Zambian locals ran away in terror when they saw a strange human-like figure appear in the clouds above a shopping centre.

The alleged apparition, which looked like a Dementor from the Harry Potter movies, was spotted above the Mukuba Mall in Kitwe.

Photographs show a large humanoid head and torso, tailing into the sky and it is thought to have measured more than 100 metres (330ft) long.

The dense black shape looked like it was made from a different material from the clouds.

From the angle of the photograph, it looks like the apparition was looking down on the shopping centre.

The figure hung in the sky for about half an hour and some thought it was a manifestation of God. 

A witness said: 'We were shocked to see images that looked like a human in the clouds for close to 30 minutes. 

'Some started worshipping but others ran away. It was so strange.'

Dat je de robots van vandaag niet mag onderschatten, dat wisten we al. Maar nu kan ene Chef 3D in amper zes minuten een pizza op je bord toveren, sneller dan de gemiddelde Italiaan dus. Ideaal bij de grote honger... Of in de Gentse binnenstad.

BeeHex, een startup uit Sillicon Valley kreeg van de NASA een beurs van 125.000 dollar (ongeveer 117.000 euro) om de 3D-printer te ontwikkelen. Onder het motto 'alles is beter dan dat vreselijke ruimtevoedsel' was de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie namelijk op zoek naar een robot die snel een 'lekkere' maaltijd tevoorschijn kon toveren voor haar astronauten tijdens lange missies. 

Sinds de startup de beurs kreeg, heeft het zich ook beziggehouden met de ontwikkeling van de robot voor de commerciële markt. In februari meldde TechCrunch dat BeeHex zo'n miljoen dollar (zo'n 941.000 euro) aan fondsen had verzameld om zijn eerste creatie op de consument los te laten. De Chef 3D zal binnenkort aan de slag gaan tijdens sportwedstrijden en in winkelcentra en themaparken. 

De robot is volgens de makers niet alleen sneller dan een menselijke pizzabakker, hij werkt ook properder en levert consistenter werk af. Er is slechts één persoon en één minuut nodig om het deeg, de saus en de kaas klaar te leggen voor het goedje vijf minuten in de oven gaat.

NU OOK GROOT MOEDERSCHIP EN DIMENSIEPORTAAL BIJ DE ZON ( VIDEO )

Naast een toename van UFO waarnemingen wereldwijd zijn er ook steeds meer verschijningen die lijken te wijzen op bepaalde portalen. 

Eerder deze week werd weer duidelijk dat ze soms voor komen als een soort grote vermomde onweerswolk waarbij je overal bliksemschichten ziet en als je geluk hebt UFO’s die in en uit die wolk vliegen. 

Een teken dat wij in bijzondere tijden leven, is toch wel dat mensen nu dingen waarnemen die eigenlijk niet of misschien heel sporadisch voor kwamen. 

Enkele dagen geleden hadden een paar mensen die vroeg op weg waren naar een strand in de Amerikaanse staat Californië ook een vreemde gewaarwording. Het was nog donker toen ze op pad gingen om te gaan surfen en opeens zagen ze iets vreemds in de lucht. 

Het was geen “normale” UFO, maar een soort opening in de nachthemel, van waaruit een licht tevoorschijn komt dat naar beneden straalde. 

Het zag er ongeveer als volgt uit:

Het vreemde licht bleef een tijdje hangen, maar verdween dan ook op een gegeven moment volkomen in het niets zonder ook maar een spoor achter te laten. 

In de volgende video zijn na enkele minuten bewegende beelden te zien en hoor je de verbaasde stemmen van de mensen in de auto wanneer het licht plotsklaps weer volledig verdwijnt. 

 

Wanneer UFO’s inderdaad door de ruimte reizen en gebruikmaken van dimensieportalen, dan kunnen ze onmetelijke afstanden afleggen waarbij in aardse tijd misschien maar enkele minuten verstrijken. 

Als dit zo is, dan zou je ook natuurlijk ook dimensieportalen verwachten op andere plaatsen dan alleen bij onze aarde. En het lijkt alsof we op onze wenken worden bediend door het universum, want iets dergelijks deed zich afgelopen week voor bij onze zon. 

Al heel lang schrijven wij over dat daar regelmatig (grote) ruimteschepen worden waargenomen en ook nu is dat weer het geval. 

Alleen dit keer is er ook duidelijk zo’n dimensieportaal zichtbaar zoals te zien op de volgende afbeelding.

In de buurt van de zon is een enorm moederschip, met daarnaast een dimensieportaal en een aantal kleinere UFO’s. Dat moederschip is enorm en zou waarschijnlijk in staat zijn om een fors deel van de aardbewoners te huisvesten. 

Hebben we hier te maken met een buitenaardse reddingsmissie die klaarstaat om straks in een oogwenk een deel van de mensheid te evacueren? Die via een dimensieportaal en de kleinere UFO’s her en der mensen zou kunnen oppikken op aarde en ze via het dimensieportaal in een oogwenk naar het moederschip transporteren?

NASA PETST COMPLEET GEBOUW OP MARS VAN FOTO 

De planeet Mars is niet bepaald naast de deur en daarom kan het publiek nog niet zelf even een kijkje nemen op de beroemde “rode planeet”. 

Dit betekent dat NASA de bevolking voor kan spiegelen wat ze willen, behalve als ze betrapt worden bij het wegpoetsen van een compleet gebouw. 

Mensen die nog steeds geloven dat instanties zoals NASA ons echt wel de waarheid vertellen en dat die aluhoedjes iedere keer dingen zien die er niet zijn, willen wij graag het volgende voorleggen: 

Wat als er nu een foto is van NASA uit 2013, genomen door één van de NASA rovers op Mars, waarop duidelijk een gebouw is te zien? 

Het gaat om een zwart/wit foto die is genomen op 6 september 2013 en waarop je in de verte duidelijk een soort (flat)gebouw ziet staan, achter de heuvels.

Wanneer je wat verder inzoomt, dan wordt duidelijk dat daar iets staat wat niet anders omschreven kan worden dan als een constructie, een gebouw.

Wie de originele foto wil bekijken, kan dat hier doen. Dan wordt er enkele jaren later opnieuw een foto gemaakt van hetzelfde gebied op Mars en de datum op de foto is dan 11 februari 2017. 

Dit keer is het een kleurenfoto en ziet er als volgt uit.

En wanneer we hier wat inzoomen, dan blijkt opeens het gebouw uit de foto van enkele jaren geleden te zijn verdwenen.

Wie deze originele foto wil bekijken, kan dat hier doen. Er bestaat geen enkele twijfel over de locatie en er bestaat ook geen enkele twijfel over dat er in de zwart/wit foto’s een soort gebouw is te zien. Ook in het geval het gebouw op de slooplijst heeft gestaan.... iemand heeft het dan dus gesloopt, Mars is dan bewoond en dat weet NASA dan ook.

En toch? Wij zijn degenen ze zien vliegen en de mainstream media en de politiek zullen zich nooit eens achter de oren krabben en zich afvragen hoe dit kan? 

Als er op het ene moment iets staat en het volgende moment niet meer, dan betekent dat simpelweg dat er wordt geknoeid met foto’s door NASA. Dat betekent dat wanneer ze dat met bovenstaande opnames doen, ze dit veel vaker doen. Dit betekent dat ze tegen ons liegen.

Iemand die dat ook bevestigt, is Donna Hare. Zij heeft in het verleden voor NASA gewerkt en in de volgende video hoor je haar uitleggen hoe het werkt bij bij deze ruimtevaartorganisatie. 

Donna spreekt dan over foto’s waar UFO’s op voor komen en die door het personeel van NASA vakkundig worden weggepoetst. Hoe mensen die daar werken als de dood zijn om te praten, omdat ze dan niet alleen hun werk zullen verliezen, maar ook hun pensioen. 

 

Waarom wordt al het bovenstaande systematisch genegeerd door de mainstream media en de politiek? Bewijst dat niet dat ook zij net zo corrupt en doortrapt zijn als NASA? Bewijst dat niet dat journalisten van de mainstream media geen onderzoek doen zoals ze be weren wel te doen, maar neerpennen wat hen wordt opgedragen? 

