NASA's Fermi discovers the most powerful blazars so far!

The gamma rays were found to be radiated by blazars, which are very compact regions surrounding supermassive black holes detected so far.

NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope recently discovered strong emissions of gamma radiations from an ancient group of five galaxies.

The powerful gamma ray emissions spotted had been given off from an extremely distant object when the universe aged 1.4 billion years, which is approximately 10 percent of its present age.

The research team was led by Vaidehi Paliya and Marco Ajello at Clemson University in South Carolina and included Dario Gasparrini at the Italian Space Agency's Science Data Center in Rome along with Roopesh Ojha, an astronomer at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

"Despite their youth, these far-flung blazars host some of the most massive black holes known," Ojha said in a NASA statement.

"They developed so early in cosmic history challenges current ideas of how super massive black holes form and grow, and we want to find more of these objects to help us better understand the process," he added.

Giant and active elliptical galaxies possessing super massive black holes, which got a mass equivalent to one million times the Sun's mass or more, have blazars present in their core. Extremely strong tides of energy are given away by these black holes almost at the speed of light when any matter falls into it.

"The main question now is how these huge black holes could have formed in such a young universe," one of the researchers, Dario Gasparrini, from Italian Space Agency's Science Data Centre in Rome said.

"We don't know what mechanisms triggered their rapid development," he added.

The team of researchers, who carried out this discovery, is going to conduct in-depth research to find out more about it.

"We think Fermi has detected just the tip of the iceberg, the first examples of a galaxy population that previously has not been detected in gamma rays," said Marco Ajello from Clemson University in South Carolina, the US.

The video – filmed from inside the jet – shows the wing flying over a snowy terrain at sunset.

Suddenly, the aircraft – supposedly Dutch – leans to the right and just moments later a black shape appears.

It hurtles past the window of the plane – tantalisingly close to the wing.

The footage was accompanied by the caption: “A UFO flies just past a Dutch aircraft, the pilot must swerve to avoid hitting the object.”

While some may suggest the footage is concrete proof of alien life, there could be simple explanations behind the strange sight.

The small black object could easily be a drone – which have been known to cause disruption to flights in the past.

It may also have been a bird or even simply a balloon.

The strange footage comes after UFO fanatics claimed they saw an alien spacecraft split mid-air.

And remarkable video released by the Chilean Navy appeared to show a UFO “leaking gas”.

Broad Haven UFO sightings marked 40 years on

There were no alien invasions or tales of abduction, yet a UFO sighting by a group of Pembrokeshire school children remains one of the most famous cases in Wales.

It was 40 years ago when a class of pupils at Broad Haven Primary School said they spotted a UFO in a field near their playground.

It was one of a wave of sightings in the area in 1977 - dubbed the Dyfed Triangle.

David Davies was 10 at the time and heard reports of pupils seeing flying saucers throughout the day.

"I was a natural born sceptic so after the bell rang I decided to go to the area that the children said they had seen it," he told BBC Wales.

He described seeing a silver "cigar-shaped" craft with a "dome covering the middle third".

"My sighting only lasted a couple of seconds. It popped up and then went back behind a tree."

Mr Davies said he did not feel afraid, "more in awe and wonderment", although he admitted he had "a strange desire to run away".

None of the teachers believed the children and so the headmaster separated them and got them to draw what they saw. There were slight variations, but what they drew was basically the same.

Mr Davies described the days that followed as a "wild rollercoaster."

"It went crazy with the media and it was difficult to settle down and actually think about what we had seen."

Two months later, Rosa Granville, who ran the Haven Fort Hotel in nearby Little Haven, described seeing an object which looked like an "upside-down saucer" and two "faceless humanoid" creatures with pointed heads.

She said so much heat came off it, her "face felt burned".

"There was light coming from it and flames of all colours. Then [the creatures] came out of these flames, that's what I don't understand," she said.

When she visited the field she said there was "two inches of burned grounds".

Ms Granville said the incident left her "agitated and disturbed".

A number of theories have been put forward to explain the sightings.

Then-MP for Pembroke, Nicholas Edwards contacted the Ministry of Defence after being "inundated" with UFO sightings.

Flt Lt Cowan, an officer from RAF Brawdy, visited Ms Granville's hotel and examined the site, but could find no evidence of a landing.

He joked: "Should a UFO arrive at RAF Brawdy we will charge normal landing fees."

In his report, he mentioned the possibility that a "local prankster was at work" and the description of aliens "fitted exactly the type of protection suit that would have been issued in the event of a fire at one of the local oil refineries".

This fits in with the account of businessman Glyn Edwards, who in 1996 revealed he wandered around the area in a silver suit in 1977 as a prank.

The National Archives also released files which examined UFO sightings across Wales, and the officials who investigated the Broad Haven sightings suspected pranksters.

"There is general speculation in the neighbourhood that a practical joker may be at work," wrote staff at S4 - the government department that investigated sightings at the time.

It was also thought school children could have confused a sewage tank as a UFO, although many were from farming backgrounds and would have been familiar with the machinery.

More recently, a former US Navy sailor said the figure in a silver suit was in fact a member of US military personnel wearing their standard fireproof uniform and the UFOs were new Harrier jets flying over.

To mark 40 years since the sightings, a conference is being held in Broad Haven on Saturday, organised by Swansea UFO Network.

Organiser Emyln Williams said the case started "worldwide interest".

Asked if he thought it was genuine, he said: "One child can lie, but can a whole class?

"Over 40 years at least one of them might have come forward to say they made it up - but they haven't."

Mr Williams said there were several sightings the day the children claimed to have seen a UFO, including at Hubberston School in Milford Haven.

"That year there was so much happening. It is what we know as a UFO flap," he said.

Eyewitness Mr Davies, who lives in Shropshire, will be a guest speaker.

He said he had always been open-minded to the theories which attempted to explain the sightings and at no time had he "ever sensationalised his story".

"So many people are ridiculed for saying they have seen a UFO," he said, describing his secondary school life as a "misery".

"I was beaten senseless purely because of what happened to me. It would have been so much easier to take back my story."

He admits UFOs has been a subject that has gone on to "dominate his life".

"At one point I must have had the largest library of books in Wales on the subject."

Attending alongside Mr Davies is Neil Spring, who wrote a book based on the Broad Haven sightings.

"The moment I heard of this small village plagued by UFO sightings, I was inspired to understand what really happened," he said.

His research uncovered a secret investigation by the military police.

"Whilst the government was telling the public they had no records of any unusual activity in the area, privately, officials were so concerned about the UFO sightings in Broad Haven that they asked the military police to conduct a 'discreet' investigation," he said.

Mr Spring believes local pranksters were behind some of the sightings, but said "people emulate what's happening around them" and the pranks were inspired by events which had been "sincerely reported".

"My research showed that there were strange occurrences in Broad Haven long before the incident at the school and for a long times afterwards.

"So you can take the children out of the story and you'll still have the story."

TODAY marks 40 years since school children in Broad Haven sparked a massive spike in interest from UFO enthusiasts after an unusual sighting.

Interest in what happened in Broad Haven in 1977 has never dwindled and will be celebrated with a special conference today.

The Swansea UFO Network is holding a Welsh Triangle 40th Anniversary Conference examining what happened on February 4 1977.

A whole class of school children from Broad Haven Primary School saw an unusual craft land in a field next to the school as well as mysterious silver figure walking about.

Their stories were dismissed as fantasy but the children were so adamant they had seen something unusual they handed in a petition to the police station. Their head teacher later asked them to draw the UFO and was amazed at how similar their pictures were.

Randall Pugh was instrumental in bringing the story to the attention of the media and it became an overnight sensation.

The case was extensively investigated at the time and first appeared in the Western Telegraph sparking world-wide interest in what turned out to be the start of a major series of sightings in the area – dubbed ‘The Welsh Triangle’.

Dubbed Called the “West Wales flap” of 1977, the incident was second only to the “Warminster Thing” in British UFO history.

According to documents released in 2005 a secret military investigation was launched into claims that alien craft and their tall humanoid occupants were taking a particular interest in the local coastline.

Organisers of next month’s conference are looking for witnesses to UFO sightings in south-west Wales during the 1977 ‘flap’ to tell people what they saw and experienced.

