7. These Masters of the Universe Are Obsessed (They Are Also All Men)

Which space-besotted billionaire will be the first to make contact?

Robert Bigelow 
As a child, Bigelow watched the government test atomic bombs from his bedroom window and he and his classmates could see the mushroom clouds bloom over the Mojave Desert from their school playground. To some, such memories are the stuff of dystopic Cold War hellscapes, but Bigelow remembers them as an epiphany. Even back then, Bigelow knew he wasn’t going to be a scientist (he was lousy at math), so he resolved himself to make as much money as possible in the hopes that he could one day fund his own space program. He went on to make at least $1 billion with Budget Suites of America, long-term motel rentals around the Southwest. He now runs Bigelow Aerospace, which holds contracts with NASA and was a primary contractor for the Department of Defense’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program.

Elon Musk 
Musk is hell-bent on using his $21 billion to colonize Mars. His company SpaceX has been trying desperately to reduce the cost of space travel in the hopes of beginning a million-person colonization of Mars. “If [we’re not in] a simulation, then maybe we’re in a lab and there’s some advanced alien civilization that’s just watching how we develop, out of curiosity, like mold in a petri dish,” says Musk.

Paul Allen 
When Congress cut off funding for NASA’s hunt for aliens in 1993, Allen gave millions to the SETI Institute; in 2009, the Allen Telescope Array started searching the cosmos. Allen has given an additional $30 million to the project, a sum that bought him a guarantee that if the array detects an extraterrestrial communiqué, Allen will be the first nonscientist to know.

Yuri Milner 
Last year, Milner — named after a Russian cosmonaut — announced a plan to send spaceships to Saturn’s moon Enceladus in search of alien life. Milner is also funding Breakthrough Listen, a ten-year project to use a telescope in West Virginia to search for messages from intelligent life, and Breakthrough Starshot, in conjunction with Mark Zuckerberg and the late Stephen Hawking.

Jeff Bezos 
His company Blue Origin is competing with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to launch reusable rockets (and comically rich tourists) into space. While Musk played himself in a cameo in Iron Man 2, Bezos appeared as an alien Starfleet official in 2016’s Star Trek Beyond. (It was not a speaking role.)

“Why do I feel so much like Sigourney Weaver?” Bezos said last March as he piloted a giant manned robot at Amazon’s MARs conference.

Franklin Antonio 
Antonio cofounded Qualcomm, a mobile tech company, in the mid-’80s. He’s also the company’s chief scientist and has given millions to SETI research. Last year Antonio gave $30 million to the University of California San Diego’s school of engineering and followed that donation up with a contribution to Roy Moore’s failed senate campaign.

8. As Are Some Prominent Military and Government Folks

You see a lot more as a test pilot than as a farmer in Iowa.

Nick Pope
“Know that there are people who watch our skies to protect the sleeping masses,” Britain’s former chief UFO investigator warns in his memoir. “But also know that not all potential intruders into our airspace have two wings, a fuselage, and a tail, and not all show up on our radar.” Pope’s ominous counsel follows time he spent in the ’90s inspecting thousands of paranormal incidents from crop circles to purported bedside abductions. He took that job certain this kind of stuff “only happened to weirdos,” but unexplainable sightings soon convinced him that “there is a war going on” with aliens. Worse, the U.K. Defense Ministry cut his old UFO desk’s funding in 2009, so whatever’s out there “could attack at any time,” Pope believes. Earthlings’ diminished odds have gotten him more fatalistic lately, too: After scientists suggested ‘Oumuamua — a bizarre-shaped asteroid that’s the first interstellar object to pass through our solar system — might be an alien spaceship, he argued in December we “probably wouldn’t survive an alien invasion” anyway, because if they find us, it’s clear who has the upper hand.

Paul Hellyer 
Canada’s Defense minister during the Cold War, now 94, believes that at least 80 species of aliens have been visiting Earth for millennia. One group is called the Tall Whites (because they can reach basketball-goal height) or Nordic Blondes (because they look like they’re “from Denmark or somewhere”). Unfortunately, the others may include ecoterrorists: “We’re doing all sorts of things which are not what good stewards of their homes should be doing,” he told media in 2014. “They don’t like that, and they’ve made it very clear.” Hellyer adds that many technological “breakthroughs” were aped from these extraterrestrials. Microchips and fiber optics, for instance, were taken off crashed alien vehicles and reverse-engineered. The aliens have a special technology that would solve climate change as well, he claims, but the Illuminati are hiding it because it would devastate oil interests.

Philip Corso 
Corso’s military career was long and illustrious, from rebuilding Rome’s government after World War II as an Army Intelligence captain to having worked the Pentagon’s foreign-technology desk in the ’60s. He doesn’t appear to have said a word publicly about aliens until 1997, when Simon & Schuster published The Day After Roswell — with a foreword by Strom Thurmond — just 13 months before Corso died. It was his tell-all outlining a decades-long Roswell cover-up while plugging his own clandestine exploits, which he claimed involved reverse-engineering technology found on alien spacecrafts. This is how the world got lasers, particle beams, microchips, even Kevlar, Corso said. Skeptics argue that regular Earth people’s R&D behind technology like lasers is impossibly well documented.

Barry Goldwater 
Had he won election in 1964, one of his White House’s first acts might have been releasing top-secret UFO files. He harbored a lifelong fascination with the truth about extraterrestrial contact, much of it stemming from his desire to “find out what was in” the mysterious Hangar 18 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, home to the Air Force’s Project Blue Book. In the ’80s, it surfaced he’d spent decades corresponding with UFO investigators and harassing the military for access to the hangar’s so-called Blue Room, where conspiracy theorists believe alien bodies from Roswell are preserved. (“Not only can’t you get into it,” his friend General Curtis LeMay supposedly snapped in 1975, “but don’t you ever mention it to me again.” Goldwater claims he didn’t.) After retiring in 1987, the senator told Larry King the Earth is “one of several billion planets in this universe. I can’t believe that God or whoever is in charge would put thinking bodies on only one planet.”

Roscoe Hillenkoetter
After he’d served as the first CIA director (he’d been appointed by President Truman), Hillenkoetter retired from a distinguished Navy career in 1957 and took a gig at a brand-new private research group called the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena. Its chief purpose was pressuring the government to disclose what it knew about UFOs, via investigations like Project Blue Book. Hillenkoetter went after the intelligence community, writing angry open letters that said things like: “It is time for the truth to be brought out in open congressional hearings.” When he pointed out in 1960 that the Air Force had investigated 6,312 UFO reports to date, but was seemingly trying “to hide the facts,” the military reminded Americans that “no physical evidence, not even a minute fragment of a so-called flying saucer, has ever been found.”

Of course, another theory popped up in the ’80s — that Hillenkoetter had helped run a secret committee all along of politicians, military officers, and scientists called the Majestic 12. Ufologists claimed this cabal was formed in 1947, once Truman started panicking over what to do with all the alien spacecrafts the government kept finding. The group’s existence is based on government files that allegedly materialized in 1984. The FBI denied their authenticity entirely, but they and the Majestic 12 remain popular grist for conspiracy theories, having figured in Blink-182’s song “Aliens Exist” and even one of Twin Peaks’s side plots.

Dennis Kucinich 
Kucinich’s 2008 presidential campaign didn’t suffer from his admission, made during a live TV debate, that, back in 1982, he’d seen a UFO at friend Shirley MacLaine’s Washington State home. (He was polling around 4 percent at the time.) But the current candidate for Ohio governor got mocked plenty; one joke among Beltway insiders was he wanted the “little green vote.”

Staff were prepped to deny the encounter when reporters asked about the passage in MacLaine’s 2007 New Age self-help book, Sage-ing While Age-ing, that revealed Kucinich didn’t just see a UFO but had also felt “a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind.” The other witnesses — a Juilliard-trained trumpeter working as MacLaine’s bodyguard and his model girlfriend — also report having seen a trio of triangle-shaped aircrafts flying in tight formation. Her house was 50 miles from Mt. Rainier, a “saucer magnet” for UFO buffs because of all the nearby sightings, including America’s very first “flying saucer” in 1947. Kucinich had the community’s full support, even if he spent years playing coy.

It helped that in Congress he did things like trying to ban space-based weapons. A 2001 bill he authored himself prohibited America from using “radiation, electromagnetic, psychotronic, sonic, laser, or other energies” for the purposes of “information war, mood management, or mind control of such populations.” It explicitly singled out “chemtrails,” a term for jet condensation trails when conspiracy theorists believe they’re being used for biological warfare. In 2008, however, he only confirmed he’d seen a UFO, then pointed out, accurately, to moderator Tim Russert that “more people in this country have seen UFOs than I think approve of George Bush’s presidency.”

John Podesta
When WikiLeaks published the Hillary Clinton emails, a weird number of Podesta’s mentioned aliens and involved contact with believers like Tom DeLonge and astronaut Edgar Mitchell. As Bill Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, he was known as an X-Files fanatic who’d “call the Air Force and ask them what’s going on in Area 51.” In 2014, he spent 13 months advising President Obama — and what was his “biggest failure”? According to him, failing to get government files declassified on the 1965 Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, UFO incident.
Then during Bush’s term, he began publicly crusading for NASA to release UFO documents to journalist Leslie Kean, the person ultimately behind the Times’ Pentagon exposé.

Podesta has kept his personal ET beliefs under wraps, but in Kean’s best seller UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, he gamely wrote a foreword that argues: “It’s time to find out what the truth really is … The American people — and people around the world — want to know, and they can handle the truth.”

Pavel and Marina Popovich
This husband-wife duo was one part world-renowned cosmonaut (Pavel) and one part the Soviet Union’s most celebrated female pilot (Marina). They held among their titles that of sixth human in orbit, first Soviet female to break the sound barrier, and holder of more than 100 aviation world records. Once their illustrious flying careers ended, both became ufologists. Pavel headed up Russia’s UFO association and claimed to have seen an unidentified aircraft zip past his airplane on a trip home from Washington, D.C., with a group of scientists. People onboard said it was triangular, brightly lit, and rocketed by at 1,000 miles per hour.

Marina one-upped him, though — she claimed to have seen multiple UFOs and a “Bigfoot creature” — and after they divorced, she became the acclaimed expert, not Pavel. She began preaching a UFO glasnost of sorts under Gorbachev, claiming the Soviet government had pieces of five spaceships in its possession and reports of 14,000 UFO sightings, yet for decades researchers were “either fired or put in psychiatric hospitals.” Her eventual book, simply called UFO Glasnost, spoke candidly about how Leonardo da Vinci, Jules Verne, and Ray Bradbury were alien mediums and Gorbachev had the markings of an extraterrestrial emissary because “he’s an epoch-making phenomenon.”

9. (And This Genius Thinks He Can Talk to Them)

In January, Stephen Wolfram — a computer-scientist philosopher and the author of a “universal” programming language that informed the alien communication in the movie Arrival — wrote an exceedingly long blog postabout how best to communicate with aliens.

Tim Urban: You created a language you think we might be able to use to communicate with aliens. So what exactly is it that we would want to say to the rest of the universe if we had the chance?

Stephen Wolfram: I think the main difficulty is the definitional one. You talk about alien life, you talk about intelligence; what are those things abstractly?

We know the specific example that we have historically been exposed to: life on Earth, human intelligence. The question is, when you generalize away from that, what do you get to? One of the things that I’m fond of quoting is the statement “The weather has a mind of its own.” What does this mean? What is the abstract kind of thing that’s like the mind? It’s the ability to do sophisticated computation. That’s something that exists in the weather, just as it exists in our brains, just as it exists in lots of living systems. And then, what’s different between the weather and its sort-of-mindlike thing and our human intelligence? The fundamental answer to that is our human intelligence has its particular cultural, civilizational history and the weather doesn’t.

TU: So is it that history that we’d want to communicate?

SW: Yes, I think the thing to realize is that we in our civilization have followed a particular path. There are an infinite number of possible paths that we could’ve followed. To any other intelligence, our path would be quite mysterious.

TU: Right, so we actually have unique information to communicate. You could have the most sophisticated species, and we can still tell them something they don’t know about our history.

SW: I’m particularly amused by Elon Musk’s car going into space. That is so extremely aligned with the notion of grave goods from ancient Egypt, where you’re taking things from your everyday life to be buried with you. It’s charming.

10. There Have Been Enough Well-Known Encounters to Fill Encyclopedias

Barney and Betty Hill’s Abduction
The Hills (above) claimed that in 1961 a bright light swooped over their car on a New Hampshire road and that they woke up a few hours later and the car had been “magnetized.” With regressive hypnosis, both were able to recall being abducted and probed by the little gray men, which soon became the de facto alien description. (The Hills’ captors were, interestingly, very similar to Selenites — the five-foot moon inhabitants H.G. Wells invented for The First Men in the Moon.) Betty astonished authorities when she began drawing a map of the constellation the creatures claimed to be from. Initially it looked like nonsense, until a few scientists noticed its resemblance to Zeta Reticuli, a system inside the constellation Reticulum largely unknown in that year. Their case generated widespread publicity, partly because they were a mixed-race couple in the ’60s, and turned into the flagship example of a “close encounter,” though not until years after the fact (skeptics argue the delayed report is a sign it’s a hoax). The hype ultimately culminated in The UFO Incident, a 1975 made-for-TV movie starring James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons.

Antonio Villas-Boas’s Seduction
In 1957, small aliens with huge heads allegedly came for Villas-Boas, a young Brazilian farmer. Villas-Boas was forced inside their vessel, where the creatures took blood samples from, of all places, his chin, and rubbed in some sort of gel. Soon after, a blonde female with big, almond-shaped eyes joined him. She began rubbing his body, then initiated sex. After they were done, she left quickly, which gave Villas-Boas the impression that he was being used to better the aliens’ “stock.” He didn’t react well, as he suddenly felt exploited as “a good stallion” by these foreign chin-fetishists.

Weird as it was, Boas’s encounter, with its probing and forced sex, became the archetypal alien abduction. Reportedly skittish at first, he eventually told his story to João Martins, the writer behind popular magazine O Cruzeiro’s “Flying Saucers’ Terrible Mission” series. Doctors confirmed Boas had suffered radiation poisoning, but Martins ultimately soured on Boas’s story, for one because his spaceship sketch bore remarkable similarities to the Soviet Union’s Sputnik. He turned out all right, though: He got a law degree, had four kids, and died believing his children had a half-sibling living in space.

The “Wow!” Signal
In 1977, Ohio State’s Big Ear radio telescope intercepted a 72-second burst of sound that bore signs of having come from interstellar space, which could be a sign of extraterrestrial communication. The anomaly measured 1,420 megahertz, a frequency in the “water hole,” the term for a radio-emission range thought ideal for intergalactic messages because it’s unusually quiet. Jerry Ehman, the astronomer who spotted it, was so excited that he scribbled a giant “Wow!” on his printout. Astronomy’s explanations for the bizarre phenomenon include secret spy satellites and a passing comet nobody knew about in 1977. But many admit nothing explains it adequately, and even if the signal doesn’t prove aliens exist, it’s still a “tug on the cosmic fishing line.” To date, it remains the best evidence of alien communication ever obtained.

Foo Fighters
In the middle of World War II, things took a mysterious turn for Air Force pilots flying overnight missions. They reported seeing lights chasing their aircraft. The number varied (sometimes it was one; other times ten), and so did the colors (red, orange, and green). But the unidentified objects shared in common that they moved very fast, up to 200 miles per hour, yet could dart on a dime. These pilots — among the world’s best — admitted the objects generally flew circles around them. Their lore grew among the squadrons. In 1944, a crew flying along the Rhine in Germany described seeing “eight to ten bright orange lights” whiz by “at high speed.” Neither ground control nor their own planes caught anything on radar, and when one pilot turned toward the lights, they reportedly “disappeared.”

They called their mystery air companions “foo fighters,” an inside joke based on a phrase the comic-book character Smokey Stover used to declare (“Where there’s foo, there’s fire”). The term flying saucer hadn’t caught on yet, or else it would’ve sufficed. Some witnesses assumed they were tracer fire, reflections from ice crystals, or high-tech weaponry developed by the Nazis, while the government had a boring explanation as always: They were “electrostatic (similar to St. Elmo’s fire) or electromagnetic phenomena,” though which one and wherefrom were “never defined.”

Kecksburg UFO Crash
In 1965, an intense fireball streaked over southern Canada and Detroit and dropped debris over Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Officially, it was declared a midsize meteor, but eyewitnesses in the small Pennsylvania town of Kecksburg claimed they’d found an acorn-shaped object about the size of a VW Beetle in the woods that was festooned with hieroglyphics. Newspaper reporters on the ground said the military conducted a “close inspection” of the crash site, and despite the official line being that the search yielded “absolutely nothing,” conspiracists maintain the object was packed onto an Army flatbed truck and that the whole thing was a Roswell-level cover-up. Leslie Kean’s Coalition for the Freedom of Information managed to secure some of the government’s files but reportedly not anything enlightening.

However, a second explanation surfaced in the early aughts: It was Die Glocke, purportedly a top-secret weapon Nazis developed that let them time-travel. By dumb Back to the Future–esque luck, it had come to rural Pennsylvania in the year 1965. These proponents argue Nazi SS officer Hans Kammler was navigating the device when it crash-landed in Kecksburg, allowing him to escape Allied troops in the days before VE Day and successfully integrate into postwar U.S. society.

Kenneth Arnold’s “Flying Saucer”
Kenneth Arnold, a respected pilot, claimed in 1947 he’d seen nine mostly flat objects whip past Mount Rainier at speeds he timed at 1,760 miles per hour. “They were shaped like saucers,” he reportedly explained, “and were so thin I could barely see them.” A neologism was born.

Arnold he demanded military personnel explain what the contraptions were, if they knew, since he’d dismissed any possibility of them being guided missiles or new types of jets. His best guess? “From another planet.” Dozens of others came forward with similar sightings, from as far away as Oklahoma and Arizona. But Arnold didn’t enjoy his newfound celebrity. He said people had started shrieking in cafés when they saw him and fleeing. He described the situation to reporters as “out of hand” and regretted having people “look at me as a combination of Einstein, Flash Gordon, and screwball.”