En zij moeten degenen zijn die bepalen wat de waarheid is?

Moon Size UFO Shoots Out Of Our Sun, But NASA Wont Tell You About It, March 4, 2017, UFO Sighting News.

Now, can you see the UFO that shot out of our sun? I circled it, but didn't add color, its nature color above. 

Now, had this not been a UFO, it could have shot in any direction, including at Earth. Had this moon size object been solar material ejected from our sun and heading in Earths direction,  all life on Earth would have been wiped out in just minutes. The heat alone would burn our atmosphere from our entire planet, stripping all air, water, ice from our surface. But of course, if we were about to die, NASA couldn't even alert the public. There would be no time.

So the big question is, which do you prefer to believe? The moon size UFO theory, or the plasma ejection theory? I believe its the first...a long UFO. Excellent find byStreetcap1.

I do feel that had Trump been up there, he would be more forthcoming about what he knows about UFOs. He doesn't seem to be the kind of guy that beats around the bush about a subject.

13,000 Year Old Satellite Orbiting Earth Sending Radio Signals – (BLACK KNIGHT)

Some of you may be familiar with the “Black Knight” satellite, and some may not; however, all the facts relative to it will be presented in the article below.

The “Black Knight” is much more than just some urban legend. It’s an artificial satellite, which can be seen on NASA’s official site. It’s often categorized as space junk, but its origins have remained a puzzle for astronomers to date.

The world first heard of the “Black Knight” in 1954, three years before Russia launched the Earth’s first satellite – Sputnik 1.

On Friday, May 14, 1954, a number of newspapers reported of a retired Marine Corps Major Donald E. Keyhoe, who stated that one or two artificial satellites were orbiting the Earth. The Major also stated that efforts were being made by U.S. Government scientists at White Sands, NM, to locate them and determine their origin.

The images below show coverage of the story by two national papers – the St. Louis Dispatch and the San Francisco Examiner.

The story didn’t end here as on August 23, 1954, Aviation Week magazine also reported of two satellites orbiting the Earth at 400 and 600 miles out. Although the magazine reported of natural satellites, this was later proved to be virtually impossible. No such natural satellites were ever claimed later on.

According to Dr. Lincoln LaPaz, an expert on extraterrestrial bodies from the University of New Mexico, and the identification project’s lead, one of the satellites is orbiting about 400 miles out, while the other one 600 miles from the Earth. It was a general opinion, including Pentagon’s, that the Russians had beaten the U.S. in space explorations.

The Defense Department hired Clyde Tombaugh, the scientists who discovered Pluto, to look for the mystery object.

The “Black Night” has been a hot media topic for more than half a century. It’s actually one of the most covered space objects of all time. This artificial satellite has attracted public attention all over the world for decades now also  because at one point it was actually believed to be a Russian spy satellite.

These are some interesting facts about the “Black Night”:

The Black knight satellite has been transmitting radio signals for over 50 years now according to monitoring agencies around the world.

The USA and Soviet Union are particularly interested in this “unidentified space object”.

It’s alleged that after building a high-voltage radio device in Colorado Springs, Nikola Tesla was the first man to “intercept” a signal from the black knight satellite in 1899.

Astronomers worldwide have been reporting strange radio signals supposedly coming from the “Black Knight” since the 1930′s.

In 1957, it was photographed by Dr. Luis Corralos of the Communications Ministry in Venezuela while taking pictures of Sputnik II as it passed over Caracas.

The Black Knight first got media coverage in the 1940′s when the St. Louis Dispatch and The San Francisco Examiner wrote about the “Satellite” on May 14th 1954.

On March 7, 1960, the Time Magazinewrote about the Black Knight Satellite.

In 1957, an unknown “object”, which was in Polar orbit, was seen “shadowing” the Sputnik 1 Spacecraft.

Neither the US, not Russia had the technology to maintain a spacecraft in Polar Orbit in 1957.

The first Polar-orbiting satellite was launched in 1960.

Polar orbits are often used for earth-mapping, earth observation, capturing the earth as time passes from one point and reconnaissance satellites, which classifies the Black Knight as an observational Satellite.

In the 1960′s the Black Knight satellite was located once again in Polar Orbit. According to astronomers and scientists, the object weighed over 10 tons, meaning it was the heaviest artificial satellite to orbit the Earth at the time.

The Black Knight’s orbit was different from any other object orbiting Earth.

This mysterious “satellite” was given a lot of importance by the Grumman Aircraft Corporation. On September 3, 1960, seven months after the satellite was first detected by radar, a tracking camera at Grumman Aircraft Corporation’s Long Island factory took a photograph of the Black Knight satellite.

A committee was set up by the Grumman Aircraft Corporation to study the data received from the observations. However, none of the data has been published.

In 1963, Gordon Cooper was launched into space. When he was on his final orbit, he reported seeing a glowing green object in front of his capsule moving towards his Spacecraft. This unidentified object was picked up on Radar traveling east to west by the Muchea tracking station, in Australia, which Cooper reported the object to.

The Ham Radio operator allegedly decoded a series of signals received from the UFO Satellite, which was interpreted as a star chart centered on the Epsilon Bootes Star System.

Decoded message indicated that the Black Knight satellite originated from the Epsilon Bootes Star System 13.000 years ago.

A story about the Black Knight Satellite was published by the technology magazine Aviation Week and Space Technologyon August 23, 1954. Pentagon was angered by this and tried to keep the story undercover.

Earth's Mantle Is More Than 100 Degrees F Hotter Than Scientists Thought

How hot are Earth's scorching insides? A sweltering 2,570 degrees Fahrenheit (1,410 degrees Celsius), a new study finds.

The discovery reveals that the mantle under Earth's oceans — the area just below the crust that extends down to the planet's inner liquid core — is almost 110 degrees F (60 degrees C) hotter than scientists previously thought, the researchers said. The finding will help scientists more accurately model Earth's many geodynamic processes, including plate tectonics, they said.

"Having such a hot mantle could mean that the mantle is less viscous (flows more easily), which could explain how tectonic plates are able to move on top of the asthenosphere," the upper layer of Earth's mantle, said study lead researcher Emily Sarafian, a doctoral student in the Geology and Geophysics Department at a joint program run by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The temperature's effect on the asthenosphere isn't very different from that of hot temperatures on honey, she said.

"If you put honey in the fridge for an hour, it will barely flow when you take it out," Sarafian said in an email to Live Science. "If, instead, you put honey on the stovetop, it will flow very easily, because it's hotter."

Mantle mystery

There are many clues that the mantle under Earth's oceans is blazing hot. For instance, it generates the lava that bursts out of underwater volcanoes. However, for obvious reasons, scientists can't travel to the mantle and directly measure the temperature at which it melts.

Instead, scientists create mantle rocks in laboratories by combining powders of mineral building blocks, Sarafian said.

"Once they have a synthetic mantle rock, they then subject the rock to mantle pressures and temperatures to determine the temperature at which the rock melts at a given pressure," she said. By increasing the temperature in small intervals and at different pressures, scientists can note exactly when their synthetic mantle rock melts — a condition known as mantle solidus.

But there's a major problem with this experiment: water.  

Mantle rocks contain a small amount of water, but it's incredibly challenging to ensure that the correct amount of water is in these laboratory samples, Sarafian said. Moreover, the atmosphere contains water, "so your experiments are adsorbing some unknown amount of water, and they aren't completely dry," she said.

Scientists are aware of this problem, "but they were never able to quantify how much water was in their experiments because the mineral grains that grow during an experimental run at mantle pressures and temperatures are way too small to measure with current analytical techniques," Sarafian said.

Understandably, scientists need to account for water in these experiments, as water in rocks can lower the rocks' melting temperature. In the past, researchers opted to do their experiments on dry synthetic rock, and then mathematically add water to the equation, she said.

But, as Sarafian and her colleagues later found out, because of the water in the atmosphere, these "dry" experiments were not actually dry; rather they contained roughly the same amount of water that is in the mantle, she said. Thus, correcting the results by mathematically adding water was unnecessary and made the results inaccurate.

