It was nearly the end of World War II. But for the airmen of the 415th Night Fighter Squadron, it felt more like the beginning of War of the Worlds.
Lt. Fred Ringwald was the first to see it. He was riding as observer in a night fighter piloted by Lt. Ed Schlueter, with Lt. Donald J. Meiers on radar. It was a late November evening in 1944, partly cloudy with a quarter moon. They were roaming the Rhine Valley just north of Strasbourg on the French-German border when Ringwald said, “I wonder what those lights are, over there in the hills,” according to an American Legion Magazine story on the sightings from 1945.
There were eight to 10 of them in a row, glowing fiery orange. Then Schlueter saw them off his right wing. They checked with Allied ground radar, but they registered nothing. Thinking that the lights might be some kind of German air weapon, Schlueter turn the plane to fight…only to have the lights vanish.
At first the men said nothing, fearing they’d be ostracized. But then the sightings spread through the unit.
More crews, more sightings
On December 17, 1944, near Breisach, Germany, a pilot was flying at approximately 800 feet when he saw “5 or 6 flashing red and green lights in ’T’ shape.” The lights seemed to follow him, closing in “to about 8 o’clock and 1,000 ft.” before disappearing as inexplicably as they came.
Then on December 22nd, two more flight crews sighted lights. One crew, near Hagenau, reported two lights in a large orange glow, seeming to rise from the earth to 10,000 feet, tailing the fighter “for approximately two minutes.” After that, the lights, “peel off and turn away, fly along level for a few minutes and then go out. They appear to be under perfect control at all times,” according to Keith Chester’s Strange Company: Military Encounters with UFOs in World War II.
And then there was Lt. Samuel A. Krasney’s experience: a wingless cigar-shape object, glowing red, just a few yards off the plane’s wingtip. Lt. Krasney, justifiably spooked, instructed the pilot to attempt evasive maneuvers, but the glowing object stayed right next to the jet for several minutes before it “flew off and disappeared.”
Eventually, the airmen named the lights: foo fighters, inspired by the comic strip “Smokey Stover,” in which Smokey (a firefighter) would often declare, “Where there’s foo, there’s fire.”

The ‘combat fatigue’ explanation
An Associated Press reporter broke news of the foo-fighter sightings on January 1st, 1945, and theories about their origins quickly abounded: The sightings were flares, or weather balloons or St. Elmo’s Fire—a phenomenon where a light appears on the tips of objects in stormy weather. But the members of the 415th rejected all those theories. Flares and weather balloons can’t track planes like these objects could, and they’d seen St. Elmo’s fire and could distinguish the two.
Then there were those who claimed that the airmen were suffering from “combat fatigue,” a polite way of saying that war stress was driving them insane. But there was scant evidence to suggest collective psychosis: The 415th had an otherwise excellent record, and when a reporter for American Legion Magazine went to report on the squadron he described them as “very normal airmen, whose primary interest was combat, and after that came pin-up girls, poker, doughnuts and the derivatives of the grape.”
Lt. Krasney’s son, Keith Krasney, says his late father didn’t fit the stereotypical profile of a UFO theorizer. In fact, he never even suggested that the glowing wingless cigar-like object that flew next to his plane was extraterrestrial in origin.
“He was very level-headed, very analytical,” says Krasney of his father, adding that he kept a notebook where he wrote about (and drew) his foo-fighter sighting. But although he never seemed prone to conspiracy theories, Krasney says his father was open to one: “He entertained the idea that it could be late-breaking German technology. He did express the view that there were a lot of things during the war that were kept quiet.”

Was it the work of Nazi astrophysicists?
Holding Nazi Germany responsible for the flying glowing orbs isn’t too far-fetched. For one thing, the sightings took place over Nazi-occupied Europe, at a time when Germany’s Luftwaffe was making tremendous strides. Then there’s the fact that the sightings stopped once the German army was defeated.
But the most compelling link to the foo fighters might be Wernher von Braun, a 32-year-old wunderkind rocket engineer. Von Braun helped the Nazis develop the V-2 rocket: a long-range guided ballistic missile that Hitler was using in 1944 against Belgium and other parts of Allied Europe. It’s not to hard imagine pilots—unfamiliar with long-range ballistics—comparing these rockets to a cigar-like wingless planes. The V-2 could even explain the glow, since its tail emitted a long burning plume.
Nicholas Veronico, an author who has written several books on military aviation history, says that explanation comes up short.
“The V-2 rocket doesn’t have the maneuverability,” he says. “It couldn’t turn on a dime and change its acceleration pattern. Once it started burning, it burned and produced thrust at one rating.”
Nothing in Nazi Germany’s military-aviation arsenal can explain the foo-fighter description, Veronico says. One airman’s observation from the time—that the foo fighters follow the fighters so closely as to seem almost magnetized to them—is particularly confounding, given that “there just wasn’t the propulsion or metallurgical technology that could enable something like that.”

And yet von Braun’s career after World War II is worth considering. Following the collapse of the Third Reich, the engineer was recruited to be part of Operation Paperclip, a clandestine U.S. military program that spared 1,600 Nazi scientists prosecution for war crimes, moving them instead into the American military, where their past was whitewashed to the public.
By 1952, von Braun had reinvented himself as a space-flight advocate, writing a piece that year in Collier’s magazine declaring that “within the next 10 or 15 years, the earth will have a new companion in the skies, a man-made satellite that could be either the greatest force for peace ever devised, or one of the most terrible weapons of war—depending on who makes and controls it.” His prediction proved overly conservative: The Soviets launched Sputnik 1 only five years later. Von Braun helped the U.S. Army launch Explorer 1 shortly thereafter. By 1960 he was with NASA, where he became the chief architect on Saturn V—the rocket that sent Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 crew to the moon.
As von Braun recast himself as an American patriot, his career in the Nazi party shadowed him, an ambiguous secret that reporters would playfully poke at. At one press conference before one Apollo launch, a reporter asked von Braun to assure the press that the rocket wouldn’t hit London. But they could never prove his involvement, and it was only in 1985—several years after von Braun’s death—that CNN broke news of the full extent of the aerospace engineer’s Nazi past, more than 40 years after the fact.
Veronico hopes the foo-fighter narrative will follow a similar trajectory.
“The fantasy is that 100 years after the war, the U.S. or Soviets will release information about what they captured, and it’ll blow all our minds. But I think they would’ve capitalized on it by this point,” the historian says. “Or weaponized it.”
If you’ve got loads of experience in top secret missions and an affinity for UFOs, then a job opportunity has arrived that may be impossible to pass up.
'Janet Airlines,' the unofficial name of the classified fleet for the U.S. Air Force, is looking for a pilot to join their secretive ranks at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
Inconspicuous: Janet planes are painted white with a horizontal red band along the side, and reportedly transport military employees and contractors to restricted sites, including Area 51. (AP)
The planes, which don’t carry any company logos and are painted white with a horizontal red band along the side, transport military and contract employees to restricted sites, including the infamous Area 51 and the TonoPah Test Range in Nevada.
They are referred to as ‘Janet’ because that is the call sign they use while flying over civilian airspace — it's believed to stand for “Just Another Non-Existent Terminal."
A job opening has been posted on the website of private defense contractor AECOM for a First Officer based in Vegas. Although it doesn’t go into specifics about where they will be flying, the demands for those applying are high.
The posting calls for the applicants to "have a minimum of 3,000 fixed wing flying hours in-seat with 300 in-seat hours within the last 5 years." The advert also says applicants “must qualify for and maintain a TS government security clearance and associated work location access."
In January, AECOM also posted a job opportunity for flight attendants.
Founded in 1972, the ‘Janet’ fleet as of 2015 consisted of six Boeing 737-600s, as well as five smaller executive turboprops, according to Jalopnik.
The CIA only acknowledged the existence of Area 51 back in 2013 thanks to declassified documents.
George Washington University's National Security Archive obtained a CIA history of the U-2 spy plane program through a public records request and released it five years ago.
The Bermuda Triangle! Biggest Mysterious Place on Earth
Bermuda Triangle
Popular culture has attributed various disappearances to the paranormal or activity by extraterrestrial beings. Documented evidence indicates that a significant percentage of the incidents were spurious, inaccurately reported, or embellished by later authors. The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is a loosely-defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Most reputable sources dismiss the idea that there is any mystery. The vicinity of the Bermuda Triangle is amongst the most heavily traveled shipping lanes in the world, with ships frequently crossing through it for ports in the Americas, Europe and the Caribbean islands. Cruise ships and pleasure craft regularly sail through the region, and commercial and private aircraft routinely fly over it.
Triangle area
In 1964, Vincent Gaddis wrote in the pulp magazine Argosy of the boundaries of the Bermuda Triangle, giving its vertices as Miami; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Bermuda. Subsequent writers did not necessarily follow this definition. Some writers gave different boundaries and vertices to the triangle, with the total area varying from 1,300,000 to 3,900,000 km2 (500,000 to 1,510,000 sq mi). "Indeed, some writers even stretch it as far as the Irish coast." Consequently, the determination of which accidents occurred inside the triangle depends on which writer reported them.
Origins
The earliest suggestion of unusual disappearances in the Bermuda area appeared in a September 17, 1950, article published in The Miami Herald (Associated Press) by Edward Van Winkle Jones. Two years later, Fate magazine published "Sea Mystery at Our Back Door", a short article by George X. Sand covering the loss of several planes and ships, including the loss of Flight 19, a group of five US Navy Grumman TBM Avenger torpedo bombers on a training mission. Sand's article was the first to lay out the now-familiar triangular area where the losses took place. Flight 19 alone would be covered again in the April 1962 issue of American Legion magazine. In it, author Allan W. Eckert wrote that the flight leader had been heard saying, "We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We don't know where we are, the water is green, no white." He also wrote that officials at the Navy board of inquiry stated that the planes "flew off to Mars." Sand's article was the first to suggest a supernatural element to the Flight 19 incident. In the February 1964 issue of Argosy, Vincent Gaddis' article "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle" argued that Flight 19 and other disappearances were part of a pattern of strange events in the region.[1] The next year, Gaddis expanded this article into a book, Invisible Horizons.
Others would follow with their own works, elaborating on Gaddis' ideas: John Wallace Spencer (Limbo of the Lost, 1969, repr. 1973); Charles Berlitz (The Bermuda Triangle, 1974); Richard Winer (The Devil's Triangle, 1974), and many others, all keeping to some of the same supernatural elements outlined by Eckert.
Criticism of the concept
Larry Kusche
Lawrence David Kusche, author of The Bermuda Triangle Mystery: Solved (1975) argued that many claims of Gaddis and subsequent writers were often exaggerated, dubious or unverifiable. Kusche's research revealed a number of inaccuracies and inconsistencies between Berlitz's accounts and statements from eyewitnesses, participants, and others involved in the initial incidents. Kusche noted cases where pertinent information went unreported, such as the disappearance of round-the-world yachtsman Donald Crowhurst, which Berlitz had presented as a mystery, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Another example was the ore-carrier recounted by Berlitz as lost without trace three days out of an Atlanticport when it had been lost three days out of a port with the same name in the Pacific Ocean. Kusche also argued that a large percentage of the incidents that sparked allegations of the Triangle's mysterious influence actually occurred well outside it. Often his research was simple: he would review period newspapers of the dates of reported incidents and find reports on possibly relevant events like unusual weather, that were never mentioned in the disappearance stories.
Kusche concluded that:
The number of ships and aircraft reported missing in the area was not significantly greater, proportionally speaking, than in any other part of the ocean.
In an area frequented by tropical cyclones, the number of disappearances that did occur were, for the most part, neither disproportionate, unlikely, nor mysterious.
Furthermore, Berlitz and other writers would often fail to mention such storms or even represent the disappearance as having happened in calm conditions when meteorological records clearly contradict this.
The numbers themselves had been exaggerated by sloppy research. A boat's disappearance, for example, would be reported, but its eventual (if belated) return to port may not have been.
Some disappearances had, in fact, never happened. One plane crash was said to have taken place in 1937, off Daytona Beach, Florida, in front of hundreds of witnesses; a check of the local papers revealed nothing.
The legend of the Bermuda Triangle is a manufactured mystery, perpetuated by writers who either purposely or unknowingly made use of misconceptions, faulty reasoning, and sensationalism.
In a 2013 study, the World Wide Fund for Nature identified the world's 10 most dangerous waters for shipping, but the Bermuda Triangle was not among them.
Further responses
When the UK Channel 4 television program The Bermuda Triangle (1992) was being produced by John Simmons of Geofilms for the Equinox series, the marine insurance market Lloyd's of London was asked if an unusually large number of ships had sunk in the Bermuda Triangle area. Lloyd's determined that large numbers of ships had not sunk there.Lloyd's does not charge higher rates for passing through this area. United States Coast Guard records confirm their conclusion. In fact, the number of supposed disappearances is relatively insignificant considering the number of ships and aircraft that pass through on a regular basis.
The Coast Guard is also officially skeptical of the Triangle, noting that they collect and publish, through their inquiries, much documentation contradicting many of the incidents written about by the Triangle authors. In one such incident involving the 1972 explosion and sinking of the tanker V. A. Fogg, the Coast Guard photographed the wreck and recovered several bodies, in contrast with one Triangle author's claim that all the bodies had vanished, with the exception of the captain, who was found sitting in his cabin at his desk, clutching a coffee cup. In addition, V. A. Fogg sank off the coast of Texas, nowhere near the commonly accepted boundaries of the Triangle.
The NOVA/Horizon episode The Case of the Bermuda Triangle, aired on June 27, 1976, was highly critical, stating that "When we've gone back to the original sources or the people involved, the mystery evaporates. Science does not have to answer questions about the Triangle because those questions are not valid in the first place ... Ships and planes behave in the Triangle the same way they behave everywhere else in the world."
Skeptical researchers, such as Ernest Taves and Barry Singer, have noted how mysteries and the paranormal are very popular and profitable. This has led to the production of vast amounts of material on topics such as the Bermuda Triangle. They were able to show that some of the pro-paranormal material is often misleading or inaccurate, but its producers continue to market it. Accordingly, they have claimed that the market is biased in favor of books, TV specials, and other media that support the Triangle mystery, and against well-researched material if it espouses a skeptical viewpoint.
Explanation attempts
Persons accepting the Bermuda Triangle as a real phenomenon have offered a number of explanatory approaches.
Paranormal explanations
Triangle writers have used a number of supernatural concepts to explain the events. One explanation pins the blame on leftover technology from the mythical lost continent of Atlantis. Sometimes connected to the Atlantis story is the submerged rock formation known as the Bimini Road off the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, which is in the Triangle by some definitions. Followers of the purported psychic Edgar Cayce take his prediction that evidence of Atlantis would be found in 1968, as referring to the discovery of the Bimini Road. Believers describe the formation as a road, wall, or other structure, but the Bimini Road is of natural origin.
Other writers attribute the events to UFOs. This idea was used by Steven Spielberg for his science fiction film Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which features the lost Flight 19 aircrews as alien abductees.
Charles Berlitz, author of various books on anomalous phenomena, lists several theories attributing the losses in the Triangle to anomalous or unexplained forces.
A paranormal explanation in the 2005 three-part US-British-German science fiction miniseries The Triangle, says the triangle is a wormhole.
Natural explanations
Compass variations
Compass problems are one of the cited phrases in many Triangle incidents. While some have theorized that unusual local magnetic anomalies may exist in the area, such anomalies have not been found. Compasses have natural magnetic variations in relation to the magnetic poles, a fact which navigators have known for centuries. Magnetic (compass) north and geographic (true) north are exactly the same only for a small number of places – for example, as of 2000, in the United States, only those places on a line running from Wisconsin to the Gulf of Mexico. But the public may not be as informed, and think there is something mysterious about a compass "changing" across an area as large as the Triangle, which it naturally will.
Gulf Stream
The Gulf Stream is a major surface current, primarily driven by thermohaline circulation that originates in the Gulf of Mexico and then flows through the Straits of Florida into the North Atlantic. In essence, it is a river within an ocean, and, like a river, it can and does carry floating objects. It has a maximum surface velocity of about 2 m/s (6.6 ft/s). A small plane making a water landing or a boat having engine trouble can be carried away from its reported position by the current.Gulf Stream
Human error
One of the most cited explanations in official inquiries as to the loss of any aircraft or vessel is human error. Human stubbornness may have caused businessman Harvey Conover to lose his sailing yacht, Revonoc, as he sailed into the teeth of a storm south of Florida on January 1, 1958.
Violent weather
Hurricanes are powerful storms that form in tropical waters and have historically cost thousands of lives and caused billions of dollars in damage. The sinking of Francisco de Bobadilla's Spanish fleet in 1502 was the first recorded instance of a destructive hurricane. These storms have in the past caused a number of incidents related to the Triangle.
A powerful downdraft of cold air was suspected to be a cause in the sinking of Pride of Baltimore on May 14, 1986. The crew of the sunken vessel noted the wind suddenly shifted and increased velocity from 32 km/h (20 mph) to 97–145 km/h (60–90 mph). A National Hurricane Center satellite specialist, James Lushine, stated "during very unstable weather conditions the downburst of cold air from aloft can hit the surface like a bomb, exploding outward like a giant squall line of wind and water."[31] A similar event occurred to Concordiain 2010, off the coast of Brazil. Scientists are currently investigating whether "hexagonal" clouds may be the source of these up-to-170 mph (270 km/h) "air bombs".
In August 2018, British scientists speculated that 100 feet (30 m) "rogue" waves could be the reason why so many boats have been sunk in the Bermuda Triangle.
Methane hydrates
Publications by the USGS describe large stores of undersea hydrates worldwide, including the Blake Ridge area, off the coast of the southeastern United States. However, according to the USGS, no large releases of gas hydrates are believed to have occurred in the Bermuda Triangle for the past 15,000 years. An explanation for some of the disappearances has focused on the presence of large fields of methane hydrates (a form of natural gas) on the continental shelves. Laboratory experiments carried out in Australia have proven that bubbles can, indeed, sink a scale model ship by decreasing the density of the water; any wreckage consequently rising to the surface would be rapidly dispersed by the Gulf Stream. It has been hypothesized that periodic methane eruptions (sometimes called "mud volcanoes") may produce regions of frothy water that are no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink very rapidly and without warning.
Notable incidents
Ellen Austin
Ellen Austin supposedly came across a derelict ship, placed on board a prize crew, and attempted to sail with it to New York in 1881. According to the stories, the derelict disappeared; others elaborating further that the derelict reappeared minus the prize crew, then disappeared again with a second prize crew on board. A check from Lloyd's of London records proved the existence of Meta, built in 1854, and that in 1880, Meta was renamed Ellen Austin. There are no casualty listings for this vessel, or any vessel at that time, that would suggest a large number of missing men were placed on board a derelict that later disappeared.
USS Cyclops
The incident resulting in the single largest loss of life in the history of the US Navy not related to combat occurred when the collier Cyclops, carrying a full load of manganese ore and with one engine out of action, went missing without a trace with a crew of 309 sometime after March 4, 1918, after departing the island of Barbados. Although there is no strong evidence for any single theory, many independent theories exist, some blaming storms, some capsizing, and some suggesting that wartime enemy activity was to blame for the loss. In addition, two of Cyclops's sister ships, Proteus and Nereus were subsequently lost in the North Atlantic during World War II. Both ships were transporting heavy loads of metallic ore similar to that which was loaded on Cyclops during her fatal voyage. In all three cases structural failure due to overloading with a much denser cargo than designed is considered the most likely cause of sinking.
Carroll A. Deering
Flight 19A five-masted schooner built in 1919, Carroll A. Deering was found hard aground and abandoned at Diamond Shoals, near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, on January 31, 1921. Rumors and more at the time indicated Deering was a victim of piracy, possibly connected with the illegal rum-running trade during Prohibition, and possibly involving another ship, Hewitt, which disappeared at roughly the same time. Just hours later, an unknown steamer sailed near the lightship along the track of Deering, and ignored all signals from the lightship. It is speculated that Hewitt may have been this mystery ship, and possibly involved in Deering's crew disappearance.
U.S. Navy Avengers
One of the search and rescue aircraft deployed to look for them, a PBM Mariner with a 13-man crew, also disappeared. A tanker off the coast of Florida reported seeing an explosion[43] and observing a widespread oil slick when fruitlessly searching for survivors. The weather was becoming stormy by the end of the incident. According to contemporaneous sources the Mariner had a history of explosions due to vapour leaks when heavily loaded with fuel, as it might have been for a potentially long search-and-rescue operation.Flight 19 was a training flight of five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers that disappeared on December 5, 1945, while over the Atlantic. The squadron's flight plan was scheduled to take them due east from Fort Lauderdale for 141 mi (227 km), north for 73 mi (117 km), and then back over a final 140-mile (230-kilometre) leg to complete the exercise. The flight never returned to base. The disappearance is attributed by Navy investigators to navigational error leading to the aircraft running out of fuel.
Star Tiger and Star Ariel
G-AHNP Star Tiger disappeared on January 30, 1948, on a flight from the Azores to Bermuda; G-AGRE Star Ariel disappeared on January 17, 1949, on a flight from Bermuda to Kingston, Jamaica. Both were Avro Tudor IV passenger aircraft operated by British South American Airways. Both planes were operating at the very limits of their range and the slightest error or fault in the equipment could keep them from reaching the small island.
There's a growing interest in the phenomenon of shadow people. What are they? Ghosts? Interdimensional beings? Time travelers? Something else?"What was that?" You were reading, sitting comfortably on your sofa in the dim light when some movement across the room caught your attention. It seemed dark and shadowy, but there was nothing there. You returned to your reading -- and a moment later there it was again. You looked up quickly this time and saw the fleeting but distinctly human shape of the shadow pass quickly over the far wall -- and disappear.
Was it a natural shadow? Your heightened imagination? Or a ghost? Maybe it was something that seems to be a spreading phenomenon -- apparitions that are coming to be known as "shadow people" or "shadow beings." Perhaps this is an old phenomenon with a new name that is now being discussed more openly, in part thanks to the Internet. Or maybe it's a phenomenon that, for some reason, is manifesting with greater frequency and intensity now.
Those who are experiencing and studying the shadow people phenomenon say that these entities almost always used to be seen out of the corner of the eye and very briefly. But more and more, people are beginning to see them straight on and for longer periods of time. Some experiencers testify that they have even seen eyes, usually red, on these shadow beings.
The mysterious sightings have become a hot topic of conversion in paranormal chat rooms, message boards, and websites, and it is given widespread attention on paranormal talk radio.
Several theories have been offered as to what shadow people are, and where they come from.
1. A Figment of the Imagination
The explanation we get from skeptics and mainstream science -- and who are usually people who have never experienced the shadow people phenomenon -- is that it is nothing more than the active human imagination. It's our minds playing tricks on us, our eyes seeing things in a fraction of a second that isn't really there -- illusions. Real shadows caused by passing auto headlights, or some similar explanation. And without a doubt, these explanations probably can account for some if not many experiences. The human eye and mind are easily fooled. But can they account for all cases?
2. Ghosts
To call these entities ghosts demands first a definition of what we mean by ghosts. But by almost any definition, shadow people are somewhat different than ghost phenomena. Whereas ghost apparitions are almost always a misty white, vapor-like or have a decidedly human form and appearance (very often with discernible "clothing"), shadow beings are much darker and more shadow-like. In general, although the shadow people often do have a human outline or shape, because they are dark, the details of their appearance is lacking. This is in contrast to many ghost sightings in which the witness can describe the ghost's facial features, style of clothing and other details. The one detail most often noted in some shadow being sightings are their glowing red eyes.
3. Demons or Other Spirit Entities
The dark countenance and malevolent feelings that are often reported in association with these creatures have led some researchers to speculate that they may be demonic in nature. If they are demons, we have to wonder what their purpose or intent is in letting themselves be seen in this manner. Is it merely to frighten?
4. Astral Bodies
One theory suggests that shadow people are the shadows or essences of people who are having out-of-body experiences. According to Jerry Gross, an author, lecturer, and teacher of astral travel, we all travel out of the body when we are asleep. Perhaps, this theory says, we are seeing the ephemeral astral bodies of these twilight travelers.
5. Time Travelers
Another theory is that people from the future could have found the means to travel to the past -- our time. However they are able to accomplish this incredible feat, perhaps in that state, they appear to us merely as passing shadows as they observe the events of our timeline.
6. Interdimensional Beings
Even mainstream science is fairly convinced that there are dimensions other than the three we inhabit. And if these other dimensions exist, who or what (if anything) inhabits them? Some theorists say that these dimensions exist parallel and very close to our own, although invisible to us. And if there are inhabitants in these other dimensions, it is possible that they have found a way to intrude on our dimension and become, at least partially, visible? If so, they could very well appear as shadows. It has long been held by psychics and other sensitives that beings on other planes of existence are of different "vibrations." Science is beginning to look at reality, on a quantum level, in the same way -- that particles of the smallest size exist as vibrations. Perhaps, some theorize, the vibrations of our existence are beginning to mesh with those of another dimension, which accounts for the increase in such phenomena as ghosts, shadow people and possibly aliens.
7. Aliens
The alien and abduction phenomena are so bizarre that it's no surprise that extraterrestrials are suspects as the shadow people. Abductees have reported in many cases that the alien grays seem to be able to pass through walls and closed windows and to appear and disappear abruptly, among other otherworldly talents. Perhaps, too, they can go about their alien agenda disguised in the shadows.
There's a good deal of overlapping among the above ideas, of course. Aliens and ghosts could be interdimensional beings, or aliens could be time travelers -- and some believe demons are responsible for all of these disturbing phenomena.
8. Simply a Mystery
There is no way to prove or disprove any theories about a phenomenon that is so mysterious, that happens so quickly and without warning. Science finds it virtually impossible to catalog or study such phenomena in any methodical way. All we can do, at present, is to document personal experiences and try to piece together what the shadow people phenomenon might be. Perhaps it's an old mystery becoming more recognizable -- perhaps it represents a doorway to and from different planes of existence... or perhaps they simply are just shadows.

