• On October 22nd the UFO documentary Witness of Another World, premiered on Vimeo and Amazon Prime.  (see 1:50 minute trailer below)  Directed by Alan Stivelman, the film is distributed by 1091 Media, formerly the Orchard, which has an established line-up of documentaries that focus on the paranormal and ufological.
• The writer, MJ Banias, likes this movie because it focuses on “the people at the center of the frenzy, and the trauma they experience.” He says it is “the best documentary on the subject that I have ever seen.”
• Stivelman set out to make a different UFO documentary. But the film ended up being an allegory about the deleterious effect that a famous UFO sighting in South America in 1978 had on young boy named Juan Pérez. As the documentary shows, it marked him for the rest of his life and ruined Pérez’s life. Stivelman’s Witness of Another World is successful because it really isn’t about UFOs, but about the people who have alleged encounters with them.
• What the film portrays is a man who is living alone, emotionally and socially removed from his peers and family, still haunted by his alien encounter and wondering “why he had to have lived through that.” Watching Pérez break down on camera is one of the film’s most powerful moments. Says Stivelman, “It’s deep, emotional, and filmed in a way that fully encompasses what the abduction experience must’ve felt like. The film’s also shot more like a feature than a documentary with beautiful reenactments. This really set the title apart from the rest in the genre…” said Jim Martin, Vice President of Paranormal Content for 1091 Media.
• The film also features Jacques Vallée who interviewed Pérez when he was a boy, and has since held a firm conviction that the young gaucho had an encounter with a non-human intelligence. But since the film is about Pérez’s experience, it still works even if you don’t believe the UFO premise. Stivelman says that the audience is left “to draw their own conclusions.”

Editor’s Note -  MJ Banias is right where the Deep State wants mainstream media journalists to be – admitting that there is too much evidence to deny the existence UFOs but not willing to admit to the bigger picture, i.e.: that UFOs are integral to the extraterrestrial presence. For the past seventy years, the Deep State has been actively denying and covering up the true existence of ET-controlled UFOs and our secret space program which interacts with these beings, and instilling this falsehood as ‘rational’. Apparently, Banias has been guzzling the Deep State’s rhetorical kool aid for so long that he is brainwashed, along with the majority of the public.

Banias starts this article by stating: “I have seen a lot of UFO documentaries, and after a while, they start to get boring. They tend to tell the same old stories, or promote some snake-oil-selling UFO “expert.” Then Banias says, “UFO documentaries usually make the same mistake: they try to “prove” that UFOs are real, or that they are alien, or interdimensional, or paranormal, or something else. They all inevitably fail.” Here Banias reveals his bias against UFO researchers whom he compares to “snake-oil salesmen”.

Banias says that the movie is saved because it doesn’t focus on the silly notion of UFOs, but the people who’s lives are negatively affected because they believed in UFOs. The UFO, says Banias, is “really just a MacGuffin”, or a plot device, and the viewer isn’t required to believe any of it. The moral here is that believing in UFOs will end up ruining your life.

Not two weeks after this article was published, Banias again displayed his Deep State mindset in an October 29th Vice article titled: “QAnon and UFO Conspiracies Are Merging” in which he casts aspersions against UFO researchers such as Jordan Sather, Michael Salla and Steven Greer. In this more recent article, Banias attacks the government insider group known as ‘QAnon’ for spreading ‘disinformation’ that the Deep State is hiding the UFO/extraterrestrial presence from the public. Banias belittles both the “UFO conspiracy” and the “QAnon conspiracy”, branding their common link as “particularly dangerous”.

Banias says, “[Q] is beginning to find an audience among UFO hunters and people who believe the government is hiding aliens.” He touts the Deep State position that UFO and aliens are a figment of the imagination, that there is no such thing as a “secret space program”, and that the US government is innocent of any cover-up to prevent UFO/ET “Disclosure”.

According to Banias, it isn’t the Deep State government that has been using the media to mind-control the public into ridiculing and rejecting the UFO/ET reality, but it is this conspiracy movement itself that is “sewing discord and mistrust in established institutions, such as the government or military, [as] a known tool of psychological warfare and social engineering. Conspiracies, conspiracy theorists and those individuals who promote them can be far from harmless,” says Banias.

And then, incredibly, Banias employs yet another notorious Deep State tactic in its mind-control playbook by the triggering the public’s fear that the Russians are behind QAnon in order to “generate mistrust within [an American] populace”.

In rebuttal to Banias’ outrageous accusations, Jordan Sather responded to Banias’ article in an episode of Sather’s ‘Destroying the Illusion” YouTube channel (see 44:35 minute video below). Likewise, Dr Michael Salla posted a scathing article on ExoPolitics.org and ExoNews.org (see Salla’s article here) pointing out that QAnon has revealed how compromised “journalists” are compensated for following the “talking points” that the Deep State sends to journalist’s private email accounts at 4 am each morning to control their “news commentary”. Dr Salla also points out that the UK intelligence community, as well as the other “Five Eyes” nations’ intelligence agencies, regularly targets and destroys the reputation of anyone contesting the Deep State’s talking points. Indeed, this has been a Deep State policy since the CIA/Robertson Panel’s “Durant Report” in 1953, recommending that the mass media ‘evoke a strong psychological reaction’ by debunking so-called “flying saucers”.

As Dr Salla puts it, “Banias is merely providing a new twist to the decades-long psychological warfare policy of discrediting UFO researchers and reports.” These two recent articles by MJ Banias, both published on the Vice.com website, “suggests he is either simply naïve or has begun receiving 4 am talking points”.

I have seen a lot of UFO documentaries, and after a while, they start to get boring. They tend to tell the same old stories, or promote some snake-oil-selling UFO “expert.” Perhaps the biggest issue I take with UFO documentaries is that they never focus on what actually matters: the people at the center of the frenzy, and the trauma they experience.

By this measure, Alan Stivelman’s film Witness of Another World is the best documentary on the subject that I have ever seen.
Witness of Another World tells the story of Juan Pérez, a lonely gaucho who, as a young boy, allegedly had an encounter with an anomalous aerial vehicle and the strange entities inside. In the 1970s, this incident made headline news in South America and, as the documentary shows, very much ruined Pérez’s life. The film dives into Pérez’s life 40 years later. Living alone, Pérez is still haunted by his alleged encounter.

“In the beginning, I proposed to make this film in order to decode the mystery behind the UFO phenomenon,” said Stivelman. “This mission was overshadowed by the acute sadness that Juan brought with him and the desire to understand why he had to have lived through that supernatural experience that marked him for the rest of his life.”

UFO documentaries usually make the same mistake: they try to “prove” that UFOs are real, or that they are alien, or interdimensional, or paranormal, or something else. They all inevitably fail. Stivelman’s Witness of Another World is successful because it really isn’t about UFOs, but about the people who have alleged encounters with them.

Yes, it is a movie about an alleged UFO encounter from 1978, but the UFO is really just a MacGuffin. Pérez is the real story here, and the conflicts he has with other people are really what the film is about. Watching Pérez break down on camera is one of the film’s most powerful moments. It is jarring and painful—a close up shot of his face, lined with wrinkles that don’t seem to match his boyish bravado in the previous scenes.

It was there, as a filmmaker, that I had to make a crucial decision for the rest of the shooting. To continue with the investigation of the UFO phenomenon, to stay only in the phenomenological aspect, or to attend to Juan, to his suffering, and to look for a way to help him,” Stivelman said.

The film is distributed by 1091 Media, formerly the Orchard, which has an established line-up of documentaries that focus on the paranormal and Ufological.

“This film does not attempt to reveal the UFO mystery but to lead the audience by the hand to walk beside it, to perceive it with their own consciousness and to draw their own conclusions,” Stivelman explained.

The fundamental reason as to why the film works is that you don’t need to believe any of it. No one can truly confirm Pérez’s story. What the film portrays is a man clearly hurt by a traumatic event, who is emotionally and socially removed from his peers and family, simply because he nor they can cope. It shines a light into trauma itself.

UFOs aside, the audience watches a man search, not for validation, but for healing. It is a very human story.

One of the more famous UFO videos just got another 15 minutes of fame courtesy of new technology and that plus all of the attention being given to the Navy UFO videos warrants giving this one another look.

In 2009, Haktan Akdogan, a leading Turkish UFO researchers and founder of the Sirius UFO Space Science Studies Centre, made that observation about a video taken in 2007 by Yalcin Yalman, a night security guard with time on his hands and a video camera in them. In August 2007, May 2008 and September 2008, Yalman recorded crescent-shaped UFOs which appeared over the Marmara Sea near the resort village of Kumburgaz. Marmara is an inland sea connecting the Black Sea to the Aegean Sea. According to media reports from 2007-2009, the 1990s and 2000s were a time of many UFO sightings in Turkey – hence the need for the Sirius UFO center.

“These are the most remarkable images taken in Turkish history. The authorities can no longer turn a blind eye to this phenomenon.”

Why did Haktan Akdogan feel so strongly about Yalcin Yalman’s videos of UFOs? For one, the camera he used (yes, a camera, not a smart phone – sometimes old tech is better) had a powerful lens that allowed him to zoom in tight and see what looked like a window on the front of the craft and what appear to be heads peering out. Unfortunately, that powerful zoom meant the video was affected by the most minute hand movements, making it quite shaky. (See many videos and images here.)

Enter the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena YouTube channel. Recently, its unidentified owners used modern software to stabilize the Kumburgaz video and posted the results on YouTube. The new-and-improved segment (shown on the Russian site yaplakal.com and others) showing the ‘heads’ in the ‘window’, while still blurry, showed more detail of the heads and eyes and they seemed to have the shape which causes wild-haired paranormal television hosts to exclaim, “Aliens!”

Over the years since the Kumburgaz videos first appeared, attempts have been made to verify them or debunk them. A detailed analysis was done by the National UFO Center in the US and it could not debunk the video but instead offered pictures to show a resemblance between the heads and insects – insectoids? On the other hand, one of the more interesting theories (by Metabunk and tothers) is that Yalman was looking at lights from the deck or upper floor of a passing cruise ship – common in the Marmara Sea – which was distorted by darkness, distance, mist and camera quality. This theory has been the one most debunkers use.

