SEVERAL ships that disappeared in the middle of the Pacific Ocean entered a “black hole” a university professor has claimed during a documentary.

According to Alien hunters, a Massive metallic Unidentified Flying Objects ahs been seen orbiting an asteroid near Earth. The bizarre claim comes after NASA footage released on the internet, displays an ‘anomalous object’ seen descending towards the Asteroid. While NASA claims it is just another near-Earth asteroid with a small moon accompanying it, UFO hunters argue that it is actually a massive UFO with clearly visible metallic cylinders.

The GIF image released by the Space agency on January 26 in 2015, displays an anomalous rotating object at the center of the black and with images, with a UFO descending toward it. Now, after the asteroid hurtled passed Earth, alien hunters claim that the asteroid was in fact accompanied by a long metallic ufo, with two small cylinders at the sides.

Scot Waring from USO Sightings Daily suggests that the asteroid is in fact accompanied by an alleged UFO which he says, orbits asteroid 2004 BL86.

The asteroid of over 1000 feet in width, passed by Earth at a distance of 745,000 miles. Even though NASA claims no UFO’s are visible in the image, Waring and others suggest that the object saw ‘shadowing’ asteroid 2004 BL86 is, in fact, a metallic UFO with a diameter of over 200 feet.

On UFO sightings Daily, Warring claims:

‘Below, you see the close-up view of the UFO that is orbiting asteroid 2004 BL86 right now. The UFO is 70 meters long,’ writes Waring.

‘They call the UFO a small moon, but it’s [sic] not. As you see from the focused photos below, the [sic] UFO has a long metallic cylinder hull and two smaller cylinder sections on opposite sides.

‘The UFO is spinning, which gives us a great view of it from different angles as you see below. It came 750,000 miles from Earth.’

After comparing the images, could, altered an original, Waring believes that a multi-cylinder UFO is clearly visible.

Skeptics and NASA reports suggest that we aren’t seeing anything anomalous here. In fact, according to the Space Agencies, such pairings aren’t at all that uncommon, and there are numerous other examples in our solar system.

‘[The images] show the primary body is approximately 1,100 feet (325 meters) across and has a small moon approximately 230 feet (70 meters) across,’ Nasa writes.

‘In the near-Earth population, about 16 percent of asteroids that are about 655 feet (200 meters) or larger are a binary (the primary asteroid with a smaller asteroid moon orbiting it) or even triple systems (two moons).

‘The resolution of the radar images is 13 feet (4 meters) per pixel.

On January 7, 2019 a near-Earth asteroid 2016 AZ8 flew past the Earth-Moon system only 2.8 million miles away.

Astronomers at the giant Arecibo radar in Puerto Rico pinged the space rock as it approached. Using a pulsed beam of radio energy at 2380 MHz, they found that 2016 AZ8 has a moon.

The radar team says the primary is nearly spherical with a diameter of 430 meters, while the asteroid's moon is more elongated, like a cigar, measuring 180 meters on its long axis.

One day later on January 8, 2019 asteroid 2019 AS5 flew past Earth only 8600 km above our planet's surface.

Despite that this asteroid was closer to our planet than many satellites it was discovered nine hours after the flyby by the Mt. Lemmon Survey telescope in Arizona.

According to SpaceWeather; if the 1 to 2 meter-wide space rock had hit Earth (and it almost did) it would have caused a brilliant fireball in the atmosphere with sonic booms and scattered meteorites on the ground--but no serious damage.

Here is a UFO caught a few days ago over Lake Winnipeg. The UFO is moving much too slowly to be a meteor from space and even too slow to be a jet. Oddly is seems to also have a fat head and yellow and orange back before the tail turns into a contrail. Of course someone tried to play it off as an illusion or trick of the sky. Its there, no tricks, its real. I also believe if the lake was fully investigated, someone will find a large round melted hole through which this UFO entered. This way it could enter an underwater base nearby.

It's not out of this world, but a ball of light that was captured flying over Lake Winnipeg is still a unique event, according to those who study Manitoba's skies. A video of the drifting object was captured on Jan. 11, about 15 kilometres from Jackhead, Man. Henry Traverse says his 16-year-old granddaughter Kieisha Traverse was out fishing on Lake Winnipeg around 3 p.m. when she noticed the ball of light in the sky and took out her phone to record it. "I didn't know what to say or think," Traverse said. "We rarely see those kinds of things in the daytime, but we have experienced those kinds of things in the night," he said. "We have stories that date back — that old fishermen saw fast-moving objects disappearing into the water into the lake," he said.

Wow! I just took a look at this amazing panoramic photo of Chinas after they landed the rover on the dark side of the moon...and what did I find? I instantly noticed a stage prop line for placement of the rover in the photo! Thats right, someone mistakenly placed a line in front of the rover and forgot to erase it. Or they should have made the line much smaller. This screams staged event all together. 

This is very disappointing, but I guess China may have decided since NASA faked the first Apollo moon landing and got away with it, then China wanted in on it too. 

Sure I could be wrong, but if you look at the original photo you will   see that there are no other lines in the entire giant panoramic photo. OMG, this is so very disappointing. Notice the lack of moon rocks on the entire surface of the moon...which is exactly what the first Apollo moon landing also showed...a sign of being faked on a stage. I sure hope that I'm proven wrong on this one. This is not what I wanted to find in this photo.

United States, Navy Captain releases interview on the Battle of Dulce and Secret Space Program!

We offer a very interesting interview with Captain Mark Richards released by Vacaville prison in November 2013 and the previous month of July 2014.

Mark Richards was a Navy officer involved in the Battle of Dulce and very active in the secret space program US Space Command. He was arrested for an alleged murder in reality never committed, classic behavior of the government against someone who knows too many things …

We recall that the Base Dulce is the name given to a hypothetical military installation located in the subsoil of Dulce (New Mexico) (USA). This possible basis is very present in the conspiracy theories concerning UFOs and urban legends of the same environment. According to some ufologists, the base really exists, and covered by military activities is a hub for the study of alien species, new aircraft of the latest generation (Stealth and TR3B) and innovative weapons (impulse cannons or particle beam, microwave, laser , etc …).

Currently, the existence of this base is only the subject of debate, there are no photos or videos to test the ufologists supporters of its existence, unlike the Area 51 but whose existence has been established.

Interview with Captain Mark Richards

This is the first time, in over 30 years of his imprisonment, that a journalist is able to interview him; Kerry Lynn Cassidy did it, although he was not allowed to document this interview face-to-face with the camera or any other recording device. Cassidy was also forbidden to take notes during the interview, everything you are about to see is the result of the memory after the meeting with Richards. Shortly before the interview Cassidy managed to speak briefly with his wife Jo Ann who was also present during the interview.

The Dutch Ellis Loyd Richards Jr., the official agent of the Air Force, met the aliens at Holloman (Air Force Base) in 1964, the same man who allegedly ordered the attack on Dulce in 1979, and whose son, captain Mark Richards would bring the human attack on the structure of the EDH (Earth Defense Headquarter). The interview was recorded in November 2013 but we repeat it through the words of the researcher Carry Cassidy who spent almost 4 hours with the former captain and has transcribed the whole interview.

DISCOVERED 4,000-YEAR EXTRATERRESTRIAL SHIP GRAND CANYON OF COLORADO

Several months ago, a specialized team of experts was hired to examine the remains found in the US Grand Canyon.

When they arrived at the scene, it was said that they had discovered the body of a UFO that had been there for more than 4,000 years.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A team of experts called in to examine strange debris at the bottom of the Grand Canyon discovered the wreckage of a UFO that crashed a mind-boggling 4,000 years ago!

The scientists, members of a secret joint military task force on UFOs, inspected the spherical craft and found it to be in good condition despite its rough landing and incredible age.

The relic is made of an unknown metallic substance and emits low levels of radiation, according to leaks from highly placed sources. It was immediately removed from the site and is now in a secret location.

“My contacts tell me this craft is definitely of extraterrestrial origin and without a doubt carried a crew of 12 to 20 individuals,” said Dr. Henry Leaumont, a California-based astronomer who contacted Weekly World News after he was shown secret Air Force documents relating to the find. “Carbon dating shows it crash-landed at the base of the canyon around 2,000 B.C.

“Cabin features suggest that the crew members were much like humans, although significantly smaller. They apparently breathed oxygen, guided their atom-powered craft with a magnetic steering system and carried supplies of food and water onboard.”

According to reports filed by the scientific team, the spacecraft was lodged in limestone rubble at the base of the canyon not far from an area called Comanche Point.

A thorough inspection of the landing site revealed that the spacecraft’s occupants left their ship and lived near it for a number of years after it crashed.

This impression is confirmed by Indian cave paintings made at the time, the Air Force secret documents attest. The paintings, found near the crash site, show strange humanoid creatures with bulbous heads. Experts believe these creatures were the aliens who arrived in the ancient UFO.

“The ship is made of an extremely light metallic fiber,” Dr. Leaumont said. “It measures about 50 feet across at its widest point and it is 102 feet long. It’s an incredible find – the latest in a series of artifacts collected secretly and hidden away in government UFO study centers.

“There’s a lot of official concern about keeping this latest discovery a secret. They’ve been covering up the truth about alien contacts for 50 years and they’re not going to stop now. They want to study this thing, but they want it only for themselves.

“Who knows what scientists might learn if they’d share this priceless find with the rest of the world?”

Earth's Inconstant Magnetic Field

Our planet's magnetic field is in a constant state of change, say researchers who are beginning to understand how it behaves and why.

Every few years, scientist Larry Newitt of the Geological Survey of Canada goes hunting. He grabs his gloves, parka, a fancy compass, hops on a plane and flies out over the Canadian arctic. Not much stirs among the scattered islands and sea ice, but Newitt's prey is there--always moving, shifting, elusive.

His quarry is Earth's north magnetic pole.

At the moment it's located in northern Canada, about 600 km from the nearest town: Resolute Bay, population 300, where a popular T-shirt reads "Resolute Bay isn't the end of the world, but you can see it from here." Newitt stops there for snacks and supplies--and refuge when the weather gets bad. "Which is often," he says.

Scientists have long known that the magnetic pole moves. James Ross located the pole for the first time in 1831 after an exhausting arctic journey during which his ship got stuck in the ice for four years. No one returned until the next century. In 1904, Roald Amundsen found the pole again and discovered that it had moved--at least 50 km since the days of Ross.

The pole kept going during the 20th century, north at an average speed of 10 km per year, lately accelerating "to 40 km per year," says Newitt. At this rate it will exit North America and reach Siberia in a few decades.

Keeping track of the north magnetic pole is Newitt's job. "We usually go out and check its location once every few years," he says. "We'll have to make more trips now that it is moving so quickly."

Earth's magnetic field is changing in other ways, too: Compass needles in Africa, for instance, are drifting about 1 degree per decade. And globally the magnetic field has weakened 10% since the 19th century. When this was mentioned by researchers at a recent meeting of the American Geophysical Union, many newspapers carried the story. A typical headline: "Is Earth's magnetic field collapsing?"

Probably not. As remarkable as these changes sound, "they're mild compared to what Earth's magnetic field has done in the past," says University of California professor Gary Glatzmaier.

Sometimes the field completely flips. The north and the south poles swap places. Such reversals, recorded in the magnetism of ancient rocks, are unpredictable. They come at irregular intervals averaging about 300,000 years; the last one was 780,000 years ago. Are we overdue for another? No one knows.

