In November 2021, a photo from China’s Yutu 2 Rover was released showing. According to JP, a pseudonym for my longtime source who currently serves with the US Army, China’s space force (the People’s Liberation Army Strategy Support Force) and US Space Command have recently begun joint missions to explore the object, and that he participated in one of the first missions.

JP claims that early in the morning of December 23, he was sent to a secret research facility on the Moon on a triangle-shaped antigravity vehicle, and was then taken to the giant spacecraft that was partially submerged under the lunar surface. JP says part of the craft’s exterior had been discovered by China’s Yutu 2 rover, and that a joint operation to explore the craft, which was the size of two aircraft carriers had begun between US Space Command and the PLA’s space force.

JP said the giant alien spacecraft was discovered when it began to activate after an extraterrestrial fleet entered our solar system in October, and parked itself between Jupiter and Ganymede. JP participated in an earlier classified mission to Ganymede where he met with some of the extraterrestrial visitors. In this Exopolitics Today interview, JP discusses his role in the classified Moon mission and what he witnessed first-hand.

While this family was out for an late evening walk they noticed these two objects in the sky, at first the objects where not moving but then of the UFOs started to move in what can only be described as a "dance in sky" as if it was performing for this family. Bring up the matter of cattle mutilations and, in all likelihood, it will lead into a UFO connection to the disturbing, grisly phenomenon. The fact is, though, there are good reasons to believe that the mutilations have absolutely nothing to do with aliens and UFOs. The truth is worse. Much worse. Since at least 1967, reports have surfaced throughout the United States of animals – but, chiefly, cattle – slaughtered in bizarre fashion. Organs are taken and significant amounts of blood are found to be missing. In some cases, the limbs of the cattle are broken, suggesting they have been dropped to the ground from a significant height. Evidence of extreme heat, to slice into the skin of the animals, has been found at mutilation sites. Eyes are removed, tongues are sliced off, and, typically, the sexual organs are gone. While the answers to the puzzle remain frustratingly outside of the public arena, theories abound. They include extraterrestrials, engaged in nightmarish experimentation of the genetic kind; military programs involving the testing of new bio-warfare weapons; occult-based groups that sacrifice the cattle in ritualistic fashion; and government agencies secretly monitoring the food chain, fearful that something worse than “Mad Cow Disease” may have infected portions of the U.S. cattle herd – and, possibly, as a result, the human population, too. Not only that, the notorious black helicopters are often seen at mutilation sites.

As I said above, it was 1967 when reports began. At least, that’s what numerous Ufologists will assure you. The fact, though, is that government agencies have been carefully and quietly watching the United States’ cattle since the 1940s. And I’m not talking about alien agencies. I’m talking of human agencies. By stating that the phenomenon kicked-off in the Sixties made it sound like the mystery suddenly surfaced out of nowhere. The mystery – for the farmers, at least – was around for decades earlier. J.R. Ruggle, the FBI Special-Agent-in-Charge at the Savannah, Georgia office of the Bureau in the early-to-mid 1940s, wrote thus to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover on February 3, 1943: “This office has received a copy of a communication from John T. Bissel, Colonel, General Staff, Assistant Executive Officer, Military Intelligence Service, Washington, D.C., dated December 29, 1942, to directors of intelligence in all Service commands…”

Colonel Bissel’s communication read as follows: “It has been brought to the attention of this division the possibility in the immediate future of an attempt on the part of the enemy to plant bombs containing germs or to endeavor to create an epidemic, such as hoof and mouth disease, among cattle and other livestock. It is requested that should any information concerning the above come to the attention of the Directors of Intelligence of the Service Commands or the A.C. of S. [Assistant Chief of Staff], G-2 [Army Intelligence], Western Defense Command, that the same be transmitted by the most expeditious means to the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-2 War Department.” Evidently, such matters were of keen concern to U.S. Intelligence. And that concern did not go away any time soon. In 1944, the FBI prepared a document that dealt with the scenario of a widespread attack on the U.S. cattle herd via unconventional, bacteriological warfare. The document states:

Helicopters but no UFOs

“A review of the book entitled ‘Sabotage’ by Michael Sayers and Albert E. Kahn, which was published in September of 1942, discloses the following data: The complete record of sabotage carried out by Chernov, supposedly of the German Intelligence service in Russia during 1930 to 1936 is too long to put into the book according to the authors, but includes – killing off pedigree breed-stock and raising cattle mortality by artificially infecting cattle with various kinds of bacteria – effecting a shortage of serum to counteract epidemics of anthrax so that, in one instance, 25,000 horses perished as a result of Chernov’s sabotage – infecting tens of thousands of pigs with erysipelas and with certain plagues by having virulent bacteria placed in medicinal sera.”

