ACROSS AMERICA MYSTERY PLANES ARE RELEASING ‘HUGE PLUMES’ OF ALUMINUM AND OTHER PARTICLES, BAFFLING METEOROLOGISTS

Across America meteorologists frequently see anomalous formations showing up on radar that have no connection to trending weather patterns. In some cases these unnatural formations are found to have been caused by emissions from power plants which can cause weather changes including several inches of snow.

In 2018 we reported on a collection of video clips of local meteorologists reporting on supposed chaff spraying by military aircraft. Military chaff is a particulate substance made primarily of aluminum and aluminum coated fiber glass which is sprayed into the sky to jam enemy radar and communications equipment. Aluminum is a substance that is widely known to be harmful to human and animal health when ingested, but these types of overhead exercises are apparently very common.

“Chaff consists of small fibers that reflect radar signals and, when dispensed in large quantities from aircraft, form a cloud that temporarily hides the aircraft from radar detection. The two major types of military chaff in use are aluminum foil and aluminum-coated glass fibers. The aluminum foil-type is no longer manufactured, although it may still be in use.” [Source]

Here, an ex-military weatherman tells the public everything they need to know about chaff.

The most recent incidents of such mystery aerosol formations over populated U.S. areas is from December, in which meteorologists from Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky all reported seeing unusual lines of formations. After quite a mystery, it was eventually agreed upon that this particular incident involved C-130 aircraft spraying chaff in the skies.

“Back on Dec. 10, the Evansville area was embroiled in intrigue when mysterious radar blips appeared over Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky. The long lines baffled the National Weather Service because they looked like storms – but it wasn’t raining.

The War Zone eventually confirmed the anomalies arose when a C-130 traveling to West Virginia from a military exercise out west released over our area huge plumes of military chaff – radar-jamming material mostly composed of aluminum.” [Source]

Shortly after the recent incidents in December, another similar event occurred, however, local meteorologists and television crews have not been able to find a suitable explanation. Another event occured shortly thereafter off the coast of southern Florida and over Portland, Maine.

But unlike here, no concrete explanation sprang forth.

According to The War Zone, the one Maine Air National Guard flying unit doesn’t have any planes equipped to release chaff. And it’s not like a plane from a different base would jet all the way to Maine just to spew chaff.

That same day, strange radar shapes appeared over the Florida Keys, too. Again, the NWS guessed it was chaff – Florida is apparently rife with military exercises – but that hypothesis was never confirmed.” [Source]

Of note is the fact that the military, NASA and certainly other organs of the Federal government are actively engaged in spraying materials into skies over America, without the consent of we the people living below. And this practice seems to be occurring with greater frequency as we enter the age of open bioengineering, which was oddly considered to be a conspiracy theory until mainstream news organizations began in recent years to report on the pressing need for solar radiation management in order to curb global warming.

Solar radiation management is a euphemism for chemtrails, which describes the practice over spraying massive quantities of toxic chemicals in the skies over populated areas.

World War II was an expansive morass of violence that spanned two regions of the globe and went on to grip the entire world with fear and suffering. It is a turbulent time already infused with a rich history, but scattered amongst the tales of battle and valor are other, more little-known stories of strange mysteries from beyond our understanding. Many of these are connected to the skies of World War II, which were invaded by warplanes, bombs, and explosions, but which also hold some of the most intriguing unexplained mysteries of the era. Here is a selection of some of the weirder unsolved mysteries of the skies of the intense cauldron of human violence that was World War II.

Of all of the planes flying about and tearing up the skies in the era of World War II, many of them obviously never came back, but the strangest of these cases are when they simply vanished into thin air without a trace. One of the most oft-discussed and mysterious vanishings of aircraft revolves around the enigmatic Flight 19, in 1945. The flight in question was actually a group of U.S. Navy TBM Avenger torpedo bombers that took off from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on December 5, 1945, on a Naval exercise called “Navigation Problem Number One,” which was for the purpose of carrying out mock bombing runs along an area known as Hens and Chickens Shoals in the Bahamas. It was all a standard, routine flight, and each of the five planes in the squadron was manned by 3 experienced men, with the whole thing under the command of a seasoned pilot by the name of Lieutenant Taylor.

The first half of the mission all went according to plan, the dummy bombs were dropped, and the planes headed off on the second leg of their mission, but this was when things would get strange indeed. The leader, Taylor, began to complain that his compass was on the fritz, and he further proclaimed that the planes were all flying in the wrong direction. As the group of planes floundered about trying to get their bearings, one of the pilots radioed, “I don’t know where we are. We must have got lost after that last turn.” A passing Navy plane piloted by a Lieutenant Robert F. Cox was flying by at the time and overheard the radio chatter, after which he extended an offer of help, as well as a message to the nearest air station of what was going on. In response, he got a chilling message from a frightened sounding Taylor that said:

Both my compasses are out and I’m trying to find Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I’m over land, but it’s broken. I’m sure I’m in the Keys, but I don’t know how far down.

This was strange to say the least, as the group had just successfully fulfilled the first half of their mission near the Bahamas and should have been nowhere near the Florida Keys at that point in time. After this, Taylor, convinced that he was way off course, instructed his squadron to veer off towards the northeast, thinking it would take them home but really only sending them further out to sea. Some of the other pilots in the group protested the move, saying they should fly west, but the order had been given and off they went. At one point Taylor changed his mind and directed them west, but then they changed their course to east once again. It was all rather bizarre behavior to say the least. As this was happening, the radio chatter from Flight 19 became fainter and more distorted, and one of the final transmissions was:

All planes close up tight. We’ll have to ditch unless landfall…when the first plane drops below ten gallons, we all go down together.

This seemed to suggest that Taylor was aware that their fuel was running low and that they were on a one way ticket into the sea, and after that the radio transmissions became plagued by strange static before going silent. The Navy was quick to respond, sending out a search crew almost immediately after this final transmission, but they were unable to find any sign of Flight 19. Indeed, one of the searchers, a Mariner aircraft and its 13 crew members, also suddenly lost communications and dropped off the face of the earth as well to join Flight 19 in the annals of great mysteries. This in turn prompted its own search party and the whole thing turned into a hot mess quite rapidly.

In the end, the Navy would scour over 3,000 square miles of sea in search of the missing planes but would turn up not even a scrap of wreckage. Of course, considering the proximity to the notorious Bermuda Triangle the media was all over this and theories began to fly. One was that Taylor had been somewhat unfit for duty, which had impacted his judgement during the doomed mission. There are reports that he had arrived late on the day of the mission and had for unknown reasons implored the command not to go through with it. This has led to the most popular, “rational” theory that these planes under his questionable state simply made a mistake, ran out of fuel, and crashed into the ocean to never be seen again. The mystery was even tantalizingly “solved” for a time when in 1991 a team of treasure hunters came across the wrecks of five World War II Avengers planes at the bottom of the sea, but these turned out to have not had anything to do with the mysterious lost flight. The fate of Flight 19 remains unknown.

Just as mysterious is a phenomenon that pervaded the war in both the European and Pacific theaters in the form of myriad unexplainable occurrences collectively known as “Foo Fighters.” These typically took the form of inexplicable orbs, lights, glows, and “balls of fire” that darted about in the war-torn skies with inhuman maneuverability to startle even the most experienced pilots, and which were first seen from around 1944. One of the earliest Allied accounts was from Army Air Major William D. Leet, who in December of 1944 was on a mission aboard a B-17 near the Adriatic Sea when he and his crew saw something up there in the clouds that did not belong, a small disc that seemed to defy all laws of physics in its movements and which tracked them for some time. In that very same month another pilot with the 415 Nigh Fighter Squadron over Hagenau, Germany had his own encounter with glowing orange balls in the sky, saying:

Upon reaching our altitude they leveled off and stayed on my tail. After staying with the plane for two minutes, they peeled off and turned away, flying under perfect control, and then went out.

Another early report is that of Charles R. Bastien, of the Eighth Air Force, who said that he had seen “two fog lights flying at high rates of speed that could change direction rapidly” while on a mission over the region of Belgium. In another report over the Indian Ocean one of the crew of a U.S. B-29 Superfortress says they saw something very unusual near the plane, saying of the bizarre experience:

A strange object was pacing us about 500 yards (475 m) off the starboard wing. At that distance it appeared as a spherical object, probably five or six feet in diameter, of a very bright and intense red or orange… it seemed to have a halo effect. My gunner reported it coming in from about a 5 o’clock position (right rear) at our level. It seemed to throb or vibrate constantly. Assuming it was some kind of radio-controlled object sent to pace us, I went into evasive action, changing direction constantly, as much as 90 degrees and altitude of about 2,000 feet (600 m). It followed our every maneuver for about eight minutes, always holding a position about 500 yards (475m) out and about 2 o’clock in relation to the plane. When it left, it made an abrupt 90 degree turn, accelerating rapidly, and disappeared into the overcast.

Such sightings became rather common and occurred all over the place, often seen by entire crews, and with none of these experienced airmen able to find a rational explanation for what they had seen. The objects were also picked up quite frequently by radar crews and air traffic control, who often claimed that they would accelerate rapidly or vanish from view for no reason. Many pilots tried to take evasive maneuvers but this never really worked, and the occasional attempts to shoot the lights down were equally unsuccessful. These were beyond our comprehension.

Sightings of the Foo Fighters were well reported in the press at the time, and became so numerous that they were obviously not simply a figment of the imagination, and what they could be was heavily speculated upon. The most common explanation was that they were some sort of experimental German aircraft, but this didn’t seem to fit as the mysterious objects were nonthreatening and never seemed to take any aggressive action, and it would also turn out that enemy forces had been seeing the exact same kind of things, which they had conversely thought to be experimental aircraft of the Allies. Other explanations have included that they were the result of some sort of atmospheric phenomenon such as electrical discharges called St. Elmo’s fire, that they were ball lightning or an electromagnetic disturbance, that they were merely afterimages of flashes from explosions, and of course that they were alien UFOs, but the strange phenomenon of the Foo Fighters of World War II has never been fully explained and remains a mystery.

In addition to vanishings and mysterious lights there are also cases of what can only be called “ghost planes.” One famous case of such a mystery is what is often called the “Pearl Harbor Ghost Plane,” and which involves a very odd occurrence that supposedly happened on December 8, 1942, just about a year after the infamous attack. On this day, an unidentified incoming plane was detected flying towards Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, from out over the Pacific Ocean, seemingly coming from nowhere. Attempts at radio contact were met with silence, and warplanes were scrambled to investigate the intruder.

On closer inspection it was seen to be an out of date model called a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, which had not been in operation since the attack on Pearl Harbor. The mystery aircraft seemed to have seen better days, its shell perforated by numerous bullet holes a and the engine sputtering noticeably, and there seemed to be a pilot within who was bloody and struggling to keep his plane under control. The military escort paced the plane for a while, baffled as to where it had come from and wondering what to do, when the mysterious pilot waved at them and proceeded to crash land. When the wreckage was examined it is said that there was no sign of the pilot that had been seen, and the only clue that could be found was a diary in which it was written that the plane had flown in from the island of Mindanao, a full 1,300 miles away. The pilot has never been seen, no reason ascertained for why it appeared, and the Ghost Plane of Pearl Harbor continues to be a weird World War II mystery.

Probably even more bizarre is a case from November 23, 1944, when a British Royal Air Force antiaircraft unit stationed near Cortonburg, Belgium was surprised by something they saw lumbering towards them in the sky. There barreling in their direction was an American Army Air Corps B-17 bomber, a four-engine heavy bomber so colossal and heavily armed that it was nicknamed the “Flying Fortress.” The plane was coming in rather fast with its landing gear down, and because there was no such landing scheduled and because of the speed of the incoming aircraft it was assumed that it was preparing to make an emergency landing at their base. A communication with the base proved that indeed no such B-17 landing was expected, and the gunner crew braced themselves as the massive aircraft came hurtling in towards a nearby open, plowed field.

It was a rather messy landing to say the least, with the aircraft bouncing and swerving along as the terrified gunners looked on, finally stopping dangerously close to the position after one of its wings clipped the ground, yet it was still in one piece and had not actually crashed. The aircraft sat there looming over the field as its formidable propellers continued to spin in a cacophony of noise, but as the minutes ticked by no one exited the plane. When 20 minutes had passed with no sign of human activity, and the plane just squatting there with its engines running like some growling beast, it was decided to go in and investigate.

The team warily went in, opened the entry hatch located under the fuselage and proceeded to enter, expecting that perhaps the crew had been injured or otherwise unable to get out of the plane. What they did not expect was that the plane would be completely empty. A full sweep through the aircraft showed that not a single crew member was aboard, although it would later be reported that there were signs that the crew had just recently been there and must have vacated the aircraft in a hurry. There were found to be chocolate bars unwrapped and half eaten lying about, a row of neatly folded parachutes, with none apparently missing, and jackets that had been neatly hung up. The superior officer, a John V. Crisp, would say of the eerie scene:

We now made a thorough search and our most remarkable find in the fuselage was about a dozen parachutes neatly wrapped and ready for clipping on. This made the whereabouts of the crew even more mysterious. The Sperry bomb-sight remained in the Perspex nose, quite undamaged, with its cover neatly folded beside it. Back on the navigator’s desk was the code book giving the colours and letters of the day for identification purposes. Various fur-lined flying jackets lay in the fuselage together with a few bars of chocolate, partly consumed in some cases.

Where had they gone and how had the plane landed on its own? No one had any idea. Crisp had the engines shut down and the interior was further inspected. The log book was found opened, and the last cryptic words written in it were “bad flak.” Yet considering that all of the parachutes seemed to be accounted for and the exterior of the plane did not have evidence of damage except for what it had incurred in its rough landing, such as the buckled wing and one disabled engine, it seemed to be a rather strange last message.

The mystery B-17 began to be called the “Phantom Fortress,” and nobody knew just how it could have come in to make a landing by itself minus a crew, or what had become of those aboard. It would not be until a team was sent in by the Advanced Headquarters, 8th Air Force Service Command in Brussels, that a picture of what occurred was formed. It was ascertained through the aircraft’s serial number that the plane had been part of a bombing squadron called the 91st Bombardment Group, and that they had been on a mission to bomb oil refineries in Merseburg, Germany, when problems arose.

According to the bomber’s crew, all of whom were tracked down and found to have been alive and safe, their aircraft at some point had developed a malfunctioning bomb rack and had been forced to abort. They flew off away from the rest of the group but had been hit by enemy fire, which knocked out one of the aircraft’s four engines. There was also a hit on the bomb bay itself, which had caused a bright flash, but rather oddly had not set off the ordnance. The decision was made by the crew of the limping, damaged plane to set a course towards England, but this idea was quickly abandoned when it became apparent that the hobbled aircraft was never going to make it that far.

They changed their course towards Brussels, Belgium, at the same time making the plane lighter by dumping and jettisoning any unnecessary or nonessential equipment on board. When the plane still continued to suffer and a second engine on the struggling plane sputtered out, it was decided that the aircraft would be unable to make the journey, and the crew had then decided to bail out. The B-17 was put on autopilot and left to its fate as the crew jumped to safety. No one thought it would make it very far, let alone somehow land, but land it did. This was all very interesting information, but it still did not seem to explain a lot of odd details. For one, why did ground crew report all 4 engines working as the bomber had approached, with one being damaged only upon landing, when the report said that 2 engines had been knocked out during the mission? Indeed, where was the damage from the claimed enemy fire? Also, why were all of the parachutes still there if the crew had bailed out? Perhaps most mysterious of all, how had a large, cumbersome plane like the B-17 manage to come to a landing without a pilot?

