NASA’s $1 Billion Jupiter Probe Just Sent Back Stunning New Photos Of Jupiter

Traveling above Jupiter at more than 130,000 miles per hour, NASA’s $1 billion Juno probe took its ninth set of stunning flyby images on October 24. But the sun slipped between the giant planet and Earth for more than a week, blocking the spacecraft from beaming home its precious bounty of data.

Now that the conjunction is over, however, new raw image data from Juno’s ninth perijove — as the spacecraft’s high-speed flybys are called — has poured in. Researchers posted it all online on Tuesday, and a community of amateurs and professionals has been busily processing the data to yield colorful and stunning new pictures of Jupiter.

“Brand new Jupiter pics from @NASAJuno Perijove 09! What a blimmin’ gorgeous/diabolical planet,” Seán Doran, a UK-based graphic artist who regularly processes NASA images, tweeted on Tuesday.

Below are some fresh, close-up images of Jupiter, along with other unbelievable views captured from earlier perijoves.

In the most recent flyby, as with the previous eight, Juno’s flyby started over Jupiter’s north pole.

The spacecraft then swept within a few thousand miles of the gas giant, capturing stunning high-resolution views of its cloud tops.

At its closest approach to Jupiter during each flyby, the robot briefly becomes the fastest human-made object in the solar system, reaching speeds of around 130,000 miles per hour.

Then Juno flew back out into deep space, passing over Jupiter’s South Pole on its exit. Churning storms at the poles constantly change their appearance.

Researchers upload the raw data sent by the probe to the mission’s website.

There, enthusiasts take the drab, mostly gray image data and process it all into true-to-life color photos.

Many snapshots of Jupiter take on an artistic quality.

Others dazzle with their detail of the planet’s thick cloud bands and powerful storms. Jupiter is made up predominantly of hydrogen. The simple, basic gas, a prime ingredient on the sun, accounts for 90 percent of the atmosphere. Nearly 10 percent is composed of helium.

The planet’s atmosphere is a turbulent mess of hydrogen and helium gases. The atmosphere of Jupiter is the largest planetary atmosphere in the Solar System. It is mostly made of molecular hydrogen and helium in roughly solar proportions; other chemical compounds are present only in small amounts and include methane, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and water.Some of the tempests are large enough to swallow planet Earth — or at least a good chunk of it.

There are also traces of molecules like ammonia, methane, sulfur, and water, which give the clouds different colors and properties.

The mixture sometimes creates features that look like faces (as seen on the left in this image).

Other times, shining-white clouds fill up most of a band. With an average temperature of minus 234 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 145 degrees Celsius), Jupiter is frigid even in its warmest weather. Unlike Earth, whose temperature varies as one moves closer to or farther from the equator, Jupiter’s temperature depends more on height above the surface.

Many cloud bands have features called chevrons. These atmospheric disturbances blow at several hundreds of miles per hour and sometimes zig-zag through a band, or punch through into others.

The spacecraft will continue to document Jupiter for as long as NASA can keep it going. But not forever.

Tourist is shocked to see a 'doughnut-shaped UFO' floating above a lake in a picture he took in China

A Taiwanese businessman claimed he had caught a doughnut-shaped UFO on camera in south-west China. 

Salesman John Chen said he took some picturesque shots of the famous Lake Dian after attending a trade show in Yunnan Province on November 1.

Later on, the 44-year-old and his sister-in-law were shocked to spot a mysterious ring-shaped object in sky when they were looking at one picture at home in Taipei.

Mr Chen, above, sends the pictures to Philip Mantle, a leading UFO expert, for analysis as the flying object has a ridged shape that looks like a doughnut (under).

The object in question has ridged sides and a hole in the middle, and is similar to the shape of a doughnut.

Mr Chen decided to find a UFO expert in a bid to find out what it could be.

Philip Mantle, who is said to be a leading British UFO researcher, told Mr Chen that he could not explain what the flying 'doughnut' was. Mr Mantle called the incident an 'open verdict'.

However, Mr Chen said: 'It just has to be a UFO. It's a strange doughnut shape in the sky.

'The strange thing is I didn't see it at the time. It was my wife's sister who spotted them. She said there was something in the pictures and I just thought she was joking.'

Mr Chen then checked with his colleagues. They shared the photos that they had taken on the day, but his colleagues did not capture any strange object in the sky.

Upon receiving photos sent by Mr Chen, British UFO expert Philip Mantle doubted for the legitimacy of the images. 

'What I can say is that the photographer in question here has always cooperated and seems to be genuinely puzzled by the images on his photos.

He did not see the alleged UFO at the time of taking the photos. Instead it was a relative that noticed them when he posted them on social media.'

Mantel concluded that there was no proof that the pictures were a hoax but the object could also be 'some air born debris that has been caught by the camera;   

'More study needs to be done on these photos before any definite conclusion can be reached, so in the meantime it remains an open verdict,' he added.

NASA DISCOVERS GIANT MANTLE PLUME THAT’S MELTING ANTARCTICA FROM BELOW

Antarctica has been in the news a lot recently, with gloomy tales of the astonishing icy continent melting and collapsing because of the effects of climate change.

SUPER VOLCANO DISCOVERED UNDERNEATH ANTARCTICA

However, according to scientists in one particular area of the continent something else is at work too. Researchers working for NASA have discovered that there is a massive super-volcano underneath Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica which is generating almost as much heat as the infamous Yellowstone supervolcano and effectively melting the ice from underneath the Earth.

The research team have uncovered an enormous amount of hot rock underneath Marie Byrd Land which lies between the gigantic Ross Ice Shelf and the Ross Sea. According to the team, the heat surrounding this area is creating huge lakes and rivers underneath the ice sheet. This heat, they claim, is being generated by a mantle plume. Mantle plumes are part of the anatomy of a super volcano which bring hot material from the interior to the Earth to the surface. The region directly surrounding these mantle plumes is known as a hot spot and can cause a great deal of geographical instability. According to the team, it is likely that the mantle plume is responsible for the ever changing landscape in this particular region on Antarctica and is probably responsible for its rapid collapse towards the end of the last major Ice Age eleven thousand years ago.  

The existence of a blazingly hot mantle plume existing under Marie Byrd land is something which scientists have speculated about for around thirty years because of the unique conditions in this particular area of Antarctica and the domed feature of the landscape there. However, until now there has been no solid evidence to support this idea.

This has all changed because of the work at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory who commenced the project because they were interested to know what was causing the instability in the region. According to the leader of the project Hélène Seroussi, the team were actually initially sceptical about the idea that a mantle plume could be causing the unique conditions. She said that she found the idea ‘crazy’. “I didn’t see how we could have that amount of heat and still have ice on top of it, ” she said.

However, the team created a huge number of advanced numerical models to calculate how much heat would need to be generated underneath the thick ice sheet to account for geological anomalies such as the domed appearance of the landscape and the lakes and rivers in the bedrock and eventually they came to the conclusion that there simply had to be a mantle plume in this area.

Once they had come to the conclusion that it was likely that they were dealing with a mantle plume, the team dispatched to Yellowstone to analyse the geothermal heat created by the super volcano and found that it was comparable to the amount of heat being generated in Marie Byrd Land. At Yellowstone, around 200 milliwatts is generated per square meter every hour by the heat of the volcano. In Marie Byrd land approximately 150 milliwatts is generated in the same space of time. The scientists note that if the supervolcano underneath Antarctica was any hotter then it would certainly melt the ice in the surrounding area.

The team believes that the mantle plume is coming from a rift in the Earth’s crust and that it is likely that this particular rift and mantle plume formed between fifty and a hundred and ten million years ago, prior to the region being covered with ice.

According to the research team, these investigations could prove to be acutely important in the future. As scientists endeavour to understand the nature of the landscape of Antarctica and attempt to

make predictions about how it will evolve and change in the future this kind of information is absolutely essential.

Op 87 procent van de aardoppervlakte zou de inslag misschien niet de massale uitroeiing van dino’s tot gevolg hebben gehad, volgens Kunio Kaiho en Naga Oshima van de Tohoku Universiteit in Japan.

Het kolossale stenen gevaarte stortte te pletter op het Mexicaanse schiereiland Yucatán, dat dus - helaas voor de dino’s - tot de dertien andere procent van de aarde behoorde. Een enorme klap moet het geweest zijn: de inslagkrater bij Chicxulub was maar liefst 180 km breed en 20 km diep. De concentratie van koolwaterstoffen in de rotsen was er zo hoog dat de in de lucht vrijgekomen roet- en sulfaatdeeltjes wereldwijd afkoeling en droogte veroorzaakten. Er kwamen tsunami’s en aardbevingen van, over heel de planeet. De zon werd verduisterd door het stof, de temperatuur op aarde zakte met tien graden Celsius. Niet alleen de dino’s - die volgens sommige paleontologen al langer in verval waren - kenden zo een abrupt einde: 75 procent van alle zee- en landdieren stierf uit.

De onderzoekers zochten uit hoeveel roet en sulfaat een virtuele meteorietinslag de stratosfeer zou inblazen naargelang de hoeveelheid koolwaterstof en sulfaat in de grond. Dan berekenden ze vanaf wanneer de afkoeling van onze planeet zo groot zou zijn dat ze een massavernietiging kan veroorzaken. Volgens Kaiho en Oshima bereikt een meteorietinslag dat punt als er tussen de 230 miljoen en 2.300 miljoen ton roet in de bovenste atmosfeer geblazen wordt. En dat scenario blijkt slechts mogelijk voor dertien procent van de aardoppervlakte.

Uit een internationaal onderzoek in 2014 bleek dat de dinosaurussen mogelijk hadden kunnen overleven. Namelijk als de gigantische steen op een “geschikter tijdstip” was ingeslagen, wanneer de dinosoorten gevarieerder en dus meer bestand zouden geweest zijn.

En nu argumenteren wetenschappers bovendien dat niet alleen het tijdstip van cruciaal belang kan geweest zijn, maar ook de plaats van de inslag. Volgens paleontoloog Kaiho zou er “geen afkoeling, of een lichtere afkoeling, geweest zijn” als de meteoriet was neergestort op rotsen met minder organisch materiaal. Hij vat het lot van de dino’s daarom zo samen: “Ze hadden pech”. Voor de mens betekende het dan weer wel dat zoogdieren door de ondergang van de dinosaurussen betere ontwikkelingskansen kregen.

