WEERNIEUWSStrandbezoekers in Knokke en nagenoeg de hele Nederlandse kust hebben zich afgelopen nacht kunnen vergapen aan een felblauwe, bijna magische gloed in het water. De kleur werd veroorzaakt door zeevonk, een eencellige algensoort die de eigenschap heeft op te lichten als het in beweging wordt gebracht.
Op Twitter deelden mensen veelvuldig beelden van het blauw oplichtende water. De zeevonk was te zien vanaf de kust in Knokke tot aan het Waddeneiland Terschelling (in het noorden van Nederland). Dat meldt het Twitteraccount ZeevonkAlert, dat alle meldingen bijhield.
Zeevonk (Noctiluca scintillans) is een eencellig beestje, een zogeheten zweephaardiertje, die algen eet. Het heeft een lichtgevend enzym dat actief wordt bij beweging door bijvoorbeeld golfslag. Een chemische reactie veroorzaakt dan het blauwe licht.
Het natuurverschijnsel komt bijna elk jaar voor bij warm, zonnig, windstil weer. “De alg licht op wanneer water in beweging komt. Op de foto zullen er golfjes geweest zijn of steentjes in het water zijn gegooid, waardoor je het blauwe licht ziet”, legde Ben Lankamp van Weerplaza vorig jaar al eens uit.
De algen geven niet onbeperkt licht: als zeevonk ‘tot bloei komt’, maakt de alg het pigment caroteen aan, ook wel het ‘worteltjespigment’ genoemd. Zodra zeevonk in dat stadium is, geeft het geen licht meer ’s avonds. Gelukkig hebben we dan de foto’s nog.

WETENSCHAP & PLANEETIn Nederland zijn vanavond veel mensen opgeschrikt door een harde knal. Sommige Nederlanders zeggen dat ze ook een vuurbal hebben gezien. Een meteoriet misschien? Bij de ‘Werkgroep Meteoren’ (Nederlandse vereniging voor meteoorwaarnemers en -liefhebbers, red.) kwamen in ieder geval al ruim 200 meldingen binnen.
Ook op sociale media zijn er veel meldingen van mensen die iets vreemds hebben gezien en/of gehoord. Meldingen over een doffe, harde knal kwamen eerst uit onder andere Zwolle, maar ook van verder weg, tot in Drenthe en Friesland. Vanuit heel Oost-Nederland worden er intussen berichten gepost over de ferme dreun. Sommigen zagen ook een fel licht of een vuurbal aan de hemel. Speculatie alom intussen over een mogelijke meteoriet, maar het is onduidelijk of dat echt zo is.
Bij de de Werkgroep Meteoren zijn vanavond tot dusver 220 meldingen binnengekomen van mensen die een meteoor boven Nederland denken gespot te hebben. “De mensen hebben de heldere vuurbol omstreeks half tien ’s avonds gezien”, zegt Joost Hartman van de Werkgroep Meteoren. “De meeste meldingen komen uit het oosten van Nederland. Er zijn ook mensen die harde knallen hebben gehoord. Zelf heb ik die heldere vuurbol helaas gemist.” Hartman weet niet zeker of al die mensen een meteoor hebben gezien, maar het lijkt hem wel waarschijnlijk.
Een meteoor is een stofdeel dat verbrandt in de dampkring. Soms gaat dat gepaard met een knal.
Zag net meteoriet overschieten zo'n 50 meter boven m'n hoofd in park Westerveld in Elde die richting Driel ging. Ik dacht eigenlijk dat hij in het park zou neerstorten. Was een object die vanachter een fel licht gaf, en van voor donker, geluidloos en met hoge snelheid...

Gigantisch ‘object’ gespot bij ISS waarna NASA de livestream onderbreekt. Bekijk het filmpje
De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA wordt ervan beschuldigd de livestream van het internationale ruimtestation ISS te hebben onderbroken op het moment dat er een ongeïdentificeerd vliegend object in beeld verscheen.
In een filmpje dat begin november op YouTube is geplaatst, is te zien hoe één van de camera’s van het ISS een groot, blauw object vastlegt achter één van de zonnepanelen van het ruimtestation.
Het object wordt enkele seconden gevolgd en er wordt zelfs op ingezoomd, waarna het beeld plotseling op zwart gaat.
Opvallend
“Het High Definition Earth Viewing-experiment wisselt momenteel van camera of het signaal is tijdelijk onderbroken,” zagen kijkers in beeld verschijnen.
Het is erg opvallend dat het signaal iedere keer ‘wordt onderbroken’ op het moment dat een ongeïdentificeerd object opduikt, schrijft het Russische persbureau Sputnik.
NASA liegt
Diverse mensen schreven onder het filmpje, dat eerder deze week werd gedeeld door de Britse Daily Star, dat ‘de NASA liegt’.
“Dat is een vreemde vlek bij het ruimtestation,” schreef iemand. Een ander dacht dat het object een ‘ijsbal’ zou kunnen zijn.

That wasn’t enough, and Mitanni was eventually defeated by the Hittite and assimilated so completely that very little is known of the dynasty. That may change with the discovery of a MIttani palace in Iraqi Kurdistan after drought exposed it in a reservoir.

“The find is one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the region in recent decades and illustrates the success of the Kurdish-German cooperation.”
Cooperation is always a good thing, especially at archeological sites in areas of political strife. Kurdish archaeologist Hasan Ahmed Qasim was working with Dr. Hasan Ahmed Qasim and Dr. Ivana Puljiz on a joint research project between the University of Tübingen and the Kurdistan Archaeology Organization (KAO) in cooperation with the Duhok Directorate of Antiquities after a drought caused the water level of the Mosul Reservoir in northern Iraq to drop unexpectedly and substantially, revealing the remains of a Bronze Age palace which is believed to have once stood on the edge of the Tigris River valley in the Mitanni town of Kemune. The site was first discovered in 2010, but the recent drop in water level was the first change archeologists had to do some serious digging
According to the press release by the University of Tübingen, the palace was a solid structure with two-meters thick mud walls, some standing over two meters high. A number of rooms were identified and those contained items that may finally shed some light on the Mitanni empire. One contained ten cuneiform clay tablets which suggest that Kemune may have once be the ancient city of Zachiku, which was thought to have existed in that area 400 years before. (Photos of the site here.) However, it’s what was on the walls that got the archeologists most excited, according to Puljiz.
“We also found remnants of murals in bright shades of red and blue. Mural paintings may have been a typical feature of palaces in the 2nd millennium BC, but they have seldom been preserved. Therefore, the discovery of murals in Kemune is an archaeological sensation.”
This is yet another important archeological site covered by the waters of a dam – in this case, the Mosul Reservoir of the Mosul Dam, the largest dam in Iraq. Completed in 1986, provides electricity to the 1.7 million residents of Mosul … and also some anxiety. The dam was briefly taken over by ISIS in 2014 and it has required constant maintenance and repairs due to being built on top of gypsum, a soft mineral that dissolves in contact with water. Whose bright idea was this? Saddam Hussein.

“The Mittani empire is one of the least-explored ancient Near Eastern empires. So far, information about the palaces of the Mittani period has only been found in Tell Brak in Syria and in the cities of Nuzi and Alalach on the outskirts of the empire.”
Saddam may be gone, but instability remains – both in the dam and the region. This appears to be an important central palace of the Mittani Empire, and could help locate its capital, which has remained a mystery in an empire of mysteries.
Will the researchers be able to uncover the secrets of the Mittani Empire and outrace the instability of the governments and the dam? Cooperation will help. So will luck. And don’t forget the climate change that caused the drought.
I found a 300 meter long ship in a small crater on earths moon today. The ship is parked along the edge of the crater upper wall and is actually hovering above the ground. The shadow below it really shows the detail of its hight and size. To find its measurement I had to use a nearby crater called Messier A, which has a diameter of 11km. This helped me determine the size of the UFO itself. This is a white ceramic style ship. That means its reflective like shiny white ceramic and this makes it near impossible to get a detailed photo of unless its in the shadows. Scott C. Waring
This amazing six sided structure with a tower at its center was dicovered by Youtuber Jean Ward. He found a hexagon, a six sided structure. There is no way that such a large structure could be found in nature like this. Its huge, about half a km across. This is an amazing discovery and is proof that aliens did once live on Mars and the structures they left behind are still intact. A potential base for humanity in the future. Scott C. Waring

These glowing orbs were seen over France this week. The eyewitness used a special app to record it that placed a bar across the video. Its strange, but today there are many video sharing apps that do such things. Kinda hurts the video, but it is still helpful in deterring the size and appearance of the UFOs. The orbs are flying together in unison, a fleet.
Vrijdagavond laat verschenen er ineens overal berichten over mensen die een soort explosie in de lucht hadden gehoord.
Daarnaast hebben velen een vuurbol gezien en het is waarschijnlijk geen toeval dat dit juist deze week gebeurt.
Niemand weet op dit moment precies wat het was wat die knal veroorzaakte boven een groot deel van het land, maar gekoppeld aan het feit dat er ook heel veel waarnemingen waren van een vuurbol in de lucht, lijkt het inderdaad op een meteoriet.
Mensen door het hele land hebben rond half tien vanavond een fel licht of een vuurbal aan de hemel gezien. En in de omgeving van Zwolle wordt tegelijkertijd gesproken over een doffe, harde knal. Op sociale media wordt gespeculeerd dat het een meteoriet was, maar het is niet duidelijk of dat ook echt zo is.
De berichten komen overal vandaan, van het Groningse Kropswolde tot het Brabantse Beek en Donk. Een woordvoerder van de veiligheidsregio IJsselland zegt dat er geen meldingen zijn gedaan van een inslag van een meteoriet.
We vonden een korte opname die iemand heeft gemaakt van het geluid en dit is dan klaarblijkelijk wat men hoorde:

