ISS camera filmed a strange encounter between two bizarre objects over our heads

The International Space Station camera is watched by many online. It shows a live feed from the ISS and in the past people have said it has captured UFOs. Recently one user of YouTube captured footage 7 minutes in length that seems to show a strange encounter took place in space.

Two Metallic Objects Approached Each Other

Someone posted the footage of what they say is an encounter between two objects in space. The video went down well with fans of UFO and the strange. It shows what seem to be two gilded metal objects approaching each other slowly in space. However, it does look like NASA might also have noticed the objects and eventually cut the feed, as they have done before.

The encounter between the strange objects occurred directly in front of the International Space Station. People who watched the video capture of the event said that it was weird that NASA did not cut the feed earlier. In the past, people watching the feed have said they have seen something strange, and the feed is abruptly cut off.

Artifacts or Alien Spacecraft Meeting?

This time the feed was left running for seven minutes before being cut off. In the first four of those minutes, the two objects seem to be partially transparent. Skeptics were quick to suggest that the appearance of the objects were merely artifacts probably caused by flares from the camera lens. However, after the four minutes mark the objects take on a more apparent full look to them, doing away with the thought of them being artifacts from the camera.

It was also pointed out that the objects do seem to have subtle adjustments made to them. For instance, they speed up, the shape of them seems to change slowly, and they light up.

Objects seem to Have Spheres Attached to Them

Many people who have watched the video are of the belief that what was witnessed was a close encounter between two alien craft. Between the fourth and fifth minutes of the video, a three-dimensional change occurs in the object's appearance when light moves around. It looks like the objects have spheres attached to them.

The video has had people drawing many conclusions about what the objects were. One person said they thought the image to the right might be the Hubble satellite, while on the left it might be the Black Knight.

Did Those on the ISS Know the Objects Were There?

What was pointed out was the fact that the speed of both objects corresponded to that of the ISS. As the objects remained in view throughout the video until the feed was stopped, the assumption is that those on the International Space Station knew the objects were there. It is also thought that the craft might have known the ISS was there and had seen it before.

Of course, this is not the first time a meeting such as this has been captured by the ISS camera, nor is it the first time someone has spoken up about an alien meeting. Mark McClelland, a former engineer at NASA said that he had been at a meeting that took place between an alien that was 9 feet tall and astronauts. This meeting was said to have occurred in the cargo bay on a space shuttle. Something similar might have occurred on the ISS.

Geological evidence proves that the Great Sphinx is 800,000 years old

One of the most mysterious and mysterious monuments on the surface of the planet is, without a doubt, the Great Sphinx on the Giza Plateau in Egypt. It is an ancient building that has astounded researchers since its discovery and to this day no one has been able to date the sphinx accurately, as there are no written records or mentions of it in the past.

Now two Ukrainian researchers have put forward a new provocative theory in which they suggest that the Great Sphinx of Egypt is about 800,000 years old. A revolutionary theory supported by scientific knowledge.

The authors of this paper are scientists Manichev Vjacheslav I. (Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) and Alexander G. Parkhomenko (Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine).

The starting point for these two experts is the paradigm shift initiated by West and Schoch, a "debate" to overcome the orthodox view of Egyptology, which refers to possible distant origins of Egyptian civilization, and on the other hand physical evidence of water erosion that is present at the monuments of the Giza Plateau.

Manichev and Parkhomenko explain: The problem of dating the construction of the Great Sphinx of Egypt still exists despite the long history of research. Geological approaches in conjunction with other scientific methods make it possible to answer the question of the relative age of the Sphinx.

The visual examination of the sphinx led to the conclusion that water from large waters, which partially flooded the monument, played an important role in the formation of undulating depressions on its vertical walls. The morphology of these formations shows an analogy to similar cavities formed by the sea in the coastal zones.

The genetic similarity of the compared erosion forms and the geological structure and petrographic composition of the sedimentary rock complexes lead to the conclusion that the decisive factor for the destruction of the historical monument is rather the wave energy than the sand abrasion in the aeolian process.

Extensive geological literature confirms the existence of long-lived freshwater lakes in different periods of the Quaternary from the Lower Pleistocene to the Holocene. These lakes were scattered over the areas bordering the Nile. The absolute marking of the upper large erosion cave of the sphinx corresponds to the water surface level reached in the early Pleistocene. The Great Egyptian Sphinx had thus already stood on the Giza plateau at this geological (historical) time.

SpaceX Announces Upgrades for Ship That Will Recover Crew Dragon Astronauts

The capsule needs to prove itself very soon.

SpaceX stands to be the first private company in history to launch humans past the atmosphere as early as April 2019. The company’s Crew Dragon capsule has been selected to begin conducting uncrewed testing for NASA’s reborn space shuttle program no earlier than November 2018, and SpaceX is gearing up by retrofitting the spacecraft’s recovery ship.

The GO Searcher will be solely responsible for fishing the Crew Dragon and the astronauts that will one day be aboard out of the ocean once the capsule re-enters the atmosphere. To prepare for this crucial step, Elon Musk’s aerospace company has begun modifying the ship with three big updates to streamline the recovery process.

The ship has already been performing mock recovery trials for the past year, preparing for an eventual dress rehearsal. These additions should help the Crew Dragon pass the tests that are required for it to be adopted by NASA’s space program.

1. Crewed Dragon Upgrades: Helicopter Pad

A helipad is currently under construction in the central area of the vessel. This will allow for the quick and easy transport of astronauts from the capsule to Cape Canaveral. It will also serve to get engineers, doctors, and other personnel necessary for recovery efforts aboard the ship.

GO Searcher will be many kilometers off of the coast of Florida during its eventual recovery missions, so making it accessible by air is a critical step in speeding up the process.

2. Crewed Dragon Upgrades: Potential Radar Dome

A big white dome has been added to the vessel, which will likely function as means to facilities communications with Crew Dragon or radar detection.

This piece of equipment was attached toward the front end of the ship during the course of a few weeks it was in maintenance.

3. Crewed Dragon Upgrades: Hydraulic Lift

Finally, the GO Searcher will be receiving a hydraulic arm designed to lift the Crew Dragon out of the water and into the ship to be transported back to shore. This was placed at the rear of the vessel, where the capsule will come to rest in a flat area.

All three of these upgrades have the potential to improve the prep time for recovery missions as well as assist during the operations itself. We’ll have to wait and see how they perform on the day of the Crew Dragon’s first uncrewed test run.

Over the years and decades, there have been a number of “waves” and “flaps” of UFO activity. There was, of course, the huge surge of activity that began in June 1947, with the case of pilot Kenneth Arnold. In the wake of the Arnold incident, numerous reports of Flying Saucers dominated the U.S. media – and elsewhere too. In the summer of 1952, Washington, D.C. was the target of multiple UFOs. Two years later, there was another huge wave of activity, much of which was focused on Europe. And, in October 1973, there was yet another flap in the United States. In 1989 and 1990, Belgium was hit by countless numbers of encounters with what became known as “Flying Triangles.” Less well known, however, are the large numbers of encounters that occurred in Spain, back in the 1970s.

At the time of the encounters – which ran from late 1973 to mid-1974 – the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)  took an interest in these encounters. Eight separate reports have now been declassified so far. The most interesting one is a document titled “Spanish UFO Sightings” that surfaced, in the 1980s, from the archives of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). It’s a collection of data that the DoD secured specifically from Spanish newspapers and that provides a notable and useful look at that large wave of activity.

The DoD stated: “During the period September 1973 to June 1974 a rash of UFOs appeared over Spain and sightings were reported by various types of people.

The following table summarizes these sightings.

• Date: 11 Sep 73. Location: El Ferrol del Caudillo. Description: Bright, circular, with two hoops, appeared to have feet on bottom part. Emitted a very powerful light. Observer: Various. Remarks: Was immobile during time of observation.
• Date: 11 Dec 73 (early morning). Location: Malaga. Description: Circular, like a flying saucer, had an intense red light. Observer: Various residents of Salitro and Cuarteles Streets, Malaga. Remarks: Remained quiet for about 15 minutes, then departed suddenly towards Torremolinos.”

While the cases described above were fairly scant – in terms of the data available – that cannot be said for all the reports.

Consider, for example, all of the following, which are far more intriguing: 

• “Date: 23 Mar 74. Location: 5 kilometers south of Castille de las Guardas. Description: Mother-ship – aluminum, 150-200 meters long. Three smaller ships resembling mushrooms. Flew silently, had no windows but towers above and below. Observer: Traveling salesman from Sevilla. Remarks: Was pursued by one of the smaller ships, which disappeared as observer entered village of Castillo de las Gaurdas.”

Also on March 23, there was this:

• “Date: 23 Mar 74. Location: On highway near Sanlucar de Barrameda. Description: Luminous, metal-like. Observer: Chauffeur of President of Cadis Provincial Commission. Remarks: Object moved upward with great brilliancy. As observer approached object, he felt a strange sensation. His car finally came practically to a stop, wavering back and forth like a feather.”
• Moving on to March 1974, the DoD noted this case: “Date: 26 Mar 74. Location: Valdehjijaderos. Description: Luminous. Strange object like a plate placed above another large, round object. Observer: 21-year-old truck driver. Remarks: Was motionless over the highway about 200 meters from observer. A similar object, also motionless, was seen 15-20 meters away. Two beings came out of the first vehicle, pointed to observer’s truck, then went in again and both UFO’s flew away.”

One day later there was yet another development:

• “Date: 27 Mar 74. Location: Valdehjijaderos. Description: Silver. Observer: 21-year-old truck driver. Remarks: Three silver ships parked on the highway with light similar to floodlight. Observer stopped motor of his car and some figures approached him. He ran, frightened, and they followed him. He threw himself into a gutter. His pursuers passed within 2 meters and he saw them. They were about 2 meters tall, had arms and legs but he did not see their faces. After they passed he returned to the truck. The beings returned to observe him again, then they entered their ships and left. Next day the Guardia Civil made an investigation. They found a hole in the ground, which the truck driver said he had not made.”

That was not the only incident that occurred on the same day, the 27th:

• “Date: 27 Mar 74. Location: Malaga. Description: Big, luminous, moved slowly, pale like a gaseous mass. Observer: Photographer. Remarks: Photographed by 25 cm teleobjective lens, published in local paper. Later two more UFO’s were discovered when the negative was developed. The UFO sighted disappeared slowly. Fifteen minutes later a small blue-violet mass was visible.”

