When I met Jim Marrs for the first time he agreed to talk about one of his favorite subjects.

"Yeah, think it happened," he said on the 120th anniversary of the alien incident of 1897 in the North Texas town of Aurora. It's the infamous tale of an alien spaceship that allegedly crashed in the town north of Fort Worth and whose occupant was given a "good Christian burial" in the town cemetery.  

Decades later Marrs and a colleague took a metal detector to the grave and found readings for possible metal fragments. But the next day the readings disappeared.

"He said I think it was the government and I said I think you're right," Marrs said with a laugh.

"The personification of a good Texas man. Honest as the day is long," said former Fort Worth Star Telegram colleague Donna Darovich. “If you looked up character in the dictionary it would say Jim Marrs. He was the personification of a character."

Marrs was a long-time reporter for the Fort Worth Star Telegram. He was also the author of a dozen books including Alien Agenda and the book Crossfire - The Plot that Killed Kennedy. The conspiracy narrative became much of the motivation for the Hollywood movie by Oliver Stone.

"Jim was one of the first people to find his niche and stuck to it and found a great audience," said Fort Worth Star Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy. "What I admire about Jim is that I don't really believe everything he wrote but I believe he knew how to sell books."

Jim Marrs died of a heart attack last week at the age of 73. Tributes poured in over social media over the weekend from across the world.

"I can't think of him as not being vibrant and alive somewhere in the cosmos," said Linda Moulton Howe, an investigative reporter in Albuquerque, New Mexico who became friends with Marrs at multiple conferences across the country. She admired him for his dogged determination to get government officials to answer long-standing questions and conspiracies.

"Jim Marrs' 12 books have helped open up minds to facts that were contradictory to US policies of denial. His work I think will live on and on because that is all that Jim Marrs wanted to do - find out the truth and report it in the face of political agendas, policies of denials and lies."

"I believe in a God," Jim Marrs told me in our conversation about aliens and UFO's.  "But, I know there are UFO's," he laughed.

"A wild and wacky guy but a really sweet good ole Texas boy," said Darovich.

A good ole Texas boy, journalist, and author whose influence and who's countless questions live on.

His name was Sanakhat or Sa-Nakhat and he reigned for about 18 years as an Egyptian pharaoh in the Third Dynasty during the Old Kingdom, starting around 2650 BCE. His remains were found in 1901 in a tomb, not a pyramid, near Beit Khallaf in upper Egypt, the location of a number of Third Dynasty tombs. Not much else was known about Sanakhat until a recent study took another look at his skull and bones and determined that he not only ruled over but also towered over his subjects because he was … a giant!

The report in the August issue of The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology opens with the usual caveat that the term ‘giant’ is relative to the size of everyone else living at the time, but Sanakhat’s size was unusual in a number of ways. Led by Francesco M. Galassi, from the University of Zurich, researchers took a number of new and detailed measurements of Sanakht’s skeletal remains, extrapolated his probable size and compared it to known data on the size of the average Egyptian 4,700 years ago.

What they found was big. Sanakht was at least 187 cm or 6 foot 1 inches tall. That would make him a small NBA player today but a giant among his fellow, albeit non-royal, Egyptians who averaged about 162.5 cm or 5 foot 4 inches. That huge height difference is much more than what could be attributed to the royals eating better than the commoners, so the researchers concluded that Sanakht was a true Egyptian giant. And not just any giant. Based on archeological records, Sanakht was taller than any known Egyptian pharaoh before or after him.

What made Sanakht a giant? Before anyone starts shouting “Alien!”, the researchers anticipated the question. They found that his bones showed “signs of exuberant growth” but his skull did not. Today, those are indicators of gigantism, a hormonal condition that results in abnormal and excessive growth in young children (if the growth occurs in adulthood, it’s known as acromegaly) and is generally caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland. While today it can be treated if identified early, that obviously wasn’t the case in 2650 BCE.

That date — 2650 BCE – is significant because it makes Sanakht the oldest known case of gigantism … if it’s really Sanakht. While the remains were found in an elite tomb in an area known for having tombs from the Third Dynasty, there’s little to identify these as Sanakht. Also, the giant size of the skeleton is unique among other short-statured Third Dynasty rulers he would have been related to. The tomb contained nothing more that would show Sanakht’s actual dates of ruling nor his place in the dynastic line.

Whether the remains are Sanakht or some other elite individual, the discovery is important because it dates the condition of gigantism further back in history – potentially explaining many other stories of giants – and it shows that, in a culture that preferred short people and revered dwarfs, a giant was also considered special.

Sure, you probably laughed about it when you first heard that NASA had a Planetary Protection Officer, as though Earth actually needed protection from non-existent alien invasions. Perhaps, you thought, this might have been relevant back in the 1960s, before we realized how barren the Moon was, or how woefully insufficient the Solar System is for harboring some type of doomsday, Andromeda-strain-like bacterium.

Although that NASA office is responsible for external biological threats to Earth, the main function of planetary protection is quite different: protecting other worlds from Earth. Which is to say, every time we launch a mission into deep space, we need to ensure that Earth-based life doesn’t compromise an otherwise pristine environment. There are big questions about the Solar System that we can only answer if we don’t contaminate those other worlds; one screw-up can override billions of years of natural history.

China Built The World's Biggest Telescope But They've Got No One To Run It

China may have the world’s largest radio telescope in the world, but they’re apparently running into a few problems. Namely, they can’t find someone to run it.

Known as the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), China opened this huge dish in September 2016 to study the cosmos. Among its numerous goals, it will be used to look for signals from extraterrestrial life and study black holes.

Upon completion, the $178-million FAST observatory became the largest operational telescope in the world, with its dish spanning 500 meters (1,600 feet), as its name suggests. It made use of a natural sinkhole in the Guizhou region of China, although some locals had to be relocated to make way for it.

Now, however, it has emerged that China can’t find someone to run the telescope. They’ve been advertising the job of chief scientist for an annual salary of $1.2 million, but there have been no takers so far. It’s reported that China was looking for a foreigner because no astronomer at home had the expertise to run the telescope.

“The post is currently open to scientists working outside China only,” a human resources official at the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), which owns the telescope, told the South China Morning Post. “Candidates can be of any nationality, any race.”

For many, that could be a rather exciting opportunity. However, Ars Technica notes that there are only about 40 people in the world who could have the necessary requirements for the job. These include 20 years of experience in the field, and experience managing a large-scale radio project.

China has denied reports they have been looking for a foreigner to run the telescope, despite the seemingly verbatim quote from the HR official. In a post on Sina Weibo yesterday, as reported by the state-run Global Times, they said there was no such posting for the job, and it had been filled since July 2016. This chief scientist has not been named.

Presuming it does run smoothly, FAST should be pretty useful. Its huge collecting power will enable it to collect radio waves from distant sources, much like the Arecibo observatory did in the US.

“Having a more sensitive telescope, we can receive weaker and more distant radio messages,” CAS Director-General Wu Xiangping said in 2015. “It will help us to search for intelligent life outside of the galaxy and explore the origins of the universe.”

But scientific investigation site Metabunk - to which NIWA has directed us - offers a more prosaic answer.

"Cool footage of a sunlit contrailing jet suddenly increasing its rate of climb in the far distance, then continuing with less persistent contrails," wrote Mick West.

"Likely flight is Emirates 435 from Auckland to Brisbane."

A fragment of aluminum that appears to have been made by hand is being claimed as 250,000-year-old evidence that aliens once visited Earth in the long distant past.

Metallic aluminum was not being produced by mankind until about 200 years ago, so this find of a large chunk that could be around 250,000 years old is held as a sensational discovery. The exact details of the find were never made public at the time for the reason that the metal was excavated in communist Romania in 1973.

The discovery was made when builders that were working on the shores of Mures River found three objects that were 33 feet (10 meters) underground. This river is not far from the central Romanian town of Aiud. The pieces look unusual and very old, and archaeologists were brought to view them immediately and identified two of the objects as fossils. But the third piece seemed to be a man-made metal, and even though it is very light, it was suspected that it may be the end of an axe.

All three objects were sent together to be further analyzed by archaeologists in Cluj, the main city of the Romanian region of Transylvania. They quickly determined that the two large bones had belonged to an extinct mammal that died out around 90,000 years ago. The third object stunned the experts since it was a piece of lightweight metal, and seemed to have been manufactured.

According to tests, the object is made out of 12 different metals, but it was 90% aluminum. The Romanian officials dated the object as being 250,000 years old. The first results were later confirmed by a lab located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Later, other experts conducted tests and said that could be wrong – the age could range between 400 and 80,000 years old. Even if the object is 400 years old, that would still be 200 years before aluminum was known to have been first produced.

The object is 7.8 inches (20 centimeters) long, 4.9 inches (12.5 centimeters) wide and 2.8 inches (7 centimeters) thick. The experts were puzzled by the fact that the piece of metal has concavities that make it seem that it was manufactured as a component of a more complex mechanical system.

Now there is a heated debate around whether the object is part of a UFO and is evidence of aliens having visited our civilisation in the past.

The Deputy Director of the Romanian Ufologists Association, Gheorghe Cohal, told the local media that lab tests concluded that it’s an old UFO fragment, given that the materials could not have been combined with the technology that’s available on Earth. The local historian Mihai Wittenberger has claimed that the item is actually a metal piece from a WWII German aircraft. However, this does not explain the actual age of the artifact, Daily Record reported.

The metal object is now on public display inside the History Museum of Cluj-Napoca with the full history that was the cause of the heated debate. NATIVE AMERICANS HAVE NO FEAR OF ALIENS. HERE’S WHY

Deeply spiritual cultures remember a time when “people from the stars” freely interacted with members of the human species.

Before intrepid and greedy Europeans ‘discovered’ the Americas, the land was populated by a variety of cultures encompassing millions of souls. Sadly, the near-annihilation of Native Americans has also meant the disappearance of ancient knowledge that we might never win back.

Therefore, it is fortunate that the efforts of the survivors have included the passing down of stories from time immemorial and many of these talk about the “Star People”, a   term that groups various beings who came from the sky to share a connection with humans who were worthy of their teachings.

The ancient world was in contact with a multitude of advanced extraterrestrials, as evidenced by the rich collection of stories detailing these interactions. Many cultures separated by thousands of years refer narratives of flying objects and technology so advanced it could have well been magic. These stories are particularly strong within the mythos of the Native American tribes.

“My people tell of Star People who came to us many generations ago,” Richard Wagamese of the Wabaseemoong First People writes. “The Star people brought spiritual teachings and stories and maps of the cosmos and they offered these freely. They were kind, loving and set a great example. When they left us, my people say there was a loneliness like no other.”

He continues:

“If Star People did come to the Ojibway, where did they go? Where did they come from? Who brought teachings to them? What scientific magic did they own that allowed them to make such an incredible journey – and is it possible for us?”

The peaceful Hopi people believed their ancestors came from the Pleiades and the general demeanor of Pleiadian aliens is reflected in the Hopi lifestyle. Could this mean their genesis stories hold truth in them? It sure seems so.

Dakota legends make reference to the same star cluster – Tiyami they called them – as being their ancestor’s primal home.

Similarly, the Cree believed that in a time before history, their ancestors arrived from the stars in spirit form, only to become humans on Earth.

Native legends of the Lakota people speak of mysterious celestial beings that manifested themselves as spheres of light and would often choose particular children to follow them on a journey through space and time.

Native Americans perceive the issue of alien visitation and even abduction in a more spiritual manner, as Plains Cree author Stephane Wuttunee explains in a UFO digest article:

[My people] “give far greater attention to the seeking of the spiritual understanding of things rather than going after “the truth” as people from dominant cultures do. This is part of the reason why we tend to stand back and view or listen at first rather than bare in with questions or take the hard, direct approach.”

