Are we alone? Unfortunately, neither of the answers feel satisfactory. 

To be alone in this vast universe is a lonely prospect. 

On the other hand, if we are not alone and there is someone or something more powerful out there, that too is terrifying.

As a NASA research scientist and now a professor of physics, I attended the 2002 NASA Contact Conference, which focused on serious speculation about extraterrestrials. 

During the meeting a concerned participant said loudly in a sinister tone, 'You have absolutely no idea what is out there!' 

The silence was palpable as the truth of this statement sunk in.

Humans are fearful of extraterrestrials visiting Earth. Perhaps fortunately, the distances between the stars are prohibitively vast. 

At least this is what we novices, who are just learning to travel into space, tell ourselves.

I have always been interested in UFOs. Of course, there was the excitement that there could be aliens and other living worlds. 

But more exciting to me was the possibility that interstellar travel was technologically achievable. 

In 1988, during my second week of graduate school at Montana State University, several students and I were discussing a recent cattle mutilation that was associated with UFOs. 

A physics professor joined the conversation and told us that he had colleagues working at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, where they were having problems with UFOs shutting down nuclear missiles. 

At the time I thought this professor was talking nonsense. But 20 years later, I was stunned to see a recording of a press conference featuring several former US Air Force personnel, with a couple from Malmstrom AFB, describing similar occurrences in the 1960s. Clearly there must be something to this.

With July 2 being World UFO Day, it is a good time for society to address the unsettling and refreshing fact we may not be alone. 

I believe we need to face the possibility that some of the strange flying objects that outperform the best aircraft in our inventory and defy explanation may indeed be visitors from afar – and there's plenty of evidence to support UFO sightings.

The nuclear physicist Enrico Fermi was famous for posing thought provoking questions. 

In 1950, at Los Alamos National Laboratory after discussing UFOs over lunch, Fermi asked, 'Where is everybody?' 

He estimated there were about 300 billion stars in the galaxy, many of them billions of years older than the sun, with a large percentage of them likely to host habitable planets. 

While the general public has been fascinated with UFOs for decades, our governments, scientists and media, have essentially declared that of all the UFO sightings are a result of weather phenomenon or human actions, Knuth claims.

Even if intelligent life developed on a very small percentage of these planets, then there should be a number of intelligent civilizations in the galaxy. 

Depending on the assumptions, one should expect anywhere from tens to tens of thousands of civilizations.

With the rocket-based technologies that we have developed for space travel, it would take between 5 and 50 million years for a civilization like ours to colonize our Milky Way galaxy. 

Since this should have happened several times already in the history of our galaxy, one should wonder where is the evidence of these civilizations? 

This discrepancy between the expectation that there should be evidence of alien civilizations or visitations and the presumption that no visitations have been observed has been dubbed the Fermi Paradox.

Carl Sagan correctly summarized the situation by saying that 'extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.' 

The problem is that there has been no single well-documented UFO encounter that would alone qualify as the smoking gun. 

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that many governments around the world have covered up and classified information about such encounters.

But there are enough scraps of evidence that suggest that the problem needs to be open to scientific study.

When it comes to science, the scientific method requires hypotheses to be testable so that inferences can be verified. 

UFO encounters are neither controllable nor repeatable, which makes their study extremely challenging. But the real problem, in my view, is that the UFO topic is taboo.

While the general public has been fascinated with UFOs for decades, our governments, scientists and media, have essentially declared that of all the UFO sightings are a result of weather phenomenon or human actions. 

And no aliens have visited Earth.

Essentially, we are told that the topic is nonsense. 

UFOs are off-limits to serious scientific study and rational discussion, which unfortunately leaves the topic in the domain of fringe and pseudoscientists, many of whom litter the field with conspiracy theories and wild speculation.

I think UFO skepticism has become something of a religion with an agenda, discounting the possibility of extraterrestrials without scientific evidence, while often providing silly hypotheses describing only one or two aspects of a UFO encounter reinforcing the popular belief that there is a conspiracy. 

A scientist must consider all of the possible hypotheses that explain all of the data, and since little is known, the extraterrestrial hypothesis cannot yet be ruled out. 

In the end, the skeptics often do science a disservice by providing a poor example of how science is to be conducted. The fact is that many of these encounters – still a very small percentage of the total – defy conventional explanation.

The media amplifies the skepticism by publishing information about UFOs when it is exciting, but always with a mocking or whimsical tone and reassuring the public that it can't possibly be true. 

But there are credible witnesses and encounters.

I am often asked by friends and colleagues, 'Why don't astronomers see UFOs?' The fact is that they do. 

In 1977, Peter Sturrock, a professor of space science and astrophysics at Stanford University, mailed 2,611 questionnaires about UFO sightings to members of the American Astronomical Society. 

He received 1,356 responses from which 62 astronomers – 4.6 percent – reported witnessing or recording inexplicable aerial phenomena. This rate is similar to the approximately 5 percent of UFO sightings that are never explained.

As expected, Sturrock found that astronomers who witnessed UFOs were more likely to be night sky observers. Over 80 percent of Sturrock's respondents were willing to study the UFO phenomenon if there was a way to do so. 

More than half of them felt that the topic deserves to be studied versus 20 percent who felt that it should not. The survey also revealed that younger scientists were more likely to support the study of UFOs.

UFOs have been observed through telescopes. I know of one telescope sighting by an experienced amateur astronomer in which he observed an object shaped like a guitar pick moving through the telescope's field of view. 

Further sightings are documented in the book 'Wonders in the Sky,' in which the authors compile numerous observations of unexplained aerial phenomena made by astronomers and published in scientific journals throughout the 1700s and 1800s.

Some of the most convincing observations have come from government officials. In 1997, the Chilean government formed the organization Comité de Estudios de Fenómenos Aéreos Anómalos, or CEFAA, to study UFOs. 

Last year, CEFAA released footage of a UFO taken with a helicopter-mounted Wescam infrared camera.

The countries of Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden and the United Kingdom have been declassifying their UFO files since 2008. 

The French Committee for In-Depth Studies, or COMETA, was an unofficial UFO study group comprised of high-ranking scientists and military officials that studied UFOs in the late 1990s. 

They released the COMETA Report, which summarized their findings. They concluded that 5 percent of the encounters were reliable yet inexplicable: The best hypothesis available was that the observed craft were extraterrestrial. They also accused the United States of covering up evidence of UFOs. 

Iran has been concerned about spherical UFOs observed near nuclear power facilities that they call 'CIA drones' which reportedly are about 30 feet in diameter, can achieve speeds up to Mach 10, and can leave the atmosphere. 

Such speeds are on par with the fastest experimental aircraft, but unthinkable for a sphere without lift surfaces or an obvious propulsion mechanism.

In December 2017, The New York Times broke a story about the classified Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, which was a $22 million program run by the former Pentagon official Luis Elizondo and aimed at studying UFOs. 

Elizondo resigned from running the program protesting extreme secrecy and the lack of funding and support. 

Following his resignation Elizondo, along with several others from the defense and intelligence community, were recruited by the To the Stars Academy of Arts & Science, which was recently founded by Tom DeLonge to study UFOs and interstellar travel. 

In conjunction with the launch of the academy, the Pentagon declassified and released three videos of UFO encounters taken with forward looking infrared cameras mounted on F-18 fighter jets.

While there is much excitement about such disclosures, I am reminded of a quote from Retired Army Colonel John Alexander: 'Disclosure has happened. … I've got stacks of generals, including Soviet generals, who've come out and said UFOs are real. My point is, how many times do senior officials need to come forward and say that this is real?'

There is a great deal of evidence that a small percentage of these UFO sightings are unidentified structured craft exhibiting flight capabilities beyond any known human technology. 

While there is no single case for which there exists evidence that would stand up to scientific rigor, there are cases with simultaneous observations by multiple reliable witnesses, along with radar returns and photographic evidence revealing patterns of activity that are compelling.

Declassified information from covert studies is interesting, but not scientifically helpful. 

This is a topic worthy of open scientific inquiry, until there is a scientific consensus based on evidence rather than prior expectation or belief. 

If there are indeed extraterrestrial craft visiting Earth, it would greatly benefit us to know about them, their nature and their intent. 

Moreover, this would present a great opportunity for mankind, promising to expand and advance our knowledge and technology, as well as reshaping our understanding of our place in the universe.

OUMUAMUA VERSNELT PLOTSELING EN VERANDERT VAN KOERS

Het object moet er ongeveer als volgt uit zien. Een ander fenomeen is dat het om haar eigen as lijkt te draaien en dat de lichtintensiteit varieert. 

Men probeert wanhopig om voor dit alles logische verklaringen te vinden, maar slaagt daar niet zo erg in. 

Men vermoedt dat het uit de buurt komt van de ster Vega, maar ook dat schijnt niet te kunnen omdat in de tijd dat Oumuamua daar is vertrokken, die ster op een heel andere plek stond. Nu denken ze dat het object misschien wel helemaal nergens thuishoort en als een soort los projectiel door de ruimte zwerft. 

