A long time ago in a Welsh aircraft hangar far away: Never-before-seen images reveal secret 1979 project to construct Star Wars' Millennium Falcon for classic films

The secret of how the legendary Star Wars spaceship the Millennium Falcon was built has been revealed - in a high-security project codenamed 'Magic Roundabout' in the Welsh countryside.

The only full-size model of Han Solo's iconic craft was constructed at an aircraft hangar in Pembroke Dock, west Wales, where workers were sworn to silence over what they were making.

Newly released photographs show dozens of joiners, welders and metal-platers at work during the three months they spent putting together the giant freighter flown by Harrison Ford in the famous science fiction series.

It was built inside an aircraft hangar with workers involved in the project sworn to secrecy

The huge prop was made inside an aircraft hangar which had been home to the Sunderland flying boats during the Second World War.

The giant steel doors were kept shut from morning until night to hide the construction - there were no unauthorised visits, photographs were banned and the workers were sworn to secrecy.

But one amateur photographer managed to get a snap of the 'fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy' as it was nearing completion.

The never before seen picture shows how the Millennium Falcon earned its wings in the town of Pembroke Dock.

John Evans, a historian in the town, said: 'Star Wars has a global following and this is yet another great reason for tourists to come here.

'Pembroke Dock is a military town and we have people coming from far and wide to follow family footsteps, be it Navy, Army or Air Force.

'But there is also this incredible link to Star Wars which is almost a cult thing and a 21st century concept.

'People can still see the very building where the Millennium Falcon was made.'

The photograph was taken by local man John Clark, a foreman with Marcon Fabrications, a heavy engineering firm that serviced the UK's petrochemical and oil industries.

Mr Clark recalled: 'One of the directors was in cahoots with someone with the studios or someone associated with the Star Wars films.

'I was very surprised that we'd gone that type of work because we built stuff for the oil industry and the offshore industry, but we got the contract. It was just a reasonable size team of workers that built all the framework.

'I was foreman on the job at the time. When we built it - as you can see on the photographs - we had it on hover pads on the legs so that it could be moved as though it was going to take off and so forth.

'We tried to keep it as much a secret as possible because you didn't want everybody prying and coming round the hangar, but it got out. People were prying and trying to see what was going on but half of them didn't believe it, saying: "Building a spaceship? That's rubbish".'

He said the Millennium Falcon was then disassembled into pieces so it could be transported to the studios in Hertfordshire.

'The artists in the film industry, the craftsman, went to work on it and made it into what you see on The Empire Strikes Back.'

The company had been asked by filmmakers to build a life-sized, moving prop for key scenes in the second Star Wars film, The Empire Strikes Back.

And Mr Clark used his pocket-sized 110 camera to get a colour photograph of himself and two friends standing next to the Millennium Falcon.

Work on the spaceship finished shortly after the picture was taken in 1979 and the prop was transported to Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.

The film was released in 1980 and was a box office smash around the world. This was followed up by the third film in the trilogy, 1983's Return of the Jedi.

A permanent exhibition of Star Wars photographs, artefacts and memorabilia is being opened to celebrate Pembroke Dock's links with the iconic movie franchise.

Mr Evans added: 'This has been a huge thing for us.

'This is great for tourism and a very unique claim to fame for Pembroke Dock.'

THE MILLENNIUM FALCON: HAN SOLO AND CHEWBACCA'S LIGHT FREIGHTER

Han Solo's much-loved Millennium Falcon (pictured) has taken a unique place in pop culture

In the 38 years since it first appeared on the big screen, the space ship piloted by Han Solo and his Wookiee assistant Chewbacca in the original Star Wars series has become an easily recognizable piece of pop culture.

Armed with laser cannons and the famed 'hyperdrive' technology, it featured in the first movie A New Hope and went on to become a regular setting throughout the series.

Such is the high esteem in which fans hold it, the exact specifications of the model, its weaponry, shielding systems and engines have all been meticulously documented.

The ship is technically a light freighter measuring 111ft in length by 82ft wide. While it is rounded and flat in shape, it measures 26ft high - inclusive of the attached exterior weaponry.

Its maximum speed is 1,050kmph. But this is vastly surpassed when it goes into 'hyperdrive' - a mode illustrated in the films when the stars surrounding it appear stretched or blurred as it travels through light years within the space of hours.

The ship is powered by five different engines - primarily a 'Quadrex power core' and four backup or emergency generators.

Its main weapons are 2G Quad Laster cannons and a hidden ground-defence blaster cannon, though many other improvised weapons make brief appearances in the films.

Capable of carrying six passengers, it is crewed by two people - those usually being Han Solo or Chewbacca - with provisions for two others to man guns during space battles.

Advanced Aliens Were Around BEFORE US: Confirms Exoplanet Scientists

It is becoming very clear that us humans may not be not the universe’s first advanced civilization.

This is the conclusion of a recent revision of the famous 1961 Drake Equation, which actually estimates the number of intelligent civilizations in the universe.

Their new equation includes recent data from Nasa’s Kepler satellite on the number of exoplanets that could harbour life.

Researchers also adapted the equation from being about the number of civilizations that exist now, to being about the probability of civilization being the only one that has ever existed!

We are FAR from alone

This important recent study shows that unless the odds of advanced life evolving on a habitable planet are astonishingly low, then humankind is not the only advanced civilization to have lived and there are probably far more advanced Beings out there in the greater Universe!

In fact, the odds of an advanced civilization developing need to be less than one in 10 billion trillion for humans to be the only intelligent life in the universe.

But Kepler data places those odds much higher, which means technologically advanced aliens are likely to have existed at some point.

Adam Frank, professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Rochester and co-author of the paper, went on to say:

‘The question of whether advanced civilizations exist elsewhere in the universe has always been vexed with three large uncertainties in the Drake equation,’

‘We’ve known for a long time approximately how many stars exist.

‘We didn’t know how many of those stars had planets that could potentially harbour life, how often life might evolve and lead to intelligent beings, and how long any civilizations might last before becoming extinct.’

‘Thanks to Nasa’s Kepler satellite and other searches, we now know that roughly one-fifth of stars have planets in ‘habitable zones,’ where temperatures could support life as we know it.

‘So one of the three big uncertainties has now been constrained.’ He said.

Frank went on to say that the third big question is. how long civilizations might survive – something which is as of yet still completely unknown.

‘The fact that humans have had rudimentary technology for roughly ten thousand years doesn’t really tell us if other societies would last that long or perhaps much longer,’ he explained.

The Drake equation (top row) has proven to be a durable framework for research. But it is impossible to do anything more than guess at variables such as L, the probably longevity of other advanced civilizations. In new research, Adam Frank and Woodruff Sullivan offer a new equation (bottom row)

But Frank and his co-author, Woodruff Sullivan of the astronomy department at the University of Washington, found they could eliminate that term altogether by simply expanding the question.

‘Rather than asking how many civilizations may exist now, we ask ‘are we the only technological species that has ever arisen?’ said Sullivan.

‘This shifted focus eliminates the uncertainty of the civilization lifetime question and allows us to address what we call the ‘cosmic archaeological question’ – how often in the history of the universe has life evolved to an advanced state?

Rather than guessing at the odds of advanced life developing, they calculate the odds against it occurring in order for humanity to be the only advanced civilization.

With that, Frank and Sullivan then calculated the line between a universe where humanity has been the sole experiment in civilization and one where others have come before us.

‘Of course, we have no idea how likely it is that an intelligent technological species will evolve on a given habitable planet,’ says Frank.

‘But using our method we can tell exactly how low that probability would have to be for us to be the only civilization the universe has produced.

‘We call that the pessimism line. If the actual probability is greater than the pessimism line, then a technological species and civilization has likely happened before.’

Using this interesting approach, Frank and Sullivan can now calculate how unlikely advanced life must be if there has never been another example among the universe’s ten billion trillion stars, or even among our own Milky Way galaxy’s hundred billion.

‘One in 10 billion trillion is incredibly small,’ says Frank. ‘To me, this implies that other intelligent, technology producing species very likely have evolved before us.

‘Think of it this way. Before our result you’d be considered a pessimist if you imagined the probability of evolving a civilization on a habitable planet were, say, one in a trillion

‘But even that guess, one chance in a trillion, implies that what has happened here on Earth with humanity has in fact happened about a 10 billion other times over cosmic history.’

 

For smaller volumes the numbers are less extreme.

For example, another technological species likely has evolved on a habitable planet in our own Milky Way galaxy if the odds against it are better than one chance in 60 billion.

But if those numbers seem to give ammunition to the ‘optimists’ about the existence of alien civilizations,

Sullivan points out that the full Drake equation – which calculates the odds that other civilizations are around today – may give solace to the pessimists.

‘The universe is more than 13 billion years old,’ said Sullivan.

‘That means that even if there have been a thousand civilizations in our own galaxy, if they live only as long as we have been around – roughly ten thousand years – then all of them are likely already extinct.

‘And others won’t evolve until we are long gone. For us to have much chance of success in finding another ‘contemporary’ active technological civilization, on average they must last much longer than our present lifetime.’

‘Given the vast distances between stars and the fixed speed of light we might never really be able to have a conversation with another civilization anyway,’ said Frank.

‘If they were 20,000 light years away then every exchange would take 40,000 years to go back and forth.’

But, as Frank and Sullivan point out, even if there aren’t other civilizations in our galaxy to communicate with now, the new result still has a profound scientific and philosophical importance.

‘From a fundamental perspective the question is ‘has it ever happened anywhere before?” said Frank.

Our result is the first time anyone has been able to set any empirical answer for that question and it is astonishingly likely that we are not the only time and place that an advance civilization has evolved.’

Once upon a time leading Scientists wanted us all to believe that we are alone in the Universe – this has now been proven to be pretty much impossible. The Universe is infested with life out there, and we the Human Race are probably far less developed than many older/wiser advanced Alien species.

De nieuwe topografische kaart is gebaseerd op gegevens die ruimtesonde MESSENGER heeft verzameld. Eerder brachten onderzoekers al een kaart uit waarop de topografie van het noordelijke deel en het gebied rond de evenaar van Mercurius pronkte. Hoe het zuiden topografisch gezien in elkaar stak, bleef een raadsel. Tot nu.

Hoog en laag
Onderzoekers hebben zo’n 100.000 foto’s gebruikt om een topografisch model van geheel Mercurius te maken. Het nieuwe model onthult tal van interessante topografische kenmerken, waaronder het hoogste en diepste punt van Mercurius. Het hoogste punt op de binnenste planeet van ons zonnestelsel ligt zo’n 4,48 kilometer boven de gemiddelde hoogte van het oppervlak. Het laagste punt ligt daar zo’n 5,38 kilometer onder. Het hoogstgelegen punt vinden we net ten zuiden van de evenaar in één van de oudste gebieden die Mercurius rijk is. Het laagste punt vinden we in het Rachmaninoff-basin.

Nabij de noordpool
Ook geeft de nieuwe kaart een prachtig beeld van het gebied nabij de noordpool van Mercurius. “MESSENGER heeft eerder ontdekt dat vulkanische activiteit in het verleden dit deel van de planeet met lava heeft ontdekt, op sommige plekken is de laag lava meer dan 1,6 kilometer dik,” vertelt onderzoeker Nancy Chabot. Het is in het verleden lastig gebleken om dit deel van Mercurius goed in beeld te krijgen. De zon staat hier altijd laag aan de horizon, waardoor lange schaduwen over het gebied vallen. En toch is het MESSENGER gelukt om een paar goede foto’s te maken en die leiden tot een prachtig topografisch kaartje (zie hieronder). “Dit is één van mijn favoriete kaarten van Mercurius,” stelt Chabot. “Nu de kaart beschikbaar is, kijk ik ernaar uit dat deze gebruikt wordt om deze epische vulkaanuitbarstingen die het oppervlak van Mercurius vormgaf te onderzoeken.”