Matters were still afoot in April:

• “Date: 14 Apr 74. Location: Herrera de Alcantara. Description: Rhomboid, formed by luminous, hoary lights. In upper lefthand part there was a pink-yellowish semicircle which became a circle as UFO came near ground level. Student claims he heard a prolonged noise like that from an old alarm clock. Professor estimated size of smaller diagonal of rhomboid to be about 20 meters. Observer: Professor, his wife and a student. Remarks: Was observed at ground level from a distance of 300 meters for 5 or 6 minutes, then flew northeast.”

Now, on to mid-June:

• “Date: 16 June 74 (5 a.m.). Location: Caceres. Description: Luminous, emitting brilliant light on the highway. Observer: 46-year-old laborer. Remarks: Was pursued by UFO for several kilometers at great speed. Saw three tall figures standing inside the ship. When observer extinguished the lights on his car, the object drew away. Then as he turned them on again, UFO approached again at enormous speed some 70 meters over his car. It followed him home and when he turned out his car lights, it slowly flew away.”

Interestingly, the Department of Defense also noted, in closing: “Comments: It is of interest to note that in April of this year teams of extra sensory perception specialists held a meeting in Malaga for the purpose of scientifically studying the UFOs seen in that vicinity. Results of this meeting unknown.”

There are certain archeological finds that are worthy of being described as something that will “change history as we know it.” Often, the find includes a pyramid where there aren’t any others, a huge lost city, gold and jewels beyond description and, of course, massive human sacrifices. A new discover in China check all of those boxes. Is it change-worthy?

“Evidence so far suggests that the stepped pyramid complex functioned not only as a residential space for ruling Shimao elites, but also as a space for artisanal or industrial craft production.”

When you’re located in close proximity to the Great Wall of China, your identity can easily be absorbed by it. That seems to have been the case with a pile of rubble in Shenmu County, Shaanxi, in central China. Known for centuries as the location of the ancient city of Shimao, the pieces of structural stones were indeed part of a wall, but recent excavation at the site reported in the journal Antiquity and in LiveScience found that the stones were in a wall surrounding an ancient – and quite large — lost city … one that predates the Great Wall by around 1500 years. In fact, while some people were just starting on the Great Wall, the residents of Shimao had already completed a 70-meter (230 foot) step pyramid. Why did the Wall survive while Shimao did not?

“In the outer gateway of the eastern gate on the outer rampart alone, six pits containing decapitated human heads have been found.”

A team of archaeologists led by Li Jaang, a professor at the School of History at Zhengzhou University, found evidence that a city whose unknown name predate Shimao was located at the site and the surrounding area of almost 1000 acres. Built 4,300 years ago, it would have been one of the largest cities on the world at some point during its 500 year existence. The walls surrounding the city were unusual in that they were made with stone rather than just compressed mounds of dirt and contained pieces of jade between the stones. The walls appeared to be high enough and strong enough to protect the large city from invaders and keep some residents from wandering off … or escaping. Why would they do that?

“Morphological analysis of the human remains suggests that the victims may have been related to the residents of Zhukaigou, which could further suggest that they were taken to Shimao as captives during the expansion of the Shimao polity.”

While the structures of Shimao, especially the palaces and the pyramid, are elaborately designed and decorated with carved jade stones and murals from skilled local craft workers, historians also point out that the citizens were known to the surrounding area as “barbarians.” The size of the city indicates its power over the area and the pyramid is evidence of its religious significance for a culture that practiced extensive human sacrifice.

What caused the downfall of this large and seemingly powerful walled city and religious center at a time when the Great Wall was being built to protect everyone else? That’s still open for further research.

Is this a history-changing discovery? Not yet. What it proves once again is that practicing human sacrifice doesn’t seem to allow cities to survive.

That’s an historical lesson still worth remembering.

US Air Force's Mysterious X-37B Plane Spotted Above Netherlands (PHOTOS)

According to Langbroek, the aircraft was in very low orbit, flying at an altitude between 193 and 202 miles. "Basically, only one type of object fits this: X-37B. Previous X-37B missions we tracked also orbited at such very low altitudes. The object also has a similar brightness to previous OTV missions," he said.

The Air Force's miniature space plane, which is also known as the Orbital Test Vehicle-5, was launched into orbit atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on September 7, 2017, from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

​At the request of the US Air Force, SpaceX only aired the first few minutes of the shuttle's liftoff before cutting off the feed. The launch also broke new ground, as it was first time that an OTV was sent into orbit by a rocket provider that wasn't the United Launch Alliance.

With X-37B just two weeks shy of marking its one-year anniversary in orbit, officials have indicated that the latest mission will likely continue the trend of outlasting previous flight times, according to Space Flight Insider. OTV-1 spent 224 days in space; OTV-2, 468 days; OTV-3, 675 days; and OTV-4, 718 days.

Fifth Launch Date for Secretive USAF X-37B Space Plane Revealed by Pentagon

Per the Insider, when OTV-5 does wrap up its mission, it's likely to land at the Shuttle Landing Facility at Florida's Kennedy Space Center. It added that despite the military's attempts to keep mum on the purpose of the project, information has leaked out, revealing that hardware stowed inside the vehicle was developed in order to test "a thermal management system optimized for the space environment."

The US Air Force is known to have two OTVs, both which were built by Boeing. According to Space.com, both vehicles measure in at 29 feet long and 9.6 feet tall, with a payload bay roughly the size of a pickup truck bed.

Eerder dit jaar werd uit wetenschappelijk onderzoek bekend dat de octopus waarschijnlijk een buitenaardse oorsprong heeft. 

Hoe intelligent deze dieren zijn, bleek ook weer eens toen een gestrande octopus werd gered door een voorbijganger. 

Wanneer je naar een octopus kijkt dan zie je een wezen dat er vreemd uitziet en in niets lijkt op welk ander dier op deze planeet. 

Een nieuw wetenschappelijk onderzoek stelt dat de octopus miljoenen jaren geleden als een bevroren ei naar de aarde is gekomen door middel van kometen. (Redactie: Dat lijkt de standaard verklaring voor fenomenen die niet te verklaren zijn voor wetenschappers.) 

Het onderzoek is uitgevoerd door 33 wetenschappers die de resultaten hebben gepubliceerd in het zogenaamde peer-reviewed journal Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology. 

Zij komen tot de conclusie dat leven hier op aarde is ontstaan door wat zij noemen “levendragende” kometen. Dit gebeurde op een moment dat de atmosfeer op aarde geschikt was om leven te kunnen herbergen en dat was zo’n 270 miljoen jaar geleden, volgens hen. 

Een van de levensvormen die zo van buiten de aarde op onze planeet terecht is gekomen, zou de octopus zijn, een dier met 3 harten, 9 stel hersenen en blauw bloed. 

Met dit in het achterhoofd is het volgende verhaal helemaal niet zo vreemd. Het vertelt dat het voorval plaatsvond op het strand in Portugal, maar als je zoekt op de naam Cyrene Beach dat wordt genoemd, kom je uit bij een Egyptische badplaats aan de Rode Zee. 

Het artikel is van enkele dagen geleden, maar na het zoeken van de originele opname blijkt het voorval al vijf jaar geleden te hebben plaatsgevonden. Desalniettemin is het een prachtig voorbeeld van intelligentie bij dieren en in dit geval de octopus. 

De man, Pei Yan Hang, loopt op het strand en ziet daar een kleine octopus, niet in staat om de zee weer te bereiken en die wachtte op een zekere dood. 

De man liep gelukkig niet door, maar gebruikte een plastic kop om de kleine octopus voorzichtig op te pakken en weer los te laten bij het water. 

Wat er dan gebeurt is te zien in de volgende video en het is niet voor niets deze video inmiddels bijna 12 miljoen keer is bekeken.

Video: A UFO flying over the surface of the Moon

A UFO has just been discovered by the Argentine researcher Marcelo Irazusta. The image belongs to NASA and its public on Google Moon.

You can clearly see an object that is flying and casting its shadow on the surface of the Moon.

‘Water is the oil of space’

Astrobiologist lays out undersea scenario for intelligent life on alien water worlds

Instead of cave dwellers gathered around a campfire, roasting mastodon meat, imagine an octopus tribe floating around a hydrothermal vent at the seafloor, boiling lobsters.

That’s the scenario sketched out by Dirk Schulze-Makuch, an astrobiologist at Germany’s Technical Institute Berlin who’s also an adjunct professor at Arizona State University and Washington State University.

In an essay published today on Smithsonian Air and Space magazine’s website, Schulze-Makuch notes that a fair number of potentially habitable planets could have surfaces completely covered by oceans. Could life arise on such planets? And if so, how technologically advanced could such species become?

Earth’s oceans provide an example in the form of cephalopods. Octopuses and squid are thought to have evolved strictly in the oceans, in contrast to dolphins and whales, which spent part of their evolutionary history on land. Octopuses are also arguably tool users, based on what they can do with coconut shells.

Under the right conditions, could such water-dwelling creatures develop technology on an alien water world? That may be more challenging than it was for our forebears, Schulze-Makuch says.

“Fire can’t exist underwater, and fire is thought to have been essential for humans to develop technology,” Schulze-Makuch notes. However, there’s one potential avenue that he and co-author William Bains explore in their book, “The Cosmic Zoo: Complex Life on Many Worlds.”

“Perhaps smart ocean creatures could use thermal vents on an alien planet’s seafloor to supply concentrated heat energy,” Schulze-Makuch says. “Such energy wouldn’t be as portable or controllable as fire, but the underwater civilization could farm fish without fire, or perhaps use other resources to make tools and technology. As an example, long strands of kelp could be ideal for making rope.”

The prospect of finding life on water worlds isn’t merely a matter for science-fiction speculation: Astrobiologists suspect that hydrothermal activity could support life within the hidden oceans of Europa and Enceladus, ice-covered moons that orbit Jupiter and Saturn.

Who knows? Perhaps future missions such as NASA’s Europa Clipper could detect the waste ejected by life forms beneath the ice — just as future alien archaeologists will be able to tell we existed after we’re gone, based on the plastic waste we’re leaving behind in Earth’s oceans.