What this tells us is that government agencies have been secretly watching America’s cattle herds since the Second World War. None of the data above has a proven a UFO connection. And, based on the timeline from the 1940s, there’s no reason why that should be the same for the 1960s-1980s cases: zero aliens. Now, let’s bring matters to more recent times. Colm Kelleher is an investigative writer who has diligently pursued the cattle mutilation issue. Indeed, his book Brain Trust has the subtitle of  “The Hidden Connection Between Mad Cow and Misdiagnosed Alzheimer’s Disease.” A bone-chilling connection between Alzheimer’s, cattle mutilations and the cattle herd: wouldn’t it be very easy to hide the truth behind an “it’s all aliens” angle? Yes, it most definitely would be very easy. Why? Because the UFO angle provides a convenient cover. Cattle mutilations: forget creatures from outer-space. Look right here on Earth for the answer to the mutilations.

The world’s most famous dimming star is KIC 8462852, better known as “Tabby’s Star” for Tabetha S. Boyajian, the astronomer whose scientific paper in 2015 revealed its peculiar propensity for dimming and glowing at irregular intervals. Speculation on causes for the dimmings ranged from dust rings to planetary debris to a second smaller binary star to an extremely large planet to the ever-popular alien-constructed Dyson sphere harvesting Tabby’s energy. While none of these conclusively explain Tabby’s dimmings, they raise the bar for other similar stars and objects to catch the attention of astronomers and the public. A candidate for 15 minutes of flame-on-flame-off fame emerged this week and it could be nicknamed ‘Dusty’ for the star-dimming cloud it’s causing, or “Wacky’ for the strange and mysterious way it operates.

“We report the discovery of a unique object of uncertain nature—but quite possibly a disintegrating asteroid or minor planet—orbiting one star of the widely separated binary TIC 400799224.”

TIC 400799224 was discovered by a team of astronomers using the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS – TIC stands for TESS Input Catalog). TESS specializes in finding small exoplanets and that’s kind of what TIC 400799224 is – an exoplanet orbiting a star system around 2,300 light-years away. The Center for Astrophysics (a collaboration between the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and Harvard College Observatory) reports that CfA astronomer Karen Collins and the team found the object by accident when they noticed a 25% rapid drop in brightness for a few hours, followed by several sharp jumps in brightness similar to an eclipse. (A photo can be seen here.) However, this was like no eclipse they had seen before.

An optical/near-infrared image of the sky around the TESS Input Catalog (TIC) object TIC 400799224 (the crosshair marks the location of the object, and the width of the field of view is given in arcminutes). Astronomers have concluded that the mysterious periodic variations in the light from this object are caused by an orbiting body that periodically emits clouds of dust that occult the star.

“Follow-up speckle imaging determined that TIC 400799224 is actually two stars of similar brightness at 0farcs62 separation, forming a likely bound binary with projected separation of ∼300 au.”

For one thing, what they thought was a star is actually a binary system, with one star pulsating every 19.77 days. The erratic dimming is being caused by an object, probably a disintegrating exoplanet, that periodically emits clouds of dust. Beyond that, the astronomers can’t tell which star the dusty object is orbiting … a key bit of information that could explain the erratic dips in brightness.

“The cloud is also fairly optically thick, blocking up to 37% or 75% of the light from the host star, depending on the true host.”

According to the Center for Astrophysics, the quantity of dust emitted is quite large in relation to the size of the exoplanet – enough to cause a quick disintegration. Yet the observations show the object has not been reduced in size despite losing so much dust. That makes ‘Dusty’ unique.

“(TIC 400799224 ‘s) detailed properties differ in significant ways from the other objects listed in Table 1 and, therefore, TIC 400799224 may be in a category of its own.”

The team will continue to observe TIC 400799224 to determine what it is. Should Tabby be worried that the new dimming kid in town will take some of the spotlight astronomic spotlight away from her? Unless the astronomers think the dust is a Dyson sphere, she has nothing to worry about.