Growing up in a tightly-knit community, Wuttunee listened carefully to the stories passed down by the Elders of his tribe. They told of “distant relations and Star People living amongst the stars many times, mainly around campfires and during traditional ceremonies.”

“Far from being anything to be feared, Star People was just another term I grew up around,” Wuttunee writes. “I remember listening in awe and fascination at the thought of us having relations that lived off and outside our world, and sometimes spoke to them in my silent moments at night. I wanted to know who they were and what they looked like, if they had families like us etc.[…] It wasn’t until my later teens that I discovered that people from the dominant cultures were talking about the same “people” as my elders did, though each side’s sense of perception of these people seemed radically different from one another.”

Black Elk (1863-1950), an Oglala Sioux holy man who toured with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show when he was young described one of his experiences, way before the UFO phenomenon had become bastardized by mass-media:

“So when I went to vision quest, that disk came from above. The scientists call that a…Unidentified Flying Object, but that’s a joke, see? Because they are not trained, they lost contact with the wisdom, power and gift.”

“So that disk landed on top of me. It was concave, and there was another one on top of that. It was silent, but it lit and luminesced like neon lights. Even the sacred robes there were luminesced, and those tobacco ties lying there lit up like little light bulbs.”

“Then these little people came, but each little group spoke a different language. They could read minds, and I could read their minds. I could read them. So there was silent communication. You could read it, like when you read silent symbols in a book. So we were able to communicate…They are human, so I welcomed them. I said, “Welcome, Welcome…”

Here we have the written, unambiguous testimony of pivotal figure in the Sioux culture, a legendary man who was the cousin of Crazy Horse, telling us about his interaction with extraterrestrial beings aboard their luminous UFO.

Without exception, all Native American tribes foster an umbilical connection with Mother Earth. They see themselves as the “original caretakers” of our planet and lament the path to destruction we’re currently on. Many tribal figures see this as the primary reason behind the weakening of the bond between humanity and the Star People.

But at the same time, this implies that a global shift in our attitude towards the place we call home could rekindle this dwindling connection.

So maybe that’s where all the good aliens are: out of sight, waiting for us to come into our senses.

PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT : AN INVISIBLE BOAT THAT TRAVELED IN TIME THANKS TO EINSTEIN?

Summer of 1943. In the midst of World War II, an American battleship tested a technology designed by Einstein himself and managed to become invisible and teleport. That is, at least, what some conspiracy theorists say. This is the true story of the USS Elridge, the ship that “traveled in time”.(Philadelphia Experiment)

The legend of the Rainbow Project

What is popularly known as the Philadelphia Experiment, alludes to an alleged dark program of the US Navy called Project Rainbow. Urban legend says the military was testing a generator of electromagnetic fields with which they sought to find practical applications to the unified field theory proposed by Albert Einstein. In one sentence, they tried to achieve invisibility.

Private technicians who did not know what they were installing provided two powerful generators, dozens of meters of electrical cable around the hull and other complex electronic devices to the USS Elridge, a 93-meter-long battleship. On July 22, 1943, the first supposed experiment took place. The generators activated an electromagnetic field that made the battleship disappear from sight for a few minutes surrounded by a greenish fog. Some sailors complained of strong nausea caused by the test.

The equipment was readjusted and the second test took place on October 28. This time, the whole ship completely disappeared and appeared at the navy base in Norfolk, 600 kilometers away and 15 minutes in the past. There he was sighted during that time. After that he disappeared again in the middle of a blue lightning to return to Philadelphia.

Official statements of the navy

According to urban legend, the consequences of this second experiment were so devastating for the crew that the Navy decided to cancel the project. Most of the sailors developed schizophrenia and some completely lost their judgment. Many were seriously injured as they materialized, and others, less fortunate, fused horribly with the ship’s hull. Some vanished days after the experiment and never reappeared.

This is, roughly speaking, the truculent history perpetuated by conspiracy theorists, ufologists, and some science-fiction films. The navy has always denied the existence of the Philadelphia experiment. In a statement released in November 2000, the Navy’s Office of Naval Research (ONR) completely denied the existence of any invisibility or teleportation program, as well as Einstein’s involvement. In a summary of the note published by Naval History & Heritage, it is said:

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has already explained that the use of forcefields to make a ship and its crew invisible does not conform to the known laws of physics. The ONR also asserts that Dr. Albert Einstein’s unified field theory has never been completed.

Between 1943 and 1944, Einstein worked as a part-time consultant for the navy in theoretical investigation of explosives and explosions. There is no evidence that Einstein worked on anything related to invisibility or teleportation.
Indeed, unified field theory was a concept coined by Einstein when he attempted to explain the gravitational field and the electromagnetic field by a single unified theory. He never succeeded, but many do not care that the laws of physics overturn a good story.

The letters of Carlos Allende

How did the Philadelphia Experiment come to light? The answer is through a series of letters sent by Carl Meredith Allen under the pseudonym of Carlos Miguel Allende. Supposedly, Allen was a merchant seaman who saw the USS Elridge disappear from his own ship, SS Andrew Furuseth.

With a somewhat peculiar prose and abundant spelling mistakes, Allen described the supposed experiment of teleportation in a correspondence maintained with the writer and ufologist Morris Jessup. Although the sailor never provided any reliable proof of what he was saying, Jessup was fascinated by the tale and included it in a book titled The Case for the UFO. Jessup failed to repeat the moderate success of this book and committed suicide four years later. The circumstances surrounding his death further fueled the theory that the experiment existed and that the government has since tried to cover it up. The urban legend of the Philadelphia experiment had been officially born.

The Truth About The Philadelphia Experiment

The Philadelphia Experiment is a complicated hodgepodge of Allen’s feverish imagination, Jessup’s credulity, real facts, and gossip about sailors. The first thing that does not agree are the dates. Official records say that the USS Elridge was launched on July 25, 1943, two days after the alleged first experiment. He officially entered service at the Shipyard of New York on August 27, 1943.

What is certain is that, in the 1940s, the US Navy experimented with invisibility. Of course, it was not invisibility to the naked eye. The USS Elridge and its twin, the USS Engstrom were equipped with a new system that surrounded the whole hull with electric cables. The technique was called Degaussing, and its aim was to reduce the magnetic field of the ship to avoid that it was an easy target of the mines and magnetic torpedoes used in the Nazi submarines. The technique became very popular in the 40’s and came to be applied to military and civilian vessels alike.

As Edward Dudgeon, one of the sailors aboard the USS Elridge, explains, the degaussing system was installed by outside contractors. Not knowing exactly what they were installing together with the jokes of sailors who spoke of a system to “make the boat invisible” was enough to trigger the gossip. To this was added the fact that the ship did carry secret experimental equipment. It was, in particular, a new type of sonar and a system to sow loads of depth called Hedgehog.

The “lightning” spoken of in the urban legend about the Philadelphia experiment may be as simple as the discharge of ionized plasma known long ago as San Telmo fire.

As for the mysterious disappearance of the USS Elridge, Dudgeon explains that the origin of that part of the urban legend is due to an incident at the base of Norfolk. The Elridge landed at the base to get supplies, but soon he released moorings and returned to Philadelphia, where he arrived in less than six hours. According to the navigation charts of the area, this crossing was impossible because it was necessary to take a large detour to avoid German submarines and minefields. In fact, the ship used the channel Chesapeake & Delaware, that allows skipping the detour to the peninsula.

Dudgeon explains how until his departure and the one of a companion by the back door during a tavern fight encouraged the rumors of sailors of the USS Elridge that disappeared. Neither Edward Dudgeon nor his companion bar was old enough to drink, and when the fight broke out, the taverna took them out the back door to avoid problems with the authorities. To many, Dudgeon’s entire account is the cover of a mad experiment.

On January 15, 1951, the USS Elridge was transferred to Greece, where he served under the name of Leon. The ship left the service in 1999 and ended its days peacefully in a scrapping. It served to attenuate the legend of the Philadelphia Experiment that a group of veterans of the USS Elridge offered an interview in 1999 in which commented the history fun. The most fanciful prefer to believe that the US navy managed in a delusional pseudo-scientific combo invisibility, teleportation and time travel, but decided not to move forward because some sailors died.

De directeur van de planetaire bescherming van NASA, Dr. James L. Green, besloot een briefje terug te schrijven. "We horen dat je een echte 'Guardian of the Galaxy' bent en dat je interesse toont in de functie 'hoofd planetaire bescherming'. Dat is geweldig", vertelt Green in de brief.

"De openstaande job is heel cool en is heel belangrijk werk. Zo moet de man of vrouw ervoor zorgen dat de aarde beschermd is tegen kleine microben die vastzitten op materiaal dat we meebrengen na een ruimtereis naar de maan, asteroïden of Mars. Je moet er ook op toezien dat we andere planeten en manen niet besmetten met onze microben. Zo willen we op een verantwoorde manier de ruimte leren kennen", een uitleg die Jack ongelofelijk spannend zal vinden. 

Toch zit een job bij NASA er nog niet direct in voor de kleine 'bewaker van het heelal'. "We zijn altijd op zoek naar slimme wetenschappers om ons te helpen. Daarom hoop ik dat je hard zal studeren en het goed zal doen op school. We hopen je zeker ooit te mogen ontvangen hier bij NASA."

Wie dat wil, kan een boodschap proberen te laten sturen naar de Voyager-1, de verst van ons verwijderde sonde, zo heeft het Amerikaanse ruimtevaartbureau NASA vandaag getwitterd.

Op 5 september zal het veertig jaar geleden zijn dat de NASA de Voyager-1 lanceerde. Het tuig verkende de planeten Jupiter en Saturnus, maar vertoeft sinds augustus 2013 al in de interstellaire ruimte. Dus niet meer in ons zonnestelsel.

Geïnteresseerden mogen via een reeks sociale media zoals Twitter en Facebook een boodschap van maximaal zestig karakters naar de NASA sturen. Dit moet voor 16 augustus 08.59 uur Belgische tijd gebeuren, getagd als #MessagetoVoyager. De NASA zoekt dan de beste boodschappen uit, en dan kan het publiek uitmaken welke zal winnen. Dan komt NASA weer aan beurt, door het ding op 5 september naar Voyager-1 te sturen. De aankomst is een dag later.

UFO HUNTER FILMED AN OBJECT CREATING A FIREBALL ACROSS THE SKY

UFO footage that was supposed to be of a UFO blazing across the sky in Manurewa in Auckland may have been debunked, and it might not be the alien invasion that people had first thought it to be.

KIWI MAN CLAIMS TO HAVE WITNESSED 12 UFOS IN 12 WEEKS

Some people said that what the man had captured on the video was a meteor or fireball as the camera did not zoom in close enough to see what it was.

Others said that they thought they could make out a pulsating red headlight on the UFO and that it was some alien craft. The footage appeared to show an object of a large size that was flying through the sky and which had two jets of flames trailing behind it. The UFO was said to have changed its direction and in doing so made some maneuvers that typical aircraft would not be able to do and which could not be explained.  

SKEPTICS DEBUNK UFO SIGHTING AS JET, WHILE OTHERS BELIEVE IT IS ALIENS

One fan who said that it was a UFO said that it was not a jet aircraft as a jet was not able to stop in mid-air and do what the alien craft had done. This did get skeptics thinking about what type of aircraft would be able to make maneuvers such as this if it was not alien. One person said that they thought it might be Nibiru and it had two tails in the same way as a comet.

Another person said that once Earth and Mars are in conjunction things would start big time. He said that extra-terrestrials would be fleeing from Mars and they would arrive on Earth in the thousands. The person said that aliens would arrive on hyper drive and then use the gravity of Jupiter to slow them down.

Another person commenting on the UFO video said that he had lucid dreams of how an Intergalactic Federation had managed to fend off an invasion or ships of predators that had looked as though they were coming in.