What the Sh*t is that!? UFO flying over Charles de Gaulles airport in Paris
On the 11th of August a weird UFO was filmed near the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. The object did not make any noise, it flew between the clouds and performed several barrel rolls. At a certain point in the video, the object almost looks like something alive, a living creature.
Phytoplankton Is Affecting Earth's Climate in the Ocean's 'Twilight Zone'
By Chelsea Gohd, Space.com Staff Writer
NASA scientists are venturing into the ocean's "twilight zone" to explore how phytoplankton are affecting Earth's climate.
Phytoplankton are microscopic organisms that reside near the ocean's surface, where they soak up the sunshine. Mostly single-celled creatures, the phytoplankton play a supporting role in Earth's climate by taking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere through photosynthesis. But, while scientists understand how these creatures capture carbon, they do not know where the carbon event
ually ends up (and how long it stays there) when the phytoplankton get eaten by animals like zooplankton or die.
Phytoplankton blooms are seen in this image taken by the MODIS instrument on NASA's Aqua satellite. Phytoplankton influence Earth's climate, and researchers are working to figure out exactly how.

"The continued exploration of the ocean, its ecosystems and their controls on the carbon cycle as observed with advanced technologies by EXPORTS will provide unprecedented views of Earth's unseen world," Paula Bontempi, an EXPORTS program scientist at NASA Headquarters, in Washington, D.C., said in the statement.
This "unseen world," known as the twilight zone, lies 650 feet to 3,300 feet (200 meters to 1,000 meters) below the ocean's surface, where there is little to no light. This dim region is home to a wide variety of species, including zooplankton. Some species of zooplankton — which, depending on the species, can be microscopic like phytoplankton or large enough to be seen with the naked eye — live in this twilight zone but rise to the surface to feed on phytoplankton.
These creatures make a mass migration to the surface and return to the twilight zone at sunrise, according to the statement. So, the organic carbon that the phytoplankton take in is then "transferred," so to speak, to the larger zooplankton, which are then often eaten by larger animals.
Some of the organic carbon that travels from the phytoplankton to the zooplankton to larger animals re-enters the atmosphere through respiration — zooplankton, like all animals, breathe out carbon dioxide — and when those animals die and decompose, according to the statement. But some of this organic carbon, coming from feces or decomposed bodies, sinks down to the twilight zone.
The EXPORTS team is working to better understand this twilight-zone carbon, and how it may be contributing, ultimately, to Earth's climate.
"It's a tiny fraction, a fraction of a percent of biomass that makes it deeper down in the ocean where the water stays away from the atmosphere for a long time, from decades to thousands of years," Heidi Sosik, a senior scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and a member of the EXPORTS team, said in the statement. "We have pretty good information that tells us these processes are happening, but we have much less information to help us to quantitatively assess their impact on things like carbon cycling and, ultimately, Earth's climate."
Meteorite Bombardment Likely Created the Oldest Rocks on Earth

Scientists think rocks from space may be responsible for the very oldest rocks on Earth.
That's according to new research published today (Aug. 13), which argues that meteorite bombardment is the most likely way to explain the temperature and pressure conditions under which 4.02-billion-year-old Canadian rocks formed.
"We believe that these rocks may be the only surviving remnants of a barrage of extraterrestrial impacts which characterized the first 600 million years of Earth's history," lead study author Tim Johnson, a geologist at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, said in a statement released by the hosts of the Goldschmidt conference being held Aug. 12 through 17 in Boston, where the research is being presented.
The team of researchers studied a type of rock called Idiwhaa gneiss, which is more than 4 billion years old, found in northwest Canada and the oldest large swath of rock on Earth. Although scientists have identified some grains of even older rocks, those grains are so tiny they're practically microscopic.
Specifically, the team looked at the chemical composition of those rocks and modeled what conditions rocks with that recipe could have formed under. The magic combination seemed to be temperatures of up to 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit (900 degrees Celsius) partnered with low pressures.
That's a tricky combination to find under normal circumstances, the researchers said. Usually, hotter temperatures require traveling deeper into the earth, but pressures there are higher. The team found, however, that meteorites could solve that conundrum.
That's because when meteorites were common, in the early days of Earth, the impacts could have raised temperatures enough to melt rocks in the very top of the crust — just the first 1.8 miles (3 kilometers) or so ― without the rocks experiencing high pressures.
Most of the rocks produced during that time have fallen back into the Earth's interior through plate tectonics, melting away its identifiable characteristics. But the Idiwhaa rocks remain, where they were named by the local Tlicho people long before scientists came to analyze them.
The research is described in a paper published today in the journal Nature Geoscience.
A Fireball and a Wall of Sound: What NASA's Epic Solar Probe Launch Felt Like
By Mike Wall, Space.com Senior Writer
Parker Solar Probe: from factory to flight
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — It was a pretty good morning to be looking up.
Mars hung low over my shoulder, close and bright and fiery, as I stood on a causeway across the Banana River Sunday (Aug. 12) here at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. A slight breeze kept the mosquitoes away, and Perseid meteors popped up every now and again, carving brief and slender slivers of light into the predawn sky.
And then, at 3:31 a.m. EDT (0731 GMT), that dark sky lit up in a flash of brilliant orange as a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket, one of the most powerful boosters flying today, lifted off the pad. [Launch Photos! NASA's Parker Solar Probe Blasts Off to Touch the Sun]
That flash was silent at first, like the view of a faraway nuclear blast. But about 30 seconds in, a wave of vibrations spawned by the rocket's massive engines washed over the causeway. Those vibrations drowned out the insect-like clicks of camera shutters and the frantic splashing of predator-evading Banana River fish in a monumental wall of noise.
The Delta IV Heavy rocket carrying NASA's Parker Solar Probe carves a fiery trail into the predawn sky in this long-exposure photograph taken on Aug. 12, 2018.
"I'm in awe," Thomas Zurbuchen, the head of NASA's Science Mission Directorate, told reporters shortly after the successful liftoff. "It was a really clean launch."
There was one slight hiccup, however: The mission team lost telemetry about 40 minutes into flight, right around the time when the Parker Solar Probe was scheduled to separate from its rocket ride and start flying solo. But the connection was quickly re-established, eliciting raucous cheers from the folks in launch control (and from those of us at the press site at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, which is also here at Cape Canaveral).

If all goes according to plan, the Parker Solar Probe will fly through the sun's outer atmosphere, or corona, 24 times over the next seven years. The spacecraft will get within 3.83 million miles (6.16 million kilometers) of the solar surface, zooming through space at up to 430,000 mph (690,000 km/h) during these close flybys.
Both of those figures will shatter spaceflight records: No other spacecraft has ever gotten closer to the sun than 27 million miles (43 million km) or traveled faster than 165,000 mph (265,000 km/h).
The data gathered by the Parker Solar Probe during these close encounters should help scientists solve some long-standing solar mysteries, NASA officials have said — for example, why the corona is so much hotter than the solar surface, and how the particles that make up the solar wind are accelerated to their tremendous speeds. (These subatomic bits are moving between 900,000 mph and 1.8 million mph, or 1.45 million and 2.9 million km/h, by the time they reach Earth.)
NASA's Parker Solar Probe blasts off on epic journey to 'touch the Sun'
Those data will start arriving in early November, when the probe makes its first solar close approach. (However, an orbit-sculpting flyby of Venus in late September should yield interesting information about the second planet from the sun.)
That moment can't come soon enough for the mission's namesake, pioneering astrophysicist Eugene Parker, who predicted the existence of the solar wind back in 1958.
The 91-year-old Parker — a professor emeritus of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of Chicago, and the first living person to have a NASA mission named after him — came down to Cape Canaveral for Sunday's launch. Zurbuchen spoke with Parker shortly after liftoff.
Parker was deeply moved by the launch but "immediately switched to the next step, which is, 'I can't wait for the data — when are the data coming in?'" Zurbuchen said with a laugh. "It's like, 'OK, I'll send them to you, Gene. The moment we learn something new, I'll send it to you.' But it's going to be a while."
My previous article here at MU was titled “Roswell, UFOs, and ‘Worrisome’ Words.” It started as follows. QUOTE: “Kevin Randle has a new article online right now. Its title is ‘The Decline of Roswell.’ It’s on the matter of who, within the U.S. military, should have been briefed on what happened outside of Roswell, New Mexico in the summer of 1947, if indeed a UFO had crashed there. Kevin states that the late ufologist Karl Pflock discovered a ‘…document that reported on the Scientific Advisory Board Conference held on March 17 – 18, 1948, in the Pentagon. Colonel Howard McCoy was discussing Project Sign, the number of reports they had received, suggesting that there was something important going on. He said, ‘I can’t tell you how much we would give to have one of those crash in an area so that we could recover whatever they are.’
“Given that Colonel McCoy was the intelligence-officer at the Air Materiel Command and to Wright Field, Ohio (the very place where, supposedly, dead aliens from the Roswell site were secretly taken), then he should have known about – and he should have been briefed on – the crash of a UFO. McCoy’s words, though, suggest he knew zero about a UFO crash –anywhere.”
END OF QUOTE.
There is a lively debate going on at Kevin’s blog right now, on this very issue. One of those who commented on Kevin’s words used the alias of “Starman.” He suggests that McCoy may have chosen to state there had not been a single UFO crash as a specific means to “kill” any and all lingering whispers of Roswell. To keep it all under wraps, in other words. The problem with Starman’s theory is this: when the 1940s-era documentation was prepared, there was not even a single thought that, one day, the same documentation would ever enter the public domain – and for one and all to see – and thanks to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. If McCoy’s words had been directed at the public or the media, then a good case could be made to the effect that words along the lines of “We have no crashed flying saucers” really weredesigned to crush any talk of Roswell. It would be a great way to bring the rumors of crashed UFOs to a halt. But, McCoy’s words weren’t directed to the public or the media. They were directed to McCoy’s fellow colleagues in the military; high-ranking people who would have clearly known about a crashed saucer; just like McCoy would have.
Indeed, as Kevin himself notes in his article on this very issue: “Here’s where we stand on this. The documentation that does exist, that came from identified government sources, signed by the men involved who we are able to vet, suggest that they know nothing of crash recovered debris. Being who they were and what their jobs were, they would have known [italics mine] and the discussion would take a different track.”
For those in the UFO research community who believe that aliens crashed outside of Roswell (and which, I would suggest, is an extremely sizeable percentage of that same community) this is a big problem. A massive one, in fact. The McCoy documentation makes a convincing argument that flying saucers had not crashed. Anywhere. If ufologists are willing to work with their heads, rather than with their hearts, they might just realize that something really significant did happen relatively near Roswell, New Mexico in the summer of 1947. But, which had nothing to do with alien saucers.
Of course, if further damning documentation (whether concerning McCoy or one or more of his colleagues) appears, then we may see a welcome and refreshing eroding of the ET theory for Roswell and the growth of something arguably more disturbing. Namely, revelations concerning a controversial experiment of ours, and not an extraterrestrial incident. Should such a thing happen, I predict that Ufology will unravel quickly. Incredibly quickly. Shock will set in. The shakily-spoken words “it can’t be” will be uttered throughout Ufology. Urine will uncontrollably flow.
Then there are the spin-offs. If there are no crashed UFOs, then there are no dead aliens (whether at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, at Area 51, or at the Dugway Proving Ground). No back-engineering of UFO technology. No alien autopsies. In rapid time, all of these cornerstones of Ufology may quickly crumble. And to the point where they disintegrate.
Should all of that happen – and if Roswell collapses as a UFO event – I hope that Ufology will continue to realize there are still some genuinely baffling cases out there. And that, even without Roswell, there are good encounters to solve. But, taking into consideration just how much of a massive presence and influence Roswell has in this field, I honestly don’t think that Ufology – as it is today – can survive without the cursed case. That, however, is the collective fault of numerous ufologists, all eager to turn a genuine mystery into a tale of a crashed UFO – and championing that tale as often as possible.
UFO enthusiasts launch into frenzied speculation after video of motionless craft above North Carolina lake goes viral.... but is the truth a bit closer to home?
An unidentified flying object was spotted hovering over Lake Norman, near Charlotte on May 29 and it was captured on video
Jason Swing recorded the object on camera calling it a 'space craft'
Video is shaky but it has some UFO enthusiasts excited he caught it on camera
Meanwhile some conspiracy theorists believe it is an Advanced Military Aircraft
The video has garnered over 150,000 views with people speculating what it is
However the answer to the mystery of the hovering object may be more pedestrian than it seems at first glance
A video of an object hoovering eerily over North Carolina's Lake Norman has UFO enthusiasts eager to deduce we are being visited by extraterrestrial beings, but perhaps there is a more grounded explanation.
The footage recorded by Jason Swing on May 29, is extremely shaky but when the video isn't bouncing up and down it shows, clear as day, a large object that appears to be hovering in mid-air.
During the short clip Swing posted to YouTube he announces 'This is a spacecraft.' The clip is accompanied with a brief explainer of the video.
'It had been raining all morning. Rain finally stopped so we went (to) pick up a boat from Lake Norman,' Swing says in a post with the video. 'When (I) came around the corner I saw this thing sitting still very close.'
'This is a spacecraft': Jason Swing announces at the beginning of the eerie video shows a large object that appears to hover over Lake Norman in North Carolina
The video has garnered over 150,000 views and then it received an additional boost in viewers when on Thursday the YouTube video channel 'The Hidden Underbelly 2.0,' a site focused on UFO and creature videos picked it up.
While some people were excited about the possibility of the large object being a UFO, others wondered if the government was behind the large flying object.
On commenter on The Hidden Underbelly 2.0 channel said: 'I believe there are advanced Military Aircraft, in our skies. It's amazing people don't know how to use the video, and focus on their camera's. They are pre programming the masses, EVERYTHING lately is about Aliens and UFO's.'
They added 'Anytime, MSM, TV shows, Movies, all of a sudden exposing the "ALIENS from a Planet in Outer Space Invasion" False Flag Alert! I have popcorn ready for this Grand Deception!'
Others were gravely disappointed in Swing's shoddy camerawork, with on person saying, 'I know three year olds that have a steadier hand. Unwatchable.'
Swing (pictured) took the video, which some people were pretty upset turned out as shaky as it did, however he did seem pretty excited about the prospect that this could be a spacecraft
UFO? Some people commented that perhaps this isn't a UFO and its instead an Advance Military Aircraft
And yet others were more realistic with their guess as to what this flying object could be, with some people, likely accurately guessing, it was the GoodYear Blimp.
GoodYear saw the video, and claims, as much as some wish it were a UFO, that the object seen in the shaky footage, is there blimp that was in the the Charlotte area on May 29, for NASCAR's Coca Cola 600.
The GoodYear Blimp's account shared: 'We don’t want to get in the way of a good story, but that’s definitely us. We left the Charlotte area 5/29 after covering the Coke 600.'
North Carolina is also the home to multiple military bases, including Fort Bragg, Pope Air Force Base and Camp Lejeune Marine Corps facility.
Black holes, such as the one in galaxy NGC 3783 illustrated above, are some of nature’s most prodigious spewers of energy. Could that energy be enough to account for a long-standing mystery?
ESO/M. Kornmesser
Gaze up at the sky on a clear night, far from the city lights, and you might see the moon and some stars, a few planets and maybe even the fuzzy glow of the Milky Way. “In between, there seems to be nothing but emptiness and darkness,” says Xiawei Wang, an astronomy graduate student at Harvard University. “At least that was our view of the cosmos until 50 or so years ago when astronomers realized that space was not as empty as we once thought.”
In 1964, astronomers were surprised to discover a uniform sea of radiation coming from all directions, all the time. Later dubbed the cosmic microwave background (CMB), this low-energy light turned out to be the residual radiation from the Big Bang itself, cooled during its journey over the past 13.8 billion years. Studying the CMB has led to tremendous insights about the structure and composition of our universe, its exact age and even its shape.
In the decades since, astronomers have learned there’s much more to the unseen universe, finding background radiation at practically every wavelength observed. The highest frequency and most energetic background signals they’ve found are made up of a form of light called gamma rays, plus exotic particles called neutrinos and cosmic rays. And, unlike the CMB, the source of these emissions is still enigmatic. No one knows where they come from.
In three recent papers, Wang and her adviser, Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb, advanced a new idea that suggests not one source for this high-energy background, but literally billions.
It all comes down to a phenomenon called quasar outflows.
Initially discovered as unexplained signals picked up by Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson at Bell Laboratories (above), the cosmic microwave background (below) — the universe’s oldest light — is now mapped with incredible accuracy.