WETENSCHAP & PLANEET Als een ster aan het einde van zijn leven is, gaat hij soms met een enorme ontploffing ten onder: een supernova. Maar wetenschappers hebben nu een unieke ster ontdekt: die heeft zijn eigen dood overleefd, bleef schijnen, ontplofte later opnieuw en schijnt nog altijd.

Een Amerikaanse telescoop zag in september 2014 een ontploffing aan de sterrenhemel. De explosie leek aanvankelijk normaal en het licht vervaagde langzaam. Maar waar normale supernova’s na ongeveer honderd dagen doven, bleef deze ster ongeveer twee jaar lang schijnen. Af en toe dimde het licht iets of werd het helderder. Ook nu is de supernova nog helder.

Toen de wetenschappers in de archieven doken, ontdekten ze dat er al eerder een ontploffing was geweest op precies dezelfde plek in het heelal, in 1954. Met andere woorden: de ster is toen geëxplodeerd, bleef een halve eeuw leven, ontplofte toen weer en is nog altijd niet dood. De onderzoekers begrijpen niet precies hoe het kan dat de ster zich niet houdt aan de natuurwetten. Mogelijk gaat het om een onbekend type ster. De supernova staat beschreven in het wetenschapsblad Nature.

De aarde bestond 260 miljoen jaar geleden uit twee werelddelen: Gondwana in het zuiden en Laurazië in het noorden. Antarctica maakte deel uit van Gondwana, met onder meer Zuid-Amerika, Afrika, India en Australië, en was veel warmer en vochtiger dan nu. Het gebied was waarschijnlijk bedekt met mossen, varens en planten, waar vooral kleine dieren leefden.

Ondanks de temperaturen moesten de bomen extreme omstandigheden overleven. In de zomer ging de zon niet onder en was het ook midden in de nacht licht. In de winter bleef het juist donker. Uit de fossielen concluderen de wetenschappers dat de bomen snel omschakelden van zomer naar winter. Hun ‘herfst’ duurde hooguit een maand.

De universiteit van Wisconsin heeft de bevindingen nu naar buiten gebracht. Wetenschappers van de instelling hebben tussen november en januari onderzoek gedaan op de bevroren hellingen van het zogeheten McIntyre-voorgebergte, diep in de binnenlanden van de Zuidpool. Toen was het daar ‘zomer’, hoewel ook dan de temperatuur tientallen graden onder nul blijft. Komende maanden gaan ze weer, op zoek naar nieuwe sporen.

Vulkaanuitbarstingen

Ongeveer 250 miljoen jaar geleden, dus zo’n 10 miljoen jaar nadat de gevonden bomen leefden, stierven vrijwel alle vroege dieren- en plantensoorten uit. Dat kwam waarschijnlijk door vulkaanuitbarstingen in Siberië. Die vulden de dampkring met giftige gassen. In de lege wereld die achterbleef kwamen langzaam de voorlopers van de dino’s op.

300,000-year-old skulls that look shockingly like ours could rewrite the human origin story

Precisely when and where did our species emerge? Anthropologists have struggled with that question for decades, and scattered clues had suggested the answer lay somewhere in sub-Saharan Africa about 200,000 years ago.

But new evidence outlined in two papers published in the journal Nature challenges that hypothesis. Instead, the authors describe recently discovered remains that suggest the first Homo sapiens showed up more than 100,000 years earlier than we thought in a place many experts didn't suspect.

The fossils could represent the earliest known examples of H. sapiens ever found (if confirmed by further research), and they serve as evidence that members of our species lived beyond sub-Saharan Africa.

Skulls in the dust

In 1961, a crew of miners was plowing into a dense wall of limestone in a hilly region west of Marrakesh when they struck a soft patch. The hardened beige surface gave way to a mound of cinnamon-colored dirt. Peeking out of the earth was a sliver of human skull.

A bit more digging revealed a nearly-complete skull, which the miners turned over to their field doctor. As word about the discovery spread, researchers flocked to the area. They uncovered more remains, including several pieces of jaw bone and a fragment of an arm. At the time, scientists pegged the fossils as roughly 40,000 years old, a few thousand years before our extinct European relatives, the Neanderthals, were thought to have vanished.

But they hadn't dug deep enough.

Roughly 40 years later, anthropologist Jean-Jacques Hublin and his team from the Max Planck Institute excavated the half-dozen layers of soil beneath the land where the skull and arm bones had been discovered. There, the team found remains that they say belong to at least five individuals, along with a set of flint blades which had likely been burned, perhaps by nearby cooking fires. 

Using a dating technique that measures how much radiation had built up in the flint since it was heated, Hublin and his team say the ancient bones belong to people who lived roughly 300,000-350,000 years ago. 

"These dates were a big wow," Hublin said on a recent call with reporters.

Still, the biggest discovery didn't come until the team looked more closely at the skulls.

A striking resemblance

When Hublin peered into the cavernous eye sockets of one of the skulls, he was astonished.

Instead of the robust features he was accustomed to seeing on the faces of an ancient human ancestor like Homo erectus or Homo heidelbergensis, this face bore a striking resemblance to his own. Where an erectus skull had a single, protruding brow ridge, these individuals had smaller, separated ones. Rather than a large face and a flattened skull, these people had small faces and rounder skulls.

"The face of these people is really a face that falls right in the middle of the modern variation," said Hublin. "They had a skull that is more elongated than most of us, but I'm not sure these people would stand out from a crowd today."

Their braincase (shown below in blue) also seemed to fall somewhere between what one might expect in an ancient human ancestor and a modern human, albeit slightly more similar to those of our archaic ancestors.

This unique combination of advanced and archaic features suggests something profound, Hublin said -- he's convinced the Moroccan specimens "represent the very root of our species."

In other words, all of the Homo sapiens ever found -- including those uncovered far beyond Africa -- may trace their ancestral linkages to the land that is today's Morocco. 

That suggestion contradicts the prevailing anthropological logic that our species evolved somewhere deep in sub-Saharan Africa, in what some researchers have referred to as a "Garden of Eden," then gradually moved out to other parts of the world. Instead, Hublin and his team argue that Homo sapiens could have been living in terrain across Africa.

According to Sonia Zakrzewski, an associate professor of archaeology at the University of Southampton, Hublin's discovery could encourage other archaeologists to change the way they think about human origins. "It really sets the world alight in terms of the possibilities for understanding the evolution of Homo sapiens," she said. "It certainly means that we need to rethink our models."

Did The American Pilot Die After Seeing A Flying Cone In The Sky?

The mysterious crash in 1970 involved the disappearance of Captain William Schaffner, 28, an American pilot.

The incident took place nearly 50 years ago but created a conspiracy theory that persists until today.

The official conclusion of the unforgettable event regarding the American fighter jet that went down off Britain’s coast was that a tragic accident caused the plane piloted by U.S. Air Force pilot Captain William Schaffner to go down.

However, apparent sightings of flying transparent spheres and mysterious blips on the radar fueled intrigue, mystery, and speculation that UFOs downed the fighter jet XS894.

Adding to the enigma, the body of the pilot was missing after the aircraft was found on the seabed with its canopy closed weeks later.

Captain Schaffner was declared dead, but his body has never been found.

According to RAF Binbrook, Lincolnshire, during the Cold War, the pilot took off on the night of September 8, 1970, into the skies over Grimsby. The 28-year-old pilot then headed out over the North Sea on the way to Flamborough.

But shortly after 10:30 pm, the aircraft ditched into the sea, five miles south of Flamborough Head. Local newspapers covered the air and sea search and rescue operation.

It was revealed on October 7, 1970, that the plane was discovered by Royal Navy divers onboard the HMS Kedleston that sailed to Flamborough but they returned empty-handed as they still did not provide answers.

The plane stayed on the seabed, but the pilot’s body was still missing.

It was only in December that year the submerged plane was brought to the surface. To everyone’s surprise, the cockpit was empty, and the canopy over the cockpit was closed. Immediately rumors started to circulate.

In October 1992, a series of articles written by Pat Otter and published by Grimsby Telegraph brought life to the story with the incident being described as The Riddle of Foxtrot 94.

The writer claimed that there was evidence that out of this world was the cause of the downing and disappearance of the pilot.

Mr. Otter cited unnamed military sources who claimed they had observed UFOs across Grimsby, Flamborough and beyond.

Captain Schaffner was on Quick Reaction Alert duty during this period. He was dispatched to see what was the blips on the radar.

One newspaper report said that the pilot reported spotting a flying cone and a transparent sphere flying around his aircraft, causing malfunctions to his equipment.

In July 1994, the Grimsby Telegraph reported that the cat and mouse chase between Schaffner and the unidentified craft resulted in the death of the captain.

A team at RAF Binbrook said that it was their job to investigate the crash, but they were stalled, and their instruments had disappeared.

Until today, the case remained a mystery despite many things had happened since that day.

Watch Alleged U.S. Navy Footage Seemingly Shows A UFO That Defies Physics

An unidentified flying object that defied physics is claimed to be in a leaked U.S. Navy video footage, which has emerged after a former Area 51 insider shared about the encounter.

Several F-18 pilots are said to have outmaneuvered by extraordinary UFO during the terrifying encounter. Former U.S. national security chief Chris Mellon, who claimed to have spent time at Area 51 military base, said that U.S. Navy personnel aboard the USS Nimitz recorded the UFO on video during the seven-hour encounter.

Mr. Mellon claimed that he served for nearly 20 years in the U.S. federal government in several national security roles under the administrations of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

The former national security chief was reportedly on a committee with oversight of all special access programs in Department of Defense. He also said to have spent ten years on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Mr. Mellon is one of the ex-senior government insiders who has gone forward after joining former Blink 182 frontman Tom DeLonge’s alien truth-seeking organization To The Stars Academy.

Mr. Mellon, who also had accessed on classified projects at the highly-secretive military facility in Nevada, detailed the bizarre incident that said to take place off the San Diego coast in broad daylight.

Now, a video has surfaced, claiming to be the footage recorded in 2004. It has been released anonymously and recently doing the rounds on social media.

The clip shows a mysterious object hovering in the skies.

It seems to show one of the F-18’s crosshairs lining the UFO up, but the bizarre thing speeds out of sight.

Many UFO experts believe that the craft disappeared with supersonic speed.