Phoenix Lights
On March 13, 1997, thousands of people in southern Arizona say they saw weird lights move across the night sky in a flying V. Most of their reports came in between 7 and 10:30 p.m. along a 300-mile stretch from Phoenix, through Tucson, and to the Mexico border. A majority of people spied the pattern passing overhead (it was supposedly several football fields long), but the Air Force also sent a team of A-10 Warthogs from nearby Barry Goldwater Range on a training exercise that same night, and, as luck would have it, those planes dropped some stationary flares just outside Phoenix, considerably complicating any UFO conspiracies with a second set of strange bright lights.

Witnesses claim to have watched the first set of lights — the low-altitude wedge formation — coast by with their binoculars; they say the lights were red, had a singular white one at the V’s tip, seemed engineless, and even banked southeast at one point. Actor Kurt Russell now claims he saw them while up in a private plane near the Phoenix airport, but air-traffic control told him the radar was clear. Governor Fife Symington reportedly witnessed the V-shaped as well. At the time he felt sure it wasn’t aliens, but his mind changed in 2007, after retiring from politics: He told media that as a pilot, he knows “just about every machine that flies,” and these lights definitely weren’t terrestrial.

The “Warminster Thing”
Warminster’s long, controversial association with UFOs began in the English town on Christmas Day in 1964, when a local woman heard a “crackling sound” rip over her head. Other so-called sonic attacks plagued scores of others in town around the same time. Townspeople had no clue what was behind them, so they began blaming the “Thing.” Additional reports of inexplicable lights in the sky made it clear the “Thing” might have hailed from outer space.

Travis Walton’s Abduction
In 1975, a team of loggers claimed their 22-year-old co-worker Travis Walton disappeared for five days after a glowing disc in the Arizona woods zapped him with a “bluish ray.” Intrigued, he’d reportedly wandered underneath the hovering object, and it abducted him. He claims he awoke on a table in a sterile-looking room surrounded by three “well-developed fetuses” wearing tan robes. He tried to flee, passed out, then regained consciousness only once the aliens had ditched him on the Arizona roadside.

The story received loads of publicity — authorities thought Walton had been murdered, and seven eyewitnesses corroborating a single close encounter was unheard of. The National Enquirer ultimately paid the group $5,000 for the story, after they passed polygraphs and Walton agreed to be interviewed by the tabloid’s “prestigious” hypnotist. In 1993, Paramount released Fire in the Sky, a movie it said was based on “the most famous case of UFO abduction ever recorded.” Skeptics have shot holes in what they assume was a hoax and note that James Earl Jones’s NBC movie The UFO Incident had aired two weeks before Walton’s own UFO incident. The encounter has a cult following to this day, though, enough that a first edition of Walton’s 1978 memoir The Walton Experience now fetches hundreds of dollars online.

The Battle of Los Angeles
On February 25, 1942, reports filtered in of a glowing object floating over Culver City. Air-raid sirens sounded; the Army proceeded to pepper it with 1,400 anti-aircraft shells. Eventually it disappeared from view, but not before a citywide blackout was ordered, shell fragments got lodged in surrounding buildings, and five civilians died. The Navy later explained it had been a weather balloon. But ufologists suspected an alien spacecraft, which would explain why an hour’s worth of heavy artillery had failed to eliminate a single weather balloon.

Steven Spielberg would mercilessly satirize the incident in 1941, a “comedy spectacular.” But ufologists immediately suspected an alien spacecraft, which would explain why an hours’ worth of heavy artillery had failed to eliminate a single weather balloon. Conspiracists site a famous L.A. Times photo as extra proof; it seemingly caught searchlights trained on a very un-balloon-like object getting barraged with shells. The next day’s Times ran an editorial on page A1 (“Information, Please”) demanding the Army and Navy release more info, “if only to clarify their own conflicting statements about it.”

The news that aliens might actually be visiting us, regularly and recently, continued New York Magazine reporter team, didn’t provoke terror about a coming space-opera conflict but something much more like the Evangelical dream of the Rapture the same liberals might have mocked as kooky right-wing escapism in the George W. Bush years. “The truth is out there,” former senator Harry Reid tweeted, with a link to the story. Thank God, came the response through the Twitter vent. “Could extraterrestrials help us save the Earth?” went one typical reaction.

Magnets, how do they work? Modern day philosophers Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse were mercilessly mocked for that line back when their song “Miracles” came out in 2010. Yeah, that song is about as goofy as it gets, but here’s the thing: we don’t actually know how magnetism works. We know what makes certain elements magnetic, we know how to magnetize objects, we can measure the strength of a magnetic field, and we can accurately predict what magnets will do, but as to why and how the magnetic force attracts and repels objects, the best answer we have so far is “it just does.” Case in point: the famous scientist Richard Feynman was asked why magnets attract and repel each other and responded with a tirade about broken hips, drunk husbands, and why ice is slippery for 8 minutes, in order to explain why the only reasonable answer is “it just does.”

Magnetism is a constant part of our daily lives in more ways than just hanging things on refrigerators. In fact, if it weren’t for magnetism, we wouldn’t even be here. The magnetic field of the earth, likely generated by the spinning molten metal core of the planet, ripples out from the poles and acts as a shield that protects the earth from solar winds and cosmic rays which would otherwise scorch all life on earth. So magnetism keeps us alive and we’re incapable of understanding it. That’s slightly unsettling, but even more unsettling is that we’re constantly realizing we know even less than we thought, even on a predictive level. We’ve known for some time that it’s possible for the magnetic poles to reverse. This was discovered in 1906 when rocks were discovered that were magnetized in the opposite direction of what was expected. Since then, we’ve assumed that this process occurs rarely and slowly. However, a new study has found that magnetic field reversals can occur much quicker than previously thought.

Geophysicist Andrew Roberts and a team from the Australian National University studied a 107 thousand-year-old stalagmitefound in a cave in China, made up of large quantities of magnetite that provided a detailed look at the magnetic history of earth for the last 107 thousand years. They found that there have been periods of magnetic pole reversal, where north became south and south became north, that lasted for only a few centuries. According to Roberts, this suggests that the process of the reversal was incredibly fast:

“The record provides important insights into ancient magnetic field behaviour, which has turned out to vary much more rapidly than previously thought.”

Which means that there might not be much warning should the magnetic field decide to flip again, an event which, by the way, we’re overdue for. Should the magnetic field flip, it could cause a catastrophic failure of much of the technology that makes modern society work. It seems that the magnetic field reversals occur when the magnetic field is weakened. Although it is currently still strong, it does seem like the magnetic field is in a period of weakening.

The northern lights are the result of our magnetic field protecting us from our murderous sun.

It’s good that scientists are discovering more about yet another global threat, but really, even if they could predict it, is a pole reversal happens that fast, what could we really do about it? Would we pull our satellites out of the sky and re-calibrate them?  Would we make emergency updates to our infrastructure? The amount of pot holes I hit yesterday suggests we’d probably just shrug and say “well, it is what it is.”

“You’re going to the moon!”

One of the most famous lines from the classic TV sitcom “The Honeymooners” involves Ralph Kramden, played by Jackie Gleason, telling his wife Alice, played by Audrey Meadows, where she will end up after he performs an act of domestic violence – a line and act that would not be acceptable today, even though Ralph always calmed down and somewhat apologized with the line, “Baby, you’re the greatest.” That “moon” quote may have been a hidden sign of Gleason’s lifelong interest in UFOs – an interest that showed itself publicly in his two-building home built in in 1959 that looked like a flying saucer “Mother Ship” and a “Spaceship” – Gleason’s nicknames for the mysterious structures. If you’re interested, the property is up for sale for the unearthly price of $12 million. Is it worth it?

The realtor.com listing mentions the price of the New York property but not much on why Jackie Gleason was one of the earliest celebrity ufologists. Despite a fear of flying, Gleason developed a fascination with UFOs and flying saucers, possibly as part of his attraction to parapsychology, witchcraft, extrasensory perception, reincarnation, mental telepathy, clairvoyance and all things paranormal. An avid reader, Gleason amassed a vast library (over 1,700 titles) of paranormal books and materials which now reside in the University of Miami library and are catalogued at LibraryThing. Gleason appeared regularly on a paranormal-themed overnight radio show hosted by John Nebel, where he revealed his skepticism by offering $1 million to anyone who could offer physical proof of aliens visiting Earth.

To the moon!

No one collected the prize, including President Richard Nixon, who is part of possibly the most famous celebrity UFO/alien legend in history. Gleason was a supporter, friend and golf buddy of Nixon, so it’s no surprise they were together in Florida on the night of February 19, 1973. According to the most popular telling of the tale, Nixon ditched his Secret Service detail and drove to Homestead Air Force Base, where they somehow walked in and saw what Gleason described as:

“There were a number of labs we passed through first before we entered a section where Nixon pointed out what he said was the wreckage from a flying saucer, enclosed in several large cases. Next, we went into an inner chamber and there were six or eight of what looked like glass-topped Coke freezers. Inside them were the mangled remains of what I took to be children.”

Gleason allegedly told only his wife (soon to be ex-wife), Beverly, who allegedly promised not to tell and then allegedly told the story anyway to Esquire magazine in 1974. While that story doesn’t seem to exist, another one allegedly told by Beverly appeared in 1983 in the National Enquirer. Gleason allegedly told his version of the story to UFO author Larry Warren shortly before his death in 1987. That’s an “allegedly” because it comes not from Warren but from another ufologist, Timothy Green Beckley. Skepticism abounds in the tale, from the president evading Secret Service agents to the many “alleged” tellings of the story with no concrete evidence. What is concrete is the foundation under the beautiful 7,450 sq ft “Mothership” built for Gleason by a ship builder, who constructed it in an airplane hangar before moving it to Cortland. The round building has no right angles but does have a curved kitchen and a marble spiral staircase. The guest house looks even more flying-saucer-ish (see a photo gallery of both here). While the original construction cost is not listed, Gleason sold the property in 1976 for $150,000, (about $660,000 today)

And yes, Richard Nixon “flew” in Gleason’s Mother Ship, along with Frank Sinatra and other celebrities. Did they talk about what ‘allegedly’ happened one night in 1973 at Florida? That depends on how much booze was consumed. If Nixon asked Gleason if he told anyone, Jackie probably said, “You’re a riot, a regular riot!” or “I’ve got a BIG MOUTH!” or “Homina-homina-homina!”

If tales of crashed UFOs are your thing, then you will probably have heard of the alleged UFO crash on the Berwyn Mountains, North Wales on the night of January 23, 1974. There are rumors of roads cordoned off by military units, of strange bodies secretly taken to Porton Down, Wiltshire, England, and of a huge cover-up to hide the truth. As Wikipedia notes of Porton Down: “Porton Down is a science park, situated just northeast of the village of Porton, near Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. It is home to two British government facilities: a site of the Ministry of Defence‘s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) – known for over 100 years as one of the UK’s most secretive and controversial military research facilities…”

The Berwyn Mountains UFO Crash

Andy Roberts states in his book on the case, UFO Down!: “In 1958 Gavin Gibbons wrote a children’s science-fiction novel By Space Ship to the Moon,which featured a UFO landing on Moel Sych in the Berwyn Mountains of North Wales. Sixteen years later, in a surreal case of life imitating art, those very same mountains would again be the focus for a story involving a downed UFO. But this time, some said, the story was for real.”

Andy is of the opinion that nothing of an extraterrestrial nature came down on the mountain. Rather, he concludes that the affair was a case of mistaken identity. Not a doomed UFO (and its doomed  crew) anywhere in sight. Instead, Andy believes that it was all the result of a localized earth tremor and the presence of a meteor, both roughly at the same time. Back in the late 1980s and through the early-to-mid 1990s, I was quite open to the possibility that there was more to the case than something of a very down to earth nature. But, as time went by, and as more data came along, I began to lean towards Andy’s theory. I still do. But, that doesn’t take away the fact that intriguing tales concerning the incident still continue to appear and circulate.

Berwyn Mountains

As for that saga of alien bodies allegedly found at the (equally alleged!) crash site and transferred to Porton Down, it surfaced in 1996. The source was (unfortunately…and perhaps inevitably…) anonymous. The story was given to the late UFO researcher and police sergeant, Tony Dodd. At the time, Dodd was working with Graham Birdsall’s UFO Magazine. As for that source, Dodd gave him the alias of “James Prescott.” According to Prescott, he was directly involved in the incident: the role of Prescott and his team was to drive a number of alien bodies – in crates – from the mountains and to the aforementioned Porton Down. As is the case with so many tales of crashed UFOs, the Porton Down story stalled, and the source retreated back into the shadows from where he came. Ufology was left with an interesting – but totally unverifiable – story.

Although I think Andy got it right with his meteorite/earth tremor theory, I am still open-minded when it comes to the possibility that something strange may have happened. I don’t, however, think that aliens were the cause of all the fuss. A military event? Maybe. Over the years I have received fourteen accounts from various people (mostly retired U.K. military) who had heard of the Porton Down link years before the James Prescott revelations reared their collective head in 1996. Today, I’ll share with you one of those accounts, with more to follow soon. Regardless of what you may think of the following, the good news is that all of my sources are speaking on the record. No “James Prescott”-type hidden identities here.

“I spent thirty years in the Royal Air Force as an aircraft engineer,” explained Bob Bolton, when I met him in way back in 2000 (and who granted me permission to share his story – and, yes, that is his real name). “I had various postings, including at Akrotiri in Cyprus; RAF Honnington; and at RAF Valley in North Wales from 1971 to 1974. My wife’s family came from Corwen. At the time the thing on the Berwyns happened, they lived up on the side of the mountain and her mom still lives there to this day. From where their house is, if you walk up the path that goes behind the houses up and onto the top of the mountains, you’re talking perhaps a mile and a quarter away from where it all occurred; so it’s not very far away at all.

“Her mom still remembers what happened on the night of 23 January [1974]. She said to me when I spoke to her about it just recently: ‘I saw aircraft and heard aircraft shot down during the Blitz and it was like an aircraft coming down, but the sound was louder, bigger, heavier that anything you could imagine to do with an aircraft.’ They didn’t know what it was. They heard the noise first of all and ran out into the road. They weren’t the only ones: all their neighbors ran out as well. It got louder and louder and louder and they couldn’t see anything in the sky but then they felt the impact where the houses shook and she had things fall off the mantle-piece in the house.

“It was my wife’s dad who told me the story about bodies being found on the mountain. His name was Harold Smith. He had a full-time job with Vauxhall at Elsmere Port; he was a local councilor and was also a part-time Sub-Fire Officer at Corwen. One day we got talking and got on to the subject of UFOs and he said to me: ‘Oh, well, you obviously don’t know about the incident up on the Berwyn Mountains.’

“I first heard the story from him around 1976. At that time he only told me that bodies had been brought down from the mountain and didn’t say anything more. Nothing about who brought them down or where they were taken. But from 1979 to 1982 I was posted to Germany and he came out to stay with us for a month and it was here that he told us a lot more.

“I remember that the information he told us had apparently come from another person in the North Wales Fire Service whose son was in the Army. But it’s not surprising that he would have been told: he was a well-respected man and knew people throughout the North Wales Fire Service, including at Bala and Wrexham. He told me that while the police weren’t involved, the Army was – heavily. I can’t give you an exact date when they visited and he told us this, but it was definitely between 1979 and 1982. He said there were definitely lorries from Porton Down at the scene; that there was a lozenge-shaped object on the mountainside; and that bodies were taken off the mountain and driven to Porton. And, to this day, my wife’s mother can confirm that she was told the story about Porton Down and bodies, too – either in the late 1970s or the early 1980s.

“I do remember him saying that when he had first told me this story in 1976, he didn’t know that it was the Army who had taken the bodies off the mountain and he didn’t know at the time that they’d been taken to Porton Down. So, he must have learned that between 1976 and when he came to see us in Germany.”

The world’s most famous alien abductee, Travis Walton, worked recently as a consultant on a new sci-fi thriller due for release in September this year. According to Variety, the movie, Beyond the Sky, will also feature Walton in a cameo appearance alongside stars Ryan Carnes, Jordan Hinson, Martin Sensmeier, Don Stark and Peter Stormare.

In the movie, writes Variety:

“Carnes portrays a man with a powerful and traumatic connection to alien abductions since his early childhood. He sets out to disprove the alien abduction phenomenon by attending a UFO convention—but then meets Hinson’s character, who claims to have been abducted every seven years on her birthday, and he realizes there may be more to these claims than meets the eye.”

The North American rights to the movie were bought recently by RLJE Films. The company’s chief acquisitions officer, Mark Ward, said:

“The question of if we are alone in the universe is still talked about today. With its unique approach to the story of alien abduction and its great special effects, we are thrilled to be able to bring Beyond The Sky to audiences.”

Travis Walton made headlines in 1975 when the logger from Snowflake, Arizona, claimed to have been taken aboard a flying saucer and to have interacted with two different species of aliens. What distinguishes Walton’s story from innumerable other accounts of cosmic kidnapping is that his apparent abduction was witnessed, in part, by the six other men on his logging crew. Walton played a significant part in bringing to the big screen the 1993 movie based on his own story; he even had a fleeting cameo in the movie as a local townsman. His public profile and association with the abduction mystery has grown to such an extent since then that, in Beyond the Sky, Walton is playing himself.

Beyond the Sky was produced for a meager $1.5 million and was directed by Fulvio Sestito based on a story he wrote with Rebecca Berrih and Warren Thomas. The script was written by Thomas and Marc Porterfield. RLJE plans to release the film in theaters and on VOD and Digital HD on Sept. 21, 2018.

Volgens de berekeningen van NASA heeft asteroïde 2016 NF23 een diameter tussen 70 meter en 160 meter. Om te vergelijken: het atomium is slechts 102 meter hoog. Op z’n grootst is de asteroïde zelfs omvangrijker dan de Piramide van Cheops, die nu ongeveer 129 meter hoog is.