A Chorus of Quasars Quasars are among the most luminous objects in the universe. Each one greatly outshines the combined output of all the stars in their host galaxies. (For instance, in 2015 astronomers announced they’d found a quasar that shines some 400 trillion times brighter than our sun.)
All large galaxies have giant black holes at their centers, and a quasar forms when one actively starts feeding, pulling in matter like gas and dust. But this stuff doesn’t fall directly into the black hole — it circles around the abyss at ever-increasing speeds while spiraling inward. Eventually, the cosmic food becomes so hot (from friction) that it pours out light before some of it makes its way into the black hole. The object that generates this prodigious amount of light — the black hole and cloud of debris swirling around it — is a quasar.
But a black hole doesn’t eat everything in sight; its mouth is simply not big enough. Some of the surrounding material gets ejected in different ways. Ten percent of known quasars shoot out matter — at more than 99 percent of the speed of light — through a pair of spectacular jets.
Astronomers seeking a source for that exotic, high-energy radiation took a close look at these powerful jets. But observations showed they weren’t enough: All the universe’s quasar jets could account for only about half the gamma rays, and none of the neutrinos and cosmic rays.
The unexplained emissions, according to Wang and Loeb, may stem from a more subtle feature of every quasar: their milder but steadier outflows. What a black hole doesn’t eat, or shoot away in jets, it flings off at relatively moderate speeds — a few thousand miles per second, or about 1 percent the speed of light. After interacting with the local gas, these outflows can ultimately produce small amounts of all three components of the high-energy background: gamma rays, neutrinos and cosmic rays.
Individual outflows don’t release enough energy for us to notice, which is why no one really considered them before — but a big enough number of them would add up. And in Wang and Loeb’s scenario, the process is taking place at every quasar in the universe. A little energy times a lot of sources could, in theory, produce all that mysterious energy.
Running the Numbers Wang and Loeb set out to see if the numbers backed up their premise. In 2015, they started by focusing on gamma rays. Step one was trying to determine the tiny amount coming from each source. It wasn’t easy. They had to approach the problem theoretically because the emissions from an individual quasar are actually too weak for direct measurements. Drawing upon emissions in other wavelengths that they could observe for guidance, Wang and Loeb eventually came up with an estimate.
The next step was to factor in contributions from the billions of quasars in our universe to figure out the total gamma-ray signal from all quasar outflows. This calculation was also complex, incorporating estimates of the total number of quasars, their general distribution in the sky and the range in observed brightness. (Brighter quasars emit more gamma rays.) In the end, the total value Wang and Loeb arrived at, miraculously, was about half the gamma-ray background signal — perhaps comprising the “missing” half quasar jets could not explain.
Encouraged, they repeated this exercise in late 2016 and early 2017 for neutrinos, and then cosmic rays. In both cases, their tallied sums closely matched experimentally obtained values for the neutrino and cosmic-ray backgrounds. The numbers could work, suggesting they might have found the answer to the high-energy background problem.

ESO/WFI/MPIfR/APEX/A.Weiss et al./NASA/CXC/CfA/R. Kraft et al.
The Full Score Unfortunately, the idea remains hypothetical until astronomers can get direct measurements of all three forms of radiation coming from a single quasar outflow. Luckily, more sensitive instruments for detecting gamma rays, neutrinos and cosmic rays are in the works.
If their quasar outflow idea is ultimately confirmed, it would do more than just clarify a long-standing astronomical puzzle. “It would be another step toward answering the question of what’s out there in the universe and where it comes from,” says Wang. “Sometimes, the answers to the biggest questions in science lie in small and subtle things. These less visible entities are often neglected, but in the aggregate, they can be brighter and more powerful.”
She compares the situation to a piano concerto. The piano is loud enough to drown out any of the dozens of individual string instruments in a full orchestra. But when you put all the strings together, their contribution is substantial. In the same way, the cumulative output of quasar outflows could make a difference on a cosmic scale.
So the next time you look at the night sky, “remember that what we see with the naked eye is a tiny, tiny fraction of the things happening in the cosmos,” says Wang. Appreciating the piano concerto of the universe involves learning to hear all the instruments, no matter how faint and unimportant they might seem.
In a new paper published in Nature Astronomy, Tom Nordheim from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena and his colleagues put Jupiter’s moon Europaback on the front burner in the search for life beyond Earth.
They found that potential biosignatures such as amino acids might be preserved at high to mid-latitudes of Europa only a few centimeters below the moon’s icy surface. Even in the equatorial regions, where the radiation hazard is much more brutal, detectable levels of amino acids may still be recoverable at depths ofonly 10 centimeters—assuming the ice crust is not older than 10 million years.
On our own planet, of course, water ice is greatfor preservingbiological molecules. The problem on Europa is the huge amount of radiation that this moon receives from Jupiter. A lander mission would be challenging, as the spacecraft would have to be radiation-hardened.A human mission is completely out of the question.
But the astonishing results by Nordheim and colleagues, if validated by other research groups, open up new possibilities for exploration. Ifa spacecraft were to land in the right location on Europa, it would need only a heat source to melt the ice and a scooper to collect biologically interesting samples. No deep drilling would be necessary, which saves a lot of technology development and expense.
Ideally, a Europa landerwould search for biomolecules in regionsonthe moon’ssurface younger than the average age of 30 to 90 million years old(which is still comparatively young compared to other icy moons).A prime landing location would be thejumbled-up surface terraincalled the Chaos region, which is thought to be much younger than the average crust. A particularly good target would be the region from which transient water plumes have been detectedemanating from the moon’s surfacein the past. Here we would expect that water from the deeper Europanoceanis getting close to the moon’s surface.
The findings by Nordheim and his colleaguesshould swing Europa back tobeingthe top priority for astrobiology missions in the outer Solar System, surpassingSaturn’s moon Enceladus, which recently has received a lot of interest fromthe scientific community. Europa is the only body in our Solar System where not just microbial life, but conceivably also multicellularcomplex life, might be present—particularly if hydrothermal vent systems like the “black smokers”on Earth exist on the moon’s ocean floor. And perhaps we could find some of that Europan life, or more likely its traces, very close to the moon’s icy surface.
Mystery, murder and meditation meet aliens, federal agents and time travel in Calling All Earthlings. The documentary follows George Van Tassel, who mixed alien intelligence with the writings of inventor Nikola Tesla to come up with The Integratron, a time machine powered by electromagnetic energy. The documentary opens with a collage of witnesses testifying to strange lights, craft, and creatures with glowing red eyes, and then gets weird.
Tassel was far ahead of his time, both technologically and socially. He started a spiritual UFO cult which was stalked by busybodies worried about chants of love, peace and prosperity, while the FBI worked to infiltrate and influence the Integratron intelligentsia against their communistic ideas about free energy. Jack Parsons, the black magic rocket scientist who worked with the Great Beast Aleister Crowley and L. Ron Hubbard, explored free love as part of rocketry’s Suicide Club. But offering free energy proves more dangerous than a Babalon Working for Tassel.
Tassel was a former aircraft mechanic and inspector. He opened a small airport and cafe in the desert town of Landers, California, where some good smoke was being puffed, according to one of the locals interviewed. He set up shop next to a big rock considered sacred by Native Americans.
Tassel began the communication that led to the basic blueprints for the machine on August 24, 1953, when he was woken up by a man named Solganda who looked human and spoke English. The man from Venus gave Tassel plans for a dome that spins and creates a powerful electromagnetic field which promotes cellular rejuvenation allowing Van Tassel to grow old and wise enough to save humanity.
"Dedicated to Research in Life Extension,” the Integratron built as a “a time machine for basic research on rejuvenation, anti-gravity, and time travel.” The site in the Mojave Desert was chosen because of its proximity to magnetic vortices and its relationship to the Great Pyramids in Giza. The 21st century version of Moses’ Tabernacle is held down by a donut of cement that forms a small oculus at the apex of the dome. The structure is ringed by a rotating wheel of metal spikes. The two-story wooden building was metal-free. There were no nails or screws used because they could have interfered with the machine's conductive properties. He also inadvertently invented Ikea.
It took Tassel 18 years to build the dome about 20 miles north of Joshua Tree National Park. The work was paid for by covert payments from legendary recluse Howard Hughes, members of Van Tassel’s Ministry of Universal Wisdom, Inc., and revenue from an annual Interplanetary Spacecraft Convention.
Archival footage of Van Tassel shows a normal enough looking guy. He wears a tie, and lost a lot of hair for a man who has been rejuvenated. But it's when he goes into trance that he gets all Edgar Cayce, channeling love, harmony and good will from the cosmos. He became a follower of the Hindu Guru Paramahansa Yogananda, who started sending people on pilgrimages to help the man under the great rock.
Van Tassel channeled his messages during the beginnings of the Cold War, and the new-age movement. His story is ripe with paranoid mythology. Van Tassel died mysteriously in 1978 just before making a TV appearance. Ruled a natural death by heart attack, some think his wife, who cooked at the diner was a government agent who poisoned him. Van Tassel’s papers disappeared after he was cremated.
Jonathan Berman, previously directed Commune, about the 1960s commune Black Bear Ranch, says he's a skeptix who wants to believe in magic. The dome is a talisman to Berman. He doesn't explore what Van Tassel got from Tesla, he lets a medium channel Van Tassel's spirit. The experts who talk about the dome sound both impressed and a little off-kilter. Social scientists and futurists Dr. J.J. Hurtak and his wife Dr. Desiree Hurtak give running commentary, along with Bob Benson, who helped print Van Tassel’s the newsletter Proceedings. The score was recorded by guitarist Elliott Sharp, who slides his bottleneck while lounging on the desert rocks as part of the proceedings. Eric Burdon, former lead vocalist for the sixties British Invasion group The Animals. Burdon apparently spilled win and dug some girl in the Mohave Desert.
The FBI considered Van Tassel a "mental case,” according to declassified files used in the documentary, and scoffed at the belief that communication with extraterrestrials was possible. But the agency also wondered whether the annual Giant Rock Interplanetary Spacecraft Convention, which he hosted near a major military base for over 20 years his UFO conventions, was a commie front. Maybe because Van Tassel would have provided free sound baths to everyone.
These are the last words anyone ever heard Frederick Valentich say before his radio cut off and he, and the aircraft he was piloting, were never seen again.
On October 21, 1978, a 20-year-old Valentich rented a single engine plane out of Victoria’s Moorabbin Airport with plans of heading to Tasmania’s King Island to catch seafood.
But things took a terrifying turn when he noticed he was being followed by another aircraft.
It has been 40 years since the young Aussie pilot disappeared over the Bass Strait and in that time no one has come any closer to finding out what happened to him.

The only clue left behind was a radio conversation between him and Melbourne Airflight Service Controller, Steve Robey.
It was 7pm when Valentich radioed in to ask if there were any known aircraft in the area, just after something zoomed overhead.
Robey informed him that there was “no known traffic” in the area and inquired as to what type of plane it was.
“I cannot affirm. It is four bright, it seems to me, like landing lights. The aircraft has just passed over me at least a thousand feet above,” Valentich said.
As the transmission went on things got even more unnerving, with Valentich reporting that the mystery aircraft was “playing” with him.
“It seems to me that he’s playing some sort of game,” he said.
“He’s flying over me two, three times, at a time at speeds I could not identify.”
Valentich told controllers he could not identify the object.Source:Supplied
The conversation continues with the controller trying to get more information about what the object actually is.
Valentich describes it as long, metallic and with a green light.
At one point the aircraft vanishes before suddenly reappearing on his other side.
It’s at this point that Valentich says his final, terrifying words: “It is hovering and it is not an aircraft.”
There is silence for 17 seconds before the transmission abruptly cuts off.
An extensive search was conducted of the water and any surrounding land but Valentich nor any indication of a crash site was ever found.

The incident gained worldwide attention and sparked many conspiracy theories, with the most popular being that Valentich was abducted by a UFO.
Others concluded that he faked his own death or was flying upside down and the lights he saw were actually his own reflecting on the water before he crashed.
After the story came out there were contradicting reports about why the inexperienced pilot was heading to the island.
He had told his father that he was heading out to catch crayfish but later told flight officials that he was picking up some friends.
But even more questions were raised about Valentich’s intentions when it was revealed that he had not informed King Island airport of his intention to land.

In a disturbing coincidence it was also discovered that Valentich was obsessed with UFO’s and had watched numerous movies and collected articles on the topic.
A week after he vanished the young pilot’s dad, Guido, told reporters that he was sure his son was still alive and was adamant that he had been taken by the UFO.
“All I am worried about is that he was released in a different area, very far away from where he was taken,” he told reporters.
All that remains now of Frederick Valentich’s infamous flight is a plaque at Otway lighthouse commemorating his strange disappearance.
In the early morning of July 20, 1952, Capt. S.C. “Casey” Pierman was ready for takeoff at Washington National Airport, when a bright light skimmed the horizon and disappeared. He did not think much of it until he was airborne, bound for Detroit, and an air traffic controller told him two or three unidentified flying objects were spotted on radar traveling at high speed.
The controller told Captain Pierman to follow them, the pilot told government investigators at the time. Captain Pierman agreed, and headed northwest over West Virginia where he saw as many as seven bluish-white lights that looked “like falling stars without tails,” according to a newspaper report.
The sighting of whatever-they-were garnered headlines around the world. And in the decades since, U.F.O.s have become part of the pop culture zeitgeist, from “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” to “The X-Files.” In September, a star of that long-running series, Gillian Anderson, will appear in “UFO,” a movie about a college student haunted by sightings of flying saucers. A “Men in Black” remake is in the works. And the History Channel plans to air “Project Blue Book,” a scripted series about the government program that studied whether U.F.O.s were a national threat.
And the topic is back in the headlines. Last year, The Times wrote about a little known project founded in 2007, the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, to investigate U.F.O. sightings. A search of The Times’s historical archives reveals a rich bounty of U.F.O. sightings, loreand explanations since the 1950s. And who can forget in 2016 when Hillary Clinton said she would reopen the real X-files if she were president?
Captain Pierman’s 68-year-old daughter, Faith McClory, said in an interview last month that her father became something of a celebrity as reports like his in the summer of 1952 fueled fear of a space alien invasion.
“My sister has memories of men coming to our home,” said Ms. McClory, who grew up in Belleville, Mich. (She said they were reporters.) “People were enthralled with the flying saucers,” she added.
Researchers say government officials have sought to publicly debunk the existence of alien evidence ever since the Washington sightings.
“Unidentified flying objects exploded into the public consciousness then,” said Mark Rodeghier, the scientific director for the Center for UFO Studies, a group of scientists and researchers who study the U.F.O. phenomenon. “There was concern in a way you hadn’t seen before.”
It should be noted that the term U.F.O., as used by the government, does not mean extraterrestrials from outer space. It means any object in the sky that has not been identified. When asked recently about the 1952 Washington sightings, Ann Stefanek, chief of media operations for the Air Force, wrote in an email that the objects had posed no threat to national security.
In the spring of 1952, though, numerous mysterious sightings had captured the Air Force’s attention. It created “Project Blue Book” that March — the third investigative government project of its kind and the one that lasted the longest, until 1969.
The events in Washington were not the first unexplained encounter report. Debris from what observers called a “flying disc” had been spotted in Roswell, N.M., five years earlier, which Army officials said was from a “weather balloon.” By 1952, though, a number of sightings of U.F.O.s were being reported across the country and the nation was on edge.
Life magazine was one of the first mainstream magazines to suggest the phenomenon was real and revealed in an April story that the Air Force was secretly investigating. That story inspired a sharp increase in reports of sightings that summer.
The Washington sightings centered on events that started around 11:40 p.m. on July 19, as air traffic controllers at Washington National Airport noticed blips speeding near Andrews Air Force Base, according to government accounts. The unidentified aircrafts fanned out, flying over the White House and the U.S. Capitol. Captain Pierman saw them that night. They vanished around 5 a.m.
It was a second sighting a week later, though, that caused the wave of hysteria that forced the government to speak out. Albert Chop, then a spokesman with the Pentagon who was given the job of answering questions about U.F.O.s, said he was awakened by a call on the evening of July 26.
Mr. Chop described the events in a1999 oral historyto the Sign Historical Group, an association of archivists and amateur researchers whoheld a workshopthat year to study U.F.O history. He said the new objects were spotted on radar at Washington National Airport and he was told to get there right away.
The Air Force dispatched jet fighters from New Castle, Del., to intercept the flying objects. But every time one of the jets closed in, they disappeared. When the jets backed off, they reappeared.
“It was frightening,” Mr. Chop said. “I think everybody in the room was very apprehensive.”
At one point, a pilot found himself in the midst of four unidentified aircrafts and asked what to do. “I didn’t say anything,” Mr. Chop told the interviewers. “Nobody said anything. All of a sudden these things began to move away from him and he said, ‘They’re gone!’” The pilot returned to his base.
“These things hung around all night long,” Mr. Chop added.
The next day, almost every major newspaper wrote about the U.F.O.s. “‘Objects’ Outstrip Jets Over Capital,” was the headline in The Times.