Black Knight PROOF? UFOs on ISS feed 'could be mystery alien satellite'

ALIEN hunters claim these two mysterious objects captured by the space station camera could be the Black Knight.

Live footage from the International Space Station (ISS) appeared to show the apparent structures speed up and change shape.

And conspiracy theorists are convinced the clip shows the Black Knight, a hypothersised extra terrestrial satellite.

The ISS, an artificial satellite in low Earth orbit launched in 1998, is a space research laboratory in which crew members from various nations experiment in areas such biology, physics and astronomy.

Previously, it is claimed the ISS live feed has been cut off  when strange or unexplained objects have appeared in view.

However in this instance the two seemingly metallic objects are caught on camera for seven minutes before the camera cuts out.

One YouTube commentator said: “At first I thought lens flare or dust on the lens, but after four minutes they looked more and more like solid 3D objects.

Another said: “Looks to me these flares clearly have structure.

Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera could make intergalactic history this fall. If she wins Tuesday’s primary in Florida she would be in position to become the first person elected to Congress who says she was once abducted by aliens.

That possibility has given immense pleasure to one of Washington D.C.’s most peculiar lobbying shops: the Paradigm Research Group, which advocates for discussing and unveiling “facts surrounding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.”

“This is a milestone,” Stephen Bassett, executive director of the group, said of Aguilera’s candidacy.  “If she were to win the election, she would be the first open contactee to serve in Congress.”

Aguilera, a Republican, is running in Florida’s 27th Congressional District, a Miami-area seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. She is not a fringe figure. The Miami Herald endorsed her candidacy recently. But even in doing so, they acknowledged she is a bit “unusual.”

That’s because Aguilera has asserted that as a child, she was taken aboard a UFO by aliens who looked like the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil. In a series of YouTube videos, Aguilera said the aliens told her “God is a universal energy, not a person,” that the center of the world’s energy is in Africa and that thousands of non-human skulls were discovered in a cave on Malta.

“I stick to my guns when I believe in something,” she told the Associated Press in a recent interview, also claiming that she has been communicating with the extra-terrestrials telepathically after the abduction.

Now a business consultant, Aguilera said she doesn’t want to be defined by the happenstances she said occurred when she was just seven years old. “It has nothing to do with what I have done,” she told the AP.

But for Bassett, this is not a topic from which to shy away. Instead, it represents a watershed moment and the culmination of the work done by his group, which was founded in 1996. He said that Aguilera is part of a larger story about the ultimate lifting of the “truth embargo,” during which time the government will reveal what it has hidden about extraterrestrials. The problem, for now at least, is that everyone is too preoccupied with the ongoing scandals of the White House to pay attention.

“The biggest story in human history is taking place right now, the ultimate end of the truth embargo,” Bassett said. “The Trump hurricane is simply sucking everything up.”

Despite the chance to achieve fuller enlightenment about the scope of our universe —or, at least, the occupants within it—Bassett is, for now, playing it cool. There are no plans to campaign with Aguilera, he said, lest it backfire.

“I don’t want to make anything more difficult for her,” he explained. “It’s one of those things in retrospect that will be seen as a big deal but in the current moment not a big deal"

The figures, released under the Official Information Act, show that across New Zealand the public have contacted the agency and recorded seeing a range of unexplained objects. 

The data, which spans from 2000 to 2017, records 30 sightings of UFOs reported to the CAA.

Some of the sightings include reports of a silent object flying through the skies near Cambridge in 2012 and a white circular object near Titirangi, Auckland, in 2014.

Aliens and spaceships are usually confined to the world of conspiracy theories, but former Pentagon analyst Dr Paul Buchanan said it wasn't silly for governments to record UFO data. 

It was less about making contact with intelligent life, and more about states protecting and monitoring the space above them. 

"The race for space is full on. The hard fact of the matter is space will be militarised within the next 20 years. No treaties are going to stop that. That is why Trump has thought up the Space Force idea.

"From time to time we get a Chinese signals boat coming into Auckland to replenish. It is basically a spy ship. It's cover though is it's a satellite ship for the Chinese space fleet." 

The New Zealand Defence Force told Stuff they do not investigate sightings of UFOs, and all potential sightings reported to NZDF were handed to New Zealand Police or the CAA to investigate. 

However, in the briefing to the incoming minister Ron Mark, the NZDF stated there were increasing threats to New Zealand from space due to geopolitical reasons.

Aliens have long been the fodder of conspiracy theories and sci-fi movies. However, both the U.S and China have invested money into searching for intelligent life.

"New Zealand is becoming increasingly reliant on access to space-based systems and infrastructure such as satellites. At the same time, threats to these systems have been increasing." 

Due to its agreement with the Five Eyes alliance, New Zealand relies heavily on the other partners when it comes to satellite technology, Buchanan said.  

"We can rely on the space-based assets of our partners, by and large, for all strategic intelligence we get in New Zealand... For the moment, we don't need a space fleet." 

And while the New Zealand government didn't spend resources looking into reported UFO sightings, other states were, Buchanan said. 

The Pentagon confirmed last year that there was a US$22 million (NZ $31.4m) government programme to collect and analyse "anomalous aerospace threats" between 2007 and 2012. 

The agency, called Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, was classified and predominantly created to research the possibility of extra terrestrial life.

Dr Paul Buchanan believes the race to arm space is on.

More recently, President Donald Trump announced his hope for a Space Force - a sixth arm of the US defence forces which would, in part, focus on space warfare. 

Meanwhile in Asia, Beijing has poured billions into building a huge dish to search for signals from stars, galaxies and perhaps extraterrestrial life. Measuring 500 metres in diameter, the radio telescope is nestled within the southern Guizhou province.

"Any strategic forecasting centres will think if an adversary gets first contact then they can form alliance with extraterrestrial beings against one's own country," Buchanan said.

"Let's say the Chinese or Russians establish contact, tell them the Five Eyes are evil doers and need to be destroyed. That would be of concern." 

However, those worried that aliens will soon take over the town square in Havelock North or run amok in Dargarville don't need to, Buchanan said. 

"I still have friends in [the intelligence] community and let's just say they are are extremely concerned about Earthly things. It may be a while off. ​

Florida’s primary is coming up one week from today and the race for the GOP nomination in the 27th district has taken an interesting turn. There are a number of viable candidates in the field and the GOP has held the seat for decades. (The demographics have been shifting of late, however, so the race is seen as being more competitive.) The Miami Herald released their editorial endorsements for each party this weekend. They selected newcomer David Richardson for the Democrats, a seemingly safe choice. But on the Republican side, they picked Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera.

Rodriguez Aguilera also looks like a solid pick at first glance, having experience as a county legislator, a business consultant and a campaign trainer for female candidates. But the Herald was also quick to point out that she’s an “unusual” candidate in that she claims to not only believe in extraterrestrials but to have been abducted by them and taken aboard a spaceship as a child. The Editorial Board was most impressed by Rodriguez Aguilera, now a business consultant.

We realize that Rodriguez Aguilera is an unusual candidate. Last year, she told the Miami Herald — and several Spanish-language media outlets — that she believes in extra-terrestrials. She says when she was 7, she was taken aboard a spaceship and, throughout her life, she has communicated telepathically with the beings, which remind her of the concrete Christ in Brazil. There you have it.

“This is a non-issue,” she told the Board. We agree. Her bona fides as a former elected official, and now a businesswoman who spends time in other countries training women to run for office are solid.

Rodriguez Aguilera is a strong candidate in the race with plausible conservative ideas. The daughter of a Cuban political prisoner, Rodriguez Aguilera became an activist, volunteering with the Cuban American National Foundation. She said that she was coached by its former leader, Jorge Mas Canosa, who taught her that, “If you don’t have a solution to a problem, don’t raise your hand to complain.”

The Hill has some additional details of the candidate’s testimony regarding her experience with the aliens. From her description, they sound like the “Nordics” which show up in many abductees’ stories rather than the more common “Grays.”

“I went in. There were some round seats that were there, and some quartz rocks that controlled the ship — not like airplanes,” Rodriguez said in the interview. She said she was visited by three large, blonde beings.

In a separate interview with the Herald last year, she said she joins “the majority of Americans who believe that there must be intelligent life in the billions of planets and galaxies in the universe.”

In some ways, it seems nice that the Miami Herald would write off Rodriguez Aguilera’s extraterrestrial experiences as a non-issue and focus on her qualifications and experience. And it’s certainly true that a significant number of Americans believe in the possibility of technologically advanced alien beings visiting the Earth. (Those numbers may have gone up a bit after the government recently released some footage of our Navy pilots chasing what certainly looked like a UFO of some sort.) So if that’s what she believes, why hold it against her?

But at the same time I find myself suspicious of the motives of the editorial board at the Herald. Are they really putting their weight behind Rodriguez Aguilera in the primary because they think she’s the best candidate? Or do they want the GOP to nominate someone who can readily be painted as a kook so they can help flip that seat from red to blue?

Maybe I’m being a bit too suspicious here. Discussions of extraterrestrial phenomena have certainly become more mainstream of late. But I’d still put my money on the newspaper trying to pull a fast one.

Alien Rave? Michigan Man Spots Mystery UFO Putting on Light Show (VIDEO)

Ancient Bottle Found On Mars Near @NASA Rover, Aug 2018, UFO Sighting News

Looking though the gigapan Mars photos, I found something that closely resembles an ancient clay bottle. Its very similar to this 2,000 year old Roman bottle which I include into the photo for you to compare. Again I am showing you a NASA Mars photo which has been altered by NASA into a False Color...which makes the surface look red and brown. But in reality, Mars surface looks more similar to a desert on Earth. NASA adds False Color to hide from the public the fact that Mars is more hospitable than they want you to know. This way, there is no other country racing to Mars and NASA will have no competition...which gives them a lot of time to get there.

Sounds fun and probably worried NASA a lot since these mini satellites are also delicate and easily broke. Truly an amazing photo of a historic and important event in human history.

Two Giant UFO Hover Over Florida Beach Area, Aug 2018, 2 Videos, UFO Sighting News.

Now these UFOs have been seen before. I remember seeing similar UFOs in a Steven Greer (Renowned UFO researcher) video from 2015. This is a different time and different instance, however these are 100% the same UFOs at the same location. I will include the video during sunset at the bottom of this post. 