“Potentieel gevaarlijk”

NASA bestempelt de asteroïde als “potentieel gevaarlijk”. Reden tot ongerustheid is er echter niet: het label wil niet meteen zeggen dat er een concreet risico is op een catastrofale aanvaring met de aarde. NASA benoemt alle asteroïden als “Potentially Hazardous Asteroids” of PHA’s van zodra ze op een bepaalde afstand naderen en groot genoeg zijn om serieuze schade aan te richten in het geval van een botsing. Maar zover komt het nog niet. De asteroïde zal volgens de verwachtingen begin september veilig zijn weg door het heelal verderzetten.

In de komende weken zullen verschillende asteroïden zelfs nog dichter langs de aarde zoeven. Het gaat dan wel om veel kleinere exemplaren. De 2016 GK135 bijvoorbeeld, zal de aarde volgende week passeren op ‘amper’ 3 miljoen kilometer en heeft een diameter van 6 tot 14 meter.

Alabama Light

Centre –A few minutes after nightfall, on August 14, 2018, I went outside for a walk in front of my residence. The sky was clear. At 8:26 p.m. I noticed an unusual light approaching from the east. I am well acquainted with seeing aircraft in the night sky, but I realized this object was different. It flashed and pulsated with a white light. Quickly I grabbed my digital camera, since I have experienced multiple UFO sightings. It wasn’t until afterward reviewing the video that I realized the object appeared to be rotating. Also, there was one big light in the middle with two smaller lights – one on top and the other on bottom. It appeared to fly in an upright, vertical position. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Costa Mesa — At 3:30 am I was patrolling one of our accounts when I noticed a triangle object heading east with three lights under it moving at low altitude. I immediately snapped two pictures then the object was gone just like that.
I noticed the object because it had three bright lights under it and was very silent. I did not know what to think but I reported it to my dispatch and added the pictures to the clients report. Colorado Orb

Parker — I was on my flight back home from Tucson, AZ to Denver, CO when I saw out of the window of the plane an orb like object hovering beside the wing of the plane.

I first thought it was something on the window but the UFO moved up and down in the same position.

This made me curious about what this object really is. The object flew past the wing and I never saw it again.

Florida Lights

Daytona Beach – On August 7, 2018, I saw two bright red orbs moving in perfect formation across sky out to sea then disappear. Four others followed at the same distance and disappeared at the same location. These moved across the entire sky and stayed visible for 15 minutes from start to finish. Two planes looked to almost collide with them heading in opposite direction. Red orbs flew NE heading out to sea and disappearing as the rest did. They were very large solid red orbs. Palm Beach Gardens — I saw something on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 7:30 AM, that was so strange I have no idea what it was. I have been following UFOs avidly since 1958 and seen them a few times. I took several photos and several videos of this “object“ or “ phenomenon.“

I noticed a very tiny, dull-black, perfectly round, flat “thing” overhead. After 15 minutes I saw a quick lightning-like discharge but only around the edges. A little later I saw a straight laser beam.

Illinois Orb

Chicago — I was in my back yard getting ready to walk in the house at about 10 pm and a bright light caught the corner of my eye. I turned and saw an orange and pink digital electric orb slow down in my alley.

It saw me and lifted up over the tree .I called my mother out and we both watched it slowly fly away. Last night it came again and I filmed it with my mother. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Michigan’ Light

Petoskey — I got home and was turning off the lights to go to bed when I noticed in the distance a blinking light. When I let the dog out, it was still there. I watched it for a good 10 minutes. It was randomly flashing red, green, blue, and white. I got the binoculars and could see four lights in a row. The center two were randomly flashing colors. I recorded a little of it on my phone. After watching it for 30 minutes or so, the flashing got slower, but it did not move. There was also 2 or 3 times a light shot out from the left side and faded. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Missouri River — I received this pic from a friend of a friend that was deer hunting up on the Missouri River. The pic I received from my friend was so intriguing I felt compelled to post it to see if anyone else witnessed these objects on November 20, 2017. The sun had set 15 minutes earlier. The sun may be reflecting off the bottom of the cloud causing a very cool sun dog-type reflection. Lexington – I was taking a picture of the wine vineyard from our car and the window was down so this is not a reflection.
We took two pictures back to back and as you see it descended quickly. I believe UFOs exist and have heard there are transdimensional ones not seen without digital devices. The images attached are amazing to me.

Pennsylvania Glowing Object

Hazleton — Review of a security camera on the side of my house revealed a glowing object with an irregular travel path. Lights in the background are from another house. I suspected at first a drone, then a flashlight, then perhaps a bird. Friends have viewed the video as well, with no plausible explanation. Object first appears round, then the shape changes as it nears the ground finally coming to rest on a tree. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Pflugerville – On August 13, 2018, Blue/green flashing light that was moving erratically then started flashing brighter red. I was on the balcony having a cigarette, and noticed this flashing light, that was moving odd. I grabbed my phone and started recording it. I was in my backyard around 1:00 AM on August 14, 2018, trying to see if I could glimpse any Presides shower activity. I noticed flashing red and white lights. It turned in a controlled, wide loop then turned around again. The flashing lights were not in a discernible repeating pattern. This object was changing direction often. Russel Island — As children and I got out of the car to go to dinner on August 12, 2018, we noticed a bright glowing object shrouded in clouds in the SE sky. It looked too small for the moon and much too big for stars. It looked like something entering the atmosphere. Very slowly. We watched it for 10 minutes and took photos and videos. Object is visible in photos but invisible in videos..

Brazil Object

São Paulo – It happened in January of 2010, the object was a black cube that followed the electric power transmission lines that go towards Cogon south region of the city. I looked up and saw the object above my house. I was watching and even waved, but I was afraid, fear because the object seemed to me to approach.

I decided to go to the house of my mother who lives in a nearby street. I could see the object slowly following over the tower’s heading south. By coincidence I recently saw the object in the street view on Google. CMS.

Canada Lights

British Columbia — On July 10, 2018, on the way back from a motorcycle trip in the North Okanagan, we stopped one last time in the late afternoon over Lake Okanagan. I took several pictures overlooking the lake, and my fiancée and I did not see anything flying. However, after viewing the pictures on our computer screen, we noticed what appears to be ” orbs”. On closer observation however, the “objects” seem to be of perfect round shapes. They seem transparent green with some reflection from the inside. Thanks to MUFON CMS

France Object

Schmittviller — We were 7 people watching the shooting stars on the terrace of my home facing West.
After sharing pizzas, we cut out all the lights about 10:30 PM and several people saw the object that made me think of a huge space ship. The object looked like a huge T. formed with several “bubbles”.  The color was between gray and white. No noise, no light. The size seemed very big and the altitude was high. The speed was very fast because the observation only lasted between 5 and 10 seconds crossing the sky. It’s a bit like if the international space station passed 2/3 km above the house.  Everyone thought of a gigantic ship or UFO. Vale da Amoreir — On August 14, 2018, I made two pictures of what looked the same yesterday at 10 pm. I was at the window to look at the moon and above it I could see a light, that I was to big to be a star,
Just for a second looked inside my room, when I look back to the moon, to my surprise the light was not there anymore..
Then I look to the left side of the moon, and the same light flashed two times..
Then I thought this is not a star, nor plane

I grab my phone, made some pictures and then 2 small videos..
The object light stayed in the same place for about 10 minutes.  I could see some flashes of red light, and also some yellow as it slowly descended until I stop seeing it, because of some trees. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Biggleswade — I spotted this object  hovering above an airfield in Bedfordshire England on May 1, 2018. Late in the afternoon around 5.25 pm while photographing some gliders performing tows and aerobatics I noticed a very bright star like object high above. It was stationary as far as I could tell and remained visible for some five or six minutes in a very blue and cloudless spring sky. I began to take photos of the object hoping to enlarge the images. I take many aviation photos as a hobby.. After a while the object simply disappeared from view almost as though it had flown away very quickly.
It was star like but later looking at the images noticed it had a structure and either reflective silver like or lit from within. One flew over my garden and when I noticed I thought it to stop and it did….even allowing me to run in the house and grab some binoculars and observe the object closer. I saw the same hovering object  at air show a few years ago .

 My niece was at Trump Turnberry Golf Course and took a picture of the golf course from the balcony of her room on August 16, 2018 at 7:56 pm Scotland time.

She emailed the picture because I like to play golf, and when I looked at it closely I saw 4 strange disk shaped objects in the background which she said she had not noticed when taking the picture.

Can you help me identify these UFO’s? Any ideas?

What happens to your religion if we find extraterrestrial life?

The discovery of life on another planet might seem incompatible with faith in a deity. Yet many theologians are already open to the existence of extraterrestrials, argues the writer Brandon Ambrosino.

In 2014, Nasa awarded $1.1M to the Center for Theological Inquiry, an ecumenical research institute in New Jersey, to study “the societal implications of astrobiology”.

Some were enraged. The Freedom From Religion Foundation, which promotes the division between Church and state, asked Nasa to revoke the grant, and threatened to sue if Nasa didn’t comply. While the FFR stated that their concern was the commingling of government and religious organisations, they also made it clear that they thought the grant was a waste of money. “Science should not concern itself with how its progress will impact faith-based beliefs.”

The FFR’s argument might well be undermined, however, when the day comes that humanity has to respond to the discovery of aliens. Such a discovery would raise a series of questions that would exceed the bounds of science. For example, when we ask, “What is life?” are we asking a scientific question or a theological one? Questions about life’s origins and its future are complicated, and must be explored holistically, across disciplines. And that includes the way we respond to the discovery of aliens.

This is not just an idle fantasy: many scientists would now argue that the detection of extraterrestrial life is more a question of when, not if.

There are several reasons for this confidence, but a main one has to do with the speed at which scientists have been discovering planets outside of our own Solar System. In 2000, astronomers knew of about 50 of these ‘exoplanets’. By 2013, they had found almost 850, located in over 800 planetary systems. That number may reach one million by the year 2045, says David Weintraub, associate professor of Astronomy at Vanderbilt University, and author of Religions and Extraterrestrial Life. “We can quite reasonably expect that the number of known exoplanets will soon become, like the stars, almost uncountable,” he writes. Of those discovered so far, more than 20 are Earth-size exoplanets that occupy a “habitable” zone around their star, including the most recently discovered Proxima b, which orbits Proxima Centauri.

The upshot is that the more we’re able to peer into space, the more certain we become that our planet isn’t the only one suitable for life.

Space exploration leads directly to religious and philosophical questions – Carl Sagan

With few exceptions, most of the discussions about Seti (the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) tend to stay in the domain of the hard sciences. But the implications of Seti extend well beyond biology and physics, reaching to the humanities and philosophy and even theology. As Carl Sagan has pointed out in (the now out-of-print book) The Cosmic Question, “space exploration leads directly to religious and philosophical questions”. We would need to consider whether our faiths could accommodate these new beings – or if it should shake our beliefs to the core.

Working out these questions might be called exotheology or astro-theology, terms defined by Ted Peters, Professor Emeritus in Theology at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, to refer to “speculation on the theological significance of extraterrestrial life”. As he notes, Peters isn’t the first or only one to use the term, which dates back at least 300 years, to a 1714 publication titled ‘Astro-theology, or a Demonstration of the Being and Attributes of God From a Survey of the Heavens’. 

How unique are we?

So what issues might the discovery of intelligent aliens raise? Let’s start with the question of our uniqueness – an issue that has troubled both theologians and scientists. Guiding Seti are three principles, as Paul Davies explains in the book Are We Alone? First, there’s the principle of nature’s uniformity, which claims that the physical processes seen on Earth can be found throughout the Universe. This means that the same processes that produce life here produce life everywhere.

Second is the principle of plenitude, which affirms that everything that is possible will be realised. For the purposes of Seti, the second principle claims that as long as there are no impediments to life forming, then life will form; or, as Arthur Lovejoy, the American philosopher who coined the term, puts it, “no genuine possibility of being can remain unfulfilled”. That’s because, claims Sagan, “The origin of life on suitable planets seems built into the chemistry of the Universe.”

The third, the mediocrity principle, claims that there is nothing special about Earth’s status or position in the Universe. This could present the greatest challenge to the major Abrahamic religions, which teach that human beings are purposefully created by God and occupy a privileged position in relation to other creatures.

In some ways, our modern scientific world was formed by the recognition of our own mediocrity, as David Weintraub notes in the book Religion and Extraterrestrial Life: “When in 1543 C.E. Copernicus hurled the Earth into orbit around the Sun, the subsequent intellectual revolution … swept the discarded remnants of the Aristotelian, geocentric Universe into the trash bin of history.”

The Copernican revolution, as it would later come to be understood, laid the groundwork for scientists, like Davies, to eventually claim that ours is “a typical planet around a typical star in a typical galaxy”. Sagan puts it even more startlingly: “We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.”

But how could a believer reconcile this with their faith that humans are the crowning achievement of God’s creation?. How could humans believe they were the apple of their creator’s eye if their planet was just one of billions?

The discovery of intelligent aliens could have a similar Copernican effect on human’s self-understanding. Would the discovery make believers feel insignificant, and as a consequence, cause people to question their faith?

I would argue that this concern is misguided. The claim that God is involved with and moved by humans has never required an Earth-centric theology. The Psalms, sacred to both Jews and Christians, claim that God has given names to all the stars. According to the Talmud, God spends his night flying throughout 18,000 worlds. And Islam insists that “all things in the heavens and on the Earth” are Allah’s, as the Koran says, implying that his rule extends well beyond one tiny planet. The same texts are unequivocally clear that human beings are special to God, who seems fairly able to multitask.

Second, we don’t reserve the word “special” only for unrepeatable, unique, isolated phenomena. As Peters says, the discovery of life elsewhere in the Universe would not compromise God’s love for Earth life, “just as a parent’s love for a child is not compromised because that child has a brother or sister”. If you believe in a God, why assume he is only able to love a few of his starchildren?

Revelation 

But do the religious texts themselves mention the possibility of alien life? “What is most basic in religion,” writes Catholic priest and theologian Thomas O’Meara, “is the affirmation of some contact within and yet beyond human nature.” For Jews, Christians, and Muslims, this involves a written revelation, albeit one that is contingent upon the specific historical situations in which they initially circulated. The best theologies recognise these limitations. Some don’t, however, and for those believers that adhere to them, the discovery of ETs might prove initially threatening.

Weintraub thinks Evangelicals might have a difficult time with Seti, because they approach their Scriptures with a high degree of literalism. Their hermeneutical heritage extends back to Luther’s Sola Scriptura, a Reformation rallying cry that affirms “Scripture alone” is necessary for understanding God’s plan for salvation. (One notable exception here is evangelist Billy Graham who in 1976 told the National Enquirer he “firmly” believed God created alien life “far away in space”.) These believers maintain that any other writing or idea must be evaluated and judged by the Bible. Take, for example, Darwin’s theory of evolution, which some Evangelicals reject on the grounds that the Bible says God created the world in seven days.

The worldview of these believers might be summed up in the Christian slogan, “God said it, I believe it, that settles it!” Were you to ask one of these Christians if she believed in ET life, her first instinct would probably be to consider what the Bible says about God’s creation. Not finding any positive affirmation of alien life, she might conclude, like creationist Jonathan Safarti, that humans are alone in the Universe. “Scripture strongly implies that no intelligent life exists elsewhere,” he wrote in an article in Science and Theology News. Granted, she might remain open to the discovery of alien life, but she’ll have to revise her notion of divine revelation in one very big way: by tempering it with some epistemic humility. 

Second, she would have to deeply reflect on the concept of the Incarnation, the Christian belief that God was fully and uniquely present in a first-century human called Jesus of Nazareth. According to Christianity, salvation can be achieved only by Jesus’ death and resurrection. All paths to God, in effect, go through him. But what does that mean for other civilisations whirling around out there in the Universe, completely unaware of Jesus’ story?

Thomas Paine famously tackled this question in his 1794 Age of Reason, in a discussion of multiple worlds. A belief in an infinite plurality of worlds, argued Paine, “renders the Christian system of faith at once little and ridiculous and scatters it in the mind like feathers in the air”. It isn’t possible to affirm both simultaneously, he wrote, and “he who thinks that he believes in both has thought but little of either.” Isn’t it preposterous to believe God “should quit the care of all the rest” of the worlds he’s created, to come and die in this one? On the other hand, “are we to suppose that every world in the boundless creation” had their own similar visitations from this God? If that’s true, Paine concludes, then that person would “have nothing else to do than to travel from world to world, in an endless succession of deaths, with scarcely a momentary interval of life”.

In a nutshell: if Christian salvation is only possible to creatures whose worlds have experienced an Incarnation from God, then that means God’s life is spent visiting the many worlds throughout the cosmos where he is promptly crucified and resurrected. But this seems eminently absurd to Paine, which is one of the reasons he rejects Christianity.

But there’s another way of looking at the problem, which doesn’t occur to Paine: maybe God’s incarnation within Earth’s history “works” for all creatures throughout the Universe. This is the option George Coyne, Jesuit priest and former director of the Vatican Observatory, explores in his 2010 book Many Worlds: The New Universe, Extraterrestrial Life and the Theological Implications.

“How could he be God and leave extra-terrestrials in their sin? God chose a very specific way to redeem human beings. He sent his only Son, Jesus, to them… Did God do this for extra-terrestrials? There is deeply embedded in Christian theology… the notion of the universality of God’s redemption and even the notion that all creation, even the inanimate, participates in some way in his redemption.”

There’s yet another possibility. Salvation itself might be exclusively an Earth concept. Theology doesn’t require us to believe that sin affects all intelligent life, everywhere in the Universe. Maybe humans are uniquely bad. Or, to use religious language, maybe Earth is the only place unfortunate enough to have an Adam and Eve. Who is to say our star-siblings are morally compromised and in need of spiritual redemption? Maybe they have attained a more perfect spiritual existence than we have at this point in our development.

As Davies notes, spiritual thinking requires an animal to be both self-conscious and “to have reached a level of intelligence where it can assess the consequences of its actions”. On Earth, this kind of cognition is at best a few million years old. If life exists elsewhere in the Universe, then it’s very unlikely that it’s at the exact same stage in its evolution as we are. And given the immense timeline of the existence of the Universe, it’s likely that at least some of this life is older, and therefore farther along in their evolution than we. Therefore, he concludes, “we could expect to be among the least spiritually advanced creatures in the Universe.”

