UFO expert claims aliens 'levitated into bedroom and talked to him telepathically'
Alien abductions investigator James Bartley says he has been fascinated by the subject of abductions since the age of four when aliens levitated into his bedroom and communicated telepathically

A UFO investigator claims he was first abducted by aliens who levitated and floated into his bedroom when he was just four years old and talked to him "telepathically".
James Bartley has been researching alien abductions ever since and he said on a different occasion he was taken by thre extraterrestrial beings who had claws for hands.
He went on to suggest the "alien invasion has already begun" and the Earth is under control by "more than one alien race, with the reptilians being one of them".
James told Chris Thrall's Bought the T-Shirt podcast: "I had an encounter in my bedroom. It was a small being, I'd say about three-and-a-half feet high.

"It levitated, it floated into my bedroom. I turn around and there's this little critter who's just floating there.
"It wasn't a case of me being frightened, it was a case of me being very territorial. The implication being this is my stuff, this is my room, these are my toys.
"It telepathically talked to me and told me a few things. That was my first experience that I'm aware of.
James said this experience sparked his lifelong interest in aliens and UFOs.
But the American researcher claims to have had an even more terrifying experience when he was an adult, when "three reptilians with claws instead of hands" turned up in his bedroom and took him onboard their craft.
He said: "In the 1990s I had a string of experiences which culminated in a full-blown, full-waking consciousness experience when I woke up and I found three reptilians in my bedroom, but instead of normal hands they had clawed hands.
"I woke up to find three of those in my bedroom.
"They took me up into their big craft and things unravelled from there. The next morning I was a basket case as you can imagine."
James claims the Earth is already under attack from an "alien invasion by probably more than one alien race".
He said: "The (alien invasion) has already occurred. These non-human beings have covertly and not so covertly guided the development of our civilisation.
"I already feel that humans are under control by probably more than one alien race, the reptilians being one of the usual suspects.
"One time on Earth the dominant religion was serpent worship. The existence of these reptilians is coded in numerous languages."
James said that people who claim to have been subjected to alien abductions such as himself are "skittish and afraid of certain parts of the house".
He also said he was once knocked out by an alien who ambushed him and burst out from a wardrobe.
James added: "Some of the investigations I did in Southern California there were literally reptilian beings coming out of these wardrobes into a children's bedroom.
"We had encounters with alien beings. On one occasion I woke up and there was a very large dark being standing above me.
"It was a reptilian for lack of a better term. I was immobilised, I couldn't speak, I couldn't move.
"On another occasion I woke up with a start because I heard some rustling. Next thing I know I was struck on both sides of my face and knocked out. For two weeks after that I had a really sore face.
"This group of reptilians was coming up from this underground base that they lived at. The one that punched me out was only three or four feet high. We call them baby Godzillas."

British Inmates Witnessed a UFO and Then Developed a Mysterious Rash
Several prisoners reported seeing a UFO hovering over the jail where they are currently incarcerated and then a mysterious red rash appeared on their skin. In fact, one of the inmates stated that he never believed in UFOs or aliens until this incident and that he was left “speechless” after the encounter. The sighting occurred at HMP The Verne in Dorset, England.
The inmate wrote a letter to a prison magazine called Inside Times that read in part, “I do not believe in the supernatural or aliens from Mars, but what we recently saw here in this prison was really very strange and still leaves me speechless.”
He went on to explain the encounter, “My landing was out on exercise, all doing our own thing, some were working out and others, like me, were walking around, you get the picture.” “I spotted a hawk up on the battlements, just hovering like it had spotted a mouse or something.” At that point, he claimed, a “very bright light” appeared in the sky. “This object started to come closer and closer until it was actually hovering over our exercise area at about 100 or so foot above us.”
And he wasn’t the only one who witnessed the strange object as he wrote, “We were, by this time, all, including officers, standing with our heads tilted back and looking up at this strange thing.” “Then the object started to shrink and collapse in on itself until it sort of just dissolved into a cloud of mist.”
Incredibly, liquid began coming down from the sky which had very disturbing after-effects, “Then it started raining on us and, the next day, we all came out in a red rash.”
It’s still unclear as to what the mysterious object was but the inmate who wrote the letter stated that it could have possibly been a secret military craft from a base that’s located not too far away. But others have different theories as he noted, “I have heard many different explanations from different men.” “Some say there is a military base on Portland and that this could have been some sort of military ‘Black Project’.” “Others say it was ball lightning. I don’t know what it was except it was very strange.” And of course, the idea of it being extraterrestrial in nature has also been hypothesized.
It would be bad enough spending time behind bars without having to deal with a mysterious rash from an alleged UFO encounter.
PERSEVERANCE: WATCH THE ROVER LOOK FOR “BUBBLES” OF LIFE
The rover is drilling its way through Mars, one rock at a time.
AFTER SPENDING more than 200 sols on Mars, NASA’s Perseverance rover finally made a friend.
The car-sized robot collected its first two samples from the Red Planet after drilling through a rock nicknamed Rochette. These chalk-sized samples may hold clues to the universe’s most burning question: Is there life beyond Earth?
That’s one of the overarching goals of the Perseverance mission, which will spend at least one Martian year (around 687 Earth days) roaming Jezero Crater in search of intriguing clues to Mars’ watery past. Around 3 billion years ago, Mars was likely covered in rivers and shallow seas. During that time, it could potentially have had the right conditions for life to arise.
NASA released a series of images showing Rochette the rock before Perseverance drilled into it and after, revealing the two holes where the rover’s drill left a mark.
Using its Wide Angle Topographic Sensor for Operations and eNgineering instrument, or WATSON, the robot photographed this special moment on August 27 as it first got to know Rochette the rock.
Perseverance had just scraped away a circular piece of the rock that the team nicknamed Bellegarde. The patch is about 0.39 inches deep and about 2 inches wide.
But the rover was just getting started.
After a few days by Rochette’s side, Perseverance drilled its first hole in the Martian rock on September 1. The hole itself was nicknamed Montdenier, and it produced Perseverance’s first-ever Martian sample.
This marked the rover’s second attempt at collecting a piece of the Red Planet and the first successful one. Earlier in August, Perseverance attempted to collect a sample of Martian rock but ended up pulverizing the sample into tiny bits.
Perseverance collects the samples using a drill attached to the robot's arm.
The samples move through the robot's belly and into the Adaptive Caching Assembly System, where they are sealed in an airtight titanium sample tube.
On September 7, Perseverance drilled its second hole in Rochette. This time, the hole was nicknamed Montagnac to go along with the theme of places in France.

Rochette the rock is basaltic, which means that it may have formed from lava flows. Crystalline minerals in volcanic rock can help scientists accurately date when the rock formed and could provide a timeline of Mars’ history and how its climate changed billions of years ago.
The rock samples also revealed salts, which may have resulted from groundwater flowing through the rocks and altering their composition or liquid water evaporating and leaving its salts behind.
The salt in the rocks could have also trapped tiny bubbles of ancient Martian water that scientists can analyze once the samples make it back to Earth.
“It looks like our first rocks reveal a potentially habitable sustained environment,” Ken Farley, project scientist for the Perseverance mission, said in a statement. “It’s a big deal that the water was there a long time.”
Perseverance carries 43 titanium sample tubes and is supposed to collect at least 20 samples from Mars during its 687 Earth day mission on Mars.
Once it has collected its samples, Perseverance will leave them behind on Mars for that pickup mission planned for sometime in the 2030s. The mission's goal is to bring the Martian samples to Earth, where they can be analyzed in a lab, revealing clues to ancient microbial life that may have lived on Mars during its early history.

Penguins may be aliens, say scientists, after traces of a chemical from Venus were found in the birds’ poop.
Scientists cannot explain how phosphine exists on Earth – 38 million miles away from Venus.
They plan to study the lifestyle of gentoo penguins – common in the Falkland Islands – to find out how they produce the chemical.
Dr Dave Clements, of Imperial College, London, said: “We’re convinced the phosphine finding is real. But we don’t know what’s making it.
“There are some anaerobic bacteria that produce phosphine.
“It’s found in pond slime and the guts of badgers and penguin guano.”
He added: “It may be to do with defence or signalling against competing bacteria.”
Last year traces of the chemical were found in layers of gas surrounding Venus which has a similar atmosphere to Earth.
The new research is being conducted ahead of the launch of the James Webb space telescope from French Guiana on December 18 that could detect life on other planets, according to Nasa.
UK scientists believe alien lifeforms may have already been detected, and studying penguins could help them identify the types of organisms that exist in other worlds.
The James Webb telescope will study deep space for Nasa as its main observatory over the coming years.
The project is a collaboration between Nasa, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.
Nasa's programme director Gregory L. Robinson said the ambitious telescope launch could change how we see deep space forever.
He said: “Webb is an exemplary mission that signifies the epitome of perseverance.
“I am inspired by our dedicated team and our global partnerships that have made this incredible endeavour possible.
"Together, we’ve overcome technical obstacles along the way as well as challenges during the coronavirus pandemic.
"Now that we have an observatory and a rocket ready for launch, I am looking forward to the big day and the amazing science to come.”
Are Gentoo Penguins Aliens? A Chemical in Their Guano May Prove It
There is no doubt that octopuses are one of the strangest creatures on Earth – so strange and intelligent for deep-sea cephalopod that some serious scientists have suggested they might be aliens. There is no doubt that flightless yet aquatic penguins are one of the strangest birds on the planet … you see where this is going. Scientists studying gentoo penguins have discovered that they produce a chemical recently detected on Venus and they’re wondering … could penguins have migrated to Earth from its cloudy neighbor or another planet?

Do I look like an alien to you?
Dr. David Clements, a Natural Science and Physics professor at Imperial College London, says in The Daily Star that phosphine, an extremely flammable and toxic gas compound with the chemical formula PH3 that was recently detected on Venus, has been found in the feces of gentoo penguins (Pygoscelis papua), a species found primarily in the Falkland Islands and most known for their loud trumpeting sounds which they make with their heads thrown back like a marching band horn player. You may recall that astronomers in Hawaii and Chile detected the chemical signature of phosphine high in the atmosphere of Venus in September 2020 – a potential “this changes everything” find because phosphine on Earth is only associated with life forms.
Dr. David Clements was also involved with that research and cautioned at the time:
“It’s not a smoking gun. It’s not even gunshot residue on the hands of your prime suspect, but there is a distinct whiff of cordite in the air which may be suggesting something.”
It may not have been a smoking gun – and other scientists agreed that the phosphine on Venus could have been generated by a chemical process – but that hasn’t stopped Clements and others from continuing to study gentoo guano for hints into how gentoos create the unusual chemical … not to mention how they survive making and excreting it other than staying away from matches and open flames. The Daily Star is not considered to be a scientific journal but it appears to be the primary source reporting on this research, which it notes is connected to the upcoming December launch of the James Webb telescope which will expand by magnitudes our ability to search for life in the galaxy. Does this mean astronomers will be looking for extraterrestrial gentoo penguins?

Bizarre Cases of UFO Car Chases
One place where UFOs seem to be frequently encountered is on the lonely roads and highways of our world. These objects seem to be drawn to such desolate places, and there are numerous stories of UFOs stopping cars or even abducting people from such places. One subspecies of such encounters is that of vehicles that have been involved with chasing or being chased by these mysterious objects, and here we will look at some strange cases of this.
On the evening of August 4, 1963, 18-year old Ronnie Austin and his girlfriend, Phyllis Bruce were driving along Route 15 heading towards Wayne City, Illinois, after a trip to Mt. Vernon. At some point, at around 11:30 p.m., they noticed a large, glowing white object moving along nearby at treetop level, which they soon noticed seemed to be following them. When they slowed down, so did it, and when they sped up it gave pursuit, eerily keeping pace with them much to their astonishment. On several occasions, the UFO came very close to the vehicle, only to speed off and follow once again, and it pursued the terrified couple all the way to Phyllis’ house, where her family saw it as well. Once there, it went off to hover over a nearby electronic relay tower, where it remained motionless for a time. At this point, Ronnie decided to make a run for it, and things would get even stranger from there. Francis Ridge, who was at the time a field investigator and the subcommittee chairman of National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) would later investigate the case, and said of what happened next:
As soon as he pulled away from the Bruce home, the object began to follow. In our interview with the boy’s father (Orville) on August 12, he told us that this is what scared Ronnie, the thought that the UFO was waiting for him to be alone before it took off after him. He had to head south and the object was on his left now. When he turned east onto another gravel road, the object suddenly shot diagonally ahead of him over a barn about a mile away, just beyond the T-road. The object now changed from a brilliant white to a duller or dimmer light with an orange tinge.
Ronnie said he “really poured the coal” to the car and must have been doing 120 mph when he topped the hill on the gravel road. Then, he reported, the object flared bright orange and came straight toward him at high speed. It hovered over the car, within 100′. Just before it hovered it had swerved upward and Ronnie judged its size as that of an automobile. At the point right over the car his radio (tuned to WLS) went crazy with static, which was described as a loud whining sound. At that time, he noticed a “cooling effect”. The object made another pass at the car, this time west to east, and at this point where the object was again overhead, the engine of the car started missing. The object proceeded back to its position over the barn, hovered, changed to a duller orange. This small road running east to west is only about a mile long and the events that took place according to the witness indicates an increase in activity by the object, which really had the boy scared by now.
Ronnie now turned north at the intersection (extension of road not shown) and headed for home which was over 3 miles away. The object followed him again. As he headed west down the lane leading to his home, the object cut across the road behind him to the left. He spun his car around in the driveway in front of the house, got out of the car and ran inside. The object was now above another farmhouse in the east about 300 yards away.
He would then tell his father, Orville Austin, of what was happening, who grabbed a shotgun and ran to the door to see it for himself. The object then moved towards the house to loom nearby, and realizing that the weapon wouldn’t do too much good, Orville put it down, closed the door, and turned off the lights. They then called the police, who arrived to see the object too, and several neighbors also saw it. It would lurk about the vicinity for nearly an hour, its intentions unknown, before speeding off into the night. According to subsequent news reports and Ridge’s report, Ronnie’s car would be found to have higher radiation levels than normal, and he would also claim that the Air Force had done an investigation into it, after which they had swept it under the carpet. Ridge would say of this:
Evidence gathered by the Air Force indicates that the car was slightly radioactive or magnetized. This was determined by the type of readings called off by members of the AF team as the family watched and listened. An interesting historical note for the record, the Air Force team consisted of three men. These were Lt. Col. Robert J. Friend, then the Director of Project Blue Book; Capt. Hector Quintanilla, and Sgt. Charles R. Sharp. Later in the year or early in 1964, Quintanilla became the Project Director. The AF, and especially Quintanilla, were ridiculing many witnesses who claimed sightings of UFOs. The “explanation” issued after the investigation was “a refueling operation” or the “planet Venus. The AF must have considered this case important. They had flown in the special team of physicists from Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. Normally, when investigating a case, they would send the local “UFO officer” from the nearest airbase. In this case it would have been Scott AFB at Belleville, Illinois (near St. Louis). Something strange was going on in the midwest, and AF Intelligence was interested in something that “didn’t exist.” A quick check would have eliminated a refueling operation and the need for an onsite.
The following year, on June 29, 1964, a man named Beauford E. Parham was driving home near Lavonia, Georgia, in the United States, when he was startled to see a very bright light approaching him from directly ahead. As it drew nearer, he could see that it was “a top-shaped object,” about 6 feet high and 8 feet wide, spinning and “emitting a hissing sound like a million snakes,” and there were flames spewing from several portholes around it. The mysterious object then stopped right in front of him, matching his speed, seeming to toy with him, and at this point, Parham would say that he was in some sort of daze that had washed over him. It then made several passes at him, emitting a mist or vapor of some sort, before passing right over the car to disappear. Parham would later develop a burning sensation in his arms, and noticed that the paint on his car in some spots had bubbled up as if subjected to high heat. What was going on here? We’ll probably never know.