The conference will be held at Broad Haven Village Hall, 10am to 5pm. Speakers confirmed so far include author Neil Spring (The Watchers), David L. Richards (UFO Wales) and special video link with Peter Paget, author of the Welsh Triangle and UFO-UK.

There will also be a visit to the UFO sighting location at the exact time it happened 40 years ago.

PONCEY-SUR-L'IGNON 
04.10.1954 
Observation de plusieurs phénomènes en deux jours sur une même commune

Description :    

Les 2 et 4 octobre 1954 plusieurs personnes de la commune de Poncey-sur-l'Ignon (21) vont être témoins de phénomènes qui les intriguent. Le PV de la Gendarmerie fait état des deux séries d’évènements distincts dans un même secteur traités ici chronologiquement.

Le premier évènement a lieu le 2 octobre 1954 à Poncey-sur l'Ignon. A 19h40, une cultivatrice qui vient de traire les vaches, remarque d'abord dans le ciel "un engin lumineux" "se rapportant à tout ce que l'on voit dans la presse ces jours-ci". Le témoin rapporte qu'elle a vu « comme un rayon de lune » qui "éclairait la cour". Elle pense qu'il s'agit de la Lune mais découvre que celle-ci a une forme bizarre. En fixant son attention, le témoin observe alors un cylindre vertical dont elle estime la hauteur à 1,5m et le diamètre à 80cm. Il est lumineux sur toute sa surface, de couleur orange avec un reflet vert autour et se déplace debout à faible hauteur et plutôt près des bâtiments. Convaincue qu'il ne s'agit pas de la Lune mais d'un "engin" inconnu, elle avertit son mari, son fils et une voisine. Ces derniers ont le temps de voir la lumière venant du Nord disparaître vers le Sud. La voisine décrit une boule lumineuse comme un ballon de football plus orangée qu'une ampoule électrique et se déplacant silencieusement.

La seconde série d’évènements a lieu le 4 octobre 1954 au Val d'Ignon au lieu-dit 'l'usine d'amiante" à 1km au sud du village de Poncey-sur-l'Ignon. Ce lieu-dit est composé d'un groupe de bâtiments dont une partie sert d'habitation à trois familles d'ouvriers. Il est entouré au Nord, à l'Est et à l'Ouest par des prés et au sud par un étang.
Vers 19h30, alors qu’elle ferme les volets de sa chambre, une jeune femme voit en direction du Nord, au-dessus d’un prunier situé dans la cour, une lumière assez forte de couleur jaunâtre, en forme de champignon semble-t-il, ovale à la partie supérieure et ronde à la partie inférieure, se présentant comme un globe transparent éclairé de l’intérieur. Elle estime sa hauteur à une quinzaine de mètres, sa distance à 50 m et compare sa taille à celle d’une cuisinière. Aucun bruit particulier n'est entendu. Elle ne la regarde que quelques instants et ne peut préciser son état de mouvement. Prise de panique, elle prend son enfant et va chercher refuge chez une voisine qui est seule avec sa fille. Aucun autre témoin n'observera ce phénomène.

Vers 20h30, le gendre et le fils de la voisine arrivent et trouvent les trois femmes apeurées. Ensemble ils vont dans le pré contigu à la cour à l'endroit dans la direction d'observation du phénomène. Ils constatent la présence d’une zone approximativement rectangulaire (1,50 x 0,50-0,70 m) creusée dans le sol (sur 5 cm) avec de la terre brisée aux deux extrémités et les mottes de terre et d’herbe répandues alentour dans un cercle d’environ 4 m de rayon. Les mottes de tailles inégales (en général 30 x 20 cm sauf deux de 60 cm) sont retournées herbe vers le bas. Deux témoins rapportent la présence de nombreux vers blancs vivants présents au milieu des traces.

De la droite à la gauche: Mme Fourneret montrant les étrangetés de la trace au reporter et ufologue Charles Garreau et à l'ufologue Jimmy Guieu qui sont venus interviewer les témoins et enquêter sur les lieux.

Vers 20h45, le second fils de la voisine (18 ans), revenant de son travail au village voisin distant de 1,5 km, aperçoit brièvement dans le ciel, un « engin » en forme de cigare sans aile, entièrement lumineux, de couleur « transparente » avec des reflets vert et orange qui traverse le ciel très rapidement en direction Nord-Sud. Apeuré par cette vision il rentre rapidement chez ses parents. Aucun autre témoin observera ce phénomène.

Les gendarmes sont prévenus le 5 octobre à 19h30 et constatent les traces au sol le soir même. Ils procèdent à l’enquête et constituent le dossier photographique le 6 octobre 1954. Ils examinent la possibilité d’une farce du gendre et du fils de la voisine mais, après vérification de leur emploi du temps, les gendarmes rejettent cette hypothèse. D'après un témoin qui habite le quartier aucun bétail n'est en pâture dans le pré et il n'a vu personne rôder dans cet endroit la veille.

Un enquêteur privé s'est rendu sur les lieux en août 2015 pour tenter de préciser la topographie de l'observation : les lieux ont peu changé mais les habitants de 1954 n'habitent plus sur place ou sont décédés. Le GEIPAN a tenté de joindre par téléphone et courrier une des témoins mais sans succés.
Concernant les traces au sol, l’hypothèse des sangliers ne paraît pas en très bon accord avec les descriptions faites de l’excavation : bords relativement nets, mottes déposées hors de l’excavation et plutôt régulières en taille et en position (retournée), vers blancs non consommés (les sangliers ont pu être dérangés). Les photographies des traces faites par la gendarmerie seront prises deux jours après l'observation. De plus ces traces ont été piétinées par les témoins. Cette hypothèse reste acceptable mais non confirmée.

Le phénomène lumineux peut-il être considéré comme la cause de la trace ? Les données disponibles ne fournissent aucune preuve directe d’un lien de cause à effet. On doit se contenter de la corrélation de direction d'observation des deux phénomènes (lumière et traces au sol) et corrélation relative de temps dans un intervalle d’une heure.

En résumé le cas d'observation du 4 octobre 1954 rapporte trois évènements : deux observations distinctes, courtes, par à chaque fois un seul témoin, d'un phénomène lumineux lointain. Puis des traces au sol. Ces trois évènements ne sont pas associés forcément entre eux. Pour chacun de ces évènements il existe des hypothèses fragiles qui ne peuvent être confirmées. Globalement la consistance de ce cas est moyenne car elle ne contient pas d'éléments vérifiables. Son étrangeté serait forte si on pouvait corréler de façon certaine les traces au sol et les phénomènes lumineux.

Remarques: il faut savoir que durant l'année 1954 et particulièrement en octobre, la presse nationale et locale a publié un grand nombre d'articles relatant des cas d'observation d'OVNI.

DECLASSIFIED documents have revealed the CIA wanted to see if a psychic could replicate key aspects of the Lockerbie bombing.

Some 13 million pages of files were released online last week for the first time, including CIA interest in Edinburgh paranormal research.

Now it has emerged the 930,000 files also include asking a subject to describe a photo of the reconstructed baggage carrier that held the plane’s bomb.

“Filed under special access required”, the notes are headed: “Warning notice: Intelligence sources and methods involved.”

Pan Am Flight 103 was brought down by the device on December 21, 1988, killing all 259 people on board and a further 11 people on the ground.

The CIA’s psychic tests relating to Lockerbie were carried out on June 7, 1990 at an unknown location and filed under Project Sun Streak, successor to the controversial Stargate project.

Another released CIA document outlines Sun Streak’s mission as “dealing with the use of psychoenergetics in the collection of intelligence information”.

It describes “Psychoenergetics” as psychokinesis – physical actions performed by mental powers – and perceptions that cannot be explained by non-sensory means, such as telepathy.

Parameters of the Lockerbie test outline using “tangibles and intangibles of more than one word”, as well as “probing sketches”.

What follows is 22 pages of photocopied scrawled notes and drawings together with a typed account of the session.

The article refers to the cassette player in which Semtex explosive was hidden.

The typed notes from the session retained by the CIA say: “The stuff inside it is light, smooth, stringy, air, and it is moving down, making a ‘whoosh’ sound. It is speeding up as it goes down and out. It makes me want to throw up.”

Describing the cylindrical shape in a box, the account continues: “There is a bomb in the box and it explodes.”