In 2009, Yalcin Yalman believed he saw aliens. He still believes it today and posts more UFO sightings on his own YouTube channel. Comments on the new stabilized video cover the full range from supportive belief to derogatory skepticism. One thing the stabilization has done is pull this interesting story into 2019 for another look.

It’s too bad there were no Turkish Navy ship in the Marmara at the time, or pilots scanning the skies with their radar.

Navy pilot who chased USS Nimitz UFO says there are tapes of encounter 'missing'

One of the first US Navy pilots to have encountered the famed tic-tac UFO off the coast of San Diego has said there are tapes “missing”.

Commander David Fravor was flying one of the two F/A-18E/F Super Hornets that had taken off from the USS Nimitz, during a combat exercise on November 14, 2004.

They were directed to change course and investigate an unidentified object spotted on another carrier’s, the USS Princeton, radar.

To their amazement, the two fighter jets saw a tic-tac shaped object flying at incredible speeds above a mysterious turbulent area of water below.

When they returned to the USS Nimitz, a second team was sent out to investigate and again saw the object – and this time it was all caught on camera.

The footage was made famous by a 2017 New York Times article, but Fravor has since suggested there may be more information out there.

He appeared on The Fighter Pilot Podcast earlier this year to recount his experience, where he made an interesting revelation.

“All the radar tapes from the Princeton are missing and they can’t find,” Fravor told host and former US Navy pilot Vincent Aiello.

“I was chatting to someone at the archives and they’ve said someone has taken that page from the logbook.”

He then explained that, soon after returning from their encounter, he made copies of the tapes which also disappeared.

“We copied the tapes and wrapped them up and stuff them in the space,” Fravor added.

“They were put in a safe on the Princeton and they stayed there.

“We came back from a cruise and they were there.

“But then, somehow, they disappeared – no one knows where they went.

The news comes just days after another witness of the encounter suggested there was clearer footage of the UFO that had not been released.

Jason Turner - a Petty Officer on the USS Princeton at the time – said the video showed the craft had legs protruding from it.

And a former US Navy Senior Chief Operations Specialist has since come out saying the UFOs were “ always there” .

Pilot Who Chased The UFO: Some Of The Tapes Are “Missing”

This isn’t the first time that Commander Fravor has been in the news, as just last month he appeared on the Joe Rogan show and made some pretty startling revelations. He said that whoever was controlling the UFO was able to block the pilots’ radar systems so that they couldn’t lock in on it. He also mentioned that in the 1990s, another Navy pilot witnessed an unexplained “kind of dark mass coming up from the depths” of the water that was not a submarine. The object sucked the Navy’s torpedo underwater before disappearing into the depths of the water.

Another recent news story involved a U.S. Navy veteran who came forward with claims that shortly after the infamous UFO encounter, secret officials boarded the USS Princeton in order to take “something” off the ship. In an interview with The Nimitz Encounters, Lead Petty Officer Ryan Weigelt said that the officials took “something” off the helicopters that made them unable to fly.

And as for the UFO itself, there have been claims that there were protruding legs coming out from the bottom of the craft. In an interview with The Nimitz Encounters, Petty Officer Jason Turner said, “The shape of it [was odd] as it had some protruding objects at the bottom of it.” He went on to say, “I couldn’t tell if they were curled back or straight down because I was a good five or ten feet from the feed,” adding, “But there were definitely legs on it. It was oblong, like a tic-tac.”

With all of these new revelations, the mystery of the tic-tac shaped UFO encounter in 2004 is deepening, creating more questions than answers.

I was looking at a Gigapan photo of Mars when just 10 seconds into it, I noticed a huge head sitting on the edge of this hillside. Its easy to make out that the head has on a helmet that looks to be made of a turtle shell. His eyes, nose and cheeks also stand out. 

As you see in the photo comparison above, the head has a lot of similarities to Mexicos Colossal Olmec heads. Sure its worn down and eroding from weathering and time, but its details still stand out strong. Also...did you notice the head is sitting upright? Did you notice that the head is looking outward from the side of the hill for the view? Wow, those two details are big deals. They mean the head didn't break off and roll here from the top of the hill. It was created and placed in this specific location...pointing outward on purpose to achieve the best possible view. Obviously this is a monument to someone important.

A video purportedly showing a bizarre-looking object or craft of some kind hovering in the sky over Cuba was uploaded to YouTube in July by a user named "Joel H." According to the comments, the video was sent to "Joel H" by a friend's mother. It's not clear right now if this video was filmed recently, or if it was filmed by the friend's mother. Or if it's authentic!

At first, the object is blurry...

Then it becomes clearer...

Many have been quick to call the footage a CGI hoax, wondering why the UFO was only filmed for 40 seconds.

So far, I haven't been able to find other recent UFO reports out of Cuba to corroborate this one, but many things happen in other countries that never make it to the US news media. Case in point - the witness commentary in this video appears to be in Spanish, so English-speaking researchers may have a difficult time learning about this sighting.

NASA spends about $450 million per mission to launch a space shuttle – but  SpaceX's CEO said its Starship rocket can do it for a fraction of the cost.

Elon Musk stated that the 100-passenger spaceship will only use $900,000 worth of propellant to take-off, compared to the $1.3 million spent on rocket fuel by the American space agency.

'If you consider operational costs, maybe it'll be like $2 million out of SpaceX's pocket each time,' Musk said at Los Angeles Air Force Base.

'This is much less than even a tiny rocket. So, it's something that needs to be made.'

The comments were made during a conversation between Musk and Lieutenant General John Thompson, commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, at Los Angeles Air Force Base, as first reported on by Space.com.

NASA spends about $450 million per mission to launch a space shuttle –but SpaceX's CEO said its Starship rocket can do it for a fraction of the cost

SpaceX hopes its style of reusable rocket will mark a major breakthrough in aerospace technology that will eventually make exploration cheaper and more sustainable.

The firm's Falcon 9 is positioned to be much cheaper than the leading technology, as its launch cost is $57 million, which is less than $2,500 per pound to orbit compared to the $10,000 NASA pays to put one pound of payload in orbit.

Last month, the public got a birds-eye view of three of SpaceX's glimmering Starship spacecraft.

In aerial footage taken by videographer John Winkopp, the Starship craft's shimmering stainless steel body can be seen taking shape at the company's facility in Cocoa, Florida.

As reported by CNBC, the video also shows the first stainless steel bands of another Starship prototype, the Mark 4, being assembled.

Ultimately, Musk hopes that the company's Starship could help humans reach Mars for the first time and has set an optimistic timeline for when the experimental craft might be able to do so.

The first crewed Red Planet mission for the rocket and 100-passenger Starship could come as early as the mid-2020s if development and testing go well, Musk has said.

Additional missions may even include tourist trips to the moon by 2024, according to the CEO.

Although Musk has high hopes for this rocket, scientists have recently poured cold water on the extravagant plans, saying the first manned trip to Mars would not happen for at least a decade and that Musk's project was 'a fantasy'.

David Whitehouse, a former BBC science correspondent, said: 'Elon Musk talked about sending thousands of people to Mars in a few years... That's not going to happen at all. When will we land on Mars? Not in the 2020s.' 

He explained that – unlike trips to the Moon, which 12 people have now walked on – Mars is a 'different kettle of fish'.

WHAT IS ELON MUSK'S 'BFR'?

The BFR (Big F***ing Rocket), now known as Starship, will complete all missions and is smaller than the ones Musk announced in 2016.

The SpaceX CEO said the rocket would take its first trip to the red planet in 2022, carrying only cargo, followed by a manned mission in 2024 and claimed other SpaceX's products would be 'cannibalised' to pay for it.

The rocket would be partially reusable and capable of flight directly from Earth to Mars.

Once built, Musk believes the rocket could be used for travel on Earth - saying that passengers would be able to get anywhere in under an hour.

Will you be planning a trip to an orbiting "space hotel" as early as 2025? 

The Gateway Foundation, a private company developing this "space hotel," thinks so. The organization plans to build what it describes on its website as "the first spaceport." This spaceport, the Von Braun Rotating Space Station, will orbit Earth and will accommodate not only scientific research but also visiting tourists looking to experience life away from our home planet. 

But, while any timeline for the creation of such a structure would be daunting, the Gateway Foundation plans to build the spaceport as early as 2025 (with the support of the space construction company Orbital Assembly).

According to Timothy Alatorre, the lead architect of this space station, who also works as the treasurer and an executive team member at the Gateway Foundation, the Von Braun station is designed to be the largest human-made structure in space and will house up to 450 people. Alatorre is also designing the interiors of the station, including the habitable spaces and gymnasium.

As its name implies, the concept for the station is inspired in part by the ideas of Wernher von Braun, who pioneered in the field of human spaceflight first for Nazi Germany and then for the U.S. This design is inspired by his ideas for a rotating space station, which were derived from other, older ideas. "He had inherited a lot of ideas from previous scientists and authors and theorists, so it wasn't entirely his idea for the torus-shaped, doughnut-shaped space station, but he kind of adopted it. He expanded upon it and eventually, he popularized it," Gary Kitmacher, who works for NASA in the International Space Station program, told Space.com. Kitmacher also has worked on the design of the space station, NASA's shuttle program, Spacehab and Mir, and has contributed as an author in textbooks and to the book "Space Stations: The Art, Science, and Reality of Working in Space (Smithsonian Books, 2018)."

Additionally, "the inspiration behind it [this space station] really comes from watching science fiction over the last 50 years and seeing how mankind has had this dream of starship culture," Alatorre told Space.com.

"I think it started really with 'Star Trek' and then 'Star Wars,' and [with] this concept of large groups of people living in space and having their own commerce, their own industry and their own culture, as it were," he added. 

The team drew inspiration partially from Von Braun's concept of a rotating space station that utilizes artificial gravity for the comfort of its passengers. But, while this new design will use artificial gravity in areas of the station, it will also have spaces on board that will allow passengers to feel the weightlessness of space. 

The ultimate goal for this station is to have it include amenities ranging from restaurants and bars to sports that would allow passengers to take full advantage of weightlessness on board the station. The station will also have programs that include the arts, with concerts on board. "We do hope, though, that people take the time to be inspired, to write music, to paint, to take part in the arts," Alatorre said.