China Big Panic: Russia just gave its Navy hypersonic nuclear strike weapons and the target is not the US, it’s China

Russia has made a massive defence manoeuvre. The Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that the Russian Navy will be armed with hypersonic nuclear strike weapons and underwater nuclear drones. Putin has often spoken of Russia’s next-gen hypersonic missile weapons, which he has called “unequalled”.

These hypersonic missiles can hit any part of the world according to the Russian President. The Russian Navy plans to become a supreme naval power with these new generation arms and while it has generated a lot of fears in the United States due to anachronistic formulations of the Cold War-era, Moscow seems to be preparing itself against a more realistic threat posed by an expansionist China right in its backyard. From the Arctic to the South China Sea, Russia has a lot of interests to protect from China. Putin is thinking about how geopolitical equations will change in the medium-term and the long-term, while it will continue to share an “axis of convenience” with the Chinese Communist Party. In the medium-term, Russia is getting pulled into the Indo-Pacific by an increasingly assertive India, an old friend of Russia. 

Russian policymakers continue to dismiss the Indo-Pacific as divisive and anti-China. At an official level, Russia claims to have nothing to do with the Indo-Pacific. But this official Russian stand is a mere eyewash at the best to keep China at bay. Russia has a lot to do with the Indo-Pacific as it shares a 4,500 kilometres-long Pacific coastline in the Russian Far East. Communist China has traditionally laid its eyes on the resource-rich Russian Far East.

In fact, recently Chinese wolf-warriors staked claim on the Russian Far East city- Vladivostok. India hasn’t let the opportunity go. New Delhi has been pushing a Chennai-Vladivostok sea route that passes through the South China Sea, which too China claims as its own. In this backdrop, the Indian envoy to Russia, D. B. Venkatesh Varma recently said that India wants Russia to be more involved in the Indo-Pacific to protect its own interests, amid the rising threat posed by China.

Watch this raw footage as a lone orb moves across the sky and over New York. The object appears red and is moving slowly as if it were watching the people below. The sky is overcast and makes the object disappear faster as its moves off. Because of the overcast sky, we now know this object is below the clouds, not behind the clouds, thus rules out Venus, stars, satellites, and such. The case of Arcesio Bermúdez is one of the most interesting cases of Alien attacks on humans. It all started with strange UFO sightings and ended with the death of Arcesio Bermúdez who suffered from an unknown illness and crystallized to death.

This strange case happened on July 4, 1969, in an area known as Anolaima, located near Bogotá.

People of Anolaima had reported strange UFO sightings few days prior to the incident.

On July 4, 1969, Arcesio Bermúdez was in his country house in the company of several friends and family. There were about 13 people at his house who all stood witness to the strange UFO and the incident which led to the death of Arcesio.

Late at night, everyone in the house noticed a strange small object which emitted a very bright light hovering above their house. The object then began to descend and land on the farm which terrified everyone present there.

Before settling on the ground the object made several erratic movements just above the house.

Everyone was terrified but, Arcesio who was filled up with courage grabbed a flashlight and headed straight for the light emanating from the UFO. Unfortunately for Arcesio, He never suspected that having done this would have fatal consequences.

At a distance of approximately 2 meters, Arcesio spotted a small being inside the ship. The alien, upon noticing the man’s presence, responded by attacking him with a beam of light that made him fly through the air.

After this mysterious event, the days for Arcesio were of agony. He began to suffer terrible pain, in addition to dehydration that consumed him in such a way that he died within the next 5 days of the incident.

Cesar Esmeral, the doctor who treated Arcesio, who became Colombia’s Minister of Health, declared that this was a unique case. Within a few days, before he died, his body temperature was so low that he was surprised he was still alive.

Most surprising were some blood samples that were taken. It was certified that the blood that had been drawn from his veins was crystallized.

The most disturbing thing about the matter is that, after several investigations, both scientific and police, total silence was kept. The case was never made public.

Today, the place is still frequented by ” Men in Black, ” according to witnesses. They have been seen taking samples from the place where the man was crystallized, although the government never ruled on the matter.

Another strange event related to this attack is that it is believed that the crystallized body of Arcesio was extracted from the tomb.

It is extremely strange and disturbing for a man to end up totally crystallized after an alien attack. Obviously, skeptics doubt this story, but the case is still being studied by different researchers.

'Doughnut UFO' over Switzerland defies explanation

A photographer in Zurich, Switzerland, spotted the glowing object while four SpaceX astronauts returned to Earth thousands of miles away.

