Complex alien organic molecule found in interstellar space

September 26, 2014 - Scientists have found the beginnings of life-bearing chemistry at the centre of the galaxy.

Iso-propyl cyanide has been detected in a star-forming cloud 27,000 light-years from Earth.

Its branched carbon structure is closer to the complex organic molecules of life than any previous finding from interstellar space.

The discovery suggests the building blocks of life may be widespread throughout our galaxy.

Various organic molecules have previously been discovered in interstellar space, but i-propyl cyanide is the first with a branched carbon backbone.

The branched structure is important as it shows that interstellar space could be the origin of more complex branched molecules, such as amino acids, that are necessary for life on Earth.

Dr Arnaud Belloche from the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy is lead author of the research, which appears in the journal Science.

"Amino acids on Earth are the building blocks of proteins, and proteins are very important for life as we know it. The question in the background is: is there life somewhere else in the galaxy?"

The molecule was detected in a giant gas cloud called Sagittarius B2, an active region of ongoing star formation in the centre of the Milky Way.

As stars are born in the cloud they heat up microscopic dust grains. Chemical reactions on the surface of the dust allow complex molecules like i-propyl cyanide to form.

The molecules emit radiation that was detected as radio waves by twenty 12m telescopes at the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (Alma) in Chile.

Each molecule produces a different "spectral fingerprint" of frequencies. "The game consists in matching these frequencies… to molecules that have been characterised in the laboratory," explained Dr Belloche.

"Our goal is to search for new complex organic molecules in the interstellar medium."

Previously discovered molecules in the Sagittarius B2 cloud include vinyl alcohol and ethyl formate, the chemical that gives raspberries their flavour and rum its smell.

But i-propyl cyanide is the largest and most complex organic molecule found to date - and the only one to share the branched atomic backbone of amino acids.

"The idea is to know whether the elements that are necessary for life to occur… can be found in other places in our galaxy."

Prof Matt Griffin, head of the school of physics and astronomy at Cardiff University, commented on the discovery.

"It's clearly very high-quality data - a very emphatic detection with multiple spectral signatures all seen together."

Prof Griffin added that the quantity of i-propyl cyanide detected is significant.

"There seems to be quite a lot of it, which would indicate that this more complex organic structure is possibly very common, maybe even the norm, when it comes to simple organic molecules in space.

"It's a step closer to discovering molecules that can be regarded as the building blocks or the precursors… of amino acids."

The hope is that amino acids will eventually be detected outside our Solar System. "That's what everyone would like to see," said Prof Griffin.

If amino acids are widespread throughout the galaxy, life may be also.

"So far we do not have the sensitivity to detect the signals from [amino acids]… in the interstellar medium," explained Dr Belloche. "The interstellar chemistry seems to be able to form these amino acids but at the moment we lack the evidence.

"Alma in the future may be able to do that, once the full capabilities are available."

Prof Griffin agreed this could be the first of many further discoveries from the "fantastically sensitive and powerful" Alma facility.

Rethinking the origins of the universe

September 26, 2014 - Black holes have long captured the public imagination and been the subject of popular culture, from Star Trek to Hollywood. They are the ultimate unknown – the blackest and most dense objects in the universe that do not even let light escape.

And as if they weren’t bizarre enough to begin with, now add this to the mix: they don’t exist.

“I’m still not over the shock,” said Mersini-Houghton. “We’ve been studying this problem for a more than 50 years and this solution gives us a lot to think about.”

For decades, black holes were thought to form when a massive star collapses under its own gravity to a single point in space – imagine the Earth being squished into a ball the size of a peanut – called a singularity. So the story went, an invisible membrane known as the event horizon surrounds the singularity and crossing this horizon means that you could never cross back. It’s the point where a black hole’s gravitational pull is so strong that nothing can escape it.
The reason black holes are so bizarre is that it pits two fundamental theories of the universe against each other. Einstein’s theory of gravity predicts the formation of black holes but a fundamental law of quantum theory states that no information from the universe can ever disappear. Efforts to combine these two theories lead to mathematical nonsense, and became known as the information loss paradox.

In 1974, Stephen Hawking used quantum mechanics to show that black holes emit radiation. Since then, scientists have detected fingerprints in the cosmos that are consistent with this radiation, identifying an ever-increasing list of the universe’s black holes.

But now Mersini-Houghton describes an entirely new scenario.

This UFO was caught near the space station this week and was close to the solar panels. The objects golden color stands out nicely to give us a bit of detail. This UFO sat for several minutes and then NASA noticed it and went to blue screen. As always we the public got cut off so we do not know if the UFO docked or how the UFO moved away. Er zijn indicaties dat het misschien niet zolang meer zal duren voordat NASA eindelijk buitenaards leven bekend zal maken.

Afgelopen week werd er door NASA een symposium georganiseerd met de veelzeggende titel: Preparing for Discovery.

In 2009 was het Vaticaan gastheer van een conferentie waar wetenschappers, astronomen en religieuze leiders samen kwamen om de gevolgen te bespreken voor de mensheid wanneer er buitenaards leven zou worden ontdekt.

Eén van de conclusies op die conferentie was dat dat ook buitenaardsen zouden worden beschouwd als onderdeel van God's schepping en dat ze daarom onze “buitenaardse broeders” zullen zijn.

Nu lijkt het erop dat ook NASA voorzicht bewegingen maakt in de richting van bekendmaking van buitenaards leven.

Zo werd er door hen afgelopen week een symposium georganiseerd met de veelzeggende titel: Preparing for Discovery.

De reden dat NASA dit symposium hield met eveneens wetenschappers, theologen en astronomen was om te praten over en de wereld voor te bereiden op iets wat simpelweg niet langer verborgen kan worden gehouden en dat is het bestaan van buitenaards leven.

Waar voorheen bij NASA altijd sprake was van het ontdekken van leven op het niveau van microben, zo wordt er nu duidelijk gesproken over intelligent buitenaards leven.

Omdat niets bij toeval gebeurt en bij dit symposium ook theologen werden betrokken, toont dat aan dat het niet lang meer zal duren voordat NASA buitenaards leven officiëel bekend zal maken.

De kudde moet worden voorbereid op iets wat er allang is, maar officiëel nog niet bestaat. Zeker voor de aanhangers van allerlei verschillende geloven zal dit nog wel eens een grote schok kunnen betekenen in de nabije toekomst.

Met instituten als het Vaticaan en NASA moet je uiterst voorzichtig zijn want beiden hebben duidelijke satanische verbindingen.

Van het Vaticaan zal misschien niemand dat verbazen, ook niet omdat wij hierover reeds eerder hebben geschreven.

Voor NASA is dat verband misschien wat minder voor de hand liggend, maar het is er wel degelijk.

Sinds de oprichting van NASA in 1958 is er alles aan gedaan om de occulte oorsprong van dit instituut voor het publiek verborgen te houden. De oorsprong die direct leidt naar wat men wel het “slechtste mens ooit” op aarde noemt, Alistair Crowley.

De hoogste rangen binnen NASA werden gedomineerd door leden van de geheime genootschappen zoals de Vrijmetselaars en voormalige Nazi’s, waarvan de meest bekende Wernher von Braun is. 

Dus, wanneer je praat over het Vaticaan en NASA in verband met buitenaards leven, dan kan je ervan uitgaan dat ze geen onthullingen zullen doen in het belang van de mensheid.

Wanneer deze beide instituten buitenaards leven bekend zullen maken is de kans levensgroot dat dan het moment gekomen is van de allang voorspelde nep buitenaardse invasie.

Ufo ontmoet hete luchtballon...(update - video)

Op een prachtige zonnige dag koerst een heteluchtballon statig door het luchtruim.

Een UFO die zich snel door de lucht verplaatst ziet ineens de ballon, remt….

Update: 25 september 2014 

We ontvingen een bericht van een lezer (dank!) die zegt dat de onderstaande video waarin een witte orb/UFO een heteluchtballon benadert, nep zou zijn. 

Hij zegt het volgende: 

“Mooi ufo filmpje maar fake. 

Door de andere filmpjes te bekijken van de uploader kan men dat ontdekken. 

Het rare is dat de objecten op de filmpjes in het echt kunnen worden gezien op bijna vergelijkbare wijze. 

Poging om getuigenissen van mensen en opname apparatuur te besmeuren?”

En inderdaad, als je naar wat andere video’s kijkt die deze Youtube uploader gemaakt heeft dan moet je je inderdaad afvragen of de onderstaande video wel echt is. 

