Anyone with interest in the search for intelligent life in the universe has undoubtedly heard of the Fermi paradox – the dilemma described by physicist Enrico Fermi after pondering the existence of billions of stars with billions of planets capable of sustaining intelligent life, some far superior to us that could travel across space. If that’s true, why haven’t we encountered any of them? Recently, another scientist pondered the Red Sky paradox. What? You’ve never heard of the Red Sky paradox?

“Red dwarf stars are the most numerous and long-lived stars in the cosmos, and recent exoplanet discoveries indicate an abundance of rocky, temperate planets around them. This presents an apparent paradox as to why we do not see a red dwarf in our sky.”

Would it look like this?

If red dwarfs are the most abundant stars in the universe, with the most rocky planets seemingly capable of supporting life orbiting them, why isn’t the only planet with life that we are aware of orbiting one too? That is the question pondered in a new study, published this week in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, by David Kipping, an astronomy professor at Columbia University. Is our life on a planet orbiting a yellow-leaning-towards-white dwarf a fluke or is the theory that more red dwarfs means more life around them wrong?

“It’s just a question that has always perplexed me. If they’re so numerous, so long-lived, potentially trillions of years, and so they really seem to have everything going for them … it’s kind of odd then that we don’t live around a red dwarf.”

In an interview with Inverse, Kipping sounds a little like Fermi as he explains why he set up a team to ponder the Red Sky paradox and attempt to resolve it. They came up with three scenarios – 1) human life orbiting a yellow star is an exception; 2) something in the development of red dwarfs stops life from developing; 3) red dwarfs develop too slowly for life to happen. The first possibility runs into the Copernican principle – named for Nicolaus Copernicus and his hypothesis that Earth is not the center of the universe and instead is nothing special – which would make Earth a special exception in the universe.

Is it just me or is it getting hot here?

Instead, the team thinks red dwarfs are causing their own problems that kill their chances for spawning life. The ones with exoplanets we’ve been able to study (like Proxima Centauri and its two known planets) have frequent planet-toasting flareups that would cook life before it could escape. If the flares miss, the planets are generally in tidally-locked orbits — one side always faces the red dwarf, a position also not conducive to life. Finally, that abundance of rocky planets is pelted by life-killing asteroids because there are no giant gas planets like Jupiter to pull them into its own orbit.

Not only does Kipping’s theory seem to solve the Red Sky paradox, it does a good job on the Fermi paradox as well. If red dwarfs, which are the majority of stars, can’t spawn or support life, then the probability of life on the universe goes down dramatically. In other words, they’re not here because they’re not there either.

This paper was released just in time for the Pentagon UFO report. It didn’t find any aliens either. Would Fermi agree? Copernicus?

At first glance, the 2006 court case carried out by the Santa Barbara County district attorney’s office in Santa Barbara, California, looks pretty mundane, for some boring even. It involved an action against the Greka Energy Corp., which is the county’s largest land-based oil and gas producer, for alleged health-and-safety violations at its refinery operations, as well as numerous environmental violations. While most of the counts in the lawsuit were eventually settled for $600,000, some stubbornly remained, and one of the key witnesses brought in was a former public safety officer with the company by the name of Gary Lowrey, who alleged that he had on numerous occasions pointed out safety violations that were ignored by his bosses. So far it just sounds like a dull, legal slog involving a big oil company and environmental concerns and safety protocols, more yawn inducing than anything else, but the eyebrows do pop up a bit when it gets to the part where Lowrey starts talking about horned aliens in his closet and visitations by alien forces terrorizing his family.

During the trial, Lowrey began to come out with some rather outlandish claims, to say the least. The claims were not made directly to the DA’s office, but were rather uncovered online, where it seems Lowrey was claiming that aliens had been regularly trespassing into his home and holding his family, his wife and kids, under siege. Lowrey claimed that bizarre horned, alien-like, vaguely insectoid entities were emerging from his closet at night to poke him and his family with needles as they slept, after which they would awaken with needle holes on their bodies,  often forming diamond-shaped patterns.  He himself stops short of labeling them as “aliens,” but is quick to point out that they are definitely not human. He would say of this to a Greka attorney, who was rather strangely none other than Bela G. Lugosi, son of the actor best known for playing Count Dracula:

They were bothering me. I don’t think I said they terrorized me. But I said they were bothering me. You can see his little eyes looking at you, and the horns and the eyebrow. I’m not sure that they’re — you know, that you’d call them aliens. I know they’re not human-looking. I don’t remember a lot of it because, you know, you’re asleep when it’s happening to you.

But don’t just take his word for it, as Lowrey would claim to have plenty of evidence to back his story up. In addition to recording footprints of the beasts with a sheet of aluminum foil that he had laid out, he also claimed to have found a claw from one of the creatures hanging from a towel in his closet, and even claimed to have captured video footage of them. This footage was seen by Deputy District Attorney Jerry Lulejian, who found it to be very compelling. After seeing the tapes, Lulejian would make a statement saying:

I’m going to argue in court that there is something going on in these videos that substantiates what Gary Lowrey is talking about. But I can’t tell you what that is. I can’t give away the juicy part. There are things that look really, really strange. It sort of put the hair on the back of my neck up when I saw them. He’s shown me he’s rational, he’s shown me that there are things going on outside of him, and he’s shown me proof that they’re there. Everything he’s said in his deposition so far checked to be true based on what he’s said in his – or what I’ve seen on the videos and what’s in the reports.

Images from the videos would eventually be released, but they are rather underwhelming, showing what may, kind of sort of look like a misshapen head if you squint your eyes. As to why the picture quality is so bad, one UFO researcher had this to add:

If these beings move between frames, detected on pause, on the camera as he says, they may have a sort of cloaking device, to fool our sense of vision, or their slightly out of phase with our 3-dimensions, as the camera can capture what the un-enhanced eye can’t, but not being seen as continuing motion on the videocam, that is strange. A high-speed infra-red cam plus a night vision cam, and a taser to disable the being, triggered by the cameras would sent about 50,000 volts into whatever, and maybe able to capture it, as it has mass, as exhibited by the indentation of the aluminum foil where fast-walker appeared, in the closet I think he said.

Lowrey also enlisted the help of notable UFO researcher, podiatrist, and expert on alien implants, Dr. Roger Leir, who also believed his story. Amazingly, none of this seemed to disqualify Lowrey as a credible witness in the case against Greka, despite the company seeking to use his stories of aliens as a reason to discredit him and have him booted as a reliable witness in the case. Greka attorney Lugosi would lament the court’s decision to allow Lowery to continue his involvement in the case, saying:

Don’t you find a witness who claims that he’s being visited by aliens at night and getting punctured at night rather a whacky thing to be claiming? Obviously, credibility is important. It’s not every day you have a code enforcement matter which involves aliens in the closet, mysterious claws and a podiatrist who removes alien implants. Here’s their most important witness, and the D.A. is buying into it, saying that none of this affects his credibility. We’re very surprised. Yes, there are people who believe in aliens, but we’re talking about the Santa Barbara district attorney’s office here!

As all of this was going on, Lowrey was becoming a sort of minor celebrity in the UFO field, appearing on the paranormal radio program Coast to Coast AM with host Mike Seigel, but then he began to go silent on his story, according to some because he was being told not to speak of these things, sparking tales of conspiracies going beyond even the court case. Peter A. Gersten, Executive Director of Citizens Against UFO Secrecy, would say of it all:

Several weeks before the Bay Area Expo in August, Gary Lowrey, a Bakersfield Fire Safety Officer, contacted me after numerous failed attempts to get the attention of other well-known organizations and persons in the UFO field. After listening to his story about his ongoing encounters with strange insectoid-type creatures in his home, and based upon his possession of certain physical evidence, I agreed to represent him both as an attorney and also in a joint venture to get the truth out. Though Lowrey was forthcoming in stating that he wants to help his family financially with the information and evidence he possesses, he assured me that his primary motivation is to share his ongoing encounters with the world and hopefully learn some answers as to what he and his family are experiencing. My part of our agreement included my successful efforts to get him national attention through my organization CAUS, my workshop at the Bay Area UFO Expo, and my frequent appearances on Mike Siegel’s Coast to Coast Radio show as well as other projects and forums that were being planned.

After speaking with Lowrey over the course of several weeks, I came to believe that the Bakersfield California family represents one of the best cases of contact because of the confirmatory physical evidence, the believability of the witnesses and the continuous nature of the experiences. Unfortunately because of the greed and selfishness of several people, Lowrey is temporarily silenced and his credibility forever compromised. Last Saturday, give or take a day, Gary Lowrey, after being told by a self-styled “Hollywood producer” that there was no need for him to consult me or any other attorney, signed a contract for the exclusive print and movie rights to his story. According to Lowrey, the contract prohibits him from talking to anyone about his past and present experiences. The producer even deceptively composed an e-mail for Lowrey to send to me in which he states that he can no longer appear on Mike Siegel’s Coast to Coast radio show and if I have any questions I should consult his attorney, Mark Commerford, who I later determine is actually the producer’s attorney and not Lowrey’s. Sadly, though Lowrey appeared with me on the radio show this past Monday night, he refused to talk about his experiences, which he had originally agreed to share before the producer’s gag order. 

What makes the Lowrey debacle even more unpalatable is the fact that the perpetrators of this travesty are members of the UFO community. In fact the producer is none other than Christopher Wyatt, founder, President and CEO of UFO Community.com, a company, which, as evidenced by Wyatt’s callous disregard for both the public’s right to know and the significance of Lowrey’s interaction with other life forms, is quite inappropriately named. Why Wyatt, after signing Lowrey to an exclusive contract, would want to silence him on the eve of his national coming-out-party thereby avoiding a Coast to Coast listening audience of millions and the free promotion inherent in such exposure, is very strange and suspicious. Christopher Wyatt has used the tools of deception, misrepresentation, and coercion to silence an individual who is presently interacting with a non-human form of intelligence. On Siegel’s show, Lowrey stated he was “coerced” by Wyatt into signing the contract. Wyatt has now convinced Lowrey that he has no choice but to honor their contract and that Wyatt will sue him if he shows the contract to me. I am not surprised that there are those within the UFO community who are more interested in money than in our right to know the truth. But to compromise something we all have been waiting years for, the opportunity to record and verify evidence of ongoing contact, is unconscionable and requires exposing the true nature of the beast.

Indeed, during the coming court appearances, Lowrey would freeze up and refuse to mention the aliens again, allowing the whole thing to resolve in mundane fashion. Was he silenced, and if so, by who exactly? What in the world was going on here? What are we to make of all of this? A big court case, a lawyer who is the son of the actor who played Dracula, and aliens? I seems as if it could not possibly get more absurd, and yet this all did happen and is there on the record. It is all a very bizarre case, and certainly adds some spice to the otherwise dry and humdrum business of a court case.

Over the years, controversial claims have been made about a highly-classified facility located in Wiltshire, England:  the U.K.’s Ministry of Defense’s Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL). It is better known as Porton Down. Over the years, claims have been made about a connection between Porton Down and UFOs. Before we get to the matter of UFOs, let’s first take a look at Porton Down. Dr. Robert M. Wood’s book, Alien Viruses states: “Although work at Porton Down had originally begun in March 1916, it was not until 1940 that the installation became the central hub of British interest in biological warfare. Following the start of the Second World War, a highly secret and independent group – the Biology Department, Porton – was established by the War Cabinet, with a mandate to investigate the reality of biological warfare and to develop a means of retaliation in the event that biological warfare was utilized against the United Kingdom. By 1946, the name of the wartime group had become the Microbiological Research Department. A decade later, the biological warfare research of Porton Down’s staff had become solely defensive in nature; and in 1957 it was re-named the Microbiological Research Establishment.”

