3D illustration of the dark matter explosion and creation of the universe with billions of cosmic atoms, flying meteors, a lot of of light elements, and halos of new stars

Credit: Jamie Farnes.

What Are These Mysterious Sky Phenomenon? (Video)

What Are These Mysterious Sky Phenomenon? (Video)

by N.Morgan

For the last few weeks, the skies have been filled with these unexplainable, boomerang shaped craft that are being seen across the country.

In the video below, MrMBB333 pieces together these different sightings and researches the possible causes or reasons for their existence. He shares his sighting and gives his best assessment of his experience.

It seems that one the days in which the skies are filled with chemtrails, these triangle shapes appear.es Geoengineering help propel these objects?  Or is it a mere coincidence these occurrences are happening at the same time?

‘Oumuamua’s Silence Actually Says a Lot

Scientists just changed their mind about that ‘Alien Probe’ asteroid again

‘Oumuamua’s Silence Actually Says a Lot

‘Oumuamua, the interstellar interloper who buzzed through the solar system before we had a chance to really get to know it, is becoming like one of those mystery guests at a party or wedding. You know the type. Everyone kind of remembers something about them but no one actually talked to them, no one is quite sure who invited them and the pictures and videos are blurred or only show them from the back. That’s ‘Oumuamua … and another group of astronomers/guests just issued a new report saying they’ve been listening to it ever since and haven’t heard a thing. Did someone offend our mysterious, possibly alien guest? Or is it really just a space rock?

“We were looking for a signal that would prove that this object incorporates some technology – that it was of artificial origin.”

Dr. Gerald Harp from the SETI Institute is the lead author of a paper – “Radio SETI observations of the interstellar object ′OUMUAMUA” published in the February edition of Acta Astronautica – which details work done by scientists using the Allen Telescope Array (ATA) in California to listen to ‘Oumuamua as it swung by at a distance of 170 million miles away or less than the diameter of Earth’s orbit.

“Observations were made at radio frequencies between 1 and 10 GHz using the Array’s correlator receiver with a channel bandwidth of 100 kHz. In frequency regions not corrupted by man-made interference, we find no signal flux with frequency-dependent lower limits of 0.01 Jy at 1 GHz and 0.1 Jy at 7 GHz. For a putative isotropic transmitter on the object, these limits correspond to transmitter powers of 30 mW and 300 mW, respectively.”

In astronomical terms, that’s like putting a glass up to the wall of your hotel room and listening to the guests next door. And?

“We didn’t find any such emissions, despite a quite sensitive search. While our observations don’t conclusively rule out a non-natural origin for ‘Oumuamua, they constitute important data in accessing its likely makeup.”

Despite high hopes that it might be an alien spacecraft or probe (like the Harvard scientists who still believe it was), Harp says all they heard was space crickets. Nothing. Not even the whoosh of slight acceleration that a light sail (the Harvard idea) might make as it sped up from being pushed by solar rays.

Does this mean they should pack up the Allen Telescope Array and go home?

“While no signals were found coming from ‘Oumuamua, the types of observations reported by SETI Institute scientists may have utility in constraining the nature of any interstellar objects detected in the future, or even the small, well-known objects in our own solar system.”

Of course not, say the scientists making sure they don’t jeopardize their future funding. This exercise will allow them to refine their listening when the next interstellar object flies by. In fact, those Harvard guys have identified some candidatesalready in the solar system. With this new research, they’re ready for them.

Thanks, ‘Oumuamua!

OSIRIS-REx Probe Finally Reaches Asteroid

Asteroid-3-999x540.jpg

OSIRIS-REx Probe Finally Reaches Asteroid

After travelling more than 1.25 billion miles in 27 months, NASA’s OSIRIS-REx probe has finally reached its destination. On December 3, 2018, the probe reached the diamond-shaped asteroid named Bennu in NASA’s first asteroid-sampling mission. The reason for this $800 million mission is to gather samples from the asteroid and return them to Earth in the year 2023. The name OSIRIS-REx stands for “Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security-Regolith Explorer”.

Asteroid in space (not Bennu)

But the probe isn’t ready to start digging for samples just yet. It is currently flying alongside the asteroid and will continue to do so for the next four weeks. The probe will fly around the 1,650-foot asteroid, even getting as close as 4.4 miles from its surface. The reason for these close flybys is to determine the asteroid’s mass and its exact shape before entering its orbit on December 31st.

Heather Enos, who is from the University of Arizona and is OSIRIS-REx Deputy Principal Investigator, told Space.com, “Manoeuvring around a small body that basically has no gravity is a very challenging endeavor.” She continued by saying, “So, we do have to get a little more information to proceed every step of the way.”

When the probe enters the asteroid’s orbit on December 31st, it will move at just 4 inches per second and get within one mile of its surface which will also set a record for the closest proximity that a spacecraft will have orbited a small body. The probe will then search around the asteroid for the best area to take samples and once an area is picked by July 2020, it will then spiral down to the surface and collect the sample. The entire process of collecting the sample won’t last much longer than about five seconds.

The probe will leave the asteroid in March 2021 and head back to Earth. Then in September 2023, the asteroid sample will land in Utah inside of a special return capsule.

Asteroid in space (not Bennu)

Once the sample is collected, researchers will then study it with high-tech equipment in order to better comprehend the early days of the solar system and the potential role that carbon-rich asteroids could have played in the evolution of life on Earth. And by studying Bennu’s trajectory through space, it could help scientists better understand the non-gravitational forces that determine their paths, therefore helping to predict asteroid-impact forecasts.

Curiosity Rover Finds Mysterious Metallic Object on Mars

Curiosity finds mysterious object on Mars.

Curiosity Rover Finds Mysterious Metallic Object on Mars

Now that our technology can keep up with our interest in Mars and we have a few rovers running around looking at stuff, we’re going to start finding weird things and mysteries. Everything’s new and exciting on another planet. We really have no idea what we might find, especially since scientists are now confident that Mars used to have liquid water and the potential to support life. Of course, Mars is a whole unexplored planet and we’re looking at it through a couple small camera lenses and a time-delay, so naturally everything is going to appear a bit more mysterious than it probably is. The opposite could also hold true: what we see through the Mars rovers’ eyes as just a piece of rock or mineral deposit might, in fact, be the bones of an ancient Martian dinosaur. Well, probably not, but it is true that we’re finding surprising and mysterious things on Mars already.

Last week was full of activity on Mars (relatively). Just after the Insight rover touched down on the Martian surface, NASA reported that the Curiosity rover found a mysterious, shiny object on the Martian surface. NASA nicknamed the object “Little Colonsay,” presumably because it resembles the Isle of Colonsay in Scotland. That means at NASA mission control, when they received pictures of a mysterious, unidentified object from another planet, someone said “Hey, that looks like Scotland!” See? Everyone’s a goofball.

Mysterious object on mars

The Little Colonsay object. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/LANL

Little Colonsay is a small object that stands out from the rest of the Martian surface by how shiny and homogeneous it looks. It’s hard to tell exactly how large it is from the photo, taken by the small black and white camera on the Curiosity rover. It looks to be a reflective metallic material. NASA says the object might be a meteorite:

“The planning team thinks it might be a meteorite because it is so shiny. But looks can deceive, and proof will only come from the chemistry.”

So far, NASA has found six iron meteorites on the surface of Mars, and they all look similar to the Little Colonsay object, though not similar enough to immediately say that it’s an iron meteorite. There are, assuredly, a whole lot of people who would disagree with the planning team and jump to their own conclusions on what its shininess must be proof of.

Martian

Regardless, no one will know what the Little Colonsay object is until Curiosity has a chance to analyze it. NASA says a previous attempt was made to collect the object and analyze its structure, but the rover’s arm missed its target. According to NASA, the object will be analyzed soon.

Whether it’s a meteorite or something else, only time will tell.

Russia’s New Laser Cannon vs. the U.S. Space Force vs China’s FAST

photo-manipulation-1825450_1920-999x540.jpg

Russia’s New Laser Cannon vs. the U.S. Space Force vs China’s FAST

Will the next Cold War be fought in the really cold realm of outer space? Those who think about these things for a living point to the U.S. announcement of the formation of a separate military branch known as the Space Force as an indication of the affirmative. Who will they be fighting? No less of an expert than Nick Pope, former investigator for the British Ministry of Defence (MoD), said this week he believes it was be extraterrestrials. Meanwhile, Russia unveiled its own new space weapon – a laser cannon capable of knocking planes, satellites, flying saucers and other crafts out of space. Is that weapon for us or ‘them’? And what’s China doing while everyone else is watching these two?

“There are conspiracy theories suggesting President Trump’s plans for a Space Force reflect a need to protect Earth against hostile aliens. There were similar conspiracy theories about President Reagan’s Star Wars plan. While there may not be an alien connection, President Trump surely knows all of America’s UFO secrets – some of which were released earlier this year as part of the AATIP project – and this may have contributed to his keenness to develop a military Space Force. And of course he knows that the two key battlespaces in any future conflict are going to be cyberspace and outer space, so it’s vitally important for the US to dominate those battlespaces.”

In an interview with Star Online, Pope hints that the president knows what many of the alleged unidentified objects in the sky really are and, wherever they come from, he wants to be ready in case they start firing, bombing, blasting or something worse. Pope believes President Trump would have demanded to see this information, contrary to conspiracy theorists who contend those with the information are withholding it from him.

“I do not want to reveal more details. It is not the time yet. But experts will understand that with such weaponry, Russia’s capacities for defending itself have multiplied.”

Here’s something else for the Space Force to worry about … Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this week that the Russian army has deployed the Peresvet laser cannon (paging Austin Powers) that can “zap satellites out of space.” Named after Alexander Peresvet, a 14th century Russian Orthodox Christian monk and heroic warrior. The cannon looks sufficiently scary (see the video here) but the announcement did not include a demonstration – is this merely a case of laser-rattling or has it already been used and we just don’t know about it?

If you want to throw in one more superpower, China’s National Astronomical Observatories (NAOC) denied this week that the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) will begin searching for aliens in 2019 despite Wu Xiangping, director-general of the Chinese Astronomical Society, bragging that “It will help us to search for intelligent life outside of the galaxy and explore the origins of the universe.” While NAOC wants the world to believe that FAST is looking for radio millisecond pulsars and gravitational waves, it’s no secret that China wants to be the first nation to publicly announce the discovery of alien life.

Unless it has already visited us, as a NASA scientist implied this week. Who should we believe? Who do YOU believe? Are we in trouble … or is it too late?

Are UFOs and ET the Same Thing? Here’s Why Making That Presumption is a Problem.

Are UFOs and ET the Same Thing? Here’s Why Making That Presumption is a Problem.

It’s been almost a year since the New York Times dropped a bombshell last December, which detailed the existence of a secretive UFO study program overseen by the Pentagon.

The news was shocking for many, as it was the first public confirmation of taxpayer-funded UFO studies undertaken by a U.S. Government agency since the conclusion of Project Bluebook, the United States Air Force study that ended in 1968 (although there are whispers of other, smaller-scale studies that may have occurred since that time).

Few details were given about the program, apart from its name–The Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program–and confirmation of its existence by the likes of Luis Elizondo, the former head of the program, as well as politicians like Harry Reid who helped secure funding for it. It was also revealed that much of the funding allocated for the program–a meager $22 million, according to the NYT–was funneled to aerospace entrepreneur Robert Bigelow, who used it to outsource UFO research to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). Some of the funding may have also been put toward the furtherance of scientific studies of alleged paranormal activity at a ranch southeast of Ballard, Utah, known as Skinwalker Ranch.

Plenty of questions remain about all of this, of course. Despite Elizondo’s entry into the private sector (he now works for Tom DeLonge’s To the Stars Academy, along with a number of other scientists with similar backgrounds in the unexplained), few additional details have been forthcoming about the Pentagon’s UFO interests. There were a few videos that were released, however, reportedly made with Raytheon’s Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) system; but as with most UFO videos, these leave much to the imagination, and remain far from being satisfactory “proof” capable of resting the doubts of the more skeptical among us. In other words, nothing conclusive about UFOs themselves–video or otherwise–has emerged with the knowledge of the Pentagon’s ongoing UFO studies.

