The Great Pyramid Has Endured for Millennia—Scientists Have Finally Decoded the Ancient Engineering Technology That Made It Possible
The Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest and most impressive surviving monument from the ancient world, has long remained an enigma to scholars. One reason is its remarkable resistance to damage from events such as earthquakes, which has helped it endure for thousands of years without significant structural issues.
Now, researchers say they finally understand the ancient technological factors behind the pyramid’s resilience throughout time.
According to new research, the unique frequency at which the pyramid vibrates during earthquakes contrasts significantly with the sands of the Giza plateau on which it rests. This, a new study in Scientific Reports argues, along with the massive structure’s shape and internal design, has all played a part in helping ensure its longevity.
A Marvel of the Ancient World
Khufu’s Pyramid, often simply called the Great Pyramid, is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the sole surviving example. Scholars have maintained a fascination with Giza’s monumental megastructures since antiquity, and debate over the mystery of its construction continues into the present day.
Completed during Egypt’s Old Kingdom (2600–2450 BCE), the Great Pyramid raises a significant question about the structural qualities that have contributed to its longevity. Addressing this aspect of one of the greatest engineering feats of the ancient world, researchers Mohamed ELGabry and colleagues Ayman Hamed, Sakuji Yoshimura, Hesham M. Hussein, Mohamed Maklad, and Asem Salama now say a combination of factors, which include the internal features within the pyramid, all contribute to its success at surviving events that have damaged smaller, more structurally sophisticated monuments in Egypt.
Using Sound to Solve an Ancient Mystery
To help them determine the factors that contribute the most significantly to the longevity of Khufu’s Pyramid, the research team began with an ambient noise survey, which involved horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio analysis at more than three dozen locations throughout the ancient structure, which included chambers within the pyramid, construction blocks, and adjacent soil.
Their approach was not only successful but also revealed surprising insights into the pyramid’s construction, the team says.
Among the most significant discoveries, the team says they found that the pyramid “exhibits uniform fundamental frequencies (2.0–2.6 Hz) with an average of ~ 2.3 Hz across all structural elements,” revealing an extraordinary consistency in terms of the structure’s dynamic characteristics.
Also important, they say, is that the frequency band the pyramid’s structural components exhibit contrasts sharply with the surrounding soil. This is important because it limits the amplification of resonance through interactions between the stone assembly of the structure and its surrounding soil, which the team identifies as “a key mechanism protecting the monument during seismic activity.
Finally, although the team identifies an increase in seismic amplification with respect to the structure’s height, they also found that it “diminishes substantially within the pressure-relieving chambers,” which they interpret as an indication of “how their geometry actively reduces seismic response.”
Ancient Earthquake Impact Reduction
As a final consideration, the team also examined the pyramid’s subsurface foundation, where they calculated the structure’s vulnerability to seismic events.
After determining a very low value, the team concludes that the pyramid’s foundation has an “excellent bearing capacity and minimal earthquake-induced risk,” noting that, in addition to the monument’s resilience over time, its unique structural properties will likely protect it from future damage.
“The low seismic vulnerability index estimated for the foundation soils suggests that any future earthquakes are likely to produce only limited damage to the main pyramid body,” the team reports in their study.
Arguably, the team’s most significant finding is that the pyramid’s ancient builders possessed an exceptionally advanced understanding of the engineering properties behind the stone used in its construction.
“These findings present compelling quantitative evidence that ancient Egyptian architects possessed profound geotechnical understanding, optimizing structure design and site characterization to assure millennial-scale stability against seismic hazards,” the team reports.

Why the Great Pyramid Still Confuses Scientists 🏺 | Egypt’s Unsolved Mystery!
Even Modern Engineers Can't Explain This... (The Great Pyramid Mystery)
“We are moving beyond artificial intelligence that thinks,” Scopelliti writes. “We are entering an era of intelligence that perceives.”
Synthetic Senses
These technologies were first applied in the medical field to help people with disabilities. For example, some AI systems can convert sound into touch, light, or movement, allowing deaf people to understand audio information in new ways. Researchers are developing retinal and neural implants to help restore sight to people who are blind. Another concept known as haptic technology allows people to feel touch from afar by recreating the sensation in real time.
Researchers are developing technologies that Scopelliti calls e-noses and e-tongues to mimic the sensations of smell and taste using digital systems. These tools turn signals from smells and tastes into data that can be studied, saved, and recreated. These sensations, which have been historically difficult to replicate, are now becoming programmable.
“For the first time in history, our senses are no longer confined to biology,” Scopelliti writes. “They can be synthetic, digitized, transmitted, and re-engineered.”
Scopelliti points out that these changes demonstrate that machines are moving from simply recording data to actually sensing the world around them. These technologies are beginning to blur the boundary between biological perception and machine interpretation.
The Impending Surveillance Problem
Today’s AI can predict how someone feels by analyzing their voice, facial expressions, or body language. New wearables and surrounding systems might soon be able to sense changes in mood, focus, or intention from very subtle signals. These tools could help doctors detect mental health risks early, help teachers notice when students lose focus, and enable workplaces to adjust to reduce cognitive overload.
The book also examines the risks associated with these new technologies. Scopelliti says that companies and AI systems are increasingly tracking and recording sensory and emotional data, raising new privacy and ethical concerns. Collecting emotional data raises ethical questions about who owns the information, how people can use it, and how others might misuse or manipulate it.
“As these signals are captured and analysed, new questions emerge,” Scopelliti writes. “Who owns your emotional state? Can your reactions be predicted, and influenced, without your knowledge? What happens when environments adapt to shape your behaviour in real time?”
These concerns are more than theoretical. AI can already track small changes in a person’s voice, skin conductance, or movement and use this data to personalize content and influence their decisions. Scopelliti gives examples of systems that have evolved from simple observation to actively shape people’s choices through this type of emotional data.
Protecting Perceptual Rights
Scopelliti introduces the idea of “perceptual rights” or protections meant to shield people from AI systems that can influence how we feel. He argues that whoever controls what we sense can also shape what we believe. “That makes perception the next frontier of power,” Scopelliti warns.
Scopelliti argues that people have a basic right to accurately perceive reality and that society should recognize and protect that right. “The right to perceive — to see what is real, to feel what is true — is not a luxury,” he writes. “It is the foundation of humanity in free societies.
“We once built machines to extend our physical capabilities,” Scopelliti concludes. “Now we are building systems that extend, and potentially redefine, our senses.”

US government releases UFO sighting reports - 'Orbs swarming in all directions'

US fighter jet shoots down UFO in newly-declassified footage
The Pentagon has released scores of UFO files, with descriptions of reported sightings of orbs, discs and fireballs spanning 80 years.
Witnesses described seeing "green orbs, discs and fireballs" dating as far back as 1948, the files show. More recently, a senior US intelligence officer said he saw "countless orange orbs swarming in all directions" last year, rendering him "speechless".
The fresh batch of materials includes a half dozen documents, a handful of audio recordings and 51 videos, including one of an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) being shot to bits. The circumstances are unexplained.
The files are the second set released after an order this year from US President Donald Trump.
The Pentagon uploaded the first set of 161 files on 8 May, promising there would be more to come. The second was released on Friday.
One of the documents is a 116-page Armed Forces Special Weapons Program report from 1948-1950 that said witnesses had recounted 209 sightings of unidentified objects - orbs and other objects the US government now calls "unidentified anomalous phenomena" (UAP).
The report includes accounts of a series of sightings and investigations in Sandia, New Mexico, where witnesses described how UFOs manoeuvred, flew away and disappeared but then exploded.
In another document, the unnamed "senior US intelligence officer" provided his first-hand account of seeing phenomena from a military helicopter in 2025 at a location listed as the "western United States".
He described spotting mysterious "orange orbs flaring up and down" when investigating "loud thuds heard in the mountains" on a test range where others had spotted UFOs in the preceding days.
The "series of close UAP encounters" lasted for more than an hour, he said. The UAP were "super-hot", low to the ground and moving at high speed.
"They were oval-shaped, orange with a white or yellow centre, and emitted light in all directions," the officer reported. He said the swarm appeared to coalesce as they flared up and down for several minutes, "forming a distinct triangle before vanishing".
He said he did not take any photos because he was too focused on "assessing what it was and whether it posed a threat".
The files do not draw any definitive conclusions about the existence of extraterrestrial life or provide any evidence of alien technology. US officials have said that people could decide for themselves what they show.
Following the first release of files, Trump wrote that "with these new Documents and Videos, the people can decide for themselves, 'WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?' Have Fun and Enjoy!"
US Department of Defense