Het is alweer een jaar geleden dat de missie van ruimtesonde MESSENGER tot een einde kwam. De sonde boorde zich in het oppervlak van Mercurius. Ex-NASA Astronaut Tom Jones ‘Used To Be A Big UFO Fan.’ Not Now.

“I haven’t seen the proof that would satisfy me that there’s really something there.”

Stories have been told for decades about American astronauts who supposedly have seen unexplained aerial phenomena (as Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton prefers to call UFOs).

But how many astronauts have really reported close encounters with objects that could be verified as actual unknowns? Vanishingly few, it turns out.

Veteran NASA astronaut Tom Jones said he wondered about UFOs long before he joined the space agency.

“I used to be a big UFO fan when I was a teenager, thinking that this was the next great frontier of exploration,” Jones said in a recent interview with The Huffington Post. “I dropped that opinion later on, after not seeing the evidence that I was looking for.”

In his Smithsonian Air & Space Magazine column, “Ask the Astronaut,” Jones answered a recent question about whether he or other astronauts had ever seen UFOs from orbit. He wrote:

Astronauts have not seen any evidence of alien life. Reports of unidentified flying objects in images returned from the shuttle or [space] station have turned out to be ice crystals, drifting orbital debris, lightning flashes, or meteors streaking through the dark atmosphere below. So far, our search for extraterrestrial life — and other civilizations in space — has turned up no proof of alien civilizations.

Jones told HuffPost how, during his 1996 space shuttle mission, there were reports that his crew saw UFOs:

I was on the shuttle Columbia — STS-80 — and even made a blog entry, ‘Did UFOs Visit The Shuttle Columbia?’ Because when we came back from that mission in 1996, NASA got several queries from people who were watching the video — NASA TV back then — and said, ‘Hey, we saw spaceships on the shuttle video. What’s NASA got to say about that?’

Public affairs referred them to me because I was one of the crew members, and I looked at the video and I said, ‘Oh, I know what this is — this is just ice crystals floating along beside the ship for the first couple of days of the flight.’ What looked to some people like a spaceship streaking across the star field, was — to us, looking out the windows — a complete non-event. And yet, it was very significant to people who were watching.

Jones flew on four space shuttle missions over 11 years, culminating with STS-98, in February 2001, as seen in the below video. On that mission, he led three spacewalks to install the U.S. Destiny Laboratory — the historic scientific centerpiece for the International Space Station.

Jones said no contemporary astronaut has ever told him of seeing something unexplained or inexplicable. “Certainly, nothing in the way of spaceships,” he added.

“Now, I’m aware that there have been a couple of astronauts in the past who’ve spoken out and said they know from other people that there’s evidence of UFOs and spaceships that have visited the Earth and that the government might be withholding it.

“They all seem to be secondhand, or they seem to be sightings of things that they’ve seen in orbit that, perhaps, they couldn’t explain at the time. And that’s where the story seems to peter out.”

One of those mentioned by Jones was the late Gordon Cooper, an original Mercury astronaut — one of the famous “Right Stuff” space voyagers. In 1975, Cooper told this writer how, in 1951 (before he became an astronaut), he and several other officers at an Air Force base in Germany witnessed groups of circular objects passing over the base.

“A weatherman spotted some strange objects flying at fairly high altitude and before long, the entire fighter group was out peering through binoculars at these groups of objects coming over in very strange patterns. But unlike fighters, they would almost stop in their forward velocity and change 90 degrees in their flight path. We never could get close enough to pin them down, but they were round in shape and very metallic-looking.

“I’d like to point out that most astronauts are very reluctant to even discuss UFOs due to the great numbers of people who have indiscriminately sold fake stories and forged documents abusing their names and reputations without hesitation,” Cooper said.

Jones said it’s important to be cautious about unusual aerial objects.

“Even from people that I respect, like a couple of very early and famous astronauts, I haven’t seen the proof that would satisfy me that there’s really something there,” he said. “And I think it’s far more likely that people who see unexplained things in the sky, there’s no proof that they’re actually intelligently guided or alien spaceships of any kind.

“Until all these people running around with cellphones and video cameras now can really produce something that’s really grabbing, I don’t think that I should change my mind about it.”

Many other planets throughout the universe probably hosted intelligent life long before Earth did, a new study suggests.

The probability of a civilization developing on a potentially habitable alien planet would have to be less than one in 10 billion trillion — or one part in 10 to the 22nd power — for humanity to be the first technologically advanced species the cosmos has ever known, according to the study.

"To me, this implies that other intelligent, technology-producing species very likely have evolved before us," said lead author Adam Frank, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Rochester in New York. [13 Ways to Hunt Intelligent Alien Life]

In 1961, astronomer Frank Drake devised a formula to estimate the number of extraterrestrial civilizations that may exist today in the Milky Way.

Adam Frank and co-author Woodruff Sullivan of the University of Washington were interested in the odds that intelligent aliens have ever existed anywhere in the universe. So they tweaked the famous Drake equation, coming up with an "archaeological version" that doesn't take into account how long alien civilizations may last.

Frank and Sullivan also incorporated observations from NASA's Kepler space telescope and other instruments, which suggest that about 20 percent of all stars host planets in the life-friendly, "habitable zone," where liquid water could exist on a world's surface.

The researchers then calculated the probability that Earth was the universe's first-ever abode for intelligent life, after taking into account the number of stars in the observable universe (about 20 billion trillion, according to a recent estimate).

(The 10,000-year figure cited by Sullivan refers to humanity's development of agriculture and other "rudimentary" technologies; mankind has been capable of sending radio waves and other electromagnetic signals out into the cosmos for just a century or so.)

Can You Ever Really Know an Extraterrestrial?

Knowledge about aliens might be as dangerous as the aliens themselves.

Imagine that you’ve lived your entire life in a small village deep within a continental wilderness. For centuries this community has been isolated from the rest of the world. One day you go out exploring, skirting the edges of known territory. Suddenly, and against all expectations, you stumble across a signpost embedded in the ground. The script is highly unusual, foreign, but the text is clear enough. It says, simply, “We Are Here.”

The question is: What happens next?

There might be happiness and celebration to mark the end of isolation, or the news might be met with a shrug. But human nature suggests it’s more probable that this discovery triggers a chain of events that lead to utter disaster.

Suddenly your safe haven is threatened by an unknown “them.” Your time-tested principles of governance and social order are put under pressure. Gossip, rumor, and conjecture will gnaw away at your stable home. Barricades and armed forces will be raised at enormous cost, crops and repairs will be forgotten. A community will lurch toward its own collapse. Yet there is little more than a half-realized idea represented by this impersonal signpost, a whispered implication that infects the world with its ambiguity.

This tale is not the opening sequence of a B-grade movie, but an allegorical version of what might, just possibly, happen after we solve one of the oldest scientific and philosophical puzzles—whether or not we have neighbors “out there” in the wilderness of the cosmos.

Today, the prospects for finding evidence of life beyond the Earth fall into three well-known categories. First is our exploration of the solar system. Mars is arguably the prime target because it offers a planetary template that, while alien, best parallels certain terrestrial environments—and it is directly accessible. At this very moment we have robotic wheels on Martian regolith and sharp eyes in orbit. More Mars missions are lining up: NASA’s MAVEN should be entering orbit as you read this, as should India’s Mangalyaan craft. And plans are afoot for the InSight seismological probe, Europe’s ExoMars, a Mars 2020 rover, a sample return, as well as the ever-present speculations for sending a human contingent.

But Mars is not the only fruit. The icy moons Enceladus and Europa both exhibit hallmarks of subsurface liquid water. In the case of Europa, a dark ocean with twice the volume of all Earth’s surface oceans conceivably exists in contact with a rocky core—with potential for a deep hydrothermal oasis. Recently discovered geyser-like eruptions into space from both offer hope of a sampling mission to look for signs of life.

In the second category, vastly farther beyond, lie the exoplanets. We now know this population to be enormous—tens of billions of terrestrial-scaled planets ranging from geophysical youth to old age. Some of these worlds could be passable Earth-analogs. The chase is on to measure the atmospheric chemical composition of at least a few of the nearest such worlds, looking for the fingerprints of a biosphere. NASA’s 2018 James Webb Space Telescope and the next-generation of 30-meter diameter Earth-bound astronomical observatories possess the capabilities to make crude measurements of such components.

Third, there is the ongoing search for extraterrestrial intelligence, or SETI. Scouring the celestial radio and optical spectrum for structured, artificial signals—this is the highest-risk, highest-reward effort of all.  Success would not only mean that life exists somewhere else, but that there is recognizable technological intelligence other than ours in the universe.

As an information-obsessed, intensely social species, we’re particularly vulnerable to memes. And not all memes are innocuous.

But the knowledge being sought from all these efforts could change far more than just our scientific understanding. Like a sign in the wilderness, the potential exists for new information to infect our collective consciousness before we’ve realized what’s happening. It is capable of seeding our minds with ideas that take on their own form of life as competitive agents that question the status quo, seeping into our thoughts and behaviors. In fact we already have a label for these types of self-propagating, evolving packets of information—we call them memes.

In 1976, writing in his book The Selfish Gene, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins proposed the term meme to describe something that spreads within a culture; whether it’s a catchy phrase, chairs with four legs, a style of clothing, or an entire belief system. In this sense a meme is a mutating, replicating piece of human cultural evolution—a viral entity.

As an information-obsessed, intensely social species, we’re particularly vulnerable to memes. And not all memes are innocuous—some become toxic when they meet other established memes. Witness the clash between Western mores and conservative Islam.

What if we discovered that we are surrounded by chemically incompatible aliens, and learned that all that we thought was inevitable and optimal about our biology and evolution is merely a fluke? Such a discovery runs counter to our Copernican ideals and upends any tidy rationalization of the deep connections between life and the fundamental constituents of the cosmos.

Or what if we detected an extraterrestrial signal along the lines of “You Are All Going To Die?” Even if this was a translation error, or a misinterpretation of an alien effort at existential camaraderie, our species could be quickly sent into a tailspin, potentially wrecking our civilization as effectively as any physical weapon.

Shooting memes back and forth across the void is asking for trouble.

A message with a more straightforward intent could have equally ruinous effects. It could be a new scientific insight or technological blueprint sent as an item of interstellar trade or détente, but have a destabilizing effect on Earth’s economy. Or a message could contain a philosophical statement interpreted to have religious meaning, triggering conflict and disorder. Even “Is Anyone Out There?” would be problematic—the decision to answer or not could provoke more than just verbal conflict within our species.

We may also agree to reach out, to our own detriment. If we identify the chemical signatures of a biosphere on a nearby exoplanet there will be temptation to send a focused message—a long-shot effort at communication. In our impatience we have already made such attempts. In 1974, for example, the Arecibo radio observatory beamed a meme-laden message of 1,679 binary digits towards a distant globular star cluster. Its contents included a simple string of numbers, a basic blueprint describing DNA, a cartoon human figure, and the layout of our solar system. We’ve also spent decades blaring out our wideband analog radio and TV transmissions before downsizing to digital. With a real target we might even consider sending a probe, especially if we ever develop the means to traverse interstellar space at a substantial fraction of the speed of light.

But these behaviors are terribly dangerous for us if they prompt a response from our cosmic neighbors, as well as for any intelligent natives of these other worlds. Shooting memes back and forth across the void is asking for trouble.