The BBC say: “Porton Down was set up in 1916. It was a center designed to test chemical and biological weapons. Nerve gases such as Sarin and CS gas were tested on volunteer servicemen. Servicemen were offered around £2 and three days leave as an incentive to take part in tests. Very few servicemen knew what they were volunteering for and some were even told it was research into the cure for the common cold. In 1953 it is alleged that serviceman Ronald Maddison died after taking part in a Sarin gas experiment. In 1962, one of Porton Down’s own scientists, Geoffrey Bacon died of the plague. Since the end of WWII, 20,000 people have taken part in experiments at Porton Down.”

Now, let’s get to the UFO angle of Porton Down. It was in January 2001 that the then-retired – and now late – British Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Hill-Norton, decided to get into the Rendlesham Forest controversy – without doubt the most famous “UFO” event in the U.K. Having had an interest in UFOs for decades, he used his considerable clout to try and figure out what occurred in 1980. It was hardly an easy task for Hill-Norton to achieve. Of specific interest to Hill-Norton were the claims of a Rendlesham  connection to the activities of the Porton Down staff. He wanted to know “whether personnel from Porton Down visited Rendlesham Forest or the area surrounding RAF Watton in December 1980 or January 1981; and whether they are aware of any tests carried out in either of those two areas aimed at assessing any nuclear, biological or chemical hazard.” As time progressed, more and more data surfaced and suggested that the “UFO landing” was really a sophisticated hologram-driven experiment designed to determine the extent to which the military personnel in the forest could have their minds meddled. “Mind-control, in other words.

Berwyn Mountains

Of course, most people in Ufology don’t want to hear one of their most famous cases destroyed. Too bad. Now, let’s jump back to 1974. Andy Roberts states in his book UFO Down!: “In 1958 Gavin Gibbons wrote a children’s science-fiction novel By Space Ship to the Moon,which featured a UFO landing on Moel Sych in the Berwyn Mountains of North Wales. Sixteen years later, in a surreal case of life imitating art, those very same mountains would again be the focus for a story involving a downed UFO. But this time, some said, the story was for real.” Indeed, there have been claims for years of a crashed UFO on the mountains. Not only that, in 1996 an anonymous soldier came forward, claiming to know that the remains of dead aliens were held at Porton Down. Of course, this has not been confirmed. But, we do have the fascinating story of a man named Robert Bolton.”

I first interviewed Bolton by phone, and then met him in person, in Norwich, England, in 2000. He told me: “I spent thirty years in the Royal Air Force as an aircraft engineer. I had various postings, including at Akrotiri in Cyprus, RAF Honnington, and at RAF Valley in North Wales from 1971 to 1974. My wife and her family came from Corwen. At the time that the thing on the Berwyns happened, they lived up on the side of the mountain and her mom still lives there to this day. Corwen is part of the Berwyn range. From where their house is, if you walk up the path that goes behind the houses up and onto the top of the mountains, you’re talking perhaps a mile and a quarter away from where it all occurred; so it’s not very far away at all.

“She still remembers what happened on the night of 23 January. She said to me when I spoke to her about it just recently: ‘I saw aircraft and heard aircraft shot down during the Blitz and it was like an aircraft coming down, but the sound was louder, bigger, heavier that anything you could imagine to do with an aircraft.’ They didn’t know what it was. They heard the noise first of all and ran out into the road. They weren’t the only ones: all their neighbors ran out as well. It got louder and louder and louder and they couldn’t see anything in the sky but then they felt the impact where the houses shook and she had things fall off the mantle-piece in the house.

“It was my wife’s dad, who told me the story about bodies being found on the mountain. His name was Harold Smith. But everyone called him Mick. He had a full-time job with Vauxhall at Elsmere Port; he was a local councilor and was also a part-time Sub-Fire Officer at Corwen. One day we got talking and got on to the subject of UFOs and he said to me: ‘Oh, well, you obviously don’t know about the incident up on the Berwyn Mountains.’ “I first heard the story from him around 1976. At that time he only told me that bodies had been brought down from the mountain and didn’t say anything more. Nothing about who brought them down or where they were taken. But from 1979 to 1982 I was posted to Germany and Mick and my wife’s mother came out to stay for a month and it was here that he told us a lot more.

“I remember that the information that he told us had apparently come from another person in the North Wales Fire Service whose son was in the Army. But it’s not surprising that he would have been told: Mick was a well-respected man and knew people throughout the North Wales Fire Service including at Bala and Wrexham. Mick told me that while the police weren’t involved, the Army was – heavily. I can’t give you an exact date when they visited and he told us this, but it was definitely between 1979 and 1982. He said that there were definitely [trucks] from Porton Down at the scene; that there was a lozenge-shaped object on the mountainside; and that bodies were taken off the mountain and driven to Porton. And to this day, his wife can also confirm that Mick told her the story about Porton Down and bodies too – either in the late 1970s or the early 1980s [italics mine].”

Robert signed off: “I do remember Mick saying that when he had first told me this story in 1976, he didn’t know that it was the Army who had taken the bodies off the mountain and he didn’t know at the time that they’d been taken to Porton Down. So he must have learned that between 1976 and when he came to see us in Germany.” Dead aliens at Porton Down? A Rendlesham Forest connection to Porton Down? All we have right now are rumors. Maybe, things are destined to stay like that. On the other hand, though, just perhaps something incredible might one day surface.

Wetenschappers ontdekten in 1950 voor het eerst resten van dinosaurussen in het gebied. Lange tijd gingen ze ervan uit dat het arctische gebied niet geschikt was voor reptielen. Er werden toen twee hypotheses geformuleerd: ofwel leefden de dino’s er permanent, ofwel migreerden ze ernaar in het warmste seizoen.

Zeven soorten

De nieuwe studie bewijst nu voor het eerst dat minstens zeven soorten dinosaurussen in staat waren zich voort te planten op de zeer hoge breedtegraden. Het gaat onder meer over de Hadrosauridae, Ceratopia en Tyrannosaurussen. Hun jongen zouden niet in staat geweest zijn om meteen lange afstanden af te leggen.

Het Noordpoolgebied was in de tijd van de dinosaurussen niet zo koud als nu, maar de omstandigheden waren toch al erg veeleisend. De jaartemperatuur lag rond 6 graden Celsius, maar in de wintermaanden was het een stuk kouder en sneeuwde het.

Het feit dat de dinosaurussen het hele jaar op de Noordpool bleven, is een nieuwe aanwijzing dat ze warmbloedig waren. Andere recente studies suggereerden dat ook al.

Ancient Tomb Of Alien Found On Mars, With Writing On It! Photos, UFO Sighting News.

I found some alien artifacts in a Mars photo today. The artifacts all lead me to believe that this was all part of an elaborate tomb. I found a grave stone on its side and near it is a large square slab that has alien writing on it. What does it say? It's the name of the person who died. Near it is another part of a coffin with engravings on its side and one meter away is a long upper and lower leg with the knee area very visible and seems to have insect like exoskeleton ridges on it. Very unique and defiantly worth looking at close by the rover, although I don't feel that NASA would ever do so and share those close ups. NASA has the intention to entertain the public with the Remote control toy helicopter to distract the public from thinking about searching for life or evidence of life on Mars. Instead they fly a toy helicopter around Mars and tell the public its amazing...although such toys have been around on Earth for over 40 years! This discovery of the ancient artifacts of a broken tomb of an alien is real science.

There could be as many as 29 potentially habitable worlds 'perfectly positioned' to observe the Earth if they hold an intelligence civilisation, according to a new study.

Exploring ways in which we find exoplanets, that is worlds outside the solar system, the team from Cornell University reversed the process to see which could spot us.

Working alongside the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, astronomers identified 2,034 star-systems in our galactic neighbourhood - within 326 light years of the Earth - that could watch our planet cross the sun. 

Out of those stars, 1,715 could have spotted Earth since human civilisation blossomed about 5,000 years ago, and 319 will be added over the next 5,000 years.

The number of stars varies depending on their location in space relative to the solar system and changes due to the fact we live in a dynamic universe.

While exoplanets haven't been detected around all of the stars that can observe the Earth, the team estimate 29 will have a rocky world in the habitable zone that are well positioned to also detect radio waves emitted by humans over 100 years ago.

'From the exoplanets' point-of-view, we are the aliens,' said Lisa Kaltenegger, professor of astronomy and director of Cornell's Carl Sagan Institute.

'We wanted to know which stars have the right vantage point to see Earth, as it blocks the Sun's light,' she said. 

Because stars move in our dynamic cosmos, this vantage point is gained and lost over time, so they were able to pin-point specific star systems.

The transit method is one of the main ways astronomers use to detect planets in other star systems - they look for 'dips' in the light coming from the star.

It requires specific positioning for the exoplanet the star it is orbiting and the Earth for us to be able to view it as it passes by and this changes over time. 

Kaltenegger and astrophysicist Jackie Faherty, a senior scientist at the American Museum of Natural History used positions and motions from the European Space Agency's Gaia catalog to determine which stars enter and exit the Earth Transit Zone.

'Gaia has provided us with a precise map of the Milky Way galaxy,' Faherty said, 'allowing us to look backward and forward in time, and to see where stars had been located and where they are going.'

Of the 2,034 star-systems passing through the Earth Transit Zone over the 10,000-year period examined, 117 objects lie within about 100 light-years of the sun.

Of these 75 objects have been in the Earth Transit Zone since commercial radio stations on Earth began broadcasting into space about a century ago.

The Kepler mission has spotted thousands of exoplanets since 2014, with 30 planets less than twice the size of Earth now known to orbit within the habitable zones of their stars

Out of those stars, 1,715 could have spotted Earth since human civilisation blossomed about 5,000 years ago, and 319 will be added over the next 5,000 years

Current telescopes aren't able to detect signs of life within an exoplanet atmosphere or whether it is truly habitable, but future observatories including the NASA James Webb space telescope will delve deeper into these distant worlds than ever before

'Our solar neighbourhood is a dynamic place where stars enter and exit that perfect vantage point to see Earth transit the Sun at a rapid pace,' Faherty said.

Included in the catalog of 2,034 star-systems are seven known to host exoplanets.

Each one of these worlds has had or will have an opportunity to detect Earth, just as Earth's scientists have found thousands of worlds orbiting other stars.

By watching distant exoplanets transit - or cross - their own sun, Earth's astronomers can interpret the atmospheres backlit by that sun. 

If exoplanets hold intelligent life, they can observe Earth backlit by the sun and see our atmosphere's chemical signatures of life including oxygen.

The number of stars varies depending on their location in space relative to the solar system and changes due to the fact we live in a dynamic universe

While exoplanets haven't been detected around all of the stars that can observe the Earth, the team estimate 29 will have a rocky world in the habitable zone that are well positioned to also detect radio waves emitted by humans over 100 years ago

Any inhabitants of this world could have seen Earth transit our own sun for 2,158 years, starting about 3,057 years ago but lost that ability 900 years ago. 