Another very spectacular encounter allegedly happened on April 17, 1966, and involved police officers. In the early morning hours of that day, at around 5 a.m., deputies Dale Spaur and Wilbur ‘Barney’ Neff, with the Portage County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Department were on patrol near the town of Ravena, Ohio, when they noticed a strange lighted object coming up over some trees from a nearby wood and experienced a deep hum like “an overloaded transformer.” Spaur would explain of what they saw:
When I looked in this wooded area behind us, I saw this thing. At this time, it was coming up… to about tree top level. I’d say about one hundred feet. It started moving toward us. As it came over the trees, I looked at Barney and he was still watching the car, and he didn’t say nothing and the thing kept getting brighter and the area started to get light. It was very bright; it’d make your eyes water. I told him to look over his shoulder, and he did. He just stood there with his mouth open for a minute, as bright as it was, and he looked down. And I started looking down and I looked at my hands and my clothes weren’t burning or anything, when it stopped right over on top of us. I was petrified, and, uh, so I moved my right foot, and everything seemed to work all right. And evidently, he made the same decision I did, to get something between me and it, or us and it, or whatever you would say. So we both went for the car, we got in the car and we sat there.

When they reported it, their sergeant then told them to pursue the object, and they proceeded to chase it through the countryside as it headed over the road, illuminating the ground beneath it as it did. It was moving at a brisk pace, travelling at around 100 mph and still pulling ahead as the two officers tried to keep up with it, with other police officers joining in the pursuit as they did. Police Officer Wayne Huston of East Palestine, Ohio, near the Pennsylvania border, saw the UFO pass with the police chasing it sirens blaring, and he joined in as well, tearing off after it along with the others. They chased it for nearly 85 miles, with numerous patrol cars from different jurisdictions chasing it, and then it suddenly stopped to hover there over the road as they all screeched to a halt. There was allegedly chatter that the Air Force was scrambling fighter jets, and then the object just shot straight up into the sky at breathtaking speed. The Air Force would quickly step in to brush it all off in typical clumsy fashion, and UFO researcher Richard Hall would say of this:
The Air Force “identified” the UFO as a satellite, seen part of the time, and confused with the planet Venus. Under pressure from Ohio officials, Major Hector Quintanilla, chief of PROJECT BLUE BOOK, had an acrimonious confrontation with witnesses and refused to change the identification, although it was pointed out to him that they had seen the UFO in addition to Venus, and the moon at the conclusion of the observation. Major Quintanilla also denied that any jets had been scrambled. William B. Weitzel conducted an exhaustive investigation on behalf of the NATIONAL INVESTIGATIONS COMMITTEE ON AERIAL PHENOMENA (NICAP), obtaining taped interviews, signed statements, sketches, and all pertinent data which was assembled into a massive report that was made available to congressional investigators. When the UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO UFO PROJECT was initiated in 1966, a copy of Weitzel’s report was hand-delivered to the director, Dr. Edward U. CONDON, for his consideration. The CONDON REPORT, published two years later, does not mention the case.
From 1967, we have a case from the UK, which supposedly played out October 24, 1967 somewhere between Okehampton and Holsworthy, in Devon, England, and involved two police constables by the names of Clifford Waycott and Roger Willey. While they were driving along on patrol, they saw a “pulsating flying cross” that was “star-spangled – just like looking through wet glass,” and was moving about just over the tree line beside the road. They decided to pursue the object, which immediately started accelerating away from them as they sped along, reaching speeds of up to 90 mph before they gave up for fear of getting in an accident and the object sped off into the night to join a second object that appeared. The report was corroborated by a farmer in the area who also saw the spectacle, and others in the immediate area began calling in with reports of seeing the same “fiery cross,” suggesting that the bizarre flying object was lurking about for some time. The case, which would be mentioned in UFO Flying Saucers over Britain, by Robert Chapman, has never been explained.
Perhaps one of the strangest UFO chases of all comes from 1988, in Australia. On January 20, 1988, Faye Knowles, her adult sons Patrick (24), Sean (21) and Wayne (18), and their two dogs were making their way towards Melbourne, Australia across a vast expanse of limestone bedrock called the Nullarbor Plain. The area is a remote desert moonscape of a place, with no one around for miles and other cars a rarity, so it was considered odd when in the very early morning hours a light was spotted some distance ahead, just outside of the tiny town of Mundrabilla. The light seemed to get steadily brighter as they watched it, and as they got closer they could see that it was semi-spherical or egg shaped and was most certainly not another vehicle as it was just a single bright light and seemed to be hovering in the air over that desolate expanse.
As the family struggled to comprehend what they were seeing, the strange object allegedly emitted a beam of light that swept towards their vehicle and caused the driver, Sean, to take evasive maneuvers. The beam missed the car, but this is when Sean would claim the object had begun to follow them down that lonely roadway, easily keeping pace with them no matter how fast they went. They apparently passed another car going the other direction, after which the mysterious object stopped pursuing them and followed the other vehicle. Sean the reportedly turned the car around to follow the other car and its UFO pursuer to figure out what was going on, but thought better of it and turned around yet again. The object then must have decided to go after them again, because it was soon ominously closing in on them once again.
It purportedly got brighter and closer, passing them a few times to circle around to approach again before positioning itself right above their car as the terrified family within screamed out in fright. There was then a thump on the roof, and the car slowed down as if something very heavy were sitting atop it, leading them to the horrible realization that it had actually lowered itself to make contact with the vehicle. According to the witnesses, it then issued a shrill, ear piercing sound, and Faye would say that they were overcome with the sense of something invading their minds, later saying, “It felt like something was going into our heads,” and Patrick would say “I felt like my brain was being sucked out.” They also claimed that their voices became distorted and that they moved sluggishly, as if underwater or experiencing a slowing of time itself. Things would intensify when they then felt the car physically lift off of the road, after which they were shaken violently from side to side as a grey mist filled the car and dropped back down with such force that it blew one of their tires and disabled the vehicle to leave to leave it lying in that unforgiving place like a wounded beast. Fay Knowles would say of the otherworldly encounter:
I wound down the window and I felt this thing on the roof… all of this smoke stuff started coming into the car, the car was covered in black stuff. It was a small light and all of a sudden it became big like this, like a big ball. We thought we were dying, then we got out the car and we hid behind a little tree and the bushes and it couldn’t find us.
When the cowering family were sure the object was gone, they warily went back to their car, changed the tire, and got out of there as fast as they could, eventually making their way to Mundrabilla, where they excitedly told of what had happened to them. Interestingly, a trucker at the gas station there would tell them that he had also seen the strange, eerie light out over the desert as well. When their car was examined, it was found to be banged up, and both the exterior and interior covered with a fine film of black material like soot or ash that had an unusual odor like “a blown fuse.” The Knowles were able to get some truckers to go with them out to where the incident had supposedly occurred, where they allegedly found odd skid marks on the road that seemed to show that the vehicle has been dragged sideways by some powerful force, making it all even stranger.
The police would subsequently examine the vehicle to find a grey powder that was found to have a similar chemical composition to the coating used on NASA space shuttles. Oddly, the South Australia police were apparently very eager to distance themselves from it all, finish the investigation, and sweep it under the carpet, and the whole case was just sort of filed away even as it was hitting the news in a big way. And that was that. The rather harrowing case has been picked apart by Ufologists and skeptics ever since, but no clear answer has ever been agreed upon. What happened to this family out on that bleak stretch of road? What forces came calling for them to follow them around and terrorize them? No one really knows.

NASA Scientist Weighs in on the Existence of Extraterrestrials
What does NASA think about the existence of extraterrestrials? NASA is a huge government organization with a lot of different opinions that are tempered by public relations people who work hard to keep any secrets from leaking out … but sometimes they do. The search for extraterrestrial intelligence falls under the department of astrobiology, so it seems appropriate that NASA astrobiologist Dr. Lindsay Hays answered the question, “Do Aliens Exist?” on an official NASA Instagram page. Does that make it NASA’s official stance? Let’s find out.
“Do aliens exist? Extraterrestrial life has never been discovered. However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.”
In 90 seconds (that’s not a good sign that this will be a profound, in-depth and potentially this-changes-everything kind of answer), Dr. Hays takes a quick trip to Mars, where humans have done the most on-site exploring for life, and to other planets and their moons where life probably has a better chance due to an abundance of water. She then expands the definition of life on Earth to expand all of the way down to microbes, pointing out that this means every square inch of the planet is covered in life, while arguing that our definition of life on Earth is changing so our definition of extraterrestrial life must change too. And if we expand the definition of life, that leads to new ideas on the definition of ‘habitable’.
“Not just in our solar system, the more exo-planets we find around other stars, the more we learn about how many environments could exist for life.”
If you haven’t figured it out by now, this is pretty much just 90 seconds of fluff (watch it on YouTube) with nothing concrete that we could hold NASA to, and nothing anywhere near an everything-changing leak.
If you haven’t been convinced up until that point, Dr. Hays closes, not with the comments of an astronaut or a current fellow astrobiologist studying the Mars rocks – she quotes Carl Sagan instead.
“The universe is a pretty big place. If it’s just us it seems like an awful waste of space.”
That’s true. Unfortunately, the same could be said of this 90 second commentary on the NASA Instagram page. Nothing personal, Dr. Hays. You probably had much more you wanted to say, but your bosses were dangling your paycheck in front of you. One of these days, a NASA scientist will break out of the shackles and expose the truth. In the meantime, we would be wise to look at some of the other things Carl Sagan said about our lack of knowledge about space and science.
“We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.”
“We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.”

We Knew Black Holes Have a Temperature. It Turns out They Also Have a Pressure
In the classical theory of general relativity, black holes are relatively simple objects. They can be described by just three properties: mass, charge, and rotation. But we know that general relativity is an incomplete theory. Quantum mechanics is most apparent in the behavior of tiny objects, but it also plays a role in large objects such as black holes. To describe black holes at a quantum level, we need a theory of quantum gravity. We don’t have a complete theory yet, but what know so far is that quantum mechanics makes black holes more complex, giving them properties such as temperature and perhaps even pressure.
Temperature is perhaps the best known quantum property of a black hole. Because of the fuzziness of quantum particles, energy cannot be completely bound by a black hole’s event horizon. Sometimes energy can escape its gravitational prison through a process known as Hawking radiation. The amount of energy that escapes is tiny, but it means that black holes have a (very cold) temperature. And that means black holes can be described in terms of the laws of thermodynamics. For regular matter, thermodynamics describes not just the temperature of an object, but also properties such as pressure. That’s where this new study comes in.
The team was looking at a thermodynamical property known as entropy. Entropy is a subtle concept, often described as a measure of the disorder of a system or the amount of information needed to describe a system. It relates to the temperature of an object through the second law of thermodynamics. In black holes, entropy is related to the surface area of an event horizon. Physicists study black hole entropy because it could help us answer fundamental questions in quantum gravity, such as whether a black hole can destroy information.
So the team was applying entropy equations to a simple black hole, trying to figure out what happens when you extend Einstein’s equations into quantum theory, which is a common trick known as the semi-classical approach. When they did this, they kept getting strange extra terms in their equations that they didn’t expect. These terms didn’t make sense until the team looked at them in terms of pressure. It turns out the extra terms act like pressure for a black hole in the same way that gas atoms in a container create pressure. In other words, when you apply quantum theory to a black hole, you get both temperature and pressure.
As with Hawking temperature, this quantum pressure for a black hole is extremely tiny. It’s far too small to affect the kinds of black holes we see in the universe. But the fact that it exists could have real consequences for the most extreme regions of the cosmos, such as the big bang. This particular model is too simple to apply to real systems, but it is an interesting clue toward a more complete theory of quantum gravity.