Authorities on the case, as well as crew members of the Phantom Fortress, offered up some theories to try and shed some light on at least a few of the mysteries surrounding the event. For instance, with the engines it could have been that the technical difficulties cleared up on their own after the crew had bailed out, making the plane seem to have 4 fully operating engines on approach, although why they would start working again after being taken out remains mysterious. If the engines had been in bad enough shape for the crew to abandon the aircraft it seems odd that they should kick back into working order on their own and continue whirring away even after the rough landing.

With regards to the lack of any apparent visible damage from enemy fire, it has been suggested that this could have just been simply due to the untrained eyes of the team that initially investigated the plane after it had landed. They were after all a gunner crew, not trained aviators, and may have mistaken the damage reported by the B-17 crew as being from the crash. They simply might not have noticed that the aircraft had sustained battle damage, but then again they were antiaircraft gunners and might have had some idea. With the parachutes, it was surmised that they had possibly mistaken some spare parachutes as the full compliment. However, this is all speculation, and the mystery has never been totally solved.

As to how the B-17 could have come to a landing mostly intact without a pilot, that is still largely a mystery as well. Autopilot is one thing, but landing is another beast altogether. After all, there is that old saying, “Flying is easy, landing is hard.” Even with a pilot landing such an immense aircraft would be very difficult. A pilotless B-17 landing by itself with no one on board was totally unprecedented, and one would expect it to have careened into the ground to crash into a ball of fire and debris, or at least ended up a heap of twisted wreckage, so how could this happen?

Although no one really knows for sure, the main theory is that the plane simply lost altitude slowly, at just the right speed, and with just the right angle of descent to come down relatively softly enough to appear as if it was landing, with the B-17’s legendary toughness and sturdy frame managing to hold it together to keep it from disintegrating. The odds of all of this happening in just such a way seem to be extremely small and unlikely, but is this really possible at all? Also, there is the rather odd detail that this unmanned plane just happened to come down in the exact best place to land under the circumstances, in that wide open field, and not one of the countless other places it could have come down more tragically. This could very well all be pure, blind chance, and these disparate factors all amazingly coming together just right, but it still all seems very strange indeed.

The mystery landing of the “Phantom Fortress” did happen, but the details of how it did remain mysterious and open to speculation. What we do know for sure is that this B-17 was on a bombing mission in Germany, that it did land without a crew in that field, and that the crew members were later found to have been alive and well with quite a story to tell, but questions remain. Are the B-17 crew’s reports or the British gunnery crew’s accounts totally accurate? Why don’t they line up? Did everything happen as they said it did? How could this plane have landed by itself in just the right way and in just the right place to keep from being a mangled pile of metal? Just what in the world happened here?

There is also the ghostly plane that haunted the skies of Northern Italy during the war to rain down destruction upon the countryside, and came to be known to the cowering people as “Pippo.” The rather cartoonishly named Pippo was said to appear only at night, always alone, and would most often perform punishing strafing runs on seemingly indiscriminate targets, either firing with its blazing machine guns or dropping fiery bombs. Sometimes it was said to deploy rather bizarre ordinance, such as exploding pens, incendiary flares, or poisoned candy. Sometimes it was known to drop so-called “butterfly bombs,” which was interestingly a German 2 kilogram anti-personnel submunition used by the Luftwaffe.

The mystery plane seemed to have no rhyme or reason to its choice of targets, unleashing death upon everyone from both Axis and Allied soldiers, to innocent civilians, to farmers working their fields. At other times, the plane would not attack at all, and would merely circle overhead for some inscrutable reason known only to it, all the while emanating that strange, haunting sound said to be unlike any other known aircraft. The terrified people deeply feared the plane, and would retreat into their homes at the slightest sign of the unique, unmistakeable, and rather strange unsettling “pip-pip” sound it was said to make, perhaps the origin of its relatively non-threatening sounding name. Once inside, the lore suggests that it was necessary to turn off or block all lights or else the phantom plane might choose your house as its next target.

Most of the time the bizarre phantom plane remained unseen and cloaked in darkness, its odd sound and the destruction it delivered the only evidence that it was even there at all. In every case, Pippo would appear from nowhere, go about its dark work, and then simply vanish. In more than a few cases it was said to sometimes vanish into thin air right in the middle of one of its attacks, as if it had never been there at all, with only burning rubble and dead bodies testament to the fact that it had made its presence known. It is unsure just where Pippo came from, what type of plane it was, or who was piloting it. Those loyal to the fascist government regime blamed the plane on the Allies, while those siding with Allied Forces thought it to be a Luftwaffe or Italian Air Force aircraft. Most of the terrified people claimed that there was no pilot at all, and that it was a ghost plane powered by some malevolent force loyal to no one or even the devil himself.

There are scarce records of this phenomenon in the official aviation literature. Accounts of Pippo are known of mostly through oral tradition, letters, diaries, and newspaper reports, but as phenomenal as the idea of a spectral plane flying solo missions over the Italian countryside may seem, it has been mostly agreed upon that the stories have some grain of truth to them and were likely based upon an actual plane. However, it is not clear just what its origins could have been. One possibility was that it was the Italian government orchestrating a propaganda campaign against the Allies or some kind of psychological warfare, by having one of their own planes attack its own civilians and then blame it on the enemy to turn public opinion against them. Others say it was some loose cannon pilot waging a personal vigilante war against his enemy, perhaps on some unknown vendetta. There is also the possibility that the plane could have been one of the many tactical night missions launched by the Allies in the aftermath of gaining the upper hand in Italy.

At this time, there were numerous solitary sorties done in the dark of night which were meant to halt German troop movements and prevent them from reinforcing their ranks. For such perilous missions, the Royal Air Force made much use of a type of aircraft called the de Havilland Mosquito, which was known for its rather unusual and distinctive buzzing drone, a fact that could explain the persistent detail of Pippo’s unusual sound. It has been surmised that the planes on these solo night missions, such as the Bristol Beaufighter, Northrop P-61, or de Havilland Mosquito, may have given rise to the stories of a lone ghostly plane terrorizing the populace. Still others stand by the theory that Pippo was exactly what many of the citizens thought it was; a phantom or ghost hellbent on some unknowable purpose.

There are other cases like this as well, and this has only been a section of the many air mysteries of World War II. It seems that even as the sky exploded and warplanes buzzed overhead there was something more to just the blood and the carnage. Beyond the violence and the fog of war were also mysteries that have never really been satisfactorily explained, and which serve to put a new sheen of the weird over one of the most tumultuous and bloodiest times in human history.

If you look closely at the original video, you will notice that the woman instead of blinking normally, does it laterally, as if it were a reptile, a fact that was noticed by thousands of users who say that this YouTube channel would be controlled for them, the reptilians.

Curiously, channel Аллатра ТВ belongs to a strange Russian sect called "Allatra", which seeks to unite the whole world, regardless of nationality, in the same moral and spiritual bosom.

Small UFO Seen Hovering Over A Police Car In Spain

Something mysterious was spotted above a police car in Spain, leading some to believe that it was an alien probe watching us.

Spanish police officers were taking images of their vehicle when a siren light exposed something strange hovering just above it. The small drone-like object was somewhat lurking as if it was monitoring the happenings below. Some conspiracy theorists quickly concluded that the craft was of extraterrestrial origin.

The UFO can be seen emitting blue lights in more than one pictures, confirming its presence rather than a mere reflection on the camera lens.

Alien enthusiasts suggested it was more like a monitoring device by extraterrestrials rather than a vehicle with aliens inside.

According to a conspiracy theory, Earth’s atmosphere is likely to be deadly to extraterrestrials.

Other UFO enthusiasts believed it was cloaked, but the flashing blue lights from the police vehicle revealed it. The mysterious aerial thing appeared to be small, about .5 to 1 meter across.

Being so small made some observers think that it was an alien drone device since the Earth could not support all forms of alien life. Conspiracy theorists explained that the Earth’s atmosphere could be deadly to some ETs.

Red UFO In The Night Sky Baffles New Plymouth Man

Grant Black says that he isn’t a nut or anything but knows many people will think otherwise when he says he saw a red UFO.  The Taranaki man (New Zealand) claims he saw a red UFO with a shape like a round ball flying close to New Plymouth and towards the coast on Friday night.

According to his report, he was sitting and watching a TV show when he saw something. The Plymouth Rd resident explained he saw a massive red ball flying fast through the sky horizontally.

Black estimates the size of the mysterious UFO to be approximately 500 metres. The red ball was moving parallel with Kirihau Rd towards the coast.

Black stresses that it was not falling but was moving horizontally to the ground. He says that he does not have a thing in mind to explain what he saw and is asking if any others witnessed the same strange object in the air before it vanished.

Black says that he has asked a couple of neighbours, but no one saw anything unusual.

Impending Solar Flash Event Supported by Scientific Studies & Insider Testimony - PART I

In a six-part series of videos titled Earth Catastrophe Cycle, Ben Davidson, founder of Space Weather News, presented multiple scientific studies of “micronova” (aka “solar flash”) events that recur in human history, and the subsequent pole shifts that haven taken place on a cyclic basis. The scientific data confirms that micronova events are common occurrences in our galaxy, and such events span Earth’s history, are associated with pole shifts, yet the evidence has been suppressed by government authorities for decades.

In part 4 of his video series, Davidson presents scientific studies showing how “micronovas” have been observed occurring in multiple stars by astronomers. “Micronova” is Davidson’s term for a supernova type event that is not large enough to exhaust or destroy the star generating it, but large enough to devastate nearby planets. He said:

What is a micronova? It’s not a supernova, it’s not even really a nova, as it is like the little sister of the nova, one that can affect the entire world but not completely destroy it.

Davidson’s video shows evidence that such micronova events are a cyclic part of the life of a star, and includes the following list of 10 known recurring nova events observed in the Milky Way.

Davidson referred to a number of sources pointing to solar flashes being part of Earth’s geological history. Among these is Dr. Robert Schoch, Associate Professor of Natural Sciences at Boston University and author of Forgotten Civilization: The Role of Solar Outbursts in our Past and Future. In a video interview in part 4 of Davidson’s series, Schoch explained that ice core samples from Greenland show that there was a solar burst or flare recorded at the end of the last Ice Age, known as the Younger Dryas, about 9700 BCE.

Schock and Davidson estimated that the micronova event was as much as 40 times the power of the most destructive solar storm observed in modern history, the 1859 Carrington event. This would make the Younger Dryas micronova as much as an X-100+ solar flare according to the measurement scale currently in use. Quite alarming, especially if this were to repeat any time soon.

The enormous amount of plasma that arrived immediately after the micronova event circa 9700 BCE, bombarded the Earth producing an effect similar to one or more major asteroid impacts. This has caused confusion and led many archeological researchers into mistakenly interpreting historic evidence of impacts causing and/or ending the last ice age, as deriving from asteroid impacts rather than plasma discharges.

In his interview and book, Schoch asserts that ancient records are consistent with a solar flash that wiped out an ancient civilization predating the end of the last Ice Age, widely assumed to be Plato’s Atlantis.

The scientific data on solar flashes goes back several decades. Bradley Schaefer, an astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, wrote a paper titled, “Flashes from Normal Stars” that appeared in the February 1989 edition of The Astrophysical Journal. He dated the beginning of research into solar flashes to a 1959 study by H. Johnson who at the time “performed the only study which is capable of detecting rare flashes from normal field stars.”

Schaefer examined NASA data on glazing discovered on lunar rocks that was first presented in a 1969 paper by T. Gold published in Science who had concluded: “Some glazing is apparently due to radiation heating; it suggests a giant solar outburst in geologically recent times”. Schaefer agreed with Gold’s analysis and reached a similar conclusion:

The existence of a glazing on the top surfaces of lunar rocks has been used as a strong argument for a “solar outburst” where the Sun increased its luminosity by over 100 times for 10 to 100s within the last 30,000 years.

Schaefer went on to describe how such a “solar outburst” (aka solar flash or micronova) could result in an Extinction Level Event:

I crudely estimate that a flash … might result in a major extinction episode. (The Cretatious-Tertiary dinosaur extinctions cannot be explained by a flash since there is no mechanism for enhancing iridium.) The Sun could have undergone a few (at most) such super flashes in the last 10⁸ yr [100,000,000 years]. These data suggest that our own Sun may have a significantly lower event rate than average field stars.

In part 5 of his video series, Davidson interviews solar cycle researcher Douglas Vogt who discusses the scientific data that lunar rocks provide hard evidence of solar flashes having occurred in recent geological history.

The scientific data compiled by Davidson in his video series is cogent and compelling, yet, it provides no answer to the critical question: “When will the next micronova or solar flash event occur?” For a detailed answer, we can turn to the startling testimony of Corey Goode, who says he has received intelligence briefings about when the “solar flash” will occur from two independent sources: a Secret Space Program Alliance and an Inner Earth civilization he calls the “Anshar”.

Goode says that he served in multiple secret space programs over a 20 year period from 1986 to 2007. While his claims have been very controversial, my research has found multiple points of corroboration which have been detailed in my Secret Space Program Series, including Goode being the first to release two Defense Intelligence Reference Documents that corroborate key elements of his remarkable testimony.

Goode said that scientists from different space programs predicted the solar flash occurring at the end of Solar Cycle 24 (2008-2018/2019), and that this led to plans for the evacuation of global elites to safe places similar to what was depicted in the movie, 2012.

In an interview, Goode gave details about what he had been told during a December 2017 visit to a secret moon base called Lunar Operations Command [LOC] about multiple solar flash events that have been predicted by different groups and their timing:

I have said for a while that I was told that it was not one solar event but a series of events that led up to one large event. During my meeting on the LOC… I was told that the Elite had expected the final “solar sneeze” [solar flash] to occur at the end of this Solar Minimum period (2018/2019 from their estimates). “Are we officially in Solar Minimum?” was the question of one of the people present. To my dismay that question went unanswered as the people being briefed were paying very close attention to this particular topic.

The Elite began moving underground in large numbers based on this probable timeline. The “Programs” had used probable future technology to nail down the time of Alien and Suppressed Technology Disclosure and The Solar Event. None of them agreed on what the Solar Event would be as many thought it would be a flash that would turn them into ascended light beings while others expected it to be a terrible day for the planet Earth…. The “Egg Heads” and the Smart Glass Pads described all of this occurring in the 2018-2023/24 time window.

Goode said that he also received information from another source, the Anshar, who claim to be the descendants of time travelers from our future. This meant that their ancestors had lived through the upcoming solar flash event(s) and passed down its effects through historical records, which were carried into the Earth’s distant past by the Anshar to maintain the current timeline. Goode explains what the Anshar had told him:

The flashes (not necessarily all flashes are visible) that have been occurring will build up to one large solar event. The Anshar described a major Solar Event in their past (Our Future?) that was very much like the “full circumference mass coronal ejection” that I described being one of the scientific theories about the Solar Event.

They described the solar blast being so powerful that it caused a physical pole shift on the Earth of several degrees. They described the atmosphere being breached by the CME [Coronal Mass Ejection] in the Northern Hemisphere which caused massive fires that wipe out a large area and in doing so knocks out all technology on the planet. There was a fair amount of loss of life in the actual event.

Goode’s information is very helpful since it provides intelligence data from secret space program scientists and Inner Earth beings who are monitoring solar activity, and are also aware of records detailing solar flashes or micronova from Earth’s history. This complements the scientific data compiled by Davidson which substantiates micronovas as a recurring phenomenon for many stars in our galaxy, including our own sun.

This take us to another key element of Davidson’s Earth Catastrophe Cycle series, which Goode’s classified sources provide complementary information. This concerns the predicted micronova or solar flash being a trigger for a geophysical pole shift that could be catastrophic for many regions of the planet.