Olivine to the rescue

A mineral called olivine helped Sarafian and her colleagues solve the puzzle another way. Olivine grains are about the size of fine sand, and large enough that researchers can accurately measure water within the grains. In addition, olivine is a good candidate because it occurs naturally in the mantle, Sarafian said.

"We performed melting experiments the same way that previous scientists did, putting a synthetic rock to high pressure and temperatures, but by adding these grains to our experiments, we were giving ourselves a target that was large enough to analyze for water content," she said. Conveniently, the sample ended up having the same amount of water as the mantle does, Sarafian said. This meant they didn't have to use any equations to correct their data, she said.

Their results suggested that the mantle melts when it is relatively close to the Earth's surface. That runs counter to another recent finding, which showed that the mantle actually melts deep beneath the Earth's surface.

"This had to mean that the accepted mantle temperature estimate was too low, and actually, the mantle is 60 [degrees] C (about 110 F) hotter," Sarafian said. "That's a very significant jump!"

The discovery is "an appreciable correction" for the temperature of the mantle under the ocean, Paul Asimow, a professor of geology and geochemistry at the California Institute of Technology who was not involved with the study, wrote in an accompanying commentary in the journal Science.

The finding "will change interpretations of geophysical observations of the asthenosphere worldwide," Asimow wrote.

The study and commentary were published online today (March 2) in the journal Science.

NASA Spacecraft Avoids Collision with Martian Moon Phobos

Close call! NASA's Mars-orbiting spacecraft shifted course this week to avoid a future collision with Mars' dark moon Phobos.

The MAVEN spacecraft — short for Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN — has been orbitng Mars for more than two years, monitoring the Red Planet's atmosphere. On Feb. 28, it performed a rocket motor burn to speed up just a little bit and change trajectories to avoid crossing paths with Phobos, NASA officials said in a statement. The total speedup was just 0.4 meters per second, which is less than 1 mile per hour.

Researchers noticed that Phobos and MAVEN had a chance of colliding March 6. That gave them a week of advance notice in order to pull off the small maneuver to avoid a crash. Now, the two will miss each other by about 2.5 minutes (before, their orbits were crossing the same point within just 7 seconds of each other). This is the first time the spacecraft has moved to avoid encountering Phobos, officials said in the statement. [Mars Photos from NASA's MAVEN Probe]

NASA's MAVEN spacecraft has been orbiting Mars since September 2014, scrutinizing the planet's thin atmosphere.

"Kudos to the [Jet Propulsion Laboratory] navigation and tracking teams for watching out for possible collisions every day of the year, and to the MAVEN spacecraft team for carrying out the maneuver flawlessly," Bruce Jakosky, MAVEN principal investigator and researcher at the University of Colorado in Boulder, said in the statement.

Phobos is a lumpy, asteroid-size moon orbiting very close to Mars, streaked with stretch-mark grooves. Phobos and its slightly smaller sister moon Deimos are both dark gray, which makes them among the least reflective objects in the solar system. Phobos has been moving closer to Mars over time and is destined for an eventual descent into the planet — one collision that moon won't avoid.

One of the Best Explanations For Why We Haven’t Found Alien Life

So far, the only examples of sentient life we’ve found are right here on our own planet. It’s not for lack of trying, though—we’ve sent out spacecraft deep into our solar system and, so far, still remain alone. What if the problem isn’t where we are looking, though, but when?

A forthcoming study in Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticlelooks at the possibility that life as we know it may not require a star similar to our sun but could emerge on planets orbiting much smaller, weaker stars. If we do allow for the possibility of life around non-sunlike stars, then it turns out that the universe is likely to be much more habitable in the distant future than it is today.

“It’s natural for us to think that we are the most common form of life, simply because that’s the only one that we know of,” lead author of the paper, Harvard University’s Avi Loeb, told Gizmodo. “Therefore, people assumed that being next to star like the sun was the most likely place for life to emerge.”

If you throw out the assumption that we need a sun-like star, though, then there’s a whole new class of stars—smaller and less powerful than the sun, but far more common—that suddenly start to look like good candidates. They’re called low mass stars.

Although these stars throw out less light and heat than our powerful sun, they still emit enough to create potentially habitable zones that could support liquid water on close-orbiting rocky planets. Not only are these types of stars more common in the universe than sun-like stars, but they also have much considerably longer lifespans of more than 1,000 times that of the sun.

Using this information, Loeb calculated that it was much more likely for life to have emerged in the distant future around one of those low mass stars than to have emerged in our time on a sun-orbiting planet like Earth.

“If you allow low mass stars to have life, just like we find here on Earth, then the probability of life emerging in the future 10 trillion years from now is one thousand times bigger to find life,” noted Loeb.

And yet, we are not orbiting a low mass star, trillions of years in the future. We are here and now, orbiting our Sun—and this is the only place we’ve ever found sentient life. That suggests an intriguing explanation. Perhaps we are simply searching way too soon.

In other words, we may be alone in the universe right now. But that’s only because we showed up long before life really started to get going. If this hypothesis is the correct one, then the real explosion of life in the universe hasn’t yet happened—and likely won’t happen for trillions of years after us.

There’s also a second, alternate explanation that would account for all the facts. Perhaps there’s something about low mass stars which, even in zones that are technically habitable, suppresses life from ever forming.

“We still keep the notion that, perhaps, we are at the center of the biological universe, that we are really the only ones or special in that regard, or in terms of intelligence,” Loeb said. “If it turns out that we are rare and early on in the game then that would be really surprising to me because, so far, whenever we look we have found that we are not special and we are not the center of the universe.”

Figuring out which of these two possibilities are correct hinges on the question of whether low mass stars can indeed support life. We won’t necessarily have to wait several trillions of years to find out, though. Instead, Loeb suggests that the answers could be found in the next decade or so.

By sampling the atmospheres of planets around nearby low mass stars, researchers can search for biomarkers that would suggest whether these planets are capable of supporting life. If they keep finding atmospheres devoid of signs that they are capable of supporting life, then it’s likely that something about these low mass stars—perhaps their frequent solar flares or some other attribute—renders the planets orbiting them sterile.

If, however, they find that these planets do appear able to support life then it may be that the lack of other life in the universe is simply because we showed up too soon to see any of it.

Grey Aliens: Where are they from?

About the Greys

First, I will stop referring to the grey skinned, short alien as a “Zeta”. The name was derived from the starmap shown to Betty Hill during her abduction which was later believed to show the star system Zeta Reticuli. Betty has vehemently denied that her encounter was with this type of being.

Almost everything that we know about the Greys comes from people who have been abducted by them, or with their help. Some of this information is from hypnosis therapy, but a good deal of it is from actual memories.

Although there have been over 50 different kinds of aliens reported and cataloged in abduction scenarios, the Greys have been the most common since about 1980. Greys have been witnessed working with almost all of the other species. They are usually the beings that do the actual abduction, moving their victims to locations where the other types of aliens perform tests and conduct interviews.

Greys are about 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall, have no hair, unusually large heads (especially the cranium) and pointed jaws. Their mouths are very small and seldom move. Their noses are either extremely small by human comparison or completely missing, with two small holes showing. But perhaps the signature feature of Greys are their two large, almond shaped, black eyes.

People always remark that the body of Greys is extremely thin. They appear to have no striated muscles on their arms or legs. Their necks are so thin that it is often remarked that they shouldn’t support such a large head, yet they do. Their arms are longer than humans, ending below their knees, and they have hands with only four fingers of differing lengths.

The physical descriptions of Greys is always consistent when recalled by abductees. They also report that Greys are capable of limited telepathic communication — mostly reassuring their victims that “Everything will be fine”. They seem able to put humans into a trance by staring at them and it is often reported that “they read my soul”, referring to their ability to scan the mind of their victims.

You will notice that I am using the word “victims” here, since the abductees are most often taken against their will, traumatized by painful examinations and surgical procedures, and left with mental and physical damage. Indeed, their reassurance that everything will be “fine” is the first of many deceptions.

Have YOU been abducted?