Het soort witte orbs/UFO’s zoals die in de video is te zien, wordt wereldwijd veel waargenomen. In dat kader is het niet zo vreemd als er één zou verschijnen in de buurt van een hete luchtballon. 

Waar dit soort UFO’s ook regelmatig worden waargenomen is in de buurt bij chemtrails. Een voorbeeld daarvan is de volgende opname die een vloot van zeven van dergelijke orbs laat zien in de buurt van enkele spray sporen in de lucht. 

De opname is gemaakt enkele weken geleden voor de kust van Normandië. De maker van de video zegt het volgende: 

“Ik was aan boord van een jacht samen met een vriend. We waren aan het zeilen en genoten van de prachtig blauwe lucht boven Normandië. Ik keek naar een geweldig grote chemtrail die in de lucht hing terwijl ik lag te zonnebaden. Mijn aandacht werd even afgeleid en korte tijd keek ik even niet naar de lucht. 

Toen ik weer keek zag ik een aantal vreemde kleine witte stippen vlak bij de grote chemtrail. Ik pakte mijn iPhone en nam op wat ik kon. Ik telde zeven witte objecten die zich langzaam door de lucht bewogen en ze leken als het ware af te dalen de chemtrail in. Het leek alsof de vloot onder leiding stond van een groter moederschip, de grootste orb/UFO”.

De hiernavolgende opname is een prachtig bewijs dat de kleine witte orbs/UFO’s die door ons luchtruim vliegen intelligent bestuurde objecten zijn.

Zoals je ziet op de volgende foto vliegt er een heteluchtballon en komt er van rechts een UFO in beeld.

In de volgende video zie je wat er vervolgens gebeurt.

De UFO die zich snel van rechts naar links door het beeld begeeft, ziet op een gegeven moment de UFO, remt af en blijft vervolgens even stilhangen.

Daarna daalt het langzaam en voorzichtig af richting luchtballon. Alsof het nog nooit zoiets heeft gezien en er als het ware even aan wil snuffelen.

Klaarblijkelijk vindt de UFO na inspectie een heteluchtballon toch niet de moeite waard en vervolgt zijn weg.

De opname is op 20 september gemaakt, maar er is verder niets bekend over de locatie of de omstandigheden.

TWEE MYSTERIES WAAROP NU UITEINDELIJK EEN ANTWOORD MOET KOMEN...

Wat ons betreft zijn er twee mysteries waarvoor nu toch eindelijk eens een uitleg moet worden gevonden.

De man die deze antwoorden voor ons kan vinden is Minister Timmerfrans. Wij zullen hem daarbij een klein beetje helpen.

Het eerste mysterie is dat van de oranje bollen.

Het afgelopen jaar hebben we talloze artikelen geschreven over dit vreemde fenomeen dat zich wereldwijd voordoet, maar zeker ook in onze streken.

Het fenomeen van zich door de lucht bewegende, geluidloze oranje bollen. Soms alleen en soms in aanzienlijke formaties.

Ze worden waargenomen, mensen verbazen zich erover en soms wordt iemand die niets van UFO’s moet hebben, spontaan iemand die wel degelijk in ufo’s gelooft. Veel verder dan dat komen we eigenlijk niet.

Hoewel ze wereldwijd intussen door duizenden mensen zijn waargenomen, worden er geen vragen in de Tweede Kamer gesteld. Hoeveel wij keer op keer artikelen publiceren over oranje bollen wordt er geen enkel onderzoek opgestart.

Je zou toch zeggen dat wanneer zoiets indringends plaatsvindt boven welk land dan ook, een overheid wil weten wat daar rond vliegt?

Klaarblijkelijk niet.

Dus tijd voor drastische actie:

Bij deze verklaren wij de oranje bollen tot verkenningsbollen van Vladimir Poetin.

Misschien dat er nu in het kader van de nationale veiligheid eindelijk door Timmerfrans en kornuiten een degelijk onderzoek naar deze bollen kan worden gestart.

Ook afgelopen weekend was het weer raak. Wij ontvingen de volgende e-mail met prachtige foto (dank!):

Weekend geleden naar Frankrijk geweest regio Reims!  Zondagmorgen om 7u +- stond ik naar buiten te staren met mijn fototoestel! 

Toen zag ik 3 lichtbollen, vlug een foto getrokken, enkele seconden later was het al weg!  

Tezamen met mijn vriendin hebben we nog zitten staren, helaas niets meer te bespeuren!!

Het tweede mysterie waarover nu eindelijk eens openheid van zaken gegeven dient te worden is het absurde aantal UFO’s dat af en aan vliegt bij het ISS ruimtestation.

Het is een bijna dagelijkse gebeurtenis waarover wij ook al talloze artikelen hebben geschreven.

Ook daar was het enkele dagen geleden weer raak. 

Ze komen in alle soorten, maten en kleuren voor bij het ISS. Van gouden, sigaarvormige tot ronde gloeiende UFO’s zoals hierboven.

We weten dat Timmerfrans graag het woord voert bij de Verenigde Naties. Het liefst zo dramatisch mogelijk en een van een leugen meer of minder ligt deze man niet wakker.

Misschien dat hij daar nu eindelijk wat goeds kan doen door dit onderwerp daar aan te roeren en een antwoord te eisen voor de wereldbevolking.

Politici moeten eens gaan doen waarvoor ze aangesteld zijn en dat is het volk vertegenwoordigen.

En het volk wil weten wat er allemaal boven hun hoofden vliegt.

Verkenner Philae landt op 12 november op komeet 67P - HLN.be

Europa probeert op 12 november een verkenner op het oppervlak van een komeet te zetten. Dat heeft de Europese ruimtevaartorganisatie ESA aangekondigd. Nog nooit is een verkenner geland op een komeet.

De sonde Rosetta met de verkenner Philae vliegt nu nog rond de komeet 67P/Tsjoerjoemov-Gerasimenko. Die ziet eruit als een badeendje. De plek van de landing was vorige week al bekendgemaakt. De verkenner moet naar de 'kop' van de komeet gaan. Daar is het redelijk vlak. Ook valt er genoeg zonlicht om de accu op te laden.

Als de landing daar toch niet door kan gaan, heeft de ESA een alternatief achter de hand. Dat is een plek op het 'lichaam' van de badeend. Ook daar zou de Philae op 12 november moeten landen.

Ontstaan zonnestelsel
Het is de bedoeling dat de Rosetta op 12 november om 9.35 uur Belgische tijd de Philae loslaat. Dan zakt de verkenner langzaam naar het oppervlak. Na ongeveer 7 uur vliegen is de landing. Bijna een half uur later, iets na 17.00 uur, moet het signaal op aarde aankomen dat alles is geslaagd. Bij de alternatieve plek zou dat een paar uur later gebeuren.

De verkenner Philae moet het komende jaar onder meer gaan boren in het oppervlak van 67P, om vast te stellen waaruit de komeet bestaat. Dat kan wetenschappers een beter beeld geven van het ontstaan van ons zonnestelsel en daarmee van de aarde. De komeet 67P is namelijk ontstaan uit dezelfde wolk van gas en stof waaruit ook de aarde en de andere planeten zijn samengeklonterd. De aarde is in de miljarden jaren erna flink veranderd, de komeet niet of nauwelijks.

6,5 miljard kilometer; 1,3 miljard euro
De Rosetta werd in maart 2004 gelanceerd en heeft inmiddels ongeveer 6,5 miljard kilometer op de teller staan. De route voerde drie keer langs de aarde en één keer langs Mars. De Rosetta had de zwaartekracht van de twee planeten nodig om genoeg snelheid te maken voor de oversteek naar de komeet.

De missie is een prestigeproject van Europa en kost ruim 1,3 miljard euro. De Nederlander Fred Jansen leidt het project.

8.8 billion habitable Earth-size planets exist in Milky Way alone

Astronomers using NASA data calculate that in our galaxy alone there are at least 8.8 billion Earth-sized planets that are not too hot or not too cold and circle stars that are just like our sun, according to a study published Monday.

WASHINGTON — Space is vast, but it may not be so lonely after all: A study finds the Milky Way is teeming with billions of planets that are about the size of Earth, orbit stars just like our sun, and exist in the Goldilocks zone — not too hot and not too cold for life.       

Astronomers using NASA data have calculated for the first time that in our galaxy alone, there are at least 8.8 billion stars with Earth-size planets in the habitable temperature zone.         

The study was published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.         

