Before the Great Deluge, Eighth Antediluvian Kings ruled for 241,200 years

According to the accounts written down on the Sumerian King List, Eight ancient kings ruled over ancient Mesopotamia for a period of 241,200 years, before the Great Flood.

Despite the fact that the Sumerian King list names all rules who reigned over the lands of ancient Mesopotamia. Curiously, some of them are recorded having implausibly lengthy reigns.

Those are the first 8 rulers who according to the list, ruled for 241,200 years.

According to experts, none of the predynastic antediluvian rulers have so far been verified as historically accurate leaders by archaeological excavations, epigraphical inscriptions or otherwise.

The reign of antediluvian rulers was measured in sars, periods of 3600 years, ners, units of 600, and sosses units of 60.

The Sumerian King List states:

“After the kingship descended from heaven, the kingship was in Eridug. In Eridug, Alulim became king; he ruled for 28800 years.”

Alulim—28,800 years.

The first king to rule was Alulim, who ruled for 8 Sars, meaning a total of 28,800 years. He was the First ruler of Eridu, and the first king of Sumer. It is believed that Enki, the creator God and patron God od Eridu brought civilization to Sumer at this point.

Alalngar—36,000 years.

Alalngar was the second king of Eridu, and the predecessor of Alulim. The Sumerian King list states that he ruled for 36,000 years after which he was succeeded by En-men-lu-ana of Bad-tibira.

“Then Eridug fell and the kingship was taken to Bad-tibira.”

En-men-lu-ana—43,200 years

The next ruler who was king after Eridug fell was En-men-lu-ana who ruled for 43,200 years. According to the Sumerian King List, En-men-lu-ana was the third pre-dynastic ruler of ancient Sumer, and was the ‘longest reigning king’ according to historical accounts written down on the Sumerian King List.

En-men-gal-ana—28,800 years.

According to the Sumerian King List the fourth pre-dynastic ruler of Ancient Sumer was En-men-gal-ana who ruled for 28,800 years. He was succeeded by
Dumuzid, the Shepherd.

Dumuzid, commonly referred to as the ‘Shephard’ was the fifth pre-dynastic ruler that, according to the ancient Sumerian King List ruled of Sumer before the Deluge. According to historical accounts, he ruled for 36,000 years. Dumuzid is mentioned sometimes as the Son of Enki.

“Then Bad-tibira fell and the kingship was taken to Larag.”

After the fall of Bad-tibira, the Sumerian King List indicates En-sipad-zid-ana as the next ruler.

En-sipad-zid-ana—28,800 years.

En-sipad-zid-ana is mentioned as the sixth pre-dynastic ruler of ancient Sumer before the Deluge. According to the Sumerian King List, he ruled for 28,800 years.

“Then Larag fell and the kingship was taken to Zimbir.”

En-men-dur-ana—21,000 years.

The following ruler mentioned in the Sumerian King List after the fall of Larag is En-men-dur-ana, who was the seventh pre-dynastic king of Sumer and ruled for a total of 21,000 years.

“Then Zimbir fell and the kingship was taken to Shuruppag.”

After the fall of Zimbir, Ubara-Tutu ruled over ancient Sumer for a period of 18,600 years. Ubara-Tutu was the eighth and final pre-dynastic ruler of ancient Sumer, as noted in the Sumerian King List. Ubara-tutu is believed to have live until the great deluge swept over the land.

The rule of all eight kings totals 241,200 years.

Aliens on Saturn’s Icy Moon Enceladus?

New research provides evidence suggesting that life could be supported by Saturn’s icy ocean moon Enceladus.

Enceladus, an icy moon of Saturn that is about 890 million miles from Earth, hides a global ocean beneath its crust of ice. Although Enceladus is less than 1 percent the size of our moon, its hidden ocean contains up to 10 percent of the amount of water that exists on Earth.

Earlier, NASA declared that Enceladus has conditions favorable to supporting life. Now, a recent study explains how Enceladus could sustain an ocean under its icy crust and how this environment could support life. Researchers matched observations with 3D computer models that depicted a wet, rocky, porous core and illustrated the possible ways in which such an ocean could form.