The Trappist-1 system, at 45 light-years from Earth, hosts seven transiting Earth-size planets - four of them in the temperate, habitable zone of that star. 

While we have discovered the exoplanets around Trappist-1, they won't be able to spot us until their motion takes them into the Earth Transit Zone in 1,642 years.

Potential Trappist-1 system observers will remain in the cosmic Earth transit stadium seats for 2,371 years once they finally enter the cosmic vantage point.

Whether humans will still be on Earth, or whether Earth is still habitable for humans by that point is unknown. 

'Our analysis shows that even the closest stars generally spend more than 1,000 years at a vantage point where they can see Earth transit,' Kaltenegger said. 

'If we assume the reverse to be true, that provides a healthy timeline for nominal civilisations to identify Earth as an interesting planet.'

Estimates of the number of rocky planets in the habitable zone of their star depend on the radius of the planet and the size and type of the host star. 

New estimates place the number of planets per star within the habitable zone at 1.28 - or between one and two per system. 

This matches the Solar System with the Earth as the only habitable planet, but Venus and Mars both at the outer edge of the habitable zone. 

The concept of an empirical habitable zone limit is actually based on the amount of sunlight a young Venus and Mars would have received early in the solar system.

As we haven't identified habitable worlds or even rocky worlds around all nearby stars, the team decided to estimate how many there would likely be. 

The discussion on the occurrence rate of rocky planets surrounding other stars is ongoing, according to the researchers.

However, they wanted to estimate how many there would be so used pessimistic predictions of 25 per cent of all stars having at least one rocky world to create a rough estimate.

The Ross 128 system, with a red dwarf host star located in the Virgo constellation, is about 11 light-years away and is the second-closest system with an Earth-size exoplanet - its world is about 1.8 times the size of our planet

Estimates of the number of rocky planets in the habitable zone of their star depend on the radius of the planet and the size and type of the host star.

THE JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE CAN PEER INTO ALIEN ATMOSPHERES

This led to the figure of 508 rocky worlds in the habitable zone of the full sample of more than 2,000 star systems able to view the Earth within 100 light years.

That is roughly the area radio waves will have travelled - so at the outer edge people living on that world may be hearing test messages from Guglielmo Marconi. 

Within that limit they determined there would be about 29 potentially habitable worlds that 'could' host an alien civilisation capable of listening in to our radio. 

However, communication could be difficult as a civilisation 82 light years away would just be hearing broadcasts from the start of WW2, and we wouldn't get a reply until 2101 if they sent it today. 

The James Webb Space telescope - expected to launch later this year - is set to take a detailed look at several transiting worlds to characterise their atmospheres.

Doing so will allow astronomers to ultimately search for signs of life as we may be able to spot tell-tale chemical signatures only created by living creatures.

The Breakthrough Starshot initiative is an ambitious project underway that is looking to launch a nano-sized spacecraft toward the closest exoplanet detected around Proxima Centauri - 4.2 light-years from us - and fully characterise that world.

'One might imagine that worlds beyond Earth that have already detected us, are making the same plans for our planet and solar system,' said Faherty. 

'This catalog is an intriguing thought experiment for which one of our neighbours might be able to find us.'  

The 29 world estimate is also heavily human centric, based on the idea of life as we know it - requiring water and a rocky world. 

However, despite the prediction of 29 planets, we don't actually know if those stars have worlds capable of housing intelligent civilisations. 

Study author, Lisa Kaltenegger told MailOnline: 'There are not stars with known exoplanets that could have seen us in the last 100 years - we have not found them yet because we have not searched this region of the sky for them yet.'

It doesn't mean they are not there, just that the number of star systems visible from the Earth is so vast that we haven't got round to looking yet. 

The findings have been published in the journal Nature.  

Scientists study the atmosphere of distant exoplanets using enormous space satellites like Hubble

Distant stars and their orbiting planets often have conditions unlike anything we see in our atmosphere. 

To understand these new world's, and what they are made of, scientists need to be able to detect what their atmospheres consist of.  

They often do this by using a telescope similar to Nasa's Hubble Telescope.

These enormous satellites scan the sky and lock on to exoplanets that Nasa think may be of interest. 

Here, the sensors on board perform different forms of analysis. 

One of the most important and useful is called absorption spectroscopy. 

This form of analysis measures the light that is coming out of a planet's atmosphere. 

Every gas absorbs a slightly different wavelength of light, and when this happens a black line appears on a complete spectrum. 

These lines correspond to a very specific molecule, which indicates it's presence on the planet. 

They are often called Fraunhofer lines after the German astronomer and physicist that first discovered them in 1814.

By combining all the different wavelengths of lights, scientists can determine all the chemicals that make up the atmosphere of a planet. 

The key is that what is missing, provides the clues to find out what is present.  

It is vitally important that this is done by space telescopes, as the atmosphere of Earth would then interfere. 

Absorption from chemicals in our atmosphere would skew the sample, which is why it is important to study the light before it has had chance to reach Earth. 

This is often used to look for helium, sodium and even oxygen in alien atmospheres.

Siberia: Meet the strange “metallic spheres” of unknown origin

Siberia is a frozen land, full of mysteries and enigmas that have dazzled the scientific world. One of these questions is metal spheres that baffle experts.

Located in Russia, Siberia is a region endowed with mysteries ; the area has been linked to multiple UFO sightings, habitat of lost civilizations, strange phenomena or rare explosions.

An example is the strange case of Tunguska ; mystery that little by little has become more related to an unidentified flying object.

Siberian Metal Spheres

North of Russia is Yakutia, a region of 3,083,523 square kilometers. This area has been explored very little since, being surrounded by swamps, it is practically impassable.

The natives know it as ” The Valley of Death ” and avoid approaching the area at all costs. Local stories assure that whoever enters, never returns .

It is in this frozen valley, where there are testimonies of the existence of some strange metallic spheres that nobody knows how they appeared or what function they fulfill there.

The locals assure that the origin of the spheres is not terrestrial , although there is no type of scientific research to corroborate it.

Obviously this whole area of ​​Siberia seems to be a magnet for mysterious and strange phenomena ; A small list of unfortunate events in the area are the Tunguska, in 1908, Chulum in 1984, and Vitim, in 2002.

People who live in the vicinity say that the fear they feel is due to the number of diseases and deaths of people who went through it or were in the vicinity of the metal.

Testimonials of people who went to the place

The renowned explorer R. Maak, was one of the first people to explore the region in 1853 . His story tells of Algy timirbit, a river that flows through the upper part of the Viliuy mountain . In that place there is a kind of “copper cauldron” that he could not measure , since only the edges were visible sticking out of the ground.  

A geologist, in 1936 he ignored the legends of the area and entered the vicinity of the Olguidakh river , guided by native elders. There he found a sphere buried in the ground, reddish in color and extremely smooth . He said the edges were sharper than any material he has ever known and the outer walls were barely 2 centimeters thick.

All this information was sent to the Yakutia regional center.

In 1979 , an expedition of native archaeologists tried to locate the spheres mentioned in different legends.

The person who guided them claimed to have seen them in his youth, but the topography of the place was totally different compared to those days.

ND Arkhipov, a researcher who studied Yakutia culture, had this to say:

«Among the population of the Viliuy basin there is an ancient legend about the existence in the upper parts of this river of bronze cauldrons or olgis.

This legend deserves attention since the areas that are the supposed location of the mythical calderas contain several streams with the name Olguidakh ».

Other testimonies with less documentation come from hunters who claimed to have seen them. Some protruded from the ground and others covered by vegetation or under water.

What can be deduced is that these strange spheres are made of an unknown metal, very similar to copper. It is believed that its strength and toughness is far superior to what is known.

The curse of the spheres

The little vegetation that grows in the area is totally irregular.

The few tests that have been done have not been taken into account by the laboratories, since they do not know their origin or composition .

Local explorers assure that as time passes the spheres sink deeper into the ground until they disappear.

A strange fact is that in their surroundings, strange blackish spots appear on the ground and the vegetation does not grow . Reason why the elders of the area curse them.

Related to this is the testimony of Mikhail Koretsky from Vladivostok, who claimed to have been in the place where the spheres are found.

He said that up to 3 times he visited the place; the first time with his father at the age of 10 in 1933. Then he returned in 1947 with a group of young people.

His interest in visiting the place was the possibility of finding gold in the valleys. On the spheres, he managed to make out up to 7 spheres or cauldrons .

The size and the metal were powerfully conspicuous. They tried to scratch them with a fine, sharp chisel on several occasions, without success. The metal they are made of is not damaged .

The little vegetation that existed around the spheres was totally strange , of disproportionate sizes or peculiar colors.

They spent the night in the area and did not immediately feel any strange effects. However, 3 months later, one of the 6 young men lost all his hair and 3 strange sore spots appeared on the left side of Vladivostok’s head . Coincidentally, that side was the one that rested on the ground to sleep.

• So far there is no scientific study on the spheres, beyond testimonies made by adventurers. But the spheres of Siberia continue to generate intrigue. Where do they come from or what is their origin? Nobody seems to know.

While the release of the Pentagon report on UAPs put a damper on finding new intelligent species from other planets, archeologists are busy finding new species of humans right here on Earth. Shortly after the blockbuster find of a jaw and partial skull of a Neanderthal ancestor named Nesher Ramla Homo in Israel, researchers in China rediscovered a massive skull lost for 90 years that appears to be the cranium of a new Homo species that is the closest relative of modern humans. Does this change everything that was just changed a few days ago?

“The Harbin fossil is one of the most complete human cranial fossils in the world. This fossil preserved many morphological details that are critical for understanding the evolution of the Homo genus and the origin of Homo sapiens.”

This discovery is so big, it prompted Qiang Ji, a professor of paleontology of Hebei GEO University, to co-author three separate papers about it in the journal The Innovation. In 1933 in Harbin, a city it north-east China’s Heilongjiang province, the skull was reportedly found by a construction worker working on a bridge on the Songhua river – Songhua means ‘Black Dragon’. Fearing that China’s Japanese occupiers at that time would confiscate it, the man was said to have hidden it in a family well, only telling his family about it right before he died in 2018. Fortunately, they did the right thing and contacted archeologists who recovered the well-preserved skull which, unlike Neanderthals and other ancient Homo species, was as large as modern human heads.

Where will it fit in the evolution of homo sapiens?

“While it shows typical archaic human features, the Harbin cranium presents a mosaic combination of primitive and derived characters setting itself apart from all the other previously-named Homo species.”

Ji explains in a press release that, while its hat size was the same as that of modern humans, the species had larger, almost square eye sockets, thick brow ridges, a wide mouth, and oversized teeth – enough to prompt him to call it a new species he named Homo longi or Dragon Man – ‘long’ means dragon. His research team dated the skull to at least 146,000 years in the Middle Pleistocene, a time of migration for other Homo species, which means H. longi and H. sapiens could have been in the area at the same time. Co-author Xijun Ni, a professor of primatology and paleoanthropology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Hebei GEO University, thinks the relationship may have been even closer than just a chance meeting in Harbin.

“It is widely believed that the Neanderthal belongs to an extinct lineage that is the closest relative of our own species. However, our discovery suggests that the new lineage we identified that includes Homo longi is the actual sister group of H. sapiens.”

Would Dragon Man want to still be around today?