“People didn’t know what to think of it,” said Rob Swiatek, a U.F.O. researcher and scientist, in a recent interview.“They were very disturbed.”
Public panic was a problem for the Air Force, which feared a diversion of resources during the Cold War. “The Air Force and the Central Intelligence Agency became worried that the Soviet Union would take advantage of the situation and launch an attack on the United States,” Mr. Rodeghier said. “They were looking at worst-case scenarios.”
Worse, no one could explain the phenomenon to President Harry Truman, according to press reports. One theory promoted by the Air Force was that a layer of hot air in the sky, called a temperature inversion, caused radar to mistake a weather event for flying objects. “Nobody had any answers,” Mr. Chop told the interviewers. “That’s why General Samford had the press conference.”
On July 29, 1952, Maj. Gen. John Samford, the director of Air Force intelligence overseeing the inquiry, held a news conference at the Pentagon to reassure the public. He dismissed the Washington sightings as a temperature anomaly. Still, the general conceded that not all the details could be explained by natural causes. Witness reports “have been made by credible observers of relatively incredible things,” he said at the time. “It is this group of observations that we now are attempting to resolve.”
After several sightings of unidentified flying objects in Washington in July 1952, government officials held a news conference, calling them “natural phenomena.” The press conference was front page news, including in The Times.
Case closed? Not quite.
“I don’t think temperature inversion had much to do with it, but the news media accepted that explanation at the time,” said Kevin Randle, a former lieutenant colonel in the Army who has studied the events of July 1952 and is the author of the 2001 book, “Invasion Washington: U.F.O.s Over the Capitol.”
In January 1953, spurred by the Washington sightings, a scientific committee led by Howard Robertson, a well-known mathematician and physicist, was formed by the government to explore the phenomenon. “One of the conclusions was that they needed to debunk U.F.O.s,” Mr. Randle said.
The committee, called the Robertson Panel, suggested in its report that the government conduct a mass media education campaign to “reduce the current gullibility of the public and consequently their susceptibility to clever hostile propaganda.”
The campaign to re-educate Americans did not work — U.F.O.s have persisted as a fixture in pop culture. Besides, the government’s explanation was not that convincing anyway. Ms. McClory, Captain Pierman’s daughter, said her father did not believe that the bluish-white lights he saw were weather-related.
“I don’t want to use the words ‘cover up,’” she said, of her father’s view. “But it was very clear. He saw it. Everything was seen on radar.”
The question has arisen as to whether Trump’s calling for a Space Force has anything to do with recent revelations that the Pentagon was conducting secret UFO studies. Those who believe there is a connection see signs that perhaps the Pentagon will reveal they have discovered a malevolent alien force and this Space Force will be our answer to combat them. However, digging into the details of the White House’s move to create the Space Force as a new branch of the military shows this idea has actually been debated for many years, and the enemies proponents of the plan are concerned with are human.
Ever since we sent up our first satellites, there has been a concern with how we will keep them safe. There is an international agreement not to weaponize space, but it can be argued the deal has been kept less out of respect for the agreement and more because no one has developed a weapon to put up there, as far as we know.
When Ronald Reagan was president, he proposed a network of space-based lasers to protect our satellites and to shoot down enemy missiles. His proposal was referred to as Star Wars and never got funded. Since then the U.S. Air Force has created Space Command. They have been tasked with the duty to protect space since the 90s. This new proposal would essentially create a U.S. Space Command as a separate branch from the U.S. Air Force.
Although Reagan’s Star Wars program was also accused of having a secret hidden agenda to shoot down aliens threatening humanity, the new proposed Space Force has no apparent extraterrestrial connection.

Hynek was a consultant to the U.S. Air Force’s official UFO investigations in the late 40s to the late 60s. A skeptic at first, Hynek went on to become a proponent of serious research into the UFO phenomenon. Mark is also a screenwriter, teacher, and blogger. He wrote episodes for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and has developed feature film projects with major studios, including Walt Disney and DreamWorks Animation. He is also the founder of the UFO blog High Strangeness. He lives in Wisconsin with his wife, Monica, and teaches screenwriting at DePaul University in Chicago.
In this episode of Open Minds UFO Radio, we talk to Mark about the upcoming History Channel series Project Blue Book. The series uses Hynek as a main character. Although it is fictionalized, this X-Filesesque program will be structured around real UFO investigations conducted by the U.S. Air Force.
Kevin Randle has a new article online right now. Its title is “The Decline of Roswell.” It’s on the matter of who, within the U.S. military, should have been briefed on what happened outside of Roswell, New Mexico in the summer of 1947, if indeed a UFO had crashed there. Kevin states that the late ufologist Karl Pflock discovered a “…document that reported on the Scientific Advisory Board Conference held on March 17 – 18, 1948, in the Pentagon. Colonel Howard McCoy was discussing Project Sign, the number of reports they had received, suggesting that there was something important going on. He said, ‘I can’t tell you how much we would give to have one of those crash in an area so that we could recover whatever they are.'”
Given that Colonel McCoy was the intelligence-officer at the Air Materiel Command and to Wright Field, Ohio (the very place where, supposedly, dead aliens from the Roswell site were secretly taken), then he should have known about – and he should have been briefed on – the crash of a UFO. McCoy’s words, though, suggest he knew zero about a UFO crash –anywhere. Kevin says of this: “Here’s where we stand on this. The documentation that does exist, that came from identified government sources, signed by the men involved who we are able to vet, suggest that they know nothing of crash recovered debris. Being who they were and what their jobs were, they would have known and the discussion would take a different track.”
Kevin continues: “For those believing Roswell involved the crash of an alien spacecraft, this has to be worrisome. It is arrayed against testimony that suggests otherwise. The problem is that it is just testimony and over the years much of that testimony has been found to be inaccurate. The longer we investigate the more of these testimonies have fallen by the wayside.”
All of this brings to mind an important question: how could something so significant have occurred near Roswell, but a man of Colonel McCoy’s standing and important connections apparently knew nothing about it? Well, it’s important to note that this is only relevant to those ufologists working on the assumption that what happened at Roswell, New Mexico involved aliens. Maybe, something of deep concern did indeed happen on the Foster Ranch, Lincoln County in the summer of 1947; something that was of national security proportions, and which McCoy knew all about. But, something that had nothingto do with flying saucers. Would Colonel McCoy have shared such a thing with others who may not have had a need-to-know about Roswell? Surely not. After all, consider this: the subject matter of the McCoy documentation was just flying saucers. As a good intelligence operative, he would hardly have brought up sensitive, secret military projects (and related crashes of military vehicles) in a debate only about saucers.
It’s worth noting that a great deal of controversial and highly secret programs were underway in the post-Second World War era, much of it undertaken in New Mexico – where the Roswell event occurred. Flying saucers, in other words, weren’t the only odd things soaring around the skies of the southwest. Back in 2012, I wrote an article here at Mysterious Universe, titled “UFOs: a Controversial Time-Line.” It gave a number of examples of how, and why, we should be open-minded to the possibility that what came down outside of Roswell was a craft attached to a highly secret program. Not of aliens, but of us. As I noted in that article: “During the latter stages of the Second World War, the Japanese military is working to perfect highly advanced balloons as a weapon of war – to the extent that on 4 June 1945, a Japanese military spokesman states that the launches of its ‘Balloon Bombs’ of the previous few months are merely precursors for something far more dangerous, including large-scale attacks with ‘death-defying Japanese’ manning the balloons.”
I continued: “At the close of hostilities, scientific, aviation and medical experts from Japan and Germany are secretly brought to the United States – via Operation Paperclip and its Japanese equivalent – where human experimentation and advanced aircraft research continues unabated and under the strictest security. As President Clinton’s Advisory Committee on Human Radiation Experiments notes: At least 1,600 scientists and their dependents were recruited and brought to the United States by Paperclip and its successor projects through the early 1970s.”
I also stated: “In the summer of 1947 and against this backdrop of (a) nuclear and biological tests on human subjects; (b) revolutionary aircraft programs; and (c) an influx of senior scientific, medical and aviation experts into the United States from Japan and Germany, a series of events and accidents occur in New Mexico that collectively become known as The Roswell Incident.”
So, where am I going with all of this? Well, I’ll tell you. There’s no doubting the fact that Colonel McCoy’s words have a negative and troubling impact on Roswell – but only if what happened at Roswell was extraterrestrial. We must be aware of this: In 1948, Colonel McCoy was specifically and only talking about, and commenting on, not having any knowledge of a crashed saucer. He was very particular on what he was talking about. If, however, what happened at Roswell was highly-classified, but completely unconnected to the UFO phenomenon – and the colonel knew this – there would be no reason at all for him to complicate matters by bringing up the Roswell affair in what was just a UFO debate. Simply because, as a military project, the Roswell incident would have had nobearing on the UFO phenomenon. We could argue that the only people who have turned the 1947 incident into a spacecraft event are us, the UFO community.
Colonel McCoy may not have known about a flying saucer crash at Roswell, but he may well have known about something elsethat came down at Roswell – and that it was terrestrial, highly-classified and very controversial. But, which had absolutely no relevance to the issues discussed in the March 1948 meetings in the Pentagon. So, he didn’t bring it up. There is not a single reason why he would have.
Perhaps, the goal should now be to search for just about any and all documents that concern Colonel McCoy, that were prepared by and for him, and that cover July 1947 onward. Maybe, some interesting data will surface…but it may not be relevant to flying saucers.

The Unheard Truth Behind Roswell’s UFOs | FREE Episode of Truth Hunter w/Linda Moulton Howe
1973 was quite a year for UFO reports in the United States. Amidst a countrywide rash of reports where people claimed to see unusual lights and, occasionally, more structured craft over America, one incident from that year stands out in UFO literature as being one of the most detailed and complex situations ever reported.
On the night of October 11, 1973, Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker were fishing together at an abandoned shipyard near the place they worked together. As the story goes, a blue light emerged from the clouds above them, and the men watched a football-shaped object descend and hover nearby, from which two very unusual “beings” emerged. Hickson and Parker were somehow forced onto the aircraft, in which examinations were performed on them before they were released again, bewildered and badly frightened.
The two men subsequently went to local authorities (and the press), at which time a secret recording was made by law enforcement of the two men privately discussing how terrified they were. Thus the world soon learned of what became known as the Pascagoula incident.
The details are astounding indeed, whatever they might entail. I say this not with cynicism about the pair’s retelling of events, per se, since the details of their story remained remarkably consistent over the years. However, despite being generally a “good case” as far as the crazier UFO reports go (there was never any evidence that the men had conspired as attention seekers, for instance), there are some peculiarities with Pascagoula incident that are worthy of mention.
For instance, as it must be admitted outright that Hickson and Parker’s story is quite unlike most other UFO reports. In fact, many aspects of the incident were completely unique and bore no common features with other popular UFO narratives. Chief among these had been the entities encountered during the experience: as skeptic Joe Nickel has noted in the past, “Three robotlike aliens exited from the craft; although they were gray humanoids just over five feet tall, they were otherwise of a type not reported before or since.”
The Clarion-Ledger recently reported that Parker, the younger of the two witnesses, has recently authored a book about his experience, in which he described the craft as it first appeared to them as follows:
“A big light came out of the clouds,” Parker said. “It was a blinding light.
“It was hard to tell with the lights so bright, but it looked like it was shaped like a football. I would say, just estimating, (it was) about 80-foot. (It made) very little sound. It was just a hissing noise.”
While the craft described by the witnesses is often likened to a blue-colored football, it is important to note how Parker describes it here, in “breaking his silence” about the incident after all these years (so says the Ledger at least; he’s actually discussed the incident several times, and has seemingly changed or updated aspects of his encounter over the years, more of which we’ll discuss later).
Hickson and Parker, shortly after the 1973 incident.
As Parker says, it was hard for he and his companion to tell precisely what the shape of the object was, due to the lights it produced. Additionally, although Parker says the object made little in the way of sound, he does describe a “hissing” noise, similar to the “zipping” noises described by the witnesses in previous interviews.
It might seem like a stretch to propose that this could have been any kind of conventional aircraft (i.e. something manmade). However, it might be worthwhile to compare this part of the narrative to another famous UFO incident from a few decades earlier: that of Brazilian farmer Antonio Villa Boas, who on an October evening in 1957 was taken aboard an unusual aircraft, and made to have sexual relations with a beautiful woman with large eyes and other appealing assets. Villa Boas described the aircraft that appeared on the night in question as being oval-shaped and having made little noise apart from a sort of whirring sound.
I recall talking with my friend and fellow Mysterious Universe writer Nick Redfern about the case a few years back, and remarking that Villa Boas “would have been able to identify the object had it merely been a helicopter.” What Nick said in response to this surprised me.
“Well hold on,” he began. I could hear him ruffling through papers and files over the phone, as he looked for his notes about the actual wording used by Villa Boas in the description he had given of the incident, rather than that of the later writings and rewritings about the incident in UFO literature, which simply described an oval or “egg-shaped” object. Sure as hell, in Villa Boas’ original description, he discussed there being something above the oval shaped craft that appeared to be spinning; in retrospect, the incident sounds a good bit like it could have involved some kind of helicopter, perhaps of a military variety that employs a variety of stealth technology that would lessen the sound of the helicopter blades (this fact has also been pointed out by researcher Mark Pilkington in his book Mirage Men).
With this in mind, if we give further consideration to Parker’s description of the object, where he says, “It was hard to tell with the lights so bright, but it looked like it was shaped like a football,” and that it made “very little sound” apart from a “hissing noise,” similarities do emerge between the two incidents. Granted, rather than being definitive details about the two alleged craft, what the similarities suggest is that neither man got a very good look at the actual shape of the object, and in at least one of the two cases, it sounded a lot like a helicopter of some kind!
Another interesting parallel between Parker’s narrative and the Villa Boas incident only came to light years later, when Parker began to express in interviews that he had apparently had additional “encounters” in the decades following Pascagoula. Parker also made the claim that many years later, his memories of the time he spent on board the aircraft in the original 1973 incident began to return, in which he recalled additional details that included a woman on board the craft, and that he was subjected to some variety of sexual examination while there. It’s not as far out as what Villa Boas reported from his time with a woman on board a UFO… but the similarities here are notable, regardless. But why did Parker only recall this so many years later, and why so often do these alleged abductions bear elements that involve sexuality in this way?
Parker wasn’t the only one who claimed to have had ongoing contact with these UFO beings, however. Hickson also claimed to have had numerous UFO sightings the following year, and further claimed that the “beings” on board the craft communicated to him “that they were peaceful.”
Another lingering question involves why Hickson and Parker seemingly cooperated with the beings that attempted to bring them onboard the aircraft. As Parker recently recounted for the Ledger, “I think they injected us with something to calm us down,” Parker said. “I was kind of numb and went along with the program.”
Nick Redfern has also speculated recently about the possible role of mind-altering drugs in some UFO cases. Citing similar ideas proposed by researcher Rich Reynolds, he recently wrote about it here at MU, saying:
“Having known Rich for far more than a few years, I should note that he has a deep interest in the possibility that at least some significant UFO incidents may have had a hallucinogen of some kind at their core. We’re not, however, talking here about using LSD for recreational purposes. Instead, we’re talking about situations which may have been utilized – by military and intelligence services – to, in essence, fake a UFO event.”
Faithful devotees to the idea of an alien presence, in relation to some of the more bizarre UFO events that have occurred over the years, will dislike such spe+culations presented here. However, the ideas should at least be given consideration, since they are of greater merit than the polarized views of hopeful Ufologists that have tossed all their chips in on an extraterrestrial hypothesis, or on the other extreme, the all-or-nothing skeptics who argue in every such instance that UFO “experiencers” are just liars, frauds, or publicity seekers.
Neither of these extreme views presents a truly objective assessment… something that will be required if we ever wish to understand the true circumstances behind some of these longstanding UFO cases.