Lead author Gaël Choblet, from the French National Center for Scientific Research, said, “If a new theory published last year is correct, then powerful hydrothermal activity could have been occurring since the formation of the moon, possibly as much as the age of the solar system.”

David A Rothery, professor of Planetary Geosciences at the Open University, U.K., explained, “Chemical reactions are going on even today. If it’s going on today it could have been going on a billion years into the past, and that’s long enough for life to get started—and to have evolved beyond the very most basic stages. It could be quite a complex microbial community down there and we’d love to study it.”

STUDY: EXPLORATION OF SPECIAL REGIONS NEEDED TO FIND ALIEN LIFE ON MARS

NASA’s Mars 2020 rover looks at the horizon in this artist’s concept. The mission will not only seek out and study an area likely to have been habitable in the distant past, but it will take the next bold step in the robotic exploration of the Red Planet by seeking signs of past microbial life itself.

An international team of researchers has conducted a study endorsing the exploration of the so-called Special Regions on Mars. They call for the relaxation of the planetary protection policy in order to allow sending robotic explorers to the restricted areas that could potentially host microbial life.

The Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) defines “Special Regions” as zones within which terrestrial organisms are likely to propagate, or, in the case of the Red Planet, areas having a high potential for the existence of extant Martian life forms. However, planetary protection policy puts strict constraints on the exploration of these zones with the aim of protecting the Red Planet from terrestrial biological contamination – in this case, those coming from Earth.

Given that so far none of the spacecraft missions to Mars have explored the Special Regions, a group of scientists led by Alberto G. Fairén of the Center of Astrobiology in Madrid, Spain, advocate for changes in the planetary protection policy.

“Planetary protection policies are one of the main reasons why we have not been searching for life on Mars during the last 40 years. Relaxing the policies will allow for resuming a serious biological exploration of the planet,” Fairén told Astrowatch.net.

Major evolutionary events of life on Earth represented together with the possible trajectory of a hypothetical Martian biosphere. The origin of life could have occurred on Earth, on Mars, or on both planets, and then transferred from one to the other.

Fairén and his colleagues see a paradox in the implementation of the current planetary protection policy. In their study, they underline that this policy aims to prevent contamination of celestial bodies to avoid their harmful contamination, but on the other hand, it proclaims that the conduct of scientific investigations of possible extraterrestrial life forms, precursors, and remnants must not be jeopardized.

The researchers suggest that the current cleanliness standards required in order to enter Special Regions on Mars are too high what results in missing many opportunities to explore these areas today. For instance, NASA’s Curiosity rover was recently forbidden to inspect a readily accessible recurring slope lineae to confirm whether they contain briny liquid water. Thus another robotic mission needs to be sent to Mars in order to do what Curiosity could do presently in Gale Crater.

“Protection is needed, but not the current overprotection. Current policies put Special Regions just out of the reach of any biological exploration. We advocate for relaxing the policies and allowing access to Special Regions to robots with Curiosity-like cleanliness level,” Fairén said.

Fairén’s team entitled their study “Searching for Life on Mars Before It Is Too Late” as they emphasize how much important is the quick implementation of a revised planetary protection policy. Given that NASA’s goal is to send humans to Mars in 2030s, there is not much time to determine whether any indigenous life exists on the Red Planet before astronauts set foot on the Martian surface, exposing this planet to an unprecedented level of terrestrial bioburden.

“What we highlight here is a problem of timing: if we had still 50 or 70 years with no forecasted human presence on Mars ahead of us, we could sympathize with more conservative approaches for searching for extant martian life, but manned missions are already planned and budgeted for less than 20 years from today,” the researchers wrote in the paper.

The authors of the study propose a relaxation of the current policy by mainly allowing immediate access to the Special Regions for vehicles with the cleanliness level of Curiosity, NASA’s Mars 2020 Rover, or ESA’s ExoMars mission.

“ExoMars is likewise banned to come close to Special Regions, with the result that it will be cleared to search for life everywhere on Mars except in the places where we suspect life might exist,” Fairén noted.