You can see there are no boats or ships in the area. There are no planes, jets or helicopters heard or in the area. No flares...there is no logical explanation for this sighting. However if you do research, you will find Steven Greers video from 2015 is the exact same location watching the same exact UFOs. 

Its obvious that 4-6 miles off the coast of Florida lays an underwater alien base where UFOs enter and leave at about 5-7pm, since both sightings took place around sunset. Amazing discovery and we need to explore this area with underwater recording technology so that we can find the exact location of this base.

A group of UFO hunters has claimed that the US dollar bills are hiding an alien overlord’s picture.

They discovered an image depicting the face of the space alien rulers of Planet Earth on the same side of the banknotes showing the infamous pyramid.

They believe that extraterrestrials have placed hidden messages in the currency. Adding contrast (shadow) to the original will turn it into the alien head, they explained.

They point out the visible letters MERICA at the top, saying that it may mean Me Rica, the name of a particular alien overlord.

Modern secular researchers are getting closer to the truth

As a young man (non-believer), I loved watching science fictionand its portrayal of older, more advanced extraterrestrials (ETs) inhabiting other worlds and warping around the galaxy in their hyperdrive spaceships. However, when I became a Christian and biblical creationist, the strong evolutionary link to the belief in ETsbecame obvious. Then there was the claim that millions of people (including many Christians) have seen strange objects manifest in the sky, and others even claimed to have been abducted by aliens. Besides the fact that interstellar travel is impossible as the basic laws of physics that govern our universe would have to be violated, I already knew enough to know that these experiences could not all be dismissed as wishful thinking or psychological delusions. In short, something was really happening to these people. So, I undertook specialist research into what is called the ‘UFO phenomenon’ which led to my Amazon top 50 best-selling book Alien Intrusion: UFOs and the Evolution Connection and dozens of further articles on creation.com.

I got more than I bargained for. This was no innocuous field of study. It was necessary for me to attend UFO conferences where I witnessed, first-hand, people in trance-like states claiming to be ‘channelling’messages from aliens. I discovered deliberate and insidious attempts by dark spiritual forces to deceive mankind. Just like people who were converted to Christianity, these ‘experiencers’ were having life-changing experiences that altered their perception of the universe and their place in it. Of course, most non-Christians would say that I was constrained by my Christian worldview to interpret events in such a way. Many have said that Alien Intrusion: UFOs and the Evolution Connection is not really a ‘Christian’ book in the sense that it is a serious, close look at the UFO events that have shaped the mainstream school of thought about the UFO phenomenon. It revealed that there are massive inconsistencies in the idea that alleged wiser and benevolent ETs are coming from a ‘galaxy far, far away’, and are overseeing human evolution (a common theme).

The book was really a collation of secular research (using the hostile witness approach) to support the above conclusion. I.e. it wasn’t just little ‘Joe Christian’ here saying “believe me”. For example, paranormal and UFO researcher John Keel (deceased/cited later) who is probably best-known as the author of the book The Mothman Prophecies (later made into a movie starring Richard Gere) said:

“The UFOs do not seem to exist as tangible, manufactured objects. They do not conform to the natural laws of our environment. They seem to be nothing more than transmogrifications tailoring themselves to our abilities to understand. The thousands of contacts with the entities indicate that they are liars and put-on artists. The UFO manifestations seem to be, by and large, merely minor variations of the age-old demonological phenomenon.”¹ 

One of the most famous UFO researchers (and UFO authors) of all time is Ph.D. scientist Dr Jacques Vallée. It was the research of both Vallée and Dr J. Allen Hynek (former US Government researcher into UFOs) that inspired Hollywood director Steven Spielberg to make the classic movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Indeed, the lead UFO researcher in the movie was a Frenchman and was actually based upon Dr Vallée. As far back as 1977, he wrote:

“I propose the hypothesis that there is a control system for human consciousness … I am suggesting that what takes place through close encounters with UFOs is control of human beliefs, control of the relationship between our consciousness and physical reality, that this control has been in force throughout history and that it is of secondary importance that it should now assume the form of sightings of space visitors.”²

He also concluded that:

“ … human belief … is being controlled and conditioned, man’s concepts are being rearranged, and we may be headed toward a massive change of human attitudes toward paranormal abilities and extraterrestrial life.”³

This all sounds very much like 2 Thessalonians 2:9–12.

“The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

The modern UFOlogist

Vallée and even Keel showed that ETs were actually nothing of the sort and that it was some kind of ‘psychic’ force that would alter its appearance depending upon its audience’s ability to understand. In the past they were elves, fairies and even spirit beings manifesting themselves to third-world cultures. However, to the ‘true believer’ who really desires there to be benevolent aliens visiting us from different star systems, then perhaps they are interdimensional and not really from our own physical universe. Speculative ideas about the evolution of the cosmos such as string theory and multiverse have only accelerated this idea. In fact, Dr Vallée became disenchanted somewhat with modern UFOlogy believing that it had been hijacked by a religious group of New Agers and that serious research had suffered as a result. I agree.

In concluding that the phenomenon has psychic/spiritual aspects, both Dr Vallée and I might have a new, modern and surprising, ally to our beliefs about the deceptive nature of ETs. One of the most famous of the current crop of UFOlogist is Nick Redfern, a British born author and UFO investigator and conspiracy theorist who has been an advocate of the Disclosure Project for many years. He has written 13 books and numerous articles for various publications, and is a regular guest on The History Channel shows such as UFO Hunters. In an online article he recently wrote:

“ … my views on the nature of the UFO phenomenon have radically changed over the years. Back when I was in my twenties, I was of the opinion that UFOs (the truly unknown ones) were extraterrestrial … As I slid into my thirties, however, my thoughts slowly began to change (something which also happened for a few friends of mine in the field, too). And as many people will also know, my views—today—are far closer to those suggested by John Keel. Namely, that we’re dealing with something that co-exists with us and which masquerades as ET. It’s not enough for me to say ‘My views have changed.’ There are the reasons why my mind has altered since my early thirties (or thereabouts). And, there are several reasons, rather than just one.

“There’s the nature of the entities themselves: they practically overemphasize who, or what, they claim to be. We only have to take a careful look at such cases … to see that these ‘incidents’ are clearly stage-managed. It’s a game, a scenario that has <e…< em="">everything to do with trying to emphasize the ET meme … . Of course, they could easily avoid us! But, here’s the deal: they want to be seen. It’s not an accident. It’s carefully planned. And it’s designed to plant an image of ‘ET scientists’ in the mind(s) of the witness(es).”⁴

Parallel realities

His thoughts are almost so identical to my book that my heart races as I read his views. He is so close to the truth. I had always highlighted the inconsistency that our ‘alien creators’ couldn’t get their stories straight about where they were from. Once they were from planets in our own solar system, but we’ve visited those planets and shown them to be liars. Now they come from distant star systems where we cannot test their claims. In short, they can’t all be our creators and therefore they cannot all be correct! Redfern now sees it too.

“It’s much the same with the way in which—in both Contactee and Abductee cases—the aliens aren’t just keen to tell us which planet, star-system, or galaxy, they’re from. They’re more than a bit too keen to do so. Once it was Venus and Mars. Then, it was Zeta Reticuli. Or is it the Pleiades? The problem is not so much where they claim to come from. Rather, it’s their eager insistence on letting us know where they’re from—and time and again. There’s another issue, too. Over the decades, we have allegedly been visited by long-haired Space Brothers, stacked Space-Babes, black-eyed and large-headed dwarfs, bipedal reptiles, praying mantis-type creatures, and … well … the list goes on and on. But, they all seem perfectly comfortable with the Earth’s gravity, temperature, oxygen levels, etc. Doesn’t that strike you as a bit odd?”

 

The last point about being compatible with Earth’s atmosphere was another inconsistency that I’d highlighted. He continues to reinforce my own findings:

“They’re not at all unlike multiple accounts that one can find in numerous religions. In fact, they’re near-identical. Lives are radically changed, and people find themselves on new paths. Gods, angels, demons, the ‘little people,’ and—today—aliens: it’s all one and the same. A force that we presently don’t understand and which impacts upon us—and manifests before us—in a fashion that is relevant to the people of the particular era in question.

Often creationists get accused of not coming up with original research. Here is one example where the secular researchers (if they choose to be honest with their findings as Mr Redfern has done) are coming to the same conclusions. It’s also a wonderful confirmation that once again using the Bible as our filter we can help dissect and discern one of the most puzzling mysteries of the modern era and show it for what it really is. My interview with another former New Age UFO researcher and MUFON investigator showed he also found the Bible was the only thing that could adequately explain the phenomenon.

I applaud Mr Redfern for his candid views and for his honesty in putting the usual reinforcement syndrome to one side and, potential books sales, to speak the truth about his findings. Nothing Is Solid & Everything Is Energy – Scientists Explain The World of Quantum Physics

It has been written about before, over and over again, but cannot be emphasized enough. The world of quantum physics is an eerie one, one that sheds light on the truth about our world in ways that challenge the existing framework of accepted knowledge.

What we perceive as our physical material world, is really not physical or material at all, in fact, it is far from it. This has been proven time and time again by multiple Nobel Prize (among many other scientists around the world) winning physicists, one of them being Niels Bohr, a Danish Physicist who made significant contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory.

 At the turn of the nineteenth century, physicists started to explore the relationship between energy and the structure of matter. In doing so, the belief that a physical, Newtonian material universe that was at the very heart of scientific knowing was dropped, and the realization that matter is nothing but an illusion replaced it. Scientists began to recognize that everything in the Universe is made out of energy.

Quantum physicists discovered that physical atoms are made up of vortices of energy that are constantly spinning and vibrating, each one radiating its own unique energy signature. Therefore, if we really want to observe ourselves and find out what we are, we are really beings of energy and vibration, radiating our own unique energy signature -this is fact and is what quantum physics has shown us time and time again. We are much more than what we perceive ourselves to be, and it’s time we begin to see ourselves in that light. If you observed the composition of an atom with a microscope you would see a small, invisible tornado-like vortex, with a number of infinitely small energy vortices called quarks and photons. These are what make up the structure of the atom. As you focused in closer and closer on the structure of the atom, you would see nothing, you would observe a physical void. The atom has no physical structure, we have no physical structure, physical things really don’t have any physical structure! Atoms are made out of invisible energy, not tangible matter.