Bigelow Says We Are Most Backward Country on UFOs
Bigelow Aerospace — the Las Vegas-based company manufacturing space habitats — is starting a spinoff venture aimed at managing any modules that the company deploys into space. Called Bigelow Space Operations (BSO), the new company will be responsible for selling Bigelow’s habitats to customers, such as NASA, foreign countries, and other private companies
Bigelow makes habitats designed to expand. The densely packed modules launch on a rocket and then inflate once in space, providing more overall volume for astronauts to roam around. The company already has one of its prototype habitats in orbit right now: the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module, or BEAM, which has been attached to the International Space Station since 2016. The BEAM has proven that Bigelow’s expandable habitat technology not only works, but also holds up well against the space environment.
Now, Bigelow is focusing on its next space station design: the B330. The habitat is so named since it will have 330 cubic meters (or nearly 12,000 cubic feet) of interior volume when expanded in space. That’s about one-third the volume provided by the ISS. Bigelow hopes to launch two B330s as early as 2021, on top of the United Launch Alliance’s Atlas V rockets, and the company even has plans to put a B330 around the Moon.
Robert Bigelow
Bigelow deactivated the National Institute for Discovery Science in 2004, after years of failing to capture the supernatural at the Skinwalker Ranch. In December, a New York Times story revealed that Bigelow Aerospace had conducted a study on UFOs—for the Pentagon.
The Pentagon’s Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program officially ended in 2012. But similar work continues today—involving people from both the defunct Defense Department program and Bigelow’s dismantled paranormal enterprise. They have become part of a for-profit company: To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science, which launched in October 2017 to research and reverse-engineer UFOs, among other goals.
Bigelow has gotten his fingers into lots of private UFO pies. Even before Skinwalker Ranch , he helped initiate the UFO Research Coalition, which puts his UFO-hunting career at about 24 years old. Robert Bigelow has been a strong advocate of UFO study and allegedly has debris from actual UFOs in his warehouse. Dr. Bruce Cornet who often provides data for these files worked for Bigelow in Las Vegas.
Bigelow, stated, “Internationally, we are the most backward country in the world on this issue,” Mr. Bigelow said in an interview. “Our scientists are scared of being ostracized, and our media is scared of the stigma.”
“China and Russia are much more open and work on this with huge organizations within their countries. Smaller countries like Belgium, France, England and South American countries like Chile are more open, too. They are proactive and willing to discuss this topic, rather than being held back by a juvenile taboo.”
USS Nimitz UFO incident
Date: November 14, 2004; Location: Pacific Ocean
Jack Sarfatti writes, The USS Nimitz UFO incident refers to a 2004 Radar-Visual encounter of an unidentified flying object by US fighter pilots of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group. In December 2017, infrared footage of the encounter was released to the public. Prior to the incident, early November 2004, the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Princeton, part of Carrier Strike Group 11, had been tracking mysterious aircraft intermittently for two weeks on an advanced AN/SPY-1B passive radar.
When the same event occurred again around 12:30 EST on
USS Princeton
14 November 2004, an operations officer aboard Princeton contacted two airborne US Navy jet fighters from USS Nimitz. The first fighter aircraft was piloted by Commander David Fravor, commanding officer of Strike Fighter Squadron 41, assisted by his weapon systems officer (WSO) in the back seat. Lieutenant commander Jim Slaight was aboard the second jet which was serving in the role as a wingman. The officers were training aboard two FA-18F Super Hornets in a routine combat exercise.
Princeton’s radio operator first asked the AWACS of the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 117, which was assisting the two F-18s to guide them to intercept the unknown aircraft. Princeton’s radio operator directly instructed the pilots to change their course and investigate and asked if they were carrying operational weapons; they replied that they were not.
The weather conditions for that day showed excellent visibility. When the jet fighters arrived on site, the crew of four saw nothing in the air nor on their radar. Looking down at the sea, however, they noticed a turbulent oval area of churning water with foam and frothy waves “the size of a Boeing 737 airplane” with a smoother area of lighter color at the center, as if the waves were breaking over something just under the surface. A few seconds later, they noticed an unusual object hovering with erratic movements 50 feet above the boiling water. Both Fravor and Slaight later
described the object as a large bright white Tic Tac 30 to 46 feet (10 to 14 meters) long, with no windshield nor porthole, no wing nor empennage, and no visible engine nor exhaust plume. According to Fravor “I have no idea what I saw. It had no plumes, wings or rotors and outran our F-18s. But I want to fly one”.
Fravor began a circular descent to approach the object, but he claimed the UFO was intentionally avoiding any short-range dogfight radar lock-on with “impossible” maneuvers [not in citation given] that made engagement difficult. As Fravor got closer descending, he reported that the object began ascending along a curved path, maintaining some distance from the F-18, mirroring its trajectory in opposite circles. Fravor then made a more aggressive maneuver, plunging his fighter to aim below the object, but at this point the UFO accelerated and went out of sight in less than two seconds, leaving the pilots “pretty weirded out”.
Subsequently, the two fighter jets began a new course to the combat air patrol rendezvous point. “Within seconds” the Princeton radioed the jets that the radar spot had reappeared 60 miles away at the CAP point indicating a speed of 2,400 miles an hour to cover the distance in the reported time. The jets went to investigate the new radar location, but “by the time the Super Hornets arrived […] the object had already disappeared.” Both F-18s then returned to Nimitz.
A second team took off at 15:00 EST, this time equipped with an advanced infrared camera (FLIR pod). This camera recorded an evasive unidentified aerial system on video, publicly released by the Pentagon on 16 December 2017 alongside the revelation of the funding of the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification
This footage is known as the 2004 USS Nimitz FLIR1 video. It officially shed some light on a decade-old story that was largely unknown, except for a 2015 second-hand story on FighterSweep.com that, in spite of providing a lot of details, remained unconfirmed at that time.
A second infrared footage, known as the GIMBAL video, has been released by the Pentagon alongside the 2004 FLIR1 footage. Although the media often present the two videos together to illustrate the 2004 USS Nimitz UFO incident, the GIMBAL video is unrelated, filmed at the East Coast of the United States at an unknown date.”
This is the smoking gun evidence that supports my 1952 Close Encounter with what claimed to be a time-traveling conscious computer AI on board if not identical with a “flying saucer” from our future. What the cold metallic voice said would happen in “twenty years” did happen and continues to happen with increasing intensity. It was no coincidence that I was asked by agents of USG as early as the 1950s to work on the physics of these craft as well as the consciousness that controls them. It was no coincidence that I was involved in the 1974 CIA operation with Uri Geller at the University of London with David Bohm that got mainstream media attention as the Tic Tac Nimitz incident is getting now. It was no coincidence that I played a key role behind the scenes in President Reagan’s decision to create SDI that triggered the downfall of the Soviet Empire in 1989. It was no coincidence that I was invited to the DARPA NASA Star Ship meetings in 2011 where I presented the fundamental Einstein physics of how the Tic Tac type craft fly without needing the enormous amounts of energy that naive calculations predicted.
The physics of consciousness is closely connected to the physics of the time machines from our future that have been interfering in our evolution all along. We are just now beginning to realize the role that destiny plays in quantum mechanics and low power metric engineering that we are witnessing in the flight of the Tic Tac. Thanks to Jack Sarfatti
This stunning discovery by a published scientist of over 30 years would be the envy of most professional paleontologists and the pride of any university associated with it except for one What he found is an inconvenient truth for the evolution theory.
World Net Daily reported that a team of attorneys is jumping to the defense of a scientist who was fired after making the stunning discovery of soft tissue attached to a triceratops This undermined the belief that dinosaurs roamed earth no less than 60 million years ago and supported the Christian belief that dinosaurs were here only thousands of years ago. The Pacific Justice Institute said its case on behalf of Mark Armitage alleges that a university official where Mark Armitage worked shouted at him, “We are not going to tolerate your religion in this department!” The suit against California State University Northridge, filed recently in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the board of trustees, alleges discrimination.
“Terminating an employee because of their religious views is completely inappropriate and illegal,” said Brad Dacus, PJI “But doing so in an attempt to silence scientific speech at a public university is even more alarming.
ABOUT THE DISCOVERY of Soft Tissue
Armitage was at a dig in the Hell Creek formation in Montana in 2012 when he came up with “the largest triceratops horn ever unearthed at the ” Later, while examining the specimen under a high-powered microscope at CSUN, he discovered the soft tissue. The discovery stunned members of the scientific community because it indicates that dinosaurs roamed the earth only thousands of years in the past rather than going extinct 60 million years ago. Armitage was then dismissed. He is in the Microscopy Society of America, the Southern California Academy of Sciences and the American Society of Parasitologists.
School officials previously had described him as “tops.” “He has patience, great expertise and practices great ” But his discovery of the soft tissue, which according to most scientific perspectives should have completely decayed millions of years ago, sent a shock wave through the department where he worked.
In the light of examples such as this, the phrase ‘Alternative Science’ seems less a contradiction in terms and more a harbinger of something that professional science is likely to see more and more of in
A short while ago I reported on a colossal cover-up which should concern all of When you also consider the fact that many other dinosaur bones (and other things that are supposed to be millions of years old) are dated as only being 22,000-41,000 years old, you have to at least conclude that there is something wrong somewhere. Either the carbon-14 dating system is not as robust as some want to believe, or the fossils are not as old as some want to believe. Dr Armitage has won $500,000 from the University for firing him and has now located more soft tissue on dinosaurs. I find it ridiculously hypocritical that evolution proponents go on to slam Mark Armitage for calling it what it obviously was while knee-jerk lawsuits shunt the court system striking down anyone, specifically any Christian, for so much as mumbling opposition to the hulking will of legalist atheists. The court’s judgement counts as a win for theGod of creation.
Mars Disaster
Mars River Valleys
Was there once a vast, technologically advanced civilization on Mars and did it leave evidence of its existence behind for humans to find eons later? Did these advanced extraterrestrial visitors vanish in a solar system wide cataclysm of their own making, only to make their way to Earth and start anew? Was Mars once as lush and green as the Earth and teeming with life? Was there once a vast, technologically on Mars and did it leave evidence of its existence behind for humans to find eons later?
Plasma physicist Dr John Brandenburg has written a book on the theory that ancient civilization on Mars was wiped out by a nuclear attack from another alien race. ‘
In his bizarre theory, Dr Brandenburg says ancient Martians known as Cydonians and Utopians were alive in an ancient society that was attacked.
Ancient Martian civilization was wiped out by nuclear bomb-wielding aliens – and they could attack Earth next, claims physicist,
Dr Brandenburg reported scientist presents his theory that ancient life on Mars was massacred. He says there is evidence for two nuclear explosions on Mars that was apparently wiped out with two races – the Cydonians and Utopians
Detection of uranium and thorium on the surface is evidence for these past explosions, he claims
And he warns we should be wary of a similar attack on Earth
He claims he can scientifically prove that two Martian civilizations were annihilated by nuclear weapons.
As far as we can tell, Mars is a desolate-looking desert, with no obvious life. Sure, there may still be microbes there, but I think it’s safe to say that there is not an advanced civilization living on the Red Planet. But was it always that way? Did Mars once host a bustling civilization, one that perhaps was capable of nuclear warfare? Let’s check in with some conspiracy theorists to find out.
For scientists trying to understand what ancient Mars might have been like, the red planet sends some mixed Water-carved valleys and lakebeds leave little doubt that water once flowed on the surface. But climate models for early Mars suggest average temperatures around the globe stayed well below freezing. New findings from NASA’s Curiosity Rover provide evidence that significant amounts of oxygen once permeated the atmosphere of ancient Mars….https://gizmodo.com/ancient-mars-was-even-more-earth-like-than-we-imagined-1782…
Jackie Gleason’s UFO House
Jackie Gleason is remembered for playing the straight-talking New York city bus driver Ralph Kramden in The Honeymooners, but there was another side to him that fans didn’t see.
He was fascinated by all things paranormal, and he strongly believed in the existence of UFOs and
In the mid-’50s, he took his interest in UFOs to the next level by building a compound of spaceship-shaped houses in Peekskill, New He built a main house called the Mother Ship and a guest house called the Scout Ship.
The 50-foot-wide main house was custom-made by a ship builder in an airplane hangar, then transported to Gleason’s The unique, round structure has no right angles, and along with the guest house there are five bedrooms, six baths, a library, an entertainment space, a curved kitchen and more.
An incredible curved marble stairway leads to the upper level, and huge windows give the entire home a light, airy
The home was recently for sale for $12 million, according to com.
Claude Atkins said, “President Nixon showed Jackie Gleason an Alien”
My wife was on vacation with girl friends near Miami, Florida at Environ on property owned by Jackie Gleason She phoned me and was excited about telling me her story about meeting and talking with the actor Claude Atkins who was very friendly.
Claude was playing golf with the comedian and actor Jackie Gleason at his golf course outside Miami, and my wife was watching them Later Claude and my wife were talking and he told her that Gleason had just revealed President Nixon took Gleason to Homestead Air Force Base and showed him an alien body.
Apparently, Gleason often played golf with President Nixon and they were close friends during Nixon’s presidency from January 20, 1969 – August 9,
The Jackie Gleason Show was popular from 1952 to 1970), and which centered on his most beloved character, bus driver Ralph He later was featured in Smokey and the Bandit Movie in 1977, and its sequels in 1980, and 1983. Gleason’s home was built in the shape of a UFO.
Claude Atkins was a close friend of Jackie Gleason and was the star of the Trucker series “Movin On” a show about independent truckers fighting corruption and moving loads around the nation in their big rigs between 1974 and 76.
The Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment, a super-duper radio telescope, has detected the first low-frequency fast radio burst, a class of rare extragalactic emissions of an unknown
Fast radio bursts (FRBs) were first spotted over ten years ago. Since 2007, there have been around 30 confirmed sightings. On July 25, CHIME recorded a weird signal codenamed FRB 180725A at 17:59:43 UTC emitted at 580 MHz – a lower frequency than most FRBs.
“The automated pipeline triggered the recording to disk of 20 seconds of buffered raw intensity data around the time of the The event is clearly detected at frequencies as low as 580 MHz and represents the first detection of an FRB at radio frequencies below 700 MHz,” according to a post on The Astronomer’s Telegram, a webpage where astronomers can quickly post their new observations.
In a diagram measuring the radio frequency over time, there is a clear bright streak beginning below 600 MHz. The burst quickly disappears after 2 milliseconds.
FRB 180725A, was detected in real Hunting for these mysterious signals is tricky and most of it comes down to luck since scientists don’t know their origin and they often don’t repeat – except FRB 121102, the only one that has popped up in exactly the same spot.
Mt. Shasta Conference
Mt. Shasta is an inspiring place as we drove up 9.000 feet on a windy road with smoke from the fires filling the valleys. Mount Shasta is a potentially active volcano in the Cascade Range of California at an elevation of 14,179 feet. The view is breathtaking and we tried to make contact with the people who allegedly live underground but had no contact. Dianne Robbins wrote her Telos book about the underground City of Telos under Mt. Shasta. UFOs were seen over the area for the entire week at the Venus With Love Conference that was a great success despite the road closures due to fires. On the night of July 28, about 100 people watched a fast moving, bright white orb dart and zigzagging across the heavens.
The UFO conference brought out 200 people from around the world to hear 10 speakers talk about extra-terrestrials, living on other planets and contacts with space aliens. Frank Chille and Major George Filer flew in from New Jersey. Frank presented fresh information on the early years of the contactee movement; while Major Filer highlighted some of the more impressive UFO reports
Robert Potter, coordinator for the conference said, “Until we stop wars and negativity, they (ETs) are staying at a distance. They are willing to work with us to heal our planet.. So many things would change if we welcome and embrace their offer of help.”

UFO Sightings in the United States
Arizona Light
Fort Mohave — Saw what looked to be a golden star shaped object over our shop in the night sky. I took a photo with my nephew present on July 17, 2018
The photo was more sharp but seems to be degrading over time. What is this thing? Used a 40X zoom, cannonB500 Coolpix camera. Showed my sister and niece- They thought it looked like an angel blowing a trumpet, but too difficult to see it as it is degrading. It was stationary=wondering if it is a hologram? Have taken many such odd photos here the last year. Want to know what is going on over my backyard at night. have enclosed two mo. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Arkansas Lights
Bentonville — There had been a big fire burning near Fort Smith, Arkansas.Channel 5 news has a webcam of the Pocola fire.
Anyone could watch the fire burning from this cam. I don’t sleep well so I looked at that cam at approximately 3:00 to 4 am. The fire was out and only a little smoke was seen. I looked up in the sky above the smoke and saw the attached. I took several screenshots and this is what I saw. I thought it might be Mars since it is close Thanks to MUFON CMS
California Object
Walnut — I just got back home late and as I arrived, my dad was out watering the lawn on August 4, 2018. Dad tells me to go outside there is a strange flying object that he’s seeing. When I looked up it was indeed a strange aircraft flying above us, I immediately thought UFO because of its strange flight pattern. I’ve seen many videos and this was one that I am now actually encountering in real life. It was the size of 4 basketballs from his perspective. It looked to me like a spherical object with 3 distinct orange dots. There were flames coming out of it. the orange lights of the craft pulsated slowly in a steady predictable pattern, the lighting of it would fade and come back. It started to get more distant as it gained more altitude faded out and disappeared.
Indiana Object
Gary –I was waiting for my wife and I decided to get some pics of the old Methodist church on June 30, 2018. I did not see the object until I was using the video camera on my phone, which is an Lg K7. When I looked at the phone at the object it was hovering and appeared to be spinning at about the height of the churches roof. It made a very fast circular motion and dipped down below my line of sight. It then came back up still spinning. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Georgia Lights
Buford — I was looking out my kitchen window and saw beautiful rainbow and I thought it was rather large and very close to the house on May 10, 2018. I went out to my back porch with my cell phone and started taking pictures of the rainbow. My niece came out and she was also amazed and then it suddenly started to become a double rainbow. Later I looked t my pictures and was shocked to see bell shaped UFOs hovering through the rainbow! A possible dimensional portal ? Thanks to MUFON CMS
Montana Disc
Scouting for elk in northwest Montana I saw later in my photo a disc shaped UFO..
I have no idea what it is. Looks to be hovering .
The photo was taken on August 3, 2018. Thanks to MUFON CMS
New Jersey UFOs
Burlington — Did anyone mention hundreds of UFO’S the other night. I was sitting outside the other night in Burlington, and wave after wave of lights, looked like stars moving, passed over me for about a half hour on July 24, 2018. I took a video with my phone, but they were really high up. No strobes, like planes, just white lights traveling from Trenton area towards Medford.. Ron Dobisch dlfglobalinc@gmail.com
New York Cylinder
Tonawanda (Amhers ) — My family and I were on a summer vacation going to see Niagara Falls. on August 4, 2018. At the time I was in a dark part of Ellicot Park and there was a live concert going on. I was trying out my new Canon Vixia 57x zoom camera videoing the planets (Jupiter and Mars are out and to the south) when I saw the UFO rise out of the east. The object is flying toward me as the UFO drops something. After 2 minutes 30s the object disappears. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Oregon Disc
Newport — My husband and I were vacationing in Newport, on August 3, 2018,. I suddenly awoke for no reason at 11:30 PM, from my ocean view room. Upon wakening, I propped myself up on my elbow to peer out the window to see a well-lit glowing orange bell-shaped rounded saucer. It crossed the window, making no sound, and maintained a straight trajectory, moving from north to south. It was traveling at a pace that took 2-3 seconds for it to cross the frame of the hotel window. I ran to the window and
looked down to the right and noticed a couple lighting firecrackers. They seemed to not notice. The craft was so close, I could see the outline of its shape clearly, for it emanated a strong light, much like how the moon glows. It cast no rays or beams of light and did not have any lights on it. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Texas Orbs
Eagle Pass – I did not personally see this event but many people in Eagle Pass and its neighboring border town of Piedras Negras did on August 8, 2018. If you go to Facebook and search up Eagle Pass lights or lights over Eagle Pass, you will most likely find the video footage that I’m talking about. Apparently many people saw it happen on both sides of the Border. I’m not too sure about the time but it was after Sunset because the video shows a very dark sky. The lights are very easy to see. At first it seems like there is one right here and one right there but then you can see them making a sort of circular pattern. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Virginia Starship
Monroe Institute — At night on August 6, 2018, I had an extremely good sighting of a starship, possibly the best that I have ever had. I pretty much knew that I would see something this night. It was almost as if the star beings were communicating with me beforehand, you know, telepathy. Out of the west/northwest sky, about a quarter to 10 PM heading in an easterly direction, I saw this whiter vehicle come from behind the trees and traverse the sky. The vehicle had a huge white light that didn’t flash, maybe 3 times as bright as the brightest thing in the sky. Mars was up and you know how big that was, and this vehicle was completely silent. No it was not an airplane. It was definitely the star craft that had beforehand been promised for me to see. For some reason, I inherently knew this.
I watched the light for about a half a minute until it was overhead and then the light extinguished itself. There were no clouds in the sky for it to hide behind and I made sure that I watched the place where the light vanished for about two or three minutes to see if the star craft would power up again. It didn’t, so I went into my house because I knew that I would not see anything quite so spectacular this night and the mosquitoes were biting pretty badly, too. Love and Light, Dan Johnson
Worldwide UFO Sightings
Australia Orbs
Anakie Victoria — Two bright reflective orbs I noticed vertical to each other on a clear sky against the setting sun on September 20, 2017. I thought it was the sun reflecting on to dissipating clouds but was far too bright and a silver metallic color the way they were moving was too fast to be a cloud. We stopped and noticed no other clouds in the sky and it was very bright and metallic silver color as they started to separate and change axis then split up and go in different directions. Later I was showing someone the photos I took and zoomed in to my amazement two other dark shaped cone orbs. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Canada Lights
Success, Saskatchewan — A man found a strange object in the background of a photo taken with his “critter” (game) cam on July 3, 2018, . He sent the photo which was scanned. He stated that the small gate and box in the photo is about 80 feet from the camera.
Note: The object in the photo is likely an insect. The long exposure of the camera set at night produces a multi-second shot of the insect. Thanks to William Puckett, Director Http://www.UFOsnw.com
Germany Object
Berlin — I was walking my dog and I noticed a plane in the sky and caught my attention because it was so extremely clear on August 6, 2018. I could see the plane in detail. It was a big one and really high. As I was watching the plane another object caught my attention. At first I thought it was a very bright and big star, too bright and too big for this sunny summer day at 2 pm. I noticed very soon that it was a metallic object that sometimes disappeared for about 2 seconds and appeared again. I took some photos and videos that my Motorola didn’t really take good images. Today, 09.08.2018 I was abducted, but I’m going to have to open another report for this because I can’t choose 2 different dates for a report.
Poland Disc
Polanow — I was in the kitchen drinking tea on August 9, 2018, and a few nights before I noticed this object beaming red light, and thought it was a star. When I looked closely I noticed movement. Couple nights later, I saw this object again and asked my mum to try film it as her phone has better camera than mime. When she zoomed as much as possible we saw that it changed positions so rapidly that nothing we know of could do such things. The object was jumping from one place to another. Light was constantly beaming red and white. There was huge flash of white light. I saw a plane flying above it. My mum took couple of pictures which stunned us because it looked like a disc from UFO movie. Thanks to MUFON CMS
UK/England Light
Essex — We were enjoying the sunshine in the garden (not drinking on August 5, 2018.. As we live under the flight path of Heathrow airport I like to watch the large passenger planes on a clear day. I looked up to the east and noticed a flash of light. It looked out of place as it was clearly not moving. At first it looked clear as a cylindrical object reflecting the sun. I text my sister who lives a few roads away and she caught the object on her phone camera (picture & video), it very slowly moved to the north east (in a different direction to the clouds), the sighting lasted about 1 hour when the object disappeared. My father, my sister and her husband saw the object. Multiple planes flew past the object (their port side, further to the north). Thanks to MUFON CMS