Gateway Foundation officials acknowledge that the station might not be entirely finished by 2025, but the group aims to develop the station's main structure and basic functions by then. "We expect the operation to begin in 2025, the full station will be built out and completed by 2027. … Once the station's fully operational, our hope, our goal and our objective is to have the station available for the average person," Alatorre said. "So, a family or an individual could save up reasonably … and be able to have enough money to visit space and have that experience. … It would be something that would be within reach."

He added that "once or twice a week, we would have new people coming up, and they would be able to spend a couple days or a couple weeks."

So … how would this all work? Is it at all possible?

Building a space station?

Alatorre said that the Gateway Foundation feels that such a project is now possible because the growing success of commercial aerospace companies like SpaceX has made launch options more affordable. 

He added that the company admits that it's possible its timeline is pushing it somewhat. "We completely understand that delays are almost inevitable with aerospace, but based on our internal projections and the fact that we're already dealing with existing technology, we're not inventing anything new. … We really feel that the time frame is possible," he said. 

The company also concedes that its plans are ambitious. 

"I think you could do it," Kitmacher said. "You'd have to have the way to transport it into orbit." 

"It might not be done the way in which we would go about doing it at NASA, but I think you can design and build hardware on a fairly rapid schedule," Kitmacher added.

But while it may be possible, there are a number of variables specific to space that the team will need to consider. For instance, the temperatures in space for those orbiting our planet range from extreme heat to extreme cold, depending on whether the astronauts are in direct sunlight or in the dark. "The real concern is to design the habitat — the pressurized module that you're going to be living in — [in] such a way that it can handle those kinds of temperature changes," Kitmacher said. 

Kitmacher added that the company's current timeline might not be the most realistic. "If you look at something like a commercial airplane, typically a large, commercial airplane is in development for something like a 10-year period, so that's probably a more reasonable schedule," he said. 

With a tight timeline and a number of difficult variables, Kitmacher said that the main obstacle the Gateway Foundation will have to overcome is actually cost. The "cost not only of designing and certifying and getting the whole thing into orbit but also the cost associated with taking the paying passengers, the tourists, up and back," he said. 

The Von Braun space station is designed to be a vacation destination and aims to feature some artificial gravity on board.

Societal concerns

In addition to the technical challenges involved in building this space station, there are a heap of social concerns that could make its success more difficult. 

For starters, if there is a "space hotel," that means the facility would have to have employees. That would mean extended periods of time in space, and research has shown that spaceflight and being in microgravity can have a number of effects on human health.

This would also mean that, if the space station actually becomes an accessible spaceport in orbit around Earth, more people (and not all of them highly trained astronauts) would be flying to space much more regularly than humans do today. There would likely be physical risks involved with such an increased amount of space travel for a wider variety of people, as well as significant legal red tape that the company would have to deal with to get this space station not only off the ground but also to allow for travel to this "space hotel."

Another issue that could affect the public's perception of this developing concept is its association with Wernher von Braun, who was a member of the Nazi party and an SS officer during World War II. 

"We were drawing off of his [von Braun's] inspiration, which is why we started describing it as the von Braun station," Alatorre said. But, "there have been people who've questioned the name, definitely."

While many might disagree, Alatorre added, "our opinion on it is Wernher von Braun was a reluctant Nazi."

Mystery object filmed 'following plane spraying chemicals over Colorado'

A YouTuber was filming a plane he believed was spraying chemtrails, but was stopped in his tracks when he spotted a silver disc following it

A strange circular object has been captured “tracking” a plane that the cameraman claims was spraying substances over Colorado.

The chemtrail conspiracy refers to the bizarre belief that high-flying aircraft often spray chemical or biological agents in the sky for purposes undisclosed to the public.

In the footage, Marc can be heard saying: “Please don’t tell me they’re not spraying – that’s going to spread out across a whole cloud.”

Suddenly, a white flickering object comes into view from the bottom right of the screen.

It appears to head directly towards the plane before hovering near its contrail.

“What is that it’s following it?” Marc says behind the camera.

“You guys, that is too crazy, what is that?”

The YouTuber, who is a self-proclaimed Bigfoot tracker, returned to the site where he made saw the incident unfold soon after.

“I was following it with my camera, I think it was hovering and then it moved,” he said.

“The silver discs do that.

“There are no stars in the sky – there’s no way that was a star.”

Marc posted his bizarre footage to YouTune on November 2, where it has since been seen more than 3,000 times.

Viewers were quick to voice their thoughts in the comments section, with many believing the YouTuber had captured a UFO.

“My theory was the UFO was cleaning up the chemtrail,” one wrote.

“My theory was the UFO was cleaning up the chemtrail,” one wrote.

Another commented: “That is a UFO! Maybe UFO is trying to shoot it down?”

A third agreed, adding: “Looks like a UFO, very strange but cool.”

Fellow YouTube conspiracy channel TheHiddenUnderbelly re-posted the footage and claimed it was “up there with some of the best” UFO videos he’d ever seen.

But there were some who were more sceptical, suggesting it was simply a bird.

In what can be considered an unusual convergence of conspiracy theories, a man who runs a Bigfoot videos YouTube channel was chasing chemtrails when he claimed to have recorded a UFO chasing them as well. If you’re playing Conspiracy Scrabble, ‘Chemtrail’, ‘Bigfoot’ and ‘UFO’ is a triple-word score. However, if your game is Skeptic Chutes and Ladders, the spinner is pointing at a slide. And if your rolling the dice in Glenn Beckgammon … is there really a Glenn Beckgammon and where can you get one (asking for a friend)?

“I got him. He’s spraying. Look at that, you guys, this is what they’re doing to us.”

According to his commentary during the video (you can watch it here), Marc Abell –the CEO of Colorado Bigfoot, a provider of Bigfoot videos – was recording a plane making a contrail over a snow-covered terrain in Vail, Colorado, and believed the color and shape changes in the contrail were signs that the plane was actually spraying something rather than just trailing the usual water vapor and jet exhaust. To the untrained or disbelieving eye, it looks like just another contrail. However, there’s no mistaking that a white object suddenly appears in the video near the contrail.

“What is that it’s following it? You guys, that is too crazy, what is that?”

“You guys” is future listeners to his commentary on YouTube. Abell decides to abandon following the plane (he later expresses a bit of skepticism himself about the alleged ‘chemtrail’ because the contrail quickly dissipated) and ‘follows’ the UFO. ‘Follows’ is difficult to discern, since the white object is too high above the horizon to see whether it’s moving or hovering when he zooms out. Abell watched until he couldn’t see it anymore, but he anticipated what you’re thinking and claims he returned the following day to the same spot at the same time.

‘No way’ is pretty strong, but at least he considered it. A satellite – which could explain why it wasn’t there the following night – is another possibility. OK, but what else could it have been? Abell gives one answer.

“The silver discs do that.”

That’s a flying disc or saucer reference. If this really was an alien or secret military aircraft, it appeared from the video to move under the vapor trail, making it much smaller than the plane. While some commenters speculated it was something analyzing or ‘cleaning up’ the contrail (like in a similar sighting in 2016 where a UFO seems to pass through a hole in the trail), this one doesn’t seem to come near enough to it. ‘Bird’ and ‘lens flare’ are some of the other usual culprits suggested by commenters. Needless to say, there’s no agreement on any one explanation.

It certainly sounds from his commentary that Marc Abell is concerned about ‘chemtrails’. From his other videos, it looks like he’s pretty serious about tracking Bigfoot as well. While it would have improved his score in Conspiracy Scrabble, he didn’t try to link Bigfoot to his Chemtrail/UFO sighting. However, he’s definitely the kind of person you want scanning the skies and the woods for unusual stuff – observant, quick with the camera, steady of hand and willing to consider alternatives.

Marc Abell is also willing to attach his name to his observations of controversial conspiracy theories … something that’s becoming increasingly rare in this world. Whether you agree with them or not, that gives him some bonus points and an extra spin in Skeptic Chutes and Ladders.

Now, to hunt for a Glenn Beckgammon game … for a friend.

It seems that in the world of the paranormal and of UFOs there are certain years that for whatever reason seem to harbor waves of utterly strange accounts. I have covered this sort of phenomenon here with the year 1965 and its spate of very bizarre sightings, but all over the world there have been those years that just seem to be magnets for the odd. In 1968 there were various spikes of UFO activity all over the world, and one place where this was definitely felt was the nation of Canada. In this year there was a nearly unprecedented spike and intense increase in reports of strange things in the sky and what seems to have been their humanoid occupants. Here are some of the strangest of a very strange year.

Much of the year of weirdness emerged in spring of 1968, and in April of that year we have a report from UFO BC that originates from West Vancouver, British Columbia, where two witnesses were sitting in a car at Whytecliff Park waiting for a friend. They allegedly were snapped out of their lazy daydreaming by a bright white light that slowly moved towards the edge of the nearby wood, where it disappeared behind some trees. Immediately after this, the forest disgorged a “small glowing humanoid,” which moved about with very quick, precise movements, and was so bright that it was impossible to make out any clothing or facial features. The strange little being then looked at them and went back into the woods, after which the bright light they had originally seen lifted up into the air over the tree line and sped off.

That same month, a report from the CASUFO files tells of a witness in Chicoutimi, Quebec by the name of Mrs. Tremblay. She claims that she had been walking on her way to a restaurant when she saw hovering in the sky a strange object with a beam shooting down to the ground beneath it. According to the witness, the beam of light then trained on her, and she squeezed her eyes closed in the sudden, blinding brightness, only to open them and find that the object was gone and nowhere to be seen. The dazed woman then decided to head home, where she says she saw a small humanoid being with dark blue eyes and dressed in an odd-looking seamless white overall loitering around her home. According to the witness, as soon as the tiny man realized he had been seen he vanished into thin air right before her eyes. Apparently other humanoids dressed in similar clothing would be seen in the area over the next few months.

In summer of that year we have quite a few otherworldly encounters. In Sarnia, Ontario, there was a 10-year-old girl who looked outside her house one June evening to see a glowing humanoid with a bald head and no facial features sitting at the bench near their garage. She would claim that when it stood up it was around 6 feet tall, and that when the frightened girl called for her father it disappeared. That same month, two witnesses referred to as Mrs. B. L. and Mrs. A. B. were walking along near a parking lot in Laval-des-Rapides, Quebec, when they saw some strange object eclipse the full moon in the sky. As they peered at this strange anomaly they could make out two smallish humanoid beings floating through the air towards them, and as they got closer it could be seen that they had black skin and were dressed in tight fitting one-piece outfits. The two odd creatures descended to just a few feet over the ground, upon which one of them allegedly produced “a pitchfork” and began poking the ground with it before the two women fled the scene in fear.