De wetenschap zit (ook) wat dit object betreft met de handen in het haar, want niet één van de normale verklaringen past.

Waar we hier over praten, is een groot moederschip dat ons hier met een bezoek heeft vereerd. Dat is de enige logische verklaring en ook is er ook één die past in de omschrijving van het object en de gedragingen. 

Nu komen er via NASA berichten dat een team van wetenschappers met behulp van gegevens van de Hubble ruimtetelescoop en andere bronnen heeft vastgesteld dat Oumuamua opeens accelereert en van koers is veranderd. 

Marco Micheli van de Europese Ruimtevaartorganisatie heeft bevestigd dat de bewegingen van het object aantonen dat er onder invloed van iets anders dan de zwaartekracht van de zon en andere planeten in ons zonnestelsel iets met Oumuamua is gebeurd. 

Dan Davide Farnocchia van het NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) die volhoudt dat het object zich gedraagt als een normale komeet en dat de versnelling en koersverandering misschien wel te maken hebben met de uitstoot van gas vanaf het oppervlak van de komeet. 

Echter, volgens Olivier Haunaut van het European Southern Observatory zijn er geen waarneembare tekenen van het uitstoten van gas. 

Maar, omdat de wetenschappelijke gelederen gesloten dienen te blijven, komt er een soort gezamenlijke verklaring van wetenschappers waarbij ze dan concluderen dat Oumuamua een hele kleine hoeveelheid stofdeeltjes heeft uitgestoten die verantwoordelijk zouden zijn geweest voor de koersverandering. De uitstoot van die stofdeeltjes zou zo subtiel geweest zijn de wetenschappers niet in staat zijn geweest om dit op te pikken. 

De Volkskrant sust op de volgende manier haar lezers in slaap: 

De verklaring: het hemellichaam bevat wél vluchtig materiaal, en via barsten en spleten in het oppervlak stromen gassen en dampen de ruimte in. Zo’n klein raket-effect beïnvloedt de beweging – denk maar aan een losgelaten feestballonnetje, dat ook alle kanten op kronkelt. 

Het effect was heel klein, aldus een internationaal team van onderzoekers deze week in Nature, maar elke andere mogelijke verklaring wordt vakkundig naar de prullenbak verwezen. Conclusie: de kosmische binnendringer verloor een paar kilogram gas per seconde, vermoedelijk waterdamp en koolmonoxide. Dat is niet veel, maar volgens het astronomische hokjesdenken ben je dan toch een komeet. 

Héhé, dat was even zweten, maar gelukkig is er nu een wetenschappelijke verklaring die de stofdeeltjes de schuld geeft, zodat we vooral niet hoeven zeggen dat het gewoon een groot buitenaards, intelligent bestuurd ruimteschip is.

A mysterious "sonar anomaly" had NOAA explorers diving off the coast of North Carolina on Wednesday, hoping for an explanation.

NOAA has not been afraid to notch up suspense about the area, noting it could be "an archaeology site, a geological formation or otherwise."

It's anybody's guess what "otherwise" means, but UFO enthusiasts might be tingling with ideas.

The site is being called the “Big Dipper Anomaly" by the crew aboard NOAA's Okeanos Explorer, which launched a remotely operated vehicle in the area at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Experts believed the anomaly might be a shipwreck, but were leaning toward "a geological formation with biological communities and other debris" later in the day, according to TV station WTKR in Virginia.

But an official accounting of their findings has not been released yet and since the location of the anomaly is being kept confidential it becomes clear that NOAA has found something very strange and unusual off the coast of North Carolina. We will keep an eye on this strange event.

Three-Fingered Mummified Aliens Found In Peru, UFO Researcher Claims

A UFO researcher has claimed he has unearthed alien remains in Nazca, Peru in 2015. Some UFO fans quickly labelled it as evidence of ancient aliens. They argued that the strange creatures may have inhabited the Earth long before the people.

According to UFO researcher Steve Mera, DNA tests show one body to be 98.5 per cent primate, related to humans, and 1.5 per cent unknown.

Steve said they have proof that the Maria body constitutes a fantastic find. He stressed that it may alter history books forever and would go down as the most significant find of the 21st Century.

However, the World Congress on Mummy Studies has described the discovery as a fraud and called it an irresponsible organized campaign of disinformation.

Hoax debunkers offered a detailed analysis, including the fact that Gaia.com, the one spreading the information about the mummy discovery, has been alleged of promoting the idea of ancient aliens of which no actual evidence was presented.

UFO author Nigel Watson said that mummy discoveries such as this one are very probably fakes. He explained that humanoid aliens with three long fingers could not survive as they would be clumsy and incapable of making a cup of tea let alone flying a spaceship.

Nigel also pointed out the fact that the news was fed to the people via a website that you need to subscribe. He said that it could be fake news designed to indulge the fascination of people with ancient aliens and UFOs.

Best evidence yet for alien life on Saturn's moon found by scientists

Enceladus is only body besides Earth known to 'simultaneously satisfy all of the basic requirements for life as we know it', say scientists

Large organic molecules blasted into space from deep-sea vents on one of Saturn's moons, show that it contains "all of the basic requirements for life as we know it”.

Plumes of material from cracks in Enceladus' icy surface were sampled by Nasa spacecraft Cassini, shortly before it plunged to itsdeath in Saturn’s atmosphere.

A study of this data by an international team of researchers has found evidence of carbon-rich substances formed in the heart of the moon.  

The scientists said they were “blown away” by the discovery.

“Complex organic molecules do not necessarily provide a habitable environment, but on the other hand they are a necessary precursor for life,” Dr Frank Postberg from the University of Heidelberg, who led the research, told The Independent.

“Previously it was unknown whether complex organic chemistry happens on Enceladus – and now we know.”

Dr Christopher Glein, a space scientist specialising in extraterrestrial chemical oceanography, said the new findings mean the distant moon is the only body besides Earth known to “simultaneously satisfy all of the basic requirements for life as we know it”.

He added: “We are, yet again, blown away by Enceladus. Previously we’d only identified the simplest organic molecules containing a few carbon atoms, but even that was very intriguing.”

The new discovery is the culmination of years of data gleaned by Cassini as it flew close by Saturn’s moons, collecting information as it went.

Initial surveys found evidence of an enormous ocean of water residing underneath the moon’s icy crust.

Subsequent flybys yielded signs of smaller organic compounds like methane gas, as well as hydrogen that indicated deep-sea hydrothermal vents.

“Hydrogen provides a source of chemical energy supporting microbes that live in the Earth’s oceans near hydrothermal vents,” said Dr Hunter Waite, who co-authored the study at Southwest Research Institute.

“Once you have identified a potential food source for microbes, the next question to ask is ‘what is the nature of the complex organics in the ocean?’ This paper represents the first step in that understanding – complexity in the organic chemistry beyond our expectations.”

The findings were published in the journal Nature.

The news comes shortly after Nasa’s announcement that “ingredients for life” had been found on Mars, a discovery welcomed by scientists as some of the best evidence yet for aliens.

Data collected on the red planet was far more detailed than Cassini’s Enceladus findings, but the discoveries made in the past 12 to 15 months have singled out the distant moon as one of the most likely places to support life in our solar system.

Dr Postberg said the case for alien life on Enceladus is mounting, but as it stands there are no follow up Cassini missions planned.

However, the technology to test for such life exists, and he predicts a decision will be made in the next five years about future alien-hunting missions to this elusive “water world”.

“It is of course one of the biggest science questions there are – extraterrestrial life: yes or no – and here is a spot where we can check,” said Dr Postberg. “We have a habitable environment there and we have the means to probe it to find whether there is actual life or not.”

New Mexico geologist discusses suspected UFO crash site findings

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) - The Bureau of Land Management is taking an interest in a New Mexico geologist's discoveries that he claims are out of this world. He believes he has found parts of the alleged UFO crash near Roswell in 1947.

"Some of it could be trash, camper trash, but some of it could be interesting,” said Geologist Frank Kimbler.

Kimbler distinctly remembers the moment he discovered debris from the suspected 1947 UFO crash site.

"I started looking around all over the place, looking to see if the helicopters were going to fly over, because you get paranoid when you read the stories of about Roswell and what's happened to people when they've come forward with stuff,” he said.

Over the past eight years, Kimbler has dedicated himself to finding physical proof of the UFO, going out to the suspected site 75 miles northwest of Roswell about a dozen times.

Using a metal detector, he's collected about 20 metallic fragments the size of a fingernail.

"Some of the material that I found out there has been tested and it has anomalies that suggest that it might be of extraterrestrial origin,” said Kimbler.

Recently, Kimbler became afraid his research was in jeopardy when the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) contacted him, wanting to meet. 

Kimbler said he was positive he was just a test away from discovering the truth.