If Davies is right, then contrary to popular works of literature like The Sparrow, humans won’t be the ones teaching their star-siblings about God. The education will go quite the other way.

Let’s note that this possibility doesn’t invalidate Earth religions’ claims of divine revelation. There is no need to imagine that God reveals the same truths in the same way to all intelligent life in the Universe. Other civilisations could understand the Divine in their own myriad ways, all of which could be compatible with each other.

Identity

But what about the divisions between faiths? How would the discovery influence religious identity? A 1974 story by Phillip Klass, On Venus We Have a Rabbi!, invited Jews, and all religious people, to consider this question. At some point in the future, goes the story, the Jewish community on planet Venus holds the Universe’s first Interstellar Neozionist Conference. In attendance are an intelligent alien species named Bublas, who have traveled from a faraway star named Rigel. The Jews at the conference are bewildered by the physical appearance of the Bulbas, what with their gray spots and tentacles. They decide the Bulbas can’t really be human, and therefore they can’t be Jewish.

A Rabbinical court is called to think about how Jews should respond to their new visitors. What happens, they ask, if some day humans come across alien creatures who want to be Jewish? “Do we say, no, you’re not entirely acceptable?”

The rabbis conclude that isn’t a good response, and suggest a paradoxical way for the Venusians to look at it: “There are Jews – and there are Jews. The Bulbas belong in the second group.” 

The comedy of the story is heightened by what we recognise as a certain tribalism inherent to religion. The announcement of any identity has the potential to split the world into groups: us and them. But when religion is involved, that separation takes on a cosmic dimension: us and them, and God is on our side. This has always been one of the challenges of cross-cultural conversion, which is often tasked with negotiating, though not dissolving, such boundaries.

Perhaps this is a bigger challenge to Judaism and Islam than it is for some forms of Christianity, which place less emphasis on daily rituals than other religions. Think of Islam, which requires its adherents to take up embodied behaviors throughout the year. Unlike Christianity, whose founder eradicated the necessity of location for religious experience, Islam is a very placed religion. Prayers are said facing Mecca, at five specific times throughout the day, and are physicalised through bowing and kneeling. Fasting is required at specific times, as is a pilgrimage to Mecca for all Muslims who are able. Judaism, too, has its own fasts, and – though it’s not a requirement – a concept of pilgrimage, which is its birthright trip, taglit, to the Holy Land. Contemporary Judaism, however, is not as dependent on location as Islam, given its tragic history with exile and diaspora.

What, then, would it take for an alien to be considered a participant in an Earth religion? What would she be required to do? Pray five times a day? Perhaps her planet does not rotate exactly as ours, and her days are much shorter – would she be expected to pray as often as Muslims on Earth? Would she have to be baptised? Receive communion? Build a tent for Sukkot? Though we imagine aliens to have a similar physical structure to us, there’s no reason to believe they have physical bodies. Maybe they don’t. Would that restrict their conversion options?

This may seem to be a bit of frivolous exotheology, but the point is this: all of our religious identities are Earth-centric ones. There’s nothing wrong with that (so long as we don’t collapse the Universe down to our finitude). Here’s how Rabbi Jeremy Kalmanofsky puts it: “Religion is the human, social response to transcendence … Normative Judaism provides an excellent, time-tested path for sanctifying our minds, morals, and bodies, refining us as a people, improving the world, correlating our lives to the infinite God unfolding on the finite Earth.”

His upshot? “I am Jewish. God is not.”

The rabbi’s theory can help us think about our neighbours in outer space, and our neighbours right here on this planet. If religion is a human response to divinity – even if that response is taught and initiated by divinity – then it’s obvious that those responses would differ according to the contexts in which they take shape. If Western Christians can learn to respect the religious experiences of good-willed aliens who are in their own ways responding to the divine, maybe they’ll be able to apply the same principles as they learn to live more peaceably with Muslims on Earth. And vice versa.

“In a billion solar systems,” writes O’Meara, “the forms of love, created and uncreated, would not be limited. Realisations of divine life would not be in contradiction with each other or with creation.”

The end of religion?

If we wake up tomorrow morning to the news that we’ve made contact with intelligent aliens, how will religion respond? Some believe that the discovery will set us on a path the end goal of which will be to outgrow religion. One notable study conducted by Peters found that twice as many non-religious people than religious people think that the discovery of alien life will spell trouble for earthly religion (69% to 34%, respectively).

But it’s ahistorical to assume that religion is too weak to survive in a world with aliens. That’s because, as Peters points out, this claim underestimates “the degree of adaptation that has already taken place.” With few notable exceptions – creationism, violent fundamentalism, gay marriage – religion has often been able to adapt without much fuss to various paradigm shifts it’s encountered. Surely its re-inventiveness, its adaptability is a testament to the fact that there is something about religion that resonates with humans at a basic level.  

Certain aspects of religion will have to be reconsidered, but not totally abandoned, as O’Meara notes. “If being and revelation and grace come to worlds other than Earth, that modifies in a modest way Christian self-understanding” – and, we might add, all religious self-understanding. However, he says, “It is not a question of adding or subtracting but of seeing what is basic in a new way.”

Many religions have always believed God names the stars. Is it really a stretch to believe God names the stars’ inhabitants, too? And that they might possibly each have their own names for God?

Expert says Humans are Aliens—and we were brought to Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago

What if  Humans are the aliens we’ve been looking for all along? According to experts, humans were most likely crossbred with another species, perhaps from the star system Alpha Centauri –which is one of the closest solar systems to Earth—in the distant past, giving birth to modern humans.

Tell Al-Uhaymir modern-day Iraq, where the ancient Sumerian city of Kish used to be, archaeologists found one of the oldest ancient documents on the planet, the tablet of Kish which is believed to date back to the year 3500 BC.

The Sumerian king list states that Kish was the first city to have kings following the deluge, beginning with Jushur.

Jushur’s successor is called Kullassina-bel, but this is actually a sentence in Akkadian meaning “All of them were lord”. Thus, some scholars have suggested that this may have been intended to signify the absence of a central authority in Kish for a time.

This ancient document is believed to precede the cuneiform writing of the Sumerians, and the Egyptian hieroglyphs for almost one hundred years.

Developing the ability to express thoughts through written language is one of the first ways in which man differed from the animal kingdom.

Five thousand years since, humans have developed electricity, divided the atom, developed computers, and led man to the moon. We have achieved things that other species have still not.

No other species on earth can attribute such unique achievements in such a short period of time. Interestingly, compared to other species of the earth, our ‘evolution’ is relatively short.

It has been a short period of time, most likely a few million years since the first hominid walked on Earth. Precisely this is one of the biggest scientific questions of all times: Why have only our species emerged to this truly advanced technological intelligence?

Evidently,  there is nothing more advanced than humans on planet Earth.

While there are different ‘intelligent’ species on Earth, none of them makes use of technology like us.

Just imagine for a second, if for some reason, mankind had to return to the jungle, and survive there. Many experts agree that most of them would not survive for a very long period of time.

Many scientists agree that humans, in addition to their intelligence, are not very capable to occupy a wide range of environments. In other words, we are very limited when it comes to our planet.

In addition to our fascinating intelligence, biologists have also noticed contrasts between human physiology and that of other animals on earth. Many scientists agree that compared to other species on earth, humans are rather strange. For example, a baby horse when born is able to walk and function almost independently, but this a human baby cannot do, which makes us quite helpless. In other words, we are born before being neurologically ready for life.

Many researchers agree that there are many vulnerabilities that accompany our intelligence.

Humans on earth eventually became bipeds, which freed up our superior extremities allowing us to manipulate objects, create tools and much more. But for all this, experts believe that our species has paid an expensive price. Lumbar pain a sign that according to many experts could tell us a lot about our species. Curiously, other animals on Earth do NOT have this problem. It’s as if only humans are affected by some of these problems.

So what does all of this mean? According to one expert, it means that we are the aliens we’ve we been looking for all along.

A new theory proposed by Dr. Ellis Silver states that there are several tell-tale signs present in the human race that suggest human beings did not evolve ALONGSIDE other lifeforms on Earth.

The book called ‘Humans are not from Earth: a scientific evaluation of the evidence’ is basically a resume of theories for and mostly against man’s evolution on Earth. In the book, leading environmentalist and ecologist Dr. Ellis Silver goes through an evaluation of thirteen leading hypothesis and seventeen factors which suggest HUMANS ARE NOT FROM EARTH.

Mankind is supposedly the most highly developed species on the planet, yet is surprisingly unsuited and ill-equipped for Earth’s environment: harmed by sunlight, a strong dislike for naturally occurring foods, ridiculously high rates of chronic disease, and more said Dr. Ellis in an interview.

According to Dr. Ellis, humans might suffer from back pain because our species initially evolved on another planet with a lower gravity, adding to the mysteries, Dr. Ellis also indicates that it is strange that newborns have large heads and make it difficult for mothers to give birth, which can result in fatalities for both mother and child.

So where do we come from? According to Dr. Ellis, Neanderthals were most likely crossbred with another species, perhaps from the star system Alpha Centauri –which is one of the closest solar systems to Earth— in the distant past, giving birth to modern humans.

According to Dr. Ellis, there are millions of people around the globe who ‘feel’ that they do not belong on Earth.

Dr. Ellis explains: “This suggests (to me at least) that mankind may have evolved on a different planet, and we may have been brought here as a highly developed species. One reason for this … is that the Earth might be a prison planet since we seem to be a naturally violent species and we’re here until we learn to behave ourselves.”

Dr. Ellis concludes that mankind did not evolve from that particular strain of life, but evolved elsewhere and was transported to Earth (as fully evolved Homo sapiens) between 60,000 and 200,000 years ago.

Furthermore, as noted by Robert Sepher, according to modern DNA sequencing, it is demonstrated that humanity as we know it, isn’t just ONE single ‘race’ that descended from the same ancestor in Africa, but a hybridized species, with a far more enigmatic truth behind it all.

Many questions have been raised in the discussion about Rh negative blood. If mankind did, in fact, evolve from a mutual ancient African ancestor, theories state that everyone’s blood would be compatible, but regrettably, this is not the case. This raises numerous questions that science alone has not been able to fully answer. Where did Rh-negative blood come from? In our vanity, we think we have discovered some of the great truths of science and technology, but we are in fact only just beginning to rediscover the profound wisdom of past civilizations. Earth’s magnetic poles might flip a lot faster than we thought — and we’re woefully unprepared

Earth can be likened to one big, planetary magnet. Likewise, Earth’s magnetic field is similar to that of a bar magnet tilted 11 degrees from the spin axis of the Earth. The magnetic field serves to deflect most of the solar wind, whose charged particles would otherwise strip away the ozone layer that protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation. But were you to use a compass at varied points throughout history, you would be in for a huge surprise, like seeing the compass’ needle pointing in the opposite direction than expected. When South becomes North and North becomes South, all sorts of unexpected and dangerous things can happen. This has happened many times throughout Earths’ geological history, and a new study suggests that we’re not only overdue for a pole reversal but that such events happen much faster and suddenly than previously thought.

The Earth’s magnetic field looks like that which would be produced by placing a bar magnet at the center of the Earth, with the North Magnetic Pole corresponding to the South Geographic Pole and vice versa. The Earth’s magnetic dipole originates in swirling currents of molten iron deep in the Earth’s core, and extends more than 10 Earth radii, or 63.7 million meters out into space on the side facing the Sun, and all the way to the Moon’s orbit, at 384.4 million meters on the opposite side. Magnetic field lines loop out of the South Geographic Pole and into the North Geographic Pole.

There are currents that guide the molten iron inside the planet’s core and, consequently, the magnetic poles can move or shift over time, losing or gaining strength. Scientists not only know that the magnetic field’s intensity changes over time, but they also know when dramatic shifts in intensity or pole reversal occurred. That’s because such events are recorded in the “frozen” ferromagnetic (or, more accurately, ferrimagnetic) minerals of consolidated sedimentary deposits or cooled volcanic flows on land.

It’s from these records that geologists learned that the last magnetic reversal took place 786,000 years ago. It happened very quickly, too, occurring in less than 100 years.

However, there are also dramatic reversals in field polarity, which occur more frequently. The challenge in pinpointing such events lies in the fact that igneous rocks do not capture the fine movements that lead up to a reversal. Andrew Roberts from the Australian National University (ANU) and colleagues found a workaround by studying stalagmite growing on the floor of a cave in southwestern China. A stalagmite is a type of rock formation that rises from the floor of a cave due to the accumulation of material deposited on the floor from ceiling drippings — given its slow growth, such formations offer the perfect opportunity to study slight variations in Earth’s magnetic field along the years.

The stalagmite, which is one meter in length and eight centimeters in diameter, has a candle-like shape and ranges in color from yellow to dark brown. Researchers cut it into 190 pieces, analyzing each with a high-res cryogenic magnetometer to make a snapshot of Earth’s magnetic field direction and strength as they stood from 107,000 to 91,000 years ago.

Writing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the authors of the new study found a brief pole reversal that occurred about 98,000 years ago and lasted for a century, maybe two. That’s a lot faster than scientists had guessed. Previously, scientists used to think it would take several thousands of years for the poles to change.

“The record provides important insights into ancient magnetic field behaviour, which has turned out to vary much more rapidly than previously thought,” Professor Roberts said.

This is bad news for a technologically-dependent species such as ourselves. Every pole reversal is joined by a weakening of the field and because the field’s intensity is bound to decrease considerably, much more radiation from space will be able to reach the planet’s surface than it does today. However, life on Earth shouldn’t be affected too much by this directly — humanity has lived through several pole reversals and we’re still here. Likewise, there were no mass extinction events coinciding with a pole reversal that scientists could find.

However, much has changed since the last time the planet’s magnetic field weakened by this much. For one, much of our existence is predicated on not only electrical power but also satellite-based communications, which nowadays are synced so much with the power grid that the two are basically inseparable. If our fleet of satellites was to suddenly come offline, much the world could suffer blackouts which could last for years. In the ensuing chaos, it’s anyone’s guess what would happen next.

Even today with Earth’s magnetic field at full strength, solar weather can pose a threat to sensitive electronics.

“Hopefully such an event is a long way in the future and we can develop future technologies to avoid huge damage, where possible, from such events,” Professor Roberts said in a statement.

“Het magnetisch veld van de aarde, dat minstens 3,45 miljard jaar bestaat, biedt een schild tegen de directe impact van zonnestraling”, aldus professor Roberts van de ANU Research School of Earth Sciences. Volgens hem kan een switch grote gevolgen hebben overal ter wereld. Het magnetische veld zou immers zo’n negentig procent verzwakken, waardoor elektronische netwerken verstoord kunnen raken. Ook telecommunicatie, internet, luchttranssport of eender ander welk systeem dat op elektriciteit steunt, kan door de switch onderbroken worden. 

De gevolgen van zo’n verzwakking houden een ernstig risico in voor onze planeet volgens wetenschappers. “Op die manier kunnen immers meer onzichtbare krachten die levende wezens schade kunnen toebrengen of doden onze aarde bereiken”, waarschuwt het rapport. “Bovendien is zelfs het doorspoelen van de wc niet meer vanzelfsprekend”, aldus Daniel Baker, directeur van het Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics aan de University of Colorado. Hij vreest ook dat “delen van de planeet onbewoonbaar worden tijdens de omwisseling”.

Naar verluidt zou dit enkele “miljarden dollars aan schade veroorzaken”. 

Volgens het onderzoeksteam van ANU Research School of Earth Sciences is de impact van zo’n omkering mogelijk zelfs groter dan de zonnestorm die de aarde in 1859 raakte. Een vuurbol spuwde toen een grote plasmawolk uit die in amper 17 uur tijd onze planeet bereikte, waardoor het telegraafnetwerk uitviel. Een omkering van de magnetische polen kan vernietigend zijn voor het hele elektriciteitsnetwerk en alles wat erop aangesloten is.

De laatste magnetische ompoling dateert van 780.000 jaar geleden. We zijn dus al even “overtijd”, klinkt het. Professor Roberts hoopt dat zo’n switch “nog niet in de nabije toekomst zal plaatsvinden”. “We moeten nu nieuwe technologieën ontwikkelen om grote schade te voorkomen”, concludeert hij.

NEW KIND OF AURORA IS NOT AN AURORA AT ALL

WASHINGTON — Thin ribbons of purple and white light that sometimes appear in the night sky were dubbed a new type of aurora when brought to scientists’ attention in 2016. But new research suggests these mysterious streams of light are not an aurora at all but an entirely new celestial phenomenon.

Amateur photographers had captured the new phenomenon, called STEVE, on film for decades. But the scientific community only got wind of STEVE in 2016. When scientists first looked at images of STEVE, they realized the lights were slightly different than light from typical auroras but were not sure what underlying mechanism was causing them.

In a new study, researchers analyzed a STEVE event in March 2008 to see whether it was produced in a similar manner as the aurora, which happens when showers of charged rain down into Earth’s upper atmosphere. The study’s results suggest STEVE is produced by a different atmospheric process than the aurora, making it an entirely new type of optical phenomenon.

“Our main conclusion is that STEVE is not an aurora,” said Bea Gallardo-Lacourt, a space physicist at the University of Calgary in Canada and lead author of the new study in Geophysical Research Letters, a journal of the American Geophysical Union. “So right now, we know very little about it. And that’s the cool thing, because this has been known by photographers for decades. But for the scientists, it’s completely unknown.”

The study authors have dubbed STEVE a kind of “skyglow,” or glowing light in the night sky, that is distinct from the aurora. Studying STEVE can help scientists better understand the upper atmosphere and the processes generating light in the sky, according to the authors.

“This is really interesting because we haven’t figured it out and when you get a new problem, it’s always exciting,” said Joe Borovsky, a space physicist at the Space Science Institute in Los Alamos, New Mexico who was not connected to the new study. “It’s like you think you know everything and it turns out you don’t.”

A different kind of light show

Auroras are produced when electrons and protons from Earth’s magnetosphere, the region around Earth dominated by its magnetic field, rain down into the ionosphere, a region of charged particles in the upper atmosphere. When these electrons and protons become excited, they emit light of varying colors, most often green, red and blue.