In July of 1968 the oddness continued, starting with an odd report from July 2, when a woman in Alexis de Montcalm, Quebec, saw a procession of 20 tiny green men with pointed noses and mushroom-shaped hats file by her home at night. That very same day, two constables in St. Thomas, Quebec, spotted two little weird humanoids with bulbous, over-sized heads that stood only 2 feet tall each. The beings apparently ran through a drainage ditch and the officers gave chase, only to vanish into thin air as the police closed in. Quebec seems to have actually been a hotspot of such encounters at the time, because on July 26 two boys riding their bicycles near the airport at Riviere Du Loup claimed they had seen two short, three-foot tall gray skinned humanoids run out from out behind a hangar to disappear into the brush. Just 2 days later, on July 28, five young witnesses in St. Stanislas De Kostka, Quebec, saw two UFOs with red halos land not far away, and when they went to investigate they say they encountered a humanoid that stood 4-feet tall and had a large head, no discernible neck, large round eyes, a flat nose, and brown skin that was “wrinkled, scabby, with bumps.” They claimed that when they shone their flashlight on it the weird creature reeled and backed away to a barn, but would later knock on the window of the house while making “a mooing sound like a cow” before disappearing into the night and flying off in one of the UFOs.

That same month found other similarly baffling reports from other areas of Canada as well, and in some instances the witnesses even claimed to have been abducted. One such account comes from a woman who says she was teleported from her Ontario home to the yard, where she saw a large glowing disc descend to produce three humanoid “aliens” that allegedly dragged her into their ship. She says that she was put on a floating bed and operated on, with them cutting open her brain in an attempt to put a “tracking device” in her head and then healing the wound with the wave of an inscrutable device. It is unclear what the creatures looked like as the report, first published in Michael D. Swords’ Grassroots UFOs, doesn’t provide a proper description.

That summer brought more weirdness on into August, with one quite bizarre report on UFO BC and coming from Vancouver, British Columbia. The witnesses are described as being a group of young boys who were out playing with BB guns at the Shaugnessy Golf course when they spied a metallic object about the size of a small car that looked like a “flying saucer” sitting there upon the grass. The curious kids approached it to and rapped on its surface, then one of them began to walk around it, and as he did he saw standing there a pale blue humanoid with a white jumpsuit and red sash tied around its waist. The strange report reads as follows:

The witness said, “My name is Kim” and put his right hand on his heart. The creature responded by holding his palms upward and made a sound, but he didn’t seem to “have a tongue”. At one point he put out his right arm and nodded for the witness to do the same thing with his left, and he was allowed to compare his hand with the alien’s and except for the pallor they were very similar. At this point he heard a voice in his head that spoke the words, “Would you like to pray”? And he bowed and put his arms pointing down with palms towards the witness. He was a bit embarrassed and to get a laugh from his friends who were literally “stunned” he made a gesture towards this BB gun in his right pocket. The alien seemed to sense this and the witness had to apologize for this and explained that it was only a bb-gun and was not real, the alien seemed to understand. The witness said a few more things and then waved at the alien and the alien waved back. The witness then rejoined his friends and they left the area.

Also in August we get back to Quebec and its high strangeness, where in Montreal three men named Guy Gagne, Jean-Guy Girouard, and Carol Marquis were on their way back home from a fair when they saw a 3-foot tall creature that looked similar to a monkey but with a disproportionately large head walking along with what appeared to be great difficulty. The otherworldly being made its way to a streetlamp and then purportedly suddenly nimbly leapt a full 30 feet to the other side of the street before disappearing. Later on that month, on August 28, a group of schoolchildren in Coleraine, also in Quebec, saw a strange being lurking about a cemetery over the course of 4 days. The strange looking creature was described as looking like a 4-foot tall man with a bald head, a bushy black beard, and rough, scaly skin like a lizard’s that was red in color. On the fourth day the bizarre being then apparently boarded a blue, white and red “flying saucer,” that shot up into the sky trailing a plume of thick smoke, which was seen by several adults who the children had called to investigate.

More Quebec humanoid madness would follow in September, where we have a string of such reports from the region. On September 14, three young girls in Drummondville saw a tiny, dwarf-like man in an overcoat and hat walking about with movements like those of a robot, who apparently had a look of terror on his face when he realized the kids had seen him. The curious little man then supposedly vanished into thin air. The next day, the same witnesses saw the same humanoid being step out of a circle of red light, this time wearing a dark blue jumpsuit, after which it did its strange robot walk behind a tree and disappeared, apparently leaving odd footprints behind. On September 21, two different girls saw what they called “a Martian” on the roof of their school in Coaticook , Quebec, which they said had “a green face with no nose, mouth or hair” and which emitted sparks when it moved. Later that week, on the 28th, a family in Asbestos, Quebec, saw a green rectangle in the sky that discharged a yellow orange disc from which several humanoid occupants were said to exit and float around before getting back into the craft and speeding off. A similar object was seen by several other witnesses in the area as well.

These are just a sampling of some of the dozens of reports of bizarre humanoid and UFO encounters that came pouring in during the year of 1968 all over Canada, and in particular Quebec. Why should there be such a high concentration of sightings during this one year? Were any of these cases related to each other, and what were these entities? Were they aliens or interdimensional interlopers, and if so, what did they want and why in 1968? It is all rather baffling to say the least, and leaves one wondering just what was going on here in this weird year of utter strangeness.

As I have written two articles in the last couple of days on the connections between UFOs and computer-systems (and, primarily, on the subject of computer-hacking), I thought I would go ahead and turn it all into a 3-part article. Collectively, it serves to demonstrate the strange nature of this very controversial aspect of the UFO subject. My first article of this “trio” was on the controversial matter of Gary McKinnon and his most unwise hacking of NASA in the early 2000s. The second feature was on the equally weird affair of alleged alien autopsies, NBC, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and, of course, hacking. As for this third and final article on this topic, it will focus on other aspects of the UFO-computer subject, but not ignoring the hacking issue. We will begin with an account from the late UFO researcher Leonard Stringfield, who died in 1994. His research primarily revolved around the “crashed UFO” angle. We’re talking about the Roswell controversy of 1947 and similar alleged incidents. In the summer of 1978 Stringfield was able to speak with a U.S. Army source that Stringfield referred to only as “J.K.,” Stringfield’s informant revealed a great deal about crashed UFOs, dead aliens, and autopsies of extraterrestrials. And, there was more, too.

Among the many revelations was this one from J.K.: “Since 1948, secret information concerning UFO activity involving the U.S. military has been contained in a computer center at Wright-Patterson AFB. At this base, a master computer file is maintained with duplicate support backup files secreted at other military installations. Get the complete ‘dump file,’ both the master and the support backup files and you’ve got all the hidden UFO data.” Interesting, but the fact that the data came from an anonymous source didn’t help much at all when the story was published by Stringfield in January 1980 – in the pages of his 38-pages-long booklet, The UFO Crash/Retrieval Syndrome. Moving on…

In my November 2018 book Top Secret Alien Abduction Files I revealed the many and varied ways and means by which Whitley Strieber (of Communion fame) had clearly been placed under surveillance by one or more agencies of the U.S. government and the intelligence community. In terms of the computer-based angle to all of this, it begins as follows: it was in late 1993 that Strieber found himself the recipient of an email that contained data revealing the alleged coded locations of Top Secret UFO-themed material on U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) computer systems. Strieber explained what happened next: “Spooks started prowling around my neighborhood upstate. A business associate was accosted on an airplane by a group of young men who flashed badges, claimed to be with the National Security Agency, and questioned him about our activities for a couple of hours. They alleged that they were responsible for investigating intrusions into the Defense Department’s secure computer systems.” Now, onto yet another case of computers.

Back in 1991, Kevin Randle’s and Don Schmitt’s book, UFO Crash at Roswell, was published. In the book, the pair told an interesting but brief story of a man  “who said he worked at NORAD in Colorado Springs.” Schmitt and Randle added: “In the course of computerizing some of the files, he came across one labeled: USAAF (United States Army Air Force) Early Automation. The file dealt with the recovery of several small bodies and included black and white photographs of them. The man said the bodies were small, no more than four or five feet tall, with big heads.”

Perhaps the strangest, relevant story of all – one of a definitively surreal nature – was one that I addressed some time ago (July 15, 2015), here at Mysterious Universe. You can find the story at this link and which is focused on a man named Matthew Williams. He is a UFO researcher and Crop Circle-maker whose computer was confiscated by the U.K. government’s National Cyber Crime Unit for controversial reasons. It’s a very weird story – one that is absolutely filled to the brim with tales of strange formations found in corn-fields, of a well-known computer-hacker, and of much, much more. What all of this demonstrates – along with the material that is included in the two, previous articles on UFOs and hacking – is that the matter of government computer systems, UFOs, the military, government agencies, and hackers (and their hacking) goes far deeper than most people realize.

My previous article – on Gary McKinnon and his disastrous attempts, in the early 2000s, to try and find the U.S. government’s UFO secrets by hacking NASA – demonstrated one thing, more than any other. Namely, that such activity provokes massive media coverage. It was big news in both the United States and the U.K. There was similar such media coverage (chiefly in the U.K., though) when a Welshman named Matthew Bevan did something near-identical in the 1990s. Just like McKinnon, Bevan ended up in big trouble. In 1997, Bevan found himself arrested and in court. Luckily for Bevan – and just as was the case with Gary McKinnon, too – he walked free when the court-case collapsed. Although these two examples of “Hacking for UFOs” are without doubt the most well-known ones, they certainly are not the only ones. In many respects, the example I’m going to share with you today is even more intriguing than that of Bevan and McKinnon combined.

