Rare Noah's Ark Mosaic Uncovered in Ancient Synagogue in Israel

Mosaics depicting prominent Bible scenes were uncovered during annual excavations of an ancient synagogue in Israel's Lower Galilee.

During the excavation in June, archaeologists found two new panels of amosaic floor in a Late Roman (fifth-century) synagogue at Huqoq, an ancient Jewish village. One panel showed Noah's ark with pairs of animals, such as lions, leopards and bears. The other panel depicted soldiers being swallowed by large fish, surrounded by overturned chariots in the parting of the Red Sea.

Such images are extremely rare for the time period, according to excavation director Jodi Magness, of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, whose work was funded by the National Geographic Society. [Photos: Unusual Mosaics Decorated Ancient Synagogue in Israel]

"I know of only two other scenes of the parting of the Red Sea in ancient synagogues," Magness told National Geographic.

"One is in the wall paintings at Dura Europos [in Syria], which is a complete scene but different from ours — no fish devouring the Egyptian soldiers," Magness said. "The other is at Wadi Hamam [in Israel], but that's very fragmentary and poorly preserved."

The Noah's ark mosaic included pairs of animals, such as lions, leopards, bears, and donkeys.

The ark scenes are also uncommon; Magness said she knows of only two other mosaics showing such depictions.

Along with a team of university scholars and students, and the Israel Antiquities Authority, Magness has excavated at Huqoq since 2012. Previous mosaic discoveries have depicted Bible scenes such as Samson and the foxes and Samson carrying the gate of Gaza on his shoulders.

The Huqoq excavations revealed the first nonbiblical mosaic found in an ancient synagogue. That three-tiered mosaic included a scene showing a meeting between two important male figures, thought to be the legendary meeting between Alexander the Great and the Jewish high priest.

These previous discoveries were uncovered in the synagogue's eastern aisle, and the researchers were uncertain whether the mosaics would continue into the nave, the large central area of the synagogue. However, the excavations did, indeed, reveal the Red Sea and Noah's ark mosaics.

"This panel is exactly as it should be," Magness said of the ark mosaic. "It's facing north, so people could see it as they entered from the south," where the main door would have been located.

Excavations at this site also uncovered coins spanning 2,300 years.

"The ancient coins … are critical for our knowledge of the monumental synagogue and the associated village," Nathan Elkins, a member of the research team and a professor of art history at Baylor University, said in a statement.

As is the case after each excavation season, the researchers will remove the uncovered mosaics for conservation and backfill the excavated areas. Excavations are scheduled to continue in the summer of 2017.

The story of Noah’s Ark and the Great Flood is widely known, many old religions around the world share this myth, but with slim cultural differences. From India to ancient Greece, Mesopotamia and some North American tribes, few legends have survived the centuries without significant changes according to their culture, leading us to believe that there has been a global cataclysm that afflicted every culture of those days.

 

The Great Flood and Noah’s Ark is not mentioned only in the Book of Genesis, like it was commonly believed, as new related clues are revealed in the Dead Seas Scrolls.

 

The Dead Seas Scrolls are probably the greatest archaeological and biblical find, ever recorded in our history, the Bible itself being one large historical chronicle. The ancient scrolls are rather an archive of major events and mentions of symbolic personalities that had a massive influence over the history that took place in the last 2000 years.

 

Since their discovery almost 50 years ago by a Bedouin shepherd in the Qumran Caves of the Judean Desert, scientists have channeled all their knowledge to the restoration and deciphering of the 800 manuscripts that may hold unimaginable secrets that could shake the foundations of our most fundamental beliefs.

Of the 800 scrolls, 200 comprise portions of the Hebrew Bible text and the rest are being thoroughly analyzed by the Israel Antiquities Authority within the Leon Levy Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Library Project. Using a custom-made camera, tens of thousands of scroll fragments have been scanned, each fragment being photographed 28 times at high resolution, with several different wavelengths of light. Thanks to nowadays’ sophisticated technology, archaeologists are able to read symbols and words that until recently were simply unintelligible hieroglyphs.

 

The newly digitized scroll fragments scanned by Dr. Alexey Yudistky, revealed some unexpected details of well-known biblical stories that have been released to the world wide public: Noah’s Ark was shaped like a pyramid. This was concluded after the correct translation of a word following the phrase “the ark’s tallness”, that was illegible until now: “ne’esefet”, meaning “gathered”, thus the ark’s ribs were gathered together at the top in the shape of a pyramid.

 

In addition to this evidence, a Greek translation of the bible called “the Septuagint”, dating from the 3rd century, described the Ark using a verb with a similar meaning of “gathered”. Medieval scholars like Maimonides also suggested that the Ark’s roof was pointy, a trait of a pyramidal shape.

Skeptics thought to be a mere bedtime story to feed one’s imagination, but now they have strong reasons to reconsider, as Noah’s Ark and the Great Flood are no longer just a biblical story. The Dead Sea Scrolls clear the controversia around this legendary event, since Christos Djonis claimed in this articles “Evidence of The Great Flood – Real or Myth?” that this was no fiction at all.

 

The lack of evidences is due to the archaical timeline, being estimated that the ocean levels started to stabilize after 7000 BC. Only between 6000 BC and 5000 BC, have been recorded signs of human activity near the shorelines. This span of 1000-2000 years of this complete human absence is most like due to the primitivity that made their existence untraceable, but luckily, we are the proof of man’s ability to get back on the course of evolution.

 

Overall, the light shed on the story of Noah’s Ark is tremendous news for those who seek the truth, for as the answers will come, more aching questions will rise in their ardent minds.

Did NASA Discover Alien Life on Titan?

When it comes to alien lifeforms in the Solar System, Titan – the largest moon of Saturn is one of the most likely candidates.

Whenever considering the possibility of finding alien lifeforms in the universe, scientists are mostly focusing their search power on exoplanets, or celestial bodies that have the optimal conditions for liquid water to form. With this rapidly growing space race, Earth’s powerful nations have scattered their probes across the Solar System in the hope of being the first to stumble across lifeforms outside of our planet, be it intelligent or not.

 

One of the surprise candidates that could host alien life is Titan – Saturn’s moon that’s larger than Mercury and has an atmosphere one-and-a-half times as dense as Earth’s. This might satellite is very similar to our planet. Its surface is covered with seas, lakes and rivers that, unlike Earth’s watery composition, are made up of liquid methane and ethane. Although the nitrogen and methane present in the air are toxic for human beings, researchers suggest that other lifeforms could have developed on this particular satellite.

Their assumptions are based on over a decade of thoroughly analyzing its surface using data collected by the Cassini-Huygens mission sent by NASA in collaboration with the European Space Station (ESA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI). Cassini is not the only space probe to visit Saturn’s satellite, but rather the first to enter its orbit. Keeping this in mind, we can only think at what novel info the craft was able to gather from there, since NASA is already working on developing a submarine to explore the vast and unusual seas of Titan.

 

Adding up to the mystery of this oversized moon, researchers have discovered an unusual feature that seems to defy any logical explanation so far. Images received by Cassini orbiter revealed how, in July 2012, a huge chunk of land measuring approximately 100 square miles (260 square kilometers) has surfaced from beneath the Ligeia Mare, one of Titan’s largest seas. On August 21, 2014, this alleged island disappeared under the shallow portion of the sea, baffling the scientific crew who were unable to find a precise explanation.

 

 

Apart from this, scientists believe that a massive underground ocean is trapped within Titan, and that it could contain liquid water leaked from the frozen surface of the planet. There has been much debate on this topic, and researchers strongly suggest that these kind of underground oceans, which are scattered throughout different places in the Solar System, could give rise to alien life.

 

A recent study of the chemical composition of the planet showed that it contains hydrogen cyanide (HCN) molecules in the atmosphere, particles which react to form polymers, including polyimine that is able to absorb a considerable spectrum of light. Snatching all this light, polyimine could be a real catalyst for life, according to various researchers.

 

• “Polyimine can exist as different structures, and they may be able to accomplish remarkable things at low temperatures, especially under Titan’s conditions,” said chemist Martin Rahm from Cornell University.
• “We are used to our own conditions here on Earth. Our scientific experience is at room temperature and ambient conditions. Titan is a completely different beast,” he added.

 

With all these unusual features of Titan and the keen interest developed by NASA and the Europeans Space Station to furtherly explore the watery surface of this natural satellite, it’s likely that some form of extraterrestrial life has been spotted and seems within reach.

 

If they’ll find an advanced species of underwater inhabitants, or rather primordial lifeforms we can only speculate, but judging by the secrecy NASA has accustomed us to, and the unusual enthusiasm and energy directed towards Titan, is likely that something of extreme importance has already been discovered on the surface.

Numerous government around the world are slowly coping with the idea that the worldwide population has a right to know whether or not we are alone in the universe. In fact, the disclosure movement has never been as strong as it is today with countless Military officers, government officials, and astronauts speaking out about the existence of alien life and Alien spacecraft.

 

Among all of the governments on the planet, it is believed that the United States have a lot of disclosure to do. Presidential Candidate Hilary Clinton has stated that if she is elected President of the United States, she would disclose all alien related documents and get to the bottom of the UFO phenomenon.

 

Jon Podesta, who was President Barack Obama’s right man, and Chief of Staff under the Clinton administration tweeted not long ago that one of his biggest regrets of 2014 was his failure to  “secure the disclosure of UFO files” and that “the time to pull the curtain back on this subject is long overdue. We have statements from the most credible sources, those in a position to know – about a fascinating phenomenon, the nature of which is yet to be determined.”

