While searching through the ESA index (European Space Administration) I found something that the ESA misidentified as an explosion on the dark side of Earths moon. I say misidentified, because they believe it to be a meteor impacting with the moon, but when I made a close up of the object...it looks more like a huge metallic craft. As you see from the screenshot above, it doesn't look like an explosion on the moon. Its looks like an alien craft powering up to go somewhere. Strange they misidentified it...but I believe they were just trying to cover it up.
I was searching through the JSC.NASA index at some photos of the orbiting module from the Apollo 7 mission and noticed a large bat shaped craft in the distance. The object has a dark red hue to it and seems to be thinner in its center area. The NASA module is very far away from it and the original is fuzzy from poor lighting, so I believe that the person taking the photos was not aware of the UFO. The mission took place in Oct of 1968, so I am a bit surprised at the high quality photos. This was however the only photo of the UFO. I check the photos before and right after and found nothing out of the ordinary. This is absolute proof that alien species are out there...watching humanities space programs.

Note peter2011: I looked up these videos and found that this phenomenon has been occurring in Mexico for years ... I even found a video from 2004 and the similarity of the images is striking! I rather think in the direction of a natural phenomenon, which has to do with the annual migration of birds, etc. Chinese balloons, I don't think so ... The more we learn about the extinct predecessors to modern humans called the Denisovans (Homo Denisova), the more amazing they become. First discovered in the Siberian Denisova Cave, their remains have now been positively identified in the Baishiya Karst Cave in Tibet, showing this cold weather species didn’t mind heights or thin air either. Even more interesting, the proof did not come from the piece of jawbone found in the cave.
“We detected ancient human fragments that matched mitochondrial DNA associated with Denisovans in four different layers of sediment deposited around 100,000 and 60,000 years ago.”
In a new paper published in the journal Science, Bo Li, co-author and dating specialist from the University of Wollongong in Australia, reveals that mitochondrial DNA was found in multiple layers of the soil in Baishiya Karst Cave, indicating the Denisovans had lived there for quite a while. An international team, including archaeologists, geologists and geneticists from China, Germany, the US and Australia, found charcoal from fires, bones from rhinos and hyenas, and over 1,000 stone tools dating from 190,000 to 45,000 years ago. Mitochondrial DNA is inherited from the mother and can tell who the Denisovan was related to on the maternal side. That’s where the find yielded another surprise.
“Interestingly, we found that the hominin DNA from 60,000 years ago share the closest genetic relationship to the Denisova 3 and 4 specimens sampled from Denisova Cave [in Siberia]. In contrast, the DNA dating to 100,000 years ago show evidence that those Denisovans separated earlier from the lineage leading to Denisova 3 and 4.”
Li tells Cosmos how the different layers yielded different lineages from the Denisovans in Siberia and showed how long they lived there and how often they moved around … In this case, a long way from Denisova cave and 2 miles above sea level. Furthermore, the age of the tools indicate they may have lived there even longer. Sediment possibly from as late as 30,000 years ago appears to have unconfirmed mitochondrial DNA, making it possible that the Denisovans could have share the cave with early modern humans, who first appeared in Tibet about 40,000 years ago.
While is the first confirmed evidence of Denisovan DNA in Tibet, it’s no secret that they got around and highly likely they mated with humans. There is evidence of Denisovan DNA in modern humans ranging from southeast Asia to China and Mongolia to Australia and Papua New Guinea. However, so little physical evidence of them has been found that virtually nothing of their lives is known, including when and why they disappeared, and what made them so darned sexually attractive to humans and Neanderthals.
That, as always, means more studies.

UFO accounts come to us from around the world, from every corner of the globe. They largely serve to incite wonder and discussion, but rarely provide any real answers. The point is that UFO sightings are a global phenomenon, and one place that is not really covered so much in the lore is the country of New Zealand. Yet, here we have plenty of UFO cases just like anywhere else, and one of the strangest flaps of sightings unfolded here back in the 1970s, and it is a case steeped in strange encounters, pilot reports, and talk of ominous government cover ups.
What would go on to become perhaps New Zealand’s most famous UFO event began on December 21, 1978, when the crew of a Safe Air Ltd cargo aircraft was traveling from Woodbourne bound for Christchurch aboard their Armstrong Whitworth AW.660 Argosy aircraft. As they approached the Clarence River area, near the remote Kaikoura mountain ranges at around 2 AM, they began to pick up a series of inexplicable radar signatures that did not fit any aircraft they knew of and which they could not explain. As pilots Vern Powell and Ian Pirie stared at the radar screen trying to figure out just what they were looking at, visual confirmation was made, and it came in the form of a group of mysterious lights that began to flicker and dance around the plane almost as if toying with them. One of the UFOs was described as being very large, with five white flashing lights, while others seemed to be smaller, with one of them being “pear-shaped with a reddish tinge that then turned white.” Some of the crew were sure that some of the smaller objects had dropped off the larger one.
The spooked crew called it in to the air traffic controller radar in Wellington, who confirmed that they had also picked up the strange radar hits, and insisted there were not supposed to be any other aircraft in the area. These lights reportedly trailed the plane for over 60 kilometers, before suddenly blinking out and appearing in another location far away, as if they had teleported. After that, they flew off and vanished for good, leaving the pilots and ground control perplexed as to what had just occurred. The same plane would see the lights again 2 hours later along its route, with the UFOs this time seeming to travel about in huge, inscrutable rectangular patterns. It would turn out that the crew of the Argosy and ground control were not the only ones who had seen something odd in the skies on that night. There would turn out to be dozens of people on the ground calling in to report UFO sightings at the same time, to the point that the jittery Air Force even put an Air Force Skyhawk jet on standby just in case it was needed to engage or move in to investigate any of these aerial phenomena, and all of these sightings would only continue into the coming days.
The Kaikoura region
On December 30, 1978, an Australian television crew was flying in another Argosy when they saw a cluster of four or five lights near the Kaikoura Peninsula, dominated by one especially bright, flashing white light. At this time the objects were tracked by Wellington Air Traffic Controllers, and the crew even used their camera to take color footage of the mysterious objects. The objects seemed to be following the plane, and when they came in for a landing at Christchurch the crew was unsettled to realize that one was still on their tail, only breaking off right as they were about to land. When the plane later took off again, they would encounter an immense orb of light, which proceeded to follow them for nearly a half an hour as they gawked at and filmed it. One journalist aboard, a Quentin Fogarty, would say of the surreal situation:
On the flight down, what we basically saw were pinpricks of light that turned into great globes of light, and they were airborne, and they were between us and the coast because we could see the coast and we could see the sea, and we could see these things shining down.
An Air Force Orion on a reconnaissance flight to Kaikoura on January 2 would also report encountering strange lights in the sky in the region, and this was enough to convince the New Zealand Air Force, as well as the Civil Aviation Authority and the Defence Ministry, that an investigation was needed. And so it was that the Prime Minister of the time, Robert Muldoon, would launch one of the first serious investigations into the UFO phenomenon that New Zealand had ever seen. The results were perhaps for UFO enthusiasts, disappointing. The Air Force seemed hellbent on fitting and stuffing it all of it into conventional explanations, writing it all off as the lights of trains, cars, or even squid boats refracted off of clouds, “freak propagation” of radio and light waves, large aircraft or a meteorological balloon catching the sunlight at high altitude, unburnt meteors, and of course the planet Venus, all helped along by “spurious” radar returns. Wing Commander J B Clements would state:
Almost all the sightings can be explained by natural but unusual phenomena. Defence should issue a PR statement fairly soon in order to tone down much of the wild speculation that has existed over recent weeks. Perhaps the most difficult aspect to explain away is the apparent concern – even apprehension – of the aircrew involved in the sightings. At present they do not seem to be prepared to accept the fact that they might have observed Venus. Thankfully, however neither do they believe that they saw a visitor from outer space.

These explanations have not gone down well with some of those who were actually involved. after all, these were trained pilots who should know what any of those natural phenomena would look like, and one of the witnesses has blown off the official prognosis, saying of the explanations given by the Air Force:
None of them to my knowledge or satisfaction have coordinated the visual sighting with the radar sighting. They’ve said the visual sighting was squid boats, it was Venus, it was Jupiter, it was the harbour lights. You name it, they can come up with all sorts of reasons for what it was. But they haven’t explained why I can see Jupiter, Venus and the harbour lights doing 140 knots on my radar.
It is all very odd, and has never been adequately explained. The New Zealand government has stuck to its guns that this is nothing more than mundane, explainable phenomena, and we are left to wonder. Is all of this just misunderstandings, Venus, and other aerial phenomena that can be explained away? Or is there something else going on here? We might not ever truly know the answers to these questions, and the Kaikoura Lights remain one of the most well-known and strangest UFO cases New Zealand has ever seen.

Egypt Wings
Derik Tyler writes. From an ancient Egyptian temple is a drawing of a craft. The white dots on the spacecraft represent what appeared to be flashbulbs popping off at random intervals and locations all over the body of the craft. Perhaps airships or balloons were used in ancient times to lift giant stones. Even our best engineers have been stumped of how to transport 50 ton stones from the quarries in Southern Egypt 500 miles to the Giza Pyramids near Cairo. Lighter than air-ships can carry a tremendous amount of weight. The Gods Isis and the Sky God Nut were depicted with wings indicating flight. Engineering studies indicate the stones used to build the pyramids were thought to be too heavy to be carried on Egyptian boats. The largest boats were 30 meters long with 30 rowers and most were made from reeds. However, the blocks of stones might have been lifted above the boats in lighter than air craft. The boats could provide the propulsion with oars or sail and pull the craft along above them.

If the ancients realized hot air balloons, or lighter than air balloons filled with hydrogen, helium, or natural gas abundant in Egypt could lift tons of weight they could have floated huge blocks of stone into place. These are a few of the wings found throughout ancient Egypt. Is it possible they represent a kind of dirigible that could lift great weight? Airship designers often conservatively estimate helium’s lift at 60 lbs per 1,000 cubic feet and hydrogen’s lift at 68 lbs per 1,000 cubic feet.
Contrary to what evolutionists claim, the history of mankind is full of proofs that ancient peoples possessed far superior technologies than had been believed. The Egyptians used torches for light and had dark and white light that likely used batteries. One of these proofs is the Ancient Egyptians’ knowledge of electricity and likely used a filament like flash light bulb as shown in the sculpture from the Dendera Temple.
In a documentary on ABC this lighting system was tested by scientists in front of cameras and success was achieved and light obtained. This is basically a huge light bulb that worked through the technique shown in the ancient Egyptian wall painting.
The lift would best be obtained with hydrogen inside large balloons or dirigibles. The hydrogen atom is nothing more than a single proton, captured in a cloud of negative charge from the electrons surrounding whatever compound it’s part of. When you use electricity to split water, you send an electron from the battery down into the water, where it finds a water molecule, rips off a proton, and the proton and electron combine to form a hydrogen atom. You’re making the atoms up pretty much from scratch, no accelerator or nuclear reactor required, just a battery, and ancient batteries have been found.
Cylinder Shaped UFOs