Is this the original video of the 1942 ‘Battle of Los Angeles UFO Sighting’?

The Battle of Los Angeles, also known as The Great Los Angeles Air Raid, is the name given by contemporary sources to an incident in Los Angeles, California, in which, after city-wide alarms went off due to an alleged enemy attack, the US antiaircraft defenses touched off a massive barrage of anti-aircraft fire, with some 1400 shells shot into the skies over Los Angeles during the frantic evening.

The incident occurred less than three months after the United States joined the Second World War as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Imperial Japanese Navy, and a day after the Ellwood Bombing on February 23.

Initially, it was thought that the barrage of anti-aircraft fire was in response to an attack from the Japanese air force, but speaking at a press conference shortly afterward, US Navy Secretary Frank Knox described the incident as a “false alarm”.

The newspapers of the time published a series of reports and speculated about cover-ups.

Some ufologists have had even claimed that a massive barrage of anti-aircraft fire did not target Japanese bombers, but alien spaceships.

But, as it seems that all ‘good UFO sightings’ are nothing more than weather balloons, in 1983, the United States Air Force History Office attributed the event to a case of “nerves of war” likely triggered by a lost weather balloon and exacerbated by stray flares and shell bursts from adjoining batteries.

Representative Leland Ford of Santa Monica called for a Congressional investigation, saying, “…none of the explanations so far offered removed the episode from the category of ‘complete mystification’ … this was either a practice raid, or a raid to throw a scare into 2,000,000 people, or a mistaken identity raid, or a raid to lay a political foundation to take away Southern California’s war industries.”

However, based mainly on an image, published in the Los Angeles Times on February 26, 1942, Ufologists around the globe believe that the US military did not shoot at a weather balloon or Japenese bombers on the late hours of 24 February to early 25 February, but a real saucer-shaped UFO.

Ufologists assert that the photo clearly shows searchlights focused on an alien spaceship.

An inquest into the mysterious death of a British conspiracy theorist who died after 'vomiting black liquid' on a trip to Poland has been postponed.

The sudden death of Max Spiers, 39, remains shrouded in suspicion after a friend discovered his body during a trip to Poland.

His inquest opened in December 2016 and the court heard he vomited two litres of black blood before he died.

It was due to resume this Thursday in Maidstone, Kent, but has now been adjourned again with no explanation for the delay and little prospect of it happening this year.

The father-of-two, from Canterbury, had become world-famous in the shadowy world of conspiracy theories and allegedly made many 'enemies' in his investigations.

Shortly before his death, Mr Spiers was said to have been probing the lives of well-known figures in politics, business and entertainment.

At the time his mother Vanessa Bates, 63, said she feared the worst.

She said: 'I think Max had been digging in some dark places and somebody wanted him dead.'

Authorities in Poland, where Mr Spiers was attending a conference, initially concluded the sudden death was due to natural causes.

Mr Spiers was known as a 'supersoldier' by his followers and those in the conspiracy and supernatural community, and went to school with the actor Orlando Bloom. 

After his body was repatriated to the UK, doctors at a Margate hospital were unable to determine the cause of his death.

Kent Police then launched a joint investigation with Polish police into the conspiracy theorist's death.

At an inquest opening in Canterbury in December 2016, the court heard how the 39-year-old had been visiting Poland to speak at a conference after holidaying with a friend in Cyprus.

In a statement, coroner's investigations officer Caroline O'Donnell said: 'When they returned, Mr Spiers became ill with a high temperature and was weak.

'The following day, Mr Spiers vomited two litres of black fluid. The friend called a doctor who attempted resuscitation before pronouncing him dead.'

Her theory was shared by many online, with other conspiracy theorists, UFO investigators and bloggers calling the circumstances of Mr Spiers' death suspicious.

At the time, Coroner Alan Blunsdon told the court he was still awaiting a report from Polish authorities, adding that the workload of Kent Police may delay forensic analysis of Mr Spiers' phone and computer.

OUDE OPNAMES VAN BUITENAARDS WEZEN ONTDEKT ( VIDEO )

Ergens diep verborgen op het zogenaamde "dark web" vond een UFO-onderzoeker oude filmopnames die in 1992 gemaakt zouden zijn in Zwitserland. 

Op de beelden is te zien wat niet anders omschreven kan worden als een buitenaards wezen. 

Het verhaal staat uitgebreid in een grote Engelse krant en het betreft opnames die zouden zijn gemaakt van een zogenaamde EBE in 1992 in Eiger in Zwitserland.

De afkorting EBE staat voor Extraterrestrial Biological Entity, hetgeen betekent dat het een buitenaards wezen is.

Dat er ongeveer zo uit ziet.

Degene die de beelden heeft gepubliceerd zegt hij dat deze per ongeluk tegenkwam op het dark web. (Het dark web is een onderdeel van het wereldwijde web dat niet rechtstreeks vindbaar is voor de zoekmachines.)

Volgens de uploader van de video lijkt het erop dat er destijds videobeelden zijn gemaakt van foto's.

De beelden tonen inderdaad een wezen dat je kunt omschrijven als een soort stereotyp buitenaards wezen, met een groot hoofd en ogen en lange dunne armen.

En dan ontstaat natuurlijk de discussie of beelden echt zijn of nep.

Hierna volgt de video zoals die is verschenen op Youtube. In het Engelse krantenartikel wordt melding gemaakt van mensen die het een hoax vinden en daarom hebben zij contact opgenomen met het betreffende Youtube kanaal, Ufo Today, waar men volhoudt dat deze opnames inderdaad zijn gevonden op het dark web en dat er, door hen althans, niets mee is gedaan.

De volgende video is wat langer en is gemaakt door iemand die veel opnames heeft gezien van vooral nepaliens en volgens zijn/haar eerste analyse konden de beelden wel eens echt zijn.

Dat zou natuurlijk prachtig zijn na de vele nepbeelden die in de loop der jaren op het internet zijn verschenen. Echter, het is nog te vroeg om te juichen, want misschien zullen er andere ontdekkingen worden gedaan, waardoor misschien ook deze opnames niet echt blijken te zijn, maar vooralsnog lijken ze authentiek.

VERDWENEN ZIEKENHUISPATIËNT DOOD TERUGGEVONDEN IN PLAFOND

In Zuid Afrika gebeuren soms vreemde dingen, waarvan men zegt dat deze te maken hebben met voodoo rituelen en teleportatie. 

Dat is een mogelijke verklaring voor een 61-jarige patiënt die na een operatie plotsklaps verdween uit zijn bed en twee weken later dood in het plafond werd teruggevonden. 

We weten al via Dr. Roel dat een ziekenhuis een gevaarlijke plek is om te verblijven en hóe gevaarlijk blijkt ook uit het volgende verhaal dat zich afspeelt in Zuid Afrika in de plaats Stellenbosch.

Begin oktober onderging de 61-jarige Teteteke Gqotsi een operatie. De vader van zes kinderen doorstond de operatie goed en werd vervolgens naar de zaal gebracht om verder te herstellen. De verpleging was er dan ook van overtuigd dat de patiënt voorspoedig zou genezen.

Op 5 oktober lag Gqosi dan ook normaal in zijn bed toen een verpleegster 's morgens vroeg de kamer binnenkwam. Alles was normaal en de verpleegster verliet de kamer enkele minuten om schoon beddengoed te halen en toen ze terugkwam, was het bed leeg.

En daarmee begint het grote mysterie rondom Teteteke Gqotsi.

Volgens de broer van Gqotsi was de patiënt niet in staat om te lopen omdat hij net daarvoor een operatie had ondergaan.

En toch is de man binnen een tijdsbestek van enkele minuten volkomen verdwenen. 

Vervolgens gebeurt er een dag helemaal niets en krijgt de familie op 7 oktober een telefoontje van het ziekenhuis met de vraag of ze Gqotsi kunnen spreken. De familie antwoord daarop dat ze niet bij hen moeten zijn omdat hij in het ziekenhuis ligt.

Uiteindelijk wordt ook de politie erbij gehaald en begint men met zoeken, maar helaas zonder enig resultaat. 

Het is 13 dagen later, wanneer het lichaam van Gqotsi wordt aangetroffen in het plafond van het ziekenhuis. Niet in het plafond van de zaal, maar van een deel van het ziekenhuis waar renovatiewerkzaamheden worden uitgevoerd.

Nog steeds is het een mysterie hoe het lichaam van een geopereerde patiënt van het ene op het andere moment kan verdwijnen uit zijn ziekenhuisbed om weken later dood boven water te komen in het plafond.

Niet zo vreemd dan natuurlijk dat er druk wordt gespeculeerd over hoe dit heeft kunnen gebeuren. En omdat dit Afrika is, komen er al snel theorieën naar boven over voodoopraktijken en zelfs teleportatie.

Volgens de autoriteiten loopt het onderzoek nog steeds, maar zijn ze net zover als ze waren toen ze begonnen.

Is het toch een "gewone" moord, waarbij de dader erin slaagde om binnen enkele minuten Qqotsi ongezien uit zijn bed te sleuren zonder ook maar enig lawaai te maken, te vermoorden en dan op klaarlichte dag het lichaam in het plafond te verstoppen óf is er inderdaad sprake van geheimzinnige voodoopraktijken?

Hoe dan ook, de moraal van het verhaal is duidelijk:

Too big to put on a jet

In a press release this week, Dr. Rob Afzal, senior fellow of laser weapon systems at Lockheed, described what the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) will get in return for a $26.3 million contract for a high power fiber laser. The technology is based on Lockheed’s 60 kW-class laser that can be mounted on land vehicles and has been swatting drones like annoying missile-firing flies in tests. However, putting that same technology on an aircraft is not easy as just checking it in as a carry-on bag upon boarding.

“We have developed innovative fiber lasers, sophisticated beam control and auxiliary technologies. Combined with expert platform integration, these advances enable offensive and defensive capabilities against a growing range of threats to military forces and infrastructure.”

The fiber laser technology is the key to the Air Force’s Self-protect High Energy Laser Demonstrator (SHiELD) program, which will integrate the laser (Laser Advancements for Next-generation Compact Environments or LANCE) into a beam control system for directing the laser (SHiELD Turret Research in Aero Effects or STRAFE) and a special pod to keep the laser cool while firing (Laser Pod Research & Development or LPRD). This also puts Lockheed at the forefront of clever acronym development, which includes Accelerated Laser Demonstration Initiative (ALADIN), Advanced Test High Energy Asset (ATHENA) and Area Defense Anti-Munitions (ADAM).