This UFO was caught by UFO Lou of Youtube. He lives in Australia and used a night vision scope to capture this footage. At 2:49 into the footage you see a large UFO moving in Earths orbit. The UFO is too slow to be a meteor and too big to be a satellite and is shaped like a classic disk. Amazing thing to see in night vision isn't it?

Famous Astronomer Clyde Tombaugh Personal UFO Sighting, Man Who Discovered Pluto, Video, UFO Sighting News.

Tombaugh was probably the preeminent astronomer to have reported seeing Unidentified Flying Objects. On August 20, 1949, Tombaugh saw several UFOs near Las Cruces, New Mexico. He described them as six to eight rectangular lights, stating "I doubt that the phenomenon was any terrestrial reflection, because... nothing of the kind has ever appeared before or since... I was so unprepared for such a strange sight that I was really petrified with astonishment." 

Tombaugh was also later to report having seen three of the mysterious Green Fireballs, which suddenly appeared over New Mexico in late 1948 and continued at least through the early 1950s. In 1956 Tombaugh had the following to say about his various sightings: 

"I have seen three objects in the last seven years which defied any explanation of known phenomenon, such as Venus, atmospheric optic, meteors or planes. I am a professional, highly skilled, professional astronomer. In addition I have seen three green fireballs which were unusual in behavior from normal green fireballs...I think that several reputable scientists are being unscientific in refusing to entertain the possibility of extraterrestrial origin and nature." 

In 1949, Tombaugh had also told the Naval missile director at White Sands Missile Range, Commander Robert McLaughlin, that he had seen a bright flash on Mars in August 1941, which he now attributed to an atomic blast (mentioned May 12, 1949, in a letter from McLaughlin to Dr. James van Allen). [3] Tombaugh also noted that the first atomic bomb tested in New Mexico would have lit up the dark side of the Earth like a neon sign and that Mars was coincidentally quite close at the time, the implication apparently being that the atomic test would have been visible from Mars. 

In June 1952, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, an astronomer acting as a scientific consultant to the Air Force's Project Blue Book UFO study, secretly conducted a survey of fellow astronomers on UFO sightings and attitudes while attending an astronomy convention. Tombaugh and four other astronomers told Hynek about their sightings, including Dr. Lincoln La Paz of the University of New Mexico. Tombaugh also told Hynek that his telescopes were at the Air Force's disposal for taking photos of UFOs, if he was properly alerted.

I shot this video from my backyard in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas, Nevada on the night of January 28, 2017.
They could have been brighter at times but I was very happy to see that a group of UFOs had returned to the Black Mountains in Henderson, Nevada. It has been six months or so since I last observed UFOs in groups over in this spot. I left the video running at actual speed even though it’s more than thirty minutes long because of suggestions I have been getting from viewers. It should have occurred to me to turn the night vision camera on earlier. No doubt some folks will claim that these are ATVs moving around on the mountain but they aren’t. What gives that away is the fact that the UFOs are lining up in a perfectly horizontal row on several occasions which would be nearly impossible if they were on the ground because the terrain on the mountain is so uneven. I think that there is an excellent possibility that these UFOs belong to the same group I film regularly in the Blue Diamond Hills on the west side of the valley closer to my home.

Witness report: 

4 objects appeared, fifth came around 20 sec. later. 4 moved in formation. Then sep. moving south. Not drones. I came out of work at app. 1125pm est on break. East side of parking lot. Saw first object through trees app. 20 degrees moving towards me. Thought it was work helicopter, then app. 5 sec later 3 more objects came behind first one. Hurried and snapped 2 pictures while walking towards middle of parking, heading east. Thought then it was drones but objects made no noise and started turning south while ascending to app. 250-300ft. Snapped another picture from middle of parking, looked to see if anyone else was out there, heard voices but didnt see anyone. Started recording video then and continued walking towards end/ back of the east parking area. Thats when 5th object appeared still from east but this one was heading more sw, 4 object were now heading south, at this time heard what sounded like a shotgun. Stopped recording, got in car pulled on work road and started driving down bacck side of work heading south, objects were now about 500 to 750 feet up, there was low clouds moving through area at this time, 5th object was still catching up to other 4, i was looking out left side driver window, trying to get to darker area of work, object moved higher into clouds. There was no erratic movement, thought maybe they might have been chinese lanterns. They moved smooth and when they turned south still maintained stright line movement but gradual ascension. Didn’t get opportunity to record again, whole episode lasted between 5 to 10 minutes, about 1/8th of a mile east is open grazing field areas, maybe 1/4 mile is cow fields, all east and south of where i work. Airport is further east, about 2 miles. Wasnt windy out, light breeze, about 42 degrees f. Went back into work, showed coworkers pictures and video, asked what they thought, all said not drones or lanterns, or plane or helicopter,

National Leader Urged The U.N. To Take A Serious Look On UFO Sightings

WikiLeaks has revealed that a national leader went to the UN with proof of UFOs. Grenadian PM Sir Eric Gairy reportedly came before the U.N. in 1978 hearing with strong personal conviction that UFOs are real and of global importance and significance.

The PM stressed the need for the UN to take responsibilities and a serious consideration of the UFO phenomenon happening on many parts of the world.

A leaked diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks with evidence of a remarkable chapter in the history of U.N. revealed that Grenadian PM Sir Eric Gairy addressed the special political committee on Agenda Item 126 and proposed a resolution that would establish a group of expert to set guidelines for U.N. UFO Study.

Dr. Friday followed PM Gairy and four other speakers, who argued in favor of a U.N. clearing house for data exchanges and UFO research coordination.

A short film supplemented the speakers. It consisted of motion and still pictures spliced together to show actual UFO sightings.

According to a 2014 Harris poll, 77% pf Americans believe that there’s evidence extraterrestrials or space aliens have visited planet Earth.

Conspiracy theorists think that the U.S. government has concealed the facts on UFOs and aliens from the public for many decades.

Florida Woman Notices Streaking UFO While Waiting For A Rocket Launch

An unnamed witness at Titusville in Florida reported seeing an oval-shaped flying across the sky shrouded in what she described a bright, meteor-like light while waiting for the launch of an Atlas V rocket. The report is filed in Case 81674 in the witness reporting database of Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

According to the report, the strange event took place on January 19, 2017, at around 8 in the evening. The reporting witness, together with her husband, was in the viewing bleachers for the Atlas V rocket launch, which carries a missile-detecting satellite.

The witness said that it came to her mind that UFOs sometimes show in launches, so she decided to look at the sky while standing in the bleachers. She looked towards the east when she spotted nearby a brilliant, yellow-green, wide light.  She yelled to call the attention of some other people sitting in the bleachers, but the UFO was so fast that many had missed it. She said that the woman behind her thought it was just a meteor. However, she was convinced there was something in it.

Just before the streak of light disappeared, the reporting witness claimed she saw part of something metallic with a seam and shape that was rounded. However, she only observed a small part of the object as the yellow/green light obscured most areas.

The launch was canceled because of a wayward aircraft in the rocket’s flight path. They all got on the buses and left, but she was still filled with excitement as she believed she had a UFO sighting. She reportedly checked the internet and could not find any record of a meteor when she noticed the UFO.

Waarom heeft Ceres maar één ijsvulkaan?

Op Ceres is slechts één ijsvulkaan te vinden. Ahuna Mons steekt vier kilometer boven het oppervlak van de dwergplaneet uit. Waar zijn de andere ijsvulkanen gebleven?

Onderzoekers vermoeden dat Ceres miljoenen jaren geleden meer ijsvulkanen had, maar dat deze in de loop van de tijd zijn verdwenen. Niet door erosie, zoals vulkanen en bergen op aarde, maar omdat ze als een pudding zijn ingezakt.

Ieder vast object kan vloeien. De snelheid waarmee dit gebeurt verschilt echter per object. Wanneer je een emmer water in je woonkamer giet, dan vloeit het water direct weg. Wanneer je eenzelfde hoeveelheid klei op de vloer smijt, vloeit dit minder snel weg. Dit komt omdat klei visceus is en dus moeilijk van vorm verandert. Maar als je heel lang kijkt, zul je zien dat zelfs klei uiteindelijk een andere vorm aanneemt.

