De Alexander von Humboldt II is een in 2011 Duits nieuw gebouwd tall ship ter vervanging van de oudere

Alexander von Humboldt. Het schip wordt gebruikt als opleidingsschip.

Sinds 2011 is dit opvallende schip eigendom van de Deutsche Stiftung Sail Training (DSST) een graag geziene

gast op alle evenementen. Met haar groene kleur is zij direct te herkennen, hoewel zij geen groene zeilen

meer heeft, maar witte zeilen. Dit in tegenstelling tot haar voorganger, de Alexander von Humboldt.

De Alex-2, zoals zij ook wel liefkozend wordt genoemd, wordt geheel gevaren door vrijwilligers. Van de

kapitein tot de kok wordt niemand betaald. Desondanks wordt het schip op zeer professionele wijze gevaren,

getuige ook het grote aantal aanvragen jaarlijks om mee te kunnen varen. De Alexander von Humboldt II is

een civiel sailtrainingsschip en staat daarom voor iedereen open.

Het schip heeft een totale lengte van 65 meter (LOA) met een diepgang van 4,7 meter. Haar thuishaven is

Bremerhaven. DSST is een non-profit organisatie.

After sailing the international waters for years, the Old Alexander von Humboldt has retired, in her place the

brand new Bark Alexander von Humboldt II! In 2011 a new Alexander von Humboldt II was build as a Sail

Training Vessel for the Sail Training Association Germany. The first tall ship built since 1958 in Germany,

waiting to be handed over to his element. Like the first Alexander von Humboldt the hull has the signature

color green.

The ship can accomodate 79 persons. They can sleep in 26 cabins: 2 - 3 and 4 persons-cabins. On board all

trainees will accommodate in four-bed cabins.

The Alexander von Humboldt II is a civilian sail training ship. She meets high safety standards and has

modern nautical and technical facilities. The permanent crew members are specially educated so that they

can guide the sailors (trainees) safely and competently. Everyone on board is part of the team and

participates actively in the on-board operations. You sail as a team, work as a team, sunbathe as a team and

lounge as a team. Sailing on the "Alex 2" is an active sailing trip of a special kind, full of adventures and fun.

On board the "Alex 2" the environment is being respected. Nothing is thrown overboard. The waste water is

treated on board; waste and pollutants are disposed of properly in the ports.