For perspective, that's more Earth-like planets than there are people on Earth.         

As for what it says about the odds that there is life somewhere out there, it means "just in our Milky Way galaxy alone, that's 8.8 billion throws of the biological dice," said study co-author Geoff Marcy, a longtime planet hunter from the University of California at Berkeley.         

The next step, scientists say, is to look for atmospheres on these planets with powerful space telescopes that have yet to be launched. That would yield further clues to whether any of these planets do, in fact, harbor life.         

The findings also raise a blaring question, Marcy said: If we aren't alone, why is "there a deafening silence in our Milky Way galaxy from advanced civilizations?"         

In the Milky Way, about 1 in 5 stars that are like our sun in size, color and age have planets that are roughly Earth's size and are in the habitable zone where life-crucial water can be liquid, according to intricate calculations based on four years of observations from NASA's now-crippled Kepler telescope.         

If people on Earth could only travel in deep space, "you'd probably see a lot of traffic jams," Bill Borucki, NASA's chief Kepler scientist, joked Monday.         

The Kepler telescope peered at 42,000 stars, examining just a tiny slice of our galaxy to see how many planets like Earth are out there. Scientists then extrapolated that figure to the rest of the galaxy, which has hundreds of billions of stars.         

For the first time, scientists calculated — not estimated — what percent of stars that are just like our sun have planets similar to Earth: 22 percent, with a margin of error of plus or minus 8 percentage points.         

Kepler scientist Natalie Batalha said there is still more data to pore over before this can be considered a final figure.         

There are about 200 billion stars in our galaxy, with 40 billion of them like our sun, Marcy said. One of his co-authors put the number of sun-like stars closer to 50 billion, meaning there would be at least 11 billion planets like ours.         

Based on the 1-in-5 estimate, the closest Earth-size planet that is in the habitable temperature zone and circles a sun-like star is probably within 70 trillion miles of Earth, Marcy said.         

And the 8.8 billion Earth-size planets figure is only a start. That's because scientists were looking only at sun-like stars, which are not the most common stars.         

An earlier study found that 15 percent of the more common red dwarf stars have Earth-size planets that are close-in enough to be in the not-too-hot, not-too-cold Goldilocks Zone.         

Put those together and that's probably 40 billion right-size, right-place planets, Marcy said.         

And that's just our galaxy. There are billions of other galaxies.         

Scientists at a Kepler science conference Monday said they have found 833 new candidate planets with the space telescope, bringing the total of planets they've spotted to 3,538, but most aren't candidates for life.         

Kepler has identified only 10 planets that are about Earth's size circling sun-like stars and are in the habitable zone, including one called Kepler 69-c.         

Because there are probably hundreds of planets missed for every one found, the study did intricate extrapolations to come up with the 22 percent figure — a calculation that outside scientists say is fair.         

"Everything they've done looks legitimate," said MIT astronomer Sara Seager.

A young man, Ronnie Austin and his girlfriend, Phyllis Bruce (both 18) had driven to Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to attend a drive-in movie, “The Great Escape”. At around 11:30 PM they departed on Route 15 heading east for home, which was Wayne City. Phyllis had gotten angry with him, and as they drove along past the airport, Ronnie leaned over to speak to her.  As he did this, he glanced out of the window to the south and saw a big white object moving along at treetop level, about 20-degrees above the horizon to the southwest. He described it as fuzzy and about the size of a washtub. Both witnesses watched, casually talking about the light for several minutes. 

Then they discovered that the light seemed to be keeping pace with them. Ronnie reported that when he speeded the car up, the object seemed to speed up. Also, when he decelerated, the object seemed to slow down, too. This continued, as indicated by the map included in this report. At first the light was on the south side of the car; then it crossed over in front to the north side. The transition took place when they were about 6 miles west of the Orchardville Road intersection.  The object had been on their right (south) and keeping up with them, when all at once the object headed for the car. It appeared to get within a few hundred feet and then it suddenly gained altitude and stopped for several seconds over an electronic relay tower. Then the light shot across the road to the north side to the left of the car. It maintained this position for a while about 500 feet distant.  They then turned north on the gravel road leading to Phyllis’ home, which was approximately 1.5 miles away. The object was now on their right. Upon arrival, Phyllis’ sister Forestine came outside to observe the thing, which was now in the southeast. The object appeared to move closer, so went inside, turned out the lights and watched through a window. After 15 minutes had passed, Ronnie decided he had better go home.  He made a run for the car.

As soon as he pulled away from the Bruce home, the object began to follow. In our interview with the boy’s father (Orville) on August 12, he told us that this is what scared Ronnie, the thought that the UFO was waiting for him to be alone before it took off after him. He had to head south and the object was on his left now.   When he turned east onto another gravel road, the object suddenly shot diagonally ahead of him over a barn about a mile away, just beyond the T-road. The object now changed from a brilliant white to a duller or dimmer light with an orange tinge.  Ronnie said he “really poured the coal” to the car and must have been doing 120 mph when he topped the hill on the gravel road. Then, he reported, the object flared bright orange and came straight toward him at high speed. It hovered over the car, within 100′. Just before it hovered it had swerved upward and Ronnie judged its size as that of an automobile.  At the point right over the car his radio (tuned to WLS) went crazy with static, which was described as a loud whining sound..

At that time he noticed a “cooling effect”. The object made another pass at the car, this time west to east, and at this point where the object was again overhead, the engine of the car started missing.  The object proceeded back to its position over the barn, hovered, changed to a duller orange. This small road running east to west is only about a mile long and the events that took place according to the witness indicates an increase in activity by the object, which really had the boy scared by now.  Ronnie now turned north at the intersection (extension of road not shown) and headed for home which was over 3 miles away. The object followed him again. As he headed west down the lane leading to his home, the object cut across the road behind him to the left. He spun his car around in the driveway in front of the house, got out of the car and ran inside.  The object was now above another farmhouse in the east about 300 yards away.  When Ronnie woke his parents, they thought he had gone crazy. He told them that “it” had chased him home. He could hardly talk; every third or fourth word would trail off. Mr. Austin thought that somebody had chased the boy and was trying to hurt him, so he grabbed the shotgun as he went out the door.  Ronnie told him that it wouldn’t do any good. Orville Austin told us that when he saw the object hovering over the field, he understood what the boy was trying to say. He put the gun down. The object started to move closer again so they went into the kitchen and turned out the lights, watching through the windows. Mr. Austin felt that the object was attracted by the lights.  Then Ronnie told him to call the police. Orville tried but the phone was dead. Later, the phone was operating and he called Fairfield Police. He said that they thought he was joking. He wanted them to contact Scott Air Force Base which was 80 miles to the northwest. It was about l2:25 A.M. now. 

At this time Ronnie’s parents saw that he needed medical aid. They called Dr. Konarski of Fairfield and he told them what to give him. When the police arrived, they saw the “object”, too. Several friends and neighbors watched this “object” and at one time Ronnie got scared and ran back into the house. Several buddies of Ronnie’s watched an object until 4:00 in the morning.  Investigated by Indiana Unit No. 1, NICAP.

UFO mania: More anomalies spotted in Mars photographs

Two more unusually shaped rock formations have been discovered on the surface of the Red Planet.

Thanks to the plethora of high quality images returned by NASA's rovers, Mars has become a prime example of how the brain can be tricked in to interpreting an otherwise abstract pattern as something of significance - a phenomenon known as pareidolia.

The first of the two most recent finds is a rock formation that looks a bit like a set of traffic lights. It consists of a tall stone with several small stones spaced vertically up the side of it. 

"I saw this one and I thought 'hang on, that looks a bit strange,'" said space video journalist Joe Smith who first came across the object. "I posted it on the internet and people said they thought it looked like a set of traffic lights too - although some people did say it looked like a totem pole."

The second object, a perfectly spherical rock, was found a few days earlier by NASA themselves. Scientists explained that the ball was likely to have been formed by repeated compacting and hardening - a process known as concretion.

In 1975 astronomers Dr Kip Thorne and Dr Anna Żytkow predicted the existence of a star within a star, dubbed a Thorne-Żytkow object.

They suggested one would form when a neutron star collided with a supergiant, being swallowed inside its huge companion.

And now almost 40 years later the evidence for such an object has been found, providing astronomers with a fascinating and bizarre new space object to study.