Video shows ‘huge UFO’ emitting strange hum as it hovers over lake
Jimmy McCloskey
Shaky video footage shows what appears to be a huge UFO emitting a strange humming noise as it hovers over a lake.
Jason Swing recorded the large gray object sitting in the sky for over two minutes close to Lake Norman near Charlotte, NC. Swing, who shot the clip on May 29, calls the object a ‘space craft’, and adds: ‘It had been raining all morning.
‘Rain finally stopped so we went (to) pick up a boat from Lake Norman.
‘When (I) came around the corner I saw this thing sitting still very close.’
He films the object for around a minute, before declaring ‘This is all I can get.
I gotta go.’ The video gained widespread attention after being spotted by the Daily Star last week, with viewers offering a range of theories as to what it shows.
Some claimed they had seen similar ‘cigar-shaped objects,’ and speculated whether it was an alien spacecraft.
But skeptics wondered whether it was just a blimp floating by – and criticized Swing for not holding the camera steadily enough.
Do these Google Maps images really show 'China's Area 51'? Conspiracy theorists claim Stonehenge-like structure spotted in the Gobi desert is a 'secret military base'

It is not the first time a Google Maps satellite has spotted bizarre structures during a sweep of the vast desert
Sharp-eyed conspiracy theorists claim to have spotted a secret 'military base' in the middle of the Gobi desert.
The circular formation of buildings, which has been likened to the shape of Stonehenge, was spotted between Kathmandu in Nepal and Mongolia on Google Maps.
The site has been branded 'China's Area 51' by some wayward conspiracy theorists, while others have speculated it could be a huge circular array of solar panels or a secretive military base.
The site is less than 100 miles (160km) from Jiuquan, where China's space programme headquarters and launch pads can be found, suggesting may have a military purpose.
MailOnline has contacted military experts to find out if they know the function of the structure.
This is not the first time a Google Maps satellite has photographed such structures during a sweep of the vast desert, which have subsequently sparked a number of strange theories around what they could be.

Sharp-eyed conspiracy theorists claim to have spotted a secret 'military base' in the middle of the the Gobi desert. The strange circular formation, which has been likened to the Stonehenge, was spotted between Kathmandu in Nepal and Mongolia using Google Maps
Conspiracy theorists Blake and Brett Cousins, who run the popular YouTube channel 'thirdphaseofthemoon', believe the circular site is a 'runway for extraterrestrials'.
According to the video creators, three aircrafts are clearly stationed in the middle of the circular base, with trucks and control towers also stationed around the site.
'Three airlines within the circular formation of rocks and buildings, I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at,' the Cousins brothers wrote. 'It almost looks like Stonehenge from this aerial view'.
The Cousins brothers also suggested it could be 'an area 51 for China'.
Readers flooded the controversial post with their own opinions about exactly what caused the formation.
'Maybe it's a huge solar panel for under ground living,' wrote YouTube user 'Jolene N'.
A user called 'Steve' said that it 'looks like a old military base'.
'Stop with the hype, it's a test rang for reconnaissance aircraft, their cameras and targeting equipment,' wrote another YouTube user who comments under the name 'joshreynolds72'. (sic)
WHAT MAKES SOMEONE BELIEVE IN CONSPIRACY THEORIES?
Over the course of three online-based studies, researchers at the University of Kent showed strong links between the belief in conspiracy theories and certain psychological traits.
Narcissism and self-esteem levels have a large impact on a persons belief in conspiracy theories.
The results showed that people who rated highly on the narcissism scale and who had low self-esteem were more likely to be conspiracy believers.
However, while low self-esteem, narcissism and belief in conspiracies are strongly linked, it is not clear that one - or a combination - causes the other.
But it hints at an interesting new angle to the world of conspiracy and those who reinforce belief.
There are widely believed to be three main reasons as to why people believe in conspiracy theories.
The desire for understanding and certainty - Seeking explanations for events is a natural human desire.
The desire for control and security - Conspiracy theories can give their believers a sense of control and security.
The desire to maintain a positive self-image - People who feel socially marginalised are more likely to believe in conspiracy theories and it gives them a sense of worth in the UFO community.
These three things tie in with the previously stated qualities and combine to create an avid conspiracy theorist. This is not the first time strange formations have been spotted in the Gobi desert.
Previously, a set of strange shapes were spotted in a similar area on the borders of Gansu province and Xinjiang in northwestern China.
The internet was buzzing with theories about what their purpose was, with suggestions ranging from giant QR readers to practise targets for military satellites.
Unidentified: One bizarre structure (pictured) was spotted by a Google Maps satellite on the borders of Gansu province and Xinjiang. The internet was buzzing with theories about what their purpose was, with suggestions ranging from giant QR readers to practise targets for military satellites
Some internet users have been trying to overlay one of the strange structures on to various U.S. city maps, worried that there may be a sinister military purpose behind them.
Others have pointed out that if China wanted to attack a US city, it doesn't need a practise map in the desert.
It is also difficult to tell what the structures are made of – whether they are painted on or dug into the landscape.
Speculation: Some internet users have been overlaying the strange structures over maps of US cities while a closer view shows burnt out vehicles (right) which have raised questions about whether the desert has been used for military purposes
Close-up: Experts say that the most likely explanation is that the clearest of the symbols are used as 'calibration' for spy satellites - a common practice for superpowers such as China
Conspiracy theorists and UFO fans have got seriously excited about a Stonehenge-like ring of objects spotted on Google Maps in China’s Gobi desert.
Conspiracy theorists love to pore over Google Maps looking for unusual objects – which are then hailed as ‘crashed spacecraft’, ‘alien bases’ and so on.
This time, UFO channel ‘Thirdphaseofmoon’ claims that the structure seen in the Gobi desert could be a ‘runway for extraterrestrials.’
Commenters on the popular UFO channel suggested that it might be China’s Area 51 (ie a place where the government supposedly investigates alien technology).
Other excited commenters suggested that it might be the landing pad for some vast spaceship.
But, like most of these sightings, the reality is almost certainly much more prosaic.
Many supposed ‘alien bases’ spotted on Google Maps turn out to be military ranges, and some commenters believe this is the case here.
One said, ‘Stop with the hype, it’s a test rang for reconnaissance aircraft, their cameras and targeting equipment. Every country that puts satellites up, has ballistic missiles or a fleet of ISR aircraft has a range like this.’
Why don’t more people appreciate science? Personally, I believe it has something to do with science communication and the way we teach science in our schools.
With this in mind, here are a couple amazing scientific facts that I hope will inspire you to learn something new every day — they’ve certainly done so for me. However, this list is much too short; keep it growing by adding your own science facts in the comments section.
1. There is enough DNA in the average person’s body to stretch from the sun to Pluto and back — 17 times
The human genome (the genetic code in each human cell) contains 23 DNA molecules (called chromosomes), each containing from 500,000 to 2.5 million nucleotide pairs. DNA molecules of this size are 1.7 to 8.5 cm long when uncoiled — about 5 cm on average. There are about 37 trillion cells in the human body, so if you were to uncoil all of the DNA encased in each cell and place the molecules end to end, it would sum to a total length of 2×1014 meters — enough for 17 Pluto round-trips (the distance from the sun to Pluto and then back again is 1.2×1013 meters). As an added bonus, you should know that we each share 99% of our DNA with every other human — just to show that we’re far more alike than different.
2. The average human body carries ten times more bacterial cells than human cells
It’s funny how we compulsively wash our hands, spray our countertops, or make a grimace when someone sneezes near us, when, in fact, each and every one of us is a walking petri dish! All the bacteria living inside you could fill a half-gallon jug — there are 10 times more bacterial cells in your body than human cells, according to Carolyn Bohach, a microbiologist at the University of Idaho. Don’t worry, though: most of these bacteria are helpful. In fact, we couldn’t survive without them.
For example, bacteria produce chemicals that help us harness energy and nutrients from our food. Germ-free rodents have to consume nearly a third more calories than normal rodents to maintain their body weight, and when the same animals were later given a dose of bacteria, their body fat levels spiked despite the fact that they didn’t eat any more than they had before. Gut bacteria is also very important for maintaining immunity. (image source).
3. It takes a photon up to 40,000 years to travel from the core of the sun to its surface, but only 8 minutes to travel the rest of the way to Earth
A photon travels, on average, a particular distance before being briefly absorbed and released by an atom, which scatters it in a new random direction. To travel from the sun’s core to the sun’s surface (696,000 kilometers) so it can escape into space, a photon needs to make a huge number of drunken jumps.
The calculation is a little tricky, but the conclusion is that a photon takes many thousands and many millions of years to drunkenly wander to the surface of the Sun. In a way, some of the light that reaches us today is energy produced millions of years ago. Amazing!
4. At over 2,000 kilometers long, The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living structure on Earth
Coral reefs consist of huge numbers of individual coral polyps (soft-bodied, invertebrate animals) that are linked together by tissue. The Great Barrier Reef is an interlinked system of about 3,000 reefs and 900 coral islands divided by narrow passages, located just beneath the surface of the Coral Sea. Spanning more than 2,000 km and covering an area of some 350,000 sq km, it is the largest living structure on Earth and the only one visible from space. However, this fragile coral colony is beginning to crumble, battered by the effects of climate change, pollution, and manmade disasters.
5. There are 8 times as many atoms in a teaspoonful of water as there are teaspoonfuls of water in the Atlantic ocean
A teaspoon of water (about 5 mL) contains 2×1023 water molecules, but each water molecule is comprised of 3 atoms: two hydrogen atoms and one of oxygen. Moreover, if you’d laid down end to end each water molecule from a teaspoon down end to end, you’d end up with a length of 50 billion km — 10 times the width of our solar system.

6. In an entire lifetime, the average person walks the equivalent of five times around the world
The average moderately active person takes around 7,500 step/day. If you maintain that daily average and live until 80 years of age, you’ll have walked about 216,262,500 steps in your lifetime. Doing the math; the average person with the average stride living until 80 will walk a distance of around 110,000 miles — which is the equivalent of walking about 5 times around the Earth, right on the equator.
7. There are actually over two dozen states of matter (that we know of)
Everybody knows that there at least three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. If you’re a little bit more versed in physics, you also know about the fourth fundamental state of matter called plasma — a hot ionized gas, with prime examples including lightning or neon signs. But beyond these common states of matter, scientists have discovered a myriad of exotic states of matter that occur under special conditions. One of them is the Bose-Einsteincondensate, where atoms chilled to only 0.000001 degrees above absolute zero start behaving like waves, rather than particles as they ought to on the macroscopic scale. Essentially, the atoms behave like one super atom, acting in unison.
Another interesting exotic state of matter is represented by time crystals — regular, boringly ordered crystals with a twist: A fourth dimension, time, is added so that the material exhibits different periodic structures over time. What makes these crystals particularly remarkable has less to do with the fact that they repeat in time but rather more with the fact that they’re intrinsically out of equilibrium. Because time crystals are never able to settle down, say into a diamond or ruby, there’s a lot we can learn from them.
8. Killer whales are actually dolphins
Despite their name, killer whales or orcas are the largest members of the dolphin family. Technically, orcas are also whales because delphinids belong to the Cetacean order within the toothed whale (Odontoceti) suborder. However, the term whale is typically reserved for baleen whales of the Mysticeti suborder.
The major physical feature that ensures orcas are dolphins is the presence of a melon — a fatty deposit that assists the animals in echolocation and only exists in dolphins.
Orcas are highly intelligent, highly adaptable and able to communicate and coordinate hunting tactics. They are extremely fast swimmers and have been recorded at speeds of up to 54kph! A wild orca pod can cover over 160 kilometers a day, foraging, and socializing.
9. Grasshoppers have ears in their bellies
Unlike humans, grasshoppers do not have ears on the side of their head. Like the ears of people, the grasshopper sound detector is a thin membrane called a tympanum, or “eardrum”. In adults, the tympanum is covered and protected by the wings, and allows the grasshopper to hear the songs of its fellow grasshoppers.
The grasshopper tympanum is adapted to vibrate in response to signals that are important to the grasshopper. Male grasshoppers use sounds to call for mates and to claim territory. Females can hear the sound that males make and judge the relative size of the male from the pitch of the call (large males make deeper sounds). Other males can hear the sounds and judge the size of a potential rival. Males use this information to avoid fights with larger male grasshoppers or to chase smaller rivals from their territory.
10. You can’t taste food without saliva
In order for food to have taste, chemicals from the food must first dissolve in saliva. It’s only once they’ve been dissolved in a liquid that the chemicals can be detected by receptors on taste buds. During this process, some salivary constituents chemically interact with taste substances. For example, salivary buffers (e.g., bicarbonate ions) decrease the concentration of free hydrogen ions (sour taste), and there are some salivary proteins which may bind with bitter taste substances.
Here’s a quick science experiment to test this out — get out a clean towel, and rub your tongue dry; then place some dry foods on your tongue, one by one, such as a cookie, pretzel, or some other dry food. After this session, drink a glass of water and repeat. Did you feel a difference?
11. When Helium is cooled to almost absolute zero (-460°F or -273°C, the lowest temperature possible), it becomes a liquid with surprising properties: it flows against gravity and will start running up and over the lip of a glass container!
We all know helium as a gas for blowing up balloons and making people talk like chipmunks, but what most people don’t know is that it comes in two distinct liquid states — one of which is borderline creepy. When helium is just a few degrees below its boiling point of –452°F (–269°C), it can suddenly do things that other fluids can’t, like dribble through molecule-thin cracks, climb up and over the sides of a dish, and remain motionless when its container is spun. No longer a mere liquid, the helium has become a superfluid — a liquid that flows without friction.
“If you set [down] a cup with a liquid circulating around and you come back 10 minutes later, of course, it’s stopped moving,” says John Beamish, an experimental physicist at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
This happens because atoms in the liquid will collide with one another and slow down.
“But if you did that with helium at low temperature and came back a million years later,” he says, “it would still be moving”.
12. If Betelgeuse exploded, transitioning from the red supergiant stage to supernova, it would light our sky continuously for two months. It could happen anytime — within a couple of thousand years, tomorrow or even now
Betelgeuse lies some 430 light-years from Earth, yet it’s already one of the brightest stars in Earth’s sky. The reason is that Betelgeuse is a supergiant star — the largest type of star in the Universe. Betelgeuse has a luminosity about 10,000 times greater than that of the Sun and its radius is calculated to be about 370 times that of the sun. If it were positioned at the center of our sun, its radius would extend out past the orbit of Mars. Because it’s near the end of its lifetime, Betelgeuse is likely to explode into a supernova.
13. Octopuses have three hearts, nine brains, and blue blood
Two of the hearts work exclusively to move blood beyond the animal’s gills, while the third keeps circulation flowing for the organs. When the octopus swims, the organ heart stops beating, which explains why these creatures prefer to crawl rather than swim (it exhausts them).
An octopus also has nine brains — well, sort of. There’s one ‘main’ brain where all the analysis and decision making takes place and eight ancillary brains — one at the base of each arm — that function as preprocessors for all the information obtained by that arm. Two-thirds of an octopus’ neurons reside in its arms, which can independently figure out how to open a shellfish, for instance, while the main brain is busy doing something else.
Our blood is red due to the fact that it contains iron-based hemoglobin to transport oxygen to cells. Octopuses, on the other hand, use the copper-based cyanoglobin, which performs the same function, albeit less efficiently — this makes octopuses have less stamina than you might expect.
14. An individual blood cell takes about 60 seconds to make a complete circuit of the body
You have about 5 liters of blood in your body (at least, most people do) and the average heart pumps about 70 mL of blood out with each beat. A healthy heart also beats around 70 times a minute. So, if you multiply the amount of blood that the heart can pump by the number of beats in a minute, you actually get about 4.9 liters of blood pumped per minute, which is almost your whole body’s worth of blood. In just a minute, the heart pumps the entire blood volume around your body.
15. The known universe is made up of 50,000,000,000 galaxies.
There are between 100,000,000,000 and 1,000,000,000,000 stars in a normal galaxy. In the Milky Way alone there might be as many 100 billion Earth-like planets. Still think we’re alone?
A group in Los Angeles has attracted U.F.O. enthusiasts from all over the world. They’ve formed together around the common question: What are these things in the sky, exactly, and how can they know more about them?