A solar superstorm might knock out the Internet sometime soon so hurry up and read this before that happens
Day-to-day life in the 21st century is a pretty pleasantly predictable affair; chief among the most predictable things is that the Internet will exist, and work, and be readily accessible all day long.
But scientists are warning that that may not always be the case:
Imagine if one day the internet was down not just in your neighbourhood, but across the globe, knocked out by a threat from space: an enormous solar superstorm.
It sounds like science fiction, but a new study says it could become our reality earlier than we think if we don't prepare properly for the next time the sun spits a wave of magnetized plasma at us.
Astrophysicists estimate the likelihood of a solar storm of sufficient strength to cause catastrophic disruption occurring within the next decade to be 1.6 — 12 per cent," the study states.

Tesla recently released the 10th version of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software feature, an optional $10,000 add-on that allows its vehicles to take care of a good deal of driving — but not all of it, as the name deceptively suggests.
And the feature may have yet another quirky ability hidden up its sleeve, as Tesla CEO Elon Musk suggested on Twitter this week.
“FSD 10 predicts height from video pixels directly, without needing to classify groups of pixels into objects,” Musk explained in the tweet. “In principle, even if a UFO crashed on the road right in front of you, it would still avoid the debris. ”
Musk also couldn’t help himself, donning a tinfoil hat for some tongue-in-cheek humor.
“I’m not saying there are UFOs… but there are UFOs,” he wrote in a followup tweet, drawing a hailstorm of sarcastic comments, and theories from the Twittersphere.
Tesla may have made some big advances in its self-driving tech, but the software hasn’t always been able to spot the occasional — and obvious — roadway obstruction. Last month, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a formal investigation into the carmaker over its self-driving feature causing collisions with with emergency response vehicles.
Whether the new FSD beta will solve those issues remains to be seen. The beta is still limited to a restricted number of early testers.
In a tweet last month, Musk claimed that Tesla is “aiming for 1000 percent safer than the average human driver.” But the proof is in the pudding — the same goes for the existence of alien UFOs.

The duties of the new office — which will take over from the Unidentified Aerial — Phenomenon Task Force will include developing standardised procedures to collect and analyse reported of UFOs across the Department of Defense.
Staff will also evaluate 'links between unidentified aerial phenomena and adversarial foreign governments, other foreign governments, or nonstate actors.' along with 'evaluating the threat that such incidents present to the United States.'

The billionaire founder of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk has claimed that "there are UFOs" in his latest Twitter outburst.
Responding to a Tesla owner's video test of the car's 'full self-driving' functionality, Elon Musk explained that his cars can avoid any obstacles from up above - even UFOs.
"In principle, even if a UFO crashed on the road right in front of you, it would still avoid the debris," Musk wrote.
He continued: "I'm not saying there are UFOs... but there are UFOs."
Musk's comments sparked a frenzy on Twitter, with many people using it as an opportunity to share UFO memes and quiz Musk on his previous claims about being an alien extraterrestrial.

One user, Feni_Sam, said "Does anyone else feel like they could just talk to Elon about some of his tweets. Sometimes I feel like his tweets just create way more questions than I have answers for."
Other users saw Musk's comments as confirmation of what they already suspected: that the truth is out there.
One said: "Yes, there are [UFOs]. Saw some in 1993. About 15 to 20 of them. We aren't alone.
"No one can convince me other wise because I've known since I was 4 and you don't forget things like I've experienced. You do get shunned but whatever."
Earlier this year, Musk sent fans into a meltdown by claiming he is an alien. In a video, Musk said that the existence of aliens "is one of the great questions in physics and philosophy".
When asked on Twitter if he himself is an alien, Musk then wrote: "Of course". However, he later said that there are "no signs" of other life.
Musk's self-described greatest ambition is to "make life multiplanetary", and has previously vowed to sell off all of his possessions and houses in order to found a Mars colony with his company SpaceX by 2050.
He could get humans there sooner than that, however. Later today, the first all-civilian spaceflight will be taking place on a SpaceX rocket - you can watch it live at 20:45PM on SpaceX's YouTube.

Much as the earlier, original 'moon suits' were tested here in the 1960s
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- NASA recently tested new spacesuits designed for a return to the moon and future Mars exploration at a number of natural sites in special spots around Central Oregon and nearby.
Dr. Pascal Lee, director of NASA's Haughton-Mars project, led the testing effort in Oregon late last month.
"We thought this was really fitting, because we do have a spacesuit to test, and we are going back to the moon, so we came to Oregon,” Lee said Monday.
Came back, that is.
Apollo astronauts trained and tested their spacesuits in Oregon during the 1960s because the natural volcanic landscape closely resembles the moon.
He said they haven't been back to Oregon to see how helpful it really was, until now.
"We were blown away by the quality of all of them,” Lee said.
A crew of about 10 people came to Oregon to test the new suits at some of those same sites, which includes Lava Butte, the Big Obsidian Lava Flow, Fort Rock, Hole in the Ground and the Yapoah Lava Flow at McKenzie Pass.

They also visited a number of new sites to prepare for NASA’'s next mission to the moon's south polar highlands -- and eventually Mars.
The new sites included Pumice Slope at Crater Lake National Park, the Painted Hills at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Skylight Cave and Little Nash Crater.
"In case you didn't know, Oregon has really beautiful analog sites for the moon, and also for Mars,” Lee said.
The reason they're testing new sites like Starlight Cave is because for the first time ever, they're testing spacesuits designed specifically for caves.

Lee said they are defining requirements for what future spacesuits may need for cave exploration.
"We want -- there's a few other things I can't really talk about, but it was good,” Lee said with a big grin.
Another change being tested in the new suits is the addition of electronics.
The suits are being designed to display GPS maps, show heart rates, respond to voice commands and assist with detailed image sampling. Just what you'd expect from a 21st century spacesuit.
"Things that will make doing spacewalks on the moon and on Mars safer down the road,” Lee said. “This type of tech has to be tested in an actual realistic field environment, so that's why we came to Oregon."
Lee hopes the suits will be used on the moon within the next decade, and said this was a promising first step.
"The details are going to be written up in technical papers and journals, but the upshot is that it works really well, it works beautifully.” Lee said.
Lee said he could see astronauts exploring Mars by the mid 2030s, and hopes to do some more testing in Oregon before then.
"If you could only take astronauts to train them in five places on earth, Oregon, in my view, would be in the top five,” Lee said.
NASA's Hubble Telescope spots rare object that looks like a space lightsaber
That's no lightsaber. It's a Herbig–Haro object.
Herbig-Haro objects have dramatic origin stories. "Newly formed stars are often very active, and in some cases they expel very narrow jets of rapidly moving ionized gas — gas that is so hot that its molecules and atoms have lost their electrons, making the gas highly charged," said ESA. "The streams of ionized gas then collide with the clouds of gas and dust surrounding newly formed stars at speeds of hundreds of kilometers per second."
NASA is the agency that first clued me into how Herbig–Haro objects can look like lightsabers in space. In 2015, NASA shared a Hubble view of Herbig-Haro Jet HH24 just ahead of the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, calling it a "double-bladed lightsaber" with a "Jedi-like cloak of dust."

Is this the Face of Krijn, the First Neanderthal of The Netherlands?
The first-ever Neanderthal found in The Netherlands, who scientists call Krijn, has now been brought more fully to life . A pair of “paleo-artists” who specialize in making life-like reconstructions of fossilized specimens have provided the Dutch National Museum of Antiquities ( Rijksmuseum van Oudheden ) with a sculpted version of this young Neanderthal’s face. The Kennis Brothers, who are based in Arnhem in the Netherlands, have chosen to portray Krijn with a big smile, which counteracts the usual dour image of our long-extinct evolutionary cousins.
When a piece of skull bone from a Neanderthal was found on a beach in the Dutch province of Zeeland more than a decade ago, no one dreamed it would be possible to figure out what that Neanderthal looked like based on such a small fragment. But scientists have learned a lot about Neanderthal characteristics from studying various fossilized skeletons recovered from around the world. This has allowed them to make precise estimates about Neanderthal appearance , both in general and for specific skeletal finds.

Scientists from Leiden University and the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig studied the skull fragment found on the beach in Zeeland for several years. From the information they gathered, they were able to generate digital images of what Krijn probably looked like. These images proved highly useful to Alfons and Adrie Kennis, who were able to sculpt a detailed three-dimensional approximation of Krijn’s appearance that experts believe is highly accurate.

Krijn’s skull fragment was originally buried on the bottom of the North Sea. It was dug up and washed ashore during a dredging operation off the western Dutch coast, where it was discovered by amateur paleontologist, Luc Anthonis, in 2009. Anthonis passed the skull fragment on to the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden, where it was identified as the bone of an eyebrow ridge that belonged to a Neanderthal who lived sometime between 50,000 and 70,000 years ago.
This was a remarkable discovery, because it was the first evidence ever found that showed a Neanderthal presence in The Netherlands.
A deeper examination by the Leiden University and the Max Planck Institute scientists revealed even more details about the skull fragment and its prehistorical owner. They determined the fragment had come from a young man of stocky build. A study of the isotopes locked up in the bone showed the young man’s diet consisted primarily of meat, which would be expected for someone who lived in a Neanderthal hunter-gatherer society in the ancient past.
Inside the eyebrow ridge bone, the scientists found an unusual hollowed-out area they concluded had been occupied by some type of tumor. This tumor was entirely benign, and except for its effect on Krijn’s appearance (it would have caused a swollen bump over his eye) it had no impact on his health.
Such a tumor has never been seen before in any other Neanderthal specimen, and its presence helped the Kennis Brothers create a facial reconstruction that is entirely unique among Neanderthal sculptures.

While the skeletal remains were technically found on Dutch soil, it should be noted that they originally came from off the Dutch coast. Krijn’s remains were buried at the bottom of the North Sea, which revealed something quite significant about his past.
Over the course of the Last Glacial Period, or Ice Age , sea levels rose and fell with the alternating advance and retreat of the earth’s glacial cover. When Krijn lived, sea levels in the northern hemisphere were relatively low, and in the North Sea they were 165 feet (50 meters) lower than they are today. The North Sea was much smaller at that time, and in what is now its southern and western parts the lowering of sea levels exposed a land bridge that connected the islands of the United Kingdom with continental Europe.
This land bridge is known as Doggerland, and it was located directly to the west of what is now the Dutch seacoast province of Zeeland. So while Krijn and his people might have traveled through Dutch territory, when he died, he died in Doggerland, where presumably he resided with his people most of the time.
During the last Ice Age, Doggerland stayed above sea level for tens of thousands of years. It even remained above water for a while after the Ice Age ended, in 9,700 BC. The last of its land area was submerged under the surface of the North Sea in approximately 5,800 BC, or a few thousand years after the Bering Strait land bridge that connected Asia with the Americas disappeared beneath the rising waters of the Pacific.
Over the course of its long history, a thriving and diverse ecosystem developed on Doggerland . Neanderthals existed alongside mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses , reindeer, wild horses, and many other large land animals that roamed far and wide in the northern hemisphere in prehistoric times. Modern humans eventually arrived on Doggerland as well, and remained there living as hunter-gatherers right to the end.
Neanderthals would have lived on Doggerland with modern humans for a time. But Neanderthals went extinct long before Doggerland did, so Krijn’s people were not around to see the final demise of their homeland.
Dutch archaeologists and paleontologists know that Doggerland has many secrets to reveal. Unfortunately, underwater exploration is expensive and difficult in the North Sea, given the murkiness of its waters and the depth at which Doggerland’s most fascinating treasures are buried. For now, the underwater remains of Doggerland remain largely inaccessible, forcing scientists to rely on dredging and fishing operations to pull up the occasional exciting specimen or artifact.

The Legendary Hyperborea and the Ancient Greeks: Who Really Discovered America?
In his story of Atlantis, written at around 360 BC, Plato mentioned a grand island or continent across the Atlantic, one larger than Libya and Asia combined. This continent was so enormous, he said, “it encompassed (wrapped around) that veritable ocean”. Is it possible that Plato was talking about the American continent and not that of Atlantis, as many automatically assume when they read that story for the first time?
Let's not ignore that many scholars and researchers also show that proper translation of Plato's text places Atlantis in the Mediterranean and not in the Atlantic, or some other exotic location. Aside from those claims though, is it conceivable to accept that the ancient Greeks, around the 4th century BC, knew of the American continent across the Atlantic? Interestingly, several clues suggest that this may not be such an outlandish assumption after all.
Roughly twenty years ago, in 1996, Mark McMenamin, a professor of geology at Mount Holyoke College in the United States, discovered and interpreted a series of enigmatic markings on the reverse side of a Carthaginian gold coin, minted circa 350 BC, as an ancient map of the world. In the center of this world map there is a clear depiction of the Mediterranean basin. An image to the right of it is interpreted to represent Asia, while the image to the left is interpreted to represent the American continent. Professor McMenamin also found that all known specimens of this type of coin formed the same type of “world” map. This was an interesting discovery, no doubt; however, what is most interesting about this find, is that this particular Carthaginian coin was minted within the same decade when Plato unveiled the story of Atlantis and revealed that there was a large continent across from the Pillars of Hercules.

The Piri Reis world map, named after its maker, a Turkish admiral and renowned cartographer (1465-1553), drawn in 1513, merely two decades after the ‘discovery’ of America by Christopher Columbus, depicts the west coast of Africa, Europe, as well as the entire American continent on the Atlantic side. According to Piri Reis, however, his controversial map was based on several other charts, many dating as early as the 4th century BC!