However, a website based on scientific investigation may have debunked the UFO mystery. They said that it was probably footage of a controlling jet that was lit by the sun, which had increased its climb rate suddenly in the far distance and then continued with contrails that were less persistent. They continued by saying that more than likely what had been captured on the video was an Emirates 435 flight going from Auckland to Brisbane.

No Return is the title of a new book from David Booher. It is published by the good folks at Anomalist Books. The subtitle is UFO Abduction or Covert Operation? That’s a very good question! I finished reading the book last week and, I can say with certainty, it does not disappoint. It’s a real-life, little-known, saga that dates back to the latter part of the 1950s. It still remains filled with enigmas and puzzles, close to sixty years after it occurred.

Anomalist Books’ publicity page for No Return states: “On a lonesome road in Utah, a young soldier returning from leave speeds through the desert night. Suddenly the sky lights up as a blazing object streaks across the highway and crashes nearby. Stunned, the soldier stops and decides to investigate. Little does he know, but his life will never be the same again. This is the true story of a man named Gerry Irwin. Following a mysterious experience in Utah in 1959, inexplicable blackouts and bizarre behavior threatened to derail his promising Army career. Then one day he suddenly deserted his Army post in Texas and disappeared without a trace. No one knows what became of him—until now. What happened to Gerry Irwin? Was he abducted by aliens, in what would amount to the first known case of this phenomenon on American soil? Or was he a pawn in a covert intelligence operation? And how does his story really end? A new investigation launched in 2013 attempts to answer these and other questions, revealing along the way the ordeal of a man whose mind was ravaged by a confrontation with the unknown.”

To his credit, David Booher is refreshingly open-minded on the matter of what happened to Gerry Irwin on the night of February 20, 1959. He tackles all of the various theories which have been suggested: alien abduction, MK-Ultra-type mind-meddling, and a hoax on the part of Irwin himself. In other words, the book is free of any particular agenda – which is something you seldom see in a book that is focused on the domains of the paranormal, the conspiratorial, and the ufological.

Long-time ufologist Jacques Vallee agreed to write the foreword. Vallee says something in his foreword that is of critical importance: “I believe two major themes stand out from the insights we can derive from David Booher’s work: First, the virtue of a patient, long-term perspective on cases that seemed forever lost in amnesia or hidden in secrecy; and second, the critical need for an intelligent alternative to the shoddy, pop psychology of hypnosis that has come to masquerade for ‘research’ in numerous reports of UFO abduction.”

Although many people reading this review will possibly never have heard of the case, it was highlighted not at all long after it occurred. That coverage came from both the media of the day and the UFO community of that era – and primarily by Coral and Jim Lorenzen of APRO, the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization. The affair was also highlighted by Jacques Vallee, in his 1988 book, Dimensions: A Casebook of Alien Contact.

It was in November 2013 that author Booher, while digging into a UFO book of yesteryear, came across the case. Booher knew of it from years gone by, but on visiting it yet again he became fascinated. It was, of course, the saga of Gerry Irwin. In no time, Booher found himself immersed in a definitive mystery. There was one question Booher wanted answering: what really happened to Gerry Irwin in 1959?

Booher is not someone content to get all of his data from the Internet. As we quickly learn, he is someone who has a very proactive approach to his UFO research: he first set about locating Irwin. Booher succeeded: Irwin was still alive and in his eighties. In practically no time at all, Booher then finds himself immersed in a definitive mystery of epic proportions. At times the story becomes almost surreal, as our author seeks out the truth of what happened to Irwin. Nothing is quite as it seems. Significant portions of Irwin’s memories are gone, wiped clean. We learn that, as Irwin’s military records show, at one point after his mysterious experience, he was “interviewed under the influence of sodium amytal” by a psychiatrist assigned to Irwin, a Captain Valentine.

Booher skillfully juggles the two primary theories offered for Irwin’s experience: abduction by extraterrestrials versus mind-manipulation by something akin to the CIA’s MK-Ultra program. In a strange set of circumstances, Booher makes an intriguing case for both theories. On the one hand, he notes some of the classic aspects of an alien abduction event that are central to the experience of Irwin. We’re talking about (A) a strange light seen in the sky; (B) “missing time;” and (C) evidence of “psychological trauma.” Also in terms of the alien angle to all of this, Booher notes the similarities between Irwin’s encounter and that of Betty and Barney Hill in 1961.

On the other hand, though, Booher does not shy away from looking at Rich Reynolds‘ research into Antonio Villas Boas famous “close encounter” of 1957. It was an encounter which allegedly saw Brazilian Villas Boas get it on with a wild and willing space-babe from a faraway world. The curvy and stacked hottie even growled. Could it get much better? In case you don’t know, Rich’s work has shown that there may well be a very down to earth (but no less controversial) answer to the Villas Boas story – one which is connected to government mind-control programs. Booher recognizes this and presents the reader with his observations and theories on this issue. And, it should not go without notice that Booher also addresses the theory that the whole thing was a hoax by Irwin himself, a very odd attempt on his (Irwin’s) part to get out of the military. Booher does so in a fashion that makes it clear he wants answers – regardless of what the outcome might be. That Irwin did go AWOL at the time becomes the subject of a 20-page chapter.

One of the most intriguing parts of the book is that which highlights the various official, military documents on Irwin that Booher was able to obtain. One such document was prepared by the aforementioned Captain Valentine – who sought to figure out what had happened to Irwin. The document includes the following words from the captain: “[Irwin] stated there was a ‘special intelligence’ that he couldn’t explain to me, since it would be incomprehensible to me, which has directed him not to remember or not to tell me about any of the events in Utah.” Captain Valentine also noted in the papers that: “[Irwin] states ‘it’ all began at the age of three years.” Booher suggests this latter quote “provides further support for an abduction scenario.”

I won’t reveal to you all of Booher’s conclusions, but what I will say is that he has written an absorbing, unbiased and genuinely fascinating story. It’s Booher’s own, personal search for the truth of a young man whose life was forever changed on a dark night back in the fifties. You should read this book.

In Part One of this article, I presented the inside story of Disney’s 1995 UFO documentary, Alien Encounters from New Tomorrowland, which supposedly was produced with the sole purpose of promoting Disneyworld’s then-new “ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter” attraction in Orlando, Florida. The documentary quickly became engrained into UFO conspiracy lore, with many in the UFO community speculating that it was a sort of “soft Disclosure,” intended as a test of public reaction to a possible future announcement of alien contact. Despite Disney having close historical ties to the US government and military, there is simply no evidence to support the acclimation theory for the Disney documentary, although certainly the specifics of its content served to strongly reinforce ideas that had thus far been sown into the UFO community by disinformation operatives dating back at least to the early-1980s. According to writer/producer, Andrew Thomas, the content of his documentary was crafted entirely by him, and he was given free rein by Disney to make essentially whatever he wanted, which he did.

Still, for reasons detailed in Part One, the Alien Encountersdocumentary remains something of an oddity, both for its content, and for what its director, Andrew Thomas, describes as Disney’s “completely counter-intuitive” TV scheduling. It aired in only a handful of US cities at inopportune times on selected dates in February and March 1995, with no notice. The result, says Thomas, was that “no one would be watching it.” An incredibly odd marketing strategy considering its purpose was to promote a major theme park attraction for families.

Disney, one of the world’s largest corporations, is not known for poor marketing strategies, and yet, not only did it display appalling promotional skills for its 1995 UFO documentary, but this same shocking absence of PR know-how had also been exhibited by Disney on another UFO-related project during the same timeframe.

A few months before the broadcast of its Alien Encounters documentary, in January of 1995, Disney made the unprecedented move of staging a major UFO conference at its Orlando resort, titled “UFOs: The Reality of the Phenomenon.” As with the documentary, the official purpose of the conference was to help promote its new “ExtraTERRORestrial” attraction. Disney sought to bring together the world’s leading UFO experts for several weeks. These included major names of the time, like Budd Hopkins, George Knapp, Don Schmitt, Kevin Randle, and Zecharia Sitchin, among others. Such a line-up at the height of UFO hysteria in America would ordinarily have attracted many hundreds, if not thousands, of attendees. Strangely, though, Disney chose not to advertise their costly multi-week event. As a result, the world’s leading UFO speakers spoke to almost no one at all.

The man tasked with organizing the conference for Disney was Don Ecker, Director of Research at UFO Magazine, then the world’s most popular UFO publication. I interviewed Ecker in 2015. “In a way,” said Ecker, “the Disney conference is kind of a murky legendary incident in the history of UFOs in the United States.”

Ecker recalled:

This was going to be a two-week event and Disney wanted me to host it. They would fly me down to Orlando. I would be the person choosing all the speakers and organizing the line-up. There were two groups of speakers that came in. One group for week one, the second group for week two. Disney had set aside an auditorium for this whole thing [NOTE: David Halperin, whose work is referenced in Part One, has the event lasting four weeks, not two].

It wasn’t until the conference began that Ecker learned of Disney’s non-promotion of the event.

He told me, still in disbelief:

Disney never gave it an ounce of promotion. They did not promote it at all. In the two weeks that we were there, the most highly attended day for speakers in an auditorium that could have seated several hundred, we may have had 10 or 12 attendees at most. We had virtually no audience at all. That Disney didn’t promote it made no sense to me then, and it makes no sense to me now.

Ecker said that abduction researcher Budd Hopkins was particularly outraged by the lack of attendees: “He just upped and left in the middle of the week. Didn’t even say goodbye or thanks.” Despite the almost total lack of attendees, the other speakers (approximately twenty in total) still delivered their prepared lectures each day based on their current research.

The conference could not have been cheap. “These speakers had received airline tickets to fly in, free room, board, and meals for two weeks, everything paid for by Disney,” said Ecker.

On the final evening, during a goodbye meal at the resort, Ecker received an official thank you from Disney World.

Ecker told me with disgust:

They presented me with a “Mousker.” This Disney drone—this gofer kid—came running up to me and said, “Mr Ecker, we have something we want to present you with.” So, I followed him literally into a hallway behind one of the big rooms. A Disney executive came up to me, along with another kid carrying a cardboard box. The kid reached into the box, pulled out this statue of Mickey Mouse and they presented it to me. That was their way of saying thanks for the job I did for two weeks putting this thing together. Looking at it in retrospect, I really felt like they took me to the shower, dropped the soap in front of me, and asked me to bend over and pick it up.

The whole thing seemed to defy logic from a marketing standpoint. Disney had created a costly alien-themed attraction and claimed to want to promote it through a two-pronged marketing campaign consisting of a multi-week conference at Disney World and a tie-in documentary (Alien Encounters from New Tomorrowland). Yet, inexplicably, Disney promoted neither the conference nor the documentary, rendering both of them entirely useless as marketing tools. “It was basically like Disney taking tens-of-thousands of dollars and burning it on a bonfire,” said Ecker.

Could there have been an ulterior motive behind the conference? It was held in the mid-1990s, before the global dominance of the Internet and email, before ufologists began sharing all their work online. With this in mind, could the conference have been an orchestrated opportunity for intelligence agencies to assemble under one roof the leading figures in ufology for an extended period of time in order to simply take the current pulse of the UFO subculture, and perhaps to further seed and steer it in service of its own psychological warfare goals? We’re in deep into speculative territory here, but logical justifications for the conference are hard to find. It was not promoted. It was not attended. To my mind, it served no obvious purpose, unless its purpose was potential intelligence-gathering and dissemination of disinformation. Given the documented history of intersections between UFOs, Disney and officialdom, this theory may hold at least some measure of water.