The commander of the Strategic Command, the military unit in charge of nuclear war fighting, said China is in the midst of a major nuclear buildup that wills double the size of its nuclear warhead stockpile, currently assessed as in the low 200s, over the next 10 years.
China has long said it would not be the first to use nuclear arms in a conflict, but its buildup of forces appears to be preparing for a launch-on-warning capability similar to that of the United States and Russia.
Adm. Charles A. “Chas” Richard, the Stratcom commander, spoke with reporters this week and questioned whether the “no first use” pledge is a strategic deception by Beijing.
“As a military commander, what I look at more is another nation’s capabilities, less about what their stated intentions are, and I see China developing a stack of capabilities that would be inconsistent with a no first use policy,” he said. Chinese nuclear forces “certainly have the capabilities to execute any number of deterrent or employment strategies that are seemingly inconsistent with a no first use policy.”
China has deployed thousands of long-range missiles in a variety of basing modes, including in silos, on road- and rail-mobile launchers, and on submarines.
Beijing, according to the Pentagon’s latest annual report on the Chinese military, is also developing a bomber-launched ballistic missile. A new DF-41 missile is being deployed with multiple, independently targetable reentry vehicles, or MIRVs.
CHAPTER 13: ENEMY ATTACK AND UFO POTENTIAL FEW RESIDENTS of the United States, except for those in Hawaii, have experienced an enemy attack on their hometown in this century; some think they have.
The Great Los Angeles Air Raid of February 26, 1942, began at 2:25 A.M. when the U.S. Army announced the approach of hostile aircraft and the cities air raid warning system went into effect for the first time in World War II. “Suddenly the night was rent by sirens. Searchlights began to sweep the sky. Minutes later gun crews at Army forts along the coast line began pumping the first of 1,433 rounds of ack-ack into the moonlight.
Thousands of volunteer air raid wardens tumbled from their beds and grabbed their boots and helmets. Citizens awakened to the screech of sirens and, heedless of the blackout warning began snapping on their lights. The din continued for two hours. Finally the guns fell silent. The enemy, evidently, had been routed. Los Angeles began to taste the exhilaration of its first military victory. ”
THE UFO THREAT–A FACT In this chapter we will now turn our attention to the very real threat posed by Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), whether they exist or not. The well-documented and highly publicized War of the Worlds radio drama by Orson Welles shows how even a perceived existence to alien creatures can cause very real disaster-like conditions and panic among a given populace. In addition, if the apparent visits by alien beings and their space vehicles should pose any type of threat, it will, as always, be the fire service that is called upon to provide the first line of life-saving defense and disaster mitigation.
On April 25, 1991, radio station KSHE in St. Louis, Missouri. Was fined $25,000 by the Federal Communications Commission for broadcasting a mock warning of a nuclear attack during the Persian Gulf War. The seriousness with which the FCC treated this case is indicative of the very real panic that can be created from even illusionary or fictional phenomena. Certainly if these unexplainable events become more prevalent, the possibility of panic could be even greater; and again, the fire department will be the agency called upon to handle the situation. Hence, as we near the year 2000 and move beyond, any comprehensive disaster plan should address the potential for panic and other deleterious effects that might befall a populated area when unexplainable phenomena occur.
We will see, as we continue our discussion in this chapter, that widespread blackouts, communication disruptions, and other potentially disastrous conditions have been linked directly to UFO sightings. Hence, fire service leaders who want to ensure that their disaster planning is complete will not neglect an appendix to outline those things that could be done in preparation for the occurrence of such phenomena.
Throughout this book, many of the references to actual events are based on the experiences of both of the authors. However, in this area of UFOs and their potential, we are relying largely on the research and experiences of Charles Bahme. Chuck has made a considerable study of this subject and is acquiring many publications and VCR tapes to augment his library on this and related phenomena. His interest in UFOs was greatly heightened when Congress in 1969 adopted a law (14 CFR Ch. V Part 1211- Extraterrestrial Exposure) which gave the NASA Administrator the arbitrary discretion to quarantine under armed guard any object, person, or other form of life which has been extraterrestrially exposed.
The very fact that our congressmen believed there was a necessity for such drastic authority made Chuck wonder if they had only our astronauts in mind when they adopted it. Could it be applied to anyone who has had a UFO encounter? Whether it has or not is not likely to be a topic for public dissemination.
UFO Discussion–Why Now? The subject of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) was not included in previous editions of this book. The first edition was the Handbook of Disaster Control which Chuck personally published in 1952 following his release from active naval duty in the Korean War. Although his services in the conflict as Security Coordinator for the Chief of Naval Operations involved the creation of a worldwide disaster control organization for the protection of the physical properties of the Navy, it must be admitted that the directives approved for this new organization did not reflect any significant concern for a flying saucer threat to its shore establishment. That was in the 1950s. Now that we are in the 1990s it is doubtful that the UFO potential would be brushed off so lightly by our military security forces. This change of attitude was evidenced as far back as December 24, 1959, when the Inspector General of the Air Force issued the following Operations and Training Order: “Unidentified Flying Objects–sometimes treated lightly by the press and referred to as ‘Flying Saucers’–must be rapidly and accurately identified as serious Air Force business….”
There is no uncertainty about the reality of the war between nations on our planet and the disastrous effects of military actions. The 200 sorties flown every hour against Iraq in the Persian Gulf provided ample evidence of global war’s destructive power. On the other hand, there are many persons who may believe that a discussion of the theoretical harm that could be caused by a real or imaginary invasion of UFOs would be ‘far out!” But this is not so for the thousands of witnesses of unexplained aerial phenomena. To them it is also serious business. Chuck’s interest in UFOs commenced during the early morning hours of August 26, 1942, while he was roller skating from his house to the nearest fire station a few blocks away; the wail of sirens had signaled his recall to fire duty, and with the stringent blackout orders in effect. Driving was not wise; besides, it was much more exciting to be out in the open where he could see the spectacular aerial “fireworks” that filled the heavens all around him. Few residents of the U.S. had ever experienced a real or imaginary invasion of UFOs like that which occurred in what has become known as “The Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942.” The Army announced the approach of hostile aircraft and the city’s air raid warning system went into effect for the first time in World War II. The defense to this “attack” is described in dramatic terms in the opening paragraph of this chapter.
But what enemy had been routed? No one ever knew. All the fire fighters saw in the sky were the 15 or 20 moving “things” which seemed to change course at great speed apparently unaffected by the flak from bursting shells all around them. Rumors that one had been shot down were never verified, nor was the explanation that these zig-zagging invaders were weather balloons ever taken seriously. In any event, for Chuck, that unforgettable episode aroused a continuing interest in UFOs, rivaling his professional fields of law and fire protection. The fact that he subsequently was a member of a group whose sighting of a flight of UFOs was authenticated by airport radar helped to sustain that interest.
UFO Background Information With no intention of trying to prove or disprove the authenticity of the numerous UFO encounters often related by very credible witnesses including airline and military pilots, astronauts, police officers, fire fighters, members of Congress, and even a U.S. President, the balance of this chapter will present a brief history and nature of UFOs and their alleged occupants; their widespread sightings over the globe since ancient times; their appearance, propulsion origin, and possible motives for continuing reconnaissance. A quick look at some of the classic accounts of encounters documented in numerous foreign and U.S. publications might help us judge the magnitude of their threat, if any, to social stability, and, if deemed desirable, propose a fire service plan for coping with some of the conceivable catastrophic effects that UFOs could produce on cities and densely populated areas.
For readers who already have made up their minds that there is no such thing as a UFO notwithstanding the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, it should be pointed out that there is circumstantial evidence that disastrous effects have already been attributed to UFO activity in more than one nation, including the United States.
UFOs–What Are They? William Shakespeare put a fitting observation in the mouth of Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark that went like this: “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamed of in your philosophy.” Whether Hamlet was referring to those strange lights or objects that appear in the sky or near the ground and have no known cause, we will never know, but the World Book Encyclopedia defines such things as UFOs. Several theories have been propounded as to what they might be. Some scientists believe that they are of extraterrestrial origin–coming from other planets. Military officers conjecture that they might be alien aircraft. Some attribute them all to natural causes, such as meteors, comets, sundogs, light reflections, marsh gas, ball lightning, even though they must admit that scientists cannot explain all UFO reports in that manner. Still others are inclined to believe that they may be forms from other dimensions which can materialize and dematerialize at will perhaps by making a wavelength or frequency transition so as to become invisible to humans. Some believe they are time travelers from the future.
UFO Classification System Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Northern University Professor Emeritus of Astronomy and an advisor to the Air Force’s Blue Book Project. Adopted a very simple classification system based solely upon the manner of observation:
1. Nocturnal lights
2. Daylight disks
3. Close encounters (day or night)
4. Radar readings.
He concluded that this system tells us nothing about the nature of the UFOs, but can suggest a means for gathering data. He found that while a large number of such reports were readily identifiable by trained investigators as misconceptions of known objects or events, a small residue (about 1.000) were not. These came from credible witnesses from such widely separated places as Canada. Australia. South America and Antarctica. He concludes with: “Although I know of no hypothesis that adequately covers the mountainous evidence, this should not and must not deter us from following the advice of Schroedinger: to be curious, capable of being astonished, and eager to find out. “Dr. Hynek has an excellent, well-illustrated article on UFOs in a 1982 book which gives a detailed history of the UFO sightings, together with the reports of some well-known people who made them, including President Jimmy Carter while governor of Georgia. Witnesses have described the shapes of UFOs as anything varying from a sphere to a boomerang. Some have resembled flying saucers with a lid; others a glowing tube; some as semi-spherical with colored apertures; some with reddish-orange glows, or fire-like or sparking discharges. Incredible speed and maneuverabilities not attainable by aircraft of any kind are commonly observed. Many of the books and articles in Appendix H have excellent photographs of these unexplained visitors–photos that have been checked by experts for their authenticity.
HISTORY OF UFOs
For hundreds of years mysterious objects in the sky and strange moving lights have been reported by many people, including the military pilots in World War II who called them foo fighters, (“Where there’s Foo, there’s Fire”). In the middle of the 1900s flying saucers were increasingly observed in the United States and other countries. Scientists at the University of Colorado hired by the Air Force from 1966 to 1968 to study this type of aerial phenomena could explain most of the UFO reports as a star (Venus), meteor, planet, balloon, rocket, artificial satellite, etc. Sometimes atmospheric conditions, aircraft exhaust trails, or unusual lighting conditions may produce optical illusions that observers thought were UFOs. After investigating more than 12,000 reports, the U.S. Air Force was unable to explain where the unexplained UFOs come from, but apparently concluded that the national security was not threatened by them. The emphasis of the university’s team, headed by Edward U. Condon, seemed to be more concerned with the establishment of the emotional stability or instability of those who reported the sightings than with other evidence.
Psychiatrists have examined the witnesses who claimed to have encountered UFOs and even been taken aboard their craft, such as the two shipyard workers in Mississippi, and found that they are not unbalanced people. “They’re not crackpots. There was definitely something here that was not terrestrial.” Dr. J. Allen Hynek agreed, and added. “Where they are coming from and why they are here is a matter of conjecture. But the fact that they were here on this planet is beyond a reasonable doubt.”
UFO Disk
The Air Force after 20 years of being deluged with UFO sightings and spending millions of dollars on their investigation, decided to drop the inquiry business and turned the project over to a Kensington, Maryland, group called NICAP (National Investigation Committee on Aerial Phenomena). This left NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) with part of the task of trying to run UFO sighting reports, including many by its own Apollo and Skylab astronauts. By 1974 over a score of astronauts saw and photographed UFOs during their flights beyond the earth’s atmosphere.
Early in the Apollo 11 mission, which culminated in the moon walk, astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, and Michael Collins reported sightings of what seemed to be a UFO during the first half of their flight to the lunar surface. There were many more sightings by U.S. and Soviet Astronauts. On November 11,1966, Gemini XII astronauts Jim Lovell and Edwin Aldrin said that they saw four UFOs linked together, and on October 12, 1964, three Russian astronauts aboard Voskod reported that they were surrounded by a “formation of fast-moving disc-shaped objects.”
UFO Organizations In addition to NICAP, some of the other organizations that study UFO phenomena are MUFON (Mutual UFO Networks), CAUS (Citizens Against UFO Secrecy), GSW (Ground Saucer Watch), CUFOS (the Center for UFO Studies), and APRO (Aerial Phenomena Research Organization), an Arizona nonprofit scientific and educational organization, founded in 1952.
Why the Secrecy?
In their book UFOs Over America, authors Jim and Carol Lorenzo charge that the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) has been closely involved in the collection and suppression of UFO information. “Witnesses to the phenomena have been bribed, coerced, and threatened by the CIA, who wanted valuable evidence given to them alone.” One reason given is that military intelligence may view the UFOs as a tool of either a known or unknown potential enemy. “If these vehicles prove evasive and surreptitious, all the more reason to suspect them…. the probability looms large that the minds behind these vehicles may well be gathering intelligence of their own.”
Another reason for secrecy may lie in the hope of obtaining knowledge relating to advanced propulsion methods and anti-gravity systems before other potential enemies on earth may acquire it. Hence, though many nations are secretly investigating UFOs, they are reluctant to share their findings.
Robert Lofton, in his book Identified Flying Saucers, claims that the Air Force became the “goat” in the effort of the CIA to debunk many sightings by pilots, radar technicians and reliable civilian observers. He thinks that the suppression of information about how dangerous UFOs can be is wrong. After citing a case where a child was burned over 50 to 60 percent of her body by a low flying UFO and then taken to an Air Force hospital, no one would explain why her clothes were not burned at the same time. He also describes another burn case in New Mexico and another man who recently received a sledge-hammer like blow that knocked him unconscious by the force field of a 100-foot diameter UFO. “The public ought to be told the danger! .. . . Nothing helps rumors and panic more than ignorance.” Major Donald Keyhoe describes in his book Aliens from Space, The Real Story of Unidentified Flying Objects the difficulties he had in 1957 in trying to get the truth from government agencies after he was director of NICAP, the world’s largest UFO research organization with over 30 subcommittees in the U.S. and abroad. According to some UFOlogists the attempts at cover-up by the CIA extend to destruction of evidence that it could not confiscate. Apparently some of our nation’s important leaders have been denied access to some UFO secrets in the possession of an agency of the United States, the very existence of which is classified above top secret. Senator Barry Goldwater, a retired Air Force Reserve Brigadier General and pilot with many decades of flying experience, was quoted as saying “I certainly believe in aliens in space.
They may not look like us, but I have very strong feelings that they have advanced beyond our mental capabilities.” He said he was refused permission to check the Air Force files on UFOs and added, “I think some highly secret government UFO investigations are going on that we don’t know about–and probably never will unless the Air Force discloses them.” He said that he put faith in the reports of the Air Force, Navy, and commercial pilots who reported instances where a UFO would fly near them–right off their plane’s wing–and then just zoom away at incredible speeds. “I remember the case in Georgia in the 1950s of a National Guard plane going after a UFO and never returning. And I recall the case in Franklin. Kentucky, when four military planes investigated a UFO. One of them exploded in midair and no one knows why.” Unleashed by the policy of Glasnost (greater openness) the Soviet media felt free to include accounts of UFO sightings. A Tuss report of October 10, 1989, reported a large shiny ball or disk hovering over a Voronezh park; residents saw the UFO land and three creatures similar to human beings emerged, accompanied by a robot.
Apparently the Russians felt no need to suppress this report which was poked fun at in Newsweek and Time magazines but not in U.S. News and World Report: “A scant few decades ago, both the U.S. government and the media treated flying objects as no laughing matter–which even Congress looked into. In 1966, Representative Ford responded to a rash of sightings in his home state of Michigan by calling for, and getting, a House hearing on UFOs.”
UFO Fire Like one in Peru
UFO Missions Many reasons have been advanced for the purpose of the UFOs visits to our planet. Although some of the persons who apparently have been the subjects of genetic investigation, such as the family of Whitley Streiber may not agree, the majority of those who have studied possible UFO visitors feel that they are friendly. Mr. Streiber described his experience as terrifying, and believes that these “little figures with eyes that seem to stare into the deepest core of being are asking for something. Whatever it is, it is more than simple information. The goal does not seem to be a sort of clear and open exchange that we might expect; whatever may be surfacing, it wants far more than that. It seems to me that it seeks the very depth of soul; it seeks communion.”
From the thousands of reports he has studied. William Spaulding, aerospace engineer and head of the Arizona-based Ground Saucer Watch, believes that a pattern indicates that UFOs are here on a surveillance mission: the fact that a majority of sightings occur around our military installations, research and development areas leads to the conclusion that a methodical study is being made of the earth and its defensive and offensive capabilities. “The phenomena are not unlike our own space explorations: scout ship survey: soil samples; landing.” In his book Incident at Exeter, John Fuller discusses the seeming affinity of UFOs for electrical power lines in the northeastern part of the United States. In a later section of this chapter dealing with the effects of UFOs on our terrestrial activities, we will see how this affinity may have been responsible for causing 36 million people to lose power over an area of 8,000 square miles.
Because of our recent adventures into space, there are some who speculate that UFOs are more concerned with what we will do there than in settling here. In any event, the Air Force’s official publication (issued by the Government Printing Office 1968) called Flying Objects says that ‘No UFO has been determined to represent a threat to our national security. ‘That conclusion, however, should not rule out less disastrous consequences than the overthrow of our government.
Hunter Biden Frequently Discusses Their Business with Joe Biden

The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs confirmed that it has reached out to Tony Bobulinski regarding his connection to Hunter Biden and Joe Biden. On Thursday, Bobulinski released a statement to multiple media outlets describing his business ties to the Bides and obtaining millions from various countries and more than a billion from Chiai.
“The committee is working to validate information being revealed by multiple sources. As part of those efforts, we have reached out to several individuals named in recently revealed emails, including Tony Bobulinski. We look forward to their cooperation in helping us uncover the truth,” a spokesperson for the committee told Newsweek on Thursday. The FBI has Hunter’s computer that has tapes of dealings with China’s spymaster.
Bobulinski, who claims to be supportive of Democrats, was the recipient of a May 2017 email reported by the New York Post last week. That email, which was reportedly from a business associate of Hunter Biden, outlined “renumeration [sic] packages” for a Chinese venture. The email laid out how equity would be distributed under a provisional agreement, representing “10” going to Hunter “for the big guy.” In a Thursday statement to the New York Post and Fox News, Bobulinski said that the “big guy” was a reference to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Brownsville – On October15, 1985, on a clear spring day just before sunset, the three witnesses were driving west along Highway 20 below Camptonville. As we rounded a sharp curve, we came upon three silver discs landed in a field to the right of the road. I pulled onto the right shoulder just as the large discs suddenly shot upward in powerful ascent. I felt compelled to jump out of the car and starred excitedly up at the saucers.I felt elated and awe-struck. I estimate the size of each disc to have been between 50 and 75 feet in diameter. Above us, the discs blocked out most of the sky. They appeared quite solid and metallic, with very definite mechanical features – including a central opening from which a powerful conical beam projected straight down from each disc. The beam color was brilliant bluish-white, and we were washed with the light, yet could still see the features beneath the discs. I don’t recall any sound, but there might have been a wind – those details have grown very fuzzy over the 35 years since the encounter. I do recall that the three discs were locked into a tight triangular formation, with one disc forming an apex above the other two.
When the discs reached above a hundred feet overhead, they briefly hovered. Then all together, they tilted about 45 degrees and shot off toward the south, which took them straight across the highway and over above the Feather River Canyon, which we overlooked out to our left. As the craft traveled over the canyon, the conical beams appeared to light up a big portion of the valley – the beams would have to have been extremely powerful. When the objects reached an angle of what might have been 60 degrees in the sky over to our left, they abruptly vanished, leaving three glowing purple clouds where each disc had disappeared. Those clouds remained visible and softly glowing for the entire half-hour that it took us to complete our drive home to Forbestown, where we were temporarily staying at the time. It should be noted that I am aware of a considerable amount of amnesia and possible abduction both during and after the encounter.