The 'doughnut UFO' spotted over Switzerland appeared the same night as SpaceX's Endeavor capsule reentry.

On the night of Monday, Nov. 8, a photographer in Zurich, Switzerland, who goes by the Twitter handle @Eavix1Eavix aimed his camera at the sky and snapped several pictures of what he aptly described as a "doughnut UFO."

Composed of several bright-blue concentric rings, the flying object looked as much like a spacecraft as a breakfast treat. The photographer suspected he had actually glimpsed SpaceX's Endeavour capsule, which was scheduled to return to Earth that night with four astronauts who had just concluded a 200-day stay on the International Space Station. British tabloid site The Daily Mail even included the eerie photos in a roundup of Endeavour sightings the next day.

But there's a problem with this story: When the Endeavour capsule splashed down a little after 10:30 p.m. EDT that night, it landed half a world away in the Gulf of Mexico — more than 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) from Zurich.

While spectators in Louisiana, Alabama and several other Gulf states saw clear views of the capsule streaming across the sky, it is almost impossible that anyone in Switzerland would have been able to see the craft's reentry, Marco Langbroek, an amateur satellite tracker and academic researcher at Leiden University in the Netherlands, told Live Science in an email.

"Any passes [of Endeavour] over Switzerland prior to landing that night would have been completely in Earth's shadow, i.e. it would not be illuminated by the sun and hence not visible," Langbroek said. "Reentry itself was over Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico, and would not have been visible from Switzerland. The deorbit burn, prior to reentry, was over the Indian Ocean, so also not visible from Switzerland."

So, if the donut UFO wasn't a SpaceX craft, then what was it? According to Langbroek, the unidentified flying object over Switzerland may not have been flying at all; it could have been the garbled image of a distant star.

"I am pretty certain that the 'donut UFO' on the Swiss images is an out-of-focus image of a bright star," Langbroek said. "It quite looks like it."

Still, other images that the photographer snapped that night seem to show a zig-zagging trail of light behind the object — suggesting it was indeed moving.

According to Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Massachusetts, it's possible that the doughnut UFO was the upper stage of a rocket — that is, the small, topmost section of a rocket used to propel a craft into orbit — reentering the atmosphere and burning up. 

However, without a precise time frame for the photos, it's difficult to tie the mysterious lights to any known object that was in the sky that night, McDowell told Live Science in an email. (Live Science requested time stamps for the images, but the photographer was unable to provide them.)

Star, rocket or something else entirely? For now, the doughnut UFO over Switzerland is keeping its secrets — and remains a truly unidentified flying object.

Scientists Can’t Explain These Findings – It Is Beyond Our Understanding

Archeological discoveries are made on a regular basis, and that is a reality, but the issue is that many of them are truly unfathomable from a scientific standpoint.

No matter how much study tries to demonize theorists and label them as lunatics, the truth remains that the theories they generate are riddled with contradictions and holes.

They’d rather imagine 100 crippled slaves lifting 50-ton boulders about 100 feet in the air with little more than pure muscle power, acquiring some technological advancement from an ancient alien life form.

They’d like to believe that these “out of timeline” objects are nothing more than rocks and stones, despite the fact that they’re clearly valid and make no sense from a timeline standpoint, such as 400,000-year-old light bulbs and toy spaceships that are well over 6,000 years old.

Aliens’ carvings have arrived on Earth to rule over humans.

Ancient bunkers that show the existence of nuclear technology a million years ago, as well as evidence of the nuclear fallout that melted the earth into glass.

Humans self-mutilate their bodies to imitate the travelers’ elongated, egg-shaped heads, and so on.

There’s so much we don’t understand out there, and though ignoring them may be science’s way of coping, we’d rather be believers than liars.

Machu Picchu – everyone’s favorite Inca site high in the Andes mountains of Peru – is one of those onion-style archeological sites that keeps revealing new features as mysterious layers are peeled away. The year 2021 ended with a major ‘peel’ for the site as LiDAR-equipped drones helped find 12 previously unknown small structures in Machu Picchu National Park which help identify the caretakers of the complex back in the 15th century. The LiDAR also revealed previously unknown canals that show how the Incas controlled water – a feat they believed was a ‘superpower’ granted to them by the gods.

“The Chachabamba archaeological site contains a unique water complex erected and modified by the Incas. Based on archaeological investigations within the ceremonial sector, it has been established that the function of this water complex was strictly ceremonial.”