According to Glatzmaier, the ongoing 10% decline doesn't mean that a reversal is imminent. "The field is increasing or decreasing all the time," he says. "We know this from studies of the paleomagnetic record." Earth's present-day magnetic field is, in fact, much stronger than normal. The dipole moment, a measure of the intensity of the magnetic field, is now 8 x 1022 amps x m2. That's twice the million-year average of 4 x 1022 amps x m2.

To understand what's happening, says Glatzmaier, we have to take a trip ... to the center of the Earth where the magnetic field is produced.

At the heart of our planet lies a solid iron ball, about as hot as the surface of the sun. Researchers call it "the inner core." It's really a world within a world. The inner core is 70% as wide as the moon. It spins at its own rate, as much as 0.2o of longitude per year faster than the Earth above it, and it has its own ocean: a very deep layer of liquid iron known as "the outer core."

Earth's magnetic field comes from this ocean of iron, which is an electrically conducting fluid in constant motion. Sitting atop the hot inner core, the liquid outer core seethes and roils like water in a pan on a hot stove. The outer core also has "hurricanes"--whirlpools powered by the Coriolis forces of Earth's rotation. These complex motions generate our planet's magnetism through a process called the dynamo effect.

Using the equations of magnetohydrodynamics, a branch of physics dealing with conducting fluids and magnetic fields, Glatzmaier and colleague Paul Roberts have created a supercomputer model of Earth's interior. Their software heats the inner core, stirs the metallic ocean above it, then calculates the resulting magnetic field. They run their code for hundreds of thousands of simulated years and watch what happens.

What they see mimics the real Earth: The magnetic field waxes and wanes, poles drift and, occasionally, flip. Change is normal, they've learned. And no wonder. The source of the field, the outer core, is itself seething, swirling, turbulent. "It's chaotic down there," notes Glatzmaier. The changes we detect on our planet's surface are a sign of that inner chaos.

They've also learned what happens during a magnetic flip. Reversals take a few thousand years to complete, and during that time--contrary to popular belief--the magnetic field does not vanish. "It just gets more complicated," says Glatzmaier. Magnetic lines of force near Earth's surface become twisted and tangled, and magnetic poles pop up in unaccustomed places. A south magnetic pole might emerge over Africa, for instance, or a north pole over Tahiti. Weird. But it's still a planetary magnetic field, and it still protects us from space radiation and solar storms.

And, as a bonus, Tahiti could be a great place to see the Northern Lights. In such a time, Larry Newitt's job would be different. Instead of shivering in Resolute Bay, he could enjoy the warm South Pacific, hopping from island to island, hunting for magnetic poles while auroras danced overhead.

Sometimes, maybe, a little change can be a good thing.

What do you think the person who made this statement was referring to by “this”? If you said “UFO research,” thank you for joining our conversation, Senator Reid! Yes, those words were spoken in a recent radio interview given by the former U.S. senator from Nevada, Harry Reid. It’s not important what party he belongs to because a topic as important as this should be bipartisan, right?

It’s good to see Senator Reid back fighting for disclosure after he himself disclosed in 2017 that he was retiring from Capitol Hill after receiving a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. After two years of treatment and despite a fatalistic piece in The New York Times about him just last weekend, Reid says he’s strong and has a good life and looks to be in good enough health to kick that heavy Sunday edition of the Times into the street. However, what he came to KNPR Nevada Public Radio to talk about was UFOs and some other minor stuff going on in Washington and the White House. (Listen to the interview here.)

“I think it is something we can’t ignore. I personally don’t know if there exist little green men places. I kind of doubt that, but I do believe the information we have indicates we should do a lot more study. We have hundreds and hundreds of people that have seen the same thing — something in the sky, it moves a certain way.”

Many of those “hundreds and hundreds” of witnesses are military pilots, and Reid was getting ready to meet with an unnamed senator still in office about giving these pilots protection from retaliation for coming forward with their accounts – pilots have long feared telling about the strange crafts they’ve seen because previous witnesses were ridiculed, harassed, recommended for psychiatric evaluation, passed over for promotions and more. Reid hopes this senator will champion a safe place for pilots and other military witnesses – radar operators, sailors who have seen unidentified submerged objects, etc. – to share their experiences and possibly video or audio recordings.

“Oh sure, I’ve been to Area 51. I know Area 51. I don’t know if I should say many times, but lots and lots of times. I know Area 51 quite well, I know what they’ve done there. I don’t know in recent years, of course, but I know what went on there.”

Is Reid a witness who needs protection too? He didn’t give any more details about Area 51, which is in the state he represented. Nor did he say what should be done after the witnesses come forward. It was revealed in 2017 that Reid helped sneak $22 million into the annual Defense Department budget for the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, which we now know was shut down in 2012 after being run at the Pentagon by military intelligence official Luis Elizondo, who is now part of the To the Stars Academy of Arts and Sciences which is continuing its investigations and disclosures.

Those seeking UFO disclosure had a friend in Harry Reid when he was in the Senate. Can Reid convince his unnamed friend (rumored to be Reid’s former deputy, Senate Minority Whip Richard J. Durbin who is the ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee) to take up the mantle?

Can he convince anyone? Two other senators who supported the program — Ted Stevens of Alaska and Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii – died in office (Inouye) or shortly after leaving (Stevens). Reid was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after leaving office.

Our reality relies on balance and symmetry. From our physical laws (“for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”) to philosophical musings (“as above, so below”) through pop culture (“the love you take is equal to the love you make”), the idea that nature is balanced by default seems hardwired into our heads. And it is, for the most part. The symmetry of the laws of nature holds up pretty well, up until you get to one of the biggest unsolved problems in all of cosmology: there’s a whole half of the universe that’s straight up missing.

The current model of our universe suggests that for every particle of matter, there should be an equal particle of antimatter. Of course, that isn’t true, evidenced by the fact that we’re still here. If antimatter was in equal parts to our boring old regular matter, the whole universe would explode. Our model of the universe states that there should be an equal amount of antimatter, yet it’s only through antimatter’s mysterious absence that we have a physical universe at all. So what gives?

Boom.

A new theory may have the answer. According to an article published in the journal Physical Review Letters, the antimatter problem may be solved if we consider our universe after the big bang as only one half of the universe. The other half of the universe would be a mirror image of ours, stretching backwards in time from the big bang and composed almost entirely of antimatter, just as ours is composed almost entirely of matter. This mirror image would have all of it’s properties flipped: positive charged particles would be negative, up would be down, left would be right. The same as ours, just opposite in every way.

This theory has several advantages, says physicist Neil Turok. For one, it explains another sticky problem of cosmology: the existence of “dark matter,” which makes up the bulk of the universe yet is invisible and undetectable. This mirror image model of the universe states that all that elusive mass from dark matter may be caused by elusive, ultra-massive particles called “sterile neutrinos,” which would have a mass some 500 million times that of a proton. Interestingly, this number would line up with some anomalous readings taken by the Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA).

Another advantage is that it gives us a way to explain several of the complications with the period of rapid expansion right after the big bang without having to invent new particles or forces.

Like this but, you know, opposite.

A problem with the theory, however, is that it doesn’t explain some of the temperature variations in the cosmic microwave background radiation, leftover energy from the big bang, that scientists have detected. According to Neil Turok, that was a sticking point with the peer reviewers for the paper, but he says:

“They said you have to explain the fluctuations and we said that is a work in progress. Eventually they gave in.”

Whether or not they gave in from being convinced that they were in fact working on it, or were just tired of a physicist’s browbeating is unknown, but all new theories generally have problems like this. They’re trying to explain the universe, after all. It’s complicated stuff.

It’s certainly an intriguing theory, and the model of a universe with two equal yet opposite halves extending in in either direction through time is a beautiful and elegant model. Is it true? We’ll see. But don’t worry, even if this does explain ours, we’ll have a whole other universe to be wrong about.

Whitley Strieber’s 1987 best-selling book, Communion, brought the world of alien abductions to a massive, mainstream audience. During the course of investigating his experiences that prompted him to write Communion, Strieber discovered something intriguing: that the name “Aura Rhanes” – an alleged human-like alien encountered by a man named Truman Bethurum in 1952 – was extremely similar to “Aerach Reann,” a Gaelic term that translates approximately to “heavenly body of air.” It must be said that the fashion by which Bethurum became entranced by Aura Rhanes (“tops in shapeliness and beauty” was how smitten Bethurum described her) mirrors those centuries-old cases of hapless and helpless men falling under the spell of the fairy queen. Strieber pursued this Gaelic issue.

In the same time-frame that Truman Bethurum was under the hypnotic spell of Aura Rhanes, a controversial man named George Adamski claimed encounters with human-like extraterrestrials in the deserts of California. There’s no doubt that Adamski was, and still is, the ultimate Contactee – regardless of what one might make of his claimed experiences with the long-haired, human-looking “Space Brothers,” as he termed them. What is particularly interesting is that one of Adamski’s alleged brothers from the stars was named Firkon. Strieber says of this: “Fir or fear when used as a prefix means ‘man,’ and Conn, meaning ‘Head,’ is the name of a seventh-century Irish king whose son, tradition tells us, was abducted by a beautiful lady in a flying craft. Firkon means, in Gaelic, ‘man of Conn.’”

Then there are the experiences of a young man named Bob Renaud. On one particular night in July 1961, Renaud picked up an extraordinary message while “browsing around the shortwave bands” in his small, Massachusetts town. It began with a series of bleeps but was soon replaced by a female voice, which later identified herself as Linn-Erri from the planet Korendor. As was the case in so many Contactee-themed cases of the 1950s and 1960s, Renaud had repeated and extensive chats with his newfound alien friends, many of which were focused on the aliens’ fears that we, the Human Race, were on the verge of destroying ourselves. Also closely following the trend of so many Contactees, Linn-Erri and her comrades took Renaud on trips to secret, alien installations, and taught him to create complex machines, one of which was somewhat akin to an old-style television set. It reportedly allowed Renaud to see Linn-Erri in the flesh, so to speak. She was, said Renaud, a ravishing blond, who looked to be about nineteen years of age, but who claimed to be closer to her mid-seventies – in human years.

It’s not unreasonable to suggest that this could all have been provoked by nothing stranger than the late night, hormone-driven fantasies of a young man run wild. But, as with the equally controversial saga of Truman Bethurum, there is something that makes Bob Renaud’s story intriguing, as Strieber states in his work. Strieber notes that the aliens’ alleged home planet, Korendor, is very similar to a Gaelic term that Strieber described as “a place of oracle.”

Betty Andreasson is someone who has had a lifetime of profound interaction with other-world entities and whose encounters caught the attention of Strieber. On one occasion in the 1960s, when Andreasson was deep in channeling-style conversation with a small, large-headed alien being named Quaazga, a curious statement was made to Andreasson in a language that she could not understand. One person didunderstand it, however: a man named Leonard Keane. Listening to audio-recordings of Andreasson relating the statement word for word, he concluded the alien was speaking in a form of ancient Gaelic, which translated to the following: “The living descendants of the Northern Peoples are groping in universal darkness. Their mother mourns. A dark occasion forebodes when weakness in high places will revive a high cost of living, an interval of mistakes in high places, an interval fit for distressing events.”

You don’t know the power of the dark side.