When the BLM called, he became a little paranoid and even removed his findings from the International UFO Museum in Roswell.

"I said sure, about had a heart attack. I'm going, ‘Oh, they're going to arrest me, they're going to confiscate this material,’” said Kimbler. “I always thought that I was within my legal rights as a citizen of the U.S. to go out and metal detect."

Much to his relief, that wasn't the case.

"It had a happy ending. I got clarification on the rules and regulations from the BLM and there was no confiscation of materials,” Kimbler said.

He believes the recent commercial interest in the site played a role in how the BLM got alerted to his presence and findings there.

Kimbler, a researcher with the International UFO Museum who has been featured in several documentaries, says he will continue to try and find suspected debris but will work with the BLM to do it the right way.

Men in Black is the new book from Conrad Bauer. Its subtitle: Evidence and True Stories About Earth’s Most Mysterious Cover Agents. Certainly, it’s not the longest book ever written on the phenomenon (it’s pretty slim), and it’s not a deeply extensive study of the mystery. But, where the book really scores, is the way in which Bauer approaches his story. What Bauer has done is to write a book on the Men in Black for those who are, perhaps, largely new to the phenomenon – and who want a basic, quick rundown on the puzzle and without having to dig through the 10 or so MIB-themed books that are currently available. And, it helps that Bauer has a good, atmospheric style of writing, one which makes his book a cool page-turner.

Bauer begins with a summary of the extremely controversial saga of the Maury Island incident of the summer of 1947; an incident involving an exploded UFO. Or, which was nothing  but a crazy hoax, one that tragically led to the deaths of two military personnel. True or not, the Maury Island affair became notable for its link to a sinister character in black who warned one of the key witnesses, Harold Dahl, to keep his mouth shut. Or else.

There is a great deal of information in Men in Black on Albert Bender, the one guy who, in almost single-handed fashion, “created” the MIB mystery. Or, who at least brought it to the attention of the UFO research community and – eventually – to the military, the FBI and the public, in a roundabout way. So many researchers have claimed that the trio of MIB who visited Bender’s home in 1953 were from the government. They certainly were not.

Bauer, in his section on Bender, skillfully demonstrates that Bender’s MIB were not agents from the U.S. Government. They were ghoulish, menacing things that didn’t even look completely human. On top of that, Bauer points out how the MIB that Bender crossed paths with had far more links to the occult and the supernatural than they did the likes of the CIA, the Air Force, etc. Bauer, in a persuasive fashion, make it clear that whoever – or whatever – that trio of terrors in black that plagued Bender really were, they were clearly something paranormal and dangerous.

As Bauer notes, Bender’s story was filled to the brim with paranormal activity, dangerous beings from other planes of existence, and things that sounded like they had just stepped out of the pages of a Victorian era Penny Dreadful. Shadowy figures in black follow him to his home late at night. Strange balls of light appear in his attic bedroom – which becomes overwhelmed by a powerful odor of sulfur, no less.

Bauer then moves onto the matter of Gray Barker’s 1956 book on the Bender affair. Its title: They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers. Barker’s book is a controversial one. It is filled with rumors fleshed out as facts, and Barker’s imagination going into overdrive. Add to that a few outright hoaxes undertaken by Barker, and what you get is hardy non-fiction: They Knew Too Much…

Strange characters impersonating employees of NORAD crop up, as do a couple of genuinely weird sagas of MIB from the U.K., in the early 1970s. I liked these sections particularly, as Bauer makes it clear just how inhuman these things really are. Of course, it wouldn’t be a book on the Men in Black without a good look back at the MIB presence in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, where the Mothman lurked from late 1966 to December 1967. The dark atmosphere that enveloped the area is well-handled, making it abundantly clear that they were truly strange times – and that Point Pleasant was even home to pale-faced Women in Black, as well as the equally creepy MIB. And with the specter of the Mothman hanging over the good people of Point Pleasant.

In the next couple of chapters, Bauer makes an even greater argument to the effect that the Men in Black are not human. Inhuman would be far better. Bauer ends his book with a look at the possible origins of the Men in Black – and their  strange, and almost theatrical, activities, which are particularly in evidence when they are terrorizing witnesses to UFOs.

In conclusion, Conrad Bauer’s book, Men in Black, is the perfect one for people who don’t know too much about the MIB subject – but who would like to – and who don’t want to have to wade through 300 pages or more to get the answers and to learn about the classic cases. In a well-structured, and well-written, fashion Bauer gives the reader the key moments in MIB history, the theories for what they are, their possible motivations and much more. And it’s all presented in a very creepy, bizarre and surreal fashion – which is highly appropriate for a book on the Men in Black!

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s an asteroid! It’s a weird spaceship from another galaxy! It’s a comet! It’s … Oumuamua! The interstellar visitor didn’t stay long but it has captivated the hearts and minds and computer models of astronomers and space scientists worldwide who want to know what it is. Researchers watching the trailing end of the cigar-shaped visitor as it left the solar system noticed that it was accelerating. While it could have just been trying to get away from the all of the chaos it saw on Earth, the real reason seemed to be that gas coming off of the back end was pushing it to a slightly higher speed … a trait that is commonly seen on … sorry, it’s too late to place your bets … comets!

“After ruling out solar-radiation pressure, drag- and friction-like forces, interaction with solar wind for a highly magnetized object, and geometric effects originating from ‘Oumuamua potentially being composed of several spatially separated bodies or having a pronounced offset between its photocentre and centre of mass, we find comet-like outgassing to be a physically viable explanation, provided that ‘Oumuamua has thermal properties similar to comets.”

A team led by Marco Micheli, a European Space Agency astronomer, released their study this week in the journal Nature. The acceleration of Oumuamua was actually expected since it would be affected by the gravitational pulls of the Moon and outer planets, but the speed at which it was moving could not be attributed to gravity alone.

“It’s an unusual comet, and that’s pretty exciting.”

Karen Meech, an astronomer at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and a team member, explained to Hawaii’s KHON that the unusual lack of dust and ice on Oumuamua meant it didn’t have a tail and that initially led observers to think it was a rocky asteroid rather than an icy comet. In addition, Meech says astronomers were looking for evidence of cyanide, which gives comets a blue hue. They didn’t see it, which means that Oumuamua is still a comet but one with a different chemical composition that those passing thought the solar system before.

If you’re looking for a career exploring the stars and you’re too tall or too scared to be an astronaut, Meech recommends astronomy as the job of the future.

“This is the first time we’ve ever seen anything like this. Astronomers have been predicting this for decades, so it was very exciting to see the first one come through. I think the Pan-STARRS in particular is going to start to see a lot more of these with the second telescope now starting its survey, so it’s an exciting time to be an astronomer.”

Exciting, yes … unless you’re the astronomer who spots the deadly asteroid or comet heading straight for Earth.

Oumuamua - New Facts and Discoveries About First Interstellar Visitor

Nathan Myhrvold thinks NASA is up to something. The “modernist cookbook“ author, physics PhD, and former Microsoft executive has just published a peer-reviewed paperrefuting NASA’s data concerning NASA’s analysis of near Earth objects, the potentially deadly asteroids and meteoroids and other objects whizzing about in the area of space just outside of our orbit. According to Myrhvold’s calculations, NASA’s data “suffer from systematic errors and inconsistencies.” Does this mean we’re in a lot more danger than NASA is letting on?

The last thing most of us will ever see: our phones.

Let’s hope not, especially given how utterly unprepared we still are for the event of even a minor asteroid impact. In a blog post, Myhrvold doesn’t specifically state that NASA is intentionally under-reporting the amount of near Earth objects tracked by their NEOWISE project (short for Near Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer), but does accuse NASA scientists of “scientific misconduct” and “further misconduct, apparently to cover up the issues” he previously pointed out in their data:

The issues I am calling misconduct in the NEOWISE papers were not inadvertent. They appear to have been deliberate choices made repeatedly by the NEOWISE team over a long period of time. These actions have caused the astronomical community to work under the false belief that the NEOWISE results are more accurate (have smaller errors) than the evidence warrants.

Myhrvold goes on to accuse scientists working on the NEOWISE project of reacting “extremely deceptively,” claiming that NEOWISE scientists ignored his attempts to point out the inaccuracies in private and that “the very NASA managers who should have been supervising the project were more interested in protecting it from scrutiny.”

NASA wouldn’t lie to us, would they?

The reason the NEOWISE data are so important is because hundreds of scientists and even space agencies around the world have used the data for their own separate studies and missions. With so much riding on our ability to understand the NEO activity above our heads, it’s imperative that scientists have the most accurate data available in order to someday be able to protect us from a potentially cataclysmic impact.

For their part, NEOWISE has yet to comment on Myhrvold’s critique of their data. “The NEOWISE team stands by its data and scientific findings that have been published in several peer-reviewed journal articles,” a NASA spokesperson said in a statement. “NASA is confident the processes and analyses performed by the NEOWISE team are valid, as verified by independent researchers.” Meanwhile, UCLA’s Edward L. Wright, head of the NEOWISE project, called Myhrvold’s publication “a waste of paper.”

