The Antarctic has lost three trillion tons of ice since 1992

Researchers have quantified how much ice the Antarctic has lost in the past 26 years, and it’s an ungodly amount: 3,000,000,000,000 tons. This is the most complete picture of Antarctic ice sheet change to date — 84 scientists from 44 international organizations combined 24 satellite surveys to produce the assessment.

As any teenager who hasn’t failed his science class should be able to tell you, rising temperatures lead to melting ice, and this is easy to spot in the Antarctic, as well as in many other places around the world. Antarctica’s ice sheets have enough ice to raise sea water levels by 58 meters, and we’re already seeing the start of this process.

Since 1992, 3 trillion tons of ice have melted, corresponding to a rise of 8 millimeters. While that may seem like a trivial amount, it’s important to note that this is global sea level, which is actually a huge amount.

Antarctica’s ice sheets are also regarded a key indicator of climate change and a driver of sea-level rise. Since 1989 more than 150 calculations and estimates have been made, this one being the latest.

Using 24 independent satellite-observation-based estimates of ice-sheet mass balance determined within the period of 1992–2017, researchers from the Ice sheet Mass Balance Inter-comparison Exercise (IMBIE) have analyzed Antarctica’s melting, finding that ocean-driven melting led to a tripling of ice-loss rates from West Antarctica, from 53 billion to 159 billion tonnes per year. This ice loss rate has also increased from 7 to 33 billion as a result of ice sheet collapse.

Co-author Professor Martin Siegert from the Grantham Institute – Climate Change and the Environment at Imperial said: “Some of the changes Antarctica will face are already irreversible, such as the loss of some ice shelves, but there is a lot we can prevent or reverse.

“To avoid the worst impacts, we will need strong international cooperation and effective regulation backed by rigorous science. This will rely on governments recognising that Antarctica is intimately coupled to the rest of the Earth system, and damage there will cause problems everywhere.”

Researchers depict two scenarios: one in which tight regulations have been implemented, and one in which they haven’t. According to their analysis, by 2070, the Antarctic will look drastically different depending on what scenario takes place. Under the high emissions and low regulations narrative, Antarctica and the Southern Ocean undergo widespread and rapid change with global consequences:

• By 2070, warming of the ocean and atmosphere will cause dramatic loss of major ice shelves, leading to increased loss of grounded ice from the Antarctic Ice Sheet and causing a global acceleration in sea level rise.
• As the planet continues to warm up, sea ice retreats more and more, and ocean acidification is taking a huge toll on marine environments.
• An unexpected problem emerges as unrestricted growth in the human use of Antarctica has degraded the environment and introduced invasive pests.

Under the low emissions and tight regulations narrative, Antarctica 2070 looks just like in the early 2000s.

• Antarctica’s ice shelves have remained intact, slowing the loss of ice from the ice sheet and reducing the threat of sea level rise.
• Ocean acidification has not worsened and Antarctic ecosystems have remained intact.
• Human pressures on the Antarctic are managed by an increasingly collaborative and effective governance regime.

Professor Siegert said:

“If the political landscape of a future Antarctica is more concerned with rivalry, and how each country can get the most out of the continent and its oceans, then all protections could be overturned.”

“However, if we recognise the importance of Antarctica in the global environment, then there is the potential for international co-operation that uses evidence to enact changes that avoid ‘tipping points’ – boundaries that once crossed, would cause runaway change, such as the collapse of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet.”

The assessment, led by Professor Andrew Shepherd at the University of Leeds and Dr. Erik Ivins at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, was supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The importance of space agencies in assessing these environmental scenarios remains of crucial importance.

At the end of the day, it’s up to us as a society to decide which of the two scenarios we will experience.

Astronomen ontdekken drie planeten-in-wording rond jonge ster HD 163296 - HLN.be

Dankzij een nieuwe planeetopsporingstechniek, waarmee ongewone patronen in de gasstroom binnen de protoplanetaire schijf van stof en gas rond een jonge ster te vinden zijn, hebben twee teams van astronomen nu de onmiskenbare kenmerken van pas gevormde planeten vastgelegd.  De teams analyseerden waarnemingen van HD 163296, een jonge ster in het sterrenbeeld Boogschutter, op ongeveer 330 lichtjaar van ons. Deze ster heeft ongeveer twee keer zoveel massa als de Zon, maar is slechts vier miljoen jaar oud - minder dan een duizendste van de leeftijd van onze ster. “We hebben gekeken naar lokale, kleinschalige bewegingen van het gas in de protoplanetaire schijf van de ster. Met deze geheel nieuwe aanpak zouden we enkele van de jongste planeten in ons Melkwegstelsel kunnen ontdekken, allemaal dankzij de hoge-resolutiebeelden van ALMA”, zegt Richard Teague van de Universiteit van Michigan.