Astronomers have found a strange double star using a telescope in Chile. The so-called Thorne-Żytkow object consists of a neutron star that was swallowed by a much larger red supergiant. This can occur if two stars are orbiting each other, as shown in this illustration, and one is pushed into the other

Thorne-Żytkow objects (TŻOs) are hybrids of red supergiant and neutron stars that, from the outside, resemble regular red supergiants such as Betelgeuse in Orion.

Their chemical signatures are different from such stars, however, due to the unique activity taking place inside.

And amazingly, while regular stars are powered by nuclear fusion in their cores, TŻOs are actually powered by the absorbed neutron star.

The discovery of one of these incredible objects was announced earlier this year, reports Amy Teitel for Motherboard.

The astronomers made their discovery with the 6.5-metre (21.3 feet) Magellan Clay telescope on Las Campanas in Chile.

They examined the spectrum of light emitted from apparent red supergiants, which tells them what elements are present.

When the spectrum of one particular star - HV 2112 in the Small Magellanic Cloud 200,000 light-years away - was first displayed, the observers were quite surprised by some of the unusual features. 

Such objects were first predicted to exist in 1975 by astronomers Dr Kip Thorne and Dr Anna Żytkow. They are thought to occur when a neutron star (shown in illustration) collides with a red supergiant and is absorbed. The exact process by which this happens though is not well understood

Project leader Dr Emily Levesque of the University of Colorado Boulder and her colleagues took a close look at the subtle lines in the spectrum and found that it contained excess rubidium, lithium and molybdenum.

Past research has shown that normal stellar processes can create each of these elements, but high abundances of all three of these at the temperatures typical of red supergiants is a unique signature of TŻOs.

‘Studying these objects is exciting because it represents a completely new model of how stellar interiors can work,’ said Dr Levesque.

‘In these interiors we also have a new way of producing heavy elements in our universe.

‘You've heard that everything is made of “star stuff” - inside these stars we might now have a new way to make some of it.’

And Dr Żytkow, who has now seen her prediction be validated, said: ‘I am extremely happy that observational confirmation of our theoretical prediction has started to emerge.’

‘Since Kip Thorne and I proposed our models of stars with neutron cores, people were not able to disprove our work.

‘If theory is sound, experimental confirmation shows up sooner or later.

‘So it was a matter of identification of a promising group of stars, getting telescope time and proceeding with the project.’

The astronomers made their discovery with the 6.5-meter Magellan Clay telescope on Las Campanas, in Chile (pictured). The team is careful to point out that HV 2112 displays some chemical characteristics that don't quite match theoretical models.

Co-author of the study Dr Philip Massey of Lowell Observatory in Flagstarr, Arizona points out: ‘We could, of course, be wrong.

‘There are some minor inconsistencies between some of the details of what we found and what theory predicts.

‘But the theoretical predictions are quite old, and there have been a lot of improvements in the theory since then.

‘Hopefully our discovery will spur additional work on the theoretical side now.’

(N.Morgan) Of all of the sightings we’ve seen lately, this one is by far one of the most odd and dazzling. Above the skies of Houston Texas, people were treated to the sight of a strange UFO presence. Again, one has to ponder what is going on with all of these sightings and the boldness being displayed, during the sightings.

A brief history of UFOs: An unidentified flying object, or UFO, in its most general definition, is any apparent anomaly in the sky that is not identifiable as a known object or phenomenon. Such anomalies may later be identified, but depending on the evidence or lack of evidence, such an identification may not be possible generally leaving the anomaly unexplained. While stories of unexplained apparitions have been told since antiquity, the term “UFO” (or “UFOB”) was officially created in 1953 by the United States Air Force (USAF) to serve as a catch-all for all such reports. It was stated that a “UFOB” was “any airborne object which by performance, aerodynamic characteristics, or unusual features, does not conform to any presently known aircraft or missile type, or which cannot be positively identified as a familiar object.”

As originally defined, the term was restricted to those fraction of cases which remained unidentified after investigation, with USAF interest being for potential national security reasons and/or “technical aspects.” (See Air Force Regulation 200-2.) During the late 1940s and through the 1950s, UFOs were often referred to popularly as “flying saucers” or “flying discs”. The term UFO became more widespread during the 1950s, at first in technical literature, but later in popular use. UFOs garnered considerable interest during the Cold War, an era associated with a heightened concern for national security.

Various studies have concluded that the phenomenon does not represent a threat to national security nor does it contain anything worthy of scientific pursuit (e.g., 1953 CIA Robertson Panel, USAF Project Blue Book, Condon Committee). Culturally, the phenomenon has often been associated with extraterrestrial life or government-related conspiracy theories, and has become a popular theme in fiction.

Arizona witness recalls saucer UFO low over drive-in movie

An Arizona witness at Yuma recalls events from 38 years ago when a UFO moved close to family members at a drive-in movie theater, according to testimony in Case 60102 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting center.

The witness was at the drive-in with her mother, stepbrother and young daughter when dim lights were seen in the sky in September 1976.

“I simply assumed the dim lit lights were that of the windows of a passenger airplane,” the witness stated. “At this point I couldn’t see its shape – just the lights.”

But the object wasn’t moving.

“After about 20 to 30 minutes of glancing at what I assumed were window lights, I realized this ‘plane’ was not moving nor was it making any sound and realized it was not a plane. I stood up in the bed of the truck and told those with me to look. I began pointing at it because they couldn’t see it. Its windows were too dim.”

Then the object moved closer.

“It was a very dark object, but the closer it moved the better I could see its shape. It looked as if it had a wide, huge bell on top of it. When I saw it almost over our truck, my mother and stepbrother still couldn’t see it. A lady in a car next to us began trying to see it. It moved upward, tilted and that is when I saw the brighter lights on the bottom of this object. I was almost screaming for them to see it!”

As the object moved away, it appeared to be a saucer shape.

“At that moment it began moving, wobbling, and began going upward with its shape changing into a typical saucer shape. My stepbrother saw it at this point and said, ‘I see it! Look!’ At that time it began flopping from one side to the other several times. With each flop it got smaller like it was moving away. We were both tying to get my mother to see it, and she did at the point just before it went away. It was gone in a breath but left twinkly sparkles behind it. It looked as if it had gone through a door and closed it.”

Yuma is a city in and the county seat of Yuma County, Arizona, population 77,515. Arizona MUFON is investigating. Arizona has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. Arizona had 10 UFO reports in August 2014 – the 19th highest reporting state – while California had 99 reports as the highest reporting state. The above quotes were edited for clarity. West Virginia witness says low flying UFO cloaked itself

West Virginia witnesses at Elkins reported watching and following a low flying , triangle-shaped UFO that eventually appeared to cloak itself and disappear about 8:40 p.m. on September 25, 2014, according to testimony in Case 60101 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The reporting witness and his wife were driving south out of Elkins on Beverly Pike when two bright orange lights were observed low in the sky.

“The light on the right was higher than the one on the left, suggesting the object had just changed direction or was banking from a western direction of travel to a northern direction of travel,” the witness stated.

The couple moved closer to the object.

“We watched the lights get closer and appear level as the object was traveling due north in the opposite direction of travel from us. We noticed a third, dim white light in the front of the object, thus forming a triangle of lights with the two orange orbs to the rear/side.”

The witness described the object.

“As we got closer I noticed the orange lights were hourglass-shaped. Last night was very clear and devoid of any cloud cover. This made it possible to discern the shape of the object was indeed a triangle, flat black in color, reflecting no light.”

The witness believes there may be many more witnesses out there.

“This is a heavily populated area with many brightly lit businesses. The object traveled directly over a huge shopping center with Wal-Mart and several neighborhoods. We pulled over at a Ford dealership to observe and watched as the object slowly passed by – much too slow for even a small Cessna and at a low altitude.”

The object was low enough in the sky for a good look.

“The altitude was roughly slightly lower than that of which an airplane would be if it was about to land. I’d estimate speed at around 30-40 knots. The scale of this thing was huge! It’s ‘wing’ span I would estimate around 100 yards. I am very familiar with general aviation and military aircraft and this was neither. I saw no discernible control surfaces, canopy, windows, or any other feature – just flat black with two orange lights and one white, dim light.”

The object did not appear to move away, but just disappeared.

“As the object passed by us, it disappeared as if using a cloaking device. All we could see was stars. Again, this is a very heavily populated and bustling area. Anyone traveling south on the Beverly Pike between 8:35 and 8:40 would have seen it, as it was flying parallel with the five-lane on the Wal-Mart side of the highway.”

Nicolas Cage has done some spooky things for his movie roles, including taking on the role of Johnny Blaze in the Ghost Rider films. The most unusual, even for Cage, was when he stayed not only in a haunted house in Louisiana, but also Dracula’s Castle.