Is this merely a case of scientists splitting methodological hairs, or might there be some sort of attempt to hide the truth about NEOs? Furthermore, do we really want to know the truth? Personally, I like sleeping at night. Some threats are better left in the dark.

Geologist Frank Kimbler has spent the last eight years making periodic trips out to the location armed with a metal detector in the hopes of picking up something left behind after the infamous 1947 event.

And, as a result of these excursions, he claims to have recovered nearly 20 small metal fragments.

"Some of the material that I found out there has been tested and it has anomalies that suggest that it might be of extraterrestrial origin,” said Kimbler.

Believing that his research is getting very close to a proverbial smoking gun, Kimbler became incredibly worried last week when the Bureau of Land Management called and asked to meet with him.

Kimbler thought that they were going to confiscate the pieces of UFO metal and his concern was so serious that he went so far as to pull all of his discoveries from Roswell's International UFO Museum where they had been on display.

Fortunately, it turned out that his fears were unfounded as the meeting largely consisted of Kimbrel being reminded of the BLM's rules regarding the collection of materials and his own discoveries remained safely in his possession.

I Contacted JAXA space Admin But Israeli Diplomat Responded, June 2018, UFO Sighting News.

Hey everyone. The JAXA (Japan space agency) probe reached the asteroid Ryugu and has only released one close up photo of it, even though the spacecraft has been there for over 48 hours. I have reached out to five official JAXA accounts on Twitter as you see from the screenshots, but as of yet, I have received no replies from the Japanese. However I have received a reply from a Isrealie diplomate @ElanRatson who is stationed in the UK embassy. He said that onboard the probe is a smaller probe made by Isreal and its CPU brain made by Isreal which is responsible for taking and retrieving samples of the asteroid back to earth. 

Below you see proof that I attempted to contact JAXA in order to get more photos of the asteroid released to the public. I will continue my effort to contact them, and hopefully we will see some amazing photos that we can explore and search for alien structures and evidence in.

A Brazilian news channel released this TV news video of a eyewitness who noticed an oval shape in the overcast sky and started filming it. As he recorded, the UFO can be seen fluxing like the colors of a squid and then the UFO vanishes on camera. 

At one point, the UFO opens at its bottom as if it were bringing something or someone in or out of the ship. 

The UFO disappeared because it was observing and reading peoples thoughts below on the ground. Most UFOs have a detection system that will automatically (AI controlled) make the UFO vanish when its been detected, but for some reason this one allowed it to be filmed for about 20 seconds before it vanished. It appears the UFO was as intrigued with the eyewitness as the eyewitness was with the alien ship.

Deep Astronomy has released a video which is said to contain some of the most important images to have ever been captured by the Hubble Telescope.

These extraordinary images of Deep Space were not achieved without a fair share of struggle. Back in 1996, the scientists working with the Hubble Telescope had to fight to point the powerful equipment into an inky field which was believed at the time to be lacking both stars and planets.

This was seen as high risk at the time as images from the Hubble Telescope are in constant demand and it was expected that the inky field that the scientists were so interested in would produce nothing of value to show for such hard work and expensive running time.

However, the risky decision by the astronomers paid off significantly. The photons eventually began to register and, all of a sudden, the scientists were in possession of images of light flooding from more than three thousand different galaxies lying in the deep space.

Some years later, the scientists working on the broad field project have discovered that this innocuous space of dark sky is a peephole to an extraordinary number of other galaxies. According to the experts, this solar system is only a tiny part of a vast network of planets and stars comprising around 100 billion different galaxies.

The discovery of these galaxies is extraordinarily significant when it comes to studying space. The images captured by the Hubble not only show galaxies very similar to our own, which may suggest that there could be life reasonably close to this planet, but also galaxies in various stages of their history. Some of the galaxies are very new which could give scientists some insight into the initial stages of the creation of new worlds. On the opposite ends of the spectrum, some of the galaxies are nearing the end of their lives, some of which have collapsed altogether and some which are currently in the process of doing so. Exploring these newly discovered galaxies could give scientists invaluable information into the dawning days of our galaxy and the future that lies ahead for it.

A bright meteor was seen in near daylight on June 21, 2018, over several Russian cities, including Lipetsk, which is located southeast of Moscow. There are also reports now of the meteor having been seen from Moscow itself. And now the first meteorite fragments are reportedly being found. The first to be found is about 1.18 inches (3 cm) across. Scientists from the Ural Federal University reported finding it near the town of Yelets. Search operations are still underway, as other fragments may be found in the area.

The small space rock found this week is a stony meteorite, whose properties will be studied in detail in a laboratory.

The fast fireball seen on June 21 produced an amazing smoke trail that remained visible during several minutes. NASA’s fireball records indicate the event occurred on June 21 at 01:16:20 UTC. Sensors detected that the space rock produced an explosion equivalent to 2.8 kilotons. That explosion size corresponds to the disintegration of a small asteroid of about 13 feet (4 meters) in diameter. That size is in contrast to the estimated 65-foot (20-meter) asteroid that exploded in the air over Chelyabinsk, Russia, in February 2013.

Infrasound sensor detectors registered the low frequencies produced by the explosion of the space rock as it entered Earth’s atmosphere. And some people caught the meteor on dashboard cameras, as in the video at the top of this page by Alexander Dundin.

Although intense friction with the air caused most of the space rock to disintegrate, small fragments have reached Earth’s surface.

Why so many meteor events over Russia? Russia is the largest country in the world, thus its large territorial extension makes it the target with most probability for a space rock to hit, after the seas. About 70 percent of our planet’s surface is covered by water, which means that most meteorites do fall into the sea.

Science centers and museums around the world will celebrate Asteroid Day on June 30, an event to create awareness and educate our communities about asteroids.

Geologist Discusses Suspected Roswell UFO Crash Site Findings

New Mexico geologist discusses suspected UFO crash site findings

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bureau of Land Management is taking an interest in a New Mexico geologist’s discoveries that he claims are out of this world. He believes he has found parts of the alleged UFO crash near Roswell in 1947.

“Some of it could be trash, camper trash, but some of it could be interesting,” said Geologist Frank Kimbler.

Kimbler distinctly remembers the moment he discovered debris from the suspected 1947 UFO crash site.

“I started looking around all over the place, looking to see if the helicopters were going to fly over, because you get paranoid when you read the stories of about Roswell and what’s happened to people when they’ve come forward with stuff,” he said.

Over the past eight years, Kimbler has dedicated himself to finding physical proof of the UFO, going out to the suspected site 75 miles northwest of Roswell about a dozen times.

Using a metal detector, he’s collected about 20 metallic fragments the size of a fingernail.

“Some of the material that I found out there has been tested and it has anomalies that suggest that it might be of extraterrestrial origin,” said Kimbler.

Recently, Kimbler became afraid his research was in jeopardy when the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) contacted him, wanting to meet. 

Kimbler said he was positive he was just a test away from discovering the truth.

When the BLM called, he became a little paranoid and even removed his findings from the International UFO Museum in Roswell.

“I said sure, about had a heart attack. I’m going, ‘Oh, they’re going to arrest me, they’re going to confiscate this material,’” said Kimbler. “I always thought that I was within my legal rights as a citizen of the U.S. to go out and metal detect.”

Much to his relief, that wasn’t the case.

“It had a happy ending. I got clarification on the rules and regulations from the BLM and there was no confiscation of materials,” Kimbler said.

He believes the recent commercial interest in the site played a role in how the BLM got alerted to his presence and findings there.

Kimbler, a researcher with the International UFO Museum who has been featured in several documentaries, says he will continue to try and find suspected debris but will work with the BLM to do it the right way.

Enceladus “the only body besides Earth to satisfy all of the basic requirements for life,” Cassini reveals

Data beamed back by the Cassini spacecraft reveals that Enceladus, Saturn’s sixth-largest moon, isn’t shy about blasting large organic molecules into space.

Hydrothermal processes in the moon’s rocky core could synthesize organics from inorganic precursors. Alternatively, these processes could be transforming preexisting organics by heating, or they could even generate geochemical conditions in the subsurface ocean of Enceladus that would allow possible forms of alien life to synthesize biological molecules.

Mass spectrometry readings beamed back by NASA’s Cassini craft show that Enceladus is bursting with organic molecules. The moon’s icy surface is pockmarked with deep cracks that spew complex, carbon-rich compounds into space. Scientists at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) say these compounds are likely the result of interactions between the moon’s rocky core and warm waters from its subsurface ocean.

Why so organic?

“We are, yet again, blown away by Enceladus,” said SwRI’s Dr. Christopher Glein, co-author of a paper describin the discovery.

“Now we’ve found organic molecules with masses above 200 atomic mass units. That’s over ten times heavier than methane. With complex organic molecules emanating from its liquid water ocean, this moon is the only body besides Earth known to simultaneously satisfy all of the basic requirements for life as we know it.”