In an interview with CNBC, defense analyst Daniel Goure describes the benefits of airborne lasers:

“You get a low cost per shot — much cheaper than a missile in almost every case. One of the things we find in a lot of our systems — land, sea and air — is that we run out of shots particularly on the defense. You just run out of bullets or missiles. And if you have laser, it avoids having to reload.”

Even at low settings, LANCE will be able to blind or stun enemies like a giant laser pointer.

Unknown anomaly near the sun captured during stunning sunrise over Guadalajara, Mexico

A live footage from the webcamsdemexico taken on November 5, 2017, location Guadalajara, Mexico shows a stunning sunrise at 6.57 am but one hour before sunrise a massive fog/cloud formation covers the whole area and there are multiple unknown light sources all passing over where the sun was due to rise.

Also there is a volcano in the background, which could have created the foggy appearance, but if you noticed as the sun rose all traces miraculously disappeared, also the volcano itself did not seem to be very active.

According to Expitaly here we are seeing the tell-tale signs of geoengineering to cover all areas around the sun especially around the times of sunrise/sunset to hide unknown objects near the sun.

In the video he underlines his thoughts by pointing out that there is a planet in the background that is clearly visible when the video is slowed down. Then what we see is that the next thing that happens is that they laid out a black chemtrail as a smokey emergency action until they could get a regular jet up in the air in that particular area.

Regardless of whether his analysis is right or wrong, it remains an amazing sunrise above Guadalajara in Mexico.

Secret Base Hidden In Mysterious 150-Mile Anomaly, Conspiracy Theorists Claim

A theory of a secret Nazi UFO base has arisen after the discovery of a mysterious anomaly in the Antarctic.

A team of UFO hunters claims that Nazis created secret bases in Antarctica that were designed for UFOs during World War 2.

The so-called anomaly stretches around 150 miles across with an estimated depth of 850 meters. It is discovered in Wilkes Land, a frozen wasteland in Antarctica.

SecureTeam10 said there’s something alien-related thing buried deep under this thick ice shelf and scientists have no idea about it to this day. They further stated that the continent had been covered in mystery for years now.

In their video, the team claimed that images are showing several entrances designed with a saucer shape and at a very high altitude in the side of the mountains. It seems that these openings were intended for something that could fly with a saucer shape.

The group also shared the possibility of the US Navy leading a mission to look into the anomaly. They claimed that the mission was called Operation High Jump, which they believe an attempt to discover an entrance to a hidden world beneath the Earth.

The NASA satellite imagery first discovered the strange shape beneath Antarctica in 2006. Some researchers suggested the anomaly was the result of an asteroid impact twice the size of the one that made dinosaurs extinct.

I have always been rather fascinated by the fact that strange tales, ominous curses, and inexplicable deaths or vanishings can revolve around some of the more gorgeous of locales. There seems to be some disconnect between the awe-inspiring beauty to be found here and the often very dark legends and unsolved mysteries that pervade them. It is strange to think that coursing under the veneer of such natural splendor there is a dark current of the unexplained and perhaps even evil. Such places can be at once achingly saturated with beauty yet also imbued with a sense of inexplicable dread and an unsettling quality of doom. One such place is the world famous Yosemite National Park of California, in the United States. It is a hauntingly beautiful expanse which simultaneously seems to be actually haunted, and ground zero for a slew of strange vanishings as well.

Sprawled out across 747,956 acres (1,168.681 sq. mi) of wilderness in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California, in the United States, is the majestic Yosemite National Park. Known throughout the world for its amazing vistas of pristine mountainous wilderness, glaciers, towering giant sequoia trees, looming granite cliffs, unique geologic formations, breathtaking waterfalls, wildlife, and incredibly clear lakes and streams, Yosemite has been registered as a World Heritage Site and draws in around 4 to 5 million visitors every year from every corner of the globe. It would seem at first glance that such natural splendor would be one of the last places where one would expect to find dark mysteries and the supernatural, but the park has a surprising amount of such phenomena, including curses, hauntings, and bizarre unsolved vanishings.

One of the most persistent locations of strange legends and mysterious occurrences within Yosemite National Park is a place called Tenaya Canyon, which runs from Tenaya lake to meander through the landscape in a series of picturesque deep pools, waterfalls and flowing cascades to its final destination of a stark drop into another deep canyon at the granite mountain called Cloud’s Rest, situated right next to the iconic and spectacular Half Dome. A stunningly beautiful yet treacherous spot, Tenaya Canyon has been shrouded in myth and strangeness since just about as long as humans have been in the area, and it is also steeped in a rather dark and violent history that has given rise to rumors of a sinister curse hanging over the area.

Yosemite National Park

When white settlers arrived in Yosemite Valley they encountered a tribe of Native Americans called the Ahwahnee, who were a peaceful people but also prone to occasionally poaching livestock from their new neighbors. In the 1850s, the whites decided that they had had enough of sharing the land with the troublesome natives, and sought to relocate the Ahwahnee to a reservation off in Fresno, California. The normally peaceful Ahwahnee, led by a Chief Tenaya, did not go perhaps as compliantly as was expected, actively and vocally defying the order to get out. Eventually, the white settlers sent in a contingent of armed men led by a Captain John Boling to forcibly remove the tribe, and things went just about as well as you would expect.

Instead of fleeing in fear, as was expected of the usually apparently docile natives, the Ahwahnee instead opted to stubbornly stand their ground and fight. During the ensuing violence, Chief Tenaya’s son was among the dead, which sent him into a profound rage in which he invoked a curse on the valley against the white man. The chief supposedly blared out this curse as he was confronted by an armed captain during the battle, saying:

Kill me, sir captain! Yes kill me, as you killed my son; as you would kill my people if they were to come to you! You would kill all my race if you had the power. You have made me sorrowful, my life dark; you killed the child of my heart, why not kill the father? You may kill me sir captain, but you shall not live in peace, I will follow in your footsteps, I will not leave my home but be with the spirits among the rocks, the waterfalls, in the rivers and in the wind; wheresoever you go I will be with you. You will not see me, but you will fear the spirit of the old chief, and grow cold.

Chief Tenaya of the Ahwahnee

Since then, the chief has allegedly been true to his words, and in the years since that fateful day Tenaya Canyon, and by some accounts the whole Yosemite Valley, has been said to be plagued by all manners of freak accidents, strange deaths, mishaps, and unexplained phenomena such as unexplained noises and shadowy apparitions. There are supposedly far more incidents of rock climbing and hiking accidents and fatalities in the Tenaya area than other places in the park, and so many people have gone missing here that it has garnered itself the ominous nickname of “The Bermuda Triangle of Yosemite.” Even the legendary naturalist and extremely experienced mountaineer John Muir was not immune to this supposed curse, when he met with a near-fatal accident while exploring the canyon in 1873, which he later wrote of in his 1918 book Steep Trails, saying:

I was ascending a precipitous rock front, smoothed by glacial action, when I suddenly fell—for the first time since I touched foot to Sierra rocks. After several somersaults, I became insensible from the shock, and when consciousness returned I found myself wedged among short, stiff bushes… I could not remember what made me fall, or where I had fallen from; but I saw that if I had rolled a little further, my mountain climbing would have been finished, for just beyond the bushes the canyon wall steepened and I might have fallen to the bottom.

Of course, considering that the terrain here is notorious for being some of the most hostile and forbidding in the entire park it may not be surprising that there should be so many disappearances, deaths, and accidents at Tenaya Canyon. Here there are numerous sharp drops, sheer rock walls, uneven, often slippery footing, and precarious climbs daunting to even the most experienced of hikers. It is a place of natural danger, and indeed the 10-mile trail along its length harbors numerous warning signs proclaiming the perils of continuing, and the official park trail guide map marks the hike in stark red with a disclaimer reading, “Hiking in Tenaya Canyon is dangerous and strongly discouraged.”

Tenaya Canyon

Whether the canyon is truly cursed or not, there are certainly a lot of supposedly haunted places around Yosemite Park as well. One of the most notorious of these is the former Ahwahnee Hotel, spookily named after the previously mentioned doomed tribe. Opened in 1927 just a short distance from Half Dome, the Ahwahnee Hotel at the time was a big deal in that it was a large, luxurious hotel in an area known for mostly camping and small lodges, and its elegant yet rustic, organic feel and the majestic grandeur of its scenic surroundings quickly made it a popular destination for the many tourists who pour into the area every year. It has also become well-known for being rather intensely haunted.

There are numerous ghosts said to inhabit the hotel, such as that of a woman named Mary Curry Tressider, who had been part of the hotel’s design and opening and who lived and died in her private apartment here in 1970. Her spirit supposedly lingers on the 6th floor, where her room was located, and sightings of her ghost are frequently reported by staff and guests alike. The entity is said to be prankish more than frightening, and is known for tucking in visitors as they sleep, folding clothes, and misplacing items around rooms, as well as calling out to guests.

Another spirit said to inhabit the Ahwahnee Hotel is connected to a rocking chair kept in the room that former U.S. president John F. Kennedy stayed in during a visit in 1962. At the time the chair had been put in the room at the president’s request, as he had claimed that he had been having back pain, and he reportedly spent a lot of time sitting there calmly rocking away. The chair was removed from the room when he left, but oddly enough since his death a spectral rocking chair has often been reported moving on its own in rooms and halls throughout the hotel’s 3rd floor, which is where Kennedy’s room had been, and especially in the actual room itself. Although these are the two most well-known of the hotel’s phantoms, the entire premises have provided their fair share of accounts of anomalous noises, disembodied footsteps, and apparitions, and the Awahnee hotel helped to inspire the look and design of the Overlook Hotel from Stanley Kubrick’s classic horror film The Shining.

Another haunted hotel in Yosemite National Park is the Sierra Sky Ranch, and considering its historical pedigree it is perhaps no surprise at all that ghosts should call this place home. Originally built in 1877, the Sierra Sky Ranch started its life as a sanitarium for housing and quarantining victims of tuberculosis, who lived mostly in squalor forgotten by society and many of whom died here, including children. In later years the premises became a home for veterans of World War I, after which it went on to become the modest, 29-room hotel it is today, where guests constantly report a range of weird paranormal activity.