Grootste onzin, Stond op hoogste natuurlijke plek van Drenthe, Midden in natuurgebied en zag hem van oost naar west over me heen komen, Geen knal of iets wat daar op lijkt gehoord.
Ook de volgende twee Tweets laten geen relatie zien tussen vuurbol in de lucht en de knal.
Maar, dan komen er ook berichten van mensen die zowel de vuurbol hebben gezien als ook de knal gehoord.
Deze asteroïde werd door astronomen op Hawaii enkele uren voordat deze de dampkring binnenkwam ontdekt. Op het moment dat dit gebeurde brak de asteroïde uit elkaar en explodeerde met een kracht 6.000 ton TNT.
Het komt bijna nooit voor dat astronomen een asteroïde ontdekken voordat deze inslaat op de aarde. Dit keer gelukkig niet op de grond, maar de explosie was wel zo heftig dat satellieten in een omloopbaan om de aarde deze registreerden.
We schreven iets meer dan een week geleden dat deze week een relatief gevaarlijke week kon worden voor de aarde en dat de beruchte Tunguska explosie in 1908 ook eind juni plaatsvond en waarschijnlijk ook is veroorzaakt door een asteroïde die de dampkring binnenkwam en vervolgens explodeerde:
De datum van de explosie (30 juni) staat in verband met de 'Tauriden', een meteorenzwerm, die de baan van de Aarde kruist. Dergelijke zwermen stof en fijn gruis, vaak op Aarde zichtbaar als 'sterrenregen', ontstaan uit kometen die verdampen en uiteenvallen. Het is niet onmogelijk dat een nog niet geheel tot stof vergaan brokstuk van de moederkomeet (komeet Encke) de Aarde heeft getroffen.
Nu begeeft de aarde zich wederom richting Tauriden, maar dit keer is er iets bijzonders. En dat is dat we nu heel dicht bij die meteorietenzwerm in de buurt zullen komen. De laatste keer dat we zo dichtbij kwamen was in 1975 en de volgende keer dat dit zal gebeuren is in 2032.
Er zijn wetenschappers die vermoeden dat er zich binnen die Tauriden meteorietenzwerm een aantal grotere brokstukken (meer dan 100 meter doorsnee) bevinden die een bedreiging voor de aarde zouden kunnen vormen.
Natuurlijk wordt er altijd gezegd dat de kans dat de aarde in botsing komt met een brokstuk van meer dan 100 meter doorsnee heel erg klein is en maar eens in de zoveel jaar voor komt. Feit is echter dat we in een dusdanig turbulente tijd leven dat er steeds vaker "eens in de duizend jaar" gebeurtenissen plaatsvinden.
Er is trouwens ook zonder de Tauriden een opvallende toename waar te nemen van meteorieten.
In het volgende overzicht zie je dat de eerste vijf maanden van dit jaar een groter aantal meteorieten laat zien dan in alle voorgaande jaren.
Verontrustend is natuurlijk wel dat astronomen asteroïden vaak helemaal niet of pas op het laatste moment opmerken. En dat in een tijd waar er steeds meer van die objecten richting aarde schijnen te komen.
On April 30, 2001, the National Security Archive issued a statement that read as follows: “In his new exposé of the National Security Agency entitled Body of Secrets, author James Bamford highlights a set of proposals on Cuba by the Joint Chiefs of Staff codenamed OPERATION NORTHWOODS. This document, titled “Justification for U.S. Military Intervention in Cuba” was provided by the JCS to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara on March 13, 1962, as the key component of Northwoods.” The release continues: “Written in response to a request from the Chief of the Cuba Project, Col. Edward Lansdale, the Top Secret memorandum describes U.S. plans to covertly engineer various pretexts that would justify a U.S. invasion of Cuba.”
To say that these “various pretexts” were controversial is an understatement, as the National Security Archive’s press-release shows: “These proposals – part of a secret anti-Castro program known as Operation Mongoose – included staging the assassinations of Cubans living in the United States, developing a fake ‘Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington,” including “sink[ing] a boatload of Cuban refugees (real or simulated),’ faking a Cuban air force attack on a civilian jetliner, and concocting a ‘Remember the Maine’ incident by blowing up a U.S. ship in Cuban waters and then blaming the incident on Cuban sabotage. Bamford himself writes that Operation Northwoods ‘may be the most corrupt plan ever created by the U.S. government.’”
An extract from the highly-classified Operation Northwoods document file states: “The suggested courses of action are based on the premise that US military intervention will result from a period of heightened US-Cuban tensions which place the United States in the position of suffering justifiable grievances. World opinion, and the United Nations forum should be favorably affected by developing the international image of the Cuban government as rash and irresponsible, and as an alarming and unpredictable threat to the peace of the Western Hemisphere.”
The now-declassified document makes it clear that the Joint Chiefs of Staff were gung-ho for the project: “The Joint Chiefs of Staff have considered the attached Memorandum for the Chief of Operations, Cuba Project, which responds to a request of that office for brief but precise description of pretexts which would provide justification for US military intervention in Cuba. The Joint Chiefs of Staff recommend that the proposed memorandum be forwarded as a preliminary submission suitable for planning purposes. It is assumed that there will be similar submissions from other agencies and that these inputs will be used as a basis for developing a time-phased plan. Individual projects can then be considered on a case-by-case basis.”
There is also this, from the Operation Northwoods dossier: “Further, It is assumed that a single agency will be given the primary responsibility for developing military and para-military aspects of the basic plan. It is recommended that this responsibility for both overt and covert military operations be assigned the Joint Chiefs of Staff. And, finally, from the Northwoods file, we have this: “Such a plan would enable a logical build-up of incidents to be combined with other seemingly unrelated events to camouflage the ultimate objective and create the necessary impression of Cuban rashness and irresponsibility on a large scale, directed at other countries as well as the United States. The plan would also properly integrate and time phase the courses of action to be pursued. The desired resultant from the execution of this plan would be to place the United States in the apparent position of suffering defensible grievances from a rash and irresponsible government of Cuba and to develop an international image of a Cuban threat to peace in the Western Hemisphere.”
Clearly, the idea of one day possibly using false flags to try and ensure that Cuba would be perceived as a “threat to peace in the Western Hemisphere” was a highly popular one.
Researchers Decipher the History of Supermassive Black Holes in the Early Universe
Astrophysicists at Western University have found evidence for the direct formation of black holes that do not need to emerge from a star remnant. The production of black holes in the early universe, formed in this manner, may provide scientists with an explanation for the presence of extremely massive black holes at a very early stage in the history of our universe.
Shantanu Basu and Arpan Das from Western’s Department of Physics & Astronomy have developed an explanation for the observed distribution of supermassive black hole masses and luminosities, for which there was previously no scientific explanation. The findings were published today by Astrophysical Journal Letters.

The model is based on a very simple assumption: supermassive black holes form very, very quickly over very, very short periods of time and then suddenly, they stop. This explanation contrasts with the current understanding of how stellar-mass black holes are formed, which is they emerge when the centre of a very massive star collapses in upon itself.
“This is indirect observational evidence that black holes originate from direct-collapses and not from stellar remnants,” says Basu, an astronomy professor at Western who is internationally recognized as an expert in the early stages of star formation and protoplanetary disk evolution.
Basu and Das developed the new mathematical model by calculating the mass function of supermassive black holes that form over a limited time period and undergo a rapid exponential growth of mass. The mass growth can be regulated by the Eddington limit that is set by a balance of radiation and gravitation forces or can even exceed it by a modest factor.
“Supermassive black holes only had a short time period where they were able to grow fast and then at some point, because of all the radiation in the universe created by other black holes and stars, their production came to a halt,” explains Basu. “That’s the direct-collapse scenario.”
During the last decade, many supermassive black holes that are a billion times more massive than the Sun have been discovered at high ‘redshifts,’ meaning they were in place in our universe within 800 million years after the Big Bang. The presence of these young and very massive black holes question our understanding of black hole formation and growth. The direct-collapse scenario allows for initial masses that are much greater than implied by the standard stellar remnant scenario, and can go a long way to explaining the observations. This new result provides evidence that such direct-collapse black holes were indeed produced in the early universe.
Basu believes that these new results can be used with future observations to infer the formation history of the extremely massive black holes that exist at very early times in our universe.
Life on Mars Possible after Last Great Meteorite Impact Nearly 4.5 Billion Years Ago
A new international study led by Western University shows that Mars’ first ‘real chance’ at developing life started very early, 4.48 billion years ago, when giant, life-inhibiting meteorites stopped striking the red planet.
Tiny igneous zircon grains within this rock fragment were fractured by the launch from Mars but otherwise unaltered for more than 4.4 billion years. The images was taken with an optical polarizing compound microscope at Western’s Zircon & Accessory Phase Laboratory.

These findings, published online today in Nature Geoscience, suggest that conditions under which life could have thrived may have occurred on Mars from around 4.2 to 3.5 billion years ago. This predates the earliest evidence of life on Earth by up to 500 million years.
It is known that the number and size of meteorite impacts on Mars and Earth gradually declined after the planets formed. Eventually, impacts became small and infrequent enough that the near-surface conditions could allow life to develop. However, when the heavy meteorite bombardment waned has long been debated. It has been proposed that there was a ‘late’ phase of heavy bombardment of both planets that ended around 3.8 billion years ago.
For the study, Desmond Moser from Western’s Departments of Earth Sciences and Geographyand his students and collaborators analyzed the oldest-known mineral grains from meteorites that are believed to have originated from Mars’ southern highlands. These ancient grains, imaged down to atomic levels, are almost unchanged since they crystallized near the surface of Mars.

In comparison, analysis of impacted areas on Earth and its Moon shows that more than 80 per cent of the grains studied contained features associated with impacts, such as exposure to intense pressures and temperatures. The analyses of Earth, Mars and Moon samples were conducted at Western’s nationally unique Zircon & Accessory Phase Laboratory, which is led by Moser.
The results suggest that heavy bombardment of Mars ended before the analyzed minerals formed, which means, the Martian surface would have become habitable by the time it is believed that water was abundant there. Water was also present on Earth by this time so it is plausible that the solar system’s biological clock started much earlier than previously accepted.
“Giant meteorite impacts on Mars between 4.2 and 3.5 billion years ago may have actually accelerated the release of early waters from the interior of the planet setting the stage for life-forming reactions,” says Moser. “This work may point out good places to get samples returned from Mars.”