 

But despite serious attempts of disclosure, the government of the United States still maintains that they do not have knowledge of any information related to the Alien/UFO phenomenon.

 

However, many maintain that the reason why disclosure hasn’t happened yet isn’t because of the government. It’s very likely that such a subject might even go far beyond, extending into powerful corporations and a tight group of international elites.

 

Many governments around the globe have declassified a number of UFO-related documents which only proves that they have been extremely interested in the UFO phenomenon for years. However, not only have governments released classified information, agencies such as the FBI, NSA and CIA have also declassified some of their most secretive files on UFO’s and Alien life in the universe.

 

 

The crafts possess a type of radiant energy or a ray, which will easily disintegrate any attacking ship. They reenter the etheric at will, and so simply disappear from our vision, without trace.

The declassified document was addressed to “certain scientists of distinction,” to“aeronautical and military authorities,” and to “a number of public officials.”

 

The declassified document is a letter sent to the director of FBI in Washington from their San Francisco office, detailing UFO’s and extraterrestrial.

• Their mission is peaceful; the visitors contemplate settling on this planet.
• These visitors are human-like but much larger in size.
• They are not excarnate Earth people but come from their own world
• The disks posses some type of radiant energy.
• They do not come from any “planet” as we use the word, but from an etheric planet which interpenetrates with our own and is not perceptible to us.
• The bodies of the visitors, and the craft also, automatically materialize on entering the vibratory rate of our dense matter.
• They re-enter the etheric at will, and so simply disappear from our vision, without a trace.
• The region they come from is NOT the astral plane but corresponds to the Lakas or Talas. Students of esoteric matters will understand these terms.

However, this is just one of the many files that have been released to the public which describe with great detail the visitations.

 

Many things remain a mystery. While the above-mentioned documents gives fascinating details about the visitations, it still leaves us with a umber of questions like: Is it possible that three are several races of aliens out there? Are they Physical or extra dimensional?

I found this long cylinder ship parked on the side of a hill on comet 67P, the singing comet. The front of the cylinder has a gap going along its front that looks like a thin, dark rectangular window in the cockpit area. The sunlight is reflecting off its surface as it would a metal surface. The coloration of this ship is nothing like its surrounds, therefore its not part of it. 

I took a close up of the UFO, then added light to it, and to my surprise I found a row of windows on the right and left side of the ship. This confirms it. Its an alien spacecraft. Now...will Rossetta probe notice it or not? Probably not, ESA scientists are not trained to search for these alien artifacts like UFO researchers do, as you can well tell.

KGB Files Reveal Russia UFO crash and recovery of 1968, Alien Autopsy (original video) UFO Sighting News

This is the Secret KGB UFO Files, The Russian Crash of 1969. Its real, 100% and I can find no flaws in it. Its an old film bought on the blackmarket for 10K US and some how leaked to the public. I see why. The video shows both an alien craft, and a blueish green alien body that was recovered. This is enough to cause panic across the planet if the news ever got hold of it. You ask, are aliens real? But its probably the same questions they ask about us. I can vouch for this evidence at being real. You have my word on it. 

This leads to another thing...the continuing of the Apollo missions...covertly. NASA pretended to end the missions after Apollo 17, but they continued past 20. Russia was part of it. The NASA symbol has both flags in a cooperation displayed in the Apollo 20 videos. Apollo 20 took place about 1974-1975. Just 4-5 years after the UFO crash in the USSR. 

I remember talking to Willam Rutledge (astronaut on Apollo 20) on Youtube messages, and he said there was a cigar UFO and a triangle UFO in Deporte crater on our moon. They explored both. I had doubts, but I was the first person to ever find the ship in Deporte crater and report it to the public. William was very excited and didn't expect such a photo existed, but he liked it when I told him about it. He must have been about 77 when we spoke, but...may not be with us anymore and stopped talking to anyone after his Youtube account was hacked by the US government.

Report states:
The details of a Russian Crash on or about 1969 are sketchy and somewhat suspect. This case comes from the so-called "Secret KGB Files," which were reportedly smuggled out of the former Soviet Union. Reportedly, $10,000 was paid for the information. The details of these secret files were first offered to the general public on 9-13-98 as part of a TNT special titled "The Secret UFO Files of the KGB." The show featured extraordinary film and still photographs of the UFO recovery, and also a portion of autopsy film on part of an alien body. 

The event itself, according to the files, occurred in the state of Sverdlovsky, which was formerly Yekatrinburg of the USSR. The crash story follows a familiar pattern normally associated with this type of report. The fiery crash of an unknown object occurred in March 1969. The site was secured by the Russian military, and one dead alien was found in the wreckage. The remains of the craft and alien were brought to a secure location, and the alien body was autopsied. Both still and moving pictures were taken of the craft, its retrieval, and the alien autopsy. The autopsy shows only an alien torso and arm. From the size of the body parts, the alien would have been an extremely small being. 

The TNT special features Roger Moore, veteran actor and former James Bond, who discusses other UFO events, along with interviews with UFO experts, CIA agents, and other film. Probably the most notable footage is from MIG gun cameras of confrontations with UFOs. There have been only a few still frames of this footage in America, and I have not been able as of this writing, 11-01-2002, to obtain the videos. The show itself is mediocre, and its only redeeming quality is the presentation of the UFO crash story. Supposedly, the crash story was validated by secret KGB documents. 

The footage at the crash site does seem to be authentic at least on several points. The truck in the film is a circa 1950 model ZIS151, which has not been used by the military for quite some time, and the truck would have been difficult to find to stage a hoax with. Other elements of the film do not exhibit any obvious signs of a hoax, as to the movement of the soldiers, the timing of the film as to shadows, and the UFO itself. 

There are also several documents shown to verify the event itself, and an eyewitness to the event who swears that the recovery mission did occur. The footage of the autopsy film shows personnel without caps and gowns, which seemed odd to me at first, but after some research I found that this was commonplace for that era in Russia. 
The furnishings in the room are acceptable, and in Russia have probably not changed much today. Three men in their 20's and 30's are performing the procedure, and one woman is taking notes. The note taker is identified as KGB stenographer O. A. Pshonikina. The alien's torso and arm are lying together on the table as the autopsy is performed, and there are documents shown to support the autopsy. 

Although the USA-Russia relationship is much improved over a few years ago, it still lacks. Any information received is subject to translation, and often times there are problems with interpretation. It is sad there is not more cooperation between the two countries. The case of the 1969 retrieval and autopsy are difficult to assess. Until more information is uncovered, it will remain unsubstantiated.

Strange Objects Captured Over Clifton Park, New York

The aliens were used to be the object of imagination and are, therefore, debatable. Whether or not you believe in them, it does not matter to most people because your imagination is a reality to other people. Recently, there has been a strange object that freaked the viewer in Clifton Park, New York. According to him, the unknown object was ejecting orbs, specifically the drones. Unfortunately, the strange drone disappeared once he broke the camera.  The aircraft is believed to be an anti-gravity in nature. In fact, it bears a resemblance of an airplane without wings. The difference is that it has no sounds.

The shadow government in the US is autonomous tracking Americans unlawfully without public knowledge. Meanwhile, the US Military Industrial Complex is currently using A.R.V antigravity technology in modern aircraft. Unfortunately, as a cover for the black projects, the stars were disguised as extraterrestrials. This entity is designed to help the black government, and many airline companies have been used to cover these spy abduction programs. It was believed to be a part of the Eugenic Transhuman agenda.

If you can recall, numerous stories have been posted online, and many people are claiming they have been abducted without their knowledge. Through the knowledge of this technology, a lot of hidden truths will be uncovered. One of the reasons why extraterrestrial beings have remained a debatable object until now is the thought that some stories claimed by a genuine witness were hidden. Alien Sounds Recorded Near Jupiter by NASA’s Juno Spacecraft

Chilling, alien-like sounds have been recorded coming from Jupiter, and they could be made by enormous creatures living in the planet’s atmosphere.

The sounds were picked up by NASA’s Juno spacecraft, set to enter Jupiter’s orbit today [July 4th], after a five-year journey through interplanetary space.

 

The space probe is set to stabilize in a polar orbit and beam back information about the planet’s atmospheric composition, magnetic field and weather phenomena. It will also search for clues that could shed light on Jupiter’s formation, so the scientific community is pretty stoked about Juno’s arrival.

 

On June 24, Juno crossed the boundary of Jupiter’s magnetic field and that’s when the WAVES instrument aboard the craft started picking up a series of fascinating radio signals that sound otherworldly when shifted down into the audible spectrum.

 

 

 

NASA astronomers say this thunderous barrage is caused by a phenomenon known as the astrophysical bow shock. It occurs as a result of the interaction between a celestial object’s magnetic field and the flowing plasma that makes up solar wind. Traveling at supersonic speeds, these charged particles are slowed down and heated by the magnetic field they encounter, giving rise to the eerie, otherworldly sounds.

 

As majestic an explanation as this is, we know not to accept what we’ve been told as the irrefutable truth. We have little information about what goes on beneath Jupiter’s swirling clouds, and most of it comes from the data collected by a titanium probe dropped from the Galileo spacecraft into the gas giant’s atmosphere in July 1995. It survived for 57 minutes before being crushed by the rising pressure.