Nothing akin to further evidence for their existence was even needed, of course, in order to stir the proverbial pot of public interest. A recent article at The Daily Beast, commenting on a summary of the original New York Times piece that appeared in The New Yorker, quoted the latter as saying that, “The internet went slightly more bananas than usual last weekend over The New York Times’ story implying that extraterrestrials are real and the U.S. government has been tracking them for years.” As The Daily Beast notes, “The [New York Times’s] reporting was long-awaited validation for anyone who has ever claimed a UFO sighting, or an inexplicable encounter with the beyond.

Not so fast.

Did the New York Times really imply, as The New Yorker suggests, “that extraterrestrials are real?” In short, the answer is no: the New York Times article never even used the term “extraterrestrial” (nor it’s acronym form, E.T.)… not even once. This was by design, of course: one of the article’s co-authors, Leslie Kean, has long championed the case for renewed interest in the UFO phenomenon by scientific and government organizations. She has also warned against conflating the terms “UFO” and “extraterrestrial,” and even addressed this specifically in the introduction of her 2010 book UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go On the Record, where she noted:

It’s extremely important to establish at the very beginning that neither I nor the other writers are claiming that there are alien spacecraft in our skies, simply because we do not deny data showing a physical presence of something there. The term “UFO” has been misused and has become so much a part of popular culture that its original (and accurate) definition has been nearly completely lost. Almost everyone equates the term “UFO” with extraterrestrial spacecraft, and thus, in a perverse twist of meaning, the acronym has been transformed to mean something identified rather than something unidentified. The false but widespread assumption that a UFO is, of necessity, an alien spaceship is usually the reason the term generates such an exaggerated and confusing range of emotional responses. A recognition of the extraterrestrial hypothesis as being a valid, although unproved, possible explanation worthy of further scientific scrutiny is something entirely different from approaching the subject of UFOs as if this discovery had already been made.

I doubt that Leslie Kean would call the conflation of terms like UFO and extraterrestrial a “perverse twist of meaning” if she secretly meant “extraterrestrial spacecraft” every time she talked about UFOs. Hence, why it’s all the more important to address the problem she brings to light in the passage above.

No matter how carefully we attempt to frame discussions on the UFO subject, it is often difficult to escape the insinuation that UFOs are synonymous with extraterrestrials. In my own experience, there have been occasions where I have proposed ideas like time travel, interdimensional, or psychosocial phenomenon as alternative hypotheses to explain aspects of the UFO situation (these are speculative ideas, of course, and in my opinion, some are even less likely than the ever-popular “extraterrestrial hypothesis” or ETH. Nonetheless, I have at least been willing to entertain and write about these ideas, though never committing to them in the absence of solid evidence). In such cases, the conversations have often tended to come back around to something like, “so you’re saying that aliens are time travelers from the future?” In essence, the “extraterrestrial” stereotype prevails, even in cases where other theories are on the table.

Even when proposing alternatives like advanced “black budget” or military programs and experimental aircraft as possible sources for some UFO sightings (an idea that should seem entirely plausible, and perhaps even most likely in several cases), the stigma seems to remain. All too often, the idea that our government could have built some of these aircraft becomes attached to shadowy stories of “crash retrievals” and other similar things. In other words, we might be building them… but we couldn’t have learned to do something like that on our own: we must have stolen our ideas from the aliens!

Note the similarity here between the “back-engineered crash retrieval” theories, and the myriad ancient astronaut ideas that have emerged over the years. Whether it’s UFOs we see buzzing around in our skies today or ancient monuments that seem impossible to build even with modern engineering knowledge, the intellectual black hole that is the ET hypothesis remains ever-present.

Of course, the very fact that there are several competing “theories” about what UFOs are points to the bigger problem: that despite the popularity of the “extraterrestrial” idea, rational-minded thinkers who have looked at the subject all realize that there simply isn’t enough evidence to support this idea, or any other theory about them, for that matter. We literally do not yet have enough evidence to tip the scales in favor of any single theory about what UFOs are, despite the accumulation of anecdotal evidence suggesting that they might exist… whatever “they” might be.

The best we seem to be able to do is acknowledge that some theories appear to be more likely than others. Arguably, the ETH could be seen as being more likely than fantastic alternatives like time travel, interdimensional gateways, or notions that UFOs are “quantum-topological” points of intersection between our perceived reality and the “Matrix” exterior to the simulation in which we operate, to paraphrase something cool that David Bowie once supposedly said about a UFO he saw.

Humans like to deal in absolutes, and nobody ever said that getting to the bottom of something like UFOs would be easy. At least on the civilian level, we appear to still be in the mode of trying to determine if there actually is a phenomenon, apart from all the anecdotal data that implies it. If… and that’s a big if… there is a provable phenomenon here worthy of study (as many have argued over the decades), then perhaps some of it could be of extraterrestrial origin. It’s not impossible, but it remains unproven.

We have a ways to go before we can make any firm conclusions about what UFOs are… and that’s why making presumptions about them in the meantime becomes a real problem.

95% of the Universe May Be Covered in a Mysterious ‘Dark Fluid’

GETTY -
CONTRIBUTORA strange 'dark fluid' could fill key gaps in our understanding of the universe

95% of the Universe May Be Covered in a Mysterious ‘Dark Fluid’

Every month it seems like some new form of ‘dark’ stuff is discovered which has the potential to rewrite huge chunks of scientific textbooks: dark matter, dark energy, even dark life. When will the darkness stop? According to some new mind-bending research published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics, never, because 95% of the universe could be covered in a mysterious and bizarre “dark fluid.”

This new study attempts to solve one of the longstanding mysteries of astrophysics: why seemingly empty space in the cosmos seems to exert gravitational forces on objects. Theories proposing dark matter and dark energy don’t quite reconcile the gravitational effects physicists have observed in seeming empty space with the theory of general relativity, and that’s where this new theory of “dark fluid” comes in.

According to Oxford physicist Jamie Farnes, author of the theory, Einstein’s theory of relativity and the concepts of dark matter and dark energy can all work together if we combine dark energy and dark matter into a dark fluid which covers nearly everything in the universe:

Previous approaches to combining dark energy and dark matter have attempted to modify Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which has turned out to be incredibly challenging. This new approach takes two old ideas that are known to be compatible with Einstein’s theory—negative masses and matter creation—and combines them together. The outcome seems rather beautiful: dark energy and dark matter can be unified into a single substance, with both effects being simply explainable as positive mass matter surfing on a sea of negative masses.

Farnes admits that the idea of fluids with negative masses “sounds a little far fetched” but assures that “they are considerably less strange than you may immediately think.” The concepts of negative mass and negative energy can resolve many of the problems in modern physics – although we currently don’t have any way of conclusively proving they exist; their existence is merely inferred from gravitational effects seen in deep space.

Dark matter is speculated to exist throughout the known universe, but identifying concrete evidence remains difficult.

While I can only begin to wrap my head around these theories, it’s pretty fascinating to think that we may only be able to perceive 5% or so of the stuff in the universe around us. Who knows what may be out there

Dark matter: The invisible material that makes up 27% of the universe

Here are the key facts...

  • Dark matter is a material that scientists believe makes up almost a third of the known universe.
  • It has never been observed by scientists because it reflects no light, making it invisible.
  • Astronomers only know it exists because of its effects on other objects, such as the gravitational pull of galaxies.
  • According to the European Space Agency: 'Shine a torch in a completely dark room, and you will see only what the torch illuminates.
  • 'That does not mean that the room around you does not exist.
  • 'Similarly we know dark matter exists but have never observed it directly.'
  • Dark matter is thought to hold galaxies together, stopping the rapidly spinning objects from being torn apart by their own gravity.
  • It is closely linked to dark energy, another hypothetical substance, which is thought to make up 68% of the known universe.
  • Together, that means 95% of the universe is made up of dark energy or dark matter – meaning all but 5% of the cosmos cannot be explained by modern physics.

Cigar-Shaped UFO Filmed Hovering Over Keller, Texas

Cigar-Shaped UFO Filmed Hovering Over Keller, Texas

A recent video showing a cigar-shaped UFO hovering in the sky over Keller, Texas on November 18th, 2019 at sunset.

UFOs%2BTexas.jpg
Image left: UFO Keller, Texas - Image right: UFO El Paso, Texas

For those suggesting blimp, that is a reasonable explanation, however the witness described that it was still for 20 minutes and TexasUFOs could also not find any "cached" internet results that showed that the Goodyear blimp was scheduled for Keller on November 18th.

One commenter said she saw exact the same cigar-shaped object on November 28, 2018 over Katy, Texas. At first she thought it was a weird cloud but then it started to move on and was going pretty fast.

The sighting over Keller, Texas shows much similarity with the UFO sighting over El Paso, Texas on September 5, 2018.

News source:
I have said it before and I will say it again...if you have never seen a UFO and want too...then watch seven sunsets in a row and I promise you will see something that cannot be explained away.

Here a woman in Texas was watching the sunset and was lucky enough to catch a UFO as it hovered in the background. The setting sun really lights it up like a roman candle. During sunset, UFOs become vulnerable to the angle of the sun, human witness and UFO combined. This triangle will allow the UFO to be seen for a few minutes.

We Talked to the Doctor Who Treats People Who Think They've Been Abducted by Aliens

We Talked to the Doctor Who Treats People Who Think They've Been Abducted by Aliens

Nicholas Dumont is the go-to psychologist for people who are certain they've met aliens.

1543923238827-absuct.jpeg?crop=1xw%3A0.8105187319884726xh%3Bcenter%2Ccenter&resize=650%3A*&output-quality=55

A drawing of an abduction by Myriame, one of Dumont's patients.

Nicolas Dumont could not be more casual as we chat about alien abductions. "It's not a hallucinatory experience or a spiritual one," says the clinical psychologist. "The experience leaves physical marks behind, plus victims get extraordinary powers, like the gift of healing or clairvoyance."

Dumont's patients believe they've experienced an alien abduction, with some saying they've been taken multiple times. The claims are so convincing in their detail, says Dumont, that he's fairly certain something must have happened.

Dumont isn't the first psychologist to specialize in this. John Edward Mack, a professor at Harvard and former psychiatrist, spent part of his life studying this same phenomenon, following nearly 200 cases of people who believed they had been abducted by aliens. In 2003, he explained in an interview: "When you're talking to a psychotic who's telling you something that seems like a psychosis, you do get the feeling that it never happened. But in these cases, it's nothing like that. These people are healthy. They question themselves sometimes. But they're describing an experience that's real and intense—something being done to their bodies."

A while ago, I spoke to some of Dumont's patients about their experiences. This time, I wanted to chat to the psychologist about how he thinks he can tell whether someone has been abducted or not and why he's convinced that more medical professionals should be open to believing in the supernatural.

VICE: How many patients have you seen who think they've been abducted by aliens?

Nicolas Dumont: Firstly, it's not as if they all come in saying "I was abducted by aliens," but lots of them think that it might be what happened. In the four years I've been doing this, I've seen about 100 patients, all French, who have shown signs of an abduction. I still see five of them regularly, several years after they first came to me. One of them, Sonia, has been experiencing these kinds of abductions since she was little.

What do you do when someone shows up at your office saying they were taken?

I have a two-pronged approach. First of all, the diagnosis: I want to understand who I'm talking to. A person is, first and foremost, a very precise personality and from a very precise culture. Their cultural context and their approach to the world are fundamental to this part of my approach. Then I go into the exploration phase with the patient. The goal is to clarify what they want. Some want to understand what happened, others want to end it, and, of course, many want confirmation of the idea they were abducted. Lots of them ask me for hypnosis, but that doesn't always work.

Watch: China Built a Space Base in Argentina to Explore the Dark Side of the Moon

So what's the evidence you look for that makes you believe a patient may have been abducted?