The story goes back to 1992 – and to the popular TV show Dateline NBC. Specifically, it goes back to October 27 of that year. That was when NBC ran a segment of its show with the eye-catching title of “Are Your Secrets Safe?” It was a good, solid piece that demonstrated the very real, growing threat that computer-hacking posed. To get its point across, the show’s producers secured interviews with a number of hackers. It’s no surprise at all that their identities were not revealed to NBC’s viewers. After all, they were breaking the law.  Although “Are Your Secrets Safe?” was not intended to fly the flag of Ufology, in a very strange and highly controversial fashion, it did exactly that. Of the various hackers that NBC spoke with, one of them revealed that he had illegally accessed certain computerized files held at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. Where those files might be now is just about anyone’s guess. As a reader of Mysterious Universe, you will know all too well that Wright-Patterson AFB has a long and deep connection to the UFO phenomenon.

During the show, and to provide the viewers with intriguing visuals, a highly notable image appeared on the screen. The section that was discernible read as follows: “WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB/Cataloged UFO parts list, an underground facility of Foreign...” It’s possible that the words which came after “Foreign” were “Technology Division.” The reason being that the USAF’s Foreign Technology Division (FTD) had its home at Wright-Patterson for many years. In 1992, however, the FTD was renamed and revamped as the Foreign Aerospace Science and Technology Center (FASTC). Given the time-frame in which NBC ran the show (twenty-seven years ago), and the age of the documentation that the hacker had obtained, the missing words almost certainly referenced either the FTD or the FASTC. The now-defunct newsstand magazine, UFO, said in its Volume 9, No. 3 issue that data concerning alien autopsies at Wright-Pat was in the hands of the same hacker that NBC had on the show.

The producer of the “Are Your Secrets Safe?” portion of the October 27, 1992 Dateline episode was Susan Adams. In the wake of the broadcast, she said that NBC was surprised by the large response from viewers. Adams expanded more: it was revealed that the hacker’s name could not be revealed, primarily because he had – technically speaking – committed a felony. Adams did say this, however: “The hacker is aware of the interest his apparent UFO data has provoked, but does not wish to respond.” Adams also said that the production had been carefully addressed “with a fine-tooth comb” by NBC’s attorneys.

This was a big – and amazing – story that was told on a hugely popular show on NBC. Yet, aside from the initial flood of interest, it was soon forgotten. Unlike the cases involving Matthew Bevan and Gary McKinnon, there was no attempt by U.S. authorities to hunt the hacker down and have him/them arrested. In fact, the whole thing faded away. Of course, to a significant degree this is understandable: 1992 was before The X-Files had been broadcast. No one had even heard of Mulder and Scully. And TV shows like UFO Hunters and Ancient Aliens wouldn’t surface for years and years. In other words, the interest that much of the public and even the mainstream media has in “the unexplained” today, didn’t exist back then.

Who was that hacker? How had he got his hands on what were seemingly highly-classified files on UFOs held at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base? What did those files state? Why did the authorities not follow-up on all this, as they did with Bevan and McKinnon? Close to three decades after this strange-but-largely-forgotten story surfaced, it’s likely we’ll never know.

US Government Information on ETs is Hidden Really Well, According to Whistleblower Edward Snowden

One of the most popular subjects among conspiracy theorists in forums and YouTube channels is the existence of aliens and UFOs. Claims on ET existence are usually supported with more than some grainy video of a light in the sky.

However, there’s one man who is significantly better positioned than most conspiracy theorists to expose a government cover-up of extraterrestrial life: that man named Edward Snowden, the whistleblower who now lives in exile in Russia.

Snowden revealed that he had searched the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) databases for proof of alien life. He said that he had ridiculous access to the networks of the military, the CIA, the NSA, all these groups. Unfortunately, he found nothing.

Snowden concluded that the information on aliens is hidden really well even from people who are on the inside.

Conspiracy theorists agree that the ET information is hidden really well, and it only means one thing to them, keep looking.

Snowden had leaked highly classified NSA information from his position as a CIA employee. He fled to Moscow after he was charged with two counts of espionage and theft of government property. He spent more than a month living in Sheremetyevo Airport terminal before eventually being granted asylum.

Odd Cloud Formation Filmed in Florida

A strange video circulating online shows a strange cloud formation that has turned many confused observers upside down.

The video footage was reportedly shot last week in Florida by a person named "Grey Garcia" and then released on a popular YouTube channel dedicated to anomalous videos.

Unfortunately, apart from this background information, no further details about the video are available.

An odd video circulating online shows a strange cloud formation that has left many bewildered observers scratching their heads. The footage was reportedly filmed last week in Florida by an individual going by the name of 'Grey Garcia' and subsequently wound up being posted on a popular YouTube channel devoted to anomalous videos. Unfortunately, aside from that bit of background information, no other details about the video are available.

Be that as it may, the footage is rather interesting as it shows several evenly spaced stick-like clouds stretching in a long line across the sky. Dubbed a 'stairway to heaven' by some, the origin and nature of the weird formation is unknown. While it may simply be a natural meteorological phenomenon, one online viewer offered the intriguing suggestion that perhaps the series of clouds are the remnants of a skywriting message that was slowly fading away. Remember Harry Reid? The former US senator from Nevada and Senate Majority Leader from 2015 – 2017 is best known in some circles for his support of UFO research and full disclosure while in office, including securing secret funding for the secret study known as ATTIP (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program). After retiring due to a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Reid has continued to fight both against the cancer and for the UFO cause and to clear up misinformation that has been distributed by the government about ATTIP and UFOs. He recently sat down for an exclusive interview with George Knapp, the acclaimed journalist and UFO investigator. Here are some of the highlights.

“I don’t understand what we’re seeing around the world with all these unidentified flying objects, and I want to be able to have an intelligent conversation in this regard.”

Reid is longing for the days when he was a government insider, authorizing the black budgets for ATTIP and its predecessor AAWSAP (Aerospace Weapons System Application Program). While ATTIP officially ended in 2012, there are many who believe it secretly still exists – Reid is one of them. ATTIP members ended up in Tom DeLong’s To The Stars Academy for Arts and Sciences and were responsible for the release of the Navy UFO footage in 2017. Apparently, Reid doesn’t (or can’t) talk to them intelligently about it and no one on the inside in Congress has Reid’s guts to go public.

“Well, let them say something about it. I’m tired of all this, they’re getting briefings and all that. Let them step up to the plate like I did and do something publicly.”

It’s not that easy, as Reid should remember. He couldn’t get any info on what alleged UFO materials some corporations may have had in their possession. Then again, Reid himself isn’t that forthcoming with information these days either, as Knapp found out when he questioned the former senator about UFO discussions during his recent visit with Bill and Hillary Clinton. The former president expressed an interest in UFO disclosure while in office and the former presidential candidate promise she would do it if elected. Reid told Knapp that they promised to give him more dirt on their next visit – not exactly a risky promise to make to someone who’s 79 and being treated for pancreatic cancer.

“Nope, nope, but he, I didn’t want to push him, but he was very interested.”

Reid was also evasive with Knapp about a UFO conversation he had with the late astronaut and former senator John Glenn. Unfortunately, it seems all that’s available to talk to is what Reid refers to as “a fringe group of people out there who want to control this. The so-called conspiratorial folks.”

“They don’t want anybody that’s based on facts involved in this. So what do they do? They go online and try to belittle Elizondo and me and anybody else that is trying to do it in a scientific way. Elizondo is a man with a great record serving our country and people should leave him alone. And one thing about him, he’s not backing off and I appreciate that very much.”

Luis Elizondo headed ATTIP and is currently Director of Global Security and Special Programs at To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science. Reid describes him as a fighter for the UFO disclosure cause and he’s encouraged by the mainstream media coverage he gets. He’s also encouraged by the willingness of the Navy to received and review UFO reports from its pilots without fear of punishment.

It would have been nice if Reid had shared more of what he knows with George Knapp, especially with his pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Fortunately, it’s in remission so he can continue to fight for UFO disclosure despite the “fringe group” and “conspiratorial folks.” Let’s hope his next conversation with George or some non-conspiratorial folks tells us more.

Mothman—or at least something Mothman-esque—has been a strangely constant presence in the states around Lake Michigan since he first reappeared in Chicago in 2017. Less a typical “flap” with one extreme burst of sightings, the modern Mothman reports have slowly and steadily trickled in. This past October (a perfect time for spotting Mothman), there were two sightings of a large winged humanoid in Rosemont, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

The first sighting took place on October 5, 2019, near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.  The anonymous witness reported the sighting to Lon Strickler at Phantoms and Monsters. The witness initially contacted MUFON but declined to follow through with the MUFON investigator after becoming concerned that their anonymity would not be respected. The witness likely works as an Uber driver or for a similar company and was parked outside O’Hare when they saw the creature. From their account:

The encounter was so brief, but I also got a pretty good look at the creature. I was parked by the light pole. It allows me to park a little more off the road. I was fumbling around with some charging cables that lead to the backseat of the car, for my passengers to use while in the car. I had my passenger side windows down to give my A/C a break.

It was then that I saw movement and looked up to see the creature emerging out of the trees. It was large and about six to seven feet tall. It was human-like in appearance, but almost solid black. [There] were no real features on this thing, just solid black. It swiveled its head around, looking and scanning and that is where I saw the glowing red eyes. The rest of the body was thin, I remember making note that it looked like a thin person and it was sort of hunched over, because its arms were down to about it’s knees. The wings were about as wide [as] it was tall, so about six to seven feet in width and looked like the wings of a bat. When it walked it kind of had a weird sort of a waddle, not so much like a penguin but like the kind of stride that a large bird (like an Emu) would have.

Mothman is probably the spookiest dude on the planet.

The witness continued to state that there were other drivers around so someone else had to have seen it too. The witness says the creature flew off to the south and left behind a strong smell of ammonia.

The second report comes courtesy of Manuel Navarette of UFO Clearinghouse, who received a report from a man who saw the creature while he was attending a wedding at the Edward Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois on October 19, 2019. The Edward Hotel is approximately three miles north of the O’Hare Airport. The man says he stepped outside for a cigarette and was walking through the parking lot when he heard a scream that sounded like a woman’s voice. He turned on his phone’s flashlight and began looking around the area. Then he says the creature flew directly over his head. From his report:

This thing was at least six feet tall and was solid black with large wings, it looked like a giant-sized bat flew over the top of me. It was all black and kind of stuck out against the lights of the parking lot and the lights from around the area including the gas station across the street. Three other people saw it as well, including a couple who were walking across the parking lot as I heard them exclaiming about it. It flew toward the expressway and the BP gas station, this whole time it was screeching loud and flapping its wings hard like it was trying to gain height. When I lost sight of it, it was about the height of the billboard across the street still shrieking away.