In his book, The Trickster and the Paranormal, George P. Hansen observes:

Any legitimate analysis that tries to explain belief about UFOs must recognize that the UFO subculture is awash in disinformation spread by government personnel, and that this has played an enormous role in shaping the subculture. Virtually all UFO investigators who make regular public presentations are from time to time are approached by people who claim to have seen materials or documents while in military service that confirmed that the government has UFO projects… These low-profile informants are a major source of UFO beliefs held by millions of people. Their information circulates quietly throughout the culture…

As with much else in the weird world of UFOs, in the absence of solid answers, we find ourselves wading through what Lorin Cutts terms The UFO Mythological Zone, “the gap between fact and belief, what we see and what we want to see, what we experience and how we interpret it.” In the absence of facts, says Cutts, “many people simply choose what they want to believe.”

When it comes to the curious cases of Disney’s 1995 UFO documentary and conference, all I know is that I don’t know what to believe. I’m perched on a ledge in Undecidedsville, overlooking the sprawl of The Mythological Zone below. I invite you to join me here, to dangle your feet, and to think a while. Shall we jump off the edge, or spit off it? Either way, it’s important that we look with clear eyes, and recognize the spectacle for what it is.

Photographer Caught Huge Black UFO Flying Towards the Moon

A resident of Stockton, California was taken photos of the full moon on August 6, 2017 when he noticed a huge black object flying towards the moon.

He kept taking images of the flying saucer shaped object which flew from left to right then down and back to the left until it vanished.

The unidentified flying object made no sound and had no lights.

When the photographer got home and dumped the photos to his computer he noticed that there were actually two objects in the photos. Mufon case 85721.

Report of the mysterious UFOs filmed over Hoia-Baciu haunted forest in Romania

The Hoia-Baciu forest is a fascinating place. Once you cross its boundaries, you find yourself immersed in a world of magic that truly captivates your mind. Although it lays a few kilometers away from the city of Cluj-Napoca, the heart of Transylvania, it still holds a wild, untamed spirit, which reminds us of the importance that nature holds in our lives.

Locals nearby are familiar with the strange energies contained inside. The phenomena manifested there, beyond their power of understanding, prompted them not to ask reckless questions.

Because of fear, the forest remained, for a long period of time, shrouded in mystery. The place itself is a mythical source of lore and legends.

Reports have included, ghost sightings, unexplained apparitions, guardian angels and faces appearing in photographs that were not visible with the naked eye. In the forest there is a magnetic area 300 meters wide and electronic devices are known to malfunction when introduced into the area.

Tests with measurement devices have revealed electromagnetic interference, magnetic anomalies and microwaves, infrared and radioactive emissions all in the abnormal range have led to the assumption that the forest is a gateway to another dimension.

According to paranormal investigators this energy field was created about 55,000 years ago by beings from another world to allow them not only to travel via teleportation from another dimension to planet earth but also to travel to every place on earth without the use of a craft.

This magnetic area is probably also a beacon for UFOs as from 1968, UFO sightings were reported and the last reported UFO was filmed over Baciu Forest in 2002 by two Cluj residents who lived on the top floor of a building on the outskirts of the neighborhood Manastur. The UFO was caught on film for 27 seconds and was described as a cigar-shaped bright object in the sky with a length of about 50 meters.

Mystery as massive green UFO shaped like orb spotted in sky above 'sacred mountain'

UFO hunters have captured a mysterious eerie orb creeping silently through a forest in Canada.

Rob Freeman and Marcus McNabb went searching for extraterrestrial life around Squamish, British Colombia, after locals told them about weird goings-on in the area.

Rob, a senior field researcher for the Centre for the Scientific Study of Atmospheric Anomalies, said the sighting is the best footage they’ve recorded to date .

It shows a bright circular light darting above Stawamus Chief before seemingly shining through trees as if they were see-through.

"Several locals said orbs have been spotted above 'The Chief' at Squamish, so we set up within view of the granite monolith, the second biggest of its kind in the world," Rob told Mirror Online.

"At 10.59pm, this huge yellowish white ball of light appeared out of nowhere and then proceeded to go into the woods.

Rob and Marcus have travelled to 11 countries over three years in search for alien life after being inspired by a childhood experience, reports Squamish Chief .

To collect data, the crew used night imaging technology, as well as a camera fondly called the “weapon of mass detection.”

Rob said when they first spotted the orb on July 22 they thought it was an airplane.

“The trees behind the orb were all lit up,” he explained. “That means it was in front of the trees.”

“Rejecting the UFO phenomenon outright makes no sense. There are a lot of well-documented sightings during the so-called 'Belgian UFO Wave' of 1989-1992 including by military men, police officers and civilian and military pilots,” Tarek said.

In March 1990, Belgian Air Force radar operators at a NATO air surveillance center at Glons saw on their screens three unusual flying objects that had entered the country’s airspace.

New Mexico Teenager Captures Suspected UFO on Cell Phone Camera (PHOTOS)

A pair of F-16 fighter jets from nearby Beauvechain air base was scrambled to check out what was happening.

However, before the planes were able to close in on the unknown intruders, the UFOs suddenly disappeared from sight at a speed that the pilots said was much faster than what their combat aircraft could muster.

“According to an official statement by Belgian General Wilfried de Brouwer, one of the UFOs increased its speed from 240 kilometers an hour to 1,770 in a matter of just two seconds,” Tarek noted.

“Only about 5 percent of all UFO sightings worldwide can be termed UFO sightings because these flying objects are never identified. The remaining 95 percent turn out to be planes, satellites, meteorites or space junk,” Tarek explained.

“However, the remaining 5 percent are unidentified, and this is really fascinating,” he noted, adding that Britain and France now have documented cases of UFO sightings which have never been explained.

Eyewitnesses and Radar Screenshots “Are Not Always Informative Enough”

“I like interviewing people who have personally observed UFOs or are studying this phenomenon,” said Tarek, who is a certified telecommunications engineers and computer programmer.

He said that radar screenshots are not always reliable because there are ways to “spoof” radars by simulating and sending back reflections of objects, which are not really there.

“Only when I see an UFO optically, as an eyewitness, and also have a radar screen shot can I say that this object really existed,” Tarek said.

“Stories About Aliens” Are Just Part of the UFO Theory

“The mere fact that you have seen a UFO does not mean that those were aliens, or travelers in time. On the one hand we have cases of UFO sightings. On the other, I guess there are hundreds of thousands of theories about UFOs none of which has been proved,” Tarek continued.

Don’t Stop Believing: Objects Spotted Near ISS May Be UFOs of Another Kind

He said that some ufologists explain such sightings as paranormal phenomena, something people have encountered for thousands of years, “not only since the 1947 Roswell incident when something fell in a New Mexico desert and we still don’t know what it was.”

Tarek hopes that he will live long enough to get the answer to this question. In the meantime, he keeps working and is preparing a new series of programs on this fascinating subject.

UFOs, Aliens and Abductions Survey

Columnist Cheryl Costa goes over a recent survey on extraterrestrials conducted by 20th Century Fox.

In the middle of July 2017, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment commissioned a national survey conducted by Toluna regarding UFOs, aliens and abductions. The purpose of the survey was to celebrate and promote the Aug. 1 release of its film Phoenix Forgotten.

Before we get to the statistics, let’s briefly review a bit of history about the Phoenix lights. Twenty years ago on Thursday, March 13, 1997, the populace of Arizona and northwestern Mexico experienced a highly unique and massive UFO sighting event.

Around 7:30 p.m. a series of stationary lights appeared over a space of 300 miles, starting around the Nevada state line, moving southeast over Phoenix and continued toward regional Tucson. It was finally reported in the Mexican state of Sonora.

Eyewitnesses were reported to have observed and videotaped a craft estimated to be several football fields long in length. Observers described that when the huge craft passed overhead, stars would disappear behind the object, only reappearing after the UFO passed. The craft was also reported to have been completely silent.

Of course, the sighting event caused a great deal of public concern and controversy. Regional and state governments, in an effort to calm everyone down, made light of the event. Personnel with the United States Air Force did their best to explain the whole thing away as fighter jets deploying flares.

The Phoenix lights sighting event was used as a backdrop for a fictional modern alien abduction horror movie.

Let’s look at the July 2017 survey numbers based on a statistical sample of 1,756 Americans ranging in age from 18 to 55 and above. The gender ratio was 68.34 percent female and 31.55 percent male. Regional samplings were as follows: West, 34.34 percent; Midwest, 18.91 percent; South, 30.01 percent; and Northeast, 16.74 percent.

The education level was 99 percent high school graduates. The majority ranged from some who attended college, to some who received bachelor’s and graduate degrees.

The survey reported that 47 percent of Americans believe in aliens, which is about 150 million people. That number is up 5 percent from the 2012 survey commissioned by National Geographic. Unfortunately, the survey didn’t measure those who are on the fence about the existence of aliens or the percentage who flat out don’t believe they exist.

The survey reported that 38.78 percent of Americans believe aliens have visited Earth before, which is around 124 million Americans. It also reported that 16.74 percent say they have seen a UFO. This indicates that 53.57 million Americans say they have seen a UFO; that’s 1 in 6 Americans. The old rule-of-thumb estimate was around 1 in 10.

Since we don’t have a reported time frames, let’s do some rough math. The age range and number of the participating respondents shakes out as follows:

• Ages 18-34: 25.74 percent
• Ages 35-54: 35.08 percent
• Ages 55 and above: 39.18 percent

Looking at the high percentage of folks over 55, I decided to assume a period over the last 50 years (1967 to 2017) as a proposed sample period for UFO sightings. So, if we divide the 53.57 million who say they witnessed a UFO by 50 years, that equals about 1.07 million sightings per year. Interestingly, that number jives with the numbers estimated from the 1 in 10 number and the 121,000 sightings reported 2001-2015. I find that very intriguing.

The survey reported that 18 percent of Americans believe abductions happen, which is about 57.6 million Americans or roughly 1 in 5. It also reported that 27 percent of Americans know someone who claims to have seen a UFO, which is about 86.4 million or roughly 1 in 4.

Finally, the survey indicated that a majority of the respondents, about 50 percent, believe abductions happen because of a genuine interest in human anatomy.

For those interested in the Phoenix lights event, a simple Google search will yield plenty of written material and lots of video from the event.

LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME RECENT UFO SIGHTINGS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY:

• July 15, 2017: At 1:45 a.m. a resident of Vero Beach, Fla., observed a bright orange fireball UFO.
• July 15, 2017: At 3:30 a.m. a resident of the municipality of Weed in Siskiyou County, Calif., reported a bright flashing light that rose out of the eastern sky.
• July 15, 2017: At 3:50 a.m. a resident of Wilsall, Mont., witnessed a huge, bright white light hovering over the Crazy Mountains.
• July 15, 2017: At 2 p.m. a resident of Lapine, Ore., reported observing white-silver metallic object.
• July 15, 2017: At 9 p.m. a resident of Post Falls, Idaho, reported seeing three glowing lights at ends of a huge triangle. He later observed the craft over Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He stated that it was totally silent.
• July 15, 2017: At 9:40 p.m. a resident of Greensburg, Pa., witnessed the appearance of two sets of orange-red spheres flying together.

Bright lights ‘defy physics’ says Haultain resident

Something’s flying in the air over the Camosun and Jubilee neighbourhoods of Saanich and Victoria and it’s got Mike Allan thinking differently about what’s in our sky.

Allan lives with his family on Haultain Street, a few doors in from Richmond Road. He was a skeptic about anything that had to do with the phrase ‘unidentified flying object’, until he became witness to some strange events when he arrived about five years ago.

(One of the only instances of footage that Allan has.)

Since then he’s witnessed the strange occurrence of light, kind of like a star, that moves around the sky in abnormal ways, often hovering.

Other UFO’s have been recently reported in Duncan and Sooke.

In this case, the light mostly runs northwest to southeast, loosely mimicking the path of a satellite, Allan said.