The Role of Consciousness in Quantum Mechanics

What does it mean that our physical material reality isn’t really physical at all? It could mean a number of things, and concepts such as this cannot be explored if scientists remain within the boundaries of the only perceived world existing, the world we see. As Nikola Tesla supposedly said:

“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.” 

Fortunately, many scientists have already taken the leap, and have already questioned the meaning and implications of what we’ve discovered with quantum physics. One of these potential revelations is that “the observer creates the reality.”

A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality. Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction. Pioneering physicist Sir James Jeans wrote: “The stream of knowledge is heading toward a non-mechanical reality; the universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter, we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter.

One great example that illustrates the role of consciousness within the physical material world (which we know not to be so physical) is the double slit experiment. This experiment has been used multiple times to explore the role of consciousness in shaping the nature of physical reality. (2)

A double-slit optical system was used to test the possible role of consciousness in the collapse of the quantum wave-function. The ratio of the interference pattern’s double-slit spectral power to its single-slit spectral power was predicted to decrease when attention was focused toward the double-slit as compared to away from it. The study found that factors associated with consciousness, such as meditation, experience, electrocortical markers of focused attention and psychological factors such as openness and absorption, significantly correlated in predicted ways with perturbations in the double-slit interference pattern.(2)

Studies have shown that positive emotions and operating from a place of peace within oneself can lead to a very different experience for the person emitting those emotions and for those around them. At our subatomic level, does the vibrational frequency change the manifestation of physical reality? If so, in what way? We know that when an atom changes its state, it absorbs or emits electromagnetic frequencies, which are responsible for changing its state.  Do different states of emotion, perception and feelings result in different electromagnetic frequencies? A Nasa spacecraft that will land on an asteroid and take a sample has just glimpsed its target

The asteroid named Bennu is about the size of a mountain.

TWO YEARS AFTER launching from Florida, a Nasa spacecraft is closing in on an ancient asteroid, Bennu, for a sample of space dust that could reveal clues to the start of life in the solar system.

The spacecraft, OSIRIS-REx, has even snapped its first, blurry pic of the cosmic body, which is about the size of a small mountain, about 500 metres in diameter.

The spacecraft is designed to circle Bennu, and reach out with a robotic arm to “high-five” its surface, then return the sample it collects to Earth in 2023.

The first images of Bennu were taken on 17 August at a distance of 2.3 million kilometers from the $800 million spacecraft.

“This is the closest we have even been to Bennu,” said Dante Lauretta, OSIRIS-REx principal investigator at the University of Arizona, Tucson.

“This is significant in that we are now in the vicinity of the asteroid, closer than we have ever been even during the close approaches of the asteroid to the Earth.”

Bennu was chosen from the some 500,000 asteroids in the solar system because it orbits close to Earth’s path around the sun, it is the right size for scientific study, and is one of the oldest asteroids known to Nasa.

Astronomers say it poses a slight risk — a one in 2,700 chance — of colliding with Earth in 2135.

It is also a carbon-rich asteroid, the kind of cosmic body that may have delivered life-giving materials to Earth billions of years ago.

The OSIRIS-REx mission is not the first to ever visit an asteroid and attempt a sample return — Japan has done it before and Europe has managed to land on a comet.

But it is the first asteroid-sample-return mission for Nasa, and it aims to bring back the biggest sample ever, on the order of 60 g.

The US men who walked on the Moon during the Apollo era of the 1960s and 1970s collected and carried back to Earth 382 kg of moon rocks.

In December, the spacecraft will begin a detailed survey of asteroid’s surface, which NASA has defined as “arrival” at the asteroid.

Orbital insertion is expected on 31 December. The sample, however, will not be taken until July 2020.

UFO SPOTTED in Buckingham and Oxfordshire as strange 'BLUE EYES' travel across night sky

STRANGE blue lights moving through the night sky have been spotted by residents in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire as some onlookers describe seeing a UFO.

The unusual UFO lights were spotted across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire

Late last night concerned residents expressed their disbelief on social media as they reported seeing an unusual light that looked “like a pair of eyes”.

James Lidington, who saw the bizarre occurrence from Princes Risborough, told Express.co.uk: “I first notice them at around 11pm, and they lasted around 2 mins before dispersing.

STRANGE blue lights moving through the night sky have been spotted by residents in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire as some onlookers describe seeing a UFO.

“The lights were very large and shaped like a pair of eyes looking down at you.

“It moved across the sky, we only lost sight of it as it disappeared out of sight.

“It was very strange to see, I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

Sightings of the blue lights were seen across the county and were spotted by multiple people.

The lights were also photographed by residents of Bicester in Oxfordshire.

Mr Lidington continued: “It looked like maybe someone had a bright light on, like a flood light but it got brighter and moved across the sky, right over us before vanishing out of sight.

“You read and hear story about people seeing what they think is aliens.

“This was very like those stories, making it feel like it could be aliens or some night creature watching above us.”

Another onlooker described a “blue sky” on Twitter.

The strange sighting is one of several sightings of off activity in the skies over the past few months.

In November residents in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg were left perplexed as they claimed to have seen an alien spaceship.

An unidentified object was caught on camera in the early hours of Monday morning and fell near the southern outskirts of the city near the local EXPO exhibition centre and Koltsovo airport.

Despite the video evidence of the incident taking place, the Russian Emergency Ministry's branch in the country's Sverdlovsk region has said there were no reports of any such events taking place.

The local airport also failed to see the green light.

Massive Pyramid, Lost City and Ancient Human Sacrifices Unearthed in China

The pyramid contains 11 steps, each of which was lined with stone. On the topmost step, there "were extensive palaces built of rammed earth, with wooden pillars and roofing tiles, a gigantic water reservoir, and domestic remains related to daily life," the researchers wrote.

The city's rulers lived in these palaces, and art and craft production were carried out nearby. "Evidence so far suggests that the stepped pyramid complex functioned not only as a residential space for ruling Shimao elites, but also as a space for artisanal or industrial craft production," the archaeologists wrote.

A series of stone walls with ramparts and gates was built around the pyramid and the city. "At the entrance to the stepped pyramid were sophisticated bulwarks [defensive walls] whose design suggests that they were intended to provide both defense and highly restricted access," the archaeologists wrote.

The remains of numerous human sacrifices have been discovered at Shimao. "In the outer gateway of the eastern gate on the outer rampart alone, six pits containing decapitated human heads have been found," the archaeologists wrote.

China's Sending a Probe to the Moon's Far Side. Here's Where It Will Land

The 115-mile-wide (186 kilometers) Von Kármán Crater lies in the northwestern SPA basin. The topography of the landing region is generally flat.

Secondary craters and ejecta materials cover most of the area's mare (volcanic basalt) unit and can be traced back to at least four source craters: Finsen, Von Kármán L, Von Kármán L' and Antoniadi. The region also features extensive sinuous ridges and troughs.

New information

China 1st to Send Mission to Dark Side of the Moon

A recent paper, led by Jun Huang of the School of Earth Sciences at the China University of Geosciences in Wuhan, lays out some key characteristics of Chang'e 4's targeted landing zone. 

The study presents a detailed 3D geological analysis of the nature and history of the Von Kármán Crater. The researchers found that the region contains far-side mare basalts affected by linear features and ejecta material from a wide range of surrounding craters.

The results provide a framework for the Chang'e 4 mission to carry out on-the-spot exploration, the scientists wrote in the study, which was published in May in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets.

Relay satellite

Already in place for the upcoming mission is the Chinese relay satellite Queqiao. It will enable communications between mission control here on Earth and Chang'e 4, as well as future far-side missions.

Queqiao lifted off in May atop a Long March 4C rocket from China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The relay spacecraft has made its way to a halo orbit around the Earth-Moon Lagrange Point 2, a gravitationally stable spot beyond the far side of the moon.

Lander, rover instruments

The Chang'e 4 lander and rover were designed as backups for the successful Chang'e 3 mission, which launched in December 2013 and landed the rover Yutu on the lunar surface. So, some of the science payloads on Chang'e 4 are similar to those of its predecessor, such as a landing camera, a terrain camera, a panoramic camera on the lander and a visible/near-infrared imaging spectrometer, along with two ground-penetrating radars able to reveal the subsurface structure of the landing area.

Additional instruments on the lander are a low-frequency radio spectrometer, which will perform joint space-physics observations with the low-frequency radio spectrometer on the Queqiao relay satellite. [China's Yutu Rover Moon Mission in Photos]

Also onboard Chang'e 4 is a German lunar neutron and radiation dose detector to explore the surface radiation environment of the far side.

A new instrument on the rover is the Swedish neutral atom detector designed to study the interaction between the solar wind and lunar surface materials.

This Asteroid Poses No Risk — Again, No Risk — to Us Earthlings

In one of my recent articles here at Mysterious Universe – titled UFO Encounters, Saucers and Secrets – I highlighted the UFO connection to the U.K.’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), which is the U.K.’s equivalent of the United States’ National Security Agency (NSA). I stated: “Robin Cole, of Cheltenham, England, spent a great deal of time addressing the matter of GCHQ and UFOs. To the extent that, in 1997, he published a report that detailed his extensive research in this seldom-addressed area. Cole cultivated sources from GCHQ, secured data on UFO cases secretly investigated by staff at the agency, and learned that GCHQ had a large library of books on the UFO subject. But, there was more, too. As a result of his investigations, Cole was visited by personnel from the U.K. Police Force’s Special Branch, who wanted to know all about his work, which had him worried or a while. The GCHQ Tempora Program

The fact is, though, that such was the extent of the interview I did with Cole back in the 1990s, I thought I would make this a three-part article, which is exactly what I have done. In my first book, A Covert Agenda, I made mention of a small (but nonetheless intriguing) body of evidence pertaining to the collation and investigation of UFO data on the part of the sprawling Government Communications Headquarters at Cheltenham (GCHQ), England. Although GCHQ actively and forthrightly denies that any such claims have a basis in reality, time and again snippets of information surface, suggesting that behind the official stance there exists an incredible story just waiting to be uncovered.