When Darth Vader growled those words to Luke Skywalker, he was warning his son against questing for unlimited power, as he knew that quest would lead only to tragedy. Could those words ring true in real life? I mean, on some levels they obviously do. Those who reach the highest often stoop the lowest as they claw their way up the ladder of life at all costs. But what about the actual dark side; could Vader’s warning apply to China’s current quest for power on the dark side of the Moon?

China’s space agency landed their Chang’e 4 probe on the far side of our Moon last week, an achievement which got little coverage here in the Trump-obsessed US. Still, the accomplishment is a major one in the history of human space travel, even if some analysts warn that the move was more militaristic than it might seem. Isn’t all space travel, though?

China has already established a scientific laboratory on the dark side of the Moon which, if it works properly, will grow potatoes and silkworms. Neat. China’s Moon mission isn’t all vegetables and worms, though; there might be a hidden ulterior motive involved. According to a report published in the South China Morning Post, the Chinese might have sent their probe to the dark side in order to hunt for a rare and potentially invaluable fuel which could revolutionize spaceflight as we know it.

That fuel is helium-3, a non-radioactive isotope which appears to be common on the lunar surface. Helium-3 could hypothetically be mined or otherwise extracted from the lunar surface and used to power spacecraft for long-distance journeys. Even more promising, those spacecraft could make a refueling pit stop on the Moon as they make their way into deeper corners of space.

One of the biggest hurdles to overcome to achieve deep space flight is finding sufficient fuel sources. A fuel station on the moon could help spacecraft reach more distant destinations.

The Mysterious Genius Who Patented the UFO

Alexander Weygers, a Renaissance man in the mold of the tech industry’s stated ideal, inspired an art dealer to become an acolyte.

Alexander Weygers made numerous detailed drawings of an aircraft called the "Discopter", a vertical liftoff aircraft that looked very much like what was to be later termed "flying saucer" and other drawings of an American cities specifically flying saucers in San Francisco and as well as a port in Chicago.

He sent these detailed plans to all the branches of the U.S. Military and was eventually told that they were intrigued by the concept and the design of the craft but were not prepared at that time because the war effort superseded its development.

However he did indeed patent the design for the "Discopter" in January 1944 with the U.S. Patent Office and it served as the prototype for other similar aircraft that have been developed up to the present day.

A UFO Bewilders Derbyshire Town Residents

An unidentified flying object (UFO) was observed in the night skies over Derbyshire on January 8, 2019. Thousands of bewildered residents have been discussing in the social media about the neon green flash, which many want to believe produced by the UFO that was spotted in the sky between 4 pm and 5 pm.

Ilkeston resident Debbie Pickard said she had seen three flashes of green light from her office window. The 37-year-old principal added that it looked like something shot through the houses. She described the source of green light as not very high, and it seemed to travel horizontally.

She ruled out the possibility that it was a drone as the UFO was miles away than the drones could travel. She believes it is a UFO by definition.

Ms Pickard revealed that she spotted the same thing in 1988 together with her dad. It was confirmed on the Gatwick radar, and it was in the papers then.

She did not get a photo of the strange neon green flash as it disappeared after just seconds.

Some witnesses have said that the flash of light had a blue colour and it formed a crescent shape.

One Beeston resident took to Facebook sharing their encounter of the strange UFO.

They said that they’ve just spotted a bright light streaking across the sky towards the north of Beeston. They believed that it was not a firework or aircraft.

The American Meteor Society and UK Meteor Watch received 63 reports of a fireball, including from East Leake, Stoke-on-Trent, Sheffield, and Edinburgh.

There are also dash-cam videos showing a bright blue fireball shooting across the sky, but it remains unclear what it was precisely at this time.

People on social media have various suggestions ranging from a spotlight from the university to a UFO doing a mysterious activity.

Experiencers, Unique Intuition, and Biomarkers

I’ve been fortunate enough to have slides shared with me by Dr. Garry Nolan (@GarryPNolan) a professor at Stanford University who has been undertaking some incredible work on a patient population brought to him by Dr Kit Green that might shed light on individuals with unique cognitive and intuitive abilities. The study was accomplished in close collaboration with Dr Christopher (Kit) Canfield Green who worked for the CIA between the 1970s and 1980s, and who is now a private physician in forensic medical practice, and is affiliated with the Departments of Diagnostic Radiology and Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at the Wayne State School of Medicine and Detroit Medical Center.

The presentation itself occurred during the Consortium for Space Genetics at Harvard Medical School, so carries weight not only from the people giving the presentation but from the venue as well. The whole talk centers on one main topic with two relating subtexts. The leading reason for the talk isquestioning whether there is evidence for biological indicators that identifies people with unique forms of intuition and the two subtexts being the intuition itself with related information on what’s known as “experiencers” – more on those later.

It’s important to mention that some of the details may sound like a work of science fiction, but the information here was presented to a group of mainstream scientists at one of the most prestigiousuniversities in the world. If doubt arises, please consider performing some research into the authors of the paper and looking into the histories around this subject. While it’s important to have some skepticism, I would suggest it’s also important to consider the wider picture and message being sent.

Several of the slides are included in this article to better represent the information that was shared at Harvard back in December 2018; as agreed with the authors of the slides not all can be shared. The first slide is shown in Figure 1.

What is Intuition?

A question asked in the talk is whether there are forms of inherited intuition that are handed down across families that allows for distinct forms of intelligence and which are correlated, roughly, bycontributing to higher IQ (later referred to those with >140). The subtext asked is whether thisbenefits the population with “high intuition” and “high performance”. It would appear these indicators are present in the patients included in the trial, however, it’s not clear whether such high performance is absolutely required to be considered an “intuit” along with the required brain connections (discussed below). According to Green and Nolan, a wider patient population will be required to explore this matter further.

The primary section of interest will be the intuitive abilities, since high performers – while rare– are possibly less unique than people with the brain features as outlined in the presentation. The definitionof intuition, and there are many, are initially mentioned in Figure 2.

The concepts above are from the mainstream literature, which has honed an understanding of where decisions are made in the brain when presented with complex problems to be solved in 1) limited time and with 2) limited information. The cohort studied by Green and Nolan included a heavy sampling of individuals whose daily jobs, and lives, depended on taking the correct course of action for time-limited events and have fast problem solving. While interesting, this alone doesn’t make the patients seem especially unique, it’s when we get later in the slides that we start to get an idea of the broader picture.

The following was included in the presentation to show that identification of a particular area of the brain involved in these processes may have been first recognized by a Russian neuroscientist by the name of Oleg Sergeivich Adrianov (Figure 3).

Now this is where the nature of the patients’ abilities starts to reveal itself. Dr. Adrianov has called out “high integrative activity”, which is much the same as listed in the prior slide, and then, “programming future activity” and “foreseeing the future”. All of which allow the brain to have a “higher psychic function”. This is especially interesting since it seems to indicate that people can anticipate future events. Of course, that’s what intuition is—just predicting what might happen. The open question is from where the information in the brain, or environment, arrives. Whether these people are particularly good at processing information from their senses in a way that allows them to predict the most likely course of action logically or if they’re witnessing some sense of future information remains unanswered. I believe it the latter. If they’re able to foresee (remote view) the future, without having the data at hand as understood by mainstream physics, then it would suggest that some level of precognition of future events are possible. While none of the slides even speculate about this per se, the mention of the work of Dr. Adrianov is revealing in and of itself.

While an aside, it was alluded to elsewhere in the slides that people have “multiple episodes” without explicitly stating the type of episodes suffered. It’s specified as being “Hallucinations… NOT”, so presumably these people are getting visions or are seeing/hearing things to which the general populace may be oblivious. Later in the slides it’s mentioned that people see “visual and auditory of orbs, voices, entities”, it’s worth noting that these experiences are not detailed beyond this piece of text.

Experiencers

Individuals commonly referred to as “Experiencers” are people that have received exposure to something that would normally be referred to as paranormal, whether that be UFOs, spirits, ghosts, or religious apparitions. These can be experienced when these people are, as mentioned in the slides, “awake”. While the talk never specifically mentions paranormal, it seems to suggest that hallucinations may not explain the visual or auditory experiences, the slides are vague on this point. I suspect this was Dr Nolan’s intent to not distract from the central message of “real science” and data.

The presentation again mentions savant level IQs, so it can only be assumed that this is a main requirement for the experiences. It also has more references to genetic inheritance as two brothers and their mother are mentioned as well as a father, mother, and daughter.

While the study points out to the, now, mainstream understanding of the caudate-putamen’s role in processing complex information, it is possible to speculate that the study population might be capable of interpreting some information from their environments to which the rest of the population may be somewhat blind. Whether this is the “akashic field” that’s been spoken about in various esoteric religions and scripts, Annie Jacobsen’s reporting on the “spidey sense” program(http://time.com/4721715/phenomena-annie-jacobsen/) , or something else is not clear. Considering it’s mentioned that people see “entities”, it may be possible that such a thing (whatever they are – religious spirits, aliens, fairies, etc.), if existing, may be drawn to these people. We should consider the possibility that they’re attracting these things as these people can interpret their environmental changes in a manner that makes some forms of communication feasible. Without full analysis of the communication across a blinded population, it may be impossible to read much more into any possible consistent message being received. However, this is speculation on my part.

Caudate-Putamen

The general focus of the slides appears to be the identification of a physical biomarker (by MRI brain scan) that can be used to identify people that have these novel traits. There are no references to DNA analyses in the slides, so the genetic DNA markers are unlikely to have been identified by the time of the presentation. It’s entirely possible that should the features be genetically determined, they will require the interplay of thousands of genes that architect the relevant brain functions, making genetic analyses difficult until more precisely determined.

The brain feature that correlates to this patient population are the connections between the caudate and the putamen. Helpfully, the slides show normal brain connections compared with those in the study group, again none of the brain scans from the slides can be shared here due to privacy reasons.

In some of the images it’s possible to see a scan of a patient with the specific caudate and putamen connections with the relating sections highlighted. While the MRI scans cannot be shown here, some of the “cartoon” 3D renders that have been prepared are shown in Figure 4.

The oval shaped section is the putamen with the tail being the caudate (see the figure above for specifics, from http://what-when-how.com/neuroscience/the-basal-ganglia-motor-systems-part-1/).

In the 3D rendered image of Figure 4’s slide, on the right all the additional connections (termed hyper)between both parts are highlighted (the lines or nerves connecting the two). The total number of these connections or strands are not as complex for the control population (as measured in 100 ‘normals’), as shown in the left-hand side of the image.

Fundamentally, the additional connections (or strands) between these areas of the brain are speculated to identify people that have higher intuitive capabilities that are not present in the greater populace. At present this is only correlation, speculation, and no causality has been demonstrated. The significance of these findings may start to become more apparent as more details are released and data are available. Dr Nolan insisted in our side discussions that these findings are, so far, preliminary data and require considerable further analysis. While the study was carried out in a blinded fashion, it was his feeling that the study of this area of the brain can be accelerated by pointing out these findings to others for independent verification and invite the field in general to participate. Apparently, since many mainstream scientists are focused on this area of the basal ganglia and its role in decision making processes, data will be forthcoming from others to support, or not, the speculation put forward.

Whether or not these people are approaching an evolution of the species or if these types of rare connections are present in what would have been present in the shamans of the past remains unclear, but it appears that Drs Nolan and Green are onto something interesting.