What are we to do? We still want to know whether we’re alone or not. Scientific curiosity and logic surely demands this for any rational entity. It’s a central piece of the puzzle for trying to understand our own origins and nature, our place in the universe.

The answer may lie in building a planetary firewall, a kind of “meme armor” to shield us from damaging knowledge of extraterrestrial life, while still allowing us to learn about the cosmos. It would be an artificial and autonomous construct that would take over the job of SETI, and even the task of exoplanet-hunting astronomers. By providing an algorithmic or physical barrier to the rest of the universe, it would help sift and control the flow of information—rather like an Internet firewall that defends against viruses by scrutinizing the origin and intent of packets of data.

The armor might involve a unilateral ban of private telescopes or radio antenna with enough sensitivity to chance upon extraterrestrial signposts. It could be equipped with its own automated listening posts and telescopes—spoon-feeding sanitized results to its masters. Careful (and hopefully unhackable) firewall programming would sift and sanitize its sightings. The riskiest data could be stored in case of true existential disaster—when an extraterrestrial meme can do no worse damage than is already in progress—a library of last resort for a species, the ultimate example of “In Case Of Fire, Break Glass.”

Such armor could also present a camouflaged state to onlookers; blocking attempts to discern the presence or nature of life on Earth, much like the hidden host addresses used behind today’s computer firewalls. Or—in a far more sinister version—it could seek to actively infect other worlds with destructive memes in order to reduce potential threats to Earth.

Just as our highest security computer systems are physically isolated from the net, a more ambitious hardware-based armor could veil the Earth’s view of the universe. A giant high-tech Faraday cage made with pixel-like optical elements to control precisely what electromagnetic radiation gets through—an informational version of the air-filtration and containment of a biohazard lab. More drastic still would be to abandon our meme-vulnerable planet altogether. We’d build a vast Dyson sphere—that staple of futurology and sci-fi—and live on the inside facing our star, sealed away from the infectious cosmos.

These are obviously hugely speculative, if not fanciful ideas. Perhaps our form of intelligence actually has a degree of natural immunity to extraterrestrial meme infection. After all, since grasping the concept that we inhabit one microscopic piece of an immense universe with no physical center, our species has not actually self-destructed—at least not yet. Most importantly, I don’t think we should be dissuaded from seeking out the most fecund places in the cosmos, and we’re unlikely to want to ever shield ourselves from the glory of the celestial skies.

But, as the adage goes, we should be careful what we wish for.

I recorded Mercury moving between Earth and our sun today. It was an accident. I was looking for UFOs and there it was, a big black dot. Kinda amazing how its so close to the sun and still remains so dark. I thought it would light up its surface more along its edges, but it gave us nothing. Still, its a beautiful sight.

Tripje naar Mars duurt dankzij nieuwe aandrijving nog maar 30 minuten

In dertig minuten naar Mars. Het klinkt te mooi om waar te zijn. Maar wetenschappers achten het mogelijk. En wel met een nieuwe aandrijving waar momenteel hard aan wordt gewerkt.

Als mensheid hebben we de afgelopen decennia – want zolang doen we nog niet aan ruimtevaart tenslotte – best wat gepresteerd. Er rijden robots rond op Mars, mensen bezochten de maan, er draait een ruimtesonde rond komeet 67P/C-G en zo kunnen we nog wel een tijdje doorgaan. Maar als we puur kijken naar de afstanden die de mensheid heeft afgelegd, hebben we het helemaal niet zo ver geschopt. Volgens de laatste berichten zijn we er nog niet eens in geslaagd om ons eigen zonnestelsel te verlaten: hoewel ruimtesonde Voyager 1 al meer dan 45 jaar onderweg is, zou deze zich nog altijd niet in de interstellaire ruimte bevinden.

Grote afstanden
Het verlangen om veel grotere afstanden af te leggen en veel verder gelegen bestemmingen te verkennen, is er. Maar de technologie om daar snel te komen, ontbreekt. Het heelal is groot en uitgestrekt. Om daar een goed beeld van te krijgen: een enkele reis naar Mars duurt met de huidige technologie al snel zo’n 250 dagen. En een reis naar de dichtstbijzijnde ster – die zo’n 4,2 lichtjaar van ons verwijderd is – zou met de huidige technologie duizenden jaren duren.

Bijna net zo snel als het licht
Het moge duidelijk zijn: als we ooit werkelijk het heelal willen gaan verkennen, zullen we met een nieuwe aandrijving moeten komen die ons in staat stelt om in korte tijd heel grote afstanden af te leggen. Bij voorkeur een aandrijving die het mogelijk maakt om te reizen met een snelheid die enigszins in de buurt komt van de snelheid van het licht (sneller reizen dan het licht is volgens de speciale relativiteitstheorie sowieso onmogelijk). Het klinkt als sciencefiction. Maar dat is het dankzij een aantal nieuwe ontwikkelingen niet langer. De technologie om te reizen met een snelheid die ongeveer drie keer kleiner is dan de snelheid van het licht is reeds aanwezig en kan de ruimtevaart op z’n kop gaan zetten, zo stellen wetenschappers. “Tien jaar geleden was wat wij voorstellen nog pure fantasie,” zo schrijft Philip Lubin, verbonden aan de University of California, Santa Barbara in dit paper. “Het is niet langer fantasie.”

Zeilen en lasers
Waar heeft hij het over? Over een aandrijving die mede mogelijk gemaakt wordt door licht, afkomstig van lasers. Hij duidt de aanpak aan als ‘photonic propulsion‘. Een ruimtevaartuig dat op deze manier wordt aangedreven, zal uitgerust worden met grote zeilen. Lasers vuren vervolgens – vanuit een baan rond de aarde – fotonen (lichtdeeltjes) op deze zeilen af. Deze lichtdeeltjes hebben geen massa, maar wel energie en impuls. Wanneer de lichtdeeltjes door het zeil gereflecteerd worden, staan ze een kleine hoeveelheid kinetische energie af. Het mooie aan de ruimte is dat het ruimtevaartuig helemaal geen weerstand ondervindt en als lichtdeeltjes het blijven trakteren op kinetische energie, kan het ruimtevaartuig heel geleidelijk uiteindelijk een snelheid bereiken die ongeveer net zo groot is als een derde van de snelheid van het licht.

Dertig minuten
In theorie zou een klein ruimtevaartuig (dat ongeveer 100 kilo weegt) met behulp van deze aandrijving in drie dagen op Mars kunnen arriveren. In theorie kan elk ruimtevaartuig – ongeacht de massa – op deze manier worden aangedreven. Maar hoe groter (en zwaarder) een ruimtevaartuig is, hoe langer de reis duurt. In eerste instantie ziet Lubin – met het oog op interstellaire missies – dan ook het meest in wat kleinere ruimtevaartuigjes. Als het systeem helemaal doorontwikkeld is en de lasers maximaal kunnen worden benut, kunnen piepkleine ruimtevaartuigjes het absurd ver schoppen. “Een wafeldun ruimtevaartuig met een 1 meter groot zeil kan in 10 minuten tijd 26 procent van de snelheid van het licht bereiken, Mars in 30 minuten bereiken, Voyager 1 in minder dan drie dagen passeren (…) en Alpha Centauri in zo’n twintig jaar bereiken.”

Waar zit de rem?
Overigens is deze aandrijving niet zo geschikt om een ruimtevaartuig in een baan rond bijvoorbeeld de dichtstbijzijnde ster te brengen. Er is namelijk één probleem: het ruimtevaartuig kan heel moeilijk tot stilstand worden gebracht. In eerste instantie zullen ruimtevaartuigen die op deze manier worden aangedreven dan ook enkel langs objecten in de ruimte kunnen scheren. Maar goed, dat mag de pret niet drukken. New Horizons scheerde ook alleen maar langs Pluto en kijk wat dat opgeleverd heeft!

Hoewel de technologie volgens Lubin voorhanden is, moet er nog wel wat werk verzet worden alvorens de eerste ruimtevaartuigen met behulp van lichtdeeltjes de interstellaire ruimte gaan verkennen. Maar Lubin lijkt vastberaden deze vorm van aandrijving werkelijkheid te laten worden. En ook NASA ziet wel iets in het idee. De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie gaf Lubin vorig jaar een beurs om nader onderzoek te doen. Zou het dan zomaar het begin zijn van een nieuw tijdperk in de ruimtevaart? Een tijdperk waarin we kleine ruimtevaartuigjes naar de hoeken van ons zonnestelsel en misschien zelfs wel naar plekken daarbuiten sturen? Als het aan Lubin ligt wel. “Het is tijd om te beginnen aan deze onvermijdelijke reis ver van huis.”

Where Did Planet Nine Come From?

It's unclear whether Planet Nine exists, but astronomers are already digging into the mystery of the hypothetical world's birth.

In January, Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena announced that they had inferred the existence of Planet Nine based on the strange orbits of a half dozen small bodies in the Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune.

Planet Nine, Batygin and Brown suggested, is perhaps 10 times more massive than Earth and orbits the sun at an average distance of about 700 astronomical units (AU). (One AU is the Earth-sun distance — 93 million miles, or 150 million kilometers.) [The Evidence for Planet Nine in Pictures]

Some astronomers are now scanning the sky in an attempt to find the putative planet, while others are tackling another mystery: How did Planet Nine come to be?

There are a number of possible origin stories, researchers say. For example, Planet Nine may be a former exoplanet that was captured by our solar system's gravity.

This scenario appears to be far-fetched, however. Gongjie Li and Fred Adams, both of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, performed computer simulations to estimate the odds that Planet Nine was plucked from a passing star system or nabbed as a formerly free-floating "rogue planet." In both cases, the odds are less than 2 percent, the researchers report in a new study.

So it's likely that Planet Nine is native to our solar system. But did it form in its present location, or begin life much closer to the sun and then get booted into the outer solar system by a gravitational interaction of some kind?

Both scenarios are possible, Scott Kenyon, of the CfA, and Benjamin Bromley, of the University of Utah, report in two new studies of their own, which are also based on computer modeling work.  

Given the right initial conditions, Planet Nine could have coalesced near where it's now thought to lie within 1 billion to 2 billion years of the solar system's birth, Kenyon and Bromley found. But their simulations also give credence to the idea that interactions with Jupiter and Saturn kicked Planet Nine out from a formerly tighter orbit.

"Think of it like pushing a kid on a swing: If you give them a shove at the right time, over and over, they'll go higher and higher," Kenyon said in a statement, adding that this scenario is "the simplest solution."

The gravitational boot, if it occurred, didn't have to come from a fellow planet. In their paper, Li and Adams also considered the possibility that Planet Nine was tugged outward by one of the sun's stellar neighbors. But their simulations pegged the probability of this scenario at 10 percent at best, suggesting that, in most cases, a passing star would have kicked Planet Nine out of our solar system completely.

So the fog of mystery surrounding Planet Nine remains thick. But that fog could clear someday, provided that this mysterious world actually exists — and astronomers are able to get a decent look at it.

"The nice thing about these scenarios is that they're observationally testable," Kenyon said. "A scattered gas giant will look like a cold Neptune, while a planet that formed in place will resemble a giant Pluto with no gas."

The study by Li and Adams has been accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal Letters. Kenyon and Bromley have submitted their two papers to The Astrophysical Journal.

LIVE STREAM: Watch Mercury Transit the Sun

In a rare event that only happens about 13 times a century, Mercury will be crossing in front of the sun this morning, leaving a tiny black spot in front of the sun. The last time this happened was in 2006. Because of Mercury’s small size, you’ll need a special telescope or very high-powered binoculars with solar filters to see the event. You never want to look directly into the sun without special eyewear, so any telescope or binoculars you use will need special-coated glass or Mylar to protect against the sun. But with all the livestreams of the event available, you won’t even need to leave your computer if you don’t want to.