To illustrate this, on 29 March 1996, two security guards assigned to the facility viewed during the early hours of the morning a silent, brightly lit object that over-flew their heads while they patrolled the base. “We just looked at it,” said one, adding, “We weren’t frightened. We were just amazed.” The other concurred: “I have never seen anything like it before in my life. It was traveling very fast. It definitely was not a plane.” The response from Government Communications Headquarters when the media latched on to what had occurred was tight lipped. “No doubt they did see something but I couldn’t say what it was,” was the carefully worded response from a GCHQ spokesman.

Robin Cole was able to shed further light on the 29 March 1996 UFO encounter reported by two GCHQ security guards. He told me: “Both of the guards were so convinced by what they’d seen that they went to The Citizen – this is the local newspaper that covers the Gloucester area – and reported it. Well, the papers went on to publish their names and the fact that they were security guards at GCHQ. Normally, people who work at the base just say that they’re civil servants, because they don’t want to be associated with GCHQ publicly. Well, we didn’t make too big a deal out of it, but we did try and look into it all a bit deeper. As I previously said, there area number of people within Circular Forum who work at GCHQ. Of course, I tried to press them to find out what they could.”

Cole continued: “It just so happens that one of our members knew one of the security guards and another member used to work at GCHQ as a security guard and knew the other one. They then subsequently invited the two of them around for tea and got on to talking about UFOs – as you do. Basically, both of them stated that when the article in The Citizen appeared, ‘We were both hauled in before our superiors the following morning and we were told that what we had seen was the Mir Space Station, and that we were to drop it unless we wanted to face severe action. You know how it is [at GCHQ]; they’re all paranoid. But we know deep in our hearts that this was not a space station. It was far too low in orbit and it just came over and stopped. It was there for several minutes and was then joined by a second light. The one then seemed to drop down quite low, and as soon as it started dropping, the pair of them just shot off. And we know it wasn’t Mir.’”

“It’s something that’s interested me from way back when in England as a newspaper reporter. And a good friend of mine, Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon, has told me stories of astronauts coming back to Earth reporting UFOs.”

While he was best known for being friends with the rich and famous, Robin Leach, the host for 11 years of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” was also a UFO believer and a friend of paranormal and UFO expert Lee Speigel, who revealed that side of Leach in a Huffington Post article in 2011. Robin Leach, known for his signature sigh-off, “champagne wishes and caviar dreams,” signed off for good on August 24, 2018, at the age of 76.

“Truth be told, Leach and I actually went UFO hunting one rainy night in 1976 up in Maine after hearing stories of many local citizens spotting strange nocturnal lights in the sky.”

Lee Speigel recounted his UFO adventure with Robin Leach while covering a fundraiser for the Keep Memory Alive center in Las Vegas, which raises awareness and funds to support the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Leach was a major fundraiser and a charity auctioneer for the event.

“I haven’t ever really raised the subject with celebrities, probably because they’d think I was weird and mad. But we do know that over the years, everybody from presidents of the United States to major dignitaries around the world, and, certainly, some of our NASA space boys — they have claimed to have seen and photographed unexplained flying objects or phenomena.”

While Robin Leach didn’t broach the UFO subject with celebrities he interviewed on “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” he did interview John Alexander, a retired Army colonel and author of “UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies and Realities”, for Las Vegas Weekly – an interview set up with the help of Speigel. The colonel told Leach about UFO disclosure at the U.S. presidential and world leader level and secrets he’s learned about Roswell and other real and alleged UFO incidents. Needless to say, Leach was characteristically excited.

“I am fascinated with the subject, and you can be certain the next time I run into the retired colonel, we’ll share a glass of fine champagne and maybe a little caviar and talk a little more about the phenomena.”

Robin Leach had reportedly been hospitalized since November when he suffered a stroke in the Mexican resort city of Cabo San Lucas. Tributes are already pouring in from around the world from the rich and famous who knew him. Did he also get a message from space? After what would be his last conversation with Leach, Lee Speigel said Robin wished for this:

“Maybe for my eventual bucket list, we should try for one more UFO encounter trip!”

At the bottom of the Pacific deep sea, a diving robot has discovered a series of mysterious tracks that cannot be explained geologically.

For this reason, marine biologists now assume that the patterns originate from large organisms. But no known marine animal seems to be the right explanation.

As the team around Leigh Marsh of the National Oceanography Centre of the University of Southampton recently reported in the journal "Royal Society Open Science", the impressions are in the Pacific Clarion-Clipperton zone between Mexico and Hawaii, according to grenswissenschaft-aktuell.

The exploratory diving robot came across more than 3,500 of the impressions in the ground, which averaged almost 2.5 meters long and were around 13 centimeters deep.

The sonar images show that these impressions are also not randomly distributed and form slightly curvy traces, as the researchers around Marsh "already remind us of a series of footprints". Although the impressions seem to be of different ages, they seem to be traces of more recent times.

While there is no known geological process that can explain these traces, the researchers suspect that they are the impressions of an organism.

The problem: The traces in the clay sediment can be found at a depth of around 4,000 meters and thus in a zone in which there should be no living creatures that can leave such large impressions.

Watching this video I noticed the UFO has a rectangle shape. I darkened the screenshots to make it stand out more. The UFO passed by quickly and was only visible for a few seconds, but that was enough. Its speed, its shape and its angle of trajectory all point to this craft being an alien ship. Because a UFO is air tight in space, they can also work under water, and this craft probably came from an underwater alien base nearby. Since water covers 75% of the Earths surface and few humans are on the ocean...UFO traffic is probably higher there.

Vast 3,000-Year-Old Underground Tunnels And Bodies Discovered At Ancient Aztec Temple

Old technology and new came together recently at a Peruvian Aztec temple when centuries-old archaeology combined with 21st-century robotics.

The footage was revealed showing underground tunnels said to be 3,000 years old with bodies inside them after people were sacrificed following ancient rituals.

Archaeology Meets 21st Century Technology to Find Bodies in Tunnel

The archaeologists unearthed the tunnels at the temple in the Andean area of Peru in Ancash, by managing to crawl along with inch their way through small passageways so they could gain access to the site. The team of archaeologists discovered a maze situated in underground galleries in the place the Chavin de Huantar temple was built. However, their adventures came to an abrupt end when they found a tunnel they were unable to traverse as it was too small. Not giving up they turned to new technology and robots.

The robot used by the team had wheels, according to the team, it is able to find fragments of ceramic, along with tools along with human skeletons. Archaeologists guided the remote-controlled robot into the small tunnel with a camera on top of it. The robot managed to take photos inside the tunnel that revealed it stretched a long way. The archaeologists realized there was something in the tunnel when they spotted objects in the foreground.

Tunnels Date Back to Between 1,200 and 200 BC

The 35 underground tunnels are interlinked, with archaeologists dating them to between 1,200 and 200 years BC. John Rick, a Stanford University professor said:

"We have found at least three people in one of the galleries. One of them is a small boy, the other one is a teenager and the other one is a young man, between 20 and 30 years old."

Priests Along with Authority Figures Used Architecture to Portray Higher Powers

It is thought that priests along with those in authority used the architecture of the tunnels to carry out rituals using drugs, light manipulation, and noise. The pilgrims could not explain the happenings inside the tunnels, which led them to believe that the leaders in Chavin had higher powers. The bodies inside the tunnel are thought to have been people who had been sacrificed. The archaeologists said that one of the skeletons found had been lying face down on the ground.

The discovery of the tunnels along with the bodies in them is said to be one of the most important of archaeological findings in the last 50 years. It is also thought the tunnels were used in the rescue of 72 hostages in Lima, the capital of Peru, during 1997. The hostages were from the Japanese embassy.

Remarkable NASA Footage Shows A Strange Meeting In Earth’s Orbit

A couple of days ago, the ISS camera unwillingly gave out a strange meeting between two bizarre objects that took place above our heads.

The video was uploaded to YouTube by keen-eyed watcher Streetcap1 and it immediately attracted the attention of UFO enthusiasts. The 7 minute video shows two golden, metallic objects slowly approaching each other but the footage cuts off before the conclusion we were all expecting.

The incident took place in front of the International Space Station and it’s intriguing how this time the feed wasn’t abruptly cut.

During the first 4 minutes of the video, the two objects exhibit a strange transparency and this has given skeptics reason to believe the apparitions are nothing but image artifacts caused by lens flare.

But starting from the 4 minute mark, the shape of both objects starts becoming more apparent. They also appear to make subtle adjustments to their direction and speed, all while lighting up and slowly altering their shape.

Judging by the reactions of YouTube commenters, this incident left the strong impression of an orbital meeting that should have remained secret.

“There seems to be a changing three-dimensional appearance around both objects as light moves around them between 4 and 5 minutes. Both objects appear to have spheres attached.”

“When I review this footage over and over, I feel that the right side image could be the Hubble satellite.The one on the left I ponder about and think is this the Black Knight? This object definitely shows some similar symmetry.”

This strange video allows us to draw some interesting conclusions.

First of all, the two objects’ speed matches that of the International Space Station. Since they remained in view for at least the duration of the video, we can assume the occupants of the ISS were well-aware of the presence of the two, presumably alien objects.

Second, when in orbit around Earth or any other planet/satellite, two spacecraft that have matching speeds usually attempt to dock with each other. This gives us reason to suspect that one or both objects met with the ISS, before or after the footage was taken.

This wouldn’t be the first time such a contact took place. Last year, former NASA engineer Mark McClelland claimed to have witnessed a meeting between astronauts and a 9 foot tall alien being in the cargo bay of a space shuttle. A similar scenario could have just unfolded aboard the ISS.

De gevolgen daarvan kunnen dan ook ongelooflijk zwaar zijn, waarschuwen ze.

In maart werd Papoea-Nieuw-Guinea al opgeschrikt: wegen werden verwoest, bruggen zakten in, naschokken teisterden de regio. Een aardbeving met een magnitude van 7.5 op de schaal van Richter kostte het leven aan meer dan honderd slachtoffers. Tot op de dag van vandaag is de materiële schade van de ramp nog niet hersteld.

Drie weken geleden was Indonesië aan de beurt. Lombok kreeg te maken met een beving van 6.9 op de schaal van richter, terwijl de regio bleef kreunen onder verschillende naschokken. Zeventigduizend bewoners verloren het dak boven hun hoofd, talloze Vlaamse toeristen moesten vluchten, het dodentol liep op tot 347.