Ni thinks the divergence time between H. sapiens and the Neanderthals may have occurred over one million years ago, putting it 400,000 years earlier than scientists commonly believe. However, co-author Chris Stringer, research leader at the Natural History Museum in London, isn’t convinced just yet that Dragon Man is indeed a new species or simply a variation of another one found in Dali county in China in 1978.

“I prefer to call it Homo daliensis, but it’s not a big deal. The important thing is the third lineage of later humans that are separate from Neanderthals and separate from Homo sapiens.”

As with other ancient human species, it will be difficult to trace lineage because of all of the inbreeding that took place between them. While the discovery of Dragon Man is probably a “this changes everything” moment, it also reinforces the fact that, when it comes to humans and sex, some things never change.

It is hard to get a lock on the true beginning of the UFO craze in the United States, but there are some old standbys. The Kenneth Arnold sighting of 1947 often crops up, as of course does the supposed UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico that same year. These are the cases that launched the UFO phenomena into the mainstream consciousness And started the whole “flying saucer” fad, but there have been sightings and incidents going back well beyond these commonly held milestones. Indeed, the earlier UFO reports from America predate Arnold or Roswell by quite a good margin, and have served to carve out their own bizarre corner of the UFO landscape.

In 1628, the English Puritan settlers of the New World established the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which was the second major settlement in New England following the Plymouth Colony. A very important figure at the time was a lawyer named John Winthrop, who was in charge of a huge wave of settlers coming to America, and he would serve as the governor of the colony for 12 years starting from 1629. Winthrop would also be the founder of various other communities along Massachusetts Bay and the Charles River, and was also known as an authoritarian and religiously conservative leader, known to be against pure democracy, once calling it “the meanest and worst of all forms of government.” Despite this, he was still a well-respected leader and politician who has made his mark upon the early history of the United States, with some of his writings serving to influence politicians to this day, but a lesser-known aspect of the man is that he also wrote some pretty weird stuff in his journals, including what is thought to be among the very first UFO accounts in the New World.

John Winthrop

Tucked away between the pages of various mundane accounts of colonial life is a very curious entry dated March 1, 1639, in which Winthrop writes of a very bizarre and outlandish  incident involving a man named James Everell, who he describes as a “discreet, sober man.” According to Winthrop, Everell had been rowing with two other men up a section of the Muddy River, about two miles from the village of Charlestown, when they saw a “great light in the sky,” which seemed to dart about back and forth.

When it stood still, it flamed up, and was about three yards square; when it ran, it was contracted into the figure of a swine: it ran as swift as an arrow towards Charlton [Charlestown], and so up and down about two or three hours ran as swift as an arrow, darting back and forth between them and the village of Charlestown, about two miles away. They were come down in their lighter about a mile, and, when it was over, they found themselves carried quite back against the tide to the place they came from. Diverse other credible persons saw the same light, after, about the same place.

The men claimed that after the sighting they had inexplicably found themselves transported about one mile upstream, with no idea or memory of how they had gotten there, nor any sense of the time that had passed. This is an odd detail, as it would mark this incident as not only the first report of a UFO in America, but also the first account of missing time and possibly even the first of alien abduction. One of the explanations at the time was that the men had merely seen illumination from a light phenomenon springing from swamp gas, called ignis fatuus, caused by the combustion of gas from decomposed organic matter. Others thought it was just a misidentified meteorite, and one skeptic was a man named James Savage, who added his own footnote to the sighting in a published version of Winthrop’s journal in 1839, saying:

This account of an ignis fatuus [pale light over marshy ground] may easily be believed on testimony less respectable than that which was adduced. Some operation of the devil, or other power beyond the customary agents of nature, was probably imagined by the relaters and hearers of that age, and the wonder of being carried a mile against the tide became important corroboration of the imagination. Perhaps they were wafted [carry lightly], during the two- or three-hours’ astonishment, for so moderate a distance, by the wind; but, if this suggestion be rejected, we might suppose, that the eddy, flowing always, in our rivers, contrary to the tide in the channel, rather than the meteor, carried their lighter back.

In the end, neither swamp gas nor meteorites really seem to adequately explain what the men reported as written in Winthrop’s journal, and considering that it is only mentioned in one entry and happened so long ago, we will probably never know for sure. Interestingly, this isn’t even the only weird such account to be found within Winthrop’s journal. Five years later there is another entry dated January 18, 1644, which makes mention of a light rising from the water that was witnessed by several boatmen near Boston. This light was apparently “in form like a man,” and “went at a small distance to the town, and so to the south point, and there vanished away.” A few weeks after this yet another journal entry mentions another strange report from Boston Harbor, in which Winthrop writes:

A light like the moon arose about the N.E. point in Boston, and met the former at Nottles Island, and there they closed in one, and then parted, and closed and parted diverse times, and so went over the hill in the island and vanished. Sometimes they shot out flames and sometimes sparkles. This was about eight of the clock in the evening, and was seen by many. About the same time, a voice was heard upon the water between Boston and Dorchester, calling out in a most dreadful manner, ‘Boy! Boy! Come away! Come away!’; and it suddenly shifted from one place to another a great distance, about 20 times. It was heard by diverse godly persons. About 14 days after, the same voice in the same dreadful manner was heard by others on the other side of the town towards Nottles Island.

Winthrop would muse that the voice heard was perhaps from the ghost of a sailor who had died several moths prior to the UFO sighting when his ship had exploded when gunpowder had accidentally been ignited. Whatever the case may be, it is a pretty bizarre report, and it is hard to know what might be going on here. Once again, it only appears in one entry and is never brought up again, leaving it firmly and forever in the realm of speculation. It is all quite the strange case and series of events, and we are left to try and make sense of it all. Was any of this real, and is so what was it? Or was this just a gag thrown into an important historical figure’s journal. And if so, why? It is all certainly a bizarre historical oddity, which has definite repercussions on the UFO discussion and which many are not aware even exist at all.

Mars, our nearest planetary neighbor in the Solar-System, is approximately forty million miles from the Earth and one hundred and forty two million miles from the Sun. Not particularly big in size, it is dwarfed by all of the planets except for Mercury. At the other end of the spectrum, however, Mars is home to the gigantic Olympus Mons, which is the biggest volcano in the entire Solar-System. The huge amount of iron oxide on Mars gives it a noticeable – famous, even – reddish color, hence its memorable nickname: the Red Planet. It has a blood-freezing average temperature of -81 degrees F, and its decidedly harsh atmosphere is comprised almost exclusively of carbon dioxide; aside, that is, from a small amount of water vapor. There is no denying the fact that dusty, rocky, desert-like Mars is a very interesting world: for one thing, it has polar ice-caps. And those ice-caps are comprised of water. Yes, good old water; just like ours. And, there’s no denying that mars has its mysteries. Let’s begin.

As NASA noted in 1997: “Launched November 7, 1996, Mars Global Surveyor became the first successful mission to the red planet in two decades. After a year and a half spent trimming its orbit from a looping ellipse to a circular track around the planet, the spacecraft began its prime mapping mission in March 1999. It has continued to observe the planet from a low-altitude, nearly polar orbit ever since.” Not only that, NASA added that Mars has “very repeatable weather patterns” and that a “panoply of high-resolution images from the Mars Global Surveyor has documented gullies and debris flows suggesting that occasional sources of liquid water, similar to an aquifer, were once present at or near the surface of the planet.”

That same panoply revealed something else; something amazing, if the data was not being misinterpreted. Tucked away among a wealth of less controversial images from the Mars Global Surveyor were a number of astounding images that appeared to show nothing less than vast areas of vegetation; trees, even. They looked eerily like what on Earth are termed Banyan Trees. They are, essentially, trees that grow and thrive by living on other trees. It wasn’t long before the media – and Arthur C. Clarke – caught wind of these extraordinary photographs and what they seemed to show. The debate still goes on. Some say trees. NASA says “no.”

Now, let’s address the matters of Mars’ giant-sized spiders. Yes, you did read that right.  But, no, we’re not talking about something like a wild plot from a 1950s sci-fi-driven Godzilla-type movie. We’re actually talking about something far more exciting. It’s a story that dates back to 1999, which was when the Mars Global Surveyor photographed some seriously strange “things” on the surface of Mars. “Spidery” is the best way to describe them. One person, more than any other, who took up the challenge to solve the mystery is Greg Orme. Someone who has a deep passion for the mysteries of Mars, Orme began his research into Martian anomalies in 1994. Since then, he has written a book, Why We Must Go to Mars: The King’s Valley, and a paper on those mysterious spiders for the journal of the British Interplanetary Society. Orme’s voluminous collection of photos of Martian anomalies is highly impressive. Mac Tonnies was excited by Orme’s work and went on to describe the “Black Spiders,” as they became known, as resembling “nerve ganglia” or “ground-hugging trees” within “a macabre forest.” Such descriptions are undeniably appropriate. NASA has a very different view on the spiders of Mars: “…these aren’t actual spiders. Called ‘araneiform terrain,’ they are spider-like radiating mounds that form when carbon dioxide ice below the surface heats up and releases.”

It was in 1998 that the Mars Global Surveyor photographed what looks very much a monolith on the surface of Mars’ moon Phobos. The controversy surrounding the eye-opening image continues to annoy NASA and to amaze seekers of Martians and those who conclude that Mars was once a world filled with life. It should be noted, though, that Phobos’ monolith is not alone. That’s right: Phobos has a rival in the weird stakes. Say”hello” to nothing less than the monolith of Mars. That’s right: both Phobos and its parent planet appear to have on their surfaces what seem to be obelisk-shaped stones. It’s no surprise that the controversy surrounding the ““object”” seen on the Red Planet reverberated all around the world when the story reached the eager ears and eyes of the media.

On September 24, 2015, the U.K.’s Express newspaper ran an article titled “Has Stonehenge been found on Mars? Ancient ‘alien’ stone circle discovered on Red Planet.” That’s quite a headline, to say the very least. “Mr. Enigma,” who highlighted the breaking story at his YouTube channel said that what appeared to be in evidence on the surface of Mars was “a perfectly circular platform with a strange cluster of stones emerging from it.” He added: “I know the formation is not an exact match, nor am I saying it is, indeed, a Stonehenge set up. I am just saying there is something strange about this area and it looks very much like the mysterious ancient stone circle of Stonehenge.

Even more disconcerting, 46 of them are in the right place to pick up our radio and TV signals, and over half have potentially habitable stars. Is Big ET watching us too?

“Among these stars are seven known exoplanet hosts, including Ross-128, which saw Earth transit the Sun in the past, and Teegarden’s Star and Trappist-1, which will start to see it in 29 and 1,642 years, respectively. We found that human-made radio waves have already swept over 75 of the closest stars on our list.”

As described in their new study published in the journal Nature, scientists at Cornell University and the American Museum of Natural History used positions and motions from the European Space Agency’s Gaia eDR3 catalog to determine which stars enter and exit the Earth Transit Zone -the region of the sky from which an ET observer could detect Earth as it moved in front of the Sun — and for how long. The map allows astronomers to look back in time as well as extrapolate which stars and exoplanets will enter the right position – in addition to looking back 5,000 years, they also looked ahead 5,000 years. Interestingly, being close to us does not necessarily make it easier to see us.