Massive Pole Shifts are Cyclic according to Declassified CIA Document - PART II

Ben Davidson, founder of Space Weather News, began his six part Earth Catastrophe Cycle video series by discussing a 57 page booklet called “The Adam and Eve Story” authored by “Chan Thomas”, which was classified by the CIA at some point after its 1963 publication, and declassified in part on June 24, 2013 with the release of a sanitized digital version on the CIA’s website. Thomas’ analysis of cyclic pole shifts was different in key respects to what was being proposed at the time by Charles Hapgood in his seminal book, The Earth’s Shifting Crust(1958).

According to Davidson, it was Thomas more accurate explanation for how a pole shift happens, which led to the CIA classifying Thomas’ book.  The Adam and Eve Story was first published in 1963 by Emerson House, with a third edition published in 1965, and then republished by Bengal Tiger Press in 1993. It is not clear when, why and how the CIA classified Thomas book, but the fact that the CIA chose to release a declassified sanitized version in 2013 is very significant.

In part 1 of his video series, Davidson contrasts Hapgood’s wandering pole hypothesis with the pole shift described in the CIA suppressed book by Thomas. Hapgood wrote of a pole shift of up to 40 degrees that could recur every 5000 years or so in The Earth’s Shifting Crust where earlier geographical poles would wander on the Earth’s surface with each crustal displacement.

Instead, Thomas wrote of a massive shift of almost 90 degrees  that would move both poles into the tropics in less than a day, and then back to their earlier polar positions after the next cycle:

In ¼ to ½ a day the poles move almost to the equator, and all hell lets loose. The atmosphere and oceans don’t shift with the shell – they just keep on rotating West to East – and at the equator that speed is 1000 miles per hour. It has to be, normally, to make one rotation per day. So, while the shell shifts with the poles going toward the equator, the winds and oceans go eastward, blowing across the face of the earth with supersonic speeds, inundating continents with water miles deep….

You can see, then,  that ice ages are not a matter of advancing and retreating ice; it’s simply that different areas of the Earth are in polar regions at different times, for different durations of time, with the changes between positions taking place in a fraction of a day. [The Adam and Eve Story, pp.13-14]

Thomas provided a table illustrating how the North pole, for example, would switch back and forth between northern hemisphere regions after experiencing close to a 90 degree tilt.

It is Thomas’ conclusion of cyclic pole shifts of almost 90 degrees that flip the poles back and forth over millennia that Davidson identified as the key reason the CIA classified Thomas’ work. If the North and South poles flipped back and forth 90 degrees, there would be little evidence of previous pole shifts since these would be buried under thick layers of ice.

This takes us to the science of paleomagnetics – the study of the record of the Earth’s magnetic field in rocks, minerals or archeological materials – which has been used to determine the historic movement of the Earth’s magnetic poles.

Davidson cited a number of scholarly articles which studied paleomagnetic data from volcanic hotspots. A highly regarded 1985 paleomagnetic study titled, “True polar wander: An analysis of Cenozoic and Mesozoic paleomagnetic poles” found “the pole has moved 22 deg + or 10 deg in the past 180 m.y.[million years].” This was far less than the 40 degree wandering pole hypothesis that Hapgood proposed in an approximate 5000 year period.

A subsequent 2001 study titled  “Stability of the Earth with respect to the spin axis for the last 130 million years” concluded that “the time-averaged position of the spin axis has deviated by no more than ˜5° over the last 130 million yr, indicating that mantle mass heterogeneities have not changed rapidly enough to drive TPW [True Polar Wander].” Davidson cited these and a 2018 study as the key elements of the body of scientific evidence refuting Hapgood’s wandering pole hypothesis.

However, as Davidson pointed out, the scientific data from paleomagnetic studies did not address Thomas’ theory of the poles flipping back and forth over geologic time, thereby giving the appearance that the poles had not moved over millions of years as researchers had mistakenly concluded:

All work crushing the theory utilizes these flawed studies, especially the long term average pole position and none address the problem of a ping pong shift where you would have that time average pole position appearing to be in the same position over millions of years.  

Davidson goes as far as suggesting that Hapgood, who worked for the CIA’s predecessor the Office of Strategic Services during World War II, conducted a “limited hangout” with his 1958 book to get some of the truth out into the public arena, but doing so in a way that could be eventually discredited. 

Davidson cited a 1994 book titled World in Peril about the once classified information provided by an Arctic polar explorer, Major Maynard White, who told his son, Ken (the book’s author), about secret Pentagon meetings in 1948 where suppression of evidence of cyclic pole shifts was discussed:

At one of the scientific meetings that Major White attended in the Pentagon in early 1948, the scientists discussed the advisability of alerting the public to the pending polar-flip phenomenon. None of the scientist would agree to withhold the information from the public, but, on the other hand, neither could they agree on how to release it. The knowledge of this phenomenon, some felt, could in itself destroy the moral fiber of society. Their fears were apparently unfounded when, in the early 1950s, information about the flip phenomenon was released in both a newspaper column and a magazine article, but surprisingly generated no responses from an apparently stunned parochial or incredulous public.

Given the amount of scientific data presented by Davidson in his Earth Catastrophe Cycle series, it’s clear that physical pole shifts of approximately 90 degrees have been historically recorded, and that this became known to government authorities as early as 1948.

This takes us to the critical question: “What is the trigger for a geophysical pole shift?”

Hapgood, along with Albert Einstein, who wrote the preface to Hapgood’s 1958 book, believed that the accumulation of ice at the North and South poles would be the trigger for a crustal displacement (geophysical pole shift). Einstein explained the triggering mechanism as follows:

In a polar region there is continual deposition of ice, which is not symmetrically distributed about the pole. The earth’s rotation acts on these unsymmetrically deposited masses, and produces centrifugal momentum that is transmitted to the rigid crust of the earth. The constantly increasing centrifugal momentum produced in this way will, when it has reached a certain point, produce a movement of the earth’s crust over the rest of the earth’s body, and this will displace the polar regions toward the equator.

Davidson asserts in part 1 of his series that Einstein eventually broke with Hapgood when he realized that the amount of ice at the poles would be insufficient to trigger a crustal displacement as he had earlier concluded from Hapgood’s data.

In contrast to Hapgood, Thomas believed the explanation was that something in the Earth’s interior was occurring that was the triggering mechanism. Thomas wrote:

… once every few thousand years neutral matter escapes from the 860-mile [1385 km] radius inner core into the 1300-mile [2092 km] thick molten outer core, and there is a literal atomic explosion inside the Earth. The explosion in the high energy layer of the outer core disrupts completely the electrical and magnetic structure in both the molten outer core and the outer 60-mile thick molten layer. Finally, the ice caps are allowed to pull the shell of the earth around the interior, with the shallow molten layers lubricating the shift all the way. [The Adam and Eve Story, p.14]

Thomas likens the “neutral matter” escaping Earth’s inner core to the plasma in a solar burst since these are based on what he claimed was the same governing universal principle found in the atom and galaxies. Consequently, Thomas is suggesting that the triggering mechanism for the sun emitting a solar flash or micronova, is similar to what triggers the Earth’s inner core to release waves of energy that ultimately shift both the magnetic and physical poles by as much as 90 degrees, in a cyclic pattern.

In World in Peril, the triggering mechanism is described as a flip in the Earth’s magnetic field as cited by Davidson:

It was determined through repeated experimentation that as the “magnetic pole approached the “geographic pole, the “magnetic” pole would at some point accelerate its rate of convergence as though pulled toward the “geographic” pole by centripetal force and jump to coincide; but instead of the poles coinciding, the “magnetic” pole would rapidly “flip” around the “geographic” pole, them spin off towards the equator as though by centrifugal force, ending up at a position where the two axes assumed an approximate 89-degree divergence. After this polar “flip” occurred, the axes would then gradually begin to reconverge over a long period of time.

According to the classified information received by Major White and his USAF Arctic reconnaissance unit, the magnetic pole flip would be the trigger for a crustal displacement leading to an almost 90 degree geophysical pole shift, as explained in the description to the World in Peril:

World in Peril … provides an explanation, based on the unit’s findings, of how Pentagon scientists determined our globe has evolved in prehistory, and how another earth-reshaping cataclysm is imminent!  Now we can understand why mammoths and mastodons found in the arctic permafrost had been instantaneously frozen with subtropical vegetation in their mouths and stomachs.  World in Peril may be the only book in print that accurately explains the elusive triggering mechanism for the phenomena known to scientists for over 200 years as “crustal shift,” and what it implies. 

It’s important to emphasize the complementary nature of the triggering mechanisms found in Thomas’ The Adam and Eve Story and White’s information in World in Peril.

White essentially described an internal geological process by which a magnetic pole flip would lead to a crustal displacement so the two sets of poles (magnetic and geophysical) would briefly realign at opposite ends of the equator. The magnetic poles would then gradually realign with the new geophysical North and South poles until the cycle repeated itself with the former geophysical poles flipping back to their former positions.

Some unknown event inside the Earth would trigger both the magnetic pole flip and the crustal displacement according to the information acquired by White, and had been suppressed by national security officials.

Thomas’ book explains the internal mechanism which triggers the pole shifts. The neutral matter he described is basically the functional equivalent of a micronova or solar flare being emitted by the Earth’s inner core. Consequently, any evidence of the Earth’s interior generating something analogous to increased solar activity is an important clue to a pole shift occurring in the near future.

Davidson’s six part series makes a cogent case for a connection between cyclic micronovas and historic pole shifts of almost 90 degrees, which occur in a back and forth flipping action making it appear that the present poles have been in their respective positions for millions of years, as paleomagnetic studies have mistakenly concluded.

Furthermore, his emphasis on the information proposed by Thomas and White as crustal displacement being triggered by internal geological events, rather than external events such as accumulation of ice at the poles, leads to a correct focus on something happening inside Earth’s molten core.

The historic data and analyses presented by Davidson point to something simultaneously triggering eruptions of “neutral matter” from the inner Earth core, and from the sun in the form of micronovas. This takes us finally to the role played by cosmic rays as the elusive trigger mechanism, and recent scientific data showing these recently emerging out of Antarctica and a possible connection to mysterious global seismic waves.

On January 11, one of the world’s top science journals, Nature, reported an unexpected acceleration in the movement of the Earth’s magnetic poles that has required an immediate update of the World Magnetic Model used for global navigation by ships at sea, Google Maps and smartphones. Scientists have speculated that the unexpected acceleration is due to “liquid iron sloshing within the planet’s core”, and that in the case of the north magnetic pole, the likely culprit was a “high-speed jet of liquid iron beneath Canada moving the pole towards Siberia”.

Importantly, scientists widely agree that the acceleration in the movement of the magnetic poles points to something very unusual happening in the Earth’s outer core which is filled with a nickel-iron alloy surrounding a solid inner core of iron. In part 2 of this series of articles investigating issues raised by Ben Davidson in his Earth Catastrophe Cycle video series, I discussed a CIA document authored by a geologist, Chan Thomas, that was only declassified in 2013. Thomas hypothesized that the inner core of the Earth, behaves just like a star in terms of emitting plasma or “neutral matter” in periodic bursts every few thousand years into the outer core, thereby triggering both magnetic and geophysical pole shifts.

In part 1, I examined evidence of solar flash (aka micronova) events in history, and the prospects for one recurring in the near future. This raises the possibility of the connection of some kind between solar flash events and “neutral matter” eruptions that occur deep inside the Earth’s core. In this article, I examine whether high energy cosmic rays from outside our solar system are the trigger mechanism for both solar flashes and neutral matter eruptions that lead to pole shifts.

It’s important to first point out that the accelerated movement of the magnetic poles is happening at a time when the Earth’s magnetic field is weakening and the Solar Minimum (low sunspot activity) have both made the planet more susceptible than ever to cosmic rays.

Cosmic rays are the atomic nuclei of hydrogen, helium and larger molecules that have been stripped of their electrons. They have been generated from galactic events such as supernova and quasars, and travel throughout the universe at almost the speed of light.

While our sun also generates cosmic rays, it is the cosmic rays from the galactic core that carry the most energy as they penetrate deep into our solar system, into our sun, and finally into the Earth’s interior.

Cosmic rays are impacting both the Earth and the sun with increasing impact because the energy shield created by the solar wind is at its weakest level as a result of the current solar minimum. Some scientific models predict the solar minimum will continue until October 2020, and may even stretch out into a grand solar minimum lasting until 2070, during which time humanity witnesses a mini-ice age similar to the Maunder Minimum that occurred from 1645 to 1715.

Scientists have for decades tracked solar and cosmic ray activity and confirmed that cosmic rays peak during solar minima as shown in the following diagram.

The intensity of cosmic rays impacting our solar system and the Earth depends largely on the strength of the solar wind generated by our sun which acts as a shield as explained by NASA:

Our first line of defense is the sun: The sun’s magnetic field and solar wind combine to create a porous ‘shield’ that fends off cosmic rays attempting to enter the solar system. The shielding action of the sun is strongest during Solar Maximum and weakest during Solar Minimum.

NASA studies have confirmed that cosmic rays, during a solar minimum increase the radiation exposure of astronauts thereby shortening the time they can spend in Earth orbit.

It is worth emphasizing that cosmic rays typically are either deflected by the Earth’s magnetic field (magnetic field) or attracted by the field towards the polar regions where most of the world’s cosmic ray detectors have been assembed.

Studies have shown the Earth’s magnetic field, which acts as the second line of defense against cosmic rays, as well as being a shield against the solar wind, has been steadily weakening throughout the 20^th century. Since the year 2000, however, the weakening has dramatically increased as illustrated in the following image provided by Davidson in his Earth Catastrophe Cycle series.

The weakening of the magnetic field has led to some scientists concluding that this is a prelude to a magnetic pole flip.

In 2014 Rune Florberghagen, the mission manager of the European Space Agency’s Swarm project, confirmed that the Earth’s magnetic field was weakening 10 times faster than normal, and that this was a sign of a future magnetic pole flip.  Florberghagen said that this “would take many hundred if not a few thousand years…. They have happened many times in the past.”

However, other scientists studying paleomagnetic data cut the time dramatically in Florberghagen’s estimate. A Berkeley University study said that the pole flip could happen in less than a century, anytime during our life-time.

The dramatic weakening of the magnetic field means that fewer cosmic rays are being deflected, and more of these have been absorbed into the Earth, especially at the polar regions where the magnetic field lines attract cosmic rays into the North and South magnetic poles.

This raises important questions about what scientists have recently discovered about the unexpected acceleration in the movement of the magnetic poles, and what we know about the increasing influence of cosmic rays during a solar minimum that may extend well beyond the projected 2020 start of solar cycle 25.

First, are cosmic rays entering the Earth’s magnetic field at the polar regions penetrating deep into the Earth’s interior, thereby impacting the molten outer core in some way? Second, were cosmic rays recently detected coming out of Antarctica, in any way related to the “neutral matter” eruptions described by Chad Thomas? Finally, were the mysterious seismic global waves detected on November 11, 2018, in any way related to neutral matter eruptions from the core, and/or cosmic rays? 

Are Cosmic Rays Affecting the Earth’s Interior?

The widespread assumption about cosmic rays is that these are absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere as they impact air molecules, which in turn are rapidly accelerated and impact other molecules in cascade effect as the following diagram illustrates.

Several studies have shown, for example, that cosmic rays impact cloud formation leading to greater cloud covers during solar minima.  

While the energy of cosmic rays is absorbed by other particles when they collide in the Earth’s atmosphere, these “cascade particles” take on the momentum and energy of the cosmic rays and reach the Earth’s surface, and along with surviving cosmic rays, penetrate into the Earth’s crust extending the cascade effect deep into the earth’s mantle and eventually reaching the core.