En recenter: dinsdag kreeg de noordoostelijke kust van Venezuela klappen tijdens een beving van 7.3 op een schaal van Richter. Vandaag moesten de gebieden aan de grens tussen Brazilië en Peru een aardbeving met een magnitude van 7.1 doorstaan.

“Superaardbeving”

In het totaal is er sprake van maar liefst 144 aardbevingen in 7 dagen tijd. En dat maakt seismologen ongerust: zij vrezen immers dat die bevingen een zogenaamde “superaardbeving” triggeren, eentje die nog meer schade kan berokkenen dan de voorgangers. “De tektonische platen blijven immers tegen elkaar schuren, waardoor een grote hoeveelheid spanning zich ophoopt, die dan plots kan vrijkomen in een veel zwaardere schok”, aldus Chris Goldfinger, een gerenommeerd seismoloog aan de Oregon State Universiteit.

Zo’n aardbeving kan een magnitude hebben van maar liefst 8.0 of 9.0 op de schaal van Richter, legt Goldfinger uit. De gevolgen daarvan zijn ongelooflijk zwaar. “In zo’n geval voelen drie minuten aan als een eeuwigheid. Een beving van die duur is echt heel erg lang. We zouden talloze bruggen en snelwegen verliezen, de kustlijn zal moeten worden afgesloten en landschappen zullen nooit meer hetzelfde zijn”, berekende Goldfinger voor zijn eigen woonplaats in Oregon City, Californië.

Volgens de seismoloog is het onmogelijk om precies te voorspellen waar en wanneer de beving zal doorgaan. Wat wel duidelijk is, is dat die “superaardbeving” vooral zou toeslaan in de zogenaamde Pacifische Ring van Vuur, ‘The Ring of Fire’. Die regio loopt van Zuid-Amerika tot Australië en via het westen van de Verenigde Staten naar het oosten van Azië. In dat gebied vindt maar liefst 90 procent van alle geologische activiteit op aarde plaats. Dat wil zeggen dat er niet alleen aardbevingen, maar ook frequent vulkaanuitbarstingen of tsunami’s voorkomen.

Ook kleinere breuken onder hoogspanning

Wat de situatie voor de Verenigde Staten nog gevaarlijker maakt, is het feit dat ook de minder bekende Cascadiabreuk en de San Andreasbreuk ook onder hoogspanning staan.

De San Andreasbreuk zou volgens berekeningen van de Universiteiten van Californië en Arizona eens in de 45 tot 144 jaar een beving veroorzaken, maar dat is ondertussen al geleden van in 1857. “Die rustige seismische periode zonder stevige aardschokken in Californië kan niet blijven duren”, zo waarschuwt seismoloog James Dolan van de Universiteit van Southern California.

Ook de Cascadiabreuklijn loopt van Vancouver in Canada tot het noorden van Californië. Om de ongeveer 230 jaar leidt de spanning op die breuklijn tot een beving. Maar de laatste aardbeving door die breuklijn is intussen al 313 jaar geleden. Toen was er een aardbeving die volgens onderzoekers een tsunami van 10 meter hoog zou veroorzaakt hebben en de Amerikaanse kustlijn 1 tot 2 meter heeft laten zakken.

Niet of, maar wanneer

Volgens experts is de vraag intussen niet meer óf die er zal komen, maar wel wanneer dat zal gebeuren. Zij maken zo veel mogelijk berekeningen om de schok zo goed mogelijk te kunnen inschatten, als het zich voordoet. “Bijna 13.000 mensen kunnen sterven bij zo’n aardbeving en de daaropvolgende tsunami. En nog eens 27.000 mensen zullen gewond raken, een miljoen mensen zal op de vlucht moeten slaan”, zei Kenneth Murphy van FEMA, het Federal Emergency Management Agency van het departement Homeland Security van de Verenigde Staten, eerder al op basis van berekeningen van dat agentschap. “Voor één keer hoop ik dat de wetenschap het niet bij het rechte eind heeft.”

May the Space Force be with you: Why new initiative makes sense

In June 2017, a contingent of congressional representatives recommended dividing the Air Force’s Space Force mission into two separate undertakings: to focus on terrestrial aviation-related matters and to concentrate operational matters in the realm of space.

When President Trump announced that he was directing the Pentagon to establish a sixth branch of the armed services, the proposal was met with skepticism, lots of rolling eyes and plenty of comedic jabs by late-night TV comedians.

In the UFO community, there were many who viewed the Space Force call as another step toward UFO and ET disclosure. The doomsters saw the effort as an ominous hint that some nefarious alien invasion force might be on its way here. But let’s take a deep breath and examine the concept of Space Force with a practical view.

During the 1970s, it was just the Americans and Russians who were doing things in space. But in the last 50 years, dozens of countries have been engaged in space research and have been involved with putting commercial and military assets into Earth’s orbit. The Chinese put a rover on the moon in early 2016, for example.

So there are lots of players in the space game. And there are plenty of commercial businesses in the aerospace marketplace ready to sell launch technology to those who can pay for it.

The late-night comics might have you believe that Space Force will be Marines in spacesuits flying around with laser rifles, which sounds like something out of a pulp comic book. But this is the 21st century, so wake up: Space Force will be handled with robotic devices.

Consider, for a moment, a rogue country like North Korea or a well-funded terrorist with access to launch technology. Imagine if they decided to destroy key American communications satellites using missiles launched with low-yield nuclear weapons.

Cable television feeds and satellite-supported internet pipelines would be gone, and our domestic and international telephone capacity cut to a trickle. Suddenly our country would be plunged back into the 1960s, while our commercial economy would grind to a standstill. Think of it as another Pearl Harbor.

It might sound too fantastic for some people, yet the threat is very real and our enemies are out there. It’s easy to make a laundry list of folks who don’t like the United States. Many of these despicable actors are unable to create that kind of technology, but they would certainly buy it if they had the financial resources.

Some have suggested that “this Space Force stuff is NASA’s job.” Yet NASA is strictly a research operation. Its mission statement states, “To pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research.”

During the presidency of George Washington, American commercial shipping was being seriously disrupted by four North African Muslim states in the southern Mediterranean. Congress passed the Naval Act of 1794, which established a permanent naval force to protect American commercial interests on the high seas around the world.

The mission of the Navy is to maintain, train and equip combat-ready naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas.

In those colonial times, our commercial interests were driven by our country being a seafaring nation. But what a lot of people do not consider now is that humans have become a space-faring species. We have substantial commercial assets in Earth’s orbit that our economy and our daily lives depend upon.

So is Space Force a dumb idea? Not in the least! Perhaps a good mission statement for Space Force would be this: to maintain, train, equip combat-ready, operational space-borne resources capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining free access to the realm of space.

Why Mysterious Green Fireballs Worried the U.S. Government in 1948

Painting by Mrs. Lincoln LaPaz of a baffling green fireball seen numerous times over the Sandia mountains east of Albuquerque in late 1952. Mrs. LaPaz's husband, head of the University of New Mexico's Institute of Meteoritics, investigated the sightings but couldn't find an explanation. The painting was published in TIME Magazine in November 1951 and in LIFE magazine a few months later, an illustration of the nation's Cold War obsession with UFOs.

On February 29, 1949, the Los Alamos, New Mexico Skyliner newspaper ran a pieceon what it referred to, in typical newspaper parlance, as “flying saucers”—and a possible conspiracy around them:

“Los Alamos now has flying green lights. These will ‘o wisps seen generally about 2 a.m., have alerted the local constabulary and their presence is being talked about in Santa Fe bars. But local wheels deny any official knowledge of the sky phenomena. Each one passes the buck to another.”

The story ended with, “Have you seen a green light lately?”

In fact, a great many had, and would continue to do so—enough to prompt TIMEmagazine, in November 1951, to publish a piece on the phenomenon called “Great Balls of Fire.” What makes the multiple sightings of “flying green lights” in New Mexico in 1948 and onward such a significant chapter in UFO history is exactly that—there were multiple sightings.

That was unnerving enough. But most alarming—particularly to the United States government—was that the sightings were concentrated around the Los Alamos and Sandia atomic-weapons laboratories. And other highly sensitive military installations, including radar stations and fighter-interceptor bases, weren’t far away. That meant the sightings were reported by typically cool-headed pilots, weather observers, scientists, intelligence officers and other defense personnel, and led many to suspect the fireballs were Soviet spy devices.

Like a meteor—but not

On the night of December 5, 1948, two separate plane crews reported having seen a “green ball of fire,” heading west to east. In one of these instances, the fireball raced head-on toward the plane itself, compelling the rattled pilot to swerve the plane out of the way.

One pilot, sometime later, would vividly describe the green fireballs: “Take a soft ball and paint it with some kind of fluorescent paint that will glow a bright green in the dark… Then have someone take the ball out about 100 feet in front of you and about 10 feet above you. Have him throw the ball right at your face, as hard as he can throw it. That’s what a green fireball looks like.”

When a crew of intelligence officers, led by Dr. Lincoln LaPaz, head of the University of New Mexico’s Institute of Meteoritics, plotted the fireball’s flight path and scoured the area a meteorite would have hit, they found nothing—no meteor fragments, no debris, no craters, no evidence of fire.

The inexplicable sightings continued in the area, with sightings on December 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 20th and 28th. December 20th proved a turning point, literally, and a particularly alarming one for those clinging to the theory that these were meteors: The balls of fire descended from the heavens at a 45-degree angle, then abruptly leveled off into a gravity-defying horizontal flight path. And, as LaPaz would note in a letter to the district commanding officer of the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations, “none of the green fireballs has a train of sparks of a dust cloud…”

In the years since, there have been reports of green-fireball sightings around the world, from Alberta, Canada to South Africa. In June 2018, a green fireball made an impressive appearance at a concert performance in the Netherlands by the Foo Fighters (coincidentally, the band named for the U.S. pilots’ term for UFOs during World War II). And according to the International Meteor Organization there were more than 170 reported sightings of the fireballs that night, in at least five European countries. The band’s reaction, according to their official Twitter account: “The sky IS a neighborhood.”

An alternate form of lightning?

The phenomenon came to the attention of the Australian physicist Dr. Stephen Hughes in 2006, when several green fireballs were spotted in the sky in Queensland and New Zealand. “I came to the conclusion that there was something a bit strange going on,” he says.