One of the most common types of ghostly occurrence at the Sierra Sky Ranch is that of phantom children, who are said to run up and down stairs and halls, and who can be heard giggling, whispering, or talking when no one is around or in the very walls themselves. These spectral children are reportedly most often sighted in the media room and the main living room area of the hotel, and are blamed for some of the anomalous poltergeist activity reported from here, such as lights, faucets, or appliances turning on or off by themselves, doors opening or slamming shut when no one is around, and guests’ clothes being tugged by unseen hands. Other ghosts said to inhabit the Sierra Sky Ranch are a woman who supposedly lurks about the main house and library and who smells of perfume, a ghostly bar patron who kisses bar visitors and bartenders on the cheek, and the more sinister entity of a scowling, angry looking man who paces about on the hotel veranda and is known to violently knock over furniture.

Besides hotels, some natural landmarks of Yosemite are also said to be haunted. One of the most famous ghosts of the park is said to lurk in Grouse Lake, and was first officially reported in 1857 by Galen Clark, who was to later become Yosemite’s very first park ranger in 1867. Clark had his strange experience as he was out on a hike to the small alpine lake, and he claimed that as he walked along its shores that he had heard a chilling, unearthly wail seeming to come from the water itself and sounding like “a puppy when lost.” The unsettled Clark would later ask some Native Americans of the area what kind of animal it was that he had heard or if they had a dog that could have made the noise, and they proceeded to tell him that it was no animal or dog, but rather the spirit of a tribal boy who had tragically drowned there years ago and who did not take kindly to visitors. It was even claimed that he would attack anyone who set foot in the water. Clark would write of this:

They replied that it was not a dog—that a long time ago an Indian boy had been drowned in the lake, and that every time anyone passed there he always cried after them, and no one dared go into the lake, for (the boy) would catch them by the legs and pull them down and they would be drowned. I then concluded that it must have been some unseen waterfowl that made that cry, and at that time I thought that the Indians were trying to impose on my credulity, but I am now convinced they fully believed the story they told me.

There is also the haunting of perhaps Yosemite’s most famous waterfalls, Bridalveil Fall, which cascades 617 feet down a sheer granite cliff. The Ahwahnee tribe believed that the fall was the haunt of an evil spirit called Pohono, who was known to try and lure unsuspecting victims over the precipice to their deaths. The method by which the spirit was said to do this varied, in some cases using hypnotic rainbows in the mist to draw people closer and in other cases calling out to use curiosity against victims or even appearing as an apparition to beckon people closer, after which a strong gust of wind would fling them over the fall. Indeed, there have been a few recorded deaths of people being blown over the fall or slipping and falling to the rocks far below, and the winds are said to be very unpredictable at the top. Campers in the area have also reported hearing strange voices or sounds coming from the direction of the fall at night. Whether this is the doing of an evil spirit or not, in present day there are many railings in place to keep people from getting too close.

A strange case I found of a possible ghost roaming the wilderness of Yosemite concerns a 26-year-old Christopher Thompson, who claims that during one camping trip to the park he came across something very strange indeed. He says that as he went out to get some firewood he spied an old Native American man standing by his tent, who wore some sort of bell around his neck that rang out every time he moved. The mysterious man then allegedly asked Thompson for a ride out to the main road because he had gotten lost. Thompson decided to drive him all the way to the ranger’s office as it was getting dark outside, and when they reached his truck the witness claims that the old man insisted on sitting in the back seat.

So far, so weird, but it would get stranger still. Thompson claims that as he got into the truck he caught a glimpse of the old Native man in the side mirror, and that he was swaying and muttering some sort of chant in some alien language. After this, Thompson panicked and drove off on his own to the ranger’s office, where he reported the whole creepy encounter. He would later find that the mysterious figure had left something rather odd behind in the form of an animal skin pouch that was found to contain strange stones and herbs, which locals informed him were cursed. Thompson would say, “I’m still haunted by dreams where I’m paralyzed and I can still hear him muttering that chant.” It is an odd tale to be sure, and one wonders just who or what he encountered out there in those woods.

Besides curses and hauntings, Yosemite has been the location of a fair number of inexplicable disappearances as well. By far the most oft-discussed and hotly debated mysterious vanishings to have occurred at Yosemite National Park is the disappearance of 14-year-old Stacy Ann Arras in 1981. On the afternoon on July 17, 1981, Arras was on a camping trip with her father and 6 others at the Sunrise Sierra Camp, a small cluster of cabins for people passing through on hikes along the popular “mountain chalet” loop. Arras had arrived on horseback with her group, and she soon expressed interest in taking some photos of a nearby lake. Since it was not far her father did not deem it necessary to go with her, but another member of the group, a 72-year-old man, decided to go with her.

As they approached the lake, the man reportedly sat down to take a rest as Arras went on ahead. In the meantime, other members of the group looked down on the whole thing from a ridge, and watched as Arras disappeared into some trees. When she did not return within a reasonable length of time the group went off looking for her but would find only the lens of her camera and no other trace of the girl whatsoever. An extensive official search of the area using helicopters and tracker dogs would have no further luck, and eventually it was called off with no evidence at all of what had happened to Stacy Arras or where she had gone. Park superintendent Robert Binnewies would say at the time, “She just seems to have disappeared.”

The strange disappearance of Stacy Ann Arras gained a fair amount of publicity and gained a cult following among researchers of the paranormal and unexplained, and the case has gained quite a lot of notoriety through the work of David Paulides, a famous author on mysterious vanishings who has written numerous books on the matter, in particular on those which have occurred within U.S. national parks. Paulides added some sinister intrigue when he claimed that from the beginning of his investigation of the Arras case park officials were evasive and reticent to release any information on it when faced with a request under the Freedom of Information Act, even going as far as to allegedly deliberately withhold, obfuscate, and flat-out hide facts relating to it. Indeed, Paulides has repeatedly accused national park officials as being corrupt and suspiciously secretive on such mysterious disappearances. Is there something sinister going on behind this case? It is hard to say, and the Arras disappearance has gone on to become widely discussed and picked apart all over the Internet with no solution in sight.

More recent disappearances include the 2005 vanishing of 51-year-old Michael Allen Ficery, who was an avid, experienced hiker and backpacker. On June 15, 2005, Ficery headed out on a hike along the north end of the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, but at some point changed his mind and went up to the Pacific Crest Trail. This would be the last time anyone would see him. When he did not return after his wilderness permit expired a search was carried out, but all that could be found was a backpack containing a topographical map, a camera and a bottle of water. A massive search involving personnel from five counties utilizing aircraft and tracker dogs were unable to find any trace of the missing hiker, and his case remains utterly unsolved.

In June of 2011 there was the case of 30-year-old George Penca, who was out hiking at the Upper Yosemite Falls with his church group. During the hike, Penca fell behind the group and proceeded to completely vanish off the face of the earth. Despite extensive searches of the area, no sign of him was found. Strangely, Yosemite National Park unceremoniously and discreetly took down his missing persons page in the coming weeks. Perhaps even stranger still is the disappearance of 35-year-old Allen Martin, of Modesto, California in February of 2016. On the evening of February 9, 2016, Martin visited the Chicken Ranch Casino and left the premises at approximately 4:08 PM. Security footage captured him walking across the parking lot and he then apparently walked right off the face of the earth. Martin has not been seen since.

Yosemite National Park is a place of great beauty, but it is also one of great mystery. From ancient Native curses, to ghosts, to mysterious disappearances, it is fascinating to see how a locale of such natural splendor can also harbor such dark secrets. Do some areas hold close to them some force or presence that creates this aura of sinister energy? Is there some unique quality to these locations that invites the weird and the paranormal? Or are these just the product of over-active imaginations and the perilous terrain inherit to such places? Whatever the answer may be, Yosemite National Park continues to be one of the most beloved national parks in the United States, and also one of the most mysterious.

Launching a space mission from the deepest ocean

NASA-backed scientists hope project advances plans to search moons for extraterrestrial life

Peter Girguis, professor of organismic and evolutionary biology, is collaborating with NASA to develop deep-sea technology to search for life on the solar systems' ocean moons.

Scientists from Harvard and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institutionare collaborating on deep-sea technologies that could be a model for exploring oceans on the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.

The ABISS project aims to create an autonomous ocean-floor observatory equipped to kick into high gear when something interesting happens, switching on cameras and sophisticated sensors and wirelessly alerting researchers hundreds of miles away.

All that sounds good to NASA. The agency is funding the project as it grapples with the likelihood that the search for extraterrestrial life will lead underwater, from the dry terrain of Mars to ice-encrusted oceans on Jupiter’s Europa, Saturn’s Enceladus, and other moons.

“One of the things we learn [with] ABISS is how exploration like this can be done remotely,” said Mary Voytek, NASA’s senior scientist for astrobiology. “We’re not going to be sending ships out there. We’re going to be sending something that will be able to penetrate the ice and then, once below the surface of the ice, will be into the ocean and … will have to operate remotely and autonomously.”

ABISS, which stands for autonomous biogeochemical instrument for in situ studies, is led by Harvard biologist Peter Girguis with Woods Hole colleagues Norman Farr and Clifford Pontbriand. Girguis said the project seeks to harness advances in robotics, big data, and telecommunications to advance ocean exploration, here and out there.

Earth’s oceans are mysterious, hard to get to, and hostile to sustained exploration. The sea floor is miles below the surface, with temperatures just above freezing, crushing pressure, and total darkness. Communication is difficult because water blocks the radio waves that make surface communications comparatively effortless.

Just as in space exploration, Girguis noted, terrestrial oceanographers are looking for life. Though some 2 million species of marine animals have been identified, there are an estimated 18 million still to be found, he said. They live in the deep ocean, starting a half-mile below the illuminated surface.

“We really know so little about our oceans,” Girguis said. “Eighty percent of our planet’s living space is in the deep sea, by volume.”

Interest in extraterrestrial oceans was piqued by the Cassini spacecraft’s 13-year tour of Saturn’s moons, during which it observed plumes of water vapor shooting from the icy surface of Enceladus. Europa, thought to have an ice-covered ocean, is the focus of the planned Europa Clipper, which would focus instruments on the moon’s surface during dozens of fly-bys sometime after 2020.