Sub-atomic particles which are created as a byproduct of the collision of cosmic rays and air molecules, such as muons and neutrinos, more easily penetrate into the Earth’s mantle and core due to their smaller cross section.

The impact of cosmic rays through their cascading effect can be visualized as a shotgun blast that carries the energy of the primary cosmic rays deep into the Earth’s interior through “cascade particles” and their sub-atomic byproducts.

The penetration of cosmic rays into the Earth’s surface has had the effect of triggering seismic activity and volcanic eruptions, as confirmed by a team of four Japanese scientists. In a June 2011 study of 11 volcanic eruptions titled “Explosive volcanic eruptions triggered by cosmic rays”, the scientists found that cosmic rays were a factor in triggering nine of the eruptions:

It is well known that the cosmic-ray flux is negatively correlated with solar magnetic activity, as the strong magnetic field in the solar wind repels charged particles such as galactic cosmic rays that originate from outside of the solar system. The strong negative correlation observed between the timing of silica-rich eruptions and solar activity can be explained by variations in cosmic-ray flux arising from solar modulation.

The Japanese study confirms that cosmic rays, through their cascade effect, do have an influence inside the Earth’s interior. The critical question is: “how deep into the Earth’s interior do cosmic rays penetrate?”

Studies show that the energy transmitted by cosmic rays can be carried deep into the Earth’s interior:

During solar minimum high energy cosmic radiation can penetrate to a very deep distance below the Earth’s surface, in some case a few hundred kilometers. This is the reason why most if not all earthquakes during solar minimum are deep earthquakes.

This takes me back to Chan Thomas and his claim that the Earth’s core periodically releases “neutral matter” every few thousand years, and that the sun experiences a solar flash in a similar millennia long cycle. Cosmic rays have the capacity to not only interact with the sun in a way that ultimately triggers a micronova, but they also interact with the Earth’s core in a way that triggers the emission of “neutral matter” as Thomas’ book claims.

If the Earth’s core is being stimulated by cosmic rays into emitting neutral matter in analogous manner to a Coronal Mass Ejection by the sun, is there any evidence of this occurring? The most compelling sign would be if the Earth’s core, like the sun, was observed to be emitting cosmic rays. Indeed, this has occurred with cosmic ray detectors discovering cosmic rays coming out of the Earth, rather than penetrating into it.

Cosmic rays observed to be coming out of Antarctica were first detected in January 2007 when the Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA) balloon experiment began, as explained by the science writer, Emma Fiala:

Using sensors, ANITA began detecting high energy neutrinos interacting with the ice sheet below….During ANITA’s time in the Antarctic, it detected never before seen “upward-pointing cosmic-ray-like events.” The rays detected had horizontal planes of polarization, which may suggest they didn’t originate in space.

Cosmic rays coming out of the Antarctic ice sheets were observed again by ANITA in December 2016 and sparked intense scientific speculation over whether a new type of particle had been discovered. This led to a team of scientists at Penn State University studying the ANITA data, and on September 25, 2018, releasing released their report about the anomalous 2007 and 2016 events which was published on the scholarly archive, arxiv.org:

The ANITA collaboration have reported observation of two anomalous events that appear to be εcr≈0.6 EeV cosmic ray showers emerging from the Earth with exit angles of 27∘ and 35∘, respectively…. We explore here whether “beyond the Standard Model” (BSM) particles are required to explain the ANITA events, if correctly interpreted, and conclude that they are. Seeking confirmation or refutation of the physical phenomenon of sub-EeV Earth-emergent cosmic rays in data from other facilities, we find support for the reality of the ANITA events, and three candidate analog events, among the Extremely High Energy Northern Track neutrinos of the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

It should be noted that on both January 2007 and December 2016, the sunspot numbers were respectively at or near the solar minimum for sunspot activity. Consequently, it should be noted that at the same time as cosmic rays were peaking as they were coming into our solar system due to minimal solar activity, that Cosmic-like rays were observed to be coming out of the Earth.

This is consistent with the earlier observation that cosmic rays were penetrating deep into the Earth and triggering the neutral matter ejections into the outer core, which in turn stimulated what might be described as “Earth cosmic rays” that were detected by ANITA.

This takes me to the mysterious seismic global wave detected on November 11, 2018, 15 miles off the coast of Mayotte, a French island between Madagascar and Africa. On that day, a seismic wave was detected that travelled around the world for about 20 minutes. While seismic waves routinely follow earthquakes, there was no earthquake detected by seismographs as explained in an article published by National Geographic.

Based on the earlier cited 2011 study by Japanese scientists one explanation that arises is that the global seismic wave was caused by cosmic waves penetrating into the Earth’s interior. Another, more disturbing explanation is that the mysterious global seismic waves were a result of unique “Earth cosmic rays” emanating from a neutral matter ejection analogous to a coronal mass ejection first described by Thomas.

Conclusion

The accelerated movement of the magnetic poles is a sign that something significant is currently happening deep inside the Earth’s interior, at its molten outer core. The conventional explanation that this pole shift is merely a result of magma moving in the outer core portion under North America does not factor in the important role played by cosmic waves in penetrating deep into the Earth and influencing the core’s activity.

The fact that cosmic rays are pouring into the Earth due to a weakened magnetic field and solar minimum, and this may be triggering an ejection of neutral matter from the Earth’s core into the mantle and surface, needs be seriously considered. Furthermore, the fact that the CIA classified Thomas’ book some time after its 1963 publication and only declassified it in 2013, suggests that his concepts and theory of the dynamics of the inner Earth and associated pole shifts needed to be suppressed since they contained important truths that could destabilize society.

At this time in our collective history, as cosmic rays are impacting our planet at increasing levels, we need to better understand how cosmic rays influence both our planet and the sun during its period of minimal solar activity. We need to pay particular attention to evidence that our solar system has entered a region of the galaxy with increased levels of cosmic ray energy, and how this might trigger the solar flashes (micronovas) and geophysical pole shifts that occurred in our distant past.

We komen steeds meer over dit bijzondere kuipergordelobject te weten.

Ruimtevaartuig New Horizons trakteert ons op een nieuwe foto van het mysterieuze kuipergordelobject Ultima Thule. De foto is gemaakt op slechts zeven minuten vóór de dichtstbijzijnde benadering met de Multicolor Visible Imaging Camera (MVIC) aan boord van de ruimtesonde. New Horizons was op dat moment slechts 6700 kilometer van het object verwijderd.

Het origineel
De originele kwaliteit van de foto liet wat te wensen over. Zo sloeg de ruimtesonde het plaatje op met een resolutie van 135 meter per pixel. Wetenschappers hebben de foto vervolgens heel wat zitten bijschaven. Maar het is ze gelukt om de foto te verscherpen, zodat fijne details zichtbaar werden. En het resultaat mag er zijn. Zo is de foto de scherpste en duidelijkste weergave van het object – dat zich in een verre uithoek van ons zonnestelsel bevindt – tot nu toe.

Putjes
Wat opvalt op de foto zijn de talloze kleine putjes die zich nabij de top langs de dag/nacht grens van het object bevinden. Deze zijn naar schattig zo’n 700 meter groot. Daarnaast lijkt er op de kleinste van de twee bollen – Thule – ook een diepe put te zitten. De onderzoekers zijn er nog niet uit of deze putten inslagkrater zijn, of oppervlaktekenmerken die voortkomen uit andere processen.

Helder
Ook de weerkaatsing van zonlicht trekt de aandacht. Zo zijn er op beide bollen zowel lichte, als donkere plekken te zien. Hoewel we hier de oorsprong nog niet van weten, denken de onderzoekers dat deze aanwijzingen kunnen geven over waar het object – toen ons zonnestelsel zo’n 4,5 miljard jaar geleden gevormd werd – uit ontstond. Wat voornamelijk opvalt is de heldere nek van Ultima Thule, dus de plek waar het kleine en grote deel van Ultima Thule aan elkaar vastgeklonken zitten.

New Horizons raast op dit moment met zo’n 50.700 kilometer per uur door de Kuipergordel en is ongeveer 6,6 miljard kilometer van de aarde verwijderd. Een radiosignaal dat de ruimtesonde op deze afstand uitzendt, bereikt onze planeet ongeveer zes uur en negen minuten later.

“Deze nieuwe foto verschaft ons nieuwe informatie over het geologische karakter van de twee bollen, maar het roept ook weer nieuwe vragen op,” zegt onderzoeksleider Alan Stern. “In de loop van de maand zullen er nieuwe beelden met nog betere resoluties en kleuren worden vervaardigd, waarvan we hopen dat ze de vele mysteries van Ultima Thule helpen ontrafelen.”

Astronauten treffen ’s werelds oudste steen aan op de… maan!

De aardse steen zat verstopt tussen maanmonsters die astronauten van de Apollo 14 missie 48 jaar geleden verzamelden.

Toen astronauten van de bekende Apollo missie bijna vijftig jaar geleden maanmonsters mee terug naar huis namen, hadden ze waarschijnlijk geen idee dat ze een stukje aarde met de aarde herenigden. Een internationaal team van onderzoekers heeft bewijs gevonden dat tussen die maanmonsters ’s werelds oudste steen verstopt zat. Maar hoe is die steen op de maan terecht gekomen?

Op deze afbeelding is te zien hoe de steen op de maan terecht is gekomen. De steen is op aarde gevormd en is tijdens een planetoïde inslag de ruimte in geworpen.

Hoe dan?
Waarschijnlijk is dat de schuld van een komeet of planetoïde die miljarden jaren terug insloeg op aarde. Door deze klap werd er aards materiaal opgerakeld en de ruimte ingeslingerd, waar het 4 miljard jaar terug botste met het oppervlak van de maan – die destijds drie keer dichter bij de aarde stond dan nu. “Het is een buitengewone vondst die helpt een beter beeld te schetsen van de vroege aarde,” zegt hoofdonderzoeker David Kring.

De steen
De onderzoekers komen met meerdere redenen op de proppen waarom dit stukje steen toch echt van de aarde afkomstig is. De steen is een klein fragment van slechts 2 gram dat bestaat uit kwarts, veldspaat en zirkoon. Allemaal mineralen die veel voorkomen op aarde, maar heel ongewoon zijn voor het maanlandschap. Uit een chemische analyse blijkt verder dat het stukje steen gevormd is bij aardse temperaturen in een aardachtige omgeving met zuurstof. Vervolgens kristalliseerde de steen tijdens de jonge jaren van de aarde zo’n 20 kilometer onder het aardoppervlak. Een komeet of planetoïde zorgde er vervolgens voor dat de steen naar het oppervlak verhuisde. Zo konden toenmalige planetoïden kraters maken met een diameter van duizenden kilometers; voldoende om materiaal uit de diepten naar het oppervlak te brengen.

Naar de maan
Eenmaal op het maanoppervlak aangekomen, mengde de steen zich met ander materiaal. Daarnaast kwamen er weer nieuwe processen op gang; zo denken de onderzoekers dat de steen zo’n 3,9 miljard jaar geleden gedeeltelijk smolt en – opnieuw – onder het oppervlak werd begraven. Tot 26 miljoen jaar geleden, toen een planetoïde de Cone-krater vormde. Hierdoor kwam de steen weer terug aan het oppervlak te liggen, waar astronauten het 48 jaar geleden opraapten.

Of het bij één steentje blijft? Kring denkt van niet. Hij vermoedt dat er nog wel meer aardse stenen op het maanoppervlak te vinden zijn. Dat zou aanvullend onderzoek moeten gaan uitwijzen.

Saturn’s largest moon Titan has often been compared to Earth. Its seas, lakes and rivers are very reminiscent of ones on our own planet, albeit composed of liquid methane/ethane instead of water. The visual similarity, however, is striking. And there’s also another weather-related similarity between Earth and Titan – rain.

The Cassini mission, now ended, had found previous evidence for methane rain on Titan, and now a new study, led by Rajani Dhingra, a doctoral student in physics at the University of Idaho, provides more insight into rainfall at Titan’s north pole and how that relates to the start of this distant moon’s summer season.  The peer-reviewedstudy has been accepted for publication in Geophysical Research Letters.

Cassini arrived in the Saturnian system in the southern summer of 2004. As expected, the Cassini team observed cloud cover, storms and precipitation on the south pole. Like Earth, Titan has an axial tilt (27 degrees) and its seasons vary over its year (30 Earth years). Ever since this shift in season began, the Cassini team eagerly waited for observations indicating cloud cover and precipitation that went missing from the northern latitudes. Our rainfall observation at the north pole is a major finding for two important reasons. Firstly, this discovery observation heralds the much awaited arrival of the north polar summer rainstorms on Titan. This atmospheric phenomenon has been delayed compared to the theoretical predictions and was perplexing Titan researchers and climate modelers especially because the north pole hosts most of Titan’s lakes and seas. Secondly, it is extremely difficult to detect rainfall events on Titan due to its thick atmospheric haze and very limited opportunities to view the surface (and its changes). We have used a novel phenomenon – the smoothening of a previously dry, rough surface by a thin layer of fluid after rainfall, similar to a wet side walk – as evidence for rainfall events on the surface of Titan.

The rainfall and associated clouds had been anticipated for some time by scientists, but weren’t seen, according to Dhingra:

The whole Titan community has been looking forward to seeing clouds and rains on Titan’s north pole, indicating the start of the northern summer, but despite what the climate models had predicted, we weren’t even seeing any clouds. People called it the curious case of missing clouds.

So where was the rain? Even the Huygens probe – part of the Cassini mission – which landed on Titan in 2005, found “damp sand” reminiscent of crème brûlée in what was thought to be a mostly dry riverbed that periodically flows with liquid methane. As on Earth, those rivers are fed by rainfall.

The research team took a closer look and found something intriguing – a reflective feature near Titan’s north pole on an image taken on June 7, 2016, by Cassini’s near-infrared instrument, the Visual and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer. Covering approximately 46,332 square miles (119,999 square km), the feature was not seen in previous or subsequent images.

Analysis indicated it was similar to a sunlit wet sidewalk, the scientists said, that is, that it, it was wet ground following a methane rainfall event, followed in turn by a period of evaporation. Scientists could even discern what kind of surface was wet; they said it was pebble-like. As Dhingra had explained, a rougher surface generates an amorphous pattern as the liquid settles in crevasses and gullies, while liquid on a smooth surface would puddle in a relatively circular pattern.

This is the first time that summer rainfall has been observed in the northern hemisphere of Titan, showing the changing of the seasons. But seasons last a lot longer on Titan than on Earth – about seven years each. Cassini had also observed clouds and rainfall in Titan’s southern hemisphere after it arrived at Saturn in 2004. The climate models had predicted that rainfall would arrive in the northern hemisphere by summer 2017, but by 2016, there were still no clouds to be seen. According to Dhingra:

We want our model predictions to match our observations. This rainfall detection proves Cassini’s climate follows the theoretical climate models we know of. Summer is happening. It was delayed, but it’s happening. We will have to figure out what caused the delay, though.

Titan is the only other body in the solar system known to have liquid seas, lakes and rivers on its surface. Even though it is extremely cold and the liquid is methane/ethane, not water, some scientists think it is possible that some form of primitive life could exist there. There is also a liquid water ocean deep below the surface that couldbe potentially habitable by life.

Bottom line: Titan is a bizarre world – eerily similar to Earth in some ways, yet utterly alien at the same time. The new study of Titan’s rainfall patterns provides more insight into how this moon mimics Earth but remains a strangely very different place at the same time.

How Roswell, New Mexico Gained Its Alien Reputation

The CW's new series Roswell, New Mexico has an extraterrestrial romance at its heart and nods to real UFO lore.