While by any means the famous map does not come close to a satellite image, it still properly depicts the continents on both sides of the Atlantic, although with one major flaw. It shows the horn of South America turning sharply eastwards, almost at a 90-degree angle, as if South America "wraps around" the Atlantic at the bottom of the map. Of course, some go on to speculate that the horizontal body of that land could be that of Antarctica, thus the controversy, since Antarctica was not discovered until 300 years later.
Although the controversy in Piri Reis' map significantly diminishes without Antarctica in it, the existence of this map still helps reinforce a couple of assumptions made earlier. If truly Piri Reis borrowed from other ancient maps dating back to the 4th century BC, then unquestionably this reinforces the suggestion that Plato, at 360 BC, could have been aware of the American continent in order to include it in his story.
Moreover, is it possible that the apparent flaw on Piri Reis' map, which most likely also appeared on the much older originals, explains why Plato was under the false impression that the immense continent across from the Pillars of Hercules “encompassed” (wrapped around) the Atlantic Ocean. Just as in the northern hemisphere, where North America, along with Greenland, Iceland and few other islands seem to encompass the North Atlantic.

Additional clues, though, not only suggest that the ancient Greeks knew of North America across the Atlantic, but as it appears, they were also familiar with the region around the Arctic Circle—in essence the broken bridge that connects northern Europe to North America. They called this land Hyperborea (a Greek word that means "Extremely North".)

Is this possible? While undoubtedly skeptics would dismiss this suggestion, interestingly, the Greeks believed that Hyperborea was an unspoiled territory so far north from Greece, the sun there never sets. Of course, the only place due north where the sun continuously shines, at least six months out of a year, is the region above the Arctic circle, a territory obviously not easily accessible, especially during the winter months. ‘Coincidentally’, the poet Pindar (522 BC – 443 BC) wrote that “neither by ship nor on foot would you find the marvelous road to the assembly of the Hyperboreans,” a statement that further corroborates the inaccessibility of this region.
So, when bearing in mind this place's location (somewhere “extremely north”,) the fact that is somewhere where the sun never sets, and this is a region inaccessible by foot or boat (most likely due to a frozen Arctic Ocean), where else can a place like this be? Can Hyperborea have been the figment of vivid imagination, or is it possible that there was some truth to this story, as in the case of other stories brought to us from ancient Greece, which involved real places wrapped in mythical elements? Such, among others, was the Palace of Knossos, which it was associated with the Minotaur (a mythical beast of half man and half bull,) the city of Troy which was connected with an epic war fought by demigods, and Mount Olympus, which was thought to be occupied by gods. What about Hyperborea though? Is it possible that the Greeks managed to navigate so far north, or was that knowledge passed down to them from others, such as the Minoans perhaps?
The road to Hyperborea and North America.
If, according to historians, the Bronze Age Minoans 4,000 years ago were often traveling as far as Scotland and the Orkney Islands to trade goods, is it inconceivable to assume that over time (going back and forth for a thousand years) they may have eventually reached Greenland (the edge of Hyperborea,) only a couple of short island stops away? And, if those ancient navigators managed to reach Greenland via island hopping, is it possible then to assume that they could have gone a bit further and ultimately reached North America, which in essence, is just around the corner?
If not, where did thousands of tons of copper from the region around the Great Lakes disappear to during the Bronze Age? Most importantly, how did spices, plants and insects indigenous only to America find themselves in Santorini (a Minoan island) around the period of 1600 BC?
An excavation in the ancient city of Akrotiri, on the island of Santorini, revealed that a tobacco beetle (Lasioderma serricorne), an insect indigenous to America at the time, was found buried under the volcanic ash of the 1600 BC eruption. If tobacco was not introduced to Europeans until around 1518 AD, as history claims (nearly 3,000 years later), how else did this pest of stored tobacco got there.
Furthermore, how were the Egyptians able to obtain tobacco and other plants indigenous to America, like coca leaves, which were often used during mummification? Indeed, in 1992, German studies revealed that one third of all mummies tested, carried traces of nicotine on their hair, skin, and bones. Also, the same tobacco beetle found in Santorini was found inside the mummy of King Ramses II (1213 BC), as well as inside King Tutankhamen's tomb (1323 BC).
If our early Mediterranean ancestors did not know of North America 10,000 to 12,000 years ago, how then did Haplogroup X, a Mediterranean gene, find itself in North America around that timeframe and as Plato claimed?
For those not familiar with genetics, each race around the planet is categorized by scientists according to their particular DNA haplogroup. For example, all American Indians contain haplogroups A, B, C, and D. As haplogroups A, C, and D are also found primarily in Asia, and B mainly in China and Japan, it is highly speculated by anthropologists that these four haplogroups traveled to North America during a glacier period when continents were once connected by ice.
A more recent study, though, on certain Native American tribes, especially those around the Great Lakes, revealed that in addition to the above haplogroups they were also found to carry haplogroup X. If Middle Easterners somehow made it to America 10,000 years ago, why do only tribes around the Great Lakes carry this particular gene? And, most importantly, how did Mediterranean people travel to North America?
If this was some random transfer, as some scientists maintain (see Solutrean Hypothesis), why then did no other haplogroup from at least a dozen in Europe at the time not follow X, as the four Asian haplogroups on the opposite side of the map ultimately followed each other via the Bering Strait? Is it possible that haplogroup X navigated to North America in a contained environment as Plato claimed? Or, is it possible, as the majority of anthropologists suggest, 10,000 years ago Mediterranean people walked to America while ice still connected the Asian and American continents at the Bering Strait?
A huge problem with the scientific claim, though, is that en route from the Middle East to America, the furthest region east of the Mediterranean to carry small traces of haplogroup X is that of the Altai Republic in southern Russia. No traces of haplogroup X (a variation of X, or another European haplogroup) exist further east of that region. We must also not ignore that mtDNA maps show that the highest concentrations of haplogroup X exist on the Atlantic side, around the Great Lakes, and not in Alaska or alongside the west coast, where, according to anthropologists, haplogroup X infiltrated America.
And last but not least, we must not ignore that high traces of haplogroup X strangely exist in Scotland, Orkney Islands, Faroe Islands and Iceland, essentially all the island stops from Europe to North America.

The disturbing “secret military base” under the Denver airport
The new complex was the subject of numerous conspiracy theories before a plane left one of its runways, and it’s easy to see why.
The project was initially estimated to cost $ 1.7 billion.
By the time it was completed, after considerable delays no less, the cost had risen to just below the $ 5 billion mark.
When revealed to the public on February 28, 1995, the layout took up much more ground than originally suggested, and the tracks themselves appeared to represent a Nazi swastika when viewed from above.
Even DIA’s mascot Mustang the fiberglass horse, standing proudly outside, with glowing red eyes, has been responsible for at least one death.
Its creator, Luis Jiménez, was killed by his own artwork when Mustang’s head fell off during its completion and fatally severed an artery in Jiménez’s leg.
Throughout the airport, demonic sculptures and artwork haunt the walls, including a strange painting that appears to show the aftermath of a horrendous global conflict.
When the letters “AUAG” were seen on the artwork, conspiracy theories were quick to say that the painting represented an upcoming biological attack, possibly one that would be unleashed by the DIA.
At the time, a deadly new strain of hepatitis called the Australian Antigen – whose symbol was ‘AUAG’ – had just been discovered that only added fuel to these theories.
The stone of dedication found out of the state of the art building claims it was built by the ‘New World Airport Commission’, but there is no such body found anywhere in the records.
The abundance of Freemason symbols found throughout the airport does nothing to stifle these kinds of claims.
Perhaps what most fanned the flames of the DIA conspiracy was the discovery of plans for a “first attempt” to build the new airport.
These plans revealed a total of five known buildings that were completed and then apparently abandoned due to incorrect positioning.
It was later decided that instead of tearing down the buildings and using the materials elsewhere, it would be preferable to bury them, complete and intact.
Some believe that these buildings, however, were not simply buried and abandoned, but are part of the underground complex that is buried and operational below DIA.
Various theories have been put forward as to what these underground facilities might be, from FEMA detention units to “hideout” bases for the global elite.
When numerous construction workers began claiming that there were five-story buildings underneath the main airport, as well as a secret network of tunnels, the conspiracy theories began to seem a little less far-fetched, at least to some.
Perhaps the fact that Denver is the seemingly chosen location for such a secret elite facility is a clue in itself.
The city is one mile above sea level, which is why it is called the Upper Town of Mile.
Does this fact make the area favorable in the event of some kind of natural or man-made catastrophe, in particular a catastrophe that may involve severe flooding and rising sea levels?
Whistleblower Luis Elizondo is Writing a UFO Tell-All Book
Some whistleblowers know where the bodies are buried. Others know where the money is buried. Luis Elizondo knows where the UFOs and possible aliens are buried … or at least that’s what publishing company William Morrow is hoping as it announced it has won the bidding war to publish the “shocking” memoir of the former head of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). Will Elizondo identify the smoking UAP or will he be silenced like the Lone Gunmen?
“(The memoir) promises to reveal shocking never-before-shared details regarding what Elizondo has learned about UFOs and the profound implications for humanity, all of which will escalate what is already a hot topic globally.”
We want dates!
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the news that William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, will publish the highly anticipated exposé by the ultimate insider to the secret Pentagon investigations of unidentified aerial phenomena. The former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent was director of AATIP from 2008 until resigning in 2017 in protest of the organization’s secrecy. Elizondo attempted to expose some of the secrets himself by joining the To the Stars Academy of Arts and Sciences and making public (and famous) three declassified videos of the ‘Tic Tac’ UFOs taken by pilots from the USS Nimitz and USS Theodore Roosevelt. Despite these revelations, plus many interviews – including a well publicized one earlier this year on “60 Minutes,” Elizondo apparently (and hopefully) has much, much more to tell.
“The American people now know a small portion of what I and my colleagues in the Pentagon have been privy to: That these UAP (unidentified aerial phenomenon) are not secret U.S. technology, that they do not seem to belong to any known allies or adversaries and that our intelligence services have yet to identify a terrestrial explanation for these extraordinary vehicles. This conversation is only just beginning.”

Elizondo is referring to the brief public report by the Pentagon earlier this year which did not rule out aliens as a possible cause of UFOs seen by Navy pilots or others investigated by AATIP, along with the many more reported but not investigated. The whistleblower will face the naysayers who question the extent of his actual involvement within AATIP – an accusation strongly refuted by former senator and key driving force in the formation of AATIP, Harry Reid. Then there’s Elizondo’s “security oath” – which he has taken seriously as a reason to not reveal too much in previous interviews. Will it still be a muzzle in the memoir?
Like Fox Mulder and the Lone Gunmen, so many people want to believe. Let’s hope Luis Elizondo’s memoir is the bible they’ve been waiting for.
Planet Nine May Be Found Using Newly Discovered Objects Far Beyond Neptune
If you haven’t found Planet Nine yet – and we’re assuming we would have heard about it if you did – then perhaps the map released a few weeks ago isn’t up to Google snuff. Fortunately, another guide has just been announced and it follows a trail of newly discovered trans-Neptunian objects so far away, their solar orbits are described as extremely extreme. Something is affecting them more than the gravitational pull of Neptune. Will they lead to Planet Nine?
“This catalog has 817 confirmed objects (461 first discovered in this work). This is the second largest TNO catalog from a single survey to date, as well as the largest catalog with multi-band photometry.”
It had better be good – this new catalog of Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNO) used six years of data from the Dark Energy Survey – an astronomical survey using the Dark Energy Camera which was designed to take images in the near-ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared spectrums to measure the expansion of the Universe, taking advantage of a wide field of view and high sensitivity. The DES ran from 2013 to 2019 and its data was found to contain far more than needed for its initial purpose. In this case, a large team of researchers led by lead authors of the paper (preprint at arXiv), University of Pennsylvania cosmologist Gary Bernstein and University of Washington postdoctoral scholar Pedro Bernardinelli, found 815 TNOs and added 461 to the list of over 3,000 identified so far.
Good old Pluto – our favorite TNA
According to Science Alert, all of the new TNOs are at least 30 AU away (AU = 93 million miles or the distance from the Earth to the sun). Some are in the Kuiper Belt with dwarf planets Pluto and Eris at about 30 AUs and 50 AUs. However, the capability of the Dark Energy Camera was shown with the discovery of nine known as extreme trans-Neptunian objects that are at least 150 AUs from the sun. Of those, four are extremely extreme TNOs at 230 AUs. Those four are the ones showing behavior that suggests they’re being pulled by Planet Nine. Since the data from the Dark Energy Survey they used contains 20% of all currently-known TNOs and covers only one-eight of the sky, that identifies a clear path to Planet Nine.
Or not.
Skeptics say the strange orbits of the four extremely extreme TNOs are nothing more than statistical anomalies, while another group of astronomers has previously proposed that the gravitational pull is coming from a massive amount of tiny objects, possibly from one destroyed planet (could be Nine but there’s no proof), working together.
There’s only one way to find out – follow the extremely extremes. Fortunately, the researchers are making their data available.
“These will be valuable for further detailed statistical tests of formation models for the trans-Neptunian region.”

First Evidence of a Specific Prehistoric “Winged Lizard” in the Southern Hemisphere
The remains of a specific type of pterosaur or “winged lizard” has been found for the first time ever in the Southern Hemisphere. The fossil belonged to a rhamphorhynchine pterosaur that lived about 160 million years ago during the Jurassic Period in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
The fossil was unearthed back in 2009 by Osvaldo Rojas, the director of the Atacama Desert Museum of Natural History and Culture. However, it has only recently been identified by scientists at the University of Chile and confirmed as being the first of its kind to have ever been discovered in the prehistoric supercontinent of Gondwana.
The fact that this species was only previously discovered in the north seems to indicate that it migrated between the hemispheres. “There are pterosaurs of this group also in Cuba, which apparently were coastal animals, so most likely they have migrated between the North and the South or maybe they came once and stayed, we don’t know,” explained Jhonatan Alarcon from the University of Chile, adding, “We show that the distribution of animals in this group was wider than known to date.”