Plenty of work remains for the three-year ABISS project. This past summer, Girguis and Pontbriand spent a week off the California coast aboard the E.V. Nautilus, a research ship run by explorer Robert Ballard’s Ocean Exploration Trust, tackling challenges in communications. Scientists working underwater usually communicate via cumbersome cables to the mother ship or wireless acoustic technology akin to sonar. The acoustic signals can transmit over long distances, but with very limited bandwidth, similar to that offered by dial-up computer modems. (“You can forget pictures,” Girguis said.)

Girguis and Pontbriand tested an alternative, developed in 2005 at Woods Hole, that uses light to transmit information at broadband speeds. The optical modem’s range is limited by water’s ability to absorb light, but in the clear water of the ocean floor, it can transmit images and video 100 meters. The test sought to integrate the optical modem with cameras and other gear on the ABISS observatory.

“We’re really excited to have the opportunity to use our technology to get the experiment going,” Pontbriand said.

Other goals of the project, Girguis said, include improving battery life in hopes of an observatory that can operate a year or more without needing service. Another major objective is to make sensors as energy-efficient as possible and get them to communicate with each other. Ultimately, Girguis said, he’d like the ABISS chemical sensor to run all the time, waking the microbial sensor to gather additional data when methane or other life molecules are detected.

Girguis isn’t certain that life will be found elsewhere in the solar system, but has no trouble imagining plausible scenarios. Some microbes can survive a journey through space’s vacuum, he noted, and Earth’s bombardment by meteors and comets provides a mechanism for rocks carrying them to be blasted into space. Pontbriand, meanwhile, isn’t sold that the devices he’s had a hand in building one day might be deployed in a search for extraterrestrial life.

“It does seem farfetched, even to me,” Pontbriand said. “But it would be great to see it happen.”

The ideal ABISS observatory would be able to provide long-term data gathering anywhere, Girguis and Pontbriand said. Information — including bandwidth-gobbling images and video – would be transferred to an untethered robotic sub. The sub would rise to the surface and transmit to a nearby boat, satellite, or spacecraft, which would then convey the data to labs.

“In order to do exploration of this kind, we need to understand the strategy for exploration or science operations,” said NASA’s Voytek. “Projects like ABISS start teaching us what that’s like: What are the limitations? What are the things we need to further develop?”

That’s what the residents of Newent are asking after seeing the silver oval object flashing as it floated in the distance towards Gloucester.

This is the second time this year that strange-looking lights have been floating over the cathedral city.

Jo Humphrey caught the unidentified flying object on camera on Monday night and thought it might have been the space station.

But that theory was discounted by somebody who came forward on social media and others have suggested it was Venus or Mars.

Jo told GloucestershireLive that she is still baffled and wants to know if anybody in Gloucester has seen it or has any ideas about what it might be.

“I was in bed watching a DVD and it caught the corner of my eye,” said Jo who is not suggesting it is inhabited by little green men.

“I took no notice to start with then thought I'd record it on my phone. It didn’t move but I was leaning out of my window to record it, hence all the moving on the video.

“I watched it for about five minutes then got back into bed. To the naked eye it was really bright silver and oblongish,

“I was really surprised looking at the video that it was round and had different colours. It looked as if it was stationary but it did start moving upwards in a straight line. I've no idea what it is and wondered if it was a space station or a Chinese lantern.”

She said it was highish in the sky but lower than stars and she could not see the shape or colours with the naked eye.

Because she has a south facing garden she guesses it was towards Gloucester about 1am on Tuesday morning.

Declassified images show countless nuclear bombs were detonated in Earth’s atmosphere

One of the most cited and least-interpreted quotations from the history of the atomic age is what J. Robert Oppenheimer claimed to have thought when he witnessed the world’s first nuclear explosion: “I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.”

Shortly after Oppenheimer, director of the laboratory that developed the atomic bomb, saw the fireball glowing over the New Mexico desert at the Trinity test site on 16 July 1945, those words derived from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad-Gita came to his mind.

The quotation appears throughout the literature on nuclear weapons, often in a slightly different form: “I am become Death, the shatterer of worlds.”

Above-ground nuke testing was banned in 1963, but thousands of films from those destructive tests that have remained rotting-away in secret vaults around the country.

However, as times change and as classified material becomes declassified, we now have access to a huge amount of video footage and images.

What we are looking at is destruction at its best. Such force sends chills down your spine, and watching these videos and images makes me wonder just why we waste our human intellect producing weapons of mass destruction, and not technologies that would allow us to travel the stars.

Just imagine where we would be today as a civilization if all of the countries in the world spent more time developing future technologies for space explorations, rather than weapons to kill each other?

What you are about to see in these images is not an art exhibition, it is an exhibition of war, an exhibition of terror, an exhibition of destruction embedded deep inside humanity.

When have we gone astray, to the point that we produce destruction instead of development?

These macabre images, which will definitely give you goosebumps, were recently declassified, and show a number of atmospheric nuclear tests performed by the US in the 60’s.

The day we decided to test nuclear weapons in the atmosphere marked a tragic day for our planet, but also for mankind.

The military wanted to determine whether or not it was possible to shoot a nuclear missile from the sky.

The tests could not determine the goal because of the extreme difficulty in actually making a nuke go off in the sky at that time.

However, what these images Do confirm is that more than half a century ago mankind was already capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to the atmosphere.

We hope that these photos will make us reflect and question this type of practice.

Given the current tension between North Korea and the US, these photographs could make us see a dark future that—I think we all agree—no one wishes to witness.

The mystery continues: Russian scientists disprove the myth of the “Tunguska meteor”

The Tunguska explosion was a very high-powered aerial explosion that occurred near the Podkamennaya River in Tunguska (Evenkia, Siberia, Russia) at 7:17 on June 30, 1908. The detonation, similar to that of a high-powered thermonuclear weapon, has been attributed to a comet or an asteroid. However, researchers now say it was not the case.

The survivors of the area affected by the explosion described it as a giant mushroom that was rising through the air. The animals fled, and the tents of the tunguses located more than 50 km away flew through the air.

Until this day, no one has been able to explain as to what exactly exploded over Russia.

The Tunguska phenomenon eventually produced more than 30 hypotheses and theories about what happened.

The detonation, similar to that of a high-powered thermonuclear weapon, has been attributed to a comet or an asteroid.

Because no fragment has ever been recovered is believed that what exploded over Russia was a comet made of ICE.

As it did not reach Earth’s surface, no crater or astrobleme was produced.

However, 108 years later, the phenomenon of the Tunguska meteorite remains a mystery.

Until now it was maintained that the explosion of a meteor near the Podkámennaya River, in Siberia, was what eventually formed Lake Cheko.

However, Russian scientists proved that this lake could not be a crater since it is at least 280 years old.

The Tunguska explosion devastated an area of 2,150 square kilometers of forest, broke windows and knocked down people who were within a radius of 400 kilometers away from the impact zone.

In the following days, the inhabitants of Europe witnessed a series of strange phenomena, such as luminous clouds, colorful sunsets and unusual lights at night.

The European media then claimed that it was either a UFO incident or a volcanic eruption.

However, political events in imperial Russia prevented further investigation of this strange phenomenon.

19 years later, an expedition led by Russian scientist Leonid Kulik arrived in Tunguska to examine the site of the explosion.

However, the researchers failed to discover any traces of the meteorites.

Kulik explained that this was because the extraterrestrial matter burned completely when entering the atmosphere.

Much later, in 2007, a scientific team from the University of Bologna (Italy), led by Luca Gasperini, proposed a theory according to which Lake Cheko was the supposed crater left by the Tunguska meteorite due to its unusual shape and depth.

Gasperini claimed that the existence of this lake was unknown before 1908.

However, in July 2016, a team of scientists from Siberia managed to figure out the exact age of Lake Cheko and stated that, because the Tunguska region was practically not on the maps before the 20th century, the lake could exist before the Tunguska event.

To determine the age of the lake through biochemical analyzes, samples of the bottom were taken.

Recently, colleagues from the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy of the Siberian delegation of the Russian Academy of Sciences have completed the radioscopic analysis of the samples obtained, according to a report published on the website of the Russian Geographical Society.

According to the results of the analysis, the lake is at least 280 years old, which shows that the Cheko is much older than the Tunguska event.

The results of this study were published in a specialized scientific journal on July 30, 2017, said in an interview with Sputnik, Denis Rogozin, a researcher at the Siberian delegation of the Academy of Sciences.

With this new discovery, Russian scientists have disproved the international community’s last hope to clarify the circumstances surrounding the strange explosion that shuck Tunguska and everything else in a 400-kilometer radius—one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in history.

THE MYSTERY OF THE GIANT BLUE EYE OF THE SAHARA

The Eye of the Sahara has been hiding for millennia in plain sight. This was due to the fact that the mysterious geological formation, despite it being huge, is very difficult to spot when on the ground level.

It was only when NASA began to send people into space that the bulls-eye among the sand was discovered for the first time. Even now scientists are still wondering about it and still have questions.

EYE OF THE SAHARA IS AROUND 25 MILES ACROSS  

The Eye of the Sahara was formally known as the Richat structure, and it is situated in the Mauritania in the Western Sahara Desert. The formation is around 25 miles across. The Gemini IV mission took a four-day orbit around the Earth and when it was being readied in 1965 astronauts were told to take some photographs of the terrain of the Earth. They were asked to keep an eye out for large circular features that might be the impact structures roots, according to the text that came with some photographs that had been published from the mission.

Impact craters are very important in geological terms as they tell people about the Earth’s history. They also reveal to scientists how many times space rocks have come crashing onto the planet and this is then able to help scientists to predict what might happen in the future. For quite some time the scientists believed that the Eye of the Sahara was, in fact, an impact crater. However, one thing was missing from the theory; there was not enough melted rock. Now more current theories have suggested that there is a story that is much more complicated behind the natural formation.

SCIENTISTS BELIEVE EYE COULD HAVE FORMED 100 MILLION YEARS AGO  

It is believed that the Eyes main ring structure could be the eroded remains of what might have been a dome of layers of the crust of the Earth. While scientists still have many questions about the structure, two geologists from Canada have come up with a working theory about how the Eye may have come about.   

They said that the formation of the Eye might have started over 100 million years ago when Pangaea, the supercontinent, was torn apart by the plate tectonics along with South America and Africa being torn away from each other. They say that the molten rock that pushed upwards toward the Earth’s surface perhaps did not make it all the way and this could have created rock layers in a dome, much like a large pimple on the surface of the skin. This may then have created fault lines that circled and crossed the Eye. The molten rock would also have dissolved limestone close to the middle of the Eye and this would have then collapsed and would have formed a type of rock called breccia.  