The nephew of the renowned director Francis Ford Coppola, Nicolas had decided to change his last name to make it on his own merits. Taking on the last name of not-so-well-known Marvel Comics character Luke Cage (one of his favorites), he certainly distanced himself from his already famous relative. The way he became famous was apparently by taking odd roles and putting his own brand of strangeness into them.

To prepare for one of his least successful films, Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance, Cage had spent a night in Dracula’s Castle in Romania to “channel the energy,” said costar Idris Elba. Elba had seen him come on the set and noticed he had that “up all night” look about him.

That was when Nicolas Cage confessed he’d spent the night in the fabled ruins, and Elba could only ask why he did that.

Idris Elba explained Cage’s actions as well as he could.

“We were shooting in Romania, Transylvania, and he just went up there to spend the night, as you do. And then he walked away. True story.”

Cage also owned a haunted house in Louisiana from 2007 to 2009. He had been writing a horror novel and wanted some inspiration, so it only made sense to him that said inspiration should come from the home of a notorious serial killer.

The home had once belonged to Madame Lalaurie, a nineteenth century socialite known for torturing and murdering her slaves. Apparently a history of violence and suffering was all the house had to offer, because Nicolas Cage admitted he didn’t get very far with the novel despite it having been called the “most haunted house in America.”

Cage’s attraction to all things spooky seems to have no end, since he once starred as a man who thought he had become a vampire after getting involved with an allegedly undead lover.

The Left Behind actor may have gotten his start in spooky dealings when someone had allegedly told him his son Weston would be dead by the age of 15. That person was wrong, but the message may have played with Cage’s mind a bit much and created a curiosity about the things that go bump in the night.

Chinese restaurant sold ‘opium-laced noodles’ so addicted patrons would come back for more

A noodle shop owner in northern Shaanxi province was detained after he was discovered to have been adding parts of a poppy plant, from which opium is made, to food so that customers would keep coming back. The noodle shop’s owner was held for questioning and confessed that he purchased 2kg of poppy shells (the bud of the plant in which poppy seeds are found) for 600 yuan(£60, $100) in August.

He secretly added it to the food to lure in more customers. The owner was detained for 10 days. Poppy shells used to be an ingredient in a popular hot pot sauce until the product was banned. The restaurant’s activities came to light after one customer, Liu Juyou, 26, tested positive during a routine urine test under an anti-drink-driving programme. He said he never touched illegal substances, so was shocked by the test result.

Liu was detained for 15 days from September 3, unable to convince police that the drug, he suspected, might have come from the food from a noodle shop he frequented. Liu asked his family to help him test the theory, eating noodles at the restaurant and going home to take urine tests. When the relatives also tested positive for drugs, they alerted the police, who launched an investigation.

An anti-narcotics police agent said that chemicals from poppy, even poppy seed pods, could build up in the body – enough to get a positive for opiates on a drug test. If the food is ingested over a long period of time, it would have an addictive effect, he said. However, despite finding the restaurant culpable, Liu’s appeal against his detention was dismissed by police, who said their priority was to detect drugs and punish drug users. The mainland’s anti-drug law bans opium, heroin, morphine, marijuana and any other anaesthetic and psychotropic drugs which can be addictive. – SCMP

The space agency and the Library of Congress (image below left) brought together scientists, historians, philosophers and theologians from around the world for a two-day symposium, “Preparing For Discovery.” Their agenda: To explore how we prepare for the inevitable discovery of extraterrestrial life, be it simple microbial organisms or intelligent beings.

“We’re looking at all scenarios about finding life. If you find microbes, that’s one thing. If you find intelligence, it’s another. And if they communicate, it’s something else, and depending on what they say, it’s something else!” said astronomer, symposium organizer and former chief NASA historian, Steven J. Dick.

“The idea is not to wait until we make a discovery, but to try and prepare the public for what the implications might be when such a discovery is made,” Dick told The Huffington Post. “I think the reason that NASA is backing this is because of all the recent activity in the discovery of exoplanets and the advances in astrobiology in general.

“People just consider it much more likely now that we’re going to find something — probably microbes first and maybe intelligence later,” he added. “The driving force behind this is from a scientific point of view that it seems much more likely now that we are going to find life at some point in the future.”

Among the many speakers at last week’s astrobiology symposium, one has raised a few international eyebrows in recent years.

“I believe [alien life exists], but I have no evidence. I would be really excited and it would make my understanding of my religion deeper and richer in ways that I can’t even predict yet, which is why it would be so exciting,” Brother Guy Consolmagno, a Jesuit brother, astronomer and Vatican planetary scientist told HuffPost senior science editor David Freeman.

Consolmagno has publicly stated his belief that “any entity — no matter how many tentacles it has — has a soul,” and he’s suggested that he would be happy to baptize any ETs, as long as they requested it.

“There has to be freedom to do science. Being a good scientist means admitting we never have the whole truth — there’s always more to learn.” Consolmagno also doesn’t think the public would panic when or if it’s revealed that alien life has been found.

“I really think it would be a three-day wonder and then we’d go back to worrying about reality TV or the crazy things going on in Washington — that’s the way human beings are. Because I think most people are like me: we expect it’s out there. And our reaction would be, ‘Wow, thank heavens. It’s about time.”

Earth is no longer the center of the universe, nor is it flat — at least that’s the currently accepted thinking among most scientists. And we now know, conclusively, that there are a lot more planets than the ones in our own solar system.

“The number of habitable worlds in our galaxy is certainly in the tens of billions, minimum, and we haven’t even talked about the moons. And the number of galaxies we can see, other than our own, is about 100 billion,” Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at California’s SETI Institute told HuffPost.

At the NASA/Library of Congress symposium, Shostak gave out some startling numbers about how many stars there are in the part of the universe that we can see. “It’s a big number: 10,000 billion, billion. And we know that most of those stars have planets — 70 or 80 percent. If all of those planets are sterile, and you’re the only interesting thing happening in the cosmos, then you are a miracle. That would be exceptional in the extreme. So, the middle-of-the-road approach is to say, ‘You’re not a miracle, you’re just another duck in a row of ducks.’”

“The bottom line of this,” Shostak said, “is something like one in five of all stars may have an analog to Earth. That’s a lot of habitable worlds, and, indeed, the number of Earths in our own galaxy might be on the order of 50 billion.”

Those are big numbers to ponder.

The D.C. conference included a great deal of discussion about the upcoming mission of the Hubble’s long-anticipated successor: the James Webb Space Telescope. As large as a tennis court, this deep space observatory is scheduled for a 2018 launch and will orbit beyond our moon. The Webb telescope will focus on new planetary discoveries and collect data from the atmospheres of those planets, looking for certain things that might point to what we would consider possible indicators of life.

HuffPost asked Dick, an astrobiologist, for his opinion on the continuing output of UFO reports around the world.

“I try to keep an open mind on this. Ninety-some percent can be explained by natural phenomena, etc. The question is what to do with the other 3 or 4 percent,” Dick said. “My opinion is that they should be studied further, on the one hand. By definition, they’re something that we don’t know what they are. They could be some physical, psychological or social phenomena that we don’t know about. But I think it’s jumping to a conclusion that they’re extraterrestrial. I don’t see that evidence.

“I haven’t looked at the evidence close enough to say that there’s intelligence behind it. But I’ve seen enough to know that there are unexplained things that we should look at more, and right now, the U.S. government is not doing that.” – THP

I woke up about 2 AM with my cat napping between my ankles. He had curled up and started purring, no way in hell I was going to wake him up. I rolled over and went back to sleep.

At 9 AM, I woke up to my alarm, called a store to see if my application had gone through yet, and reached down to pet Gandalf. He hadn’t moved, which I thought was strange because he’s still young and doesn’t sit still for longer than 20 minutes. I started talking to him, which usually gets a churr in response. He was silent. I nudged him off my foot, when I realized he was stiff.

I put my hand on his chest, not breathing. I panicked and picked him up, absolutely rigid and cool to the touch. His tongue was out slightly, and I started crying. I had just lost a cat a month ago, right before we got Gandalf. I shook my boyfriend awake, telling him, “There’s something wrong with Gandalf wake up wake up!”

Then I heard a churr. Gandalf sat up and stretched, then attacked my boyfriends feet for moving under the covers. Boyfriend snapped at me for scaring him awake, and told me to lay back down for a bit before I got up. From waking up, to discovering my dead cat, to waking my boyfriend up couldn’t have taken more than two minutes, but I checked my phone and it said 10:30 AM.

