RIJSWIJK - De politie heeft een Rijswijks stel opgepakt dat wordt verdacht van betrokkenheid bij de dood van de Rijswijkse hond, die maandag vastgebonden aan een boom werd gevonden in het Wilhelminapark.
Batman werd maandag dood aangetroffen.

Wat de man van 24 en vrouw van 22 precies wordt verweten, wordt nog onderzocht. De hond pitbull/stafford luistert waarschijnlijk naar de naam Batman. De eigenaren van deze viervoeter beweerden eerder op hun Facebookpagina de hond anderhalve maand geleden te hebben verkocht, omdat hun huis te klein is en ze veel aan het werk zijn. Korte tijd later had het stel hun beider Facebookpagina’s verwijderd. Ze zouden inmiddels meerdere doodsbedreigingen hebben gehad.
Petitie
Hondenliefhebbers zijn woensdag een online petitie gestart omdat ze willen dat er een diepgaand onderzoek wordt ingesteld naar de dood van de pitbull/stafford. De initiatiefnemers van de petitie ’Doe Batman postuum eer aan’ kunnen op massale steun vanuit het hele land rekenen. Naast een onderzoek willen ze ook dat de politiek ervoor zorgt dat er hogere straffen komen op dierenmishandeling. De petitie is inmiddels door duizenden mensen getekend.
De Rijswijkse dierenarts Saskia Engmann vindt het ’verdrietig en misselijkmakend’ nieuws. „Waarom zo van je hond af willen komen?!” zegt ze verbaasd. „Het dier moet vreselijk geleden hebben, zowel psychisch als lichamelijk. Hij zal van uitdroging gestorven zijn. Waarom niemand hem heeft gehoord? Je kan alleen maar hopen dat het arme dier gedrogeerd was en niet bij machte om om hulp te blaffen. Dan zal hij ook minder bewust zijn geweest van de situatie.”
Het Wilhelminapark in Rijswijk staat erom bekend dat er vaak honden worden uitgelaten. Het is vooralsnog dan ook een raadsel het het kan dat niemand de vastgebonden viervoeter heeft gehoord of gezien. De hond die in staat van ontbinding was werd uiteindelijk gevonden door een stel dat een vieze lucht rook die op tientallen meters afstand te ruiken was.