Here’s what you need to know.

When the Mercury Transit Will Occur

Mercury’s transit across the sun will begin just after 7 a.m. Eastern on Monday morning. The tiny planet will reach about midway across the sun around 10:47 a.m. Eastern and it will finish its transit around 2:47 p.m. Eastern, according to Space.com. The Eastern United States will be able to see Mercury for the entire 7+ hours. The western U.S. will be able to see the transit after sunrise, although it will already be underway at that time.

PROBABLY WE HAVE NOT (BEEN) ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE

Are we alone in the universe? This is a question that every enthusiast scientific poses himself and fails to respond. The reply to this question have taken great minds, and his answer (as well as the history of the Universe) have occupied philosophers since ancient times.

However, in response to the famous “Where is everybody?” Question Enrico Fermi still do not have. We have only guesses, calculations of odds and assumptions. Around them engaged and scientists Adam Frank and Woodruff Sullivan, from the University of Rochester, who using and Exchanging the famous Drejkova equation came to the realization that life to our present level of civilization progress probably already existed somewhere in space and probably disappeared or is so far we will never be able to communicate the.

They calculated the odds on what were / are the chances of people with this unique civilization, and it turns out that they are quite conservative: less than one in 10 billion trilliards. According to them it means life to our level of development occurred at least 10 billion times throughout cosmic history (according to the estimated number of stars and planets in the universe)!

Ten billion civilizations ?! Well, where are they? It still we can not answer this, but given the size of the universe and duration (14 billion years) is not unusual to have hundreds of advanced civilizations that are so far away that no longer able to send a communication to us and billions of others to have occurred ever in the history and in the meantime disappeared.

It would be a great lesson for humanity. Namely, if we allow to perish because of the inability to keep in life and not to kill each other, human induced disasters, it would be really big tragedy of life in the universe generally.

Does Rh Negative Blood Type Equal Alien Heritage?

Why does the human species have so many different blood types and Rh values when we supposedly came from 'Adam and Eve'? The biblical story of evolution no longer works as a viable explanation for evolution. Now what? Was our species genetically manipulated or were we seeded here from other star systems by aliens or, more likely, our galactic star families?

The blood of the 'gods'

Are you an Rh Negative blood type? If so you could be a decendent of the ancient astronauts themselves!

About a year and a half ago my sister Bonnie and I were discussing some of the unusual characteristics of our family. Bonnie had a problem with infants haemolytic disease. She has 0 negative blood. She has written a book including this problem called "The Deux" by Venus Thaddeus.

One of the questions we asked was why does this haemolytic disease occur? Why, along with the Rh negative blood does our family have such a high IQ (135-140 average). Why so many psychic experiences? Why this urge to ask "why?" Why the early maturity or the large head and eyes? Why have we always felt we were "different" from other people? And so many other things to set us apart. 

We were raised in the church, but we never received answers to the questions we asked. Why doesn't anyone else ask these same questions? We are not satisfied with the answer "just because". Are there others out there who ask the same questions? Then we heard about the possibility of the ancient astronauts and the pieces started to fall into place.

For the past decade many people have been working to prove that the earth has been visited by extraterrestrial beings. 

Who are these visitors? Why did they come? Why did they leave? Did they leave? 

If earth was visited in the ancient past, are there any descendants of these visitors? If all mankind are not descendants of these visitors, which ones are? Who are the "Children of Israel?" Why was their seed blessed? 

Why were they told not to inter-marry with other people and to circumcise their sons for identification? Why were they told to preserve their geneology? Where did Adam and Eve's sons go to get their wives, if they were the only "humans" on earth?

Many scientists believe that modern man evolved from ape-like primates. They have much proof to back up their theories, including modern blood analysis and comparative studies between modern man and lower anthripoids, such as the chimpanzee and the Rhesus monkey.

It has been proven that the majority of mankind (85%) has a blood factor common with the rhesus monkey. This is called rhesus positive blood. Usually shortened to Rh positive. This factor is completely independent from the A, B, 0 blood types.

In the study of genetics, we find that we can only inherit what our ancestors had except in the case of mutation. We can have any of numerous combinations of traits inherited from all our ancestors. Nothing more and nothing less. 

Therefore, if man and ape evolved from a common ancestor, their blood would have evolved the same way. Blood factors are transmitted with much more exactitude than any other characteristic. It would seem that modern man and rhesus monkey may have had a common ancestor sometime in the ancient past. 

All other earthly primates also have this Rh factor. But this leaves out the people who are Rh negative. If all mankind evolved from the same ancestor their blood would be compatible. Where did the Rh negatives come from? If they are not the descendants of prehistoric man, could they be the descendants of the ancient astronauts?

All animals and other living creatures known to man can breed with any other of their species. Relative size and color makes no difference. Why does infant's haemolytic disease occur in humans if all humans are the same species? 

Haemolytic disease is the allergic reaction that occurs when an Rh negative mother is carrying a Rh positive child. Her blood builds up antibodies to destroy an ALIEN substance (the same way it would a virus), thereby destroying the infant. 

Why would a mother's body reject her own offspring? 

Nowhere else in nature does this occur naturally. This same problem does occur in mules - a cross between a horse and donkey. This fact alone points to the distinct possibility of a cross-breeding between two similar but genetically different species.  

No one has tried to explain where the Rh negative people came from. Most, familiar with blood factors, admit that these people must at least be a mutation if not descendants of a different ancestor.

If we are a mutation, what caused the mutation? Why does it continue with the exact characteristics? Why does it so violently reject the Rh factor, if it was in their own ancestry? Who was this ancestor? 

Difficulties in determining ethnology are largely overcome by the use of blood group data, for they are a single gene characteristic and not affected by the environment. 

The Basque people of Spain and France have the highest percentage of Rh negative blood. About 30% have (rr) Rh negative and about 60% carry one (r) negative gene.

The average among most people is only 157%-Rh negative, while some groups have very little. The Oriental Jews of Israel, also have a high percent Rh negative, although most other Oriental people have only about 1% Rh negative. 

The Samaritans and the Black Cochin Jew also have a high percentage of Rh negative blood, although again the Rh negative blood is rare among most black people.

Could the Basque people be one of these colonies? Or could it have been the original colony on earth? The origin of the Basques is unknown. Their language is unlike any other European language. 

Some believe that Basque was the original language of the book of Genesis. Some believe it was the original language of the world and possibly of the creator.

Genesis 6:2 "The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and took them wives, all of which they chose." Who were the children of these marriages? Genesis 6:4 "God came into the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, and the same became mighty of old." 

From the King James Bible dictionary we find: "menchildren - men of Israel, male children of God, not children of man - Ex. 34:23." 

Ex. 34:7 states "The iniquity of the father will be unto the children unto the fourth generation."

It is plain that something is inherited, could it be the blood?

Blood is mentioned more often than any other word in the Bible, except God. These two words you will find on almost every page, blood and God! (The blood of the Gods?) This message has been written for thousands of years. There is a connection between the blood and the Gods.

The American Indians had the tradition of making good friends, "blood brothers", if they thought they were worthy. Could this tradition have been for a reason? Could they have actually been checking to see if they were blood brothers (the same type blood)? 

The clumping (aggulation) that occurs when Rh positive and Rh negative blood are mixed is visible to the naked eye. 

Could they have been told, by their ancestors, that their blood was different from that of the rest of mankind except for their brothers and sisters, from other tribes, scattered throughout the earth. Indian tradition declares that their ancestors were of cosmic origin. The Indian totem pole is actually a family genealogy.

Why all this preoccupation with genealogy among different people scattered throughout the earth? No other animal on earth has this preoccupation with ancestry. Where did this tradition come from? 

People scattered throughout the earth, who have had no-known contact with each other all simultaneously got the urge to chart their family tree. Why? 

How important could this have been to primitive cave men? Struggling to survive, to chart their genealogy? They had no understanding of modern genetics and inheritance. So why should they preserve their genealogy? 

Were they told, by the ancient astronauts, to preserve their heritage, until a future date when they would return and it would be understood? Until a time, like now, when their descendent would be able to understand the message they were leaving.

Although they probably didn't realize the importance of preserving their genealogy, they were told that future generations would understand. Are we that future generation? Was there a message left for us to understand? Do we have the courage to look for the answer?

Do we really want to know or would we rather keep our heads buried in the sand? What we don't know will still affect us. You will not see unless you look. Only through knowledge will we find truth.

I have searched, in vain, for scientific proof that the Rh negative blood was a natural earthly occurrence. Instead I have found proof that the Rh negative had not evolved on earth in the natural course of events.

For many years people have been searching for the wrong thing. Could the true "missing link" actually be man himself? The unknown link between earth and the stars - hybrid man.

Man may be the missing link between primate and extraterrestrial. It seems inconceivable to me that those working on the evolution theory have overlooked this possibility. 

How can they state, that these people are lacking a factor contained in all other earthly primates, including the naked ape, and not ask why? What other characteristics are common among these people that are uncommon to other people? Is there a real difference other than just a different blood?

A very good comparative study between man and the primates can be found in Max Flindt's book "Mankind, Child of the Stars," Fawcett publisher, Books 1 and 2. 

He has documented many of the characteristics we may have received from our cosmic ancestors. It does show quite conclusively that mankind is a hybrid between our cosmic ancestor and our earth ancestor. 

I have merely carried this idea to its logical conclusion. If mankind is a hybrid descendant of the ancient' astronauts, surely there would be some, appearing periodically, who would be genetically very similar to them. Would this not include their psychic powers? Could the great sleeping prophet,Edgar Cayce, have been one of these? Could Jesus Christ also have been one of these? 

A true descendant of the ancient astronauts. If he was a true genetic duplicate of them he would also have their powers and possibly their knowledge. I cannot say whether he was born with this knowledge or whether he established psychic communication with our cosmic family, but it is plain that he had powers far beyond those of mortal man. 

Could he have been an example of what the ancient astronauts were like? Jesus stated that the Father and him were one. Could he have actually meant that literally? 

He may have been an exact duplicate of his (our) ancient Father. He may have even been a clone of the cosmonauts. Everyone knows the story of his virgin birth and the heavenly intervention. Could this have been implanting a clone into Mary's sterilized egg? Could the whole egg have actually been an implant?

The Rh negative blood, which appears not to have originated on earth, may prove to be a major factor in proving mankind is a hybrid. It is not the whole answer but it is a key for unlocking the genetic puzzle of our heritage. 

Tissue factors will also prove to be quite revealing. Scientists are now able to determine the tissue factors of 5,000 year old mummies. Could some of these mummies have been the ancient astronauts? 

Why were these mummies preserved well enough for us to analyze their blood and tissue factors? Could there be a message in the genetic factors of the mummies themselves? 

There is an interesting fact found in the book "X-Raying the Pharaohs" by James Harris and Kent Weeks, 1973 (Scribners). Upon x-raying the tomb of Makare, high priestess of Ammon, it was found that the infant buried with her labeled Prince Moutenihet was actually a female hamadryas baboon. 

An examination of Makare showed she had given birth shortly before dying. Could she have given birth to the baboon found with her? Why else would it have been buried with her? A genetic throwback?

My research has shown that the majority of those with psychic powers also have Rh negative blood. Most psychic and faith healers also have this blood. Strangely enough, many of those doing research into the ancient astronaut theory and other phenomena also have Rh negative blood.

Erich von Daniken has Rh negative blood and a thirst for the truth. Brad Steiger also has Rh negative blood. His new book "Gods of Aquarius" considers this possibility. Robert Antone Wilson, author of "Illuminus", also has this blood. There are many others, too numerous to list here.