Concord– On October24, 2020, Driving north on RT89N between exits 2 and 3, between Silk Farm Rd and bridge over Turkey Pond/Little Turkey Pond, with my 16-year-old daughter. I noticed a row of lights approximately 20-25 degrees above the horizon (presumably, it being dark at the time of sighting) just to the right of straight ahead of my direction of travel. My first thought was the Starlink satellites, though I noticed no motion in the lights and they appeared to be wrapped around the edges of what would have been a circular something. The lights appeared evenly-spaced along a slightly tilted horizontal axis. Observation lasted only 30seconds to 1min. We attempted to keep it in sight, but found that impossible on a relatively busy highway. The last I saw of whatever this was, it appeared that it may have been obscured by a cloud. Weather conditions were mostly clear with some scattered clouds; half moon present to our left (roughly south) during the observation.
y daughter managed to take several photos with her iPhone 8, which surprised me a bit given oncoming headlights, taillights of the cars ahead of us, etc. The images are blurry (taken through the car’s dirty windshield), but the object is obvious in them. Given the local terrain, I imported the images into “Photos” on my iMac and looked at the GPS stamps on them for the possible presence of skiing mountains or other topography in the area. I wondered if a lit access road or mountaintop could be an explanation, but other than Mt. Sunapee in the area (no night skiing or other mountaintop lights that I’m aware of), there was nothing obvious. Using Google maps street view of the area of the sighting in the direction it occurred also left me with no obvious possibilities

Visuele waarneming van onbekend vliegend toestel gecatalogeerd door Belgisch Ufo Netwerk als *fel licht in de lucht*. Gelijktijdige registratie van abnormaal hoge magnetische veldsterkte in het Aardmagnetisch meetstation op een afstand van ca 1000m van de visuële waarnamingsplaats
Uit de ter beschikking staande gegevens opgenomen tijdens een interview van mijzelf en de heer W.P van het Belgische Ufo Netwerk van de waarnemer Mevr. P.H.werd het mogelijk tot een identificatie over te gaan van het waargenomen toestel als zijnde een cylindervormige UFO.
Uit het op magneetband opgenomen verhoor blijkt het volgende te zijn gebeurd:
Een vanuit de verte toekomend fel licht komt overgevlogen in een rechte lijn onder een hoek van 225 graden .Tijdens de passage over de woning werden volgende opmerkelijke details waargenomen: groot langwerpig toestel ,geluidsloos zonder kenmerken van een vliegtuig en aan de zijkant een aantal lichten ,aantal groter dan 2 en kleiner dan 10 De tijdens het overvliegen bekomen vluchtgegevens zijn bepaald uit metingen uit schijnbare hoek en hoogte ( bekende methode uit astronomisch onderzoek) en uit de metingen van schijnbare grootte op het einde van de waarneming.
Uit extrapolatie op kaart van de omgeving is tevens gebleken dat het toestel zou genaderd zijn tot op een 500 m van het meetstation. Toepassing van de wet op de verzwakking in functie van de afstand voor magnetische verschijnselen en aanname van een bronniveau van ongeveer 100 Tesla ( bevestigd uit de literatuur uit metingen van polarisatieringen rond een optredend magnetische bron) zijn de gemeten piekwaarden van 60µT in overeenstemming met de genoemde verzwakkingswet.
Het destijds optredend probleem van 2 pieken in de registratie is eerst later uit de aanname van een cylindrische vorm , zoals gemeld uit de visuele waarneming, gebleken dat het inderdaad moest gaan om een UFO met cylindervorm uitgerust met 2 bronnen De bevestiging van deze aanname is er gekomen uit documenten op het einde van WO2 gevonden door de amerikaanse strijdkrachten in het archief van de vergeldingswapens onder andere de gegevens van het *Andromeda Gerät * . Het betreft hier duidelijk om een cylindervormig toestel met 2 aparte bronnen, bedoeld als carrier voor schijfvormige ufo´s Het bestaan van 2 bronnen is essentieel voor de propulsiemethode te weten dat de nodige antigravitatieëffecten wordt bekomen door middel van 2 tegengesteld roterende magnetische velden (zie US patent 20120105181A toegepast in de huidige carrier ruimtevloot en gebaseerd op het bekomen van neutrale gravitatie gebieden)
Conclusie:
Uitgaande van ALLE ter beschikking staande gegevens uit visuele waarneming en de magnetische registratie van het gelijktijdig fenomeen kunnen we afleiden dat het hier gaat om *een laag overvliegende UFO van het cylindertype*
Mijn interesse is lang geleden begonnen met een afbeelding van een vliegtuig dat blijkbaar zonder piloot afgebeeld was in het tijdschrift *Panorama* in de jaren* 50 . in de daarbij behorende tekst ging over een opgetreden UFO verschijnsel dat ervoor gezorgd had dat het toestel ongehavend op een vliegveld in Zwitserland aan de grond werd gezet. Het was toen een periode met veel warnemingen van de zogenaamde vliegende schotels met alle vreemde verhalen erbij. Ik was wel verrast zoals iedereen maar toch niet echt geboeid omwille van andere prioriteiten. In het jaar 1968 echter werd ik terug op het feit gedrukt dat vliegende schotels bestonden tijdens het installeren van een mazouttank aan mijn nieuw in aanbouw zijnde huis Het toestel vloog op grote hoogte en schitterde als een lichtgevende schijf in de zon , feit waardoor het me duidelijk werd dat die dingen bestonden.
Het werd me echter eerst menens in de jaren *70 .Ik heb toen in de volgende jaren wel alle uitgaven gelezen en ook gekocht die gepubliceerd werden in de Verenigde Staten . Alle mogelijke verhalen en ook meer serieuze publicaties van personen uit de Amerikaanse administratie en leger . In ons eigen land bestond toen Sobeps , een Franstalige vereniging , ik werd lid en was al snel geabonneerd op hun weliswaar verzorgd tijdschrift Inforespace.
Mettertijd begreep ik stilaan dat het verschijnselen zomaar niet te verklaren waren met de huidige kennis van zaken . In het buitenland groeiden ook de UFO verenigingen als paddestoelen uit de grond . Een aantal acties en onderzoeken van de Amerikaanse luchtmacht trokken al snel mijn aandacht en gaf me de indruk dat ze niet wisten wat ermee aan te vatten . Hun toestellen werden uitgerust met alle mogelijke meetapparaten om er achter te komen welke eigenschappen het fenomeen vertoonde Het viel me ook op dat in de massa UFO literatuur heel weinig technische en wetenschappelijke informatie te vinden was bij gebrek aan meetapparatuur; het was irriterend dat te constateren . Ik ging op zoek naar meer technische wetenschappelijke publicaties en heb die dan ook gevonden bij onze professor Auguste Meessen ( UCL) en bij de Franse onderzoekers J.P.Petit en Jacques Vallee. De publicaties van deze personen opende voor mij een wereld waar ik me meer thuis voelde. Voornamelijk de theoretische benadering van MHD propulsiewijze van Meessen en ook de practische proeven van J.P.Petit waren een schot in de roos
Ze bevonden zich op een terrein waar ik me meer thuis voelde omwille van mijn carriere die uitsluitend gebaseerd was in het onderzoek van electromagnetische verschijnselen ;
Gestimuleerd door het onderzoek van een aantal groepen zoals die van Ray Stanford in de VS die het fenomeen instrumenteel te lijf gingen ,was mijn aandacht getrokken op een detectiemogelijkheid met magnetometers. Een afspraak en een vruchtbaar gesprek met de chef van -en aansluitend bezoek aan het fysisch station voor aardveldmetingen van het KMI heeft er mij toe geleid om aan zelfbouw van een meetstation te beginnen . Met de gegevens van Dourbes en uit de technische literatuur is het mij gelukt een doeltreffend en wetenschappelijk verantwoord station te bouwen op basis van het ringkernmagnetometer principe.
De opstelling heeft gedurende 4 jaar dag en nacht de horizontale aardveldcomponente geregistreerd en het is in 2004 dat ik de mogelijkheid had om aan te tonen tijdens een zonneuitbarsting dat de meting identiek zowel als optredende pieken als tijdsverloop identiek waren aan die van Dourbes. De installatie kon dus probleemloos ,mits gereduceerde gevoeligheid , gebruikt worden voor detectie van UFOs in een straal van 10Km ;Het is met deze opstelling dat op 9 october 2008 de fameuze magnetische registraties zijn gebeurd.
Er was wel een groot probleem : de registratie toonde twee pieken en niet één enkele! Het is een e-mail ongeveer een week later van WvU van de vereniging Caelestia die opheldering van dit fenomeen bracht door de melding dat er een niet geidentificeerd voorwerp visueel was waargenomen door een dame wonende in de zelfde straat op op 1000m afstand van het meetstation;
Uit een onderzoek van de visuele waarneming door mezelf en WP van de vereniging waar de melding was binnengelopen bleek dat de beschrijving ging over een cylindervormig object
met ongekende vliegeigenschappen het ontbreken van enig geluid , geen vliegtuig vleugels , geen staartvlak kortom geen normaal vliegtuig maar eerder een cylinder- vormige UFO. Uit extrapollatie van de vliegroute op een omgevingskaart bleek dat het toestel op een afstand was gepasseerd van 500m als kortste afstand . Toepassing van de formule voor de berekening voor de derde machtsver-zwakking voor electromagnetische verschijselen geeft ons de te verwachte waarde voor de gemeten waarde van 60µT. Omwille van het feit dat beide verschijnselen zich hebben voorgedaan in het zelfde tijdsbereik is de conclusie duidelijk: het verschijnsel heeft de abnomale uitwijking veroorzaakt in de magnetische veldregistratie.
Het probleem van de opgetreden pieken in de registratie is uiteindelijk opgelost door aanname dat het om een cylinder Ufo ging met 2 afzonderlijke propulsiebronnen : de bevestiging van deze aanname is er gekomen uit documenten op het einde van WO2 gevonden door de Amerikaanse strijdkrachten in de archieven van de Duitse Vergeltunswaffen namelijk de opbouw van hun fameuze * Andromeda Gerät* Het betreft hier duidelijk een cylindervormig toestel met 2 afzonderlijk bronnen als propulsie methode
De noodzaak voor het gebruik van 2 bronnen voor dit type is de vinden in het recente US patent20120105181A .
Dit is het resultaat waar het mij uiteindelijk om te doen was: de mogelijkheid om met instrumentele middelen ook aan UFO detectie te doen met betaalbare middelen en een beetje gezond technisch wetenschappelijk inzicht
Ik denk hiermee een goede bijdrage te hebben geleverd aan het UFO onderzoek in het algemeen
en ga nu voor de nog resterende tijd me enkel nog uitsluitend bezighouden met de informatieve kant over het fenomeen ;

Zo zegt de Amerikaanse zangeres Miley Cyrus dat ze een ufo heeft gezien en zelfs een alien in de ogen heeft gekeken.
De bekende Amerikaanse zangers Miley Cyrus is op zijn zachtst uitgedrukt nogal een controversieel individu. “Never a dull” moment met Miley zou je kunnen zeggen en het is dan ook niet zo vreemd dat ze door velen wordt gezien als een Illuminati mind control slaaf.

Tijdens een interview wat ze onlangs gaf voor een Amerikaans tijdschrift kreeg ze de vraag of ze geloofde in buitenaards leven en vervolgens kwam ze met een heel interessant verhaal.
Ze vertelde dat ze een eigen ervaring had met een ufo waarneming, dat ze ervan overtuigd was dat ze werd achtervolgd door een ufo en dat ze zelfs oogcontact had gemaakt met een buitenaards iemand.
Miley zwakt haar verhaal af door te zeggen dat ze cannabis had gebruikt en dus ook niet meer helemaal zeker weet of hetgeen ze gezien heeft echt is.
Zo zei ze onder andere het volgende:
Ik heb zelf een ervaring gehad. Ik reed samen met mijn vriend door de San Bernadino Vallei (Californië) toen ik werden achternagezeten door een soort ufo. Ik ben er behoorlijk zeker van wat ik zag, maar ik had ook wiet gekocht, dus dat zou het ook geweest kunnen zijn.
De beste manier waarop ik de ufo kan beschrijven is als een soort vliegende sneeuwschuiver en het had een lichtgele gloeiende kleur. Ik was niet de enige die het zag, want mijn vriend zag het ook.
Er waren meer auto’s op de weg en die stopten om te kijken, dus ik denk dat wat ik zag echt was.
Ik ben dagenlang overstuur geweest en een tijdlang kon ik niet meer naar de lucht kijken omdat ik bang was dat ze terug zouden komen.
Op de vraag of ze zich bedreigd voelde, gaf ze het volgende antwoord:
Ik voelde mij eigenlijk helemaal niet bedreigd, maar ik zag iemand zitten vooraan in de ufo. Het wezen keek mij aan en wij hadden oogcontact. Waar ik het meest van overstuur was, is dat ik in de ogen keek van iets of iemand wat ik niet thuis kon brengen.
Het vreemde is dat ook Billy Ray Cyrus, de vader van Miley, een aantal jaren geleden een ervaring had met ufo’s.
Ufoloog Scott Waring noemt Miley Cyrus dapper omdat ze met dit verhaal naar buiten durft te komen. Bovendien wijst hij erop dat er over het algemeen veel ufo’s worden waargenomen in Californië.
Hij vertelt dan verder dan voormalig president Ronald Reagan gouverneur was van Californië toen hij twee keer een ufowaarneming heeft gedaan. De eerste keer was toen hij met zijn vrouw naar een feestje reed in Hollywood en dat zij toen de auto stopten omdat ze een ufo boven de oceaan zagen. De tweede keer was in 1974 toen hij een gloeiend licht zag vanuit zijn vliegtuig boven Bakersfield. Niet alleen Reagen zag dit object, maar ook zijn piloot.
Scott zegt dat ufo’s sneller kunnen vliegen dan het licht, waardoor ze ook aan tijdreizen kunnen doen. Ze kennen daarom de toekomst en het verleden en soms komen ze langs bij bekende figuren omdat die op een gegeven moment een belangrijke rol zullen spelen in de wereldgeschiedenis.
Hij wijst dan op Ronald Reagan die later president werd, maar ook op John Lennon die eveneens een ervaring had met een ufo. En vanuit die redenering komt hij tot de conclusie dat er wel eens een belangrijke rol voor Miley Cyrus kan zijn weggelegd.
Er zijn natuurlijk ook nog andere manieren om naar dit voorval te kijken, zeker vanuit het gezichtspunt dat Miley Cyrus een Illuminati slaaf is. Heeft zij opdracht gekregen om dit soort berichten wereldkundig te maken en zo ja waarom?
Of is het gewoon wat het lijkt. Een jonge vrouw die een bijzondere ervaring heeft wat allemaal niets te maken heeft met het feit dat ze een mind control slaaf is of een bekende zangeres?