Attractive humanoid aliens will soon be embroiled in romance and adventure on The CW’s new series Roswell, New Mexico. In an early scene from the show’s new trailer, a Jeep drives under a sign in the desert that reads “Foster Ranch” just before an object from the air crashes into the ground causing a huge explosion. But what is the Foster Ranch, and how did Roswell get its alien reputation in the first place?

Roswell, New Mexico is a desert town about 200 miles southeast of Albuquerque. It is the fifth largest town in New Mexico, but much more provincial than Santa Fe, another well-known New Mexico destination similar in size. While visitors from around the world flock to Santa Fe to experience Southwestern art and culture, tourists seek out Roswell for a different reason: aliens.

Although the alleged crash of an alien spacecraft outside of Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 is the most famous UFO or alien related incident, few knew about it before the first book on the topic, The Roswell Incident, was published in 1980. By July 1997, the 50th anniversary of the crash, the U.S. Air Force had released two separate reports on the Roswell incident (1995 report, 1997 report), and it was featured on the cover of Time magazine. The story of aliens at Roswell had reached the farthest corners of planet Earth.

The incident described by the Air Force began on the Foster ranch about 30 miles outside of Roswell. Ranch foreman Bill “Mack” Brazel claims to have come across odd-looking debris in the field some time in June or early July 1947. He and his son examined the debris but didn’t pay it much attention until Brazel heard stories of mysterious flying discs spotted in the skies elsewhere in the U.S. The most famous of these sightings took place on June 24, 1947, when businessman and amateur pilot Kenneth Arnold spotted several objects described by the press as “flying saucers” -- the first use of the term -- while flying near Mount Rainier, Washington. Arnold’s sighting made headlines and eventually prompted the United States military to begin official investigations into sightings of unidentified objects in the skies.

Brazel thought the debris he found might be one of these flying saucers and reported it to Chaves County Sheriff George Wilcox. Wilcox then reported Brazel’s discovery to the Roswell Army Airfield (RAAF), home of the 509th Bomb Group, at the time, the only team responsible for dropping the atom bomb.

The RAAF sent intelligence officer Major Jesse Marcel and counterintelligence corps officer Captain Sheridan Cavitt to meet with Brazel and drive out to the Foster ranch and take a look at the debris. The next day, July 8, the RAAF sent out a press release claiming, according to the Roswell Daily Record, that they had “come into possession of a flying saucer.” That day the Roswell Daily Record front page headline read: “RAAF Captures Flying Saucer On Ranch in Roswell Region.”

The next day, the Roswell Daily Record’s headline read: “Gen. Ramey Empties Roswell Saucer.” The subheadings read: “Ramey Says Excitement Is Not Justified,” and “General Ramey Says Disk Is Weather Balloon.” The same day, Ramey held a press conference at his office in Fort Worth, Texas with Marcel in which they posed with debris from a weather balloon. With that, as quickly as the story began, it went away.

The Arnold sighing in Washington had inspired the creation of U.S. Air Force Project Sign, the first official investigation into “flying saucers.” It was followed by Project Grudge, and then finally Project Blue Book. The U.S. Air Force investigated the UFO phenomenon from 1948 to 1969, but nowhere in their files will you find mention of the crash outside of Roswell. Nor will you see it in UFO books of the time. Soon after it occurred, the story was lost to obscurity.

Then, in the late 1970s, UFO researcher and nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman was given a tip. A retired Air Force intelligence officer said he had been part of the recovery of a flying saucer. That officer was Marcel. Friedman interviewed Marcel who confirmed that he had seen the debris recovered in Roswell and that it was no weather balloon. He claimed the material had properties beyond that which would have been possible to create at the time and also claimed the debris he showed Ramey had been replaced by weather balloon material for the press conference and photo shoot.

In a 1980 interview on the television series In Search Of…, Marcel said General Ramey told the press, “forget about it. It was nothing more than a weather observation balloon. Of course, which we both knew differently.”

“It was not anything from this Earth,” Marcel said. “I am quite sure of, because being in intelligence I was familiar with just about all materials used in aircraft and/or air travel. This was nothing like that.”

Marcel claimed he was told to go with the weather balloon cover story and he followed orders. However, decades later he was concerned the Air Force had not shared the truth with the public.

Over the next few years, Friedman, along with his research partner William Moore, interviewed many more witnesses. Some of them claimed they also believed the material could not have been from a weather balloon. In 1980, Moore wrote a book with author Charles Berlitz titled The Roswell Incidentsuggesting a major cover-up of a crashed extraterrestrial vehicle. The book was a hit, and along with Marcel’s appearance on In Search Of... the legend of the alien spaceship crash at Roswell grew.

Due to the popularity of the Roswell incident, the U.S. Air Force released an official report in 1995 on the event that backs up one of Marcell’s claims. It confirms the materials Marcel provided were not that of a standard weather balloon like those in the press photos. However, it claimed the debris Marcel examined was part of a secret program called Project Mogul. This project used atmospheric balloons to float listening devices into the atmosphere to monitor Russian nuclear tests.

The first witness account of alien bodies did not come until 1989. Roswell resident Glenn Dennis claimed that while working at a local funeral home at the time of the alleged crash, the RAAF had requested several child-sized caskets. He told his story for the first time to Friedman, but his account was first made public in the book UFO Crash at Roswell published in 1991.

He also claimed to have had a conversation with a nurse from RAAF who told him she had been present at the autopsies of extraterrestrial beings recovered from the crashed saucer. Dennis said he had promised never to share her name. He says the nurse disappeared soon after sharing the story with him.

The aliens she described were not attractive young adults, but they were, more or less, shaped like humans with spindly arms and legs and large heads.

“She drew me a diagram of the bodies,” Dennis claimed in a signed affidavit. “...including an arm with a hand that had only four fingers; the doctors noted that on the end of the fingers were little pads resembling suction cups. She said the head was disproportionately large for the body; the eyes were deeply set; the skulls were flexible; the nose was concave with only two orifices; the mouth was a fine slit, and the doctors said there was heavy cartilage instead of teeth. The ears were only small orifices with flaps. They had no hair, and the skin was black--perhaps due to exposure in the sun.”

Dennis’ story has been called into question after he gave the name of the alleged RAAF nurse to researchers and later admitted the name was made up. He claimed he gave a false name because of his promise not to share her real name. Another reason skeptics doubt Dennis’ claims that he did not come forward until decades after the fact, and years after the Roswell incident was popularized. According to researchers Thom Carey and Dom Schmitt, several of his friends have come forward to say Dennis did share his story about the child-sized caskets soon after the Roswell incident occurred, although some claimed they thought he was joking. Carey and Schmitt included their accounts in the 2009 book Witness to Roswell.

Since then others have claimed to have seen aliens at Roswell, and there was even a famous video of the alleged autopsy of the Roswell aliens. However, the video was debunked, and the creators have admitted to having been paid to create the fake autopsy.

The most credible witness to claim aliens had crashed at Roswell was retired Army Colonel Philip Corso. He was a decorated officer with a long list of achievements in World War II. In his book, The Day After Roswell, published soon before his death, Corso claimed that in 1961, while serving as chief of the foreign technology department he was tasked with handling materials retrieved from the Roswell crash.

“I came into possession of what I refer to as the ‘Roswell File,’” Corso said. “This file contained field reports, medical autopsy reports and technological debris from the crash of an extraterrestrial vehicle in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.”

He says he farmed the material out to tech companies with U.S. Army contracts which went on to use the debris to develop technologies such as kevlar, night-vision, fiber optics, and computer chips, among others.

The companies Corso claims to have given the material to argue that the development of these technologies is well documented and do not include the use of extraterrestrial materials. Skeptics also point out that many of the witnesses to the alleged alien bodies only came forward after the Roswell incident was famous.

Whether or not aliens really crash landed in Roswell remains up for debate, but decades later the idea continues to inspire pop-culture and our ideas and dialogue regarding the potential for the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial civilizations. In a more cynical view, it can even be seen as enforcing trust issues between U.S. citizens and our government. It is a heavy burden for a small town in the middle of the New Mexico desert. Although, we shouldn’t feel too sorry for their unsought fame. If it wasn’t for the aliens, Roswell’s fame would be tied to being one of the first homes of the planes tasked with dropping the deadliest weapon known to humankind. Personally, I'd rather be known for aliens.

Orson Welles’ 1939 radio play adaptation of H.G. Wells’ alien invasion classic, The War of the Worlds, is the stuff of entertainment legend.

The hour-long program for The Mercury Theatre on the Air on the CBS radio network was nothing if not innovative. Welles designed the narrative to play out as a series of breaking news bulletins that interrupted the typical evening programming. Authoritative-sounding news men described the events of the novel as though they were happening in the moment. The trustworthy voices described an unidentified flying object crash on a farm in Grover’s Mill, New Jersey. The newsmen described police and various onlookers as they witness that cylindrical object open, Martians emerge, and start killing people with a heat ray.

Despite a clear disclaimer that the radio show was a drama, plenty of radio listeners were unaware and flooded local newspapers and emergency services with frightened correspondence. The Trenton police department reported receiving 2,000 calls within two hours.

Modern historians and observers have since theorized that the extent of the public’s panic was overblown or perhaps even exaggerated by CBS or Welles himself. According to a C.E. Hooper survey of 5,000 households conducted the night of the broadcast, only two percent of homes even listened to The War of the Worlds.

Still, sometimes the legend is more important to understanding how we understand ourselves than the reality. We have always imagined that Orson Welles was such a titanically talented artist that he could summon a riot through a mere hour of good dramatic storytelling. Or perhaps even we imagine that those silly folk from 1938 were so gullible and uncultured so as to be fooled by radio waves. There’s no way that a more modern audience would be fooled like that.

Except that a more modern audience was fooled like that… at least twice, according to another fantastic hour of radio storytelling, Radiolab’s “War of the Worlds” episode. In 1949, Leonardo Paez, the director of art for Rádio Quito in Ecuador, wanted to try his own Spanish language radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds. 

On Saturday, February 12, 1949, Paez ran a version of the story designed more directly to trick the listener than Welles’ ever was. This time there was actual pandemonium. People took to the streets in a panic, which quickly changed to anger once they discovered they had been duped. An angry mob set the radio station on fire. Six people died in the inferno, including Paez’s girlfriend and nephew..

In 1968 Buffalo station WKBW tried out its own War of the Worlds broadcast. Buffalo police claim they received 4,000 frightened phone calls that night. 47 newspapers covered the story. The Canadian military even dispatched troops to the Peace Bridge, which connects Buffalo to Fort Erie, Ontario.

The story of The War of the Worlds, the H.G. Wells original and all of the various radio adaptation that followed it, isn’t just the story of artistic brilliance or human gullibility, though those both play are certainly part of it. The story behind The War of the Worlds and the reason for its longevity is that humanity is fascinated by aliens, UFOs, and the untold mysteries of the universe.

The War of the Worlds model of sci-fi storytelling keeps on popping up over and over again because aliens are some of the most complementary pieces possible in our storytelling. Aliens and the UFOs are the perfect combination of science and fiction. The scientific side of the human brain can appreciate that the universe is so big that there certainly must be other intelligent living beings within it. The fanciful, superstitious side of the human brain can imagine those beings living on Mars and wielding heat rays to destroy us all.

Not only that but if one of the basic tenets of storytelling is “us vs. them” who could possibly be a better “them” than the little humanoid creatures who live way, way, way, way, way out there?

Aliens and UFOs may seem a bit more en vogue now that The CW is launching its new series Roswell, New Mexico this month. The truth though is that aliens and UFOs never really went away. They are always there in the back of our subconscious waiting for the moment we need a particularly satisfying “them.”

With that in mind, here are five more alien invasion, abduction, and visitation pieces of pop culture that have debuted between Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds and The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico. Each one has something slightly different to say based on the era from which it comes but also something timeless about humanity’s relationship to the alien.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)

Jack Finney’s 1954 sci-fi novel, Invasion of the Body Snatchers can give H.G. Wells The War of the Worlds a run for its money in terms of influence. While The War of the Worlds led to many radio adaptations (and a pretty good mid-2000s Steven Spielberg movie), Invasion of the Body Snatchers led to three direct film adaptations, two of which are all-time classics.

The first, Don Siegel’s 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers, is perhaps the best. In the film, alien plant spores have fallen to Earth from space and have grown into large seedpods. Each pod will eventually create a replacement copy of each human on Earth. When fully developed, that pod will then “assimilate” the person nearest it.

Siegel’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers captures the theme of the novels brilliantly. If the classic alien story is “us vs. them,” Body Snatchers takes the “them” and turns them into “us.”

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind puts a fascinating twist on the classic alien invasion story. Whereas previous incarnations of aliens and UFOs have mostly wanted to dominate Earth and the humans who occupy it, the aliens of Spielberg’s film seem to want something more complex…and far less dangerous to humans.

Richard Dreyfuss stars as Roy Neary, an unassuming electrical lineman in Indiana who has a fateful encounter with a mysteriously celestial object one night and soon after becomes obsessed with UFOs. Before he knows it Roy is sculpting weird shapes out of mashed potatoes and dreaming about Devil’s Tower in Wyoming.

Truly a relic of the spiritual ‘70s, Close Encounters of the Third Kind leans hard on the supernatural, mystical nature of alien life. In that sense, the aliens of Spielberg’s Close Encounters aren’t that different our perception of God. They’re out there somewhere and they have answers for us. Pray that they share them.

Communion: A True Story (1987)

So much of the popular perceptions and myths surrounding alien abduction come from this 1987 book by Whitley Strieber. Strieber is an American writer best known for his horror novels The Wolfen and The Hunger. Communion, however, is purported to be non-fiction.

In Communion, Strieber describes his experience being abducted by aliens and there are plenty of familiar tropes. For one, Strieber experiences lost time and can only recover his memories of abduction via hypnosis. Through hypnosis, Strieber recalls being abducted from his cabin in New York state by humanoid alien beings. The aliens resemble what are now best known as “grays,” though Strieber compares them to the Sumerian goddess Ishtar. Communion would be adapted into a 1989 film of the same name starring Christopher Walken.

Communion and similar alien abduction stories of the ‘80s mark an important milestone in pop culture’s relationship to aliens. Rather than interacting with humanity on a grand scale like in The War of the Worlds, Body Snatchers, or Close Encounters, aliens are perfectly happy to deal with human beings on a one-to-one basis. Here the concept of communication starts to play an increasingly important role in stories of aliens and UFOs.

The X-Files (1993)

The X-Files was one of television’s first honest-to-goodness science fiction spectacles. Science fiction had always had a home on the smaller screen dating back to The Twilight Zone but Fox’s The X-Files proved that sci-fi could perform for mass audiences. Thanks, aliens!

The X-Files wasn’t purely about aliens and UFOs. Each of the shows nine seasons (eventually 11) featured FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully investigating all manner of paranormal phenomena. The show’s central mythology, however, was often reserved for exploring life outside of Earth.

The thing that made Fox Mulder a “believer” was the childhood abduction of his sister by aliens. Mulder would come to be abducted himself in the show’s seventh season. The aliens of The X-Files were in many ways continuations of the Close Encounter brand of aliens. These beings had answers to some questions that humanity simply didn’t.

Signs (2002)

M. Night Shyamalan’s third film, Signs, tackled another popular aspect of the alien phenomenon: crop circles. Crop circles are mysterious symbols that appear in farmers’ fields overnight. Upon their popular arrival in the ’70s, many posited that the symbols were created by and meant for aliens. After all, who would have greater need of messages etched onto the Earth’s surface than a UFO?