All day I keep checking on Gandalf, the only strange thing about him is he hasn’t let me out of his sight since this morning. Combine that with the creepy alien kitty outside and I don’t think I’ll be sleeping tonight.

FBI’s famous UFO memo fails to resolve ‘flying saucer’ mystery

Still wondering about the mystery of flying saucers and 3-foot tall aliens dressed in metallic clothing, which the FBI described in a 1950 memo? The agency has released a statement with details about the famous document.

The memo describing the mysterious UFOs was created in 1950, three years after the Roswell incident, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation claims they are not connected. In a blog post published this week, the agency says it never investigated the mysterious sightings – even though it could not explain what Guy Hottel, former head of the FBI’s Washington, D.C. field office, described.

“An investigator for the Air Force stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico,” Hottel wrote in the memo, which was addressed to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. “They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed fliers and test pilots.”

According to the document, three men including a police officer, a highway patrolman and an army guard had all reported seeing a “silver colored object high up approaching the mountains at Sardina Canyon” which then “appeared to explode in a rash of fire”. It also explained that several residents had reported witnessing two explosions, followed by a falling object.

The memo had first been released under the Freedom of Information Act in the late 1970s, but was not available online until the FBI uploaded its public records in April 2011. Since being posted to the Internet two years ago, the document has generated more than two million views, making it the FBI’s most-viewed public record in history.

The document’s publication has led to numerous media reports that labeled it as “proof” of alien existence. In 2011, the Daily Mail connected the FBI’s report to the 1947 Roswell UFO incident – an alleged extraterrestrial spacecraft crash that has been the subject of controversy for decades.

But since the FBI’s memo was published three years after the Roswell incident, the agency wants the media to know that it is a separate incident and that it never solved the mystery.

“The Hottel memo does not prove the existence of UFOs. It is simply a second- or third-hand claim that we never investigated,”  the bureau said in a blog post on its website.

“There is no reason to believe the two are connected,” the post added.

Even though it is the FBI’s job to investigate potential security threats, which may include unidentified flying objects and mysterious explosions, the agency has defended its inaction, claiming that verifying UFO sightings is not part of its job description.

“The FBI has only occasionally been involved in investigating reports of UFOs and extraterrestrials,” the blog says. “For a few years after the Roswell incident, Director Hoover did order his agents—the request of the Air Force—verify any UFO sightings. That practice ended in July 1950, four months after the Hottel memo, suggesting that our Washington Field Office didn’t think enough of that flying saucer story to look into it.”

Although the FBI wants to clear up rumors about the memo and claims that it never confirmed that any sort of alien life forms had been found, the agency does admit that the sightings still remain a mystery – a statement that might instill hope among UFO believers.

“Sorry, no smoking gun on UFOs,” the agency writes. “The mystery remains…”

UK Defence Intelligence suggests witnesses may have been exposed to UFO radiation

A witness to the UK’s most famous UFO sighting says he may be suffering from the effects of radiation, and in a recent press release, points out that a UK Defence Intelligence (DI) report suggests that he may have been exposed to UFO radiation. Meanwhile, the U.S. Air Force says they have lost his service and medical records from that time.

It was reported this week that the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has admitted that they will be releasing more UFO files, despite having said that they had already released all of their UFO files. This current revelation has been due to the efforts of John Burroughs, a military witness to the UK’s most famous UFO sighting.

Burroughs says he has been seeking official answers as to what he might have experienced that night in December, 1980 when he and others witnessed a UFO. At the time, Burroughs was a U.S. Air Force security officer stationed at RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, which, along with nearby RAF Woodbridge, was on lease to the U.S. Air Force.

Since then he has had health problems and suspects that his UFO experience may have contributed to his condition. He says, “I have specific medical symptoms that are considered by some very knowledgeable people to be a fingerprint of a specific kind of radiation.”

It was actually a Freedom of Information Act Request (FOIA) he made in December that prompted the MoD to release these newly found UFO documents. However, coincidentally, the MoD did not actually post that information publicly until September 16, the day after Burroughs sent out a press release to many UK media outlets alerting them to his plight.

On the Mod’s weekly FOI responses site they posted a response to a letter by Andy Russell asking for the same files Burroughs was asking for, stating that they will release them, but it will take up to 9 months to process them first. Russell, a UK citizen, says he made the request after reading about Burroughs discussing the files at a talk in Sedona, Arizona.

Burroughs also discussed another intriguing UK UFO document that regards him specifically, and his medical issues. In December 2000, UK Defence Intelligence  created a secret report regarding UFOs. It was titled, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK Air Defence Region: Scientific & Technical Memorandum – No. 55/2/00. The memo was released to the public in 2006.

Burroughs points out that in Volume 2, on page F4, there is a discussion about the effects of “UAP radiation” on humans. UAP, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, is a phrase used for UFO. It states, ” The well-reported Rendlesham Forest/Bentwaters event is an example where it might be postulated that several observers were probably exposed to UAP radiation for longer than normal UAP sighting periods.”

The document also noted the effects of “UAP radiation” in the next section:

An important fact is that the reported effects of (presumed) UAP radiation on humans is that it is quick-acting and remembered – although, curiously, following the event there is little or no recall of events as a continuum. In short, the witness often reports an apparent ‘gaps’ or ‘lost time’ – often not accounting for up to several hours.

This section of the DI memo was shocking to Burroughs. He suffers from congenital heart failure, and suspects it has something to do with his years of service. Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services denied his claim in 2012 and told him there was no record of him being in the Air Force in 1980. They said his military records began in 1982. He had actually joined in 1979. In fact, he had to work with Arizona Senator John McCain’s office to get his records corrected. As reported by Billy Cox of the Herald Tribune, Burroughs was told by a McCain staffer, “It took a yeoman’s job to get your DD214 corrected, but we may never be able to gain access to the missing USAF medical records from 1979 to 1983.”

Another witness to the events, James Penniston, is having similar problems receiving his medical records. They believe their files have been deliberately tampered with.

Burroughs is frustrated by the whole affair, and continues to seek to get the UK and US governments to release what they know about the Rendlesham Forest incident.

He is also very concerned that he, as a witness/victim, has had to do all of this research on his own. In particularl, he wonders why researchers, such as Dr. David Clark, who helped get some of these files released and aided the UK National Archives with talking points on the UFO file releases, did not spot some of this.

Burroughs says, “Clarke was able to pick out information on key cases such as Rendlesham, offering for public understanding that the MOD thought the issue was settled, but did not include the part where they said observers experienced radiation and other side effects at Rendlesham.”

Burroughs says he realizes, “[The radiation] is not proof that the phenomenon encountered is extraterrestrial in origin, but it suggests the possibility. I am not saying I know what the phenomenon was that we encountered. Only that it was.”

Ons sterrenstelsel, de Melkweg, gaat botsen met het naburige sterrenstelsel Andromeda en dat wordt niet fraai. Dat wisten we al enkele jaren, maar het Australische centrum voor radio-astronomisch onderzoek heeft daar nu een simulatie van gemaakt die ons een idee geeft van wat er onze planeet te wachten staat.

Deze simulatie maakt deel uit van onderzoek dat probeert aan te tonen dat reuzensterrenstelsels zoals Andromeda de neiging hebben kleinere sterrenstelsels zoals de Melkweg op te vreten om te groeien.

"In oorsprong zijn alle sterrenstelsels klein. Ze groeien door gas te verzamelen dat ze omzetten in sterren", zo stelt astronoom Aaron Robotham, die dit onderzoek leidde. "Nu en dan worden sterrenstelsels letterlijk opgeslokt door grotere sterrenstelsels".

U hoeft echter nog niet meteen naar de dichtstbijzijnde schuilkelder te rennen. De kans dat u het nog meemaakt, is uiterst gering. De botsing komt er immers pas over zo'n vijf miljard jaar.

Een Britse UFO-spotter die elke dag op de website van NASA de foto's bestudeert die de Marsmobiel Curiosity maakt, heeft daar zowaar een 'verkeerslicht' gezien.

Joseph White wreef even in zijn ogen toen hij de foto zag die de Curiosity op 19 september op de rode planeet maakte. Deze keer was het geen rat of een doughnut. "Van bij het begin volg ik de foto's van NASA, ik surf elke dag naar de website om de nieuwe beelden vanop Mars te bestuderen", verklaarde White aan Western Daily Press. "Toen ik deze foto zag, dacht ik 'secondje, hier is iets vreemds aan de gang'".