You might think this is a foolish question but it’s not. A recent survey conducted by the Roper Organization asked American subjects certain questions designed to reveal abductees. Their results showed that, back in 1998, 1 of every 50 subjects had experienced an alien abduction. Typically, abductions are on-going and often begin in childhood.

According to Dr. Karla Turner, who has worked with over 400 abduction cases and has written the book “Into the Fringe”, the abduction phenomena includes some of the following details:

• Aliens, especially Greys, can alter our perceptions of our surroundings. They can create a kind of “virtual reality” in our mind and can appear to us any number of guises and shapes. Perhaps the mental “scanning” is used to select imagery to calm the victims and substitute memories of the abduction. They can be present with us in an invisible state and can make themselves only partially visible by this same ability.
• Abductees receive marks on their bodies. Scoops of flesh are mysteriously missing and straight-line scars sometimes appear on victims’ bodies. Other marks include single punctures, multiple punctures, large bruises, three-and four fingered claw marks, and trangles of every possible sort.
• Female abductees often suffer serious gynecological problems after their alien encounters, and sometimes these problems lead to cysts, tumors, cancer of the breast and uterus, and to hysterectomies.
• Abductees report being scoffed at, jeered at, and threatened by their alien captors. Painful genital and anal probes are performed — even on young children — and unknown fluids are injected into some abductees.
• Abductees report being taken to underground facilities where they see grotesque hybrid creatures, nurseries of hybrid humanoid fetuses, and vats of colored liquid filled with parts of bodies. Other abductees report seeing other humans in these facilities being drained of blood, mutilated, flayed, dismembered, and stacked like cords of wood. Some abductees have been threatened that they, too, will end up in this condition if they don’t co-operate with their alien captors.
• Aliens have forced their human abductees to have sexual intercourse with aliens and even with other abductees while groups of aliens observe these performances. In such encounters, the aliens have sometimes disguised themselves in order to gain the cooperation of the abductee, appearing in such forms as Jesus, Blessed Mary, the Pope, certain celebrities, and even the dead spouses of the abductees. The Grey’s ability to scan our minds allows them to assess our vulnerabilities and customize the abduction experience.
• Aliens make predictions of an imminent period of global chaos and destruction. They say that a certain number of humans will be “rescued” from the planet in order to continue the species, either on another planet or back on earth after the destruction is over. Many abductees report they don’t believe their alien captors and foresee instead a much more sinister use of the “rescued” humans.
• Many alien prophesies to contactees of the 50’s and even today have failed to come true or appear to be outright lies. Many contactees and abductees today are again delivering warnings of coming earth changes and disasters along with promises of help from aliens. They feel “choosen” to deliver these messages to mankind. Again the Grey’s know their vulnerable egos can compel their cooperation. The prophesies often create false hope and dependancy on their abductors whom they know little about.

Good and Bad Greys

OK. That’s pretty bad stuff — and very frightening. But it gets worse. So let’s get all the bad stuff out in the open before we explore the good side of Greys. The following is a well known conspiracy theory about a secret base where humans (military) and Greys work together. Apparently the Greys have the upper hand as you will see in this eye-witness account of what happened when their secret underground dwelling was accidentally disturbed.

Theories depicting Greys as evil   Phil Schneider, one of three people to survive the 1979 fire fight between the large Greys, US intelligence and military at the Dulce underground base, was found dead January 1996, due to what appears to be an execution style murder. He was found dead in his apartment with a piano wire wrapped around his neck. According to sources, it appeared that he repeatedly suffered torture before he was finally killed. Seven months prior to his death , Schneider did a lecture on the forces he had discovered at Dulce.Here is his story: Back in 1954, under the Eisenhower administration, the federal government decided to circumvent the Constitution of the United States and form a treaty with alien entities. It was called the 1954 Grenada Treaty, which basically made the agreement that the aliens involved could take a few cows and test their implanting techniques on a few human beings, but that they had to give details about the people involved. Slowly, the aliens altered the bargain until they decided they wouldn’t abide by it at all. Back in 1979, this was the reality, and the fire-fight at Dulce occurred quite by accident. “I was involved in building an addition to the deep underground military base at Dulce, which is probably the deepest base. It goes down seven levels and over 2.5 miles deep. At that particular time, we had drilled four distinct holes in the desert, and we were going to link them together and blow out large sections at a time. My job was to go down the holes and check the rock samples, and recommend the explosive to deal with the particular rock. As I was headed down there, we found ourselves amidst a large cavern that was full of outer-space aliens, otherwise known as large Greys. I shot two of them. At that time, there were 30 people down there. About 40 more came down after this started, and all of them got killed. We had surprised a whole underground base of existing aliens. Later, we found out that they had been living on our planet for a long time, perhaps a million years. This could explain a lot of what is behind the theory of ancient astronauts. “Anyway, I got shot in the chest with one of their weapons, which was a box on their body, that blew a hole in me and gave me a nasty dose of cobalt radiation. I have had cancer because of that. “I didn’t get really interested in UFO technology until I started work at Area 51, north of Las Vegas. After about two years recuperating after the 1979 incident, I went back to work for Morrison and Knudson, EG&G and other companies. At Area 51, they were testing all kinds of peculiar spacecraft. How many people here are familiar with Bob Lazar’s story? He was a physicist working at Area 51 trying to decipher the propulsion factor in some of these craft.   Dulce Base — under Mt. Archuleta, Dulce, New Mexico. Located close to the Colorado border and situated on the Jicarella Apache Indian Reservation. The town of Dulce is located off U.S. Route 64 population 900-1,700. A small town with one motel and a gas station. The base is located 2.5 miles northwest of Dulce and almost overlooks the town. Joint CIA-Alien base. 95 miles northwest of Los Alamos. Biogenetics Laboratory including but not limited to: Atomic Manipulation, cloning, studies of the human aura, advanced mind control applications, animal/human crossbreeding, visual and audio human chip implantation, abduction and feeding off of humans including children. The Second Largest Reptilian and Grey Base in North America. We have no way of knowing if the accounts of Grey activity at Dulce, New Mexico are true. Even the local people are a bit paranoid about what lies under the nearby mountains. Strange lights are often seen and some ranchers have reported seeing steam coming from air vents in the valleys. It’s almost sure thatsomething is under the earth — but whatever it is must be very secret.

Harvesting Souls?

Nigel Kerner has written books describing the Greys as a race of biologic robots, created long ago by some superior civilization that they outlived. Although they are self-aware, Greys are like the Tin Man in the Wizzard of Oz — only instad of a heart, Greys need our souls. Kerner describes the abduction phenomenon in terms of a “Harvest” where potential human candidates are examined and nurtured for that moment when they will have their spirit essence transferred to a waiting Grey.

This theory has some interesting support from social scientists who open our eyes to cultural trends that can only be described as pure “evil.” The widespread introduction of materialism, free pornography and secularism seem to have no other reward but to destroy personal integrity and morality. Poverty also enslaves the population and destroys the family structure. All these trends diminish our spiritual strength making our souls vulnerable and ripe for the harvest. And all these cultural shifts could well be the fruit of abductions and implanted ideologies.

As crazy as these theories sound, the abduction phenomenon is itself crazy, but very real. We should not easily dismiss the association of Greys with the underworld, decpetion and evil. “By way of deception thou shall do war.”

Next up… the other side of Greys

Next we’ll take a look at the side of Greys that some people consider beneficial to humans. We’ll see how they interact with some people to reveal future events and help our species. We’ll also see that all Greys are not alike. And some Greys are trying to correct the harm that has been inflicted on humans by their own race.

After the horrific stories of what humans have endured, and continue to endure in abductions, it seems an uphill battle to portray the Greys as benevolent and altruistic. Yet that is what many people believe. Their argument deserves consideration but requires a serious upgrade in our concept of good intentions and wise intervention.

Us and Them

Let’s get off planet Earth for a moment and consider the unimaginable vastness of the universe and its possibilities. Countless inhabited planets have evolved with intelligent life capable of technologies and philosophies that are thousands, millions or even billions of years ahead of what we understand. In this scenario we, humans, are part of the mix. We too are aliens.