Now I know I had been drinking during the wedding and was a little buzzed when I walked outside, but I was as sober as a judge after seeing this thing. It was unnatural and was pretty much the scariest thing I ever did see, but I know for a fact that I saw it and those other people saw it.

I mean, this one looks more like a Crowman, but that’s just as spooky.

The witness says he did not notice any red eyes or other distinguishing features. He also stresses that while he had been drinking he was not impaired in any way. Although, that’s usually what people say.

The second report sounds like it could be a misidentification of a large bird or something else of that nature, but in context with the first report and the string of Mothman sightings throughout this area since 2017, it becomes a bit more interesting. At this point, real or not, Mothman has permeated the collective unconscious enough that we’ll likely be hearing reports of this thing for a very long time to come.

Here is a great eyewitness video of a fleet of UFOs over Utah two weeks ago. The report was just sent into MUFON today. The video clearly shows several glowing balls of light appearing next to one another. The objects do not fall and only move to the right, so that rules out military flares. The objects are huge, car size at least to be seen from such a distance...so that rules out drones. 

I do believe what this person is witnessing is a small fleet of UFOs that are exiting an underground base 5-6km below Bountiful city. The UFOs are appearing next to one another and assuming proper fleet positions for long distance traveling. The of course cloak as soon as they can, but still they are each visible for a few seconds. Remarkable raw footage.

Eyewitness states: 

I was in my front yard communicating with the Amateur Radio Emergency Services Net. It was dark and I was looking West toward Antelope Island which is located in the western part of Davis County. I observed a cluster of approximately 50 bright orange lights enter the atmosphere over the island in a southerly direction. I thought a large meteor had broken up in the atmosphere, but then they hovered in a cluster and changed direction toward the East. The cluster of lights disappeared and a bright, white light was left in their place hovering. I then observed several bright white lights blinking in a sequential pattern in a straight line as they hovered. I reached for my cell phone and was able to capture some of this amazing event. I did not capture the 50 bright orange lights on video but what I did capture is pretty amazing. Later, someone I told sent me a link to a video of a cluster of bright orange lights hovering over the ocean near North Carolina on the same day. I watched the video and observed that it was exactly what I saw during the initial sighting.

Classic Disk Seen At Niagara Falls In Old Family Photo, 1910, UFO Sighting News.

A person was going through some old photo and came across one of Niagara falls. Above the falls was a classic disk UFO. The raised upper center area is clearly a dome. The object is large and is recorded from the bottom area of the falls. It looks like its about size of a city bus. If it was hovering there, surly the person must have seen it, but if it was speeding past and inadvertently got caught in the photo, the person would not know until they saw the photos later. Either way, its an awesome classic disk.

Boomerang UFO Over Cuba May Be Top Secret Drone From US Navy Base, UFO Sighting News.

This boomerang UFO was seen over the Caribbean island of Cuba last summer. Although I have reported other boomerang UFOs before, this one has a rotating white object on its bottom. It seems this rotating object moves similar to that of a radar tower, focusing a 360 degree direction around it. Its very possible that this is not an alien craft, but an America secret military radar drone that the US Navy is experimenting with. You see, US Guantanamo Bay Navel Base is in Cuba and this leads me to think the US Navy are probably responsible for this craft. I am confident this craft returned to the US base soon after this sighting.

Cigar-Shaped UFO Spotted in Egypt

A UFO has been recorded on video hovering in the sky over the Egyptian capital of Cairo. The amazing video shows what appears to be a bright cylindrical object turning and twisting in the overcast sky. While not moving, the unusual sight seems to scare those people from the ground.

Several individuals can be heard screaming in the background while some others gasp in shock.

The clip of the UFO sighting was posted on October 29 to YouTube with the caption “Something weird in the sky.”

The user asked viewers with a logical interpretation to tell them.

The video was then picked up by popular conspiracy channel Mavi 777, where dozens wrote their thoughts in the comment section.

One wrote that he did not understand the reason people did not go closer upon seeing the objects and check it out.

Another one said that it could be just a drone.

But many others claimed that it was definitive evidence of aliens.

In recent months, cigar-shaped UFOs have been in the spotlight after a series of such sightings over the US.

It started in June when a mysterious snake-like object appeared over the Mojave Desert in California. Since, then similar UFOs have been spotted over New York City, Orlando, Washington Dc, and Michigan.

We noticed this video clip – originally published at our site in 2013 – was getting a lot of notice today. It deserves it! It’s amazing.

This video clip (from a longer documentary, Ants! Natures Secret Power) shows the excavation of a huge ant city, from a former colony of grass-cutter ants. Over the course of three days, scientists pumped 10 tons of cement into the abandoned ant hill. After weeks of digging, the scientists revealed the colony’s intricate and impressive structure. It’s amazing!

By the way, note the word abandoned. No ant genocide here, although a marvelous underground structure was altered in the name of science.

Why Mars Base Tech Should Be Tested on the Moon First

The moon could be a valuable place to learn before astronauts head to Mars.

NASA and several other space agencies and private companies are eyeing the moon as the next frontier for space exploration. As NASA plans to put humans on the surface by 2024, entities ranging from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency to private company Moon Express are discussing how to build settlements and land machines to work cooperatively, potentially building a new lunar economy in the process. NASA's eventual goal is to apply the lessons learned at the moon to launch human missions to Mars.

There are vast differences, of course, between the moon and Mars, Beauvois acknowledged. While both of these locations are rocky worlds, Mars has a thin atmosphere and weather, while the moon is a nearly airless body only disturbed by radiation and the occasional micrometeorite. 

The differences mean that at Mars, parts of the Red Planet environment could be integrated into a bioregenerative life support system. For example, methane or water ice resources on Mars could augment the supplies astronauts bring with them.

So why test at the moon before going on to Mars? For one thing, Beauvois said that people at both locations have the same needs. Astronauts would need to figure out how to supply their own power, to find water and to use the resources available to build structures and to live and work on the surface. 

Technologies that extract water from moon dust, for example, could be applied to the regolith on Mars. The same goes for processes such as 3D printing, which would likely use the lunar (or Martian) regolith to enhance the shielding or to assist with putting together the structure. Also, astronauts on the moon could test surface fission nuclear reactors to ensure they would be useful on Mars.

Beauvois also pointed to life support systems. He suggested that designs for inflatable and transparent structures from the moon could be exported to Mars, as long as those structures were adapted for the differences in air pressure on the two worlds. The technology for water recycling, for growing plants in low light and for using biofuels in engines could also be applied in both locations. 

Working on the moon could allow researchers to answer questions — such as what species grow well in these environments — before shipping these technologies farther out in the solar system, where it is harder to make adjustments as you go along, he added.

NASA Has Found a Weird, Unexplained Boundary in Interstellar Space

Voyager 2 passed through the borderland between the Sun and interstellar space and found something new and puzzling that Voyager 1 missed.

On November 5, 2018, NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft crossed into interstellar space, some six years after its twin, Voyager 1, made the same transition. There, it found something new and puzzling that its predecessor had missed.

For the past year, scientists have pored over data collected during the lead-up and aftermath of the probe’s passage from the major sphere of influence of the Sun into the void between stars, called the interstellar medium

The boundary between these two realms, known as the heliopause, is a dynamic environment. This is where galactic cosmic rays, which are high-energy particles from alien stars and distant galaxies, slam into the bubble-like magnetic shield created by the Sun, which encompasses the solar system.

The Voyager probes are the only human-made objects that have ever traversed this tumultuous borderland between the Sun and the stars. While the twin probes sent back many similar observations, Voyager 2 encountered new phenomena while entering the interstellar medium, according to a packet of five new studies published on Monday in Nature Astronomy.

For instance, Voyager 2 discovered a previously unknown border just outside the heliopause, reports a team led by Edward Stone, a professor of physics at Caltech and project scientist on the Voyager program since its inception in the 1970s.

The researchers call this threshold a “cosmic ray boundary layer” because it signals where the probe experienced a shift in the gradient of cosmic rays from the great beyond and the lower-energy particles typical of the familiar environment around our Sun.

There’s evidence that Voyager 1 also encountered one of these cosmic ray boundary layers, but interestingly, it was located on the inside of the heliopause.

“There appear to be cosmic ray boundary layers on both sides of the heliopause, with the outer one only being evident at the position of Voyager 2,” Stone’s team said in the study. “This cosmic ray boundary layer on the outside of the heliopause was not evident at the place and time where Voyager 1 crossed it.”

It’s not clear why the probes ended up crossing through these layers on opposite sides of the heliopause. It could be related to the contrasting trajectories of the Voyagers, with Voyager 1 exiting the heliopause in the northern hemisphere and Voyager 2 leaving from the south.

The edge of interstellar space is also a rapidly changing environment, and the Sun’s activity had declined in the six years between the two transits, which surely influenced the conditions experienced by both probes.

Regardless, Voyager 1 recorded an influx of high-energy cosmic rays before it ever passed through the heliopause. “We had two episodes [on Voyager 1] where we were connected to the outside,” Stone said in a teleconference on Thursday. “In that case, we saw the leakage from outside in.”

Voyager 2 recorded the exact opposite phenomenon: an increase in low-energy particles from the heliosphere after it crossed the line into interstellar space.

“We can take another look at the data we have to try to understand what the process is by which the particles which are inside start leaking out,” Stone explained in the teleconference. “There appears to be a region just outside the heliopause where there’s still some connection back to the inside.”

This spilling of particles from both sides of the heliopause highlights what a bizarre environment lies at the edge of the Sun’s magnetic influence. Still, despite its apparent permeability, most cosmic rays never make it past the heliopause and into the solar system.

This has been a good deal for life on Earth because galactic cosmic radiation is damaging to biological beings. For this reason, a better understanding of the heliopause has implications for identifying potentially habitable star systems and exoplanets beyond our Sun.

The Voyagers are the first probes to send direct observations of this important boundary back to Earth, and to spend eternity beyond it. Let’s hope they are not the last.

What Voyager 2 has learned since entering interstellar space

Het is niet voor niets dat men de afgelopen jaren talloze nieuwe wolkensoorten heeft moeten bedenken.