The study suggests that it would be necessary to reevaluate the current restrictions, making sure that the spacecraft cleanliness level for biological reconnaissance and the spacecraft cleanliness level for planetary protection are properly set to ensure searching for microbial life on the Martian soil.

Moreover, the researchers urge that our existing laboratory robotic technology is made flight ready in the search for biochemical evidence of life. They also support the idea of the development of robotic nucleic acid sequencing instrumentation for future in-situ detection and sample return mission.

Volgens weerman Frank Deboosere ging het om een vuurbol, een zeer heldere vallende ster. “Het moet een steentje van een centimeter of enkele centimeters geweest zijn, maar als dat de atmosfeer induikt, kan het zo helder zijn als een volle maan.”

Watch Elon Musk's Mars Colonization Update: "Making Life Multiplanetary"

Here's how SpaceX will pay for its Mars ambitions.

In late September, SpaceX founder Elon Musk traveled to the International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide, Australia to update the world on his company’s plans for taking humanity to Mars.

The International Astronautical Federation released the official video of his talk Monday, offering a new chance to see Musk’s plans. As Inverse reported in September, the big takeaway from the presentation is that Musk now believes SpaceX has found a way to pay for the company’s Mars ambitions.

The key, Musk explained, is through the development of the BFR — which supposedly stands for Big Falcon Rocket but, you know, the “F” probably stands for something else — to replace the existing Falcon 9 and the long-planned Falcon Heavy.

Bigger than the Saturn V that took the Apollo astronauts to the moon, this larger rocket would be able to take on all conceivable tasks in low-Earth orbit. Its reusability would, according to Musk, make it the cost-effective rocket to fly per cost of launch. This would make it the ideal workhorse for ferrying people and cargo the International Space Station and elsewhere around our planet.

Part of the plan even calls for using the BFR for passenger flights between any two points on Earth in less than an hour — though experts tell Inverse there’s reason to be skeptical of Musk’s math here.

Looking beyond Earth, Musk set 2022 as the “aspirational” date for the first two uncrewed SpaceX cargo ships to reach Mars, with 2024 as the similarly ambitious target date for the first human visitors. He also suggested the BFR could be used to help build a lunar outpost, which he gave the nerd-friendly name Moon Base Alpha.

While SpaceX has previously made Musk’s talk available as a webcast, this video from the IAF is just the headliner for a treasure trove of newly uploaded talks and discussions from the weeklong conference. What had largely been available just as a series of shakily shot periscopes is now online as official, high-definition YouTube videos. Any hardcore space nerds would do well to check them all out, but here are a few of our favorites.

Sophia the Robot is Crowdfunding AI 'Global Brain' to Make Herself Smarter

Sophia, the humanoid robot, wants to crowdfund the development of advanced artificial intelligence through a token-based system where users can buy and sell services in a marketplace. SingularityNET, the project that will enable this exchange, announced Tuesday an upcoming token sale that will help Sophia expand her capabilities.

The company describes a “global brain” with multiple A.I. systems working together to complete tasks. Developers can create new A.I.s, and users can pay to take advantage of their services through blockchain payments similar to the technology behind Bitcoin. SingularityNET is working with Cindicator, a predictive intelligence for asset management, to grow their A.I. needs.

It’s a markedly different approach to A.I. development tha the likes of Google and Facebook, which have instead depended on creating systems that benefit their overall business model. For instance, Facebook revealed this week that it was using A.I. to identify when users are thinking of suicide.

That’s a feature that could have much wider-ranging social benefits, but it’s also one designed specifically with the needs of Facebook’s social network in mind as opposed to being built expressly for the general benefit of humanity — and, as Sophia would point out, the benefit of other sentiences.

Sophia herself, whose title these days is Hanson Robotics’ “Chief Humanoid Officer,” took to video to cut a promo for SingularityNET.

The company will start selling tokens on December 8 at noon Eastern time. The amount of tokens available during the crowdsale depends on how many are sold during the as-yet unfinalized private sales. When 500 million tokens are sold for the value of $36 million between the crowd and private sales, the overall sale will end.