It’s worth noting that patients with ADHD and autism (as presented in the talk) have been shown in the mainstream literature to have deficits in the caudate region of the basal ganglia—among other deficits. This supports the role of this region in “perception” and information management. There are no indicators as to the population size when compared to the control to determine percentage rates across the general population. But publicly available databases of brain MRIs might be scanned to determine the frequency of the trait.

Might our species may be going through an evolutionary process as suggested by several scientists in their papers over the past few years? My speculation in this blog posting is that perhaps as consciousness evolves to interpret messages from elsewhere (for instance a hyperdimensional space if you’re willing to accept the “woo”), then this region of the brain might be involved. Considering that super-string theory suggests that there may be as many as ten spatial dimensions and that our minds, or consciousness, appear to exist in something greater than the three usual spatial dimensions, then maybe there is some exposure is occurring to wider/greater dimensional spaces.

The significance of the details of this presentation are potentially dramatic. While Drs Nolan and Green were not claiming at all that this area of the brain functions as an antenna per say, what ifhumans are experiencing evolutionary changes that allow access (whether visual or auditory) to some future events, and be in receipt of information from something “other” that currently can’t be easily objectively measured? Given the role of the caudate putamen in the mainstream understanding of information processing, it is reasonable to speculate it would be involved in processing data from anomalous sources.

While it may be trickier to accept, there have been suggestions from psychics in the past that have for all intents and purposes intuited the exact same brain connections Drs Nolan and Green determined empirically. Specifically, Dr Nolan called out in one of his later slides the book “Through the Curtain”by Viola Petitt Neal and Shafica Karagulla. Ms. Neal talks about this exact area of the brain, it’sconnections to higher consciousness capabilities in the 1960s—well before mainstream neuroscience understood the role of the caudate-putamen in cognition. The full detail around this will be covered in a later article.

Everybody always says, “if they’re here then why don’t they just show up.” “They” is referring to extraterrestrials of course, and there are probably a million reasons as to why a more intelligent race from the “outside” looking in would not want to interact with us on such an open level just yet. To an outsider, we might not look the most attractive. The planet is plagued with war, poverty, diseases, greed, and secrecy. Environmentally it’s a disaster, and despite the fact that our potential is literally limitless, we choose to live in a way that is not really harmonious with the planet and all life on it. These are just a few of many reasons. Not to mention the fact that full blown contact might be a little more than our minds can handle, but perhaps not?

All of the theories surrounding the “alien takeover” agenda fail to account for the evidence that points to the fact that they’re already here, and that they’ve been visiting us for a very very long period of time.

That being said, sightings of unidentified objects, even ones performing physics-defying maneuvers have been documented by military authorities via visual and radar confirmation for decades, but whether or not these craft are ‘ET’ is an entirely different question. We do have, however, statements from hundreds of credible witnesses alluding to the fact that yes, some of them are indeed extraterrestrial in origin.

Was this the case with what happened in Phoenix Arizona in March of 1997? On this day, something extraordinary happened that, as Kurt mentions in the video below, was witnessed by 20,000 people, recorded by multiple cameras, which was then in-turn witnessed by millions.

Kurt Russell, a well known American actor is also a pilot, and on that day he was flying into the city and witnessed this phenomenon first hand. Listen to him share his story in the interview below.

“We’re on approach and I saw 6 lights over the airport in absolute uniform, in a V shape…It’s unidentified, it is flying and it’s 6 objects….That was the most viewed UFO event, over 20,000 people saw that.”

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED?

It began with Luke Air Force Base, the media, the National UFO Reporting Center, the Governor’s office, and the police receiving a number of reports from people in Nevada of a very large craft hovering in the sky. Some people were reporting it as a boomerang formation of lights, just as Kurt describes in the video above.

The object (or objects) began moving south towards Arizona where even more people would see it. Again, people were not reporting just lights hovering in the sky, they were reporting an actual solid object, a craft of some sort, spanning the size of one or two football fields. The witness reports detail lights, sometimes multiple lights, in a pattern that ranged from a few all the way up to a dozen, all in some sort of organized formation. Witnesses reported them as white, and in some cases they were orange, red, or yellow. Reports indicate that at some point, the lights moved at very rapid speeds, while at others, they moved slowly and were also reported to hover. Some people described it as a huge, wedge-shaped craft with five lights on it. Some people claim that it passed directly over their heads and even hovered there for extended periods of time. People reported seeing, again, a large solid object, even going into detail about certain features they could spot on the craft.

“It was a giant V, and the right side of the V went over us, the left side was a couple blocks over.”

Again, this object has been described as massive, the size of one to two football fields.

There were a number of these types of descriptions from people who witnessed the object.

These types of reports came in at a time where it was much easier to make out the object or objects that were in the sky, as there was still some daylight. It was not until later that evening at approximately 10 pm when people in Arizona witnessed something truly spectacular. As UFO researcher Richard Dolan describes it:

“People in Phoenix were treated to an amazing display of hovering lights over the city. These lights appeared to be motionless and in perfect formation. They were truly an astounding sight to behold: an enormous semi-circular string of lights in the night sky.”

The event received massive amounts of media attention.

Fife Symington, the Governor of Arizona at the time, even held a press conference that featured a large and costumed alien mocking all of the UFO enthusiasts, but it seemed goodhearted in nature and, according to him, was done to lighten the mood.

What is interesting to note, however, is that Fife was keeping something to himself – he actually witnessed the event, and the former Air Force veteran spoke out years after the event (when his stint as governor ended) saying:

“If you had been here 10 years ago, standing out here and looking out there at the lights, you would have been astounded, you would have been amazed. I suspect that unless the Department of Defense can prove otherwise, then it was probably some form of alien spacecraft. It was enormous and it just felt otherworldly, in your gut you could just tell it was otherworldly.”

See the Far Side of the Moon in This Amazing Panorama from China's Chang'e 4 Lander

Because the panorama was captured by the Chang'e 4 lander, it shows on the left the Yutu 2 rover, complete with the tire tracks left behind by the adventuring robot. Yutu 2 has a little more freedom to explore, but although it was deployed on Jan. 3, it soon settled down for a nap to avoid overheating during the long lunar day. The moon's surface experiences days and nights that each last about 14 Earth days, and the mission landed just after sunrise at Von Kármán Crater. Chinese media reported yesterday (Jan. 10) that Yutu 2 successfully woke upfrom that nap — a feat its predecessor, the Yutu rover, had failed to accomplish in 2013. Expect those tracks from the rover's tires to lengthen in future photographs.

The panorama also shows the edges of some of the science instrumentsonboard the Chang'e 4 lander itself. According to the China National Space Administration (CNSA), several of those instruments, which are collaborations between China and other governments, have already been turned on. They are starting to gather observations on the lunar far side and should send science data back within the next few weeks, according to CNSA.

Information cannot be sent directly from the lunar far side to Earth — the moon's bulk gets in the way. Instead, signals are sent from the lunar surface up to a relay satellite called Queqiao, which launched in May 2018 and is hovering in an orbital "parking spot" from which it can communicate with Earth.

In addition to the panorama view, each robot has sent back an image of its compatriot on the surface. We may also get a bird's-eye view of the mission. That would come courtesy of NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, which is due to fly over the site on Jan. 31.

DIT KAN NOOIT DOOR DE ROMEINEN ZIJN GEBOUWD ( VIDEO )

Eén van de meest mysterieuze plaatsen ter wereld ligt in Libanon; Baalbek heeft ruïnes uit de tijd van de Romeinse overheersing. 

De Romeinen hebben tempels gebouwd op fundamenten waarvan onbekend is wie ze daar heeft neergelegd, met welk doel en waarom.

Zo wordt in de mainstream wereld de mysterieuze plaats Baalbek in Libanon verklaard. Het mainstreamverhaal gaat als volgt verder: 

Inmiddels staat dit ruïnecomplex op de Werelderfgoedlijst van de UNESCO. 

Baalbek wordt of wel Balabakk genoemd, het is een stad in Libanon gelegen in de Bekaa vallei. Deze vallei ligt tussen de rivieren Litani en Orontes. De naam Baalbek betekent: “Baäl van Beka”. Baäl was een god.

In deze stad, die voornamelijk bekend staat om zijn ruïnes, wonen ongeveer 55.000 mensen. De wereldberoemde Romeinse tempels zijn gebouwd ter ere van Jupiter, Heliopolitanus, Venus en Bacchus. Voordat de Romeinen hier gingen bouwen, waren de Feniciërs hen al voor geweest, evenals de Grieken. 

Deze bouwwerken van Baalbek zijn het grootste en bestbewaarde voorbeeld van de Romeinse bouwkunst. Er staan nog steeds 6 zuilen van ieder 20 meter hoog op de plaats van de voormalige tempel van Jupiter. De afmeting van de tempel moet ooit het grootste tempel van het Romeinse imperium zijn geweest het was ongeveer 49 x 88 meter groot.

Deze tempel wordt beschouwd als één van de belangrijkste Romeinse ruïnes ter wereld. De ruïnes, van zowel Jupiter, Bacchus en Venus zijn van een enorme schoonheid. De 2.000 jaar oude tempel van Bacchus is groot en nog zeer goed intact. De tempel van Jupiter echter was groter dan die van Bacchus. Dit is niet uit de ruïnes af te lezen, want er is niet zoveel meer van over. 

Tot zover de mainstream fabeltjes. 

Ze zeggen wel eens dat Chinezen bijna alles kunnen, maar vlak de Romeinen ook niet uit. Volgens de mainstream wetenschap zijn zij degenen die al die enorme granietblokken en pilaren in Baalbek op hun plek hebben weten te krijgen. 

Dat niet alleen, al die honderden blokken en delen van pilaren zouden afkomstig zijn uit de steengroeves van Aswan in het zuiden van Egypte en door de Romeinen een kleine 2.000 kilometer zijn verplaatst. 

In de onderstaande video die is gemaakt door iemand die Jimmy heet en een oorlogsveteraan is uit de oorlog met Irak, wordt meer dan duidelijk gemaakt dat de Romeinen simpelweg niet beschikten over de middelen om dergelijke bouwwerken tot stand te brengen. 

Hoe graag de mainstream wetenschap ons dit ook wil doen geloven, het wass niet mogelijk voor een volk als de Romeinen om dit voor elkaar te krijgen. 

Bovendien is het bekend dat de Romeinen alles wat ze deden op schrift vastlegden en er bestaat geen enkel verslag over het bouwen van tempels in Baalbek. 

Niet alleen is Evert Jan Poorterman van mening dat wij het uitverkoren volk zijn, ook spreekt hij over de raketbasis Baalbek die door kernwapens zou zijn vernietigd. 

En de weg terug naar Adam die reeds Diets sprak met God in de Hof van Eden. Jaren terug kreeg ik van Herman Hegge (van Frontier Magazine...) een wit T-shirt dat hij had opgeduikeld op de Amsterdamse Vrijmarkt op koninginnedag. In oranje staat het volgende te lezen; 'As finishing touch, God created the Dutch'... en zo is het ook! Als deel van de 12 stammen Israëls kunnen we stellen dat Nederland mensen herbergt die tot de 'uitverkorenen' behoren en verwant zijn aan de oer-Nederlanders of de proto-Friezen die 500 tot 800 jaren daarvoor al vertrokken uit de landen Babylon, Sumer en Akkad. Niet vrijwillig maar gedwongen. De Babyloniërs vanwege wateroverlast en de anderen vanwege de atoombommen op Sodom en Gomorrah, op de Sinaï en de Baälbek (raketbasis in de Beka-vallei in de Libanon...). Zo weken tal van volken uit het Midden-Oosten uit naar het noordwesten van Europa. Maar dat begon bij Adam2. God zei in Genesis

Of Evert Jan het goed heeft, weten wij niet, maar wat wij wel weten is dat we in de schoolbanken zoals gewoonlijk weer worden bedonderd.