Most of the videos disclosed on Friday feature grainy footage captured by US military infrared cameras between 2018 and 2023.
In an accompanying description, the Pentagon explained that members of Congress requested the videos in March but that many lacked a "substantiated chain of custody", meaning they could have been tampered with at some point.
One of those videos purportedly shows the shooting-down of a blurry object by a US fighter jet. A description says it happened over Lake Huron in February 2023, around the time that a Chinese surveillance balloon traversed the US, spurring increased scrutiny of UFOs.
The Biden administration ordered the destruction of several unidentified objects at the time, among them what officials described as an octagonal structure with strings attached, which was shot down over Lake Huron near the Canadian border.
Video of another orb says it shows a spherical UAP zooming over the Yellow Sea in 2022.
It's unclear whether the releases of the UFO files have done much to satiate the curiosity of legions of UFO researchers, official and otherwise.
"Let keep digging!" Congressman Tim Burchett, a Republican from Tennessee, wrote in a post on X thanking Trump. Burchett has previously advocated for more transparency on UFO sightings.
When the first tranche of files was made public, he said they represented a "drop in the bucket" compared to what was to come. "I would say 'Holy Crap' is coming."
The Pentagon said additional files will be released on "a rolling basis"

The CIA's Wild West era of mind control, bioweapons and secret human testing is back in the spotlight as lawmakers prepare to revisit the notorious MKUltra program decades after the agency destroyed most of the files.
AJ Gentile, host of The Why Files, who has built a massive audience dissecting UFO lore, government secrecy and hidden history, said Americans have forgotten just how disturbing the CIA's MKUltra experiments really were.
'People versus power, that's what it is,' he told the Daily Mail. 'I don't like authority, I don't like corruption, and I don't like our rights being violated.'
Among the programs Gentile highlighted was Operation Sea-Spray, a covert 1950 experiment in which the CIA released bacteria over San Francisco to study how vulnerable US cities would be to biological attacks.
'They sprayed… they covered San Francisco with bacteria,' Gentile said. 'They did it in New York, too.'
The conversation also turned to the death of CIA scientist Frank Olson, who plunged from a New York hotel window in 1953 after being secretly dosed with LSD by colleagues connected to MKUltra.
Olson's death has long fueled speculation that the government covered up what really happened during the agency's early mind control experiments.
'If nothing happened, why did President Ford give them money and make them sign an NDA?' Gentile said of the government's later settlement with Olson's family.
AJ Gentile, host of The Why Files, who has built a massive audience dissecting UFO lore, government secrecy and hidden history, said Americans have forgotten just how disturbing the CIA's MKUltra experiments really were
A hearing on MKUltra was previously set for May 13, but had been rescheduled days before.
However, former CIA officer James Erdman testified in front of the Senate last week, claiming US intelligence officials seized '40 boxes of JFK and MKUltra files' that were being processed for declassification.
House Oversight Committee members Anna Paulina Luna of Florida and Eric Burlison of Missouri are standing by the whistleblower's claims that the CIA took secret files and marched into CIA headquarters in Virginia to demand the return of the files.
The meeting took place after lawmakers gave the agency just 24 hours to both preserve and relinquish the troves of data.
Burlinson said on X: 'We went to deliver a message, and that message is that this is a new era. This president is demanding disclosure, and we wanted assurances that they are understanding of that and on the same page.'
'That message was received, and we expect to be able to see all of the files for JFK and [MKUltra], etc, and we await these actions.'
The CIA's formative years in the 1950s through the 1970s often drew on a similar 'Wild West' ethos.
Faced with an entirely new global frontier of espionage, operatives frequently relied on rugged individualism, covert sabotage, and swashbuckling field tactics reminiscent of Western folklore.
Pictured is Dr Frank Olson with his wife Alice and their children (L-R) Eric, Lisa and Nils
Gentile highlighted a Church Committee investigation from the 1970s, which exposed decades of intelligence abuses involving surveillance, chemical testing and covert experimentation within the CIA. 'It will make you angry,' he said of the report.
He said the hearing immediately raised red flags for him because the majority of MKUltra documents were deliberately destroyed decades ago.
'It's gone, they were destroyed,' he said. 'So that's why the hearing, to me, is… you've heard the expression, limited hangout? It sounds like a limited hangout to me.'
The term 'limited hangout' refers to the release of partial truths meant to distract from deeper secrets, a concept long associated with intelligence agencies and political scandals.
The CIA officially launched MKUltra in 1953 under director Allen Dulles, with the stated goal of developing techniques for mind control and interrogation during the Cold War.
Thousands of pages later revealed that the agency experimented with LSD, hypnosis, sensory deprivation and psychological abuse, often on unsuspecting Americans.
The program, conducted from 1953 to 1964, aimed to develop procedures and drugs for interrogations, weakening individuals and forcing confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture.
Gangster James 'Whitey' Bulger, a former organized crime boss, was used as a test subject in 1957 while an inmate at the Atlanta penitentiary. He explained he was one of eight convicts in a panic and paranoid state while in MKUltra
Pictured are scientists administering mind-altering drugs in the CIA experiments
A total of 144 projects were carried out under MKUltra during that period, highlighting the vast scale of the CIA's secret experimentation program.
Gentile said one of the most disturbing cases tied to the program remains the death of CIA scientist Frank Olson, who plunged from a New York hotel window in 1953 after being secretly dosed with LSD by colleagues connected to MKUltra.
Olson was one of at least eight men given LSD on November 19, 1953, as part of an MKUltra experiment, Paul Vidich, Olson's nephew, previously told the Daily Mail.
In statements made during a 1977 hearing about the activities of the CIA, according to Gottlieb, a 'very small dose' of LSD was added to the bottle of Cointreau, which was served after dinner.
In the days that followed, Olson became paranoid, barely ate and even threw away his wallet, identification badge and money after believing his boss, Vincent Ruwet, had instructed him to do so.
Olson was scheduled to travel to a mental health facility on November 27. At approximately 2.45am on November 28, 1953, Ruwet received a call from Dr Sidney Gottlieb reporting that Olson had died.
Olson's body was later found outside the Statler Hotel, where he had been staying on the 13th floor.
Operation Sea-Spray was a covert 1950 CIA experiment in which bacteria were released over San Francisco to study how vulnerable American cities would be to biological attacks
Pointing to the government's handling of the case after Olson's death, Gentile said: 'If nothing happened, why did President Ford give them money and make them sign an NDA?'
President Gerald Ford formally apologized to the Olson family in 1975 and invited them to the White House after revelations emerged about the CIA's role in Olson's drugging.
Gentile said the Church Committee findings became even darker when investigators uncovered evidence of continued biological warfare development despite public promises from the government that such programs had ended.
He referenced Operation Sea-Spray, a covert 1950 CIA experiment in which bacteria were released over San Francisco to study how vulnerable American cities would be to biological attacks.
For one week in September of 1950, the US Navy sprayed massive amounts of bacteria into the air two miles off the coast of San Francisco, California.
This secret biological warfare experiment aimed to learn how vulnerable large US cities like San Francisco would be to a biowarfare attack by terrorists.
The bacteria used were Serratia marcescens, which can cause respiratory issues and meningitis, and Bacillus atrophaeus, which can be lethal to immunocompromised individuals. At the time, the Navy believed these bacteria were harmless to humans.
But after inhaling thousands of bacterial spores, 11 people checked into Stanford Hospital near San Francisco with very rare, serious urinary tract infections that doctors ultimately determined were caused by the experiment.
'They covered San Francisco with bacteria,' Gentile said. 'They did it in New York, too.'
Reports have suggested that the CIA may have been involved in 'open air' biological warfare tests in streets and tunnels in the New York City area in 1955 and 1956, according to an analysis of CIA records released in 1979 by the Church of Scientology.
Gentile also pointed to Plum Island, the controversial government research facility off the coast of New York, while discussing theories surrounding Lyme disease and Cold War bioweapons research
A four-month investigation found the CIA allegedly acquired equipment for covert experiments involving the release of unidentified substances through aerosol devices hidden inside suitcases and the exhaust system of a modified 1953 Mercury sedan, according to the Church Committee report.
Gentile also pointed to Plum Island, the controversial government research facility off the coast of New York, while discussing theories surrounding Lyme disease and Cold War bioweapons research.
'Eric Traub was brought in to create that facility,' he said, referring to the German scientist accused of overseeing Nazi biological warfare research during World War II.
Traub later worked with the US government after the war as part of America's recruitment of former German scientists during the early Cold War.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr has also suggested Lyme disease may have originated from a failed US bioweapons program in the 1970s tied to research at Plum Island.
Plum Island is an 840-acre island off the northeastern coast of Long Island, New York, and home to the Plum Island Animal Disease Center, a government lab used since the 1950s to study infectious animal diseases.
However, the Department of Homeland Security has repeatedly said Lyme disease was never studied at the facility.
Gentile said public distrust toward intelligence agencies is rooted in decades of secrecy that many Americans either never learned about or dismissed as conspiracy theories.
'Most Americans don't know what MKUltra is,' he said. 'We think everybody does, because we like this stuff. But my neighbors, if I say that to my neighbors, they won't know what that is.'
He also claimed programs tied to psychological manipulation never truly disappear once they begin.
'Once a program starts, it never really stops,' Gentile said. 'Psychic spies or MKUltra, it just never stops.'
SpaceX's Starship V3 rocket rises from its Texas launch pad. (SpaceX via X)
SpaceX's next-generation Starship V3 rocket got off to a glorious start for its first test flight, and although not all of its engines fired fully according to plan, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the mission "scored a goal for humanity."
This was the 12th Starship launch, but the first one since SpaceX completed a thorough redesign of the rocket's Super Heavy first-stage booster, the second stage (known as Ship), the Raptor rocket engines and the launch facilities at SpaceX's Starbase in south Texas.
Super Heavy lit all 33 of its Raptor V3 engines at liftoff, and successfully sent Ship on its way over the Gulf of Mexico. But after stage separation, Super Heavy shut down its engines prematurely. As a result, the booster tumbled through the atmosphere to an uncontrolled but safe splashdown in the gulf. SpaceX had planned for a controlled splashdown but hadn't planned to recover the booster, so it was no great loss.
Only five of the six Raptor engines on the second-stage Ship remained lit for the next phase of the test flight. "I wouldn't call it a nominal orbital insertion but ... it's within bounds," SpaceX commentator Dan Huot said.
During the coast phase of the mission, SpaceX had to pass up an opportunity to try relighting one of the engines in space. It was, however, able to follow through with the deployment of 20 satellite simulators, plus two "Dodger Dog" satellites that were modified to test new technologies for SpaceX's Starlink V3 satellites.
One of the modified satellites captured video looking back at Ship as it drifted away, and then transmitted the video back to Earth via SpaceX's Starlink network. Huot said the video monitoring procedure would come in handy for making in-space inspections of Ship's heat shield during future flights. "That's one we've been chasing for a while, so [it's] really cool to see it," he said.
About an hour after launch, Ship made a fiery atmospheric re-entry over the Indian Ocean. Onboard cameras showed the glow of superheated plasma surrounding the rocket stage, followed by occasional flashes of flame. In the moments just before splashdown, Ship fired up two of its Raptor engines — as opposed to the three that would typically be used for a landing — and flipped itself upright just in time for the end.
When the rocket hit the water, it burst into flames. Meanwhile, hundreds of SpaceX employees watching the webcast burst into applause. "USA, USA, USA!" they chanted.
"We guaranteed excitement at the beginning of the show, and I would say Starship delivered," mission commentator Jake Berkowitz said.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was quick to congratulate his team for "an epic first Starship V3 launch and landing."
"You scored a goal for humanity," he wrote in a posting to X.
SpaceX's team members emphasized that they didn't expect everything to go right the first time. "This is a flight test," Huot said. "We're trying to intentionally find where our limits are."
The day before, SpaceX had to postpone launch when a pin on the launch pad's quick-disconnect arm failed to release itself properly. Engineers made changes to the ground-system software and hardware — including some welding at the pad — to fix the issue for today's launch.
The 407-foot-tall Starship V3 is slightly bigger than the previous version of SpaceX's super-rocket, but the biggest changes are on the inside. Here are a few highlights of the redesign:
Streamlining the design of the methane-fueled Raptor V3 engines and increasing their liftoff thrust from 507,000 to 551,000 pounds per engine. Super Heavy is now capable of 18 million pounds of liftoff thrust, which makes it more than twice as powerful as the Apollo-era Saturn V or its modern-day successor, NASA's Space Launch System.
Putting an integrated hot-stage ring between the booster and the second stage, which is expected to streamline reusability.
Replacing the previous four stabilization fins on Super Heavy with three larger, heavier grid fins, which should improve control and durability.
Beefing up Starship's satellite deployer, which is nicknamed the "Pez Dispenser." The deployer is designed to deal out as many as 60 Starlink V3 satellites per mission.
Installing shorter "chopsticks" on the launch tower, which is expected to make it easier to catch Starship's stages when they fly themselves back to the launch pad.
Fortifying the base of the pad and improving the flame-diverter system, which should cut down on the time and energy required for post-launch refurbishment.
In the near term, SpaceX is banking on the Starship system to facilitate the expansion of its Starlink satellite broadband network — which is currently the only profitable part of the SpaceX's business, according to documents filed this week in preparation for the company's initial public offering.
A modified version of Starship is due to serve as the lunar lander for NASA's Artemis 4 mission, which is currently scheduled for as soon as 2028. NASA is already deep into preparations for an Artemis 3 mission that's aimed at testing the Starship lander and/or Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander in low Earth orbit next year.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman alluded to that mission today on SpaceX's webcast. "We're looking forward to meeting up next year in Earth orbit," he said.
In the longer term, Musk envisions creating a fleet of Starships that could transport thousands of spacefarers to settlements on Mars. SpaceX hasn't yet scheduled any Mars missions — but this week, crypto investor Chun Wang announced that he intends to be on Starship's first Mars flyby, whenever it takes place. "It will light the fire. It will ignite the imagination, and it will build the momentum," he said.