Terwijl White gelooft dat wat hij op de foto zag "duidelijk door een intelligent wezen is ontworpen", gaat het hoogstwaarschijnlijk om een rots.

Eerder deze week zag blogger Paul Scott Anderson een vreemde 'val' op Mars. Volgens wetenschappers bij NADA was het een sfeer rots die zijn bolvorm aan concretie te danken heeft, een proces waarbij mineralen hard en compact worden.

Eerder werden al een iguana, een vinger, een schedel en een dijbeen 'gezien' op foto's van Mars.

Indiase Marssonde stuurt eerste foto's door - HLN.be

De Indiase Marssonde Mangalyaan, die gisteren in een baan rond de Rode Planeet is gekomen, heeft haar eerste foto's van het hemellichaam doorgestuurd. Dat heeft het Indiase ruimtevaartbureau ISRO laten weten.

De Mangalyaan is het eerste Aziatische ruimtetuig dat Mars bereikt. De fierheid van India daaromtrent kan alleen maar stijgen nu de sonde haar eerste foto's heeft doorgestuurd.

De kleurencamera op de sonde is kort na het stabiliseren van de elliptische baan van de Mangalyaan aan het werk geschoten, goed voor een tiental foto's van het oppervlak en de omgeving, vertelde wetenschappelijk directeur V. Koteswara Rao tegenover het Franse persbureau AFP. De Mangalyaan zal ook foto's van de twee manen van Mars nemen en naar het vluchtleidingscentrum in Bangalore sturen.

Nog volgens Rao is alles normaal aan boord van de slechts 74 miljoen dollar kostende sonde die in de eerste plaats een technologische demonstratiemissie voert. Niettemin doet de Mangalyaan, ('Mom' of 'Mars Orbiter Mission' in het jargon) ook aan heus wetenschappelijk onderzoek, bijvoorbeeld naar de aanwezigheid van methaan in de atmosfeer. Landen doet 'Mom' niet.

(N.Morgan) A very strange butterfly pattern showed up on radar over St. Louis Missouri, last week was built from actual butterflies, the National Weather Service said. Which since we saw so few butterflies this year, may be a good sign. In a rare coincidence, a giant swarm of migrating monarch butterflies resembled a butterfly on radar for a short time Friday afternoon. Forecasters suspect hundreds of monarchs were flying between 5,000 feet and 6,000 feet (1,525 meters to 1,825 meters) above the ground, heading south to Mexico. Though small, their fluttering wings are good radar targets, the National Weather Service said on Facebook. No one saw the butterflies, but the radar signals suggest the “targets” were flapping, flat and biological, similar to a monarch.

Hummingbirds are migrating now as well, but the zippy birds prefer to fly at treetop level, ruling out a Hitchcock-like scenario, according to the weather service. The double-butterfly is not the first time a radar image mirrored its maker. In 2011, a startled flock of blackbirds in Beebe, Arkansas, looked like a bird’s head and beak. A strange radar image that puzzled forecasters in Huntsville, Alabama, in June 2013, turned out to be reflective particles used to test military radar. The butterfly blob’s timing matches up with a recent monarch exodus from the Great Lakes region, as tracked by the nonprofit Monarch Watch. The Eastern population spends summers spread across the Great Lakes and the northeastern United States and Canada, and then migrates in the fall toward Michoacan, in western central Mexico. (A Western population summers in California, but also winters in Mexico.) The monarchs may have gathered together because of favorable weather conditions. Monarchs take advantage of air currents to soar like birds, conserving energy for their two-month trip to Mexico. Sometimes the butterflies fly in ones or twos, but swarms of dozens or hundreds of stunning orange-winged insects have been sighted by people tracking their migration, according to Monarch Watch.

Ancient Aliens Theory Evidence and Photos – According to most Ancient alien theorists and AliensWereHere.com : thousands of years ago, extraterrestrials landed on Earth, where they were hailed as gods and helped shape human civilization.  The Nazca Lines – Located in South America, etched into a high plateau in Peru’s Nazca Desert, a series of ancient designs stretching more than 50 miles has baffled archaeologists for decades. Along with simple lines and geometric shapes, they include drawings of animals, birds and humans, some measuring more than 600 feet across.

Because of their colossal size, the figures can only be appreciated from way up in the air —and there is no evidence that the Nazca people, who inhabited the area between 300 B.C. and 800 A.D., invented flying machines. According to ancient alien theorists, the figures were used to guide spaceships as they came in for a landing, and the lines served as runways.

* Vimanas - Many Sanskrit epics, which were written in India more than two millennia ago, contain references to mythical flying machines called vimanas.

There seems to be similarities between descriptions of vimanas and reports by people who claim to have seen UFOs.  Ancient alien theorists have suggested that astronauts from other planets visited India during ancient times.

 The Moai of Easter Island - The Polynesian island of Easter Island is famous for its “maoi”: the 887 giant human figures with enormous heads that guard its coastline.

Approximately 500 years old, these monolithic statues stand 13 feet high and weigh 14 tons, but some are twice as tall and much heavier. How could human beings without sophisticated tools or knowledge of engineering craft and transport such incredible structures? Pacal’s Sarcophagus – From Mexico, Pacal the Great ruled over the Mayan city of Palenque during the seventh century. The lid of his sarcophagus is proof and evidence for ancient alien theorists. Look at the picture closely.. it looks like Pacal is pictured in a spaceship, with his hand on controls, his foot on a pedal and an oxygen tube in his mouth?

The intricately carved lid of his sarcophagus has become a classic work of Mayan art—and also proof and evidence for ancient alien theorists. The medieval map known as the Piri Reis Map allegedly shows the Earth as it is seen from above.  How is this possible in midieval times?

 Here are two images from France, the cave of “Pech Merle” near “Le Cabrerets” c.17,000 – 15,000 BC. The scene depicts a landscape full of wildlife together.  Can you see the saucer shaped objects? The UFO looking objects seem totally out of context.

Here are examples of rock art from Toro Muerto,Peru 12-14,000 years old. Notice the beings have some sort of halo or covering over their heads, almost as if they are supernatural or extraterrestrial (compare with the Val Camonica photo below). Also, in the left hand picture there is some sort of object left of the main being. Possibly a space craft or UFO ?

This cave painting is c.10,000 BC and is from Val Camonica, Italy. It appears to depict two beings in protective suits, similar to astronaut suits, holding strange implements or tools.  What pushed the ancient people to paint this?

This strange suited figure was found in Kiev and approximately dated to 4,000 BC.  

This 7000 year old petroglyph was discovered in the province of Querato, Mexico in 1966. Depicts four beings with their arms outstretched below a large oval object radiating what appear to be beams of light.

More strange looking beings (aliens) this time from Sego Canyon , Utah. Estimated up to 5,500 BC 

 Here are illustrations from a book by Lt. Grey. “Journals of Two Expeditions of Discovery in North-West and Western Australia 1837, 1838, & 1839″. He led an expedition in the 19th century near the Glenelg River region of Kimberley, Northern Australia where he came across a series of cave paintings.  Aborigines painted these beings in caves and called them the Wandjina.

Here are more examples of Wandjina. These a images from Kimberley, Australia. Possibly 5,000 years old. Some people believe they may represent Alien beings. Notice the “alien like” shapes to some of the heads.

Here are photos of a number of reptilian entities found in Iraq. Dated at 5000-4500 BC. They are housed in the british museum.

The photos above are figures found in Equador. Notice they appear to be wearing astronaut space suits. You can see a comparison photo with an Apollo astronaut.

Mound Pyramid in China – Pyramids have been found all across the globe, many seem to follow the same dimensions, as if built by the same architect.  How is this possible?

The Sumerians are one the oldest civilizations known to man.  Here are pictures of the Annunaki  -   The Sumerians believed they were created by the Annunaki.  The Sumerians believed the Annunaki came from the stars to planet earth to mine for gold.  The Annunaki needed workers to mine for gold, so they genetically engineered and created the Sumerians(or humans).

This is photo of the Antikythera Mechanism – This ancient artifact is considered to me the first computer.  How did they have this technology?

This painting is called “The Madonna with Saint Giovannino”. Painted in the 15th century by Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-1494) and hangs as part of the Loeser collection in the Palazzo Vecchio. Above Mary’s right shoulder is a disk shaped object. Below is a blow up of this section and a man and his dog can clearly be seen looking up at the object.