The rhamphorhynchine pterosaur had a 2-meter-wide wingspan (6.6 feet); a pointed snout; sharp teeth that pointed outwards; and a long pointy tail.
In addition to being the first rhamphorhynchine pterosaur that’s ever been found in the Southern Hemisphere, it is also “the oldest known pterosaur found in Chile” as described by the scientists in their study that was published in the scientific journal Acta Palaeontologica Polonica.

Pterosaurs were pretty interesting creatures. While they are not considered a dinosaur, they were closely related. During their 150-million-year journey on Earth, there were over 150 different pterosaur species flying around.

While there are different theories as to how pterosaurs moved from land to the sky, one computer model by Michael Habib from Chatham University seems quite possible as he theorized that the reptiles took off “…with an explosive jump into the air” and “Then, they put out their wings and could generate enough lift with one downstroke to take off,” as explained by Mark A. Norell, chair of the American Museum of Natural History’s division of paleontology. And while they were on land, it is believed that they walked on four legs.
Pterosaurs are known to be huge flying reptiles such as the Quetzalcoatlus northropi which had a wingspan of 33 feet (10 meters); however, they weren’t all large as many of their wingspans measured approximately 6 feet across (1.8 meters). And there were tiny pterosaurs like the Nemicolopterus crypticus which had a wingspan of just 10 inches.
First Martian Rock Samples Reveal a “Potentially Habitable Sustained Environment”
The first rock samples that were collected on Mars by NASA’s Perseverance Rover have revealed very interesting results. The first sample, which has been named “Montdenier”, was collected on September 6th, followed by a second sample named “Montagnac” on September 8th.
Experts are hoping that by collecting the rock samples, they will be able to get a better understanding of the planet’s history and so far so good as indicated by Caltech’s Ken Farley who is a project scientist for the mission that is led by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California, “It looks like our first rocks reveal a potentially habitable sustained environment,” adding, “It’s a big deal that the water was there a long time.”
The rocks from the first sample are composed of basalt which may have been a result of lava flows. And since volcanic rocks contain crystalline minerals that can be radiometric dated, experts may be able to pinpoint the date of when the lava flows occurred. The information provided in the rocks may also answer many other important questions regarding the area in which it was collected, such as when the Jezero Crater was formed, when its lake appeared and then disappeared, and what type of changes the climate endured over time.

Scientists do know that a lake once filled the crater, but they’re still unsure as to how long it lasted. The samples that they have collected so far seem to indicate that groundwater was there for a significant amount of time – but the question of whether it was there for thousands of years or even millions of years remains unanswered, at least for now. The longer the water was there would have provided a better opportunity for microscopic life to have survived if there was any.
Additionally, salts have been found in the rocks and they could have formed when there was groundwater in the area that affected the minerals in the rock or perhaps the salts were left when the water evaporated. If the salt minerals were able to trap small water bubbles, they could provide scientists with answers regarding the climate on Mars during ancient times as well as if the planet was ever habitable.
The first two samples were collected from an area which is believed to contain some of youngest rock layers in the crater. Their next location for collecting rock samples will probably be in “South Séítah” which is only about 656 feet (200 meters) away. This area, which is believed to be older than the original site, contains ridges that are covered by boulders, rock shards, and sand dunes.

Once the samples are eventually brought back to Earth, scientists will analyze them in further detail as described by Mitch Schulte from NASA Headquarters and who is the mission’s program scientist, “One day, we may be able to work out the sequence and timing of the environmental conditions that this rock’s minerals represent. This will help answer the big-picture science question of the history and stability of liquid water on Mars.”

UFO Sighting In Australia? Some Think So After Spotting Flashing Lights Moving Across Sky
There is no confirmation of what the sighting was, but many believe that they recently saw an unidentified flying object (UFO) in Australia after spotting strange lights "ping-ponging" across the sky.
An unusual light display has lead Melbourne residents to believe they could have been witnessing unidentified flying objects.

The so-called UFO was spotted on the south coast, near the border with Victoria, Australia on Sept. 7 and the lights moved rapidly for five minutes at least, according to Daily Star.
According to the UFO Hunters, two people saw flashing light moving rapidly over the ocean, it "accelerated quickly to the left then hovered with random flashes of light getting bright." It apparently "ping-ponged back and forth up and down and then hovered while slowly fading out." The witnesses also saw white, red and blue colors when they came across the so-called UFO. After checking the flight radar, they found nothing was in the air near their location. They clearly found the sighting very interesting.
This isn't the first time that someone claimed to have spotted a mysterious object in the sky in Australia, and associated it with objects from another planet.
In April, 9News reported that mysterious lights were seen over the early morning skies in Melbourne, Australia and made residents believe they had come across a fleet of unidentified objects. One witness, Matt, said that he saw the lights in the sky and then another one came. It was followed by many more, so he wondered what was going on.
He walked out to the front of his house and he looked back to where the objects were coming from, and he found a whole string of them. To him, it seemed like someone had unraveled Christmas lights and hung them up in the sky. But going by a scientific explanation for the bright lights, it turned out to be a series of satellites returning to Earth. Disappointed, Matt said that he would have preferred them to be UFOs rather than satellites.
Observers were shocked by the display, unable to determine what they were seeing.

It was also revealed that the Pentagon has been taking UFOs seriously, and that in 2007 it set up a program, which has been collecting information on Unexplained Aerial Phenomena since then.

Here’s Our Best View Yet of Asteroid Kleopatra
The European Southern Observatory returns intriguing views of enigmatic asteroid 216 Kleopatra.
It’s not every day we get a new look at a distant world, let alone a strange misshapen asteroid. But that just what happened last week, when the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope in Chile released new images of asteroid 216 Kleopatra.
Using the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (ESO’s VLT), a team of astronomers have obtained the sharpest and most detailed images yet of the asteroid Kleopatra. The observations have allowed the team to constrain the 3D shape and mass of this peculiar asteroid, which resembles a dog bone, to a higher accuracy than ever before. Their research provides clues as to how this asteroid and the two moons that orbit it formed.
The images were obtained courtesy of SPHERE, the Spectro-Polarimetric High-contrast Exoplanet REsearch instrument, attached to the 8.2 metre VLT Unit Telescope 3. Though SPHERE is designed for direct visual observations of planets around other stars, it does a pretty solid job at resolving objects in our own solar system, including asteroids.
What you’re seeing in the image sequence is twin-lobed, dog-boned shaped asteroid 216 Kleoptra. Discovered on the night of April 10th, 1880 by astronomer Johann Polisa from the Austrian Naval Pola Observatory, the asteroid ranges on a 4.7 year orbit, from a perihelion 2.1 Astronomical Units (AU) from the Sun, to a distant aphelion of 3.5 AU. SPHERE uses an adaptive optics system which cancels out atmospheric distortions to nab fine detail.
“Kleopatra is truly a unique body in our Solar System,” says astronomer Frank Marchis (SETI-Institute) in a recent press release. “Science makes a lot of progress thanks to the study of weird outliers. I think Kleopatra is one of those and understanding this complex, multiple asteroid system can help us learn more about our solar system.”
The strange world of 216 Kleopatra is 276 kilometers along its longest axis. The asteroid is named after the famous 1st century BC queen of Egypt. To understand what an amazing feat it is to resolve detail on such a tiny distant object even in our own solar system with SPHERE, consider the viewing geometry: at 449 million kilometers (279 million miles) away, an object 276 kilometers across appears just over 0.1” (a tenth of an arcsecond) in apparent size… that’s around 250 times smaller than Mars at its very closest to Earth.
Kleopatra spins on its axis once every 5.4 hours, and the late Arecibo observatory nabbed its contact binary nature during radar observations in 2000. Observations from Keck Observatory in 2008 also revealed the presence of two tiny (7-9 kilometer-sized) moonlets in orbit around 216 Kleopatra: Alexhelios and Cleoselene, named after the children of Cleopatra.
Discovery of the moons is a lucky break for astronomers, as it allows them to peg the overall density and mass of 216 Kleopatra. But it also presented a mystery, as positions noted in the recent SPHERE observations of the moonlets did not match up with estimates from early observations.
“This had to be resolved,” says Miroslav Bro¸ (Charles University, Prague) in a recent press release. “Because if the moons’ orbits were wrong, everything was wrong, including the mass of Kleopatra.”
SPHERE VLT observations of the shape and size of 216 Kleopatra along with the orbits of the two moons allowed astronomers to further characterize the main asteroid as a loose ‘rubble pile’ about half the density of iron, 35% lower than previously thought.
Astronomers also realized the fast rotational period of 216 Kleopatra could well explain the existence of the two moons, as material from impacts was flung off from the asteroid’s surface. Both moonlets orbit the asteroid once every 1.2 and 2.3 days respectively, and would possess a strange sky, dominated by the dumbbell-shaped primary.
Observing 216 Kleopatra
If you have a large telescope, you can spot 216 Kleoptra: Generally, it’s at +12th magnitude, but it can reach +9th magnitude on a favorable opposition near perihelion. This occurs next in 2027. Currently, the asteroid is located in the constellation of Ophiuchus the Serpent Bearer.
Seeing 216 Kleoptra up close is a tour de force for the power of ground-based adaptive optics. The VLT-SPHERE configuration has also taken images of 4 Vesta that rivaled those taken by NASA’s Dawn spacecraft when it visited the dwarf planet in 2011-2012.
Far from being ‘boring space rocks’ recent observations of NEO asteroids have revealed that 15% are binary or contact binaries, and worlds like 216 Kleopatra may hold clues to early solar system history and planetary formation.

The Pentagon's Report Cleared Up Absolutely Nothing About UFOs
The truth, whatever it is, is still out there.
Here's What You Need to Remember: To a certain strand of believer, the Pentagon's conclusions mean that the only possible explanation for the UFOs is extraterrestrial activity—a conclusion that the Pentagon report does not support but does not explicitly rule out.
In December 2020, Congress passed the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021”, a 5,500-page omnibus bill covering a variety of housekeeping issues. The bill is better remembered for approving the second round of $600 stimulus checks, but it also included thousands of other minor requests—one of which, unusually, required the Pentagon to compile a report on unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
The term “UFO” broadly refers to any aerial phenomenon for which there is no explanation. The Pentagon was instructed to provide the report within six months; it was released on June 25, shortly before the deadline (you can read it here). However, the nine-page report does not contain much; the Pentagon has concluded that it has no definitive answers regarding UFOs. Of the 144 “unexplained aerial phenomena” it examined, it was unable to find an explanation for 143 of them and concluded that it could not rule anything out. For those who hoped that the Pentagon could shed some light on the UFO question, the report’s conclusions are most likely disappointing.
Moreover, more than simply a fount for fringe conspiracy theories, “unexplained aerial phenomena,” as the Pentagon describes them, have been described as a national security threat. Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told an Ohio news station that, “If there are objects flying over military installations that could pose a security threat … [it] needs to be declassified and revealed to American public. […] If there’s something out there, let’s seek it out, and it is probably a foreign power.”
However, security experts have cast doubt on the idea that the mysterious aircraft are the work of a foreign government, noting that such aircraft would have required an enormous technological leap within a foreign country’s aerospace agencies, all of which operate with a small fraction of the capital of the U.S. defense budget. It would have also required an enormous failure on the part of U.S. intelligence agencies responsible for monitoring other nations’ aerospace programs.
To a certain strand of believer, these conclusions mean that the only possible explanation for the UFOs is extraterrestrial activity—a conclusion that the Pentagon report does not support but does not explicitly rule out. For those who do not believe in aliens, though, the UFO mystery will simply remain a mystery—and the truth, whatever it is, is still out there.

Since then, the scientist has delved into his idea, according to which the explosion was caused by an intelligent extraterrestrial race, reports ‘Daily Mail’.
The conclusion of their latest report holds that “nuclear isotopes in the atmosphere of Mars resemble hydrogen bomb tests.”
Which, according to his theory, shows that we are dealing with “an example of a civilization destroyed by a nuclear attack from space.”
Their research is based on the high concentration of Xenon-129 in the Martian atmosphere and the uranium and thorium found on the surface by NASA’s Odyssey spacecraft.
According to his theory, the red planet had two ancient Martian civilizations.
According to the physicist, who even reveals their names – Cydonians and Utopians – these alien races had a level of technology similar to that of the ancient Egyptians.
For their part, scientists point out that the appearance of these elements on Mars is not surprising, since they are natural elements that are found everywhere.
The physicist maintains that before the explosion, Mars had a climate similar to that of Earth, as did plant and animal life.
This version, he claims, suggests that we too should fear an attack on our own planet.
“So a manned mission to Mars should be organized to find out what we’re up against.”