Dit geldt ook voor waterijs. Waterijs kan van vorm veranderen en zich verplaatsen zonder te smelten. Dit is bijvoorbeeld hoe gletsjers op aarde bewegen. Ceres bestaat voor een groot deel uit waterijs, dus het oppervlak kan hier dus ook stromen. Maar omdat het waterijs visceus is, verandert het heel traag van vorm.

Ahuna Mons: een steenpuist op het relatief egale oppervlak van Ceres.

Stroperige ijsvulkanen
Het oppervlak van Ceres verandert sneller dan het oppervlak van ijsmanen als Europa, Titan, Triton en Enceladus. “Dit komt vooral door hitte”, zegt wetenschapper Michael Sori. “Als je een potje honing opwarmt in de magnetron, dan stroomt honing veel sneller dan op kamertemperatuur.” Ceres is 410 miljoen kilometer van de zon verwijderd, wat dichterbij is dan de ijsmanen van de gasplaneten.

Mogelijk zijn alle ijsvulkanen, met uitzondering van Ahuna Mons, in de loop der jaren verdwenen. Ahuna Mons is een jonge vulkaan van slechts 200 miljoen jaar oud. Waarschijnlijk is er nog niet genoeg tijd geweest om de ijsvulkaan te laten krimpen.

Andere ijsvulkanen
Als er ooit meerdere ijsvulkanen zijn geweest op Ceres, dan zijn hier mogelijk nog sporen van te zien. Astronomen hebben mogelijk al een ingezakte ijsvulkaan op het oog. Het gaat om een platte koepel onder Ahuna Mons, die in een periode van 500 miljoen jaar is ingezakt. Wellicht is Ahuna Mons niet alleen…

Andere mysteries
Om Ceres draait de Dawn-ruimtesonde. Dawn kwam in maart 2015 aan en heeft het oppervlak van de dwergplaneet volledig in kaart gebracht. Er zijn meer mysteries. Zo zijn veel grote kraters op mysterieuze wijze verdwenen en zijn er ook bijzondere witte vlekken op Ceres gespot. Mogelijk worden deze witte vlekken veroorzaakt door zouten, die na verdamping van zout waterijs zijn achtergebleven op het oppervlak van het hemellichaam.

Zo zag je de ringen van Saturnus nog nooit!

Ruimtesonde Cassini komt met de beste foto’s die ooit van de buitenste ringen van Saturnus zijn gemaakt. De details zijn ongelofelijk!

Cassini maakte de foto’s tijdens zijn ‘Ring-Grazing Orbits‘. Tijdens deze fase van de missie scheert Cassini twintig keer op zeer kleine afstand langs de buitenste ringen. Het leverde eerder al prachtige foto’s op van de maantjes die zich hier ophouden (bekijk deze foto’s hier en hier). En nu resulteert het dus in adembenemende close-up foto’s van de ringen zelf.

Er gebeurt van alles
Van een afstandje zien de ringen van Saturnus er heel vredig en rustig uit. Maar de nieuwe beelden laten zien dat er van alles in de ringen gebeurt. Zo zijn op de foto’s tal van kleine verstoringen in de ringen te zien. Deze worden ook wel ‘propellers’ genoemd en ontstaan door de aanwezigheid van kleine, nog niet waargenomen maantjes. En dan zijn er ook nog de grotere manen die met hun zwaartekracht trekken aan de deeltjes waaruit de ringen zijn opgebouwd.

De komende maanden zal Cassini de buitenste ringen nog verder bestuderen. Eind april breekt dan een nieuwe – en laatste – fase in de ruimtemissie aan. Dan zal Cassini herhaaldelijk in de ruimte tussen Saturnus en zijn ringen duiken. Aan die missiefase komt eind september een einde wanneer Cassini – na zo’n twintig jaar werkzaam te zijn geweest – opdracht krijgt om zich in de atmosfeer van Saturnus te boren.

The latest incident regarding an alien cover-up occurred on January 20, 2017, when NASA's International Space Station (ISS) suddenly stopped its live feed while a luminous UFO suddenly appeared in front of the camera.

The video feed was resumed after 35 seconds; a message stating that the hindrance was caused because there was either "temporary loss of signal" or they were "switching cameras" was put up on the live ISS YouTube channel.

Alien hunters and UFO experts think that the strange orb of light that was seen before the live video footage went off the air was either a UFO or some brand new military technology the government wants to keep top secret, according to Science World Report.

"I have seen myself, at least a dozen times, where there is video of some sort of object coming close to the International Space Station -- moving around in many cases -- and all of a sudden they just cut the feed," online blogger Bright Insight, revealed.

"Either it's aliens or it is top secret technology that is being suppressed from the masses," Bright Insight said further.

This was the fourth time NASA abruptly stopped its live feed over a span of seven months, Daily Star reported.

Way back in July 2016, a light-emitting spacecraft was seen entering the Earth's atmosphere in the live ISS feed and the video was immediately cut.

Similar instances took place again after three months. Popular UFO YouTubers and UFOlogists have also observed the dropping of feeds taking place when an alien craft is seen in the footage.

"NASA cuts the camera feed so quickly even though this was very distant," Streetcap1, a UFOlogist said, as reported by Daily Star.

"But I still managed to get a couple of frames to enlarge," Streetcap1 added.

In another instance an astronaut on the ISS tries to cover the UFO sighting by putting his hand in front of the camera as soon as an alien object passes by.

"We have an astronaut working on the International Space Station where we not only see a UFO fly overhead, but we are also going to see the astronaut attempt to hide this activity by putting his hand in front of the camera. And he actually does this a couple of times," says Tyler, from UFO hunting group Secure Team who posted the footage on his secureteam10 YouTube channel.

So far no response has been received from NASA regarding these recurring "co-incidents". 

Social media sites have also allegedly been trying to cover up such sightings, such as the recent instance of UFO sighting along the US-Mexico border, which was filmed and uploaded by a girl on Instagram, and the video was subsequently removed. 

Similarly, photos and videos of unknown craft hovering over Turkey were trending on Twitter with the hashtag #UFOAttacktoTurkey, which was then censored by the microblogging site. This resulted in annoyed usersposting about it more actively with an attempt to bring out the truth and spread the news about the sighting.

Keen-eyed conspiracy theorists spotted a strange circular object on Google Earth satellite images of Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory near Los Angeles.

Some alien hunters claimed that the object was a flying saucer parked on the runway.

But Nasa engineers have since debunked the theory by taking a selfie with the mystery shape.

Nasa scientist Dr Nacer Chahat tweeted the photo earlier today.

In response to Twitter user @ufoofinterest, who had posted a link to an article on the so-called UFO, he wrote: 'Here is what you think is a UFO. The only alien is me.'

Dr Chahat's picture shows him stood with a colleague near the object, which appears to be a storage container.

'I doubt this is a captured extraterrestrial flying saucer, more likely it is a structure or vehicle that has a flying saucer shape,' Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, told MailOnline earlier this week.

The JPL is the birthplace of America's first satellite to orbit the Earth back in 1958. It now acts as the headquarters for several upcoming exploratory missions to study distant planets and asteroids

'Secondly, why would they leave it out in the open to be spotted by the likes of Google Earth?

'Seeing strange anomalies on Google seems to be the latest craze that is rivalling the watching of live images from the International Space Station to get a glimpse of UFOs.

'In most of these instances we see what we look for.'

This is not the first time that UFO Hunters have used Google's satellite technology to make bizarre claims about aliens.

Earlier this month a self-proclaimed ufologist claimed footage of himself fighting and being abducted by aliens had been caught on camera by Google maps.

A man who called himself John Mooner, from Newton Abbot in Devon, claimed a 'real alien abduction' has been captured taking place on Google's satellite cameras.

THE 'ABDUCTION'

Mr Mooner claimed he does not remember the abduction at all, but is convinced it is himself in the footage.

'I do remember sporadic episodes of missing time throughout the year of 2016 and going back through the previous years,' he said.

He is convinced from looking at a series of pictures that he was abducted.

'The shocking thing about this was that it's me being abducted by a grey alien and the satellite image clearly shows me trying to fight off the grey alien by punching it in the face,' he said. 

'I was having trouble with the Google Earth app that was installed on my computer so I looked for an online option and found Google satellite maps,' Mr Mooner told the Torquay Herald Express.

'I thought to myself I will view the area where I was UFO spotted from last year and look for anything out of the ordinary. 