While an extrateresstrial species visiting our planet must have the prerequisite understanding of the “big picture”, we don’t yet have this. In fact, we are still debating whether there is life anywhere else. Our experience with other species is limited to our interactions with the human, animal, plant and marine life on Earth, which we have routinely exploited.

Although diverse, the universe appears to have laws and patterns. Undoubtedly, intelligent beings have a pattern of evolution that can be recognized by beings who are familiar with, and have studied, a variety of inhabited worlds. The challenges faced by homo sapiens sapiens are likely not unique and extraterrestrial observers can assess our progress and pitfalls with some objectivity.

One of the “laws” of nature is that progress is the result of trial and error. Error is important — it is the great teacher. Once burnt, twice as shy. And so the concept of the Prime Directive, as introduced by Roddenberry’s Star Trek series, is valid.

This is perhaps the reason Greys do not stop wars, plagues, over population, pollution or famines. Like children, we must learn our lessons the hard way. Their apparent indifference does not justify our perception of evil intent.

But what about the abductions? Can we justify them?

Microcosm and Macrocosm

One of the reasons that the prime directive was instituted was to prevent evolving civilizations from obtaining technologies that outpaced their culture. Giving young children handguns is a recipe for a catastrophe. Our own tribal and warfare culture is experiencing this with the recent discovery of atomic fission.

What is true on Earth is also true in the universe. Unless a civilization has reached some type of peaceful wisdom or moral spirituality, interplanetary travel will bring with it those same unresolved competitive and exploitive traits. We should expect to see these same traits in some of our encounters with extraterrestrial visitors. But again, this pattern should be known and some aliens will likely try to prevent our exploitation.

I guess I am trying to paint a picture of “good” and “bad” encounters that are possible and likely have happened to us in our history. To some aliens we are seen as interesting and potentially good creatures, worthy of respect. To others we are seen as cattle. The nature of the abduction experience can thus be varied.

Greys seem to be both good and bad. This has led some to believe that they are at conflict with themselves. Abductees speak of “service to self” Greys as the bad ones and “service to others” as the good Greys. This apparent split in ideology came about in the 1980s. It is believed that the “service to self” Greys had either threatened or offered technology to the governments and military in return for their unhindered molestation of humanity and that certain “service to others” Greys revolted, forming their own camp.

Zeta Talk

The split in ideologies with Greys happened after Dr. Karla Turner’s documentation of the horrific alien abductions. Her descriptions led one to believe that the Greys were custodians or shepherds of human beings, allowing other malevolent aliens to have their way with us. Indeed Greys do appear to be the stewards of the planet. They have apparently been here a long time and have messed with us continuously.

The “service to others” Greys are a more recent phenomenon. These beings supposedly speak through selected humans, giving messages about peace, the environment and planetary change. Unfortunately, their method of communication with the public is distorted by the messengers and is greatly diluted.

I’m not sure what we can make of these kinds of interactions. Wikipedia has a list of over 40 alien contactees who have, over the years, given various predictions and information designed to save humanity. So far, the Greys track record has been abysmal. Yet each contactee apparently was sincere and took up the role of messenger with little financial reward. Many were also subjected to great ridicule, nevertheless, it seems they truly believed in the reality of their their abductions and special status.

We can only wonder why Greys — even good Greys — would treat their human associates with such disdain. Are they really good? Or is the whole idea about “service to others” just another deception?

Dr. Karla Turner reminds us that the Greys first claimed the abductions were to regenerate their dying species. Later they were to uplift our human species. Now they are sorry for their callous treatment and want to help us escape planetary disaster. Yet the horrific abductions and deception continues.

For now, the answer to the question of their origin remains a mystery. But their new residence is surely our planet. We can only hope that they intend to share this world with us and that they don’t have a more sinister agenda.

1. Our Aging Universe

Light does more than just illuminate. It can also help chart the history of the universe. Astronomers in Hawaii captured this image—made with a combination of wide, deep, and ultra-deep imaging—to study light in the universe going back billions of years. Dimmer areas represent light emitted when the universe was much younger. The project has only just started, but so far, researchers have collected data equivalent to 10 million high school yearbook photos, all of which are available for perusal online.

2. Deep-Sea Jelly

The Pacific Ocean is full of mysteries, some of which are more opaque than others. But thanks to the work of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, we're able to see new, high-resolution images of this deep-sea jellyfish, the rhopalonematid trachymedusa, doing it's blobby thing. The little alien was filmed deep in the milky waters of the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa, where the administration currently runs a research expedition. [H/T Gizmodo.]

3. Aurora Rockets

NASA has its own earthly mysteries to study. This year, the administration is focusing its magnifying glass on the Aurora Borealis, the Arctic's family friendly, all-natural light show. The goal of the "Auroral Arcs" mission is to understand what factors influence the formation of the physical phenomenon. To do so, they sent four rockets straight through it, and now plan to analyze the flight patterns. The idea is that the rocket's landing is influenced by the same electric fields and physical forces that cause the Northern Lights' movements.

4. Great Red Spot

There are a million reasons Elon Musk isn't considering colonizing Jupiter. It's one of the "gas giants," so it probably lacks a totally solid center (meaning you could hypothetically travel through its core and pop out the other side), and it's full of substances unfavorable to human survival including methane, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide. It's also home to the Great Red Spot, captured in this image from the Juno spacecraft. Don't let the name fool you—this is not a vintage bedtime story. It's actually a rollicking storm twice the diameter of Earth, and it's not likely to blow over anytime soon. While we probably won't ever visit, staring at it from afar is still pretty great.

5. Life Before The EPA

Rivers are not typically supposed to burn. In fact, they tend to be the sources of water used to put out a fire. But in 1952, Ohio's Cuyahoga River caught on fire due to years of flammable manufacturing and sewage byproducts being expelled directly into it. New Horizons’ planetary scientist Michael Summers, who specialises in the structure and evolution of planetary atmospheres, hailed the evidence for life was “in front of your eyes”.

Experts made the revelation as they examined the early data from the first spacecraft to zoom pass the planet.

Mr Michael Summers said: "The connection with astrobiology is immediate — it's right there in front of your face.

”These are the things you need for life: organics, raw material and energy.”

The New Horizons flyby passed the orb last year and the data finished downloading to Earth in October.

Scientists will spend years examining the rich data and are set to make further discoveries about the planet.

The top scientist added: "I've been studying Pluto all my life, and never expected to talk about these things being there."

Summers has co-authored two research papers on the topic, The Photochemistry of Pluto’s Atmosphere as Illuminated by New Horizons and Constraints on the Microphysics of Pluto’s Photochemical Haze from New Horizons Observations.

NASA KNEW ABOUT ALIEN STRUCTURES ON THE MOON – AND THESE OLD PHOTOS PROVE IT!

You’re a space agency and you know the public is expecting hi-res images of the Moon surface. What do you do? Bring out the ol’ airbrush!

 

In 1994, a joint mission between NASA and the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) saw the successful launch of the Deep Space Program Science Experiment, formally known as Clementine.

 

One month after launch, the 500-pound spacecraft positioned itself into lunar orbit and began transmitting photos of our satellite’s surface. Equipped with state of the art imaging technology, Clementine was more than able to capture hi-res photos of the Moon’s crust. And during its 300+ orbits, it had plenty of chances to gather meaningful data.

 

 

Those on the ground who were expecting to see the high resolution images were in for a surprise when the Navy released its first set of images. They were heavily pixelated and in low resolution .gif format, and little detail could be extracted from the images made available to the general public. What gives? they asked themselves.

 

How could those blurry images be the best available format sent back by a $200 million piece of space equipment? The whole thing remained a mystery for years. But slowly, people began to realize the images they were given showed obvious signs of tampering and censorship. Multiple areas of lunar interest had been purposefully blurred out as if NASA and the Navy were intentionally hiding something.

 

In many photos, the Clementine data showed blacked out areas, like the one in the image below.

 

 

This is the Rainer Gamma region, a 40 mile-wide albedo region west of the Reiner crater. The official explanation for the black square is ‘data loss’ but we all know this isn’t the case.

 

The next photo is another great example of image manipulation. As with the image before, the same ‘data loss’ pretext was invoked, but even to the untrained eye, this looks like intentional smudging. They could have said data corruption but it looks like they weren’t even trying to cover their actions

 

 

This deliberate suppression becomes even more blatant in the famous lunar tower photos.