What are the mysterious lights that appear on the Moon?
It happens several times a week. Sometimes it is just brief flashes of light that appear on the surface. Others last longer, and sometimes there are places that are temporarily darkened.
One hypothesis is that they are caused by meteorite impacts or may be electrically charged solar wind particles that react with lunar dust. Who knows?
In space, there are lots of tiny fragments of rock and other materials that, from time to time, hit a planet or the Moon.
When they do so against the Earth, they usually burn when they enter the atmosphere and give rise to so-called meteors (also known as “shooting stars”).
But the Moon has no atmosphere, so when these small rocks collide with it, they hit its surface directly, producing a brief flash.
“These transient lunar phenomena have been known since the 1950s, but they have not been observed systematically and long-term enough,” experts explain.
Last year, the NASA administrator assured that they have duplicated plans to return to the Moon and land on Mars and explained that the organization is on the way for humans to return to our satellite again by 2028.
The plan is based on the development of a space launch system on the Orion spacecraft in conjunction with the Gateway orbital platform.
“We will go to the Moon in the next decade with new technologies and innovative systems to explore more places on its surface,” says the scientist.
“This time, when we arrive, we will stay. We will use what we learn as we move forward to make the next big leap: send astronauts to Mars, ”he adds.

When will our Sun die? According to a study in the journal Nature Astronomy, the Sun will ‘die’ in 5 to 10 billion years. Stars, like the Sun, start to ‘die’ when they’ve burnt all of their hydrogen fuel.

It’s thought this stage will happen to our Sun in around five billion years. The Sun may send a blast through space that can disrupt virtually all electrical power grids and satellites.
The Sun is predicted to expand so much it would engulf Mars and Earth as if puffs up into a red giant.
It’s thought humans would have died out way before then unless we can find a way to leave planet Earth and exist somewhere else. The 2018 study suggests, at this rate, humans only have around one billion years left. This is because the Sun is predicted to get 10% brighter every billion years and this could create some major issues for life on Earth. Frank C. Feschino, Jr.
During the summer of 1952, Americans reported a record amount of UFO sightings to Project Blue Book, the Air Force group responsible for investigating unidentified flying objects. Author/Illustrator Frank C. Feschino, Jr. has written an exciting book that encompasses the summer of 1952 and America’s overwhelming UFO problem during that time. The author documents the numerous aerial encounters and confrontations that occurred between United States fighter planes and UFOs over America.
I spoke with Frank who spent 18 years searching for data to put in his excellent book. He told me that in July of 1952, an Air Force information officer revealed, “The jet pilots are, and have been under orders to investigate unidentified objects and to shoot them down if they can’t talk them down.” Feschino writes about the overwhelming amount of mysterious fighter plane accidents and vanished jets that occurred during the 1950s. In 1952the Air Force lost 2,274 planes and the Navy lost 2,086 aircraft. I congratulate Frank Feschino for finding the story of our missing airmen in his many years of research into the UFO phenomena. “Shoot Them Down” is an important historical record of the deaths of brave men who were ordered to engage UFOs. Not only to hunt them down, but as Lt. Col. Moncel Monts is quoted in the book; “The jet pilots are and have been under orders to investigate unidentified objects and to shoot them down if they can’t talk them down”. We were losing a plane a day.

It is sad to know that many governments kept a lid on these engagements. The deaths of many airmen were attributed to pilot error or engine failure when in reality they had died in air combat with craft not of this world. It is time to honor these men who died in aerial battles with UFO’s after being scrambled to hunt them down.

Soviet medium-range ballistic missile SS4 and SS 5s
The Cuban Missile Crisis started in the beginning of October 1962 when a U-2 photographed at 75,000 feet a Soviet buildup of Soviet equipment that was a direct and dangerous confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union. It was the moment when the two superpowers came closest to nuclear War.

I was flying in a tanker refueling RF-101s about 50 miles from Cuba on October 16, 1962, when our radio blurted out, “Captain Filer report immediately to General Sweeny office at Tactical Air Command Headquarters!” I thought I was in serious trouble. I was flown to Langley Air Force Base and reported into General Sweeney and TAC Intelligence. I possessed an above Top-Secret clearance and that is why they wanted me.
Immediately photos of nuclear missiles from Cuba were put in a brief case attached to my wrist with hand cuffs and I was flown to Andrews Air Force Base and raced by car to the Pentagon, Washington D.C. General LeMay would show the photos to President Kennedy and other members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
RF-101’ Voodoos aircraft low level reconnaissance of Cuba
Our reconnaissance RF-101’ Voodoo aircraft were flying over Cuba at a couple hundred feet altitude at a thousand mph on an hourly bases to film 100s of Soviet SS-4 and SS-5 Ballistic Nuclear missiles with that could have probably destroyed the United States. The film was flown to Langley Air Force Base and processed, and my job was it to take the latest film to General LeMay at Air Force Headquarters in the Pentagon. I was carrying photos to General Curtis LeMay’s office sometimes twice a day. He had beautiful secretaries that led me into his office on opened the photographic in the case. I saluted but LeMay seemed more interested in chewing his cigar.
The Soviets were building at least nine sites—six for R-12 medium-range missiles (NATO designation SS-4 Sandal) with an effective range of 1,200 miles and three for R-14 intermediate-range ballistic missiles (NATO designation SS-5 Skean) with a maximum range of 2,800 miles. This is one of the photos I carried.
Note: During the Cuban Crisis I was a above top secret courier between General Walter Sweeney the Commander of Tactical Air Command (TAC) and General LeMay the Commander of the Air Force.
General Curtis LeMay
I was visiting the Pentagon and carrying Top Secret photographs of Soviet Missiles just taken by RF 101 reconnaissance aircraft. General Sweeney had told me to tell General Curtis LeMay “We can guarantee to knock out a couple hundred Soviet nuclear missiles sites spread around Cuba and Soviet IL–28 bombers capable of carrying nuclear bombs.”
The Joint Chiefs of Staff — argued for an immediate military response including air strikes to destroy the missiles before they could be armed and made ready for launch, followed by a full-scale military invasion of Cuba.
The State Department and advisers favored a purely diplomatic response including strongly worded warnings to Castro and Khrushchev they hoped would result in the supervised removal of the Soviet missiles. LeMay felt that would not work and get us all killed.
President Kennedy President meets with General Walter Sweeney Commander of the Tactical Air Command who tells him that an air strike could not guarantee 100% destruction of the missiles. Some could be hidden .
General LeMay also wanted to attack the missile sites. He told me to tell Sweeney, “Make sure you’re ready and on alert to attack. CIA U-2 Reconnaissance Aircraft
Then a high-flying CIA U-2 was shot down by a Soviet Sam Site and I expected the order would go to strike the Sam Site and probably start World War III. Frontally President Kennedy would not give the order to attack, but the Navy was ordered to conduct a naval blockade of Cuba as a restrained military action. They were told to intercept all Soviet ships and turn them back.
The Cuban Missile Crisis came to an end by agreements between JFK and Khrushchev. They agreed that the missiles in Cuba would be removed if the US missiles in Turkey be removed.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a tense 13-day-long (October 16-28, 1962) confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union triggered by America’s discovery of nuclear-capable Soviet ballistic missile deployment in Cuba. Soviet First Secretary Nikita Khrushchev was persuaded by the idea of countering the US’s growing lead in developing and deploying strategic missiles by placing Soviet intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Cuba.

President Eisenhower is usually the first name that comes to mind when discussing the White House’s knowledge of an alien presence.
Though he didn’t immediately succeed him, Nixon was Eisenhower’s Vice President, making the ufological connection all the more intriguing. It was also relatively well known that Nixon believed in the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrials, but according to his testimony, Nixon divulged his knowledge of a “sophisticated intelligent being” to Merritt toward the end of his presidency According to Merritt, Nixon claimed the being was alive and in government protection. He says Nixon entrusted this information to him as he considered Merritt one of his only confidantes, asking him to personally deliver a letter on the subject to Henry Kissinger – a copy of which allegedly remains hidden today somewhere in the White House.
A Dark Journalist’s Disclosure
Merritt’s testimony is corroborated by Douglas Caddy, a man who acted as a defense attorney for the parties convicted in the Watergate scandal and who claims he knows where Nixon’s ET disclosure letter is hidden in the White House. The two published a book titled, Watergate Exposed: How the President of the United States and the Watergate Burglars Were Set Up as told to Douglas Caddy.
Interviews with both men, including Merritt’s accounts of meeting Nixon, and his subsequent mission as letter courier to Kissinger, can be found on the website of Daniel Liszt, an investigative reporter on government and alien conspiracies, who goes by the alias “Dark Journalist.”
Merritt was an indispensable tool for Nixon’s Huston Plan – the aforementioned intelligence program to infiltrate and disrupt parties he felt threatened by, particularly political opponents and anti-war groups.
While serving as an informant under the Huston plan, Merritt says he was warned by one of his sources, a switchboard operator next to the Watergate Hotel named Rhita Reid, of the impending investigation into the administration. Merritt said he tried to warn Nixon, but that he wasn’t concerned at the time and didn’t foresee its major implications.
Despite this dismissal, Merritt claims he was one of Nixon’s most trusted sources and was even given nicknames including “003” – an obvious James Bond reference. So, when the Watergate scandal played out and the days of the Administration waned,
Merritt claims he was brought into a secret underground room beneath the White House where Nixon revealed the existence of an alien entity and technology housed at the infamous Nevada military base, Area 51.
“We have possessed knowledge and we have in our protection subjects from a planet X,” Nixon supposedly told Merritt. “Knowledge we obtained so vast and powerful, whoever possesses this knowledge would be the most powerful person in the world,” Merritt recounted.’

Merritt claims Nixon then wrote out a lengthy letter that included encrypted formulae to be delivered to Kissinger. He also included two cassette tapes, before sealing the letter and writing something on its outer flap, omitting his normal signature. Nixon then strapped the letter to Merritt’s stomach and sent him to deliver it to its intended recipient for unknown reasons. Allegedly we are close in time to reveal the letter to the public by the President in power.
Now, he claims that letter remains hidden somewhere in the White House, its location known to he and Caddy who say they will only reveal its location if the National Archives allows one of them to be present to read the letter publicly.

Malibu — on September 5, 2021, I had just left the beach to go on Decker Canyon and took a picture of the sky. Later, I noticed the white spot that appears to be multiple crafts. The two large crafts appear to have the same front nose and they both have matching holes on the side. One large hole or window closest to the front of the craft and two smaller holes or windows to the rear. To the bottom right of the two main crafts are two others.

Greenacres – on August 31, 2021, we noticed this bright light with a storm off in the far distance. I zoomed as my camera flipped to night mode. About 20 minutes later my wife looked again and it was gone.
Note: I believe that the witnesses saw the Planet Venus which was very bright in the southern sky. The apparent disappearance could have been due to clouds. The time was reported as 7 PM. Middletown – on September 5, 2021, I was on my porch watching the hummingbird and decided to take a video that day because he was extra vocal. Upon reviewing the video, I noticed a large Saturn like shaped object that was large, round, dark, except the bottom portion I could see was mostly a glowing green color. I’m sure this is either from another planet, or some black project craft that has not be released to the public.

Atlantic City – on August 27, 2021, several glowing round red objects were ascending from the ocean upwardly to the sky at night, in a somewhat path-like pattern. As they got higher and higher, one by one, they started to disappear in the night sky until all of them were gone.

Henderson – on August 12, 2021, I was walking back from the gym, and it began to get windy, and lightning started. I took a video of the lightning and a rectangular object heading south. It was flying very fast and appeared as if it was riding waves in the sky. I watched it through the camera lens but when I picked my head up to see it with my naked eye it wasn’t there.

Kettering – on September 5, 2021, saw three orbs that went into a triangle formation. Two orbs disappear for a few seconds and then two appear back and then it rotated as a whole and the point turned to the north and then disappeared.

Portland – on September 9, 2021, I was alone in the living room on the 5th floor of a high-rise when suddenly, the light pops up and then another SW of it but further away. It did not move but did change shape. It went into two then back to one. Also, it went like a thin line once.

Seattle – on September 4, 2021, standing outside in back driveway 6 pm., talking on cell to friend. I noticed a large completely black metallic, cylinder, rectangle shaped object with slightly pointed ends gliding fast in the sky. It was at a steady upright position silently gilding towards Seattle air flight area. Within my sight for 3 minutes, until it was a black dot.

Montello – on June 13, 2021, my name is Kerry Mann Jr. I live in Montello WI. I took the video and photography. While trying to get a time-lapse of the Milky Way I spotted a UFO. I was able to take 4 pretty darn good photos of the UFO! I put these photos as well as me zooming into them and exploring them more into a video. UFORCOP and Phantoms and Musters Fourteen Research Investigator Butch Witkowski forwarded the f information to me.

Ballarat — on September 4, 2021, I went out my front door, and looked at the sky because I have seen numerous unidentified things and some definite craft in the past. I noticed a star like object, directly to the south, moving in the sky and began recording. This first UFO was travelling from the west to the east and quickly disappeared from view. Another brighter and larger UFO was more to the west I noticed one flash, further in the distance. This UFO seemed to be travelling NNE and getting lower as it went along. This UFO was larger than any stars for two minutes before it disappeared behind a tree. This second UFO seemed to get larger or glow more intensely a couple of times.

A new creepy-looking alien abduction horror game called "They Are Here: Alien Abduction Horror" is due to be released in early 2022 and there's a free-to-play demo available now.
The game follows a journalist who investigates an alien sighting at the Grayswood farm and must explore the area in the dark, using a flashlight and take pictures to gather evidence of alien presence and get to the bottom of the horrifying events.
After numerous reports of mysterious sightings by the farm's owners — strange moving lights in the sky, spooked animals and more over five days — the player must find out whether this is deliberate deception for attention or genuine sensational sightings of alien life.

After reports of mysterious lights in the night sky and the children on the farm complaining that someone is walking by their windows, protagonist Taylor Fox must compile a photo report for the local paper.
"'They Are Here'" is a first-person horror story about a journalist who witnessed an alien abduction at the Grayswood farm," states the game's official description. "Explore the area armed with a flashlight. Take photos of evidence of aliens presence and get to the bottom of the horrifying truth."
The game sounds a bit like the movies "Signs" and "Paranormal Activity" mixed with a procedural investigation activities. But one thing is certain, the creepiness factor is high.
Although there is no official release date for the game yet, its Steam listing says the planned date is "early 2022" and you can add the game to your wishlist or play the demo for free.