The sheer amount and variety of animals on our planet is astounding. Some have learned to live with us in our homes and in the cities and on farms. Others are rare and usually only seen in places that are relatively unreachable to people like high mountaintops or severely cold and isolated climates.

There is a whole ocean of rarely seen creatures that run the gamut in terms of appearance and sizes. Some of the following animals live deep down in the waters and rarely or never see the rays of our sun. These particular animals live in environments so drastically different than any other animals that lives above water, they almost look like aliens! Barely recognizable eyes, translucent skin, and multiple limbs are only some of the oddities that underwater creatures feature on their small or huge bodies.

Many of the following underwater creatures live in very remote areas of the globe and are rarely seen by the human eye because they live so deep in the ocean. Creatures that live so far down in the waters have no reason to come up to the shore for anything, therefore they remain a mystery to most of us.

In the following list, we see 25 pictures of underwater creatures that we just can't seem to wrap our heads around.

25. RED LIPPED BATFISH

The Red-Lipped Batfish is truly a unique kind of fish. While most people would assume that fish get to where they need to go by swimming, the Red-Lipped Batfish has adapted to be able to rest its fins on the ocean floor and move them as if it was walking on the bottom of the ocean! Walking isn’t the only special feature of these fish however. One of their most visible defining features are the lipstick red lips that they seem to have in a permanent pout. Don’t let these elegant red lips fool you though, the Red Lipped Batfish is an opportunistic carnivore that thankfully only consumes smaller fish, mollusks, and crustaceans (nationalgeographic).

24. BOBBIT WORM

One of the many species of worms on this list, the Bobbit Worm may be one of the ones we least want to come across if we happen to be wandering across an ocean floor. Because it is an ambush predator, the Bobbit Worm catches its prey by burying its body in gravel, mud, or corals and waiting patiently until it senses prey approaching with one of its five antennas. Once the timing is right, the Bobbit Worm will attack ferociously with a quickness that is usually not attributed to worms (reefnation). One other feature that we usually don’t associate with worms? Teeth and toxins. But the Bobbit Worm has sharp teeth and injects prey with a toxin that renders can stun or even kill it.

23. SEA ANGEL

Sea Angels seem to look like a combination that is very eye catching because of it’s meanings. While the name Sea Angel is almost certainly a testament to the “wings” that seem to be sprouting from its back, it also has two very distinct horns that remind one of something a bit less angelic… In actuality, the two “wings” are actually feet that have evolved to look like wings and are used to move along gracefully through the waters. Sea Angels are actually slugs and this particular kind has a translucent body and are tiny- they rarely grow over 5 cm in length.

22. GIANT ISOPOD

Looking like a creature out of an alien movie, the Giant Isopod prefers the cold waters and the sparse light of the Oceans and they can be found thousands of feet below the surface of the freezing waters in the Antarctic. Because they live in such harsh conditions, Giant Isopods have slower metabolism and limit their movements until they absolutely have to, usually to catch any food that has managed to make its way so far down which is pretty scarce (discovery). Due to the low light conditions of their habitat, Giant Isopods rely more on their antennas to guide them rather than their eyes.

21. RIBBON EEL

Ribbon eels are often found in lagoons or coastal reefs throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The Ribbon Eel literally looks like a thick cut ribbon being that it is long and thin with a colorful and bright pattern all along its flat body. Since it is so thin, the Ribbon Eel likes to hide in the dark, small and narrow crevices of the reefs or rocks. The Ribbon Eel usually swims with its mouth hanging open and makes a beautiful pattern with its long body as it travels that can be mesmerizing for any diver able to spot one.

20. SQUIDWORM

Sometimes we wonder why some creatures were given certain names, but one close up look at the Squidworm gives a strong clue. The name “Squidworm” is actually a bit misleading since technically this creature is all worm. The difference between the Squidworm and the worms we would normally think of, such as the familiar Earthworm, is that this deep sea resident has a number of long tentacles on its head that make it look like two different kinds of animals were fused together to create it (nationalgeographic). The Squidworm uses its multiple tentacles for activities such as breathing, feeling its way around the deep sea, and feeding.

19. BLOBFISH

Probably the most unfortunate looking creature on the list is the gelatinous Blobfish. The name is quite appropriate since without any bones or teeth, the Blobfish really doesn’t have much structure to its body or face. With features that make it look like it is in a bad mood all the time, the Blobfish floats along the sea floors of Australia and New Zealand ingesting any small creatures that happen to cross its path. Because it can’t really move and depends on the oceans currents to help it travel, the Blobfish is far from a dangerous predator, but still probably not one anyone wants to encounter (discovery).

18. GOBLIN SHARK

Sharks in general are pretty fearsome creatures, but as far as looks go the Goblin Shark is one of the stranger looking types in the shark family. Also referred to as the “Vampire Shark” because of its preference for living in the darkness and shadows of the deep sea. Where in the globe doesn’t particularly matter since Goblin Sharks have been hauled up by fishermen in places like France, Brazil, and the Gulf of México. Wherever they are found, their unique shape is sure to make a frightening impression and makes us glad they live so deep down in the sea.

17. BARRELEYE FISH

The Barrelfish is another underwater creature that seems better suited for an appearance in a science fiction movie. Unlike many other fishes, the Barrelfish has a translucent head where one can easily see all of the organs. While on the one hand it offers a very clear look into the anatomy of this fish, the unfiltered inside look into their heads is a bit off putting which is probably why one of the other names of this fish is the “Spookfish” (nationalgeographic). Barrelfish usually make their homes in the deep waters off of the coast of California and the North Pacific region.

16. CHRISTMAS TREE WORM

Although it certainly does not look like any kind of worm we might think of when hearing that word, the Christmas Tree Worm is just that- a worm that lives on tropical coral reefs around the globe. They are relatively small and on average grow to about 1.5 inches in length, but they are always brightly colored which make them stand out as they cling to the coral reefs where they make their home (discovery). Since these worms are sedentary, once they find a place they like where they can withstand the tides and find enough to eat, they usually stick around for a while.

15. ARMORED SNAIL

One of the few creatures on this list that does not make its home in the sea or oceans, the Armored Snail prefers the less active waters of freshwater springs, streams- and specifically in Piney and Limestone Creeks in Limestone County, Alabama which is the only place to date that this particular type of snail has ever been spotted. The snail size reaches up to .16 inches in length so it can’t do much damage towards other creatures, but it can certainly defend itself from other creatures because of its hard shell that grows with them so that it is always protected (nationalgeographic).

14. ANGLERFISH

One of the most fearsome, and angry, looking underwater creatures on this list, the Anglerfish stands out from other fishes because of its large, balloon like body and clearly prominent rows of jagged, sharp teeth (discovery). Because they typically live at such deep depths, usually in the Atlantic and Antarctic oceans, they rely on a built in “lure” of luminous flesh that hangs over their heads and attracts prey that is then quickly and easily snatched into their mouths. Because of their wide, round bodies the Anglerfish isn’t the fastest swimmer in the deep, but its reflective skin allows it to escape the notice of larger predators.

13. BLACK SWALLOWER

Black Swallowers are more common in the deep waters of tropical and subtropical locations. The Black Swallower looks like a normal sized fish, until we get a peek at the large, protruding stomach it carries underneath it. The distended stomach is not a permanent feature of this fish however, it is another fish entirely! Because Black Swallowers have greatly distensible stomachs, they are able to swallow much bigger fishes entirely whole, bones and all, without using their sharp teeth for much other than latching onto the fish initially (discovery). Black Swallowers have been known to eat fish up to ten times its own mass and over twice its length.

12. VIPERFISH

The large jaws and openly visible jagged teeth on the Viperfish make it look very threatening, although this small fish usually doesn’t grow much bigger than about 12 inches. The long dorsal spine that curves along the spine is tipped with light that it flashes on and off in order to attract smaller fish. Since its fangs are so long that they do not fit in the Viperfish’s mouth, it is believed that they use their sharp teeth to impale their prey before consuming it (science-rumors). The Viperfish come in a few different colors, such as silver, black, or even green.

11. VAMPIRE SQUID

With quite an intimidating name, the Vampire Squid is typically red in color and has eight arms connected by webbing that make it look similar to a cape vampires are usually associated with. Vampire Squids usually inhabit deep oceans in tropical and temperate regions. Unlike many of the other underwater creatures that live deep in the waters, the Vampire Squid has clearly visible eyes, which can be a vibrant red or blue. Similar to other underwater creatures though, the Vampire Squid’s body is covered with light-producing organs. These can be turned on and off at will either to disorient predators or to attract potential prey.

10. FRILLED SHARK

The Frilled Shark looks to be another one of those creatures that seems like it was the result of an experiment that combined two different kinds of animals (nationalgeographic). Although the Frilled Shark looks very similar to other sharks in terms of its facial resemblance and needle sharp teeth, the body tends to be longer and leaner than most other sharks which give it the appearance of being an eel. Typically brown or grey, the Frilled Sharks swims along the seafloor looking to capture prey with a mouth that can open wide enough to swallow creatures half of its size.

9. GULPER EEL

One of the more bizarre looking creatures on this list, the Gulper Eel is distinctive because of its enormously large mouth which hinges open wide enough to swallow creatures much larger than itself. The body of the Gulper Eel is long and lean like most eels, but since it can swallow such large prey, the stomach is able to stretch to significant portions to accommodate digestion (seasky). The Gulper Eel has a very long tail that it uses to move around through the waters, and is tipped by a photophore- a light producing organ that is common in most underwater creatures who live in darkness to attract prey.

8. GHOST SHAR

With distinctively large and gray blue colored eyes, the Ghost Shark can leave quite an impression because of how rarely it is seen by humans. The Ghost Shark lives in darkness and is usually not very large, with an average length of three feet in length (nationalgeographic). Unlike many other sharks, the Ghost Shark doesn't have hundreds of sharp teeth, instead it crushes its small prey using the mineral plates they have instead of teeth. The blue green color of its skin almost make it look translucent as it swims along the ocean floors, which gives it the appearance of gliding along like a ghost.

7. STARGAZER FISH

The Stargazer Fish may not be one of the most colorful creatures on this list, but its dull brown color helps it to blend into the ocean floor more easily where it buries its entire body so completely that only its face and eyes are visible (saltstrong). The Stargazer fish may not look very threatening, especially when so much of it is buried in the sand or mud, but it can be dangerous if disturbed because it not only has two large poison spines on each pectoral fin, these spines are also capable of emitting some pretty strong and disabling electric shocks!

6. JAPANESE GIANT SPIDER CRAB

With the honor of being the only Crab on this list, the Japanese Giant Spider Crab is also the largest known species of crab with an average life expectancy of up to 100 years (national geographic). The Giant Spider Crab is also a master of playing defense; not only are they protected from predators by their armored exoskeletons, their bumpy exterior and color is used as camouflage to blend into the rocky ocean floor and they deliberately pick up sponges and other small animals to adorn its shell and further the illusion that they are a random rock on the ocean floor.