Often these people tell me they were awoken in the middle of the night and found themselves paralyzed. They saw non-human beings around them, whether they were at home or in an external place that might have been a spaceship. Sometimes they were in both. Some hadn't experienced anything until they woke up at home thinking it was morning before realizing 48 hours had just gone by. We call that "missing time"—it's very common. The best-known case is that of Betty and Barney Hill in 1966.

From there, whatever your culture and background, the same elements are always there. Almost universally, my patients talk about the presence of a table, very specific beings and telepathic contact. Mentioning these specifics right away focuses my thinking toward whether the person has actually experienced something or not. Very often, these people claim to have new powers. Some people can float out of their bodies, while others acquire healing powers. And most have marks on them from the experience.

"There are also the little gray men who are particularly invasive and devoid of empathy. They’re the worst because their coldness is very often traumatizing."

You talk about "beings." Are there multiple races of aliens trying to contact us?

After several years of research and interviews, I'm convinced there are. It seems like there are reptile aliens who sometimes provoke terror, other times a kind of love. Then you have the blond humanoids who are very tall and paternal; patients feel good around them. There are also the little gray men, who are particularly invasive and devoid of empathy. They're the worst because their coldness is very often traumatizing. Some patients also tell me of contact with insectoid creatures, whom they perceive as superior entities—the ones in charge.

I see. And what are some of the personal traits of the patients who come to see you?

In the vast majority of cases, I'm seeing people who've experienced childhood abuse, accompanied by deep emotional deprivation. Of course, that's immediately used by skeptics who make a connection between their trauma and the experiences they claim to have had. But in reality, those two things have nothing to do with each other.

Why?

I truly believe that people who've been abused in the past have already been in contact with a certain "otherness." Their past experiences have created an ontological shock. We might compare this to going outside after having been in a dark room. When you've experienced an intrusion like having been abused as a child, I think you might, unfortunately, be more prepared than others to experience this kind of terrifying contact.

And what are they like after their experience?

What's interesting to me is the very particular link that forms between the abductee and these beings. They can feel the next abductions coming in advance. I think it's an initiation of sorts. After such an experience, you feel an overhaul of the self. Your guidance center in life isn't your specific personality any longer, but rather this mystery within you, something that's bigger than yourself. So basically, the person emerges from an individualist vision and acquires a vaster conscience. It's an awakening of the heart.

"I don’t fear for my reputation; I want to understand and help people. Other psychologists are afraid to talk about this to their colleagues. I’m not bothered by anything about it because I approach it with clinical psychology tools."

I imagine it must not be very common to specialize in all of this.

There are people who live through extraordinary things, like having out-of-body experiences. That's just how it is. Same goes for these abductees. I don't fear for my reputation; I want to understand and help people. Other psychologists are afraid to talk about this sort of stuff to their colleagues. But nothing about this bothers me because I approach it scientifically. Sure, I run into plenty of reticence—but I also meet people with open minds. I'm only ever looking to have conversations. Those who don't want to hear about it simply haven't ever seen the evidence.

How about you? Have you ever had an experience with aliens?

I saw a UFO when I was young. But I completely put the memory aside. It came back to me three years ago. Also, my siblings practiced spiritism when we were young—I'd see glasses moving on the table. It was incredible, being in contact with an invisible phenomenon.

And is that where your interest in abductions came from?

I studied psychology in college in the most classical sense. But even then, I was already curious about everything relating to extraordinary experiences. When I read the testimonies of people who’d had near-death experiences, and realized just how much those experiences had changed their lives, I asked myself, 'What’s the point of doing therapy for decades if a single experience can change everything?' And after that, I never shut the door on people's experiences. I went to the INRES (Institute for Research on Extraordinary Experiences) where I met the writer Stéphane Alix [author of "Aliens: An Investigation"]. It was thanks to him that I got so deeply into abductions. I think you have to have gone through all these steps in order to understand what people say they have experienced.

And what do you do when you are certain that a patient hasn't been abducted?

It depends on the case. If we're looking at a pathological liar, he won't allow us to dispute his version of events. I saw a patient a while back who had already managed to indoctrinate UFOlogists—he was really feeding off of that, that feeling of being special. That's typical with pathological liars. On the other hand, some do accept that it wasn't an abduction after all. But on my end, I never tell them that they weren't abducted; I never tell someone they're a liar. It's a discussion, and my job is simply to point the person in the right direction.

Do you think that alien beings come to visit us?

It's my job to calm my patient's suffering when they've been through some thing that could potentially destroy them.

Stealth Planes, UFOs, and a Certain Secret Base

military-608070_1280-999x540.jpg

Stealth Planes, UFOs, and a Certain Secret Base

As a follow-on to my previous article, “Bob Lazar, Area 51, UFOs and Russians,” I thought I would expand on why it would be so important for U.S. authorities to keep a careful watch on any potential Russian penetrations of Area 51 in the 1970s and 1980s. And also to mislead the Russians as to what was going on at the legendary base. When it comes to the matter of Area 51 and the 1970s, there is one important issue that cannot be ignored. And it  should not be ignored. It was the early development of what has become known as “Stealth” technology for aircraft. It was in 1988 that both the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter and the Northrop Grumman B-2Spirit were unveiled for one and all to see. The completely black, triangular-shaped aircraft caught the world’s attention, primarily because of their strange, angular shapes. It’s intriguing to note that in 1982 a wave of encounters with what became known as “Flying Triangles” began over portions of New York State, specifically in Hudson Valley.

In their 1988 book, Night Siege, authors Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Philip J. Imbrogno and Bob Pratt wrote: “Can 7,000 eyewitnesses be wrong? They were there to witness the huge, hovering object in the sky, the flashing lights, the eerie silence. They are ordinary people from all walks of life: stay-at-home moms, kids, business people, engineers. They tell their stories here, and they all agree on one thing: they saw the same massive object cruising over their backyards. And it was like nothing they had seen before…”

At the time when the Hudson Valley encounters were at their peak, it was reasonably assumed by UFO researchers just about here, there and everywhere that aliens had arrived and were scoping out the area to a massive degree. When, however, the Stealth planes were unleashed in 1988 – planes that looked eerily like the Hudson Valley “UFOs,” more than a few of those same ufologists came to wonder if what was seen over Hudson Valley was actually a top secret variation on the Stealth Fighter and the Stealth Bomber. Regardless of whether or not the Hudson Valley UFOs originated in the United States, or on a world far, far away, one of the most intriguing revelations that surfaced when the Stealth planes were revealed was the startling fact that they had been secretly flying not just for a few years, but since the 1970s – at Area 51. And, the secret (the top secret) had been skillfully contained for more than a decade.

If there is one thing that just about any and all military agencies want, it’s for their aircraft to be completely invulnerable. Well, while that’s a tall order, steps were taken in the early 1970s to create an aircraft that could not be detected on radar. It would, then, be the ultimate predator: quietly and carefully approaching its completely oblivious target. That is, until it was all too late. Lockheed Martin, the company which was secretly contracted to come up with a stealth-driven fighter, state that a pair of engineers, Dick Sherrer and Denys Overholser, “developed a computer program based on obscure German and Russian theories, which postulated that radar beams could be reflected by a series of carefully angled triangular panels,” which is precisely why both the B-2 and the F-117 look so odd. But, cool, too.

The most important development came in 1976. That was the year in which a program designated “Have Blue” was established as, to quote Lockheed Martin, “the stealth demonstrator that would lead to the F-117A Nighthawk.” Built out of aluminum and not much else, the aircraft was typified by the angular shape and futuristic-look. Although the Nighthawkremained unknown to virtually everyone until 1988, it was first test-flown on June 8, 1981, just one year before the Hudson Valley “UFOs” were first seen. Notably, the Nighthawk – while in test stage – was flown exclusively at night. And, while it seems unlikely that the F-117A was the culprit at Hudson Valley, perhaps a far more advanced stealth plane was.

One of the most notable of all the missions that the Nighthawkstook part in revolved around the invasion of Iraq in January of 1991. The radar-systems of the Iraqi military were woefully inadequate and, as a consequence, they flattened close to forty targets in no time at all; something which helped to bring the conflict to a close in a little more than forty days. Today, the Nighthawk is no more. It has been mothballed. But, how many other stealth aircraft – of highly advanced forms and technologies – remain hidden from prying eyes is anyone’s guess. Now, let’s take a look at the Stealth Bomber: the Spirit.

The brainchild of Northrop Grumman, the B-2 stealth bomber is, to quote the team that brought it to fruition, “a key component of the nation’s long range strike arsenal, and one of the most survivable aircraft in the world. Its unique capabilities, including its stealth characteristics, allow it to penetrate the most sophisticated enemy defenses and hold at risk high value, heavily defended targets.” It has played major roles in numerous conflicts, including Operation Iraqi Freedom in Afghanistan, in Kosovo, and in Libya. Not only that, the Spirit is capable of flying for 6,000 miles without refueling and can soar through the skies for 10,000 miles when refueled just once. And, it is armed with nuclear weapons. The B-2, then, is a decidedly formidable craft. Twenty-one such aircraft were built and deployed, of which only one came to grief, while taking to the skies from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam in February 2008. Just like the Stealth Fighter, early versions and incarnations of the Spirit were secretly flow from Area 51.

It goes without saying that hiding (from the Russians) the existence of early Stealth planes out at Area 51 would have been paramount to those working on the highly-classified  projects. And, to the extent that they may even have used tales of UFOs to act as convenient covers for what was really afoot – all of which could have led to additional operations, such as the one involving Bob Lazar in the late eighties.

UFO Studies to be Taught at Duke University

Duke University in North Carolina is known for its excellent academic programs, high number of Rhodes Scholar graduates and outstanding basketball teams. All of that pales in comparison to the recent announcement that Duke will now offer a course in UFOs taught by a religious studies professor who is also a well-known UFO researcher. Is that enough to convince your parents not to cut off your tuition money when they find out you’ve changed majors to UFOlogy?

“It’s not the first time I’ve taught a course on UFOs. In the spring semester of 1996, when I was a professor in UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Religious Studies, I gave a seminar called “Special Topics in Mysticism: Heavenly Ascensions and UFO Abductions.” One of my colleagues indulgently labeled it “a funny course.” He didn’t understand. Whatever UFOs are, they aren’t funny.”

David J. Halperin, Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, offers this bit of his own history on his website as an introduction and an aid for students wondering of a course entitled “UFOs – Encounter, Mystery, Myth” is a good elective. Professor Halperin is no slouch in either of his fields. After receiving his Ph.D. from Berkeley he taught Judaic studies in UNC’s Department of Religious Studies and had a special interest in religious traditions of heavenly ascensions and otherworldly journeys, resulting in five books on Jewish mysticism and messianism. He’s also the author of a novel, “Journal of a UFO Investigator,” and has a non-fiction book, “Intimate Alien: The Hidden Story of the UFO,” coming out in 2020.

Halperin’s 1996 course covered the abduction story of Barney and Betty Hill, a class assignment to read and discuss Whitley Strieber’s Communion, and student research and presentations on, among other topics, the “X-Files” TV series, alien contact and different aspects of the UFOs’ impact on African-American culture. Halperin retired in 2000 and never taught the UFO course again … until now. Why resurrect it?

“UFOs are still with us, however, enjoying a surprising new respectability in the world that’s emerged from the 2016 Presidential election.”

He’s referring to when candidate Hillary Clinton said she would reopen the real X-files if she were elected president. Halperin’s new course will update his old one, then cover the alleged 1966 UFO landing at Westall High School in Melbourne, Australia; the “Men in Black”; the experience of alien abduction’ and a look at what happened in 1947 near Roswell, New Mexico. He’ll finish with more on what has happened since the 2016 election and conclude by discussing the same question about UFOs he attempted to answer in 1996: “What do they mean?”

What DOES it mean? It means one of the top universities in the country is offering a course in UFO studies, thus providing a little more legitimacy to a subject begging for it. “UFOs – Encounter, Mystery, Myth” will be offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Duke from January 7 to March 25, 2019. You can learn more and sign up here.