As described in a new study published in the Journal of Archaeological Science, a team of researchers from the Center for Andean Studies at the University of Warsaw and the Wroclaw (Poland) University of Science and Technology focused new efforts on Chachabamba, a ceremonial water complex surrounding the Machu Picchu citadel that both demonstrated the power of the Inca peoples and offered pilgrims ritual baths, gardens and fountains. Using data from drones with lidar (light detection and ranging) systems flying very low over the dense vegetation covering much of Chachabamba, they found 12 small structures that appeared to be homes of those who were responsible for the amenities of Chachabamba.

“There are indications that it was mainly women who looked after the complex. as suggested by objects discovered during previous excavations by a Polish-Peruvian team.”

Dominika Sieczkowska from the Center for Andean Studies told Heritage Daily that despite the ornateness of Machu Picchu and Chachabamba, the homes of the female caretakers were plain … some things never change. The hydraulic systems of Chachabamba were functioning until mudslides destroyed part of it in 2012 and the area became overgrown. The LiDAR drones and computer simulations from their data helped the researchers see just how sophisticated the system was when operational and impressing the enemies of the Incas.

“Part of the system was destroyed, and the current study was conducted to answer such unknowns as how much water flowed through the system, which watercourse flowed into the system, and how fast. Artnet News explains that researchers now know the power water played in the reputation of the Incas as they conquered other cultures from Argentina to Ecuador – and Chachabamba was the center of that power. And yet, we now know the caretakers of such power were women, not men. This fits in with the belief of some historians that men and women held equal stature and equal responsibilities in Inca society – a practice looked down upon by the invading Europeans because women had no such stature in their societies.

One wonders how different things might have been if the Europeans tried to learn from the Incas rather than conquer them.

While searching though the NASA space station cam footage I found one video that stood apart from the rest. A triangle craft was seen near the space station about 50 meters away from it. The craft is huge about 40+ meters across! Its speed is matched with that of the space station. Live cams don't lie. This raw footage is 100% proof that alien craft visit the space station whenever they feel like it. I doubt that they dock with the space station, but they clearly are sending a message to the astronauts on board the ISS that they exist, and they were there first.

This raw footage just came in. An object was falling from space with a thick but short smoke wall all around it when the eyewitness caught sight of it. It was depending slowly, much too slow to be a meteor. The cloud all around it rules out SpaceX landing, since the craft should not have such damage or create such a cloud around it. This looks like an alien craft disguised as a meteor so it will go unnoticed and get easily dismissed by eyewitnesses. Aliens often try to outsmart humans by taking modest steps to hiding, thinking they don't need try harder since aliens are more intelligent than humans, however...their ego clearly got in the way here.

On December 26, Exopolitics US Army source, JP, was given a set of geographical coordinates from an unnamed Lt Colonel (USAF) who simply told him to publicly release them.

Leaving work area to begin my driving route and noticed a bright large orange/red orb in the distance towards the eastern horizon. Noting this I turned towards the overpass at 41st and union and immediately see a group of 3 or so large pulsating orbs appearing over a billboard and directly in front of me. They pulsated at such a slow rate and they didn’t project light like a plane or drone. The orbs looked “bio luminescent” In a way. The Department of Defense has reports of vehicles not made on this planet.

According to information provided by the NY Times, Davis has released classified material to the Department of Defense about “vehicles not manufactured on this planet,” as well as other reports of the recovery of unexplained objects, to both the Senate Armed Services Committee and committee members. Senate intelligence, in particular to the interim president, Marco Rubio, Republican senator from Florida.

In an interview with CBS4, Rubio pointed out that “we have strange things flying over our military bases and the places where we are conducting military exercises.” Rubio added that “we don\’t know what these things are. We know that they are not US projects or Chinese or Russian technology projects, so they are real security problems ”.

UFO enthusiast, Vaultteam6 spotted three lights floating in a triangle formation over Columbus, Ohio on New Year's Eve - just months after a similar sighting was made in the UK

A man claims to have seen a triangular ' UFO ' with 'cloaking abilities' on New Year's Eve - in a sighting that is eerily similar to one made in Britain just a few months ago.

UFO enthusiast Vaultteam6 managed to capture a video of the mysterious object flying over Columbus Ohio, and it shows three lights floating in a triangular shape, as the Daily Star reports.