The octopus is already an impressive creature (and probably knows it) and it certainly doesn’t need any help from humans reinforcing that notion. Yet we keep studying them – possibly to prove to ourselves that we really are superior to them. Good luck with that – especially after a new study found that an octopus’ arms can and do operate independently from their brains, making snap decisions on their own. Who’s the sucker now?
“It’s an alternative model for intelligence. It gives us an understanding as to the diversity of cognition in the world, and perhaps the universe.”
Uh-oh. Is Dominic Sivitilli, a graduate student in behavioral neuroscience and astrobiology at the University of Washington in Seattle who presented the new research at the 2019 Astrobiology Science Conference (AbSciCon 2019) hinting that octopuses are from another part of the universe? Perhaps he’s implying that their arms are.
“The octopus’ arms have a neural ring that bypasses the brain, and so the arms can send information to each other without the brain being aware of it. So while the brain isn’t quite sure where the arms are in space, the arms know where each other are and this allows the arms to coordinate during actions like crawling locomotion.”
In a press release for the conference, Sivitilli describes how he watched the Giant Pacific octopus, the world’s largest, and East Pacific red octopuses captured in the Puget Sound off Seattle’s coast as he gave them objects such as cinder blocks, textured rocks, Legos and maze puzzles containing food. with food inside. After recording the arm movements on video, he used a computer program to analyze them. What he found was suckers picking up information from their environment and coordinating movements directly with other suckers, which then worked collectively to create arm movement.
Did he say “collective”?
“What we’re looking at, more than what’s been looked at in the past, is how sensory information is being integrated in this network while the animal is making complicated decisions.”
In other words, while the octopus’s brain is away, the suckers will play. Will they make decisions contrary to what the brain might make given the same data but more time? Good question. Ask an octopus.
It was just a year ago that a different scientific paper proposed that the first octopus on Earth came from “cryopreserved and matrix protected fertilized Octopus eggs” carried on-board a vessel sent here from another planet 270 million years ago. We know that octopuses can edit their own RNA. Now we know their suckers act in a coordinated collective without needing instructions from the Borg Queen brain.
What next? These researchers were having giant Pacific octopuses lift cinder blocks. They’re already smarter than us … do they need to be stronger than us too?
Bottom line … if a talking octopus head comes to your door and says he’s unarmed, check the back door – the Ocean’s Eight appendages are probably breaking in.
In April 1997, William S. Cohen, who was then the U.S. Secretary of Defense when Bill Clinton held the position of President of the United States, made an amazing and controversial statement to a packed audience at the University of Georgia, which is located in Athens. The conference at which the Secretary of Defense was speaking was The Conference on Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and U.S. Strategy. Cohen came straight to the point and told the audience that certain bodies and people – who he elected not to name, which is intriguing – were then presently “…engaging in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of Electro-Magnetic waves. So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It’s real.” Yes, it is real. We know that thanks to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. We now have in our possession an amazing – almost sci-fi like – document that details where the U.S. Air Force hopes to be in 2025, on the matter of weather modification and control – and with respect to multiple additional technologies, too. The document was written in 1996 and is amazing enough in content – even though it was written more than two decades ago. The document is entitled USAF 2025.
Researched and written by the 2025 Support Office at the Air University, Air Education and Training Command, and developed by the Air University Press, Educational Services Directorate, College of Aerospace Doctrine, Research, and Education, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, the document was “designed to comply with a directive from the chief of staff of the Air Force to examine the concepts, capabilities, and technologies the United States will require to remain the dominant air and space force in the future.” The section of the document that we need to focus our attentions upon is titled: Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025. Yes, “owning the weather.”
The U.S. Air Force offered the following, thought-provoking words: “In 2025, US aerospace forces can ‘own the weather’ by capitalizing on emerging technologies and focusing development of those technologies to war-fighting applications. While some segments of society will always be reluctant to examine controversial issues such as weather-modification, the tremendous military capabilities that could result from this field are ignored at our own peril. Weather-modification offers the war fighter a wide-range of possible options to defeat or coerce an adversary.” The USAF 2025 document adds: “The desirability to modify storms to support military objectives is the most aggressive and controversial type of weather-modification. While offensive weather-modification efforts would certainly be undertaken by U.S. forces with great caution and trepidation, it is clear that we cannot afford to allow an adversary to obtain an exclusive weather-modification capability.”
The Air Force presented a fictional scenario which goes some way towards explaining how, and under what specific circumstances, the weather may become the next weapon of conflict: “Imagine that in 2025 the U.S. is fighting a rich, but now consolidated, politically powerful drug cartel in South America. The cartel has purchased hundreds of Russian-and Chinese-built fighters that have successfully thwarted our attempts to attack their production facilities. With their local numerical superiority and interior lines, the cartel is launching more than 10 aircraft for every one of ours. In addition, the cartel is using the French system probatoire d’ observation de la terre (SPOT) positioning and tracking imagery systems, which in 2025 are capable of transmitting near-real-time, multispectral imagery with 1 meter resolution. The U.S. wishes to engage the enemy on an uneven playing field in order to exploit the full potential of our aircraft and munitions.”
So, steps are taken to engage that same enemy, but in a very strange fashion: “Meteorological analysis reveals that equatorial South America typically has afternoon thunderstorms on a daily basis throughout the year. Our intelligence has confirmed that cartel pilots are reluctant to fly in or near thunderstorms. Therefore, our Weather Force Support Element (WFSE), which is a part of the commander in chief’s (CINC) air operations center (AOC), is tasked to forecast storm paths and trigger or intensify thunderstorm cells over critical target areas that the enemy must defend with their aircraft. Since our aircraft in 2025 have all-weather capability, the thunderstorm threat is minimal to our forces, and we can effectively and decisively control the sky over the target.”
The Weather Force Support Element, the USAF 2025 document reveals, “has the necessary sensor and communication capabilities to observe, detect, and act on weather-modification requirements to support US military objectives. These capabilities, we are told “are part of an advanced battle area system that supports the war-fighting CINC. In our scenario, the CINC tasks the WFSE to conduct storm intensification and concealment operations. The WFSE models the atmospheric conditions to forecast, with 90 percent confidence, the likelihood of successful modification using airborne cloud generation and seeding.” Things then become even more science-fiction-like: “According to USAF 2025, by 2025 uninhabited aerospace vehicles (UAV) are routinely used for weather-modification operations. By cross-referencing desired attack times with wind and thunderstorm forecasts and the SPOT satellite’s projected orbit, the WFSE generates mission profiles for each UAV. The WFSE guides each UAV using near-real-time information from a networked sensor array.
“Prior to the attack, which is coordinated with forecasted weather conditions, the UAVs begin cloud generation and seeding operations. UAVs disperse a cirrus shield to deny enemy visual and infrared (IR) surveillance. Simultaneously, microwave heaters create localized scintillation to disrupt active sensing via synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems such as the commercially available Canadian search and rescue satellite-aided tracking (SARSAT) that will be widely available in 2025. Other cloud seeding operations cause a developing thunderstorm to intensify over the target, severely limiting the enemy’s capability to defend. The WFSE monitors the entire operation in real-time and notes the successful completion of another very important but routine weather-modification mission.”
While the military stated that this scenario might be viewed by some as being “far-fetched,” it was as sure as it could be that “technological advances in meteorology and the demand for more precise weather information by global businesses will lead to the successful identification and parameterization of the major variables that affect weather.” The USAF 2025 peoplethen did a bit of digging into the future, which, one suspects, will not be too far off of the mark: “By 2025, advances in computational capability, modeling techniques, and atmospheric information tracking will produce a highly accurate and reliable weather prediction capability, validated against real-world weather. In the following decade, population densities put pressure on the worldwide availability and cost of food and usable water. Massive life and property losses associated with natural weather disasters become increasingly unacceptable.
“These pressures prompt governments and/or other organizations who are able to capitalize on the technological advances of the previous 20 years to pursue a highly accurate and reasonably precise weather-modification capability. The increasing urgency to realize the benefits of this capability stimulates laws and treaties, and some unilateral actions, making the risks required to validate and refine it acceptable.” Less than a decade from now, we can suggest, our planet may not resemble the world in which we live today. After all, consider the following from the Air Force, who are confident that they will be able to “shape local weather patterns by influencing the factors that affect climate, precipitation, storms and their effects, fog, and near space. These highly accurate and reasonably precise civil applications of weather-modification technology have obvious military implications. This is particularly true for aerospace forces, for while weather may affect all mediums of operation, it operates in ours.”
The military recommended that, “the DOD explore the many opportunities (and also the ramifications) resulting from development of a capability to influence precipitation or conducting ‘selective precipitation modification.’ Although the capability to influence precipitation over the long term (i.e., for more than several days) is still not fully understood. By 2025 we will certainly be capable of increasing or decreasing precipitation over the short term in a localized area.” Perhaps most important and relevant of all is the way in which the United States was guaranteed to benefit, strategically, from the deployment of such technologies in areas of hostility: “Before discussing research in this area, it is important to describe the benefits of such a capability. While many military operations may be influenced by precipitation, ground mobility is most affected. Influencing precipitation could prove useful in two ways. First, enhancing precipitation could decrease the enemy’s trafficability by muddying terrain, while also affecting their morale. Second, suppressing precipitation could increase friendly trafficability by drying out an otherwise muddied area.”
As for the matter of not just creating storms – but definitive super-storms – that might decimate entire landscapes, and without even a bullet or a missile fired, the Air Force’s report makes things acutely obvious that it is this area, perhaps more than any other, which presents the biggest strategic gains: “The desirability to modify storms to support military objectives is the most aggressive and controversial type of weather-modification. The damage caused by storms is indeed horrendous. For instance, a tropical storm has an energy equal to 10,000 one-megaton hydrogen bombs, and in 1992 Hurricane Andrew totally destroyed Homestead AFB, Florida, caused the evacuation of most military aircraft in the southeastern US, and resulted in $15.5 billion of damage.”
On the matter of manufactured storms, we are also told: “At any instant there are approximately 2,000 thunderstorms taking place. In fact 45,000 thunderstorms, which contain heavy rain, hail, microbursts, wind shear, and lightning form daily. Anyone who has flown frequently on commercial aircraft has probably noticed the extremes that pilots will go to avoid thunderstorms. The danger of thunderstorms was clearly shown in August 1985 when a jumbo jet crashed killing 137 people after encountering microburst wind shears during a rain squall. These forces of nature impact all aircraft and even the most advanced fighters of 1996 make every attempt to avoid a thunderstorm.”
USAF 2025 then asked an important question, one which has a bearing everyone who flies – regularly or occasionally: “Will bad weather remain an aviation hazard in 2025?” In answering its very own question, the Air Force said: “The answer, unfortunately, is ‘yes,’ but projected advances in technology over the next 30 years will diminish the hazard potential. Computer-controlled flight systems will be able to ‘autopilot’ aircraft through rapidly changing winds. Aircraft will also have highly accurate, onboard sensing systems that can instantaneously ‘map’ and automatically guide the aircraft through the safest portion of a storm cell. Aircraft are envisioned to have hardened electronics that can withstand the effects of lightning strikes and may also have the capability to generate a surrounding electropotential field that will neutralize or repel lightning strikes. Assuming that the U.S. achieves some or all of the above outlined aircraft technical advances and maintains the technological ‘weather edge’ over its potential adversaries, we can next look at how we could modify the battlespace weather to make the best use of our technical advantage.”
The technology and science surrounding the issue of turning weather into weapons was further explored: “Weather-modification technologies might involve techniques that would increase latent heat release in the atmosphere, provide additional water vapor for cloud cell development, and provide additional surface and lower atmospheric heating to increase atmospheric instability.” Paramount to the success of any attempt to ignite a storm cell, noted the authors, “…is the pre-existing atmospheric conditions locally and regionally.”
In essence, that means the Earth’s atmosphere must be deemed “conditionally unstable and the large-scale dynamics must be supportive of vertical cloud development. The focus of the weather-modification effort would be to provide additional ‘conditions’ that would make the atmosphere unstable enough to generate cloud and eventually storm cell development. The path of storm cells once developed or enhanced is dependent not only on the mesoscale dynamics of the storm but the regional and synoptic (global) scale atmospheric wind flow patterns in the area which are currently not subject to human control.”
The Air Force admitted that “the technical hurdles for storm development in support of military operations are obviously greater than enhancing precipitation or dispersing fog as described earlier. One area of storm research that would significantly benefit military operations is lightning modification. Most research efforts are being conducted to develop techniques to lessen the occurrence or hazards associated with lightning. This is important research for military operations and resource protection, but some offensive military benefit could be obtained by doing research on increasing the potential and intensity of lightning.”
Let’s now take a look at the final words on this particular issue: “The lessons of history indicate a real weather-modification capability will eventually exist despite the risk. The drive exists. People have always wanted to control the weather and their desire will compel them to collectively and continuously pursue their goal. The motivation exists. The potential benefits and power are extremely lucrative and alluring for those who have the resources to develop it. This combination of drive, motivation, and resources will eventually produce the technology. History also teaches that we cannot afford to be without a weather-modification capability once the technology is developed and used by others. Even if we have no intention of using it, others will. To call upon the atomic weapon analogy again, we need to be able to deter or counter their capability with our own. Therefore, the weather and intelligence communities must keep abreast of the actions of others.
“Weather-modification is a force multiplier with tremendous power that could be exploited across the full spectrum of war-fighting environments. From enhancing friendly operations or disrupting those of the enemy via small-scale tailoring of natural weather patterns to complete dominance of global communications and counter-space control, weather-modification offers the war fighter a wide-range of possible options to defeat or coerce an adversary. But, while offensive weather-modification efforts would certainly be undertaken by US forces with great caution and trepidation, it is clear that we cannot afford to allow an adversary to obtain an exclusive weather-modification capability.”
2025 is not that far way at all. It will be interesting to see if by that year we will have perfected weather-based weaponry to a highly significant degree.
Based on a new study (which can be read here), NASA announced that they found evidence of sodium chloride – which is a huge component found in sea salt and table salt – located on the surface of Jupiter’s moon Europa. This means that the subsurface ocean on Europa is quite similar to the oceans found right here on Earth.
Even though Europa’s ocean is underneath an icy crust, the sodium chloride can still be found on the surface of the moon because of cracks or even potential geysers. Although it was previously thought that magnesium sulfates were present on the moon’s surface, scientists used a visible-wavelength spectroscopy to detect the sodium chloride.
In order to prove that what they viewed was in fact sodium chloride, testing was conducted on similar ocean salts from here on Earth. The ocean salts were introduced to the same airless atmosphere that’s on Europa, as well as the same amount of radiation. What happened was that the salt changed to a yellowish color – the same color that was found on an area of Europa called Tara Regio.
There is another possible explanation and it’s that the sodium chloride could be part of different layers that were formed on the moon’s surface, meaning that it didn’t come from the subsurface ocean. More studies will have to be conducted in order to find out for sure where the sodium chloride came from. If it did in fact come from the subsurface ocean that would mean that the ocean floor remains hydrothermally active. And if it is hydrothermally active, there could possibly be living organisms there.
Europa
NASA’s Cassini mission collected data from Saturn’s moon Enceladus and it is believed that it also has hydrothermal vents on the ocean’s floor. In fact, based on water vapor samples collected by the spacecraft, they found salts and several organic molecules in Enceladus’ ocean. Future space missions will focus on possibly finding life on Enceladus as well as Europa.
It’s incredible to think that moons so far away from us could have oceans that are very similar to our own. Not to mention that there could be a tiny possibility that living organisms could be present on those moons.