 

 

Even though they smudged the hell out of those unexplained structures, the cover-up artists managed to overlook a tiny detail. Find the center of the image, go right a little, if you reached the smudged lunar tower you’ve gone too far. Notice anything? Zoomed image below shows what I’m talking about.

 

 

This definitely looks like a solid object hovering well above the lunar surface. You can distinguish its triangular shape and even the fins at its rear end. These details can also be seen in the shadow the object casts below.

 

Even from sketchy, low-resolution images like these ones, the curious and free mind can extract some conclusions.

• NASA and the Navy should have provided photographs with a much greater level of detail. The fact that they failed to do so suggests some hidden motivation was at play;

• The intentional smudging further cements the idea that alien structures on the Moon are a possibility;

• If we’re being duped regarding these alien structures, it stands to reason we’re being subjected to a battery of other, equally-disconcerting lies.

Naturally, these assumptions are backed by the multitude of valid and verifiable conspiracy theories, but don’t let me tell you about what goes on the Moon. Instead, take a look at the following video where government whistleblower Karl Wolf describes what he saw during his involvement with NASA’s Lunar Orbiter project.

This video shows a UFO moving over to a triangle group thats in sitting in delta position. I also love that the person pulled their car over to take a more steady video of the UFOs. This could be the Tall Whites since they have a base just a few miles away over at Nellis AFB. One thing the Tall Whites hate...and thats being told what to do or not to do...they just do it. They probably felt cramped in the base and wanted to fly around to have a look.

UFO Orb Fleet Over Conway, Washington On Sept 2016, Photos, UFO Sighting News.

This report just in. Its about a fleet of glowing orbs buzzing around a hill area in Washington back in September of 2016. As you can see from his photos (I didn't change them in any way) the glowing UFOs stay in a group of 4 while a single orb explores the ground. This keeps the ground one safe from being seen to closely, and the UFOs higher up are just there to keep look out.

Event date: 9/29/16 20:45-21:30 My friends and I were at a place we have previously seen UFOs at, catching up, when we noticed at an approximate heading of 190 a craft that was first assumed to be a plane. First photograph shows first object approximately 1° below horizon. Craft is later seen 4-5° above horizon with an estimated distance of 2-8 miles. Shortly after first observation, a smaller light emerged from the first, and took up position near it. Then, a second did the same, along with a 3rd. Emerged lights seemed to orbit in irregular patterns around original object, as the larger one slowly seemed to move to a heading of 180° After roughly 10 minutes of observation, the 3 other objects seemingly rejoined the original, as though they were docking. 

 (Witness reporting is a pilot, and states that helicopters are incapable of docking, and that these craft, including craft from previous sightings in same location, behaved in ways impossible for even the most advanced military aircraft.)

The 4 objects were completely silent, and operated in a manner resembling spacecraft in orbit, though the objects maintained geological position ± 5° for 45 minutes, unlike an orbiting craft. Unfortunately, it was dark, and any surface details of the objects were impossible to see. Images will be provided in hopes that the reader of this report will observe them with photo editing software and share their observations with the witness. At 2129 hours, craft was last photographed before disappearing in the following 5 minutes. Craft was observed to 'fade away' instead of departing. (Witness states that standard night-flying procedure involves the constant use of lights to display location to local traffic. To turn off lights at 9:30 pm would be unsafe.

Massive UFO Surfaces From The Lake And Flies Off

A triangular UFO was observed surfacing from Green Bay, a sub-basin of Lake Michigan, near Little Suamico in Wisconsin before flying off, according to the witness testimony filed in the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) reporting database. The witness estimated the unidentified flying object to be 100 to 150 feet in length, which was apparently seen at 2:10 in the morning on November 28, local time.

Wisconsin MUFON investigator Susan Birttnen said the witness estimated the speed of the UFO to be about 35 knots. The object in question was so close that the witness was able to hear a muffled jet sound. As the strange aerial object emerged from the water, it turned on its side while flying towards the west and gained elevation.

Birttnen closed the case as unknown based on the evidence and the provided witness’ data.

The unidentified witness included a detailed description of the object. According to his account, the color was dark, and it had blue flashing lights. The distance was less than a thousand feet, and the elevation was approximately five hundred feet.  The side of the triangle, according to the witness, was between a hundred and a hundred fifty feet.

The witness somewhat believes that the UFO could have been a top secret craft developed through alien technology reverse engineering and run by the U.S. Air Force.

Below is a video that shows an unexplained anomaly that occurred on NASA instruments using 304 Angstroms. An ultraviolet instrument shows an extreme and sudden change in both a composite image and again on SDO’s camera. Immediately the producers of the video went to the GONG network and were able to capture anomalies that happened at the exact same time. Within minutes of having captured these strange flashes the pictures began to disappear from the websites.

Since bizarre flashing has already been reported this month and the last few months I felt these images should be called to your attention. I am not pretending to know specifically what happened but, it appears to have happened in the corona of the Sun and may involve this helium cone that has been brought to everybody’s attention.

At twilight on Saturday, about 15 glowing paper lanterns were sent into the sky over Longmont as a memorial to two men killed in a DUI-related car crash exactly five years earlier, on Feb. 25, 2012.

But the floating memorial left a handful of people in Longmont perplexed by the sight of mysterious lights, evoking thoughts of spaceships, UFOs and other extraterrestrial activities.

"I thought I was hallucinating or something," said Joyce Brooks, one of three Longmont residents who told the Times-Call they'd seen the objects.

For the fourth year since the crash, friends and family of Anthony Sandoval-Palma and Jerry Martinez congregated at Ninth Avenue and Hover Street, lighting the reddish-orange lanterns and letting them float up toward the heavens.

"We watch them until we don't see them anymore," Mary Moreno, a friend of Palma's since third grade, said Thursday.

In years past, they've lit as many as 30 lanterns on Martinez's birthday — Feb. 21 — and the day of the crash.

The two 27-year-olds were killed when they car they were riding in rolled on St. Vrain Road near North 75th Street and ejected Sandoval-Palma and Martinez. The car's driver, Adolph Lopez, pleaded guilty in 2013 to DUI-related vehicular homicide.

At the most recent memorial this past weekend, Moreno said, she joked with Jessica Craft about the first year they sent the paper lanterns aloft. She said, "Remember, when the newspaper thought they were aliens?"

Moreno said the Times-Call questioned readers about it back then. She said she got a laugh out of witnesses expressing the same curiosity this year.

Craft, whose husband was close friends with both men, said they're planning on lighting lanterns again May 3, on Sandoval-Palma's birthday, and every year on the anniversary of the crash.

"I think it's very special that all of us get together," she said.

Aliens?

A Longmont resident named Sue, who spoke on the condition her last name not be used, was the first to call the Times-Call saying she was surprised not more people had been talking about the lights.

She said she thought the first object she saw on Saturday was a drone — until she saw another one, and then many more, trailing it.

"I am not an alien person, that's not where my head goes, but the thought that came into my head was, 'Is this an alien invasion?'" Sue said. "And then I thought no, there has to be a logical explanation."

It kept her up at night, she said, so she turned to Google for an explanation. Her search of "Six Orange UFO fireball phenomenon 2013" produced a still image of something similar to what she had seen, though the objects moved more in the video.

Brooks called the Times-Call after Sue's comments were printed in the newspapers's anonymous TC Line feature, saying she was relieved somebody else had come forward as a witness, otherwise she thought she was "going crazy."

A third woman, Joyce Todd, who said she is 90 years old, called to say she also saw red and pale yellow lights. She said it's hard to say how high in the sky they were, but they were visible in the distance from where she lives in the Fox Hill neighborhood.

"They're from space, there's no question in my mind," Todd said.

The lights hung in the air in a cluster at about 11 p.m. Saturday, she said, until they disappeared at about 2:30 a.m. She said she's positive they weren't airplanes, and her most recent sighting wasn't the first. She said she's seen lights in space all her life, and asserts they're real.

"I've seen so many things like this in my lifetime, it's just mind boggling," she said.