The Cassini mission, a cooperative project of NASA, ESA (European Space Agency) and the Italian Space Agency, is widely-held to be one of the most ambitious space exploration missions we’ve ever embarked upon. Launched on October 15, 1997, Cassini spent some 13 years studying the gas giant and its moons. The craft also flew by Venus (April 1998 and July 1999), Earth (August 1999), the asteroid 2685 Masursky, and Jupiter (December 2000), before settling in on Saturn’s orbit on July 1st, 2001.

On September 15, 2017, NASA de-commissioned the aging craft with a bang: they deorbited Cassini, letting it fall towards Saturn’s core and burn up in its atmosphere.

However, the wealth of information this tiny craft beamed back from its travels is still giving astronomers a lot to work on. Before its fiery demise, Cassini sampled the plume material ejected from the subsurface of Enceladus. Using its Cosmic Dust Analyzer (CDA) and the SwRI-led Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer (INMS) instruments, the craft analyzed both the plume itself and Saturn’s E-ring — which is formed by ice grains from the plumes trapped in Saturn’s gravity well.

During one of Cassini’s particularly close flybys of Enceladus (Oct. 28, 2015), the INMS detected molecular hydrogen in the moon’s plume ejections. Previous flybys also revealed the presence of a global subsurface ocean and a rocky core. This was the first indication that the moon can boast active geochemical below the surface, most likely between water and rocks in hydrothermal vents.

The presence of hydrogen was also grounds for great enthusiasm at NASA — the element is a known source of chemical energy for microbes living in hydrothermal vents here on good ol’ Earth.

“Once you have identified a potential food source for microbes, the next question to ask is ‘what is the nature of the complex organics in the ocean?'” says SwRI’s Dr. Hunter Waite, INMS principal investigator and paper coauthor. “This paper represents the first step in that understanding — complexity in the organic chemistry beyond our expectations!”

The findings are significant enough to influence further exploration, Glen believes. Any spacecraft that flies towards Enceladus in the future should make a point of going through its plume to analyze these complex organic molecules with a high-resolution mass spectrometer to “help us determine how they were made.”

“We must be cautious, but it is exciting to ponder that this finding indicates that the biological synthesis of organic molecules on Enceladus is possible.”

Odd Glowing Light Caught In The Sky Over Gelsenkirchen, Germany

On June 22, 2018 the witness recorded a strange object in the night sky over Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

The unknown object in the sky emits a pulsating bright orange light and the witness wonders whether it is a UFO or something else.

The light is not coming from city lights or laser beams from the ground, there is clearly an object in the sky that gives off the glow.

Bright UFO Observed Travelling Above Wales

A strange glowing sphere was spotted flying over Wales, which had many conspiracy theorists suggesting it was a UFO.

The video of the UFO sighting was reportedly shot in north Wales. It shows the ball of light moving across the night sky.

In the video, the cameraman said that the object was bright enough that it can be seen with the naked eye.

He wasn’t sure whether the object was travelling towards him or away from him. He concluded that it was not a spotlight.

According to the witness, it appeared to change direction as it was travelling across the sky.

The mysterious UFO sighting video sparked debates online, with commenters discussing what the object might have been.

One commenter said that they had seen something similar down south a few years ago.

Another one added that the UFO in the video has no navigation lights or any frame. He noted that it definitely met the criteria for a UFO whatever it is and whatever its origin.

However, some were not convinced what the video has shown.

One viewer said that it could be a helicopter ride at an amusement park or at a fair. He added that it looked like a Ferris wheel towards the end.

The Lights Above the New Jersey Turnpike in 2001

Description: This is a brief clip of the massive UFO sighting over New Jersey on the night of July 14th, 2001. It shows the formation of the lights as they appeared to be formed in a "v-shaped/diamond shape". The object cruises slowly over the town as some of the lights do flicker briefly. If you see carefully, they flicker in nearly the same spot as the object maintains perfect speed.

Several news organisations revealed in 2017 the existence of the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program (AATIP), an American government-funded investigation into UFOs from 2007 to 2012. However, the $22 million program wasn’t the first of its kind.

Official government studies on UFOs officially started in the 1940s with Project Sign, gathering some of the most credible footages of the aerial phenomenon to date. Interest in UFOs and aliens across the world reignited with the revelation in 2017 that the American government was actively investigating UFOs.

One of the most credible modern UFO sightings took place in New Jersey Turnpike.

On July 14, 2001, motorists on the New Jersey Turnpike stopped alongside a highway and looked towards the sky. The reason for their strange action was the sighting of mysterious orange and yellow lights in a V formation above the Arthur Kill Waterway between Staten Island in New York and Carteret in New Jersey for around 15 minutes just after midnight.

One of the witnesses was Lt. Daniel Tarrant of Carteret Police Department. Many metro area residents from the Throgs Neck Bridge on Long Island and Fort Lee, New Jersey near the George Washington Bridge also witnessed the same.

Air traffic controllers denied any unusual sightings that night, but New York Strange Phenomena Investigators (NY-SPI) group claimed they obtained FAA radar data that corroborated the UFO sightings.

Victorville — Me and my wife were going to run a few errands when we noticed a strange round cloud on May 25, 2018. It was weird to us because it was the only cloud in the sky that day. I took a picture of it at 6:51 PM Pacific time. We went on with our business and came out the store at 7:31pm and the cloud was still there with a chemtrail through it. I found it odd and took 2 pictures while on the freeway and wanted to capture the beautiful view and cloud but noticed a round object in the picture. Key West — Submitting this on behalf of “N,” a long time friend and work partner. On June 13, 2018, N was on a boat as usual offshore about a mile north-west of Key West. He was looking west admiring the sunset and noticed an unidentifiable object moving in a rapid, irregular fashion in the sky. N has been a sober and professional mariner in Key West for 18 years and has never seen anything like this. The object appeared partly transparent before briefly glowing white and orb like all around, then it disappeared. N used his Smartphone to take photos and it appeared in three out of four photos. Massachusetts Boomerang

Visiting my family at the home where I grew up, after everyone else in the house was asleep, I was sitting on the back stoop, in view of the woods on May 25, 2018, feeling calm and peaceful I silently (in my head) invited any ships in the area to reveal themselves.

Within roughly a minute, a chevron (or triangular/boomerang) shaped object appeared over the woods, partially obscured by the tree line. I counted five green lights on the bottom of the object, which glided up slowly from the point of materialization at an angle that allowed me to view its full shape.

Viewing this object, I felt a sense of joy and I was invited to meet the occupants of the object. I declined, and thanked them for trusting me. Almost instantly, the object dematerialized. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Moscow Mills — Driving down Graven’s Road I noticed it hovering to my right as I was driving on June 19, 2018 . I first thought it was a blimp. It was gray and white in color and then started to move left to right very quickly. Wished I could pull over to take a picture but there were no sides to the road. I lost sight of the object when a jet flew right next to it and then it quickly shifted to the left and disappeared.

‘Mills River — My husband was standing at the front door about to head out, while I was reading on the couch June 16, 2018.. When he hollered for me to join him. I did, and in amazement I saw 4 bright orange lights in the sky, moving SE very slowly. At first, I thought it was lanterns, but these didn’t move like lanterns. I hollered for my teen to come record for me and she caught a video which I have. We observed one of the lights suddenly blink of existence, and the final 3 formed a triangle pointed to the left and shot straight up into the sky. Strongsville — I was leaving work on June 16, 2018, when in the southwestern sky, I saw an orange ball of light with a lighter orange halo that changed shape as a parachute might. It was the height of an airplane or slightly lower. It moved up in altitude smoothly for a minute, then moved back down, then up and out of my view after a total of 5 minutes. SeaTac — I was at my parent’s house celebrating father’s day on June 17, 2018, when my dad noticed something in the sky. I came over and had to crouch down to finally see it. It was very high and initially looked like a bubble. It was round in shape and it seemed to be reflective of the sun. After grabbing a pair of binoculars, I could see the object was a transparent sphere but

lined with lights around the circumference of the perimeter. I just didn’t like not knowing what it was. After seeing the first one, another one came up from the left of where we were and stayed idle. My brother who came over to see what my father and I saw.  Recife, Brazil to Sao Paulo –I was in a commercial airplane flying from to Sao Paulo. I was taking photos out of the plane window of the sunset. I noticed something unusual and kept taking photos. Later when I studied the photos, I noticed dark disc-shaped objects and lights. It looked like they were waiting for something to happen. Photos after this showed what appeared to be orange UFO’s ascending out of the sun. Later, I researched and found orange UFO’s like these are seen all over the world but nobody knows what they are.  Scarborough, Ontario — While outside afternoon work break on May 25, 2018, noticed a high distant flashing red -white light to the east. It was moving directly west -east half mile away when it stopped for about thirty seconds. It also was then flashing quite extreme of light. I alerted a co-worker and pointed out to him. He could now see it as I pulled out my camera and zoomed in and took some pictures. In two pictures with some detail captured this unknown object. The pictures were taken 3:25 pm. Dan Dong — I am from Finland and I was visiting China on July 14, 2013, visiting my wife`s family. My wife and two kids returned to our 5th floor apartment at 8.30 pm. When I looked out of the window I saw three hovering and flashing objects on the side of the 30 stories high apartment building, which is less than one mile away. They rose slowly and moved slowly flashing red, green, blue and white. My family and my wife’s family all saw the lights for 30 minutes that climbed so high they could not be observed. The US Government On The Verge Of Confiscating Supposed Debris Of The Roswell UFO Crash

In 2011, a man discovered a number of artifacts in Roswell, New Mexico, where an alien spacecraft had supposedly crashed in 1947.