Why is there such a large percentage of negative in these unusual fields? Could we have a vague memory of what we are looking for? It has been said that a question is not asked until the answer is known.

There are about 5,000 known blood factors and all of these must contribute to the complete picture. But the Rh negative blood is the place to start our search.

A comparative analysis is now being done and we need your help. If you are reading this, you must be one of the lost children of Israel. Anyone else would not have read this far.

Spooky Quantum Action Might Hold the Universe Together

Brian Swingle was a graduate student studying the physics of matter at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology when he decided to take a few classes in string theory to round out his education—“because, why not?” he recalled—although he initially paid little heed to the concepts he encountered in those classes. But as he delved deeper, he began to see unexpected similarities between his own work, in which he used so-called tensor networks to predict the properties of exotic materials, and string theory’s approach to black-hole physics and quantum gravity. “I realized there was something profound going on,” he said.

Tensors crop up all over physics—they’re simply mathematical objects that can represent multiple numbers at the same time. For example, a velocity vector is a simple tensor: It captures values for both the speed and the direction of motion. More complicated tensors, linked together into networks, can be used to simplify calculations for complex systems made of many different interacting parts—including the intricate interactions of the vast numbers of subatomic particles that make up matter.

Swingle is one of a growing number of physicists who see the value in adapting tensor networks to cosmology. Among other benefits, it could help resolve an ongoing debate about the nature of space-time itself. According toJohn Preskill, the Richard P. Feynman professor of theoretical physics at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, many physicists have suspected a deep connection between quantum entanglement—the “spooky action at a distance” that so vexed Albert Einstein—and space-time geometry at the smallest scales since the physicist John Wheeler first described the latter as a bubbly, frothy foam six decades ago. “If you probe geometry at scales comparable to the Planck scale” — the shortest possible distance—“it looks less and less like space-time,” said Preskill. “It’s not really geometry anymore. It’s something else, an emergent thing [that arises] from something more fundamental.”

Physicists continue to wrestle with the knotty problem of what this more fundamental picture might be, but they strongly suspect that it is related to quantum information. “When we talk about information being encoded, [we mean that] we can split a system into parts, and there is some correlation among the parts so I can learn something about one part by observing another part,” said Preskill. This is the essence of entanglement.

It is common to speak of a “fabric” of space-time, a metaphor that evokes the concept of weaving individual threads together to form a smooth, continuous whole. That thread is fundamentally quantum. “Entanglement is the fabric of space-time,” said Swingle, who is now a researcher at Stanford University. “It’s the thread that binds the system together, that makes the collective properties different from the individual properties. But to really see the interesting collective behavior, you need to understand how that entanglement is distributed.”

Tensor networks provide a mathematical tool capable of doing just that. In this view, space-time arises out of a series of interlinked nodes in a complex network, with individual morsels of quantum information fitted together like Legos. Entanglement is the glue that holds the network together. If we want to understand space-time, we must first think geometrically about entanglement, since that is how information is encoded between the immense number of interacting nodes in the system.

Many Bodies, One Network

It is no easy feat to model a complex quantum system; even doing so for a classical system with more than two interacting parts poses a challenge. When Isaac Newton published his Principia in 1687, one of the many topics he examined became known as the “three-body problem.” It is a relatively simple matter to calculate the movement of two objects, such as the Earth and the sun, taking into account the effects of their mutual gravitational attraction. However, adding a third body, like the moon, turns a relatively straightforward problem with an exact solution into one that is inherently chaotic, where long-term predictions require powerful computers to simulate an approximation of the system’s evolution. In general, the more objects in the system, the more difficult the calculation, and that difficulty increases linearly, or nearly so—at least in classical physics.

Now imagine a quantum system with many billions of atoms, all of which interact with each other according to complicated quantum equations. At that scale, the difficulty appears to increase exponentially with the number of particles in the system, so a brute-force approach to calculation just won’t work.

Consider a lump of gold. It is comprised of many billions of atoms, all of which interact with one another. From those interactions emerge the various classical properties of the metal, such as color, strength or conductivity. “Atoms are tiny little quantum mechanical things, and you put atoms together and new and wonderful things happen,” said Swingle. But at this scale, the rules of quantum mechanics apply. Physicists need to precisely calculate the wave function of that lump of gold, which describes the state of the system. And that wave function is a many-headed hydra of exponential complexity.

Even if your lump of gold has just 100 atoms, each with a quantum “spin” that can be either up or down, the total number of possible states totals 2¹⁰⁰, or a million trillion trillion. With every added atom the problem grows exponentially worse. (And worse still if you care to describe anything in addition to the atomic spins, which any realistic model would.) “If you take the entire visible universe and fill it up with our best storage material, the best hard drive money can buy, you could only store the state of about 300 spins,” said Swingle. “So this information is there, but it’s not all physical. No one has ever measured all these numbers.”

Tensor networks enable physicists to compress all the information contained within the wave function and focus on just those properties physicists can measure in experiments: how much a given material bends light, for example, or how much it absorbs sound, or how well it conducts electricity. A tensor is a “black box” of sorts that takes in one collection of numbers and spits out a different one. So it is possible to plug in a simple wave function — such as that of many non-interacting electrons, each in its lowest-energy state — and run tensors upon the system over and over, until the process produces a wave function for a large, complicated system, like the billions of interacting atoms in a lump of gold. The result is a straightforward diagram that represents this complicated lump of gold, an innovation much like the development of Feynman diagrams in the mid-20th century, which simplified how physicists represent particle interactions. A tensor network has a geometry, just like space-time.

The key to achieving this simplification is a principle called “locality.” Any given electron only interacts with its nearest neighboring electrons. Entangling each of many electrons with its neighbors produces a series of “nodes” in the network. Those nodes are the tensors, and entanglement links them together. All those interconnected nodes make up the network. A complex calculation thus becomes easier to visualize. Sometimes it even reduces to a much simpler counting problem.

There are many different types of tensor networks, but among the most useful is the one known by the acronym MERA (multiscale entanglement renormalization ansatz). Here’s how it works in principle: Imagine a one-dimensional line of electrons. Replace the eight individual electrons — designated A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H — with fundamental units of quantum information (qubits), and entangle them with their nearest neighbors to form links. A entangles with B, C entangles with D, E entangles with F, and G entangles with H. This produces a higher level in the network. Now entangle AB with CD, and EF with GH, to get the next level in the network. Finally, ABCD entangles with EFGH to form the highest layer. “In a way, we could say that one uses entanglement to build up the many-body wave function,”Román Orús, a physicist at Johannes Gutenberg University in Germany, observed in a paper last year.

Why are some physicists so excited about the potential for tensor networks—especially MERA—to illuminate a path to quantum gravity? Because the networks demonstrate how a single geometric structure can emerge from complicated interactions between many objects. And Swingle (among others) hopes to make use of this emergent geometry by showing how it can explain the mechanism by which a smooth, continuous space-time can emerge from discrete bits of quantum information.

Space-Time’s Boundaries

Condensed-matter physicists inadvertently found an emergent extra dimension when they developed tensor networks: the technique yields a two-dimensional system out of one dimension. Meanwhile, gravity theorists were subtracting a dimension—going from three to two—with the development of what’s known as the holographic principle. The two concepts might connect to form a more sophisticated understanding of space-time.

In the 1970s, a physicist named Jacob Bekenstein showed that the information about a black hole’s interior is encoded in its two-dimensional surface area (the “boundary”) rather than within its three-dimensional volume (the “bulk”). Twenty years later, Leonard Susskind and Gerard ’t Hooft extended this notion to the entire universe, likening it to a hologram: Our three-dimensional universe in all its glory emerges from a two-dimensional “source code.” In 1997, Juan Maldacena found a concrete example of holography in action, demonstrating that a toy model describing a flat space without gravity is equivalent to a description of a saddle-shaped space with gravity. This connection is what physicists call a “duality.”

Mark Van Raamsdonk, a string theorist at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, likens the holographic concept to a two-dimensional computer chip that contains the code for creating the three-dimensional virtual world of a video game. We live within that 3-D game space. In one sense, our space is illusory, an ephemeral image projected into thin air. But as Van Raamsdonk emphasizes, “There’s still an actual physical thing in your computer that stores all the information.”

The idea has gained broad acceptance among theoretical physicists, but they still grapple with the problem of precisely how a lower dimension would store information about the geometry of space-time. The sticking point is that our metaphorical memory chip has to be a kind of quantum computer, where the traditional zeros and ones used to encode information are replaced with qubits capable of being zeros, ones and everything in between simultaneously. Those qubits must be connected via entanglement — whereby the state of one qubit is determined by the state of its neighbor — before any realistic 3-D world can be encoded.

Similarly, entanglement seems to be fundamental to the existence of space-time. This was the conclusion reached by a pair of postdocs in 2006: Shinsei Ryu (now at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign) and Tadashi Takayanagi (now at Kyoto University), who shared the 2015 New Horizons in Physics prize for this work. “The idea was that the way that [the geometry of] space-time is encoded has a lot to do with how the different parts of this memory chip are entangled with each other,” Van Raamsdonk explained.

Inspired by their work, as well as by a subsequent paper of Maldacena’s, in 2010 Van Raamsdonk proposed a thought experiment to demonstrate the critical role of entanglement in the formation of space-time, pondering what would happen if one cut the memory chip in two and then removed the entanglement between qubits in opposite halves. He found that space-time begins to tear itself apart, in much the same way that stretching a wad of gum by both ends yields a pinched-looking point in the center as the two halves move farther apart. Continuing to split that memory chip into smaller and smaller pieces unravels space-time until only tiny individual fragments remain that have no connection to one another. “If you take away the entanglement, your space-time just falls apart,” said Van Raamsdonk. Similarly, “if you wanted to build up a space-time, you’d want to start entangling [qubits] together in particular ways.”

Combine those insights with Swingle’s work connecting the entangled structure of space-time and the holographic principle to tensor networks, and another crucial piece of the puzzle snaps into place. Curved space-times emerge quite naturally from entanglement in tensor networks via holography. “Space-time is a geometrical representation of this quantum information,” said Van Raamsdonk.

And what does that geometry look like? In the case of Maldacena’s saddle-shaped space-time, it looks like one of M.C. Escher’s Circle Limit figures from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Escher had long been interested in order and symmetry, incorporating those mathematical concepts into his art ever since 1936 when he visited the Alhambra in Spain, where he found inspiration in the repeating tiling patterns typical of Moorish architecture, known as tessellation.

His Circle Limit woodcuts are illustrations of hyperbolic geometries: negatively curved spaces represented in two dimensions as a distorted disk, much the way flattening a globe into a two-dimensional map of the Earth distorts the continents. For instance, Circle Limit IV (Heaven and Hell)features many repeating figures of angels and demons. In a true hyperbolic space, all the figures would be the same size, but in Escher’s two-dimensional representation, those near the edge appear smaller and more pinched than the figures in the center. A diagram of a tensor network also bears a striking resemblance to the Circle Limit series, a visual manifestation of the deep connection Swingle noticed when he took that fateful string theory class.

To date, tensor analysis has been limited to models of space-time, like Maldacena’s, that don’t describe the universe we inhabit—a non-saddle-shaped universe whose expansion is accelerating. Physicists can only translate between dual models in a few special cases. Ideally, they would like to have a universal dictionary. And they would like to be able to derive that dictionary directly, rather than make close approximations. “We’re in a funny situation with these dualities, because everyone seems to agree that it’s important, but nobody knows how to derive them,” said Preskill. “Maybe the tensor-network approach will make it possible to go further. I think it would be a sign of progress if we can say — even with just a toy model—‘Aha! Here is the derivation of the dictionary!’ That would be a strong hint that we are onto something.”