Doctor Roger Leir’s findings have been baffling and some comparisons have been made to Meteorite Samples. In addition, some of the tests show isotopic ratios not of this world.

Mystery radio waves from space tracked to a surprising home galaxy

We have tracked a strange blast of cosmic radio waves back to its home galaxy. This is the second time such a trace has been possible, but the differences from the first one may require us to rethink our ideas of what causes these so-called fast radio bursts (FRBs).
For just 1.3 milliseconds on 24 September, 2018, a barrage of radio waves arrived from space. It was pure luck that all 36 of the antennae that make up the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) were pointed in the same direction, towards the area in the sky where the FRB flashed.
That allowed researchers to combine data from all of the antennae and calculate where in the universe it came from – around 13,000 light years from the centre of its home galaxy, which is 4 billion light years away from us. “This is a magnificent technical achievement,” says Shami Chatterjee at Cornell University in New York.
We have spotted 85 FRBs since they were first discovered in 2007, but we have only been able to trace two back to their home galaxies: this one, called FRB 180924, and one discovered in 2012 called FRB 121102. FRB 121102 is one of only two bursts that have ever been caught sending out repeated blasts, which made it far easier to trace.
But FRB 180924 is surprisingly different from 121102, the ASKAP team found. Its host galaxy is 30 times brighter, with light dominated by older stars, whereas 121102 is located in a region of rapid star formation. The repeating FRB was found at the same spot as a constantly glowing radio source, and this one on the outskirts of its galaxy, not near any other radio signals.
The differences are important because, even though FRBs are constantly lighting up all over the universe, we don’t know what causes them. “Whatever exotic thing you can come up with, theorists have come up with a way to make FRBs out of it,” says Chatterjee. Many of those ideas are tailored to FRB 121102, simply because it has been the only one we have had much information about until now.
The plot thickens
It has been a matter of much debate whether all FRBs come from the same type of object or not, particularly because most of them don’t seem to repeat. The fact that these two seem to be so different, and that it is hard to make the explanations for FRB 121102 fit this new source, hint that there may be different kinds of sources for FRBs, says Victoria Kaspi at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
“We haven’t solved the problem of FRBs with this paper – if anything, the plot thickens,” Kaspi says. “With two objects that seem to be in different classes, maybe that means there are two classes and maybe it means there are 50.”
We will need to find the homes of many more FRBs to be sure – and that will be useful on its own. As the light from an FRB passes through the vast emptiness between galaxies, it picks up signals from anything that might happen to be there.
The ASKAP researchers were able to use these signals to calculate the magnetism of that space – it is very small – and we may eventually be able to use them to learn more about the fundamental nature of our universe and what is in the voids between galaxies, Kaspi says. “If you can detect many of them, you can get snapshots of the universe in all directions.”

50 klassen

In France, they’re called “cercles de culture,” although a better name might be “cercles de ooh la la” after a couple was found naked in one by the farmer whose field had already been trampled once by whatever it is that’s making these crop circles that have suddenly started cropping up all over the French countryside. The count is up to at least six and there may be many more now that one group has revealed how they made theirs. No, it wasn’t “extraterrestres,” although the juries are still out on the other five circles.
The first French cercle de culture appeared early in the growing season on June 6 in Baillet-en-France in northern France. It was spotted by a pilot in the Enghien-Moisselles flying club and posted on their Facebook page. The club reported that the pictures got more views than any other posts on their page and other pilots saw plenty of spectators – but no naked couples trying to get into the Crop Circle Club. As can be seen in the pictures, it was a fairly simple design.

The second crop circle was the big one found on June 12 in Saint-Hippolyte in northeastern France near the German border where the farmer found the nude couple doing the crop circle strut. That one was much larger – covering parts of two fields – but still fairly simple in shape. (See it here.)

The next one was reported on June 14 in a ‘cereal’ field at Menetou-Salon in central France. The owner of the field said it could have been there for up to two weeks because some of the crop was sprouting again in the paths that he believed were created by humans using tractors and boards. Again, a typical set of circles and lines and fairly plain. (See it here.)
That can also be said of one in the field of a man of La Manche on the English Channel in the northwest coast of France. The circles and crescents found on June 13 cross multiple tractor paths that could have been used for access. The count was now up to four – twice as many crop circles as had been seen in a single year in France. Whoever or whatever was making them may have been new at it because the patterns were simple in comparison to many of those that appear annually in England. (See it here.)
That changed somewhat on June 17 with a small but elaborate tight cluster of circles and triangles in a field in St-Jean of Bassel in northeast France. It was only 20 meters across (a third the size of some of the others) but geometrically pleasant. Even casual observers can see the tractor path leading up to its side. (See it here.)
That brings us full circle to the last one (for now) which was discovered on June 17 in Blaesheim in northeastern France on the German border near cercle de culture found in Saint-Hippolyte. This had a more elaborate design than the rest (see it here)
… and a good reason why. DNA.fr reported almost immediately that the circle was created by local students from the Jean Sturm Gymnasium in Strasbourg as a geometry project. Their math teacher contacted the local mayor and his brother who were also owners of a farm – thus getting both a field and access in one call. The students used the classic ropes-and-stakes crop circle strategy seen in many instructional videos and were successful in creating a nice one, that was quickly photographed by a pilot and uploaded to the Internet.

The math teacher of the students in Blaesheim said they were inspired by the crop circle in Saint-Hippolyte (for purely geometric reasons – not to attract naked couples). Is imitation the reason for the crop circle-palooza in France this summer? The simple designs, obvious tractor marks and occasional confessions push the skeptic needle towards that side, although the honesty of the students keeps the needle from plunging into the deep red ‘hoax’ area. Nonetheless, it’s an interesting phenomena.
Will it continue through the summer? Will anyone else join the French Crop Circle Club? Do the French really need crop circles for a naked rendezvous?
May 22, 1949 was the date on which the first U.S. Secretary of Defense, James Forrestal, died. Specifically at 1:50 a.m. As will quickly become apparent, the circumstances surrounding Forrestal’s final hours are swamped in controversy. All that we know with absolute certainty is that in the early hours of the 22nd, Forrestal’s body was found on a third-floor canopy of the Bethesda Naval Hospital, Maryland. Did he take a fatal leap out of the window of the 13th floor of the hospital, his mind in turmoil and suicide on his mind? Was it an accident? Or, was Forrestal terminated? Let’s have a look at this strange and disturbing affair. We’ll begin with a bit of background on the man himself. Forrestal was born just eight years before the dawning of the 20th century, in Dutchess County, New York. After after completing his education at Princeton University, he took a job with a Wall Street-based company, William A. Read and Co. A skilled figure in the field of economics, Forrestal quickly made for himself a significant amount of money. At the age of thirty-four he got married, to a journalist with Vogue, Josephine Ogden. It was hardly the ideal situation. Ogden was an alcoholic and someone who flew off the handle at just about any given moment. Forrestal had his flaws too. He was a very unemotional person: for Forrestal, getting close to people was incredibly difficult. To the point where he pretty much gave up trying. In 1940, however, things changed for Forrestal; massively so.
It was in that year that Forrestal decided to take his career in a very different direction: with the U.S. government. Amazingly, it wasn’t too long before he was offered the prestigious position of Under-Secretary of the Navy. Hardly surprisingly, Forrestal quickly accepted the prestigious position. From there, things really took off: he was soon given the job of Secretary of the Navy. Things were taken to an even greater scale when, in 1947 – the year in which the National Security Act was passed and the CIA was created – Forrestal was approached by the presidential office no less, to take on the role of Secretary of Defense; in fact, the very first U.S. Secretary of Defense ever. President Harry S. Truman was more than happy with his choice for the position. Matters soon began to change, however, and not at all in a good way – to say the very least.

It wasn’t long at all before Forrestal began to exhibit psychological problems. Depression, caused by his huge workloads, were said to have been the main cause. Matters only got worse: the depression deepened, anxiety attacks kicked in, and a notable dose of paranoia overwhelmed him. For the U.S. government, Secretary of Defense Forrestal was a major asset to the infrastructure of the United States. His psychological issues, however, had him secretly marked by President Truman as a potential danger to the orderly running of the Department of Defense. Bit by bit, and throughout 1948, Forrestal’s state got even worse. Eventually, action had to be taken. And, it was. Forrestal was relieved of his job as the Secretary of Defense. The next thing for the government was to try and help Forrestal get well. So, a decision was taken to have Forrestal admitted to the aforementioned Bethesda Naval Hospital. Most worrying for Truman’s team, however, was the genuine fear that a destabilized Forrestal just might go off the rails and spill the beans on some of the U.S. government’s most guarded secrets. It was a dangerous and unpredictable time. It would soon turn deadly.
April 2, 1949 was the date on which Forrestal was taken to the hospital – for his good and that of the government too. It was apparent to the doctors and nurses that Forrestal was in a dangerous state. Forrestal suspected – in fact, he was absolutely sure – that dangerous characters were watching his every move. Who those same characters might have been all very much depended on Forrestal’s frame of mind: sometimes it was Russian agents. On other occasions it was spies in the U.S. government. As for the latter, Forrestal thought it was J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI. Forrestal’s mind was spinning – and far from in a good way. On top of that, Forrestal stopped eating for a while. Not a good sign. It’s important to note that when Forrestal was admitted to Bethesda he was in what amounted to solitary confinement, and the windows of the room were modified so they couldn’t be opened. Notably, when Forrestal’s family inquired why such actions had been taken, Captain George N. Raines, the chief psychiatrist at Bethesda, said it was to prevent Forrestal from leaping out of the windows and killing himself – which, some believe, is exactly what happened on the fateful night that Forrestal’s life met its end.
After a few weeks in the hospital, there was a clear, welcome, improvement for Forrestal. Both the doctors and the nurses concurred. On top of that, his appetite started to return. To the point where – in the presence of Rear Admiral Morton Willcutts, who had come to see his old friend – Forrestal chowed down a huge steak. It really did appear that good times were finally ahead. That all changed, however, only two days later. Or, rather, two nights. Death was just around the corner. It was a death shrouded in mystery. Let’s see what we know for sure about those final hours for the man who held some of the U.S. government’s most important secrets. The man assigned to keep a careful watch on Forrestal was Edward Prise. He was a U.S. Navy corpsman. Such was the length of their time spent together, the pair became good friends. As the night got longer, Forrestal told Prise that he didn’t need a sleeping pill and was going to dig into a book for a while. That too was a good thing. Or, at least, it seemed to be. After Prise’s shift was over, he was replaced by another military man, Robert Wayne Harrison, Jr.Forrestal’s end was almost upon him.