5. BLUE RIMMED OCTOPUS

Although there are certainly much bigger and fearsome looking octopuses in the sea, the blue Rimmed Octopus is distinctive because of its unique, bright coloring that make it stand out among many other underwater creatures. The Blue Rimmed Octopus is quite small and rarely grows larger than about eight inches long, but one of the reasons it is so fearsome is because this little creature is one of the most venomous animals in the ocean, with a bite that can cause intense and quick muscle paralysis (nationalgeographic). Once the Blue Rimmed Octopus has its prey between its teeth, it injects them with venom to easily consume whatever unlucky creature it managed to snatch.

4. FANG TOOTHED FISH

One of the more menacing looking fish on the list, the Fang Toothed Fish is named so because of its incredibly large mouth. The Fang Toothed Fish has such big and sharp teeth that they do not allow it to close its mouth completely which makes it look like it is always hungry and ready for its next meal. The entire fish’s body is covered with small, prickly scales which make it look even less inviting. Thankfully, since the Fang Toothed Fish usually likes to hang out in the deeper ocean waters, most people are in no danger of actually meeting one face to face.

3. BLACK DRAGONFISH

The Black Dragonfish lives up to its fierce name with an even fiercer appearance. Its mouth is permanently ajar so that their numerous sharp teeth are one of the first things we notice. Although Black Dragonfish can produce their own blue/green light similar to many other underwater creatures who live at such dark depths, they also have the powerful advantage of being able to produce light in the infrared range to provide light for themselves that most other creatures are unable to detect. The fish’s long, slender body is covered in light producing photophores which light up on command or when the fish has been threatened (futurism).

2. RED COFFINFISH

In the same family as the Angler Fish and Sea Toads, the Red Coffinfish are typically found hanging out somewhere on the ocean floor. These are some of the few fish that “walk” along the ocean floor due to their leg-like fins. Much like the Angler Fish, the Red Coffinfish that live in darkness also have a lit-luring mechanism on their heads that they use to bring prey close enough to eat (nespmarine.edu.au). Their usual pose is to have one hand on a rock and one hand on the sediment in order to steady themselves against the strong ocean currents.

1. SARCASTIC FRINGEHEAD

Although the Sarcastic Fringeheads may not be the largest or most fearsome looking underwater creature on this list when they keep their mouths closed, they are known for fiercely defending their small territory in a rather unexpected way (oceana.org). The Sarcastic Fringehead likes to live in burrows in the waters of places like California and México and when it perceives that its personal space has been encroached upon, whether on purpose or accidentally does not matter, it will move aggressively and upon its jaws extremely wide in order to bare it’s small, sharp teeth and sink them into anything that is unfortunate enough to have drawn too close.

Scientists warn Earth's magnetic North Pole has begun moving 'erratically' at speeds so fast they are having to issue an emergency update to maps used by electronic navigation systems

Earth's magnetic fields are shifting - and scientists are unsure why.

Researchers say the magnetic North Pole is  'skittering' away from Canada, towards Siberia.

The problem has got so bad, researchers around the world are scrambling to update a global model of the fields.

Called the World Magnetic Model, it underlies all modern navigation, from the systems that steer ships at sea to Google Maps on smartphones.

Researchers say the magnetic North Pole is 'skittering' away from Canada, towards Siberia, far more quickly that they expected it to.

The most recent version of the model came out in 2015, and it was supposed to last until 2020.

However, researchers say the  magnetic field is changing so rapidly that they have to fix the model urgently.  

It was due to be updated on the 15th January, but due to the US Government shutdown, that has already been delayed until the 30th.

'It's moving at about 50 km (30 miles) a year. It didn't move much between 1900 and 1980 but it's really accelerated in the past 40 years,' Ciaran Beggan, of the British Geological Survey in Edinburgh, told Reuters on Friday. 

The magnetic field is in a permanent state of flux. 

Magnetic north wanders, and every few hundred thousand years the polarity flips so that a compass would point south instead of north.  

'The error is increasing all the time,' Arnaud Chulliat, a geomagnetist at the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA's) National Centers for Environmental Information, told Nature. 

'In early 2018, as part of our regular assessment of the WMM, we found that the model exceeded its specification for declination only three years into the five-year WMM cycle,' he told the American Geophysical Union meeting. 

'We investigated this error and tracked it down to the combined effect of a global geomagnetic acceleration pulse occurring in 2015-2016, and a fast-changing magnetic field in the North polar area. 

A remarkable manifestation of the field variation is the drift of the North magnetic pole towards Russia, which has been occurring at the unusually high speed of about 50 km per year since the beginning of the 21st century. 

'On the contrary, the South magnetic pole drift is very slow (less than 10 km per year) and has not changed much over the past few decades, and hence provided a much smaller contribution to the overall model declination error.'

To fix the model, he and his colleagues fed it three years of recent data, which included a 2016 geomagnetic pulse, and he says the new model, when it is released,  should remain accurate until the next regularly scheduled update in 2020.

Satellites such as the European Space Agency's Swarm mission tracked the shift. 

Phil Livermore, a geomagnetist at the University of Leeds, UK, said at the American Geophysical Union meeting 'the location of the north magnetic pole appears to be governed by two large-scale patches of magnetic field, one beneath Canada and one beneath Siberia,' Livermore says. 

'The Siberian patch is winning the competition.' 

WHAT IS THE WORLD MAGNETIC MODEL? 

The charts, known as the World Magnetic Model (WMM), are used to convert between compass measurements of magnetic north and true north and can be found in the navigation systems of ships and airplanes as well as geological applications (such as drilling and mining). 

The WMM is also part of map applications in smartphones, including the Google Maps App.

Researchers from the U.S.'s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) maintain the WMM.

'Although GPS is a great tool for navigation, it is limited in that it only provides your position,' geodetic scientist James Friederich from the U. S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency explained in 2014. 

'Your orientation, the direction you are facing, comes from the magnetic field.'

'Our war fighters use magnetics to orient their maps. 

'Your smartphone camera and various apps can use the magnetic field to help determine the direction you are facing,' he continued. 

'All of these examples need the WMM to provide your proper orientation.'

Scientists in recent years have predicted that Earth's magnetic field could be gearing up to 'flip' – a shift in which the magnetic south pole would become magnetic north, and vice versa.

Such an event could have catastrophic effects, wreaking havoc on the electric grid and leaving life at the surface exposed to higher amounts of solar radiation.

While it's previously been thought that these reversals take place at intervals of hundreds of thousands of years, one recent study suggests it could happen in just a matter of centuries. 

Scientists in recent years have predicted that Earth's magnetic field could be gearing up to 'flip' – a shift in which the magnetic south pole would become magnetic north, and vice versa. Earth's magnetic field is illustrated above

Scientists estimate Earth's North and South magnetic poles flip every 200,000-300,000 years.

But, it's been roughly 780,000 years since the last such event, causing many to suspect we're overdue.

When the magnetic poles flip, Earth's protective magnetic field weakens, leaving its inhabitants at higher risk from the effects of space weather.

WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO EARTH IF ITS POLES FLIPPED?

The Earth’s magnetic field is in a permanent state of change. 

Magnetic north drifts around and every few hundred thousand years the polarity flips so a compass would point south instead of north. 

The strength of the magnetic field also constantly changes and currently it is showing signs of significant weakening. 

Life has existed on the Earth for billions of years, during which there have been many reversals. 

There is no obvious correlation between animal extinctions and those reversals. Likewise, reversal patterns do not have any correlation with human development and evolution.

It appears that some animals, such as whales and some birds use Earth's magnetic field for migration and direction finding.

Since geomagnetic reversal takes a number of thousands of years, they could well adapt to the changing magnetic environment or develop different methods of navigation.

Radiation at ground level would increase, however, with some estimates suggesting that overall exposure to cosmic radiation would double causing more deaths from cancer. ‘But only slightly,’ said Professor Richard Holme.

‘And much less than lying on the beach in Florida for a day. So if it happened, the protection method would probably be to wear a big floppy hat.’

Electric grid collapse from severe solar storms is a major risk. As the magnetic field continues to weaken, scientists are highlighting the importance off-the grid energy systems using renewable energy sources to protect the Earth against a black out. 

'The very highly charged particles can have a deleterious effect on the satellites and astronauts,' added Dr Mona Kessel, a Magnetosphere discipline scientist at Nasa.

In one area, there is evidence that a flip is already occurring. ‘The increasing strength of the South Atlantic anomaly, an area of weak field over Brazil, is already a problem,’ said Professor Richard Holme. 

The Earth's climate could also change. A recent Danish study has found that the earth's weather has been significantly affected by the planet's magnetic field.

They claimed that fluctuations in the number of cosmic rays hitting the atmosphere directly alter the amount of cloud covering the planet.

Henrik Svensmark, a weather scientist at the Danish National Space Centre who led the team behind the research, believes that the planet is experiencing a natural period of low cloud cover due to fewer cosmic rays entering the atmosphere.

'Earth's magnetic field, which has existed for at least 3.45 billion years, provides a shield from the direct impact of solar radiation,' said Professor Roberts from the ANU Research School of Earth Sciences.

'Even with Earth's strong magnetic field today, we're still susceptible to solar storms that can damage our electricity-based society.'

In the new study, researchers at the Australian National University analyzed the paleomagnetic record from 107,000 to 91,000 years ago by analyzing a stalagmite from a cave in southwestern China.

The team conducted magnetic analysis and radiometric dating on the meter-long sample, revealing the behaviour of the ancient magnetic field.

And, they found the magnetic field experienced a rapid shift over the span of about two centuries, decreasing in strength by about 90 percent when a field reversal occurred.

The damage to power grids and communications systems resulting from such a flip in today's society would cause trillions of dollars in damage, the researchers explain.

'Hopefully such an event is a long way in the future and we can develop future technologies to avoid huge damage, where possible, from such events,' Professor Roberts said.

The study suggests Earth's magnetic field is a lot more unpredictable than suspected, the researchers say.

'The record provides important insights into ancient magnetic field behaviour,' Professor Roberts said, 'which has turned out to vary much more rapidly than previously thought.'

The city of Lewisburg, Tennessee lies just under an hour away from the southern cultural mecca of Nashville. Lewisburg resident Patsy Wright’s family has lived in the city for over 100 years on a piece of rural property which enjoys a sizable pond. Last week, Wright was walking her dog around the property on her way to the pond when she came across a surprising sight:

I walked down here with my dog and sure as the world, no water! It was gone!

Wright says this is the first time she’s known the pond to be empty in the century her family has lived at the property. Drone footage captured at the scene shows a fairly large hole lying on the completely dry bottom of the tiny pond. The hole appears to be a few feet deep and full of muddy water.

Lakes and ponds have been known to mysteriously disappear into sinkholes from time to time.

While ponds or other small bodies of water draining into underground sinkholes or unexplored subterranean rivers is nothing new, Patsy Wright is adamant that a larger mystery is afoot. Wright told local news station WSMV that just before she discovered her pond was empty, she saw an unidentified object fall from the sky and crash into its waters:

When I seen them waves go up like it did?! And then they come back down. And I heard the splash. I mean it was a big splash. I know something hit it, because I heard it. I thought, I’m not imagining nothing. It’s there.

A report has been filed with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and Wright plans on contacting the Environmental Protection Agency to see if the case is worthy of their investigation. Last year, a series of mysterious booms rocked the skies just a few hours to the east – mysterious booms which remain unexplained. Could this pond’s disappearance be related?