Frescos throughout Europe which reveal the appearance of space ships in the skies including this painting in 1350. It seems to depict a small human looking man looking over his shoulder – at another UFO as if in pursuit – as he flies across the sky in what is clearly a space ship. The leading craft is decorated with two twinkling stars, one reminiscent of national insignia on modern aircraft. This painting hangs above the altar at the Visoki Decani Monestary in Kosovo, Yugoslavia.

UFO mania: Has our existence been hijacked eons ago by higher dimensional entities?

If so, then this prison of minds has the door wide open and we can choose to exit it, whenever we desire. All that is required is for us to wake up from the dream, so that we can see the door... and to actually want to go out and "disconnect." The unbreakable Free Will Free Will is, allegedly, one of the unbreakable laws of our multiverse. Those who know the rules of the game can bend them in their favor by using various tricks and smoke screens, but they can never brake them. 

This means that our consent was required and we are dreaming this collective dream because we - somehow - agreed to partake.

Remember what Morpheus told Neo in The Matrix film?

Morpheus: "The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us, even now in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

Unfortunately, most of the people love it here! This reality of pain and sufferance suits them perfectly and they would never brake the spell, if given the opportunity. This reality is a drug and too many people are addicted to it.

Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, and carpenters; the very minds of the people we are trying to save. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. Dreams should make us question reality When we dream at night, we don't realize that it is all happening in our minds. No matter how absurd and impossible a dream is, we never question it while asleep. In fact, the dream is so real to us, that when we wake up to this existence, we are emotionally affected by it. So what makes that a dream, and this a reality?

Dreams within the dream

After studying the life work of so many scientists (e.g. Dr. Ian Stevenson, Dr. Helen Wambach, Dr. Michael Newton) who were able to bring such conclusive evidence proving reincarnation, I am now a strong believer myself.

Holding this knowledge makes one decode this experience that we call "life on Earth," as being similar to "going to college" and partially explains the reason why we are here: to learn and evolve, one lesson at a time.

And as soon as we master all of the given lessons, we conclude the incarnation cycle and we proceed with new challenges, in a vastly superior dimension.

But this also means that we are now, in fact, still dreaming and everything around us is virtual, non-existing. The software that we are now part of, is designed to trick us into believing that all of this is real, when in fact, it is not.

According to the thousands of people who have been regressed into the life between lives by the Newton Institute professionals, everything that we experience here is designed to teach us important lessons. As soon as we die in this "reality," we instantly wake up as non-physical entities, with vastly superior capabilities as compared to those of a human vehicle.

This is also confirmed by those who have had a near-death experience or those who are able to consciously move out of the human vehicle through what is known as "astral projection."

This means that when we die, we are basically waking up from a collective dream. A very profound and intense one, but still a dream.

Let's do a quick recap:

When we dream, we don't question that "reality," no matter how absurd it becomes. For us, those things are real and we do our best to cope with everything. We only decode the experience as a dream, after we wake up. More or less, the same goes for life and death: after we die, we wake up in another "reality" and decode the previous one as yet another dream.

It's very similar to Inception's concept of dreams within the dream...

The Holographic Illusion of Reality

Pondering about dreams for a while will inevitably lead you to the conclusion that dreams are various states of holographic realities.

When we wake up from a dream, we can no longer interact with the dream world, because we have already moved out of it. Dreams are holographic realities created by our minds, and there are people who trained themselves to become aware while dreaming and consciously interact with the dream world around them.

(This technique is called lucid dreaming and there are various ways for everyone to learn it).

A similar thing happens to us when we die. Our consciousness moves not only out of the human vehicle, but also out of this holographic reality, thus making interaction with this realm almost impossible.

The ensalvers are basically broadcasting a web of negativity within this reality (and who knows within how many other), a low vibrational matrix of pain and sufferance, with the intent of torturing our minds and making us generate negative energies. If "they" are broadcasting this perverted version of reality from within this dimension, as all evidence suggests, then all we have to do in order to break free is to become aware and evolve beyond their vibration of control.

Paranormics wishes to be able to provide a conduit to Ufology for newcomers to this field. Many times when you are talking/debating with a UFO skeptic one of the first things out of their mouths is where’s the proof? Show me something real, something from a reputable, established, respected, and most of all connected source. Most of the time providing that kind of evidence on demand is hard to do. If the stockholders of Lias Inc needed a blueprint for their plan to hoodwink wealthy investors with tales of crashed flying saucers and reverse engineered alien technology, they didn’t have to look very far. Conveniently for them, a blueprint already existed in the form of the Aztec UFO scam that fooled wealthy investor’s way back in the late 40′s and early 50′s.

Silas Newton (1887-1972) was a wealthy oil company con man who asserted he had a gadget that could detect minerals and oil. He was mentioned as an authority in Frank Scully’s book Behind the Flying Saucers, a work that maintained to report on several UFO crashes in the region of New Mexico. In 1950, Newton said that a flying saucer crashed on land he leased in the Mojave Desert; nonetheless, he revised his claim in 1952, saying he never saw a flying saucer but had just repeated remarks he heard from others. These files detail the FBI’s investigations into the deceptive actions of Newton between 1970 and 1951.

Frank Scully’s “Behind the Flying Saucers”, released in September 1950 by Henry Holt & Co, was a story of crashed flying saucers and dead alien bodies, mixed in with a load of nonsense about where they came from, how they got here and why. Dr Gee was supposedly a brilliant government scientist in the area of magnetic energy and told Scully he’d examined crashed flying saucers for the government. In fact, Dr Gee’s real name was Leo GeBauer and he owned a radio and tv parts shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Newton was the president of his own oil exploration company, the Newton Oil Company. It was this area of petroleum exploration where the two con artists were to earn the money from their saucer scam.

Newton was no stranger to swindling wealthy people out of their hard-won money. In September 1934, Newton was arrested and charged with selling a person $25,000 of unworthy stock. He was also inquired for two occurrences of stock fraud and was sued for tricking another individual out of $28,000. His Flying Saucer/Brilliant Scientist scam were more money than him and GeBauer ever could have dreamed of.

Nazca Lines of Kazakhstan: More Than 50 Geoglyphs Discovered

More than 50 geoglyphs with various shapes and sizes, including a massive swastika, have been discovered across northern Kazakhstan in Central Asia, say archaeologists.

These sprawling structures, mostly earthen mounds, create the type of landscape art most famously seen in the Nazca region of Peru.

Discovered using Google Earth, the geoglyphs are designed in a variety of geometric shapes, including squares, rings, crosses and swastikas (the swastika is a design that was used in ancient times). Ranging from 90 to 400 meters (295 to 1,312 feet) in diameter, some of them are longer than a modern-day aircraft carrier. Researchers say that the geoglyphs are difficult to see on the ground, but can easily be seen from the sky. [See Photos of the Amazing Geoglyphs in Kazakhstan]

Over the past year, an archaeological expedition from Kazakhstan's Kostanay University, working in collaboration with Vilnius University in Lithuania, has been examining the geoglyphs. The team, which is conducting archaeological excavations, ground-penetrating radar surveys, aerial photography and dating, recently presented its initial results at the European Association of Archaeologists' annual meeting in Istanbul.

Many of the geoglyphs were made of earthen mounds, although one example, a swastika, was made using timber.

Archaeological excavations uncovered the remains of structures and hearths at the geoglyphs, suggesting that rituals took place there, said archaeologists Irina Shevnina and Andrew Logvin, of Kostanay University, in an email to Live Science. Ancient tribes may also have used the geoglyphs to mark ownership of the land, the researchers noted.

"As of today, we can say only one thing — the geoglyphs were built by ancient people. By whom and for what purpose, remains a mystery," said Shevnina and Logvin.

Why they're builders used geometric shapes is also a mystery, although the swastika is an ancient symbol found throughout Europe and Asia.

Geoglyphs around the world

While Peru's Nazca Lines are the world's most famous geoglyphs, archaeological research suggests that geoglyphs were constructed in numerous areas around the world by different cultures.

For instance, in the Middle East, archaeologists have found thousands of wheel-shaped structures that are easily visible from the sky, but hard to see on the ground. Also recently in Russia, archaeologists excavated a geoglyph shaped like an elk, which appears older than the Nazca Lines.

Ancient geoglyphs have also been reported in many other countries, including the United Kingdom, Brazil and even the Southwestern United States. The introduction of high-resolution Google Earth imagery over the last decade has helped both professional archaeologists and amateurs detect and study these enigmatic structures.