Now watching this snake object in the sky makes me wonder...why does all UFOs have to look like disks or orbs? They don't, but we have conditioned ourselves to believe that alien craft are limited in their styles. This object does tighten and then loosen itself opening slightly as if it were alive or was controlled. The eyewitnesses description really grabs me. The part where he said, "I got my camera on them they appeared to stiffen up, picked a direction and then disappeared into the clouds." At that statement I knew...this is 100% an alien craft. UFOs often shoot into clouds to hide. As did this one. Case closed.

I was asked by a Youtube subscriber to think about the Apollo 20 and possibly make a video about it. So I did. It was a long time ago when I chatted with William Rutledge the astronaut that was part of the crew of the Apollo 20 mission. He was about 77 years old, living in Rewanda because he met a beautiful black woman and married here, but she died before him so he stayed in Rewanda as far as I know. When we chatted he kept saying that it may be dangerous posting his videos on YouTube...and he was right. His account was hacked and he got frightened...what 77 year old wouldn't right? Anyways he told me that the woman pilot they recoved from the long cigar ship in Delporte crater was taken back to the module, cleaned up and taken back to a military base on Earth. He said she is not dead, not alive...but in a coma or hibernation state even today. He said there were glass tunnels as big as his arm running up and down the sides of the cigar ship and inside they saw many tiny skeletons of a 2-3cm tall bipedal species. Hundreds he said. But the walkways were mainly made for taller species like humans. The woman pilot was connected to the ship when they found her, two hoses going from the controls into her nostrils...they cut those and took her away. They also saw some yellow rocks that seemed to make a liquid substance dripping slowly from them. He said like a living rock. He also mentioned that they found an even bigger triangle craft near the cigar ship. It had an opening in its outer hull as if someone had already broken into it to search for salvageable technology. Sadly, I have never heard from him or about him since 10-12 years ago. I think he put his best effort forward to get the evidence out and said the hell with it. He did say he got the movie reels from garbage bins near an airfield hanger. Him and another guy asked the security guard there if they could take some...the security guard didn't care, it was all going to be burned. So they took them, William had a few converted from reels to normal video so he could post them on Youtube. Thats it...many people lie and say its been debunked...but they never chatted with him like I did, they never even knew him when he was on Youtube back then. They judge without knowing the full truth. Apollo 20 was 100% real. It was a mission to recover alien technology in order to bring it home and keep American a world power. It worked.

Strange octagonal shaped anomaly stands still mid air over San Martin, CA
Astrange black octagonal shaped object with a hole in the middle has been observed in the sky over San Martin, California on November 1, 2020.
According to the photographer; if it was a balloon it will be moving but this object stands still mid air, it does not move at all. Later on in the footage the photographer suggests that it is a tire, but he is not sure.
Since the shape of the object is octagonal, it is very questionable whether it is a tire, moreover, like a balloon, a tire will be moving too but that does not happen. Mufon reporthere.
Possible ancient transport/transit hub found on planet Mars
The photograph analyzed here (ESP_013177_1800) was acquired by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter on 19 May 2009 and is described as 'Possible rootless cones in Hydraotes Chaos.'
The photograph analyzed by Jean Ward shows a strange anomaly that looks like a derelict structure partially buried in sand.
It consists of what appears to be a large ring supported by beams and a long bridging part extends from the middle outward with smaller "L"-shaped parts branching off.
It reminds me of modern/futuristic transport/transit hubs found here on Earth. It may be that this spot was indeed a hub used by Martians before the planet was destroyed by a nuclear catastrophe in the distant past?

SpaceX's next-generation Starship system may help clean up Earth orbit when it's not taking people to the moon and Mars.
Starship is at the heart of SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk's longtime Mars-colonization goal, and he has said that he envisions the rocket-spaceship duo eventually shouldering the company's entire spaceflight load.
If all goes according to plan, Starship'smany tasks will include launching people to far-flung cosmic locales and on superfast "point-to-point" trips here on Earth, carryingsatellites into orbit and — perhaps — collecting and de-orbiting particularly big and troublesome pieces of space junk.
SpaceX president and chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell highlighted that potential cleanup role recently. During an online "Time 100 Talks" interview with Time Magazine that was posted on Oct. 22, she said that "it's quite possible that we could leverage Starship to go to some of some of these dead rocket bodies — other people's rockets, of course — basically, go pick up some of this junk in outer space."
The "of course" in that last sentence is a nod to Starship's planned reusability, which will be total. The system's giant rocket, known as Super Heavy, will return to Earth for a vertical landing after launching the 165-foot-tall (50 meters) Starship spacecraft to orbit. That spaceship, somewhat confusingly known as Starship, will be able to fly many missions once aloft — going back and forth from Earth orbit to Mars repeatedly, for example. (Starship will be powerful enough to launch itself off the moon and Mars, but it will need help to escape Earth's much deeper gravity well.)
"It's not going to be easy, but I do believe that Starship offers the possibility of going and doing that," Shotwell told Time technology columnist Patrick Lucas Austin, referring to debris mitigation. "And I'm really excited about it."
A growing problem
Space junk poses a serious threat to humanity's use and exploration of the final frontier going forward, many experts say. About 34,000 objects greater than 4 inches (10 centimeters) in diameter are thought to be circling Earth at the moment, according to the European Space Agency. It's much harder to get a handle on the smaller stuff, but the estimates are frightening — about 900,000 or so orbital objects in the 0.4-inch to 4-inch (1 to 10 cm) range and 128 million shards between 0.04 inches and 0.4 inches wide (1 mm to 1 cm).
All of this material would pack a wallop in a collision because of the velocities involved. For example, at the altitude of the International Space Station, about 250 miles (400 kilometers), bodies move at roughly 17,500 mph (28,160 km/h).
The costs of developing, building and launching satellites are dropping, and Earth's orbital space lanes are getting more and more crowded. The fear is that a collision or two could spawn a space-junk cascade, generating clouds of debris that cause further smashups. This scenario, known as the Kessler Syndrome, could make it hard to operate in Earth orbit if things get bad enough. The spaceflight community should therefore start taking mitigation measures now, many exploration advocates say.
We've seen orbital collisions already.
In February 2009, for instance, the defunct Russian military satellite Kosmos 2251 barreled into the operational communications satellite Iridium 33, spawning 1,800 pieces of trackable debris (and many others too small to spot) by the following October. And China and India have generated debris clouds on purpose, during destructive anti-satellite tests in 2007 and 2019, respectively.
SpaceX is one of the major drivers of Earth orbit's rapidly increasing population: The company has already launched nearly 900 of its Starlink internet satellites to low Earth orbit, and it has permission to loft about 12,000 of the craft. But SpaceX is taking pains to minimize Starlink's contribution to the orbital-debris problem, Shotwell said.
The company decided to lower the constellation's operational altitude for this reason, she told Austin. SpaceX's original plans called for first-generation Starlink satellites to fly between 684 and 823 miles high (1,100 to 1,325 kilometers), but the shift in thinking brought them down to an altitude of 340 miles (550 km).
SpaceX's standard operating procedure for Starlink involves deorbiting each satellite before it dies. But flying at just 340 miles up provides a sort of failsafe: atmospheric drag will bring a defunct satellite down from that altitude in just one to five years, according to SpaceX's Starlink page.
"And, in fact, we inject into a lower altitude, so if, for whatever reason, right after launch they're not working well, they come back to Earth" quickly, Shotwell said.
Starlink satellites can also perform collision-avoiding maneuvers autonomously, using information from the U.S. Department of Defense's debris-tracking system, according to the SpaceX Starlink page.
SpaceX is iterating toward the final Starship design via a series of increasingly ambitious prototypes. Three single-engine vehicles have already taken brief 500-foot-high (150 meters) test hops, and the company is preparing the three-engine SN8 prototype for a 9-mile-high (15 km) flight in the coming days or weeks.
The final Starship will have six of the company's new Raptor engines, and Super Heavy will sport about 30 Raptors. SpaceX wants the duo to be up and running relatively soon. Starship is in the running, for instance, to land astronauts on the moon for NASA's Artemis program, which is targeting 2024 for the first of those touchdowns. And Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa has booked a Starship trip around the moon, with a targeted launch date of 2023.
And then there's the Red Planet, the destination that Starship is being built for.
"If the Starship program goes as planned, I do think people will be able to travel to Mars in 10 years," Shotwell said.

A meteorite that landed on a frozen lake in 2018 contains thousands of organic compounds that formed billions of years ago and could hold clues about the origins of life on Earth.
The meteor entered Earth's atmosphere on Jan. 16, 2018, after a very long journey through the freezing vacuum of space, lighting up skies over Ontario, Canada, and the midwestern United States. Weather radar tracked the flaming space rock's descent and breakup, helping meteorite hunters to quickly locate fallen fragments on Strawberry Lake in Hamburg, Michigan.
An international team of researchers then examined a walnut-size piece of the meteorite "while it was still fresh," scientists reported in a new study. Their analysis revealed more than 2,000 organic molecules dating to when our solar system was young; similar compounds may have seeded the emergence of microbial life on our planet, the study authors reported.
Swift recovery of the meteorite from the lake's frozen surface prevented liquid water from seeping into cracks and contaminating the sample with terrestrial spores and microbes. This maintained the space rock's pristine state, enabling experts to more easily evaluate its composition.
In fact, there was so little terrestrial weathering that the fragment brought to Chicago's Field Museum looked like it had been collected in space, said study co-author Jennika Greer, a doctoral candidate in the Department of the Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago, and a resident graduate student at The Field Museum.
When space rocks enter the atmosphere at speeds of several miles per second, the air around them becomes ionized. Extreme heat melts away up to 90% of the meteor, and the rock that survives atmospheric passage becomes encased in a 1-millimeter-thick fusion crust of melted glass, said lead study author Philipp Heck, a curator of meteorites at the Field Museum and an associate professor at the University of Chicago.
That surviving fragment inside the glassy crust is a pristine record of the rock's geochemistry in space. And despite a fiery fall to Earth, after the vaporized external layers are carried away, rocky meteorites such as this one are very, very cold when they land, Heck told Live Science.
"I've heard eyewitness accounts of meteorites falling into puddles after it rained, and the puddle froze because the meteorite was so cold," he said.

Mostly unchanged
The Michigan meteorite's ratio ofuranium(isotopes 238 and 235) to the element's decayed state aslead(isotopes 207 and 206) told the scientists that the parent asteroid formed about 4.5 billion years ago. Around that time, the rock underwent a process called thermal metamorphism, as it was subjected to temperatures of up to 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit (700 degrees Celsius). After that, the asteroid's composition stayed mostly unchanged for the last 3 billion years.
Then about 12 million years ago, an impact broke off the chunk of rock that recently fell in Michigan, according to an analysis of the meteorite's exposure to cosmic rays in space, Heck told Live Science.
Because the meteorite was altered so little after its initial heating billions of years ago, it was classified as H4: "H" indicates that it's a rocky meteorite that's high in iron, while type 4 meteorites have undergone thermal metamorphism sufficient to change their original composition. Only about 4% of the meteorites that fall to Earth today land in the H4 category.
"When we're looking at these meteorites, we're looking at something that's close to the material when it formed early in the solar system's history," Greer said.
The meteorite held 2,600 organic, or carbon-containing compounds, the researchers reported in the study. Because the meteorite was mostly unchanged since 4.5 billion years ago, these compounds likely are similar to the ones that other meteorites brought to a young Earth, some of which "might have been incorporated into life," Heck said.
The transformation from extraterrestrial organic compounds into the first microbial life on Earth is "a big step" that is still shrouded in mystery, but evidence suggests that organics are common in meteorites — even in thermally metamorphosed meteorites such as the one that landed in Michigan, he added. Meteor bombardment was also more frequent for a young Earth than it is today, "so we are pretty certain that the input from meteorites into the organic inventory on Earth was important," for seeding life, Heck said.
The findings were published online Oct. 27 in the journal Meteoritics & Planetary Science.
Out in the remote wilds near the village of Tsarichina, in the western region of Kostinbrod, Bulgaria, lies a strange little circular formation that almost looks like a cave that has been filled in with concrete. There isn’t much to it, really, and a lot of people might pass right on by it without even noticing it is there at all. Yet, this nondescript little piece of land is steeped in mystery, and is ground zero for all manner of strange tales of secret operations, UFOs, aliens, and unexplained paranormal phenomena. They call it the Tsarichina Hole, and its story is very bizarre indeed.
The story goes that On 6 December, 1990, the Bulgarian military moved into the region and began excavations on the site, supposedly called “Operation Lightbeam.” Whatever was going on was top secret, as armed men turned curiosity seekers away and trespassers were allegedly dealt with harshly, and the whole place was crawling with military personnel. The rumor at the time was that they were looking for an ancient treasure said to be buried there, the purported hidden treasure of King Samuil. However, according to stories that would eventually leak out, they found something altogether more bizarre down there in the bowels of the earth.
According to supposedly leaked information from a Colonel Tzvetko Kanev, the team’s dig reached a strange spiral tunnel and a mysterious rectangular slab made of an unknown material that could not be explained. Apparently a remote viewer by the name of Eli Loginova was brought in to help them assess the tunnel and the object, and she told them that the slab of stone was a “biological protection slab,” and that it was covered in dangerous bacteria and should not be disturbed. Another psychic called Baba Vanga also claimed that there was a skeleton down in the hole that was “neither man, nor woman,” and both of these psychics claimed that there was something down there in the darkness sending out telepathic messages.
The military apparently nevertheless went into that tunnel to try and excavate the object, and along the way they discovered other anomalies down there, such as a slab in the shape of a concave lens, a depiction in the stone of a humanoid figure of a height dwarfing that of a human, and another tunnel with completely smooth walls, a silvery floor, and walls covered in some sort of hieroglyphics. When they actually tried to approach the slab that they had come from, it was reported that they were repelled by a bright beam of light, and what seemed to be some kind of invisible force field that kept them from getting too close to it. The psychic Vanga warned that the cave was protected, and that whatever was down there was not yet ready to be discovered by humans, that it would defend itself with violent force, if necessary. Other psychics corroborated this, and the clairvoyant Gina Demirova would warn of this:
When excavations in Tsarichina were held, the aliens told me that the research must stop. Do not dig, it’s not your time! There is the center of the Earth – at a depth of 2000 km, there is a finding such as crystals. It is big as the sun when it rises. Do not touch! People will not reach it, but they will disturb the atmosphere. This is a big crystal, which is dangerous and will stay there as long as the Earth. It controls its movement. Stop digging because the earth will perish. Hard days will come for your people. There will be new, many terrible diseases, if you dig in Tsarichina. In the hole, there is underworld, but this is not hell. There are live people like you down there, but their origin is different. There is also space device that is found there. It was sent by an extraterrestrial civilization. There are cosmonauts down there. Thousands of years ago, when your country did not exist, a civilization from another planet sent a spaceship with three astronauts on Earth. They were not humans but robots. They were sent to explore life on Earth. They suffered damage and the space-ship crashed in Tsarichina. With every meter of digging down there, higher and higher radiation will be emitted. Do not dig into Tsarichina hole, it is not your time now!
Alright, then, get all of that? Regardless of this warning they kept digging, and as this excavation was going on there would supposedly be quite a lot of strangeness reported from the surrounding countryside as well. Scared locals were seeing UFOs in the area, ghostly apparitions, and some of them even claimed that they were receiving thoughts beamed into their heads that were not their own. In the meantime, during the full 2 years that this excavation would go on, the remote seer Loginova would claim to be in constant telepathic contact with the entities from the tunnel, who were channeling messages through her. She would allegedly eventually transcribe over 1,000 pages of these massages, and she says they were received in codes that she would decipher. She explained in an interview:
The codes are my cipher letters. More than 1000 pages, which I started receiving during the Tsarichina excavations. The texts are incredible. This is a compilation of ancient writings, which tell about the story of the human creation. How it was created, how it was brought to Earth, how it must survive, what we must do to keep the Earth alive. The Earth is a part of the common planetary synchronicity. This cosmic collactorium wants the Earth to survive. The synchronicity must not be broken, because chaos will ensue. This information is contained in the codes or the ciphered letter received on Tsarichina. They tell about the so-called energy humans. They are marked by them, and through the energy humans they keep the synchronicity on Earth. They choose to come into contact with, in order for this information to be received, because it is very heavy and not every brain can handle that amount of information. I know what the truth is.
Apparently, this was a little too much for other psychics who were purportedly brought in to handle, as one allegedly quit, and another remote viewer Marina Naplatanova committed suicide during the dig. Then, on November 19, 1992, the military suddenly packed up is operation, sealed the hole with concrete, and left. There was no explanation given for why they had abandoned the project, and indeed no official reason for why they had ever been there in the first place. All of the supposed evidence that had been collected for anything found down there in the bowels of the earth was whisked away, labelled as classified, and buried. Loginova would lament:
All the notebooks mysteriously vanished along with all the journals that we composed in Tsarichina. The film, which we shot before the dismissal of the project, also mysteriously vanished. I don’t have any evidence left to certify our work. I can use only my words and hope that people believe me.
Over the years since the excavation stopped there have been numerous rumors and wild tales devoted to the Tsarichina hole. Depending on the story the military found an interdimensional portal down there, alien skeletons, giant power crystals, plans for alien technology, or the secrets of the lost continent of Atlantis. There are also stories that they whisked of a triangular spaceship, leading it to be called the “Area 51 of Bulgaria.” With a story this surrounded by mystery and with this little evidence to back it up, you could come up with whatever theory you want and it would be just as viable as anything else being floated about. Although the story of the Tsarichina Hole has become rather well-known in Bulgaria, it is a mystery that remains rather convoluted, unclear, and without much to show that any of this happened at all. Whatever was going on here, if anything, has been lost to time, possibly covered up, and we may never really know for sure.
That was the question put to me a few days ago while I was doing radio. I have to say I’m probably not the best person to give a positive response on that same question. After all, I’ve written two books on the Roswell affair of July 1947, both of which show why aliens didn’t crashon the Foster Ranch, Lincoln County, New Mexico. I have to admit that up until around 2001 I was a true believer in Roswell. That soon changed, however – and to a significant degree. My view is that if Roswell – the most credible “UFO crash” case for many – turns out not to have alien origins, then what chance is there for the other, lesser credible cases? With all of that said, however, I can say for sure there are claims of dead aliens on ice in well-guarded facilities in the U.K. We need far more than mere claims, however. Right now, though, that’s all we have. I’ll begin with a strange story that dates back decades and that involved a famous journalist who died under controversial circumstances.