At some point into his shift, Harrison, Jr. left the room to run an errand. From that point onward, everything very much becomes murky and unclear – and probably something that will never be fully resolved to the satisfaction of everyone. When Harrison, Jr. got back to the room he was shocked to the core to see that Forrestal was not in his bed. And, the room’s windows were open. Harrison, Jr. raced to the window: the cord of Forrestal’s dressing-gown was tied to the radiator near the window. Clearly, the goal was death by strangulation. It turned out, however, that Forrestal’s weight caused the cord to snap and Forrestal fell ten floors to his death; something that absolutely no-one could survive. The official theory is that Forrestal – left alone – took his own life, possibly in a brief moment when his mind swung back to that state of depression and anxiety. The big question, however, is: could Forrestal have been pushed? The reason: to make sure he could never, ever reveal what he may have been exposed to in government.
It should be stressed that at the time of his death Forrestal was in one of his best states of mind of the last few months. Moreover, Edward Prise revealed that Forrestal had told him he would like Prise to take on the job of his, Forrestal’s, personal driver. In other words, Forrestal seemed to be making plans for a good future – and not plans for the end of his life. Then, there’s the matter of Forrestal’s brother, Henry. On the day of Forrestal’s death, Henry marched into the hospital, demanding that Forrestal be released into his, Henry’s, care. If someone on “the inside” wanted Forrestal dead, then allowing Henry Forrestal to take his brother home would have been disastrous. Forrestal would have been totally out of the control of those who may have wanted him dead; something that powerful players may not have wanted. It is, then, rather telling that Forrestal died the very night before Henry was due to take his brother back to his house. That’s not all, though: there’s also the matter of why, precisely, Robert Wayne Harrison, Jr., left the room. That was completely against the grain: official orders were that Forrestal was never, ever to be left alone. And, yet, on the very night that Forrestal died, he was left alone. Henry Forrestal was deeply concerned about the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death, to the point that he came to believe that his brother had indeed been murdered.
Seventy years later, the mystery remains precisely that: a mystery.
While Navy pilots and politicians are looking on Earth for UFOs and evidence of extraterrestrial life forms (unless they’ve already found them and aren’t telling us – that’s a different article and conspiracy theory), astronomers continue to scan the skies for what they believe is the best sign of other life forms – those mysterious fast radio bursts of cosmic radio waves. Only 85 have been picked up since the first ones were discovered in 2007 and most have been single bursts, making it impossible to trace them back to their source galaxy. That changed recently when a new technology allowed astronomers to catch a burst in the act of bursting and follow it back to its home. Yes, this is a REALLY big deal.

In a press release announcing the publication of the details in the journal Science, lead author Dr. Keith Bannister described how astronomers in Australia used the new CISRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) radio telescope in Western Australia that had been equipped with even newer technology to freeze and save the telescope’s data less than a second after a burst was detected. The fast radio burst was named FRB 180924 and the team fed the captured data into three of the world’s largest optical telescopes at the W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii, the Gemini South telescope in Chile and the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (VLT), also in Chile. Those three monsters followed the burst back to the edge of the DES J214425.25?405400.81 galaxy, a Milky Way-sized formation about 3.6 billion light-years away.
No, that’s not it.
How did they do it? ASKAP is an array of dish antennas, which means the burst traveled a slightly different distance to reach each one. The technology was able to split the differences and determine not only the galaxy the FRB came from but the origin’s distance from the galaxy’s center – about 13,000 light-years.
“It comes from a massive galaxy that is forming relatively few stars. This suggests that fast radio bursts can be produced in a variety of environments, or that the seemingly one-off bursts detected so far by ASKAP are generated by a different mechanism to the repeater.”
Dr Adam Deller of Swinburne University of Technology points out another of the revolutionary discoveries about this FRB – that the bursts can originate from any type of galaxy. The “repeater” he refers to is the only other FRB – in this case, a group of repeating bursts – that has been traced back to its galaxy, which was a tiny one that was generating a lot of stars.
No, that wasn’t it either.
Why else is this a big deal? Fast radio bursts are altered by the matter they encounter in space. By tracing them back their source, astronomers can more accurately measure the amount of matter in space. Still not impressed? Here’s Dr. Bannister describing the accuracy of these billions of light years measurements:
“If we were to stand on the Moon and look down at the Earth with this precision, we would be able to tell not only which city the burst came from, but which postcode – and even which city block.” Dr Bannister said.
Sorry, it’s not proof of extraterrestrials … yet. But it’s definitely a REALLY big deal.
This week, the Moscow Times has reported that the Russian military has developed bizarre ‘cyborg’ drones shaped like snowy owls. The avian drone was unveiled at the Russian Defense Ministry’s annual military expo in Moscow this week. Images of the drone shared by the Moscow Times show a massive, menacing owl with a creepy dome-shaped lens where its beak should be. According to the Defense Ministry, the owl drone can be equipped with cameras and other surveillance equipment as well as lasers to help guide artillery and guided air-to-surface weapons.

While the owl is sure to fool absolutely nobody with normal vision up close, at a distance the drone could easily be mistaken for an owl gliding in flight. The drone owls weigh just 5 kilograms (11 pounds) and have a range of 20 kilometers (12 miles). The body of the owl can also be swapped out for different bird species such as falcons, making it adaptable for different environments.
While this ‘cyborg’ spy owl may just seem like a kooky prototype, these drones likely represent the future of surveillance and reconaissance, at least in some small part. If the Russians and the Chinese have developed these robotic bird-shaped drones, rest assured that other nations have as well. The U.S. military has been testing their own bird drones since at least 2013. Last year, the South China Morning Postreported on the development of creepy dove-shaped dronesbeing used by the Chinese Communist Party to spy on Chinese citizens in at least five different Chinese provinces.

The world’s superpowers already have a long history of attempting to use animals as spies. It now seems as if we can no longer trust any of our seemingly feathered friends flying overhead. Is it time to start shooting every bird out of the sky?
Just off the northeastern coast of the United States is a huge freshwater aquifer underneath the Atlantic Ocean. The exact size of the aquifer is still unknown, but what is known is that it stretches from Massachusetts to the southern part of New Jersey and includes the coastlines of New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. And around 670 cubic miles of it could possibly contain a bit of salty water.
It is believed that the freshwater aquifer came from the last Ice Age. Back in the 1970s when several companies were drilling for oil off the coast, they occasionally hit pockets of freshwater. However, at that time, they were unclear as to whether they were just small pockets or if they were part of a much larger area of fresh water.
Study co-researcher Kerry Key (the study can be read here), helped oil companies find oil hotspots around twenty years ago by using electromagnetic imaging on the bottom of the ocean’s floor.
Recently, he decided to change the technology in order to detect underground pools of fresh water. And in 2015, he and his study co-researcher, Rob Evans, went out into the waters off the coast of southern New Jersey and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts to examine the areas with fresh water. They put equipment into the water that measured the electromagnetic fields to find out which areas had salt water and fresh water.
What they found was that the fresh water began at the shoreline and ended up 75 miles offshore in some places, meaning that there definitely weren’t pockets that were scattered around, but instead one large uninterrupted area. It’s also quite deep, beginning at around 600 feet under the floor of the ocean and finishing at approximately 1,200 feet under the seafloor.
As for how the freshwater aquifer ended up beneath the ocean, it probably happened during the last Ice Age. Since a lot of the planet’s water was made up of glaciers around 20,000 to 15,000 years ago, the water levels were quite a bit lower than they are today. When Earth’s temperatures finally got warmer, the ice which covered the land melted which meant that much of the water washed away large amounts of sediments, forming river deltas. When the fresh water from the glaciers melted, it got trapped in the river deltas. So when the sea levels began to rise, the fresh water was stuck underneath the ocean.
Since the aquifer mixes with seawater slowly over time, the further away it is, the saltier it becomes. While the water would need to be desalinated prior to people using it, it would still be less expensive than trying to purify normal salt water. Key explained, “We probably don’t need to do that in this region, but if we can show there are large aquifers in other regions, that might potentially represent a resource” for dry locations around the planet, such as the Mideast, Saharan Africa, Australia, or Southern California.

I was checking out the sun at the SOHO/NASA site called helioviewer and noticed a triangle UFO that was in close orbit around our sun. The sun was rotating, but he black triangle craft remained in place. The object was colder than the sun, otherwise the UFO would also be the same color as the sun.
About 15 years ago I read an article in the news that was about two Russian scientists that recorded UFOs flying around our sun. These UFOs they said, were often as big as our moon and made hard right angle changes of direction. They also would decrease and increase speed for no apparent reason. They said they believed the UFOs were gathering a certain rare particle created by the sun. The story soon disappeared and so did the scientists. But I remember it, so I keep looking and yesterday found this. 100% proof that those scientists were correct.
A new study suggests that Mars may have exhibited conditions fit for harboring life as early as 4.48 billion years ago, which would predate the earliest evidence of life on Earth by half a billion years.

The solar system’s early history was wrought with violence, filled with rock and debris flying everywhere. This is evidenced by the countless craters that dot the surface of virtually every planet, moon, and even asteroid, in the solar system. Chemical analysis shows that each of these bodies must have formed and cooled before these impacts began about 4 billion years ago, during a time known as the Late Bombardment Period. Eventually, the impacts became smaller and infrequent, allowing life to develop on Earth — and possibly elsewhere, too.
When exactly this heavy bombardment ended has always been a matter of debate among scholars. In a new study, astronomers at Western University analyzed minerals from the oldest-known Martian meteorites. The team imaged tiny grain samples from the meteorites down to the atomic level, revealing that they are almost unchanged since they crystalized on the surface of Mars eons ago.
In comparison, samples taken from impact sites on Earth and its moon show that more than 80% of the studied grains had been altered by the intense pressure and heat of the impacts. This all means that heavy bombardment on Mars ended by the time the analyzed minerals formed some 4.48 billion years ago.
According to the researchers at Western University, the Martian surface could have been habitable around the time it is believed that water was abundant there. Based on this new timeline, the researchers believe there was a 700-million-year period between 3.5 billion and 4.2 billion years ago when Martian life could’ve thrived. Because water was also present on Earth by this time, it is plausible that life in the solar system may have started much earlier than previously accepted.
“Giant meteorite impacts on Mars may have actually accelerated the release of early waters from the interior of the planet setting the stage for life-forming reactions,” Western researcher Desmond Moser said. “This work may point out good places to get samples returned from Mars.”
It also means that there’s a chance that if there was ever life on Mars, it could have first appeared there before life on Earth. There’s also a chance that life originating on Mars may have migrated to Earth via meteorites, although this is purely the author speculating at this point.