“Sometimes there’s two at satellite altitude but then they criss-cross and satellites don’t do that.”

Usually the light is the size of a star but much brighter. Its movement is unlike any plane, drone or satellite, Allan said. They appear below cloud levels and as high as the satellites.

“When I tell people they look at me like I’m crazy, and granted I would think they were crazy too but it’s happening,” Allan said. “My neighbours are totally skeptical until they see it, now there’s a few of us who’ve seen this.”

Unsure exactly what it is, he refers to it as “the bright thing in the sky.” His daughter calls it “the UFO-thingy,” he laughed.

“When we moved to Haultain we had a tenant that was full on into UFOs, and I was like yeah right, there’s no such thing,” Allan said. “Now whenever I’m out at night I’m looking up, looking for one, and then it’s a matter of getting someone who’s closest to you to see it too.”

Allan’s neighbour, Darrel, is among those whose since come to recognize the odd incidents of lights.

“It defies physics, whatever it is, these aren’t drones,” Darrel said. “Maybe it’s military or something.”

They are too bright for their size to go without a motor, Allan said.

“To have that amount of light you’d need a powerful motor, you think you’d hear it.”

The light isn’t always the same. They can be seen during the day and at night.

“Last week it was low, it was not a satellite,” Allan said. “[Satellites] don’t bob through the air. It’s something kind of like turbulence, with no flashing beacons, moving faster than planes do across the sky.”

Ben Dorman, a longtime volunteer with the Victoria chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and has spent a lifetime looking up at the Saanich sky with his naked eye and through telescopes. He coudn’t speak to anything within the atmosphere and said there aren’t any similar optical illusions in the sky similar to this that he knows of.

“The only bright things which move through the sky are above the atmosphere and they’d be a streak,” Dorman said. “Something in orbit is not going to dance around.”

So what is it?

As conspiracies go, anything is possible, Allan says.

“By the definition of UFO, yes, it’s an unidentified flying object. Everyone’s skeptical until they see it. What can I say, you gotta keep looking at the sky, they’re there.”

Cedar Rapids UFO Sighting 5 Years Ago Today

The month of August will bring several astronomical sights to the skies of Cedar Rapids, including the Perseids Meteor Shower on August 12, and the Total Solar Eclipse on August 21st.

But it was on this date, August 6th, exactly five years ago that this amazing video of a UFO was captured over Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Yes, I am a believer in extra-terrestrial life and evidence like this only confirms my suspicions that we are not alone.

According to You Tube, the person who captured the vide was not sure if it was a star or plane, but was completely spooked when it begins to jump and dance across the sky.

“At first we were not sure if it was just a star, light, plane, or what, but it was right next to the moon–glowing pretty bright. But the second the light took of and started shooting and dancing across the night sky, our skepticism jumped to curiosity.”

I wonder if this object might make a return appearance on the 5th anniversary of it’s sighting in this video. With the full moon arriving on the 9th of August, it would be freaky cool to see if this unidentified visitor makes a return to the night sky sometime this week.

The rapid development of so-called NBIC technologies – nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology and cognitive science – are giving rise to possibilities that have long been the domain of science fiction. Disease, ageing and even death are all human realities that these technologies seek to end.

They may enable us to enjoy greater “morphological freedom” – we could take on new forms through prosthetics or genetic engineering. Or advance our cognitive capacities. We could use brain-computer interfaces to link us to advanced artificial intelligence (AI).

Nanobots could roam our bloodstream to monitor our health and enhance our emotional propensities for joy, love or other emotions. Advances in one area often raise new possibilities in others, and this “convergence” may bring about radical changes to our world in the near-future.

“Transhumanism” is the idea that humans should transcend their current natural state and limitations through the use of technology – that we should embrace self-directed human evolution. If the history of technological progress can be seen as humankind’s attempt to tame nature to better serve its needs, transhumanism is the logical continuation: the revision of humankind’s nature to better serve its fantasies.

As David Pearce, a leading proponent of transhumanism and co-founder of Humanity+, says:

If we want to live in paradise, we will have to engineer it ourselves. If we want eternal life, then we’ll need to rewrite our bug-ridden genetic code and become god-like … only hi-tech solutions can ever eradicate suffering from the world. Compassion alone is not enough.

But there is a darker side to the naive faith that Pearce and other proponents have in transhumanism – one that is decidedly dystopian.

There is unlikely to be a clear moment when we emerge as transhuman. Rather technologies will become more intrusive and integrate seamlessly with the human body. Technology has long been thought of as an extension of the self. Many aspects of our social world, not least our financial systems, are already largely machine-based. There is much to learn from these evolving human/machine hybrid systems.

Yet the often Utopian language and expectations that surround and shape our understanding of these developments have been under-interrogated. The profound changes that lie ahead are often talked about in abstract ways, because evolutionary “advancements” are deemed so radical that they ignore the reality of current social conditions.

In this way, transhumanism becomes a kind of “techno-anthropocentrism”, in which transhumanists often underestimate the complexity of our relationship with technology. They see it as a controllable, malleable tool that, with the correct logic and scientific rigour, can be turned to any end. In fact, just as technological developments are dependent on and reflective of the environment in which they arise, they in turn feed back into the culture and create new dynamics – often imperceptibly.

Situating transhumanism, then, within the broader social, cultural, political, and economic contexts within which it emerges is vital to understanding how ethical it is.

Competitive environments

Max More and Natasha Vita-More, in their edited volume The Transhumanist Reader, claim the need in transhumanism “for inclusivity, plurality and continuous questioning of our knowledge”.

Yet these three principles are incompatible with developing transformative technologies within the prevailing system from which they are currently emerging: advanced capitalism.

Perpetual doper or evolutionary defunct?

One problem is that a highly competitive social environment doesn’t lend itself to diverse ways of being. Instead it demands increasingly efficient behaviour. Take students, for example. If some have access to pills that allow them to achieve better results, can other students afford not to follow? This is already a quandary. Increasing numbers of students reportedly pop performance-enhancing pills. And if pills become more powerful, or if the enhancements involve genetic engineering or intrusive nanotechnology that offer even stronger competitive advantages, what then? Rejecting an advanced technological orthodoxy could potentially render someone socially and economically moribund (perhaps evolutionarily so), while everyone with access is effectively forced to participate to keep up.

Going beyond everyday limits is suggestive of some kind of liberation. However, here it is an imprisoning compulsion to act a certain way. We literally have to transcend in order to conform (and survive). The more extreme the transcendence, the more profound the decision to conform and the imperative to do so.

The systemic forces cajoling the individual into being “upgraded” to remain competitive also play out on a geo-political level. One area where technology R&D has the greatest transhumanist potential is defence. DARPA (the US defence department responsible for developing military technologies), which is attempting to create “metabolically dominant soldiers”, is a clear example of how vested interests of a particular social system could determine the development of radically powerful transformative technologies that have destructive rather than Utopian applications.

Designing super-soldiers.

The rush to develop super-intelligent AI by globally competitive and mutually distrustful nation states could also become an arms race. In Radical Evolution, novelist Verner Vinge describes a scenario in which superhuman intelligence is the “ultimate weapon”. Ideally, mankind would proceed with the utmost care in developing such a powerful and transformative innovation.

There is quite rightly a huge amount of trepidation around the creation of super-intelligence and the emergence of “the singularity” – the idea that once AI reaches a certain level it will rapidly redesign itself, leading to an explosion of intelligence that will quickly surpass that of humans (something that will happen by 2029 according to futurist Ray Kurzweil). If the world takes the shape of whatever the most powerful AI is programmed (or reprograms itself) to desire, it even opens the possibility of evolution taking a turn for the entirely banal – could an AI destroy humankind from a desire to produce the most paperclips for example?

It’s also difficult to conceive of any aspect of humanity that could not be “improved” by being made more efficient at satisfying the demands of a competitive system. It is the system, then, that determines humanity’s evolution – without taking any view on what humans are or what they should be. One of the ways in which advanced capitalism proves extremely dynamic is in its ideology of moral and metaphysical neutrality. As philosopher Michael Sandel says: markets don’t wag fingers. In advanced capitalism, maximising one’s spending power maximises one’s ability to flourish – hence shopping could be said to be a primary moral imperative of the individual.

Philosopher Bob Doede rightly suggests it is this banal logic of the market that will dominate:

If biotech has rendered human nature entirely revisable, then it has no grain to direct or constrain our designs on it. And so whose designs will our successor post-human artefacts likely bear? I have little doubt that in our vastly consumerist, media-saturated capitalist economy, market forces will have their way. So – the commercial imperative would be the true architect of the future human.

System-led evolution

Whether the evolutionary process is determined by a super-intelligent AI or advanced capitalism, we may be compelled to conform to a perpetual transcendence that only makes us more efficient at activities demanded by the most powerful system. The end point is predictably an entirely nonhuman – though very efficient – technological entity derived from humanity that doesn’t necessarily serve a purpose that a modern-day human would value in any way. The ability to serve the system effectively will be the driving force. This is also true of natural evolution – technology is not a simple tool that allows us to engineer ourselves out of this conundrum. But transhumanism could amplify the speed and least desirable aspects of the process.

Information authoritarianism

For bioethicist Julian Savulescu, the main reason humans must be enhanced is for our species to survive. He says we face a Bermuda Triangle of extinction: radical technological power, liberal democracy and our moral nature. As a transhumanist, Savulescu extols technological progress, also deeming it inevitable and unstoppable. It is liberal democracy – and particularly our moral nature – that should alter.

The failings of humankind to deal with global problems are increasingly obvious. But Savulescu neglects to situate our moral failings within their wider cultural, political and economic context, instead believing that solutions lie within our biological make up.

Yet how would Savulescu’s morality-enhancing technologies be disseminated, prescribed and potentially enforced to address the moral failings they seek to “cure”? This would likely reside in the power structures that may well bear much of the responsibility for these failings in the first place. He’s also quickly drawn into revealing how relative and contestable the concept of “morality” is:

We will need to relax our commitment to maximum protection of privacy. We’re seeing an increase in the surveillance of individuals and that will be necessary if we are to avert the threats that those with antisocial personality disorder, fanaticism, represent through their access to radically enhanced technology.

Such surveillance allows corporations and governments to access and make use of extremely valuable information. In Who Owns the Future, internet pioneer Jaron Lanier explains:

Troves of dossiers on the private lives and inner beings of ordinary people, collected over digital networks, are packaged into a new private form of elite money … It is a new kind of security the rich trade in, and the value is naturally driven up. It becomes a giant-scale levee inaccessible to ordinary people.

Crucially, this levee is also invisible to most people. Its impacts extend beyond skewing the economic system towards elites to significantly altering the very conception of liberty, because the authority of power is both radically more effective and dispersed.

Foucault’s notion that we live in a panoptic society – one in which the sense of being perpetually watched instils discipline – is now stretched to the point where today’s incessant machinery has been called a “superpanopticon”. The knowledge and information that transhumanist technologies will tend to create could strengthen existing power structures that cement the inherent logic of the system in which the knowledge arises.

This is in part evident in the tendency of algorithms toward race and gender bias, which reflects our already existing social failings. Information technology tends to interpret the world in defined ways: it privileges information that is easily measurable, such as GDP, at the expense of unquantifiable information such as human happiness or well-being. As invasive technologies provide ever more granular data about us, this data may in a very real sense come to define the world – and intangible information may not maintain its rightful place in human affairs.

Systemic dehumanisation

Existing inequities will surely be magnified with the introduction of highly effective psycho-pharmaceuticals, genetic modification, super intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, nanotechnology, robotic prosthetics, and the possible development of life expansion. They are all fundamentally inegalitarian, based on a notion of limitlessness rather than a standard level of physical and mental well-being we’ve come to assume in healthcare. It’s not easy to conceive of a way in which these potentialities can be enjoyed by all.