He took the mysterious metallic pieces to a number of labs for testing. Results came back showing that the mysterious artifacts were not from Earth. 

“…either the lab made an analytical error or the material is not from Earth.”

The Roswell case, also dubbed the Roswell UFO incident, refers to the alleged crash of an alien spacecraft in Roswell, New Mexico, in the United States, on July 10. 1947.

The event marked the birth of modern ufology and led to numerous debates, theories, and speculations about the existence of extraterrestrial life.

Many others consider these claims totally unfounded.

But despite this, millions of people have since become firm believers in alien life, despite skeptics arguing that the event that occurred on July 10, 1947, was not related to extraterrestrial life in any way.

The ultimate truth is that when speaking about the Roswell crash, everyone wants’s evidence to back up the claims.

And while many people have claimed to have found pieces of the alleged UFO that crashed in New Mexico no one has approached the matter with scientific thinking.

That’s why in 2011, a UFO investigator said he discovered a peculiar material at the site where he believes the alien ship crashed in Roswell and even decided to perform lab tests on the strange piece, in order to prove it was part of a spaceship.

The man behind the ‘sensational’ discovery was Frank Kimbler who was a teacher of geology and earth sciences at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell.

When Mr. Kimbler arrived for the first time as a professor in the area, he thought it would be cool to investigate the local UFO legend: the crash of an alleged extraterrestrial space ship alien ship.

He thought it would be fun to search the area where the UFO had allegedly crashed and disintegrated in 1947, as well as to research what the military may have done to cover up any evidence of a possible alien ship.

Eventually, Mr. Kimbler decided it would be a good idea to start off his investigation by analyzing different satellite photos. He found that certain areas where the alleged ship had crashed appeared to have been burned, with unnatural geological features.

Carrying a metal detector, he managed to sneak into the area and find fragments of a strange metal (probably an alloy), in addition to some buttons that match those used by military personnel in the middle of the last century.

According to Alejandro Rojas from openminds.Tv who covered the discovery in 2011, Mr. Kimbler discovered “that the object was most likely about ¾ of a mile long and a few hundred feet wide, and facing the direction witnesses had reported. He also noticed this area had very straight edges, something unusual for a natural occurrence.”

The information gathered via satellite images, and in-situ offered more questions than answers.

Mr. Kimbler’s goal was to find physical evidnece of the crash. Now that he had found it, his next step was to see what he had found

The most important discovery made by Mr. Kimbler was a silvery metal that resembled aluminum.

While exploring the area where aliens had allegedly crashed, he discovered more silvery pieces that seemed to have been shredded, and some of the edges of the artifacts even appeared melted.

After gathering enough physical evidence, Mr. Kimbler turned to the Roswell International UFO Museum and Research Center where he showed his discoveries to the museum director, Julie Shuster, who introduced him to Don Schmitt.

The first tests were performed by New Mexico Tech in Socorro.

Scientists used microprobes to determine that the material Kimbler had found was aluminum, silicon, manganese and copper alloy.

Despite not being ‘unknown,’ or otherworldly, the material isn’t usually found in foil form.

With more questions than answers, Kimbler decided to obtain an isotopic analysis of the piece.

He turned to the University of New Mexico Institute of Meteoritics where he spoke with a researcher who was expert in isotopes.

Kimbler had not told the scientists anything about the piece he had brought.

As noted by Rojas in his piece for Openminds.tv, the research from the University of New Mexico Institute of Meteoritics told Kimbler that he wanted to test the piece as he suspected the material was from outer space.

Still without all the answers he needed, Bigelow Aerospace showed interest in helping Kimbler get to the bottom of the mystery. However, after months had gone by without any results, Kimbler decided to go elsewhere and find another lab where his piece could be adequately tested.

The money needed for the research was obtained by the UFO Museum. Eventually, the results came in, and everyone was left with a big surprise: Kimbler said that “either the lab made an analytical error or the material is not from Earth.”

Now, seven years into the study of the mysterious pieces, Kimbler says that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) wants to confiscate the material he had found.

As explained in another article by Rojas for Openminds.tv, “initial isotopic ratio test done in conjunction with the Roswell International UFO Museum and Research Center was inconclusive but suggested the material may be of unearthly origins. Kimbler has continued research on the material and says he is close to proving the “ET origins of Roswell.”

And now that Kimbler says he is on the brink of proving how an alien ship did crash in Roswell in 1947, he is terrified that the government may confiscate his evidence.

“Kimbler was recently contacted by them and asked to bring the materials in on Monday, June 25. This news comes less than two weeks before the annual Roswell UFO festival,” explains ufo author Alejandro Rojas.

An excerpt of the email sent by Mr. Kimbler to Openminds.tv:

“The Bureau of Land Management contacted me today and requested that I bring the artifacts that I found down to their office in Roswell. They want their enforcement officer to look at the material and see if I’m in violation of US laws. [Their] own published document clearly says that anything less than 100 years old is not an artifact. It also says of human origin in all US laws. This a prelude to confiscation or fines or both. Seriously, folks, I’m one scientific test away from proving the ET origins of Roswell.”

Ancient Genetic Engineers: Do Ancient Texts Offer Evidence of Ancient Aliens?

Many people believe that the miraculous evolutionary leap that led to what the human species is today resembles more a laborious work of genetic engineering than a simple evolutionary process.

Is surprising that there are numerous ancient texts that speak of the creation of mankind and refer to a time when “beings” created mankind?

Curiously, according to many authors, the Bible also mentions the same thing.

It is also extremely surprising that advanced cultures such as the Sumerian flourished in a matter of days without leaving any traces of successive stages of evolution that indicate a progressive cultural, architectural or mathematical breakthrough in their history. It is as if these cultures popped out of nowhere and civilizations just came into existence.

These are just some of the points that have been completely ignored by mainstream scholars who have studied and analyzed ancient civilizations across the globe.

Also, in a relatively short period of time, the primitive man emerged literally out of nowhere from nothing, creating huge empires, advanced civilizations which achieved the impossible while proving to be way more developed than what history as we know it is willing to admit. This leaves us with a couple of questions that have not been answered by mainstream scholars. Is it possible that there is a missing link in the “evolution process” of primitive man? And is it possible that “external” factors interfered with the development of primitive man and early civilizations on our planet?

The origin and the actual cause which eventually led to what we know about history today was written down by our ancestors thousands of years ago: where ancient man pointed towards the stars, towards Orion, Sirius, and other constellations, where according to them, Gods came from above, advanced beings that interfered directly and indirectly with the evolution process of human beings.

When we turn to the book of Genesis, we read how the creation of man occurred:

• The Sixth Day: Creatures on Land 

…25 God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them…

Here, I the above text we cannot help and underline a few very important words that have been omitted by those who have studied ancient texts: “Let Us make man in Our image …”

Who are “They” who created man in “their” image?

Is it possible that Adam was the result of what many interpret as in vitro fertilization? And what if the genetic designers were the gods Enki his sister Ninhursag and Ningishzidda as some theorists propose?

Let us turn to the Popol Vuh, the ancient book of the Maya where we find very similar descriptions.

These beings who created mankind are referred to in the Popol Vuh as “the Creator, the Former, the Dominator, the Feathered-Serpent, they-who-engender, they-who-give-being, and hovered over the water as a dawning light.”

“Our work and our labor have accomplished its end.” The earth then was covered with various forms of animal life. And the Creator and Former said to the animals: “Speak now our name!” But the animals could not speak as a man. Then said their Makers: “Our glory is not yet perfect since ye cannot invoke us. Dens and food shall ye have, but as to your flesh, it shall be eaten. This is your destiny.”

Does the ancient text speak of several times “they” tried creating man? It seems as though these beings failed at the beginning, and in the “heaven” they sat and thought it through one more time. Can you literally sit in heaven? Well, probably, if you are in an airplane or other vehicles… right? But here is what the ancient texts say:

“Again there is counsel in heaven. “Let us try again; let us make them who are to be our vehicles and nourishers.” So the Creators determined to make man. Of red earth they molded his flesh; but when they had made him, they saw it was not good. He was without coherence, strengthless, inept, watery; he had been endowed with speech, but he had no intelligence; and straightway he was consumed in the water without being able to stand upright.”