 

We know that earthly carbon-based lifeforms cannot survive on Jupiter but that doesn’t eliminate the possibility for Jovian life to appear and even flourish. Exobiologists believe exotic lifeforms could exist in Jupiter’s thick, 5,000 mile-deep atmosphere, which is composed mainly of hydrogen, but also contains ammonia, methane and water. These are the very gasses that were used in the famous Miller-Urey experiment, the one that demonstrated how the basic building blocks of life could be produced by reactions between the gasses in a planet’s atmosphere.

 

The experiment was simple: water vapor was added to a flask containing hydrogen gas, methane and ammonia. Miller then passed an electric current through the mixture and, lo and behold, after just one week of zapping the gas, the contents of the flask already showed traces of organic molecules and amino acids, the precursors of life. Jupiter has the gasses and it also has the lightning storms to perform its own experiments.

A number of scientists and writers have hypothesized the emergence of life in Jupiter’s upper atmosphere, with the conditions on the planet leading to the evolution of bizarre, enormous creatures dubbed atmospheric beasts.

 

In the 1971 science fiction novella A Meeting with Medusa, writer and futurist Arthur C. Clarke explored the possibility of future explorations of the giant planet and speculated on the characteristics of the lifeforms that might inhabit it. Clarke theorized that, alongside microscopic air plankton, Jupiter could be called home by large, jellyfish-like creatures the size of a small city. Held afloat by hydrogen-filled compartments, these rightly-called beasts would feed on the microscopic ones like the filter-feeders swimming in Earth’s oceans.

 

 

 

Even distinguished space scientists like Carl Sagan admitted this could be a possibility. With that in mind, listen once more to the sounds recorded by the Juno spacecraft on June 25, right after it passed Jupiter’s magnetopause. No, that’s not what happens to magnet-women later in life, it’s the area surrounding a planet where its own magnetic field is stronger than that of star it’s orbiting. Basically the planet’s home turf.

 

 

Could these incredible sounds have been made by something other than Jupiter’s astrophysical processes—its inhabitants, perhaps? The complexity of these rising and falling tones is something that needs to be taken into account and it’s been suggested before that this music of the celestial spheres strongly resembles the intricacies of intelligent speech.

The US military’s high-priority UFO reporting system

The U.S. Air Force’s (USAF) official investigation into UFOs ended in 1969, and since then, the military has claimed they have no interest in the topic, nor do they investigate UFOs. However, through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), investigators have uncovered several documents that would indicate UFOs have been of interest, and that the most important files were most likely never made public.

The USAF began officially investigating UFOs in 1948 as Project Sign. This evolved into Project Grudge, and finally into the well-known, Project Blue Book. The best behind the scenes look into these projects was written by Blue Book’s director, Captain Edward Ruppelt.  It is titled, The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects, and can be read on the internet for free.

Much has been made of the Blue Book investigations, and as Ruppelt admits in his book, there were many extraordinary investigations that have yet to be solved. However, what is perhaps more extraordinary is that the most significant military reports were not sent to Blue Book.

Blue Book was closed in 1969, after a study conducted by the University of Colorado and the USAF determined there was no merit to the project. The reasons Project Blue Book should be closed were outlined in a document dated October 20, 1969, prepared by USAF Deputy Director of Development Brigadier General C.H. Bolender.

To highlight his point that Blue Book was unnecessary, he wrote “reports of unidentified flying objects which could affect national security are made in accordance with JANAP 146 or Air Force Manual 55-11, and are not part of the Blue Book system (Atch 10).”

Bolender continued, “The Air Force experience therefore confirms the impression of the University of Colorado researchers ‘that the defense function could be performed within the framework established for intelligence and surveillance operations without the continuance of a special unit such as Project Blue Book.’”

So what is JANAP 146? JANAP stands for Joint Army, Navy, Air Force Publication, and documents such as the Air Force Manual 55-11 are based off of them. JANAP 146 details “Communication Instructions for Reporting Vital Intelligence Sightings [aka CIRVIS].” According to a copy of JANAP 146 found on the NSA’s website, this includes reporting “Unidentified flying objects.”

A website hosted by the Library and Archives of Canada regarding Canada’s UFO files, includes a poster with images of UFOs used to demonstrate what was to be reported. The website says that Canada instituted a joint reporting system with the U.S. called CIRIVS/MERINT in 1959-1960. However, copies of JANAP 146 can be found dating back to the early 1950s. The most recent reference to the JANAP 146 instructions was found in an U.S. Air Force document called Air Force Instruction (AFI) 10-206 in 2011.

The circumstances surrounding the deletion of this reference are very peculiar. John Greenewald, creator ofThe Black Vault, often referenced AFI 10-206 in lectures and even included it in a History channel documentary on UFOs he helped produce. He felt it demonstrated that despite what they tell the public, the USAF is still interested in UFOs.

In 2011, Lee Speigel, staff writer for The Huffington Post, decided to write an article on the document. Greenewald helped him find the document on the USAF website, and sure enough, it still referenced reporting UFOs. However, a few days later, when Speigel went to get a screenshot of the document for his story, the chapter had been changed. He wrote about this coincidence in his article.

Greenewald sent a FOIA request to get information on what had changed and why the changes had been made. They sent him a report, and in it, they list CIRVIS as no longer existing or being required. Even so, the timing of its removal was extraordinary.

On his website, Greenewald also chronicles his effort to find the CIRVIS UFO reports. CIRVIS reports were to be sent to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). However, when Greenewald sent a FOIA request for these files, he was sent a response that stated: “NORAD is a binational command established by Volume 33, United States Treaties (UST), page 1277, subject to control of both Canadian and US Government agencies as defined in the Act and consequently is not subject to the US FOIA.”

Although, according to this statement, they were not required to send Greenewald their UFO files, Greenewald says, “The letter went on to state that in the spirit of the FOIA, they looked for UFO information but found no records.”

Greenewald finds that odd. Especially, after finding out that the Canadians were much more open with their files, and they did receive CIRVIS UFO reports.

Greenewald says in “circa 2000,” he decided to contact the Canadian government to inquire if he could get copies of any UFO reports they received via CIRVIS. Canada’s version of FOIA is the Access to Information Act (AIA). Greenewald called Canada’s Department of National Defense to find out if, as an U.S. citizen he could submit an AIA request.

He says he asked the person who answered the phone this question, and was told if the files were released to a Canadian, it should not be a problem to also get them to him. Greenewald then explained the types of files he was looking for, and to his utter amazement, the Canadian official said he had them laying right there on his desk. For $3 Greenewald was able to have the files shipped to him, and now has them on his website. There are several UFO sightings from the 90s in the documents.

So where have the U.S. reports gone? It could be NORAD is being less than honest when they say they do not have any UFO reports, or they are playing games and their reports do not use the term “UFO.” Efforts to retreive these files are still underway. However, there is another avenue that is used to report important UFO events.

In the place of CIRVIS, AFI 10-206 now references what is called Operational Reporting (OPREP).  In the past, UFO researchers have noted the term OPREP-3 on UFO documents. Australian UFO researcher Paul Dean, has been taking a closer look, and it appears this may be the way important UFO sightings are being reported by the military today.

The current AFI 10-206 states: “The OPREP-3 system provides CSAF [Chief of Staff of the Air Force] and intermediate commanders the information necessary for timely operational decisions. The main criterion for inclusion in the OPREP-3 system is essential information for command and control of aerospace forces.”

In other words, these are reports that are so important they need to be quickly communicated straight up to the top of command.

The instructions give guidance to different levels of importance and categories of reports that are identified by “flagwords.” For instance, an OPREP-3 PINNACLE (OPREP-3P) is a report that requires immediate notification to command and, among other things, is of “national-level interest.” NUCFLASH is used for missile launches and re-entering space debris. BROKEN ARROW is a nuclear weapon detonation or radioactive contamination. FADED GIANT relates to nuclear reactor or radiological accidents or incidents. The lowest level is BEELINE, which is an OPREP-3 report that is AF-level, but not national-level.

There are many levels of OPREP-3 reporting, but these are some that we will reference in this story. Dean has also found that OPREP-3 is used among all branches of the military, and some branches have their own flagwords.

Dean first noticed that OPREP-3 was being used to report UFOs when he was looking into UFO cases in the 70s, in particular a case from the Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range in Florida on May 14, 1978. The casemade it into the papers, including a newspaper covering the military called Pacific Stars and Stripes.

According to the OPREP-3 report, the incident began at about 10 pm local time when a woman called the Pinecastle Range to ask if they had any flares being dropped in the area. The duty officer said no, and she described seeing strange lights above nearby trees. She said they were red, green and white. Soon after she disconnected, another witness called saying he and around 18 other witnesses were also seeing the lights.

Naval personnel also saw the lights, and they were able to track the object on radar. According to the report, the radar operator said the object seemed to be “evading his efforts to lock and track it on the computer,” and at one point the object was moving at 400-500 knots (about 460-575 mph).

The report was marked OPREP-3 NAVY BLUE, a Navy flagword that means the incident is of Navy interest, but not national, and does not fit under another flagword.

There has also been at least one report that has garnered an OPREP-3 PINNACLE , which, as seen above, is a highly important report needing immediate attention. Dean discovered this file in a group of files that was released from a FOIA request by UFO researchers Barry Greenwood and Lawrence Fawcett for the booksClear Intent and UFO Cover Up: What the Government Won’t Say.

This report was part of a string of sightings on the U.S. and Canadian border. This file can also be found on the Department of Defense (DoD) website. It is on page 39 of a DoD pdf of UFO files. The report reads: “A visual sighting of an unidentified object has reported at Loring CRC 4NM NNW of Loring AFB.”