In plaats van zich te concentreren op het stof in de schijf, dat duidelijk is vastgelegd bij eerdere ALMA-waarnemingen, onderzochten de astronomen de verdeling van koolstofmonoxide (CO) in de schijf. CO-moleculen zenden zeer karakteristieke millimeterstraling uit die ALMA heel gedetailleerd kan waarnemen. “You will be part of the five proud branches of the United States Armed Forces… Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and the Coast Guard.” These were the words of U.S. President Donald Trump back in May, during a ceremony at the Whitehouse honoring the Army Black Knights college football team. Up to this point, his comments were fairly pedestrian… but of course, that’s just about when things took a turn for the stars.

“We’re actually thinking of a sixth [branch]” Trump continued, “and that would be the Space Force. Does that make sense?”

Well, for the most part. Wait, was he serious?

“This is perhaps because we’re getting very big in space, both militarily and for other reasons, and we are seriously thinking of the Space Force.”

The question remains as to who the “we” he was referring to might have been… although in truth, rumors are already floating around on the web suggesting that Trump actually got his “Space Force” off the ground after all… and one of its clandestine vessels might be parked on the moon.

At least that was the view being expressed by those commenting on one Scottish man’s popular YouTube channel, where he shows footage that he believes to be proof of a mysterious “triangular” object on the lunar surface.

The National recently reported that “A Scottish UFO researcher’s video of a mysterious triangle on the surface of the moon has gone viral on the internet.

“Uploaded to his Streetcap1 channel on YouTube, George Graham’s video had attracted well over 12,000 views by last night, just a few hours after it was first shown.”

Taking a look at the the YouTuber’s channel, with all due respect, it appears to be more of the usual humdrum: people talking about mysterious shapes and odd rock formations on the lunar surface, and whether some of them could be UFO craft and the like. To some, they look like rocks scattered about on the moon… to others, they could be evidence of alien life. 

As for a “Triangle TR-3B” parked on the moon, and whether or not it’s part of Trump’s so-called “Space Force,” well… let’s just say we aren’t convinced. But perhaps the saddest part of all this is that over the years, there have been a number of serious scientists who have spent time (even while on the clock working for NASA) studying anomalies that appear on not just our moon, but on moons orbiting other planets in our solar system, such as the Martian moon Phobos.

Among these was Lan Fleming, an imaging expert who processed scores of photos and footage collected by various NASA missions over the years (see here for his full educational background). Fleming was subcontracted to the Johnson Space Flight Center during the 1990s, and became known for taking an interest in the various unusual features that turned up occasionally on Earth’s moon and other orbital bodies throughout the solar system of which visual data obtained.

Sometime after the Mars Global Surveyor probe photographed the Martian moon Phobos in 1998, Fleming was contacted by a visual artist and writer named Efrain Palermo, who had been referred to Fleming by Dr. Mark Carlotto, an imaging expert who had previously lent his expertise to study of the Cydonia region on Mars. Palermo had discovered an unusual feature on Phobos, which appeared to be a large structure or other feature that cast an unusually long shadow. Fleming had noticed it too while reviewing various footage from the Mars Global Surveyor; however, he had initially interpreted the long shadow was merely due to a low sun angle relative to the position of Phobos in its orbit around Mars.

Further communication between the two led to the discoverythat some of the features on the surface of Phobos had been distorted in the images Palermo and Fleming had been analyzing, which gave the appearance of unusually long shadows. Nonetheless, after corrections were made (and these “orthorectified” images were compared with the unaltered originals from NASA), it became evident that the shadow of Palermo’s mysterious “monolith” was indeed very long.

Fleming noted the following of the strange object:

There seems to be no good reason to put the word “monolith” in quotes to describe this object. Efrain’s interpretation is absolutely correct. At the very least, this object is a monolithic block of stone, although it’s high reflectivity may indicate that it is composed of something else. But how likely is it that it’s artificial? That depends in part on how tall the object is relative to the width of its base. A block of stone several times longer than its height created from the impact of some large meteoroid would be unlikely to land on its narrow end and remain upright.

Palermo even produced images of what he estimated the rough shape and size of the object to be (which can be seen here). Fleming concluded that “Unfortunately, the Mars Global Surveyor, now in a low mapping orbit around Mars, will never have another close encounter with Phobos. That will have to remain the task of some future spacecraft.” He added (somewhat cryptically), “Given NASA’s history of avoiding any intentional examination of anomalous objects, it will probably have to happen by accident. But Phobos is a very small world, so if other spacecraft have close encounters with Phobos in the future, there is a fair chance we eventually will see this monolith again.”

The Phobos “monolith” (yes, we’re still using the quotation marks, despite Fleming’s reasonable objection to it) is but one of many genuine anomalies in our solar system that should warrant further attention. It is our contention, at very least, that such “Phobian” mysteries, as well as other notable oddities on our own moon (click here to see my article on one of these), should certainly warrant more consideration than the usual tripe that appears in tabloids these days.

When science can be applied to such mysteries, only then should they be deemed “anomalies; anything else is purely pareidolia, and is tantamount to lazy afternoon cloud-gazing.

Mystery object spotted over Washington state island, military denies missile launch

A weather camera on an island in Washington state on Sunday captured a mystery object that appears to some to be a missile in ascent, Q13Fox.com reported.