Dorothy Kilgallen was an investigative journalist who died in 1965 – when she was doing extensive research into the JFK assassination of November 22, 1963. It’s the 1950s we need to focus on, however. While on vacation in 1955, Kilgallen and her husband, Richard Kollmar, went on holiday to England. While there, she heard a fantastic story. In Kilgallen’s own words penned at the time: “I can report today on a story which is positively spooky, not to mention chilling. British scientists and airmen, after examining the wreckage of one mysterious flying ship, are convinced these strange aerial objects are not optical illusions or Soviet inventions, but are flying saucers which originate on another planet. The source of my information is a British official of cabinet rank who prefers to remain unidentified.” Kilgallen had more to say. She quoted her source as telling her:
“We believe, on the basis of our inquiry thus far, that the saucers were staffed by small men – probably under four feet tall. It’s frightening, but there’s no denying the flying saucers come from another planet.” Kilgallen had more: “This official quoted scientists as saying a flying ship of this type could not have possibly been constructed on Earth. The British Government, I learned, is withholding an official report on the ‘flying saucer’ examination at this time, possibly because it does not wish to frighten the public. When my husband and I arrived here from a brief vacation, I had no premonition that I would be catapulting myself into the controversy over whether flying saucers are real or imaginary.” It’s important to note that Kilgallen’s informant said the alleged aliens that flew the crashed UFO were “probably under four feet tall.” The word “probably” implies that even if the U.K. government did have a crashed saucer, they didn’t actually have dead aliens on ice. And that’s where the story ends (aside from the highly controversial “Marilyn Monroe, Kilgallen and UFOs” document that surfaced publicly in the mid-1990s).

Now, let’s take a look at the second case I have on record. I should clarify that I have more than two. The problem is that the additional twelve cases are so vague – and of a typical friend-of-a-friend-type – they are barely worth addressing. There is, however, one case (a notorious one, to say the least) worth looking at. It all went down (quite literally, perhaps) on the night of January 23, 1974 on the Berwyn Mountains, North Wales. Depending on who you ask, what happened was the crash of a UFO and its crew, a secret military experiment, an earthquake that occurred at the same time as a meteor shower, or sightings of what have become known in Ufology and Forteana as “ghost lights.” But, what about the “dead aliens” angle to all of this? Let’s have a look.
In 1996, an alleged military whistle-blower came forward, claiming that aliens had crashed on the Berwyn Mountains back in January 1974. The pummeled bodies of the dead crew were said to have been secretly rushed to Porton Down (a secure facility in the southwest of England that has worked in the fields of chemical warfare, biological warfare, and hallucinogens), for hasty examination and even hastier preservation. As is so typically often the case in such situations, the source of all this chose not to provide his name to the UFO research community of the day. Instead, he preferred to lurk in the darkness, shrouded in mystery and intrigue. He shared his story only with the late Tony Dodd, who was a North Yorkshire police sergeant and UFO investigator. Dodd chose to give his talkative soldier the alias of “James Prescott,” who was said by Dodd to have been long-retired from the British Army. There’s no doubt that something happened on that night in January 1974. And there’s also no doubt that the Prescott story fired up the U.K.-based UFO research community of that time (1996). That was the very same time when an X-Files-type “I want to believe” fever still had a grip on Ufology. You only have to look at the names of all the glossy, UFO-themed newsstand magazines that hastily hit the newsstands in that era: Alien Encounters, Sightings, UFO Reality, The X-Factor, Enigma, UFO Magazine and…the list goes on. All of those magazines are long gone.
I remember very well the debate and controversy surrounding the Prescott claims in the 1990s. Some UFO investigators were intrigued by it. Others were amazed by it. The fact is, though, that all we have now is all we had back then: an unknown source (with a faked name), and a UFO researcher – the aforementioned Tony Dodd – who stubbornly refused to reveal the real name of his informer, even though he could. For some in Ufology, that might be enough to make a case. It’s not enough for me, though, and it shouldn’t be enough for you, either. Of course, I can never say for sure there aren’t any dead alien bodies hidden away in a well-protected underground bunker below the U.K. countryside. On the basis of the “evidence” that we have right now, however, I say we need way more before we can even come close to making such a case.
A conspiracy theorist who has been searching through archive images from NASA believes he has uncovered some alien truths. The apparent bombshell comes in the form of a disk-shaped object with a flat surface, which can be seen partially buried in the Martian sand - and alien enthusiast Scott C Waring claims the disk is an alien craft.
Writing on his blog UFO Sightings Daily, he said the UFO in question was the same spotted by former US government employee Bob Lazar.
Mr Lazar claims to be a whistle-blower on the US government who says he has proof of aliens.
Mr Waring said on his blog UFO Sightings Daily: "While searching through some NASA archives I came across a Mars photo with a crashed disk in it.
"The disk is very similar to the craft that Bob Lazar worked on in Area S4.

The brain is wired to see familiar patterns, such as faces for example, when they are not actually there, and this applies to the rock in question.

NASA said: "Pareidolia is the psychological phenomenon where people see recognisable shapes in clouds, rock formations, or otherwise unrelated objects or data.
"There are many examples of this phenomenon on Earth and in space."
However, Mr Waring has said that the coronavirus pandemic has proven that humanity has the strength to deal with an alien revelation and NASA should release any evidence it has.
He said: "Much like COVID-19 did to the people in each country as it spread, because the public once believed that such a pandemic would be impossible, and yet, the human race has changed their perspective on that very fast.
"That's how disclosure of intelligent aliens would be, but it would not kill people or frighten them as much."

Close Encounter: UFO descends from sky over Montreal, Canada
Sky-watcher Bruce Swartz experienced a close encounter when an Unidentified Aerial Phenomena appeared over his house in Montreal, Canada.
According to Bruce, on October 31, 2020 at 9:30 pm right after sunset an Incredibly bright diamond shaped UFO with 8 lights, as well as a shape can be seen, came down as low as the trees. The object looked it was the size of a very big truck.
Although Bruce, well-known for his UFO moon videos, was surprised and excited, he was able to film the UFO with his infrared camera.
When they couldn’t get credible data regarding UFOs in front of the Secretary of Defense, two intelligence insiders hatched a plan to get the world to pay attention and succeeded.
The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) has requested that the Director of National Intelligence organize research into Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP – aka UFOs) and provide a public report on what has been done thus far. It is an extraordinary move that further legitimizes a topic that has historically been relegated to mythological stories like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. However, the public did not know that there were those in the US military and intelligence communities who took the issue seriously and wanted more to be done to figure out what those UFOs are.

“We have an intelligence community for a reason, partly to support our military, partly to avoid strategic surprise, and the intelligence community was failing on both counts,” former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Chris Mellon told OpenMinds.tv in a recent interview. “The intelligence community was completely unresponsive, completely dropping the ball. I mean, it could be Russian, it could be Chinese, it could be something else.”
Mellon served for ten years as a Staff Director of the SSCI. From 1998 to 1999, he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security and Information Operations, and from 1999 to 2002, he was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.
In a recent interview for a documentary called The Phenomenon, Mellon says his professional interest in the topic of UAP began with a request by astronaut Gordon Cooper.
Cooper was a part of the famed Mercury Seven, the first seven US astronauts to go into space. He claims to have had two UFO incidents. The first was in 1951. He claims his squadron of jet fighters chased a group of round objects that could stop mid-air and make instant 90 degree turns. He also claimed that in 1957 a crew he managed at Edwards Air Force base filmed a saucer-shaped object land on a dry lake bed and then take off again. He reviewed the film and reported it. The Air Force sent a courier to collect it. He never saw the film again.
According to Mellon, Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Defense, Michael Cohen, tasked him to investigate the matter.
“Astronaut Cooper had spoken with the President,” Mellon says in The Phenomenon. “At a cabinet meeting, he raised this with Secretary Cohen, and then Cohen’s office called me and asked me to pursue this and chase it down.”
“The Air Force colonel that I spoke with got very frustrated, and when I asked him what happened to all of these records,” explained Mellon. “He said, ‘Well, that was all cleaned up or thrown out to save space.’ Something like that. It sounded ludicrous, but that’s what he told me.”
Mellon’s interest in the UFO topic was the focus of an article in The Huffington Post in May 2016 titled Is There a UFO Cover-up? A Government Insider Speaks Out. The article was written by Leslie Kean and was about Mellon joining a group of scientists interesting in developing a UFO monitoring system called UFODATA.
Kean was also one of The New York Times authors, along with Ralph Blumenthal and Helen Cooper, who broke the news in December 2017 that the Pentagon had run a secretive UFO program from 2007 to 2012 called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). The article’s primary source was Luis Elizondo, a former military intelligence official who claims he retired to get more attention to what he felt was important information regarding UFOs. He also claimed AATIP did not end in 2012 and that it continues to this day.
Along with Elizondo’s claims, The New York Times article also included two videos allegedly showing infrared camera footage from F-18 fighter jets of unidentified aerial phenomenon. Although Elizondo was the one who got those videos cleared for release, he has maintained he was not the source of the videos for The New York Times.
As featured in a recent Vicearticle, and covered by blogger Danny Silva, in a sneak peek clip for The Phenomenon (seen below), Mellon admits he was the source for the videos. He claims, “I received the videos, the now-famous videos in the Pentagon parking lot from a Defense Department official. I still have the packaging.”
“This is a case where somebody bent the rules a little bit, and they did so for the larger good, and we’re absolutely all better off because of it,” Mellon continued.
Mellon says he was never a part of AATIP. In our OpenMinds.tvinterview, he revealed that he believed it was some time in 2017 that he discovered AATIP’s existence. Although he did not say how he came to be aware of AATIP, Mellon says he was surprised when he found it.
“I was surprised because I was involved in, I had my hand in pretty much all the spooky stuff when I was there,” says Mellon. “There didn’t seem to be anything going on in this particular topic. And it was something that I had always been interested in. So, I was surprised to see they had anything organized at all.”
Mellon quickly offered his support to Elizondo, who was trying to get his findings regarding UAP encounters, such as the Nimitz Strike Carrier Group encounter featured in The New York Times article, to the Secretary of Defense.
“What motivated me to a great degree, and Lou, I was outraged, just outraged, that these military pilots were not getting more support,” explained Mellon. “As a member of the intelligence community and somebody who cares about national security, I was appalled and determined to see if I could do something to help fix that problem.”
The problem was that the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) did not want to escalate the issue.
“People were still afraid to touch it and afraid to let the secretary even be exposed to the issue,” says Mellon. “They were afraid that even a mere briefing for him would somehow taint him or compromise is his Sterling reputation.”
“What I tried to do was introduce Lou to some very senior people in the department that I knew that I had connections to who were very close to the secretary of defense,” Mellon recounted. “I tried to help him. They worked through the system first, and some meetings were held, and more briefings were held and so forth, but ultimately they proved impossible to get this in front of the secretary. “
This was the point at which Mellon and Elizondo began to consider more drastic measures.
“When that didn’t pan out, ultimately, Lue faced the choice between essentially, living with an inadequate program or throwing in the towel or going public to try to inform the public and Congress and help make something happen.”
Resigning and going public was the route Elizondo chose. But before leaving, Elizondo and Mellon hatched their plan.
“We had a strategy from the outset and a plan before he even left,” said Mellon. “We discussed what that would look like, and we’ve been executing on that ever since.”
Elizondo and Mellon began to approach journalists with their UFO videos, documents, and data. In an interview on Open Minds UFO Radio, Politico’s Bryan Bender says he was approached in the middle of 2017 and was able to confirm AATIP’s existence with his sources “on the hill.”
In a separate Open Minds UFO Radio interview, Kean says she was invited to a meeting with Elizondo held on October 4, 2017, “arranged by some of Elizondo’s colleagues” who knew her.
“I went down and went to Washington, and we spent three or four hours together,” says Kean. “I was shown the videos that were eventually released with our story. And just given, you know, told all about Harry Reid, was shown documents about Harry Reid’s involvement and just the story was kind of laid out for me at this meeting.”
“I realized at that point that it was a New York Times level story, given the documentation that was available for the program and for the people involved and everything else,” Kean continued. “And so that’s how it all started.”
While Kean and Bender worked on developing their AATIP stories, the world was introduced to Elizondo on October 10, 2017, with the launch of Tom DeLonge’s To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science (originally TTS/AAS, now referred to as TTSA). The announcement was launched with Kean’s article in The Huffington Post titled Inside Knowledge About Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Could Lead To World-Changing Technology. TTSA also held a press conference hosted by DeLonge featuring members of the team, including Elizondo and Mellon.
“I was especially curious to meet Luis Elizondo because he ran a program at the DOD involving the study of anomalous aerial threats,” Kean wrote in the article. “Luis had resigned this position literally the day before we met.”
DeLonge received the most press regarding the launch of TTSA, but no one seemed to take notice of the guy who claimed he ran a UFO program despite the government telling us for decades they had no interest in the topic.
Then, on December 16, 2017, The New York Times and Politico published their articles on AATIP, and the story went global. Elizondo, Mellon, DeLonge, and witnesses to the Nimitz UFO encounter, including jet fighter pilot and wing commander David Fravor, were inundated with interview requests throughout 2018. On March 9, 2019, The Washington Post published an op-ed by Mellon titled The military keeps encountering UFOs. Why doesn’t the Pentagon care? In 2019, it was announced TTSA and AATIP would be featured in a History Channelprogram called Unidentified.
But a significant milestone came for Elizondo and Mellon when the Navy admitted they took UFOs seriously and announced new guidelines for reporting them. The story was broke by Bender for Politico in an article titled US Navy drafting new guidelines for reporting UFOs.
“Since our show Unidentified started, since The New York Times article appeared, my op-ed in The Washington Post with another video and so forth, that first of all, engaged the Navy and required the Navy to own up to the fact that this was real,” says Mellon. “They couldn’t any longer deny it. When they had active-duty pilots and others going on the record, that also then led to the briefings for Congress.”
An article by Bender regarding Senate briefings on UFOs was published in June 2019, titled Senators get classified briefing on UFO sightings. Unidentified featured Elizondo and Mellon taking witnesses to Washington D.C. for briefings.
Mellon’s op-ed suggested, “Congress should require an all-source study by the secretary of defense while promoting research into new forms of propulsion that might explain how these vehicles achieve such extraordinary power and maneuverability.”
TTSA posted suggested verbiage for such an effort, and their ideas did not go unnoticed. The Senate took action.
Bender broke this story on June 23, 2020, in an article titled Senators want the public to see the government’s UFO reports. It was a tweet by Steve McDaniel, founder and lead software developer of Sky Hub, who discovered the SSCI UAP request in an SSCI exploratory committee report, that alerted blogger Danny Silva to the matter. He wrote a blog that caught Bender’s attention, and Bender informed the world.
“Ultimately, this reporting requirement is a recognition that there is something going on with national security ramifications,” says Mellon. “It’s a forcing function that hopefully will force the executive branch to get its act together and pool all the intelligence, regardless of which stovepipe it’s in, which organization has it, and establishes some accountability and forces them to take a position in black and white, as opposed to just giving some briefings.”
In less than three years, Mellon and Elizondo’s strategy has resulted in the US government admitting they take UAP seriously, reversing their decades-long denials of the fact, and the Senate Intelligence committee taking notice asking for more information.
“It’s a tremendous step forward,” said Mellon. “Regardless of what the phenomenon turns out to be in the end. At least now we can have some faith that a serious effort is going to be made to hold and analyze the data, probably implement a new collection strategy… So it has a lot of potential ramifications, all of them positive.”
The news has been ablaze with UFO headlines, and behind all of this was the hidden hands of TTSA’s Mellon and Elizondo.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that that report requirement would not be in there, wouldn’t exist if we had not been engaged in bringing witnesses forward and advocating this and writing about it and so forth,” explains Mellon. “Also, this is my old committee. I worked on that community for over a decade. I still know people on the hill, so there are some people there who are still there from when I served. And, because we worked together and are friends and I don’t abuse the privilege, they were willing to take my calls and listen to what we had to say. And so, I think it wouldn’t have happened without us.”