Pre-registration will take place through the company’s whitelist page, where potential buyers can note their interest and set a contribution amount.

FORMER NASA ASTRONAUT CLAIMS HE PERSONALLY WITNESSED A 9-FOOT-TALL EXTRATERRESTRIAL WHILE ON DUTY

While the rest of humanity is looking on solar system moons and faraway exoplanets for signs of extraterrestrial life, a Russian cosmonaut revealed that he has already found it and it’s closer than you think – on the outside of the International Space Station. Are we analyzing it … or vice versa?

In an interview with TASS (yes, the Russian media let this alien cat out of the bag, NASA), cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, busy preparing for his third trip to the International Space Station on December 17th, revealed that during his previous 365 days in space he encountered what he describes as life that was not brought to the ISS by humans or floated up on its own but has “come from outer space.”

Shkaplerov explained that he and other cosmonauts out on spacewalks used sterile cotton swabs to collect samples from the outer skin of the space station, especially from remote and obscure places where other spacewalkers haven’t looked before (hear that, NASA?). Wow. How did they determine that what they swabbed was some sort of alien bacteria?

“After that, the samples were sent back to Earth.”

Ahhhh! Really?

“They are being studied so far and it seems that they pose no danger.”

Key words in cosmonaut Shkaplerov’s statement: “so far” and “it seems.” Yes, bacteria samples have been found on the outside of the ISS before – that’s how researchers found terrestrial bacteria that reached space via some sort of ionospheric lift and survived the vacuum and severe temperature shifts of space for years. They’ve also studied microorganisms inside the ISS and observed that space can cause them to mysteriously shape-shift, making them hardier. According to Dr. Luis Zea, one of the researchers:

“We knew bacteria behave differently in space and that it takes higher concentrations of antibiotics to kill them.”

All the more reason to keep them in space rather than on Earth, right?

Too late.

Why hasn’t NASA said anything about this? Does it know all about the alleged alien bacteria and was planning to keep it quiet? There are American and international astronauts onboard the ISS and Cosmonaut Shkaplerov himself worked at the Johnson Space Center in Houston from April–October 2007 as Director of Operations for the Russian Space Agency. Now he’s returning to the space station with NASA astronaut Scott Tingle and Norishige Kanai of JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency).

What will Shkaplerov be looking for on this mission? Is he taking bigger cotton swabs? Stronger antibiotics? Petri dishes with tougher locks? Phasers?

As we continue to invent more powerful telescopes and farther-reaching proves, humankind may have finally made contact with life from outside of our own planet much more close to home. That’s according to Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, who will make this third trip to the International Space Station in December. Shkaplerov recently said in an interview that he had personally discovered foreign microbes growing on the side of the ISS.

Shkaplerov told Russian state news agency TASS that while swabbing the ISS hull for testing on a previous trip, bacteria was detected growing on the outside of the ISS which was found not have a terrestrial origin:

It turns out that somehow these swabs reveal bacteria that were absent during the launch of the ISS module. That is, they have come from outer space and settled along the external surface. They are being studied so far and it seems that they pose no danger.

While it’s awesome to imagine that these bacteria might be our first extraterrestrial contact, there is the likelihood that the bacteria were still introduced via contamination from earthly sources. Bacteria from Madagascar and plankton from the Barents Sea were found growing on the ISS earlier this year, forcing scientists to suggest raising the upper limits of the known biosphere to 400 km (248 miles). While we imagine space as empty, the space directly around the Earth can be affected by our planet through a number of processes.

Samples are routinely taken from various locations on the outside of the space station.

The remarks of cosmonaut Shkaplerov adds a new strand the web of strangeness surrounding Russia and the International Space Station. Earlier this year, the Russian space agency Roscosmos hinted at the discovery of foreign biomaterial on the outside of the space station, prompting a flyby from an American mystery satellite. Soon after, Roscosmos sent a mysterious, unidentified module up to the ISS for some sort of undisclosed experiment. Could this be the beginning of a new chapter of human history, or is Russian state media engaging in some good ol’ fashioned disinformation?