The object was spotted at 3:56 a.m. over Whidbey Island, where there is a naval air station. But a spokesman from NAS Whidbey Island said there are no missile capabilities at the base.

"There's a lot of speculation around here,” Tom Mills, the spokesman, said. "But it's definitely not a missile launch."

A professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington speculated that the object looks like a missile.

“I’ve seen a lot of stuff,” Cliff Mass, the professor, said. “But nothing like this.”

There was reportedly an air ambulance helicopter in the vicinity of the northern Kitsap Peninsula that was flying at the same time the shot was taken.

Now I found this anomaly today that seems to have eyes in one of the photos. It was caught in two photos. I have seen over 100 photos of this rock in the past two weeks (rover sat here for a while), and never have I seen this anomaly in one of the photos before. Also note, the photos were taken a few hours ago, not weeks or months ago!

 

It looks like an animal caught running past the cam. It must have been very light footed or the dirt was very hard, because I don't see a trail before or after it. It could be a species similar to the lizard here on Earth that berries itself in the sand and disappears. There is one full hour between the photo of no anomaly and the anomaly. 

 

This is more evidence that life exists on Mars and NASA wants to hide it from the world. They don't have the mission to explore and share with the public. Alien life is a national security issue and therefore will never be shared with the public.

Alien Implants: The Ultimate Proof Of Alien Abductions?

Every time we speak about aliens, we talk about UFO sightings. When talking about UFO signs, people speak of alien abductions, and when you read about a case where someone claims to be abducted, you end up learning about alien implants.

But what are the mysterious, miniature devices? Fact or fiction? If proven authentic, these implants could be considered as crystal-clear evidence of an alien presence on Earth.

For years, the general public has been tormented by stories of UFO sightings, and even, in some cases, even alien encounters.

However, fact-checking these stories have been disappointingly challenging to achieve.

More often than not, it simply comes down to taking a person’s word for it.

In some cases, photographs have been taken, but, inevitably, questions about their authenticity always come to light.

Therefore, when it comes down to aliens, and UFOs, physical evidence has been treated as the Holy Grail of UFO research.

The amount of “official” information about the UFO phenomenon that has been made available thanks to ufology reports around the world is impressive.

In recent years, various governments around the world have taken a step towards Disclosure as they’ve started releasing an ample amount fo top-secret documents about the UFO Phenomenon.

Not long ago, if you remember, NASA brought together scientists, theologians, philosophers, and historians to examine how to prepare the world for alien contact, whether it be microbial organisms or intelligent beings.

Recently, declassified materials have revealed that the Pentagon spent at least 22 million dollars researching the UFO phenomena in a secret program that existed for at least three years.

According to reports, from 2008 through 2011, the Pentagon spent a budget of around 22 million dollars on a program that investigated UFO’s. Called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, the mysterious secret program was supposedly shut down in 2012.

Anyway, getting back to alien implants…

Strange marks on the body and implants extracted from people who claim to have been abducted have been present whenever someone comes forward saying he or she was abducted by aliens.

The case of the extracted implants is very fascinating, and if proven authentic, this material could be considered as the long searched for scientific evidence of the existence of aliens, and alien abductions.

Dr. Roger Leir is arguably the best person with ‘experience’ in the extraction of extraterrestrial implants. According to Dr. Leir, he performed 17 surgeries in which he extracted small objects of unknown origin.

According to Dr. Leir, a hallucinatory feature is that these supposed incrustations the size of a pencil point were magnetic in nature, and some even emitted radio frequencies.

Other objects examined had meteorite fragments inside them; metals such as gallium, germanium, platinum, ruthenium, rhodium, and iridium.

According to Alex Mosier, who has a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Chemistry, and Physics, who examined the pieces together with Leir, fibers were found very similar to carbon nano-tubes, suggesting that the fragments were designed or manufactured:

“You would not find these things in nature, they have to be processed, they require complex engineering, and they are not easy to manufacture. ”

As noted by mufon.com, tests were performed on both the removed alien implants and the individuals several years after surgical removal.

The alleged implants removed from the first set of surgeries were studied by two different pathologists and then sent to various independent laboratories for extensive scientific analysis. The tests performed on these alleged alien implants were: a pathology/tissue evaluation, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), extensive metallurgical testing involving a density immersion test, X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction pattern analysis and electron/magnetic and fluorescence property analysis. Isotopic range tests are also in progress. Tests were conducted by the National Institute of Discovery of Science (NIDS), New Mexico Tech, and other independent sources.

“The findings of these implant surgeries are highly unusual,” reported Dr. Leir. “In all these cases, there was virtually no inflammatory response.”

This is not the usual finding in foreign tissue reactions. Typically, foreign bodies embedded in tissues result in some type of acute or chronic inflammatory response and may include fibrosis and cyst formation. Such was not the case here. The pathology reports of the first two surgeries revealed that the metallic objects were encased in a very dense, tough, grey membrane consisting of proteinaceous coagulum, hemoseridin, and pure keratin.