It’s hard to argue with that point of view. But Mellon also claims that all he did was get the information into the SSCI’s hands. They took it upon themselves to determine whether the data they were presented with warranted further action.
“It was largely just because the senators and staffers have been kept in the dark,” says Mellon. “Once they got the information, I think that sort of naturally led them to a place where they recognize that they need to get more information. There’s some important unanswered questions here.”
The governor of a Russian republic and former president of the World Chess Federation told a TV station that he had been abducted by aliens, who communicated with him telepathically.
The Russian government apparently believes him.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the governor of Kalmykia, told a popular Russian television host that the aliens came for him in his apartment on September 18, 1997. According to a report on ABC News, Ilyumzhinov said that the aliens didn’t make themselves known to the rest of the world because they weren’t ready, adding that he communicated with them telepathically because there wasn’t enough oxygen.
“I believe I talked to them and saw them. I perhaps wouldn’t believe it if it wasn’t for 3 witnesses -- my driver, my minister and my assistant,” who were apparently in the apartment at the time, he reportedly said.
According to a report on Russian news website GZT.ru, State Duma deputy Andrei Lebedev doesn’t believe that the governor was simply shown around the alien spaceship and released. Lebedev wants to find out what else happened to the president -- and he wants Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to interrogate the abductee.
Russian officials fear Ilyumzhinov may have given the aliens “secret information,” according to the Echo of Moscow radio station.
Parks Canada is trying to figure out how a face, estimated to be about 7 feet tall, appeared on a cliff in a remote region of Canada. It was discovered a few weeks ago by Hank Gus of the Tseshaht First Nation. He’d been searching for it for two years.
In 2008, a kayaker had reported seeing it and sent a photo of it to Parks Canada, but could not identify the precise location. Parks Canada had contacted the Tseshaht administration office to ask about it and Gus eventually began his search.
The debate now is whether it is man-made or a natural formation.
It is difficult to get to. Gus estimated it’s about 40 feet up from the bottom of the cliff face and about 25 feet from the top. A rugged coastline and rough waters have prevented further investigation these past few weeks, reported CTV News . It is located on Reeks Island, part of the Broken Group Islands, in British Columbia.
Parks Canada First Nation’s program manager Matthew Payne told ABC News : “The Tseshaht has lived in area for thousands of years, so we working with the First Nations to find out if there are any oral histories the face could link back to.”
Discovery News noted that, “There are psychological reasons why people see faces where they don’t exist: It’s a phenomenon called pareidolia, in which the brain sees faces in ambiguous stimuli such as clouds, coffee stains, and rocks. The human brain is hard-wired to recognize faces; in fact faces are the first things that babies learn to recognize, and parts of the brain are specialized for finding and recognizing faces.”
Is this a case of pareidolia or is it the handiwork of someone who scaled the difficult landscape long ago?
Gus told CTV it reminds him of a carving on the door of the Tseshaht administration offices of “Ugi,” a symbol of the wind.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk shared a photo that shows just how far the company has come in terms of preparation for its upcoming tests.
THE STARSHIP, SPACEX'S MARS-BOUND SPACESHIP, IS TAKING ON A BIG CHALLENGE — and Elon Musk has given a preview of how it's going to work.
On Wednesday, the CEO shared an image of the underside of Starship "SN8," a prototype model of the ship designed to send humans to Mars and beyond. This model, packed with three Raptor engines, is expected to fly to the highest altitude yet. While previous prototypes have reached up to 150 meters, or 500 feet, in altitude during "hop tests," SN8 isexpected to reach15 kilometers, or around 50,000 feet.
he test could pave the way for Starship's most ambitious missions. The stainless steel ship is designed to support similar missions to the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy. It's also a fully-reusable ship that can send up to 150 tons or 100 people into space at a time. Its use of liquid oxygen and methane propellant means astronauts can fly to Mars, use the planet's resources to refuel, and either return home or venture out further.
"Will be less roomy with 3 vacuum rocket engines added," Musk wrote on Twitter Wednesday. Previous prototypes have used a single Raptor engine designed for use at sea level. The "SN8" shown in the picture packs three sea-level engines in a triangular configuration.
The final version is expected to feature those three engines, plus three larger Raptors designed for use in the vacuum of space.

The ship, which measures 30 feet wide and 160 feet tall, will pair with the Super Heavy booster to help it leave the Earth. This will make the ship stand around 400 feet tall. The booster is expected to pack a staggering 28 Raptor engines.
A successful test for SN8 could mean the ship can continue on to more ambitious flights, like an orbital launch. The prototype has been coming together at speed:
On August 11, when unveiling the fully-completed "SN6" model, Musk revealed that "SN7" would be a test tank while SN8 would be more spaceship-looking with flaps and nosecone.
On September 12, Musk stated SN8 should be "done in about a week."
On September 26, Musk shared a photo of the prototype complete with motor-driven rear body flaps. He also stated the firm would add the nosecone and front flaps the following week.
On October 9, Musk reported that SN8 had passed a cryo proof test. This tests the ship's ability to handle the super-cold fuel and pressures it'll experience in spaceflight.
NASASpaceflight reported on October 11 that SpaceX had started installing the three Raptor engines that day.
From here, the ship is expected to undergo a series of tests. This, Musk outlined in September, would involve completing a static test fire of the triple-engined machine. The team would then complete checkouts, a second static fire, and finally the flight itself.
THE INVERSE ANALYSIS – SN8's flight could be one of the most impressive in terms of visual spectacle alone. It will be the first time that SpaceX has flown a full-size Starship with body flaps, nosecone, and the expected triple-Raptor formation. A little less farm silo, a little more flying spaceship.
SpaceX will still need to tackle the orbital launch. At the September 2019 event, Musk claimed this would take place in a matter of months. SpaceX is likely to reveal more about this goal, and other details, at the event expected later this month.

Much like Earth, Pluto's huge mountains may have vast expanses of snow covering their peaks.
This is according to Nasa's New Horizons team who has discovered a chain of exotic snowcapped mountains stretching across the dark expanse on Pluto informally named Cthulhu region.
The area stretches nearly halfway around Pluto's equator, starting from the west of the great nitrogen ice plains known as Sputnik Planum.

Measuring around 1,850 miles (3,000km) long and 450 miles (750km) wide, Cthulhu (pronounced kuh-THU-lu) is a bit larger than the state of Alaska.
Cthulhu's appearance is characterised by a dark surface, which scientists think is due to being covered by a layer of dark tholins.
Tholins are complex molecules that form when methane is exposed to sunlight.
Cthulhu's geology exhibits a wide variety of landscapes - from mountainous to smooth, and to heavily cratered and fractured.

Scientists think this bright material could be predominantly methane that has condensed as ice onto the peaks from Pluto's atmosphere.
'That this material coats only the upper slopes of the peaks suggests methane ice may act like water in Earth's atmosphere, condensing as frost at high altitude,' said John Stansberry, a New Horizons science team member from Space Telescope Science Institute, Baltimore, Maryland.
Compositional data from the Ralph/Multispectral Visible Imaging Camera (MVIC) on Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft, indicates that the location of the bright ice on the mountain peaks matches up almost exactly with the distribution of methane ice, shown in false colour as purple.
The resolution of the enhanced colour image is about 2,230 feet (680 meters) per pixel.
The image measures approximately 280 miles (450km) long by 140 miles (225km) wide.
It was obtained by New Horizons at a range of approximately 21,100 miles (33,900km) from Pluto, about 45 minutes before the spacecraft's closest approach to Pluto on July 14, 2015.
Last month, hills of water ice were found to be 'floating' in a sea of frozen nitrogen on Pluto, moving over time like icebergs in Earth's Arctic Ocean
These hills, which can be seen in the recent images studied by the New Horizons team, are believed to measure one to several miles across.
They are found in the vast ice plain informally named Sputnik Planum within Pluto's 'heart' and are likely miniature versions of the larger, jumbled mountains on the region's western border.

Their discovery follows news last month that Pluto may be covered in a lot more water ice than astronomers previously thought, which could boost the chances for finding a liquid sea and alien life.
Nasa describes the feature as 'yet another example of Pluto's fascinating and abundant geological activity.'
Because water ice is less dense than nitrogen-dominated ice, scientists believe these water ice hills are floating in a sea of frozen nitrogen and move over time like icebergs on Earth.
The hills may be fragments of the rugged uplands that have broken away and are being carried by the nitrogen glaciers into Sputnik Planum.
'Chains' of the drifting hills are formed along the flow paths of the glaciers.
When the hills enter the cellular terrain of central Sputnik Planum, they become subject to the motions of the nitrogen ice, and are pushed to the edges of the cells, where the hills cluster in groups reaching up to 12 miles (20km) across.
At the northern end of the image, the feature informally named Challenger Colles – honouring the crew of the lost space shuttle Challenger – appears to be an especially large accumulation of these hills, measuring 37 by 22 miles (60 by 35km).
This feature is located near the boundary with the uplands, away from the cellular terrain, and may represent a location where hills have been 'beached' due to the nitrogen ice being especially shallow.

Last week, Nasa said that Pluto may be covered in a lot more water ice than astronomers previously thought.
The space agency has now stitched together images from the observations to create a three-dimensional 'data cube' to map the findings.
Using observations taken in infrared light by the Ralph/Linear Etalon Imaging Spectral Array (LEISA) instrument, astronomers have created false-colour maps to plot the concentration of Pluto's water ice.
The two scans were taken 15 minutes apart on July 14, 2015 from 67,000 miles away, showing the hemisphere visible to New Horizons as it flew by.
According to Nasa, water ice is the crustal bedrock of Pluto, and over the course of the changing seasons, it is covered by more volatile ices.
One of these other ices is methane, which can block the 'spectral signature' of water ice.
In the first map, shown on the left, the researchers compared LEISA spectra with a pure ice template spectrum to work around this.
But, the map only shows areas that were either very rich in water, or very low in methane.
For the second map, the team used more sensitive techniques, including the various kinds of ice found on the surface, in addition to water ice.
The more detailed map reveals the spread of water ice across much of Pluto, much more than previously known.
NEW HORIZONS' NEW MISSION
The spacecraft that gave us the first close-up views of Pluto now has a much smaller object in its sights.
New Horizons is now track to fly past a recently discovered, less than 30-mile-wide object out on the solar system frontier.
The close encounter with what's known as 2014 MU69 would occur in 2019. It orbits nearly 1 billion miles (1.6 billion kilometers) beyond Pluto.
Nasa and the New Horizons team chose 2014 MU69 in August as New Horizons' next potential target, thus the nickname PT-1. Like Pluto, MU69 orbits the sun in the frozen, twilight zone known as the Kuiper Belt.
MU69 is thought to be 10 times larger and 1,000 times more massive than average comets, including the one being orbited right now by Europe's Rosetta spacecraft.
On the other end, MU69 is barely 1 percent the size of Pluto and perhaps one-ten-thousandth the mass of the dwarf planet. So the new target is a good middle ground, according to scientists.
The team plans to formally ask Nasa next year to fund the mission extension for studying MU69.
Scientists promise a better name before showtime on January 1, 2019.
Some regions on the map, including Sputnik Planum, the western region of Pluto's 'heart,' and Lowell Regio in the north, were observed to exhibit little evidence of water, if any at all.
This suggests that the bedrock in these areas is buried beneath an accumulation of other ices, such as methane, nitrogen, and carbon monoxide.
Earlier this month, New Horizons sent back one of its most intriguing images of the surface of Pluto. It shows a mysterious object appearing to 'slide' through the surface.
Nasa experts believe the object may be a 'dirty block of water ice'.
They say it is 'floating' in denser solid nitrogen, and which has been dragged to the edge of a convection cell.
Also visible are thousands of pits in the surface, which scientists believe may form by sublimation.