Will they come along for the ride?

Sociologist Saskia Sassen talks of the “new logics of expulsion”, that capture “the pathologies of today’s global capitalism”. The expelled include the more than 60,000 migrants who have lost their lives on fatal journeys in the past 20 years, and the victims of the racially skewed profile of the increasing prison population.

In Britain, they include the 30,000 people whose deaths in 2015 were linked to health and social care cuts and the many who perished in the Grenfell Tower fire. Their deaths can be said to have resulted from systematic marginalisation.

Unprecedented acute concentration of wealth happens alongside these expulsions. Advanced economic and technical achievements enable this wealth and the expulsion of surplus groups. At the same time, Sassen writes, they create a kind of nebulous centrelessness as the locus of power:

The oppressed have often risen against their masters. But today the oppressed have mostly been expelled and survive a great distance from their oppressors … The “oppressor” is increasingly a complex system that combines persons, networks, and machines with no obvious centre.

Surplus populations removed from the productive aspects of the social world may rapidly increase in the near future as improvements in AI and robotics potentially result in significant automation unemployment. Large swaths of society may become productively and economically redundant. For historian Yuval Noah Harari “the most important question in 21st-century economics may well be: what should we do with all the superfluous people?”

We would be left with the scenario of a small elite that has an almost total concentration of wealth with access to the most powerfully transformative technologies in world history and a redundant mass of people, no longer suited to the evolutionary environment in which they find themselves and entirely dependent on the benevolence of that elite. The dehumanising treatment of today’s expelled groups shows that prevailing liberal values in developed countries don’t always extend to those who don’t share the same privilege, race, culture or religion.

In an era of radical technological power, the masses may even represent a significant security threat to the elite, which could be used to justify aggressive and authoritarian actions (perhaps enabled further by a culture of surveillance).

Life in the Hunger Games.

In their transhumanist tract, The Proactionary Imperative, Steve Fuller and Veronika Lipinska argue that we are obliged to pursue techno-scientific progress relentlessly, until we achieve our god-like destiny or infinite power – effectively to serve God by becoming God. They unabashedly reveal the incipient violence and destruction such Promethean aims would require: “replacing the natural with the artificial is so key to proactionary strategy … at least as a serious possibility if not a likelihood [it will lead to] the long-term environmental degradation of the Earth.”

The extent of suffering they would be willing to gamble in their cosmic casino is only fully evident when analysing what their project would mean for individual human beings:

A proactionary world would not merely tolerate risk-taking but outright encourage it, as people are provided with legal incentives to speculate with their bio-economic assets. Living riskily would amount to an entrepreneurship of the self … [proactionaries] seek large long-term benefits for survivors of a revolutionary regime that would permit many harms along the way.

Progress on overdrive will require sacrifices.

God-like elites.

The economic fragility that humans may soon be faced with as a result of automation unemployment would likely prove extremely useful to proactionary goals. In a society where vast swaths of people are reliant on handouts for survival, market forces would determine that less social security means people will risk more for a lower reward, so “proactionaries would reinvent the welfare state as a vehicle for fostering securitised risk taking” while “the proactionary state would operate like a venture capitalist writ large”.

At the heart of this is the removal of basic rights for “Humanity 1.0”, Fuller’s term for modern, non-augmented human beings, replaced with duties towards the future augmented Humanity 2.0. Hence the very code of our being can and perhaps must be monetised: “personal autonomy should be seen as a politically licensed franchise whereby individuals understand their bodies as akin to plots of land in what might be called the ‘genetic commons’”.

The neoliberal preoccupation with privatisation would so extend to human beings. Indeed, the lifetime of debt that is the reality for most citizens in developed advanced capitalist nations, takes a further step when you are born into debt – simply by being alive “you are invested with capital on which a return is expected”.

Socially moribund masses may thus be forced to serve the technoscientific super-project of Humanity 2.0, which uses the ideology of market fundamentalism in its quest for perpetual progress and maximum productivity. The only significant difference is that the stated aim of godlike capabilities in Humanity 2.0 is overt, as opposed to the undefined end determined by the infinite “progress” of an ever more efficient market logic that we have now.

A new politics

Some transhumanists are beginning to understand that the most serious limitations to what humans can achieve are social and cultural – not technical. However, all too often their reframing of politics falls into the same trap as their techno-centric worldview. They commonly argue the new political poles are not left-right but techno-conservative or techno-progressive (and even techno-libertarian and techno-sceptic. Meanwhile Fuller and Lipinska argue that the new political poles will be up and down instead of left and right: those who want to dominate the skies and became all powerful, and those who want to preserve the Earth and its species-rich diversity. It is a false dichotomy. Preservation of the latter is likely to be necessary for any hope of achieving the former.

Transhumanism and advanced capitalism are two processes which value “progress” and “efficiency” above everything else. The former as a means to power and the latter as a means to profit. Humans become vessels to serve these values. Transhuman possibilities urgently call for a politics with more clearly delineated and explicit humane values to provide a safer environment in which to foster these profound changes. Where we stand on questions of social justice and environmental sustainability has never been more important. Technology doesn’t allow us to escape these questions – it doesn’t permit political neutrality. The contrary is true. It determines that our politics have never been more important. Savulescu is right when he says radical technologies are coming. He is wrong in thinking they will fix our morality. They will reflect it.

EMF take-down of America by Alien ET technology: How far has it gone?

Note: This article is written for those who are up to speed on the Secret Space War Program and the Secret Shadow Government (SSG) and if you are not you are probably wasting your time reading this article.
Even those involved in such programs often are allowed to only gain knowledge of a narrow compartmented slice. VT has allowed articles to be presented which attempt to fill that void.

Despite vociferous official denials, it is now known that Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMF) can entrain brain waves, cause electrical conduction irregularities in the heart function, cause sleep irregularities, migraines and cancer without doing any tissue heating.

For many years it has been the official USG position that Electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) can only be harmful if tissue is heated.

This has now been shown in numerous peer reviewed studies to be notably untrue, that in fact EMF can entrain brain waves and can disturb electrical conductance in the heart without heating tissue at all.

I have written prior articles which described the sophisticated Globalist agenda to psychotronically oppress We The People using cell phones and cell phone towers, Wi-Fi, dirty electricity and other forms of EMF including custom targeting by ground stations and satellite. I also listed some countermeasures that are now being used to mitigate the effects.

The use of Smart-meters is now beginning to become understood as a sophisticated spy device. Citizens all over America are beginning to organize, to protest about them. But there is even more to these sophisticated spy devices.

There are numerous claims that they cause fires (they are not UL rated and some claim they are technically illegal for home use because of that according to state fire codes).

There are also numerous claims that they cause serious and debilitating health problems like migraine headaches, insomnia, nervousness, and a myriad of strange health problems that appeared suddenly not previously appeared so frequently. Some claim that they cause various kinds of cancer.

And although many of these claims are being made by homeowners who just had a Smart-meter installed, some have been substantiated by well qualified scientists all over the world in various nations.

And there are new peer reviewed research studies which are showing that the EMF levels that Smart-meters radiate and expose homeowners to are strong enough to cause serious health problems for those who have a Smart-meter installed or close by.

Are Smart-meters just another type of SSG soft-kill deployed to tranquilize the populace and make folks sick and prematurely dead over time?

These Smart-meters are usually installed without customer/homeowner consent; and always without their “informed consent” which is required by case law for medical devices.

And there is now substantial evidence to suggests that Smart-meters are actually functioning as unlicensed, unapproved medical devices that have been deployed without giving the public any serious informed consent of the risks (which are substantial).

Besides this it appears that there have been some very deep, dark secrets at play here because “national security directives” have been invoked behind the true purpose of this “Smart Grid” program.

DARPA has been working on this stuff forever

Looks like the Smart Grid system is high priority and a “national security” mandated system.

Top Officials involved in deploying this Smart Grid program express serious fear when pressed for an explanation of the public safety aspects of this system. Looks like this has been driven by a very powerful Intel related group that is taking orders from somebody. The question is from who or what?

There have been anecdotal unsubstantiated reports by insiders that some such officials feels their very lives are in jeopardy if they disclose what they known and their own personal concerns. Apparently some have actually been threatened with serious ramifications if they disclose what they have been told in secret. Some have allegedly had their lives threatened by US Intel agents.

Some officials have had to sign confidentiality/secrecy agreements and have been told that the Smart Grid system is a top secret sophisticated Intelligence gathering tool needed to prevent nuclear and other forms of terrorism and organized crime.

This is true but there is more that is not being disclosed, that the system has the capability to be utilized as a very sophisticated weapon that involves “no direct touching” of the victim.

Yes, there is now new evidence emerging that the implementation of Smart-meters (and the Smart Grid) is actually a sophisticated weapon of war when one examines its full capabilities.

It is my view based on the level of technological sophistication employed by Smart-meters, they are based on sophisticated Alien ET technology provided through exchange programs.

Just how deeply involved has the USG become involved with Alien ETs and how much of their advanced technology has been gained or back-engineered.

We now know for certain that the US Secret Shadow Government (SSG) has recovered and worked at back-engineering numerous crashed Alien ET anti-gravity craft. We also know for certain that dead Alien ET bodies were recovered; at least one live alien ET was rescued and kept in captivity; and the USG secretly has formed exchange programs based on signed treaties with Alien ETs.

In these Alien ET exchange programs Alien ET super advanced technology has been exchanged for use of human subjects and their biological samples. In one program in particular at the Dulce N.M. Deep Underground Military Base (DUMB), a certain USAF Military contractor is working with Alien ETs on a joint program to hybridize humans and synthesize the human soul and to develop clone replicas of top officials and top politicians. I heard one claim made that the massive immigration, legal and illegal has been mandated to provide cover for these hybrids and some human looking Alien ETs to enter society.

Just how advanced has the implementation of Alien ET technology become inside the Secret Space War Program and does the Smart Grid System employ this technology?

What do we now know for a fact exists because of vetted insider reports now made public? We have reports from vetted insiders that Alien ET anti-gravity craft have been recovered.

If anecdotal insider reports are accurate, hybridizations and cloning has been successful to a point. However if reports are true, attempts to synthesize the human soul so far have been unsuccessful and doomed to failure. Same for the attempts to transfer one “mind” into a clone made to look like them from their own DNA. The clones have short lives and often strange neurological (CNS) glitches.

Some have claimed that hybridization produces a hived psychopath with no soul, but this has not been substantiated.

There are now unsubstantiated reports which I consider valid that all secrecy has unofficially ended because of the new quantum based D-wave inter-dimensional based spy systems. In these systems which have become satellite based, no computer circuit on or off is safe from quantum access. D-waves have been purported to cross through a dimension where distance and time is different than what we normally experience.

From all the leaks coming out it seems apparent that all secrecy is now ending and anything written or spoken is now available to the various largest, most advanced Intel Agencies.

In any event, it is not unreasonable to ask the question, have the top Secret Shadow Government (SSG) officials who run the Secret Space War Program (SSWP) become themselves seriously mind-kontrolled by Alien ETs whom they have been working with?

Have these top SSG officials who sit on the major control board (MJ) become tools of Alien ETs in the take-down of America and even the human species? When one ponders the deep dark secrets behind the anti-human deployment of the Smart Grid, it quickly suggests that some sinister anti-human force has taken over those who run the USG and the SSG.

Conclusion and ramifications
The Smart Grid has been deployed, it appears to be a very high-tech sophisticated weaponized EMF system. And there is deep secrecy and strong political muscle behind this deployment.

Is the small group of top officials pushing this Smart Grid System upon us run by an evil Alien ET group attempting a take-down of Earth so they can get rid of the human race and repopulate it with their own creations? Or is this sinister deployment merely a result of the *BT/RKM/COL World Bankster franchise system of perpetual debt-bondage and war.