This was likely rated PINNACLE because Loring Air Force base houses nuclear weapons.

In another case, the OPREP-3 reports state that an unidentified helicopter or low flying aircraft flew over the weapons storage area at Wurtsmigh AFB in Michigan. The aircraft were never found or identified.

It is no wonder that these cases are deserving of a vital reporting system such as OPREP-3. It is alos now wonder that despite telling the public they are not interested in UFOs, that they are in fact investigating these shocking cases of unidentified aircraft violating our most secure airspace. Recently, we covered the story of the release of a documentary with military witnesses who had been present at nuclear bases when UFOs were spotted.

Dean says he and his UK based colleague David Charmichael, are still submitting FOIA requests for OPREP-3 UFO reports, but thus far, have been told they do not exist. As he notes in his article, it is likely a matter of getting the wording right. It is a sort of game.

The DoD has posted a document on OPREP-3 that was released due to a FOIA request by a man named Armen Victorian. Dean says Charmichael was in contact with Victorian in the past, and that Victorian had received a letter from the Office of the Secretary of Defence (OSD) that stated: “OPREP–3 reports containing information relating to unknown objects near US military installations are considered extremely sensitive, and thus not releasable.”

While that rings true, Dean has not been able to contact Victorian to get a copy of the letter, and they have not received a similar response to their FOIA requests. It would be shocking to have the military admit they have information on unknown objects, even though the OPREP-3 documents released thus far demonstrate unknown aircraft have been observed and tracked on radar.

Dean and Charmichael have received the response, “…the responsibilities of addressing unidentified aerial devices or objects fall directly under the control of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD)…”

Of course, NORAD is not subject to FOIA – isn’t that convenient, and the FAA has recently told Greenewald they have no UFO files, which is in contrast to earlier statements.

NORAD has also told Dean they do not study “unknown tracks” or “NORAD remaining unknowns.”

In an interview on Open Minds UFO Radio, Dean says NORAD has told him they do not study “unknown tracks” or “NORAD remaining unknowns.” He has been able to track those reports to an organization called the Center for Aerospace Analysis, but that the organization no longer exists.

Dean continues to pursue NORAD for answers, and we will be sure to update you on what he finds.

Project Blue Book includes thousands of reports, and many of them are very interesting and, according to the USAF, around 701 of them remain unsolved. Even more important is the fact that these did not include the most important cases. Those apparently went to CIRVIS and/or OPREP-3. The paper trail shows us UFO reports did go to OPREP-3, and the few reports that have been released, along with the credible testimony of military witnesses, demonstrate unidentified objects flew over bases with nuclear weapons, and the military did take notice.

Perhaps, the dogged pursuit of these files will result in further enlightening us on the facts of these cases, and adding to the evidence that something, or someone, with capabilities beyond our own, might be compromising our most secure military airspace at will.

UFO Move Toward Jet Over Australia, Seen in Infrared, July 2016, Video, UFO Sighting News.

This video was taken with a special infrared converted camera. All cameras have a filter in them to cut out the infrared. This camera he uses has had the filter taken out so it can see infrared, then he placed the IR filter over the lens so only IR light is seen. More about IR cameras here. 

This orb was caught flying past a passenger jet over Australia this week. The orb just appears out of nowhere and slows down near the jet as if it were scanning it. Orbs are often seen near jets and contrails. This is a very nice catch by ColourUFO of Youtube.

I shot this video from my backyard in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas, Nevada on the night of January 1, 2015. This video is a remake and I was torn as to whether or not I should speed it up because it is nearly twenty-three minutes long. I chose to show it at actual speed because I do get a lot of feedback and criticism saying I shouldn't speed them up. The problem is that very few people have the time to watch a long video and speeding slow moving objects up allows more people to watch and it makes it easier to see how they are moving. Also, some nights I end up with hours of footage. I already have three external hard drives where I save the video files and they aren't cheap. That's approximately eight terabytes of video. Despite all that, I wanted to run this one at actual speed. I try real hard not to say anything I am not sure about when I put out a video but in this case, after watching it again I must say that when the video begins it appears to be a V-shaped object with brighter lights on the front and sides. It levels off and you can't see the shape anymore but if you watch long enough you will notice a number of lights coming out of it and a couple going to it. If I have ever caught any motherships on video which I am not sure I have this could be one of them. It sat there for more than twenty minutes.

UFO Hunter Claims Webcams de Mexico Shows Convincing UFO Footage

Another fleet of bright orbs flying around the active Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico has made rounds online as UFO hunters claim it is probably the most compelling video of UFOs in recent times.

UFO hunters believe a fleet of bright orbs emerged around the volcano during its eruption. In a video captured by Webcams de Mexico – live cameras monitoring major active volcanoes in the country including Colima and Popocatepetl – on June 19 at 12:12 a.m. local time, the said ball of lights become visible.

A lot of the same UFO videos have been caught for the last five years, but for some UFO enthusiasts the latest one is the most impressive video from the Mexican volcano cam ever emerged. They pointed out over 10 of these mysterious aerial objects flying around the volcano.

According to some observers, the camera had on its infrared mode, which is probably the reason these UFOs are only seen in the camera and not visible to the human eyes.
However, a UFO investigator dismissed this claim of UFOs swarming around the active volcano.

Scott Brando, who runs Ufoofinterest website, explained that such so-called anomalies are typically caused by insects flying in front of the camera lens or just dust.

Brando continued that the infrared/night vision webcam is more sensitive to bugs on the camera lens or to the small light source, and eruption causes a similar effect. He said that dust near the camera lens tends to be brighter, and the furthest debris looks less bright.

Massive 'Lava Lamp' Blobs Deep Inside Earth Have Scientists Puzzled

Two continent-size blobs of hot — and possibly molten — rock can be found deep underground, about halfway to the center of the Earth, according to a new study. These curious structures — each of which is so large that it would be 100 times taller than Mount Everest — could be made up of materials that may shed light on how the Earth formed, the researchers said. 

One of the blobs is located beneath the Pacific Ocean, and the other can be found beneath the Atlantic. These underground structures start where the Earth's mantle meets the core, but they send "plumes" up through the rock like a Lava Lamp, the researchers said.

Scientists now think these masses differ from the surrounding rock in more than just temperature. They're also "compositionally distinct," meaning they could contain materials not typically found in the rest of the Earth's mantle. Yet even some of the most basic information about the blobs is still a mystery. [Photo Timeline: How the Earth Formed]

"To me, the big unanswered question is, what is it, and how did it form?" said the paper's lead author Edward Garnero, a professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University.

Scientists have observed the blobs for decades by monitoring seismic activity in the two regions. Different types of seismic waves travel at different speeds, depending on the type of rock the blobs are moving through. And by comparing the timing and delay of signals from multiple locations, seismologists can build models of what's going on in the Earth's interior.

The blobs are characterized by slower wave speeds, which suggests they are a different temperature from the rest of the Earth's mantle, the researchers said. But at some of the edges, normal wave speeds transition abruptly to low wave speeds. A pure temperature difference would result in a more gradual change, the scientists said, which suggests the blobs are likely made up of something different from what makes up their surroundings.

Because they're big and characterized by the slower wave speeds, the blobs have been called large low velocity provinces (LLVPs). And when the speed of one type of wave, shear waves, is even slower than would be expected, scientists call the areas large low shear velocity provinces (LLSVPs). But beyond that, not much is known about the origin or composition of these strange rocky blobs.

"The LLSVPs are definitely there, but the terrible name they have been given reflects the fact that we don't really know what they are," Richard Carlson, a geochemist at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C., who wasn't involved with the new paper, wrote in an email to Live Science.

The Lava Lamp comparison is appropriate — except when this Lava Lamp blob reaches the top, it spills or explodes out of the Earth's surface, Garnero said.

If an especially large "superplume" of magma from one of these blobs were to make it to the surface, it would result in "massive eruptions where the lava will come out for millions of years at a time," Garnero said. There isn't much cause for alarm, though. "The next one could be on its way," he said, "but it could be a million years away."

Scientists aren't sure if the blobs are made of material from the Earth's crust or if the chemical difference dates back to the Earth's formation.

"If we understood these 'blobs' better, that would represent a huge step forward in understanding the deep workings of our planet," Wendy Mao, a geoscientist at Stanford University who was not involved with the new paper, wrote in an email to Live Science.

A Fifth Force: Fact or Fiction?

Has a Hungarian lab really found evidence of a fifth force of nature?

Science and the internet have an uneasy relationship: Science tends to move forward through a careful and tedious evaluation of data and theory, and the process can take years to complete. In contrast, the internet community generally has the attention span of Dory, the absent-minded fish of "Finding Nemo"(and now "Finding Dory") — a meme here, a celebrity picture there — oh, look … a funny cat video.

Thus people who are interested in serious science should be extremely cautious when they read an online story that purports to be a paradigm-shifting scientific discovery. A recent example is one suggesting that a new force of nature might have been discovered. If true, that would mean that we have to rewrite the textbooks.

As a physicist, I'd like to shed a disciplined scientific light on the claim.

A fifth force

So what has been claimed? 

In an article submitted on April 7, 2015, to the arXiv repository of physics papers, a group of Hungarian researchers reported on a study in which they focused an intense beam of protons (particles found in the center of atoms) on thin lithium targets. The collisions created excited nuclei of beryllium-8, which decayed into ordinary beryllium-8 and pairs of electron-positron particles. (The positron is the antimatter equivalent of the electron.) 

The Standard Model is the collection of theories that describe the smallest experimentally observed particles of matter and the interactions between energy and matter.