“The Trappist-1 system, at 45 light-years from Earth, hosts seven transiting Earth-size planets – four of them in the temperate, habitable zone of that star. While we have discovered the exoplanets around Trappist-1, they won’t be able to spot us until their motion takes them into the Earth Transit Zone in 1,642 years.”

The Ross 128 system is about 11 light-years away and has an Earth-size exoplanet which could have seen Earth for 2,158 years starting about 3,057 years ago. While that would give them a view, it was far too early for them to pick up our radio and television signals of the past 100 years. On the other hand, these ETs might have instruments that can detect changes in our atmosphere due to agriculture or industrialization, which they might interpret, as we do, as indicators of life.

A woman on Tiktok recorded a unknown flying object moving past the Miami building that had collapsed this week. The object was seen moving across the sky behind a neighboring building. Its a UFO. Aliens have a high interest in current events and tragic events like this. Alien technology is capable of scanning the wreckage of the building and accessing exactly how many if any people are still living under the rubble. Its said 159 are unaccounted for and four people are confirmed dead. Its a horrible disaster which breaks my heart in to a thousand pieces. UFOs are often seen around such events and they gather information for some unknown reasons. 

The second part of the video is a news cast where a dark disk is hovering on the right of the building. Its easy to see but the newscaster seems oblivious of it. 100% alien in origin.

The Pentagon released the UFO report but it opens more questions.

They only looked at 144 sightings of aerial phenomena from 2004 to 2021 and they only said that they can't explain the sightings, they don't rule out. extraterrestrial activity but they offers no evidence that the sightings were aliens. In addition, the report also provides other possible explanations and questions about this phenomenon.

Actually worldwide UFO and USO research already took place decades ago but these files remain secret, not only the Pentagon keep the most files secret but also the Soviet Navy and although many of the USO files of the Soviet and Russian Navy remain secret, some have become available due to the painstaking efforts of dedicated researchers. 

Most of these stories have never been told outside of Russia or the former Soviet Union. One particularly case tells about a strange underwater phenomenon that attracted attention of the Soviet Navy’s high command. 

This mysterious phenomenon was discovered in the 1960s and 1970s. Soviet nuclear-powered submarines encountered strange sounds emanating from moving objects at great depths.. 

It provides yet more evidence that we are not alone. Indeed, they suggest a permanent presence of something unusual in the depths of Earth's large bodies of water.

Longtime Bay Area E.T. Hunters Skeptical of Pending Gov’t UFO Report

As the government is about to release a full accounting of unexplained aerial phenomena this month, scientists in the Bay Area who have looked for extraterrestrial life doubt they’ll see anything conclusive.

The alien abduction phenomenon is a truly weird corner of UFO lore. Here we have accounts of people being spirited away by otherworldly forces, to come back with myriad bizarre tales of their experiences at the hands of these entities, and it is always at the very least deeply odd. All manner of people, from all walks of life have claimed to have been taken away by aliens, yet some reports tend to carry perhaps a bit more weight than others, coming from traditionally “reliable” witnesses. One such case is that of a police officer who claims to have been taken away by aliens, and who stuck by his story even in the face of scathing ridicule.

In 1976, Herbert Schirmer was just a 23-year-old young man who had just served in the Navy in Vietnam and had just started working for the Ashland Police Department, in Nebraska, in the United States. On December 3 of that year, he had been with the force for 7 months, and on this evening, he went out on his regular patrol as usual, going out along Highway 63 for what was normally a pretty quiet beat. The rural area didn’t typically have much going on, with his patrol usually very uneventful, some might even say boring. There was no reason to think that this evening would be any different, and as he headed down that dark highway, the lane lines hypnotically flickering by, he would have had no idea of the extremely bizarre turn his life was about to take.

It was around 2:30 AM when Schirmer rounded a bend near the intersection of Highway 6 and 63, and saw before him what he at first took to be the lights of an oncoming vehicle, two blinking red lights atop what he took to be a large white truck. He soon realized that whatever it was, the vehicle wasn’t moving. Thinking it may have been someone who had broken down and was perhaps in a bit of trouble, he decided to stop his patrol car and shine his spotlight out towards what he still thought was a truck. When the spotlight hit the object, it soon was very apparent that this was no truck. The red lights seemed to be emanating from two portholes on the side of a silver, disc-shaped, metallic object that was like polished aluminum and hovering in mid air about 8 feet off of the surface of the road. Around the mysterious object he could see what looked like some sort of catwalk encircling it, and on its bottom was what looked like some sort of landing gear. As he stared in awe trying to process what he was seeing, the object then passed directly overhead and belched forth flames to shoot up into the sky at great speed, leaving Schirmer there alone in the dark, quiet night, wondering if he should call it in or not.

Schirmer made his way back to the station, and he quickly realized that a whole hour had passed, even though it had felt like only around 10 minutes. He then soon had a red welt spring up on his neck as he was overcome with an excruciating headache, nausea, and a “weird buzzing” in his head. He made a note of his sighting in a report, and that was that, until when 3 months later that a UFO research group from a United States Air Force funded group of scientists at the University of Colorado called the Condon Commission came knocking. The organization was mostly all about looking into UFO sightings and trying to debunk, discredit, or explain them away, and they went about inviting Schirmer to come out to Boulder, Colorado for questioning, which he accepted. He would then undergo regressive hypnosis, administered by psychologist Dr. Leo Sprinkle of the University of Wyoming, and his story would get even stranger still.

Under hypnosis, Schirmer was able to have many hidden memories from that fateful night come floating up to the surface. He claimed that his car’s engine had cut out and the radio had died, after which inscrutable humanoid beings 4 1/2 to 5 feet tall had emerged from the enigmatic ship, dressed in silver-grey uniforms and helmets with antennae on them, and with slanted “catlike” eyes, white-grey skin, long, sharp heads, flat noses and slit-like mouths. On the front of their uniforms were emblems featuring a winged serpent of some sort. Schirmer recalled having tried to draw his pistol but found that he was somehow unable to do so, as if he had been paralyzed. These creatures revealed themselves to be friendly, speaking to him telepathically and asking him if he was “the watchman of this town” and bringing him aboard their ship. Once there, he would say that they had shown him around and explained various things about themselves, such as that they drew power for their ship from power lines and had a base in the planet Venus, and they also told him that they would visit him again and that he would “see the universe.” The whole report was rather detailed, with Schirmer describing each of what he said were three levels of the ship, but the Condon Committee was unimpressed, saying:

Evaluation of psychological assessment tests, the lack of any evidence, and interviews with the patrolman, left project staff with no confidence that the trooper’s reported UFO experience was physically real.

In the aftermath of all of this, Schirmer would return to Nebraska to scathing ridicule and personal attacks on his reputation. He was relentlessly taunted, made fun of, and there was even a bullet riddled effigy of him hung up at Ashland Cemetery. He would step down from his job at the Ashland Police Department, suffer from psychological problems and depression, and it was even reported that the whole thing had caused his marriage to disintegrate, his wife unable to handle it all and leaving him. Amazingly, throughout this all he would stick by his story, eventually moving to Omaha and keeping a low profile to disappear from the public eye. Despite all the ridicule aimed at him, Schirmer has had plenty of those who have believed him, and one of these is comic artist Michael Jasorka, who created a self-published 50-page graphic novel depicting the events. Jasotka has said of the account:

I’ve always been intrigued by UFOs. Herbert’s just spoke to me. It was so vivid. The facts that he brings across in this story telling are beyond a creative mind, they’re too, they’re too detailed let’s say. You could tell from his storytelling manner and his voice that he couldn’t have conjured this up. We believe in this case, we really think it occurred with him I think popular cultural media is looking for these kinds of things because not everybody knows about them.

The case has been picked apart by UFO researchers ever since, and it is hard to know what to make of it all. It is certainly notable that Schirmer has always stuck by his story even in the face of ridicule and his own life falling apart around him, so is this perhaps indicative of him maybe telling the truth, or at least what he truly believes to be the truth? Or is this just the ramblings of someone who has lost their grip on reality? It is difficult to say for sure, and the case of Herbert Schirmer remains unsolved.

Among the most fascinating kinds of phenomena in the tool kit of various organisms is the unique quality of bioluminescence. From fireflies to deep ocean fish at sea, a wide range of different manifestations of natural luminescence in nature exist, which species use for everything from attracting mates, to luring in prey.

One of the most fascinating places where bioluminescent phenomena occur is in ocean environments, where a variety of different organisms deploy luminous capabilities in unique ways. At times, significant portions of ocean water may take on a glowing appearance, due to the presence of tiny luminescent organisms which produce luciferin, a compound that produces light once it becomes oxidized.

However, there are also a few instances involving peculiar phenomena that have accompanied the presence of bioluminescent phenomena at sea. Specifically, this involves the curious echoes on ship’s radars in the presence of light produced by these organisms.

A pair of notable incidents that appear to convey this phenomenon occurred beginning in March 1977. The sailing ship m.v. Ebani had been traversing the North Atlantic on this date when it began to encounter a number of false radar echoes which reoccurred throughout the day. These radar returns appeared to the crew like groups of fishing boats approximately five miles distance, which would have seemed to be a plausible explanation if not for the fact that the returns would disappear once the Ebani attempted to close its distance on the spurious targets.

At approximately 8 PM on the date in question, the crew observed the targets on radar at a distance of approximately 5.5 miles when, rather than vanishing, they appeared to move around the perimeter of the ship at this distance, encircling the Ebani within a large, 10-mile circle. Coinciding with the movement of the targets observed on radar, the crew had been able to observe a change in the appearance of the ocean water, which began to look milky and had been accompanied by a fishy odor.

At this point, the crew directed their Aldis lamp toward a region of the ocean ahead of them, which revealed the presence of luminescent organisms in the sea. The strange circle of bioluminescent organisms remained for close to 45 minutes, during which time the curious radar echoes also continued.

The following year on June 20, another sailing vessel, the Gambada, was en route between Santos and Buenos Aires when it also began to detect unusual radar echoes. Initially, the crew in this instance believed they were detecting a storm moving toward the vessel, although it appeared to be approaching against the prevailing wind. The crew noticed that the radar echo looked unlike a typical weather formation, and soon it became evident that once the ship was passing through the region producing the radar echo, there was no rain to be seen. What was plainly evident, however, was an illuminated region of the ocean surrounding the Gambada, illuminating the seawater in the same area that appeared to coincide with the peculiar false radar return.

Although there is little mystery behind the oceanic bioluminescence itself, the occurrence of odd radar returns associated with the presence of these organisms is something that is far less often reported. Explanations for it seem to be equally elusive, and it remains a curiosity as far as the many appearances of luminous phenomena at sea are concerned.

Solar system's first interstellar visitor Oumuamua was ripped from the surface of an Earth-sized planet that 'got too close to its host star', scientists claim

• Chinese and American researchers believe it was ripped away from a planet 

• Experts expect to discovery many more interstellar objects in the coming years 

• It was either part of a tiny protoplanet that orbits very near to a larger star or a super-Earth sized planet that got too close to a lower mass white dwarf star

The strange cigar-shaped Oumuamua space rock discovered in 2017 was ripped from a planet and sent hurtling into space after it came too close to its star. 

When it appeared it became the first visitor from another star system to be spotted from Earth, and astronomers have speculated on its origins ever since. 

Experts from National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences believe it could have been ripped from a planet getting close to its star.  