'I was left speechless by what I saw.

'The satellite has captured a real alien abduction taking place.'

The pictures were released by Mr Mooner, who claims he took them from Google maps.

Where exactly the abduction took place is unknown.

'The shocking thing about this was that it's me being abducted by a grey alien and the satellite image clearly shows me trying to fight off the grey alien by punching it in the face,' he said.

Mr Mooner claims he does not remember the abduction at all, but is convinced it is himself in the footage. 'I do however remember sporadic episodes of missing time throughout the year of 2016 and going back through the previous years,' he said

'Looking at the image it appears that the alien has blocked my punch and has grabbed my fist and must of been able to subdue me [sic].'

So What Really is the Deal With the Marfa Lights?

Out in West Texas, on a wide shoulder of Highway 90 in the desert, curious people gather most every night to view a ghostly phenomenon. As dusk begins to fall, strange lights appear to hover in the air and then disappear unprompted. The lights have been described as otherworldly. Some find them friendly, and others, sinister. Witnesses claim to see the lights dart in one direction or another, change color, and apparently dissolve just as swiftly as they appeared. The Marfa Lights, as they’re known, are a largely mysterious phenomenon that have confounded and intrigued Texans for generations. But just what exactly are they? Let’s do some research.

Real or imaginary?

First and foremost it’s important to point out that the lights are not a figment of the collective imagination of a gullible public. The Marfa Lights have been well-documented by scientists and celebrities. If you go to the Marfa Light Viewing Center, you are likely to see them for yourself. James Dean is said to have been so obsessed with them during the filming of the movie Giantthat he would keep a telescope on him at night to catch glimpses of them.

Ghost lights are an ancient phenomenon that occur worldwide. Some people call them will-o-the-wisps, while others refer to them as swamp lights or orbs. It’s hard to say exactly when the Marfa lights first appeared. There are reports of sightings dating back to the 19th century, but the first known printed account of them showed up in a 1957 issue of Coronet Magazine, where they were referred to as “the Texas Ghost Lights.”

Supernatural or simply nature?

Theories abound as to just what causes them. Some people believe the lights are paranormal in essence. That they are perhaps ethereal spirits, the luminous remains of lost souls. Some posit that they are alien in nature, possibly UFOs. The skeptics tend to believe the lights are merely atmospheric reflections of campfires and the headlights of cars passing on a nearby roadway.

There are two notable studies on the Marfa Lights. One was done by Society of Physics students at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2004. Another study was conducted four years later by a group of scientists from Texas State University. The Texas State scientists spent 20 nights using spectroscopic technology to observe the lights. Both studies came to similar conclusions, that the Marfa Lights were most likely caused by the headlights of cars driving by on Highway 67, or by small campfires in the distance.

Although, some people who have seen the lights vehemently deny this solution. Michael Hall wrote a piece on the subject for Texas Monthly in 2006 entitled “The Truth is Out There.” Hall’s article explored both magical and scientific explanations for the lights.

“My wife and I got married in Alpine six years ago, and the night before, the wedding party wound up at the viewing area.Alcohol was involved, and so was a lot of loud talk. There were more than a dozen of us, and just as a funny movie is funnier with a group of friends, so is a mystery more mysterious. We all agreed—no way those were car lights,” Hall wrote.

Hall wanted badly to believe, but after doing his own research (involving telescopes, binoculars, experts, first-hand testimony and even strobe lights) even he had his doubts.

Some people enjoy the mystery of the lights even more than the lights themselves, though. Julie Mangum saw the lights during her time attending Sul Ross University in Alpine. 

“It’s the strangest thing to ponder. It absolutely blows my mind just like how space never ends, or like what does it mean to not exist. You don’t always see them when you go and they never are the same every time you’re there. It’s really a great mystery and I don’t know if I really want it solved.”

Could they be a desert mirage?

In general, ghost lights are considered evasive and mysterious, popping up in random places in the dark of night with few witnesses. However, in Texas, the Marfa Lights are easily spotted from the same location nearly every night. That would suggest that what we’re seeing is not supernatural, but something rational that perhaps has been distorted, causing it to seem unfamiliar.

One way that the Marfa Lights could be car lights and also appear mystical is if they were being disguised through an optical illusion. There is one such optical illusion that is actually very common in most parts of Texas. In fact, you’ve probably experienced it yourself. Picture this: you’re driving down a long stretch of highway in the summer. The road is baking with heat. The temperature is creeping up toward the triple digits, and there is not a cloud in the sky. Suddenly, up ahead the road appears to be wet. Did a sudden shower move through the area right before you drove in? No, that can’t be right either, because as you near the watery section of road, it appears to dry before your eyes.

What you’re actually seeing is an optical illusion commonly known as “heat haze” or “heat shimmer.” It occurs when extreme heat near the surface of the road refracts the light from the sky. In simple terms, the ground becomes a mirror and reflects the sky. During daylight hours when there’s not much on the horizon, your brain interprets this heat haze as water. However, the haze can actually create a mirror image (also known as an inverted mirage) when it’s in front of something large like a mountain. The effect of which is to make something in the distance seem to appear upside down, like it’s being reflected in a pool of water that simply isn’t there. Now imagine what that would do to car headlights traveling along a road, or campfire lights at night.

Paradoxically, a mirage could even be to blame when the weather is cold. Cold air mirages are known as “superior mirages.” They happen when the air close to the ground is colder than the air above it. They are more common in polar regions than in the arid West Texas desert, but it’s one possible explanation.

However, you also have to take into consideration that there were reports of ghost lights in this area in the 1850’s, before Texas even had roads. Or cars. Could it really be lost souls? Maybe. No one really knows what happens after this life. It could be camp-fires. Hell, that close to New Mexico, it could really be aliens. We may never know.

Wat gebeurt er met het menselijke lichaam als je een jaar in de ruimte verblijft? Onderzoekers van de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA zetten een uniek experiment op met een identieke tweeling, waarvan één broer naar het internationaal ruimtestation ISS reisde en de andere op aarde bleef. Bedoeling was om data te vergelijken van voor, tijdens en na de missie. Intussen zijn de eerste resultaten binnen en die zijn opmerkelijk te noemen. Zo veranderde het DNA van de broer die in de ruimte verbleef en werd hij groter.

Het waren Scott en Mark Kelly die voor proefkonijn speelden in het onderzoek. Scott reisde naar het ISS, waar hij een jaar gewichtloos leefde, voormalig astronaut Mark bleef gewoon op aarde. Doel was om te weten te komen wat een langer verblijf in de ruimte met de mens doet met het oog op een bemande missie naar onze buurplaneet Mars. Tien groepen wetenschappers bestuderen nu de informatie die ze uit de missie verkregen, elk in hun eigen vakgebied. Het gaat onder meer om het effect op het immuunsysteem, de beenderen en het DNA. 

Chromosomen
Wat bleek? De chromosomen van Scott waren langer geworden tijdens zijn verblijf in de ruimte, terwijl ze op aarde net korter worden als je ouder wordt. Dat kwam doordat de zogenaamde 'telomeren' op het einde van zijn chromosomen - die chromosomen beschermen voor afsterven en versmelten met andere chromosomen - langer waren geworden. De onderzoekers vermoeden dat het te wijten is aan het feit dat Scott meer bewoog en sportte en minder calorieën opnam in het ruimtestation. Toen hij weer op aarde was, werden ze opnieuw korter. Het effect ervan moet nog worden onderzocht.

Scott had ook een verminderende botvorming, maar het niveau van een hormoon dat helpt om beenderen en spieren gezond te houden, was wel hoger geworden. Vermoedelijk door het vele sporten. Het niveau van het stresshormoon cortisol bleef normaal, met uitzondering van het moment net na zijn landing op aarde. Vermoedelijk door de stress van zijn terugkeer in de atmosfeer. Scott was ook 5 centimeter groter geworden bij zijn terugkomst. 

Kracht
Een ander belangrijk resultaat met betrekking tot een potentiële reis naar Mars was de verminderde kracht van Scott. Na zes maanden in de ruimte blijkt het steeds moeilijker om taken snel en efficiënt uit te voeren, zelfs als ze vitaal zijn voor het overleven. Dat wezen fysieke tests aan, zoals het beklimmen van ladders, het openen van luiken en het ontwijken van obstakels. Ook de fijne motoriek ging achteruit, zoals bij het bedienen van computermateriaal. Net als de cognitieve vaardigheden van Scott. 