A group of amateur auroral photographers brought STEVE to scientists’ attention in 2016. A Facebook ground called the Alberta Aurora Chasers had occasionally noticed bright, thin streams of white and purple light running east to west in the Canadian night sky when they photographed the aurora.

Auroras are visible every night if viewing conditions are right, but the thin light ribbons of STEVE were only visible a few times per year. The light from STEVE was also showing up closer to the equator than the aurora, which can only be seen at high latitudes.

The photographers first thought the light ribbons were created by excited protons, but protons can only be photographed with special equipment. The light protons produce falls out of the range of wavelengths picked up by normal cameras.

The aurora chasers dubbed the light ribbon occurrences “Steve,” a reference to the 2006 film Over the Hedge. When researchers presented data about the unusual lights at a 2016 scientific conference, a fellow space physicist proposed converting the name into the backronym STEVE, which stands for Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement, and the researchers adopted it.

Where does STEVE come from?

Scientists then started using data from satellites and images from ground-based observatories to try to understand what was causing the unusual light streaks. The first scientific study published on STEVE found a stream of fast-moving ions and super-hot electrons passing through the ionosphere right where STEVE was observed. The researchers suspected these particles were connected to STEVE somehow but were unsure whether they were responsible for producing it.

After that first study, of which Gallardo-Lacourt was a co-author, the researchers wanted to find out if STEVE’s light is produced by particles raining down into the ionosphere, as typically happens with the aurora, or by some other process. In the new study, Gallardo-Lacourt and her colleagues analyzed a STEVE event that happened over eastern Canada on March 28, 2008, using images from ground-based cameras that record auroras over North America.

They coupled the images with data from NOAA’s Polar Orbiting Environmental Satellite 17 (POES-17), which happened to pass directly over the ground-based cameras during the STEVE event. The satellite is equipped with an instrument that can measure charged particles precipitating into the ionosphere.

The study’s results suggest STEVE is an entirely new phenomenon distinct from typical auroras. The POES-17 satellite detected no charged particles raining down to the ionosphere during the STEVE event, which means it is likely produced by an entirely different mechanism, according to the authors.

The researchers said STEVE is a new kind of optical phenomenon they call “skyglow.” Their next step is to see whether the streams of fast ions and hot electrons in the ionosphere are creating STEVE’s light, or if the light is produced higher up in the atmosphere.

DIT AANTAL AARDBEVINGEN IS VEEL, ZELFS  VOOR DE RING VAN VUUR...

De USGS, United States Geological Survey, classificeert aardbevingen met een kracht groter dan 4.5 op de schaal van Richter als aanzienlijk. 

Afgelopen zondag vonden er op één enkele dag 53 aanzienlijke aardbevingen plaats in het gebied dat bekendstaat als de Ring van Vuur.

Zo schreven wij onlangs dat advocaat Michael Snyder zich behoorlijk zorgen begon te maken over de toestand in de wereld en zich afvroeg wat er in 's hemelsnaam aan de hand is met onze planeet. 

Michael is nu enige tijd later allesbehalve gerustgesteld, eerder andersom, en vraagt zich nu af waarom er vreemde dingen gebeuren met onze aardkorst. 

Velen kennen de beruchte Ring of Fire, het gebied waar altijd wel aardbevingen voor komen.

Echter, ook hier begint het de spuigaten uit te lopen, want Michael telde alleen al in dit gebied op één enkele dag (afgelopen zondag) 53 aardbevingen met een kracht van 4.5 op de Schaal van Richter of hoger. 

Dan schrijft hij verder hoe hij inderdaad kortgeleden een artikel schreef over de steeds dramatischer wordende aardveranderingen en dat hij nu toch wel heel verrast is over de toenemende seismische activiteit. 

Dit is geheel in lijn met de cijfers die wij enkele dagen geleden publiceerden. Er is niet zomaar een toename van aardbevingen; er is sprake van een spectaculaire toename. 

Terecht vraagt Michael zich dan ook af hoelang het zal duren voordat de grote en lang verwachte aardbeving aan de westkust van Amerika zal plaatsvinden. Dit gebied maakt tenslotte ook deel uit van de Ring of Fire. 

Interessant gegeven is dat ongeveer 90 procent van alle aardbevingen op aarde plaatsvindt ergens op de Ring of Fire en dat 75 procent van de actieve vulkanen in de wereld zich ook bevinden in dit gebied. Dat is op zich natuurlijk goed nieuws voor mensen die niet in dat gebied wonen zoals wij, maar met de manier waarop nu de aardveranderingen toenemen, is straks overal op aarde het nodige vuurwerk te verwachten. 

En hoewel Michael blijft zeggen dat we hier met een uniek wereldwijd fenomeen te maken, weet hij niets aan te dragen als mogelijke oorzaak. 

Iemand die dat uiteraard wel doet is Marshall Masters en nadat op zijn website de dramatische cijfers over toegenomen aardbevingen werden gepubliceerd, heeft hij fase 2 afgekondigd. Die fase houdt in bij hem om nu echt en serieus te beginnen met de voorbereidingen op de komst van de onbekende planeet. Er is geen tijd meer te verliezen.

That evaluation came from the man who is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for the longest continuous monster hunting vigil on the shores of Loch Ness. Have his standards been lowered, is he getting desperate or is a photograph taken by a 12-year-old tourist really one of the best Loch Ness monster photos of all time? More importantly, is it the Loch Ness monster?

“This is just the image we have been waiting for – for years. Congratulations Charlotte. I am totally excited by it.”

“Charlotte” is Charlotte Robinson from Leeds who was on vacation with her family this week in Scotland when she took the photograph that elicited those platitudes from Steve Feltham. Who has been interested in the Loch Ness monster since age seven and has “sat watching and waiting on the shores of Loch Ness full time since 1991 for one decent sighting of the monster,” according to his website which proclaims him “Nessie Hunter.” If longevity counts, he’s earned it. If proof counts, it’s no wonder he gets excited at small black dots in photographs of Loch Ness. (See Charlotte’s here and here and here — they’re all the same but hey, it’s the “best” in years.)

“There was something in the water about 50 feet from the shore. I took a photo. It had a neck and head was in the shape of a hook. I just took what I saw. It was black – I just don’t know how far it was out of the water. I’m not good at judging distances. But after about a minute it disappeared and then came back up again in a different place. It was up for less than a minute the second time. I kinda believed in Nessie, but I wanted to see the proof. I always imagined her as having a long neck and flippers.”

So did we, Charlotte, so did we. We also imagined we’d get better pictures once everyone on the planet began carrying smartphones, especially 12-year-olds who were probably taking selfies the day they were born. However, the photo in the Daily Record isn’t much to look at. Even Steve Feltham, who called it the best he’s seen in years, hedged his bets by commenting on its clarity, but not its authenticity.

“There is clearly a solid object in it and it is relatively clear. It warrants further study. There may be a mundane explanation such as a seal, but I have not heard of a seal in the loch this year. For my money it is larger than a seal or an ottter.”

Yes, and? (For you improv fans.)

“But when I saw the picture, I couldn’t believe it. Something’s there. With all the sightings over the years there must be something in the loch.”

Unfortunately, that comment is not from Nessie expert Feltham but from Charlotte’s proud mum, Kat, who naturally thinks her child has taken the best and most authentic Nessie photo ever – suitable for hanging on the refrigerator and entering in the Loch Ness monster photo contest held annually by the Inverness Courier, which offers a $2,000 prize for the submitted photo that is accepted by the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings’ Register and garners the most fan votes.

Back in the mid-to-late 1990s, Robin Cole was someone who dug deep into one specific aspect of the UFO phenomenon (he was part of a now-closed group called Circular Forum). Cole focused his attention on the connection between UFOs and the U.K.’s Government Communications Headquarters, better known as GCHQ. It’s the U.K.’s equivalent of the United States’ National Security Agency. Wikipedia state: “The Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is an intelligence and security organization responsible for providing signals intelligence (SIGINT) and information assurance to the government and armed forces of the United Kingdom.”

Wikipedia continues: “Based in ‘The Doughnut’ in the suburbs of Cheltenham, GCHQ is the responsibility of the country’s Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, but it is not a part of the Foreign Office and its director ranks as a Permanent Secretary. GCHQ was originally established after the First World War as the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS) and was known under that name until 1946. During the Second World War it was located at Bletchley Park, where it was responsible for breaking of the German Enigma codes. Currently there are two main components of the GCHQ, the Composite Signals Organization (CSO), which is responsible for gathering information, and the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), which is responsible for securing the UK’s own communications.”

Robin Cole, of Cheltenham, England, spent a great deal of time addressing the matter of GCHQ and UFOs. To the extent that, in 1997, he published a report that detailed his extensive research in this seldom-addressed area. Cole cultivated sources from GCHQ, secured data on UFO cases secretly investigated by staff at the agency, and learned that GCHQ had a large library of books on the UFO subject. But, there was more, too. As a result of his investigations, Cole was visited by personnel from the U.K. Police Force’s Special Branch, who wanted to know all about his work, which had him worried or a while. You can find out more on Cole and his GCHQ-UFO discoveries in his self-published report, GCHQ and the UFO Cover-up (which, unfortunately, is hard to find now).

In the summer of 1997, I did an extensive interview with Cole about his research. A substantial amount of that interview has never been published, specifically at Cole’s request. On those matters which he did feel comfortable about speaking, Cole told me he had been able to confirm that GCHQ has in its files details of actual attempts by the Royal Air Force to intercept UFOs in British airspace. He stated of one such example, from the early 1950s:

“This came to me off-the-record from an informant who was told of the events at the time. Pilots from what used to be RAF Little Rissington, were out on maneuvers when in their sights, an object similar to the descriptions of a flying saucer came into view. Receiving permission to go after the object, they then kept in constant contact with the RAF base. Radar control had the object on screen and heading towards Cornwall. At this point one aircraft returned – the reason is unclear – while the other continued. On reaching the coast the unidentified object put on tremendous speed leaving the pilot and his aircraft well behind. This was also noted on radar. Realizing he had no chance of catching up the pilot simply returned and was debriefed accordingly. GCHQ were fully aware of this event.”

But why would GCHQ take an interest in this particular encounter? “My knowledge,” said Cole, “comes from the person who typed the document up at the time, and they were from inside GCHQ. I don’t think that GCHQ had a department which collated UFO information on a regular basis at that time – the early 1950s; however, it’s clear from my investigations that on occasion GCHQ did play a role in the subject and did come across interesting cases and asked themselves: Is this some form of alien intelligence that we’re not aware of? The way in which GCHQ became involved in the 1952 case is this: because a large part of their work deals with Signals Intelligence – the collection of data – it was that GCHQ picked up on the various messages passing back and forth from the aircrew and RAF Little Rissington. In other words, GCHQ intercepted the conversation.”

What is particularly significant about this case is that the UFO investigator Dr. David Clarke was able to officially confirm its reality, years later. Clarhe also succeeded in tracking down one of those aboard the aircraft in question. That man was then-Flight Instructor Michael Swiney, who told Clarke: “I got the fright of my life because there appeared to be, smack in front of the aero-plane, three circular objects.”

As Clarke noted: “In 2001 [Swiney] broke fifty years of silence to reveal the full story after I discovered a reference to the incident in the operations records books stored at The National Archives.” Indeed, this was supported by an entry in the Operations Record Books at the Central Flying School, which stated: ‘Flight Instructor M.J.E. Swiney, instructor, and Lieutenant D. Crofts, R.N., student, sighted three mysterious ‘saucer shaped objects’ traveling at high speed at about 35,000’ whilst on a high level navigation exercise, in a Meteor VII. Later, A.T.C.C. Gloucester reported radar plots to confirm this, but Air Ministry discounted any possibility of “extra terrestrial objects.'”

It is important to stress that it was years after Robin Cole discussed privately with me his knowledge of this case – acquired direct from a source connected to GCHQ – that Clarke was finally able to verify its reality. This would strongly suggest that Cole’s informant was truthful, reliable and did have access to classified, insider evidence pertaining to the UFO mystery. Cole had other sources, and information, too.

It’s unfortunate that Cole no longer pursues the UFO-GCHQ issue.  He was on the verge of significant developments.

There’s nothing quite like an old fashioned livestock mutilation to get the imagination going. For decades, reports of strange and unexplained injuries on dead animals have baffled ranchers and veterinarians alike, and have even attracted the attention of the FBI. Livestock mutilations and reports of UFOs sometimes go hand-in-hand, as unexplained lights often accompany these grisly discoveries. Often, mutilated animals are found drained of their blood, organs having been removed with high levels of precision. Even stranger, there are often no traces of blood or violence to be found surrounding the animals. What could be behind these mutilations?

If reports out of India are true, some type of “mysterious animal” may be responsible. Could an Indian version of the Chupacabra be on the loose? I sure hope so. Over the last year, several incidents of unexplained animal mutilations have rocked the countryside of India’s eastern state of Odisha, sending farmers into a panic. In some of the cases, the animals are reported as having been drained of their blood as in other mutilations.

Placid, docile sheep are common targets of these anomalous mutilations.

The latest incident comes out of Bhanjanagar, Odisha, not far from where other mutilations have been reported. Witnesses claim ten sheep were found dead with their intestines missing. Some of the sheep were found in village streets, while others were killed and mutilated in their pens. After discovering his sheep, one local farmer reported finding “deep nail indentations on their neck parts pointing at a predator attack.” It is believed that the dead animals were dragged into the village streets after their brutal slaughter.

Local wildlife and forest officials are still investigating these brutal and unexplained killings, but have yet to identify a possible culprit other than claiming a “mysterious animal” is responsible. Anomalous big cat sightings are on the rise worldwide, with a few even reported in India. Might a large cat thought to be extinct or non-native to this area be responsible? We like to think of the natural world as a static background for our human activity, but all of that activity is met by opposite and equal reactions on the part of the animal kingdom and the rest of nature. Might endless human development be driving new predators into contact with livestock, or is something stranger happening here?

UFO shoots away from Mars surface and drops drone out, NASA link, Aug 2018, UFO Sighting News.

I was looking over the newest batch of Curiosity Rover photos on the NASA site and found something in the sky that NASA over looked. At first I thought it was a meteor, then I realised the darker end was the front and the lighter end was its tail, so this object was coming from the Mars surface! 

 

Also it appears that the object dropped off part of itself. If you look at the screenshot above, you will notice a small black dot below it. The UFO dropped off a small exploration orb and it was caught on NASA camera. I now understand why NASA didn't want to report this to the public.

UFO Partly Visible Terrifies Village Residents Apeu, Brazil, Aug 15, 2018, Videos, UFO Sighting News.

Residents in a small village in Brazil were terrified when they looked up in the sky and saw a giant black ring moving below the clouds. As the ring passed overhead, residents prayed to Jesus and cried out in Spanish, as you can see in the videos. 

 

Also the rings edges disappeared when there was a blue sky background, but became visible again when a white cloud was in the background. Look at the gif I made below of it moving to understand. The UFO was cloaked, yet for some unknown reason its edges were visible! Within a a few minutes the UFO had vanished 100% leaving the residents wondering what it was and why was it over their village.

Residents were frightened by this unidentified ring-shaped object, which was flat in the sky on Wednesday afternoon, in the village of Apeú, in the municipality of Castanhal, northeast of the state. Many did not know what to say about the phenomenon, which called everyone's attention with a cell phone in hand, to register the object that appeared out of nowhere and disappeared within minutes. The scene brought everyone to the street to film the possible unidentified object, which coincides with the area near the municipality of Colares in northeast Pará.

Strange Footage Shows Cigar-Shaped UFO Above An American Lake

A clip of an unidentified flying object over a US lake sparks speculations of the presence of alien life on Earth.

In the footage, a man is recording a video of a lake using his mobile phone. All of a sudden a UFO came into view that convinced him he had seen an extraterrestrial ship.

As he turns his camera around, the cameraman says “Hey! This is a spacecraft!”

A silver lining can be seen floating above the water.

When the clip is slowed down, it shows a clearer picture of the object, which looks like a cigar over the tree line.

The video was reportedly taken at Lake Norman, North Carolina in the US. YouTube channel The Hidden Underbelly 2.0 shared the clip online.

The footage re-fueled the debates on whether there’s extraterrestrial life on Earth.

Many believe this is a substantial proof that many of space aliens are here and they are among other things on Earth. They say there’s more going on than the public know.

Some users say that the clip is a great catch.

However, some have other ideas saying that the UFO is an advanced military aircraft.

The Most Unusual UFO In Years, The All Seeing Eye In The Sky…

Presented for your viewing pleasure is the most unusual UFO captured on camera in many years. The footage was shot in Lima Peru June 11 and it starts out normal enough with a strange light in the sky. As the cameraman zooms in things start to get very strange.

Inside the sarcophagus: Will the curse be unleashed in the future?

There has been plenty of evidence throughout history that ancient Egyptian mummies can be the source of dreadful curses for those who dare to interfere with them. Here are just two examples from the past fifty years.

In 1972, the antiquities director at the Museum of Cairo died after he handled artifacts from King Tutankhamun’s tomb that were being sent to the British Museum for an exhibition. In 2004, a German tourist took an ancient relic as a souvenir from the Valley of the Kings. Soon after returning home, he developed a fever and died.

Archaeologists Defy the Curse

With the mounting evidence of so many stories, it is little wonder that many people have been fearful about opening a 2000-year- old dark granite sarcophagus that was found in Alexandria earlier this year. Initially, there was considerable speculation that the massive black box would contain the remains of a wealthy powerful citizen or even Alexander the Great himself. Its opening on July 19 by archaeologists proved to be somewhat of an anti-climax; however, a whole new set of mysteries have been created.

Skeletons and Sewerage

The opening of the sealed sarcophagus revealed three adult skeletons submerged in murky sewerage water. A petition was even started by people who wanted permission to drink the water, believing that it could bring them special powers. It is speculated that the three occupants are likely to be warriors, judging by wounds that appear to be evident.