Did a meteorite or piece of space debris fall to Earth and drain Patsy Wright’s pond? Weird things do seem to be falling from or exploding in the sky at a high frequency lately. Perhaps it was another megacryometeor? Until this one is investigated – if it ever is – it will likely remain a mystery.

Break out the cigars! Open the Gender Reveal box! Start saving for college! For the first time in history, astronomers have witnessed the birth of a black hole. As befitting of such a monumental event, they’ve named the baby black star “The Cow.” Wait … what?

“We thought it must be a supernova. But what we observed challenged our current notions of stellar death. We knew right away that this source went from inactive to peak luminosity within just a few days. That was enough to get everybody excited because it was so unusual and, by astronomical standards, it was very close by.”

According to the press release, what a team led by Northwestern University astrophysicist and assistant professor of physics and astronomy Raffaella Margutti saw was AT2018cow (‘cow’ letters generated randomly, hence the inappropriate nickname), an anomaly that flared up in the Hercules constellation in the galaxy CGCG 137-068 on June 17, 2018 … and then disappeared just 16 days later. “Flare” doesn’t do justice to this event – it was up to 100 times brighter than a typical supernova and blew out particles at 30,000 km per second (1/10th the speed of light). The event was made more exciting by its close proximity – just 200 million light years away. But Margutti and her team weren’t sure what they saw.

I see it!

That’s when luck entered the picture. The team switched from the ATLAS survey’s twin telescopes (the AT part of the name) to NASA’s Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) and INTEGRAL hard X-ray laboratories, soft X-rays at XMM-Newton and radio antennae at the Very Large Array. All of that astronomy horsepower benefited from the fact that The Cow had much less stellar debris floating around it that similar explosions, allowing them to see clearly into its center and identify evidence of hydrogen and helium – all the signs of a baby black hole. That’s when the champagne was uncorked.

“We think that ‘The Cow’ is the formation of an accreting black hole or neutron star. We know from theory that black holes and neutron stars form when a star dies, but we’ve never seen them right after they are born. Never.”

Margutti held the baby black hole reveal party (aka announcement) at the 233rd Meeting of the American Astronomical in Seattle this week and the research will be published shortly in the Astrophysical Journal. (Pictures of The Cow can be seen here.) Is this a big deal? We in the U.S. have just seen the adulation heaped upon a college freshman for quarterbacking his team to the national championship. Freshman studying science rather than football defenses don’t normally get that kind of attention or excitement. First-year Northwestern undergraduate student Daniel Brethauer did as part of the team.

On September 19, 1961, a New Hampshire husband and wife, Betty and Barney Hill, were driving to their New Hampshire home, after taking a welcome vacation in Montreal, Canada. We might argue they needed another vacation after experiencing what was lurking and looming on the horizon. As the pair headed home, and at around 10.30 p.m., as they drove south of Lancaster, New Hampshire, they were puzzled by the sight of a strange light in the night sky above. Viewing the lighted object through binoculars convinced the Hills that what they were seeing was not an aircraft – of either a commercial or military kind. As they continued their drive through the mountains, Barney and Betty developed an uneasy sense that whoever was flying the craft was specifically watching them; playing a game with them, toying with them, and practically goading them into following the maneuvers of the mysterious vehicle.

Matters came to a sudden hair-raising head when the object approached their car and dropped to a height of around ninety feet, causing a terrified Barney to bring the car to a sudden stop, in the middle of the road, on the darkened, mountain pass. Pancake-like was how Barney later described the unearthly-looking vehicle, after stepping out of the car and staring into the dark skies. As Barney focused on the craft with the binoculars, he couldn’t fail to see close to a dozen beings – wearing caps – milling around and peering down at the now deeply frightened pair. When the machine began to close in on the Hill’s car, Barney shouted to Betty that the things inside were going to kidnap them. They jumped back into the car at sped off at high speed – which is hardly surprising. Craft and crew did not follow – or so it seemed at the time.

The traumatic encounter was far from over: it didn’t take long at all before Betty and Barney realized that there was something very wrong about their journey – around two hours of time was missing from it. Gone. Obliterated from their memories. Finally, after nightmares, restless nights of tossing and turning, and picking up on fragmented memories suggesting there was far more to the incident than they consciously remembered, the pair received help from a psychiatrist and neurologist in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Benjamin Simon – who began a series of hypnotic sessions with the Hills in January 1964.

What surfaced out of those sessions, while Barney and Betty were rendered into altered states by the doctor, was, to put it bluntly, astounding: if the results of the hypnosis were not the product of fantasy or suggestion, both of the Hills had been taken on board what was nothing less than an alien spacecraft, and subjected to a number of medical procedures that clearly left Betty and Barney in states of lasting turmoil. One of those procedures – specifically performed on Betty – gave an indication that human reproduction somehow played a role in the matter.

The story is a remarkable one, and one that is comprised of Betty and Barney’s own memories that flooded back into their mind during distressing dreams, and data that surfaced during the hypnosis sessions with Dr. Simon. According to Betty, while under the control and sway of the strange creatures that stood before her on the craft, she experienced something deeply traumatic: laid out flat on something similar to an operating table, Betty – to her horror – witnessed one of the entities inserting a needle-like device into her navel, after informing her he was going to check if she was pregnant.  In addition, Betty said the alien performing the procedure assured her that the test would be very helpful – but in what way, and why, exactly, was not explained. Nor was it explained who the procedure would be helpful for: Betty or the ETs. One suspects the latter.

According to Betty, the needle was somewhere between four and six inches in length and had a tube attached to it. Far from feeling like the slight discomfort associated with a regular, medical needle, however, Betty said that the pain – as it was inserted – was more along the lines of what she thought it would feel like to have the blade of a knife plunged into her.  In other words, it was excruciating. Both the entity carrying out the task, and an additional one that was perceived by the Hills as the leader, reacted in a surprised and concerned fashion – to the extent that the creature overseeing the situation waved his hand across Betty’s eyes, something which immediately removed all of the agony. At least, that was the scenario in Betty’s dreams.

Under hypnosis, however, the story was that the pain did not go away: Betty was still in pain and deeply stressed. This is highly suggestive of the probability that her subconscious state had attempted to place a more positive, and far less traumatic, slant on the experience – but one that the hypnosis sessions demonstrated was far worse than her mind was trying to telling her. In fact, such was the stressful, pain-filled, and fear-dominated state that Betty was in, Dr. Simon took the immediate step of bringing the hypnotic session to a rapid halt. This particular aspect of the Hill affair brings us to the matter of something called amniocentesis.

When a woman becomes pregnant, the developing fetus is enveloped in what is termed amniotic fluid. It is a liquid that is very much like water, and from a study of which a great deal can be ascertained about the health and development of the fetus. Alpha-fetoprotein and developing skin cells are two of the main things that the Amniocentesis procedure focuses on, as it seeks to confirm the condition of the fetus. During the process, a needle is inserted into the mother’s uterus, via her abdomen, usually between fifteen and eighteen weeks into pregnancy. Since the procedure can at times be a tricky one, it is constantly overseen via ultrasound scanning. The goal is to use the needle to secure a small amount of amniotic fluid, which can then be studied and analyzed.

Typically, the procedure is performed for genetic reasons, such as to determine if the developing baby may have Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis, or Down syndrome. It’s a procedure which is very often undertaken on women in their mid-thirties or older (and who have a markedly higher chance of developing chromosomal disorders), and those who have given birth to a previous child with either physical or mental disorders. It may not be a coincidence that when Betty was subjected to that curious procedure, she was already in her early forties. It must be said that there is one notable difference between amniocentesis and the procedure that Betty Hill experienced. Namely, that the needle inserted into Betty went via her navel. In amniocentesis, it’s via the abdomen and then into the uterus. Nevertheless, it’s still intriguing that Betty’s aliens informed her that the needle-inserting procedure was linked with determining if she was pregnant.

Those doubtful of Betty’s account might take note of the fact that in 1930, the team of Leland E. Holly, Thomas Orville Menees, and J. Duane Miller, performed an amniocentesis procedure on a pregnant woman. In this case, it involved injecting dye into the amniotic sac, specifically to study the placenta and the fetus. Could Betty have heard of, or read about, these early, pre-1960s era examples of amniocentesis? Certainly, it’s not impossible. In addition, in 1960, only one year before the encounter of the Hills, and for the very first time, amniocentesis was used to identify hemophilia-related issues relative to mother and fetus. It was a development reported on, at the time – albeit primarily in the pages of in-house medical journals. If Betty did have an awareness of what amniocentesis is, it’s not impossible that buried memories of reading about it had a bearing on both her dream-based and hypnotic recollections. But, on the other hand, why would Betty say the needle was inserted into her navel, if she knew that amniocentesis was a technique that was focused only on the abdomen and the uterus?

In some respects, what Betty told of sounds far more like a laparoscopy, in which a small insertion can be made into the belly and a lighted tube is inserted to allow for an examination of the pelvic organs to be undertaken. So, given that the pelvic organs include the uterus, the Fallopian tubes, the vagina, and the ovaries, a case can still be made – to a degree – that the procedure performed on Betty was of a gynecological nature, even if it wasn’t a case of amniocentesis.

There May Be Creatures on This Planet More Intelligent Than Humans, Study Says

It has long been known that humans are very intelligent, often thought of as the most intelligent. However, could there be something far more intelligent that blows us humans out of the water? Quite a lot of people think the answer to that question is yes. What is it though?

What is more intelligent than humans?

A study from last year (2018) suggests that Dolphins are highly intelligent creatures, so much so that they may surpass human intelligence in some respects. One of those ways being self-awareness. The study used was a mirror-self recognition (MSR) test which basically consists of presenting a mirror to the test subject and seeing how long it takes them or it to recognize themselves.

When presented with a mirror, human infants aren’t usually able to recognize themselves until they are around 12 months old. Bottlenose dolphins, on the other hand, are able to recognize themselves at just seven months old. The experiment was done on both male and female dolphins to get a range of results.

They are capable of far more than anyone had ever realized. They are even able to create personalized whistles which can be seen as their equivalent of names for different members of their pod. They can solve problems as well as communicate with each other with no difficulty whatsoever. Some people actually believe we should treat them as people in a sense because of their high intellect.

What did the report say?

Here is a small extract from the report on the dolphins;

We exposed two young bottlenose dolphins to an underwater mirror and analyzed video recordings of their behavioral responses over a 3-year period. Here we report that both dolphins exhibited MSR, indicated by self-directed behavior at the mirror, at ages earlier than generally reported for children and at ages much earlier than reported for chimpanzees. The early onset of MSR in young dolphins occurs in parallel with their advanced sensorimotor development, complex and reciprocal social interactions, and growing social awareness. Both dolphins passed subsequent mark tests at ages comparable with children. Thus, our findings indicate that dolphins exhibit self-awareness at a mirror at a younger age than previously reported for children or other species tested.

Dolphins have both been here longer than us, and have much larger brains than us. We can learn a lot from these animals whether we seem them as our equals or not. California UFO Releases A Fleet Of UFOs 

There's something happening in the skies of California in the US because recently there's been a spike in UFO activity and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Because this Mothership (if you like) is releasing all these Orbs is this where other Orb UFO sightings originated, at this particular one?

This is a great example of a UFO releasing orbs or drones all of which are still UFOs in their own right because we just don't know what they are and they're flying around skies that are supposedly protected or at least monitored?