Steeds vaker zien mensen de meest bizarre wolken boven hun hoofden verschijnen en het wordt steeds moeilijker om deze "weg" te verklaren. 

Meestal heb je een soort wolkeloze lucht waar dan opeens een vreemd uitziende wolk in verschijnt. Een wolk die volgens ufologen helemaal geen wolk is, maar een ruimteschip.

Waar, of complete onzin? Zijn het wolken die door Gerrit Hiemstra verklaard kunnen worden als een bijzonder meteorologisch verschijnsel, of zit er toch meer achter. Vandaag presenteren wij een aantal voorbeelden, nieuwe en ook een aantal eerder getoonde, en bepaal dan zelf of het inderdaad menselijke of buitenaardse ruimteschepen zijn of toch gewoon wolken.

Maar, voordat we dat doen, even de trailer van een nieuwe BBC televisieserie. Het is een drieluik genaamd War of the Worlds, gebaseerd op het originele verhaal van H.G. Wells uit 1898 over een buitenaardse invasie op aarde.


Niet alleen de BBC, maar ook FOX komt met een achtdelige serie, eveneens gebaseerd op het verhaal van H.G. Wells.



Toeval? Of worden we hier voorbereid op de nep buitenaardse invasie zoals die destijds is voorspeld door de Duitse raketgeleerde Wernher von Braun?

Of de mensheid nu voorbereid of niet, of dat er echt buitenaardsen bij ons actief zijn, feit is dat er steeds vaker bizarre wolken worden waargenomen die volgens velen geen wolken zijn. Het kan dan ook bijna geen toeval zijn dat er enkele jaren geleden allerlei nieuwe soorten wolken werden bedacht. Nieuwe tot dan niet bestaande wolken die misschien moeten dienen als dekmantel voor de vele vreemde verschijningen over de hele wereld.

Enkele weken geleden verschijnt de volgende "wolk" boven het Amerikaanse stadje Rexburg in de staat Idaho.

Wat ook hier weer opvalt is dat er een "wolk" verschijnt in een verder wolkeloze hemel, althans op deze hoogte. 

Het is een wolk die opvalt en daarom ook op camera wordt vastgelegd door een opgewonden vader met zijn zoontje.



Vorig jaar april publiceerden wij het volgende voorbeeld van een wolk die geen wolk is:

Een prachtig voorbeeld van een vermomming van een buitenaards ruimteschip vinden we in een waarneming dat is ingediend bij Mufon onder nummer 91551 door een man uit Ashburn in de Amerikaanse staat Virginia.

De man in kwestie is bouwvakker en stond op 15 maart van dit jaar op de vijfde verdieping van een gebouw in aanbouw, toen hij besloot een foto te nemen. Hij was het verder vergeten en pas op 21 april heeft hij de foto bekeken.

Tot zijn grote verbazing ontdekte hij een wel hele vreemde wolk in de lucht. De foto die hij nam ziet er zo uit.

Wanneer je de wolk dichterbij haalt, dan zie je de bekende UFO vorm en ook dat het allesbehalve een wolk is.

Een jaar eerder hadden we een vreemde ufo wolk boven een Ierse stad:

Iets dergelijks was er enkele dagen geleden aan de hand in de Ierse stad Carlow. Daar ontstond de nodige opwinding omdat een inwoner een bijzondere foto op Facebook had geplaatst.

De lokale pers had het al over een geval voor Mulder en Scully, want wat daar boven Carlow hing, leek wel heel veel op een UFO.

Een hemel met cirrus bewolking, inclusief chemtrail, en daar ver onder en niet zo ver van de grond een wel heel bijzondere wolk.

Deze wolk werd opgemerkt door Greg MacLennan en zijn vrouw die op zaterdagmiddag een eindje waren gaan rijden en bij terugkomst deze boven hun woonplaats zagen hangen, vlakbij het station.

Greg zei tegen de lokale krant dat de wolk verdacht veel op een UFO leek of op de camouflage van een UFO en dat ze deze wolken daarom UFO wolken noemen. Verder verklaarde de man stoer niet te geloven dat het hier een UFO betrof, maar uiteraard de beruchte lenticularis wolk was. Een type wolk dat wordt gebruikt om gecamoufleerde UFO’s aan te duiden.

Wanneer je de foto echter wat meer uitvergroot, is het moeilijk om een betere opname te krijgen van een zogenaamde klassieke retro UFO. Je ziet een prachtig gevormde klassieke schotelvorm, inclusief de koepel.

Twee jaar daarvoor een bizarre wolk boven een Canadees dorp.

Afgelopen dinsdag maakte Bob Wall, een inwoner van het dorp Terrace in het Canadese British Colombia, de volgende opname:

Alhoewel de officiële verklaring lenswolk was, waren de bewoners van Terrace er allesbehalve gerust op.

Velen vermoeden dat het hier toch gaat om een UFO in vermomming en ufoloog Scott Waring kan zich hier zelfs enorm over opwinden.

“Het nieuws zegt dat het gaat om een lenswolk, natuurlijk, gemaakt door een verdomde buitenaardse UFO in een verdomde lenswolk. Echt, mensen dragen camouflagekleren wanneer ze op jacht gaan zodat ze één worden met de omgeving en niet worden opgemerkt. Waarom is het dan zo moeilijk om te begrijpen dat buitenaardsen regels hebben waardoor het hen verboden is om zichzelf en hun schepen te vertonen aan de mensheid.

Sceptici liegen zichzelf voor omdat wanneer ze zeggen dat het mogelijk een UFO kan zijn, hun hele wereld en eigenwaarde inelkaar valt en een bedreiging vormt voor alles wat ze ooit hebben geloofd.

Daarom houden ze zichzelf voor de gek en doen dat ook met anderen om de waarheid verborgen te houden. Dat geeft de sceptici troost, net zoals een teddybeer dat bij een kind doet. Wij weten de waarheid over sceptici en over buitenaardsen”.

Weer een jaar eerder, in 2014, is wat misschien wel de mooiste opname is, gemaakt.

Het antwoord lijkt te zien in de volgende video die is gemaakt in de Atacama woestijn in de buurt van de Chileense stad Calama.

Twee mijnarbeiders rijden in een auto en zien vreemde wolkformaties in de lucht. Eén van hen pakt zijn mobiele telefoon en begint te filmen.

Dan plotseling komt er uit deze wolk of wellicht moederschip een bij ons welbekende oranje-achtige bol tevoorschijn.

In de onderstaande video kun je duidelijk zien hoe deze bol tevoorschijn komt uit de wolk en vervolgens wegvliegt.

Hebben we hier te maken met een zogenaamd cloaked moederschip dat zich verborgen houdt in deze kunstmatig aandoende wolken en die de bollen als een soort verkenners op pad stuurt?

Het heeft er alle schijn van en daarmee is deze opname misschien wel het eerste stukje bewijs dat we in handen hebben wat laat zien waar deze oranje bollen vandaan komen.

Uiteraard ontstaan er dan altijd weer discussies of deze opname wel of niet echt is. Tot nu is er, voor zover ons bekend, geen informatie over dat de opname niet echt zou zijn.

Wat het ook is, één ding is zeker, er gebeuren meer dingen in de lucht boven onze hoofden dan de meeste mensen ooit zullen zien, behalve als het als een video op hun smartphone verschijnt, dan wel natuurlijk.

Vatican Telescope Records Alien Bases On Earths Moon, Nov 2019, UFO Sighting News.

I found some interesting alien structures on Earths moon in photos from the Vatican telescope. The photo is 26mb in size which easily shows a lot of detail that NASA often edits out. In the above screenshot I added yellow to the structures to make them stand out better. 

 

I recently emailed a Vatican astronomer asking if I could assist him in their research of finding such evidence. Chris Cobally kindly emailed me back saying, Hi Scott, Thank you for offering your services, but I've no need for finding such possible objects. Best wishes for your discoveries, Chris Corbally. 

 

It was kind of Chris to answer, but still I wondered...did he say he had no need for finding such things because...he already had found many alien structures with the Vatican telescope? So I decided to look at a few photos they took and see what they missed. Clearly there are two structures in this photo that were over looked. Once structure has a massive open doorway. The other is sitting inside a crater. both near the shadows to help hide them. 

 

Maybe in the next Dan Brown novel about the Vatican he will write about the Vatican and their knowledge of the existence of aliens, or maybe it too true to life.

Alien UFO Fleet Greets Shuttle Columbia Before Disaster Strikes, Video, UFO Sighting News.

Filmed during the STS 75 mission launched on Feb 22, 1996 when an entire UFO fleet shows up behind the space shuttle. The Columbia space shuttle was in orbit around earth when they noticed these diamond like craft shimmering below them. This was the 19th mission of the Shuttle Columbia...which means this shuttle was being watched by aliens closely due to them knowing the future of this spacecraft. You see, alien knew this shuttle would explode on its 28th mission, killing all seven crew members on Feb 1, 2003. Aliens are ancient and have been around millions of years before us, some billions of years. Time travel is just one of the doors opened when they discovered faster than light travel. 

So you ask why were they there? To show humanity that they are not alone, that risking their lives to explore space is worth it. That today we fly side by side with an alien species...united.

Most moon photos have been edited by NASA, but this full view of the moon is still in its raw unedited state. Its not often such a photo is found. So I saved it on Hard drive and if NASA takes it down, I will put it up myself.

Strange anomaly in the sky in Tunapuna near Trinidad

Does anybody know what it is?

And no, it is not a "Lenticular cloud.

For some reason, "Lenticular cloud" is what people always trot when there are strange clouds, even when they don't look anything like them. The most basic research shows this isn't one.

I've seen clouds reflect pink from the sky during sunset but usually, it's a uniform pink. This looks particularly odd because of the location of this formation and the lack of color uniformity.

A week ago on October 23, 2019, videographer Nick Bull from Stonehenge Dronescapes in the UK reported on YouTube this drone video of a mysterious green “ghost crop circle” that has mysteriously emerged in fresh-looking plants even though it’s the end of October.

Aliens could ‘invade’ our solar system using tiny robots and we might not even notice

Here on Earth, you know a country has been conquered when loads of tanks, attacks helicopters and burly great soldiers roll into town.

But aliens could ‘invade’ our solar system using tiny ‘micro-robots’ which astronomers would probably fail to spot unless they knew exactly what to look for.