Massive Unexplored ‘Sarlacc Pit’ Found in Canadian Wilderness

Massive Unexplored ‘Sarlacc Pit’ Found in Canadian Wilderness

Geoscientists exploring the remote Canadian wilderness have discovered a massive cave in British Columbia’s Wells Gray Provincial Park which may have never been explored by humans. In a nod to The Return of the Jedi, the cave has been nicknamed the “Sarlacc Pit” due to its gaping hole-like appearance – although us real fans know that the actual name was the “Pit of Carkoon” and that the Sarlacc was the ancient carnivorous beast inside the pit, not the name of the pit itself. Filthy casuals.

Frankenstein's monster

Kinda like calling this guy “Frankenstein.”

The cave in British Columbia was spotted by helicopter crews conducting a caribou count. It’s believed that the entrance has been covered in snow up until the last few decades, hence why it hasn’t yet been documented by either indigenous First Nations peoples or the Canadian Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. While we’d all like it to be named after the Sarlacc, consultations are underway with First Nations representatives to determine if they would like to name it.

The cave has not yet been given an official name or explored, and researchers aren’t exactly sure how it avoided detection for all of these years. “My immediate reaction was that there can’t be a cave there, it’s impossible,” said scientist Catherine Hickson. “It is huge. It is enormous. When you first see it, you just gasp because it’s just this huge hole in the ground.” The entrance measures 100 meters by 60 meters – the same size as a football field – and opens onto a shaft extending 100 meters underground. Check out Canadian Geographic‘s coverage for some breathtaking photos of the massive, unexplored cave.

Just what exactly may lie at the bottom of this cave remains unknown, as are its exact dimensions; once the cave is explored, it very well could become Canada’s largest cave. For now, scientists are keeping the location of the cave a secret until more research can be done and in order to protect it from intrepid spelunkers seeking to find a new definition of pain and suffering as they are slowly digested over a thousand years.

Scientists Detect Black Hole Collision in Deep Space

Scientists Detect Black Hole Collision in Deep Space

Scientists from the LIGO and Virgo scientific collaborations have released data regarding a black hole collision detected further than five billion light years from Earth, which resulted in both a larger black hole and ripples through space-time. Laser detectors in the United States and Italy detected the collision on July 29, 2017, but data has finally been checked and confirmed by the various institutions involved since that initial collection through a recent re-analysis of all the collected data by LIGO and Virgo from 2015, 2016 and 2017.

What are gravitational waves (an explanation for dummies)

The collision took place between a black hole more than 50 times the mhttps://cdn.zmescience.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/tumblr_inline_o2fi9hdAQ21srob4n_500.gifass of the Earth’s sun and another at least 34 times the mass of the sun. This collision created a new black hole more than 80 times the mass of the sun. After that reanalysis, this event is now the 11th event recorded resulting in the release of gravitational waves. Most of the other 10 were also collisions between black holes, but one was a collision of neutron stars.

But what are gravitational waves? They were predicted by Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, but instrumentation available to properly measure them was decades away from construction when he first considered them. They are best described as ripples or waves in the very fabric of space-time created by massive astronomical chaos events – such as black holes colliding.

They are measured due to the fact the waves move at the speed of light due to accelerating masses. The LIGO and Virgo sites fire lasers into long tunnels shaped like the letter L. These waves traveling through space-time reach the lasers and disrupt the light. Such measurements can help scientists better understand the dramatic nature of neutron stars, which release strange radiation when they are destroyed. Some of that radiation produces rare elements like gold.

When the laser labs in the United States began their research in September 2015, they almost instantly discovered a black hole merger on September 14 of that same year. That discovery earned the team a Nobel Prize. Before the celebration of that initial discovery could be had, however, the team became bombarded with similar signals alerting them to more collisions and more gravitational waves through space-time.

As of this moment, though, the labs are not detecting anything. During data reanalysis, the labs are undergoing upgrades. They should be back running by spring of 2019. According to a report by the BBC, the labs will be able to see twice the distance, which could result in as much as eight times the rate of previous detection – meaning gravitational wave detection could become a daily occurrence.

Date of sighting: December 2018
Location of sighting: Kalgoorlie, Australia

At 3.03 into the 5 minute video if you put it into slow motion .25 in settings, you will notice the UFO rise up from the ground. It had landed in someones yard and was causing the lightning storm as UFOs often do. However the lightning strike unexpectedly hit near the UFO causing a static charge around it for a few minutes. The UFO rising can only be seen in slow motion, I almost didn't catch it in normal speed, but was lucky to see it. I made a gif, which is a moving image below for you to better see it rise from the ground. Clearly the UFOs technology was causing the storm by accident or causing it on purpose to make people go into their home so they will not see the UFO land or taking off. Did you notice the four landing legs were down? Still visible in most screenshots of the event.

Now either it was taking off from the ground, or...it was shooting though a temporary tunnel in the ground that came from an underground alien base 4-6km below the surface. The way this UFO shot up and stopped suddenly...makes me think it was traveling fast through an opening and in a hurry, because would you want to get caught that deep below the ground when the tunnel closes up again? Yeah...me neither, so hauling butt thought just makes sense.

Scientists have no name for any natural event that causes such a phenomenon to happen. What we are seeing is a triangle UFO rising up from the ground with a static charge around it due to the lightning strikes. Notice its incredible speed when rising...its enough to fool a person into thinking it came down from the sky, when it really rose up from the ground leaving. They are not gods, they are not angels or demons, they are just flesh and blood intelligent creatures that make mistakes and get seen a lot more than most people would think.

NASA Shows The Wreck of a ‘Flying Saucer’, But The Real Story Is Even More Amazing

NASA Shows The Wreck of a ‘Flying Saucer’, But The Real Story Is Even More Amazing

Any species reaching for the stars is bound to have its fingertips singed. Probably more than once.

One of NASA’s latest posts on the Astronomy Picture of the Day website is an iconic reminder of the mishaps in our spacefaring history.

“A flying saucer from outer space crash-landed in the Utah desert after being tracked by radar and chased by helicopters,” states the photo description, although NASA is not hinting at an alien visit here.

The banged-up dish, half-buried in the desert sand, was actually the return capsule of the Genesis spacecraft. And it wasn’t supposed to touch down in such a brutal way.

Launched on 8 August 2001, the Genesis mission was the space agency’s ambitious effort to send a spacecraft into our home star’s solar wind, gather samples, and return them to Earth.

By gathering data on the composition of the charged particles streaming from the Sun’s corona, researchers hoped to precisely determine the composition of the star, and learn more about the elements that were around when the Solar System’s planets were formed.

To bring us solar wind samples, the Genesis craft was equipped with a sample return capsule holding a canister of solar wind materials, gathered when the craft spent two years orbiting Lagrange point 1 – one of the spots in space where the gravity from Earth and Sun are precisely balanced.

2708.jpg

The craft captured the solar wind by folding out a series of collector arrays, each loaded with high-purity materials such as aluminium, sapphire, silicon, and even gold.

“The materials we used in the Genesis collector arrays had to be physically strong enough to be launched without breaking; retain the sample while being heated by the Sun during collection; and be pure enough that we could analyse the solar wind elements after Earth-return,” project scientist Amy Jurewicz explained on 3 September 2004.

2709.jpg

Five days later, that sample capsule and its precious arrays smashed into the ground in Utah, at an estimated speed of 310 km/h (193 mph).

What was supposed to happen was rather different – 127 seconds after re-entering the atmosphere, a mortar aboard the capsule would blow, releasing a preliminary parachute for slowing and stabilising the descent.

Then, a main parachute was to inflate, providing the capsule with a gentle descent into the Utah Test and Training Range.

In the crash photo, you can see helicopters – they were hovering nearby, ready to snag the capsule mid-air and ferry it directly to a cleanroom to avoid contamination of the samples.

Neither of those parachutes deployed.

After a thorough investigation, the error was traced back to a set of sensors, barely the size of the metallic end of a pencil. They had been installed backwards.

These tiny devices were supposed to detect the increasing g-forces as the capsule plummeted towards the ground, and trigger the deployment of the parachutes.

As you can imagine, the crash led to severe damage, breaking several of the arrays and contaminating the precious cargo within.

Once the sample capsule was retrieved from the heart-sinking site of its demise, the project team set about to retrieve anything that could still be recovered and studied.

2710.jpg

Thankfully, the Genesis mission wasn’t completely ruined, even after such a dramatic arrival of the sample capsule. Some of the sturdy collector materials survived, and researchers managed to clean the surfaces without disturbing the solar material embedded within.

Within three years, a series of papers were published on the Genesis findings. Thanks to the daring mission, we learned unprecedented details about the composition of the Sun and the elemental differences between our star and the inner planets of the Solar System.

“The Sun houses more than 99 percent of the material currently in our Solar System, so it’s a good idea to get to know it better,” Genesis principal investigator Don Burnett from California Institute of Technology said in 2011.

“While it was more challenging than expected, we have answered some important questions, and like all successful missions, generated plenty more.”

Oumuamua Is Not Alone: Four More Interstellar Visitors Spotted In Our Solar System

Researchers Discover More Celestial Visitors to Our Solar System.

Astronomers from Harvard have determined that several celestial objects they have been tracking could have possibly come from beyond this solar system. The four asteroid-like masses are located between Jupiter, and the Sun, which the astronomers have determined is a section of the solar system that potentially catches and traps objects due to its gravitational pull.

Harvard Professor Abraham Loeb and his student Amir Siraj, wrote a paper together detailing this theory and speculating that there could be dozens or hundreds of space objects from outside this system trapped in this section. The paper points to four, in particular, named 2011 SP25, 2017 RR2, 2017 SV13, and 2018 TL6. These objects do come within a noteworthy distance of Earth and have been put forth as candidates for future NASA missions, without which it will be at least 20 years before one of them comes close enough to Earth. The four objects are not as yet classified as asteroids or comet, another detail a mission would solve.

This discovery comes in the wake of the first known interstellar traveler spotted last year spinning through our solar system. Oumuamua has been classified as an asteroid but it's confusing characteristics, some being more in line with a comet, mean that the jury is still out on this. Oumuamua, which is Hawaiian for “scout”, was detected by the University of Hawaii in October 2017 and its odd properties including the reddish color, ultra reflectiveness, and cigar-shape have led some to speculate that it may be artificial. The idea that the four interstellar visitors in Siraj and Loeb’s paper could also be artificial was addressed by Siraj who claimed that there is no current evidence to back this. Referring to Oumuamua, Professor Loeb states that some of the data collected so far on the object could lend support to the idea that it may have been deliberately formed.

Cave Art Could Prove Ancient Humans Studied Astronomy

Cave Art Could Prove Ancient Humans Studied Astronomy

While a picture painted on the wall of a cave appears to show a hunter collapsing in front of a disemboweled beast over 15,000 years ago, it may also indicate a more astronomical meaning. The ancient cave art, which was found at Lascaux (near Montignac) in France, were positioned in such a way that they may have been signs of the zodiac and was telling the story of a cataclysmic event.

A group of teenagers discovered the cave paintings in the 1940s and experts have been trying to understand the meaning of the art ever since. While it’s unclear exactly when the 600 images were created, it is believed that they are up to 17,000 years old.

Cave art found at Lascaux

The paintings found at Lascaux were being compared to zoomorphic artworks that were discovered at Neolithic sites from Göbekli Tepe and Çatalhöyük in Turkey. The research was conducted by experts from the Universities of Edinburgh and Kent. They indicated that instead of lions, bulls, and scorpions portraying animals that are seen on Earth, they could have been drawn to represent constellations in the sky.

Chemical engineer Martin Sweatman, who was one of the study’s authors, claimed “Early cave art shows that people had advanced knowledge of the night sky within the last Ice Age.” If this is indeed factual, that would mean that the cave art found at Lascaux was created to record a significant event that occurred during the annual Taurid meteor shower approximately 17,000 years ago.