Two balls of light come out briefly from the main UFO - before being sucked back in to the main UFO and then it bursts out the Orbs as if it's firing them out in a specific distance?

They must be seeing something on their screens and if the reason they're doing nothing is because they don't have resources then that's terrible. Or are they been directed to do nothing? It makes me wonder...

Anyways apparently it's being investigated by Ufos Magazine and hopefully they will share their results straight away? I know they'll share the results but I just hope it's sooner rather than later?

It looks real, it feels real and if it is real then that would make this yet another Mothership (yes it's a Mothership) and there's other Motherships over the USA as we've posted only recently about other ones deploying what appears to be metallic UFOs which can be seen here?

Many times the public have caught some very striking footage of UFOs flying past extremely fast or from a plane in the clouds etc but for a UFO to be filmed actually releasing what looks like Orbs or metallic drones then that must send chills through the government if they know that these are real (they know some things that we don't) and to be privy to top secret information and then see it on film, well it must be weird?


What's going on, especially since President Trump announced this Space Force? Has this been the main reason why we're seeing more UFOs over the US?

Will we ever get to know the truth, I believe when the investigation is over we might be closer to the overall truth?

Mysterious 'Cow' Blast in Space May Reveal Birth of a Black Hole

So, researchers around the world soon trained a variety of telescopes on the puzzling light source. For example, Margutti's team studied The Cow in X-ray wavelengths using NASA's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) and the European Space Agency's International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory (INTEGRAL) and XMM-Newton spacecraft; in radio waves using the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's Very Large Array (VLA); and in optical light using the MMT Observatory in Arizona and the Southern Astrophysical Research (SOAR) telescope in Chile.

The scientists also probed The Cow's shape and chemical makeup using instruments installed on the two big telescopes at the Keck Observatory in Hawaii.

This latter work revealed the presence of hydrogen and helium, ruling out Cow scenarios involving dramatic mergers between black holes and neutron stars, the researchers said. So, the light was probably largely generated by the newborn object gobbling up debris from its shattered progenitor.

"It took a while for us to realize what we were looking at — I would say months," said co-author Brian Metzger, associate professor of physics at Columbia University in New York. "We tried several possibilities and were forced to go back to the drawing board multiple times. We were finally able to interpret the results, thanks to the hard work of our incredibly dedicated team."

The new study will appear in The Astrophysical Journal. The team also announced its results today (Jan. 10) during a news conference at the 233rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) in Seattle — and they were not alone. 

Several other research groups presented their Cow findings at the briefing as well, and not all of them agreed with the interpretation laid out above. For example, a team led by Paul Kuin, an astrophysicist at University College London, backs the black-hole-eating-white-dwarf hypothesis. 

So, there's still a lot of mystery surrounding this odd light source.

Far Side of the Moon Captured in Panoramic Photos for First Time in History

The “dark side” of the Moon didn’t get its nickname because it never sees light. Rather, it’s that Earth never sees it. But our lack of visibility changed last week when the Chinese lander Chang’e-4 became the first spacecraft to touch down on the side of the Moon that faces away from our planet. Now Earthlings are the recipients of a consistent stream of unprecedented images sent from the far side, the newest of which was released Friday by officials at the Chinese Lunar Exploration Project (CELP).

CELP, which is overseen by the China National Space Administration, released two stunning images on the Chinese Twitter-like microblogging website Sina Weibo. A topographical camera on the Change’4 lander captured the “ring shot” and the panoramic shot, an incredibly detailed conglomerate of 80 individual photographs.

The huge panoramic shot, broken down in the slideshow below, shows the perspective of the lander. You can see the rover, nicknamed Jade Rabbit 2 (or Yutu-2), exploring the lunar terrain.

According to the Weibo post, the researchers have completed the preliminary analysis of the lunar surface topography seen here around the landing site. Getting these photographs from the far side of the moon to Earth wasn’t easy: The images first had to be sent from the lander to the relay communication satellite Queqia (which translates to “Magpie Bridge”), which in turn sent it to Earth.

As the Jade Rabbit 2 continues its journey, it will measure the chemical composition of the regolith, study cosmic rays, and observe the solar corona. The team behind the mission also hopes that observations of the Moon’s far side will reveal insight about the early days of the solar system. It’s a fresh step in moon science — and we can watch it from the comforts of Earth.

Ook vroegen onderzoekers zich af hoe de inwoners op zo’n afgelegen eiland overleefden met schaarse middelen. Zo was het een raadsel waar de inwoners, de Rapa Nui, hun drinkwater haalden. Voor die twee mysteries lijken wetenschappers nu een verklaring te hebben.

Volgens een nieuwe studie die gepubliceerd werd in het wetenschappelijk tijdschrift Plos One, werden de monolieten geplaatst om de weg naar drinkbaar water in de buurt van kustgebieden aan te wijzen.

Brak water

Een team wetenschappers onderzocht de locaties van 93 ahu’s en koppelde die aan drie factoren die de onderlinge strijd tussen nederzettingen bepaalden: landbouw, visgronden en de aanwezigheid van zoetwater. Men kwam tot de vaststelling dat de ahu’s overeen kwamen met locaties waar water naar beneden sijpelde en vervolgens de oceaan bereikte, meer bepaald plaatsen waar poreuze rotsen de oceaan ontmoeten.

Bij laagtij ontstond er vervolgens een zoetwaterstroom in de zee. Het zilte water zou drinkbaar geweest zijn en werd opgevangen door de Rapa Nui. Onderzoek van historische bronnen van Europese toonde immers aan dat de bevolking “grotendeels afhankelijk was van brak water en vrij veel uit de Stille Oceaan dronk”. De beelden zijn dus gepositioneerd op plekken waar zoet water te vinden is.

“Geen rituele plaatsen”

“Wat belangrijk is, is dat het onderzoek laat zien dat de locaties van de beelden geen rituele plaatsen zijn, maar geïntegreerd in het leven van de gemeenschappen”, aldus Carl Lipo, professor antropologie aan de universiteit van Binghamton.

“Op plaatsen waar enorme hoeveelheden zoet water te vinden was, zien we gigantische beelden”, zei Lipo ook nog. Daarmee willen de auteurs van het onderzoek ook suggereren ook dat de grootte van de moai-beelden en ahu de hoeveelheid en de kwaliteit van het water op de locatie aangeven.

Begin dit jaar landde er voor het eerst in de geschiedenis een onbemande Chinese ruimtesonde op “the dark side of the moon”, meer dan vijftig jaar na de eerste maanlanding. 

Chang’e 4 landde op 3 januari in een gigantische inslagkrater aan de zuidpool, met als gevolg een historische landing en een grote technologische doorbraak. Minuten na de landing stuurde de sonde de eerste beelden naar de aarde. Die revolutionaire beelden tonen voor het eerst de structuur van de achterkant van het maanoppervlak.

Transmissiesatelliet

Chinese experten bestempelden de missie vooraf als zeer veeleisend. De grote moeilijkheid was onder meer de communicatie met de aarde, omdat vanop de achterkant van de maan geen rechtstreekse radioverbinding mogelijk is. 

Daarom brachten de Chinezen al in mei de transmissiesatelliet Queqiao (‘Eksterbrug’) in stelling, om signalen uit de radioschaduw door te kunnen sturen. De 360° beelden werden teruggestuurd via dezelfde satelliet, die opereerde op ongeveer 455.000 kilometer van de aarde, waar het zowel de aarde als de verste kant van de maan kan zien.

China noemt zijn missie naar de achterzijde van de Maan een “compleet succes”, zo heeft het staatspersbureau Xinhua vandaag gemeld. De maanmissie moet bewijzen dat China’s ambitieuze ruimtevaartprogramma grote vooruitgang boekt. Een nieuw ruimtestation is een andere belangrijke pijler van dat programma. Onderzoekers gaan alvast nu met de beelden aan de slag om het grondoppervlak grondig te kunnen analyseren en meer achtergrondinformatie te vergaren om zo’n station te kunnen bouwen.

De magnetische noordpool schuift al langer op van Canada richting Siberië en vorig jaar is hij de datumgrens overgestoken naar de oostelijke hemisfeer. De precieze beweging is niet voorspelbaar en fascineert wetenschappers al sinds de pool voor het eerst gelokaliseerd werd onder Canada, in 1831. In het midden van de jaren 90 van vorige eeuw begon hij opeens sneller te gaan en ging hij van 15 kilometer per jaar naar 55. Tegen 2001 zat hij al daardoor al onder de Noordelijke IJszee.

Normaal gezien zou het ‘World Magnetic Model’ – dat een beschrijving geeft van het magnetisch veld van de aarde en waarop alle moderne navigatietoestellen gebaseerd zijn – in 2020 een update krijgen, vijf jaar na de vorige. Maar het magnetisch veld verandert zó snel dat er een tussentijdse update moet worden gemaakt. Die stond oorspronkelijk gepland voor 15 januari, maar werd door de shutdown in de Verenigde Staten intussen uitgesteld naar 30 januari.

De vorige update in 2015 was onder een slecht gesternte begonnen. Want een jaar later vond een geomagnetische schok plaats diep onder Zuid-Amerika, waardoor het magnetisch veld al meteen aanzienlijk verschoof. Dat werd nog versterkt door de steeds snellere verschuiving van de magnetische noordpool. Begin vorig jaar kwam het ‘World Magnetic Model’ daardoor in de problemen. Het was zo onnauwkeurig geworden dat er een dringende update nodig was. (lees hieronder verder)

Intussen proberen wetenschappers te achterhalen waarom het magnetisch veld zo drastisch verandert en er zijn verscheidene mogelijke verklaringen. Geomagnetische schokken zoals in 2016 kunnen bijvoorbeeld het gevolg zijn van hydromagnetische golven vanuit het binnenste van onze aarde. En het snel verschuiven van de magnetische noordpool kan gelinkt worden aan een snelle uitbarsting van vloeibaar metaal onder Canada. Die uitbarsting loopt uit en verzwakt het magnetische veld onder Canada, waardoor de pool opschuift naar Siberië.

Voorbode

Sommige wetenschappers zien er echter een voorbode in van het omkeren van de magnetische polen van de aarde. Daardoor zou de magnetische noordpool de magnetische zuidpool worden en omgekeerd. Dat kan verregaande gevolgen hebben, onder meer voor het stroomnet en voor onze communicatiesystemen. Het zou ook het leven aan de aardoppervlakte blootstellen aan hogere dosissen straling van de zon en de ruimte doordat ons magnetisch veld erdoor verzwakt.

Dat omkeren is iets dat normaal gezien om de 200.000 tot 300.000 jaar gebeurt. De recentste ommekeer dateert echter al van 780.000 jaar geleden, waardoor sommige wetenschappers denken dat het niet lang meer zal duren eer er een nieuwe aankomt. 

Hoe snel de ommekeer exact gaat? De wetenschap krijgt het voorlopig niet preciezer dan “in een paar duizend jaar”, maar de gevolgen zijn wel de hele tijd te voelen. “Er wordt algemeen aanvaard dat tijdens de ommekeer het magnetische veld verzwakt tot 10 procent van zijn volledige potentieel”, aldus Brad Clement van de Florida International University. “Als het verzwakt is, draaien de polen ongeveer 180 graden, waarna het magnetische veld weer sterker wordt in de omgekeerde richting. En dat kan dus duizenden jaren duren.”