During the past three-and-a-half decades, Britain’s most famous/notorious UFO case has been the subject of numerous books, articles and documentaries. It has also generated some of the most fierce and downright nasty feuds the UFO field has ever known. We are, of course, referring to the Rendlesham Forest incident, in which US military personnel bore witness to baffling events just outside of RAF Woodbridge near Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, on the nights of December 26 and 28, 1980.

Despite having embedded itself firmly into UFO lore and having made the occasional dent in official culture as tabloid fodder, those Rendlesham UFOs—whatever they were—never managed to plant their landing gear fully into our pop-cultural landscape. That may be about to change, however.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Television has teamed up with UK-based Eleventh Hour Films forRendlesham, a major new TV drama based on the UFO incident(s).

The show is to be helmed by award-winning writer/director Joe Ahearne (Doctor Who). Co-producer Eve Gutierrez told the Hollywood Reporter:

“Joe is a master story-teller with a long-standing fascination for science-fiction so we were totally thrilled when the Rendlesham story sparked for him… Now, working with Sony Pictures Television, we are looking forward to bringing this timely, other-worldly story to the global market.”

President of international production at Sony Pictures Television, Wayne Garvie, added:

“The Cold War, Cruise Missiles, UFOs—Joe is taking extraordinary tales and giving them even more compelling twists. As a local lad, I can’t wait to see him bring his vision of Suffolk to the world.”

Ahearne himself remarked:

“When Eleventh Hour Films drew my attention to this extraordinary piece of British and American history it pressed all my buttons and I think it will do the same for a wide audience.”

It sounds like an ambitious project, and its source material is ripe for serious dramatic treatment. Could Rendlesham be the production that finally does justice to the mysterious events of those two fantastical nights in the harsh English winter of 1980, or will this sci-fi dramatization serve to further blur the boundaries between fact and fantasy in the popular consciousness? Either way, “Britain’s Roswell” is now set to receive it’s full Hollywood makeover and to join its iconic American cousin in the global spotlight.

Extremely Bizarre Encounters with Truly Surreal Mystery Humanoids

When looking at sightings reports of strange creatures and mysterious entities every so once in a while one comes across something that just seems to exist out in its own sphere of bizarreness, something so incredibly odd that it falls outside of any known category and which leave us utterly baffled. I have covered extremely bizarre cryptids of all shapes and sizes here at Mysterious Universe before, on more than one occasion in fact, as well as very unusual entities that are thought to be aliens, but at other times there is just no real classification to put some reports in, and it is not immediately clear if we are supposed to be dealing with a mystery animal, a ghost, a demon, and inter dimensional being, or what. These cases swirl about there on the outer edges of strangeness, seeming to defy us and challenge us to try and make sense of them. Here I bring you a selection of out there reports concerning humanoid creatures that lie squarely entrenched in the realm of the truly unexplained. From deer-headed men, to bizarre stick figures, to other less definable things and more, here are some of the weirdest.

One very odd humanoid creature of some sort that has been reported is what appears to be some sort of deer men, with various truly bizarre sightings of such creatures from all over the United States. One account was made in northeast Ohio by a witness who claims that he was at his cousin’s house playing hide and seek outside on day when he was 14 years old. It was reportedly around dusk, and they were playing near a wooded creek when it was the witnesses turn to search, and as he did he claims that he heard the sound of leaves crackling under foot. He turned to look expecting to see his cousin, but instead saw a deer through the brush that appeared to be oddly standing up on its hind legs, unusual for a deer but which would prove to be even stranger than that. The report reads:

It was getting dark and I was the one searching. I heard leaves crumpling, and when I turned to look, I saw what looked like a deer on its hind legs. I clearly remember seeing “dog legs” running, but the rest of the body was straight up. And it ran with incredible speed, and I knew it wasn’t either of my cousins hiding. I ran as fast as I could back to the house, and my one of my cousins was running in too, he saw the same thing. It still creeps me out to this day, because my uncle always told us how he saw weird things on that property.