They claimed that their data could not be explained by known physical phenomena in the Standard Model, the reigning model governing particle physics. But, they purported, they could explain the data if a new particle existed with a mass of approximately 17 million electron volts, which is 32.7 times heavier than an electron and just shy of 2 percent the mass of a proton. The particles that emerge at this energy range, which is relatively low by modern standards, have been well studied. And so it would be very surprising if a new particle were discovered in this energy regime.

However, the measurement survived peer review and was published on Jan. 26, 2016, in the journalPhysical Review Letters, which is one of the most prestigious physics journals in the world. In this publication, the researchers, and this research, cleared an impressive hurdle. [What's That? Your Physics Questions Answered]

Their measurement received little attention until a group of theoretical physicists from the University of California, Irvine (UCI), turned their attention to it. As theorists commonly do with a controversial physics measurement, the team compared it with the body of work that has been assembled over the last century or so, to see if the new data are consistent or inconsistent with the existing body of knowledge. In this case, they looked at about a dozen published studies.

What they found is that though the measurement didn't conflict with any past studies, it seemed to be something never before observed — and something that couldn't be explained by the Standard Model.

New theoretical framework

To make sense of the Hungarian measurement, then, this group of UCI theorists invented a new theory.

The theory invented by the Irvine group is really quite exotic. They start with the very reasonable premise that the possible new particle is something that is not described by existing theory. This makes sense because the possible new particle is very low mass and would have been discovered before if it were governed by known physics. If this were a new particle governed by new physics, perhaps a new force is involved. Since traditionally physicists speak of four known fundamental forces (gravity,electromagnetism and the strong and weak nuclear forces), this hypothetical new force has been dubbed "the fifth force."

Theories and discoveries of a fifth force have a checkered history, going back decades, with measurements and ideas arising and disappearing with new data. On the other hand, there are mysteries not explained by ordinary physics like, for example, dark matter. While dark matter has historically been modeled as a single form of a stable and massive particle that experiences gravity and none of the other known forces, there is no reason that dark matter couldn't experience forces that ordinary matter doesn't experience. After all, ordinary matter experiences forces that dark matter doesn't, so the hypothesis isn't so silly.

There are many ideas about forces that affect only dark matter and the term for this basic idea is called "complex dark matter." One common idea is that there is a dark photon that interacts with a dark charge carried only by dark matter. This particle is a dark matter analog of the photon of ordinary matter that interacts with familiar electrical charge, with one exception: Some theories of complex dark matter imbue dark photons with mass, in stark contrast with ordinary photons. If dark photons exist, they can couple with ordinary matter (and ordinary photons) and decay into electron-positron pairs, which is what the Hungarian research group was investigating. Because dark photons don’t interact with ordinary electric charge, this coupling can only occur because of the vagaries of quantum mechanics.  But if scientists started seeing an increase in electron-positron pairs, that might mean they were observing a dark photon.

The Irvine group found a model that included a "protophobic" particle that was not ruled out by earlier measurements and would explain the Hungarian result. Particles that are "protophobic," which literally means "fear of protons," rarely or never interact with protons but can interact with neutrons (neutrophilic).

The particle proposed by the Irvine group experiences a fifth and unknown force, which is in the range of 12 femtometers, or about 12 times bigger than a proton. The particle is protophobic and neutrophilic. The proposed particle has a mass of 17 million electron volts and can decay into electron-positron pairs. In addition to explaining the Hungarian measurement, such a particle would help explain some discrepancies seen by other experiments. This last consequence adds some weight to the idea.

Paradigm-shifting force?

So this is the status. 

What is likely to be true? Obviously, data is king. Other experiments will need to confirm or refute the measurement. Nothing else really matters. But that will take a year or so and having some idea before then might be nice. The best way to estimate the likelihood the finding is real is to look at the reputations of the various researchers involved. This is clearly a shoddy way to do science, but it will help shade your expectations.

So let's start with the Irvine group. Many of them (the senior ones, typically) are well- regarded and established members of the field, with substantive and solid papers in their past. The group includes a spectrum of ages, with both senior and junior members.  In the interest of full disclosure, I know some of them personally and, indeed, two of them have read the theoretical portions of chapters of books I have written for the public to ensure that I didn't say anything stupid. (By the way, they didn't find any gaffes, but they certainly helped clarify certain points.) That certainly demonstrates my high regard for members of the Irvine group, but possibly taints my opinion. In my judgment, they almost certainly did a thorough and professional job of comparing their new model to existing data.  They have found a small and unexplored region of possible theories that could exist. 

On the other hand, the theory is pretty speculative and highly improbable. This isn't an indictment … all proposed theories could be labeled in this way. After all, the Standard Model, which governs particle physics, is nearly a half century old and has been thoroughly explored. In addition, ALL new theoretical ideas are speculative and improbable and almost all of them are wrong. This also isn't an indictment. There are many ways to add possible modifications to existing theories to account for new phenomena. They can't all be right. Sometimes none of the proposed ideas are right. 

However, we can conclude from the reputation of the group's members that they have generated a new idea and have compared it to all relevant existing data. The fact that they released their model means that it survived their tests and thus it remains a credible, if improbable, possibility.

What about the Hungarian group? I know none of them personally, but the article was published in Physical Review Letters — a chalk mark in the win column. However, the group has also published two previous papers in which comparable anomalies were observed, including a possible particle with a mass of 12 million electron volts and a second publicationclaiming the discovery of a particle with a mass of about 14 million electron volts. Both of these claims were subsequently falsified by other experiments. 

Further, the Hungarian group has never satisfactorily disclosed what error was made that resulted in these erroneous claims. Another possible red flag is that the group rarely publishes data that doesn't claim anomalies. That is improbable. In my own research career, most publications were confirmation of existing theories. Anomalies that persist are very, very, rare. 

So what’s the bottom line? Should you be excited about this new possible discovery?  Well…sure…possible discoveries are always exciting. The Standard Model has stood the test of time for half a century, but there are unexplained mysteries and the scientific community is always looking for the discovery that points us in the direction of a new and improved theory. But what are the odds that this measurement and theory will lead to the scientific world accepting a new force with a range of 12 fm and with a particle that shuns protons? My sense is that this a long shot. I am not so sanguine as to the chances of this outcome.

Of course, this opinion is only that…an opinion, albeit an informed one. Other experiments will also be looking for dark photons because, even if the Hungarian measurement doesn't stand up to scrutiny, there is still a real problem with dark matter.  Many experiments looking for dark photons will explore the same parameter space (e.g. energy, mass and decay modes) in which the Hungarian researchers claim to have found an anomaly. We will soon (within a year) know if this anomaly is a discovery or just another bump in the data that temporarily excited the community, only to be discarded as better data is recorded.  And, no matter the outcome, good and better science will be the eventual result.

Researchers Spotted Something Very Strange in the Sands of Mars

No, it’s not aliens writing messages in the sand. But there is something weird happening on Mars’ surface—and it’s something that hasn’t been seen anywhere else in the universe.

Researchers looking at images from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and the Curiosity rover spotted a strange combination of almost wave-like ripples forming in the sands of Mars. Over time, these formations often even solidified into rock, resulting in these strange landscape photos:

The research into the unique Martian features was led by Caltech’s Mathieu Lapôtre and is detailed today in Science. The researchers say that the ripples are formed by the wind, and they owe their unique appearance to some peculiarities of the Martian atmosphere.

We see sand dunes formed by the wind here on Earth, too, of course. But these Martian sand formations are something completely different. The tiny peaks are not as big as the dunes we see form on Earth, and yet they’re much bigger and sturdier than the ripples that a breeze stirs up in the sand. In fact, the formations, which the researchers are calling “wind-drag ripples,” look like something on Earth—but not anything we see on land. Instead, they look remarkably similar to underwater currents.

The reason for the similarity, Lapôtre told Gizmodo, is Mars’ thin atmosphere.

“It is the low density of the Martian atmosphere that increases the viscosity of air on Mars,” he said, “and thus promotes the formation of the large Martian ripples through wind-drag.”

Although the feature has only been spotted on Mars so far, Lapôtre thinks it’s possible we’ll find similar features elsewhere—we just haven’t gotten close enough to see them yet.

“Comet 67P/Churyumov Gerasimenko and Pluto come to mind,” he said. “While ripple-like features have been previously observed on the comet during the Rosetta mission, the spatial resolution of the beautiful images taken by the New Horizons spacecraft are likely too coarse to resolve possible wind-drag ripples on the grounds of Pluto.”

The formations don’t just look interesting—they could also reveal how Mars’ atmosphere, which was once more Earth-like, became the way it is.

“Because the spacing and size of wind-drag ripples vary with the density of the atmosphere under which they form, we can now look for preserved ‘fossil’ wind-drag ripples in ancient sandstones on Mars, and constrain past atmospheric conditions,” Lapôtre said.

He’s already used the technique on the 3.7 billion year old Burns Formation in Victoria crater, which Opportunity visited in 2007. Although the formation is incredibly old, the ripples are still present. That means that Mars probably lost its thick atmosphere sometime before that 3.7 billion year mark.

Planeet met drie zonnen ontdekt - HLN.be

Astronomen hebben voor het eerst een planeet (buiten ons zonnestelsel) ontdekt met drie zonnen, zo heeft de Europese Zuidelijke Sterrenwacht ESO vandagag bekendgemaakt, parallel met een publicatie in het wetenschappelijke vakblad Science.