Of course, the original crop circles and pretty much all that sprung up after them were eventually revealed to be a hoax. That doesn’t stop Signs from asking the question: but what if they weren’t? In Signs, the Hess family in rural Pennsylvania must deal with the sudden appearance of a crop circle in one of their fields over night. Then the “signs” of an oncoming alien invasion begin to mount. Signs takes a very singular and humanist approach to the alien invasion trope. What matters more than the aliens and what they are trying to communicate is the Hess family and how they will deal the sudden encroachment of a higher power on their lives.

Fargo Season 2 (2015)

Fargo’s second season features one of the most recent pop culture iterations of UFOs but the show, itself is set in a far earlier, more alien-friendly era. Season 2 of Noah Hawley’s sort-of anthology series takes place in the upper Midwest in March, 1979 (just two years after Close Encounters of the Third Kind hit theaters).

The season follows Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson), a Minnesota State Patrol trooper who finds himself in over his head when local crime family the Gerhardts run afoul the Kansas City mob and set off a chain of violence that affects the organized crime world and genteel Minnesota communities as well. If that doesn’t sound like a particularly science fiction concept, that’s because it isn’t. Fargo Season 2 is as grounded as it comes…except for this one thing. Periodically throughout the season, a UFO just suddenly appears, casting a light down upon the fresh northern snow. Several times characters see the thing, and in one notable instance, Lou’s life is saved when the UFO appears, distracting would-be murderers.

The show never fully explains the UFO’s presence or why it’s there. The closest it comes to doing so is in the season’s fascinating final scene. Lou’s wife, Betsy approaches her father Hank (Ted Danson) with some trepidation because she’s seen a disturbing room in his home that’s absolutelyfilledwith crude child-like drawings. He seems to have gone mad but Betsy gives the old man the benefit of the doubt and asks him what the pictures are all about. Hank answers that he’s seen violence all his life, from war in Korea to petty crimes in his role as police officer. It made him think about miscommunication and how it can be the root of all conflict. It all comes down to language. So his simple drawings were an attempt to create a universal language of pictures.

If anything, the inclusion of the UFO seems to be Fargo Season 2’s own meta commentary on miscommunication. We have no idea why it’s there or what it’s intentions are. And that’s not unusual for the human species among itself. Why should it be any different for celestial visitors?

Earth ‘Under Attack From Within’ & Could Face ‘Blackouts for Decades’ as the Poles Flip +Videos

Our planet’s magnetic field has weakened 15% in the past 200 years – which could be an early warning sign. If the poles flip, compasses will point south – and it could have significant effects on Earth’s power grid (although it’s not likely to happen immediately, despite doomsday-mongers’ obsession with the idea). A report by Undark suggests that the ‘flip’ could allow radiation to reach Earth’s surface, and play havoc with satellites.
Scientists are using satellites to analyse the shifts in Earth’s magnetic field – and seen that the north magnetic pole is ‘turbulent and unpredictable’, Futurism reports.

PARTS of the Earth could be “uninhabitable” due to pronounced exposure to solar radiation if the world’s north and south magnetic poles shift, leaving citizens facing a “domino run of blackouts lasting decades”, it has been claimed.

Science author Alanna Mitchell has delivered the stark warning in an article that declares the Earth is “under attack from within” and that a shift in poles could have dire consequences.

Ms Mitchell warned that a shift means the important shield surrounding the Earth called a magnetic field could be “compromised for centuries”.

She wrote: “Because grids are so tightly coupled with each other, failure would race across the globe, causing a domino run of blackouts that could last for decades.

“The shield could be compromised for centuries while the poles move, allowing malevolent radiation closer to the surface of the planet for that whole time. Already, changes within the Earth have weakened the field over the South Atlantic so much that satellites exposed to the resulting radiation have experienced memory failure.

“It turns out that the dipole — the orderly two-pole magnetic field our compasses respond to — is under attack from within.

“The Earth’s magnetic field protects our planet from dangerous solar and cosmic rays, like a giant shield. As the poles switch places (or try to), that shield is weakened; scientists estimate that it could waste away to as little as a tenth of its usual force.”

Since the last shift, the world has changed drastically – there is now close to 7.6billion people inhabiting Earth, this is twice as many as in 1970 alone.

The European Space Agency’s Swarm trio claims that a flip could be imminent, according to their satellite data.

Some have seen this problem coming for a long time and changed their entire way of life by going off-grid. The author explained: “Today, we know that the poles have changed places hundreds of times, most recently 780,000 years ago. (Sometimes, the poles try to reverse positions but then snap back into place, in what is called an excursion. The last time was about 40,000 years ago.)

“We also know that when they flip next time, the consequences for the electrical and electronic infrastructure that runs modern civilisation will be dire. The question is when that will happen.

“Geophysicists have tried to answer that question through satellite imagery and math. They have figured out how to peer deep inside the Earth, to the edge of the molten, metallic core where the magnetic field is continually being generated.”

Now, contrast what I’ve explained the effects would be with what doomsday folks are saying, such as this article:

“As the shift approaches, things begin to go out of balance, and the magnetic field begins to fluctuate significantly over a very short period of time (about 3 – 6 months). This would be like a full moon getting bigger and bigger every day. What happens then is that people start to go crazy emotionally. This breaks down economical and social structures on the planet because it is only people who keep these structures together.”

So what about a large external magnetic force? There’s nothing large enough that’s nearby. Sure, if we were to pass by a magnetar, we’ll be in trouble. Those have magnetic fields on the order of ~1015 times stronger than Earth’s. But the sun’s magnetic field really shows no evidence of affecting ours to the point of flipping it. There is no evidence at all – historic or validated theoretical – to show that the sun’s magnetic field, which is only up to ~10x stronger than Earth’s, can flip ours. After all, if it could, then it would every 11 years, since that’s how often the sun’s field flips.

So I’ve now given two ways that this really could happen – if a planet-mass object or an extraordinarily large magnetic field were to hit us or come near us, that could affect Earth’s rotation or magnetic field to the point where we would get a magnetic pole reversal (or, I guess a really big “shift”). However, we now again get to the question of evidence: There is none. We would know of a planet-sized (or larger) object that is close enough to come near us in 4 years (the end of 2012), or even 40 years. Similarly, we would see effects of a gigantic magnetic field nearby that’s close enough to affect us in the near future, something we also do not see any evidence for.

“This may indicate that the radio emission is produced in a disk of infalling gas rather than by a radio jet. However, that would make Sgr A* an exception compared to other radio-emitting black holes. The alternative could be that the radio jet is pointing almost directly at us.”

This can’t be good news. Astronomers using a new array of telescopes for the first time managed to get a really good look at the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy and discovered that it has its radio jet pointed almost directly at planet Earth. Why? A better question might be “WTF does this mean and shouldn’t we be wearing foil while reading this?”

In a press release from the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy, which participated in this project, Sara Issaoun, a graduate student at the Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands and led author of the study published in the Astrophysical Journal, describes what she noticed when reviewing data collected by the worldwide array of telescopes, including the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile, while pointed at the formerly foggy center-of-the-Milky-Way black hole known as Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*). It’s “formerly foggy” because the team used a technique called very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) which allowed them to effectively combine dozens of telescopes (there are 66 in ALMA alone) into one giant virtual telescope the size of the Earth and peer through the fog.

“Even though scattering blurs and distorts the image of Sgr A*, the incredible resolution of these observations allowed us to pin down the exact properties of the scattering. We could then remove most of the effects from scattering and begin to see what things look like near the black hole.”

Michael Johnson of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics developed the technique used to remove the scattering — an effect caused by density irregularities in the ionized material along the line of sight between Sgr A* and the Earth. Once the team got a clear view of Sgr A*, they saw that the radio jet spewing material and strong radio waves from the black hole at close to the speed of light was coming from a spot so tiny that the only way it could possibly be seen on Earth is if it was pointed directly or almost directly at us. Sagittarius A*

Are we all gonna die? Well, yes … but not from the radio jet pointed at us by the evil Sgr A* black hole. It’s 25,640 light years away, so it’s not going to hurt even if you stare directly at it through the world’s larges telescope without proper eyeshades. However, researchers like Michael Johnson are absolutely giddy over the possibilities.

“If ALMA has the same success in joining the Event Horizon Telescope at even higher frequencies, then these new results show that interstellar scattering will not stop us from peering all the way down to the event horizon of the black hole.”

Will they see through the wormhole into a far corner of the universe? Into another dimension? Or will they see another group of researchers from the future peering back at them?

Will those future researchers be pointing and laughing?

In 2017, NASA scientists at the Goddard Space Flight Center published a study warning that because of recent anomalies in the Earth’s protective magnetic field, dangerous clouds of cosmic radiation could soon pose serious health risks to airline crews and passengers flying at high altitudes. Since then, several airliners have faced lawsuits from crews who say they experienced unexplained illnesses as a result of their time in the air. Are the two connected?

The Earth’s magnetic field serves as a shield against cosmic rays, but that field is weakening in places for reasons still unknown.

Hard to say, but a recent spate of mysterious illnesses on flights sure makes it seem like something weird is going on aboard airliners lately, whether or not it’s related to NASA’s 2017 warnings about cosmic radiation. On January 2, multiple passengers aboard Frontier Airlines Flight 1397 flight from Cleveland, Ohio to Tampa, Florida fell ill with a mysterious illness. Dozens of passengers suddenly became nauseated and many of them vomited, prompting the plane to land early. The sick passengers were moved to the front of the plane for triage while the rest had to be moved to the rear of the aircraft where they waited to deplane for 90 minutes.

Good thing those tiny paper bags were there among the germ-infested magazines.

It’s still unclear what caused the passengers of Flight 1397 to fall ill, but Frontier Airlines believe it may have something to do with a water fountain at the airport. Officials from the City of Cleveland stated they would conduct an investigation, but there has been no update in the weeks that followed.

Just this week, a Dubai-bound Ural Airlines aircraft which departed from Moscow, Russia had to make an emergency landing after many passengers all fell ill simultaneously. About 90 minutes into the flight, many passengers suddenly found it difficult to breathe and became nauseated. Some of those who fell ill were reported to have “greatly dilated pupils.”

Nausea is a symptom of radiation poisoning – and just about every other form of poisoning. Airline cabins and noxious fumes go hand-in-hand sometimes.

One passenger says that as more and more people fell ill, a sense of dread filled the cabin:

I was woken up by a young woman screaming for assistance. She yelled and screamed ‘Help, help!’ because her husband felt ill. He was feeling really bad. He was suffocating and couldn’t breathe in. His face went the colour green  — then a panic swept through the plane.

Similar to the Frontier Flight 1397 incident, this one currently remains unexplained. Mid-flight illnesses are nothing new, and there are plenty of things aboard a modern airliner that could make passengers ill including the stink of other passengers’ rotting flesh. Still, the sudden uptick in mid-flight illnesses coincides with recent discoveries of more and more anomalies in the Earth’s magnetic field. Could NASA’s warning about cosmic radiation finally be coming true?

The Age of ‘information’ has allowed people around the globe to research accounts related to phenomenon and theories that are ‘unconventional’ and extraordinary.

For several years, proponents of the ‘Alien’ theory believe in the existence of a shadowy ‘world’ government, and a secret space armada, which monitors –among other things— alien life within our solar system and defends planet Earth from the dangers that lie in the cosmos.

Some would call this science fiction or the basis for a movie worth watching. Others, however, believe there’s truth to these accounts, and point towards scientists, government officials, and even military personnel who have come forward offering ‘evidence’ that tells us all of this is more than just a science fiction movie script.

Among the projects that allegedly exist in the ‘background’ is one commonly referred to as ‘Solar Warden.’

The term ‘Solar Warden’ refers to a SECRET space program which is being funded by a secret black budget.

The first reference to “Solar Warden” occurred in March of 2006.

Some might say that secret space fleet, military operations in space, and Solar Warden are the result of an overactive imagination or a science fiction novel. Others believe it’s real, and society is being widely deceived throughout the years.

If Solar Warden is real, it would most likely use an advanced technology equivalent to several generations ahead of what the military currently uses in the battlefield. Some speculate that alien technology or better said reverse-engineered alien technology is responsible for the rapid development of such systems.

I suspect that in the last 60 years or so, that there has been some back-engineering and the creation of this type of equipment, which is not nearly as sophisticated yet as what the apparent visitors have.”

As it turns out, there are many individuals who have obtained –through different ways— classified information that suggests secret space programs like Solar Warden actually exist.

Gary McKinnon –an individual which is accused of the biggest ever hack in the history of the United States by breaking into the computers of the Army, Air Force, Navy and NASA— believes that he came across the ultimate information that proves the US have a secret space program operated by the navy with fully operational warships that operate in Space.

Perhaps one of the most fascinating statement comes from Dr. Farouk El Baz, a NASA scientist who said that: “Not every discovery has been announced,” and from Ben Rich second director of Lockheed Skunkworks who said: “We have things out there that are literally out of this world, better than Star Trek or what you see in the movies. We already have the means to travel among the stars, but these technologies are locked up in black projects, and it would take an act of God ever to get them out to benefit humanity. Anything you can imagine, we already know how to do it…”

According to many people, the statement from Ben Rich is a small tell-tale sign that indicates secret space programs like Solar Warden actually exist.

McKinnon and many others concluded that there is a fleet of spaceships belonging to the USA. This is also supported by comments from the United States Naval Service which revealed in private interviews that the US Navy is in charge of a policy in regards to the use of advanced technologies off planet Earth.

The space fleet, hidden and unknown to the public, operates under the US Naval Network and Space Operations Command (NNSOC) (formerly Naval Space Command). There are approximately 300 people involved in the project.

Solar Warden is said to consist of US aerospace contractors, black projects, but with some contributions of parts and systems from Canada. UK, Italy, Austria, Russia and Australia. It is also said that the program has been tested and operated from secret military bases, such as Area 51 in Nevada, USA.

According to numerous ‘whistleblowers’ Solar Warden has already established bases not only on the moon, but on Mars as well.

If Solar Warden is the correct call sign for a secret ‘antigravity space fleet’, then it designates a joint forces command project which draws upon different US military space commands.

Interestingly, when  Gary McKinnon first found his way into classified files of U.S. Space Command he said that he had found: “…a list of officers’ names … under the heading ‘Non-Terrestrial Officers’. It doesn’t mean little green men. What I think it means is not Earth-based. I found a list of ‘fleet-to-fleet transfers’, and a list of ship names. I looked them up. They weren’t US Navy ships. What I saw made me believe they have some kind of spaceship, off-planet.”

Furthermore, retired aerospace engineer, William Tompkins has given extremely well-detailed accounts of secret space operations and space flotillas that exist in the ‘background’, funded by a black budget.

During an interview, Tompkins revealed:

“Thousands, thousands, not just a few, thousands of people have joined the Navy here in the United States. They joined the Space Navy. They signed up for a 20-year tour. So these folks, men and women, were given a lot of examinations and a lot of information on what they were going to need.”

“Many of them went to the Moon, our Moon, and facilities there and got checked out and organized and established where is the best place they’re going to go, what their criteria is going to be, what major area they’re going to develop, like what class in the university. And then they get sent to a Mars facility for a short time.”

Tompkins even describes how secret space program personnel are assigned after the induction:

“…and then they get assigned to a specific base. And they work for a short time in the base before they’re assigned a naval cruiser, or a naval attack vehicle, or even a naval spacecraft carrier, which are one, two, and four kilometer long class. And we have eight of those battle groups out there. So there’s plenty of room for new people to come aboard…”

Just a few weeks ago, I did a radio show on UFOs that started off on the Men in Black, but which later became focused on the well-known document titled Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs, a part of which was focused on alien life. It was a document written by an employee of the Brookings Institution named Donald N. Michael. The report was contracted by the Committee on Long Range Studies, which was an arm of NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The document was completed and provided to the House of Representatives in the 87^th United States Congress on April 18, 1961.