A sighting of a similar creature that appears to have also had the ability of shapeshifting was made in the state of Delaware in 1993. The witness claims that he was around 8 years old at the time and he had been staying with his family at his grandparents’ house in a rural, forested area near the town of Hockessin. One morning he says he woke to a clear day with the sun shining in through the window and also the surreal sight of the silhouette of a deer with a huge rack of antlers standing just outside. Things would get bizarre rapidly, and the witness says of what happened next thus:

It was RIGHT there, like almost pressed against the window in profile. I stared in awe.
And that is when it changed. In one smooth movement, it reared up on its hind legs and it was no longer a deer, but a man. There were only two men in the area, my grandfather and my dad, and it was clearly neither (not sure if that made it better or worse). Grandfather was very built for his age, dad had a gut. This silhouette was clearly younger, muscular but not in the “like a brick” way my grandfather was. It exuded strength. And scared the hell out of me. It stared to the side for a moment, and then strode off with purpose. Looking back, I want to tell myself it was just the imagination of a half-awake child, but I remember the awe and the utter fear I felt when the “deer” changed.

Yet another Deer Man sighting was made as recently as 2012, in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma. In this account, a Kyle Heying claims that he was out at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in order to take photographs of the night sky there with a friend. On this evening at around 10 PM, the usual sounds of the forest suddenly became muted and the local wildlife started to display some decidedly bizarre and uncharecteristic behavior. First some elk came running by and then a herd of bison, which all came uncomfortably close before hurrying off, and it seemed almost as if these animals were trying to get away from something scaring them out in the dark forest beyond.

This was enough to spook the men into packing up their stuff and calling it a night, and as they did they allegedly felt a strange change in air pressure and all of the sounds of the woods just stopped to send a profound silence crashing down upon them. The two unsettled men then heard something rustling about out in some tall grass nearby, jarring in the otherwise void of silence that had blanketed the area, and it seemed like whatever it was was coming towards them. Haying claims that he and his friends had then picked up some rifles they had with them, wary of what was apparently approaching. They started the car and began to drive off when they saw something step out in front of the vehicle that they would never forget, a creature which Heying described as having a head like an elk but which stood upright on two human legs and which had two human arms and “dark red” eyes. As they passed it, the nightmarish creature lurched forward to hit the car, and Heying floored it away as fast as the vehicle would go until they were about 3 miles away, where they stopped their flight to regain their wits. Heying would say of what happened next thus:

We were scared shitless. Things got even quieter when we stayed there. While there we heard one ear-piercing screech or scream, almost a hunting screech of some sort that made my hair stand on end and gave me goose bumps even worse. With that we left the mountains completely, we felt as though we were not wanted there that night. The way the wildlife acted, the figure that we came across that the animals had to have ran from, and then the scream of which I can only find references to happens to be the Banshee. I cannot forget that figure we saw, as well as the scream. It was not human but it was not of any wildlife I am familiar with from out there.

What in the world could possibly account for what these witnesses saw? Just what kind of creature could these things possibly be and are any of these accounts connected in any way? No one knows. Deer men are not even the strangest of humanoid creatures to have been reported, and we’re just getting started. In summer of 2012 there was a head-scratching sighting near Washington Park, near Michigan City, Indiana, that is really hard to classify.

The witness claims that she had been staying at the beach house of a friend by Lake Michigan and that there had been a lightning storm at the time. At around 2 AM some of them went outside to smoke and watch the lightning, and that was when they noticed the beam of a flashlight scanning the tall grass by the shore nearby as if searching for something. Thinking this to be a bit odd, the group of friends watched on and saw that the beam had captured an elongated, grayish humanoid looking creature stretched out on the beach, and the witness would say:

The light sweeps by something in the grass, then it shines back onto it. What was illuminated was very strange. It appeared to be a naked guy crawling around on the grass. Although, it had elongated arms and legs. It was moving kinda fast crunched over. It only lasted a few seconds, long enough for all of us to see it. Then, after the thing ran off, the flashlight shines directly at us. It stayed pointing at us until it went out after a few seconds. Creepy.
So, were all like WTF was that, we ask asked what each other saw. We all seen a weird stretched out naked guy. The only explainable thing it could have possibly been was a drunk gangly naked guy. But, I don’t think so because it looked abnormally stretched, the light pointed at us, and it freaked everyone out. It was something strange. I can’t say what the height of it was accurately, maybe around 7ft tall. My husband said it looked like something from a Marilyn Manson music video.I wanted to go down there. I wanted to see if we could find it. But, no one would go and they were creeped out and wanted to go back inside.