More directly, blood protein and skin cells that are usually found in the superficial layer of the skin. Biological “cocoons” encasing the implants were also found to contain nerve proprioceptors – nerve and pressure cells of the wrong tissue type for that part of the body. These implant cocoons also fluoresced a bright green color in the presence of an ultraviolet light source.

Dr. Leir, who also worked as a consultant physician at the Mutual UFO Network, claimed that the people from whom he extracted the alien objects had no visible scars or disruption in the integrity of the skin.

There were no signs of inflammation, but the X-rays showed the incrustation, which seemed almost impossible.

The specialist in podiatry died on March 14, 2014 (paradoxically, due to a foot injury), so his studies did not go beyond a limited budget that prevented further understanding of the findings.

Until now, medicine, and probably other scientific fields, have had a phobia with respect to performing tests on people who claimed to have been abducted.

There are very few scientists and doctors who have dared to venture out into UFOlogy, especially because of the loss of prestige that this entails. However, if we are to come to the bottom of the UFO mystery, scientists, doctors, and other experts should start thinking about proactively participating in the UFO discussion, as only then will we be able to fully understand what on Earth is going on.

The world of Hollywood has always been quick to (a) pick up on what’s going on in the real world of unsolved mysteries of the conspiratorial and supernatural kind and (b) make use of those same mysteries in hit TV shows and mega-bucks movies. Take, for example, the 1994 movie, Roswell, starring Kyle MacLachlan and Martin Sheen. It’s a production that did a pretty good job of fictionalizing the world’s most famous UFO case. Then, there’s 1997’s Men in Black, starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, a movie that brought the dark-suited silencers of Ufology to a new, huge audience. And, of course, there’s The X-Files, which weaved far more than a few well-known enigmas into its plot-lines, including the Jersey Devil, lake monsters, and the world’s most famous, secret base, Area 51.

There is, however, one particularly sinister and enduring mystery that, for the most part, falls under Hollywood’s radar. Yes, it occasionally gets touched upon. Sometimes, it will get more than a few minutes of coverage. But, chiefly, it never gets the airtime that many might say it well deserves. You may be wondering what I’m talking about. Well, I’ll tell you: it’s the mysterious matter of cattle mutilations.

There’s a truly awful 1980 movie on the subject titled The Return. Indeed, it’s not even worth commenting on. So I won’t! There is, however, one film which is definitely worth commenting on. Its title: Endangered Species. It’s a well-researched movie that stars the late Robert Urich (of Vegasfame), who finds himself plunged into the heart of a menacing and disturbing conspiracy in the Centennial State, Colorado.

Directed and co-written by Alan Rudolph, Endangered Speciesfocuses on one Ruben Castle (Urich). He’s a Big Apple-based police-officer. He has a major drink problem. And, his relationship with his daughter, Mackenzie (Marin Kanter) is rocky, to say the least. So, something has to give. And it does. Castle decides that the best thing he can do is to get out of New York for a while, quit the bottle for good, and try and mend fences with his daughter. It doesn’t quite work out like that, however.

After arriving in a small Colorado town, specifically one where an old friend in the world of newspapers, Joe Hiatt (played by Paul Dooley) lives and works, both Castle and his daughter cause problems for the local police. And particularly so for the local sheriff, Harriet Purdue – played by actress JoBeth Williams. Indeed, Castle is not a particularly endearing character: he’s a drunk with a hair-trigger temper, and, while in Colorado, he fails to stay on the wagon. But, it’s to the credit of the production team that they chose to make their star a flawed figure, rather than playing things safe and going with the typical Hollywood “hero.” And Urich does a very good job of giving substance to the role of Castle. All of which brings us to the plot: something downright deadly is afoot.

In no time at all, Castle learns that something very strange is going on in town and in the surrounding fields of local farmers. Cattle have been found killed under very strange circumstances. Organs are removed with what appears to be expert precision. Incisions seem to have been achieved by nothing less than lasers. Everyone in town is on edge. Ranchers are angry and outraged. That’s hardly surprising, given that there is talk of UFOs skulking around in the dead of night. There are whispers, too, of satanic cults roaming the area, sacrificing the cows in devilish rituals. And, the audience is given tantalizing glimpses of strange lights in the sky. What’s going on? That’s the question that Castle finds himself pursuing, more by accident than by design.

As Endangered Species progresses we see Castle and Sheriff Purdue hook up in more ways than one. And we see that what begins as a tale filled with accounts of aliens and devil-worshipers, soon becomes something very different. In many ways, it’s something even more deadly and dangerous than beef-loving ETs or devotees of Satan. Particularly deadly and dangerous are Hoyt Axton and Peter Coyote. Or, rather, they should be dangerous.

Axton plays Ben Morgan, a powerful figure in town. He appears to know far more than he’s willing to admit. Whereas, Coyote’s character is someone known only as Steele, a man who definitely knows more than he’s saying. It’s unfortunate, however, that both characters come across like stereotypical, over-the-top, we’ve-seen-it-all-before arch-villains. Indeed, Steele would have been perfectly at home in one of those old, 1920s-era silent movies, in which the black-cloaked villain ties a beautiful blond to the railroad tracks and eagerly rubs his hands (and twiddles his mustache) as a fast-approaching train threatens to end her life.