The host of the show referred, on several occasions, to the “top secret” nature of the document. I pointed out that the document had not been top secret at all. “Yes, it was,” was the reply. “No, it was not,” I hit back. Other people who phoned in said the document had a high classification. One caller stated it had “been classified above top secret.” There is no “above top secret” category, by the way. Matters went on like this for around fifteen minutes. Afterwards, and for a few days, I decided to run a little experiment. I spoke to a few people in Ufology about the Brookings report and deliberately steered the conversation in the direction of the supposedly secret document. I was amazed at the number of other people who had assumed the document had been highly classified. One was sure there was a “top secret” stamp on his copy of the report, which is complete crap. All of this demonstrates just how unreliable our memories can be. How do we know this? Well, consider the following:

In the December 1960 / January 1961 edition of the NICAP UFO Investigator magazine, a feature appeared under the banner of Space-Life Report Could be Shock. It tells us this: “The discovery of intelligent space beings could have a severe effect on the public, according to a research report released by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The report warned that America should prepare to meet the psychological impact of such a revelation. The 190-page report was the result of a $96,000 one-year study conducted by the Brookings Institution for NASA’s long-range study committee.”

As the above extract from NICAP (the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena) makes abundantly clear, the ufologists of the day – late 1960 / early 1961 – knew all aboutthe Brookings report. It was not a hidden report. In other words, there was nothing secret about it at all. NICAP added: “Public realization that intelligent beings live on other planets could bring about profound changes, or even the collapse of our civilization, the research report stated. ‘Societies sure of their own place have disintegrated when confronted by a superior society,’ said the NASA report. ‘Others have survived even though changed. Clearly, the better we can come to understand the factors involved in responding to such crises the better prepared we may be. Although the research group did not expect any immediate contact with other planet beings, it said that the discovery of intelligent space races ‘could nevertheless happen at any time.”

NICAP had more to say: “Even though the UFO problem was not indicated as a reason for the study, it undoubtedly was an important factor. Fear of public reaction to an admission of UFO reality was cited as the main reason for secrecy in the early years of the AF [Air Force] investigation. Radio communication probably would be the first proof of other intelligent life, says the NASA report. It adds: ‘Evidences of its existence might also be found in artifacts left on the moon or other planets.’”

And then there was this from NICAP: “…previous thinking by scholars who have suggested that the earth already may be under close scrutiny by advanced space races. In 1958, Prof. Harold D. Lasswell of the Yale Law School stated: ‘The implications of the UFOs may be that we are already viewed with suspicion by more advanced civilizations and that our attempts to gain a foothold elsewhere may be rebuffed as a threat to other systems of public order.’ The NASA warning of a possible shock to the public, from the revelation of more advanced civilizations, support’s NICAP’s previous arguments against AF [Air Force] secrecy about UFOs. All available information about UFOs should be given to the public now, so that we will be prepared for any eventuality.”

Even when I brought all of this to the attentions of friends and colleagues, some were still sure it had been a highly classified document, with one claiming it had remained classified until the 1990s. Garbage! This may have far more to do with the human mind and our memories, rather than sloppy research. I’m reminded of other similar situations and memories of the Fortean kind, such as those concerning the “missing Thunderbird photo,” a subject I’ll get to on another day.

Deep under ice it dwells: Scientists find ‘fully unexpected’ signs of life in subglacial Antarctic

The researchers were then thrilled to uncover a collection of higher lifeforms: crustaceans, the tendril of a plant or fungus, and an eight-legged tardigrade. Known as “water bear,” this micro-animal is an ultimate survivor, with experiments in the past seeing it withstand desiccation (total drying up of the body), solar radiation, both boiling and freezing temperatures, and even living over a week in outer space.

A previous drilling expedition at Lake Whillans in 2013, some 50km from Lake Mercer, found an environment brimming with microbes, but no signs of more complex life. Thinking that the specimens may have been initially introduced on contaminated equipment, the team cleaned the instruments and repeated the process only to find more ancient lifeforms in the mud.

Researchers used a hot-water drill to bore through 3,500 feet down into an Antarctic subglacial lake, and found tiny carcasses of preserved animals.

Calling the discovery “fully unexpected,” David Harwood, a micropaleontologist with the SALSA team, told Nature magazine that the discovered remains were in excellent condition.

“It looked really fresh,” he said of one crustacean found with tiny, delicate hairs still attached. “Like something that had been living.”Another shrimp-like crustacean was found with legs still hanging from it and discolored “like an old leaf that’s been sitting on the ground for a season,” Harwood added.

Theories are now sprouting as to how the organisms came to be in the lake. Some suggest they may have lived in nearby ponds and streams during warm periods of glacial retreat between 10,000 and 120,000 years ago, before being washed into the lake through underground rivers deep beneath the ice or a moving glacier.

After covering up the bored hole in January, the SALSA team are now using carbon dating and attempts to sequence the creatures’ DNA in a bid to date them accurately and compare them to modern specimens. This may provide answers to how far the continent’s glaciers retreated millennia ago.

However, the surprise discovery may also inspire hope for those waiting on future exploration of extraterrestrial subglacial worlds. NASA is planning to drill into the frozen crust of Jupiter’s moon Europa in search for alien life, while closer to home on Mars stunning photos of a crater filled with water ice have teased space lovers worldwide.

In 2017, the New York Times and Washington Post confirmed what many had had long suspected: the pentagon was still researching and investigating UFOs long after the bad old days of foo fighters and Project Blue Book.  The Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) officially operated from 2007 to 2012, under the direction of Luiz Elizondo and funded at the insistence of then senate majority leader Harry Reid of Nevada. It was officially shut down due to lack of funding, much to the frustration of Elizondo and Reid who considered it a necessary function of the Defense Department. While this paints the picture of a short-lived and relatively cheap—in the five years it was operational, the AATIP officially cost $22 million—flight of fancy, vanity project, or black-ops cash funnel, new information was released last week that shows the AATIP was interested in much more than simply watching the skies.

According to Motherboard, the Defense Intelligence Agency released a list of 38 research projects funded by the AATIP in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Scientists’ Project on Government Secrecy. The list was presented to congress in January, 2018. The projects funded include juicy titles like “Invisibility Cloaking”, “High-Frequency Gravitational Wave Communications”, “Traversable Wormholes, Stargates, and Negative Energy”, and “Antigravity for Aerospace Applications.”

Of course, there’s nothing in FOIA document that explains anything about these titles, so the imagination is left to run wild. It could be that every single one of these projects came to the same conclusion: this is all useless and impossible. But that seems unlikely.

Looking at all of the project titles in one batch is overwhelming. It’s hard to find more techno-babble lumped together even in the pulpiest Sci-Fi movie. That the Defense Intelligence Agency was actually spending money on a project titled  “Warp Drive, Dark Energy, and the Manipulation of Extra Dimensions,” is hard to fathom, but here we are.

In an email to Motherboard, Aftergood wrote:

“The list of research papers tells us something more than previous reporting did about this odd program. Now we have a better idea of exactly what the Defense Intelligence Agency was up to, and what it produced.

I think anyone who looks at these titles will scratch their heads and wonder what on earth the Defense Intelligence Agency was thinking. These are the kinds of topics you pursue when you have more money than you know what to do with.”

I don’t know, Steven, I bet they knew exactly what to do with that money.

It must be asked: could this actually just be techno-babble? How seriously did the DIA take the idea of warp drives, or the “Cognitive Limits on Simultaneous Control of Multiple Unmanned Spacecraft?” Is there a chance this is some sort of misdirection? It’s not unheard of, and black projects need to be funded somehow. You can hide a whole lot in a good UFO story.

All the money was spent on developing those magnetic display stands that make Bud Light bottles float.

We can’t know what the actual point of this research was, but it doesn’t seem like the AATIP ran out of money and shut down like the Department of Defense claims. According to a 2017 article in the New York Times, despite the official shuttering of the AATIP, the project remained operating in secret. According to the Times, Luiz Elizondo resigned from his position in 2017, in protest of the “excessive secrecy and internal opposition.” Elizondo said there was a new director of the program, but he declined to name who it was.

What do you do when an intelligence project stumbles on something that would raise a few too many eyebrows? Send that bad boy underground, of course. Whatever the outcome of this research was we may never know, but our slide into the realm of science fiction seems to be happening faster and faster. For those of us who prefer our reality on the weirder side, we’re probably in for a treat.

This report just came in today. A person was taking photos of a hillside are of Clarens, South Africa and the first photo shows nothing in particular, however the second shows an upside down pyramid UFO. Close up of the UFO shows it has a grey metallic surface with perfectly symmetrical sides. Clarens is a small city of 6,300 residents. 

 

This is not an insect flying past, because there are no legs, wings or head. This is not a kite, because it was gone in seconds. I have heard of pyramid UFOs, but until now never seen one. The object appears to be directly above the mountain and is approximately the size of a small car. Its incredible speed of being caught in only one photo...is an indicator that this was an alien craft.

Electric-Blue Clouds Appear over Antarctica

Data from NASA's AIM spacecraft show that noctilucent clouds are like a great "geophysical light bulb." They turn on every year in late spring, reaching almost full intensity over a period of no more than 5 to 10 days.

As December unfolds, a vast bank of noctilucent clouds is blanketing Antarctica. It started on Nov. 20th as a tiny puff of electric-blue and quickly expanded to overlie nearly the entire continent. AIM is monitoring the progress of the clouds as they swirl and ripple around the south pole.

"The clouds appeared over the south pole earlier than usual this year," says AIM science team member Cora Randall of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics in Colorado. "Since AIM was launched, only the 2009 season got an earlier start.

Noctilucent clouds--or "NLCs" for short--are Earth's highest clouds. Seeded by disintegrating meteoroids, they form at the edge of space 83 km above Earth's surface. When sunlight hits the tiny ice crystals that make up these clouds, they appear to glow electric blue.

Summer is when NLCs are at their brightest and most widespread.  Now is summer in the southern hemisphere. The clouds brighten over the south pole in November through February, and shift to the north pole in May through August.

Why summer?  The answer has to do with wind patterns and the flow of humidity in our atmosphere.  Summer happens to be the time when the greatest number of water molecules are wafted up from the lower atmosphere to mix with "meteor smoke" at the edge of space. Ironically, summer is also the time when the upper atmosphere is coldest, allowing the ice crystals of NLCs to form.

In recent years NLCs have intensified and spread.  When noctilucent clouds first appeared in the 19th century, you had to travel to polar regions to see them.  Since the turn of the century, however, they have been sighted as close to the equator as Colorado and Utah.

Some researchers believe this is a sign of climate change. One of the greenhouse gases that has become more abundant in Earth's atmosphere since the 19th century is methane.

"When methane makes its way into the upper atmosphere, it is oxidized by a complex series of reactions to form water vapor," explains Hampton University Professor James Russell, the principal investigator of AIM. "This extra water vapor is then available to grow ice crystals for NLCs."

If this idea, one of several, is correct, noctilucent clouds are a sort of "canary in a coal mine" for one of the most important greenhouse gases.  And that, says Russell, is a great reason to study them.

Studying NLCs is the prime mission of the AIM spacecraft. Since it was launched in 2007, AIM has made many key discoveries including the role of meteor dust in seeding NLCs and the way NLCs are affected by long-distance teleconnections in the atmosphere. More discoveries may be in the offing as NASA has just extended the mission for another two years.

Alien Worlds, Extraterrestrial Life: Space Artist Sketches The Cosmos

A buzzing phone brings Ron Miller back to Earth.

Till then, his mind was decidedly elsewhere—on the alien world HD 219134 b, 120 trillion miles from his artist’s studio in South Boston, Virginia.

“A great big rocky planet,” he says. “I was working on it when you called.”

Orbiting an ancient star in the constellation of Cassiopeia, HD 219134 b is colossal indeed, about four times the mass of Earth. The ground, Miller says, is “covered with dense aluminum compounds.” Gemstones, maybe? Scratch the otherworldly surface, he supposes, and perhaps the topsoil is crusted and dusted with “sapphire and rubies.”

That notion in tow, his stylus in hand, and a five-year-old version of Photoshop in place, Miller conjures up a bejeweled landscape in a couple of days. He finalized HD 219134 b just before 2019 arrived, his 47^th year drawing the surreal estate in outer space. His illustrations, in more than 60 books and hundreds of magazines (Astronomy, National Geographic, Scientific American), number in the thousands. It never gets old, he says: “Half the fun is trying something new and seeing what happens. Every picture is a surprise to me.”

Miller’s formative years were in the fifties. “The golden age of space,” he says. “Books and magazines about spaceships and rockets were everywhere. Public interest in space flight was intense.” Sputnik launched when he was ten, NASA commenced one year later; he watched Space Patrol on television, Forbidden Planet at the theater. Miller was captivated, but a career in science was out. “I wasn’t good at math,” he says. But he could draw, and his first sketches were “rocket ships and the moon.”

Eventually he drew the solar system: Jovian clouds, Plutonian cliffs, dust devils on Mars, the volcanoes of Venus. Saturn’s moons appear in 84 of his illustrations. Enceladus is a favorite, a tiny satellite about the size of New Mexico. Scientists say Enceladus shelters a salty subsurface ocean, and some sort of life—maybe microbial, maybe something more sophisticated—might swim in its mysterious deep. Miller’s drawings of the moon depict a geologically-dynamic world of fountains, fissures, springs, and snowfalls. “I love doing Enceladus pictures,” he understates.

Two decades ago, astronomers found the first exoplanets. Suddenly, whole new worlds opened up for Miller. Yet even today, exoplanets remain an enigma. “In most cases, all we really know is that the planet is there,” he says. “You have a rough idea of its size and distance from its star. And that’s about it.” Miller’s ingenuity fills in the blanks, a blend of science and supposition. “With exoplanets, there’s a lot of leeway,” he says. “But the picture has to be plausible.”

Something else changed too, this about a dozen years ago: Miller switched—with hesitation at first—from acrylics to digital. “I’m still drawing and painting,” he says, “but now there’s no paint at all. The cleaning and changing and fixing and mixing—the mechanical stuff that’s not creative—that’s all eliminated.” Now, in the same time he’d spend on a “traditional painting,” a piece “with twice the detail, that’s twice as finished” emerges.

Extraterrestrial life, he believes, exists. Some might reside on Earth analogues. Miller’s rendering of a rocky beach on GJ 1214 b resembles the coast along Malibu. A habitable zone planet festooned with vegetation evokes Walden Pond. (Thoreau, however, likely never considered a chartreuse sky.) Big monsters seldom appear in Miller’s art, with notably spooky exceptions. Balloon-like creatures, tentacles dangling, drift through the dark firmament of a gas giant; an alien fish, a scary fusion of squid and shark, leaps from a cold green sea. The stunning images arouse an awe that commingles with terror. But Miller—perhaps understating again—brushes accolades aside: “I don’t draw animals very well. I can’t do a horse to save my life.”

At 71, he has no plans to retire. “I try to incorporate in the next picture what I didn’t do in the last one,” he says. “There’s always something I could’ve done a little bit better.” Certainly, the universe offers plenty of opportunity for practice. At last look, NASA has confirmed 3,872 exoplanets, with billions more out there. Art, says Miller, is “a learning process that never ends.” Science is much the same. With golden days here again, Ron Miller’s just getting started.

Europe wants to mine the moon by 2025: European Space Agency reveals plan that could spark a new space race

Plans for a European base on the moon have taken a major step forward.