A new study has revealed that it’s entirely possible an extraterrestrial civilisation has unleashed a massive squadron of microscopic probes which have spread out across the galaxy undetected.

Zaza Osmanov of the Free University of Tbilisi in Georgia has written a paper which discusses ‘extraterrestrial micro replicators’ called Von-Neumann probes that are capable of reproducing themselves.

Currently, the search for alien intelligence is focused on discovering huge ‘megastructures’ such as Dyson Spheres – hypothetical giant power stations built around stars to harvest their energy.

Osmanov suggested that advanced civilisations might actually build tiny machines to explore the galaxy and calculated how they would spread through a cloud of interstellar gas – the name for great billows of gas which exist between star systems.

‘The total number of probes might increase extremely rapidly ”invading” the whole region of an interstellar cloud,’ he wrote.

When we think of aliens invading a star system, it’s often assumed they would land on a planet and begin munching up its resources while enslaving or slaughtering its unfortunate inhabitants.

This approach might actually be counterproductive because it requires more energy and effort than unleashing swarms of robots.

‘Extraterrestrials would prefer to use micro-robots than large-scale macro probe,’ Osmanov continued.

‘Still there is a possibility to make the process of reproduction efficient but for that, the probes need to land on rocky planets.

‘This compared to the continuous process of replication of microdevices in interstellar clouds seems to be less efficient because landing on a planet and fleeing from it require special manoeuvring.’

Thankfully, if a horde of robots colonised a cloud in the Milky Way we would probably notice them.

Osmanov said ‘detection is quite realistic’ because the machines’ luminosity ‘might reach enormous values’, meaning they would give off enough light to be visible.

He wrote: ‘If one detects a strange object with extremely high values of luminosity increment, that might be a good sign to place the object in the list of extraterrestrial Von-Neumann probe candidates.’

The apparent contradiction between the likelihood of aliens existing in our gigantic universe and our inability to find them is called the Fermi Paradox.

This could be solved if we assume extraterrestrial technology is too small for us to spot using our current telescopes.

However, it’s perfectly possible that we are the only intelligent living creatures in the whole of space.

This week, a top British scientist has claimed that humanity could be alone in a vast universe that’s totally devoid of alien life.

Nick Longrich, a senior lecturer in palaeontology and evolutionary biology at the University of Bath, has said that the evolution of intelligent life on Earth (which means us, in case you’re wondering) is so spectacularly unlikely it may have happened just once.

In an article for The Conversation, he wrote: ‘Are we alone in the universe? It comes down to whether intelligence is a probable outcome of natural selection, or an improbable fluke.

[By definition, probable events occur frequently, improbable events occur rarely – or once. Our evolutionary history shows that many key adaptations – not just intelligence, but complex animals, complex cells, photosynthesis, and life itself – were unique, one-off events, and therefore highly improbable.

‘Our evolution may have been like winning the lottery … only far less likely.

‘The universe is astonishingly vast. The Milky Way has more than 100 billion stars, and there are over a trillion galaxies in the visible universe, the tiny fraction of the universe we can see. Even if habitable worlds are rare, their sheer number – there are as many planets as stars, maybe more – suggests lots of life is out there.

‘So where is everyone? This is the Fermi paradox. The universe is large, and old, with time and room for intelligence to evolve, but there’s no evidence of it.’

‘Could intelligence simply be unlikely to evolve? Unfortunately, we can’t study extraterrestrial life to answer this question. But we can study some 4.5 billion years of Earth’s history, looking at where evolution repeats itself, or doesn’t.’

To illustrate just how lucky our species has been to have evolved to our current state of intelligence, he sketched a vivid picture of evolution which shows how many lucky breaks life was given here on Earth.

He added: ‘Humans couldn’t evolve until fish evolved bones that let them crawl onto land. Bones couldn’t evolve until complex animals appeared. Complex animals needed complex cells, and complex cells needed oxygen, made by photosynthesis. None of this happens without the evolution of life, a singular event among singular events.

‘All organisms come from a single ancestor; as far as we can tell, life only happened once.

‘Curiously, all this takes a surprisingly long time. Photosynthesis evolved 1.5 billion years after the Earth’s formation, complex cells after 2.7 billion years, complex animals after 4 billion years, and human intelligence 4.5 billion years after the Earth formed. That these innovations are so useful but took so long to evolve implies that they’re exceedingly improbable.

‘These one-off innovations, critical flukes, may create a chain of evolutionary bottlenecks or filters. If so, our evolution wasn’t like winning the lottery. It was like winning the lottery again, and again, and again. On other worlds, these critical adaptations might have evolved too late for intelligence to emerge before their suns went nova, or not at all.

‘Imagine that intelligence depends on a chain of seven unlikely innovations – the origin of life, photosynthesis, complex cells, sex, complex animals, skeletons and intelligence itself – each with a 10% chance of evolving. The odds of evolving intelligence become one in 10 million.

‘But complex adaptations might be even less likely. Photosynthesis required a series of adaptations in proteins, pigments and membranes. Eumetazoan animals required multiple anatomical innovations (nerves, muscles, mouths and so on). So maybe each of these seven key innovations evolve just 1% of the time. If so, intelligence will evolve on just 1 in 100 trillion habitable worlds. If habitable worlds are rare, then we might be the only intelligent life in the galaxy, or even the visible universe.

‘And yet, we’re here. That must count for something, right? If evolution gets lucky one in 100 trillion times, what are the odds we happen to be on a planet where it happened? Actually, the odds of being on that improbable world are 100%, because we couldn’t have this conversation on a world where photosynthesis, complex cells, or animals didn’t evolve. That’s the anthropic principle: Earth’s history must have allowed intelligent life to evolve, or we wouldn’t be here to ponder it.

‘Intelligence seems to depend on a chain of improbable events. But given the vast number of planets, then like an infinite number of monkeys pounding on an infinite number of typewriters to write Hamlet, it’s bound to evolve somewhere. The improbable result was us.’

The Navy acknowledges UFOs — so why aren't they on Washington's radar?

In what could be a precursor to further stunning developments, the U.S. Navy has publicly acknowledged that the advanced aircraft depicted in several recently declassified gun-camera videos are UFOs, or what the Navy prefers to call “Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon” (UAPs). “The Navy designates the objects contained in these videos as unidentified aerial phenomena,” acknowledged Joseph Gradisher, spokesman for the deputy chief of naval operations, referring to the bizarre vehicles that have brazenly operated in restricted U.S. military airspace.

Strangely, this shocking announcement seems to have scarcely been noticed by Congress or the Trump administration. Is the information too jarring and radical to process? Are U.S. government officials in denial? One can only wonder, given the glaring disconnect between the Navy’s announcement and the limited government actions to protect U.S. military personnel and the nation as a whole.

The vehicles observed and recorded by U.S. Navy fighter pilots seem impervious to altitude or the elements; they are able to maneuver above 80,000 feet; they can hover and then instantly accelerate to supersonic and even hypersonic speeds; they have very low radar cross-sections and use a means of propulsion and control that does not appear to involve combustion, exhaust, rotors, wings or flaps.

Since the Navy asserts these are not U.S. aircraft, we are confronted by the daunting prospect that a potential adversary of the United States has achieved the ability to render our most sophisticated aircraft and air defense systems obsolete. Much like the Japanese reacting to the appearance of Admiral Perry’s steam-powered fleet in Tokyo Bay in the 1850s, it would seem a matter of utmost urgency to determine who is operating these craft, how they work and the intentions of those commanding them.

I’ve interviewed numerous active-duty and retired military personnel who have encountered these mysterious vehicles. Without exception they express grave concern for their colleagues and near disbelief that our government is not reacting more vigorously.

This situation is not altogether unprecedented. Some 60 years ago Americans were shocked when the Soviet Union orbited Sputnik, the world’s first artificial satellite. Sputnik garnered sustained front-page coverage, however, and Congress promptly acted on Americans’ concerns by approving increased space and defense expenditures and enhanced education programs for math and science. The concerns roused by Sputnik spurred America to enter “the space race.” The nation rallied to the cause and the commitment paid off when astronaut Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon a mere 12 years later.

Consider by contrast our government’s tepid response to the latest news about UAPs. Some congressional oversight committees have asked for and received briefings, but none has held a hearing, either open or closed; none has appropriated funds for collection or analysis; none has even asked for a report or a threat assessment. Nor have Congress members expressed concern over apparently being kept in the dark on this issue for years by the executive branch, a situation that changed only after a small private organization — To the Stars Academy of Arts and Sciences, which I advise on national security affairs — made Department of Defense gun-camera footage available to the press and to Congress.

Why are we not analyzing the vast quantities of data already collected by America’s vast sensor networks, already bought and paid for, to see what light that data might shed on the issue? Government paralysis is something we’ve grown accustomed to on domestic matters but, when it affects national security as well, we truly are a nation at risk.

Indeed, examination of major US intelligence failures — from Pearl Harbor to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and Iraqi WMD — shows that, in each case, we had information that, properly analyzed and acted upon, could have prevented disaster. We’re at a similar place today, with ample warning lights flashing but no effective effort to pool relevant data from the myriad services and agencies that possess it.

The National Reconnaissance Office, Defense Intelligence Agency, CIA, Air Force and Navy, FBI and National Security Agency — there is no place in the U.S. government where all UAP information comes together. In that regard, the present situation is akin to counterterrorism before the establishment of the National Counterterrorism Center. Thankfully, new military spending is not required; we simply need to implement an effective strategy for collection and analysis using existing resources.

President Eisenhower, renowned for his military accomplishments as well as his valuable warning about the military-industrial complex, gave a speech in 1958 in my hometown of Ligonier, Pa., commemorating the 200th anniversary of Fort Ligonier. Referring to the Americans who settled the frontier, he said: “They were not turned back by terror of the unknown; they did not succumb to the tensions and privations encountered beyond the fringes of civilization. They moved ahead as companions in adventure, well-knowing that danger is often the inseparable partner of progress and honor.”

Thankfully, most of us no longer suffer the intense hardships and privations our forebears endured. However, we must still confront the unknown. Policymakers should pay close attention to the experiences of U.S. military personnel, investigate thoroughly, and respond effectively. If they fail to do so, our country may again pay a tragic price.