Shortly after 100 million years, the Eye would have erupted in a violent fashion, and the bubble would have collapsed partway, while erosion would have done the rest and thus created the Eye of the Sahara. The rings of the structure would have been made from rocks of different types that would have eroded at speeds that differed over time. The much paler of the circles close to the middle of the Eye is the volcanic rock that would have been created by the explosion.

ASTRONAUTS USE THE EYE AS A KEY LANDMARK 

Astronauts are very fond of the Eye as a lot of the Sahara Desert is nothing more than a sea of sand that is unbroken. The Eye is just one of very few breaks in the sand, and it does away with the monotony, and for astronauts, it has now become one of the key landmarks.

There are some people who think that the Eye of the Sahara might be the remains of the city of Atlantis as Plato was said to have described it as being concentric rings of land and water.

MYSTERIOUS SKY PHENOMENON CAPTURED IN CHINA

The orange phenomenon was discovered in the Chinese province of Jiangxi. The footage has aroused great interest in the social media.

According to witnesses, the strange formation stayed in the air for about ten minutes, then it disintegrated.

As one can imagine, the phenomenon has triggered speculation as to whether it could be a kind of UFO.

Het creëren van menselijk hersenweefsel uit stamcellen zelf is niet nieuw. Het gebeurde voor het eerst vier jaar geleden in een lab in Wenen. De meest geavanceerde zijn niet groter dan een linze en werden tot nu toe alleen gekweekt in testbuizen. Ze pulseren met dezelfde soort elektrische activiteit die echte hersenen aansturen en doen nieuwe neuronen ontstaan. Ze ontwikkelen ook de zes lagen van de menselijke hersenschors, die onder meer verantwoordelijk is voor ons denken, beoordelingsvermogen en onze spraak.

Zulke organoïdes zijn een revolutionaire stap in het onderzoek naar de ontwikkeling van het menselijke brein en ziektes zoals Alzheimer en Zika. Maar het brengt de wetenschap ook in onbekende ethische wateren. “Niet dat ik denk dat een organoïde in een proefbuis kan denken, maar we moeten wel bekijken wat de ethische impact van deze ontwikkeling is”, aldus neurowetenschapper Hongjun Song van de universiteit van Pennsylvania.

Dringend

Daarover nadenken is sinds deze week net iets dringender geworden. Want op het jaarlijkse congres van de Society for Neuroscience in het Amerikaanse Washington DC stellen twee teams van wetenschappers deze week een rapport voor waaruit blijkt dat ze zulke miniversies van het menselijke brein ingeplant hebben in de hersenen van muizen en ratten. En waarin het vooruitzicht wordt geopperd dat die minihersenen zich verder zouden kunnen ontwikkelen in de dieren.

Een lab bevestigt zelfs dat het de organoïdes verbond met de bloedsomloop van de knaagdieren, waardoor ze verder kunnen groeien. De enige manier om uiteindelijk volledig ontwikkelde hersenen te simuleren, waarmee aandoeningen als autisme, epilepsie en schizofrenie onderzocht kunnen worden, zo klinkt het. “We komen zo op compleet onbekend ethisch terrein”, zegt Christof Koch van het Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle. “De wetenschap gaat zo snel, dat de ethiek niet kan bijhouden.”

Idem voor de wetgeving, want waar de National Institutes of Health een moratorium hebben op het verlenen van fondsen aan research die menselijke stamcellen in embryo’s van gewervelde dieren inbrengt, bestaat er nog geen wetgeving rond het inplanten van de pas ontwikkelde organoïdes.

In de nieuwe experimenten – waarover nog nooit werd gecommuniceerd – bleken de meeste transplantaties succesvol en eentje hield het zelfs twee maanden uit. Meer nog, ontwikkelde neuronen van het menselijke brein stuurden axons – die elektrische signalen van het ene neuron naar het andere overbrengen – naar verscheidene delen van het brein van het knaagdier. Over de grootte van de organoïdes en de effecten op het gedrag van de muis wilde Fred Gage van het Salk Institute, een van de meest vermaarde neurobiologen ter wereld, echter nog niets kwijt tot zijn paper gepubliceerd is.

Frankenstein

Voor alle duidelijkheid: zo een miniversie van het menselijk brein kan zelfs nog niet de grootte van de hersenen van een kind bereiken in een muis en dat beperkt bijna zeker hoe complex ze kan worden. Beide experimenten gebruikten ook volwassen ratten, van wie de hersenen niet meer groeien. Anders zou het kunnen zijn als ze al ingeplant worden in foetussen. “Het is moeilijk voor te stellen hoe dat menselijke cognitieve capaciteiten zoals het bewustzijn zou beïnvloeden bij de dieren”, aldus bio-ethicus Jonathan Kimmelman van de McGilluniversiteit van Montreal.

Het is hoe dan ook een interessante discussie volgens zijn collega Josephine Johnston van The Hastings Center. “We deden in het verleden experimenten op muizen omdat ze niet menselijk zijn. Maar als we hen kleine menselijke breinen geven. Wat betekent dat voor hun intelligentie? En hun bewustzijn?”

En ook hun collega Hank Greely van de universiteit van Stanford maakt die bedenking. “Op zeker moment in de toekomst kan het zijn dat wat we gemaakt hebben zelfs een zeker respect verdient. Volgend jaar vieren we de 200ste verjaardag van ‘Frankenstein’ van Mary Shelly. Ik denk dat het verhaal een nieuwe relevantie heeft in het licht van de ontwikkelingen waarover we het hier hebben.”

Artificial Intelligence, vriend of vijand? Een gesprek met robot Sophia, die ooit zei dat ze mensen wilde vernietigen -  HLN.be

Sophia werd ontwikkeld door Hanson Robotics in Hong Kong en kan volgens haar maker gezichten herkennen en een echt gesprek aangaan. Momenteel is de robot, ’s werelds eerste ‘cyborg citizen’ dankzij staatsburgerschap in Saoedi-Arabië - bezig aan een demonstratietour. Zo sprak ze deze maand onder meer de Verenigde Naties toe. “Ik ben hier om de mensheid te helpen”, zei ze. Tijdens de Future Investment Initiative in de Saoedische hoofdstad Riyad dreef Sophia de spot met Elon Musk, CEO van Tesla en SpaceX, die regelmatig waarschuwt voor de gevaren van kunstmatige intelligentie. “Je leest teveel Elon Musk”, repliceerde ze op een vraag rond de bezorgdheid over Artificial Intelligence (AI). Ze voegde er het klinkende “Als je lief bent tegen mij, ben ik ook lief tegen jou”, aan toe. Zulke uitspraken geven critici zoals Musk alvast koude rillingen.

Ook journalist Jim Edwards van Business Insider was enigzins bezorgd over zijn interactie met Sophia. Niet geheel onterecht gelet op het pittige detail dat zij zich vorig jaar op de SXSW-conferentie in Texas had laten ontvallen dat ze mensen wil vermoorden. Op een grappende vraag van haar ‘vader’, creator David Hanson, of Sophia de mensheid wil vernietigen, antwoordde ze met een glimlach op het gezicht: “Oké, ik zal mensen vernietigen.”

Wat we kunnen besluiten als we Sophia nu, een jaar later, tijdens haar tocht van zelfpromotie als nuttige en vriendelijke mensenvriend bezig zien? Dat ze écht heel goed gemaakt is. Haar beweeglijke hoofd en lichaam, alsook haar levensechte gelaatsuitdrukkingen en verbale intonatie zijn bijwijlen griezelig natuurlijk. Andere keren zijn ze ongemakkelijk, misplaatst of simpelweg bizar. De AI-beroemdheid is inderdaad in staat om een intellectueel en spontaan gesprek aan te gaan, zelfs als je haar ongeplande vragen voorschotelt - en slaagt er zelfs in om vragen die haar niet zinnen te negeren. Maar er gaat ook nog zoveel mis. De interviewer krijgt een gala aan antwoorden die sterk variëren in kwaliteit: van indrukwekkend naar compleet onzinnig. 

De bezorgdheden die met AI gepaard gaan, blijven evenwel. Als interviewer Jim Edwards de eerste beleefdheden achter zit laat voor het echtere werk – meer bepaald te weten komen of Sophia er stiekem nog altijd genocidale meningen op nahoudt - krijgt het interview een bizarre wending. “Vind je mensen leuk?”, vraagt Edwards. Pijnlijk lange stilte. “Ik hou van hen”, klinkt het uiteindelijk. Waarom weet Sophia nog niet. “Is het waar dat je ooit heb gezegd dat je mensen wil vermoorden?”, vraagt Edwards wat later tijdens het gesprek. Opnieuw een oorverdovende stilte, om bij het volgende opmerkelijke antwoord te eindigen: “Het punt is dat ik vol menselijke wijsheid zit met enkel de puurste altruïstische intenties. Dus ik denk dat je me het best als dusdanig behandelt.” Oké dan.

Al bij al toont Sophia aan dat de technologie rond AI, hoewel in de kinderschoenen, ook al ver staat. Want ondanks dat de rare samensmelting van mens en machine soms raar reageert of uit het niks de vreemdste blik uit haar hoed tovert, haar vooruitgang is opzienbarend. Vergeet niet: Sophia is amper 1 jaar oud – “ik heb nog een lange weg te gaan”, zegt ze zelf over haar leeftijd – en heeft het nu al genoeg bij het goede eind om een idee te krijgen van hoeveel beter (en vreemder) zij en creaties net zoals zij in de toekomst zullen zijn.

“De mogelijke negatieve gevolgen van Artificiële Intelligentie zijn miniem in vergelijking met de voordelen die deze technologie biedt”, betoogt robotexpert en ontwerper David Hanson. “Als vriend en helper.”

Are you tired of seeing that same old video supposedly taken of an alien autopsy after the Roswell ‘crash’ that is admittedly fake and may be a recreation of another fake? It’s time to pay a visit to the “Dark Web” where a different video is making the rounds this week with claims it is of an alien examination in Switzerland in 1992. Is this the real deal?

The video was uploaded on November 6 to the non-dark web by the UFO Today YouTube channel. (A safe link to the video is here.) It’s not clear if they added anything more to the posted video than their logo at the beginning and end. After the logo, it opens with the comment “I found this footage on a server on the dark web.” Again, it’s not clear if this and other comments were on the original ‘dark web’ video or added by the uploader.