Chinese-born cryptocurrency investor Chun Wang has become the latest deep-pocketed space enthusiast to set his sights on a trip around Mars. But first, he wants to take a ride around the moon on SpaceX's Starship. And SpaceX is willing to work with him.
Wang shared his ambition during a SpaceX webcast focusing on the first attempt to launch a next-generation Starship V3 rocket from SpaceX's Starbase in Texas for a test flight. The launch attempt had to be called off due to technical difficulties with ground equipment, but SpaceX could try again as soon as May 22.
During a lull in the countdown, the webcast team cut to an interview with Wang, who was speaking from Bouvet Island, a rugged nature reserve in the South Atlantic Ocean that's been called the world's most remote island. It was an apt setting for a conversation about Wang's out-of-this-world idea.
Wang already qualifies as a space traveler: Last year, he headed up a privately funded mission that sent him and three other crew members into polar orbit in a SpaceX Dragon capsule for three and a half days. SpaceX launch commentator Dan Huot said Wang is already back in line to take on "the first interplanetary mission on a Starship," even though the rocket is still in testing mode and hasn't yet made a single orbit around Earth.
"It's going to be a flyby mission of Mars," Wang said. "A lot of people are talking about how Mars will be like: 'We're going to fly to Mars, we're going to land on Mars, we're going to build a city on Mars.' But let's get this started with a flyby. ... It will light the fire. It will ignite the imagination, and it will build the momentum."
No timetable was given for the mission, but SpaceX said the round trip would take two years. Wang wasn't worried about getting bored during the cruise to and from the Red Planet. "This is actually my style of fireworks," he said. "I can stare at the map view on airplanes all the way from takeoff to landing. So I think I will enjoy the trip."
Wang was born in China in 1982 but became a citizen of Malta in 2023. He played a role in founding two cryptocurrency ventures, F2Pool and Stakefish, and his net worth was said to be somewhere around $300 million as of last year.
As a warmup for the Mars flyby, Wang said he intends to join California engineer/investor Dennis Tito and his wife, Akiko Tito, on a Starship trip around the moon. SpaceX says that weeklong mission would come within 200 kilometers (120 miles) of the lunar surface and advance the development of Starship's systems for deep-space, long-duration missions.
"Even though it's just a flyby, it will try a lot of things that have never been attempted before," Wang said of the round-the-moon mission.
In 2013, Tito proposed a 501-day mission that would send a man and a woman around Mars. At first, he suggested that he'd be willing to fund at least part of the mission, but a couple of months later he said that NASA would have to take the lead role in what he called a "philanthropic partnership with government." NASA demurred.
The next billionaire to look into leading a space mission beyond Earth orbit was Yusaku Maezawa, who made his fortune after founding Zozotown, Japan's largest online fashion mall. Maezawa teamed up with SpaceX in 2018 on a plan that would involve sending the billionaire and a crew of artists and performers around the moon on Starship. As part of the deal, Maezawa committed to paying SpaceX an undisclosed amount to support Starship's development. But he canceled his plans in 2024, citing delays in SpaceX's timeline.
"It's a developmental project, so it is what it is, but it is still uncertain as to when Starship can launch," Maezawa said at the time. "I can't plan my future in this situation, and I feel terrible making the crew members wait longer, hence the difficult decision to cancel."
Since then, NASA sent four astronauts around the moon for the Artemis 2 mission, which is said to have cost $4.1 billion.
Will Wang's plan for a Mars flyby go further than Maezawa's plan for a moon trip? Or will NASA have to be calling the shots (and paying most of the bills) for any mission that goes out that far? Maybe Wang should compare notes with Tito and Maezawa.