Former Pentagon UFO Official Luis Elizondo to Reveal “Shocking Details” in New Book
The former head of the U.S. government’s secretive UFO program will pen a book for HarperCollins that includes "profound implications for humanity."

The former director of a secretive U.S. government UFO program is ready to tell his full story.
Luis Elizondo, who headed the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program’s effort to study UFOs around the world, has signed a book deal with William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, after a competitive bidding war for the U.S. publishing rights.
The memoir “promises to reveal shocking never-before-shared details regarding what Elizondo has learned about UFOs and the profound implications for humanity, all of which will escalate what is already a hot topic globally.”
In May, Elizondo was featured on CBS’ 60 Minutes segment on the UFO phenomena, which has racked up 10 million views on YouTube, making it the show’s fourth-most-watched segment on the streaming service.
Former President Barack Obama added on The Late Late Show in May, “What is true, and I’m actually being serious here, is that there are, there’s footage and records of objects in the skies, that we don’t know exactly what they are. We can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory. They did not have an easily explainable pattern. And so, you know, I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is.”
In June, the Pentagon released a long-awaited report on UFOs (which have been re-dubbed Unidentified Aerial Phenomena — UAPs) that contained limited information about the task force’s findings. The report focused on 143 sightings by military aviators made since 2004 of objects that seemed to defy traditional classification and some of which seemed to break the laws of physics as well. The report offered five possible conclusions about what objects could be that ranged from the ultra mundane (birds, plastic bags), to the rather worrisome (top secret technology from U.S. adversaries like Russia and China), to the rather eyebrow-raising (“Other”). Most significantly to UFO buffs, the report did not rule out aliens and concluded more study was needed.
Said Elizondo in a statement: “The American people now know a small portion of what I and my colleagues in the Pentagon have been privy to: That these UAP (unidentified aerial phenomenon) are not secret U.S. technology, that they do not seem to belong to any known allies or adversaries and that our intelligence services have yet to identify a terrestrial explanation for these extraordinary vehicles. This conversation is only just beginning.”
Elizondo was a former U.S. Army counterintelligence special agent and helped hunt drug traffickers, terrorists and spies. In 2008, he was asked to be part of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, a $22 million program sponsored by then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to study UFOs. In 2010, he was made director of the program. In 2017, he resigned from his position in protest of excessive government secrecy regarding UFOs. Elizondo was also involved in To the Stars Academy of Arts & Sciences from 2017 to 2020, and appeared on History Channel’s Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation. In 2019, a Pentagon spokesperson attempted to cast doubt on Elizondo’s leadership role within the AATIP, but Reid issued a counter-statement that firmly vouched for Elizondo’s position.

The memoir "promises to reveal shocking never-before-shared details regarding what Elizondo has learned about UFOs and the profound implications for humanity, all of which will escalate what is already a hot-topic globally," the publisher promises, the news outlet reported.
Elizondo appeared on CBS’ "60 Minutes" in May during a segment on the UFO phenomena that racked up 10 million views on YouTube, making it the show’s fourth most-watched segment on the streaming service, the news outlet reported.

The Pentagon in June released a report on UFOs — now dubbed as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, or UAP – that contained limited information about the task force’s findings.
The report said defense and intelligence analysts lack sufficient data to determine the nature of mysterious flying objects observed by military pilots including whether they are advanced earthly technologies, atmospherics or of an extraterrestrial nature.
Submitted to Congress and released to the public, the report encompasses 144 observations of UAP dating back to 2004. It was issued by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in conjunction with a U.S. Navy-led UAP task force.
"UAP clearly pose a safety of flight issue and may pose a challenge to U.S. national security," the report stated, adding that the phenomena "probably lack a single explanation."
In a statement to THR, Elizondo said Americans "now know a small portion of what I and my colleagues in the Pentagon have been privy to: That these UAP (unidentified aerial phenomenon) are not secret U.S. technology, that they do not seem to belong to any known allies or adversaries and that our intelligence services have yet to identify a terrestrial explanation for these extraordinary vehicles. This conversation is only just beginning."
Elizondo’s background is wide-ranging, THR noted. He was a former Army Counterintelligence Special Agent and helped hunt drug traffickers, terrorists, and spies.
In 2008, he was asked to be part of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, a $22 million program sponsored by then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to study UFOs. In 2010, he was made director of the program, and resigned in 2017.
He was also involved in To the Stars Academy of Arts & Sciences from 2017 to 2020, and was on History Channel’s "Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation."
In 2019, a Pentagon spokesperson attempted to cast doubt on Elizondo’s leadership role within the AATIP, but Reid issued a counter-statement that vouched for Elizondo.

They found that 7.5 per cent of all the fossils that they studied had cavities, with some layers containing a greater frequency than others.
This suggests that the diet of Microsyops latidens varied over time between foods with higher and lower sugar contents.

The study was conducted by anthropologists Keegan Selig and Mary Silcox of the University of Toronto Scarborough.
'Dental cavities or caries is a common disease among modern humans, affecting almost every adult,' the duo wrote in their paper.
'Caries frequency has been used to study dietary change in humans over time, based on an inferred tie between the incidence of caries and a carbohydrate-rich diet.
'However, the disease is not unique to our species. Among non-human primates, there is also variation in caries frequency associated with diet.
'This metric may provide a mechanism for studying diet in broader contexts, and across geological time.'
In their study, the researchers analysed a total of 1,030 individual fossil teeth and jaw sections that were unearthed in the Southern Bighorn Basin of Wyoming, in the US.
The team found that 77 of the specimens included dental cavities, which they say were likely caused by a diet that was high in fruit or other sugar-rich foods.
However, by dating the fossils based on the age of the sediments in which they were deposited, the pair determined that the frequency of cavities varied over time, with the fewest found in the oldest and youngest of the specimens.
This suggests that the diet of Microsyops latidens changed over time between foods with varying levels of sugar content, perhaps in response to changes in vegetation growth and food availability brought about by the climate fluctuations of the time.

'This, they explained, could have been 'a result of increased competition for limited food sources, or a change in the food sources that were available. This, in turn, may have led to the noted increase in caries frequency.
'As more palaeoclimatic data become available, it is possible that we will see evidence of further climatic change during this period, which may have affected the food sources available to M. latidens,' they concluded.
The full findings of the study were published in the journal Scientific Reports.

Oldest Dental Cavities Date Back 54 Million Years
The oldest dental cavities on a mammal date back 54 million years. As a matter of fact, experts have stated that cavities were actually quite common in early primates, specifically Microsyops latidens which were alive during the Early Eocene Period. Dental cavities have been found in more than 7% of the fossils belonging to that species.
While there isn’t much information regarding the Microsyops latidens species since they have no living descendants, experts believe that they lived in trees and ate fruits as well as insects.
There were a total of 1,030 dental fossils (jaws and teeth) that were found in Wyoming’s Southern Bighorn Basin that span a time frame of approximately 544,000 years during the Early Eocene Period. Of those samples, 77 of them (or 7.48%) contained cavities. The researchers stated that this is the “largest sample to date of fossil caries in a single extinct mammal species,” and the “earliest known sample of dental caries in an extinct mammal.” Another extinct primate that lived about 12.5 million years ago previously held the record for the oldest dental cavity until now.
As for what caused the cavities, scientists think that they were probably due to the consumption of sweet fruits and other sugary foods. Cavities form when mouth bacteria eats away sugar that is on the teeth and delivers a very acidic by-product that then eats the dental tissue; therefore creating a hole (cavity).
Additionally, the changes in the cavities throughout that time period suggested that the primates varied their food habits with some containing more sugar than others (the oldest and youngest fossils had the fewest number of cavities). This may have been caused by the climate fluctuating during the Early Eocene Period that could have affected vegetation and food.
Keegan Selig from the University of Toronto Scarborough explained this further, “We cannot be 100% certain that it was fruit that caused these cavities in M. Latidens. Other factors such as the pH and biochemistry of the mouth might also produce cavities,” adding, “But fruit, and specifically sugar, are major culprits in producing cavities, just like in our own mouths today.”
Some of the cavities found in the Microsyops latidens teeth were quite minor while others were severe. Experts are unsure whether or not the cavities had an effect on the primates’ health, but as Selig explained, “…having cavities, especially large ones, can lead to many health problems” like having an infection, soreness while chewing, and even losing the tooth. New Evidence in a Giant Mound Shows Native Americans Were Sophisticated EngineersIt’s no secret that current Americans and residents of North American going all the way back to the first European on this land give the indigenous people of the land little credit for much of anything. A recent discovery in Louisiana changed that for some archeologists and possibly for some engineers – the massive earthen structures at a place ironically called Poverty Point were constructed in mere weeks yet have managed to solidly survive for 3,400 years. Some people living in buildings in the path of recent hurricanes may want to pay attention.
“We as a research community — and population as a whole — have undervalued native people and their ability to do this work and to do it quickly in the ways they did. One of the most remarkable things is that these earthworks have held together for more than 3,000 years with no failure or major erosion. By comparison, modern bridges, highways and dams fail with amazing regularity because building things out of dirt is more complicated than you would think. They really were incredible engineers with very sophisticated technical knowledge.”
Tristram R. “T.R.” Kidder, anthropology professor and lead author of the study published in the journal Southeastern Archeology, explains in a Washington University in St. Louis press release how his team of anthropologists used radiocarbon dating, microscopic analysis of soils and magnetic measurements of soils to study the Poverty Point World Heritage site in northern Louisiana. The massive mound is 72 feet high with concentric circles in front of it. It was made, starting in 1700 BCE, with nearly 2 million cubic yards of soil hauled, mixed and assembled by a hunter-fisher-gatherer culture without sophisticated tools, domesticated animals, wheeled carts or any other aids. Kidder believes the construction was completed in lifts, or layers of sediment deposited to increase the ridge height and linear dimensions before another layer was placed to expand the mound vertically and horizontally. Amazingly, there is no evidence of weathering between the layers, indicating they were built rapidly and the entire 2 million cubic yards hit 72 feet in a matter of weeks.
“Similar to the Roman concrete or rammed earth in China, Native Americans discovered sophisticated ways of mixing different types of materials to make them virtually indestructible, despite not being compacted. There’s some magic there that our modern engineers have not been able to figure out yet.”
Will they ever figure it out? Kidder thinks these Native American engineers descended from the original people who crossed the Bering Strait land bridge 15,000 years ago. The variety and magnitude of artifacts found there indicates it may have been a major trading center when the mound was built, providing the engineers with a large labor pool to haul, mix and pile the soil. Holes indicate that houses were built on the mound, but it appears news of the sheer magnitude of it spread and the mound became an important religious site where Native Americans came in pilgrimage.

While the mounds have stood for 3,400 years through hurricanes, heavy rains, flooding and erosion, the Native American builders didn’t. It appears they moved out around 1100 BCE due to hurricanes, heavy rains, flooding and erosion – i.e., climate change.
The mound at Poverty Point is not the most famous – the Serpent Mound in Ohio is – but perhaps it should be. Will modern engineers learn anything from these underappreciated yet obviously talented Native American builders? Possibly. Will the mound help today’s Americans better appreciate the talented people who lived here long before the Europeans? Has anything else managed to do that? Will climate change force modern people to abandon the structures they build? Definitely. How long will those structures last? You know the answer.
We must never stop learning about – and learning from – the past.

Virgin Galactic heeft zijn eerste commerciële onderzoeksmissie met de Italiaanse luchtmacht uit voorzorg uitgesteld tot medio oktober. Het uitstel is veroorzaakt door een potentiële fabricagefout bij een leverancier.
Virgin Galactic schrijft dat het bedrijf zijn ‘Unity 23'-missie met de Italiaanse luchtmacht uitstelt nadat het door een leverancier is gewaarschuwd voor een mogelijk defect. De eventuele productiefout zou in het flight control-systeem zitten.
“Op dit moment is nog niet bekend of het defect aanwezig is in de ruimtetuigen van het bedrijf en welke reparatiewerkzaamheden eventueel nodig zijn”, meldt Virgin Galactic. Het bedrijf zegt dat het momenteel inspecties uitvoert, samen met de leverancier in kwestie. Het voegt eraan toe dat het de missie heeft uitgesteld vanwege ‘een overvloed aan voorzichtigheid’.
De Unity 23-missie stond aanvankelijk in de planning voor eind september of begin oktober, maar vindt nu ‘medio oktober’ plaats, zo klinkt het. Virgin Galactic wil toeristische vluchten richting de ruimte verkopen, en met zijn eigen vlucht in juli wilde oprichter Richard Branson daar reclame voor maken. De ruimte is niet alleen voor professionele astronauten, maar ook voor gewone burgers. Dat is de boodschap die verkopers van ruimtetoerisme graag overbrengen. Daarom stuurt een van die bedrijven, SpaceX van miljardair Elon Musk, volgende week een speciale vlucht naar de ruimte. Voor het eerst bestaat de bemanning van een toestel dat in een baan rond de aarde komt alleen uit burgers. Zij worden voorbereid en getraind, maar er gaan geen professionele astronauten mee.
Inspiration4, zo heet de missie. De gezagvoerder is de 38-jarige miljardair Jared Isaacman, die de vlucht betaalt. Hij is de oprichter van betaaldienst Shift4. In zijn vrije tijd is hij straaljagerpiloot en bergbeklimmer. In 2009, toen hij 26 was, vloog Isaacman met een vliegtuig in recordtempo de wereld rond. Hij had slechts 62 uur nodig voor de reis.
Isaacman koos drie burgers die met hem mee mogen gaan. Daarbij koos hij ook een goed doel. SpaceX hoopt dat de vlucht zo’n 200 miljoen dollar (bijna 170 miljoen euro) opbrengt voor een kinderziekenhuis in de stad Memphis, onder meer door het veilen van spullen die meegaan aan boord.
Een van de bemanningsleden is Hayley Arceneaux (29), die als arts-assistent in het ziekenhuis werkt. Als kind had zij kanker. Haar knie werd vervangen en ze kreeg een staaf van titanium in haar dijbeen. Ze wordt de eerste persoon met een prothese die naar de ruimte gaat. Christopher Sembroski (42) mag mee omdat hij geld doneert aan het kinderziekenhuis. Het vierde en laatste bemanningslid is Sian Proctor (51), een docente geologie. Ze probeerde in 2009 astronaut te worden voor de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA, maar viel af bij de laatste selectieronde.
De lancering staat voorlopig gepland voor donderdag, maar het precieze tijdstip hangt af van de weersverwachting rond de ruimtebasis Cape Canaveral in Florida. De bemanning komt maximaal 540 kilometer van de aarde. De laatste keer dat mensen zo ver weg gingen, was in 2009. Na een vlucht van drie dagen moet het vaartuig met de vier, hangend aan een parachute, in de Atlantische Oceaan plonzen.
Musk is in een hevige concurrentiestrijd verwikkeld met twee andere miljardairs, die zich ook op ruimtetoerisme hebben gestort. In juli ging een ruimtevliegtuig van Virgin Galactic naar de rand van de dampkring. Aan boord zaten oprichter Richard Branson en drie van zijn naaste medewerkers. ‘What I saw that night was real’: is it time to take aliens more seriously?