LOS ANGELES — Robert Bingham has “seen things.” When he was 39, he looked skyward and noticed a worm-shaped ship about 20 feet tall zipping through the clouds.
Unusual things kept popping up around him — or above him, rather. He saw a saucer and some flying objects shaped like beans next. He snapped a picture.
For over ten years, he kept his sightings to himself. That changed in 2010, when his neighbor came over to do some plumbing work. Mr. Binghamshowed him his photos. The neighbor asked if he could invite his brother, who was very interested in unidentified flying objects, or U.F.O.s.
In awe of what they saw, they asked if they could invite more people to speak with Mr. Bingham — 40 more, actually. More than eight years ago, that was the first meeting of what is now known as “Summon Events with Robert Bingham,” at a park in Los Angeles across the street from where Mr. Bingham worked as a security guard.
Mr. Bingham, 62, an unassuming man who describes himself as shy, has become the nexus of a community of U.F.O. hunters in Los Angeles, fervent believers who come together to share their stories and persuade skeptics that extraterrestrial communications aren’t just a conceit for television shows.

Since then, he has attracted U.F.O. enthusiasts from all over the world, drawn together by the same questions: What are these things in the sky, exactly, and how can we learn more about them?
While there is just not enough documentation or scientific evidence to begin to explain or even confirm these sightings, that doesn’t stop the dozens of people that once a year descend on the same park to watch and assist Mr. Bingham as he tries to summon the “objects,” as they call them, and also to hang out with other enthusiasts who have turned into friends.
“It’s a great community because you can talk about anything and you’re not worried about being called crazy,” said Hans Boysen, 53, who has participated in the last seven summoning sessions with Bingham since 2011.
Other groups, like the U.F.O. and Paranormal Research Society, don’t organize sighting sessions, but rather focus on discussions, often with speakers who talk about their research and experiences. A nonprofit group called the Mutual U.F.O. Network, or Mufon, founded in 1969, has over 4,000 members worldwide and convenes a yearly symposium. This year, a former Pentagon intelligence officer, Luis Elizondo, will give the keynote address.

Last year, The New York Times conducted interviews and obtained records pertaining to the $22 million spent on the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program. The program — parts of which remain classified — investigated reports of unidentified flying objects, according to Defense Department officials. According to the article, officials insisted that the effort had ended after five years, in 2012. The article also stated that Sara Seager, an astrophysicist at M.I.T., cautioned that not knowing the origin of an object does not mean that it is from another planet or galaxy. “When people claim to observe truly unusual phenomena, sometimes it’s worth investigating seriously,” she said. But, she added, “what people sometimes don’t get about science is that we often have phenomena that remain unexplained.”
As much as scientists deal with probabilities, they rely on data and the reality is, no matter how many videos people upload on YouTube, they’re simply not enough to draw any definitive conclusions from.
But that doesn’t stop this community from searching. Many in the community that forms around Mr. Bingham believe that the multimillion-dollar alien research efforts of the former Blink-182 guitarist and singer Tom DeLonge are just the beginning to finding out some answers. Mr. DeLonge made headlines after To the Stars Academy of Arts & Science, a research group he founded — Mr. Elizondo is its director of global security and special programs — released declassified footage from the Department of Defense and continues his efforts.
Angel Llewellyn, 49, drove to the event from San Jose, Calif., for a second year as a form of pilgrimage. She said she started seeing things right after attending to Mr. Bingham’s event for the first time.
“It’s like he charges you,” she said. “He teaches you how to call them and what to think and they just, boom, boom, boom. It’s like fishing. You never know what you’re going to get.”

That’s not to say that everyone in the group is on the same page. There’s a variety of ideologies — some beliefs are grounded in religion, while some prefer a more scientific foundation — and different levels of intensity. Rafael Cebrian, 29, a two-time attendee, brought a curious friend who was visiting from Spain. He said it was about being open and being in the right state of mind. He went to Mr. Bingham’s event last year on a friend’s recommendation. He said he didn’t think he was a skeptic anymore, but he also insisted he didn’t know anything for sure.
Mr. Bingham may have brought them all together, but now factions abound.
One such group is the L.A. U.F.O. Channel, a monthly Meetup group founded by Mr. Perez and Hans Boysen, 53.
“I know they’re never going to believe a video that they think was created in somebody’s basement,” Mr. Perez said. “I see the events as a bigger way to change people’s minds.”
Mr. Boysen was once a skeptic himself and tried to contact Mr. Bingham in 2011. “Like most people, I suspect, I thought he was a nut case or lunatic,” he said. But as a skeptic, he was “willing to keep an open mind and look at what he had to offer.” He instead found Mr. Perez, who helped him discover his passion for the unknown flying objects in the sky, something he has always been interested in since he was a child.

Yasmin Joyner, 35, an artist, says she has a more straightforward approach to sightings and doesn’t like to engage in conspiracy theories. “Unidentified flying objects: That’s what a U.F.O. is, right?” she said. “I’m not saying it’s an alien. I’m not saying it’s from another planet. I’m not saying it’s even a being. I don’t know!”
“I try to go with what I can say I know,” she continued. “I’m not going to look at something and try to equate that it might be an animal or something biological. I don’t know that and I will never claim to know that.” She recently formed another group, Indigo Army, that she hopes will attract a younger and more diverse crowd. Because it’s still a small group, its members have been able to organize sightings at one another’s houses and nearby parks.
For Ms. Joyner, going public with her belief of U.F.O.s and extraterrestrial communications wasn’t a decision she took lightly. She understands that there are consequences to being outspoken about beliefs that many people may deem weird or crazy.
“I think my family was a bit worried that I had snapped or something, but once they saw my footage and what I was seeing, they understood,” she said. Her mother is fully supportive and claims to have seen unknown objects flying in the sky near her home in Los Angeles multiple times.

Mallory Jackson, 26, who attends Meetup hangouts led by Mr. Bingham and the Indigo Army, says she finds it difficult to maintain relationships outside the U.F.O. community with people who might not be as understanding of her interests. She discovered Mr. Bingham’s event through a friend she met at a metaphysical center that does reiki healing, with whom she later confided in about her sightings. She said she became friends with several members “right away” before later meeting Jim Martin, 38, another longtime attendee of Mr. Bingham’s events. Mr. Martin is now her boyfriend.
“When we do our events, you’ll see all ages, all ethnicities, all genders,” Ms. Jackson said. “It’s beautiful, and we’re all just trying to figure it out as we go. We don’t know what they are, but we make all make our assumptions and best guesses.”
Around noon on a punishingly hot day in April, Mr. Bingham gathered everyone around him for the first so-called group summoning of the day. “Let’s make this world a better place,” he said. “Enjoy this day because it’s going to be incredible.” As he concluded his opening remarks, he turned around and led the group to hope for something good to show up.

So, how exactly does the group try to summon U. F. O.s? Everyone has a different method, but most agree that it’s similar to meditating. Some say that they feel physical sensations when they do it. The most important thing, Ms. Joyner said, is to focus. At the event in April, some participants closed their eyes and stood silently. Some stared intently into the sky. A few newcomers simply looked around, appearing confused.
As soon as someone in the group spots something, they yell at Mr. Boysen, who has a telescope connected to a camera and a screen that shows what he’s seeing. Once he spots it, he holds out his arm to ask for someone to guide him back to his chair without losing sight of the object. He adjusts his telescope in search of it, while the guide looks at the screen to tell him if he’s got it or not. Everything is recorded as video footage that he will later stabilize using Adobe After Effects, a video-editing software. “Nothing more,” Charles Cassey, 50, Mr. Boysen’s frequent guide, insists. “All he does is stabilize the footage so it’s not so shaky.” Mr. Cassey puts his hand on the focus knob and adjusts it as soon as Mr. Boysen centers on the object.

Effectively capturing objects in the sky from dozens of miles away requires a significant financial investment. Ms. Joyner uses a camera with a lens that can magnify objects up to 40 times, which could capture things in the sky as if they were only 20 feet away, but in broad daylight, it can still get a little tricky. Mr. Martin works his way around such issues by combining a super-zoom lens with infrared, which helps him spot things in the sky easier. He is frequently praised by people in the community for his consistently high-quality footage, and his YouTube page is full of well-edited clips from various sightings, as well as other U.F.O.-related videos.
The group’s members encounter their fair share of people who don’t believe them online. It’s not unusual to see U.F.O. believers try to debunk each other’s videos by dissecting them frame by frame. “Some people’s opinions are so hardened that I just let them think what they want and focus on research that I think is valid,” Mr. Martin said. “Through the videos that I post, I try and set an example of what I think is good evidence to kind of rise against some of the misidentification.” This forms a core part of the new mission of the Indigo Army: to look harder at the evidence and be more selective about what the group claims to be a U.F.O.

Ms. Joyner agrees, and thinks they can only get better by scrutinizing everything closely, including their own work. “There are videos that I have that I questioned a year later and I don’t have any issues doing that,” she said. “If we have a problem with being wrong, there’s never going to be any truth.”
“Oh, that video? Might’ve been just birds. And I’m O.K. with that. But this video? This video isn’t birds.”

Wednesday, June 6, 2018, 12:14 PM - Are humans the only civilization that face climate change? A look at aliens and climate change, the 'carbon bubble' that could collapse the global economy, India's plastics ban, and the surprisingly environmentally-friendly behaviours of climate change skeptics. Its What's Up in Climate Change.
Can aliens survive climate change?
Is sustainability ever a possibility for civilizations that use natural resources? Some scientists question if our current climate change predicament is unique to human beings or simply inevitable for any type of life form that intensively harvests natural resources using technology, such as farming practices, to develop civilizations.
Scientists wonder if life forms other than humans can harvest energy without causing climate change that destroy the civilization.
Previous astrobiological studies have indicated the possibility that other planets in the universe can support energy-harvesting species, such as Kepler-62f and Kepler-62e, however there is currently no available data indicating the existence of such exo-civilizations, or more commonly ‘aliens’.
To further understand the human-induced climate change on Earth, a recent study from the University of Rochester investigated if aliens are capable of living sustainably without compromising the health of their environment, or if population growth and the use of natural resources will result in catastrophic climate change that would wipe out the entire civilization.
The evolution of a civilization’s population growth and use of natural resources was modelled with feedback relationships and demonstrated four potential outcomes:
1) Sustainability - a stable balance between population growth and environmental health - population gradually rises and the use of natural resources minimally fluctuates and reaches a consistent level that can support a large population. 2) Oscillation - population and natural resource use fluctuates to highs and lows while maintaining a stable relationship. 3) Die-off - population grows so dramatically that it exceeds the environment’s capacity to provide natural resources and space, and there is significant fluctuation in population and natural resources. The population peaks and then declines as the environment reaches a new stable state. 4) Collapse - population skyrockets and there is no stable relationship between population growth and natural resource use. Population rapidly declines as natural resource use peaks, and collapse occurs even after attempts to reduce population growth and usage of natural resources.
While there is a possibility for alien civilizations to live sustainability, this study forces us to ask ourselves - what will the outcome for humans be?
The 'carbon bubble' could collapse the global economy
The good news is that one day low-carbon technologies will power the world, the bad news is that it will crash the global economy in the process, according to a new study.
Global economic growth has created such a high demand in fossil fuels that companies’ assets in fossil fuels are overvalued and have created a ‘carbon bubble’ - a sudden drop in fossil fuel demand could leave companies with trillions of dollars in stranded assets and unable to make profit from these investments, which could collapse the global economy and trigger a financial crisis similar to the Great Recession of 2008.
Researchers predict that the world will slowly transition to low-carbon energies, a transition that puts the fossil fuel industry at risk.
The bubble is expected to burst by 2035 according researchers from the University of Cambridge who predict the world will transition to low-carbon economies as renewable energies become cheaper and more efficient. The study shows that this transition will occur even if there are no additional international climate change policies or additional efforts to follow the Paris Agreement’s goal of keeping warming below 2 degrees Celsius.
There are clear winners and losers in this transition - oil producing countries like Russia, Canada (the new owner of an oil pipeline that will cost at least $4.5 billion CND), and the United States could lose their entire oil and gas industries, countries with limited exposure to fossil fuel exposure will benefit, including Germany, and the European Union. The study explains that resisting a renewable energy transition and continuing to invest in a fossil fuel economy will cause even more economic loss as the value of fossil fuels will drop so low production will not be affordable as assets become stranded.
A renewable energy transition would result in a global wealth loss of $1-4 trillion USD and the consequences of an economic collapse can be managed by nations divesting from fossil fuels as an ‘insurance policy’ against the decisions of the rest of the world.
India will ban all single-use plastics by 2022
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced that India will ban all plastic in the country by 2022 and the state of Tamil Nadu will ban plastic by 2019 - with exclusions for plastic packages for essential items like medicines and oil. The environmental impact of banning single-use plastic is expected to be huge - by 2050 India is projected to have the largest population of 1.6 billion people who won’t be using disposable plastics.

The national plastic ban announcement came on June 5 as India was hosting the United Nations World Environment Day with ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ as this year’s main theme. India has struggled with a number of environmental issues - air pollution is extreme that breathing in New Delhi is like smoking 50 cigarettes a day and extensive garbage pollution in cities.
Plastic pollution, particularly in oceans, is a trending topic in conversations about environmental protection and climate change. Bangladesh banned plastic bags after a flood was caused by littered plastic bags that clogged the capital city’s drainage system during a moderate rainfall and Prime Minister Theresa May has ambitiously committed to eliminating all avoidable plastic waste in the United Kingdom by 2042.
Do climate skeptics act the most environmentally-friendly?
Individuals that believe in climate change might not be the ones that act the most sustainably, according to a new year-long study that measured Americans climate change beliefs and their engagement in pro-environmental behaviours, such as recycling.
Pro-environmental actions, such as recycling, can be a result of societal norms, individual values, and government programs.
These researchers wanted to know how belief in climate change affects pro-environmental behaviours and found that climate change skeptics were more likely to report their participation in pro-environmental behaviours, and those with high belief in climate change were more concerned with federal climate change policies.
Previous research provides different insights as to why some people do not engage in pro-environmental behaviours - some outright deny that climate change is occurring whereas others that do believe in climate change are reluctant to take action because of perceptions that it is not an urgent threat.
The researchers were unable to conclude why the skeptics reported more pro-environmental behaviours as they did not report greater identify fit with environmentalism or endorse individual action to reduce climate change. Possible explanations for the surprising outcome is that pro-environmental behaviours could be conducted to address issues like waste instead of the broad topic of climate change or pro-environmental behaviours might be considered a ‘moral issue’ instead of a climate change issue.
There is a hole in the Sphinx's head and it is now covered up
Did you know there is something like a submarine hatch at the top of the Sphinx?
Overhead filming is forbidden on the Giza Plateau but there are a few channels on YouTube with drone footage. Here is one showing the hatch in high resolution:
But it's more than that. Zahi Hawass has been in the chambers in and under the Sphinx, released a video on it, found a Sarcophagus, and then never spoke about it again.
The chambers and tunnels under the Sphinx point to a very real 'Hall of Records'.
Many of these tunnels were originally shown and then never brought up again by Zahi Hawass, the 'gatekeeper' of mainstream Egyptology.
The researcher Robert Schoch has seismic data indicating there is a chamber underneath the paws of the Sphinx.
There is a tunnel leading from the Sphinx to the Great Pyramid. There is a man-made space that Edgar Cayce predicted under the Sphinx's right paw. Caycee said in that space, the civilization before Egyptians left records about humanities past for future generations, these people would have migrated from Atlantis.
The weathering on the side of the sphinx is from water erosion. That would date it is from 12,000 years ago.
It makes you wonder sometimes why they are so adamant for telling that the Sphinx is exactly 4,500 years old when they have nothing to back it up.
the fact remains that there are underground chambers beneath the Sphinx. They may lead in all sorts of direction but it's obvious that the original Pyramid builders would want some entryway into the Pyramid and supposedly they hid a passage underneath the older structure of the Sphinx.
They're hiding our true history from us. Initially, it didn't seem to make much sense as to why they would do this but after some careful thought, it has to do with controlling humanities foundational mythos in such a way that the government is perceived as being the foundation of society, in both the historical and creationary sense.
This naturally programs a certain level of allegiance into people that wouldn't be there if we were taught the true extent of our history.
Lockheed Martin F-35A filmed "In Beast Mode" over California
A video of a test flight of a Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II stealth multi-purpose combat aircraft of the Royal Dutch Air Force has appeared on YouTube.
The jet flew over the Sierra Nevada mountains in the USA in "Beast Mode"
The machine recorded in the video was equipped with four laser-guided GBU-12 bombs and two heat-seeking short-range air-to-air guided weapons AIM-9 Sidewinder.
According to the portal "The Aviationist", the fighter is currently at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
The first F-35A Lightning II will be delivered from the USA to the Netherlands in November 2019. The Royal Air Forces are to receive a total of 27 aircraft. Beast Mode equipment includes weapons on the outside of the jet, as opposed to Stealth Mode, where the weaponry is placed inside the fighter jet only.
Your regular commercial airliner, like a Boeing 747 is fast. A super-spy jet like the SR-71 Blackbird is much faster than that, traveling at over three times the speed of sound. So how does a deep-space probe like New Horizons, which recently flew past Pluto, compare? Thanks to this animation, you can see it’s very, very fast indeed.

Flying at 37k feet, this is what it would be like to look out the window of a 747 vs. an SR-71 vs. a New Horizons.
The animation was created byClay Bavor, who works at Google in his day job. As he notes in his caption on it:
To put 36,000 mph in perspective, at that speed, you’d be able to fly from San Francisco to New York in about five minutes. Of course, you’d also be turned into a ball of searing hot plasma.
I guess we should be happy, then, that New Horizons wasn’t going at crazy speeds through our own atmosphere.
In case you can’t read the words on the video above because you’re illiterate (in which case HOW ARE YOU READING THESE WORDS), a 747 typically cruises somewhere around 550 miles per hour, the SR-71 was claimed to have hit 2,700 MPH, but New Horizons is zooming through space at a staggering 36,000 MPH.
In fact, part of the reason why New Horizons didn’t stop and orbit Pluto is because it’s just so damn fast. Part of the reason for that is because NASA wanted it to get to Pluto in a reasonable amount of time, but I suspect that most of the reason for that is because we’ve all grown up wanting to know how fast we could shoot something into the sky. And when you’re NASA, your idea of shooting something into the sky includes a gravity assist from Jupiter.