Over the past year, Swingle and Van Raamsdonk have collaborated to move their respective work in this area beyond a static picture of space-time to explore its dynamics: how space-time changes over time, and how it curves in response to these changes. Thus far, they have managed to derive Einstein’s equations, specifically the equivalence principle—evidence that the dynamics of space-time, as well as its geometry, emerge from entangled qubits. Scientists have found an Alien code in our DNA: Ancient Engineers

According to mainstream scientists: Alien code found in our DNA. Extraterrestrial beings created our species.

Researchers who worked for 13 years in the Human Genome Project indicate that they came across an amazing scientific discovery: They believe that the so-called 97% of non-coding sequences in the human DNA is nothing less than the genetic code of extraterrestrial life forms. Originally referred to as “Junk DNA” its functioned remained a mystery for researchers. Now researchers believe that our DNA is extraterrestrial in origin.

After extensive analysis with the help of other researchers in diverse fields such as mathematics, chemistry and programming, Maxim A. Makukov of the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute have ventured out and asked if there is a possibility that, what we call “junk DNA” is actually some sort of extraterrestrial code, created by an “Alien” programmer.

According to researchers from Kazakhstan, “Our hypothesis is that a more advanced extraterrestrial civilization was engaged in creating new life and planting it on various planets. Earth is just one of them.”
The researchers indicate that “What we see in our DNA is a program consisting of two versions, a giant structured code and a simple or basic code.”

The team of researchers believe for a fact that the first part of our DNA code was not written on Earth and according to them it is verifiable. Secondly and most importantly, genes alone are not enough to explain the evolution/abrupt evolution process and there must be something more in ‘the game’.

According to Makukov “Sooner or later,” “we have to accept the fact that all life on Earth carries the genetic code of our extraterrestrial cousins and that evolution is not what we think it is.”

The implications of these scientific findings reinforce claims by other individuals and observers that claim to have had contact with aliens that look like humans. Human-like aliens could have provided some of the genetic material necessary for human evolution.

Researchers in Kazakhstan believe that the human DNA was encoded with an alien signal for an ancient extraterrestrial civilization, and they refer to it as “Biological SETI”. The mathematical code in the human DNA can not be explained by evolution. Basically, we are living and breathing holders of some sort of alien message that can be used,in a much more efficient way then using Radio-signals, to search for Extraterrestrial life.

Once the code had been set, it would remain unchanged in cosmological time-scales, in fact, researchers believe that our DNA is the most durable “construction” known, and that is why it represents an exceptionally reliable and intelligent storage for an alien signature, according to an article in the journal Icaurs.

Once the genome is appropriately rewritten the new code with a signature will stay frozen in the cell and its progeny, which might then be delivered through space and time.”

Scientists believe that the human DNA is arranged in such a precise way that it reveals a “set of arithmetic patterns and ideographic symbolic language”. These studies have led scientists to believe that we were literally invented “outside of Earth” several billions of years ago.

These ideas or beliefs are anything but accepted in the scientific community. Yet these studies have proven what some researchers have talked about for decades, that evolution could not have happened on its own, and that there is something extraterrestrial to our entire species. Is our entire history wrong?

One mystery that would remain as THE GREAT QUESTION is, if extraterrestrial beings did in fact create the human race and life on planet Earth, then “who” or “what” created these extraterrestrial beings?

Strange UFO Turns Off Wind Turbines in Majdan, Poland (Video)

A strange event happened near a small village of Majdan in the upper region of Lublin in Poland when an unknown spherical object flew over a wind park.

According to the witness who recorded the event on April 17, 2016, the object came from the east. At the moment it hovered above two wind turbines, the propellers just stopped turning around, while the wind turbines in the background continued to run.

After the object disappeared, the propellers started to turn around again.

This is something that just came to light today thanks to Youtube UFO researchSonofmabarker. He found out that Titanium (Ti) was in high abundance in the Baltic Sea UFO and that it was in higher concentration that other most elements.  Titanium seems like a great material to make a UFO out of since its stronger than steel and lighter. Not to mention that titanium is used today to make aerospace vehicles, missiles and jet engines, because it has a high heat resistance. Sounds to me that Sonofmabarker found the smoking gun...the evidence to prove that this is a UFO.

C’est dans le secret d’un laboratoire du Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (Allemagne), qu’une équipe de chercheurs a réussi à observer des effets d’optique non linéaire, partant d’une unique molécule médiatrice et de faisceaux de lumière – des faisceaux laser plus exactement – composés de quelques photons seulement. En d’autres mots, ces chercheurs sont parvenus à influencer et à modifier le parcours d’un faisceau lumineux à l’aide d’une seule molécule organique, soigneusement sélectionnée, et d’une poignée de photons. Une première mondiale !

Pour mieux comprendre la prouesse, il est peut-être utile de rappeler que, selon les lois de la physique, les faisceaux lumineux s’entrecroisent toujours sans heurts ni étincelles. C’est du moins le cas dans le monde classique dit de l’optique linéaire. De quoi rendre totalement impossible les combats au sabre laser que se livrent les chevaliers Jedi dans la saga Star Wars.

Dans le monde de l’optique non linéaire cependant, un support matériel peut se transformer en médiateur entre les photons, de façon à ce qu’un faisceau laser puisse agir sur un autre faisceau laser. Utiliser des photons, plutôt que des électrons, pour transmettre les informations au cœur de nos systèmes informatiques, pourrait ainsi aider à développer des ordinateurs toujours plus puissants et compacts. De plus, rendre l’optique non linéaire accessible permettrait d’envisager de concevoir les réseaux quantiques nanoscopiques dont rêvent certains.

Des molécules (petites sphères rouges) sont intégrées dans une matrice solide et refroidies à une température proche du zéro absolu. Un faisceau de commande (jaune) de faible intensité permet alors de manipuler un faisceau sonde (rose).

Une drôle d’illusion optique

Pour toucher au but, l’équipe du Max Planck Institute a tout d’abord refroidi jusqu’à quelque - 272 °C des molécules intégrées dans une matrice solide. À l’aide des techniques de microscopie et de spectroscopie les plus modernes, ils ont ensuite forcé deux faisceaux laser à se focaliser et à se croiser précisément au-dessus de l’une de ces molécules. Le premier faisceau, baptisé « faisceau de commande », est destiné à modifier les propriétés optiques de la molécule. Objectif : que celle-ci devienne transparente au second faisceau, désigné sous le terme de « faisceau sonde ».

S’ils ont choisi de travailler à cette température proche du zéro absolu, c’est qu’elle a permis à la section efficace de la molécule (grandeur liée à la probabilité d'interaction d'une particule) d’être démultipliée, à un niveau qui dépasse même sa taille réelle. De quoi donner l’illusion d’une molécule géante, offrant de nombreuses possibilités d’interactions avec les photons du faisceau de commande. Ainsi, seuls quelques-uns d’entre eux ont suffit à effectivement modifier les propriétés optiques de la molécule. Les chercheurs en sont convaincus : l’impulsion de commande peut encore être plus faible. Selon eux, un seul photon de commande devrait, à terme, suffire et permettre de présider à la destinée d’un photon sonde.

L’équipe du Max Planck Institute poursuit donc ses travaux fondamentaux. Tout en pensant d’ores et déjà aux applications pratiques qui pourraient en découler. Les chercheurs souhaitent en effet faire de cette molécule un transistor nano-optique à intégrer dans un guide d’onde susceptible de jouer alors le rôle de câble entre différentes molécules. Un pas de géant vers l’ordinateur photonique !

California Sightings

San Diego – On April 18, 2016, filming from the beach lights seem to be coming from a single UFO, not a fleet. They stay together, as if attached. I tried to add light to them to see if there were wings or a body behind, but could find none. When I added light to the photo, it shows a UFO body behind it.

Austin Truitt of YouTube states: Right above the ocean 1 object appeared, then 2, then 3 and 4. Then all the objects vanished at the same time. Then a few minutes later 10 or 11 objects all appeared back in the same spot in a strange formation. This is when I started recording. After a few more minutes they fade out 1 by 1 as my camera goes out of focus.

Fallbrook — It was on February 20, 2016, that the sighting occurred. It was in the early afternoon and my wife and I were enjoying the view of Gavilan Mountain. I was looking up where two clouds met when something glimmered behind the leading edge of the storm clouds. Then the object appeared to drift down below the storm layer, actually swinging like a pendulum. It was a very shiny/brilliant object, almost with a glow, and now I could make it out. It looked like a polished, whitish shiny barbell except the lower end of the “barbell”, or bell if you would, was dark and burnt looking. That end appeared to be behaving like parachute would, dangling and swinging back and forth. Odd though, both ends were relatively the same size which wouldn’t be the case with a parachute. A parachute would have a much larger “chute” to carry the lower “bell”.

I glimpsed a small plane maybe ¼ mile to the right of the object. I grab my binoculars and it was gone. The bar bell appeared to be 20-30 feet in diameter. The “bar” appeared rectangular and shaded and was 8-12 feet rectangle maybe 30 – 40 feet long. The other dangling bell appeared dark, almost burnt, and actually looked like a square close to being 15 – 25 feet cube.

Florida Cylinder

Petersburg — It was 7:45 PM, on April 29, 2016, our house is located right on the water next to Tampa Bay. I walked outside to the back of my house to let our dog out. I then noticed a strange cigar like object moving SE to S that I couldn’t identify. It was completely transfixing. 

About 45 seconds into my observation, an orange orb instantly appeared directly to the right of the craft, and then blinked out after about 2-3 seconds. It was at this point that I pulled out my iPhone and captured about 25 seconds of relatively shaky video. There were no discernible normal aircraft lights and the craft made no sound. Hawaii Light

I was at the beach at night time and just decided to take a picture of a bright star in the sky on February`4, 2016.
So I did and was very surprised at what I captured.  I actually caught the object morphing from shape to a different shape and so forth.

I didn’t lose sight of it because it appears to be just a bright star in the universe. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Ohio Triangle

Westerville — I observed the same bright light approaching from the north, that i had seen just a few nights prior to September 14, 2015, at 10:05 PM. I had NO camera with me! The craft entered my frame of vision from the west (skimming Tree Tops), turned 90 degrees and flew directly at me.

The Navigational Lights were that of a jet, but the headlight was 10 xs brighter than a typical jet headlight. Took the dog out and got a ‘psychic’ message to return outside when I spotted the brightly lit craft.

I boldly stood as the craft came overhead at 15 – 20 mph.  It had a ring of brilliant red individual lights like ‘Times Square’ and utterly silent. Another Triangle, but this time, just over my head! Two Triangles together, with red and white lights, the head-beam was brighter than the moon, and cast for a couple miles forward.

It was VERY LOW, Slow, the green light and a feeling of peace hypnotized me, and love came over me.

They allowed me to see the entire craft and I wasn’t frightened as it passed overhead at 100 feet with the brilliant red belly lights. This struck me as a total Anti-Gravity craft. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Oregon Object

Roseburg – On April 2, 2016, the witness was outside walking her dog. She saw a bright object hovering over Roseburg, OR Airport. The object appeared to be oblong shaped and then it appeared to be rectangular shaped. The object was reddish-orange in color. It appeared that two dark circles were at each end of the object. The object hovered, then moved northeast, southeast and then abruptly disappeared. At 6:20 PM (over two hours before the sighting) a very loud boom was heard. The sound startled several neighbors and nothing was seen. The sound was likened to the sound of an exploding hot water heater. The witness took a video with her Samsung Galaxy III Cell phone and extracted two still images from the video.