Nature forces lifeforms to adapt to its conditions. That is a basic fact behind natural selection. From that perspective, it makes sense for engineers to learn from creatures that have adapted.
This is true of robotics, as researchers use biomimicry to overcome problems. In the case of Mars rovers, we've relied on wheeled vehicles to traverse the planet's surface. Now German researchers are using an unusual animal's locomotion system to inform the design of new rover wheels. The animal in question is called the sandfish skink. The sandfish skink is a species of lizard known for its ability to travel through sand as if its swimming.
A team of researchers at University of Würzburg have been working on rover wheels that mimic the sandfish's ability to swim through sand. Prof. Marco Schmidt leads the Embedded Systems and Sensors for Earth Observation (ESSEO) group at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. It's part of the VaMEx initiative of the German Aerospace Centre.
"Conventional wheel designs are often optimised for driving at low speeds and tend to slip, sink or get stuck on soft ground," says Amenosis Lopez, a researcher working with Professor Schmidt.
Since the new wheels don't really roll, they don't struggle as much, and outperform typical wheel designs in testing.
"The wheels mimic the animal’s characteristic interaction with the ground, generating both longitudinal and lateral forces," Lopez said. "The rover leaves sinusoidal tracks in the sand – this confirms that the intended swimming mechanism has been achieved."
“The experiments also provided us with clear pointers for improvements,” said Professor Schmidt. The first sandfish wheels were both narrower and heavier than conventional wheels, and they tended to slip and to sink into the sand. But the new design overcomes these problems by being both lighter and wider, leading to the improved performance on sand.
But Mars rovers have more than just sand to contend with. There's also rocky terrain, pebbled terrain, and mixed terrain. Making the sandfish wheels perform on all of these surfaces is a work in progress.
“Further refinements to the wheel surface are likely to further improve performance on mixed terrain,” the researchers explained.
The Rosalind Franklin rover is the ESA's next mission to Mars, and it's scheduled to launch in 2028. But since that rover design is already finalized, it won't use the swimming sandfish wheels.
Beyond that, the ESA is targeting another mission to the Martian surface in 2035. This is the most favourable launch date in the next decade because of Earth's and Mars' relative positions to each other. The ESA and its member states are in the very early stages of developing this mission, and as things stand now, the ESA has never successfully landed a spacecraft on Mars.
This future mission is aimed at developing key technologies for precision landings, so that will take priority. But if the ESA does succeed and successfully land a rover on Mars, there's a chance it will feature the sandfish wheels. By that time, the design should be perfected.

In Turkey last week an eyewitness noticed a wheel craft in the sky. Basically the wheel is a UFO disk on its side. Sightings of these wheel UFOs goes back to biblical times. In 593 BC Ezekiel was among the Jewish captives living in Babylon near he Kebar River when he saw the vision of a UFO wheel in the sky. So...wheel UFOs or disks on their sides...nothing new at all. History says so. And the sound this eyewitness describes of it moving fast, sounding like a laser in a movie...thats 100% proof this is a real alien craft.

At 9:00 PM, I went out to my balcony for some fresh air and noticed an object in the sky. I initially mistook it for a star, but just as I was about to turn away, it suddenly changed position with incredible speed, making a sound similar to a laser.I continued to watch it; it moved in a circular pattern before coming to a stop in one spot. The object resembled a "yo-yo" with a ring-like outer structure. I could not tell if the material was metallic or not, but the structure was distinct.

Watch this strange shaped UAP moving about in an almost windless day. The eyewitness was meditating and thinking of UFOs and summoned an alien craft from the sky, it dropped down turning...searching for the person summoning it, then it sees the person, hovers a bit than flies away. It behaves in a way most UFOs summons behave. This was a real UFO, and the fact he summoned it through telepathic mediation makes it even more exciting since hundreds of documented cases have experienced UFOs when using telepathic focus...including me.

I was in my backyard, I looked up and noticed a cigar shaped object flying the the sky, rotating randomly, and keeping the same height. I’ve recently been practicing remote viewing and attempting to summon extraterrestrial, not even 100% confident that what I’m doing is real. Today after 30 minutes of meditation and trying to call something in, I go outside, keep my eyes on the sky’s, and sure enough this object that overall was cylindrical, and seeming to stay on a direct course while also just rotating and flailing around in the sky, but in all opposite directions, as if the wind wasn’t the cause. Eventually it flew out of distance and I would say it seemed as though it was higher then it was when it originally flew over my head.

Guys check this out. An eyewitness caught a glowing orb flying over the neighborhood in Ohio last week. The orb glow has a bright cross emanating from its center and it turns on a dime. The lights were not blue and green as drones have, but instead pure white, which is listed on many UFO reports coming from Project Blue Book files. This my friends, is 100% real and I kid you not...made by aliens.

For almost 50 years,Steven Spielberg has been fascinated by stories involving extraterrestrial life, and with Disclosure Day, it sounds like he’s trying to raise the bar for himself all over again.
The filmmaker’s latest sci-fi thriller reunited him with longtime collaborator David Koepp, and according to the screenwriter, Spielberg pushed this project harder than anything they’ve worked on together before. In fact, the screenplay went through 42 drafts during development.
That marks a personal record for Koepp, whose résumé already includes massive films like Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and multiple Indiana Jones movies.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, Koepp explained: “[Spielberg] was more exacting than I’ve ever seen him because he knows he’s worked in this area before. He wants this one to be the best one.”
Mark Hamill Holds Lightsaber After 35 Years!
Koepp said Spielberg first brought him a 38-page treatment for the film, which he described as a “further exploration” of the themes Spielberg tackled in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He also compared the movie’s tone to a paranoid thriller from the 1970s, which feels perfectly in Spielberg’s wheelhouse.

Spielberg also opened up about working with Koepp again, praising the writer’s flexibility throughout production. “[Koepp]’s a good collaborator because he listens as much to me as I do to him,” Spielberg added, noting that the writer is willing to rework a script “including and often through principal photography.”
That creative process clearly became intense if they were still reshaping the story while filming. But honestly, hearing Spielberg obsess over an alien movie this much only makes the project sound more exciting.
Universal has kept most of the story under wraps, but the official synopsis offers a cryptic tease: “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to Disclosure Day.”
The film stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell. Spielberg is producing through Amblin Entertainment alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger, with Adam Somner and Chris Brigham executive producing.
Disclosure Day hits theaters June 12 from Universal Pictures.

The Trump administration's second wave of UFO disclosures has revealed a chilling series of mysterious sightings near America's principal nuclear weaponsinstallation during the earliest years of the Cold War.
Newly released documents tied to Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, headquarters of the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project, the military successor to the Manhattan Project, detail at least 209 reports of unexplained aerial phenomena between December 1948 and May 1950.
The files describe bizarre 'green fireballs,' glowing discs and unidentified objects streaking across the skies near sensitive atomic facilities as intelligence officers scrambled to determine whether the incidents posed a national security threat.
One report warned that the frequency of the sightings had become so alarming that military and government intelligence agencies agreed an 'organized plan of reporting these observations should be undertaken.'
Scientists and military investigators were so disturbed by the incidents that they launched airborne particle-collection missions in hopes of discovering physical evidence connected to the mysterious objects.
The documents reveal that investigators detected unusual copper-bearing particles in airborne dust samples after one fiery object exploded over New Mexico in July 1949.
Researchers even debated whether the strange material drifting through the atmosphere could have originated from the unidentified 'fireballs' seen over the desert skies.
In one extraordinary passage, investigators admitted that if the copper particles truly came from the glowing objects, 'then the fireballs are not conventional meteorites.'