Mijn lichaam was volledig verlamd.
Mensen vinden me raar.

Mannen in zwarte pakken
Radioactive isotopes found in Australian sheep have added credence to the theory that Israel conducted an illegal nuclear test over the Indian Ocean 39 years ago.
The findings, published in a new study for Science and Global Security, shed intriguing new light on the mysterious Vela Incident, as it is known, of September 22, 1979.
At 12.53am GMT on the date, the US satellite Vela 6911 detected the 'double flash' characteristic of a nuclear explosion in the southern Indian Ocean, near the Prince Edward Islands about halfway between Africa and Antarctica.
Advisors to then-President Jimmy Carter rushed to brief him on the incident, and security officials immediately speculated that the event was an Israeli nuclear test conducted in cooperation with apartheid South Africa, Carter wrote in his memoirs.
This map published with the new study extrapolates the likely nuclear plume from a detonation near the Prince Edward Island. The areas in purple show rainfall that could have carried fallout
However, an official US government panel convened to study the matter delivered an equivocal finding that downplayed the likelihood of a nuclear explosion.
Israel, whose presumed nuclear arsenal is considered an open secret by many, has steadfastly refuse to confirm or deny whether it has a nuclear program.
Now, the new study by Christopher Wright of the Australian Defence Force Academy and retired Swedish Defence Research Agency nuclear physicist Lars-Erik De Geer, offers new clues.
The researchers reveal the discovery of iodine-131 in the thyroids of some Australian sheep in October and November of 1979. The thyroids were sent to the US for analysis at the time, but the results were never made public.
The researchers write that the isotope levels 'would be consistent with them having grazed in the path of a potential radioactive fallout plume from a 22 September low-yield nuclear test in the Southern Indian Ocean.'
The study reveals that the isotope iodine-131 in the thyroids of some Australian sheep in October and November of 1979. Pictured: Sheep in New South Wales earlier this month
The findings include analysis of weather patterns that suggest the fallout plume from a nuclear explosion would have looped over parts of Australia.
As well, the study analyzes declassified descriptions of an underwater sound wave detected by US listening posts that correlated with the double flash near the Prince Edward Islands, which are uninhabited except for a South African government research station.
The new study 'removes virtually all doubt that the 'flash' was a nuclear explosion,' Leonard Weiss wrote for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
'This strengthens previous analyses concluding that Israel likely carried out a nuclear test in violation of US law and the Limited Test Ban Treaty,' the nuclear nonproliferation expert wrote.
'Israel was the only country that had the technical ability and policy motivation to carry out such a clandestine test, which, according to some sources, was the last of several and was detected by the Vela satellite because of a sudden change in cloud cover,' Weiss wrote.
Israel for its part maintains a strategic silence on the question of a nuclear weapons arsenal.
Asked if Israel was responsible for the Vela Incident, Israel's Ambassador to New Zealand, Itzhak Gerberg, told the New Zealand Herald: 'Simply a ridiculous assumption that does not hold water.'
The Limited Test Ban Treaty went into force in 1963 and bans nuclear explosions in the atmosphere, in outer space, and under water, rendering legal only those nuclear tests performed underground.
Israel signed the treaty in 1963 and ratified it in 1964.
With as many nuclear weapons as there are out there in the world, it’s amazing there haven’t been more mishaps, accidents, or rogue detonations. While there have been a few close calls like the 1961 Goldsboro B-52 crash in my home state of North Carolina, so far we’ve been lucky not to have any major incidents. That we know of, that is.
Although it’s kind of hard to hide a mushroom cloud. Unless it’s underground or underwater…
While a nuclear weapon detonation would be pretty difficult to conceal, unexplained clouds of radiation circling the globe over the last year or two might suggest that someone is testing weapons on the sly. While in this most recent case there’s little to go on other than anomalous radiation detection, a still unexplained incident from 1979 came complete with an unidentified double flash of bright light. The American-operated Vela Hotel satellite detected two anomalous bright flashes of light near the Prince Edward Islands off the coast of Antarctica. It was determined at the time that the flashes likely came from a secret nuclear detonation – yet the perpetrator remained unknown.
Now, new research conducted by scientists at the Otago University at Wellington add to the suspicion that the Vela incident was indeed a nuclear detonation. The researchers examined previously unpublished studies of sheep thyroid glands conducted by U.S. military researchers in Australia following the incident and discovered abnormally high levels of iodine-131, a byproduct of nuclear weapons. According to their publication, these findings support the theory that the Vela anomaly was indeed the result of a clandestine nuclear test:
Iodine-131 found in the thyroids of some Australian sheep would be consistent with them having grazed in the path of a potential radioactive fallout plume from a 22 September low-yield nuclear test in the Southern Indian Ocean. Further, several declassified letters and reports which describe aspects of still classified hydroacoustic reports and data favor the test scenario.
Based on intelligence gathered by American spy agencies, it was assumed in the wake of the incident that Israel and South Africa likely conducted a joint nuclear test. That intelligence was then likely buried in order to preserve the United States’ strategic alliance with Israel. Even so, Otago University’s Nick Wilson told the New Zealand Herald that this study of sheep thyroids “adds to the evidence base that this was an illegal nuclear weapons test, very likely to have been conducted by Israel with assistance from the apartheid regime in South Africa,” a test which would have been in violation with the Limited Test Ban Treaty.
Who knew sheep thyroids could help solve one of the world’s nuclear mystery?
This incident really has to make you wonder: how many nuclear detonations or tests have gone undetected or have been assumed to be something else entirely? Even if the answer is “one,” it’s a pretty chilling thought.
In a recent article at his UFO Conjectures blog, Rich Reynolds addressed the matter of UFOs and LSD. The article is titled “LSD, Hallucinations, and UFOs.” You can find it here. Rich says: “Most of you know about the notorious CIA program, MK-Ultra, that, in 1959, experimented with LSD on military personnel and volunteers.” He adds: “I’ve always thought (and written) that the Pascagoula encounter (Hickson/Parker) and Travis Walton’s ‘abduction’ may have been drug induced.”
Having known Rich for far more than a few years, I should note that he has a deep interest in the possibility that at least some significant UFO incidents may have had a hallucinogen of some kind at their core. We’re not, however, talking here about using LSD for recreational purposes. Instead, we’re talking about situations which may have been utilized – by military and intelligence services – to, in essence, fake a UFO event. The reason? Maybe to try and gauge the extent to which the human mind can be manipulated? To fake alien encounters as a means to make us believe we have extraterrestrials among us when, perhaps, we don’t? To determine how easy it might be to create a bogus extraterrestrial event? The controversial questions are many. The answers are far less so. What we can say, though, is that there are a surprising number of cases on record that just might fall into one or more of the above categories. I’ll share with you three of many.
We’ll start with a man named Orfeo Angelucci. He was one of that controversial band of people who claimed – largely in the 1950s – encounters with very human-like ETs. They were known as the Space Brothers. As for the eyewitnesses like Angelucci, they were titled the Contactees. Angelucci’s aliens were here to save us from self-destruction – as were most of the Space Brothers of that era. It was when Angelucci started talking about the Space-Brothers (and Sisters too) being Communists, and also claiming meetings with mysterious human characters wh0 wanted Angelucci to insert the Communist angle into his lectures, that things got very strange. It was then that Angelucci got a weird visitor. And a weird experience, too.
Angelucci claimed that on one particular evening in December 1954, he traveled out to a diner in Twentynine Palms, California. The reason was to meet with an odd, enigmatic character called Adam, who wanted to discuss his, Angelucci’s, experiences. Although Adam appeared human, Angelucci wasn’t at all sure that was the case. Things got weird when, as they sat and chatted, Adam asked Angelucci to take a pill, which he passed to him. Incredibly, Angelucci did exactly that: he put it in his mouth and knocked it back with a mysterious drink provided by Adam.
It wasan’t long before Angelucci felt decidedly spaced-out. He began to hallucinate: nothing less than a little woman (and I do mean little, as in just inches tall) danced in his drink. Reality had gone right out of the window. And, on top of that, Angelucci was aware of two men in military uniforms sitting close by. They were intently watching every move that Angelucci made, and they seemed to note his every word spoken to Adam. Something caused Angelucci to spill the beans on his connections to the Space Brothers, the matter of communism, and more. Maybe someone in government wanted to find out what Angelucci really knew about communist aliens. Or, maybe, it was a case of concerns that Angelucci was being used – wittingly or not – to promote communism via the UFO subject. Whatever the answer, it seems very likely that Angelucci had been drugged by something that caused him to tell all that he knew and, in the process, fall into a deeply drugged state.
Then, there is the matter of Antonio Villas Boas. He was a Brazilian man who claimed, in late 1957, to have had wild sex with an equally wild babe from the stars, after having been kidnapped onto a UFO. An early alien abduction? Yep. Or maybe not. In the late-1970s, the aforementioned Rich Reynolds had contact with a very controversial – and by all accounts unlikable – figure named Bosco Nedelcovic, who had links to the world of intelligence, and who claimed that the Villas Boas affair was not what it appeared to be. He told Rich that, in reality, Villas Boas was the unwitting player in a new and novel experiment. According to Nedelcovic, the UFO that Villas Boas saw over his family’s property was really a helicopter. Not only that, Villas Boas was supposedly hit by some kind of mind-altering aerosol spray that quickly placed him into an altered state, after the pilot of the helicopter flew right over him. As for the girl from the stars, she was said to have really been a hooker, a girl hired to take Villas Boas on the closest encounter of all. But, it was all a ruse: a mind-bending event designed to fabricate a UFO incident.
Like it or not, but the fact is that Villas Boas’ own words suggest strongly that he was indeed taken on-board a helicopter. Read Villas Boas’ words carefully. The craft, he said, was “like an elongated egg.” On the top of the craft there was, “something which was revolving at great speed and also giving off a powerful fluorescent reddish light” (rotor-blades? Probably, yes). As the craft took to the skies, it made a loud noise, “a sort of beat” (which is a perfect description of the noise associated with a helicopter). Put all those factors together and it sounds very much like a helicopter. Moving on…
In his article, Rich mentioned the famous October 1973 alien abduction of Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker at Pascagoula, Mississippi. The case has become a classic in alien abduction circles. It’s a little-known fact, though, that just a few miles from where Parker and Hickson were taken is a stretch of land called Horn Island. In the latter stages of the Second World War, the military used Horn Island as a place where biological-warfare research was undertaken. Matters were brought to an end when the Second World War was over. The official line is that research in the area was cancelled. There are, however, local tales of covert operations and experiments into mind-manipulation as late as the early 1970s, and only around ten-to-twenty miles away, within newer facilities. In terms of what may have specifically been used in these operations, fingers point in the direction of BZ. Or, to give it its correct name: 3-quinuclidinyl benzilate. It’s most well-known name is “Buzz.” It can provoke significant hallucinations.
Is it possible that some classic UFO events were actually nothing of the sort, but that were – in a very strange way – even weirder…?
Astronomers Delivering the Lunar Truth - UFO’s and Alien Structures
Home-based astronomers coming through where others are failing us, thanks to these people who are revealing the truth about what actually is going on the Moon.
This is an interesting compilation of Moon anomalies, cities, flying objects over the Moon, structures, machinery and more.
Guys, I found three UFOs in one NASA Apollo 10 photo today. Two of the UFOs are oval mushroom-like and one is very long and wide. All the UFOs are kicking up a big dust storm on the surface of the moon, because they are flying so low to the surface. I actually believe the that they may have scraped the surface to deliberately cause a dust storm as a warning to the Apollo 10 astronauts on board the module. The aliens may have felt threatened by the presence of the humans and probably wanted to send a message to stay away, the moon belongs to someone else. If you look carefully at the photos, you will see that the two round UFOs do have trails behind them caused by the dust and their propulsion system. Also the long UFO is so close to the surface of the moon that its shadow and dust are visible below it. The long UFO is so close to the surface that the distance from the ground to the UFO is actually the width of UFO itself. This all took place near MARE FECUNDITATI crater.
The Pentagon secretly studied ‘exotic and sophisticated’ UFO technologies, bombshell letter reveals
Jasper Hamill
The Pentagon’s secret UFO research programme carried out investigations into a range of ‘exotic’ futuristic technologies, a letter between a US Senator and the Deputy Secretary of Defence has revealed.
Documents relating to a highly sensitive investigation government project called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) confirm that the US has studied a range of futuristic technologies which would allow it to exercise global military dominance for decades to come.
This programme is dedicated to exploring ‘ unexplained aerial phenomena’ and is believed to have written a 490-page report which collects together UFO sightings from around the world.
The world first heard about AATIP last year, when footage of an encounter between an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet and an oval-shaped UFO travelling at astonishing speed was released.
A photograph of a fast-moving UFO spotted over the Atlantic by two US Navy pilots
Now a letter sent from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to William Lynn III, Deputy Secretary of Defense, has revealed tantalising new details of the US government’s exploration of ‘disruptive aerospace technologies’.
Although the correspondence does not mention aliens or UFOs, it appears to confirm the US Senate ordered an assessment of ‘far term foreign aerospace threats’. It is not known whether these threats were alien in origin – or came from some rival military power.
It said these include ‘extremely sophisticated concepts within the world of quantum mechanics, nuclear science, electromagnetic theory, gravitics [anti-gravity], and thermodynamics’. technologies ‘have the potential to be used with catastrophic effects by adversaries’ Senator Reid warned in his letter, which was obtained by Las Vegas Now.
The letter also said ‘much progress has been made with the identification of several highly sensitive, unconventional aerospace-related findings’.
‘Ultimately, the results of AATIP will not only benefit the US Government but I believe will directly benefit the Department of Defense in ways not imagined,’ he wrote.
‘The technological insight and capability gained will provide the US with a distinct advantage over any foreign threats and allow the US to maintain its preeminence as a world leader.’
Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator for the British Ministry of Defence, said the ‘bombshell’ document ‘reveals much more about the AATIP project than was previously known’.
‘These staggering revelations show just how seriously the US government took the issue. Irrespective of what they believed about the true nature of the UFO phenomenon, this letter gives a telling insight into the reasons why the Pentagon was interested, and what they thought the threats and opportunities might be,’ he told The Metro
However, what the document does not give us is the answer to the question of whether humanity is alone in the universe.
In fact, there is no mention of aliens in the letter and it only really discusses the military implications of futurist technology.
Pope previously told Metro AATIP looked at UFO sightings as part of a wider intelligence assessment of the threat from next-generation aircraft, missiles and drones,
‘The UK government took a similar view, and some of us involved in looking at this subject in the MoD referred to the ‘novel military applications’ that we felt might be derived from a fuller understanding of the phenomenon,’ Pope added.
The truth about the US Government’s UFO programme is probably not as out there as some alien hunters would hope
‘Weaponisation was one of the things in our minds, and we shared US concerns that certain foreign nations (particularly Russia and China) were looking at this too, and might beat us to the punch.
‘In the MoD, we dropped the term ‘UFO’ and replaced it with ‘UAP’ (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), both to reframe the debate and to obscure our true goals.
‘Harry Reid’s letter goes one better. The project was described in terms designed to give anyone not cleared for access the impression that this was some sort of study into next-generation aircraft, missiles and drones.
‘Whatever the truth of the matter, it’s time to drop our prejudices about the subject and to stop referring to “flying saucers” and “little green men”.
‘It’s time to realise that whatever we’re dealing with, there are serious defence and national security issues involved and that the US, the UK, Russia, China – and maybe others – are engaged in potentially game-changing work on this subject.’
Luis Elizondo, former head of the AATIP

Last year, the AATIP program manager, Luis Elizondo, said he believed there is ‘very compelling evidence we may not be alone’.
He also recently suggested mysterious ‘metamaterials’ which may have come from crashed alien spacecraft are being stored by the American government in specially modified warehouses in Las Vegas.
Testgebied
Anderen waren minder enthousiast. “Het is gewoon een testgebied voor verkenningsvliegtuigen,” schreef joshreynolds723. “Elk land dat over satellieten, ballistische raketten of ISR-vliegtuigen beschikt, heeft zo’n testgebied.”

On July 16, 2016, British ufologist and conspiracy theorist Max Spiers died in Poland days before he was to speak at a conspiracy theory conference and just after allegedly vomiting two liters of a mysterious black liquid. Before he left England, Spiers sent his mother a text message: “Your boy’s in trouble. If anything happens to me, investigate.” That investigation is ongoing and Spiers’ death has still not been solved. Now, a new twist emerges. During a pre-inquest review last week, lawyers for Spiers’ mother revealed that her son’s laptop computer had data on it at the time of his death but had been wiped clean when it was returned to her. Apparently, the SIM card from his phone was also either erased or removed. Who is behind this and will it be resolved before the inquest in Poland in January 2019?
The pre-inquest review was held at Guildhall in Sandwich, Kent, on August 10, 2018. The attorney for Spiers’ mother, Vanessa Bates, requested that the members of the Polish emergency services to appear as witnesses at the inquest, most likely to explain how such a strange death could have been ruled to be due to “natural causes.” He also wants to know if disciplinary actions were taken against any of the police officers involved with the case. However, no request caused as much mayhem as the questions about the missing computer data and phone SIM card.
“The way in which they were returned and what was done to them is clearly one of the big mysteries. The family has no knowledge whatsoever of what the results of that analysis were. The issue is the Sim card and what was on it. Without sight of the report, the family has no answer to these questions.”
Neither does anyone else. The attorney asked that Spiers’ girlfriend at the time of his death, Monika Duval, be in attendance at the inquest. Spiers was found dead on Duval’s couch and she was considered to be a suspect by those who thought he was murdered, as was Spiers’ fiancé back in England.
“He was very fit and healthy when I said goodbye to him. Everything that we have in terms of health records before he went were that he was in great health. This was an enormous blow. I miss him dreadfully.”
Vanessa Bates and others were shocked by Spiers’ sudden death and the inquest is supposed to focus on how and why the investigation into Spiers’ death and his autopsy were so mishandled by Polish officials. With the questions about the computer data and the phone SIM card, there will obviously be questions about the conspiracy theories that Spiers was probing into the practice of “black magic” by well-known figures in politics, business and entertainment, or that this lifelong ufologist was actually a “supersoldier selected at birth by aliens.”
Coroner Christopher Sutton Mattocks said the four-day inquest will be heard starting on January 7, 2019, at the Archbishops Palace in Maidstone. He said:
“It is extremely important that when we start everybody is completely ready for this and we have all the information available.”
Will they be completely ready? Will the missing data be found or explained? Will they clear up the mysterious death of ufologist Max Spiers? Or will the mystery deepen?