That quibble aside, however, Endangered Species is not a bad movie at all. As the story continues, we see far less talk about aliens and UFOs, and far more about black and near-silent helicopters, secret biological- and germ-warfare programs, and paramilitary-style operations of a very dark kind. We also see Joe Hiatt killed for poking his nose where it wasn’t wanted. Ben Morgan comes to a grisly end, too. All of which leads us to a solid, suspense-filled conclusion and an answer to the mystery.

In case this article prompts you to delve into Endangered Species for yourself, I won’t spoil things by revealing the outcome, and who – or what – is really mutilating cattle in Colorado and elsewhere. And why. I will, however, say that this is a well-made, largely engrossing, movie. For me, at least, it echoes in many ways the likes of certain classic 1970s-era movies, such as The Parallax View, Capricorn One, and All the President’s Men, in terms of the on-screen paranoia, suspicion of government, and mystery that those movies so skillfully generated. Endangered Species does very much the same. It’s not the greatest movie ever made. But, it is a largely well-acted, and well-made, production. It’s a very thought-provoking film, too, given what we know (or don’t know) about cattle mutilations in the real world.

While UFOs are often seen as objects that belong in the imagination of conspiracy theorists, the British Government has taken them very seriously for years.

In 2008, the Government started to release its UFO files to the public in the hopes of being as transparent as possible.

But while the release process was expected to take three years at most, three files still haven’t been made public, according to Nick Pope, a former employee at the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Mr Pope said: “Having worked on the Ministry of Defence's UFO project and having written many of the documents that have already been released, I'm extremely disappointed that ten years after the release of the first files, the project is still incomplete.”

Why the Government is withholding the files remains unclear, but Mr Pope explained that the files have been sent backwards and forwards between the MoD and The National Archives at least twice, adding to people's suspicions.

Mr Pope said: “A lot of people think the government is covering up the truth about UFOs and this unfortunate situation is only adding fuel to the fire with regard to these conspiracy theories.”

Mr Pope added that while he and his colleagues took the issue of UFOs seriously, they were often forced to ‘spin’ the subject for the media, ‘disingenuously stating that the subject was of "no defence significance"'.

Have The Ancient Ruins Of Atlantis Been Found In Antarctica?

I mean who doesn’t want to find Atlantis, right?

According to satellite images on Google Earth, there is a strange area in Antarctica which supposedly reveals a structure that, according to some theorists, could belong to lost ancient civilization, and not just any lost civilization, but Plato’s Atlantis.

As expected, the video detailing the possible ‘discovery’ was posted by the Conspiracy Depot channel, and it shows a series of lines that according to the video’s narrator, appear to have an artificial origin and have been exposed due to the melting of the ice in the region.

“The three parts of this structure are separated by equal distances and all are approximately seven meters long,” says Graham Maple, owner of the YouTube channel.

“It looks ancient, almost as if it had been carved into the rock itself. I think this was what was left of a building or structure. I think there were great civilizations in the ancient Antarctic continent and maybe Antarctica was even home to the mythical Atlantis, “he said.

2There is much-forgotten knowledge of our ancient history. We are beginning to scratch the surface with this new discovery,” concluded Maple.

According to Mapple, Atlantis, or the ruins of another ancient empire, are buried somewhere beneath the Antarctic ice.

If we read what Plato wrote about the mythical city/continent than no.

The Story of Atlantis

In Timaeus and Critias, written around 360 BC Plato described—through the voice of Critias—how Solon, a highly respected and well known Greek Statement traveled to Sais and met with priests from the goddess Neith.

It is there where an extremely old priest tells Solon about an empire that existed 9,000 years before him, which was at war with Athens.

Eventually, this empire identified as ‘Atlantis’ was destroyed by a great catastrophe.

Sonchis explained that Atlantis’ capital city was elaborately constructed, where great temples and palaces were erected, adorned by exotic gardens made of silver, gold and, ivory. Sonchis further described the capital of the Atlantean empire as being made of massive walls, which in turn were surrounded by circular islands protecting the inner citadel of the metropolis.

And according to Plato, Atlantis was located “beyond the Pillars of Hercules“. While Antarctica is beyond the pillars, it isn’t anywhere near where Plato said the mighty Atlantean empire disappeared.

However, as noted by experts, Antarctica wasn’t always the frozen continent and was certainly not always located where it today (geographically).

While this may not be Atlantis, it certainly is interesting to see what future explorations of the frozen continent will yield, and whether or not it’s possible that in the distant past, perhaps even before written history, great civilizations ruled the earth.

A neutron star is a formerly large star that has run out of fuel and exploded as a supernova. As gravity forces the star to collapse to the size of a small city, the star becomes so dense that a single teaspoon of the collapsed star would have as much mass as a mountain. The star’s core, now a neutron star, can be rotating as fast as 10 times a second or more. Over time the rotation of the core can start speeding up by pulling matter from its surroundings, rotating over 700 times a second!