Update – April 26, 2016: Apparently, the witness did not take a photo, but took a video. The two images above are screenshots from the video. The second image was received in this update. The witness writes: “Yes, the image was taken from the video on April 2, 2016. I just took the image and used the zoom feature on my phone to obtain a larger view of the image.”

Pennsylvania Light

Not sure if its people from other planets or the Military. All I do know is at 8 Pm on February 20, 2016; exactly I have found a spot that they fly by on their way apparently, to what I am assuming is an underwater base.

I have seen 36 ufos on 13 separate occasions. I have video and pictures.

I will share some as I see fit. These pics are from my cell and others from a decent camera. I have witnessed ufos vanish and re appear in thin air

Texas Light

Sweetwater — My husband and I were driving to the DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) area from Lubbock last Wednesday/Thursday. Out of complete darkness in the sky a line of bright white lights appears in front of our car. Dome shaped, flashing lights in a repetitive pattern, all white. The craft would disappear then reappear in different spots. It was seen over Highway 84 heading southeast of Hermleigh, and over I-20 eastbound coming into Sweetwater. We stopped on I-20 to take pictures as it flew right over us. The underside had three white lights in a triangle shape making low humming sounds. My husband took all the pictures but was skeptical about ufo sightings. He is not anymore. We have more than five pictures taken between Hermleigh and Sweetwater, Texas. It faded out to total darkness just before we got near Sweetwater exits off the interstate. Our phones kept running out of charge while this object was near and the Bluetooth in my car kept re-syncing while the craft flew over us. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Wisconsin Orange Ball

Rock Lake Pyramids in Lake Mills – I left my house and noticed a lightning storm and setup to take pictures. At 9:56, on April 25, 2016.

I noticed a glowing orange ball headed west my way. Object instantly changed direction.
When I got home, the flash drive was corrupted.
I have had this Camera a Fuji FinePix S5200 since 2005 and have NEVER had drive problem.
I recovered the drive and the pictures. I checked the star charts. Nothing lined up.  Many object in the pictures, looks like they are feeding or creating the Thunder Storm. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Worldwide UFO Reports

 Australia Triangle of lights

Hamersley — I had just left my room and was walking to work when in front of me something moving in the sky caught my eye. I observed 3 lights the size of stars moving in a southerly direction in formation at about half the speed of what a plane would travel at cruising altitude. The 3 lights were approaching a single star so I double checked to see which lights were moving by identifying the positions of the near by stars and building structures that were in my view. I could confirm that the 3 lights were moving and the single star, nearby stars and building was stationary. I stopped walking and continued to observe the 3 lights for several seconds as they passed over the single star.

The single star remained visible as the triangle of 3 lights passed over it. About 10 seconds later the 3 lights dimmed out until I could no longer see them in the sky any more. This further confirmed that the 3 lights were moving independently in the sky. I continued to look upwards but didn’t see it any longer.  Canada Fire

Toronto — At 12:19 AM, I took a photo of the flotilla formation, which flew, over my building on 24 May 2014.

I felt some changes in the atmosphere and ran outside with my digital camera. In less than a minute, I saw a couple of flashes from three objects and snapped a photo of them. The camera’s screen showed nine of them!

The brightest two dozen objects flashed briefly and made this half U-turn flying a southwest loop over the buildings. Thanks to MUFON CMS

ONTARIO — A scientist at the US Department of Defense has become the latest high-ranking personnel to speak up about aliens and UFOs.  The electromagnetic and laser systems expert of the department requested not to be named to safeguard his career. He claims to have seen a phone receiver-shaped UFO over woods during a hunting trip. The man said that he was with a hunting group on August 28, 2013 when he saw a craft at around 9:40 pm for about six minutes. The aircraft was seen just 400 feet away and two other members of the team also saw it.  In a video interview, the witness claimed they were driving down a logging route when they spotted a craft flying at 150 to 175 feet altitude. He grabbed his riflescope, and hung out the open side window to watch the bright craft. The witness saw no lines and rivets and their cameras did not work until the craft was a quarter of a mile away. He wanted to find out how this vehicle flew. NOTE: The above image is CGI. Costa Rica Flying Object

 Cartago — I was with my girlfriend visiting Irazu Volcano National Park taking pictures. The weather was really nice. This Volcano is 3400 meters of altitude above sea level close to the biosphere. So we were above the clouds. The sky was really clear so at 11:00 am and we were taking pictures of the volcano and the landscape.

The clouds looked like a white sea so I took pictures. Once we finished the tour, we headed back home. Checking the pictures, I noticed one black circle above the mountains that I noticed before. It looked like a circular saucer with an antenna on the top of it and one on its tail.  I took the pictures in a burst. On one picture, you can see the object completely clear on the next one it vanished in seconds.Thanks to MUFON CMS

Greece Triangle

Nea Moudania – On April 24, 2016, my friend and I were  going home at 10:15 PM. In a moment when I saw up in the sky, a triangle shaped object pass over the building. At this moment, I thought it is a Military Vehicle. Two sides of this object had lights on both sides. It was going straight. When I saw the object, I was a bit nervous.

Mexico: Rhomboidal Ufos

Ecatepec — The presence of these anomalous objects was visible, since the air show and flights had been cancelled on October 10, 2015.  A rhomboidal UFO was sighted over the Tablas del Pozo district of Mexico State, by UFO hunter Salvador Ramirez, who had recorded a large brown UFO hanging in mid-air at low altitude. The UFO displayed considerable stability in spite of the prevailing winds, thus dispelling the possibility that it could have been a balloon. At that very same time, the Mexican Air Force was holding an air show celebrating the 205th year of the Independence of Mexico. All aircraft other than military were forbidden to fly over the area including Mexico City.

At 11:07 hours on September 16, to the south of Mexico’s Federal District, a crew of the Tercer Milenio television show, led by Carlos Clemente, was able to capture a disc-shaped, black flying object in flight. This silent UFO flew at low altitude, nearly at the level of the residential structures.  Simultaneously, in the vicinity of Indios Verdes, UFO hunter Fabián Meléndez managed to capture an object having the shape of an inverted pyramid, motionless at low altitude.  These sightings made us realize that there had been considerable UFO activity in Central Mexico between 11:00 and 13:00 hours.

Such sightings have been documented on video since September 16, 1991 when Vicente Sanchez, located in the Tlalpan precinct, managed to capture the presence of a mysterious UFO very close to the airplanes, which is not allowed for safety reasons.

South Africa Orb

Nelsprui – On November 7th, 2015 I was enjoying a barbecue in my backyard with my family when I saw a Boeing flying directly over my house heading in an east. The sky was cloudless and deep blue and the white vapor trails the Boeing Yohanan Diaz Vargas made caught my attention and I grabbed the old 60D and snapped a couple of photographs of it.

When I downloaded all the photographs on the memory card two months later and sorted them, I came across the photos I took of the Boeing. I then noticed a strange sphere in one of the photographs appearing to be right next to the Boeing which I did not see. I found another photograph with the same sphere but this time at the opposite side of the Boeing and very faint.  I realized that this could be a UFO photographed by me unknowingly. I was excited about this and showed the photographs to a friend of mine working at a photo lab. He told me that it had nothing to do with lens flare and that I had actually photographed “something” and encouraged me to look into it.

In my opinion, someone on that flight had to have seen this thing as well as it appears to be flying at the same height as the Boeing.  The last two photographs I indicated where the sphere is on photograph 0172 & 0174.  Thanks to MUFON CMS

Alishan — We were watching sunrise at about 5:30 to 6:10 AM at the height of about 2,300 feet on May 4, 2016, and took many photographs. When I checked my photos in the car after we left the spot, I noticed some green dots in the some of my photos. I thought my I-phone lens was kind of stained by dust. However when I chatted with my friends they all have the same problems so we started to gather all the photos to check what happened. We were all stunned by the weird unknown object which emitted greenish light appearing in some of our photos. We only noticed it when we checked the photos afterwards. None us saw it when we were taking the photographs.

It looks like Kryptonite!  One of my friends in HK (who is keen in checking information about UFO) takes the view that it could be an UFO and perhaps it was emitting a wave length that could not be detected by human eyes similar to a form of cloaked technology. United Kingdom Light

Newton Abbot Devon — On April 24, 2016, it was a cloudy night and I was looking at the moon through a break in the clouds. I then spotted a white light that was way off in the distance and was too big to be a star. At first, I thought it was the international space station, but the white light then began to move so I knew it couldn’t be the international space station. Also, there were no signs of light beacons so I ruled it out as being a plane or helicopter. Furthermore, there was no sound at all. I then zoomed into the white light with my Sony HX300 and could clearly see that it was changing shape. I started taking photographs. In the first, photograph the object looks like an F. In the rest of the photographs, the white light takes on some other bizarre shapes. I took eight photographs before the white light shot off into the distance and out of sight. The photographs were taken‎ on 24th of ‎April ‎2016 at Newton Abbot Devon UK.

Note: We have received many photos from this same witness over the past few years. So far, I have never had evidence of fabrication and it appears that this witness does experience unusual sightings. The witness used a telephoto lens with an optical zoom setting of around 11X. The apparent shape shifting may be real as the witness used a shutter speed of 1/8 seconds. It is less likely that the shape distortion was due to camera movement with this shutter speed. However, it is also important to note that a proven case of gas bubbles rising to the surface and sinking an unfavorably-positioned ship has never been recorded, as Atlas Obscura   reports.

Nevertheless, the notion that a sudden release of the gas potentially endangering ships, or even bringing down aircraft, is not new -  May and Monaghan, the Russian scientist Igor Yeltsov , and some others have also toyed with the idea in the last few decades. Even though the CAGE scientists are not proposing a connection, some others have even directly referenced the role of gas hydrates in the disappearances of the Bermuda Triangle.

As Yeltsov, the deputy head of the Trofimuk Institute, reportedly said last year :

“There is a version that the Bermuda Triangle is a consequence of gas hydrates reactions. They start to actively decompose with methane ice turning into gas. It happens in an avalanche-like way, like a nuclear reaction, producing huge amounts of gas. That makes the ocean heat up and ships sink in its waters mixed with a huge proportion of gas.”

Furthermore, Benjamin Phrampus, an Earth scientist at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, told Live Science in 2014 that "Gas hydrate is known to exist along the U.S. North Atlantic continental margin, with a very large province on Blake Ridge (north of the Bermuda Triangle)."

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil’s Triangle is a region of ocean bordered by Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. It covers some 500,000 square miles of ocean. The legendary location has become notorious as a site of unexplained disappearances of ships and aircraft since it was named in a 1964 story by Vincent H. Gaddis in the American magazine Argosy.

But Gaddis was not the first to report on strange happenings and disappearances in the region. George X. Sands, wrote about “an unusually large number of strange accidents in that region” in Fate magazine in 1952.

And many years before him, History says on their website that the famous explorer Columbus noted odd happenings as he sailed through the region.

They write:

“When Christopher Columbus sailed through the area on his first voyage to the New World, he reported that a great flame of fire (probably a meteor) crashed into the sea one night and that a strange light appeared in the distance a few weeks later. He also wrote about erratic compass readings, perhaps because at that time a sliver of the Bermuda Triangle was one of the few places on Earth where true north and magnetic north lined up.”

Numerous unexplained disappearances have been linked to the Bermuda Triangle. Some examples are US Navy ships that have inexplicably vanished with their crew and cargo in 1918 and 1941. They reportedly sent no distress signals and disappeared somewhere on route between Barbados and Chesapeake Bay.