One skeleton sports a particularly interesting feature in the form of a hole in the skull. Early reports suggest that this is the result of an ancient type of surgery called trepanation. Archaeologists are excited by this discovery because, although the surgery had been used for thousands of years to treat cranial conditions, it was extremely rare in Egypt. A hole was created in the person’s skull, either by drilling or scraping, in order to relieve swelling or release evil spirits. The procedure still has medical uses today.

The results of the archaeological studies carried out by a team of researchers from the Ministry of Antiquities on the skeletons found inside the black granite sarcophagus uncovered early last month in Sidi Gaber district in Alexandria.

Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary- General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities announces that the preliminary studies carried out by a team of researchers headed by Dr. Zeinab Hasheesh, Director of the Department of the Skeleton Remains Studies at the Ministry of Antiquities, have determined the gender, and age of the skeletons found inside the Alexandria sarcophagus, according to the anatomy of the skulls, pelvis and longitudinal bones through anthropological examination. 

He added that the team had also found gold sheets within the bones of the skeletons and are now subjected to study.

Dr. Nadia Kheider, Head of the Central Department of Antiquities of Lower Egypt said that the first skeleton belongs to a woman between the age of 20 to 25 years old, with a height around 160 to 164 cm. The second one belongs to a man between the age of 35 to 39 years old, with a height ranging between 160 to 165.5 cm while the third skeleton is for a man between the age of 40 and 44 years old and its height was between 179 to 184.5 cm

She pointed out that studies on the right bone located on the back area of the skull shows a rounded cavity of 17 cm wide which reveals that the owner of this skull has survived a long period with this cavity. This means that the cavity is a result of a surgery.

Dr. Hashish said that this probably the “Trepanation” surgery where a burr hole is drilled or scraped into the human skull.

“This surgery is the oldest surgical intervention ever known since pre-history but was rare in Egypt,” Hashish said.

She added that few skulls with this surgery were found in Egypt among those found in Qasr Al-Eini Hospital museum and both skulls found in Maya and Merit’s tombs in Saqqara Necropolis. 

Dr.Waziri explains that most probably the burring processes inside the sarcophagus were carried out on two consecutive phases as every skeleton was found on top of one another.

Dr. Ayman Ashmawy, Head of the Ancient Egyptian Antiquities Sector said that the researchers have cleaned all the remains found inside the sarcophagus and archaeologically documented all the bones and skulls as well as the gold sheets.

He pointed out that the strange color of the water found inside the sarcophagus is probably resulted from the mixing of the sewage water that filled the sarcophagus with the remnains of the skeletons’ wrappings which have been decomposed from the sewage water.

Now, Dr. Ashmawy said, several analyzes are carried out on the water to uncover more about its components.

Dr. Waziri asserted that more researches and studies are carried out as well as DNA tests and Ct-Scans on the bones of the skeletons to know more about them and whether they have any familial relationship.

It's NASA Official: The Moon Has Water Ice Deposits in Its Frozen Craters

Since the 1960s, scientists have theorized that there might be frozen water in the moon’s cold, dark craters. Subsequent lunar missions only detected hintsof water, which supported the theory but could also have been explained by other phenomena. On Monday, however, NASA confirmed for the first time that water does exist on the moon, citing definitive evidence of ancient deposits of ice intermittently spread within the most unforgiving parts of its polar regions.

The scientists working on the water-seeking mission formally announced their discovery in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The revelation is based on data collected by NASA’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) instrument, which was attached to India’s Chandryaan-1 spacecraft, a lunar probe that launched in 2008. M3, designed to scan for evidence of solid ice on the moon, identified three spectral signatures that NASA say “definitively prove” there is water ice.

Think of these ice deposits as the last place you’d want to go swimming. Because of the tilt of the moon’s rotational axis, the patches of ice at its southern and northern poles are never directly hit by sunlight. In other words, it’s brutally cold: The scientists estimate that in the craters where the ice is rooted, temperatures never reach above -250 °F.

The discovery not only confirms a long-standing theory but also offers a glimmer of hope to those banking on future moon colonies. In an announcement on Monday, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory stated that “With enough ice sitting at the surface — within the top few millimeters — water would possibly be accessible as a resource for future expeditions to explore and even stay on the moon, and potentially easier to access than the water detected beneath the moon’s surface.”

If the moon has enough water, says NASA, future space colonists can either drink it or convert it into hydrogen and oxygen for rocket fuel or to breathable oxygen. While Mars (where there’s also evidence of liquid water) has been the main focus of space colony hype, some astrobiologists argue that future colonies in deep space will all have to build off initial successes on the moon.

These moon colonies, according to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, could be established within five years. In July, Bezos announced that his Blue Moon Project aims to establish a colony on the moon as early as 2023. No matter how much money Bezos pours into the colony, if it’s going to thrive, it will need to have water.

“We are well aware that the word humanoid is not in the dictionary;” wrote Charles Bowen, editor of the United Kingdom’s world-renowned Flying Saucer Review, “that it was coined somewhere along the line by a writer or researcher. Nevertheless it seems to suit our purpose far more than those other words of anthropology like hominid, which means kin of man (Neanderthal man was one of these) and hominoid, which means man-like ape.” These were the words that formed part of his foreword to Gordon Creighton’s anthology of cases from around the world entitled – what else? – The Humanoids (Chicago: Henry Regnery, 1969). This far-reaching book, published only a few years after it became acceptable to speak openly about the possibility of UFOs having occupants. Bowen also drops the hint that Dr. Edward Condon and his committee had access not only to The Humanoids and issues of FSR in assisting with their evaluation of the phenomenon.

The cases contained in the book are of another age and are widely known to the audiences interested in the field, but its perhaps hard for modern readers, particularly those who are newly arrived to the field, to imagine a time when even believers in “flying saucers” preferred not to deal with the possibility of beings stepping out of these lights or craft or projections. Two years before FSR’s book on the project, Coral and Jim Lorenzen published Flying Saucer Occupants, covering the best-known cases of the time on all continents and making an effort at interpreting and evaluating them (including a psychological interpretation of cases by Dr. R. Leo Sprinkle). One of these conclusions stands out nearly fifty years later: “In rare instances we may examine a report of UFO occupants which involves an observer who is sound of mind, has a stable emotional structure, an artist’s eye for observation and whose experience takes place under ideal lighting conditions.”

Sharp-Dressed Spacemen

As has been exhaustively documented in many other places, UFO research – or more specifically, UFO culture – owes a great deal to science fiction, particularly when it comes to the conceptualization of vehicles and occupants. The notion of the “silver-spacesuited alien” so common to early occupant reports and contactee chronicles may owe a lot to the iconic vision of Michael Rennie’s Klaatu descending from his spaceship in The Day The Earth Stood Still, or at a later date, the widely circulated promo photos of the Robinson family in CBS’s Lost in Space, coolly posed in silver one-piece outfits with red piping and boots to match.

In real life, the vision of the silver-suited astronaut was turned iconic by the Friendship 7 astronauts, wearing their Mylar-covered spacesuits developed from the pressure suits used by pilots on stratospheric flights. Changes would later be made to the silver spacesuit by the time the Gemini Project rolled around, allowing for greater mobility under pressurization than the Mercury Project original. The need to perform extra-vehicular activities (EVA) and eventual lunar landings caused new suits to be developed and the striking silver outfit to be relegated to museums.
It appears, however, that ufonauts did not receive the memo. Reports of humanoid occupants in silver suits remained unabated, even up to quite recent times.

Dr. Anthony Choy, one of Peru’s best known researchers, looked into one of these cases as recently as 2002, this time in the community of San Bartolomé in the Peruvian highlands, specifically in the province of Huarochirí, several hours to the north of Lima, the capital city. The picturesque town is known for its variety of fruit trees and otherwise excellent weather, boasting nearly year-round sunshine, filled with forests (Bosque de Zarate being the best known) and abundant wildlife. Not a grim or ominous location in the least.

The case involved two witnesses, the main one being Luis "Lucho" Rojas Povis, 51, a toll booth operator who happened to be outdoors at two o’clock in the morning with his best friend when both men became aware of “two figures” making their way down the slopes of Cerro de la Pascua, clad in silvery outfits. Initially, the onlookers did not find anything unusual about them, believing them to be mountain climbers or official personnel in outlandish protective gear. As the figures approached there was the awful realization that things were not quite as normal as expected.

The entities were described as having “an athletic build, slender and tall” with form fitting silver outfits. Their faces looked human, but their eyes were described as “shining”, and they didn’t walk as much as float above the ground. They did not utter a single word.

Astonished beyond belief, Rojas and his friend walked up to the strange new arrivals; the friend even reached out to touch the face of one the entities to see if it was “real”. One of the entities slapped the probing hand away, shocking the human.

“Hey, why are you messing with my buddy?” the toll booth operator challenged the creature, according to Dr. Choy’s interview. But what could have become the first mano-a-mano between humans and non-humans (since the 1954 case involving José Ponce and Gustavo González in Venezuela) was interrupted by the unexpected arrival on the scene of a taxicab whose passenger and driver were about to become the next set of witnesses to the mind-bending situation.

Beatriz García, 34, had just taken a taxicab back to San Bartolomé at that late hour from the town of Ochocica, where a fair had been held that day. Agreeing to pay the driver a rather high fee for the journey home, Ms. García was startled to see “a man made of pure tin, or dressed in aluminum” standing at the edge of the road. She was only able to see one figure, but could not say if it was the entity that slapped away the man’s effort to touch its visage. The driver became very agitated by the unearthly sight, and his nervousness caused her not to look very closely at the being, while having noticed its “brilliant” eyes. During the interview with Anthony Choy, she estimated that a distance of ten meters separated her from the entity, which appeared to be “walking back and forth, two steps forward, two steps back, but actually floating in the air.” She coincided with Rojas’s description of the creature’s dress, the form fitting nature of the outfit, its helmet and general build. 

Some will dismiss this incident as another “colorful” Latin American case (the dictionary definition of the word is “full of interest; lively and exciting”, but tends to be interpreted as “patently untrue” on the lips of a skeptic!) but the strange motion of the single helmeted being witnessed by Beatriz García has been mentioned in many case histories. Dr. Frank B. Salisbury also noted this in his foreword to the Lorenzens’ Flying Saucer Occupants mentioned above: “These beings may sometimes walk like normal people, but they may also move with “sliding motions” or a tottering gait.” 

A silvery-suited "humanoid child" is at the center of a highly complex "Julio" case of 1934, re-opened by Magdalena del Amo-Freixedo in the late 1990s."...the girl had a pinkish complexion and wore a silvery suit. She was small, like one of our six year-old girls, with platinum blonde hair. I don't remember the color of her eyes,” said the experiencer. More ominous is the tall figure with empty eye-sockets that played a role in the 1973 case involving a Puerto Rican housewife. The entity - humanoid in shape, towering and wearing a tight silver outfit - projected the words "cerakia ovnit" into the terrified experiencer's mind, words whose meaning remains a mystery forty years later.

Another entity seen in the Spanish province of Zamora in 1974 was described by the percipient as being over six feet tall, with arms held closely to the sides of its body, and having an overall "military" bearing. It was also noted that the creature appeared to have been "made of silver" and glided away into a hill when the witness pressed his hunting dogs to attack it. Guillermo Giménez of Argentina's Planeta UFO looked into a case that occurred in Necochea, Argentina in February 1988, involving entities wearing tight-fitting costumes. "The fact is that they'd go completely unnoticed among us if they wore normal clothes and not those silver coveralls," noted the interviewee.

Regarding the "slap" with which one of the San Bartolomé humanoids responded to the human's urge to touch its features, it is worth remembering what Argentinean researcher Roberto Banchs noted in his own monograph, La fenomenología humanoide en Argentina(Servicio de Investigaciones Ufologicas, August 1977): "Social behavior is sometimes misinterpreted, leading matters to such a state of confusion that any action on part [of the intruders] is deemed hostile. It is imperative to analyze all physical and psychological factors before a conclusion can be reached."

A Skywatch Interrupted

Three summers before the incident involving the San Bartolomé humanoids, a skywatcher in neighboring Chile had his own brush with the unknown. Enrique Bermúdez had driven to the outskirts of Punta Arenas, which aside from boasting the privilege of being Chile’s southernmost community, the city on the Brunswick Peninsula is also one of the largest one in the Patagonian Region. The clear skies above beckon to skywatchers and amateur astronomers, or simply anyone wanting to enjoy the unspoiled night air. It had also become famous in flying saucer circles for a famous “radar confirmation” case involving a warning issued by an air traffic controller to a passenger plane, advising it to be aware of unknown traffic in the area.

Bermudez had no idea that he was about to enter the pages of UFO lore on September 22, 1997. The man were startled to hear a strange sound outside, and upon turning off the headlights to eliminate the glare, he could see short humanoid figures running around the vehicle. According to the description given to researchers, the entities were “small, standing around one meter tall, with long arms and oversized heads,” but their facial features were could not be clearly seen in the darkness. 

A total of eight short beings now surrounded his car, besieging him behind the wheel for an estimated 40 minutes. When they finally ran off into the forest, the witness started the car and drove away.

He would return – bravely – a week later with a researcher from Chile’s AION group, Dr. Carlos Muñoz, who had joined the organization in 1996 and become one of its most active field investigators. Both men descended from the vehicle and were startled to see a truly unusual sight: a source of light resembling a red neon tube was hovering in the darkness some twenty meters away from them, pulsating as it did so. Muñoz lifted his camcorder to shoot footage of the uncanny phenomenon, but to his surprise, the light source did not appear in the viewfinder.
Bermudez and Dr. Munoz found their nerve beginning to fail them. They re-entered the car and drove away from the forest.

Soccer-Field Humanoids

On June 4, 1978, two brothers – Juan and Héctor Juárez , ages 10 and 8 respectively– were walking back home from school to their humble home in the El Corito neighborhood of Ciudad Cárdenas in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. As the boys walked past Zaragoza Street, they saw activity in the empty field that served as a makeshift soccer pitch. Other children of around their age seemed to be engaged in frantic activity, and not wanting to be left out, Juan and Hector walked down the street and on to the empty field. While separated by a distance, the boys were suddenly realized that the figures were not their neighbors or classmates having a post-school day game of futbol, but something they’d never seen before.

The figures were not children, although their height was comparable to boys their age. The two brothers found themselves facing between fifteen and twenty creatures darting around the field. Far from fleeing in terror, Juan and Héctor approached, curiosity getting the better of them, and making an uncanny discovery: the kid-sized figures’ feet did not touch the ground. They darted on air, moving as if on roller-skates. Some of the creatures – with devices on their backs that the two brothers could not recognize – interrupted their play to look at the humans. Something, in retrospect, the Juarez Brothers wished they had not done.

The creatures had humanlike features – the faces of adult humans on childish bodies – but their oval heads had eyes set so close together as to make them resemble the legendary Cyclops. Terrified by the sight, Juan and Héctor broke into a mad dash for the imaginary safety of Zaragoza Street, and the prospect of reaching their home. Héctor tumbled to the ground a few times, weighed down by the contents of his book bag.

There are contradicting sources as to what happened next. In one version, the beings took to the air, flying up and away , enveloped in a white light, as if though having been spotted by the young humans marked the end of their escapade. In another, the boys ran to their home, only to find their mother standing outside, gazing skyward at a strange light in the sky that “looked like the sun” due to its brightness, thinking that “strange birds” were flying in the air toward the light, unaware that they had taken flight precisely from the field that her two children were running home from. 
“They frightened us,” said one of the boys, “sent us into a panic. My mother was able to see them from the entrance to our house.”

The mother contacted the authorities and law enforcement agents questioned the boys, asking if they had slept well the night before the incident and if they “knew anything about UFOs or extraterrestrials”, questions to which the youths replied yes and no, respectively. Pressed by the uniformed grown-ups as to what they had seen, one of the brothers piped up: “Some children, but they weren’t like us.”

There was no follow-up to the astonishing account and the percipients were never heard from again, despite the inquiries made by two separate Mexican UFO research groups. For some reason, an alternate date of March 30, 1979 appears as the date of the event in some sources, questioning the veracity of the whole ordeal. The truth of the matter lies with two boys – now men in their Forties – who are probably still trying to put the nightmare behind them.

A Quiet Evening Stroll

The warm temperature and spectacular starry skies on the evening of June 15, 1974 were enough of an enticement to prompt to neighbors – Dolores and Marisa – to go for a nocturnal stroll in their town of Manzalvos, in the Galician province of Ourense (Spain). The two friends had no idea that their spur-of-the-moment constitutional would land them in the pages of the chronicles of the unknown. Veteran ufologist Marcelino Requejo, who had relatives in that community, included the experience in his book OVNIS: Alto Secreto(Ediciones Cydonia, 2009). He was able to pay a visit to the community and interview the experiencers in person.

Inspired by the warm night, the friends decided to walk beyond the outskirts of Manzalvos and enjoy the breathtaking firmament above. As they walked, Dolores and Marisa became aware of two intensely bright red lights descending from the dark sky in complete silence, eventually landing at the foot of a hill a few hundred meters from where they walked. The lights went dark, and the friends were startled to see the appearance of a bright yellow horizontal light in the middle of the darkness. “The light,” writes Requejo, “expanded until it formed a perfect triangle of enormous size.”

The friends were further shocked to see two humanlike silhouettes, perfectly black, emerging from either end of the oblong light, walking slowly toward each other, their paths crossing in the middle of the light and each heading in the opposite direction from which it had first emerged. What astounded Dolores was that the silhouettes walked with the precision of “soldiers standing guard in front of a building.” This maneuver repeated itself for a few minutes while both friends, now patently terrified by the enigma playing out before their eyes, sought shelter behind the corner wall of a village alleyway. Even more astonishing to them was the fact that the luminous oblong shape began to collapse inward on itself, becoming once more a thin, bright light that vanished into the dark. The two powerful red lights reappeared at the either end of what had been the rectangle and slowly rose into the air, before lurching suddenly into the starry night, vanishing out of sight. Both women ran home to tell their relatives about the unsettling and outright bizarre event.

“Two entities,” writes Requejo as a result of his interview with the witnesses, “were walking along the screen in a regular manner. No arms were visible. Their silhouette was entirely dark and their height, estimated at a little more than two meters, was shorter than half the height of the luminous oblong.”