Some neutron stars, called radio pulsars, have strong magnetic fields and emit radio waves in predictable, reliable pulses. Other neutron stars have even stronger magnetic fields, displaying violent, high-energy outbursts of X-ray and gamma ray light. These are called magnetars, and their magnetic fields are the strongest known in the universe, a trillion time stronger than that of our sun.

Since the 1970s, scientists have treated pulsars and magnetars as two distinct populations of objects. But, in the last decade, evidence has emerged that shows they might sometimes be stages in the evolution of a single object. Neutron stars and magnetars might just be two sides of the same coin – first it’s a radio pulsar and later becomes a magnetar. Or maybe it’s the other way around.

Some scientists argue that objects like magnetars gradually stop emitting X-rays and gamma rays over time. Others propose the opposite theory: that the radio pulsar comes first and then, over time, a magnetic field emerges from the neutron star causing those magnetar-like outbursts to start.

No one knows for sure which scenario is correct, but this is an active area of study among astronomers. The NASA video above – released on May 30, 2018 – has more.

Bottom line: Radio pulsars and magnetars might be two sides of the same coin, that is, two stages in the life of a single object.

Arizona  Light

Casa  Grande  —  My  dad  texted  me  and  told  me  there  are  some  strange  lights  in  the  sky  on  the  west  side  of  Gila  Bend.  He  knows  that  I’m  into  this  stuff.  So  I  looked  in  that  direction.  I  saw  a  fireball  like  light  flashing.  I  thought  it  was  a  plane  at  first  but  it  didn’t  move,  it  was  flashing  different  colors  it  was  hovering.  I  started  recording  on  my  phone.  I  notice  two  little  red  lights  on  the  bottom  creating  a  triangle.  Then  after  that  they  disappeared.  I  was  excited  because  I  had  experienced  a  dark  grey  triangle  in  Gila  Bend  on  December  14,  2017.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

California  Object

Redding  —  A  friend  of  mine  took  me  up  in  his  plane  out  of  the  Redding  Municipal  Airport.  I  brought  my  camera  to  do  some  aerial  photography.  We  were  off  the  ground  and  I  took  a  photo  of  the  runway  as  we  ascended.
I  didn’t  notice  any  object  and  I  first  noticed  the  object  when  I  downloaded  my  photos  to  process  them  in  Photoshop.

It  had  a  distinct  shape  and  flight  angle,  but  I  don’t  know  which  direction  it  was  traveling.

I  was  only  observing  our  forward  take  off  through  my  camera’s  viewfinder.  I  don’t  know  how  fast  a  propeller  turns,  but  the  object  came  out  more  distinct  than  the  propeller.
I  applied  the  burn  tool  on  Photoshop  to  the  object  to  bring  out  a  bit  more  detail.  In  doing  so,  I  realize  that  may  have  rendered  the  object  as  something  that  it  is  not.  But  the  object  intrigued  me  enough  to  consider  that  maybe  I  unintentionally  captured  an  image  of  an  UFO.  I  sent  the  image  to  my  friend  who  piloted  the  plane  and  he  sent  it  on  to  MUFON.  I  used  a  Sony  a77,  Sony  16-50  f:2.8  lens.  Settings  were:  f/6.3,  1/1000th  second,  ISO  160  and  taken  at  24mm  focal  length.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Colorado  Light

Denver  —  I  was  just  watching  tv  after  a  12  hour  shift  on  May  31,  2018.  The  light  shining  off  of  the  object  was  bright  enough  for  me  to  look  out  the  window.  I  seriously  thought  it  was  the  moon,  except  the  moon  is  not  in  that  quadrant  at  12:30  am.  The  light  from  it  was  shining  so  brightly,  that  the  outline  of  a  cross  surrounded  it.  I  was  honestly  in  shock.  I’ve  always  wanted  to  see  a  UFO,  so  it  was  a  thrilling  moment  for  me.  Hopefully  the  pics  show  some  of  what  I  saw.  The  object  slowly  flew  away  towards  a  weird  object  far  away  that  looked  like  some  sort  of  gate.  It  was  a  really  thrilling  experience.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Florida  Alien

Tampa — I  was  told  the  following  story by the witness who  was  asleep  in  bed  in  the  middle  of  the  night  with  his  wife  when  something  woke  him  up.  He  looked  over  and  he  saw  his  wife  sitting  on  the  side  of  the  bed  with  her  back  to  him.  She  would  not  answer  to  her  name  when  he  tried  to  get  her  attention.  He  leaned  over  so  he  could  see  her  face  and  saw  her  holding  a  small  grey  figure  in  her  hands.  It  had  a  head  and  big  eyes,  almond  eyes.  The  grey  figure  and  the  wife  were  looking  at  each  other  but  smoke  was  being  exchanged  between  their  two  mouths.  The  husband  slapped  the  grey  figure  out  of  his  wife’s  hands  and  it  tumbled  to  the  floor.  He  got  up  and  tried  to  grab  it  but  it  screamed,  using  his  wife’s  voice!  The  grey  dove  out  the  window  and  was  gone.  When  he  woke  his  wife  up,  she  didn’t  remember  anything.  Thanks  to  John  Guerra