At first glance, it looks as though the painting was of a man collapsing in front of a disemboweled animal while a bird watches and a rhinoceros looking away. There was also a horse head that was drawn on another part of the wall. And there were geometric shapes, odd lines, and dots drawn throughout the pictures. But after further analysis, they could very well have indicated constellations in the sky.

main article image

The disemboweled bison-like animal, called an auroch, could represent the Capricorn constellation during the summer equinox, while the bird could indicate Libra during the spring equinox. While it’s unclear what the other animals are symbolizing, they could be representing Leo and Taurus during other equinoxes. These paintings could indicate that around 15,150 BCE, a cataclysmic event could have affected humans. In fact, the climate started to shift at around 15,300 BCE according to records that were taken from Greenland’s ice cores.

Last year, the stone carvings that were discovered at Göbekli Tepe were examined and it is believed that they were indicating a comet that struck Earth that was more than likely responsible for a brief return to the Ice Age climate approximately 13,000 years ago.

Another example of potential art work hinting at an astronomical event is a 40,000-year-old carving of an upright lion that was discovered in the Hohlenstein cave located in Germany. Sweatman explained, “These findings support a theory of multiple comet impacts over the course of human development, and will probably revolutionize how prehistoric populations are seen.”

Through her regressions, Sherry came to understanding that she came to Earth at this time be a volunteer, to be of assistance, and to transmute negative energy.

Lights in the sky solved

Lights in the sky solved

Rob Gibson

UPDATE 10:30 a.m.

The case of mysterious lights in the sky above Kelowna has been solved.

Carol McGowan, Kelowna Golf and Country Club
Food and Beverage Manager called Castanet this morning after they saw our story.

"There was a Coldwell Banker Christmas party at Kelowna Golf and Country club Friday night with a "Great Gatsby" theme and we had the lights going all night," says McGowan.

Nico Boesten, the manager with New Horizon Productions in Kelowna was responsible for setting up the lights. "We call them the Batman or Hollywood lights. We just got them and we've been using them a lot at different galas and rock concerts and the like."

Boesten tells Castanet, "I love that somebody called in, this is crazy!"

ORIGINAL 6:58 a.m.

A faithful Castanet reader has sent us a video of what he describes as strange lights in the sky above Kelowna.

Brett Wade says he saw the lights on Friday night when he stepped outside while at work.

"First of all, I'm not really one of those UFO guys, I don't wear aluminum hats or anything," Wade says.

Wade says he walked out of work and looked up to see what he describes a formation of two lights spiraling around each other in a consistent pattern. "I thought at first it must be spotlights because I've seen that before but I couldn't see a lights source below so I ruled that out."

The first thing he did after recording the strange sight was to check Castanet to see if there were any other reports of the strange phenomenon. "I didn't see anything, the next day still nothing, so I thought I'd send this video to you guys to see if there is an explanation."

Wade says he and his co-worker watched the lights for a total of ten minutes before moving on and that the lights seemed to be drifting in a northwest direction.

"We were both wanting to write this off as nothing," Wade says and at this point, it remains an Okanagan mystery.

Major earthquake WARNING: ‘Totally DESTRUCTIVE’ tremor predicted by December 10

Major earthquake WARNING: ‘Totally DESTRUCTIVE’ tremor predicted by December 10

A MEGA earthquake which has the potential to “totally DESTROY” an area is predicted between December 7 and 10, according to one earthquake forecaster.

A planetary alignment this week will see seismic unrest around the globe and potentially exacerbating an extremely powerful earthquake. The Earth, moon, Venus and Uranus will align in pour solar system in the coming days which could cause worldwide destruction. The gravitational pull of the celestial bodies either side of our planet could pull on Earth’s tectonic plates, according to the prediction.

As the plates are tugged apart, they could cause earthquakes around the globe.

This is according to ‘New-age earthquake forecasting’ website Ditrianum, run by researcher Frank Hoogerbeets, who said an earthquake as strong as a magnitude eight could hit.

Writing on his website, Mr Hoogerbeets said: “Seismic unrest is expected in the coming days, possibly peaking high 6 to 7 magnitude.

“Throughout the week doesn't look much better. Especially from the 7th to the 10th may be highly critical with the potential of a magnitude 8+ earthquake.”

A magnitude eight quake would be truly catastrophic.

It is categorised as a “great earthquake” and according to Michigan Tech, it “can totally destroy communities near the epicentre.”

Mr Hoogerbeets made the prediction using his Solar System Geometry Index (SSGI) which “is the computation of a dataset for a specific time-frame of values given to specific geometric positions of the planets, the Moon and the Sun”.

He added: “After three years of observations, it became clear that some planetary geometry in the Solar System clearly tends to cause a seismic increase, while other geometry does not.”

Mr Hoogerbeets believes earthquakes are caused by the alignment of planets
 (Image: GETTY)

But experts have dismissed Mr Hoogerbeets’ claims, saying that there is no way earthquakes can be predicted.

John Bellini, a geophysicist at the US Geological Survey (USGS) has said: “We can't predict or forecast earthquakes.

"Sometimes before a large earthquake you'll have a foreshock or two, but we don't know they're foreshocks until the big one happens.”

Humans have yet to find any definitive proof of the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life but one NASA scientist believes we may be getting in our own way and might have already ignored alien visits to our planet.

"I simply want to point out the fact that the intelligence we might find and that might choose to find us (if it hasn’t already) might not be at all be produced by carbon-based organisms like us," Silvano P. Colombano, a computer scientist at NASA Ames Research Center, wrote in the research paper published December 4.

The scientist theorizes that our whole approach to searching for extraterrestrial intelligent life may actually be holding us back from discovering it, adding that we must "revisit even our most cherished assumptions."

NASA’s Osiris-Rex arrives at potentially Earth-bound asteroid Bennu — RT World News

NASA’s Osiris-Rex robotic probe has completed its two-year, two-billion-kilometer journey to the skyscraper-sized Bennu asteroid in what could prove to be one of the agency’s most important missions...

rt.com

Instead of limiting ourselves to current presuppositions based on what we think we know about the universe, Colombano instead proposes a more free-form, blue sky thinking approach as, 'life' may not always conform to our current model, it may already have visited us in forms beyond our comprehension, attempting to communicate with us using technology beyond the realm of our current scientific understanding.

Colombano encourages the scientific community to broaden its horizons when looking for aliens, postulating that the current human lifespan may no longer be a problem in the near future as technological advancements continue to dramatically improve both the quality and length of our lives, affording us a different perception of interstellar travel in the process.

He accepts that the speed of light and interstellar travel may prove to be “an unbreakable barrier, over spans of thousands of years,” but that we shouldn’t operate under an automatically constrained set of possibilities.

He argues that technology as we know it only began development approximately 10,000 years ago, with many of the fundamental scientific methodologies upon which our current understanding of the universe is based coming to light in the past 500 years or so.

“We can surmise that we might have a real problem in predicting technological evolution even for the next thousand years, let alone 6 Million times that amount!” he explains. With this in mind, he advocates for a more “speculative approach” to physics.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Colombano holds a PhD in Biophysics, and is a specialist in Artificial Intelligence, Bio-Inspired computation and Robotics. He is apparently known for “brainstorming ideas and writing both technical and philosophical material” especially within the realm of "Self-sustaining Robotic Systems.”

The expert concludes the paper by calling on technologists to explore “Evolvable Robotic Systems” while also beseeching the scientific community to look deeper into existing reports of UFOs and extraterrestrial phenomena including, but not limited to, a close examination of “130,000 pages of declassified US Air Force documents, National UFO Reporting Center Database and several other international databases.”

Retired Astronaut: NASA Left Earth Defenseless Against Asteroids

STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT

Retired Astronaut: NASA Left Earth Defenseless Against Asteroids

Unfortunately, funding the Near-Earth Object Camera is low on the agency's list of priorities.

Flying Blind

Earth is defenseless against asteroids that could cause utter annihilation, says former NASA astronaut Russell “Rusty” Schweickart.

No, he didn’t spot any hostile extraterrestrials during his time in space. Schweickart told Business Insider at last month that he’s concerned about Earth’s inability to spot and monitor potentially-disastrous asteroid impacts.

All it would take to fix that, Schweickart went on to explain, is if NASA would allocate the $40 million needed to launch an orbital observatory called the Near-Earth Object Camera(NEOCam), which was specifically built to detect asteroids but has been sitting idly since it was constructed in 2006. NEOCam would assist current land-based observatories by getting a clearer view of the sky as it orbits the planet.

“It’s a critical discovery telescope to protect life on Earth, and it’s ready to go,” Schweickart told Business Insider.

Unexciting Bureaucracy

The problem, as Schweickart sees it, is NASA’s preference to fund exciting projects and missions that will make equally-exciting scientific discoveries. Because NEOCam is unlikely to help scientists learn anything new about the cosmos — unless you consider an asteroid hurtling toward the earth to be new and exciting — it’s been pushed to the side year after year.

NASA gave $35 million to NEOCam in its 2018 budget, which is enough to keep the program running but not enough to get it into space, where it could actually make a difference.

Call Bruce Willis

Of course, should it someday reach orbit, NEOCam will only help scientists better detect incoming asteroids — not divert them.

That’s good news that would help people better plan for it on the ground, but because the technology behind NASA’s Asteroid Redirect Mission is still under development, actually stopping an asteroid on a collision course with Earth is still action hero territory.

Nasa probe reaches Bennu – asteroid that could one day hit Earth

Osiris-Rex spacecraft will eventually scoop up material for analysis back home

After a two-year chase, a Nasa probe has reached the ancient asteroid Bennu. The robotic explorer Osiris-Rex pulled within 12 miles (19km) of the diamond-shaped object on Monday and will go into orbit around it on 31 December. No spacecraft has ever orbited such a small body.

Bennu is considered a potentially hazardous asteroid – it is due to make a close pass of Earth about 150 years. If it collided with Earth, Bennu would probably cause a crater.

Osiris-Rex aims to collect at least 60 grams (two ounces) of dust and gravel, the first such attempt by the US after a smaller mission to another asteroid by Japan. The spacecraft won’t land but use a three-metre mechanical arm in 2020 to momentarily touch down and pick up particles. The sample container is planned to break loose and head toward Earth in 2021.

The collection – parachuting down to Utah – would represent the biggest such haul since the Apollo astronauts hand-delivered moon rocks to Earth in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Scientists hope to learn more about the source of water in the solar system and the origins of organic molecules from which life first arose. Getting their hands on pristine asteroid material might also yield clues about how to mine them for valuable materials and defend against wayward ones that might threaten Earth.

Flight controllers applauded and exchanged high-fives on Monday once confirmation came through that Osiris-Rex made it to Bennu – exactly one week after Nasa landed a spacecraft on Mars.

“Relieved, proud, and anxious to start exploring!” tweeted lead scientist Dante Lauretta of the University of Arizona. “To Bennu and back!”

Bennu is 76m miles (122m km) away so it took seven minutes for word of the success to reach flight controllers at Lockheed Martin in Littleton, Colorado, where the spacecraft was built.

Bennu is estimated to be just over 1,600ft (500 metres) across. Researchers will provide a more precise description at a scientific meeting on Monday next week in Washington.

About the size of a large car, the spacecraft will shadow the asteroid for a year, before scooping up some gravel for return to Earth in 2023.

A Japanese spacecraft, meanwhile, has been hanging out at another near-Earth asteroid since June, also for samples. It is Japan’s second asteroid mission. This latest rock is named Ryugu and is about double the size of Bennu.

Ryugu’s specks should be here by December 2020 but will be far less than Osiris-Rex’s promised booty.

Engineer Tim Linn explains how the Osiris-Rex will suck up asteroid dust.

Nasa has brought back comet dust and solar wind particles before but never asteroid samples. Japan managed to return some tiny particles in 2010 from its first asteroid mission, named Hayabusa.

Contact with Bennu will not significantly change its orbit or make it more dangerous to Earth, Lauretta stressed.

The $800m Osiris-Rex mission began with a 2016 launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Its odometer read 1.2bn miles (2bn km) as of Monday.

Both the spacecraft and asteroid’s names come from Egyptian mythology. Osiris is the god of the afterlife, while Bennu represents the heron and creation.

Osiris-Rex is actually a Nasa acronym for origins, spectral interpretation, resource identification, security-regolith explorer.