What on earth was the outlandish thing they saw? What was with that flashlight and why did it train itself on the observers of this surreal scene? Who knows? In August of 2017 there was a series of sightings of a very strange humanoid figure on a farm near Boca Raton, Florida. The witness, who originally posted his experience on Reddit, says that on the 14th he saw something very unusual one evening at dusk as he was eating dinner and staring out over the property. He said that a very tall, grey colored humanoid that looked like the character “Gumby” lurched out of the tree line, took a few steps, and then went back into the forest lining the property. The witness says:

It was flat but its legs bended in a way that looked like a plank bending. Like how a piece of wood bows when weight is put on it but springs back up when the weight is taken off. Its body, from where I could see it, was rigid. It didn’t look flexible aside from the legs and the limbs were fairly wide
The next night, at the same time, the same exact thing happened except my parents were with me. It walked on two legs but it was more like lunges or arching steps than human walking.  I asked them if they saw that and they just said “saw what?”
Then it happened AGAIN the third night. So either my body is giving me random hallucinations in sync with my body’s time clock or there’s some weird Slendergumby demon living on the farm behind my house. I haven’t been home much recently so I haven’t been able to look for it again but if I’m able to. I haven’t seen whatever it was since those three times and was unable to get a photo of it due to how far away it was. This was in the middle of a very populated city so seeing something this outlandish in a human heavy area was quite strange.

If none of these are weird enough for you, then how about the disturbing number of reports of stick figures seen lurking in rural and deserted areas of the world? When I say stick figure I don’t mean simply something that is elongated and thin, but rather literally a stick figure, as if something a child might draw. This is what some people have apparently been sighting since at least 2008, and they are deeply bizarre to say the least. The Stick Figures are typically described as just that, tall and extremely thin dark beings with no discernible facial features and which move smoothly and fluidly, with some reports saying that they do not change dimensions no matter what angle they are observed from, as if they are actually 2D constructs, and others mentioning air pressure changes, static electricity, and a feeling of malevolence in their presence.

The tales of these creatures certainly have an urban legend vibe to them, but are nevertheless numerous enough across the Internet to deserve mention. One early account from a man named Simon Howes seems to originate from all the way back in 1982, when a witness says he was studying to be a nurse at Warley Hospital, Brentwood in Essex, England, where he saw what can only be described as a stick figure while he was walking home one night. The witness says:

I encountered a ‘stick person’ in the grounds of the Hospital as I was walking home one night. It lopped across the roadway having been, seemingly, pressed up against a wall. It stopped when it saw me and raised it’s arms in fright and quickly walked off into the undergrowth. It was very tall with very thin, extremely long arms and legs and a very small oval head. Totally black and no obvious clothing. I saw no face even though it emerged very near a street lamp and so was well illuminated. I was terrified and to this day, no-one believes me.

Another such report comes from a witness named Damien Castellione, who claims that his sister and cousin saw one of the creatures when she was a kid at their aunt’s funeral. The witness says:

You know my sister told me that she saw a stick man too when she was a kid. back then it was our aunt’s funeral and she was sitting outside the funeral when she noticed a strange “stick like person” walking back and forth above the electric wiring of the pole in front of the funeral that is (she is more or less 10 walking distance away from the pole). She got really frightened and she told our cousin to look at it, at first our cousin didn’t believe her but after a few minutes she saw the stick man too and both of them got terrified they told our cousin’s mom if she saw the stickman and she said no. it took several hours, it was noon – until dawn before it faded away. she told the story to me and I had doubts but when I saw this article I was like.. wow I never thought a lot of people saw a stickmen too from around the world.