Georgia  Object

On  October  17,  2016,  I  was  outside  at  my  residence  sky  watching  when  I  saw  and  photographed  numerous  UFO  objects.  I  had  just  started  sky  watching  as  a  pastime  hobby.  So  I  did  not  think  anything  of  it  at  the  time.  Being  a  newbie  to  sky  watching  I  thought  maybe  I  had  been  shaking  the  camera  a  little,  which  could  have  caused  light  of  a  star  to  blur  and  be  all  over  the  place.  This  past  week  I  was  going  over  a  lot  of  my  photo’s  and  recording’s  from  the  past  couple  of  years  and  I  came  across  these  pictures  of  UFO’s.  I  have  poured  over  them  all  and  after  two  years  of  observing.  I  now  know  what  I  photographed  was  some  sort  of  craft.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Salem  —  I  was  traveling  on  my  way  to  work  on  Saturday  June  2^nd,2018,  in  the  evening  around  5:30pm.  watching  a  storm  close  in  over  the  area.  something  out  of  place  caught  my  eye  and  I  slowed  my  vehicle,  took  a  couple  of  pictures  and  continued  on  my  way  to  work.  I  reviewed  the  pictures  yesterday  afternoon  and  found  the  objects  in  question  then.    Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Galesburg  —  I  go  outside  everyday  at  5-5:30  and  I  face  away  from  sun  at  its  brightest.

I  sit  the  sun  on  my  head,  and  take  a  picture.  Everyday  a  blue  sphere  appears  in  my  pictures  during  this.

In  pictures  from  June  4  2018,  I  noticed  a  cigar  shaped  object  in  the  sky  above  me.

Indiana  Disk

Palmyra  –I  was  taking  a  picture  of  our  willow  tree  for  a  website.  I  did  not  see  or  hear  the  object  while  taking  the  pic.  I  saw  it  after  I  looked  at  the  pic.  I  took  2  other  pics  just  before  this  one.  I  also  noticed  about  30  minutes  later  an  Air  Force  prop  plane  flew  over  the  house  at  a  low  altitude.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Minnesota  Boomerang

Farmington  Hills    —  I  was  leaving  the  bowling  alley  with  my  husband  on  June  2,  2018.  I  observed  an  extremely  large  “V”  shaped  UFO  traveling  southwest  at  an  alarming  rate  of  speed.  From  my  viewpoint  and  the  altitude  of  the  object,  I  estimate  it  to  be  50-100  times  larger  than  a  modern  sized  airplane.  The  object  had  seven  lights-three  on  each  line  of  the  “V”  and  one  light  where  the  lines  intersect.  The  lights  were  white  and  dim  and  in  sync.

The  object  was  moving  at  a  rapid  rate  of  speed  (I  only  observed  it  for  8-10  seconds  before  I  lost  sight  of  it).  The  object  was  completely  silent.  I  observed  the  underside  of  the  object  that  was  black  except  for  the  seven  lights.  I  observed  this  object  on  June  2,  2018  at  11:55  PM.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Missouri  Object

While  flying  in  American  Airlines  flight  3996  IAH  -Houston  to  ORD  -Chicago,  on  June  1,  2018  about  halfway  through  flight  (Missouri  ?)  was  photographing  storm  anvils  for  use  as  desktop  wallpaper.  Our  flight  was  at  about  38,000  feet.  Immediately  after  taking  3  pictures  in  about  10  seconds,  craft  appeared  suddenly  to  the  east  of  flight  path  at  about  50,000  feet  like  Star  Trek  “de-cloaking”  scene.  Immediately  took  another  photo  including  the  craft.  3  seconds  later  craft  went  ballistic  to  the  south  and  ascending  very  fast.  From  stationary  to  like  light  speed  disappearance  up  and  reverse  of  our  flight  path  which  would  be  south.  Craft  had  a  triangular  shape  to  it  and  must  have  been  very  large.

After  shooting  it  I  lowered  the  camera  phone  to  observe  and  it  suddenly  went  light  speed  ballistic  up  and  reverse  of  our  path.  I  was  a  small  craft  pilot  in  my  youth  and  worked  at  NASA  for  many  years  at  JSC  in  Houston  so  have  a  fairly  good  experience  base  with  things  that  fly.

New  York  Lights

Large  light  flies  to  left  and  reverses  course  increasing  then  decreasing  brightness  of  light.

Woodland  —  Tic-tac,  glowing  orb,  black  hole,  (wormhole.)  something  coming  out  of  wormhole,  orb  materializing  off  to  the  left  of  junipers  on  April  2,  2018  and  then  moving  past  the  trees.  Some  jets  were  flying  so  fast  that  I  grabbed  my  phone  and  started  taking  pictures.  I  personally  didn’t  see  anything  but  the  military  planes  until  I  looked  at  the  photos  and  blew  them  up.  These  pics  are  not  doctored  in  any  way.  You  are  most  welcomed  to  verify.  my  Facebook  page  Tom  Julian  photos  are  @  bottom  of  page.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Australia  Object

All  I  have  to  do  is  go  outside  and  start  snapping  pictures  on  February  26,  2018.  I’ve  had  other  things  happen  to  me  that  are  unexplainable  as  well.  Being  able  to  get  footage  is  the  best  I  could  do.
I’m  upgrading  from  a  ph  camera  to  Cannon  mk  4  with  plenty  of  extras..  That  way  I  can  get  some  epic  footage.