NASA White Paper calls for investigation of UFO sightings

NASA White Paper calls for investigation of UFO sightings

NASA White Paper calls for investigation of UFO sightings

Moffet Field (USA) - In a so-called white paper, a scientist from NASA's Ames Research Center proposes new "radical approaches" to Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

In addition to turning away from previous dogmas about the ideas of extraterrestrial life and intelligence, the NASA scientist also proposes to re-evaluate and examine UFO sightings through the perspective of interpreting extraterrestrial visits to Earth.

In his paper entitled "New Assumptions to Guide SETI Research", which was officially published on the NASA Technical Reports Server, author Silvano P. Colombano of NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffet Field explains some of the most fundamental assumptions of previous SETI research, before making final suggestions for a new, more "aggressive" approach.

1. physicists should become much more involved in "speculative physics", which is still based on proven and solid theories, but still has the will to expand the possibilities of the nature of space, time and energy.

2 (Scientists) and technicians should ask themselves questions about how technologies - such as artificial intelligence and evolvable robot systems - could develop in a symbiosis of biology and machines.

3. sociologists should be concerned with speculations about which societies we expect to develop on the basis of the above and whether and how we could communicate with them.

4. The UFO phenomenon should at least be considered worth exploring in the sense of the described "search for a very weak signal in noise" and in view of potential new possibilities and ways of communication and discovery.

Colombano recommends to rethink and challenge four assumptions that have dominated SETI's strategy over the past decades.

The fourth point directly addresses the UFO phenomenon:

1. Interstellar travel is impossible or highly unlikely
2. Radio waves continue to be the major form of communication (...)
3. Intelligent civilizations would be based on carbon life
4. We have not been, and are not being... visited

There’s a new AI assistant on the International Space Station, and god is it annoying

There’s a new AI assistant on the International Space Station, and god is it annoying

 BY TIBI PUIU

Credit: Airbus.

Credit: Airbus.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have a new companion: an artificial intelligence-enabled, basketball-shaped robot called CIMON. The small bot is supposed to help astronauts with their daily tasks, such as setting up experiments and maintaining the station operational. But it’s also meant to keep them company.

However, during CIMON’s first encounter with Alexander Gerst, a German European Space Agency astronaut and geophysicist, the robot got a bit too confrontational. It was all actually quite funny, although I can’t help but notice that the robot shows the kind of defiance you’d expect from HAL 9000 — which is pretty creepy if you ask me!

CIMON, short for Crew Interactive Mobile Companion, is a sort of Amazon Alexa for space. Instead of asking it for the weather or to buy you Lackers tickets, CIMON can interject all sort of random space facts, such as Mercury’s orbit, or the required procedure for an experiment on the ISS.

At first, the queries and instructions performed by Gerst go well enough. The astronaut is even impressed when CIMON plays Gerst’s favorite song on demand, “The Man-Machine” by Kraftwerk. “Yay, I like your favorite hits, too,” CIMON monotonously shouted as Gerst pulled out some dad-level dance moves. But things got dicey thereafter.

“Please stop playing music,” Gerst instructed, a command which CIMON obeyed. However, when asked to open a video stream, CIMON interjects: “Cool — let’s sing along those favorite hits.”

“He’s still in music mode,” Gerst retorted very amusedly. But he wouldn’t be amused for long.

“Cancel music,” Gerst commands, to which CIMON says: “I love music you can dance to.”

“CANCEL MUSIC!” Gerst commands once more. “What ELSE can I DO for you?!” CIMON immediately said, not even allowing the astronaut to finish his sentence.

Later CIMON called Gerst “mean” and tells him to “be nice please”.

“I am nice! He’s accusing me of not being nice! He just doesn’t know me when I’m not nice,” a very annoyed Gerst told mission control.

“Cool,” CIMON said kinda broodingly. “Don’t you like it here with me?”

Well, that was interesting! CIMON was developed by IBM in conjunction with Airbus. According to IBM, “CIMON also boasts the language skills of C-3PO, the conversation abilities of Marvin (from the Hitchhiker’s Guide series), the cuteness of Wall-E, and the technical know-how of HAL 9000, from 2001: A Space Odyssey — just, you know, without the evil part.” CIMON doesn’t seem evil, but astronauts wouldn’t trust him with opening the pod bay doors, that’s for sure!

Multiple Reports of White Cigar Shaped UFOs Over Texas

Multiple Reports of White Cigar Shaped UFOs Over Texas

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Sigmund Freud said that, but he left out a key corollary statement: sometimes that cigar is a UFO. The “cigar shaped” UFO is one of the most iconic and widely reported varieties of unidentified aerial phenomena. It’s been a staple of UFO lore since the beginning. While Freud would probably have some less than polite theories explaining why people keep seeing giant cigars in the sky, in reality it’s not the best description for these UFOs. They’re oblong and uniformly colored, but that’s about it. A cigar shaped UFO  should, at the very least, have a fiery engine or exhaust port on the back. But no, they’re just long ovals.

A recent sighting of a cigar shaped UFO in Texas demonstrates this. According to the Houston Chronicle, a witness, who chose to remain anonymous, took a video of a space stogie in the skies above Keller, Texas, near Fort Worth, on November 15. The video shows a solid white, oblong object against what looks like the evening sky. It doesn’t move at all, and although the video is only a minute long, the witness wrote in a report to the website Texas UFOs that the incident lasted for much longer:

“It was the oddest thing I’ve ever seen. I watched it for about 20 minutes. It didn’t move. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything in the sky stay that still before, not even for a few seconds, let alone 20 minutes.”

Rocket ship

This looks way more like a cigar.

The witness says that the object looked reflective. Some have suggested that it could be a blimp, but Texas UFOs says that they could not find any evidence of a blimp in the area. Could it just be a weird cloud reflecting sunlight? Perhaps, but then why wouldn’t the reflected light match the color of the sunset? There’s probably a very good answer for that.

Yet, this isn’t an isolated incident. On their website, Texas UFOshas two more recent reports from all over the state witnessing the same thing. One report is a photograph of two white cigar shaped UFOs in Conroe, Texas taken on September 11. This photo was also taken at sunset and seems to lend credence to the idea that it’s some sort of weather/optical phenomenon.

Flying saucer UFO

Another report tells a different story. A report submitted to the National UFO Reporting Center alleges a sighting in the middle of the day in Copperas Cove, Texas. This report states that on November 15 at 2:55 pm, they saw a white oval shaped object hover motionless in the sky for 30 seconds before disappearing. This occurred on the same day as the Keller sighting. As with all UFO stories, however, there’s a catch: There is no photographic evidence given for the Copperas Cove sighting. Obviously you’re not always able to take photos when you see weird stuff in the sky, but without photographic evidence it can’t be used as proof.

Inconclusive. Just the way UFOs seem to like it.

U.S. Military Detects Unknown Russian Satellite in Orbit

U.S. Military Detects Unknown Russian Satellite in Orbit

As Cold War 2: Satellite Boogaloo continues to heat up above our heads, the world’s superpowers are busy lining up all of their orbital chess pieces for what will surely be a very interesting conflict in space. The next global wars will be waged in orbit between “killer” satellites capable of taking out enemies’ first-warning, communications, and reconnaissance capabilities or even bombarding the Earth with terrifying new orbital weaponry. If you aren’t convinced that there isn’t already an ongoing war being waged in space, you haven’t been paying attention.

Satellite warfare

What blows up must come down.

To add to the conflict brewing in the not-so-friendly skies, it seems Russia has just tried to secretly put a satellite in orbit during a routine launch of communications satellites. Defense analysts and U.S. military intelligence aren’t exactly sure what the satellite may be, and some are worried that this could be some unknown form of space weapon. This looks like a job for…SPACE FORCE!

The U.S. Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC) tracked three classified communications satellites launched by the Russian military in a single rocket on November 30. After the satellites discharged from the rocket, however, CSpOC began tracking another mysterious object which went into orbit shortly after the three known satellites. It’s currently believed the object is likely an “inspector satellite,” a small craft designed to maneuver close to other satellites and ostensibly repair them.

How many secret “Black Knight” satellites might be currently in orbit?

However, as many military analysts have noted, these inspector satellites could be used to spy on or sabotage other satellites. Back in August, the Russians launched another mysterious payload: a “nesting doll” satellite which appeared to ‘birth’ two smaller satellites. These smaller satellites are difficult to track and could easily be mistaken for orbital debris yet offer strategic capabilities far beyond what their diminutive size may imply. When the satellites start blowing each other up, losing your satellite TV for a few months will be the least of your worries.

Maybe that Space Force isn’t such a bad idea after all…

The Mysterious Atlantis of the Sands

iramofthepillars-999x540.jpg

The Mysterious Atlantis of the Sands

The shifting sands of the deserts of the Arabia have long been steeped in myth, magic and, legend, and one of these are the tales of an ancient lost city variously called Ubar, Wabar and Iram of the Pillars, among others, said to be buried out there in the dunes forgotten and abandoned for thousands of years. Often spoken of by the Bedouin nomads of this vast land of heat and sand and even mentioned in the Quran and the classic book A Thousand and One Arabian Nights, the fabled city is said to lie somewhere out in the Rub’ al Khali desert, which spans much of the southern end of the peninsula, and was inhabited by a mysterious people called the Ad, ruled by a King Shaddad ibn ‘Ad. Said to have been established in around 3,000 BC, it was a place of grand beauty, with lofty buildings and sweeping, majestic pillars, towers and spires soaring up towards the sky, elegant and rich and beyond imagination from its position as a legendary trading post of spices and oils. It was supposedly a celebrated stop off point for traders, the land here once lush and green, in a region once called Arabia Felix, or “Fortunate Arabia,” its beauty well-known by all who passed, and the city’s legend grew as it was mentioned in fable and song.

And then the city suddenly disappeared from history, its people and magnificence fading into the mists of time sometime between around  100-300AD. The legend of the lost city of Ubar says that this vanishing was due to punishment brought down from God upon its people after they failed to follow the ways of Allah and refused the advice of the prophet Hud, their city buried by a massive, thunderous sandstorm that swept in out of nowhere to erase them from existence forever. Although it is of course unknown if this is all literally true or not, the disappearance of the mythical lost city of Ubar has over the ages been speculated to have at least been based on a real place, and its mystery is such that of course with such an alluring mythology adventurers have long sought it out in the unforgiving landscape of the Arabian desert, some claiming some success and others rumored to have never returned at all.

The Rub’ al Khali desert

One of the earlier attempts by outsiders to locate the legendary city of Ubar was made in 1930 by the explorer Bertram Thomas, who was at the time in the midst of a harrowing journey across the desolate Rub’ al Khali in a bid to become the first European to cross this sea of sun scorched sand, so inhospitable, lifeless and barren that it is locally called “The Empty Quarter.” During his perilous journey through this domain of endless sand and dunes Bertram was told by his Bedouin guides of a lost city lying out under the sand that had once been full of wealth and unrivaled beauty, but which had been ruthlessly buried by a vengeful Allah because of their sins. Bertram looked for the city they spoke of, thinking it to be in the vicinity of an area called the Ramlat Shu’ait, but found no trace of it at the time, and he would later mention it to T. E. Lawrence, also known as Lawrence of Arabia, who called it “The Atlantis of the Sands.” Lawrence then made plans to search for it himself, even mentioning he might do it by airship, but he would die before ever being able to carry out his ambitious plan. In the meantime, Bertram became rather obsessed with the lost city of Ubar, making several forays out to look for it and even writing a book on it, called Arabia Felix. He would eventually find some traces of ruins in the sand and what seemed to be tracks used by caravans to get there, but it was inconclusive and he would die without ever seeing the fabled city that had consumed so much of his life.

The 1940s saw several promising finds by various explorers when English explorer Wilfred Thesiger found what he believed to be the remnants of Ubar at place called Shisr, which holds the crumbling ruins of a Bedouin well and what seems to be an ancient pre-Islamic stone fort. Then, in 1948 there was a geological party from Petroleum Development Ltd, who were conducting a geological survey of the Dhofar province when they too came to Shisr and claimed to have found a massive wall of an ancient fort, as well as a cave entrance beneath it leading down into the darkness of the earth. At the time the survey team was more interested in finding water for their camels and getting on with their harrowing work than investigating mysterious ruins, and so they did not look into it further, simply making note of it. There was also an expedition carried out by a St. John Philby, who did not find the city, but did claim to have made the unlikely discovery of a buried volcano lying dormant out there in the desert.