Probleem
Toen Scott weer op de aarde landde, werd hij door hulpverleners uit zijn capsule geholpen. Dat zal niet het geval zijn op Mars, waar de astronauten op zichzelf aangewezen zijn. Een potentieel probleem, ook al denkt Scott dat het daar makkelijker zal gaan omdat er minder zwaartekracht is.

De resultaten zijn vooralsnog voorlopig en moeten nog verder worden onderzocht. Later dit jaar zou de NASA met een diepgaander en uitgebreider verslag komen. "Belangrijk is wel dat we voorlopig nog niets hebben gevonden dat een langere ruimtereis zoals naar Mars in de weg kan staan", aldus nog onderzoeker John Charles.

This is a video posted by Ovnis Actuales of Youtube.  As a white UFO disk is seen in the far distance, a father of a family becomes excited, but the others near him blow it off as nothing, until a second UFO disk appears even close to them and more clear than ever. Thats when the woman notices and screams.  Watch a 2:20 to see the closest UFO move through a cloud. 

These UFOs appeared over the ocean in Chile because they were either getting ready to enter or exist the under water alien base in the area. If they were leaving, then they need to rise up and let the water flow off of them before they enter space. The water on the UFO would cause complications during flight through space at high speeds.

This is a very fascinating report sent in today and I have to admit its got me stumped. Most UFOs wont make a cloud unless its to hide in or to make cloud tunnels. I have even seen a three arm starfish UFO rotating like a slow fan inside of a cloud before, but this is really amazing. The photos were sent in HD and are included in the file above you can use them as you wish. 

The UFO seen in the photos is a disk shape and is glowing incredibly. The sides of the disk are not glowing, but its center is. The UFO seems to have lost control and was crashing to earth somewhere in the forest hills of BC. The fact that it depended slowly rules out meteor. The fact that its perfectly shaped like a disk rules out jet, rocket or satellite. So, all we have left is an alien craft falling to earth as if its been attacked, possibly shot down with the old Ronald Reagan Star Wars satellites which have missiles on them to attack. There is actually a video from long ago of a missile shooting at a UFO and the UFO suddenly makes a hard right turn to avoid it. I will include that old video below.

These same type of objects were witnessed on two occasions. Yesterday I was out on the back porch when my husband pointed out what looked to me like a jet at first. It was a quick presumption on my part and due to the cloud like trails it was leaving behind. But with a bit more observation it became obvious that it was not. It was moving far too slow to be a jet and was falling toward the ground. Looking through the binoculars I could see two bright orbs of light at the leading edge which seemed to separate slightly from one another. The decent was far slower than I imagine gravity would bring a solid object down. It took at least five minutes to get from mid sky to where I could no longer see it behind the trees. Around the same time today my husband came in to tell me that there was another one in the sky. This time I thought to grab my camera. It looked and acted almost identical to yesterday's sighting, a bright circle of light falling at a slow rate of speed leaving two trails behind it. Two very fast jets flew across the sky from west to east in the same area as it descend. When I lost sight of it behind the trees I took a look around and spotted another one higher in the sky but in the same southern direction. It too look as though it was falling to the ground and at the same slow rate of speed. This one however broke into four segments but all four fell at the same rate. Another jet flew by shortly before I lost sight of it. And then another, but this one came from the east, did a quick turn about above the falling object and returned east. These jets were far faster than commercial airlines fly. I did and still do feel a bit bewildered by what I saw and am very curious to know what exactly I witnessed.

Giant UFO Disk Near Our Sun, But You Wont Hear It From NASA, Feb 2, 2017, Video, UFO Sighting News.

Here is a great find by UFOnearSun of Youtube today. He found an actual alien craft that is orbiting our sun. The UFO size would be nearly that of the our moon if we made it flat. However the UFO may be closer to the SOHO sun satellite and it may only be several times bigger than our space station. Actual proof directly from NASA and SOHO gov agencies.

This was found by UFO Case Book, its one of the most reliable and trustworthy sites on the net today. This video shows us only a few seconds of footage, but its all we need to see that its rotating slightly as it moves forward. The UFO has many several antenna like appendages sticking out. One on top, one on bottom and another two sticking out its front area. Many classic UFOs have been seen to have an arial antenna on top and some on the center bottom. The eyewitness says it was shaped like a dome...a disk. Nice catch.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - 01-31-17 - I was taking my dog outside. I first noticed the object because it flew from over the field across my house. I had no idea what to think about the object when I first saw it, my only instinct was to get out my phone and start recording because it definitely wasn't something I had ever seen before. I first saw the object when it flew over the trees across from my house and flew quite quickly in a straight pattern over and away from my house. It was shaped like a dome with a slight point on top, and some type of string like appendage hanging from it. It was dark in color. My feelings on the object are quite mixed. I've always been on the fence as far as paranormal occurrences. But when I saw this thing I was just so intrigued, and I genuinely can't explain what this might be. I lost sight of object when it disappeared over the hills behind my house. There is a filter on the video I'm sending because I had put it on my Snapchat story.

Pas ontdekte 'leegte in de ruimte' duwt ons sterrenstelsel weg

Nieuw onderzoek toont aan dat er niet alleen aan de Melkweg getrokken wordt. Ons sterrenstelsel wordt ook geduwd.

Je bent je er waarschijnlijk niet zo van bewust, maar we zijn continu in beweging. Zo draait de aarde met een snelheid van zo’n 1600 kilometer per uur om haar as en met zo’n 100.000 kilometer per uur om de zon heen. Die zon draait weer met een snelheid van zo’n 850.000 kilometer per uur om het centrum van de Melkweg heen. Voel je jezelf al duizelig? Het wordt nog gekker. Want de Melkweg haast zich – samen met het Andromeda-stelsel – weer met een snelheid van zo’n 630 kilometer per seconde (2 miljoen kilometer per uur) door de ruimte.

Trekken
Grote vraag is natuurlijk waarom de Melkweg – en het Andromedastelsel – zich zo snel door de ruimte bewegen. In eerste instantie dachten onderzoekers dat de Great Attractor de boosdoener was. Dit is een gebied dat zo’n 150 miljoen lichtjaar van de Melkweg verwijderd is en zo’n zes clusters van sterrenstelsels bevat. En die clusters zouden met hun enorme zwaartekracht aan de Melkweg trekken. Niet veel later wezen onderzoekers nog een andere boosdoener aan: de Shapley Concentration. Het ligt zo’n 600 miljoen lichtjaar voorbij de Great Attractor en bestaat uit meer dan 24 clusters. Het moge duidelijk zijn: er zijn enorme structuren in de ruimte die aan ons sterrenstelsel trekken.

Duwen
Maar daarmee is het verhaal nog niet compleet, zo stellen onderzoekers nu in het blad Nature Astronomy. Want er wordt niet alleen aan de Melkweg getrokken. Ons sterrenstelsel wordt ook geduwd. En wel door een tot voor kort onbekend, groot, relatief leeg gebied. De onderzoekers hebben het de Dipole Repeller gedoopt.

Net zo belangrijk
De onderzoekers bestudeerden hoe sterrenstelsels zich door de ruimte bewogen. “We ontdekten dat onze Melkweg zich weg haast van een grote, nog niet eerder geïdentificeerde regio met een lage dichtheid,” vertelt onderzoeker Yehuda Hoffman. “Omdat het gebied afstoot in plaats van aantrekt, hebben we het de Dipole Repeller genoemd. We worden dus niet alleen aangetrokken door de bekende Shapley Concentration, maar ook weggeduwd door de nieuw ontdekte Dipole Repeller. Blijkbaar zijn dit geduw en getrek allebei net zo belangrijk voor onze locatie.”

Het is niet voor het eerst dat onderzoekers suggereren dat er een gebied met een lage dichtheid is die onze Melkweg wegduwt. Maar het bleek eerder lastig te zijn om de afwezigheid van sterrenstelsels in zo’n gebied aan te tonen. Dat is onderzoekers nu dus wel gelukt. De wetenschappers verwachten dat het in de toekomst met zeer gevoelige telescopen mogelijk moet zijn om de weinige sterrenstelsels die zich in de lege ruimte – die zij Dipole Repeller hebben genoemd – bevinden, waar te nemen. En daarmee zou het bestaan van deze afstotende leegte onomstotelijk bewezen zijn.