The bombshell records were part of the latest UFO document release published by the Department of War as part of President Donald Trump's disclosure initiative involving unidentified aerial phenomena, also known as UAPs.
Among the most striking files was a May 25, 1950 intelligence summary from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations describing repeated sightings across New Mexico during a period when Sandia Base served as one of the nation's most sensitive nuclear weapons hubs.
The report explained that military and intelligence officials became increasingly alarmed after waves of unexplained aerial sightings began appearing near atomic research and weapons facilities.
'The frequency of unexplained aerial phenomena in the New Mexico area was such that an organized plan of reporting these observations should be undertaken,' the report stated.
Sandia Base handled military aspects of America's nuclear weapons program following World War II. The newly released files repeatedly reference Sandia Base's connection to 'Special Weapons' operations and inspections tied to Strategic Air Command nuclear facilities.
Several reports focused on mysterious 'green fireballs' repeatedly observed over New Mexico during 1949.
One detailed scientific investigation, dated August 10, 1949, outlined attempts by researchers at the New Mexico School of Mines to collect airborne particles associated with a fireball seen over Socorro, New Mexico, on July 24, 1949.
Investigators used special equipment capable of collecting microscopic airborne material in the hope that debris from the unexplained object might still be floating in the atmosphere.
Newly released documents tied to Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, detailing at least 209 reports of unexplained aerial phenomena between December 1948 and May 1950
According to the report, researchers found 'a large number of copper-bearing particles' in one collection sample taken along Highway 84 north of Route 66.
Scientists described the material as unfamiliar granular particles, some measuring up to 30 microns across, while others appeared as opaque solid fragments.
Another report noted that investigators found 'remarkable' spherical particles showing strong cobalt indications, with some particles described as 'perfect spheres' roughly 12 microns in diameter.
The documents repeatedly stressed the uncertainty surrounding the strange material.
'It seems very hazardous to draw any definite conclusion associating the copper-bearing particles collected with the fireball,' one report cautioned.
Still, the reports acknowledged that the possibility could not be dismissed.
One intelligence memo stated that if future studies proved the particles were truly falling from the 'green fireballs,' then the objects could not be explained as ordinary meteorites because copper was 'one of the rarest of the elements found in meteorites.'
The files also reveal that investigators considered deploying high-altitude aircraft above 40,000 feet to intercept material falling from the mysterious objects shortly after sightings occurred.
Researchers believed rapid-response airborne missions could potentially capture particles directly from the objects' atmospheric trails before contamination from terrestrial dust occurred.
One memo described plans for aircraft to fly through the exact atmospheric region beneath the objects' flight paths 'as soon as possible after the occurrence' of future incidents.
The newly released files stop short of concluding the objects were extraterrestrial, but they make clear that Cold War military and scientific officials viewed the incidents seriously enough to involve intelligence agencies, meteor specialists and classified weapons personnel.
The disclosures are likely to intensify long-running speculation surrounding Sandia Base and New Mexico's so-called 'Nuclear Triangle,' where UFO sightings have repeatedly been linked to America's nuclear weapons infrastructure for decades.

BREAKING: Pentagon RELEASES 2nd batch of UFO files | RISING
New UFO Files Dump Reveals ‘Mystery Green Orbs’, Strange Sightings On Apollo 12 Mission | Watch
NOTE PETER 2011 I am still putting this article from May 21 on my blog. In the meantime, the Pentagon has released a second release of UAP videos. On this blog, you can find several articles about the content of the release again. Best regards
A new batch of Pentagon videos and other records related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) is expected to soon be released by theDepartment of War, with many anticipating their arrival by week’s end.
Although the existence of the videos has been discussed publicly on several occasions by lawmakers in recent weeks, a complete listing of the collection of AARO UAP videos, along with preliminary titles and descriptions of some of the footage, was initially disclosed earlier this year in a letter from Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) to U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
“The continued lack of transparency surrounding these anomalies and the potential national security threat they pose is troubling,” Luna’s letter, dated March 31, 2026, reads.
According to Luna, the existence of “additional video records of potential UAP sightings” came to the attention of Luna’s Task Force as a result of whistleblowers who participated in a September 29, 2025, hearing related to UAP transparency. “To continue its investigation, the Task Force requests certain video files related to UAP sightings,” Luna explained to Hegseth in the letter.
Indications of a Forthcoming Release?
The imminent arrival of the videos, originally requested for release by Luna “as soon as possible but no later than April 14, 2026,” is now anticipated by as early as Friday.
On Thursday, the official page on the Department of War’s website for the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) featured no additional videos or documents beyond those included with the original release, which appeared on May 8, 2026, when the page went live.
However, the heading originally titled “Release 01” that appears in the page’s navigation bar is now missing the “01,” seemingly indicating that preparations for a new batch, tentatively titled “Release 02,” are likely underway.
Update: Thursday, May 21, 2026: Some visitors to the Department of War website also reported throughout the day that, for a short period, the site’s file listing showed up to 140 blank pages. As of 7:23 p.m. Eastern, only the original number of files associated with “Release 01” is available on the site.
What To Expect in the PURSUE “Release 02”
Based on the original list of videos detailed in Luna’s letter from March, along with some descriptions and imagery associated with the videos that have been disseminated prior to their complete authorized release, a few details about what the videos are expected to reveal can be discerned.
One video that Luna and her Task Force have requested reportedly depicts a formation of four unidentified objects flying over an unspecified region in Iran, observed on August 26, 2022.
Another video, reportedly captured in 2021 over Syria, appears to show an object that seemingly displays “instant acceleration,” a capability that would require overcoming several fundamental laws of physics.
While unusual—or even seemingly impossible—physical maneuvers can often be attributed to camera motion and other artifacts arising from the conditions under which such videos are obtained, there are indications that there could be other intriguing footage in the forthcoming batch, a few of which may display a key capability that has increasingly been attributed to some UAP during military observations.
Unidentified Submerged Objects and “Transmedium” UAP
According to AARO, UAP sometimes represent more than just aerial phenomena, with its official definition including “sources of anomalous detections in one or more domains (i.e., airborne, seaborne, spaceborne, and/or transmedium) that are not yet attributable to known actors and that demonstrate behaviors that are not readily understood by sensors or observers.”
Intriguingly, at least some of the files expected in the forthcoming release include videos that purportedly show objects exhibiting what the military characterizes as “transmedium” capabilities, with the objects, described as “USOs” (unidentified submerged objects), reportedly observed both in and out of water.
In at least one of the two USO videos, several spherical objects observed in near proximity to a U.S. submarine on March 25, 2022, are reportedly observed both “in and out of water” in the AARO footage.
Another video, dubbed “UAP USO formation Wiley 2X Zinc,” reportedly shows a different formation of unidentified objects that may be displaying transmedium capabilities.
Spheres Take Center Stage
Several of the videos requested by Luna and other lawmakers reportedly feature what appear to be spherical objects, a common shape class that has been frequently reported by military personnel in recent years, as well as historical reports involving aerial phenomena.

(DOD/AARO).
One video, obtained on November 23, 2020, appears to show a spherical object operating in airspace over Afghanistan as it moves “in and out of clouds.” Another spherical object, filmed in 2022, reportedly displays “erratic movement” frequently attributed to such objects, while in a separate video, a spherical UAP is said to have been observed “pulsing” as it passed over a body of water.
Finally, in an incident that occurred on April 12, 2021, a series of three videos was obtained by U.S. personnel depicting a spherical object of unknown origin.
AARO officials have previously expressed interest in this class of objects. In one incident in 2022, an MQ-9 Reaper UAS operating in the Middle East recorded video of a spherical object using its onboard electro-optical sensor. “The object’s characteristics and behavior are consistent with other ‘metallic orb’ observations in the region,” according to a short summary of the footage included in a 2025 AARO mission brief available at its website.
Tic Tacs, Flying Cigars, “Fast Movers”
Spherical objects aren’t the only objects that make appearances in the videos AARO has obtained. Several other varieties of UAP that are commonly recognized from historical accounts are reportedly featured in the videos, which include elongated “cigar” shapes such as the “Tic Tac,” a designation first attributed to an unusual object captured by an FA/18 Super Hornet Pilot during training exercises off the Baja California Coast in November 2004.

(Image Credit: U.S. Department of Defense).
One of the new videos describes a “cigar-shaped or fat spherical UAP” observed on October 15, 2022, while another appears to describe a case in which a United States Coast Guard EADS HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft observed a Tic Tac-shaped object with its high-definition forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensor system.
Another video that could be in the forthcoming release involves a trio of “fast moving UAPs” that were observed by U.S. personnel on October 29, 2020. The term “fast mover” is recognized as slang for “fighter jet,” while similar terminology, such as the variant “Fastwalker,” is also occasionally used in relation to UAP sightings.
New Details on the Eglin Air Force Base UAP?
Some of the videos expected in the forthcoming release may offer additional details about UAP incidents that are already well known and for which case resolutions have been produced during AARO’s investigations.
One video in the forthcoming tranche, designated “IIR 1 665 SO301 23/Eglin AFB,” appears to refer to a January 26, 2023, incident involving a U.S. military pilot who observed four objects flying in a diamond formation over the Gulf of Mexico. At the time of the sighting, the pilot claimed that several of his aircraft’s onboard capabilities malfunctioned, requiring them to manually capture imagery of the object.
In a case resolution report on the incident following AARO’s assessment, investigators concluded that the UAP “very likely was an ordinary object and was not exhibiting anomalous or exceptional characteristics or flight behaviors,” concluding that the object the pilot filmed may have been a lighting balloon.

