasgevormde 'team' aan 'Missie Mount Everest' met als doel aandacht te vragen voor achtergelaten honden en de adoptie van de viervoeters aan te moedigen.
Dertien dagen later bereikte het duo de vooropgestelde recordhoogte. De hond paste zich razendsnel aan de barre omstandigheden aan en bleek verzot op sneeuw. "Ik ben zo trots op Rupee", vertelde de Zuid-Afrikaanse Joanne Lefson aan AFP. "Ik vermoedde dat ik hem af en toe zou moeten dragen maar het tegendeel was waar. Hij nam de leiding en trok me voort."
Wat een verschil met toen ze de puppy aantrof op een vuilnisbelt. Hij was op sterven na dood. "Ik kon hem niet aan zijn lot overlaten", aldus het baasje. Dankzij een liefdevolle verzorging kreeg ze hem weer op de been. "Ik hoop dat deze prestatie mensen zal aanzetten om meer genegenheid te tonen voor dieren", besluit ze. Dan is de missie wellicht pas echt geslaagd.
Het duo is ondertussen teruggekeerd naar Zuid-Afrika waar Rupee kan bekomen van zijn avonturen.

Ongewoon vonnis in Spanje. Een stierenvechter is wegens dierenmishandeling veroordeeld tot het betalen van een geldboete. Het geding van vandaag voor de rechtbank van Puerto Real in het zuiden van het land ging niet om het doden van vechtstieren in de arena, maar om de mishandeling van een paard.
Torero José Antonio Canales Rivera, telg van een van de belangrijkste Spaanse dynastieën stierenvechters, werd door een dierenrechtenorganisatie aangeklaagd omdat hij zijn paard "diepe en bloedende wonden" had toegebracht. Volgens de aanklacht zou hij in de mond van het paard een toestel hebben aangebracht, dat het dier een prik van een spijker toebracht, telkens het paard ook maar even afweek van de aanwijzingen van de ruiter.
De torero bekende en aanvaardde de boete van 600 euro. "Zover we weten, was het de eerste keer in ons land dat een torero wegens dierenmishandeling werd veroordeeld", verklaarde het Observatorium voor Rechtvaardigheid en Dierenbescherming, dat de klacht had ingediend.
Naast de dringend noodzakelijke hulp aan menselijke slachtoffers van de tyfoon Hayian, verkeren ook vele tienduizenden dieren – zowel landbouw- als gezelschapsdieren – in ernstige nood. WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals), de internationale dierenwelzijnsorganisatie, heeft al geruime tijd twee noodhulpteams in het veld. Zij hebben al vele duizenden dieren gered en geholpen.