Ufologist Requejo mentions, by way of comparison, other cases similar to the 1974 experience in Galicia, sometimes involving larger groups of witnesses, but featuring the "projection screen" feature witnessed by Dolores and Marisa. While clearly a display of some sort, one wonders if it was aimed at the witnesses, as the humanoid "actors" were oblivious to the presence of witnesses in these cases. It could be another example of the 'pointless' activities that UFO occupants have been seen engaging in since the early days of the phenomenon, ranging from collecting useless specimens of soil to asking terrified humans for the time of day.

Hit the Road, Jack

Up until to the abduction paradigm of the 1990s, it could be argued that a nocturnal road trip through a desolate area in any part of the world was the likeliest location to have a UFO experience – any of the three CE-types – and some researchers of the ‘70s even cautioned their readers to have care when driving alone under such conditions.

This was clearly the case in Chile in 1965, when medics aboard an ambulance on an emergency call became the unwilling witnesses to a brilliant light descending from the night sky, surrounded by a host of lesser, attendant lights, that eventually came to rest upon a plain. As the wary ambulance driver drove on, given the urgency of his mission, he was shocked to find one of the smaller objects intercepting his vehicle on one of the curves on the road. One of the medics would later report seeing – lost amid the glare – what appeared to be “figures moving behind portholes”. Even more disturbing was another medic’s recollection of seeing a creature’s face looking at him through one of the side windows, “being dominated by its eyes”.

Chilean researcher Rodrigo Fuenzalida has looked into his share of these cases, which have made Chile one of the world’s foremost locations for encounters with the unknown for well over fifty years. During a radio interview on the “De La Noche a la Mañana Radio Show” on Radio Cooperativa, the researcher brought up the eerie case of Mr. and Mrs. Juan Munizaga, who were traveling to the coastal city of Viña del Mar in 1983. In their Forties, highly respected and both occupying important jobs, the last thing the Munizagas expected at two thirty a.m. as they drove down Route 68 was to be inducted into the annals of humanoid contact experiences.

At some point along the dark road – the vicinity of Casa Blanca being mentioned – the couple saw figures ahead on the asphalt that they first took to be “horsemen on their respective mounts” riding on the paved surface. As the figures did not make way for the motor vehicle, Mr. Munizaga slowed down, turned on the high beams, and cast light upon creatures standing two and a half meters tall (8.2 ft.) with white hair, enormous eyes and “celestial” tunics “like something out of a Hollywood production”, as they would later describe them.

Even more perplexing was the description of “shoulder pads with electronic circuits that came out of their necks” and the emotionless features of both giants, one of whom the Munizaga’s distinguished as possibly being female by its sharper features and somewhat ruddier complexion. Fuenzalida uses the term “feminoid” to describe the possible giantess, who made her way to the car and looked into the passenger side window, casting her enormous eyes on a terrified Mrs. Munizaga, who curled into a fetal position on the seat in a vain effort to shut herself off from the unknown; Mr. Munizaga is reported to have cursed out loud “why didn’t I bring my revolver with me”.

The encounter with the towering humanoids in their glowing raiment reportedly lasted three minutes, after which one of the beings stood aside and the driver was able to accelerate past them. Mrs. Munizaga looked back and reportedly saw one of the creatures making mechanical gestures with its arm, beckoning them to return. 

“These entities,” notes the researcher, “belong to the classification of tall beings in luminous outfits that give off some form of unknown luminous energy. Their morphology is generally human, but their eyes were twice as large as normal human eyes.” Another couple had a similar experience in the same area in 1986, but in this instance, one of the entities raised a hand and caused the automobile to lose all power while its companion performed an “inspection” of the vehicle, walking around it. Once the first creature lowered its hand, the car was restored to normal and able to leave.

But why the absurd behavior of circumambulating a car? “With UFO entities,” writes Hillary Evans in Visions-Apparitions-Alien Vistors, it is not possible to give them the benefit of such a doubt. Their conduct is almost always bafflingly meaningless to our eyes,” despite the fact that the behavior is clearly endowed of some sort of significance. Other authors suggest that these behaviors serve the purpose of misleading the witness, but why?

With the Northern Hemisphere awash in sightings and bedroom invasions of “Grey” entities in the Nineties, it is notable that more traditional – but no less bizarre – events were occurring elsewhere with other non-human types. A 1998 case in Chile involved a family enjoying a day outdoors when they witnessed what they first took to be parachutists coming out of the sky, capturing the event on their camcorder. But no parachutes were ever deployed. The humanoid figures plummeting out of the sky suddenly stopped in mid-air, flying in formation toward the Pacific Coast.

As if this detail wasn’t enough to move the case into the highest ranks of high strangeness, the family remarked that the erstwhile parachutists were gigantic – estimating them to be at least three meters tall and clearly visible in broad daylight. They seemed to be surrounded by a swarm of lesser lights (much like the object seen by the ambulance crew in 1965). Skeptics dismissed the incident saying the figures were “large trash bags sent aloft by local children.” (The video can be seen at YouTube URL http://youtu.be/V95qHv1b0t8) We see in this case a repetition of the "flying humanoids" that terrified the two boys in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, a decade earlier.

Another significant Chilean case from the late Nineties – also from Rodrigo Fuenzalida’s files – includes a “bedroom visitor” that once again, was not one of the multitudinous Greys. 
On the evening of February 13, 1997, an unnamed young housewife was getting ready to put her baby daughter to bed before going to bed herself, as her husband worked nights. At one point, the woman heard a “buzzing” sound that came out of nowhere, electrical in nature, and when she glanced over to the bedroom wall, was alarmed to see a humanoid figure with a backpack and helmet materializing on the wall. The witness went to pick up her daughter in terror, as the unearthly figure seemed interested in the child. A curious detail is added: the helmeted non-human appeared to be “confused” – had it materialized in the wrong apartment or time, or the wrong dimension? 

The witness heard the buzzing noise again and the bedroom visitor disappeared, leaving behind a strange glow on the wall that remained visible moments alter. The outcome of this experience was hardly a positive one, as the woman refused to return to her apartment: she returned home to her mother and father, suffered a nervous breakdown, and could not be dissuaded from sleeping at the foot of her parents’ bed.

Het is van 1972 geleden dat er nog mensen op de maan liepen, met de missie van Apollo 17. Dat er effectief water zou zijn aan het oppervlak, zou volgens Bridenstine de sleutel zijn tot het succes van een nieuwe en duurzame missie erheen. “We weten nu dat er honderden miljarden ton waterijs op de oppervlakte van de maan ligt”, zei hij gisteren aan het persagentschap Reuters.

Een dag eerder had de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie bekendgemaakt dat het ultiem bewijs had gevonden dat de donkerste en koudste plekken van de maan bedekt zijn met een laagje ijs. Dat bleek uit een analyse van data die de Maan Mineralogy Mapper (M3) had verzameld. Het zou gaan om honderden plekken die terug te vinden zijn aan de polen van de maan.

De aanwezigheid zou diepgaande gevolgen kunnen hebben voor een terugkeer van mensen naar de maan. Want het water kan niet alleen gebruikt worden om te drinken, maar ook om zuurstof en raketbrandstof te maken. En Bridenstine - die in april op voorspraak van president Donald Trump aan het hoofd kwam te staan van de NASA – ziet het groots. (lees hieronder verder)

“We willen shuttles die van een baan om de aarde naar een baan om de maan kunnen gaan en ook herbruikbaar zijn”, zegt hij. “We willen ook een ruimtestation bouwen dat in een baan om de maan zal vliegen en daar lange tijd zal kunnen blijven hangen. Van daaruit zullen dan landers heen en weer vliegen naar het oppervlak van de maan.”

Mars

Trump zei in december vorig jaar al dat hij weer astronauten naar de maan wilde sturen, in de aanloop naar een missie richting Mars. Hij trekt voor het volgende fiscale jaar dat op 1 oktober begint 17,2 miljard uit voor de NASA, waarvan ruim 9 miljard naar bemande ruimtemissies zal gaan. De Orion zou in 2020 een eerste onbemande vlucht rond de maan moeten maken. In 2023 zouden er dan voor het eerst astronauten aan boord van het ruimtetoestel zijn.

De Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway – een ruimtestation in een baan om de maan – zou in de jaren 20 gebouwd worden. De eerste component zou in 2022 gelanceerd worden.

Er wordt echter ook opgeroepen tot voorzichtigheid, tot in de rangen van de NASA zelf. Volgens maanwetenschapper Sarah Noble (NASA) is het nog niet duidelijk hoeveel ijs er exáct op het maanoppervlak ligt. En hoe gemakkelijk het zal zijn om dat te ontginnen in hoeveelheden die praktisch gebruikt kunnen worden.

“Er zijn heel wat modellen en die geven ons allemaal verschillende antwoorden. We kunnen nu nog niet weten over hoeveel water het precies gaat. Daar is onderzoek voor nodig met een robot die op verschillende plaatsen op het maanoppervlak gaat kijken”, zegt ze.

What Happened To Phobos II? Russian Cosmonaut & U.S. Army Remote Viewers Say Something “Alien” Did

Witness testimony when it comes to ‘credibility’ is not really seen as a good source of information within the mainstream world, except when it fits into the accepted view of reality, or the reality that’s given to us by the global elite. At this point, it’s not hard to see the consistent stream of lies, in almost all realms from health to politics, that’s dished out by establishment media on a regular basis. When information is presented which goes against the grain no matter how credible the source, even if it goes far beyond simple witness testimony and into hard evidence, it’s always greeted with a harsh response. We see this today with science, and findings that challenge belief systems and have paradigm-shifting implications (like non-material science).

Things, however, are changing, the collective mind is definitely opening and willing to accept the fact that there are concepts of our reality that we may have overlooked, especially towards things that don’t fit the frame.

One of these topics is intelligent extraterrestrial life. Judging by global polls alone, a large portion of the world seems to believe that we are not alone in the universe and that there is intelligent life out there, it’s not just us…

When it comes to the UFO phenomenon, it’s not really taboo to discuss anymore. Dozens of governments have admitted to the existence of UFOs, they’ve released electrooptical data (radar tracking, video footage), and more. The phenomenon is real, and that really can’t be debunked or argued against. The U.S. government has also started a slow process of disclosure, having released multiple videos of their own through to the stars academy.

When it comes to the extraterrestrial hypothesis for the explanation of some of these UFOs, we have hundreds of high-ranking people from within the military, politics, aerospace, and education sector who have been telling the world that yes, some of these UFOs are indeed extraterrestrial space-craft.

Phobos II

Space is a strange place, a place we don’t know much about, and an area that seems to be dominated by Black Budget Special Access Programs (SAP’s), and Unacknowledged Special Access programs. These are programs that are so secretive that they are exempt from standard reporting requirements to Congress. This has been made clear, not only by those who have investigated black budget programs (not many, more on that in the article linked above), but also by whistle-blowers, and people like Gary Mckinnon, who performed the largest military computer hack in history, finding strange pictures of space-ships floating near the Earth, as well as a list of “off-world officers” and “fleet to fleet” transfers of materials.

So, what happened to Phobos II? Phobos II was (from what we’re told), the very last space probe designed by the Soviet Union. It was designed to explore the moons of Mars, Phobos, and Demimos. It was launched on July 12th, 1988, and entered into orbit on January 29th, 1989.

The Probe got close to the surface of Mars, investigating its surface and atmosphere as well as returning approximately 40 images. The probe was also supposed to approach Phobos within 50 meters and release two landers, but all of a sudden, the mission ended and contact with the probe was completely lost.  The ‘official’ answer from NASA was that there was a malfunction onboard, but according to others, with ‘credibility,’ this is not what happened.

As Jim Mars points out in one of his books, Our Occulted History:

In mid-1991, six former U.S. Army remote viewers were commissioned by officials within the Russian space program to study the cause of Phobos II’s disappearance. Remote viewing is the term given to a controlled psychic ability that allows one to perceive persons, places, and things at a distance without the use of the normal five senses. Such techniques were studied by both academic and government scientists before the creation of a remote-viewing unit witin the U.S. Amy’s Intelligence and Security Command (INSOCOM) in the early 1970s.

Remote viewing was part of the US Government’s STARGATE program.

Anytime I mention remote viewing in an article, I always have to throw this in there from the declassified literature,

Successful replication of this type of remote viewing in independent laboratories has yielded considerable scientific evidence for the reality of the (remote viewing) phenomenon. Adding to the strength of these results was the discovery that a growing number of individuals could be found to demonstrate high-quality remote viewing, often to their own surprise. The CIA even participated as remote viewers themselves in order to critique the protocols. CIA personnel generated successful target descriptions of sufficiently high quality to permit blind matching of descriptions to targets by independent judges.

According to Mars, in 1991, the remote viewers issued a report titled “Enigma Penetration: Soviet Phobos II Space Craft Images Anomaly.” The report outlined how a disc-shaped object arose from the surface of Mars as Phobos neared, all while a second object moved even closer, scanning the probe, and then shooting some sort of, what appeared to be, a particle beam device, which disrupted the communication and guidance equipment.

This isn’t the first time a UFO has been said to shoot some sort of beam disrupting Earthly equipment, Colonel Ross Dedrickson, a high-ranking Air Force Officer who had a long stint with the US atomic energy commission provided an example in thisinterview, he also said extraterrestrial destroyed nuclear weapons that the US government wanted to detonate on the moon for scientific purposes… Here’sanother video of Professor Robert Jacobs describing another similar incident.

So, it’s not the first time we’re hearing about something like this.

Back to Phobos, according to Mars, the remote viewers said that “this may have been no accident, as it seems that all of the technology put into space from Earth is scrutinized closely by nonhumans. If it would reveal alien activities, then it is decommissioned. After being struck, Phobos II spiralled down crashing onto the Martian surface.

The remote viewers aren’t the only ones who spoke of such an incident. In 1991, a retired Soviet Air Force colonel and cosmonaut trainee named Marina Popovic, pictured belw on the far right, expressed that one of the last photographs received by the Russians from Phobos II showed “the silhouette of an odd-shaped object approaching the spacecraft.” Popovich said the picture was taken on March 25th, 1989, in deep space near Phobos (moon of Mars) shortly before contact with the craft was lost. She said the object very well may have been an alien spacecraft.” Her belief that this happened was also poorly expressed by the New York Times.

Why would she be lying? Especially when she is one of dozens of global astronauts to confirm the existence of “UFOs”, and some have confirmed the extraterrestrial hypothesis.

Alexander Dunayev, chairman of the Society Space organization responsible for the Phobos II project, said that “the doomed probe had photographed the image of a small odd-shaped object between itself and Mars. He speculated that the object might have been “debris in the orbit of Phobos” or even jettisoned parts from the spacecraft. His tone was anything but certain.

What’s most intriguing about this story is that the photograph drawn by the remote viewers matched the description of the disc above, which is something that was quite common in the remote viewing program. Again, it had an extremely high success rate, with viewers able to peer into secret Russian military bases and describe weapons facilities, naval facilities and more. They even used the program to locate a lost spy plane in Africa. There are multiple examples found within the declassified literature, and even more from the participants from within that program, like Ingo Swann, Pat Price, Joseph McMoneagle, Paul Smith, and many more.

The military-trained remote viewers, however, said they saw Mars Observer meeting the same fat as Phobos II as well as other, secret space launch that same moe month in 1993. They noted the similarity of fates between the Phobos missions and Mars observer. This pattern may have continued in another failed Russian attempt to probe the secrets of Phobos. In the fall of 2011, control over Phobos Grunt (literally, Phobos Soil) was lost, and fears grew that its ten-ton load of toxic fuel and oxidizer might wreak havoc when the failed craft reentered Earth’s atmosphere. The stricken craft reportedly crashed into the Pacific Ocean on Sunday, January 15th, 2012, with no reported consequence. Why would all these probes be failing? Could it be that something on Mars doesn’t want us observing the planet? One thing seems clear – someone or something continues to operate far outside Earth.

Nog steeds is de wereld stekeblind voor wat er in haar achtertuin gebeurt en nog steeds doet iedereen of alles wat er op aarde gebeurt volkomen normaal is. 

We hebben gezien hoe het aantal aardbevingen op aarde fenomenaal toeneemt en met de nadering van Nibiru is iemand er in geslaagd om een close up foto te maken. 

Een man die al jarenlang met haar samenwerkt voor wat betreft het maken van foto’s is een oudere heer genaamd Alberto. De door hem gemaakte foto’s zijn regelmatig op haar website te zien en de reden dat hij in staat is om goede foto’s te maken komt door de filters die hij gebruikt. 

Sinds 2003 maakt hij al foto’s van de planeet Nibiru en enkele maanden geleden had hij toch wel een aardige primeur omdat hij met behulp van een telelens erin was geslaagd om een close up te maken van de planeet Nibiru. 

Die ziet er als volgt uit:

Het ziet er niet uit als een mooie blauwachtige planeet als de aarde, maar schijnt een hele dichte atmosfeer te hebben met crèmekleurige luchten. 

Een ander fenomeen dat absoluut te maken heeft met de nadering van de planeet is iets waar al in oude tijden over wordt gesproken en waar wij ook eerder over schreven en dat zijn de zogenaamde trompet geluiden. 

We komen de zeven trompetten tegen in het boek Openbaringen van de Bijbel, maar ook in de Kolbrin bijbel. 

Als je een goede indruk wilt krijgen van hoe huiveringwekkend die geluiden kunnen zijn, neem dan vijf minuten de tijd om de volgende video te bekijken. Het zijn verschillende opnames van dergelijke geluiden, allemaal vastgelegd tijdens televisie-uitzendingen, waardoor je weet dat je niet met nep opnames te maken hebt. 


De Kolbrin bijbel schrijft het volgende: 

The days of stillness were followed by a time when the noise of trumpeting and shrilling was heard in the Heavens, and the people became as frightened beasts without a headsman. … The Doomshape thundered sharply in the Heavens and shot out bright lightings. Then a voice like ten thousand trumpets was heard … The whole of the land moved and mountains melted. The sky itself roared like ten thousand lions in agony. 