De thuisplaneet van Star Wars-held Luke Skywalker - Tatooine - is een vreemde wereld met twee zonnen aan de hemel. Maar nu hebben astronomen een nóg vreemdere wereld ontdekt.

Onder leiding van de Universiteit van Arizona stootten de astronomen met de VLT-telescoop van de ESO in Chili immers op planeet HD 131399Ab. Het is een uniek object: zijn omloopbaan om de helderste van de drie sterren is verreweg de wijdste die ooit in een meervoudig stersysteem is waargenomen. Zulke banen zijn vaak instabiel, vanwege de complexe en veranderlijke zwaartekrachtsaantrekking van de beide andere sterren in het systeem. Dat hier ook planeten in stabiele banen zouden worden aangetroffen gold als zeer onwaarschijnlijk, zegt de ESO.

HD 131399Ab staat op een afstand van ongeveer 320 lichtjaar in het sterrenbeeld Centaurus. Met een leeftijd van ongeveer 16 miljoen jaar behoort hij tot de jongste exoplaneten die tot nu toe zijn ontdekt. Bovendien is het één van de weinige planeten waar directe opnamen van zijn gemaakt. Binnen deze laatste categorie is hij één van de 'koudste' (580 °C) en 'zwaarste' (4 Jupitermassa's).

Gedurende ongeveer de helft van elke planeetomloop, die 550 aardse jaren duurt, zijn er drie sterren aan de hemel te zien. De zwakkere twee staan altijd veel dichter bij elkaar; hun schijnbare afstand tot de helderste ster verandert in de loop van het jaar. Op het hemellichaam is het dus soms gedurende meer dan een mensenleven de hele dag door licht en vinden er dagelijks drie zonsopgangen en -ondergangen plaats.

Hoewel de precieze baan die de planeet ten opzichte van zijn moedersterren volgt pas vast te stellen is als er meer langetermijnwaarnemingen beschikbaar zijn, wijzen simulaties erop dat de dubbelster, bestaande uit de wat lichtere sterren HD 131399B en -C, op een afstand van ongeveer 300 AE (300 keer de gemiddelde afstand Zon-Aarde) om HD 131399A cirkelt. Deze laatste - de helderste van het gezelschap - heeft tachtig procent meer massa dan de Zon. De sterren B en C wentelen om elkaar op een onderlinge afstand die vergelijkbaar is met de afstand Zon-Saturnus.

Volgens dit scenario beweegt planeet HD 131399Ab op een afstand van ongeveer 80 AE om de ster A - dat is ongeveer twee keer de afstand Zon-Pluto en ongeveer een derde van de afstand tussen ster A en de dubbelster B/C. Er zijn evenwel ook andere baanscenario's mogelijk.

De onverwachte ontdekking wijst er voorts op dat zulke systemen vaker voorkomen dan gedacht, zegt de ESO nog.

Ruimtesonde Juno filmt voor het eerst de harmonie van ons universum - HLN.be

VIDEO De maan draait rond de aarde, de aarde draait rond de zon: we weten wel dat het zo werkt, maar dat echt mooi in beeld brengen, lukte niet echt (tenzij met technische trucjes). Dat is veranderd dankzij Juno.

Scott Bolton van het team dat de Juno-missie opvolgt, werd net niet lyrisch toen hij de beelden vrijgaf die de ruimtesonde Juno gefilmd heeft op weg naar Jupiter. "Eeuwenlang hebben we ons voorgesteld hoe de planeten en sterren bewegen. We konden dat enkel nabootsen via computeranimatie of dankzij de inspanningen van Hollywood. Vanavond verandert dat." 

De video toont hoe de vier grootste manen van Jupiter - Io, Europa, Ganymedes en Callisto - rond de planeet draaien, als ware het een kosmische dans. "Vanavond kunnen wij voor het eerst de ware harmonie in de natuur zien", aldus Scott Bolton. "Zo zien de manen van Jupiter eruit, zo ziet ons zonnestelsel eruit, zo ziet onze melkweg eruit. Het is harmonie op elke schaal."

Marsjeep Curiosity zet zichzelf op een laag pitje - HLN.be

De Amerikaanse Marsjeep Curiosity heeft zichzelf in een "veilige modus" gezet, zo heeft space.com woensdag gemeld.

De robot schakelde vandaag om een nog onbekende reden over naar een laag pitje. De Marsverkenner communiceert desondanks nog met de vluchtleiding en is stabiel.

In 2013 gebeurde een zelfde scenario drie keer en telkens kwam de succesvolle robot weer helemaal tot leven, aldus space.com.

De 2,4 miljard dollar kostende Curiosity landde in augustus 2012 in de Gale-krater en heeft de kennis over onze buurplaneet grondig bijgespijkerd.

CERN ontdekt familie vreemde zware deeltjes - HLN.be

WETENSCHAP Onderzoekers op deeltjeslab CERN hebben een onbekende familie van exotische deeltjes gevonden. Die bestaan niet zoals gewone materie uit twee of drie zogeheten quarks, maar uit vier van zulke bouwsteentjes. Bovendien zijn dat niet de quarks die bijvoorbeeld protonen of neutronen in de atoomkern maken, maar minder gangbare en veel zwaardere quarksoorten.

De gevonden deeltjes zijn uiterst instabiel en kunnen in de alledaagse materie geen rol spelen. Over exotische materie met vreemde quarks wordt geregeld gespeculeerd, onder meer dat die bijzondere eigenschappen zou kunnen hebben. 

De nieuwe zogeheten tetraquarks zijn gevonden met de LHCb-detector, die de brokstukken bekijkt van botsende protonen in de grote LHC-versneller. Die draait sinds een klein jaar met de hoogste energie die ooit in een versneller is gemaakt. De hoop is om zo nieuwe deeltjes te vinden die op ongekende natuurkundige principes wijzen. Eerder bewees de LHC al het bestaan van het befaamde Higgs-deeltje, dat andere deeltjes massa geeft.

In de nieuwe LHCb-data doken vier tetraquarks op die bestaan uit verschillende combinaties van charm- en anti-charm quarks en strange en anti-strange quarks. Een de tetraquarks was al eerder gespot, maar nu zijn er dus nog drie ongekende varianten opgedoken. De LHCb-groep heeft ook hun massa kunnen bepalen: allemaal ongeveer viermaal de massa van een proton, maar onderling duidelijk verschillend.

Zes quarks

Dat materiedeeltjes als protonen en neutronen inwendig uit combinaties van quarks bestaat, werd voor het eerst in 1968 geopperd door theoretici. Sindsdien is het bestaan van zes quarks aangetoond. Gewone materiedeeltjes bestaan uit drietallen up en down quarks, in exotischer deeltjes komen ook andere types voor. Daarnaast zijn er ook gangbare deeltjes die uit combinaties van een quark en een anti-quark bestaan. 

De theorie voorspelde destijds ook dat er viertallen en zelfs vijftallen van quarks zouden kunnen bestaan. Vorig jaar ontdekten onderzoekers van het CERN ook al de eerste vijfvoudige pentaquark.

Sporen van cultuur voor Inca's gevonden in Machu Picchu - HLN.be

Archeologen hebben sporen gevonden van een cultuur in Machu Picchu die nog dateert van voor de Inca's. De onderzoekers vonden een rotsschildering die geen sporen van de Incakunst bevat. Dat schrijft de Peruviaanse krant El Comercio.

Het beeld, waarop een lamaherder met een van zijn dieren is afgebeeld, werd op een rots aangetroffen op 100 meter van de Incastad Machu Picchu en zou ongeveer 800 jaar oud zijn, zegt hoofdarcheoloog José Bastante.

Machu Picchu werd door de Inca's in de 15de eeuw gesticht. Deze tekening is het eerste bewijs van een cultuur die dateert van voor de Inca's. Om het onderzoek niet te verstoren, is de vindplaats voorlopig niet toegankelijk voor bezoekers.

Amerikaanse sonde met succes in baan rond Jupiter  - HLN.be

VIDEO De onbemande ruimtesonde Juno van het Amerikaanse ruimtevaartbureau NASA is met succes in een baan rond Jupiter geraakt, na een tocht van vijf jaar. Dat heeft NASA gemeld, die om 05.53 Belgische tijd bevestiging kreeg dat het manoeuvre geslaagd was.

De sonde ontbrandde vanochtend zijn motor voor een 35 minuten durend manoeuvre om in een baan rond Jupiter terecht te komen. NASA kwam via een radiosignaal van 3 seconden te weten dat Juno in zijn missie geslaagd was. 

Bedoeling van de sonde is onder andere meer te weten te komen over de magnetische velden, de samenstelling van de atmosfeer en de kern van de planeet. 

De wetenschappers hopen op basis van de bevindingen ook meer te leren over het ontstaan van ons zonnestelsel. Uiteindelijk zal de sonde, die met zonne-energie wordt aangedreven, zichzelf vernietigen.

Op twintig maanden tijd zal Juno 37 keer in een baan rond Jupiter draaien.

Manen van Mars wellicht ontstaan door gigantische botsing met protoplaneet - HLN.be

De twee kleine manen rond de planeet Mars zijn wellicht ontstaan als gevolg van een gigantische botsing met een protoplaneet. Dat blijkt maandag uit een onderzoek waar onder meer de Koninklijke Sterrenwacht van België bij betrokken was. De bevindingen zijn gepubliceerd in het wetenschappelijke magazine Nature Geoscience.