However, AARO’s resolution report added that it had only “moderate confidence in this assessment due to the limited data provided,” a conclusion that drew criticism from even some of the more skeptical UAP investigators.
“The lighting balloon hypothesis always felt like something someone at AARO liked, but wasn’t really supported by much evidence,” skeptic Mick West told The Debrief following the publication of AARO’s report on the incident.
Another of the videos in the forthcoming release was captured by a U.S. Air Force F-16C pilot (callsign AESIR11) during a widely publicized incident that occurred on February 12, 2023, where an object was shot down over Lake Huron with an AIM-9X Sidewinder missile.
According to former AARO director Sean Kirkpatrick, this incident had been one of several involving objects that were later determined to have been hobbyist balloons that were shot down in early 2023, as Kirkpatrick revealed during a recent presentation he gave at the Center for Naval Analyses on April 27, 2026.
Looking Ahead: Cooperation with AARO Continues
Luna has also conveyed to her followers on social media in recent days that the review process required for the release of the new videos was underway, with cooperation from AARO officials.
In a posting on her official X account on May 15, 2026, Luna appeared in a photograph alongside current AARO director Jon Kosloski and Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.), writing that they had just completed the review of “40+ videos set for declassification” by the Department of War, which could be expected “in the coming weeks” as of the time of posting.
“We are standing with the NEW and very QUALIFIED Director of AARO who now has my full support and has proven through action that he is working in good faith on declass efforts,” Luna wrote.
It remains to be seen whether all the videos Luna has requested will be released, although a few glimpses of footage allegedly from the forthcoming batch have already appeared on social media in recent days.
Should the requested tranche of AARO UAP videos arrive in time for the unofficial, but widely anticipated deadline, The Debrief will provide additional reporting on the release of those records, along with any new information they may contain.

A West Virginia man's stunning claims to police have deepened the mystery surrounding a haunting town where the government conducts secret surveillance work and UFO sightings are common.
Clinton Wayne Nelan, 33, was arrested at his home near Kerens on May 17 after officers said he allegedly misused the emergency telephone system and also harassed neighbors by falsely claiming he was a police officer from Louisiana.
The Randolph County Sheriff's Office noted that Nelan had made multiple phone calls to 911 dispatchers, claiming that he had seen 'zombies, ghosts and a UFO at his residence.'
The officers sent to check out Nelan's story ultimately concluded that none of what he claimed was true and took him into custody for allegedly making false reports to 911 and impersonating a law enforcement officer - both misdemeanors.
Several people commented on the arrest report, which was posted by police on social media, claiming that Nelan has been suffering from mental health issues.
Despite there not being any proof of zombies, ghosts and UFOs near Nelan's home, this is not the first time these types of claims have been made within this region of West Virginia.
Nelan's home sits within an area called the National Radio Quiet Zone, a region used by the US military and intelligence community for top-secret monitoring of foreign communications and by astronomers searching for extraterrestrial life.
Over the years, there have been numerous unverified reports of UFO sightings, people experiencing 'lost time' and others suffering strange sensations described as paranormal.
Clinton Wayne Nelan (Pictured) was arrested in West Virginia for allegedly making false claims to 911 and impersonating a police officer
Pictured: The Green Bank Telescope. The incident involving Nelan took place within an area known as the National Radio Quiet Zone, where UFOs have previously been spotted
The National Radio Quiet Zone is a 13,000-square-mile area stretching into both Virginia and West Virginia, where cellphones and Wi-Fi are banned.
The massive blackout zone was created to protect the Green Bank Observatory, a key US facility for major radio telescopes.
The area, established by the US government in 1958, enforces tight restrictions on radio transmissions to guard against the sensitive scientific and military receivers encountering radio frequency interference (RFI).
However, this work has given Green Bank, West Virginia, the heart of the National Radio Quiet Zone, the nickname the 'quietest town in America.'
Due to this 'haunting' quiet, one theory has tied Nelan's alleged paranormal encounters with zombies and ghosts to a strange condition caused by the lack of regular electronic signals.
Since these invisible waves are so heavily restricted in the area, it has become a haven for those with a condition the Green Bank Observatory has recognized called electromagnetic hypersensitivity.
These individuals are reportedly so sensitive to the appearance, or 'hauntings,' of stray electromagnetic waves that it causes them to have physical symptoms of a serious illness.
In a statement, officials at the observatory described electromagnetic hypersensitivity as 'a condition purported to be a debilitating sensitivity to the electromagnetic waves emitted by Wi-Fi routers and cellphone towers.'
The National Radio Quiet Zone is a 13,000 square mile region which restricts cellphone and Wi-Fi usage due to work by the military and astronomers
Pictured: A UFO sighting by a US Air Force Reaper drone between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Similar UFO sightings have taken place over West Virginia
'Its sufferers report experiencing headaches, nausea, nosebleeds, sleep problems and other symptoms they believe are connected to exposure to such waves,' Green Bank Observatory added.
The town closest to Nelan's home, Kerens, has seen multiple reports of UFO sightings in recent years, centered in the nearby city of Elkins.
According to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), multiple residents in Elkins spotted unknown flying objects described as star- and orb-shaped.
One witness in 2004 told NUFORC: 'It looked like two very large stars shaped like rectangles and lightly covered by a cloud. It was a completely clear night with no other clouds at all.'
'The "stars" seemed to be pulsing slightly, and the "nebula" surrounding them began to grow larger and disperse over the next 15 minutes.'
In 2010, another UFO witness reported seeing three small, white orbs in a triangular formation. They appeared as very bright stars and were flying independently below the clouds.
'These were much too small and fast to be even military aircraft. There is no military air base near here, though the lights were in the airspace above our small local airport,' the witness said.
'The maneuvers were like that of an aerial dogfight, but all movements were rather fluid, albeit extremely fast and precise.'
Meanwhile, there have also been anecdotal accounts of people seeing UFOs within the zone experiencing 'missing' or 'lost' time, where they have no memory of what happened to them for several hours.
The phenomenon has been a common claim among those who alleged that they were abducted by aliens, often saying they have no memory from the time when they encountered a UFO or extraterrestrial to a moment several hours later when they are suddenly sitting in a car or their home as though nothing had happened.