When you shake the box the puzzle enters state 2 which is a disordered state. The probability that you open the box to find the puzzle forming a clear picture is extremely small. Then, the more you shake the box, the more the pieces will get into disordered states.

Psychological Arrow of Time:

The direction of the psychological arrow of time is the same as the thermodynamic arrow. It describes the fact that humans remember events in one direction: from the past to the present and the future is unknown. It can never be the opposite where we remember the future and predict the past.

Cosmological Arrow of Time:

This type shows that the universe is expanding. Scientists have long thought about the beginning of our universe. They reached the conclusion that the universe started in a tiny ordered state and started to expand after the Big Bang leading to the suitable conditions to occur therefore making the intelligent life possible.

Thus, all the above facts show us that time goes only in one direction like a railway. But a question of concern arises: Can there be a branch of this railway that takes us back to a point in the past?

Hawking claims that there is a “chronology protection conjecture” which means that the laws of physics conspire to prevent humans and macroscopic bodies from traveling into the past. This is what Hawking believes in but he says that time travel is still an open discussion.

Great Pyramid of Giza could be hiding 4,000-year-old secret

Thermography is a scanning technique that detects the heat given off by objects, while muography picks up particles called “muons” that are produced when cosmic rays smash into the Earth’s atmosphere.

Muography was used to find hidden tunnels inside the Bent Pyramid, which was given its name due to the wonky shape of its structure.

“All the devices we put in place are designed to find where the cavity is located. We know there is one, but we’re trying to find out where,” said Mehdi Tayoubi, president of the HIP Institute, which is heading the ScanPyramids project.

In the 200 years since Napoleon Bonaparte landed in Egypt with a retinue of scholars – who laid the groundwork for modern Egyptology – experts have used science to unlock the secrets of the country’s ancient treasures.

In the 21st century, the scientists have been using electronic devices and chemical testing to date artifacts.

Chemical testing still requires small samples, but advanced techniques coming into use are meant to be non-invasive so as not to damage the ancient relics.

The video has the following description: this is the craziest and most impressive thing I´ve seen on my life, lightning hits a river and causes an explosion, if you aren´t afraid of swimming on a pool when lightning fall now you should.
Several persons have sent me this video so we find out if it is true that a lightning caused this or if it’s a computer generated image.

Lightning Strikes a River, Sparks Explosion?

A video purportedly showing a bolt of lightning striking a river actually shows a controlled explosion by an engineering company.

In July 2017, a video purportedly showing “a bolt of lightning striking a river” went viral on social media: 

Meteorologist Dan Skoff lent credence to the claim when he reposted the video on Facebook, along with the following message:

This is crazy! One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen with lightning. Almost doesn’t look real!

If you aren’t terrified of lightning in a swimming pool, you will be now!

This video, however, does not actually show a bolt of lightning striking a river. When the video is slowed down, it is easy to tell that the “lightning” strike doesn’t come from the sky, but from a wire on the hill. Here’s a screenshot showing the moment of impact (which can be glimpsed at the 7-second mark in the video above):

This video was uploaded to Youtube by Finnish water engineering company Rannikon Merityö in 2012, under the title “Porapaalutusta, osa 3: Räjäytys” (Drilling rig, part 3: Blasting). Although this clip was not accompanied by any additional information, the video was included on the company’s web site on a page about underwater mining and blasting:

TAKE SUBMERGED MINING AND BLASTING WORK TO AN EXPERT

Mining and construction of beaches and underwater rock in Turku archipelago and surroundings. Underwater quarrying lowers the rock surface level in the lake, ocean or other waters. Before the excavation work is started, a mining and blasting plan is planned to ensure that everything is safely accomplished. The rock mining in water is licensed and may require the permission of the regional government agency (AVI). 

WHERE IS UNDERWATER MINING SUITABLE?

Underwater quarrying is used for the refurbishment of beaches and waterways and the creation of sea symbols. In addition, the deepening, construction and maintenance of waterways are carried out in mining and blasting operations. Extraction is carried out by inserting underwater special explosives into the drilling holes, which are immersed in drilled holes in the rock. Customers can be private customers, ports, and marinas.

As several pieces of debris can be seen floating in the river shortly after the explosion, it seems most likely that Rannikon Merityö used a detonation cord to dislodge a stump or a tree from the river. Regardless of the exact reason for this explosion, it’s clear that this video shows the work of a dredging company, not a bolt of lightning. 

Meteorologist Skoff later updated his Facebook post to note that the video did not actually show a bolt of lightning striking a river:

This is crazy! It’s not lightning, BUT instead a detonation cord! There is no flash from the clouds & the bolt just seems to come from the top of the hill. They probably had some explosives detonate under water. Still cool though.

A similar explosion can be seen in the following video showing the removal of the City Mill Dam in the U.S. state of Georgia’s Chattahoochee River. An almost identical “lightning bolt” can be seen flashing across the water at the 1:30 mark:

While we do not advise hopping into an outdoor pool during a raging thunderstorm, we can assure you that should you disregard that advice and lightning strikes during your swim, it may be exceedingly unpleasant — but it won’t look like these videos.

While driving and accelerating in his car, a patient in France suddenly had a bizarre sensation. He felt like he was outside his car, looking in at his physical self, which was still at the wheel.

Maya Elzière, an ear, nose and throat specialist at Hôpital Européen in Marseille, France, and co-author of the study, enlisted patients who had experienced a range of issues, from recurrent vertigo and tinnitus to infections in the ear. Among these patients, 14 percent reported out-of-body experiences, compared with only 5 percent of healthy people without vestibular disorders who said the same. The supposed remains of Sa-Nakht, a pharaoh of ancient Egypt, may be the oldest known human giant, a new study finds.

Prior work suggested that the skeleton of the man — who would have stood at up to 6 feet, 1.6 inches (1.987 meters) tall — may have belonged to Sa-Nakht, a pharaoh during the Third Dynasty. Previous research on ancient Egyptian mummies suggested the average height for men around this time was about 5 foot, 6 inches (1.7 m), said study co-author Michael Habicht, an Egyptologist at the University of Zurich's Institute of Evolutionary Medicine. The remains of a 110-million-year-old tank-size dinosaur — so well preserved that a museum preparator said it looks like a statue of a sleeping dragon — show that this fearsome creature was covered in armor and spikes. But despite this natural "chain mail," the dino needed to camouflage itself from potential predators, according to a new study.

Mitchell's careful preparation unveiled a black sheath covering parts of the 3,000-lb. (1,360 kilogram) specimen. This sheath, researchers suspected, contained remnants of the dinosaur's skin. [Read more about the camouflaged dino.]

Ancient Fidget Spinner?

A 4,000-year-old Mesopotamian artifact that looks just like a fidget spinner and that a museum labeled as a "spinning toy" for 85 years is actually — unexpectedly — an ancient weapon, curators told Live Science.

The artifact dates to between 2000 B.C. and 1800 B.C. and was made in the ancient site of Tell Asmar, located in present-day Iraq. When researchers first published an analysis of the object, in 1932, they suggested it was a plaything, Kiersten Neumann, a curator and research associate at the Oriental Institute, told Live Science in an email. Forgeries Force Closure

An art exhibit in Genoa, Italy, featuring the works of modern painter Amedeo Clemente Modigliani, recently closed three days ahead of schedule, after suspicions arose that many of the paintings were likely forgeries.

Officials confiscated the contested works after Italian art critic Carlo Pepi filed a complaint with the Carabinieri Headquarters for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (TPC), also known as the "art police," The Telegraph reported on July 14. This highly specialized police force handles criminal activity related to fine art and antiquities, according to a description on the TPC website. [Read more about the accusations.]

Firefighters in Ohio were forced to decapitate a pet boa constrictor last week that had latched its teeth onto a woman's nose and wound its serpentine body around her neck, according to news sources. The woman survived, but the incident raises the question: Do boas typically attack the faces and necks of people?

In the incident ,which occurred on July 27, the woman couldn't pry the 5.5-foot-long (1.6 meters) snake off, so she called 911 at 2 p.m. local time. She told emergency workers that she had taken on two boa constrictors as "rescue snakes" the day before and had 11 snakes total in her home, according to audio of the emergency call. Ancient Fort

Archaeologists have recently unearthed the traces of an ancient Pictish fort in Scotland underneath an 1800s-era town.

A fort that is more than 1,000 years old, dating back to the time of Alfred the Great, has been unearthed in Scotland, more than 200 years after it was thought to have been completely destroyed.

Almost nothing survives of the mysterious Pictish culture, including the name they called themselves. The Romans first mentioned the Picts, which means "painted people," likely because of their distinctive tattoos and war paint. However, relatively few Pictish writings survive, and much of what historians know about the Picts' early history comes from the accounts of Roman speechwriters such as Eumenius. In 1995, an intriguing documentary was broadcast on TV stations across the United States. It was titled Alien Encounters from New Tomorrowland and supposedly was produced with the sole purpose of promoting Disneyworld’s then-new “ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter” attraction in Orlando, Florida.

Throughout the documentary’s forty-minute run-time, the presenter/narrator, Robert Urich, makes numerous declarative statements to the effect that UFOs are one-hundred-percent real and extraterrestrial in origin. Such statements include: “For nearly fifty years, officials have been documenting routine alien encounters here on earth,” “More than one alien craft crashed and was recovered for secret US military research,” and “Military and scientific leaders will soon release nearly a half-century of official documentation of ongoing alien encounters on earth.”

The majority of the documentary is focused on UFOs and extraterrestrials as a factual reality. The ‘ExtraTERRORestrial’ ride itself receives very little screen-time, and seems like an afterthought. The documentary was aired in only a handful of US cities at seemingly random times on selected dates in February and March 1995 with no notice—an incredibly odd marketing strategy considering its purpose was to promote a major theme park attraction for families.

Since its original limited broadcast in 1995, the Disney documentary has become engrained into conspiracy lore, or, perhaps more usefully, we could say that it has become entrenched into what Lorin Cutts terms The UFO Mythological Zone, which he describes as “the gap between fact and belief, what we see and what we want to see, what we experience and how we interpret it.” Cutts observes that “People are forming highly personalized variations of the one core belief—the belief in a UFO reality. All else is up for individual interpretation via the UFO mythological zone.”

Cutts’ theory certainly applies to Disney’s now legendary UFO documentary. Soon after its original broadcast, many in the UFO community quickly began to speculate that it was a form of “soft Disclosure;” a test of public reaction to a possible future announcement of alien contact. In recent years, rumours have swirled online that the documentary was “lost,” or even “banned” by shadowy forces. This is categorically not the case. It was never lost. It was never banned. It was simply never transferred to video or DVD, and it remained in a state of limbo until a few years ago when someone inevitably decided to upload an original TV recording of the documentary to YouTube. It has since received more than a million views online.

Despite there being no truth to rumors of its suppression, the documentary remains something of an oddity, and the justification for its production remains fuzzy to this day, especially in the context of a related project that was produced in the same year as the documentary, also supposedly intended as a marketing tool for Disney’s “ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter” ride. This tie-in project was a major UFO conference held at Disneyworld in January of 1995, a couple of months prior to the broadcast of the documentary. Titled “UFOs: The Reality of the Phenomenon,” this Disney conference has also since passed into The UFO Mythological Zone.

While researching my book, Silver Screen Saucers, I decided to track down the writer/director of the Disney UFO documentary, Andrew Thomas. He told me I was the only person ever to have contacted him about this curious little production, and he was only too happy to talk about it. I also wanted the inside story of the Disney UFO conference, and how it related to the theme park ride. To this end, I interviewed Don Ecker, the man responsible for organizing the conference for Disney. Like Thomas, Ecker told me that, to the best of his recollection, I was the only person ever to have sought an interview with him on this topic.