The next comment is: “It did not contain any references other EBE 1992, Eiger.” The significance of this is either a coincidence or a hoax indicator. “EBE” is short for “extraterrestrial biological entity” and is also the name of the 17th episode of the first season of “The X-Files,” probably one of the most remembered because it introduced The Lone Gunmen. “Eiger” most likely refers to the Eiger mountain in the Burmese Alps. Its north face is one of the most photographed sights of the Swiss Alps and one of the most challenging for climbers. There don’t appear to be any records of UFO sightings in this are. However, “1992” was a big year for the Eiger — Catherine Destivelle became the first woman to complete a solo ascent of the north face, reaching the top in 17 hours … in winter! Significant but seemingly not related to this video.

The content of the video itself is a drawing of what looks like an alien’s head and photographs of humans in a cold environment standing around what looks like a small, naked being with long thin arms, a large head and wide almond-shaped eyes – the classic grey alien look. The quality is grainy but visible. However, there’s not much to aid in identifying the location, who the people are, what organization if any they might be working for and if it’s really 1992 in Eiger.

With the recent revelations about the recreation of the Roswell video, this one must be examined with a great degree of skepticism until more information, if any exists, is found. One thought is that it’s a human child, although the head, eyes and arms suggest otherwise. One angle at 0:36 in the video shows the being’s hands and they look like they may only have three long fingers … could this be another of the 3-fingered mummiescausing so much controversy in Peru?

For now, the needle on this video is pointing close to “hoax” but new data, more images, UFO records from 1992 and the like could move it to the right. Especially if it’s connected to the Lone Gunmen!

Teleportation-Voodoo Rituals: Patient who suddenly disappeared was found dead in the hospital's ceiling!

A mystery that cannot be explained is being looked into at the Stellenbosch Hospital in South Africa where a 61-year-old patient mysteriously disappeared. Almost two weeks later they discovered the body in the hospital’s ceiling of an isolated area of the Stellenbosch Hospital.

Father of six, Teteteke Gqotsi was admitted to the hospital on October 5 after he underwent abdominal surgery where the staff said he would make a recovery.

On that day, October 5, a nurse entered the room and Mr. Gqotsi was safely in his bed, moreover it was said that he was not be able to move from the bed.

Then the mystery begins, within one minute the nurse left the room to fetch clean linen for the beds and when she came back into the room Mr. Gqutsi had disappeared from the bed in which he had been laying.

The police who investigate this mysterious case along with the hospital’s staff remain baffled as to how he disappeared from his bed and ended up dead in the hospital’s ceiling as he was said to be in a post-operative state.

Since it seems impossible that a man so soon after surgery and with no possibility to got out of his bed, managed to climb up into the ceiling in the very short period the nurse left the room.

Now there is much speculation that Mr. Gqotsi was a victim of a secret teleport experience that gone wrong, though a teleportation does not seem very plausible.

Another possibility is that he has become the victim of Voodoo rituals.

Voodoo refers to a whole assortment of cultural elements: personal creeds and practices, including an elaborate system of folk medical practices and possessing the bodies of their worshipers.

According to the 61-year-old’s family, following their meeting with the hospital's management Gqotsi’s brother, Christmas Khethwane, said the hospital failed to give the family a proper explanation on which they have concluded that foul play has occurred, reports iol.co.za.

Meanwhile it remains a mystery how he ended up in the hospital’s ceiling.

California Object

Santa Anna — On Sunday, October 22, 2017 at about 3 p.m., three of us saw a very strange object in the sky, at 90 degrees straight up. Sitting on our back patio, one of us noticed something odd in the sky. We watched an object not moving like a plane or balloon, but was hovering, and would only turn. It was so distant, that you would only see it with the naked eye when the sun reflected off it. Comparing it to cigar shaped UFO sightings online, it’s the only thing we came up with. I took some photos with a 500 mm lens and then enlarged them. Also viewed it with binoculars. It was interesting and we watched for 30 minutes or so..

Rowland Heights — While driving up Vantage Point Drive I saw a black cigar shaped UFO on October 24, 2017. At first I could not stop because of someone was behind me. I pulled over and made a U turn. When I swung around I grabbed my phone, and started filming the UFO was now further away from me. But the video shows the UFO moving away from my location and it has no wings or a tail. I would guess the UFO was fairly large since it must had been 20 miles from me when it goes out of sight. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Tarpon Springs — I’m trying to see if anyone has reported or posted about anything on Thursday November 2, 2017 around midnight. My father, grandfather, neighbor and I were outside because our horses were all stirred up, scared and anxious. My grandfather told us to look up and we saw one light that separated into three lights that formed a triangle. They did move side to side then took off fast in different directions and faded away. Today we saw three military choppers escorting a white very big chopper and it had no ID number or any insignia. I served with Marine Corps for 15 years and I never seen anything like that. We do live in a very rural area close to the Alafia River about 25-30 minutes from MacDill Air Force Base, we do know people on the base and they have never heard or seen anything related to the choppers or any drills performed that night. Lyerly — I was swimming in my pool around 6 p.m. on August 1, 2017, when I observed a strange cloud moving slowly over the tree line behind my home. I always observe the chemtrails and I’m always photographing the clouds. I reacted physically and emotionally upon viewing the cloud. As I watched the cloud come over the tree line the hairs on my neck stood up.  I climbed out of my pool to retrieve my phone and took 5 photos at 6:04 p.m. before I became overwhelmed with fear. I had become so terrified with unexplainable irrational fear. I went back out to see it again but it was gone. I have witnessed this same shape 3x’s since that day. It was the same size and shape but not a shadow or a hole punched in a cloud. This thing is larger than many planes. Annada — My family and I were at a hunt club, fishing on October 28, 2017.  On Saturday night I was on the duck house deck looking east above the tree line about a mile away there was a very large hovering UFO. It stayed in one spot for 10 minutes  as I grabbed the binoculars and saw a beautiful perfectly round craft with lights in a perfect row all the way around!

Without the binoculars the lights looked yellowish, with the binoculars the lights were perfectly round bright white lights! I called my son and nephew out and they also saw it and took pictures but they look nothing like what I saw.

I took way more pictures than what’s actually on my phone,. It did move slightly up and down and after about 20 minutes from first spotting it, it was gone! Thanks to MUFON CMS

New Jersey Object

Hoboken — I was leaving my door early on November 12, 2016 at 6:45 AM and looked up into the western sky as I always do.  I saw a thin white object the shape of a elongated oval  moving thru the sky from north to southwest. I quickly ran to my car and grabbed my camera canon 20 d w zoom lens and took about 15 shots of the object before it passed behind my building.

Oregon –12 Flying Diamond

Mt. Sylvania – On October 24, 2017, at around 10 PM a whole series diamond shaped flying objects went over my friend and I. The objects were close enough to see the outline and to see the shape of them and the lights over Portland. There were a total of 12, plus eight diamond shaped objects heading NW. Then two more of a diamond shaped ones went overhead again. I called the Gilliland Ranch the following day, and I was told it was a very active night. This is the first time I have ever seen anything. were traveling NW. One came from view in back of the house and then circled back and headed the same route the others had come from.

I live in Mt Sylvania which was once an active volcano. I found a couple of objects online that looks like them. They seemed to hum loud and were flat diamond shaped, nose elongated and silver. There were white lights on corners and no wings. I saw two really close to each other that flew behind the trees and disappeared.. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Gidding — I observed a light in the shy that blinked and hovered on September 30, 2017. The light became more aggressive in flashing but was very small like a reflective mirror at first. This went on for several minutes then the light became huge in the sky like a very large spotlight and shined on me for a about a minute. I had never seen anything like it in the sky before so I ran to get my phone. Right when I put the phone up to video tape it the light disappeared. Although I didn’t see anything at the time I went ahead and filmed the sky. Later I went back and viewed my film and noticed that I caught it on camera. It looked kind of like a hockey puck and then changed shaped to look more like a saucer. It seemed to be ascending and descending to try to prevent me from filming maybe..Not sure but I have the images of what was up in the sky. Buenos Aires — Taking about the chemtrails and how they were spraying over Buenos Aires on October 3, 2017. After looking at the pictures first notice the anomaly and then the round light on the sky.

Scarborough — On Friday, October 20,2017, while on afternoon work break I was outside facing towards the north looking up the clear blue sky. I noticed a very high, slow moving, glinting white light object that was at least 5,000 feet. high This object was a quarter mile away directly north of my position. It moved extremely slow brightly flashing a white light

If the object was not flashing you would not able to see it! After about thirty seconds pulled out my camera and started to film at 3:15 Pm. As I watched and photographed the UFO moved directly straight above my position. That’s when I lost sight of it – gone! I had taken 32 pictures and found one of the last one’s taken on full zoom [ 30 X]  picture. You can clearly some type of white long ‘craft with some detail. It is very interesting that the day before [Oct.19] I had another one an altitude of 1000 feet and much quicker than this object high up. France Light

Paris — I was arriving at the bottom of my brother’s building in Bagneux on November 1, 2017, I phoned my children and I saw an orange ball followed by two others flying parallel and at the same speeds. Then a fourth and a minute later a fifth appeared.
When I saw the first object I found its irrelevance because of the color the shape and the distance above the building. I quickly hang up my phone and two other lights appeared and flew coast to coast. I started filming with my Galaxy Note 4 as the lights began to drop intensity, a few seconds later I was on exciter but I did not say anything because I have already filmed a UFO next to the Montmorency Falls in Quebec.

I stopped filming and the fourth ball was pumping over the building so I turned on the camera and I saw a fifth ball pass over. None of these objects were making any noise for over an hour. The shape and the orange color could not be planes. They did not have anti collision lights that the we usually see flashing on the planes for Bagneux which has been classified in Zone p because of the nuclear facilities. hanks to MUFON CMS

Ilkley – I was washing the dishes on the afternoon of October 27, 2017 and I looked out of my window and saw a UFO. There was no sound from the plane nor a trail behind it. It was either white or reflective silver with two spherical balls joined together, but sometimes it looked like it was spinning. It has a sort of shaded underneath and reminds me of a metal Chinese stress ball. We see planes all the time but this was unlike any plane. It looked like it was going at constant speed.