UFO Activity Surges Across the U.S. | Unidentified: Inside America's UFO Investigation
Fossilized trees standing upright through massive layers of rock across the US are reigniting debate over whether the biblical Great Flood really happened.
Known as 'polystrate fossils,' the formations consist of ancient tree trunks that extend vertically through multiple layers of sedimentary rock, some layers believed to have formed millions of years apart.
Prominent examples have been discovered in Yellowstone National Park, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park, the eastern coal fields spanning Tennessee, Kentucky and Pennsylvania and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.
Researchers with Noah's Ark Scans, a group searching for evidence of the biblical ark, wrote on X Wednesday: 'A dead tree doesn't stand upright for millions of years waiting for sediment to slowly build around it. It rots. It collapses.
'These trees appear to have been rapidly buried by massive sediment flows before they could decay.'
Supporters of the biblical flood theory believe the widespread discovery of these upright fossilized trees could point to a sudden catastrophic event capable of rapidly burying entire forests beneath enormous sediment flows, similar to the flood described in the Book of Genesis.
According to the Bible, God instructed Noah to build an ark before unleashing a flood that covered the Earth, wiping out nearly all life except Noah, his family and the animals sheltered aboard the massive vessel.
The biblical account states rain fell for 40 days and 40 nights while underground 'fountains of the deep' burst open, eventually covering even the highest mountains before the waters later receded.
However, mainstream geologists and paleontologists do not consider polystrate fossils evidence of a global flood or proof of the biblical account in Genesis.
Fossilized trees standing upright through massive layers of rock across the US are reigniting debate over whether the biblical Great Flood really happened
Pictured is a fossilized tree broken in half
Scientists argue the fossils can form through rapid local burial events that occur repeatedly over long geological timescales, including volcanic eruptions, river flooding, mudslides and shifting sediment in swamp environments.
Many researchers point to the 1980 eruption of Mount St Helens as a modern example of how trees can be rapidly buried upright in sediment during catastrophic natural events without requiring a worldwide flood.
Regardless, the Noah's Ark Scans researchers said: 'The fossil record looks a lot more like the catastrophic world described in Genesis than the slow evolutionary timeline we’ve been sold.'
The post has sparked a debate on X, with one user saying: 'The world is not as old as "scientists” want us to believe. And the Genesis Flood was an actual event. The fossil record proves once again the accuracy of Scripture.'
While others dismissed the biblical theory, saying the fossils are not evidence of a biblical flood, but rather the result of repeated natural disasters.
However, even some mainstream geologists have acknowledged that polystrate fossils point to periods of extremely rapid sedimentation.
Derek Ager, an emeritus professor of geology at the University College of Swansea in the mid-to-late 20th century, argued that the upright fossilized trees could not have remained standing for the vast spans of time traditionally associated with slow sediment buildup.
In his writings, Ager noted that if sediment accumulated at a constant, gradual rate, it would have taken roughly 328,000 years to bury a 33-foot-tall tree, an idea he described as 'ridiculous' because the tree would have decayed long before burial was complete.
Known as 'polystrate fossils,' the formations consist of ancient tree trunks that extend through multiple layers of sedimentary rock, some layers believed to have formed millions of years apart
Instead, Ager concluded the evidence suggested sedimentation was 'at times very rapid indeed,' even if the surrounding rock layers appear visually uniform and continuous.
While Ager did not support biblical creationism, advocates of the Great Flood theory frequently cite his comments as evidence that at least some geological formations may have formed far more quickly than traditionally believed.
Creationists have long argued that polystrate fossils are difficult to reconcile with slow geological processes because many of the trunks extend through multiple rock layers while remaining largely intact.
Critics of the theory, however, argue that sediment layers can accumulate rapidly during localized events while still occurring within an ancient Earth timeline.
Creation scientist and trained robotics engineer Ian Juby recently discussed the fossils on his website, explaining: 'The rock layers are called ‘strata’ and the fossil cuts through more than one, hence the name ‘poly’ for many and ‘strate’ for the strata the fossil cuts through.
However, mainstream geologists and paleontologists do not consider polystrate fossils evidence of a global flood or proof of the biblical account in Genesis
'Polystrate fossils are found literally all over the world.'
He has also argued that polystrate fossils challenge the idea that sedimentary rock layers formed slowly over millions of years.
Pointing to fossil sites such as Joggins Fossil Cliffs, Juby claimed many upright fossilized trees show signs of rapid burial, including broken roots, upside-down trunks and compressed plant material embedded throughout multiple sediment layers.
He argued the fossils appear more consistent with a sudden catastrophic event involving enormous volumes of water and sediment than with gradual geological processes occurring over vast periods of time.

Millions watched in awe earlier this year as NASA's Artemis II crew completed a daring trip around the moon – but it seems not everyone was convinced.
A viral video has captured the painfully awkward moment a conspiracy theorist accosted the astronauts on Capitol Hill.
Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen were confronted by an aggressive man who accused them of faking the moon mission.
'Stop lying! Stop acting! You all never went to space,' the man shouted as he filmed himself approaching the crew.
The befuddled crew simply stood in uncomfortable silence as the man berated them, apparently trying their best to pretend he wasn't there.
The man continued: 'Follow Jesus! God's watching you all!'
As Glover smiled and gave an uneasy wave, he went on: 'Stop lying to the public! Your psyop isn't working on millions of us! NASA's a joke!'
The Artemis II crew were hastily ushered away, yet the pursuing conspiracy theorist continued to hurl abuse, adding: 'Repent before God, y'all! I see through your lies! I know you never went to space! God's watching you all!'
A viral video has captured the painfully awkward moment a conspiracy theorist accosted NASA's Artemis II crew on Capitol Hill, claiming that the moon mission was a fake
The tense encounter was reminiscent of a similar run–in between Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin and the moon–landing denier Bart Sibrel in 2002.
Mr Aldrin, who was 72 at the time, ended that particular argument by punching Mr Sibrel in the face.
However, the Artemis II crew managed to keep cooler heads during their altercation with the conspiracy theorist.
On X, space fans praised the astronauts' composure, jokingly pointing out Christina Koch's rather confused expression.
One commenter wrote: 'Christina was too stunned to speak by this level of stupidness.'
Another added: 'She had to smile through that VEEERY awkward moment.'
And another bluntly wrote: 'They're so polite, I'd smack him in the face.'
While the vast majority of social media users were shocked by the wild claims about fake space missions, a few internet–dwelling conspiracy theorists hailed this unknown individual as a hero.
The crew, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch (front), and Jeremy Hansen (back), kept their composure and even forced a bemused smile as they were berated

CALLING THEM OUT IN THE CAPITAL....100%' wrote one conspiracy account on X.
Another said: 'Artemis II astronauts being called liars to their faces. Love it.'
And one chimed in: 'We know!!!! How much did you guys get paid??? You are a mockery to the world!!!'
Thankfully, claims that the Artemis II mission was faked are easily debunked by the vast quantities of evidence collected by the crew.
However, online conspiracy theorists hailed the unknown man as a hero and celebrated his confrontation with the NASA crew
Psychologists say that the Artemis II mission has attracted so much scepticism because it touches on key issues that attract conspiracy theories, such as powerful government organisations and space exploration
Dr Daniel Jolley, an expert on the psychology of conspiracy theories from the University of Nottingham, told the Daily Mail: 'The Artemis II mission touches on several themes that commonly attract conspiracy theories.
'Space exploration is complex, highly symbolic, and led by powerful institutions, which can make it a target for suspicion among some groups.'
Additionally, there is already a long history of conspiracy theories targeting NASA and the moon landings, which a high–profile mission like Artemis II can 'reignite'.
While some conspiracy theorists, such as the one who accosted the Artemis II crew, frame these theories in religious terms, Dr Jolley points out that this is not an essential component.
'Conspiracy theories sometimes take on a religious angle because they frame events in moral terms,' he says.
'However, it is important not to overstate this connection, as most religious people do not endorse conspiracy theories.'
Unsealed UFO documents released by the Trump administration today revealed a minute long video of a bright spherical orb racing across the sky at lightning speed.
The video, dated January 2023, appears to show a glowing ‘UAP in the clouds’ captured by a military infrared sensor above the Yellow Sea, between mainland China and the Korean Peninsula.
The Trump administration released the second trove of UFO files on Friday containing 46 classified videos requested by lawmakers earlier this year.
The videos files were considered so sensitive that officials worked tirelessly to keep them sealed once lawmakers verified their authenticity.
The first batch of photographs and documents were unsealed in early May, containing 162 State Department cables, FBI documents, transcripts of NASA flights into space and more.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth previously said that the Trump administration was working towards full UAP 'transparency' as the government continues to release documents to the public.
The move came after the Pentagon's UFO office previously claimed that it had 'found no verifiable evidence that the US government or private industry has ever had access to extraterrestrial technology' in a controversial report.

The terrifying UFOexperience of a senior US intelligence officer has been revealed for the first time in the Trump administration's latest disclosure release.
In 2025, the unnamed officer came face-to-face with mysterious 'orange orbs' that soared near their helicopter, as they and colleagues were on a secret mission to 'investigate loud thuds heard in the mountains on the test range.'
What began as a routine search for debris from weapons testing quickly escalated into what the officer described as 'a series of close UAP encounters lasting over an hour.'
At one point, ground teams tracking the objects on infrared cameras reportedly spotted a 'super-hot' object moving at high speed before suddenly splitting into two separate craft and changing direction.
Moments later, according to the report, one of the objects rose from the ground and flew within just 10 feet of the helicopter before dropping below the aircraft and accelerating away at extreme speed.
The pilots watched through night-vision goggles as the object split apart again, with a smaller craft emerging from the larger orb before both vanished into the darkness.
Fighter jets were later deployed into the area, where the same glowing objects allegedly appeared directly above the aircraft in formation.
'We were virtually speechless after these observations,' the official concluded in their report.