As for planes, the famous Flight 19 story is one of the best-known. History reports on the strange disappearance saying:

“In December 1945, five Navy bombers carrying 14 men took off from a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, airfield in order to conduct practice bombing runs over some nearby shoals. But with his compasses apparently malfunctioning, the leader of the mission, known as Flight 19, got severely lost. All five planes flew aimlessly until they ran low on fuel and were forced to ditch at sea. That same day, a rescue plane and its 13-man crew also disappeared. After a massive weeks-long search failed to turn up any evidence, the official Navy report declared that it was “as if they had flown to Mars.””

There are many proposed theories that have tried to explain the strange occ )urrences that seem to abound in the Bermuda Triangle. Some of the alternative hypotheses include: aliens, Atlantis, sea monsters, time warps, and reverse gravity fields.

Other researchers have suggested magnetic anomalies, waterspouts or, huge eruptions of methane gas from the ocean floor.

Despite the supernatural feeling of the disappearances, the location is not officially recognized by the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Board on Geographic Names do not identify it or accept it on their list. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says that “The U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard contend that there are no supernatural explanations for disasters at sea.  Their experience suggests that the combined forces of nature and human fallibility outdo even the most incredulous science fiction.”

The NOAA also states that:

“The ocean has always been a mysterious place to humans, and when foul weather or poor navigation is involved, it can be a very deadly place.  This is true all over the world.  There is no evidence that mysterious disappearances occur with any greater frequency in the Bermuda Triangle than in any other large, well-traveled area of the ocean.”

More information on the Norwegian scientists’ research on the craters in the Barents Sea will be released in April at the annual meeting of the European Geosciences Union .

These are the 'strange sightings' featured in a Swansea Bay UFO group's new database

They range from a man 'abducted by aliens' in 1856 to a strange object over Morriston

A man who claimed to have been abducted by aliens in the Vale of Neath in 1857 to a “flying jellyfish” over Langland Bay, Gower... and a strange object hovering near the DVLA tower in Swansea.

These are some of the many Swansea Bay UFO experiences which make up a new database established by the recently formed Swansea UFO Network.

Who's set it up?

The group was founded last year by Emlyn Williams and Steve Drewson to document and investigate sightings of unidentified aerial objects and phenomena in the Swansea Bay area, aimed at providing a forum for debate for anyone interested in the subject.

Mr Williams said: “Our first monthly meeting was held in April 2015 at the Welcome Inn in Llangyfelach, Swansea, and was very well attended. Since then we have held monthly meetings and have had guests speakers from the Ufology communtity.

“Many people who attend our meetings have had sightings and experiences to relate, sometimes for the first time, as their fear of ridicule in the past has kept them silent.

"Many witnesses have contacted us by telephone, email, or Facebook to report sightings.”

The new database of cases from the area has been sourced from newspaper reports, books and magazines, MOD reports and first-hand witness testimony – and these currently number over 350.

How do they operate?

Mr Williams said: “When we receive a report, either historical or current, we first look to see if they can be explained by ‘conventional’ means, such as balloons, Chinese lanterns, aircraft, meteors, planets etc.

“The behaviour and physical attributes of the object/s in each case usually tells us quickly what these could be. The cases where a ‘normal’ explanation cannot be applied are of most interest to us, and it seems that our initial geographical area of study has been filled with many ‘unexplained in conventional terms’ sightings.

“We are currently expanding our study area to cover all of South and West Wales as many sightings of objects travelling across the area could be corroborated by witnesses further east or west.”

A man was 'lifted in the air'

1856: In the Vale of Neath, Ronald Rhys reported “being lifted into the air” after investigating a light and added he was examined by strange creatures and found he had been missing from home for a week.

It came from the sea

September 1957: A “blood-red ‘globe” rising out of the sea was viewed from Porthcawl by two police officers.

August 1963: An orange object “like a jellyfish” was spotted over Langland Bay.

November 1965: A huge cigar-shaped object hovering over Singleton Hospital, Swansea, caused lights on all the floors to flicker on and off, before it suddenly vanished in an instant.

August 1977: A UFO seen rising from a field at Bishopston, Swansea, by two boys, one of whom was the son of the local vicar, who went to the site and reported marks on the ground.

Spotted near the DVLA

The most recent sighting came on April 20, 2016 when a couple walking their dog in Clase, Swansea, near the DVLA, photographed an object in the sky as it moved from south to north without any sound.

DULCE — Something strange is happening in this tiny town on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation in the far reaches of Northern New Mexico.

Residents claim they’re seeing — even photographing — flying saucers and other unidentified flying objects over the community of about 2,600 people, many of whom also share stories of low-flying military helicopters and fast-moving lights darting back and forth in the sky.

One resident even claims to have tracked Bigfoot.

But it’s the unexplained activity in the sky — and possibly underneath a neighboring mountain — that has captivated this community, the capital of the Jicarilla Apache Nation. Everyone knows about New Mexico’s decades-long connection with UFOs, starting with the reported crash landing of an unidentified flying object on a ranch near Roswell in 1947.

Since then, New Mexicans have reported hundreds of sightings and encounters with UFOs. Roswell has built an industry around its fabled alien visitors with a museum and annual festival devoted to them.

But if Roswell is the capital of New Mexico’s fascination with the unexplained, Dulce is the town of true believers.

“The whole town of Dulce, whoever you want to talk to, they’ll tell you what they’ve seen — a lot of them,” said 78-year-old Geraldine Julian, who claims to have seen multiple UFOs and other strange activity starting in the 1960s.

“It’s not just a fairy tale,” Julian insisted. “All the things are true, and I believe every last one of them, too, because I’ve seen it myself.”

Julian swears she saw “a big spaceship” hovering above her property just outside of town.

“The bottom part was flat … but on top there was a dome,” she said while resting near a blocked-off bridge where the alleged UFO flew over. “There was movement inside.”

Talk of UFOs and other unexplained activity in and around this isolated community just south of the Colorado border is not new.

Legend has it that Dulce is ground zero for space aliens who are working in concert with the government in a not-so-secret facility underneath Archuleta Mesa, a steep, flat-topped mountain overlooking the town.

“In 1979, businessman Paul Bennewitz was convinced he was picking up electronic communications from alien spacecraft, and after further investigations, he claims he discovered a secret underground base near the town of Dulce where these signals were coming from,” according to the Top5s, a YouTube channel that ranked the Dulce Base the second most mysterious and highly forbidden place on the planet.

“His results excited the UFO community and by 1990, well-known ufologist John Lear also claims he had proof the base existed, and the theories have been going on ever since,” according to the report, which has received more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.

The so-called Dulce Base, which was featured on the History Channel’s UFO Hunters television show, purportedly contains multiple levels, including areas for genetic and mind-control experiments and cryogenics storage. As the story goes, the Dulce Base serves as the hub of an underground transportation system linked to other alien bases, including one in Taos.

“I’m not a believer,” said one of the cooks at the Players Sports Bar & Grill a local gathering spot that sells a “Sasquatch Burger,” an enormous hamburger with 2 pounds of beef, six strips of bacon and four slices of cheese between bread in the shape of a big foot. Near the entrance of the bar is a poster with two green space aliens, one dressed as a cowboy and the other as an Indian with a headdress, and the words, “Where the locals hang out!”

The Wild Horse Casino next door also is trying to capitalize on the alleged space alien activity. Among the T-shirts for sale in the casino’s gift shop is one featuring a green alien with big, blue eyes over the caption, “I got probed at Dulce Base.”

Chelse Anderson, 27, who works at the casino, said the hotel attracts visitors who are specifically in search of UFOs.

“They prefer rooms with a view of the mountain, that way they can see it,” she said. “We have some [guests] that wander around the building at night.”

The casino hotel is already booked for next weekend in anticipation of the Dulce Base UFO Conference, which a local nonprofit is hosting as a fundraiser. The nonprofit, Apache Indigenous Defenders Inc., is raising money to support organizations that work to keep local Native traditions alive.

In an area with little economic activity, the president of the Jicarilla Apache Legislative Council has embraced the notion of a Dulce Base, partly in a push to stimulate tourism in a largely forgotten pocket of the state.

“We are a proud nation who remain steadfast to our way of life as Jicarilla Apaches,” council President Ty Vicenti wrote in a welcome message posted on the conference website.

“Our people have been blessed with an outstanding first of the year, as snow has given us hope for a prosperous 2016,” he wrote. “Please take the time to visit our many tribal businesses, enjoy a meal from local vendors located on Commercial Street, visit the Arts and Crafts Department and talk to the many tribal members who have first hand contact with UFO sightings and stories.”

Dulce, which became the headquarters of the Jicarilla Apache Nation in 1887, is perhaps best known among Northern New Mexicans as the location of the annual Little Beaver Roundup Rodeo.

The former logging town has no traffic lights or Starbucks or McDonald’s. Rather, there are a handful of convenience stores and small mom-and-pop restaurants on either side of N.M. 64. One of the main economic drivers is the casino, which, unlike other Indian casinos in New Mexico, closes at night.

Anderson, a Dulce native, said she’s never seen an unidentified flying object but hopes she will one day.

“Numerous people have seen stuff,” she said. “I believe there’s something there.”

She’s not alone.

In fact, one Dulce resident believes he captured UFOs on his camera.

“I took this picture about 3 o’clock in the morning,” a man who works in the tribal government’s Public Safety Division said Wednesday while displaying a grainy photo on his phone that shows several balls of light suspended in the air.

The man, who declined to give his name for fear of losing his job, also has two photos taken in broad daylight that appear to show one and then two UFOs floating in the clouds. The man declined to share his photos.

“The way the government is, the way things are, I don’t want [it] to come back on me,” he said. “Plus, I’m [a public safety employee]. I’m not even supposed to be talking about this because of my job.”

A former New Mexico State Police trooper, the late Gabe Valdez, documented unexplained cattle mutilations in the area in the mid-1970s, boosting speculation of alien activity.

But the evidence left behind didn’t come from outer space, Valdez said in different interviews.

“The evidence that was left there, you know, predators don’t leave gas masks, glow sticks, radar chaff. They don’t leave that stuff. They don’t have vitamin B-12,” Valdez said in a radio interview.

In an interview with the History Channel’s UFO Hunters, Valdez said the most anomalous evidence he came across while investigating cattle mutilations happened about 40 miles east of Dulce.

“We could tell where the aircraft came through,” Valdez said. “They didn’t do the whole process, and they left a fetus inside the animal.”

“A fetus? A cow fetus,” UFO researcher Pat Uskert asked Valdez.

“No,” Valdez replied. “It looked like a human, a monkey and a frog. It didn’t have any bones in the head. It was all full of water.”

When asked if he was implying that the cow was being used as an “incubation chamber for a cloned creature,” Valdez said that’s “exactly” what he was saying.

In an interview with Open Minds Radio, Valdez said he found listening devices in his home after investigating the cattle mutilations. He also claimed to have seen “sophisticated aircraft,” including an orb that looked like a hot air balloon.

“People have seen the helicopters. They’re black and silent,” Valdez said in the radio interview.

Tim Anderson, who is Navajo and married to an Apache, said stories of black helicopters and bright lights over Archuleta Mesa are commonplace in Dulce. He describes the town as the Roswell of Northern New Mexico.

“I don’t know what it is,” he said. “I can’t explain it.”

Anderson is more interested in what’s on the ground than in the air.

Specifically, he’s tracking Bigfoot.

“I do believe there is a mystical creature out there that nobody knows about,” said Anderson, who claims to have found two separate Bigfoot footprints that he made into casts.

“I believe there is something out there,” he said. “One of these days, somebody will find something.”

Anderson, who was a police officer in Dulce for 14 years, said he saw a UFO in a canyon near Archuleta Mesa while working in the late 1990s.

“It lit up the whole valley and just disappeared into the rocks,” he said. “I just rubbed my eyes. ‘Did I really see that?’ ”