Rond de planeet Mars cirkelen twee kleine aardappelvormige maantjes: Phobos (oud-Grieks voor 'angst') en Deimos ('paniek'). Tot nu toe werd aangenomen dat deze manen asteroïden waren die door Mars zijn ingevangen. Maar een team van Belgische, Franse en Japanse wetenschappers, onder leiding van Pascal Rosenblatt van de Koninklijke Sterrenwacht van België, plaatst nu duidelijke vraagtekens bij die theorie.

De onderzoekers stellen namelijk dat Phobos en Deimos ontstaan zijn uit het puin dat werd opgeworpen na een gigantische botsing van Mars met een drie keer kleinere protoplaneet. Die botsing zou 4 miljard jaar geleden het volledige oppervlak van de noordelijke hemisfeer van Mars vernield hebben.

"In het verleden meer manen"

"Dit scenario vereist dat Mars in het verleden meer manen had, die nu verdwenen zijn, maar ervoor zorgden dat het puin aangroeide tot de huidige maantjes Phobos en Deimos", zo stellen de wetenschappers. Volgens hun hypothese zou die derde maan na enkele miljoenen jaren naar Mars zijn teruggevallen. De natuurlijke satelliet zou meer bepaald uiteengevallen zijn in erg kleine deeltjes die ofwel in de atmosfeer zijn opgebrand ofwel kleine kraters hebben nagelaten.

Nog volgens de wetenschappers zou Mars door die botsing gaan roteren zijn en, net als de aarde, een dag-nachtritme hebben gekregen. 

Nieuwe onderzoeken moeten nog meer inzicht brengen in de theorie. Het Japanse ruimtevaartagentschap JAXA wil in 2022 een ruimtesonde lanceren die bodemmonsters van het oppervlak van Phobos naar de aarde zal brengen. Het Europese ruimtevaartagentschap ESA heeft, in samenwerking met het Russische Roscosmos, gelijkaardige plannen voor 2024.

NASA's Juno spacecraft captured a unique time-lapse movie of the Galilean satellites in motion about Jupiter. The movie begins on June 12th with Juno 10 million miles from Jupiter, and ends on June 29th, 3 million miles distant. The innermost moon is volcanic Io; next in line is the ice-crusted ocean world Europa, followed by massive Ganymede, and finally, heavily cratered Callisto. Galileo observed these moons to change position with respect to Jupiter over the course of a few nights. From this observation he realized that the moons were orbiting mighty Jupiter, a truth that forever changed humanity's understanding of our place in the cosmos. Earth was not the center of the Universe. For the first time in history, we look upon these moons as they orbit Jupiter and share in Galileo’s revelation. This is the motion of nature's harmony.

Here is an interesting story about giants in Nevada and a fight between them and the local indians. I have heard it many times, and how the giant red head beings got there and where they came from has always intrigued me. I wonder...were they abandoned there on purpose as a punishment, left behind by their own alien species?

Was North America once inhabited by a race of giants? According to an old legend supported by several challenging archaeological finds, it is possible.

Many Native American tribes tell stories about the long-forgotten existence of a race of humans that were much taller and stronger than ordinary men. These giants are described as both brave and barbaric and legends often mention their cruelty towards whomever they pleased.

The Paiute, a tribe that settled in the Nevada region thousands of years ago, have an outstanding legend about a race of red-haired giants called the Si-Te-Cah. The ancestors of the Paiute described them as savage and inhospitable cannibals.

In the Northern Paiute language, ‘Si-Te-Cah’ literally means ‘tule-eaters.’ Legend has it that the giants came from a distant island by crossing the ocean on rafts built using the fibrous tule plant.

As odd as it may sound, this legend repeats itself all over the Americas, suggesting it might be an incomplete chronicle of a real event that happened long ago.

In Crónicas del Perú, sixteenth century Spanish conquistador Pedro Cieza de León recorded an ancient Peruvian tale about the origin of the South American giants. According to legend, they “came by sea in rafts of reeds after the manner of large boats; some of the men were so tall that from the knee down they were as big as the length of an ordinary fair-sized man.”

Could the giants of Peru and the Si-Te-Cah have been survivors of a massive cataclysm who took refuge on the American continent?

Legend tells that the Si-Te-Cah waged war on the Paiute and all other neighboring tribes, spreading terror and devastation. Finally, after years of conflict, the tribes united against the common enemy and began to decimate them. The last remaining red-haired giants were chased off and sought shelter inside a cave. The tribes started a fire at the cave entrance, suffocating and burning alive the Si-Te-Cah. Those driven out by the smoke were also killed.

The tribes then sealed off the mouth of the cave so that no one might set eyes on those who had once plagued their land. They were all but forgotten until a random event brought them back to light.

In 1886, a mining engineer named John T. Reid happened to hear the legend from a group of Paiutes while prospecting near Lovelock, Nevada. The Indians told him that the legend was real and the cave was located nearby. When he saw the cave for himself, Reid knew he was onto something.

Here is hero who's gone unknown, for far too long. Let's get into it. Why destroy a base on the moon? Because the US gov found out that the Chinese and Russians also know about the base, so they wanted to destroy it right away. I saw it live in front of my students in my classroom. I also remembered a guy who looked angry and packed up all his gear and left during their celebration of the nuke going off. He was pissed, and he was packing all his computer stuff and quitting his job. Its clear this guy knew about the alien base and was pissed all to hell that he had to hide this information from the public too, but now the US gov wants to destroy this usable base with a nuke? Who wouldn't be pissed over that? Well, high five guy for one. This guy high fiving...he acts like he dent know about the base, or just doesn't care. Yes there is proof of a base, the press took a photo of they guys and its HD, below his arm in the photo on his desk...there is a square base visible. Click here to view it. This angry guy was sticking in my mind, but today I found a video of him finally, and wanted to share it with you. Amazing daytime UFO sighting over San Antonio, Texas

Here’s one really interesting UFO footage that was just submitted to me recently. It shows a very fast bright object moving over San Antonio in Texas. This was filmed on 15th May 2014.

Filmed this a few days ago to show how close this guy was flying over while crop dusting. Just got done playing it and saw something I hadn’t noticed….watch when he’s about 1/2 way through (:15) his banking around to the left. The quality isn’t as good uploaded as it is on the phone, but it’s still clearly visible. Watch in HD if possible. Outside of Marion Texas, between San Antonio and Seguin, right off I-10.

This strange UFO sighting was recorded over Iglesias, Italy.

A family of three, in Iglesias (Italy) has been involved into an extraordinary sighting. A flying saucer has literally chased their car for more than 20 kilometers. The UFO was interacting with witnesses miming their movements. At some point the object has split in a dozen of objects, a flottilla. A witness stated that he warned by phone a relative who reached the place of the sighting in a few minutes without comprehend how he did it. Two videos of the sighting UFOs were filmed. The surveys were conducted by C.UFO.M. under the leadership of President Dr. Angelo Carannante. Strange UFOs in the sky above Paris, France 3-Jul-2016

Here’s one new UFO video that was filmed on 3rd July 2016 in the sky above Paris, France.

Witness report: 

One of the first convincing nighttime sightings I recorded with my Sony A7s camera. While I was pointing a laser to some stars in the sky, two clear objects flying at different speeds crossed the sky.
I didn’t notice them when they appeared. After checking the footage on my PC, I noticed a pretty weird fast object glowing regularly. I first thought it was a meteor, but its constant speed and trajectory suggest something else. Indeed, I zoomed in and animated the position of the video to put the object in the center, and followed its trajectory: the object doesn’t change its speed and keeps its trajectory in a straight line. My guess is that it was some sort of propelled object, either reflecting light from an external source, or emitting its own light (a craft?).

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope Will Be In Space For Five More Years

The Hubble Space Telescope has been capturing incredible images from space for over 26 years and it’s going to keep doing it for five more years.

NASA is contractually extending science operations for the iconic telescope until 2021, despite its intended 15 year lifespan. On Thursday, the agency awarded a sole source contract extension to the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy for continued Hubble science operations support at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, according to NASA.

This contract extension will allow the Hubble mission to continue the work its been doing since April 1990. Since the last of five servicing missions in 2009, Hubble has been outfitted with a docking space for a thruster. This attachment will take it out of Earth’s orbit and let it burn up in the atmosphere before crashing somewhere on Earth’s surface, according to Wired.

After the retirement of NASA’s space shuttle program in 2011, repair missions have ceased, so keeping Hubble in space until 2021 will be a huge achievement. NASA expects that Hubble will continue to provide valuable data as its mission continues observing our solar system and beyond. 

The telescope’s successor, the James Webb Space Telescope is scheduled for launch in 2018 and will be able to gaze even farther back in time to the birth of the first stars.

An equation to quantify the origins of life on other planets

Back in the 1960's, an astronomer named Frank Drake came up with a formula for estimating the likely number of alien civilizations that might be capable of transmitting radio signals in such a way as to be recognizable by receivers here on earth. That equation, named quite naturally the Drake Equation has been the unofficial standard-bearer for half a century, despite it having no solution because some of the parameters are still unknown. The same holds true for the new equation developed by Scharf and Cronin, but the results given should the unknowns ever be discovered would offer a different sort of answer than Drake was looking for.