Canada  Lights

While  filming  the  same  object  again  that  I  had  reported  (case  #92331),  a  light  caught  my  eye  so  I  started  filming  it.  It  changed  shape  multiple  times  and  upon  review  of  video  at  the  5:56  mark,  I  noticed  it  had  changed  direction  and  seemed  to  be  heading  back  toward  me.  At  one  point  during  this  sighting,  I  felt  a  buzzing  and  weightlessness  for  about  10  seconds.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

Japan  UFO  Teenager

A  teenager  in  Japan  has  become  something  of  a  sensation  on  the  country’s  social  media  sites  due  to  his  purported  ability  to  communicate  with  UFOs.  Haruya  Ido  has  been  dubbed  ‘UFO  Boy’  by  the  researcher,  Toshitaro  Yamaguchi,  who  discovered  the  young  man  and  his  alleged  psychic  skills.  To  that  end,  Yamaguchi  told  Japanese  media  that  Ido  can  sense,  via  telepathy,  where  a  UFO  will  be  and,  in  turn,  photograph  the  object.

Backing  up  the  UFO  researcher’s  bold  assertion  are  four  images  of  anomalous  objects  which  were  taken  by  Ido  from  different  locations  in  Japan  over  the  course  of  the  last  year.  While  the  oddities  in  the  photos  are  not  particularly  spectacular,  if  they  were  truly  all  captured  by  the  same  witness,  it  does  make  one  wonder  if  there  is  a  connection  between  the  boy  and  the  phenomenon.  For  his  part,  Yamachuchi  likened  Ido’s  ability  to  “shamanism”  and  the  teen’s  story  have  gone  viral  on  Japanese  social  media.

Remarkably,  the  veteran  UFO  researcher  said  that  such  ‘UFO  boys’  are  not  altogether  rare  phenomenon  as,  in  the  past,  other  youngsters  have  been  said  to  boast  the  same  ability  to  communicate  with  craft.  However,  Ido  is  the  first  to  appear  on  the  scene  in  quite  some  time,  which  Yamaguchi  hopes  is  a  promising  sign  for  the  future,  since,  at  70  years  old,  he’s  uncertain  how  much  longer  he  can  chase  the  phenomenon.  Perhaps  the  teen  can  alleviate  those  concerns  by  conjuring  a  craft  in  the  sky  for  him.

Netherlands  Triangle

Nieuwerkerk  aan  den  IJssel  –  I  noticed  a  bright  white  flash  in  the  sky  near  the  star  Arcturus.  I  don’t  know  if  this  event  is  related  to  my  sighting,  but  when  I  looked  in  the  direction  of  the  star  to  see  if  another  flash  would  appear  I  suddenly  noticed  a  very  big  triangular  shaped  flying  object  traveling  at  high  speed  across  the  sky.  It  looked  to  be  flying  quite  low,    at  the  height  of  a  small  passenger  plane.  The  triangle  was  black  with  orange-red  lights  at  each  corner  at  the  bottom.  The  lights  were  not  very  bright  and  the  shape  of  the  object  was  faintly  visible.  the  object  did  block  the  light  of  the  stars  above  the  triangle  that  was  traveling  south  at  00:30  pm  on  May  21,  2018.  after  seeing  it  for  a  few  seconds  it  disappeared  from  sight  behind  some  houses.  There  really  are  unidentified  flying  objects  in  the  sky.”  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS

UK/England  Object

Leamington  Spa,  Warwicksh  —  I  was  in  the  sunshine  next  to  my  touring  caravan  at  Harbury  Fields  Caravan  Park,  on  June  2,    2018.  I  was  observing  and  photographing  local  aircraft  passing  overhead.  I  noticed  what  looked  like  a  bright  star  in  a  northerly  direction,  in  a  clear  blue  sky.  Pointed  my  Nikon  D7200  with  a  150-600mm  lens  at  the  object  and  saw  more  than  one  bright  light,  plus  a  shape.  Took  several  Photo’s  over  the  next  15  minutes  and  then  the  object  was  gone.  The  object  appeared  to  be  rotating  but  not  moving  in  any  direction  with  no  trail  so  I  discounted  it  to  be  a  meteor  or  space  debris.  The  object  did  look  to  get  brighter,  with  the  naked  eye  and  then  dimmer  before  it  disappeared.  I  had  never  seen  anything  like  it  before  so  checked  the  internet  for  space  debris.  NASA  said  space  debris  was  not  expected  that  day.  During  my  observation,  the  object  did  appear  to  change  shape.  Thanks  to  MUFON  CMS