The team speculate that it could have been part of a super-Earth sized exoplanet orbiting very close to its star, that was then destroyed by tidal forces.

Astronomers say Oumuamua is is 'the tip of the iceberg' for alien visitors and expect to discovery many more rocks from other star systems in the next few years.

When it appeared in 2017 Oumuamua became the first visitor from another star system to be spotted from Earth, and astronomers have speculated on its origins ever since

Study lead author Dr Yun Zhang thinks the process they describe could mean that Oumuamua is just one of an army of interstellar projectiles hurtling through space.

Oumuamua was discovered on October 19, 2017 by the University of Hawaii's Pan-STARRS1 telescope that was looking for comets and asteroids near the Earth.

It was hurtling through space at a staggering 196,000 miles per hour (313,822 km/h) and the name is Hawaiian for 'a messenger from afar arriving first'.

'The discovery of Oumuamua implies that the population of rocky interstellar objects is much larger than we previously thought,' said Zhang.

'On average, each planetary system should eject in total about a hundred trillion objects like Oumuamua.'

When astronomers first spotted Oumuamua 2017, little was known about where the perplexing rock came from and how it was formed.

This study, published in the Nature Astronomy journal, has now offered the first set of answers to those questions. 

'Oumuamua is absolutely nothing like anything else in our solar system,' Zhang said.

'Its dry surface, unusually elongated shape, and puzzling motion even drove some scientists to wonder if it was an alien probe.

The team created a computer simulation of what would happen if a planet got close to a star and was stretched and ripped apart. They discovered it would form objects similar in shape to Oumuamua

'It is really a mysterious object, but some signs, like its colours and the absence of radio emission, point to 'Oumuamua being a natural object.

'Our objective is to come up with a comprehensive scenario, based on well understood physical principles, to piece together all the tantalising clues.' 

The researchers suggest that as the rock tumbled past its star, it began to spin and evaporate off most of its more volatile substances. 

Additionally, they suggest the 'cigar' may have originated as a tiny 0.6 mile (1km) wide planet precursor, or a close-in rocky super-Earth, orbiting a white dwarf. 

Oumuamua's rocky body was a surprise to astronomers who assumed the first interstellar visitor would be icy like a comet with a visible tail but the visitor's appearance is dry and similar to rocky bodies like an asteroid.

The researchers ran high-resolution computer simulations to model what happens when a relatively small object flies close to a massive star.

They observed that the tidal forces of the larger body were capable of tearing the smaller one apart, as happened to the Shoemaker-Levy 9 comet when it came close to Jupiter, the researchers explained.

These tidal processes can eject some debris into interstellar space, which researchers suspect happened to Oumuamua and also explain its shape. 

'The elongated shape is more compelling when we considered the variation of material strength during the stellar encounter,' Zhang said.

'The ratio of long axis to short axis can be even larger than ten to one.'

A cigar-shaped object was the first from outside the Milky Way to visit the solar system. The Oumuamua asteroid (artist's impression) floated through our star system in November 2017

The team suggests their theory could also explain why Oumuamua moves in an unusual, non-gravitational way.

Dr Zhang said: 'If 'Oumuamua was produced and ejected in the way we suggest, plenty of residual water ice could be activated during its passage through the solar system.

'The resulting outgassing would cause accelerations that match Oumuamua's comet-like trajectory.'

The researchers also used thermal modelling to show that the cigar-like rock would have melted as it passed close to the star and reformed into a solid elongated shape as it travelled away.

Since Oumuamua-type objects may pass through habitable zones, the researchers are not ruling out the possibility that they could transport matter - called panspermia - capable of generating life.

Dr Zhang said: 'This is a very new field. These interstellar objects could provide critical clues about how planetary systems form and evolve.'

Study co-author Dr Douglas Lin, of the University of California said that Oumuamua is just the 'tip of the iceberg.'

Lin expects there will be many more similar objects found by the Vera C. Rubin Observatory currently under construction in Chile.

The Rubin is a wide-field reflecting telescope that can photograph the entire available sky every few nights - making it perfect for spotting 'alien visitors'. 

Dr Matthew Knight, of the Oumuamua International Space Science Institute team said this study, which he was not involved in, does a 'remarkable' job of explaining the Oumuamua's unusual properties with a 'single, coherent model.'

The United States Naval Academy astronomer added: 'As future interstellar objects are discovered in coming years, it will be very interesting to see if any exhibit Oumuamua-like properties.

'If so, it may indicate that the processes described in this study are widespread.'

In only another four years, it will pass Neptune's orbit on its way back into interstellar space.

Because ′Oumuamua is the first interstellar object ever observed in our solar system, researchers caution that it's difficult to draw general conclusions about this newly-discovered class of celestial bodies. 

However, observations point to the possibility that other star systems regularly eject small comet-like objects and there should be more of them drifting among the stars.

Future ground- and space-based surveys could detect more of these interstellar vagabonds, providing a larger sample for scientists to analyse.  

The research has been studied in the journal Nature Astronomy.

Alien hunters at SETI – the Search for Extra-terrestrial Intelligence based at Berkeley University, California said there was a possibility the rock was ‘an alien artefact’.

But scientists from Queen’s University Belfast took a good look at the object and said it appears to be an asteroid, or ‘planetesimal’ as originally thought. 

Researchers believe the cigar-shaped asteroid had a 'violent past', after looking at the light bouncing off its surface. 

They aren't exactly sure when the violent collision took place, but they believe the lonely asteroid's tumbling will continue for at least a billion years.

When it comes to proposing “what if” questions about UFOs and aliens, there is perhaps no bigger player on the scientific side than Harvard University astronomer Abrahma ‘Avi’ Loeb. Loeb was made famous to the general public with his proposals early on that the interstellar object ‘Oumuamua was actually some for of extraterrestrial spacecraft that could have been crewed by living or robotic pilots. He’s back in the news this week with a new “what if” about ‘Oumuamua that fits right in with the upcoming Pentagon report on UAPs and the public’s wondering if any of them will be revealed as alien crafts. Loeb, as usual, has a different angle.

“A predecessor to ‘Oumuamua could have been a craft that deposited small probes into the Earth’s atmosphere without being noticed, because it visited before Pan-STARRS started its operations. Along this imaginative line of reasoning, ‘Oumuamua could have arranged to appear as coming from the neutral local standard of rest, which serves as the local “galactic parking lot,” so that its origin would remain unknown.”

In an op-ed in Scientific American, Loeb drops the idea that ‘Oumuamua may have been a spacecraft retrieving data from a previous visitor that dropped probes to Earth – one that stopped by before we had technology like Pan-STARRS (Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System) telescope used to discover it. before you scoff, he justifies this theory with a proposal in the style of the Fermi paradox (If there a billions of stars in the galaxy and a high percentage that could support life, where are all the aliens?) observation about interstellar objects:

“In fact, there should be a quadrillion ‘Oumuamua-like objects within the solar system at any given time, if they are distributed on random trajectories with equal probability of moving in all directions.”

If there are that many interstellar objects, where are they? Loeb says the answer might be that “‘Oumuamua was an artificial object on a targeted mission towards the sun, aimed to collect data from the habitable region near Earth.” If that was the case, then “tumbling motion of ‘Oumuamua could potentially have been meant to scan signals from all viewing directions.” Furthermore, “‘Oumuamua could have arranged to appear as coming from the neutral local standard of rest, which serves as the local “galactic parking lot,” so that its origin would remain unknown.”

While “Galactic Parking Lot” would make a great name for a prog rock album, Loeb’s theory sounds plausible. However, he states that he’s not trying to prove ‘Oumuamua is an alien ship retrieving probes – he just wants the scientific community to devote more time, and be more openminded, to collecting and analyzing data on UAPs. To wit, he issued a second Scientific American op-ed this week addressing this.

“A fresh scientific study that offers reproducible evidence for UFO sightings and resolves their nature would demonstrate the power of science in answering a question that is clearly of great interest to the public. Finding a conclusive answer on the basis of open data will enhance the public’s confidence in evidence-based knowledge.”

Not only should we “learn something new and exciting from studying them scientifically,” we could also determine “the meaning behind its existence—the intent of those who manufactured it.” And, if even one is extraterrestrial, we’ll finally know if they’re malevolent or benevolent.

Long-Awaited UFO Report Opens the Door Wider to Sharing Strange Aerial Sightings

After months of anticipation, U.S. intelligence experts have released a report citing 18 incidents since 2004 in which unidentified flying objects — or unidentified aerial phenomena, to use the Pentagon’s term — appeared to demonstrate breakthrough technologies.

The nine-page, unclassified version of the report doesn’t describe the incidents in detail, and doesn’t attribute them to aliens. But it does say they’re not linked to existing U.S. military technologies.

The point of the report, produced by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in response to a congressional mandate, is to assess the potential threat posed by the anomalous aerial phenomena reported by U.S. military fliers over the years, whether you call them UFOs or UAPs.

Intelligence experts said they didn’t have enough data to get a firm fix on the nature of 143 out of 144 UAP reports that were filed between 2004 and this March. The one case they said they could resolve “with high confidence” was attributed to a large, deflating balloon.

Their conclusion was that UAP sightings should get more attention.

“UAP pose a hazard to safety of flight and could pose a broader danger if some instances represent sophisticated collection against U.S. military activities by a foreign government or demonstrate a breakthrough aerospace technology by a potential adversary,” the report said. The experts said they “currently lack data” to indicate any of the anomalous incidents actually pose such threats.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who spearheaded the push to get the report, hailed its release and agreed with its conclusions.

“For years, the men and women we trust to defend our country reported encounters with unidentified aircraft that had superior capabilities, and for years their concerns were often ignored and ridiculed,” he said in a statement. “This report is an important first step in cataloging these incidents, but it is just a first step.”

Rubio said the Department of Defense and the U.S. intelligence community “have a lot of work to do before we can actually understand whether these aerial threats present a serious national security concern. “

The Pentagon has been involved in UFO studies for decades, going back to the aftermath of the 1947 Roswell UFO incident.

For decades, such incidents were traditionally written off as misinterpretations of run-of-the-mill atmospheric or astronomical phenomena, or occasionally as stray sightings of aerial operations for military purposes. But UFO reports have been taken more seriously in recent years, thanks to the work of a hush-hush Pentagon task force that came to light in 2017.

Revelations about the task force, and about a series of anomalous videos captured by Navy jets, prompted Rubio and other lawmakers to seek an official report from the intelligence office.

The report said most of the reported anomalies probably do represent actual physical objects rather than mere glitches, given that 80 of the 144 anomalies cited in the report showed up on multiple sensors.

“There are probably multiple types of UAP requiring different explanations based on the range of appearances and behaviors described in the reporting,” the report said. The basic types could be broken down into “airborne clutter” such as birds, drones or debris; natural atmospheric phenomena; developmental programs conducted by the U.S. government or commercial industries; foreign adversary systems; and a catch-all bin for “other” phenomena.

The report highlights 18 incidents, described in 21 reports, where observers reported unusual movement patterns or flight characteristics.

“Some UAP appeared to remain stationary in winds aloft, move against the wind, maneuver abruptly, or move at considerable speed, without discernable means of propulsion,” the report said. “In a small number of cases, military aircraft systems processed radio frequency (RF) energy associated with UAP sightings.”

Those cases will be the subject of further analysis, the report said.