Hughes went on to write a paper that theorized a possible connection between green fireballs and the well-documented, but still ultimately little-understood, phenomenon of ball lightning—mysterious hovering orbs of electricity that have only been taken seriously by science since the 1960s, well after the New Mexico sightings.

There is still no conclusive theory of what ball lightning is, but hypotheses include antimatter, light bubbles, microwave interference, retinal after-images, electromagnetic knots, even primordial black holes.

Dr. Hughes’ own theory of ball lightning, which he believes fits the description of the New Mexico fireballs: electrified air. “It occurred to me, sometimes when something shoots through the atmosphere, like a meteor, it could be creating a conductive pathway from the ionosphere—a whole ocean of plasma above the Earth—down to the ground. The air becomes electrified.”

The phosphorescent green color, Dr. Hughes says, is due to ionized oxygen, which also accounts for the striking greens of the aurora borealis, also known as the Northern lights.

Cold War spy craft…or extraterrestrial probes?

This potential explanation could not have occurred to those on the ground in New Mexico in 1948. After interviewing more than a hundred witnesses, Dr. LaPaz went on to advise the military and the Atomic Energy Commission of his opinion that the fireballs were likely either top-secret “unconventional defensive devices” being tested by the U.S.—or Soviet spying devices.

When Edward J. Ruppelt, director of the U.S. Air Force Project Blue Book UFO investigations, visited the Los Alamos National Laboratory in early 1952 to interview scientists and technicians, he noted that they became particularly animated when the idea of interplanetary vehicles was suggested.

“They had been doing a lot of thinking about this, they said, and they had a theory,” wrote Ruppelt in The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects (1953). They thought the fireballs were actually extraterrestrial probes “projected into our atmosphere from a ‘spaceship’ hovering several hundred miles above the Earth.”

Officially, government investigators concluded that the green fireballs were some kind of never-before-seen natural phenomenon. Interest in, and investigation into, the fireballs dropped off at the outbreak of the Korean War.

“Writing these off as natural phenomena did not solve the problem,” says UFO researcher Jan Aldrich, who believes the green fireballs were related to aerial phenomena spotted in Fort Hood, Texas, in 1949. “It just pushed it under the table.”

Nuclear fallout debris?

But that hasn’t stopped UFO researchers from speculating more recently.

In his 2008 book UFO and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites, Robert Hastings, drawing on declassified official documents, suggests that the fireball trajectories align with those of fallout-debris clouds associated with top-secret atomic testing.

But according to Dr. Hughes, there’s another reason to suspect those green fireballs were buoyant balls of plasma: All those unpredictable movements, which suggest their paths may have been following electric field lines above the Earth.

“Personally, I think that the erratic change in direction is reasonably conclusive proof that the phenomenon is electrical in nature,” says Dr. Hughes, citing the more familiar sharp angles of a lightning bolt streaking through the sky.

“If the ball lightning phenomenon was a solid mass, there would be enormous inertia, making it very difficult to explain the source of energy for such extreme acceleration. In the case of a plasma ball, an internal energy source is not required—in the same way that a bolt of lightning does not need some kind of electrical rocket motor to rapidly change direction on the way to the ground or between clouds.”

Still, at this stage, it’s hard to shake the sense that equating the green fireballs with ball lightning is tantamount to explaining a mystery with another mystery.

“I’m a believer in the sense I believe that UFOs exist,” says Dr. Hughes, who finds the name apt: “They are unidentified flying objects. I just don’t think there are little green men at the controls.

On a humid, August night in 1952, scoutmaster D.S. “Sonny” DesVergers emerged burned and barely coherent from a dense palmetto grove in the South Florida Everglades. He claimed he had encountered an unidentified flying object that discharged a fireball, which left him singed and barely able to see.

Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, chief UFO investigator for the U.S. Air Force, would later label the event “the best hoax in UFO history.” But the DesVergers incident remains one of the most intriguing cases from Project Blue Book, the Air Force’s now-declassified investigations into UFOs—because it wasn’t just a sighting incident, but one involving a purported attack. To this day, it’s still unsolved.

Cue appropriately spooky “X-Files” music.

A series of investigations conducted by the U.S. Air Force between 1952 and 1969, Project Blue Book was tasked with scientifically analyzing UFO-related incidents to determine whether they were a threat to national security. Some say the project was commissioned to find rational explanations for these mysterious phenomena, to help quell a growing Cold War-era public hysteria over unidentified objects in the sky. UFO fever reached such intensity that in April 1952, four months before the DesVergers incident, LIFE magazine published a story called “Have We Visitors from Space?”

Pulling over to inspect a bright flash of light

As Ruppelt would later chronicle in his 1956 book The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects, on the evening of August 19, 1952, hardware-store clerk and Scoutmaster DesVergers, 30, was driving a group of Boy Scouts home when he saw a bright light flash over Military Trail near West Palm Beach, Florida. Thinking it may be a downed plane or car accident, DesVergers pulled onto the shoulder of the highway so he could take a closer look. Armed with a machete and flashlights, he entered the palmetto grove near where he saw the lights, leaving the three boys in the vehicle with instructions to alert the residents of a nearby farmhouse if he did not return in 15 minutes.

According to the declassified documents, after about four minutes of hacking through the bush DesVergers entered a clearing in the grove. The first thing he described was an acute, nauseating smell and then the feeling of somebody or something watching him. He next experienced a sensation of oven-like heat coming from above. Looking up, DesVergers said, he could not see any stars as he was standing beneath a hovering object.

The object was circular, DesVergers recounted, dull black, with no seams, about 30 feet in diameter with a height of 10 feet, a convex dome atop it and the bottom edge lit with a phosphorescent glow.

Enveloped by a red mist

What happened next is what separates DesVergers’ encounter from thousands of other UFO sightings: As he slowly moved backward, he recalled, he heard a noise like metal against metal, “like a hatch opening,” after which a red, flare-like light came from the side of the object and slowly moved toward him. (DesVergers constantly referred to it as a “ship” when recounting the tale to the authorities) As he placed his hands over his face—fists closed, hand over each eye—the red ball of light grew into a red mist, engulfing him. It was then, he recounted, that he lost consciousness.

When he awoke, DesVergers said, he was leaning against a tree, but could not see properly as his eyes burned. Scrambling back through the palmettos, his eyesight slowly returning to normal, he burst, incoherent, out onto the highway, where he was met by the boys and local authorities.

‘I’ve never seen anyone as terrified as he was’

The three scouts, Bobby Ruffing, 12, David Rowan, 11, and Chuck Stevens, 10, remained in the car after DesVergers entered the grove. Later, in recounting what he witnessed to authorities, Ruffing said he initially saw a semi-circle of white lights descending into the trees. Ruffing also recounted seeing a red light through the brush, as did Rowan and Stevens, who told of also seeing DesVergers’ flashlight through the trees before going dark. That’s when the scouts headed to the nearby farmhouse for help; a Palm Beach County deputy and Lake Worth constable responded to the farmer’s call for assistance.

Returning to the site of the abandoned vehicle almost an hour after DesVergers first said he saw the lights, the officers and scouts witnessed the scoutmaster emerge from the palmettos, waving his machete and babbling incoherently. “In all my 19 years of law-enforcement work, I’ve never seen anyone as terrified as he was,” the deputy is recorded as saying in Ruppelt’s investigation.

Back at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office, DesVergers and the boys underwent questioning. Officers noted that the hair on DesVergers’ forearms was singed and the skin burned. They also noted three tiny burn holes in the bill of the scoutmaster’s cap.

Following procedure, the local authorities contacted relevant agencies with the incident report, which eventually made its way to Blue Book chief Ruppelt. He later described the case as “one of the weirdest UFO reports that I came up against.”

The mystery of the singed grass

Arriving in Florida soon after the encounter, Ruppelt and his team began their investigation, obtaining statements from all parties involved and taking grass and soil specimens from the clearing in which DesVergeres said the encounter took place. The latter evidence would prove to be the most inexplicable piece of the encounter puzzle.

“The fact that they documented and took samples at all is lucky, and one of the most interesting aspects of this case,” says Jeffrey Wilson, a private-industry analyst who examines noteworthy ground phenomenon.  As co-founder of the Independent Crop Circle Researchers’ Association (ICCRA), Wilson investigates global circle phenomena. Though different to the crop circles he examines today, aspects of the DesVergers incident led him to further investigate.

As the grass specimens were being tested, DesVergers’ character would come under intense scrutiny, with authorities noting his other-than-honorable discharge from the U.S. Marines due to theft of a car, and what Florida locals would describe as his ability to tell tall tales. But when Ruppelt first interviewed DesVergers, he described the scoutmaster as likable, willing to cooperate and displaying the “immediate impression he was telling the truth.”

Taking into account the background checks on DesVergers, along with a return visit to the encounter site where he determined the Boy Scouts could not have witnessed DesVergers and the mysterious red light in the grove due to their distance and denseness of the foliage, Ruppelt would later call the entire event a hoax. DesVergers was painted as an opportunist and media-hungry conman who sold his story to The American Weekly newspaper the following year.

Though Ruppelt would come to believe the tale was fabricated, and he and his team would come up with dozens of ways the event could have been staged, they never managed to prove the incident was, in fact, a hoax. Their biggest stumbling block: the grass samples taken at the site.

After samples from the Florida clearing were sent to Battelle Memorial Institute (under contract with the USAF to provide scientific support to Project Blue Book), agronomists made some interesting findings: Though the soil remained consistent, the root structure of the plants in question were charred black, and the lower leaves had deteriorated as if by heat. The only way the lab could come close to duplicating the effect was to place live clumps of grass in a pan of sandy soil and heat it to about 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Though Wilson has witnessed singed grass in his investigations into ground phenomenon, it has always been an occurrence above the soil, never the roots, as the lab findings in the DesVergers case indicate. Wilson says this is the only recorded example of such findings of which he is aware.

With those associated with the case no longer able to comment or add context (DesVergers and Ruppelt have both since died), the case remains unexplained. But according to Wilson, “Something unusual happened to the guy, and the physical evidence backed him up. That’s why I put the effort into checking this out.”

“Why would you go to the trouble of faking something like this?” he continued. “Why, and how, would he stage that? It doesn’t make any sense.”