To build their formula, the duo came up with several parameters to solve for abiogenesis, which is the likelihood of an event occurring that leads to life beginning, they included the number of possible building blocks, the mean number of such blocks per possible organism, the availability of building blocks that might exist during a given time period, expressed as a fraction and the probability that the existence of the building blocks would actually lead to life starting in a given unit of time. It looks like this:

In essence the formula is meant to suggest that the probability of life beginning on a given planet is very likely connected to whether there are building blocks available on a given planet, and how much of them there might be. As more is learned by space researchers it is hoped that the formula could help narrow down search targets by offering a statistical probability of success for a given planet. The researchers note that the building blocks available do not necessarily have to be of the type that led to life beginning on our planet. They also suggest that implied in the formula is the likelihood that life beginning events are more likely to occur in solar systems where there are multiple planets, which allow for an opportunity to share materials that could lead to building blocks.

Abstract 
A simple, heuristic formula with parallels to the Drake Equation is introduced to help focus discussion on open questions for the origins of life in a planetary context. This approach indicates a number of areas where quantitative progress can be made on parameter estimation for determining origins of life probabilities, based on constraints from Bayesian approaches. We discuss a variety of "microscale" factors and their role in determining "macroscale" abiogenesis probabilities on suitable planets. We also propose that impact ejecta exchange between planets with parallel chemistries and chemical evolution could in principle amplify the development of molecular complexity and abiogenesis probabilities. This amplification could be very significant, and both bias our conclusions about abiogenesis probabilities based on the Earth and provide a major source of variance in the probability of life arising in planetary systems. We use our heuristic formula to suggest a number of observational routes for improving constraints on origins of life probabilities.

Helvetius, the grandfather of the celebrated philosopher of the same name, was an alchemist who labored ceaselessly to fathom the mystery of the “philosopher’s stone,” the legendary catalyst that would transmute base metals into gold.

One day in 1666 when he was working in his laboratory at the Hague, a stranger attired all in black, as befitted a respectable burgher of North Holland, appeared and informed him that he would remove all the alchemist’s doubts about the existence of the philosopher’s stone, for he himself possessed such an object.

 

 

The stranger immediately drew from his pocket a small ivory box, containing three pieces of metal the color of brimstone. With those three bits of metal, he said, he could make as much as twenty tons of gold.

 

The alchemist examined the pieces of metal and seeing that they were very brittle, he surreptitiously scraped off a small portion with his thumbnail. He then returned the three pieces of metal to his mysterious visitor and invited him to perform the process of transmutation.

 

The stranger answered that he was not allowed to do so. It was enough that he had verified the existence of the metal to Helvetius. It was his purpose only to offer him encouragement in his experiments.

 

After the man’s departure, Helvetius procured a crucible and a portion of lead, into which, when in a state of fusion, he threw the stolen grain he had secretly scraped from the alleged philosopher’s stone. He was disappointed to find that the grain evaporated, leaving the lead in its original state.

 

Thinking that he had been made a fool by the mad burgher’s whimsy, Helvetius returned to his own experiments in attaining the philosopher’s stone.

 

Some weeks later, when he had almost forgotten the incident, Helvetius received another visit from the stranger. Impatiently, the alchemist told the man that if he could not do as he claimed, then please leave the laboratory at once.

 

“Very well,” the stranger said, consenting to perform a demonstration of the philosopher’s stone for the skeptical Helvetius. “I shall show you that that which you most desire does truly exist.”

 

The mysterious visitor said that one grain was sufficient, but it was necessary to envelope it in a ball of wax before throwing it on the molten metal; otherwise, its extreme volatility would cause it to vaporize.

 

To Helvetius’s astonishment, the stranger transmuted several ounces of lead into gold. Then he permitted the alchemist to repeat the experiment by himself, and Helvetius converted six ounces of lead into very pure gold.

 

 

Helvetius found it impossible to keep a secret of such immense value and importance. Soon the word of the alchemist’s remarkably successful experiments spread all over the Hague, and Helvetius demonstrated the power of the philosopher’s stone in the presence of the Prince of Orange, and many times afterward, until he had exhausted the supply of catalytic pieces that he received from the mysterious burgher.

 

And search as he might, Helvetius could not find the man in all of North Holland nor learn his name. And pray as he might, the stranger never again visited Helvetius in his study.

 

Down through the centuries, very mysterious individuals have appeared at certain moments in human history and provided convincing demonstrations that “impossible” inventions are possible.

 

The “respectable burgher of North Holland” appeared “modest and simple” to the alchemist Helvetius.

 

It was his incredible knowledge that startled and inspired the alchemists of Helvetius’s day, and though these learned and determined men never did acquire the philosopher’s stone that would transmute lead into gold, they did fashion the seeds of the science of chemistry that has accomplished so many transmutations of the human environment and the human condition in the last three hundred years.

 

Out of the smoky laboratories of the alchemists,

 

• Albert le Grand produced potassium lye
• Raymond Lully prepared bicarbonate of potassium
• Paracelsus described zinc and introduced chemical compounds in medicine
• Blaise Vigenere discovered benzoic acid
• Basil Valentine perfected sulfuric acid
• Johann Friedrich Boetticher became the first European to produce porcelain

While each of the above is an important discovery, there are rumors that lying amidst the musty pages of certain ancient alchemical laboratories there are recorded experiments with photography, radio transmission, phonography, and aerial flight.

Throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, there were many scholars who claimed that they had received late-night visits from mysterious members of a secret society that had accomplished the transmutation of metals, the means of prolonging life, the knowledge to see and to hear what was occurring in distant places, and the ability to travel across the heavens in heavier-than-air vehicles.

Strange Clouds Over CERN: Portals to another dimension opens above the LHC?

What are the mysterious clouds photographed over CERN? Is this another mind-bending experiment that tries to open portals to another dimension? In the past, scientists at CERN used the LHC to ‘connect’ with a Parallel universe outside our own.

It seems that unusual phenomena are continuing to occur in the vicinity of Geneve near the Large Hadron Collider. According to a set of images and videos, strange clouds appear over the LHC, which has sent the internet into a  frenzy suggesting the enigmatic phenomenon could, in fact, be a portal to another dimension.

 

The Jaw-dropping images taken above CERN’s Large Hadron Collider are truly fascinating. But are they connected to the mystery experiments that are taking place below the surface? And is it really possible for CERN to open up portals to another dimension?

 

The images alone with a fancy title have proposed all kinds speculation. Apparently, the images were taken on June 24th, the exact same day CERN was conducting a new experiment called AWAKE. The AWAKE experiment, which is also known as the “Proton Driven Plasma Wakefield Acceleration Experiment,” aims to use a whole new method that will get particles going much faster in a shorter amount of time. However, results of this experiment are not expected until 2018.

 

CERN is the world’s most powerful particle accelerator placed inside a ring-shaped 27 kilometer-long underground tunnel located at the Swiss and the French border. The facility was built between 1998 and 2008 and allows physicists to test various theories.

In the past, it is well-known that CERN has carried out experiments creating artificial clouds to better understand global warming.

 

The video that caused a massive uproar on social networks was uploaded to YouTube on June 27th by YouTube Channel Freedom Fighter Times. Called What portal did CERN open now? Strange Clouds Hover Above the LCH,” the video has ignited a massive debate whether or not CERN scientists are actually opening up portals to another dimension.

 

But… do another dimension actually exist? Or have users on the internet gone too far now?

 

Well, according to a document released by the FBI, other dimensions DO exist, and we have even been visited by ‘beings’ from those dimensions. These “entities” that could “materialize” on our planet appeared as giant translucent figures.

 

But let’s get back to CERN and the so-called portals being opened above the facility.

 

 

 

In the video uploaded by YouTube Channel Freedom Fighter Times, the narrator states:

• “It [the image] is not a background you can get on Google,” the narrator says in the video. “It is an actual picture taken on June 24, 2016. It is directly over CERN, and the cloud formation is fascinating.”
• “The energy that is being produced, you can actually see that minus the lightning strikes,” he continues.
•  “How much energy did CERN pull into itself?” he asks. “Is this why the weather is so crazy all over the planet? There are many other colliders all over the world.”

But can CERN actually open up portals to other dimensions if they do exist?

 

Well, it turns out that they can. Scientists at CERN want to use the Large Hadron Collider to better understand the fundamental forces of our universe, how it was created and where the universe is going. They aim to recreate the Big Bang and discovered what kind of matter existed at the exact moment our universe came into existence. However, they also look forward to FIND other dimensions and open up ‘gateways’ or portals to these dimensions.

 

 

 

Last year, scientists conducting a mindboggling experiment at the Large Hadron Collider stated that they hope to ‘connect’ with a Parallel universe outside our own.

 

Scientists at CERn said: „It is even possible that gravity from our own universe may ‘leak’ into this parallel universe.“

 

Mir Faizal, one of the three-strong team of physicists behind the experiment, said: “Just as many parallel sheets of paper, which are two-dimensional objects [breadth and length] can exist in a third dimension [height], parallel universes can also exist in higher dimensions.

 

• “We predict that gravity can leak into extra dimensions, and if it does, then miniature black holes can be produced at the LHC.

• “Normally, when people think of the multiverse, they think of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, where every possibility is actualized.

• “This cannot be tested, and so it is philosophy and not science.
• “This is not what we mean by parallel universes. What we mean is real universes in extra dimensions.
• “As gravity can flow out of our universe into the extra dimensions, such a model can be tested by the detection of mini-black holes at the LHC.
• “We have calculated the energy at which we expect to detect these mini black holes in ‘gravity’s rainbow’ [a new scientific theory].
• “If we do detect mini black holes at this energy, then we will know that both gravity’s rainbow and extra dimensions are correct.”

 

A mindboggling fact: Did you know that when the LHC is fired up the energy is measured in Tera electron volts – a TeV is 1,000,000,000,000, or one trillion, electron Volts.