According to the report, the Pentagon task force will take steps to expand its database of unidentified aerial phenomena, including anomalies reported to civilian authorities. To deal with a bigger database, the task force plans to take advantage of data analytics, including artificial intelligence tools such as machine learning, to identify and classify UAP reports more efficiently.

The report said the task force “has indicated that additional funding for research and development could further the future study of the topics laid out in this report.”

In advance of the report’s release, U.S. government officials were cagey about discussing whether any UAP reports could be traced to alien technology. “We have no clear indications that there is any non-terrestrial explanation for them — but we will go wherever the data takes us,” one unnamed official told NBC News.

Now that the public version of the report has been released, Michael W. Hall, director and founder of a Seattle-based UFO study group known as UFO i Team, said the outcome fell short of his expectations.

“They’re limiting their study set,” Hall said. “All of the other testimony from civilians is thrown out the window, and of course the aviators aren’t going to say much.”

He didn’t expect today’s report to attribute any of the UAPs to aliens, but he did expect it to take a “baby step” by acknowledging that alien explanations couldn’t be ruled out.

“This is not even the baby step,” Hall said. “This is just the baby lifting its head up.”

Just moments ago, the long-awaited report by the Pentagon on 144 instances of UFOs, or as they say Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon, concludes that 143 of the cases looked at defied any sort of earthly explanation. They could not be connected to any military or technology program to any government of any nation on the face of the Earth. In short, the Pentagon has just admitted that UFOs existing outside of human technology do in fact exist.

This was their perfect moment to step up to the plate, and once and for all state that UFOs do not exist and that there is a reasonable and logical explanation for the dozens and dozens of sighting by USAF and Navy jet pilots. But they could not do that because there is no earthly explanation for what you see in those videos. In typical governmental fashion, they dodged the question at hand, refusing to answer it while at the same time refusing to put the issue to rest. Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

FROM THE US OFFICE OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE: The limited amount of high-quality reporting on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) hampers our ability to draw firm conclusions about the nature or intent of UAP. The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) considered a range of information on UAP described in U.S. military and IC (Intelligence Community) reporting, but because the reporting lacked sufficient specificity, ultimately recognized that a unique, tailored reporting process was required to provide sufficient data for analysis of UAP events.

• As a result, the UAPTF concentrated its review on reports that occurred between 2004 and 2021, the majority of which are a result of this new tailored process to better capture UAP events through formalized reporting.
• Most of the UAP reported probably do represent physical objects given that a majority of UAP were registered across multiple sensors, to include radar, infrared, electro-optical, weapon seekers, and visual observation.

In a limited number of incidents, UAP reportedly appeared to exhibit unusual flight characteristics. These observations could be the result of sensor errors, spoofing, or observer misperception and require additional rigorous analysis.

There are probably multiple types of UAP requiring different explanations based on the range of appearances and behaviors described in the available reporting. Our analysis of the data supports the construct that if and when individual UAP incidents are resolved they will fall into one of five potential explanatory categories: airborne clutter, natural atmospheric phenomena, USG or U.S. industry developmental programs, foreign adversary systems, and a catchall “other” bin.

UAP clearly pose a safety of flight issue and may pose a challenge to U.S. national security. Safety concerns primarily center on aviators contending with an increasingly cluttered air domain. UAP would also represent a national security challenge if they are foreign adversary collection platforms or provide evidence a potential adversary has developed either a breakthrough or disruptive technology.

Consistent consolidation of reports from across the federal government, standardized reporting, increased collection and analysis, and a streamlined process for screening all such reports against a broad range of relevant USG data will allow for a more sophisticated analysis of UAP that is likely to deepen our understanding. There is something strange on Google Earth map and its a black object I found in Russia. The object first appears in the road and then in other locations, but its shape and color also change. Then some people disappear along the way which makes me think of missing time and possible alien abductions. This black UFO is similar in shape, size and texture to that which was followed by the US Navy aircraft and we see in released US gov videos. 

 

As I looked further into it, I searched around and found a similar, but different shaped and colored object near a car. It really seems like its the same object but in a new location. Its possible this may just be a blowing deflated black balloon or black bag, but how could it change its color so well and how could it just disappear as the Google car drove past it? The missing people and time leaps, make me believe this is a cloaked alien drone, invisible to the human eye, but caught by the more perfect digital eye of Google Earth map camera. Very  irritating and difficult to decide on what exactly we are looking at. It could be a UFO or it could be a BFO (balloon, bag) its impossible to access with only a few images in time. But I believe it to be an alien drone due to it changing color, distance, shape and texture of the craft.

Beenderen van onbekende oermens gevonden in Israël

In Israël hebben vorsers de beenderen van een tot nu toe onbekende oermens gevonden. Die leefde tot ongeveer 130.000 jaar geleden in de Levant, zo deelt de universiteit van Tel Aviv mee.

De overblijfselen van de oermens, die Nesher Ramla Homo genoemd werd door het vorsersteam, werden in de omgeving van Ramla, bij Tel Aviv, gevonden. Het nu ontdekte type stamt uit het Midden-Pleistoceen. Het vertoont gelijkenissen met resten van andere oermensen die in Israël en Eurazië gevonden werden en die ongeveer 400.000 jaar geleden leefden. 

"De ontdekking van een nieuwe groep van oermensen in deze regio, die op de bevolking van de voorouders van de neanderthaler in Europa gelijkt, zet de heersende stelling op de helling dat de neanderthaler uit Europa afkomstig is", zo klinkt het in de mededeling van de universiteit. Het wijst er eerder op dat "minstens enkele voorouders van de neanderthaler uit de Levant kwamen". De wetenschappers  stellen hun werk in het vakblad Science voor. 

Uit de vondst van de beenderen kan worden afgeleid dat twee groepen van oermensen in de Levant meer dan 100.000 jaar lang zij aan zij leefden. Ze deelden kennis en werktuigtechnologie. De Nesher Ramla Homo leefde 400.000 jaar geleden in de regio en de homo sapiens kwam later, ongeveer 200.000 jaar geleden. Latere vondsten geven aan dat beide groepen zich ook vermengden.

Langverwacht UFO-rapport van Pentagon: “Geen verklaring voor 143 UFO-waarnemingen”

Een belangrijk rapport van de Amerikaanse overheid over UFO-waarnemingen stelt dat medewerkers van defensie en de inlichtingendiensten over onvoldoende informatie beschikken om te bepalen wat de mysterieuze vliegende voorwerpen zijn die de voorbije jaren werden waargenomen door militaire piloten. Mogelijk gaat het om geavanceerde technologieën van aardse oorsprong, atmosferische gebeurtenissen, of voorwerpen van buitenaardse afkomst, klinkt het.

Het rapport, dat werd ingediend bij het Congres en werd vrijgegeven voor het grote publiek, omschrijf 144 observaties sinds 2004 die de overheid officieel omschrijft als “niet-geïdentificeerde luchtfenomenen”, afgekort UAP’s (unidentified aerial phenomenons, red.), de nieuwe term voor UFO’s. Het rapport werd gepubliceerd door het kabinet van de directeur van de nationale inlichtingendiensten in samenwerking met een taakgroep van de marine.

Het document beschrijft onder andere enkele UAP’s waarvan al eerder beelden werden verspreid. Het gaat om videobeelden die gemaakt werden door piloten van de Amerikaanse marine, waarop te zien is hoe vliegende toestellen voor de Amerikaanse oost- en westkust een ongekende snelheid en manoeuvreerbaarheid vertonen en bovendien geen zichtbare aandrijving of besturing hebben.

Veiligheid in gedrang

“UAP’s vormen duidelijk een probleem voor de vliegveiligheid en kunnen een uitdaging vormen voor de nationale veiligheid van de VS”, aldus het rapport, dat eraan toevoegde dat er waarschijnlijk geen eenduidige verklaring is voor het fenomeen. “In een beperkt aantal incidenten leken UAP’s naar verluidt ongewone vliegeigenschappen te vertonen. Deze waarnemingen zouden het resultaat kunnen zijn van sensorfouten, spoofing, waarnemers of een verkeerde waarneming, en vereisen een aanvullende diepgaande analyse”, klinkt het verder.

Buitenaards fenomeen?

Op de vraag of er mogelijks een buitenaardse verklaring is voor de observaties, antwoordde een hooggeplaatste regeringsmedewerker tijdens een persbriefing dat het niet aan de taakgroep is om te zoeken naar buitenaards leven. “Van de 144 meldingen waarmee we hier te maken hebben, hebben we geen duidelijke aanwijzingen dat er een buitenaardse verklaring voor is, maar we bekijken waar de data ons heen leidt”, voegde hij eraan toe.

Het rapport stelt vijf categorieën van mogelijke verklaringen voor: “airborne clutter” (vrij vertaald als zwevende rommel, red.), natuurlijke atmosferische fenomenen, ontwikkelingsprogramma’s van Amerikaanse overheden of de Amerikaanse industrie, systemen van buitenlandse mogendheden, en tenslotte de categorie ‘andere’.

Slechts één van die 144 waarnemingen kan verklaard worden door "airborne clutter”. Voor de andere 143 gevallen heeft de taakgroep onvoldoende data om uit te sluiten of het gaat om een van de andere categorieën, aldus Amerikaanse regeringsmedewerkers tijdens de persbriefing over het rapport. “Elke keer wanneer er bezorgdheid is over de vluchtveiligheid of contraspionage, nemen we dat zeer ernstig en we zullen dat blijven doen”, klonk het.

Het rapport werd besteld door het Amerikaans Congres in het kader van een nieuwe inlichtingenwet die in december werd ondertekend door voormalig president Donald Trump.

GIANT OORT CLOUD COMET LIGHTS UP IN THE OUTER SOLAR SYSTEM

Astronomers have spotted the largest comet ever recorded coming from the Oort Cloud. And at 20 times the distance between Earth and the Sun (20 astronomical units), beyond Uranus’s orbit, it’s already venting gas.

New observations, taken on June 22nd with the 0.51-meter SkyGems Remote Telescope in Namibia, reveal “clear cometary activity, with a 15-arcsecond coma,” Luca Buzzi reported this morning on the Minor Planet Mailing List.

A BIG COMET

Astronomers discovered the comet, dubbed 2014 UN₂₇₁, in data collected by the Dark Energy Survey, which recently released data on hundreds of millions of galaxies spread over one-eighth of the sky. Survey computers spent millions of hours automatically searching the entire data set for transient objects moving across the sky. And from 2014 to 2018 one of them was the comet, yielding the orbit reported June 19th in a Minor Planet Electronic Circular.

The orbit immediately drew attention because it showed the comet coming from deep in the Oort Cloud, a group of planetesimals surrounding the Sun at icy distances of about 1,000 to 100,000 a.u. The comet will continue inward almost to the orbit of Saturn before heading back out again. The new observations put it at about magnitude 20, which enables a rough estimate of its diameter of 160 kilometers (100 miles). That puts it at the large end of objects seen from the Oort Cloud, seen as long-period comets by the time they’re visible from Earth. But it’s a lightweight relative to the rest of the solar system, so it could be tossed around by a close encounter with a planet. 

That size isn't enough to make it a dwarf planet, but it is the biggest object from the Oort Cloud that we’ve seen so far. It’s ahead of the modern record-holder, Comet Hale-Bopp (C/1995 O₁), which was only about 60 kilometers across. The Comet of 1729 (C/1729 P1), may have spanned on the order of 100 km; however, it never came much inside Jupiter's orbit, so observers at the time were limited in what they could see.