THERE COULD BE ALIENS BENEATH PLUTO'S CRUST, SAYS BRIAN COX
Alien life may be lurking beneath Pluto's crust, according to physicist Brian Cox.
His comments come after the historic flyby of the dwarf planet by New Horizons, which uncovered huge glaciers and mountains made of water ice.
These features hint at the possibility of subterranean seas on the dwarf planet warm enough for organic chemistry to thrive, said Cox.
The probe 'showed you that there may well be a subsurface ocean on Pluto,' Cox told The Times. '[This] means - if our understanding of life on Earth is even slightly correct - that you could have living things there.'
Transmitted to Earth on Dec. 24, another image from the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) extends New Horizons' highest-resolution views of Pluto to the very center of Sputnik Planum,.
Sputnik Planum is at a lower elevation than most of the surrounding area by a couple of miles, but is not completely flat.
Its surface is separated into cells or polygons 10 to 25 miles (16 to 40 kilometers) wide, and when viewed at low sun angles (with visible shadows), the cells are seen to have slightly raised centers and ridged margins, with about 100 yards (100 meters) of overall height variation.
Mission scientists believe the pattern of the cells stems from the slow thermal convection of the nitrogen-dominated ices that fill Sputnik Planum.
A reservoir that's likely several miles or kilometers deep in some places, the solid nitrogen is warmed at depth by Pluto's modest internal heat, becomes buoyant and rises up in great blobs, and then cools off and sinks again to renew the cycle.
'This part of Pluto is acting like a lava lamp,' said William McKinnon, deputy lead of the New Horizons Geology, Geophysics and Imaging team, from Washington University in St. Louis, 'if you can imagine a lava lamp as wide as, and even deeper than, the Hudson Bay.'
Computer models by the New Horizons team show that these blobs of overturning solid nitrogen can slowly evolve and merge over millions of years. The ridged margins, which mark where cooled nitrogen ice sinks back down, can be pinched off and abandoned.
The 'X' feature is likely one of these—a former quadruple junction where four convection cells meet. Numerous, active triple junctions can be seen elsewhere in the LORRI mosaic.

THE BIGGEST ICE VOLCANO IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM: IMAGES REVEAL 90 MILE-WIDE CRYOVOLCANO ON PLUTO
The most detailed image yet of a giant mountain on Pluto, which is suspected to be an ice volcano, was released by Nasa last month.
It is one of two potential cryovolcanoes spotted on the surface of Pluto by the New Horizons spacecraft in July 2015.
At about 90 miles (150km) across and 2.5 miles (4km) high, this feature is enormous.
The feature, known as Wright Mons, was informally named by the New Horizons team in honor of the Wright brothers.
If it is in fact a volcano, as suspected, it would be the largest such feature discovered in the outer solar system.
'These are big mountains with a large hole in their summit, and on Earth that generally means one thing — a volcano,' said Oliver White, a New Horizons researcher.

Mission scientists are baffled by the sparse distribution of red material in the image and wonder why it is not more widespread.
Also perplexing is that there is only one identified impact crater on Wright Mons itself, telling scientists that the surface - as well as some of the crust underneath - was created relatively recently.
This is turn may indicate that Wright Mons was volcanically active late in Pluto's history.
The other potential ice volcano on Pluto has been named Piccard Mons, is up to 3.5 miles (6 km) high. Both ice volcanoes are located near Pluto's South Pole.
'We're not yet ready to announce we have found volcanic constructs at Pluto, but these sure look suspicious and we're looking at them very closely,' said Jeff Moore, a planetary scientist at Nasa said in an earlier release.
Nasa says that if Pluto does have cryovolcanoes, it may be an indication that there is volatile ice that coats its surface.

With their tall peaks reaching into the sky and and their snow glistening in the sun, snowcapped mountains on Earth are beautiful. Other planets, like Mars and Venus and even some moons, also have mountains, but they lack the scenic snow cover of earthly mountains. One notable exception, though, was discovered in 2015 by the New Horizons spacecraft, when it made its sweep through the outer reaches of our solar system. I’m talking about the snowcapped mountains of Pluto!
Not only does Pluto have mountains, which was a bit surprising given its small size, but Pluto’s mountains also have snow on their peaks. There is one significant difference, though, between the mountains of Earth and Pluto. The “snow” or frost on Pluto consists of frozen methane (CH4) instead of water ice crystals.
Meanwhile, Pluto’s mountains themselves are composed of rock-hard water ice.
The new research, by an international team of scientists led by researchers from Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in France, was announced on October 13, 2020.
The associated peer-reviewed paper was published in Nature Communications on the same day.

The snow on Pluto’s mountains – particularly in Cthulhu Macula (formerly called Cthulhu Regio) – is part of a cycle, reminiscent of Earth’s water cycle, but integrating traces of methane in Pluto’s thin atmosphere instead of water vapor. The researchers used a climate model to find out just how the methane snow could be produced in Pluto’s un-Earthlike conditions. They found that Pluto’s mountain peaks are the only places high enough in altitude on the little world so that methane could condense out from the atmosphere. From the paper:
Here we demonstrate that the bright frosts observed in Cthulhu are mostly made of CH4-rich ice. We then use a numerical climate model of Pluto to investigate the origin of their formation. Our simulations reproduce the accumulation of high-altitude CH4 ice where the frostcapped mountains are observed, in particular on the ridges and crests of thePigafetta and Elcano Montesin eastern Cthulhu. They show that CH4 condensation is favored by sublimation-induced circulation cells that seasonally enrich the atmosphere with gaseous methane at those higher altitudes.
Overall, the formation of CH4 frost on top of Pluto’s mountains appears to be driven by a process completely different from the one forming snowcapped mountains on the Earth, according to our model. It is remarkable that two phenomena and two materials that are so dissimilar could produce the same landscape, when seen at similar resolution.

The findings also help solve another mystery as to why glaciers on Pluto, also composed of methane, have craggy ridges on them, while Earth’s glaciers, composed of water ice, tend to have smoother surfaces. As described in the paper:
Pluto is covered by numerous deposits of methane, either diluted in nitrogen or as methane-rich ice. Within the dark equatorial region of Cthulhu, bright frost containing methane is observed coating crater rims and walls as well as mountain tops, providing spectacular resemblance to terrestrial snowcapped mountain chains. However, the origin of these deposits remained enigmatic. Here we report that they are composed of methane-rich ice. We use high-resolution numerical simulations of Pluto’s climate to show that the processes forming them are likely to be completely different to those forming high-altitude snowpack on Earth. The methane deposits may not result from adiabatic cooling in upwardly moving air like on our planet, but from a circulation-induced enrichment of gaseous methane a few kilometers above Pluto’s plains that favors methane condensation at mountain summits. This process could have shaped other methane reservoirs on Pluto and help explain the appearance of the bladed terrain of Tartarus Dorsa.
Pluto is covered by exotic-composition ices and its landscape strongly resembles the polar caps on Earth (Greenland and Antarctica). New Horizons even discovered spectacular mountains on Pluto covered by bright deposits, strikingly resembling snowcapped mountain chains seen on Earth. Such a landscape had never been observed elsewhere in the solar system. Could Pluto’s atmosphere behave like Earth’s? We discovered that a new and unique (in the solar system) atmospheric process forms these snowy mountains on Pluto.
New Horizons’ view of Sputnik Planitia on Pluto, a vast, smooth field of nitrogen ice glaciers which makes up half of Pluto’s “heart” feature. Pluto also has possible cryovolcanoes (ice volcanoes) and a subsurface ocean of water, making it a surprisingly geologically active world.
On Earth, temperatures in the atmosphere decrease with altitude. The opposite occurs on Pluto, however. Its thin atmosphere is warmed by the sun, and temperatures increase the higher up you go, which allows the methane to condense onto the mountain peaks. As Bertrand explained:
At its contact the air is cooled and flows downslope. Pluto’s atmosphere has more gaseous methane at its warmer, higher altitudes, allowing for that gas to saturate and freeze directly on the mountain peaks tall enough to reach the enriched zone. At lower altitudes, the concentration of gaseous methane is lower, and it cannot condense.
This discovery teaches us that there are still plenty of physical and dynamical processes out there in space that we do not know about, and that climates can be very different than that of Earth (despite forming a similar landscape). It is important to study Pluto and other planetary bodies because they are natural laboratories to explore and investigate the diversity of possible climates (and geology, and other planetary sciences) which gives us more perspective on our own climate.

The discovery of a snowcap cycle on Pluto is a fascinating example of how active this cold, distant dwarf planet actually is. Pluto also has vast, smooth glaciers of nitrogen ice such as in Sputnik Planum, dunes of methane ice and odd “bladed terrain” with blades of ice as tall as skyscrapers. There may also be cryovolcanoes – ice volcanoes – and a subsurface ocean of water. This little world is surprisingly geologically active despite being so small and so far from the sun. It even has five moons!
Even though its visit to Pluto was just a brief flyby, New Horizons has already transformed our knowledge about this little world, and its findings will keep scientists busy for decades to come.
Bottom line: Pluto has snow on its mountain peaks just like Earth does, but these snowcaps are made of frozen methane, not water ice. A new study shows how they form in such an un-earthlike environment.
“The Search for Techno-Artifacts” –Did an Earlier Civilization Exist in the Solar System?
One of the primary open questions of astrobiology is whether there is extant or extinct life elsewhere the Solar System. Astrophysicists Avi Loeb at Harvard and Penn State’s Jason Wright have both explored the question, with Loeb suggesting that ancient technological artifacts from beyond the Solar System may exist on Earth’s Moon amounting to a letter from an alien civilization saying, “We exist.”
Wright, a member of the Center for Exoplanets and Habitable Worlds, has considered the possibility that a technological species could have existed in the Solar System prior to humanity’s rise on Earth in his study, Prior Indigenous Technological Species.
In 2016, Wright authored a paper that discussed possible origins and locations for “technosignatures” of such a civilization while other astronomers have suggested looking for lights on Kuiper Belt Objects that “may serve as a lamppost which signals the existence of extraterrestrial technologies and thus civilizations.”
The origins and possible locations for technosignatures of such a priorindigenoustechnologicalspecies might have arisen on ancient Earth or another body, such as a pre-greenhouse Venus or a wet Mars. In the case of Venus, the arrival of its global greenhouse and potential resurfacing might have erased all evidence of its existence on the Venusian surface. In the case of Earth, erosion and, ultimately, plate tectonics may have erased most such evidence if the species lived a billion years ago. Remaining indigenous technosignatures, observes Wright, might be expected to be extremely old, limiting the places they might still be found to beneath the surfaces of Mars and the Moon, or in the outer Solar System.
“The most obvious answer is a cataclysm, whether a natural event, such as an extinction-level asteroid impact, or self-inflicted, such as a global climate catastrophe,” Wright asserts. “In the case of a prior space-faring species that had settled the Solar System, such an event would only permanently extinguish the species if there were many cataclysms across the Solar System closely spaced in time (a swarm of comets, or interplanetary warfare perhaps), or if the settlements were not completely self-sufficient. Alternatively, an unexpected nearby gamma ray burst or supernova might produce a Solar-System-wide cataclysm.”
From a purely scientific standpoint, observes Wright, it’s a perfectly reasonable question to ask whether life may have existed elsewhere in the Solar System, or does today.
Remaining indigenous technosignatures might be expected to be extremely old, suggests Wright, limiting the places they might still be found to beneath the surfaces of Mars and the Moon, or in the outer Solar System.
In a later, 2019 study, Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, suggested that Earth’s Moon might yield traces of technological equipment that crashed on the lunar surface a billion years ago, amounting to a letter from an alien civilization saying, “We exist.”
A 2019 paper Loeb wrote with Manasvi Lingam answers this question with a resounding “yes”, suggesting to consider the moon’s surface for interstellar objects collected over time and potentially deliver building blocks of life from the habitable environments around other stars.
“The absence of a lunar atmosphere,” writes Loeb in “The Moon as a Fishing Net for Extraterrestrial Life”, “guarantees that these messengers would reach the lunar surface without burning up. In addition, the geological inactivity of the moon implies that the record deposited on its surface will be preserved and not mixed with the deep lunar interior. Serving as a natural mailbox, the lunar surface collected all impacting objects during the past few billions of years. Most of this “mail” comes from within the solar system.”
The Astronaut of Casar Is An Unsolved Mystery, But Can We Explain It?
Some artifacts seem to be easy to misunderstand or are not well understood at all and this leads to wild theories. One of the biggest curiosities on display at the Caceres Museum in Caceres, Spain is a steleor upright stone slab that originally stood at the southern end of the cemetery in the nearby village of Casar. The carving on the stele appears to be a human figure with a misshapen head and bulbous shoulders. It has been dubbed by some “the astronaut of Casar”, but why?
The stele has an inscription, which is in Latin letters , but, so far, no one has managed to decipher the text. This has led to a great deal of speculation regarding the nature of this carving. Some fringe theorists have even gone as far as to suggest that it is an image of an of extra-terrestrial, hence the name “the astronaut of Casar.” But archaeological and linguistic analysis of the astronaut of Casar stele shows that the unusual features of the stele can all be explained with the knowledge that scholars have of the cultures and languages of ancient Iberia. Within this explanation, visitations from extra-terrestrials are not necessary. Nonetheless, the astronaut of Casar artifact does highlight ways that the science of archaeology may one day be able to contribute to the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence.

The astronaut of Casar stele was originally located in the cemetery of Casar, a village outside of the city of Caceres, Spain. The image appears to have generated a lot of local suspicion and superstition. It is alleged that villagers would cross themselves as they walked by the stele and that children would throw rocks at it.
The figure in the stele does look strange. His head is misshapen and appears slightly too large. His shoulders also appear to bulge out. Although the carving is weathered, the figure looks like he is smiling. The image has been suggested to be that of a Celtiberian warrior made in the 2nd or 1st century BC. The inscription in Latin letters suggests that it was written during Roman times or just before the Roman occupation of Iberia.
Most mysterious of all is the inscription on the astronaut of Casar stele. Although the inscription is in the Latin script it appears to be written in an unknown language . The language is not completely mysterious, however, since it is likely an Indo-European language. Nonetheless, scholars have not been able to translate it and some say that it cannot be translated.
The Astronaut Of Casar Stele Inscription Origin Theories
At the beginning of the Roman period in Spain, several languages were spoken on the Iberian Peninsula including Celtiberian, Lusitanian, Tartessian, proto-Basque, Latin, and probably Greek and Punic. Of these languages, Celtiberian, Lusitanian, Tartessian, and proto-Basque were native to the Iberian Peninsula while the others were introduced by foreign cultures.
The equally mysterious Stela of Hernan Perez VI, like the astronaut of Casar stele, was also found in Caceres, Spain. It is carved in a single granite block and shows etched eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth.
Although the astronaut of Casar stele inscription seems mysterious it could have been written in one of the lesser-known native Iberian languages. The understanding of many of the Iberian languages is fragmentary and only a handful of inscriptions or documents have been found for some of these languages.
This makes it probable that the inscription uses words from Iberian languages that have not been found in other inscriptions. The fact that it appears to be an Indo-European language may also help to identify the language. One way to identify the language is to examine each of the Iberian languages and determine which one is most likely the dialect used in the inscription on the stele.
The Inscription Could Be In The Basque Language
The original, ancient Basque language was already being spoken in northern Spain in Roman times. The Basque language is unique among western European languages in that it is a non-Indo-European language. Ancient Basque is a language isolate, and its language family is unknown. This has led to speculation about the origins of the Basque people, including the idea that they descend from Paleolithic hunter-gatherers , although current evidence suggests that they are more closely related to early Neolithic farmers .