This two-part article presents the inside story of Disney’s 1995 UFO documentary and conference, as told by the two men most directly responsible for them respectively: Andrew Thomas and Don Ecker. It also provides some limited speculation as to the possible purpose of these two related projects; be warned, though: in doing so, it skirts around the edges of The Mythological Zone, albeit hopefully without losing its footing and slipping into the sludge.

Before we go any further, in the further interests of maintaining balance, I’d like to point the readers’ attention to another article—an excellent two-parter by David Halperin, which also explores the history and assumed purpose of these very same Disney projects. By reading both my article and Halperin’s, you will hopefully get a full and level history of this curious chapter in UFO lore, though you may still be left scratching your head as to precisely why these curious projects ever were funded in the first place.

I interviewed the documentary’s writer/director, Andrew Thomas, in 2011. Thomas told me how he had been selected by Disney for this project based on his background in reality TV, having been the original producer of the phenomenally successful TV show, Cops. “Making things exceptionally real was the line of work that I was in at the time,” he said. Thomas had also worked for Columbia Pictures as head of special marketing on Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Thomas told me that Disney had requested a documentary “about the history of mankind and aliens. Not a film history, but more of a realistic approach… a special about the history of UFO sightings.” Disney’s only stipulation was that “the last five minutes had to focus on the ride.” Thomas confirmed to me that, instead of giving the documentary network time, Disney’s plan from the outset was to “seed it into independent television stations across the country.”

But why did Thomas’ documentary take such a strong stance in favour of UFO/ET reality? He summed-up his approach as follows:

I figured, instead of asking people to question ‘could it be possible?’ to just adopt the point of view that alien visitation has been going on for 50 years, and everybody’s known about it. I thought it fit with the ultra-realistic nature of the ride that we were eventually trying to promote. I did it kind of naively. I said to myself ‘okay, I’m going to believe everything and I’m going to collect all this stuff and construct what would be a documentary if we all just had a consensus that the UFO phenomenon was real…’ We didn’t make up anything, but it certainly surprised the people at Disney.

Thomas told me he wrote the script in just a few hours while flying back from Florida to his home in Los Angeles. “There was nothing to it,” he said, “it just kind of came out, it was easy.” Furthermore, Thomas told me that he conducted the vast majority his research at the National Archives and stressed that, beyond these archival visits, “there was no direct government contact” on the production. “I didn’t get any special access from anybody,” he said.

These statements from Thomas almost completely dismantle the idea that the Disney documentary was anything other than a promo for a theme park ride. However, there were aspects of the Alien Encounters project that even Thomas considered strange. Disney CEO Michael Eisner took a direct interest in the documentary, personally vetting its content and even filming his own introduction for the piece. Thomas mused:

I thought it was really odd because this was kind of a minor marketing project, but Disney put a lot of weight into it. I mean, Eisner doesn’t have to stop walking down the street to pick up a twenty-dollar-bill—it’s not worth his time. But they had him look through this. And he filmed this intro to the show. He had his own film crew take him out to a sound stage and film his own intro, which I thought was just really surprising.

Also surprising to Thomas was Disney’s inexplicable TV scheduling for the documentary, which he described as “completely counter-intuitive” because “it played on independent stations in the afternoon at like 2 o’clock or 3 o’ clock, or some horrible time when no one would be watching it.”

Why was Michael Eisner so personally invested in what, on the surface at least, was a minor TV marketing project? And why the bizarre and “totally counter-intuitive” TV scheduling for the documentary?

Let us for a moment indulge the popular conspiratorial interpretation of events. If powerful UFO-related interests were involved in the documentary—perhaps having recommended Thomas to Disney knowing what he would produce based on his sophisticated viral work on Spielberg’s Close Encounters—then Thomas himself may have been oblivious to this fact. He would have been a pawn in a much larger game. But this interpretation seems incredibly farfetched, and I put no stock at all in the “acclimation” theory. There’s simply no evidence to support it.

However, there is compelling circumstantial evidence for the theory that Hollywood historically has been exploited as a tool for UFO “perception management”—an agenda more subtle and complex than simple acclimation; one relating to psychological warfare, in which controllable, faith-based subcultures are exploited, cultivated and steered towards various intelligence ends, both foreign and domestic, not necessarily even related to UFOs. Anyone who doubts that popular UFO beliefs have been steered and shaped significantly by intelligence operatives for self-serving ends should make time to prove themselves wrong by reading Greg Bishop’s Project Beta and Mark Pilkington’s Mirage Men.

Certainly, it can be said that the content of the Disney documentary served to strongly reinforce ideas that had thus far been sown into the UFO community by disinformation operatives dating back at least to the early-1980s. Was the documentary intended as a furtherance of these covert efforts to encourage certain misguided and exploitable beliefs within the UFO subculture?

The Disney/UFO connection can be traced back to 1953 when the CIA-sponsored Robertson Panel recommended that the US government make efforts to strip UFOs of their “aura of mystery” through the exploitation of mass media, including television and motion pictures. In this context, the panel highlighted Walt Disney Productions as a potential conduit for its propaganda. The panel’s attraction to Disney made sense given the animation giant’s then firmly established working relationship with the US government: not only was Uncle Walt a trusted friend of President Eisenhower’s chief propagandist, C.D. Jackson, in the early-mid-1950s, he also made numerous propaganda shorts for the US military during WWII and later helped produce films promoting Eisenhower’s “Atoms for Peace” policy, as well as the retrospectively hilarious Duck and Cover documentary, which depicted schoolchildren surviving an atomic attack by sheltering under their desks.

That the Robertson Panel highlighted Disney is also significant because the Panel’s recommendation to debunk UFOs through media channels is known to have been acted upon in at least one instance: the CBS TV broadcast of UFOs: Friend, Foe, or Fantasy? a 1966 anti-UFO documentary narrated by Walter Cronkite. In a letter addressed to former Robertson Panel Secretary Frederick C. Durant, Dr Thornton Page confided that he “helped organize the CBS TV show around the Robertson Panel conclusions,” even though this was thirteen years after the Panel had first convened. In light of this case alone, it seems not unreasonable to speculate that the government may at least have attempted to follow through on the Robertson Panel’s Disney recommendation.

There appears to have been a direct connection between Disney, UFOs, and the military in a case involving the famed Oscar-winning Disney animator, Ward Kimball. While speaking at a conference for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) in 1979, Kimball claimed that the USAF had approached Walt Disney himself in the mid-1950s, requesting his cooperation on a documentary that would help acclimate the public to extraterrestrial reality. Kimball knew this because, as one of Disney’s most trusted animators, he was directly involved in the project. In exchange for Disney’s cooperation, said Kimball, the USAF would supply the animation giant with real UFO footage for exclusive use in his documentary. According to Kimball, Disney accepted the deal and began work immediately on the USAF project.

While Disney waited patiently for the USAF to provide the UFO footage, his animators (Kimball among them) produced conceptual designs of what an alien might look like. However, the offer of the UFO footage was eventually withdrawn, provoking Kimball himself to challenge the official military liaison for the project–a USAF Colonel who told him that “there was indeed plenty of UFO footage, but that neither [Kimball], nor anyone else was going to get access to it.” The project was abandoned and forgotten by all but the few who had worked on it.

Disney has maintained its close historical ties to officialdom over the decades. In 1994, one year prior to the Alien Encounters documentary, Disney worked closely with the Pentagon during the production of In the Army Now (1994). The Pentagon gave this feature-length Army recruitment advert its full cooperation, providing Disney with expensive military hardware and on-set advice from DOD personnel. Disney has also historically been tied to the US arms industry. Between the years 2000 and 2011, Disney directors-board-member John Bryson simultaneously served as a director of the Boeing Company, one of the world’s largest aerospace and defense contractors (selling dreams with one hand, and missiles with the other).

More bizarrely, the 2009 Disney UFO movie Race to Witch Mountain appears to have received covert assistance from the CIA. In a highly unusual production arrangement, Fickman claims he and his crew were closely assisted by an active employee of the Agency whose advice extended even to designing the film’s onscreen alien language. Fickman’s advisor—whom he secured through “back door channels”—also recommended that certain UFO-themed content be removed from the script and even accompanied Fickman on a private tour of NORAD’s Cheyenne Mountain facility where they chatted with military top brass. “I don’t think there was anything abnormal about what they were doing,” Fickman told me in 2010, “I just think it was that phone calls were being made and doors were sort of opening.”

All of this is very intriguing, no doubt. But, let’s face it, the above examples of Disney/government cooperation prove nothing at all with regards to the 1995 Disney UFO documentary. 1. KELLY CAHILL

Kelly Cahill and her husband were driving home in Melbourne in Australia on August 8th, 1993 when they had a terrifying experience which many believe involved an alien craft. As they were driving, the couple spotted a pair of lights shining in the sky. Upon closer observation, they realized that the lights were attached to a round flying vehicle which hovered in the sky momentarily before blasting away in a split second. After a few moments, the car the couple was traveling inside of was suddenly illuminated with intensely bright lights, and they realized that the craft was directly above them. Kelly’s husband picked up the pace and drove quickly in a bid to escape the craft. Fortunately, for the couple, the vessel appeared to lose interest in them and disappeared.

2. BETTY AND BARNEY HILL

The Hills were an ordinary couple from the United States of America who could never dream that they would become witnesses to one of the most unusual UFO encounters of the 1960s. While the couple was traveling to their home in New Hampshire after a weekend outing to Niagara Falls, Betty spotted a bright light moving across the sky. At first, she thought that the object was a falling star, but she quickly realized that it was not as it was moving fairly erratically and growing bigger and brighter. Betty became convinced that the object was a UFO. Her skeptical husband pulled over the car, believing that it was nothing more than a commercial liner. However, he too would quickly become convinced that they had witnessed an alien craft.

3. THE FALCON LAKE INCIDENT

On the 19th of May 1967, prospector Stefan Michalak left his home in Canada and traveled to Falcon Lake. After spending a bit of time getting settled in his hotel room, he began digging on the bay of the lake. He was engrossed in his work when his attention was alerted by the startled noises of several geese nearby. He then looked up and saw two cigar-shaped vessels flashing red and orange lights in the sky. He watched as one of the vessels sank and landed on a rock close to where he was. The other craft then changed color to a dull gray and disappeared into the sky. After a brief moment, the landing craft turned to the same color. After that, a strong smell of sulfur could be detected in the area. No explanation for what happened has ever been offered.

4. THE MAURY ISLAND INCIDENT

A mere two weeks before the Roswell crash in New Mexico, Maury Island in Washington State was the site of a terrifying UFO experience. A man named Harold Dahl who worked on the sea around the area was engaged in one of his usual jobs of gathering wayward logs out of the Puget Sound when he became aware of no less than six doughnut shaped objects flying approximately 2000 feet above his boat. He described these objects as be around 100 feet in diameter with a central hole of around 25 feet. One of the boats descended suddenly and came within only 500 feet of the water before suddenly disappearing.

Hollywood Actor Opens Up About UFO Experiences For The First Time Ever

American actor Yaphet Kotto, who is known for several film roles, opens up about his UFO experiences. The 77-year-old actor who starred in blockbuster films including alien (1979), The Running Man (1987) and Live and Let Die (1973) talks about it publicly for the first time. Prior to it, he only told his wife, a rabbi and a psychologist.

According to Kotto, his lifelong UFO experiences started when he was a child in his own home. He briefly encountered an entity that was at least five or six feet tall with an elongated head.

Since then, he claimed to have seen unusual things, including a stadium-sized UFO turning upside down, which blotted out the entire sky.

Kotto also described a sighting through meditation wherein a UFO would show up as if by request but did not elaborate further on it.

The actor said that he doesn’t care whether anyone thinks he is delusional. He also added that he has nothing to promote at this time, so his delusion is over.