Again the gods took counsel. It was decided to make man of the wood of the tzite cork-tree, and woman of the marrow of the zibac (willow); but the result was in no wise satisfactory — they were merely wooden manikins. And these are the people who inhabit the surface of the earth. They existed and multiplied, but had neither heart nor intelligence, nor memory of their Creators. They led a useless life and lived like the animals.

They had neither father nor mother, neither were they made by the ordinary agents in the work of creation, but their coming into existence was a miracle extraordinary, wrought by the special intervention of the Creator. “Verily, at last, did the gods look on beings who were worthy of their origin.”

Exoplanet Biosignatures: Will We Be Able to Recognize Extraterrestrial Life If We See It?

A team of leading astronomers, biologists and geologists have come together under the Nexus for Exoplanet System Science (NExSS), a NASA research coordination network dedicated to the study of planetary habitability, to make an inventory of the most promising signs of life, called biosignatures.

NExSS considered how to interpret the presence of biosignatures, should we detect them on extrasolar planets.

“We’re moving from theorizing about life elsewhere in our Milky Way Galaxy to a robust science that will eventually give us the answer we seek to that profound question: Are we alone?” said Dr. Martin Still, an exoplanet scientist at NASA Headquarters.

The assessment comes as a new generation of space and ground-based telescopes are in development.

The NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope will characterize the atmospheres of some of the first small, rocky planets.

Other observatories — such as the Giant Magellan Telescope and the Extremely Large Telescope — are planning to carry sophisticated instruments capable of detecting the first exoplanet biosignatures.

Through their work, NExSS scientists aim to identify the instruments needed to detect potential life for future NASA missions.

The detection of atmospheric signatures of a few potentially habitable planets may possibly come before 2030, although whether the planets are truly habitable or have life will require more in-depth study.

Since humans won’t be able to visit distant planets and collect samples anytime soon, the light that a telescope observes will be all we have in the search for extraterrestrial life.

Telescopes can examine the light reflecting off a distant world to show us the kinds of gases in the atmosphere and their ‘seasonal’ variations, as well as colors like green that could indicate life.

These kinds of biosignatures can all be seen on our fertile Earth from space, but the new worlds we examine will differ significantly.

For example, many of the promising planets astronomers have found are around cooler stars, which emit infrared light, rather than our Sun’s high emissions of visible-light.

“What does a living planet look like? We have to be open to the possibility that life may arise in many contexts in a galaxy with so many diverse worlds — perhaps with purple-colored life instead of the familiar green-dominated life forms on Earth, for example. That’s why we are considering a broad range of biosignatures,” explained Dr. Mary Parenteau, an astrobiologist and microbiologist at NASA’s Ames Research Center.

The NExSS scientists assert that oxygen — the gas produced by photosynthetic organisms on Earth — remains the most promising biosignature of life elsewhere, but it is not foolproof. Abiotic processes on a planet could also generate oxygen.

Conversely, a planet lacking detectable levels of oxygen could still be alive — which was exactly the case of Earth before the global accumulation of oxygen in the atmosphere.

“On early Earth, we wouldn’t be able to see oxygen, despite abundant life,” said Dr. Victoria Meadows, an astronomer at the University of Washington in Seattle.

“Oxygen teaches us that seeing, or not seeing, a single biosignature is insufficient evidence for or against life — overall context matters.”

Rather than measuring a single characteristic, the researchers argue that we should be looking at a suite of traits.

A planet must show itself capable of supporting life through its features, and those of its parent star.

The NExSS team will create a framework that can quantify how likely it is that a planet has life, based on all the available evidence.

With the observation of many planets, astronomers may begin to more broadly classify the ‘living worlds’ that show common characteristics of life, versus the ‘non-living worlds.’

“We won’t have a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to finding life elsewhere. What we will have is a high level of confidence that a planet appears alive for reasons that can only be explained by the presence of life,” said Dr. Shawn Domagal-Goldman, an astrobiologist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

The NExSS researchers reported their results and analysis in the June 2018 issue of the journal Astrobiology.

Many UFO buffs are convinced that the movie was produced as part of an official acclimation program in anticipation of an alien “disclosure” event. This speculation can be traced back to the production of the movie itself. On 23 July 1976, after a hard day’s shoot, around forty of the cast and crew, including stars Richard Dreyfuss and Melinda Dillon, gathered in the sticky night air of Mobile, Alabama, to hear a lecture delivered by the movie’s appointed advisor on UFOs, Professor J. Allen Hynek (the famed astronomer had been flown in for a brief cameo in the closing scenes). Shortly after Hynek’s lecture, actor Bob Balaban (who plays the character of translator David Laughlin), began to discuss with his colleagues an intriguing rumour that had been circulating during the production—“a rumour,” wrote Balaban in his production diary, “that the film is part of the necessary training that the human race must go through in order to accept an actual landing, and is being secretly sponsored by a government UFO agency.”

In 2014, I had the opportunity to interview Close Encountersproduction designer, Joe Alves. I asked him if ever he had heard any such rumours during the shoot, and if there was any substance to them. “There were a lot of rumours,” he told me, ambiguously, before changing the subject.

Back in 1977, even Spielberg himself seemed to be dropping hints: “I wouldn’t put it past this government that a cosmic Watergate has been underway for the last 25 years,” the director remarked during a Close Encounters promotional interview, “eventually they might want to tell us something about what they’ve discovered over the decades.” During the same interview, the director spoke with relish of “rumours” that President Carter was due to make “some unsettling disclosures” about UFOs later that year. Particularly curious is that the Carter Presidential Library contains no record of the film-loving President ever having viewed Close Encounters while in office. However, in a 1977 Canadian TV interview conducted directly after the movie’s theatrical release, Spielberg said matter-of-factly that Carter had viewed the movie “Last Saturday.” Spielberg remarked, “We haven’t heard the direct feedback,” but added, “We hear he [Carter] liked it quite a bit.”  The following March, The Phoenix Gazette cited Close Encounters as “Jimmy Carter’s favorite movie,” noting that “The President has seen the movie many times.” This is not the only discrepancy over the official record concerning Carter and Spielberg. Officially, Spielberg never set foot in the Carter White House and had never met the President, and yet a solitary photocopy of a photograph discovered in the Carter Presidential Library proves that the two men did meet. The photo shows Carter and Spielberg engaged in conversation and is signed: “To Steven Spielberg, [from] Jimmy Carter.” An accompanying White House stationary note signed by White House Social Secretary Gretchen Poston and addressed to Spielberg reads: “The President thought you would enjoy receiving the enclosed photograph.”

This apparent secrecy almost certainly resulted from a desire among Carter’s staff to keep the Administration from being further publicly associated with flying saucers. Famously, Carter had his own UFO sighting in 1969 in Leary, Georgia, witnessing a bright white round object that approached his position before stopping and then receding into the distance. Carter was with twelve other people at the time, all of whom witnessed the strange phenomenon.  Needless to say, a UFO-spotting President viewing the ultimate UFO movie at the White House and having get-togethers with its alien-obsessed director would have been a PR nightmare.

By far the most outlandish of the conspiracy theories surrounding Close Encounters relates to Project Serpo—an alleged human/alien exchange program between US military personnel and a race of extraterrestrials from the Zeta Reticuli star system. The story goes that, in July of 1965, twelve astronauts were taken to the planet Serpo aboard an alien spaceship and remained there for thirteen years. In exchange, the aliens left one of their own in the custody of the US government. This story didn’t emerge until 2005 in the form of a string of anonymous emails that were sent to selected UFO researchers, including Project Camelot/Avalon’s Bill Ryan, who created a website dedicated to the “leaks.”

The Serpo story lead some in the conspiracy community to speculate that Close Encounters was partly inspired by the alleged alien-human exchange program of 1965, which assumes that Spielberg himself was privy to inside information on the UFO issue. In the movie’s final scenes, a taller alien (designed by effects expert Carlo Rambaldi) is seen to exit the mothership and communicate with the character of Claude Lacombe via a series of hand gestures. Immediately before this we see twelve scientists clad in jumpsuits preparing to board the mothership and take permanent leave of planet Earth. Roy Neary joins the group as its thirteenth member.

It is important to note that the Serpo story, which has not a shred of evidence to support it, did not emerge until 2005, twenty-eight years after the release of Close Encounters. It’s probably safe to assume then that former inspired the latter, rather than vice versa.