The Basque language is agglutinative, meaning that phrases are constructed from root words using prefixes and suffixes. The Basque language also follows the SOV (subject-object-verb) word order, in contrast to languages, such as English, that have a SVO (subject-verb-object) word order. Other languages that are SOV, like Basque, include Japanese and Turkish.
The ancient Basque language influenced the development of Castilian Spanish. Certain features of the Spanish language, such as the lack of consonant clusters, are features that come from the Basque language. Furthermore, certain Spanish words, such as arroyo and izquierda, are Basque in origin.
Although the Basque language, or at least a proto-Basque language, existed during the time the astronaut of Casar stele was made, it was largely restricted to northern Spain. However, the stele was found in southwestern Spain near the modern Portugal border. Also, the inscription appears to be Indo-European, suggesting that the language was more likely a Celtic or Romance language, the two Indo-European language groups that were most prevalent in the Iberian Peninsula at the time. All these facts suggest Basque may not be the best way to figure out the inscription on the astronaut of Casar stele.
Celtiberian was spoken on the Iberian Peninsula until about the 1st century BC. Celtiberian is a Celtic language that is related to the Gaelic languages of Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man. This is interesting because the Irish Book of Invasions claims that the Irish descended from the Milesians who were supposed to have come from Iberia.

The Celtiberians are described by Roman writers as having been a mixture of Celtic and native Iberian stock. They may have been related to the Hallstatt culture, a Celtic culture known across Europe, which first entered the Iberian Peninsula around 600 BC.
About two hundred Celtiberian inscriptions have been found. Considering the possible origin of the Celtiberians as a mixed Celtic and Iberian population, the Celtiberian language may have loanwords from early non-Indo-European Iberian languages. The Celtiberians also used their own script, which was similar to other Iberian scripts.
It is possible that the inscription on the stele is in Celtiberian, but the Celtiberian language is relatively well known and would be more likely to be recognized. Also, the Celtiberians lived to the northeast of the region in which the stele was found. This makes it less likely that the inscription was in Celtiberian.
Would Lusitanian Be A Better Candidate?
Lusitanian was a language spoken in western Iberia. It is named for the realm of the Lusitania, where inscriptions in the Lusitanian language have been found. However, few inscriptions in the Lusitanian language have been uncovered possibly suggesting that the language was not typically used for official documents or written declarations. The Lusitanian language appears to have been mainly written in the Latin script even though native scripts are found in surrounding regions.
Lusitanian was spoken in the general vicinity of the region in which the stele was found. Also, the Lusitanian language was generally written in the Latin script used for the astronaut of Casar stele inscription. The timeframe of when the language was used, from the 1st century BC to the 2nd century AD, is also roughly consistent with the period during which scholars believe that the stele was made.
Nonetheless, Lusitanian is still a fairly well-known language so a Lusitanian inscription might be more likely to be recognized. For this reason, it is possible that the inscription is written in a yet rarer, or at least less well-known, Indo-European language.
Maybe The Tartessian Language Is The Key
The Tartessian language was spoken in southwestern Iberia in what is today southern Portugal and southwestern Spain. It is named for the city of Tartessus known for its great wealth. The region surrounding Tartessus was considered highly valuable by ancient civilizations such as the Phoenicians, the Greeks, and probably the Romans, because of its silver mines. The region of Tartessus was also distinctive in having retained a largely pre-Celtic, Iberian character, whereas the northern parts of Iberia were more influenced by Celtic culture or conquered by Celtic peoples who displaced or absorbed the native Iberian populations.
The Tartessian language used its own script which has not yet been deciphered. For this reason, the Tartessian language is shrouded in mystery. It is uncertain whether Tartessian was a Celtic language or more related to pre-Celtic Iberian languages. Some scholars believe that Tartessian was related to Lusitanian and some even call it southern Lusitanian.
It is not known if Latin letters were ever used to write Tartessian or if Tartessian continued to be spoken into Roman times. The latest inscriptions in the Tartessian script only date to the 5th century BC. Nonetheless, The Tartessian language was probably spoken in the vicinity of where the stele was found, and it is a language that is largely unknown and undeciphered. For this reason, it is possible that the language of the inscription could be Tartessian.
This is speculation, but it is possible that the stele could have been made by a community living in the vicinity of modern-day Caceres which lived in Roman times but still spoke Tartessian or Lusitanian as a mother tongue. They may have forgotten how to write the script of their mother tongue, so they wrote the inscription using Latin letters.
Was The Man of Casar An Ancient Astronaut?
There has been much speculation among fringe theorists that the man depicted on the Casar stele is not a human being. This is mainly due to the unusually shaped head and bulging shoulders of the figure that make it look like he is wearing a spacesuit. The oddly shaped head bears a passing resemblance to the big-headed aliens of popular science fiction and UFO lore.
Some think the odd shape is reminiscent of a space suit.
Although this is an interesting idea, all the evidence surrounding the stele can be explained by conventional means. The inscription is in an unknown language, but it is most-likely Indo-European. Also, the stele appears to be extremely weathered so the misshapen appearance of the head could be due to time and weathering. Moreover, it could be that he is wearing a helmet, or it could be his hairstyle. Also, besides the passing resemblance to modern depictions of extra-terrestrials or astronauts, there is nothing unusual or otherworldly about the man on the stele. It looks like it was carved out of stone by human tools and it fits into the archaeological and historical context of Celtiberian and Roman Spain. The only reason to believe that the figure is an extra-terrestrial is if there is a strong desire on the part of the observer for the figure to be an extra-terrestrial.
Another reason that it is unlikely that this is an extra-terrestrial is the low probability that an intelligent being from another planet would resemble a human being. The fact that it looks so human makes it likely that it is meant to depict something that is earthly in origin.
Implications For The Search For Extra-terrestrial Life
Most claims that particular archaeological discoveries reveal past visitations by life from another planet have eventually been disproven or at least found to be unconvincing. Nonetheless, this does not mean that there is no place for archaeology in the search for evidence of extra-terrestrial intelligence on planet earth.
The big question about extra-terrestrials is did they visit planet earth or didn’t they?
The vast majority of organisms that have evolved over the course of the earth’s history have gone extinct. It is likely that the same rule applies on other planets where life and civilization have evolved. For this reason, we will probably find an extinct extra-terrestrial civilization before we find a living one.
Therefore, it makes sense to use archaeological methods to search for extra-terrestrial intelligence. One way to conduct exo-archaeology would be to look at nearby stars for signs of megastructures, such as Dyson spheres. This would use the tools of astrophysics and would not be significantly different from traditional SETI research approaches, which focus on extra-solar and extra-terrestrial intelligence.
Another approach that could be considered exo-archaeology would be to use the remote sensing tools of planetary science to survey planetary surfaces, such as the moon and Mars. It is unlikely that anything would be found from such a survey, but the discovery that another technological civilization existed in our solar system would be extraordinary. So, a low-cost search of high-resolution images from spacecraft that have visited the Moon and Mars would seem a good start.
Finding extra-terrestrial intelligence, however, requires critical thinking and careful analysis of the evidence. Claims such as the astronaut of Casar can be easily explained without any extra-terrestrials. A true archaeological discovery of intelligent life outside of Earth would be one which was unmistakably non-earthly in origin, such as the discovery of artificial structures made of materials that did not exist anywhere else on earth or in our solar system.
Conclusion? The Astronaut Of Casar Was Human Made!
The astronaut of Casar stele is mysterious but the inscription and the appearance of the figure can both be explained without involving any theories about extra-terrestrials. Nonetheless, the astronaut of Casar does reveal the increasing enthusiasm for archaeology as a big part of the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence. Archaeology does have a role to play in this quest, but the so-called astronaut of Casar is really nothing more than an example of earthly archaeology being mistaken for something otherworldly.

Scientists with NASA’s Juno mission say they have detected sprites or elves – electrical phenomena above thunderstorms on Earth – in the clouds of Jupiter for the first time. Unlike the red-colored earthly ones however, the Jovian ones are blue.

Lightning sprites are fleeting but powerful electrical discharges high up in Earth’s atmosphere … above thunderstorms. They’re called transient luminous events or TLEs by scientists. They are eerily beautiful, and not easy to capture on film, and it wasn’t that long ago that scientists were debating their existence in Earth’s atmosphere. Now they’re a confirmed natural phenomenon on Earth – the subject of much study by meteorologists – and nature photographers sometimes capture them. And now NASA has found the first evidence of sprites and/or elves – rapidly expanding disk-shaped regions of luminosity, lasting less than a thousandth of a second – somewhere other than Earth. They’ve found them in the turbulent upper atmosphere of our solar system’s largest planet, Jupiter.
The peer-reviewed findings were announced by scientists with the Juno mission at Jupiter and published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets on October 27, 2020. The results were also presented in a press conference during the annual meeting of the American Astronomical Society’s Division for Planetary Sciences (DPS 2020).
Scientists had theorized that sprites or elves should be present in Jupiter’s atmosphere, but this is the first good evidence that they actually exist. How did they find them?
Along with taking images in regular light, Juno also views Jupiter with its ultraviolet spectrograph instrument (UVS). In the summer of 2019, researchers were studying these images and discovered something interesting: a narrow, bright streak of ultraviolet light, which appeared to be what scientists had hoped to find, a sprite.

Rohini Giles, a Juno scientist at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and lead author of the new study, said in a statement:
UVS was designed to characterize Jupiter’s beautiful northern and southern lights. But we discovered UVS images that not only showed Jovian aurora, but also a bright flash of UV light over in the corner where it wasn’t supposed to be. The more our team looked into it, the more we realized Juno may have detected a TLE on Jupiter.
In the process of putting together those images, we noticed that very occasionally we saw these surprising, short-lived, bright flashes. We then went and searched through all of the data that we’ve taken over four years of the mission and we found a total of 11 flashes all with very similar properties.
Since this is still an initial detection, scientists don’t yet know how common sprites are on Jupiter. But finding the first one is an exciting discovery. Sprites had been predicted on Jupiter by several previous studies, but this is the first direct evidence of them.

The sprites detected by Juno were found in a region where lightning is also known to occur. The Juno scientists determined that these new flashes were not regular lightning because they were found 186 miles (300 km) above the altitude where the majority of Jupiter’s lightning occurs, above the water-cloud layer in the atmosphere. The flashes were also dominated by hydrogen emissions, unlike other lightning on the planet.
Sprites on Earth are rather bizarre-looking, sort of like a jellyfish with a central diffuse halo and long tentacles descending downward. They tend to occur up to 60 miles (97 km) above thunderstorms, and only last a few milliseconds, quicker than the blink of an eye, which explains why they had been rarely seen until pilots started reporting them. There weren’t even any good photographs of them until 1989, when experimental physicist John R. Winckler (1916-2001) captured one while testing a low-light television camera. Nowadays, you can find many photographs of them, such as on SpaceWeather.com.
Sprites on Earth are typically reddish, but may be different colors on Jupiter. Giles said:
On Earth, sprites and elves appear reddish in color due to their interaction with nitrogen in the upper atmosphere. But on Jupiter, the upper atmosphere mostly consists of hydrogen, so they would likely appear either blue or pink.
These sprites happen when a lightning strike produces a high-altitude quasi-electrostatic field. In other cases, lightning strikes send electromagnetic pulses upward, producing glowing disks called elves.
Lightning has also been seen on Jupiter by Juno such as this flash (bright dot in lower right corner of inset) on May 24, 2018. The colorful oval is an aurora near the north pole.
From the ground, sprites may not look all that big, but they can be about 30 miles (50 km) across. Matthew Cappucci of the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang said last year:

Juno has also previously observed lightning on Jupiter. The discovery of both lightning and sprites highlights how Jupiter’s atmosphere is similar to Earth’s in some ways, at least visually. It is, however, much deeper and more turbulent, with long-lived storms that dwarf any ever seen on our planet, and is composed mostly of hydrogen and helium.
Lightning strikes on Jupiter are also more powerful, although less frequent. Most are seen in the Jovian belts and near the westward jet streams. Some lightning flashes have also been seen at Jupiter’s poles, making it the only other planet besides Earth so far where polar lightning has been observed. As with thunderstorms on Earth, Jupiter’s lightning is closely associated with its massive storms.

These first detections of sprites or elves on Jupiter are exciting, and now scientists will continue to look for more of them, as Giles noted:
We’re continuing to look for more telltale signs of elves and sprites every time Juno does a science pass. Now that we know what we are looking for, it will be easier to find them at Jupiter and on other planets. And comparing sprites and elves from Jupiter with those here on Earth will help us better understand electrical activity in planetary atmospheres.

Its been long believed that some disk clouds contain UFOs. That UFOs can not only cloak to become invisible, but they can also create a cloud formation around them. This one has a line down the middle, probably caused from the cloud being pushed around there alien craft hidden within.

Today I was on Google Mars and found a crater called Lomonosov that was surrounded with hills of yellow gold. One of these hills measures 12km long and 3.5km wide. I'm wondering if a rare meteor that had a high concentration of yellow gold impacted and created this crater on Mars. Gold of course is not the most valuable minerals that would be needed on earth, but it is very noticeable from a long distance in large amounts. Some meteorites have contained various amounts of gold, but this is an massive amount if its is what it appears to be.

Hey guys, I was closing my window for the night at work when I saw these strange lights in the sky. They are not spot lights. I walked over there after work and saw nothing in that area for three blocks. I have never seen these lights in this location before, so I began to record a short video of them. I was still at work and wanted to say goodbye to some kids in person so I ended the video after a minute and a half. Twenty minutes later after work the lights were gone, but I walked that way to go home and saw nothing in that location. I believe these to be some kind of energy ships with energy beings abroad. They don't have a pattern to their movements and are moving unpredictably. Aliens over my home, I'm not surprised.

While much of the world is on lockdown for protection at night...these strange lights were seen in the distance in Oklahoma. The lights are similar to what I expect some UFOs to appear like when landing. The eyewitness said he had no idea what this mysterious light was or what was causing it. A door security cam alerted a person that it had recoded something that may be important. When they looked at the video, they saw a strange object passing over their home. The object is huge, 747 size, but its not a plane, because it has no wings, body, lights. Its not a cloud because its moving really fast. However it does look like a cloaked UFO. The security cam is using a special IR (infrared camera) to record at night. The human eye cannot see infrared light, but the cam can...and did. This one is flying really low...I would say 300 meters above the ground. I wonder if they were visiting the homes below to check Covid19 infected and recovered people for symptoms, effects of the virus before and after catching it, but most of all...checking for new mutations of the virus. Most mutations are less dangerous than the original, but I do believe this ship was trying to find such a mutation and stop it before it spreads.