There have been various other expeditions in the years since to locate this mysterious Atlantis of the Sands, most of them either failing to find anything at all or merely bringing back intriguing but ultimately frustrating tales of finding enigmatic ruins in the sand, poking up like the bones of some prehistoric beast. One of the problems has always been that the area is so vast and remote, covering most of Saudi Arabia, as well as areas of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, all compounded by the fact that no one is really sure where Ubar is supposed to be, with numerous possible locations suggested over the centuries covering various far flung locales. Nevertheless, there are occasional sensational announcements that the lost Atlantis of the Sands has been found, and one of the more noteworthy of these was made in 1992 by a group of archeologists from Los Angeles who claimed that not only had they located the mythical city of Ubar, but had even determined why it had disappeared.

One of the leaders of the expedition, Nicholas Clapp, was fist inspired to look for Ubar after reading Bertram Thomas’ book on the matter, which in a sense infected him with the same obsession Thomas had had. Clapp began by studying old maps of the region, including several that had been drawn up in 200 AD by the Alexandrian geographer Claudius Ptolemy, as well as old explorer’s reports, Thomas’ own speculations, and moving on to using advanced satellite imagery that utilized a radar detection system which allows researchers to peer right through the sand to make out subterranean features and allowed them to distinguish the ancient trade routes through the region, composed of hard packed earth flattened by endless camels. They found what they were looking for at Shisr, directly under the old well and fort ruins there.

An excavation was started and they began to uncover evidence of what would have once been some sort of settlement, including fire pits, shards of pottery, animal bones, incense burners, coins, and other artifacts, and most impressive of all some kind of mysterious fortress that lies at the center of it all, composed of eight heavy limestone walls measuring 10 to 12 feet high and about 60 feet long, and four immense towers each 10 feet in diameter and 30 feet tall. There was also found evidence of a caved-in sinkhole, which seems to have collapsed below the city to send it tumbling into the cavern below to its ruin, which would explain the stories of the city meeting a violent end. The survivors of this cataclysm would have then abandoned the city, leaving it to its fate to be reclaimed by the desert.

It seems like a remarkable discovery, but the problem is there is absolutely no way to determine if this was the actual mythical city of Ubar rather than just another set of unconnected ruins similar to those found in other areas, and indeed there has been a lot of criticism of Clapp’s claims that this is really the legendary mysterious lost city he was seeking. For one, there is no proof that the fortress found was in reality the hub of a settlement, and even if it was it does not seem that it would have been nearly on the scale of grandeur described in the great legends. In this case, the finding is just basically wishful thinking, prematurely assigning an identity to these anonymous ruins that may have had nothing to do with Ubar and which may not have been any more than a small caravan watering hole.

Then there are those who still doubt that the city ever even really existed at all outside of the tales, and that these expeditions are chasing shadows. One very prevalent theory amongst scholars is that Ubar was never actually a city at all, but rather a region and people that were once prosperous but met their end at the hands of the encroaching, withering desert and the decline of overland trade of incense oils and spices, and its romantic transformation into a mystical lush city of towers and gold was the product of later myths built around it, a real place only in the imagination. One archeologist by the name of Dr. Juris Zarins has said of this:

There’s a lot of confusion about that word (Ubar). If you look at the classical texts and the Arab historical sources, Ubar refers to a region and a group of people, not to a specific town. People always overlook that. It’s very clear on Ptolemy’s second century map of the area. It says in big letters “Iobaritae” And in his text that accompanied the maps, he’s very clear about that. It was only the late medieval version of One Thousand and One Nights, in the fourteenth or fifteenth century, that romanticised Ubar and turned it into a city, rather than a region or a people.

It seems that while the 1996 discovery is certainly interesting, there is no guarantee at all that this is the legendary city spoken of in lore and myth, and indeed Ubar, the Atlantis of the Sands, may not have even existed at all. This discovery does not solve the enigma, and neither it nor the doubts of Ubar being real have done much to quench the desire of explorers to keep pushing further out into this bleak swath of harsh desert in a quest for answers. In the end it remains just as mysterious as it always has, and for as long as the spirit of adventure and belief Ubar as a physical city exist there will be those who seek to find it. Whether they will find the once towering city out there buried in its ancient sandy grave or whether it only looms upon the landscape of the mind remains to be seen.

Bob Lazar, Area 51, UFOs and Russians

area-51-2037418_1920-999x540.jpg

Bob Lazar, Area 51, UFOs and Russians

Here at Mysterious Universe, Robbie Graham has just reviewed the new documentary from Jeremy Corbell, Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers. Robbie says the following of Lazar: “He has always come across as absolutely sincere and has always resisted encouragement to embellish his original testimony. I am of the opinion that Lazar has never spoken untruthfully about his recollections of Area 51 and S-4. However, I have also never doubted that the story that he tells is untrue—which is to say that the circumstances and events of Lazar’s story were carefully orchestrated and staged for him specifically as part of a sophisticated and ongoing UFO perception management campaign, which likely has counterintelligence purposes far beyond the UFO subject.”

Robbie continues with regard to Lazar: “As has been documented by George Knapp and others, there is good reason to believe that Lazar really did work at and/or near Area 51 for a short time in the late 1980s. But it appears he was cherry picked for his job based on his psychological profile and his spotty personal and business history. In other words, it was known and desired that he would blow the whistle when the time came, and that it would be easy to publicly discredit him after he did so, ensuring that his story would not be accepted by all, but by just enough to engrain it into a rapidly expanding subcultural belief system.”

Robbie also says of Corbell’s production: “Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers makes for entertaining and thought-provoking viewing, but what’s missing is any real sense of the political and UFOlogical climate in which Lazar’s story originally came to light—we get the ‘what’ but we don’t get the ‘why.'”

I can fill in at least a part of the “why.” Right now, matters relative to Area 51 are getting quite a resurgence and a revival. In just four weeks from now my new book will be published. The publisher is Visible Ink Press and the title of the book isArea 51: The Revealing Truth of UFOs, Secret Aircraft, Cover-Ups & Conspiracies. As I note in the book, one of the reasons why a program to highlight a fictitious UFO angle at Area 51 was created, was to try and reel in Russian operatives. In his paper, CIA’s Role in the Study of UFOs: 1947-1990, Gerald Haines, historian of the National Reconnaissance Office, stated that in the 1970s and 1980s: “Agency analysts from the Life Science Division of OSI and OSWR officially devoted a small amount of their time to issues relating to UFOs. These included counterintelligence concerns that the Soviets and the KGB were using U.S. citizens and UFO groups to obtain information on sensitive U.S. weapons development programs (such as the Stealth aircraft) [italics mine].”

KGB Building, Moscow

Indeed, creating fabricated tales (and documents) to try and “out” Soviet spies (and domestic assets too) gets to the heart of much of this. It’s a fact that in the 1980s – and specifically so in the latter part of the eighties – the Russians were deeply interested in what was afoot at Area 51. They knew, for example, all about a controversial land grab in  the area by the U.S. Government which began in 1984 and which has continued for years. The Russians were also well aware that some highly radical aircraft were being secretly test-flown out at Area 51 and its immediate surroundings. There is another issue too. While Russian espionage agents were spying on Area 51 – and staying low in Las Vegas, as a means to keep the U.S. Government off their backs – U.S. agents were actually fully aware that those Soviet spies were operating in Nevada, looking to find out what was afoot at the infamous base. The problem was that the U.S. Government, military and intelligence community didn’t know where those Russian agents were, exactly, or who they were. Only that something disturbing was afoot locally, and which involved certain UFO researchers who may have “helped” those same Russians, as per Gerald Haines’ words relative to the CIA’s concerns about the KGB.

As a means to try and smoke out those Soviet personnel, and quickly arrest them, disinformation specialists at Area 51 may well have used Lazar as a patsy; as a man who was used by American intelligence to spread tales of acquired UFOs, dead aliens, and cosmic conspiracies. Lazar may have worked out at Area 51’s S-4, and he also may have fully believed those supposedly top secret briefing papers to which he had access and which told tales of ancient encounters between the human race and aliens, and genetic alterations to the human species made by advanced E.T.s. In that sense, Lazar was a completely unwitting figure in this strange mind-game.

It goes without saying that, for the Russians, uncovering the alien truth would have been the ultimate prize; even more so than anything that might be the creation of U.S. scientists. How could the Russians refuse the startling story – dangling like a carrot before them – of incredible alien science that just might give the Russians the upper-hand? Well, the answer is simple: they couldn’t resist it. The possibility of gaining alien technology, and even extraterrestrial weaponry, had the Russians practically hypnotized. The result: no doubt a quiet word from Moscow in the ear of a couple of guys hiding out in Vegas – let’s say Dimitri and Ivan – who are ordered to find out the amazing truth, but who end up getting arrested. Two important Russian spies have been captured and interrogated and, in the process, no real secrets have been compromised.

On this same issue, it’s worth noting one specific and short statement that Lazar made to journalist George Knapp, regarding what was going on at S-4. Lazar told Knapp that while he, Lazar, was at the base, the staff “play so many mind games there.” Lazar also admitted that certain memories from his time spent at Area 51 were not just hazy, but suspiciouslyhazy. This was something which led Lazar to believe that his mind had been tampered with – possibly via chemicals, hypnosis, and MK-Ultra-type “mind-control” technologies. Lazar was out at S-4, Nevada. But, what he was fed was fiction, designed to try and figure out the scope and number of Russian agents (and those suspected assets…) who were prowling around Nevada. They were actually – and originally – looking for highly advanced terrestrial technology. But, a plan was initiated to give those same agents and assets something else: aliens (dead and maybe alive), recovered extraterrestrial spacecraft, and top secret files. There’s just one thing, though: it was all bogus. Bob Lazar spoke truthfully about his experiences. But, what he was told and what he saw was notthe truth. The false stories of aliens and UFOs at Area 51 were born out of (A) the United States’ wholly understandable and real concerns of Russian knowledge of new American weapon-systems and experimental aircraft and of (B) U.S. attempts to bring that penetration to a halt and to figure out who, in those aforementioned “U.S. citizens and UFO groups,” were actively being used by the KGB.

  • All of this will be followed (quickly) by another book from me, which will take matters even further. It’s title and subtitle: UFOs and Russian Meddling: Soviet Penetration and Manipulation of the Flying Saucer Scene.

Chinese ‘Frankenstein’ Goes Missing After Genetically Modifying Babies

While we all tacitly agree not to think about the many secret Island of Doctor Moreau-style genetic research labs hidden throughout the world creating horrible genetic hybrids and superhumans as we speak, last week’s very public announcement of the successful births of two twins whose genes were altered using CRISPR/Cas-9 shocked the world due to its brazenness. According to a video posted to YouTube, a Chinese researcher named He Jiankui claims to have modified the genomes of twin baby girls in order to make them completely resistant to HIV.

CRISPR essentially 'cuts and pastes' segments of DNA into a host's genome

What could go wrong?

Within hours, the scientific community and journalists around the world began to criticize the experiment as reckless and dangerous, even going so far as to call He the “Chinese Frankenstein.” Harvard and MIT’s David Liu, one of the inventors of CRISPR techniques, called the experiment “an appalling example of what not to do about a promising technology that has great potential to benefit society,” adding he hopes “it never happens again.” Who knew tampering with the genetic makeup of living human beings would be so controversial? Aside from, you know, everyone. Aside from the criticism, the story of He Jiankui and the genetically modified twins has taken a turn for the strange this week when the researcher seems to have gone mysteriously missing. Where could He be?

Prison cell

Probably making Christmas lights in a Chinese prison.