Tijdens de Twittersessie gisteren vroeg iemand aan Musk of passagiers vrij zouden kunnen rondlopen in de cabine van de raket. “Dat zou niet verstandig zijn”, klonk het antwoord. “Er zal vermoedelijk een veiligheidssysteem nodig zijn om iedereen op zijn plaats te houden, zoals in Disney’s Space Mountain-rollercoaster. Het zal op veel manieren hetzelfde gevoel geven als een ritje op Space Mountain. Je zal alleen uitstappen op een ander continent.”
Als gevolg daarvan zouden alle tickets dezelfde (tweede of economy) klasse hebben. Er zou geen cockpit nodig zijn, geen voedsel bedeeld worden en er zou geen toilet zijn. WETENSCHAPRuimtevaartorganisatie NASA heeft een missie aangekondigd naar planetoïde 16 Psyche. Die bevat waarschijnlijk zoveel goud en platina dat de opbrengst ervan, in theorie, iedere aardbewoner schatrijk kan maken. De totale waarde van de grondstoffen op 26 kilometer grote rots is namelijk een slordige 9.000.000.000.000.000.000 euro, oftewel 9 triljoen. Dat komt neer op een bedrag van 1,3 miljard euro voor elke bewoner op aarde.
Hoewel de planetoïde door de grote hoeveelheden ijzer, nikkel en diverse edelmetalen extreem waardevol is, is het niet vooralsnog bedoeling om 16 Psyche te gaan ontginnen met mijnbouw. Volgens NASA heeft dat een aantal redenen. Allereerst kan de planetoïde pas astronomische bedragen opleveren als het ding compleet naar aarde wordt gebracht, in stukjes wordt gehakt en verwerkt. 16 Psyche naar onze planeet brengen is onmogelijk. Wel zou dat misschien in stapjes kunnen met peperdure mijnbouwmissies, maar ook dat is toekomstmuziek.
NASA wil met de onbemande missie, die in 2022 begint en vier jaar later afgerond zal zijn, ontdekken of er daadwerkelijk veel edelmetalen in 16 Psyche zitten. Waarschijnlijk wel, zo blijkt uit metingen die vanaf de aarde zijn gedaan. De planetoïde vliegt extreem ver weg tussen Mars en Jupiter en bevindt zich tussen de 378 en 497 miljoen kilometer van de zon. Het ding draait, net als de aarde, om de zon. Een baan duurt vijf jaar. Die van de aarde 365 dagen.
De ruimtevaartorganisatie noemt de missie - feitelijk een vliegend object vol slimme meetinstrumenten - interessant omdat mijnbouwexpedities in de verre toekomst financieel aantrekkelijk kunnen zijn voor de aarde. Omdat de opbrengst van 16 Psyche zo groot kan zijn, verwacht NASA op termijn zelfs een regelrechte goudkoorts op aarde. “Als er ooit een manier is om er via een futuristische infrastructuur te komen en terug te keren, zullen de mogelijkheden oneindig zijn en zal iedereen er heen willen om absurde rijkdom te vergaderen”, verwacht NASA.

What is certain about the night of Oct. 11, 1973, is this: When Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker Jr. arrived at the sheriff’s department in Pascagoula, Miss., they were frantic. They told authorities they had just been abducted by aliens. Each had a puncture wound in one arm. Police tried to catch them in a lie, but it didn’t work. Both men later passed polygraph tests.
On Saturday, the riverbank where the men said the close encounter happened got a historical marker, calling it one of the “best documented” cases of alien abduction. After decades of avoiding media attention, Parker was there for the dedication. Hickson died in 2011.

In 1973, Hickson was Parker’s foreman at a shipyard. The two had gone fishing after work at an abandoned boat launch and were still there after the sun went down.
“I was just getting ready to get some more bait,” Hickson told The Washington Post in 1975, “when I heard a kind of zipping sound. I looked up and saw a blue flashing light. Calvin turned around too. We saw a 30-foot-long object with a little dome on top.”
As it hovered just above the ground, three small creatures emerged, also hovering, he said. The men were suddenly paralyzed. The creatures grabbed them with pincer-type claws and pulled them toward the object, he said.
Hickson said they were subjected to a physical examination by something that looked like a “big eye,” a constant mechanical sound buzzing the whole time.
And then, they were dropped off, right back in the dark delta where they started. Hickson found Parker standing up, arms raised to the sky and screaming, he told The Post. They ran for help.
At first, sheriff’s investigators thought the men had been drunk. Or lying. After interviewing the men, they left the room with a recorder secretly taping, hoping to catch the pair dropping the act once they left.
But they didn’t. They kept on talking about what they had seen and how scared they were.
“We did everything we knew to try to break their stories,” Jackson County Sheriff’s Capt. Glen Ryder told The Post in 1975. “If they were lying to me, they should be in Hollywood.”
Overnight, it was national news. There were news conferences and cameras thrust in their still-stunned faces. A “UFO investigator” from Northwestern University flew down and said their story checked out. Skeptics called them liars, or said Hickson had an episode of sleep paralysis with hypnagogic hallucinations, while Parker was “highly suggestible.” Believers flooded into Pascagoula by the thousands, wrapped in aluminum foil and sitting all night on the hoods of their cars, waiting for visitors from another world.
Hickson was 42 at the time, and was well-known in the community, so perhaps he felt more able to handle the media crush. He recounted the experience to anyone who would listen. He went on Johnny Carson and Dick Cavett. He published a book in 1983.
Parker, on the other hand, was 18 or 19 when it happened. He had just arrived in Pascagoula from an even smaller town and had planned to earn some extra money before returning home to get married. He told the media he had passed out at the beginning of the whole affair and couldn’t remember what happened.

That was the only lie he told, he said to the Sun Herald in 2018. In fact, he did remember what happened, and was so afraid that aliens had infected him with something that when he got home from the sheriff’s department he took a bath in bleach. Within a few weeks, he skipped town. He got married and picked up work in oil fields. If someone at a job recognized him, he would quit.
If Hickson was trying to get rich from the story, it didn’t work. Parker told the Sun Herald that before Hickson’s death in 2011, he occasionally paid the older man’s electric bill.
Parker, now in his 60s, slowly came out of hiding in recent years, and in 2018, published a book of his own.
In March, as the city was discussing plans for the marker, new witnesses emerged, telling the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger that on the night in question, they saw an unidentified flying object with flashing blue lights going up and down the Pascagoula River. They said they kept it secret all these years because they were afraid of people’s reactions.
One of them, Maria Blair, told the Clarion-Ledger: “The story is very true. That’s what has bothered me for 45 years. It’s been on my mind for 45 years.”

Everyone knows the first line of the English fairy tale, “Fee Fi Fo Fum.”
But how many know the rest of the verse, which gets a little dark:
“I smell the blood of an Englishman/ Be he alive, or be he dead/ I'll grind his bones to make my bread.”
What the hell kind of bedtime story is that?
Actually, it derives from the early 18th century tale of Jack and a cannibalistic giant called “Jack the Giant Killer.” The origins of that can be traced through oral histories to prehistoric England, when giants may have roamed not just the UK, but the Earth.
The 16th century scribe, Raphael Holinshed, wrote in “Chronicles of England, Scotland and Ireland,” that Britain’s oldest acknowledged name was taken from a prehistoric king named Albion, who ruled a race of giants that dominated the UK for hundreds, possibly thousands of years B.C.

The Bible is filled with stories of Middle Eastern giants, including the Nephilim tribe that spawned the Amorites, Emim and Anakim, who the Sumerians called the Annunaki.
Marco Polo wrote of encountering giants in Zanzibar who were “so strong they can carry as many as four ordinary men.” Mid-20th century journalist Glenn D. Kittler said of the Watusi tribe east of the Congo, “Men towering 7 or 8 feet are a common sight.”
Reputable accounts of giants come from all over the world, says Hugh Newman, co-author with Jim Vieira of “Giants On Record: America’s Hidden History, Secrets in the Mounds and the Smithsonian Files." An extinct, genetically distinct subspecies of Homo sapienswas discovered just a decade ago in a Denisova Cave in Siberia. Called the Denisovans, they lived from 50,000 to 300,000 years ago and “are known to be very, very tall,” says Newman. And their descendants could have wandered as far west as North America.
Newman, who is described on ancient-origins.net as a world explorer, megalithomaniac and author, will talk about the Nephilim, the Denisovans and giants in general Friday in a lecture titled “Giantology: Scientific Evidence For A Worldwide Culture Of Giants in Prehistory” at the annual Contact in the Desert conference in Indian Wells.
The conference runs May 30-June 3 with field trips, talks and workshops on UFOs, ancient aliens, forbidden archaeology and more.

He gave the long and short of giantology in a recent telephone interview from England.
THE DESERT SUN: So, when did giants roam the earth?
NEWMAN: We’re looking at different eras, really. In North America, we’ve got dating that goes back around 10,000 years, right up to the 1900s when giants have been witnessed. It’s quite a large range, but generally, it’s anywhere from around 1000 B.C. to around 900 A.D.
How tall are we talking?
Anywhere between 7-foot – that’s the lower limit of what we call a giant. We have one account of up to 18 feet, but we don’t think that’s for real. Probably about 14 foot.
Would you call the giants a different species of Homo sapiens? In other words, if you did a 23 and Me test of DNA, could you find evidence of giants that could distinguish them from other ancestors?
Not really, no. There is one (piece of evidence) we get. We have elements of up to 3 or 4 percent of Denisovan DNA within some tribes in the northern areas of North America, some of the Algonquin-speaking tribes. So, it’s thought that maybe these tall ancestors came into the Americas a very long time ago.
So, you’re saying the giants weren’t different from ancient humans, just taller?
I believe so, yeah. But we don’t really know because we can’t get access to (many) bones or DNA because of the NAGPRA Act – the Native American Grave Protection and Repatriation Act (requiring institutions that receive federal funding to return Native American cultural items to their descendants). Since 1990, it’s been almost impossible to gain access to anything to do tests. It’s one of the reasons we call the book, “Giants On Record” because we had to use the records as the evidence rather than the bones, even though we have many, many academics who actually dug them up and reported them. I personally don’t think they’re alien-human hybrids or anything like that, but, if you look into the legends and oral traditions of the Native Americans, you’ll find accounts of them interbreeding with the star people – people from the sky. There are stories within some of the same tribes that ended up being giants. So, it is quite strange.
Where did most of the giants roam this continent?
Most of the accounts in North America have to do with the mound culture (in which North American communities over a 5,000-year period built earthen mounds for ceremonial and elite residential purposes), based around the Ohio Valley, down the Mississippi (River) and splitting into different parts of the country. Whether they’re the Adenas, who are the earliest (from 500 B.C.E to 100 A.D. in southern Ohio), or the Hopewell (known as the Mound Builders, from 200-500 B.C.) or the Fort Ancient (who built the Alligator and Serpent mounds in Southern Ohio, 1000-1750 A.D.), we have mound culture sites going back to 4,000 B.C. And we have very early evidence of giants in the Southwest that have nothing to do with mounds. We have red-haired mummies found in Lovelock Cave in Nevada (discovered in 1911 and corresponding to Paiute oral history about a tribe of giant cannibals). Also down that way you have the Spirit Cave Mummy (discovered in 1940 east of Fallon, Nevada and linked by DNA to the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone tribe), which is known to be 9,000 or 10,000 years old. So, perhaps these skeletons are that old. Ross Hamilton, who we call the godfather of giantology, was in touch with Vine DeLoria Jr., a Native American scholar and activist, and Vine DeLoria Jr. had access to all these elders who shared their stories going far back … 12,000 to 13,000 years ago. There are stories of mammoths hanging out with giant humans. In fact, one of the stories we feature from Vine DeLoria Jr. is that they herd mammoths like we herd cattle.
There’s a guy who I believe found evidence of giants in Peru. (Brien Foerster, giving a workshop on “Peruvian Elongated Skull People: Human Subspecies or Hybrids?” at 2 p.m. Sunday). Do you know who I’m talking about?
They found these giant long skulls, but they’re not giants. I’ve seen them. They’re standard-sized humans but their skulls are very long. It’s mainly cranial deformation. We have accounts of actual giants being found in South America as well.
There are also stories of the Anunnaki in Southern Africa. (Michael Tellinger will discuss “Vanished Civilizations of Southern Africa: Gold Mining Empire of the Anunnaki — Fossils Of Giants and Extinct Creatures” at 2:30 p.m. Saturday). They were supposed to be giants, too, right?
The Anunnaki actually come from the area of the Bible lands. So, you’re talking about Biblical traditions. There also were the Watchers (described in the Book of Enoch as angels who lived among humans before The Flood) and they were said to be giants. They later gave birth with human females to the Nephilim, who were the well-known giants a lot of people talk about. (Genesis 6:4). There’s not too much evidence of them in south Africa. They may have gone down to south Africa to mine for gold and minerals, and there is evidence down there of giant human beings. The interesting thing about that area is we have a tribe of humans that goes back at least 200,000 years called Homoheidelbergensis. These were known to routinely be over 7 feet tall, and this was reported by Prof. Lee Berger. Also, there was a gentleman called Prof. Francis Thackeray, who had a fossilized bone that was found in South Africa (from) someone who was twice the height of a human being. Homo Heidelbergensis are the early ancestors of the Denisovans, who have emerged more recently from the Altai mountains or Denisova Cave in Siberia. This is really big news at the moment. They found these thick skull fragments and large finger bones and very advanced bracelets, jewelry technology, at least 40,000 years old. The suggestion is they spread from the Denisovans (to) North America and other places. So, there’s a sequence here.