Educated guesses

Local astronomy researchers said they did not track anything that would seem exceptional to humans outside the space realm — Venus, fireballs, satellite break-ups or even UFOs — in the air over Longmont that night, meaning the objects to them remained a mystery.

Vern Raben, president of the Longmont Astronomical Society, said the club's all-sky camera shows nothing at the time the flying objects were reportedly seen.

"I'd guess it's something localized, closer to the ground, and not astronomical," he said in an email.

The National UFO Reporting Center, based in Washington state, did not respond to messages, though its database shows somebody reported seeing "orange fireballs, bright, scoping the forest" about 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in Nederland. The list of Colorado reports did not extend past that date.

Leonard David, Boulder-area science journalist and author, said the description reminds him of either a misinterpreted fireball or a spacecraft breakup, such as one he saw about a year ago.

"When I hear multiple things when they're flying at the same speed, moving, that look like they're all connected, that's what some of those satellite breakups look like," he said.

But according to the American Meteor Society fireball log, two nearby fireballs were inconsistent with the time the objects were reportedly seen in Longmont. And according to the Aerospace rocket body tracker, a reentry of an SL-4 rocket body on Friday from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Russia was thousands of miles from Colorado.

Chris Peterson, operator of Cloudbait Observatory in Guffey, said objects in the high atmosphere over Longmont are usually visible from his location, but he tracked nothing that night on his camera.

"Given the time, objects at typical aviation heights might still be reflecting sunlight, giving the described color," he said. "Less likely, but still possible, would be a group of research balloons, which could be as high as the stratosphere and could reflect sunlight."

He believes that it was most likely a low-altitude phenomenon, such as aircraft or balloons, and nothing as high as space or descending from orbit.

Peterson's guesses weren't far from the truth.

Extraterrestrials Aren’t a Threat to Theology, Because They Aren’t New to the Ancient Church

The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration captured the attention and imagination of a global audience late last month when NASA scientists announced the discovery of seven planets orbiting a star dubbed TRAPPIST-1 (an acronym for Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope). These planets are a mere 40 light-years away from Earth, all of which are Earth-sized, and three of which are in the so-called “goldilocks” or habitable zone – meaning that their positions relative to their “home” star suggest they could have liquid water and temperatures capable of sustaining life as we know it.

The headlines were sensational: a few almost announcing the discovery of whole extraterrestrial civilizations; most seizing the moment to move copy and sell soap with variations on the theme of, “‘Incredible’ Star System Could Hold Life“, with follow-up stories announcing, “The Prospects for Life on TRAPPIST-1 Keep Getting Better” and “Soon, We’ll Know if there’s Life on TRAPPIST-1’s Exoplanets“. 

The interest is not only scientific, but also theological, with the leading English-language e-journal of Catholic affairs, Crux, holding its breat while asking, “Could Catholicism Handle the Discovery of Extraterrestrial Life?”

The fact is, such speculation is neither new, nor controversial.

The ancient Greeks split on the question, which they treated as a speculative scientific one; Arabic literature in the high Islamic period entertained the idea in fiction (notably in the “Adventures of Bulukiya”  portion of The Arabian Nights, in tales from the 486th to the 537th night); Nicholas of Cusa openly speculated that some heavenly bodies, at least, would almost certainly be inhabited; C.S. Lewis famously wrote a Space Trilogy in the middle of the last century.

The best starting point for reflection upon the ancient world’s fascination with this topic is The Extraterrestrial Life Debate: Antiquity -1915 – A Source Book, edited by Michael J. Crowe.

And so, if you are asking whether the discovery of extraterrestrial life would pose a challenge to the basic tenets of Catholic faith, then the answer is that it would pose no real trouble. There’s nothing new (under the sun) about the questions such a discovery would elicit.

However, the recent find does offer an occasion to do some serious thinking and ask challenging questions about life, the universe, and our place in it . . .

“If we’ve settled on the fat that there’s nobody out there,” Fr. Brian Reedy SJ concludes, “then we would – kind of – rationally miss them, and feel alone . . .” –

First, though: the science behind the discovery is on its own truly astounding.

“What we actually know is deduced: it is modeled from the data,” explained Fr. Brian Reedy SJ, a biophysicist, who – along with his students at the Jesuit Cristo Rey Preparatory School in Houston, Tx. – has designed experiments that have been conducted aboard the International Space Station, and who is currently pursuing a PhD in Moral Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

“We haven’t seen them, and we won’t see them for a while, because they are so distant,” Reedy told Vocaris Media’s flagship Thinking with the Church podcast. “What we see,” Fr. Reedy explained, “is changes to the intensity of the star,” measurements that require extremely sensitive telescopic hardware and highly sophisticated software.

“Just think about the complexity,” involved in isolating the static created by atmospheric interference (the telescope used to make the observations is a terrestrial instrument located in Chile), “to focus in on the steady signal, looking for variations,” Reedy said. “There’re so many things to marvel at in this story,” Reedy offered, “the science itself is fascinating.”

Fr. Reedy SJ speaks in detail about the marvels of the science in the special edition of Thinking with the Church.

He also addresses the questions the discovery  occasions at the intersection of religion and science, including: how we might share the Gospel with an extraterrestrial race, why we might share it and to what end; whether aliens might be capable of incorporation into the Body of Christ, both as a matter of ecclesiology and sacramental economy; and what guidance there might be for such an eventuality in Church history and scriptural typology.

Fr. Reedy SJ offers some surprising and challenging answers, especially regarding the desire to know, once and for all, whether we are alone in the universe.

“I think that – I would say there are two causes to that [wonder]: one is just natural curiosity – like, when you look out into space, and you see the vastness of it, and you see all these little stars that all might have planets – and you just wonder, ‘Is there anybody out there?’ and that’s one kind of question,” Reedy said.

“‘Are we alone in the universe?’ That is a different kind of question,” Reedy continued. “‘Is there anybody out there?’ I relate to that really strongly. ‘Are we alone in the universe?’ I don’t resonate with that question, and I think that – partly – the thing that is missing is that, in Western Civilization we now live in a kind of forcibly depopulated universe,” He explained. “To the medieval mind,” he went on to say, “creation was deeply populated with other beings, spiritual beings: so, the average Christian would believe he had a guardian angel, who was really a rational companion to him in his life, and believed in angelic beings and such, that populated the universe; but also, the kind of real, lived sense of going to Mass and knowing that the whole Communion of Saints was present with you at the Mass.”

Indeed, as the great altars of Christendom attest, the whole Church, past, present and future, from Adam into eternity, is present each time the Mass is offered.

“There are still plurals,” Fr. Reedy noted in reference to the pertinent particular of grammatical structure found in the prayer texts printed in the Missal. “Even if a priest is forced to say Mass by himself because there is no congregation, he still uses the plurals, because he still knows that everyone is there – so, you’re not alone – you’re never alone – and so I don’t connect to that [question] because I think that ‘Are we alone?’ dimension is partly coming from the fact that our universe has been so radically depopulated, and relatively recently.”

“I believe that we are attuned naturally to truth,” Fr. Reedy said, “and I believe in the Communion of Saints and in spiritual beings, and so therefore I think we have a sense that they’re there.”

“If we’ve settled on the fat that there’s nobody out there,” he concluded, “then we would – kind of – rationally miss them, and feel alone: so, on the first part, I’m completely enthralled with the question, ‘Is there anybody out there?’ – like, when you look out, are there people looking back at us? – but, ‘Are we alone?’ – I don’t resonate to that one.”

First trailer for sci-fi film Phoenix Forgotten explores real-life UFO sighting

The new sci-fi film Phoenix Forgotten aims to tell a fictional story around the real-life UFO sighting nicknamed the "Phoenix Lights" that appeared over Arizona back in 1997.

The story follows three people who take off into the desert to investigate the UFO sighting and find some alien horrors. The film is found footage, so your mileage may vary depending on the format -- think The Blair Witch Project with aliens and a touch of "based on a true-ish story" to make it a bit creepier. It looks like a fairly low-to-mid budget horror flick, though Ridley Scott did produce, so that helps.