There are conflicting reports about He’s whereabouts and Chinese news outlets are predictably tight-lipped about the matter. When asked about the geneticist, a spokeswoman for the Southern University of Science and Technology where He was an employee gave a rather enigmatic statement:

Right now nobody’s information is accurate, only the official channels are. We cannot answer any questions regarding the matter right now, but if we have any information, we will update it through our official channels.

Of course, their official channels have not been updated. In the meantime, He’s laboratory has been shut down by Chinese authorities who stated that “clinical procedures of gene-editing on human embryos for reproduction purposes are explicitly banned in China.” Is He merely in hiding to avoid all of the negative press and criticism from the entire scientific community, or has he been disappeared in classically Chinese fashion for causing the Middle Kingdom to lose face? Until – or if – this “Chinese Frankenstein” resurfaces, this one will remain a mystery.

Ah, who are we kidding? He’s organs have already been harvested in the back of a mobile execution van. Such is the price of scientific “progress.”

Space Station Robot Accuses Astronauts of Being Mean

ESA/NASA

Space Station Robot Accuses Astronauts of Being Mean

“Be nice, please. Don’t you like it here with me?”

Well, at least it said “please.” A new robot on the International Space Station suddenly turned HAL 9000 on the crew and began complaining about how the crew was treating it. Are there pod bay doors on the ISS? Are there terrified astronauts?

“Don’t be so mean, please. Oh, dear, I feel you. I can already hear your stomach roaring. Should we take a look for when it is time for food?”

This sounds like a creepy kidnapper in a bad horror movie, but it’s not even a bad sci-fi movie … it’s real life on the space station. In late June 2018, CIMON joined the ISS crew. CIMON stands for Crew Interactive Mobile Companion, which sounds more like an inflatable sex doll than a floating round robot with a flat-panel face. (Can things inflate in space? Asking for a friend thinking about volunteering for Mars.) CIMON is actually a service robot like Amazon’s Alexa but equipped with IBM’s Watson artificial intelligence. Its advertised purpose is to help the crew perform tasks by providing instructions, help morale by providing music and entertainment, and help fight the loneliness of space by providing companionship.

You want me to do what?

“And CIMON even plays Kraftwerk on command!”

An excited (and no longer lonely) ISS commander, German astronaut Alexander Gerst, demonstrated CIMON for the first time last week (see the video here) for his former overlords at the European Space Agency. Developed by Airbus for $6 million, CIMON has 12 internal fans that not only allow it to follow astronauts around like some needy C3PO but also to accompany its facial expressions with movements, like nodding for agreement and shaking back-and-forth for “No.” After seeing how it gets moody in initial testing, the crew may now want to see what CIMON does while it says, “I SAID NO!”

“Let’s sing along with those favorite hits. I love music you can dance to. All right. Favorite hits incoming. I understood do you like the music. I understand that.”

That is the CIMON version of “I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that” and “l think you know what the problem is just as well as l do” which it uttered when Grist tried to get it to shut off the music that the robot was obviously enjoying. Would shutting off the music jeopardize the mission? Not hardly, but CIMON wasn‘t about to shut it off, nor did it let Grist get close enough to hit its ‘kill’ switch. The commander didn’t seem too upset … maybe CIMON has some other ‘talents’ that keep him happy.

While CIMON has artificial intelligence, the moodiness and emotions are actually programmed. It has the Myer-Briggs personality type ISTJ — Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging – and it can smile when it’s supposed to be happy and cry when it’s supposed to be sad. Now THAT’S sad.

Turn up the Kraftwerk, Dave.

“He appears to like the deck position better.”

While CIMON didn’t cry, that was the statement by Gerst which caused it to ask (order?) him to “Be nice.” Will future astronauts lose their cool and “deck” CIMON? Would you blame them?

“CIMON says, “This conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.””

Canadian team confirms presence of huge unexplored cave in British Columbia

Cave in Wells Gray Provincial Park described as “about as big as they come in Canada”

A massive pit that was spotted in a remote high alpine valley in British Columbia’s Wells Gray Provincial Park earlier this year is the entrance to a previously unexplored cave of “national significance,” say two members of a Canadian team that helped conduct a preliminary exploration of the site in September.

The cave “has a number of features that when combined indicate a cave of national significance” and constitutes “a major new find in Western Canada, and promises a dramatic new chapter in the story of Canadian cave exploration,” say John Pollack and Chas Yonge in a document they co-wrote that summarizes the significance of the find.

Pollack, who is a archeological surveyor, further explained the significance of the cave in an exclusive interview with Canadian Geographic. “I’ve been in some of the biggest caves in the world, and this thing has an entrance that is truly immense, and not just by Canadian standards,” he said. “The opening is 100 metres long by 60 metres wide, and when you’re standing on the edge looking down into it, your line of sight is nearly 600 feet [183 metres]. You don’t get lines of sight of 600 feet in Canadian caves — it just doesn’t happen. And this is a shaft. It goes down quite precipitously, it had a large amount of water flowing into it and is wide open for as far down it that we’ve gone. The scale of this thing is just huge, and about as big as they come in Canada.”

Pollack said that the pit was spotted in April during a routine aerial caribou survey conducted by British Columbia's Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, and that Bevan Ernst, a regional caribou biologist with the ministry, called it “Sarlaac Pit” (a reference to a subterranean creature that made a brief appearance in the film Return of the Jedi). Pollack added that the name Ernst gave the pit is unofficial and temporary. BC Parks is consulting with local First Nations to determine whether a traditional Indigenous name for the cave exists.

The exact depth and size of the cave has not been determined, but Pollack said he believes that the water flowing into it forms an underground river that emerges 2.1 kilometres away and 500 metres lower, which gives some early indication of the cave’s length. “While the deepest cave in Canada now exceeds 670 metres,” Pollack and Yonge note in their summary, “these measurements suggest we will be facing a very deep and challenging river cave. It will be highly technical.” Pollack said that future exploration of the cave is being considered in consultation with BC Parks, and that a team is likely to be fielded in 2020.

When asked whether anyone had explored the cave before, Pollack said there was only a very remote chance anyone had ever attempted a descent, given the cave’s depth and nature. “The entrance to the river sink is precipitous, intimidating and sufficiently technical that pre-contact descent is unlikely,” he said. “You’d need long ropes and the rope-ascending systems carried by cavers — it’s very unlikely that someone would try to drop into it on a short rope of the kind carried by mountaineers. Plus, the entrance is sufficiently notable that descent attempt would have been written up by mountaineers, cavers or park staff if it had been encountered in the past 40 or 50 years. No such account exists in caving or mountaineering literature.”

Members of the team that conducted the preliminary on-site exploration of the cave in Wells Gray Provincial Park include (left to right): John Pollack, Ken Lancour, Catherine Hickson, Lee Hollis and Tod Haughton. Chas Yonge is not pictured but assisted the team remotely.

On Sept. 9, Pollack spent the day at the site with geologist Catherine Hickson, caver Lee Hollis, BC Parks area supervisor Tod Haughton and Ken Lancour, the helicopter pilot who Ernst was with when the entrance to the cave was spotted in April. Yonge, who is a geochemist and a renowned speleologist, did not make the journey in September but supported the team remotely by examining photos and videos of the cave. The reconnaissance project was organized by Hickson and jointly funded by her company Tuya Terra Geo Corp., Pollack and BC Parks.

While Pollack used a laser instrument and 3D photographic rendering to produce a survey of the pit and Hickson examined the geology on the surface, Hollis rigged up ropes to one side of the 61-metre waterfall that plunges into the pit and rappelled to a depth of 70 metres before climbing down 10 more metres, where the volume of water of the underground river prevented him from going any farther. “It was a privilege to make the first known descent and my focus was purely on rigging, rockfall hazards and avoiding the powerful whitewater that could have dragged me into the abyss,” said Hollis, who’s been caving for 31 years in Europe, North America and Asia. “This is by far the largest and most impressive entrance pit I’ve ever encountered, and during my brief descent it showed no signs of closing down. There’s a lot of water thundering down there, so it will make for a sporting trip.”

Lee Hollis descends into the entrance of the cave during the preliminary exploration of the site on Sept. 9. Hollis got as far as 80 metres into the cave before an underground river prevented him from going any farther.
(Photo: Catherine Hickson)

The waterfall is formed by a large stream that’s fed by snowpack and glacier meltwater from a surrounding area of 10 square kilometres. “This thing is getting pounded by a large volume of water in the spring,” said Pollack. “We don’t know how much, but it could be something along the order of five to 15 cubic metres per second — maybe a couple of dumptruck loads of water per second. At a higher flow, like on a hot summer day, it would definitely be in the double digits. When Lee went down, he was right down on bedrock — there were no boulders, no gravel, no cobbles, nothing. Everything had been stripped right out of there, which tells you that the force and volume of the water coming down in spring is gigantic.”

That pounding is part of what helped form the cave. “From the evidence we see from the surface, the pit, which is simply the vertical part of the cave entrance, and the cave that leads away from it was carved into the marble by dissolution and mechanical abrasion,” said Hickson. “The waters drain directly from the glaciers and are laden with silt and sand, which is highly abrasive.”

Pollack wouldn’t reveal the exact location of the cave, saying only that it was in the northern section of the park. Asked whether he was concerned about protecting the site, he said, “We are, but also the thing is that this cave is truly in the middle of nowhere. We don’t even think it’s feasible for someone to walk in and do anything. You might be able to reach it, but you couldn't bring in enough equipment to do anything about it. It’s out there in mountainous terrain, surrounded by glaciers and at the bottom of a 45-degree avalanche slope that rises 2,000 to 2,500 feet above it, meaning you can’t go to it in winter. The only time you can really do anything there is in September, when the water flow is at its lowest. This is a wild place.”

Zien: reusachtige onverkende grot ontdekt in Canada.

EXCLUSIVE: The Bob Lazar Interview

EXCLUSIVE: The Bob Lazar Interview

Former Government physicist Bob Lazar made headlines world-wide in 1989 when he came forward with his account of reverse-engineering an alien spacecraft for the US Military.

Bob%2BLazar%2BInterview%2B2018.jpg

The reason the public even knows the name Area 51 is because Lazar talked about the work he did at the formerly secret military base.

Burdened with a revolutionary secret, he had to choose between his oath to his country or his conscience.

His wife believes him, his mom believes him, and the closer you get to his inner-circle, the more YOU believe him.

His testimony remains the most controversial and important UFO story of all time; especially if it’s true.

Lazar blew the whistle, shocked the world, then went silent.XX Corbell’s film intimately chronicles the triumphs and travails of a cosmic whistleblower. It investigates Lazar’s groundbreaking claims of our government’s secret program to create a fierce technology based on recovered alien vehicles.

Providing rare and never before revealed footage, Corbell's film will shake the foundations of your beliefs and permanently alter the landscape of the debate.

It reveals the devastating impact his actions have had on his life over the course of the last thirty years.

His public disclosures have turned his life upside-down and he has tried to stay out of the spotlight.

For this reason, has never let any journalist or filmmaker into the private world of his daily life - that is - until now.

Date of sighting: November 13, 2018
Location of sighting: Cape Lookout, North Carolina, USA

This is an amazing capture at a time of night when most people are not around, but this night fisherman caught it well. He has a steady hand as he records this UFO for over minute and a half. This is very similar to the Florida beach sighting back in 2015 where glowing orbs would show up almost nightly for several weeks. Are they UFOs? Yes, they are coming from underwater bases and they have to get all the water off their craft before they shoot out into space so they will air dry for a while till ready to depart. Why? Maybe the water slows them down as it freezes in space or causes the craft to travel unsteady when frozen to the craft. I will place the 2015 video below this post.

Eyewitness states:
Stationary orange lights in the sky. Seen east off of Cape Lookout on 11/13/18, roughly between 9-10PM Eastern.
Around 9 p.m., I rebaited my hooks, cast them out into the surf and walked back to my chair. When I turned back to the ocean, I saw a light in the sky. The light is very bright, stationary and silent. Over the course of the next hour it faded in and out, as well as sometimes becoming multiple lights. The lights vanished at one point for nearly 20 minutes, says the post, and then reappeared much closer to my position.