The European Space Agency revealed it has signed up rocket maker ArianeGroup to develop plans for a moon base that could be used to mine material from the lunar surface.

The project will 'examine the possibility of going to the Moon before 2025 and starting to work there' - and could trigger a new space race as countries rush to harness lunar resources.

The European Space Agency revealed it has signed up rocket maker ArianeGroup to develop plans for a moon base that could be used to mine material from the lunar surface. Industrial partners including renowned architects Foster+Partners have already worked with ESA to test the feasibility of 3D printing using lunar soil to create moon bases. 

The one-year contract aims to eventually mine regolith on the lunar surface. 

'As ESA and other agencies prepare to send humans back to the Moon – this time to stay – technologies that make use of materials available in space (in-situ resource utilisation) are seen as key to sustainability, and a stepping stone in humankind's adventure to Mars and farther into the Solar System,' the space agency said.  

'In the longer term, resources in space may even be used on Earth.' 

'Regolith is an ore from which it is possible to extract water and oxygen, thus enabling an independent human presence on the Moon to be envisaged, capable of producing the fuel needed for more distant exploratory missions, ESA says.

Ariane is hoping Ariane 64, the 4-booster version of Ariane 6, would enable this European mission to carry the equipment needed for a Moon landing.

'The use of space resources could be a key to sustainable lunar exploration and this study is part of ESA's comprehensive plan to make Europe a partner in global exploration in the next decade - a plan we will put to our Ministers for decision later this year at the Space19+ Conference.' added Dr. David Parker; Director, Human and Robotic Exploration at ESA. 

The mission will pit Europe against the US, Russia and China, all of whom are developing moon missions. 

Last year NASA revealed plans to take America back to the moon - but will rely on private firms to run the missions. 

The space agency plans to work with nine private firms, ranging from small startups to giants like Lockheed Martin, to develop robotic landers and systems to mine the natural resources on the moon.

This will help develop the technology need for eventual manned missions, and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine pledged to have a manned lunar base within a decade.  

Ariane is hoping Ariane 64, the 4-booster version of Ariane 6, would enable this European mission to carry the equipment needed for a Moon landing.

It is also working with a German start-up, PTScientists, which will provide the lunar lander, and a Belgian SME, Space Applications Services, which will provide the ground control facilities, the communications and the associated service operations. 

WHAT ARE EUROPE'S PLAN FOR A MOON BASE?

In 2016, the head of the ESA elaborated on plans to build a village on the moon, designed by London firm Foster + Partners.

'The future of space travel needs a new vision,' said Jan Woerner.

The concept is a base for lunar exploration by humans and robots, which would act as a stopover for spacecraft, and become a 'village' with mining and even tourism.

'Right now we have the Space Station as a common international project, but it won't last forever,' said Woerner.

'If I say Moon Village, it does not mean single houses, a church, a town hall and so on. No, that would be misleading. 

'My idea only deals with the core of the concept of a village: people working and living together in the same place. 

'And this place would be on the moon.

'In the Moon Village we would like to combine the capabilities of different spacefaring nations, with the help of robots and astronauts. 

Structures for a lunar base could be built by robots sent ahead of human astronauts. Experts said 3D printing technology can currently construct an entire building in around a week

'The participants can work in different fields, perhaps they will conduct pure science and perhaps there will even be business ventures like mining or tourism.'

Woerner said the village could even help man get to Mars.

'The Moon Village would also act as a 'pit stop' for the further exploration of the Universe,' he said. 

'Esa is eager to fly to Mars as well. 

For ESA's 3D-printed lunar base concept, Foster+Partners devised a weight-bearing ‘catenary’ dome design with a cellular structured wall to shield against micrometeoroids and space radiation, incorporating a pressurised inflatable to shelter astronauts

'For more than a decade, we have had a very successful spacecraft orbiting there. And now, with ExoMars, two unmanned missions are aiming at martian orbit and the surface. 

'Yes, the Americans want to send astronauts to Mars one day, but today's technology isn't prepared for this trip yet. 

'For example, we must develop countermeasures against the cosmic radiation that endangers the health of humans on long space trips. And we have to learn how to endure longer periods of time in space, not only in low orbit as on the Space Station.

'This is where our Moon comes into play – it is the perfect stepping stone to Mars.' 

The space agency has been touting the permanent lunar colony as a replacement for the orbiting International Space Station, which is due to be decommissioned in 2024 

'This first contract – symbolically announced on the day of a lunar eclipse – is a milestone for ArianeGroup, which has for a long time been working on technological proposals for space logistics servicing,' explained André-Hubert Roussel, CEO of ArianeGroup.

 'It is also an opportunity to recall the ability of Ariane 64 to carry out Moon missions for its institutional customers, with a payload capacity of up to 8.5 metric tons.'  

Researchers are planning to recreate the conditions of the lunar surface right here at home. A new facility in the works at ESA's Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany will soon serve as a three-part moon analogue environment on Earth. Artist's impression of the facility. A new facility in the works at ESA's Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany will soon serve as a three-part moon analogue environment on Earth, the agency announced this month.

There, scientists will simulate lunar soil and a moon habitat, powered by systems that could one day be used to support a real base on the moon. 

The new facility will be known as Luna, and will take up 1,000 square meters at the Astronaut Centre.

This will pave the way for future explorations to the surface of the moon, which numerous agencies around the world are now working to achieve.

'The moon is a major focus for ESA and the next step for human exploration,' said ESA project manager for strategic planning and future development, Andreas Diekmann.

'Developed in partnership with DLR, Luna will help us build our expertise, prepare for missions to the moon and provide a platform for researchers across Europe to test technology and procedures.'

Researchers are creating a lunar dust substitute from volcanic powder produced by eruptions at the nearby Eifel volcanic region 45 million years ago.

The moon habitat known as FlexHab (Future Lunar Exploration Habitat) is intended to be operational by the end of this year. 

Once it's finished, astronauts will live and work there, in a space roughly the size of a shipping container.

The space agency is currently eyeing solar energy as the most sustainable way to power operations on the moon.

'During the lunar day, energy from the Sun will be used directly via photovoltaic panels, but it will also be used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen,' ESA says.

'These two elements will then be stored separately before being recombined in a fuel cell for use during the two-week-long lunar nights.'

NASA has also recently ramped up its efforts to get astronauts back to the moon, decades after the final landing of the historic Apollo missions.

The space agency is currently planning to get humans on the lunar surface no later than the 2020s, and set up an orbiting outpost by 2023.

These goals rely on recent advances in commercial space operations and the upcoming Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System rocket.

'This will be the first chance for the majority of people alive today to witness a Moon landing – a moment when, in awe and wonder, the world holds its breath,' NASA said earlier this year.

Saturn is as famous for its spectacular white rings as for its 62 moons.

But the gas giant's rings, familiar to every schoolchild, probably did not form 4.5 billion years ago with the birth of our solar system.

In fact, they may have been created when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth.

Scientists now believe Saturn's rings may have formed as recently as 10 million years ago, when an icy comet was sucked into the planet's orbit and pulled apart by its enormous gravity field.

It means our solar system may still have been capable of massive change relatively recently, and Earth could one day end up with its own spectacular rings.

Saturn's rings have long been a subject of fascination, as they contain particles which range from tiny specks of ice to boulders as big as houses. 

But it took the famous spacecraft Cassini to answer the question of how old they may be.

In its 2017 Grand Finale, after 13 years of exploring Saturn, the spacecraft made 22 dives between Saturn's rings before ending its mission and burning up in its atmosphere.

The spectacular flyby gave scientists the readings they needed to estimate the mass of the rings. 

The ring colour gets slightly darker with time as fragments of rock from passing meteors attach to their icy surfaces, allowing experts to estimate how long they have been growing for.

The conclusion, published in the journal Science, is that Saturn's rings are only between 10 and 100 million years old and thus much younger than the planet itself, which formed with the solar system 4.5 billion years ago.

Burkhard Militzer, professor of earth and planetary science at the University of California, Berkeley, who was a co-author of the study, said: 'Like many others, I grew up believing that Saturn's rings were as old as it was, but now it seems that is wrong.

'The drastic impact with a comet which we believe happened came really not all that long ago. 

'We believe it is around the time that an asteroid impact may have wiped out the dinosaurs, suggesting the solar system is not quite the quiet place we may have thought.' 

Cassini effectively acted as gravity probe, diving inside the rings of Saturn. It is a dangerous trip, with the spacecraft at risk of being hit with boulders from the rings.

However the journey allowed the first mass measurement of the amount of material they rings contain, based on the strength of their gravitational pull.

The estimate is that the rings have about two-fifths of the mass of Saturn's moon Mimas, which is itself 2,000 times lighter than Earth's moon. 

That could settle a long-running argument among planetary scientists, some of whom believed the rings formed when Saturn did, while others thought them younger.

Findings suggest the rings are very young and came from an icy comet, which may have entered Saturn's orbit from the Kuiper belt on the outskirts of the solar system. 

The comet would have been pulled apart into rubble, forming the rings.

Alternatively the rings may have been created when two or more moons collided, with the rings being made of left over debris.

John Zarnecki, emeritus professor of space science at the Open University, said: 'Saturn's rings are one of the wonders of the solar system. 

Anyone who has seen them through a small telescope can't fail to be amazed.

'Although not yet definitive, these results strongly suggest that the rings are young in the context of 4.5 billion-year-old Saturn.

'The interesting part is that this could also happen to Earth, with a comet capable of creating rings on this planet. However we probably wouldn't be around to see them as the impact might be calamitous to life on Earth.'

Meanwhile the moon will turn red next week in what may be Britain's last total lunar eclipse or a decade

That is because the UK will not be on the right side of the planet to see the full eclipse until 2029.

The moon will temporarily change to a reddish colour on Monday morning.

Dr Robert Massey, deputy executive director of the Royal Astronomical Society, said: 'A lunar eclipse is an absolutely fantastic sight and the red orb will make for some fantastic photo opportunities.'

WHAT DID CASSINI DISCOVER DURING ITS 20-YEAR MISSION IN SPACE?

Cassini launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida in 1997, then spent seven years in transit followed by 13 years orbiting Saturn.

In 2000 it spent six months studying Jupiter before reaching Saturn in 2004.

In that time, it discovered six more moons around Saturn, three-dimensional structures towering above Saturn's rings, and a giant storm that raged across the planet for nearly a year.

On 13 December 2004 it made its first flyby of Saturn's moons Titan and Dione.

On 24 December it released the European Space Agency-built Huygens probe on Saturn's moon Titan to study its atmosphere and surface composition.

There it discovered eerie hydrocarbon lakes made from ethane and methane.

In 2008, Cassini completed its primary mission to explore the Saturn system and began its mission extension (the Cassini Equinox Mission).

In 2010 it began its second mission (Cassini Solstice Mission) which lasted until it exploded in Saturn's atmosphere.

In December 2011, Cassini obtained the highest resolution images of Saturn's moon Enceladus.

In December of the following year it tracked the transit of Venus to test the feasibility of observing planets outside our solar system.

In March 2013 Cassini made the last flyby of Saturn's moon Rhea and measured its internal structure and gravitational pull.

In July of that year Cassini captured a black-lit Saturn to examine the rings in fine detail and also captured an image of Earth.

In April of this year it completed its closest flyby of Titan and started its Grande Finale orbit which finished on September 15.

'The mission has changed the way we think of where life may have developed beyond our Earth,' said Andrew Coates, head of the Planetary Science Group at Mullard Space Science Laboratory at University College London.

'As well as Mars, outer planet moons like Enceladus, Europa and even Titan are now top contenders for life elsewhere,' he added. 'We've completely rewritten the textbooks about Saturn.'

Pakistani pilot spots UFO mid air near Karachi

KARACHI - Authorities started an investigation about an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) which was spotted by a Pakistani pilot during a routine flight in Karachi air space here on Friday.

The pilot, who was flying PIA flight PK 536, found UFO that was flying higher than the aircraft. On this, he alerted the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) about the situation and then CAA reported to the police for further investigation, Propakistani reported while quoting sources.

After the aircraft was airborne at a distance of 4.7 nautical miles and an altitude 4,300 feet, the pilot spotted a flying object (FO) about 105 feet above the aircraft and reported this to Air Traffic Control (ATC) Karachi, the tech website report added.

“I {pilot} saw a FO which was flying about 150 feet above our aircraft. The FO is dark brown or black in color and looks like a spaceship,” he said to the ATC.

After this, the pilot changed the flight path and continued flying to his destination.
This report caused a panic in the aviation industry. Authorities suspected that the FO was a land operated drone.

On this suspicion, the CAA reported the incident to the police and asked them to search the area. A police party in the command of SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur started the investigation and searching the area.

“If this was a land operated drone it could come from Super Highway area. Police started the search operation to identify any activity related to this drone.” Irfan Bahadur told.

It is worth mentioning here that the UFO was spotted in the same area where the laser beam incident was reported by the pilots.

This UFO could be a weather balloon because Pakistan Meteorology (Met) Department launches balloons in the air to collect weather data. These balloons are sent in the air four times in 24 hours. In the evening, Met officers launched the balloon in the air at 5:00pm.

Abdul Rasheed, a local meteorologist told the reporter that these balloons can go as high as 10 miles. But, he ruled out the possibility that the UFO was a weather forecasting balloon.

“Weather forecasting is part of pilots’ training and they are familiar with these kinds of balloons,” Rasheed added.

However, it is unclear whether it was a weather balloon or something else as police and other investigation agencies are didn’t reach the real fact till filling of this news.

Further, the pilot did not take a picture of the UFO.

Over the last week, residents of Kingston, Ontario have observed an unidentified aircraft seemingly circling the city. While many of the city’s residents have heard the craft, few have actually seen it. The aircraft mostly flies at night seemingly without navigation lights, and many eyewitnesses report a strange red glow coming from the craft, likely from the instrument panel. While most observers suspect the aircraft is operated by either the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canadian Security Intelligence, or Royal Canadian Air Force, but all agencies have denied any knowledge of the craft. What might the plane be doing up there, and who is behind this mysterious operation?

Kingston is found on the shores of Lake Ontario at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.

While we might not be any closer to answering those questions, the mystery aircraft has finally been caught on film. According to the Kingston Whig Standard, a “local aircraft enthusiast” spotted the craft on January 13 and managed to get a photo of it. Neil Aird, a member of the real-time flight-tracking site Flightradar24, says he was plane spotting when he heard the mystery craft and was lucky enough to catch a glimpse long enough to snap a photograph:

As an aircraft enthusiast, not being able to see the plane but constantly hear it really is annoying. t took me a while to get [the photo]. When I took that picture, I was actually looking for another aircraft, a [Bombardier] Dash 8, but then it flew across my binoculars and I thought: ‘Aha! Gotcha.’

Aird says the craft appears to be a Pilatus PC-12, a single-engine passenger and cargo aircraft, and operates under the call sign C-GMPB PC-12 according to his own personal radar. That call sign is consistent with the appearance of the craft and oddly enough, the RCMP owns one. Mystery solved?

Not quite. A spokesperson for Kingston’s Norman Rogers Airport says they don’t know anything about the craft, and when asked for comment the RCMP issued another vague boilerplate statement in which they neither confirm nor deny the craft:

The RCMP’s primary concern is the safety and security of Canadians. We have multiple aircraft that support our mandate in Ontario and elsewhere in the country. To maintain the integrity of our investigations and operations, the location of our aircraft is not disclosed. We therefore have no additional information to share with you at this time.

It certainly seems as if someone is flying around in one of the RCMP’s aircraft, but what’s it doing up there? What’s going on in Kingston, Ontario that would require such secrecy?