Whether or not there is any truth to the conspiracy theories surrounding Close Encounters, Spielberg’s movie remains hugely significant for the fact that it played a central role in Hollywood’s mid-to-late-1970s economic revival—its $338 million worldwide box-office gross forced crusty studio executives to recognize America’s vast and largely neglected youth market and to adapt their output accordingly. Two other alien-themed movies of the period would also play a key role in this industrial paradigm shift: Star Wars (1977) and Superman(1978). Together, these three films about the wonders of the universe acted as adrenalin, shot straight into the heart of a dying industry (though many critics would argue, perhaps justifiably, that this adrenalin acted as poison in the long-term, stifling creativity and individuality in Hollywood). Spielberg’s film also reignited public curiosity about UFOs as an enduring enigma, and its release closely coincided with the thirtieth anniversary of the Roswell Incident. Just one year later, Jesse Marcel would spill the beans on his first-hand experiences of that event, opening the floodgates for hundreds more closely-corresponding Roswell testimonies.

With Vietnam and Watergate still fresh in the mind, Close Encounters came as a reassuring hug for America towards the end of a decade of disillusionment, and Spielberg’s movie would redefine Hollywood’s working relationship with aliens for much of the 1980s, resulting in movies such as E.T.: The Extraterrestrial, Starman, Batteries Not Included, and The Abyss, to name but a few. There’s no need to train Baxter to read a person’s specific brainwaves, so once the technology is commercially viable, Baxter can be bossed around on a whim simply by putting on the cap and arm band.

There is a good hopeful use for this robot. Anything that allows people robbed of agency by circumstance get control over their lives back is objectively a good thing, and if that’s the path we’re going down then bravo, MIT.

But don’t think we’re ending this on a high note. Here’s what PhD candidate Joseph DelPreto and lead author of the latest paper on Baxter says about the technology:

This helps make communicating with a robot more like communicating with another person.”

Yes, just like communicating with a human: unexpressed resentment and patronizing hand gestures. What better way to usher in the horrifying future we’re eagerly wading into than to make the first “robot servant”—insert your own synonym for “robot servant” there—feed into our secret narcissistic want to have things change based on our split-second emotional reactions without that irksome and apparently passé step of verbalizing how we feel in a half-way cogent manner.

Alien Light Being Makes Rare Appearance Over Volcano Of New Zealand, June 25, 2018, UFO Sighting News.

Above is a light being standing over a volcano. The being would measure about 25 meters tall as it stands on the surface of the volcano and looks around. Its easy to see its two legs two arms and head. 

Also the photos below have captured UFOs entering and exiting the mouth of the volcano. Excellent proof that there is an alien base 4-6km below the ground at some New Zealand volcanos.

UFO caught LIVE on camera during Newscast in Buffalo

An unidentified flying object or UFO raced across the sky over Buffalo, NY and was caught on camera during the evening weather cast.

Meteorologist Andy Parker was showing the night sky on SkyWatch7 late in the evening at around 11:20pm on Thursday June 14 when an object entered and exited the camera view.

The object travels from west to east and makes what appears to be a hook turn to the north and gains altitude before exiting near the top of the camera frame.

Andy Parker noticed the appearance of the object and offered up the idea it might have been a shooting star while asking the rest of the crew if anyone else had seen the object.

The object moves too fast to be a plane, originates too far away to be a bug, perhaps a meteorite?

However, the unknown flying object makes a curve something that a meteorite does not do.

The Roswell incident: how ‘UFO sighting’ sparked 70 years of conspiracy theories

A US government ‘cover-up’, the declassification of top secret files and big-budget alien movies have fuelled interest in UFOs

On 8 July 1947 the Roswell Daily Record newspaper published a front page article with the headline “RAAF Captures Flying Saucer On Ranch in Roswell Region”, and the legend of America's most famous brush with aliens was born.

Today, many conspiracy theorists consider the so-called “Roswell incident” to be one of the most conspicuous pieces of evidence that the US government has covered up the existence of extraterrestrial life on Earth.

Next month thousands of people from all over the world will travel to the town, the de facto UFO capital of the world, but the Roswell story's position in the public imagination was far from immediate.

What was the Roswell incident?

On 7 July 1947, around 75 miles north of the town of Roswell in New Mexico, debris from a highly classified project used by the US Army Air Force (the precursor to the US Air Force) to detect atomic bomb tests in the Soviet Union, was recovered from a ranch after being reported by ranch worker William Brazel.

Intrigued by the idea of flying saucers, Brazel gathered some of the debris and went to Roswell where he told Sheriff George Wilcox about his find. According to reports he “whispered kinda confidential like”. Wilcox immediately reported the encounter to the USAAF base at Roswell which promptly sent agents to visit the ranch, but not before the press picked up the story.

What was reported at the time?

On 8 July 1947 Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) issued a press release stating that a “flying disk” had crashed on a ranch near Roswell during a powerful storm. Later in the day, as government scientists arrived in the area, the story appeared to change. A press conference was held and it was stated instead that a weather balloon had crashed. Reporters were shown debris said to be taken from the crash area, such as foil, rubber and wood, which appeared to confirm that the object had been a weather balloon.

After initially suggesting that Brazel's debris had come from a UFO, the Roswell Daily Record reported a correction which included the USAAF statement that it was a weather balloon that had been found at the site. Brazel later went on record to say that he regretted the publicity that his misidentification had caused.

According to the official accounts, the debris Brazel found came from a balloon which was part of an experimental technology trial codenamed Project Mogul.

What was Project Mogul?

The classified Project Mogul was designed to detect sound waves in the upper atmosphere from Soviet atom bomb tests by flying microphones on trains of balloons at high altitude. Although the technology was quickly superseded, it remained secret for more than 20 years after the event. The fact that the balloon was involved in Cold War surveillance of the Soviet Union may have helped to propel rumours of a cover-up.

How did it become a cause celebre?

For 31 years the story was largely forgotten until The National Enquirer reported the original Roswell Daily Record story again, but not the correction. Following the publication of the new story, theories suggesting that the government's incomplete account had been an attempt to cover-up the discovery of an alien spacecraft began to take root.

What did other witnesses say?

Several people claimed to have seen debris scattered over a wide area and at least one person reported seeing a blazing aircraft in the sky shortly before it crashed, but the key account came from a former mortician, Glenn Dennis, who claimed in 1989 that a friend who worked as a nurse at the Roswell Army Air Field had accidentally walked into an examination room where doctors were bent over the bodies of three creatures. They apparently resembled humans, but with small bodies, spindly arms and giant bald heads.

In 1995, Ray Santilli, a London-based entrepreneur, released “footage” of an alien autopsy performed in Roswell in 1947. Experts immediately ridiculed the footage as a hoax and he admitted years later that it was almost entirely fake. Nevertheless, Santilli insisted real footage existed, but due to its poor condition he had been forced to recreate it.

Critics have questioned the validity of various witnesses and pointed out that many claims over the years have come from “friends of friends” who supposedly saw something out of the ordinary.

Stranger than fiction?

Coincidentally, the republication of the story came just one year after the release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, a film about a government conspiracy covering up alien visits to Earth. The film was released in the USA in November and the following year in the UK. That year 750 sightings were officially documented in the UK by the Ministry of Defence UFO desk, the highest figure on record.

Did UFO sightings continue to increase?

Looking at UFO sightings data from both sides of the Atlantic, a direct correlation between popular films involving aliens and real world UFO sightings becomes evident. In 2009, The Guardian detailed the popular culture influences that may have helped propel UFO sightings in the UK in 1996. In the year that Independence Day and Mars Attacks were released there were 609 UFO sightings across the UK, significantly more than the years just before or after.

Unofficial data, supplied by the National UFO Reporting Centre in America suggest that UFO sightings have been slowly increasing in the US since the 1970s, growing increasingly rapidly since the early 1990s.

One possible explanation for this is that the reporting centre became both better known and easier to contact with the advent of new technologies such as fax machines and the internet.

In 2014, The Economist analysed the available data from 2000 to 2014 and found that most UFOs were reported when people were drunk.

Did declassifying Project Mogul help?

Even though Project Mogul was declassified in the 1970s, it wasn't fully connected to Roswell until 1994 when the normally secretive National Security Agencyfinally published an in-depth report refuting all claims of a conspiracy at the site. A second report, released in 1997, concluded that reports of alien bodies actually related to life-sized anthropomorphic test dummies.

But by providing detailed analysis of the Roswell incident, many analysts believe that the US government inadvertently fuelled interest in conspiracy theories and public suspicions that the US military was involved in a cover-up.

Roswell: the UFO capital of the world

Because of the huge notoriety surrounding the Roswell incident, the town has become Ground Zero for UFO conspiracists.

Each year on the anniversary of the story, thousands of enthusiasts embrace all things alien and paranormal at a UFO Festival. There, they can dissect mock alien bodies and take part in scientific experiments.

Last year, to mark 70 years since the incident was first reported, around 38,000 people turned up from all over the world.

Kathy Lay, executive director for MainStreet Roswell, says:

“You have people all over the city. There will be some out at the mall at Galactic Con. Some will be at the UFO museum doing the seminars and workshops. You'll have some that will be going to the plays that are going on, some will be over at the planetarium, some will be here at this festival. They're all over - we just embrace it.”