Al miljarden jaren regent het regelmatig zuurstof op de maan. Die zuurstof is afkomstig van de aarde en waarschijnlijk gegenereerd in de biosfeer.

De zonnewind bombardeert de maan bijna continu. Alleen wanneer de aarde tussen de maan en de zon in staat, weet de maan zich beschermt tegen de zonnewind. Het magnetisch veld van de aarde buigt de zonnewind dan af.

Ionen
Maar dat wil niet zeggen dat de maan dan helemaal niets te vrezen heeft. Want wanneer de aarde tussen de maan en de zon instaat kunnen ionen – afkomstig van de aarde – de maan bereiken. Eerder toonden onderzoekers al aan dat van de aarde afkomstige ionen van stikstof en andere edelgassen in die periode op de maan regenen. Nieuw onderzoek suggereert nu echter dat ook een ander belangrijk gas – zuurstof – zijn weg naar de maan weet te vinden op het moment dat de aarde tussen de maan en de zon in staat.

Zuurstof
Dat schrijven Japanse onderzoekers in het blad Nature Astronomy. Ze baseren zich op waarnemingen van de Japanse maansonde Kaguya. Deze sonde verzamelde de betreffende gegevens toen deze – samen met de maan – door de aarde tegen de zonnewind beschermd werd. De gegevens tonen aan dat de maan – wanneer de aarde tussen de zon en de maan in staat – bekogeld wordt door zuurstofionen. Deze ionen komen dan terecht in een micrometer diepe laag maangrond.

Al een tijdje
En dit hele proces speelt al een tijdje. Al sinds zuurstof in significante concentraties in de atmosfeer te vinden is. Dus al zo’n 2,5 miljard jaar. Nog fascinerender wordt het als je bedenkt dat het grootste deel van de zuurstof in de atmosfeer van de aarde gegenereerd wordt door aardse organismen. Het betekent dus dat de maan regelmatig ‘besmet’ wordt met door aardse wezens gegenereerde elementen.

Het onderzoek is interessant, omdat het suggereert dat we wellicht meer te weten kunnen komen over de aardse atmosfeer in vroeger tijden door de maangrond te bestuderen. Dat wil overigens niet zeggen dat we de geschiedenis van de aardse atmosfeer moeiteloos uit de maangrond kunnen aflezen. De onderzoekers benadrukken dat het lastig zal zijn om onderscheid te maken tussen de bijdragen die de zonnewind en de aarde – in de periode dat deze tussen de zon en de maan in staat – aan de maangrond levert.

Hubble Reveals the Wondrous Aftermath of a Star's Death

The blossoming rose of this distant nebula continues to awe astronomers as the star gives one last spectacular show before its death.

This image of the Cat’s Eye Nebula, NGC 6543, was taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and digitally enhanced by artist Raul Villaverde to show all of the activity bursting from the central star.

The Cat's Eye Nebula is a wonder to scientists. 

Scientists are still perplexed by the outer layers surrounding the dying star but theorize that they are produced by convulsions from the star. Like a pulsing heart, the immense energy is pushing out cosmic dust in waves creating a petal-like formation around the Cat’s Eye.

Another theory is that the center star might actually be a binary star system, in which two very close stars are dying simultaneously. Their orbits are still feeding off of each other and may even be gravitationally distorting each other’s atmospheres. This highly magnetized relationship is producing a giant cloud of combined star matter — mostly hydrogen and helium particles — encompassing all other stars and planets around it.

The Cat’s Eye sits in the constellation Draco within the Milky Way and is a thousand times the size of our solar system, spanning nearly half a light year across.

Scientists believe this is the phase our sun will be whirling toward in a matter of 5 billion years. Leaving Earth and the rest of our solar system in total disarray. The Cat’s Eye is a not-so-subtle reminder that life is fleeting and nothing in our universe is constant.

FBI Quietly Declassified Secret Files Attesting Hitler Fled to Argentina in 1945

On April 30 1945, Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his underground bunker. His body was later discovered and identified by the Soviets before being rushed back to Russia. Or was it?

Newly declassified FBI documents prove that the government knew Hitler was alive and well, and living in the Andes Mountains long after World War II.

Is it really possible that the Soviets have been lying all this time, and that history has purposely been rewritten?

No one thought so until the release of the FBI documents. It seems that it is possible that the most hated man in history escaped war torn Germany and lived a bucolic and peaceful life in the beautiful foothills of the Andes Mountains.

The Intelligence Community Knew

Recently released FBI documents are beginning to show that not only was Hitler and Eva Braun’s suicide faked, the infamous pair might have had help from the Swiss Director of the United States OSS himself, Allen Dulles.

In one FBI document from Los Angles, it is revealed that the agency was well aware of a mysterious submarine making its way up the Argentinian coast dropping off high level Nazi officials. What is even more astonishing is the fact that the FBI knew he was in fact living in the foothills of the Andes.

Who is the Mysterious Informant?

In a Los Angeles letter to the Bureau in August of 1945, an unidentified informant agreed to exchange information for political asylum. What he told agents was stunning.

The informant not only knew Hitler was in Argentina, he was one of the confirmed four men who had met the German submarine. Apparently, two submarines had landed on the Argentinian coast, and Hitler with Eva Braun was on board the second.

The Argentinian government not only welcomed the former German dictator, but also aided in his hiding. The informant went on to not only give detailed directions to the villages that Hitler and his party had passed through, but also credible physical details concerning Hitler.

While for obvious reasons the informant is never named in the FBI papers, he was credible enough to be believed by some agents.

The FBI Tried to Hide Hitler’s Whereabouts

Even with a detailed physical description and directions the FBI still did not follow up on these new leads. 

Even with evidence placing the German sub U-530 on the Argentinian coast shortly before finally surrounding, and plenty of eye witness accounts of German official being dropped off, no one investigated.

Even More Evidence is Found

Along with the FBI documents detailing an eye witness account of Hitler’s whereabouts in Argentina, more evidence is coming to light to help prove that Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun did not die in that bunker.

In 1945, the Naval Attaché in Buenos Aires informed Washington there was a high probability that Hitler and Eva Braun had just arrived in Argentina. 

This coincides with the sightings of the submarine U-530. Added proof comes in the form of newspaper articles detailing the construction of a Bavarian styled mansion in the foothills of the Andes Mountains.

Further proof comes in the form of architect Alejandro Bustillo who wrote about his design and construction of Hitler’s new home which was financed by earlier wealthy German immigrants.

Irrefutable Evidence that Hitler Escaped

Perhaps the most damming evidence that Hitler did survive the fall of Germany lies in Russia. With the Soviet occupation of Germany, Hitler’s supposed remains were quickly hidden and sent off to Russia, never to be seen again. 

That is until 2009, when an archeologist from Connecticut State, Nicholas Bellatoni was allowed to perform DNA testing on one of the skull fragments recovered.

What he discovered set off a reaction through the intelligence and scholarly communities. Not only did the DNA not match any recorded samples thought to be Hitler’s, they did not match Eva Braun’s familiar DNA either. So the question is, what did the Soviets discover in the bunker, and where is Hitler?

Even former general and President Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote to Washington.

It was not only General Eisenhower who was concerned over Hitler’s compete disappearance, Stalin also expressed his concerns. 

In 1945, the Stars and Stripes newspaper quoted then General Eisenhower as believing that the real possibility existed of Hitler living safely and comfortably in Argentina.

For those of you who think Hitler could not have lived for so long without people identifying him, please note that even a slight change in appearance can alter a person's entire physiognomy:

The first one is a genuine picture of Adolf Hitler and the following five were made by Eddie Senz, a New York make-up artist, for the OSS on 6 June 1944.

Would you have recognized him in the 2nd, 4th, 5th or 6th pictures, even if you were to see him face to face, in a foreign country? (Please remember that these pictures represent only very small changes of the facial hair and haircut, not plastic surgery).

Is it Possible?

With all of the new found evidence coming to light, it is possible and even likely that not only did Hitler escape from Germany; he had the help of the international intelligence community. 

Released FBI documents prove that they were not only aware of Hitler’s presence in Argentina; they were also helping to cover it up.