In dat kader is het ook interessant om te kijken naar de volgende video. Het is een christelijke benadering over de zeven trompetten die zullen losbarsten in de eindtijd en rampen over de aarde zullen brengen. Video is in het Engels, maar Nederlands ondertiteld. 
 

Als je wilt weten wat de toekomst brengt, kijk dan in de geschiedenis. Overal kom je in feite variaties tegen van hetzelfde verhaal. De heer/God/Jezus/Anunnaki/Marduk die op een goede dag terug zal/zullen keren. 

De komst van de planeet wordt onder andere aangekondigd via de vreemde trompet geluiden, iets dat zelfs bij de Dogon, een stam in de zuidelijke Sahara in Afrika, bekend is. 

We zijn nu op een punt aanbeland waarop je deze planeet (Nibiru) kunt zien, voelen en horen. Maar de wereld draait door en merkt ogenschijnlijk niets. De mensheid wordt afgeleid met vaccinaties, belastingen, politiek, leerplicht, godsdienst, bitcoins en meer, om er maar voor te zorgen dat er geen tijd of ruimte is om te zien wat er werkelijk speelt. We’re talking, of course, about the mysterious giant marble sarcophagus found in Alexandria, Egypt, recently that generated excitement when it was found, intrigue when rumors flew about its mysterious contents, puzzlement when the contents were not what was expected, disgust when some people wanted to drink the water inside and more questions when the remains turned out to be both men and a woman, with one skull showing a round surgical hole. If that wasn’t enough (it never is when it comes to Egyptian artifacts), some mysterious gold sheets that were mistakenly reported to be inside some of the bones have been analyzed and the pictures on them add to the mystique and mystery of the sarcophagus.

Luxor Times tweeted photos of the tiny (approximately 5cm by 3cm or 2 in by 1 in) gold sheets, also referred to as panels, found with the skeletons. Mostafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, told Ahram Online that the panels (seen in this video) may be related to the military rankings of the three people buried in the sarcophagus. If true, it will be interesting to see which one belonged to the woman since female soldiers were sometimes depicted in Egyptian drawings.

Live Science contacted several experts to analyze the pictures of the panels and got a detailed report from Jack Ogden, president of the Society of Jewellery Historians and one of the foremost experts in the field. Ogden identified one image as an unhooded snake, which “had connotations of rebirth — they shed their skin — and thus [are] perfect in a funerary connection” and is often associated with the goddess Isis. However, those weren’t enough for Ogden to confirm this jewelry belonged to the female in the sarcophagus.

The other two sheets were more puzzling. One is a plant, possibly corn or a palm branch, which would again symbolize rebirth when placed with the dead. The last contains what looks like an opium poppy seed pod in a shrine, which Ogden speculates could have symbolized medicine (opium had medicinal usages in in Egypt) or getting stoned and entering a dream or coma-like state to symbolize death – or perhaps even induce it? As Ogden said of this panel, “It is intriguing.”

Indeed. Why was gold or jewelry placed with these bodies in a coffin that was quite possibly being shared due to mysterious circumstances. Were these people related? Heroes of the same war or battle? Killed by the same disease or plague? Something else?

What else is in this mysterious sarcophagus and why is it trickling out so slowly? Is the Ministry of Antiquities milking it for its tourism value … or it hiding something?

The universe is unimaginably large. The odds that we’ll find evidence of life anywhere in our cosmic neck of the woods is looking ever smaller, yet the time and energy required to send a craft or probe to look for alien civilizations in distant star systems means if you’re alive right now, you likely won’t live to experience first contact. Unless, of course, you’re some sort of immortal, in which case carry on.

They’re out there somewhere. Will we reach them before our sudden but inevitable extinction?

One proposed solution to help us explore distant reaches of space without sending generations of astronauts to live and die entire lifetimes aboard cramped, fart-filled spacecraft is the Breakthrough Starshot initiative proposed by Stephen Hawking. This concept imagines using powerful lasers to send postage-stamp sized craft hurtling through space at incredible speeds and may even be capable of sending one such craft to Mars in just three days. Obviously, humans can’t ride aboard these spacecraft for ants, but each tiny probe could carry cameras, scientific instruments, and communication equipment, even human DNA – more than enough to establish first contact.

Breakthrough Starshot wants to send thousands of their nanocraft throughout the galaxy to survey surface features of other planets. What could go wrong?

However, one leading astrophysicist and science writer has come out against the popular Breakthrough Starshot initiative. Ethan Siegel, a former columnist for NASA and current science writer for Forbes, self-published a piece claiming that Earth may one day accidentally declare interstellar war if the Starshot initiative ever comes to fruition. Siegel claims that sending anything hurtling through space at high speeds is a bad idea, even a tiny postage stamp-sized probe with no weaponry:

Perhaps we’ll send an array of starchips to the same system, hoping to probe these systems and gain more information. After all, the main science goal, as it’s been proposed, is to simply take data during arrival and transmit it back. But there are three huge problems with this plan, and combined, they could be tantamount to a declaration of interstellar war.

The three problems Siegel identify are that for one, these spacecraft are likely to be shredded into Swiss cheese by all of the particles of dust and other matter floating around in space, rendering the entire program a useless waste of resources. Secondly, Siegel says that there is no way to send these nanocraft with any level of precision to distant areas of interest. The most precise target we can aim for is a cone-shaped vector around any planet while hoping for the best, meaning we could blow right by inhabited planets and never know it. Finally, Siegel points out that there’s no way to stop these tiny spacecraft once they reach their destination, meaning we could send one of these tiny craft blowing right through an inhabited planet causing unknown levels of destruction given the speeds at which they will be moving.

While these are all certainly issues worthy of consideration before we start blasting lasers at space stamps, that last one should give us serious pause. Given how tricky even intraspecies communication can be when two humans don’t speak the same language, how can we be sure of how any of our attempts at communication will be received by hypothetical alien races about which we know absolutely nothing, not to mention bombarding them with high-speed projectiles? Of course, given some of the recent curious statements made by Air Force brass, maybe they’d like an interstellar war to test out their new Space Force. Will a tiny laser-propelled probe be the shot heard round the universe?

We live in an era where it seems that nothing a politician says or does has a predictable effect on his or her campaign, electability, poll numbers or performance in office. And that’s not limited to Washington either. In Florida (OK, it’s kind of a muggier Washington with alligators), a candidate for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives confirmed last October that stories saying she had been abducted by aliens as a child were true, as were statements that she communicated with them telepathically throughout her life. Those admissions didn’t knock her out of the race. Instead, this week the Miami Herald announced it was endorsing her for the job – citing her experience as an office holder and a businesswoman while admitting to and then dismissing her abduction story as a “non-issue.” Should it be an issue?

“I went in. There were some round seats that were there, and some quartz rocks that controlled the ship — not like airplanes.”

Republican candidate Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera said in a 2009 television interview that was resurrected in October 2017that she met three blond, tall, full-figured aliens (no body-shaming in space) — two females, one male (no sex discrimination either) — who looked like the giant Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro (a plug for the religious vote) and told her that there are 30,000 alien skulls in a cave on the island of Malta and the Coral Castle in Miami (alleged to have been made by a human) is actually an ancient Egyptian pyramid. Despite these admissions (or perhaps because of them), Aguilera has run a low-key campaign with few personal appearances and is still on the ballot for the upcoming primary election on August 28.

Not only is she on the ballot, Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera was endorsed this week by the editorial board of the Miami Herald – the second-largest newspaper in Florida known for its many Pulitzer prizes. Despite those (or perhaps because of them), the Herald put Aguilera’s alien contact and abduction story right out front, called her “a strong candidate in the race with plausible conservative ideas” and a “Working Class Agenda” and gave her its endorsement.

Of course, this is just the primary – the general election will be held in November – but it’s crowded and it will be interesting to see if conservative voters come out for someone with such a non-traditional origin story. Her statement that the aliens told her that “God is a universal energy” should help, although if that’s the case, why do we need a Space Force?

NUFORC Director Says UFO Reports in Decline, May Be Being ‘Intercepted’

For whatever reason, UFO reports seem to be declining. That’s at least according to data released by the U.S.-based National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). NUFORC recently published data showing that after steady increases in reported sightings for several decades, sightings began to sharply decline in 2014. That alone should raise some eyebrows, as the recent explosion of drone aircraft worldwide should have likely increased UFO sightings. What’s behind this sudden decline in UFO sightings? According to NUFORC founder and director Peter Davenport, reports of sightings are possibly being intercepted by government agencies or other shadowy groups which seek to conceal the truth. Is there a conspiracy afoot to suppress UFO reports, or has the public at large merely grown bored with UFOs?

Who knows the extent of what knowledge has been suppressed over the years?

As all things UFO-related, it’s difficult to say. A decline in reports doesn’t necessarily mean a decline in sightings or incidents, it just means that for whatever reason, the reports aren’t coming in to NUFORC like they used to. Speaking to Business Insider about the slump in reports, Davenport is careful to toe the line, stating that while there could be perfectly benign reasons for this decline, it may also be that something more nefarious is going on behind the scenes:

The significant decrease in the number of reports has baffled everyone investigating within the UFO field. They see the same trend and they’re all confused by it. It could just be that there are fewer and fewer incidents, but it’s also possible that reports to UFO organisations are being intercepted electronically. Who would do something like that is a mystery, but if it’s happening, my first suspicion would be government organisations. It’s quite risky for a government to do that, but you can’t rule it out, I think.

Might there be something sinister going on behind the scenes in order to squash UFO reports before they’re filed? There have been what seem like hints of official disclosure coming out of the Pentagon over the last few years – although many have their doubts about all of this allegedly “declassified” information. Are these so-called disclosures merely another smokescreen?

It’s difficult what to make of this decline in reports. Without much concrete evidence to go on (that we know of), it could be said on one hand that the UFO phenomenon is an entirely social construction, a narrative or myth which pervades our culture and reflects our attitudes and beliefs about our skies and what goes on in them, the universe, and the question of whether or not we’re alone in the black vacuum of space. Thus, a decline in UFO sightings could be said to merely reflect changing societal attitudes towards the UFO phenomenon; a decline in reports could signal a decline in belief of UFOs itself.

If UFO sightings aren’t a cultural phemomenon, why are they so frequently saucer-shaped or black triangles?

On the other hand, with countless sightings throughout history on nearly every corner of the globe, it’s hard to say that there’s not something going on over our heads we can’t explain. Are witnesses going straight to social media and bypassing NUFORC and othe }r organizations, or might someone be actively attempting to suppress UFO reports?

Weird Debris Found at Dyatlov Pass close to where the Hikers died

A tantalizing find made at Russia's Dyatlov Pass may shed light on the mystery of what killed nine hikers at the site.

Located in the Ural Mountains, the remote patch of wilderness became infamous in paranormal lore after a 1959 incident which saw a hiking party perish under bizarre circumstances.

Despite a contemporaneous investigation by Russian officials and subsequent decades of study from independent researchers, the cause of the strange event has never been fully determined.

However, a discovery made by a tourist visiting the area could either constitute a break in the case or yet another glimmer of false hope for those who wish to see the mystery resolved.

The unnamed individual reportedly stumbled upon an intriguing piece of metal while visiting the area back in 2008.

Remarkably, the find was only recently confirmed after an expedition finally made their way out to the specific location to both see the object for themselves and to bring it back to civilization to be studied.

Researchers in Russia say that the mysterious metal fragment, which measures around three feet long by three feet wide, appears to be some kind of debris from an intercontinental missile.

Although it's hard to fathom that a piece of evidence from the Dyatlov Pass incident could have survived undiscovered in the Ural mountains for nearly sixty years, the extremely remote nature of the location leaves open the possibility that it very well may have.

Presumably an examination of the metal will allow for it to be identified and, in turn, place it within some time frame which will reveal whether or not it is connected to the case.

Should it be proven that the metal came from a missile being used or tested at the time that the hikers died, it would add considerable strength to the longstanding suspicion that the hikers fell victim to some kind of weapon that was clandestine at the time, report sputniknews and coasttocoast.

But if it was a missile then that time they must have found much more debris of the missile as well as the impact place and that is not the case. I think the origin of this object is otherwise then they suggest.

Cassini Probe show a "mysterious object" in the Rings of Saturn, Aug 2018, UFO Sighting News.

This is a great discovery by Cassini, several UFOs caught flying around Saturn. One of the UFOs was named Peggy by NASA and is thought to an unknown object that flew into the ring area recently. We know very little about Saturn, and can't see below its thick atmosphere, but it does have a diameter 9.5X that of Earth. Something that big with such an active atmosphere must have a lot of life forms on it. These UFOs are proof that Saturn has visitors from far away.

Just before the NASA Cassini spacecraft burned in the atmosphere of Saturn, he managed to photograph an "unexplained glitch" on the rings of Saturn. "What is that? Where does it come from? Where is he going? We have been monitoring it almost since "astronomers have seen it for the first time", they say to NASA. "We have never solved the problem of the origin of this' object. All we can do is follow the error in the last photographs taken by Cassini before it burned in the atmosphere of Saturn ". One of the last images taken by the Cassini space probe has shown something mysterious in the rings of Saturn. Are they aliens? "Not really, but it would be exciting. Really exciting !! "- they say to NASA.

The mysteries yet to be resolved is the possible formation of a strange "unidentified object" dubbed "Peggy". Some have proposed that it could be a moon that is supposed to have formed within the rings of Saturn. Astronomers were able to analyze it but for a short time, thanks to disturbances within the rings of Saturn, which were first detected by an astronomer of Queen Mary University in London, dr. Carl Murray.

Alien life form flies past person recording in Middlesex, New Jersey, Video, Aug 2018, UFO Sighting News.

At first I thought this was cotton from a cotton tree. I've got a lot of those around where I live, but its too white, balled up, where cotton is partly transparent. This object stops in the leaves then suddenly shoots away like a jet. No cotton could do that. Its obviously not an insect since it has no wings, legs or head. 

When the UFO was in the leaves...it hovered, but was still pushed by the wind, matching the leaves movements...this made me think it was stuck in a web for a little bit, but it wasn't. It was interested in the leaves. It changed shape from oval to round every few seconds. 

The object moves with intelligence and at the end shot off with incredible speed. This was a mini alien UFO...a mini probe meant to go unseen and ignored by humans...but one person caught it! Then again, this could be an alien life form visiting us. 

I have seen small UFOs...once a few years ago I meditated on the roof a my 8 floor building (because I saw it work for someone on Youtube) and 2 meters in front of me a round pearlescent and semi transparent orb appeared 6 inches from the edge of the building. It was softball size and showed up on the opposite side of my camera on the tripod...I flipped the tripod around, but the little bugger shot 50 meters in those 2 seconds! Yes...got it on video far away and looks white glowing...like this. Meditation never worked for me again. :(

The scientists have to pass some stigmas in their head about what a UFO is...but also, more importantly, how big or small a UFO might be. A UFO the size of this one in the video will always be considered nothing by most scientists. But clearly its something. When it comes to aliens...size has no limits. I have seen many reports of eyewitnesses who encounter alien life forms, some were four meters tall, others were a few cm tall. So who is right? Well, look at it this way, the USAF taught Bob Lazar in Area 51 that the US gov knew of 56 space faring alien species. So then...do you really think they are all the same hight? Do you think they all look just like us? Of course they are not. Different planets have different atmospheres to breath and different gravity to contend with. Also who knows what species grows dominant on other planets? A plant could, a tree could, a lizard species could, a fish species could, a bird species could, and so many we cannot even imagine. So...lets keep an open mind.

NASA finds ice on the Moon — raising prospects of a lunar colony

For the first time, scientists have found irrefutable evidence of ice on the lunar surface. To make things even more exciting, this makes the prospect of establishing a lunar colony much more likely.

In 1835, a journalist working for The Sun (a New York newspaper), published a series of articles in which he claimed that life on the Moon had been discovered. He went on to say that winged humanoids and goat-like creatures inhabited the Moon, attributing the findings to Sir John Herschel, one of the greatest astronomers of the time. The articles, however, were a hoax — nothing more than a joke played on an unsuspecting audience. But this hoax echoed with so many people because it appealed to a very common curiosity: what is the Moon like? Is it like the Earth? Does it host alien life? Is it real?

Our understanding of the Moon has improved dramatically since then, and we know that no goat-like creatures could live on its surface. But the Moon is still as intriguing as ever, spurring heated debates about its formation, past life forms, and even a planned human colony. A big part of these discussions, however, hinges on a particular and familiar substance: water.

Although previous research has indicated the potential of water (especially frozen water) on the lunar surface, now, for the first time, astronomers have direct evidence of ice on the satellite. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, we can now say that there’s ice on the Moon.

Using NASA’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3), a team led by Shuai Li of the University of Hawaii and Brown University and including Richard Elphic from NASA’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley, have measured how some areas of the moon absorb light. Based on that data, they’ve identified three specific signatures which together form a clear indication of ice. The signatures indicate frozen water, not liquid or vapor.

Previously, NASA’s LRO discovered that hydrogen (potentially from water) is more abundant on pole-facing slopes, a discovery consistent with the new study. Because it doesn’t have an atmosphere, the Moon is riddled with impact craters — and in the shadow of these craters, we might find the ice needed for a lunar colony.

Most of the ice is concentrated around the Moon’s darkest locations, which are consequently the coldest — the shadows of craters around the Moon’s polar areas. Because of the very small tilt of the Moon’s rotation axis, sunlight never reaches these regions, thus making the Moon unique in our solar system in terms of frozen ice.

“We found direct and definitive evidence for surface-exposed water ice in the lunar polar regions. The abundance and distribution of ice on the Moon are distinct from those on other airless bodies in the inner solar system such as Mercury and Ceres, which may be associated with the unique formation and evolution process of our Moon.”

Furthermore, researchers say, it seems like there’s enough water ice to support an exploration or even a permanent mission on the Moon. The Moon has been shown to host vast quantities of water beneath its surface, but surface ice would be much more accessible and easy to use.

It’s not the first time evidence of ice has been picked up on the moon. However, previous observations could have theoretically been explained by very reflective soils. Now, that’s out of the question.

Future research will try to explain how this ice got there in the first place and what role it plays in the lunar environment.