You must have a million questions about giants. What do you want to learn most?
Well, there are a couple of things. One is, why is this important chapter in human history being completely and utterly covered up? The other question is, if you look around the world, there’s always a connection between megalithic construction, mound culture-type sites and the giants. That was part of their traditions: building these sites. At Contact in the Desert, I talk about these two things specifically. If you go back to the time of the Bible, and the Anunnaki and the Watchers and the Nephilim, we have stories that recount that they were obsessive megalith builders and stone masons and metallurgists. There is so much mythology about this subject in folklore and oral traditions, and now there is evidence actually emerging that this is actually, genuinely a thing. We have 1,500 newspaper accounts in North America of giant bones and skeletons being unearthed. We have 17 accounts of 7- to 8-foot giants in the Smithsonian’s own scientific annual reports. The Maryland Academy of Science is talking about 9-foot giants. We have universities in Texas finding 36-inch circumference skulls and so on. There’s too much data to ignore that this is reality and the people who try to tell us that this is all sensational newspaper stories or exaggerated measurements are completely wrong.
It seems like giants are always associated with the bad guys. How did that happen? Was it because of Goliath?
It could be. But also a lot of British stories — Gogmagog (last of the Albion giants) and Jack the Giant Slayer — talk about these man-eating cannibalistic giants. You also have cannibalism linked to giants in tons of myths in North America. There were Native American tribes who had to protect themselves from these marauding cannabilistic savage giant tribes.
How did these tribes of giants die out?
They just got bred out of existence, I think. I don’t really know why or how. In North America, the people that lived on that continent before the Europeans arrived were decimated by small pox. Interbreeding and lifestyle changes (have contributed).
You must get a lot of skepticism about this. How do you deal with skeptic people?
We don’t worry about them too much. They always say, “Where are the bones?” We say, “The academics took them away.” I suggest they go and talk to the Smithsonian.

“Er is bewijs dat daar reuzen zijn geweest,” zei hij. “Interessant genoeg leefde daar zo’n 200.000 jaar geleden een soort die Homo heidelbergensis wordt genoemd.”
Doofpot
Hij wees erop dat ene professor Francis Thackeray in Zuid-Afrika een gefossiliseerd bot had opgegraven van een soort die twee keer zo lang was dan een normaal mens.
Newman wil weten waarom alles wat te maken heeft met reuzen in de doofpot wordt gestopt.
Hij heeft ruim 1500 krantenartikelen verzameld die gaan over reuzenskeletten in Noord-Amerika.
17 verwijzingen
In de jaarverslagen van het Smithsonian heeft Newman naar eigen zeggen 17 verwijzingen naar reuzen gevonden.

Since then, UFOs have captured the minds of old and young alike, and witness’ stories have proliferated around the world.
World UFO Day serves as a way for everyone to come together and watch the skies on the same night in search of UFOs, but that’s not its only purpose. Many see the holiday as a way to spread knowledge and awareness of UFOs, making a case for their existence, and hoping to make disciples out of the dubious. So why July 2? WorldUFODay.com seems to be the home of all things World UFO Day. The idea to hold it on July 2nd was inspired by the Roswell Incident which occurred on July 2, 1947, although in its early days (the first celebration was coincidentally in 2001) the holiday was also celebrated on June 24, the anniversary of day also in 1947 that pilot Kenneth Arnold claimed to have seen nine UFOs flying in a formation near Mount Rainier, Washington — making it the first big UFO event in the US. WorldUFODay.com promotes the July 2nd date with an event map, poster and tips on how to celebrate, although it doesn’t appear to have been updated lately.
Based on this compilation, the state where you don’t want to be on World UFO Day is … Texas! The Lone Star State has 4969 sightings but its area-to-population ratio puts it at the bottom. Neighboring Louisiana is 49th (and that probably includes a few questionable Mardi Gras sightings), followed by Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama. Why don’t UFOs like the Deep South? That’s a question for ufologists, sociologists, space scientists and tourism bureaus. Let’s look at where you should be on July 2nd to see a UFO.
The number one UFO hot state in the US is … not New Mexico! Sorry Roswell fans. In fact, they may want to consider changing the date to June 24 because the US state with the best chance of seeing a UFO is Washington – home of the Kenneth Arnold sighting. Number two is the aptly-named Big Sky Country of Montana, followed by Vermont (Vermont?), Alaska and Maine. The listing doesn’t give any details on sightings – it’s just a summary but a good place for starting discussions and arguments. What about this UFO aversion to southern states? Or why is Vermont so popular? Do extraterrestrials like maple syrup on their food capsules? Of course, the most interesting question about Washington might be if there’s a connection to the state’s Bigfoot sightings – where a different study found Washington also at Number 1.

People often ask me why I think that the creatures of Loch Ness, Scotland are supernatural in nature, rather than being flesh and blood animals. Well, the primary reason is because the loch is – and has been for centuries – an absolute magnet for paranormal activity. The real story of the Loch Ness Monster is very different to the one presented by countless cryptozoologists and monster-hunters over the years and decades. It’s also a story that many of those same cryptozoologists and monster-hunters have clearly ignored. Or, perhaps, even deliberately suppressed. That is evidenced by the fact that the supernatural data is out there, to be seen by one and all, yet it has barely been touched upon at length or discussed in the vast majority of Nessie-themed books. The reason why it has been ignored is abundantly obvious: mainstream cryptozoology does not wish to see the down to earth theories challenged by the world of the paranormal. I understand that cherished beliefs suggesting the Nessies are plesiosaurs are important to many. However, ignoring key data will not help solve the mystery. In reality, such an approach will have the polar opposite effect: it will stifle research and push it down the wrong road.
Time and again, we have seen the monsters of Loch Ness tied to the domain of the supernatural. No less than the very first recorded sighting – the 6th century affair of St. Columba – was steeped in strange phenomena. The monster’s deadly games were reeled in by the saint, who called upon the power of the Christian god to try and rein-in the creature. More than a thousand years later the monster was still plaguing the people of Loch Ness. That much is made clear by the tales of the kelpies of Loch Ness. It’s important to note that not a solitary soul believed them to have been regular, albeit unknown, animals. Indeed, the unanimous conclusion was that the kelpies were deadly, paranormal monsters that had the ability to alter their physical appearances. Such theories, and fears, extended right up until the final years of the 19th century – and made a resurgence years later, largely thanks to the work of monster investigator Ted Holiday. And still on the issue of the final years of the 1800s, there is the not insignificant fact that none other than the “Great Beast” Aleister Crowley lived at Loch Ness’ Boleskine House. That Crowley – deliberately, inadvertently, or a bit of both – conjured up infernal, supernatural entities and helped create an air of malignant menace at the loch, cannot be denied and cannot be without relevance.
Something else which cannot be denied is the fact that when the term “Loch Ness Monster” was created in the 1930s, it prompted a multitude of reports that described the Nessies in wildly varying ways. Arthur Grant encountered a monster with distinct flippers and a long neck. Hugh Gray’s famous photo shows a creature that pretty much lacks any kind of neck; as for its head it’s beak-like. Lieutenant McP Fordyce’s monster had long legs (rather than flippers), walked on the land, and was somewhat hairy, rather than dark and serpent-like. Add to that the tusked and frog-like Nessies of earlier years and what we have is a modern incarnation of the old kelpie – a creature that could morph into multiple forms. The implication is obvious: the kelpies of old never really went away. They were merely upgraded for new generations and given a new name: Nessie.
The highly bizarre, and downright sinister, situations into which ill-fated Nessie-seeker Ted Holiday found himself plunged are further evidence of the supernatural forces that lurk and manipulate at Loch Ness. Men in Black, strange synchronicities, a mysterious and deadly dragon cult, the Reverend Donald Omand’s exorcism of the Nessies, repeated encounters near creepy old Urquhart Castle, and Holiday’s very own unrelenting descent into a word filled with magic, mysticism, and the occult all make that clear. Even monster pursuer Tim Dinsdale – hardly publicly known for having beliefs in the supernatural nature of the monsters – admitted to having crossed paths with certain, paranormal aspects of the Nessie mystery. And then there’s the matter of UFOs.
In the summer of 2015, the controversy of the Loch Ness Monster was taken to a new height – as in literally. That was when the mystery was yet again linked to the matter of high-flying UFOs. The three key players in the story were Alan Betts and his wife, Anna, and Anna’s mother, Tatiana. The family, from the English city of York, were holidaying in Scotland. It was April 2015, and the three were staying at a cottage near Urquhart Castle. While at the loch, and as is the case for practically everyone who visits the loch, they took a good number of photos. It wasn’t until the Betts returned home, however, that they realized just how weird one of their vacation pictures was. Taken by Tatiana, it appeared to show a pair of anomalous objects in the sky, right over Loch Ness. As if Nessie wasn’t enough of a mystery on its own.
Alan – the director of a refrigerating company – said when the story hit the headlines two months later that the timing of their vacation was fortuitous. The weather was pretty much perfect: that’s to say it was bright and sunny for almost the entire time. However, on one particular day, and after the Betts spent hours of checking out the area, things changed. The sunny weather was suddenly gone and everything quickly became dark and gloomy and the rain poured in definitive deluge style. Tatiana decided to take a photo of the moody skies – something which proved to be crucial to the story. It was only after the family got back home, and downloaded their holiday pictures onto their PC, that they noticed something odd on that particular photo. It was a pair of brightly lit objects that appeared to be flying over Loch Ness, but which weren’t seen at the time Tatiana took the picture. Alan was a self-confessed skeptic, but admitted that he was at a loss to explain what the camera had captured. Interestingly, Alan added: “Our Akita dog, Yuka, was strangely unsettled that night.”
Anna, when approached by the Huffington Post for comment on the growing controversy surrounding the photo, said: “We can say 100 percent that the camera was perfectly fine. It was raining very heavily, there were no lights in the house to resemble the objects in any shape or form.” Some commentators suspected that the entire matter could be explained away via light reflection. Both Anna and Alan felt that such an explanation was unlikely, noting that no lights were on when the picture was taken. And, at the time of writing, that’s pretty much where things stand today. The Betts are sure they photographed something unusual, while the skeptics are positive the case can be explained in wholly rational terms.
Put all of the above together and what you get – as I see it, anyway – is a strange place and its stranger creatures, and all tied to the world of the paranormal.
On Earth, butane is a gas used in lighters and camping stoves (it’s a liquid under pressure) while acetylene is a gas most often used in welding because of the high temperature of its flame. On Titan, Saturn’s largest moon that is actually larger than the planet Mercury, the temperature is so cold that these two chemical compounds freeze together to form ‘alien’ crystals that can’t form in nature on Earth. Scientists recently created these alien crystals in a lab and think they may be what forms the mysterious rings around liquid lakes on the surface of Titan. Do bathtubs on Titan have them too?
One of the things that attracts kids to science is the appeal of mixing substances together and seeing what happens … while wearing protective gear and under adult supervision, of course. (Yeah, right.) That appeal never goes away – it’s the way scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory discovered the alien crystals. According to their paper presented this week at the 2019 Astrobiological Science Conference in Seattle, Washington, the researchers built a mini Titan in a cryostat, a container used to maintain low cryogenic temperatures. To chill things off, they first filled the crystat with liquid nitrogen, every scientist’s favorite form of entertainment. After freezing flowers and making ice cream, they raised the temperature enough to turn the nitrogen into gas, thus creating a Titan atmosphere in the cryostat.