The official and crew were tasked with investigating UFO reports that had surfaced from the mountain range over the previous several nights.
They spotted debris on the ground, determining it was remnants of rockets and other projectiles that had crashed during weapon testing on the range.
As the crew began heading back to homebase, they received a message from the Joint Operations Center (JOC), saying radar had picked up 'hits' in the same area as the mysterious activity was reported the night before.
'I relayed this to the pilots, and we altered course to intercept,' the intelligence officer wrote.
'What followed was a series of close UAP encounters lasting over an hour.'
The report then states that the grounds team spotted 'super-hot' UFOs flying close to the ground, 'and moving east to south at high speed,' and split into two.
The official received a radio from the ground team, saying the object had risen from the ground, soared just 10 feet away from the helicopter and then sped off.
'We briefly pursued but broke off, unable to match its speed,' reads the officer's statement.
This is a developing story... More updates to come.
In 2025, the unnamed officer came face-to-face with mysterious 'orange orbs' that soared near their helicopter, as they and colleagues were on a secret mission to 'investigate loud thuds heard in the mountains on the test range' (stock)
Minutes later, the JOC directed the helicopter crew toward fresh radar detections several miles away, where they spotted what the intelligence officer described as ‘countless orange orbs swarming in all directions’ against the mountainside backdrop.
Hovering roughly 700 feet above the ground, the crew allegedly watched two glowing oval-shaped objects suddenly appear beside the helicopter, remaining stationary just above the aircraft’s rotor blades.
According to the report, the mysterious objects glowed orange with white or yellow centers and emitted light in every direction.
Seconds later, additional orbs reportedly appeared beneath the first pair, forming a bizarre ‘T’ formation before dimming one by one and disappearing into the darkness.
The encounter lasted only ten to 15 seconds, but the intelligence officer wrote that the objects were so close to the helicopter that the pilots briefly considered making an emergency landing.
Soon afterward, fighter jets entered the area during a training mission, and the crew claimed the same glowing objects appeared directly above the aircraft in horizontal formations, matching the jets’ speed and flight path.
The officer remarked that the mysterious orbs appeared to be ‘chasing’ the fighters as they crossed the restricted airspace.

The Top 10 UFO Encounters Revealed From the Second Wave of Pentagon Declassified Files
Declassified video shows 'erratic' spherical UAP over Europe
By CHRIS MELORE, DEPUTY SCIENCE EDITOR FOR DAILYMAIL.COM
The Trump Administration has released a fresh wave of UFO files, including the moment a US fighter jet appeared to open fire and shoot down a mysterious object flying in American airspace in a fiery explosion.
The stunning footage from the Pentagon captured the seconds before and after an F-16 fighter jet launched an air-to-air missile at the unidentified craft over Michigan's Lake Huron.
Infrared cameras caught the instant the small craft with round or diamond shape and jagged tail was struck by what the Pentagon called a US 'weapons system' on February 12, 2023.
The object was seen exploding during the violent collision, sending countless pieces of shrapnel in all directions.
In the military's description of the incident, officials said: 'The footage appears to depict a kinetic interaction between two distinct areas of contrast, with the initial subject of the footage fragmenting in a radial displacement pattern that suggests a high-energy event.'
In simpler terms, the Air Force used kinetic weaponry, the technical term for missiles, to strike the UFO, causing it to 'fragment' or break up into several pieces after the high-energy explosion.
In a letter demanding the release of the new videos in March, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna confirmed that the weapon used was a AIM-9X 'Sidewinder' missile.
The new footage was one of 46 new videos released on Friday by the Pentagon-led committee put in charge of disclosing America's UFO files to the public.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said in a Friday statement: 'The Department of War is in lockstep with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency regarding our government’s understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena.'
'These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation, and it’s time the American people see it for themselves. This release of declassified documents demonstrates the Trump Administration’s earnest commitment to unprecedented transparency.
The new tranche of files appeared on the Department of War website just before 8am ET, featuring chilling audio from the Apollo 12 crew, which reported mysterious objects while in space.
The dump also included reports of glowing orange orbs swarming around a military helicopter, mysterious ‘fireballs’ that triggered airborne particle hunts in New Mexico and intelligence documents describing unidentified aerial phenomena near a Soviet weapons-testing range.
So far, the Pentagon has released over 200 files related to UAPs, which have long been an object of public fascination, following the directive from Trump.
Officials noted, however, that many of the records lacked a fully verified chain of custody, raising questions about how the materials were obtained and authenticated.

According to the report released by the Pentagon, the F-16C 'Fighting Falcon' sent to intercept the UFO was part of the US Air National Guard, the air force branch of the National Guard.
This group is a part-time reserve force made up of pilots, aircraft mechanics and support personnel who fly fighter jets, cargo planes, refueling tankers and other aircraft.
The F-16 typically carries up to six air-to-air missiles, including the Sidewinder and the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile.
The UFO file does not state why the fighter jet was scrambled or from what air base. It is unclear if the wreckage seen in the video was recovered from Lake Huron and if it was analyzed to determine its origin.
Along with troves of military footage released on Friday, chilling audio emerged from a medical debrief involving the crew of Apollo 12, the second group of astronauts to land on the moon in 1969.
Astronauts Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean described seeing mysterious flashes and streaks of light in the darkness of space while trying to sleep during their mission.
NASA later concluded that the strange phenomena were caused by internal visual effects experienced by the astronauts rather than light sources outside the craft.
However, previous radio transcripts from both the Apollo 12 and 17 moon missions, released in the first wave of UFO files in May 8, revealed more strange sightings of unknown objects in space while the astronauts were on the lunar surface.

The confirmation of the US military opening fire on an unidentified flying object over Michigan marked the latest incident involving the Air Force and a mysterious craft.
Last year, during a bombshell UFO whistleblower hearing, members of Congress were shown video from an October 2024 encounter involving a US military drone and an orb-shaped UFO off the coast of Yemen.
Congressman Eric Burlison of Missouri revealed never-before-seen footage of the UFO being struck by a Hellfire missile from the drone and surviving the impact.
The black-and-white video captured the 100-pound air-to-ground precision weapon bouncing off the mysterious orb, which continued traveling at extreme speed.
The video also appeared to show several fragments of the orb break away during the impact but continue to fly next to the UFO.
Before the UFO files started to be disclosed on May 8, the US government had maintained for decades that there has been no physical proof that alien spacecraft or extraterrestrials exist.
However, government whistleblowers have continued to claim that the US military has been secretly running covert programs aimed at recovering and reverse engineering crashed UFOs from around the globe.

The newly released records stem from a March 6, 2026 request by eight members of Congress seeking access to 51 potentially UFO-related files allegedly held by the Department of War and the US intelligence community.
Officials noted, however, that many of the records lacked a fully verified chain of custody, raising questions about how the materials were obtained and authenticated.
So far, the Pentagon has released over 200 files related to UAPs, which have long been an object of public fascination, following the directive from Trump.
Trump posted on Truth Social, saying: 'In an effort for Complete and Maximum Transparency, it was my Honor to direct my Administration to identify and provide Government files related to Alien and Extraterrestrial Life, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, and Unidentified Flying Objects.
'Whereas previous Administrations have failed to be transparent on this subject, with these new Documents and Videos, the people can decide for themselves, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" Have Fun and Enjoy!"'
The 46 videos were requested by Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna in April, giving Hegseth a deadline of April 14, which was not met.
Since then, Luna and other lawmakers have been pushing to get the clips to the American public.
Several clips capture bizarre ‘orb’ formations swarming around US military aircraft, including incidents in which glowing objects appeared to split apart, pulse over water or accelerate at extreme speeds that pilots allegedly struggled to explain.
One video, labeled ‘Syrian UAP instant acceleration,’ shows an unidentified object making a sudden burst of speed in Syrian airspace during a 2021 military operation, while another references a ‘spherical UAP’ weaving in and out of clouds over Afghanistan in November 2020.
The files appeared on the Department of War website just before 8am ET. Above is a photo of mysterious objects uploaded to a classified network in June 2024
Several videos are connected to repeated ‘Hackney 6’ and ‘Toxic 6’ incidents in 2020, in which military crews allegedly observed fast-moving UAPs over the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Arabia, including one case involving dual UFOs maneuvering near an MQ-9 drone.
Another clip, titled ‘UFOs in formation over Persian Gulf,’ appears to reference multiple objects flying together in coordinated patterns, while others describe ‘erratic movement’ and glowing spheres hovering stationary before rapidly disappearing.
In newly unsealed UFO documents released by the Trump administration on Friday, chilling audio emerged from a 1969 medical debrief involving the Apollo 12 crew.
Astronauts Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean described seeing mysterious flashes and streaks of light in the darkness while trying to sleep during the mission.
NASA later concluded that the strange phenomena were caused by internal visual effects experienced by the astronauts rather than external light sources.
The release also included a document detailing at least 209 sightings of 'green orbs,' 'discs' and 'fireballs' reported near a military base in Sandia, New Mexico, from 1948-1950.
The base was part of the Armed Forces Special Weapons Program (AFSWP), which was the direct, post-World War II successor to the Manhattan Project to manage the military aspects of nuclear weapons.