The Pentagon has been quietly investigating unidentified flying objects since 2007. The fact that they think they might exist is good news to those who claim to have seen them
In June, the US government published a long-awaited report into UFOs. Although the report did not, as many had hoped, admit to the existence of little green men, it did reveal that not only were objects appearing in our skies that the Pentagon – which controls the US military – could not explain, but some clearly pose “a safety of flight issue and may pose a challenge to US national security”.
The Pentagon also revealed that it has been taking UFOs so seriously that in 2007 it discreetly set up the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), which has been gathering data on Unexplained Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) ever since.
The unclassified version of the report (there was also a classified version seen only by US lawmakers) found “no clear indications that there is any non-terrestrial explanation” for the sightings. But neither did it rule it out. The report offered five typically mundane possible explanations for the UFOs and, crucially, one catch-all “other” bin.
It’s that “other” bin that has arrested the attention of stargazers and conspiracy theorists. If the US military has been quietly and seriously investigating UFOs (or, as the Pentagon would have it, UAPs) since 2007, and if the Pentagon’s official report cannot rule out the existence of extraterrestrials, is it time we looked again at claims of close encounters and the people who have made them?

Enthusiasm for UFOs and ETs has permeated popular culture ever since a US air force balloon crashed near Roswell in 1947. Conspiracy theorists confused the balloon for a UFO; the US government did a lousy job debunking those claims, and they quickly captured the public’s imagination. Fast forward to 1961, when Barney and Betty Hill told the world’s first alien abduction story.
Andrew Abeyta, professor of psychology at Rutgers University, co-authored We Are Not Alone, a study into why some of us want to believe in aliens. Abeyta explains that belief in aliens is akin to religiosity: unfounded beliefs in unfalsifiable ideas, which require a leap of faith. “People have a need to feel like their lives are meaningful, and these beliefs might suggest that there’s something bigger out there; there’s something more important going on,” Abeyta says
I tell Abeyta about an interview I carried out with a young man in Florida. The man, who did not want to be named, described an ambiguous close encounter that took place during his sleep. When I asked him what he preferred the truth to be – a real encounter or merely a vivid dream – the young man said he would prefer it to be true because that would mean he was “special”.
“I can imagine being a protagonist in an alien-abduction story seems pretty meaningful, like a meaningful achievement, an accomplishment,” Abeyta says. That feeling of specialness plays an important role in these stories. “Feeling like your unexplained experience is a result of an alien abduction just seems more exciting and more important than a natural explanation.”
Still, the topic of alien encounters remains sensitive. I discovered just how sensitive when author Whitley Strieber, who some claim was abducted by non-humans in 1985, terminated our call after learning that I had not read his books. In a subsequent email, he wrote: “I don’t know if I was abducted by aliens or not. The whole point of my work is to describe what happened to me and attempt to understand what it was. I was turned into ‘alien abductee Whitley Strieber’ by the media. That is not my position.” He added: “You are lost in space when it comes to this subject, my friend – all of you.”
After I got off on the wrong foot with Strieber, though, he did come back and introduce me to highly decorated former US navy cryptologist Matthew Roberts. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt when fighter jets recorded the infamous “Gimbal” and “Go Fast” videos of unexplained objects off the Florida coast during 2015, which went a long way to prompting the Pentagon’s UFO report.
Now retired from the military, Roberts is unmoved by the debunkers. “These things are picked up by multiple sensors that are sometimes from different manufacturers, so to think that they would all be glitching in the same way at the same time would just be impossible – it just doesn’t happen that way.”
Mick West, a science writer and video game programmer turned conspiracy-theory debunker, offers his own, more down-to-earth explanations for the objects: arguing that mundane things – tech glitches, camera glare, balloons and birds – are more likely than aliens.
However, now even the Pentagon has conceded there’s more to UFOs than that. In its nine-page report it states: “Most of the UAP reported probably do represent physical objects given that a majority of UAP were registered across multiple sensors, to include radar, infrared, electro-optical, weapon seekers and visual observation.” In other words, there was something out there and the images were not technical glitches. I ask Roberts about a theory put forward by West that the Gimbal object was glare caused by a nearby aircraft. “All aircraft – nationally, internationally – have to broadcast who they are. If they’re not broadcasting that, that’s very unusual. Mick West, bless his soul, he has never been in the military,” he says.
Roberts explains that, after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, unidentified air tracks escalate very quickly. “It will go to the captain, it will go to the admiral, and they’ll want to know what that is because the thought would immediately be: ‘Is this a commercial airliner? Has it been hijacked?’ We’re not as incompetent as Mick West would have you believe. If something is unidentified, it absolutely has to be identified immediately.”
Despite the debunkers and proliferation of more mundane explanations for UFOs, reports of close encounters have persisted for decades. Terry Lovelace, a retired assistant attorney general in Vermont, USA, and author of Incident at Devil’s Den, kept his abduction to himself for 40 years due to fear of losing his job. He had a close encounter in 1977 while serving in the US air force.
Lovelace, now 67, was on a camping trip in Devil’s Den national park in northern Arkansas with a friend and colleague named Toby when things got strange. They were sitting around a fire, struggling to chat over the din of buzzing crickets and croaking tree frogs before everything went quiet. “That sounds kind of clichéd – out of a movie – but that is exactly what happened to us,” he says.
Three bright lights appeared on the horizon and moved in their direction. When the lights were overhead, they could see that they were emanating from a black triangular prism as wide as two city blocks.
A blue laser beam darted over them, which Lovelace thought was scanning them. When it shut off, they became sleepy. Next thing, he woke and saw Toby peering out of the tent. The triangle was hovering above what appeared to be a dozen children standing in a meadow below them. “What are these kids doing out here in the middle of the night?” said Lovelace.
“They aren’t little kids. Don’t you remember they took us and they hurt us?” Toby answered.
Lovelace says the moment Toby said that, fragmented memories of being inside the UFO flashed in his mind. Years later, hypnosis helped him fill in more blanks and he recalled actually encountering creatures while inside the UFO.
‘People who were previously disbelieved and ridiculed should be listened to and given a hearing’, says Nick Pope.

For some, the fact that the Pentagon has finally admitted it cannot explain the behaviour of the objects may have been a surprise but, for PC Alan Godfrey, 73, it merely proves what he already knows.
On a windswept and wet West Yorkshire evening in November 1980, Godfrey was in hot pursuit of a herd of escaped cows in Todmorden’s housing estate. Instead of cows, he stumbled across a giant levitating diamond that would change the course of his life. Godfrey’s close encounter with this UFO went viral worldwide and transformed Todmorden into Britain’s Roswell.
Godfrey, a no-nonsense Yorkshireman born and raised in Oldham, is long retired from the force but still recalls the events of that night when he came face to face with the peculiar object – a diamond-shaped aircraft hovering 5ft off the ground while spinning on its axis.
He just had time to sketch the UFO on his notepad before he was blinded. In his next moment of conscious awareness, he was sitting in his patrol car. The UFO was gone. “I got out of the car, looked at the road surface, and it was like a whirlpool,” he says. The UFO’s rapid revolutions had arranged the dead leaves, twigs and other debris into an autumn-themed spiral.
In the aftermath of his encounter, he had visits from the Ministry of Defence, correspondence from a Russian scientist and interest from the world’s press. He even underwent hypnosis to uncover memories of his abduction.
Godfrey was ridiculed for years – many who claim to have had encounters with UFOs are reluctant to go on the record for fear of the same treatment – but things are changing. High-ranking government officials such as Christopher Mellon, a former US secretary for defence in intelligence, and Luis Elizondo, former director of AATIP, insist that there are aircraft in our skies that don’t obey the known laws of physics. Even Barack Obama has gone on record on the subject, talking to CBS this year: “There’s footage and records of objects in the skies, that we don’t know exactly what they are, we can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory. They did not have an easily explainable pattern. And so, you know I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is. But I have nothing to report to you today.”
When it comes to abduction stories, sceptics will say these encounters are either hoaxes or accounts of vivid dreams or hallucinations. Christopher French, emeritus professor of psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London, has spent years studying the paranormal and argues that sleep paralysis is a better explanation for many of these stories. “In some cases, you get associated symptoms, and they include a sense of presence; a very strong feeling that there’s something in the room with you,” French says. He adds that sufferers might hallucinate and “see strange lights moving around the room or strange figures or shadow people”.
That doesn’t fit for Godfrey’s story – he was driving and on duty at the time. “I think in Alan Godfrey’s case, he was sleep-deprived; he had been on duty for a long time. The most likely explanation is some kind of hallucinatory experience due to tiredness,” says French. What about the story he told under hypnosis? “The thing with hypnotic regression is that it is one of the best ways known of generating false memories. If you go for hypnotic regression expecting to recover memories of alien abduction, there’s a very good chance that’s what you’ll get.”
But Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator for the Ministry of Defence, is not convinced and thinks that Godfrey is genuine. “He had a lot to potentially lose by coming out with this and yet stuck to his guns.”
Doesn’t a hallucination explain what he saw? “I get that people do have hallucinations, but they tend to be the result of either mental illness or some sort of hallucinogenic substance, and this guy was on duty and was, by all accounts, rational. And so those explanations don’t seem to apply – I’m stumped when it comes to that particular case. Ask yourself: how many times have you been tired and come to the end of a long day? We’ve all been in that situation, and we don’t suddenly construct bizarre narratives about spacecraft and aliens.”
Is it time to start taking these stories more seriously? “I’m not saying that I believe it’s literally true that these are alien spaceships,” says Pope. “But at the very least, these people who were previously disbelieved and ridiculed should be listened to and given a hearing.
“For everyone who tells you these people are attention seekers after fame and fortune, I would say, ‘What fame? What fortune?’ Who outside the UFO community has heard of Alan Godfrey or Terry Lovelace?”

Does Pope think ETs are among us? “I don’t know. I am certain that they are out there, but whether they’re down here or not? I don’t know. I think it’s much more likely that we’re dealing with unmanned probes.”
If not hallucinations, equipment glitches or mistakes, many will say black ops, conducted by the US, China, Russia, or other militaries, are a more plausible explanation than aliens. “I accept that most military personnel won’t have sight of every single black project and, therefore, won’t necessarily know about every secret prototype, aircraft or drone that’s flying,” says Pope. “But the military and government, and the intelligence community have a pretty good idea of roughly where the ceiling is in terms of technology. So, when these expert military witnesses describe the sorts of speeds, accelerations, manoeuvres that are reported with these sorts of incidents, I sit up and take note.”
Whatever one thinks about the veracity of these stories, many of the people who tell them believe they are real, and some suffer from severe mental illness in the aftermath. Chris French says the levels of psychological arousal in people living with PTSD go “through the roof” when they’re asked to retell their stories. “If you do the same thing with the alien abductees, you get the same thing.”
Lovelace’s night in Devil’s Den changed his life and the life of his friend Toby. The US air force got wind of their ordeal and, per military protocol, separated and reassigned them. Lovelace ignored his orders and visited Toby to say goodbye. “Toby was falling apart,” Lovelace says. The two embraced. Toby said: “It happened, didn’t it?” “Yes, my brother, it really happened. You’re not losing your mind,” Lovelace replied.
Lovelace has suffered enormously since that night. “I’ve had 40 years’ of nightmares. I still have a phobia of crossing open ground. I still sleep with a light on and a gun beside my bed.” But he feels vindicated by acknowledgments made by the US government, military personnel and Obama. “I’ve got a long list of people that I’m going to email and say, ‘I told you so.’”
For Godfrey, it’s 40 years too late. He is adamant about what he saw that morning in Todmorden. “I’ve had all sorts: you fell into some sort of trance when you were driving – all that shit. No, it was real. It left debris on the road – my headlights were reflecting off it, as were the blue lights. This was a real incident. I didn’t need the Pentagon to tell me there are things out there. I know what I saw that night was real, nuts and bolts. If I’d got out and thrown a brick at it, it would have gone, ‘Clang!’ It doesn’t change what happened to me and how I was treated back then.”