Then it was time for mixing up stuff. Based on atmospheric and surface data from Cassini–Huygens flybys and landing, they tossed in methane, ethane, acetylene, butane and other carbon-containing molecules. The first things to form were benzene crystals – nothing unusual there. But then the ethane molecules combined with the benzene to form benzene-ethane co-crystals that don’t naturally exist on Earth. Following that came the next alien co-crystals – a combination of acetylene and butane that’s also unheard of in nature.

Is this a big deal? Well, it got the JPL scientists excited, as mixing things to see what happens usually does. Is it big enough to inspire governments to budget future space missions to Titan? That’s a tough one. A robotic mission to the surface would confirm that Titan’s lakes are a liquid hydrocarbon soup and that what look like bathtub rings around their edges are made of these or other kinds of alien crystals that form as the lake evaporates and the gases combine in new ways with the liquids. Does it mean there could be life on Titan? No, and that’s the holy grail of space funding as missions to nearby space bodies seem to be implicitly apocalyptic as they search for signs that either there’s life already there or they have the elements for sustaining human life and colonization.
The alien crystals are Interesting, but the days of exploring space for the sake of pure exploration are not here yet.
The island of Puerto Rico is home to a number of different religions, one of them being Santeria– which is also practiced throughout much of the rest of the Caribbean. Its origins, however, can be found in the traditions of the Yoruba people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, West Africa. While those that adhere to the teachings of Santeria believe in the existence of one, overall god, they also believe there are numerous sub-gods too, which are collectively known as the Orishas. Those that are initiated into the religion – and which are known as Santeros – are required to go through a week-long process of purification, one which involves the application of both herbs and water to carefully and completely cleanse the body. Not only that, a great deal of time and effort is expended by the Santeros when it comes to the appeasement of their many and varied sub-deities. One way in which this has been achieved (but far less so today) is by animal sacrifice – and, specifically, the killing of chickens and goats, which – allegedly – just happen to be the most favored delicacies of the Puerto Rican “vampire.”
In November 1992, three years before the chupacabra phenomenon took off big-time, a major controversy of legal proportions surfaced in Florida, where Santeria has a significantly-sized following. It’s a following dominated by the Church of Lukumi Babalu Aye, which was created in 1974. As a result, the city of Hialeah – situated in Miami-Dade County – passed a law banning the practice of animal sacrifice. In 1992, this law was challenged by the church, in the Supreme Court, no less. Anargument was made to the effect that preventing the followers of Santeria from carrying out a prime aspect of their traditions was unconstitutional. On June 11, 1993, the church won the case.
In mid-2007, I was once again on the island with which I have so much affinity. I decided that I would spend the four days at my disposal trying to get to the heart of the claims that at least some tales of the chupacabra, and its deadly attacks on livestock, might be the concoctions of groups that engaged in sacrificial activity. Since such rumors existed, they had, at least, to be addressed. Santeria has a long history on Puerto Rico: it took much of its inspiration from Nigerian slaves shipped over to the island in the 18th century. As for the matter of animal sacrifice, this was typically carried out by a Santero who was well-versed in the many and varied intricacies of the religion. The reasons for such sacrifices were numerous and included a desire for physical well-being, riches, and good fortune. Just like each and every paranormal pact, this one came at a price: money, of course.
A Santero would rub the skin of a paying client with the body of the animal that was to be imminently sacrificed. Doing so, the followers of Santeria believed, transferred whatever ailed the person – or whatever they desire – into the body of the animal. The sacrificing of the animal was an act designed to ensure the wish reaches the Orishas, who granted them whatever it was that the person in question required. Sometimes, the corpse of the animal was destroyed; on other occasions it was eaten. As for the blood, it was served in a large vessel that is then offered to the gods.
Since Santeria has a large and acknowledged following on Puerto Rico (although, it’s important to note that the sacrificial angle, today, is largely symbolic rather than literal) it’s most unlikely that its adherents would need to pass any sacrifices off as attacks undertaken by the chupacabra. There is, however, another group, allegedly, on Puerto Rico that might find it to its advantage to do exactly that. Santeria has an offshoot known variously as Mayombe, Palo, or Palo Mayombe, but which, for the sake of ease, I will refer to as Palo. Its rituals – of supposedly being able to grant wealth, health and power – are essentially identical to those of regular Santeria.
While on Puerto Rico in May 2007 I was able to hook up with a man named Sal, who told me a profoundly disturbing story. It was around 7:00 p.m. on a bustling, hot, Friday evening and we were hanging out in a run-down, darkened bar in Old San Juan’s La Perla district. Sal, thirty-something, worked in a local restaurant. As I sat and listened, he told me a number of stories that had come to him, second-hand, by what he described as a friend in the meat trade. Admittedly, I wasn’t altogether happy about relying on a story that came from a friend of a friend (and, maybe, of yet another friend, too), but in this case, I really had no choice. Sal said there existed on Puerto Rico what can only be described as a rogue form of religion, one that practiced highly controversial rituals. The group, he added, was one that pretty much no-one knew about or was linked to. Unless, that is, you were a part of it. The rituals of the group typically revolved around the sacrifice of chickens, goats and peacocks. According to Sal, the group began its deadly activities in late 1994, or maybe early 1995, and was focused on providing a unique service, in return for a great deal of money: a guarantee of power and wealth.
Sal said that many of the people were nothing less than major, household names: famous actors, politicians, musicians, authors, and even – he claimed – certain figures in the world of royalty. Some of the rituals, Sal said, were held in a large and spacious house, one that was owned by a rich and influential figure in the equally rich and influential area of Condado, which is situated in Santurce, a district of San Juan. Other rituals were supposedly undertaken, in somewhat dicey fashion, deep in the heart of the El Yunque rain forest. As well as sacrifices and the dishing up of dead bodies to ancient deities, wild, alcohol- and cocaine-fueled orgies were the name of the game, too. It all reminded me of something straight out of the Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman movie of 1999, Eyes Wide Shut. I distinctly remember thinking at the time: I sincerely hope Sal hasn’t made all this up after seeing, and getting over-excited by, the movie.
As for the chupacabra connection to the story, Sal claimed that while the group was not responsible, per se, for creating the legend of the beast, the members most definitely exploited it to their great advantage and to the absolute hilt. By that, he meant – and particularly in relation to the events in El Yunque – when the group was busy killing chickens and goats in the rain forest, and then draining their blood and offering it up to the gods, it made a great deal of sense for them to spread tales of a chupacabra or several on the loose. By doing so, their controversial actions remained buried under a mass of tales of an animal-killing, blood-drinking creature that might not actually exist – or that actually might. Could Sal help me to track down the group? Nope. Could he give me its name? Not a chance. Was there anything else he could tell me? Not a thing. It was very much just a case of: here’s what I know; take it or leave it. I decided, on balance, to choose the former – to the extent that I could. Sal’s story proved nothing. It did, however, strongly suggest to me that the truth behind the chupacabra legend was far more complex and confusing than most observers of the phenomenon had ever realized.
National Geographic Photographer: “I Saw Hyper-Advanced Aquatic Alien Creatures In the Ocean”
Lu Lamar, the underwater Director of Photography for OceanX and National Geographic, made an odd claim in a video clip of OceanX.
The YouTube clip was posted by OceanX on June 15. In this short clip he states the following:
“I think, in the ocean, I have come across potentially beings from another heavenly body that are more highly advanced than humans.”
Lamar is a respected photographer with a lot of experience documenting oceanic wildlife in the deepest parts of our oceans.
This is a very interesting claim, it would prove that besides USOs and alien underwater bases, intelligent life is indeed present in the depths of our oceans.
Strange Signals Coming From Space Are Not From Our Satellites
The signal amplitude of 0.75 Janskys is very weak, just strong enough to be stronger than the background of space, Sereda continued, noting energy signatures from satellites are much stronger. “There’s no way a local Russian satellite would produce a signal that weak… forget about the idea that this is a satellite,” he reiterated.
Sereda referenced an experiment in which a compressed laser pulse traveled 300 times faster than light and required very little energy to accomplish the feat.
Sereda suggested the signal from space could have been sent in such a way, which would remove the enormous energy burden required to blast a signal in all directions from a system so far from our planet.
I was checking out the sun at the SOHO/NASA site called helioviewer and noticed a triangle UFO that was in close orbit around our sun. The sun was rotating, but he black triangle craft remained in place. The object was colder than the sun, otherwise the UFO would also be the same color as the sun.
About 15 years ago I read an article in the news that was about two Russian scientists that recorded UFOs flying around our sun. These UFOs they said, were often as big as our moon and made hard right angle changes of direction. They also would decrease and increase speed for no apparent reason. They said they believed the UFOs were gathering a certain rare particle created by the sun. The story soon disappeared and so did the scientists. But I remember it, so I keep looking and yesterday found this. 100% proof that those scientists were correct.

This video was shot last week of an alien short thin figure caught on ten seconds of infrared video cam. The person is seen opening the door and walking away. This leads me to believe that it could be her own son sleepwalking wearing a hat, however if it was her son, wouldn't she have video of him coming back home? Without video of him coming back, there is no proof its her 9 year old son sleepwalking. Its sad the video only records 10 seconds at a time. Otherwise we might have some answers to this. It does have a lot of alien features to it, for instance the hands wrist area seems to be higher, making the hands much longer...1.5X longer than they should be. This cannot be explained. Strange indeed.

In het afgelopen half jaar is er in Limburg 41 keer melding gemaakt van een UFO. Dat laat het UFO Meldpunt Nederland zien, schrijft 1Limburg.
In vergelijking met vorig jaar zijn er drie keer zoveel UFO’s gemeld, blijkt uit een overzicht van het meldpunt.
De stijging heeft onder andere te maken met de satellieten die Elon Musk afgelopen maand de ruimte instuurde om overal ter wereld snel internet te kunnen leveren.
Geen verklaring
In totaal 23 meldingen konden worden gelinkt aan deze zogeheten Starlink-satellieten, die voor de nodige consternatie zorgden.
Veel mensen maakten melding van een ‘rechte streep met lichtpunten’.
Voor andere UFO-meldingen is nog altijd geen verklaring gevonden. Zo werd er in Gronsveld een ‘vuurbal’ gezien die verticaal opsteeg en met knipperende lichtjes wegvloog.

‘Nastassja’ schreef op 20 juni over deze grote oranje bol: “Het was erg enerverend omdat ik het niet kon plaatsen. Ik zag er twee opstijgen en wegvliegen. Ze vlogen rustig en bijna geluidloos.”
Nabij Munstergeleen werden daarnaast twee piramideachtige objecten waargenomen.

‘Srjaar’ schreef hierover op 6 mei op de website van het meldpunt: “Ik zag ze voor 3 seconden, en eentje was gekanteld, de ander omgekeerd toen ze wegvlogen.”
“Het waren voorwerpen die zich tegen de donkere hemel aftekenden dus dit is op zichzelf al moeilijk te zien,” klonk het. “Beslist geen drone of vliegtuig.”