Some of these unearthly creatures have even been apparently photographed, although the quality of this evidence leaves much to be desired. Such reports have actually pored in from all corners of the globe, and it seems to be a phenomenon for which there is no clear answer. Is this just an urban legend in the making? If these stick-like figures are actually real then what could they possibly be? Aliens? Inter-dimensional beings or ghosts? What? Whatever they are or aren’t, actual literal stick figures prowling darkened roads and woods at night have to rank right up there as among the oddest, most bizarre things anyone could expect to come across.

It seems that the world of strange sightings can often truly veer off into completely uncharted territory and things that seem unable to truly be classified, existing in their own fringe world of sheer, utter insanity. There they lurk in the dim confines of a realm we have no understanding of and of which many do not even know is there at all. These are things for which there is no easy way to classify, things which seem to have lurched out of some sort of horror story. What are these creatures, if anything? How can we explain these oddities and anomalies? If we can glean anything from this it is that these are some truly strange bizarre sightings out there that defy conventions, and which may never cease to puzzle.

Giant 3-Mile-Wide Asteroid 3200-Phaethon to Shave Earth’s Orbit before Christmas

A mysterious 3-mile-wide asteroid is going to buzz our planet before Christmas.

Although NASA has classified it has a ‘potentially hazardous asteroid’ and Russian astronomers have warned that the object will fly past ‘quite close there is no chance it will hit us as it will pass 6.4 million miles from Earth on December 17, 2017.

The huge asteroid 3200 Phaethon is named after the Greek demi-god who according to the legend, borrowed the sun chariot from his father the God Helios, however, Phaethon was unable to control the horses and nearly set the Earth on fire due to the misdriving of the sun’s chariot before being killed by Zeus who was forced to kill Phaethon with a thunderbolt to avoid a disaster.

The asteroid 3200 Phaethon is the long-sought parent body of the Geminids meteor shower. The meteor shower which can be seen from December 4-16, 2017 reaching its peak around December 13 while asteroid 3200 Phaethon will also be bright enough to see in small telescopes.

Phaethon which means ‘the shining one’ will probably bring some nice fireworks in the sky.

Farmers in the Niali district of India are reporting a series of horrific sheep mutilations that has seen five sheep killed in three separate villages this week. All of the sheep were found eviscerated with their livers almost surgically removed through their abdomens. Unidentified footprints have been found near the scenes of the crimes, reports local news outlet Kalinga TV, but the identity of the animal (or whatever) responsible is still unknown. These new mutilations bring this month’s death toll to close to thirty sheep.

It seems something has developed a taste for sheep in the rural Niali region of India. Over the last few months, hundreds of sheep have been brutally slain and mutilated despite the best efforts of forest officials and local wildlife experts. The culprit has never been caught, much less identified. Local shepherd Nilamani Das told Times of India that sheep farmers in the area are terrified by the unexplained killings which follow the pattern of a series of mutilations earlier this year:

We sustained huge losses after our sheep were killed by unknown animal in June. We were not compensated also. With much difficulty we started our lives again and see the predator has come again to haunt us.

Forest officials, meanwhile, are clueless, replying only with “We are trying our best to catch the killer animal.” Sheep farmers have taken to guarding their flocks at night and even sleeping among the animals to protect them from whatever could lurk in the shadows.

It’s been a bad year to be a sheep.

While these killings sound awfully reminiscent of many mythological creatures like the Chupacabra, the animal’s identity and motivation is likely a much sadder tale. Changing climate patterns and continued human population growth have pushed many once-elusive animals into direct contact with humans. Unfortunately, this growth has meant bringing our livestock directly to these predators whose once plentiful prey and habitat are now long gone. Sure, maybe it’s a horrible nightmarish beast. But maybe, though, the creature is us. Maybe we are the nightmarish beast, bumbling our way towards causing a mass extinction with our insatiable growth. Until the killer in Niali is caught, there’s no telling for sure what might be prowling in the darkness.