THE ORBIT

“The orbit we've got [for 2014 UN₂₇₁] is actually quite good,” says Bill Gray of Project Pluto. It's based on 37 observations taken over four years with a 4-meter telescope and the Dark Energy Survey’s DECam high-performance camera. From that data, calculations predict that the comet will reach perihelion on January 23, 2031, at 10.95 a.u., just outside the most distant point of Saturn's orbit. Tony Dunn's Orbit Simulator site shows it approaching at an inclination of 95°.

Aphelion, or the farthest point from the Sun, is much more uncertain because the orbit is extremely elongated and the swing around Saturn will alter its orbit, but Gray says the comet will clearly turn around in the Oort Cloud, and it’s definitely not an interstellar object. When the MPEC orbit was updated with Buzzi’s new observations, the comet's  most recent aphelion was calculated to be 40,000 a.u. and the prediction for the next one became 55,000 a.u. That means the comet took 1.39 million years to reach its present position from the last aphelion, and will take about 2.2 million years going back to the outer edge of its modified orbit, says amateur astronomer Sam Deen.

Gray sees little likelihood of pre-discovery observations because the comet was a little fainter than magnitude 22 when first spotted, and earlier it would have been even fainter. On the other hand, he says, it’s possible the comet will show up in observations taken since 2018.

New, targeted observations will help constrain the comet’s orbit as well as other key characteristics, including its rotation period, satellites, and composition. The behavior of comets is notoriously difficult to predict, but this one is getting off to a very early start, and many more telescopes will be turned toward it in the coming months and years.

A Newly-Discovered (Almost) Dwarf Planet Will Come Surprisingly Close in 2031

It’s good to remember how little we know about the outer solar system.  Humans only really began observing it within the past 100 years, and given the constraints on that observations there are still plenty of things we don’t know about.  For example, researchers recently found an object almost the size of a dwarf planet that is inbound to the inner solar system, with an estimated orbital period of over 2 million years, more than six the lifetime of the modern human species.  

The object, known as 2014 UN271 (Bernardinelli-Bernstein), was originally observed in 2014 but first noted on June 19th, 2021 by Pedro Bernardelli and Gary Bernstein, and now has its own Wikipedia page.  The data on the object was collected by the Dark Energy Survey over the course of 4 years, but now new observing platforms are being brought to bear on this novel object.

With those additional observational platforms come additional insights.  Right now, 2014 UN271 is expected to reach its perihelion just outside the orbit of Saturn before returning to the depths of the Oort cloud for another spin around the sun.  Its size is estimated to be between 100 and 370 km wide, making it possibly the biggest Oort cloud object ever observed.  

Having already passed Neptune’s orbit, 2014 UN271 is well on its journey into the inner solar system.  As it draws closer to the sun, astronomers expect it to get the coma and tail characteristic of comets, as its surface starts to evaporate in the heat.  Unfortunately, it likely won’t be bright enough to present a spectacular display like other well known comets.

But it will be closely observed now that its presence is more widely known. There is already talk of potentially sending a mission to rendezvous with it when it reaches its perihelion point in 2031.  Whatever resources are eventually brought to bear on it, its mere existence will serve as an important reminder of how little we know about what’s out  there.

Could Life Exist in the Atmosphere of a sub-Neptune Planet?

Earth is perfectly suited for organic life. It stands to reason then that similar worlds orbiting distant stars might also be rich with life. But proving it will be a challenge. One of the better ways to discover extraterrestrial life will be to study the atmospheres of inhabited exoplanets, but Earth is fairly small for a planet and has a thin atmosphere compared to larger worlds. It will be much easier to study the atmospheres of gas planets, but could such worlds harbor life? A new paper in Universe argues it could.

Exobiologists have long argued that we shouldn’t assume all life in the universe will be on planets similar to Earth. The subsurface oceans of Enceladus and Ganymede could support terrestrial life and Titan has a rich methane chemistry that might support exotic life. But most ideas about life require three main ingredients: energy, water, and a surface.

The first two are pretty obvious. Life needs some kind of energy source to survive, whether it be solar or geothermal, and water is the perfect solution to allow complex molecules to interact. But the requirement of a surface is more subtle. It isn’t needed for life to survive, since lots of organisms can spend their entire life in water or air. Instead, it seems to be necessary for life to arise. Surface chemistry is incredibly good at creating large organic molecules, even in space. It likely takes a rocky surface to create the building blocks of life.

This new paper argues that while surface chemistry might be needed for life to arise in a planetary system, it isn’t needed for life to thrive. The work focuses on warm sub-Neptune worlds. These planets are about 8 – 10 times more massive than Earth and are likely small gas planets with a thick atmosphere but no terrestrial surface. Several of these worlds have been found in the potentially habitable zone of their star, such as K2-18b, which closely orbits a red dwarf star.

The team shows that warm sub-Neptunes such as K2-18b likely have plenty of water and organic molecules needed to create a habitable zone within their atmosphere. And being smaller gas worlds, it is likely that the habitable layer is fairly stable, allowing for any life to remain aloft long enough to reproduce before sinking to the hostile depths below. Similar arguments have been made for the potentially habitable layer of Venus’s atmosphere. But unlike Venus, K2-18b isn’t likely to have a surface. So even though life might survive on a sub-Neptune world, how would it get there?

Here the team argues that asteroids might come to the rescue. If an exoplanetary system has an unstable asteroid belt, meteorite impacts with the sub-Neptune planet and smaller terrestrial worlds would both be common. This cross-pollination could bring life to a gassy world.

Because sub-Neptunes are fairly common and have thick atmospheres, they will be among the first planets we study for signs of life. While the odds of finding life on these worlds might be a bit long, it’s worth taking a look just because we can.

Transparent UFO Filmed in Los Angeles | UFO FIELD RESEARCH ORGANIZATION

STATEMENT :

This UFO was filmed in Los Angeles on a balcony near the 10 freeway, about 1 mile east of the 405 freeway. The UAP in the video was filmed at 8:12 pm. Not sure what this distance was, but it was so far that I couldn't see it with my naked eye. Found it by panning my Nikon P1000 camera across the sky to see if anything would come into view, was also meditating on letting my hand be guided to finding something that I felt was up there. It mostly moved north while occasionally shifting east. I was trying to stay on it in the sky until I accidentally zoomed out and lost it while trying to grab photos of the Unidentified flying object. It was filmed on May 24th, 2021

Long Description of Sighting Report

I gave a description in case number 116466 and forgot to add video and photos this is the same report. I'm not sure what it is or if we have aircraft that do this but I've personally never saw it. Possible orbs in video and photo you be the judge I would appreciate feedback.

I'm no expert or trained pilot or observer so I'm not sure what it is but I've never saw a plane do this and I heard no sound for it to be a helicopter I've uploaded video and photos with what could also be orbs in both. I'd like to hear feedback. Enjoy

Long Description of Sighting Report

At approximately 12:13 am on 06/23/2021 while driving to pick up a customer, I saw a pulsating gold/orange colored round object. What caught my attention was the fact there weren’t any lights as such on an airplane or helicopter would have! I’d seen it fade in and out, and descend at a slow speed. I would immediately get it on film. After watching it for up to a minute and a half it went out and did not seem to reappear!

Entrance To Ancient Pitt Causes Drone To Lose Control And Camera Stop! UFO Sighting News.

This ancient hole is said to have existed for hundreds and maybe thousands of years. The eyewitness who recorded the video calls the Jin...evil spirits that punish those who come too close.  Some aliens species are that way, emotionless so they act as if they don't care, but act on intelligence and logic. 

 

The eyewitness flew an expensive drone camera into the mouth of the pitt and suddenly began to lose control of the craft. He said the drone began swaying back and forth and the controls were becoming weaker and weaker as it went further down. Out of fear of losing the craft all together they pull up...however the camera on the drone froze...giving just a few seconds of video of the bottom. But even after he finished the video, still the camera was on the fritz unable to work. Alien technology often causes our technology to crash and die. For instance a UFO over a car or house might shut it down, turn off the radio or turn off the lights in your house. Alien tech interfered with the drones radio waves and camera causing it to malfunction. 

 

Then he took a microphone and began to lower it into the edge of the pit so that we could hear what he heard come from it. Sounds of water trickling, flowing and birds were evident, but then a crying sound every few seconds and a loud growling also came once in a while. He said the pit often had a bad putrid smell to it, which is a sign demons were within it. Thats also a sign of methane gas...which often comes from living things...like an alien base deep below the ground. I believe that over the last few thousand years, aliens and UFOs have used this hole to exit and enter an underground alien base about 5-6km below the surface. Also, so aliens live in an atmosphere of gasses that would smell putrid to us, but perfect for them.

Pentagon has no explanation for more than 100 UFO sightings

According to the Pentagon’s federal intelligence report, the UFOs seen in recent years by Navy pilots were not secret technology. In addition, he does not rule out that they are alien ships.

The report is the product of a military task force established last year to investigate decades of unexplained aerial sightings in US airspace.

The Defense Department said it wanted to “improve its understanding” of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), also known as UFOs, and determine whether they posed a threat to national security.

The report was ordered as part of an aid package signed by the former US president last year.

Its publication has caused an entire revelation in society because UFO sightings have long been the source of conspiracy theories.

Speculation about the content has been very present in the media before its revelation in Congress on June 25.

What do we know about the report?

Details of the research were first reported Thursday by the New York Times, followed by CNN and the Washington Post.

Those media outlets said they spoke with various government officials about the long-awaited report’s findings.

Officials said that of the more than 120 incidents documented in the past two decades, most were reported by U.S. Navy personnel, while some involved foreign military personnel.

CNN said it spoke to three sources who revealed that the report does not rule out the extraterrestrial activity as a possible explanation in some of these cases.

However, it must also be said that there is no evidence that the aerial phenomena witnessed by Navy pilots in recent years were alien spacecraft.

Citing intelligence officials, CNN said experimental technology from a rival power, such as China or Russia, could explain at least some of the aerial phenomena.

Regardless of the true origin, intelligence officials are concerned about the national security implications of this finding.

NASA will investigate UFOs

Bill Nelson, NASA’s new administrator, has ordered space agency scientists to investigate unidentified flying objects.

The former Florida senator who flew aboard the space shuttle Columbia said there is no evidence yet that aliens have visited Earth, but he doesn’t rule it out either.

“We don’t know if it is extraterrestrial,” Nelson told CNN of the encounters recorded by Navy pilots.

“We do not know if it is an enemy. We do not know if it is an optical phenomenon. We do not believe that it is an optical phenomenon due to the characteristics described by the pilots of the Navy aircraft. And the bottom line is that we want to know. “

NASA press secretary Jackie McGuinness said Nelson has not established an official task force to begin investigating UFOs, but did direct investigators to advance their investigation of the issue.

“This is a really interesting phenomenon and the Americans are clearly interested in it so if scientists want to do research, they should do it,” McGuinness said.

The report is ambiguous and imprecise about the mysterious objects recorded by the Pentagon. But it is still surprising that the possibility that they are of extraterrestrial origin is not ruled out.

And the curious thing of all is that NASA, which has always been skeptical of all sightings, has decided to investigate actively.