He insisted it be must alien technology as “nothing human that can fly that high.”

In respect of the astronaut's hand blocking out an alleged UFO, YouTube channel Secureteam10 released a video entitled ASTRONAUT BUSTED Trying To Hide UFOs Near ISS!"

Several people claimed it was all part of an ongoing cover up.

But, it turns out the truth is a lot less exciting, according to UFO hoax buster Scott Brando and his website ufoofinterest.org.

He has exposed countless alleged UFOs by the space station as being nothing more than lens flares.

NASA is communicating with alien races after photos were taken of what appears to be a UFO at one of its labs, it has sensationally been claimed.

Google Earth images reportedly show a huge silver disc at the space agency's Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) runway, near Los Angeles, California.

YouTube user, Name Shame, made the bizarre find after tracking movements at the facility over the course of three years.

Google satellite images also reveal the "flying saucer" has moved a number of times within the grounds of the lab.

In 2014, it was spotted on a patch of grass near before then moving to the runway.

The JPL is the where NASA developed its first Earth-orbiting satellite, the Explorer 1, in 1958.

But the institution is now dedicated to missions to explore incredibly remote planets and asteroids.

Conspiracists believe NASA may be hiding secret alien technology at the lab, including the UFO spotted on the Google satellite.

One so-called "truth-seeker" wrote online: "This disc is so low to the ground. So much so that it doesn't cast a shadow, even when the nearby car does.

"So this disc is about three metres big at its centre and about 1.5 metres at its edge from the ground – that is way too low to be (something like) a water tower.

Just yesterday, a picture emerged that is being hailed as definitive proof an alien species has visited earth.

The mystery of the true location of the legendary city of Atlantis, which is said to have been destroyed overnight, has captured our imagination for thousands of years.

Now, the discovery of large stone anchors in the Strait of Gibraltar hints the powerful Bronze Age civilisation described by Plato may have existed.

A new National Geographic documentary called Atlantis Rising charts an epic search for the lost city from Santorini, Greece to the islands of the Azores, comparing theories based on literature about the enigmatic civilisation.

The origins of the myth of Atlantis lies solely with Greek philosopher Plato, who referred to the Bronze Age city in two of his dialogues, 'Temaeus' and the 'Critas', in the fourth century BC.

In them, he says the Atlanteans mined gold and silver which they used to decorate temples and walls, while the capital of Atlantis was a port comprised of rings of land and sea.

Plato suggested the civilisation was destroyed overnight when an earthquake and tsunami struck, destroying the city's important port which was buried beneath mud.

Experts featured in the new documentary, produced by Titanic director James Cameron, draw on Plato's texts in a bid to reveal the lost city's location.

Filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici told IBTimes UK: 'We went back to this source and used the way he describes Atlantis as a treasure map, comparing the city's features with existing places.'

They did not expect to find a complete city, but set out to discover artefacts that had survived the ravages of time and may have been washed into the Atlantic by a mighty wave, thousands of years ago.

The team of scientists and marine archaeologists used advanced navigation techniques and multi spectral imaging to uncover clues about the Lost City of Atlantis, which some scholars believe to be entirely fictional.

Professor Richard Freund, University of Hartford, added: 'Plato is writing in a very specific time period, so when he says Atlantis was located at the strait of Gibraltar - he called them the Pillars of Hercules at the time - every single mariner, every single Greek reader, knew exactly where he was talking about.'

Clips of the documentary, which aired on 29 January, show marine archaeologists discovering a large stone anchor in what was the Pillars of Hercules.

The anchor, which measures 83cm across and has a hole in its centre, could be evidence of docks or breakwaters at the dive site.

Professor Richard Freund of the University of Hartford, said in a clip: 'It's a really amazing find.

'This anchor you can get very excited about. 

'This is a 3,000, 4,000-year old anchor that is massive for a very large boat, which shows us that ancient large boats were sailing into this area 4,000 years ago.'

In fact, the team discovered six of these intriguing artefacts that could date back to the Bronze Age – the largest ancient anchor hoard to be found in the Atlantic near the Strait of Gibraltar.

'Atlantis Rising' also divers explore the seas around Santorini and around the islands of the Azores, to compare a range of theories about the enigmatic civilisation

'These anchors could be 3,500 to 4,000 years old and establish a harbour in the Atlantic, where I didn't even dare dream to find anchors,' Mr Jacobovici told Indiewire.

'If we found six on a few dives, there must be thousands out there, confirming Plato's report of a port just past the Pillars of Hercules,' he said in the documentary.

The programme explores multiple locations in its bid to unlock the mystery of Atlantis.

For example, Plato wrote that ships sailed the Atlantic stopping at the Azores and experts touched on the recent discovery of pre-Roman structures on the remote islands that suggest ancient people sailed the vast ocean thousands of years before Columbus, in keeping with the famous tale of the lost city.

The documentary also travels to Donaña National Park in Southern Spain, which was the subject of a previous 'Finding Atlantis' documentary.

The marsh used to be an open bay adjacent to the Pillar of Hercules – the ancient name given to the Strait of Gibraltar - where the anchors were discovered, suggesting it could have one been the site of the lost city.

The researchers explored a number of areas, including Santorini, Greece, the Donana National Park and Campanario in Spain, and the Azores islands, marked on this map

The programme also includes author Georgeos Diaz-Montexano's idea that some Atlantian refugees fled inland to what is now Campanario, southern Spain and rock carvings in the area seem to show a record of the epic tale and its drowned port.

Pointing to one of the rock etchings, Mr Diaz-Montexano said: 'You can see around three inscribed boats here with about eight to 12 oars each.'

Experts used spectral imaging to take a closer look at the etchings, revealing a horse and boat which could be interpreted to be sinking beneath a wavy line depicting the sea, as well as concentric circles, which were a feature in Plato's description of the lost city.

It has previously been suggested that the present day islands of Santorini or Malta may once have been Atlantis, but neither fits with Plato's description.

Mr Jacobovici told IBTimes UK that while Santorini was destroyed overnight by a volcanic eruption and was home to an advanced Bronze Age civilisation, it is not on the Atlantic side of the strait of Gibraltar, as described by Plato.

While the documentary is not able to pinpoint without doubt the site of the Lost City of Atlantis, it compares archaeological examples of concentric architecture, for example, with Plato's descriptions.

This led the researchers to surmise they may have been a 'mother city' of Atlantis – possibly in southern Spain – but the advanced civilisation spread across the Mediterranean.

'Southern Spain may have been the centre of a civilisation which spread to Malta, Santorini or all the other places we have investigated,' Jacobovici said.

However, artefacts uncovered on land and sea have yet to be examined in the lab to reveal their origins, meaning some scholars who believe the Lost City of Atlantis is an allegory constructed by Plato, may not be convinced.

SEA-GOING SUPERPOWER, OR WAS PLATO PLAYING POLITICS? 

Atlantis was first described by the Greek philosopher Plato more than 2,000 years ago.

While many believe the story is a myth created by Plato to illustrate his theories about politics, others insist it is based on a real historical disaster.

According to Plato's account, written around 360BC, Atlantis was a major sea power located in the Atlantic.

It was larger than ancient Libya and Asia Minor (modern Turkey) put together, and was 'the way to the other islands, and from these you might pass to the whole of the opposite continent'.

His account included detailed descriptions of the island - with mountains in the north and along the coast, and a plain in the south.

Its kings were descended from Poseidon - the god of sea - but their divine lineage became diluted as they mixed with mortals.

By around 9600BC the island had conquered much of Western Europe and Africa and enslaved its enemies.

This date would make the city nearly as old as the end of the last Ice Age and pre-dates the earliest recorded city states, found in what is now Iraq, so seems rather unlikely.

After a failed attempt to invade Athens, the entire island sank into the sea 'in a single day and night of misfortune' which may have involved a volcanic eruption.

Over the centuries, scholars have attempted to locate the real Atlantis - believing the account was based on a real ancient superpower.

One of the theories is that Plato was describing the Minoan civilisation on Crete and the neighbouring island of Santorini which was devastated by a massive volcanic eruption around 1600BC, but others believe the islands do not fit Plato’s description of Atlantis’ location.

Some believe the Atlantis myth was inspired by the Black Sea floods of around 5,000BC - an event that may have also generated the flood stories which appeared in the Old Testament.