The true story behind the concept stems from a UFO sighting on March 13, 1997, when hundreds of people saw lights that appeared to be a large spacecraft hovering over Arizona. In a classic Blair Witch-y twist, the film is being billed as the "recently unearthed footage" left behind by the trio that takes off to try to find the craft.

George Bush Refuses to Talk About UFO Files

Roughly 55 percent of Americans think the government would keep alien life secret if given a chance, according to a new YouGov poll.

The poll found U.S. residents were deeply skeptical of how the government would handle first contact with aliens.

When asked “if we discover or are discovered by an alien species one day, do you think it is more likely that the government would tell the public or keep it secret?” only 19 percent agreed the government would tell the public.

Republicans were more likely to be skeptical of the government’s trustworthiness than Democrats, with 61 percent saying the government would keep it secret. Only 51 percent of Democrats held that opinion. Republicans and Democrats are about equally likely to believe in UFOs.

Americans were unsure if aliens would be friendly to humanity, with 29 percent suspecting they would be, while 19 percent suspected any alien life would be hostile. Roughly 12 percent of U.S. adults believe that the government has already made contact with aliens, but is covering up that fact.

The poll was conducted in late February from a representative sample of 2,008 U.S. adults.

When pollsters surveyed the group about surveying the seven planets around the TRAPPIST-1 solar system for aliens, 40 percent of Americans think the planets likely contain some form of extra-terrestrial life, while only 16 percent thought they probably don’t.

Safe space travel: Protecting alien worlds from earthlings - and vice versa

The discovery of seven new Earth-like planets has risen hope to find extraterrestrial life. During space explorations, though, researchers have to be careful to avoid contaminating other worlds with life from Earth.

The dwarf star Trappist-1 and its seven newly discovered planets are promising targets to search for alien life  - but researchers might not even have to travel that far.

"We might find alien life in our own backyard of our solar system," said NASA's Kevin Peter Hand at the meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Boston this month.

Astrobiologists searching for extraterrestrial life pin their hopes on Jupiter's moons Europa, Callisto and Ganymede as well as on Saturn's moon Enceladus.

"They are covered in ice but beneath there might be oceans with rocky seafloors," said Hand, chief scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena.

NASA plans to launch a rocket in 2024 sending a lander to Europa which will explore the moon, take samples and possibly "find life that is alive today." 

Sure, the Europa mission probably won't discover intelligent, human-like life and possibly not even fish-like life. But bacteria, which have developed there, would be just as fascinating for researchers.

Although, there is one thing they have to ensure in the first place.

The worst-case scenario for astrobiologists is to one day find life on Europa or elsewhere which has been brought there by humans themselves.

"We don't want to study bacteria from Florida [on other planets]," said Norine Noonan, biologist at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg. 

Just as much as researchers have to prevent potential alien organisms from contaminating Earth, they work hard on protecting space from Earth-based life.

"Any equipment that is sent to touch down on moons or other planets is sterilized several times during its construction", Christian Gritzner of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), told DW.

Rovers, landers and other equipment that are sent to space are built in a clean facility, heated up to over 110 degree centigrade (230 degree Fahrenheit) for several hours or even days, they are irradiated with UV light and sanitized with solvents - measures to kill any bacterium or fungus that might try to get a free ride into outer space.

The Europa lander will also be wrapped in a biobarrier, NASA's Kevin Hand explained - an aluminum foil-like sheath that keeps out any contaminants until it reaches Jupiter's moon.

"The truth is still out there," Noonan pointed out. "Let's not destroy the opportunity to find it."

Protecting other worlds from Earth-based organisms is not just a voluntary moral conception which some responsible researchers cling to. It is international space law.

United Nations Outer Space Treaty which entered into force in October 1967 calls for all states to"avoid harmful contamination of space and celestial bodies." The treaty came into being in preparation of the landing on the moon.

People were afraid that a visit to the moon might bring uninvited guests to Earth, for example, a deadly microorganism that causes a catastrophic outbreak - just like in the sci-fi novel "The Andromeda Strain" by Michael Crichton.

All rock samples that were flown in from the Moon - as well as the first men on the moon - were put into strict quarantine when entering Earth. Only later, when researchers had realized there is nothing alive on the Moon, rules were relaxed. Still later, people realized that contamination works in both directions. 

"NASA found strange bumps on the lens of some camera equipment of the unmanned Surveyor landers that had been sent to the Moon three years before," said Christian Gritzner. "Nobody knew what it was."

These bumps turned out to be flu viruses. They seem to have been delivered from Earth to the Moon with the help of some technician who had sneezed on the equipment, Gritzner explained.

"Even after 3 years in space, these viruses were still able to reproduce in the lab."

According to Gritzner, this was the moment that people realized how crucial planetary protection really was.

"It is unlikely we'll find life on Mars today," said Norine Noonan. Even if there had once been bacteria or other simple organisms, they are possibly long gone. Still, researchers might find remnants of previous life on Mars and get to know how it emerged and what it was like.

Unlike the Moon and many other celestial bodies in our universe, Mars has an atmosphere and a surface that can harbor life - that makes traveling there even more complicated.

"Any hitchhiker we might deliver there can spread," said NASA's Kevin Hand. According to the European Space Agency ESA, the ExoMars project which tries to find life on Mars, even built a new cleanroom in which to construct itslander Schiaparelli. The landing module even had a portable "clean tent" which traveled with it to its launch site in Baikonur.

"We cannot bake humans"

The challenge to avoid contamination gets even harder when astronauts join their equipment on its travel to Mars - i.e. on a manned spaceflight.

"We are spewing fountains of bacteria," said Norine Noonan, adding that it is impossible to sterilize humans: "We cannot put them into an oven and bake them."

It will still be a long way to figure out which measures will protect Mars from life on Earth during such a journey.

"Maybe a habitat on Mars will have a sanitizing air lock spraying disinfectants," Gritzner said. Astronauts would have to pass the lock every time they enter the Mars surface from their space settlement.

But there will be time enough to figure that out, Gritzner adds, as "a manned spaceflight to Mars is still a long way off."

Discovery of world’s oldest fossil suggests there was alien life on Mars

British scientists have found the remains of microbal bugs in what is the world’s oldest fossil suggesting similar organisms once existed on Mars.

The fossil, which was found in Quebec, Canada, shows life on earth was thriving as far back as 4.2 billion years, hundreds of millions of years earlier than previously thought.

This makes the prospect of life on the Red Planet a distinct possibility, as it was also bombarded with comets that are thought to have brought the building blocks of life to earth.

The bugs are believed to have thrived in a deep sea hydrothermal vent system – volcanic activity on the ocean floor.

Scientists, from University College London, believe the minieral-rich environment in the hot water surrounding the vent may have provided habitats for the early life form.

Matthew Dodd, a member of the UK team, said: ‘Our discovery supports the idea that life emerged from hot, sea floor vents shortly after planet Earth formed.

‘This speedy appearance of life on Earth fits with other evidence of recently discovered 3,700 million year old sedimentary mounds that were shaped by micro-organisms.’

Previously the oldest reported microfossils, from Western Australia, were dated at 3.460 million years old.

However, some experts believe they may be non-biological features in the rocks.

Lead scientist Dr Dominic Papineau, from UCL’s Earth Sciences department, said: ‘The fact we unearthed them from one of the oldest known rock formations suggests we’ve found direct evidence of one of Earth’s oldest life forms.’

The scientists believe the find, that was co-funded by Nasa, could help the search for life on other planets including Mars.

The bugs were living on Earth at a time when Mars is thought to have had oceans or lakes of liquid water on its surface.

Mr Dodd, a PhD student, told the Telegraph:  ‘Early Mars and early Earth are very similar places, so we may expect to find life on both planets at this time.

‘We know that life managed to get a foothold and evolve rapidly on Earth. So if we have life evolving in hydrothermal vent systems maybe even 4.2 billion years ago when both planets had liquid water on their surface, then we would expect both planets to develop early life.

‘If we do future sample returns from Mars and look at similarly old rocks and we don’t find evidence of life then this certainly may point to the fact that Earth might have been a very special exception, and life may just have arisen on Earth.’