The clip is very similar to a video captured by a doorbell camera in Britain in November, as Matt Doughty, 43, was baffled by a strange triangular object gliding over his house in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

The new sighting, which has been shared on Reddit, left the witness shocked as the lights suddenly disappeared - leaving him to think the UFO has the ability to make itself invisible.

Evora’s Creature: “An Extraterrestrial Organism In Portugal”

The event that shook the city of Evora, Portugal, November 2, 1959. Evora’s creature was an extraterrestrial organism captured and analyzed 61 years ago in Portugal.

It all starts after the appearance of a UFO in the city. The director of the School of Industry and Commerce, Joaquim Guedes do Amaral, was at his daily work when his colleagues warned of a strange object flying over Evora.

Half an hour later, another UFO appeared, which could be described as something similar to a jellyfish.

This object swayed and moved across the sky at great speed, sometimes stopping and moving on. It eventually stopped, remaining steady in the air for about half an hour, before setting off further at high speed.

As soon as this happened, rare white gelatinous threads began to fall out throughout the territory. It almost completely cover everything with a thick white layer.

People were evacuated. The military and scientists from the University of Lisbon took samples of the strange organism. Despite the fact that its structure was fragile and difficult to assemble.

Analyzes have led to the conclusion that this is a single-celled organism, possibly a microbe with unknown characteristics. Where did it come from?

Evora’s strange creature

Within 4 hours, some strange white “web” fell. An acquaintance of Professor Joaquim Conceisao e Silva underwent aviation training at the base in Sintra. He also witnessed the events observed at the university.

All these phenomena were confirmed by the military, Conceisao and Silva. Years later, he became Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Air Force.

Professor Joaquin contacted his friend Eugenio, father of Conceicao, who was a member of the French Astronomical Society. They both ran tests on a strange substance that appeared to be a creature.

When the plates were placed for analysis, it turned out that the substance was showing resistance. Which is not typical for any known microorganism on Earth. From this study, a report was compiled that described the following:

“The microorganism Evora was about 4 mm in size, consisting of tentacles. Actively exhibits protective reactions to laboratory plates. Subsequent studies have shown that its tentacles can withstand pressures of up to 350 grams.

At the beginning of the observation, it had different colors. The central body was yellow, intensely red tentacles, at the same time the colors changed, giving a brownish yellow color. Which was getting darker and darker.

The tentacles was formed by parallel filaments connected by a gelatinous substance. Each thread was transparent. Inside, one could see little bodies that grew larger over time.

The threads was projected forcefully onto the glass plate to create a perfectly contoured line of contact. There was a mouth-shaped opening in the center of the central body, around very delicate designs. There may be folds or cracks in the substance of which it is composed.

These observations were carried out for 2 years, until the tentacles and the central body finally disintegrated.”

Origin hypothesis

A hypothesis put forward by several scientists and researchers was that Evora’s creature was “a strange creature completely unknown to terrestrial biology. This can be considered the first discovered evidence of extraterrestrial life. ”

The researchers who carefully examined this case by formulating this hypothesis were: Francisco Mouran Correa, coordinator of exopolitics of Portugal, Javier Sierra, several biologists and researchers of UFO phenomena.

Professors of the Faculty of Sciences of Lisbon interrupted the studies of Professor Joaquim Amaral at the faculty, forced not to provide any information to the press.

In 1978, a fire broke out at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Lisbon, destroying evidence that the creature from Evora did exist. Mysteriously, the firefighters were unable to bring down the flames that had flared up close to the microorganism.

To date, it is not known what happened to the investigation, what or who the fire. And whether they were entrusted to another department. Everything seems to indicate that this is an attempt to silence an extraterrestrial phenomenon.

NASA's Perseverance rover has taken six rock samples, captured 100,000 images of the Red Planet, and travelled 1.8 miles during its first year on Mars.

The SUV-sized rover touched down on Mars' Jezero Crater in February 2021, following a seven minutes of terror descent to the Martian surface. 

In the 10 months since it arrived it has completed a number of firsts and records, according to NASA, which includes the longest drive in a Martian day.

To celebrate its achievements, the US space agency shared a video of the rover's highlights during 2021, and of what is to come in 2022.

Among those celebrations is the surprising success of the Ingenuity helicopter, a small rotorcraft that travelled with Perseverance to Mars to give it an aerial view.

Jessica Samuels, Perseverance surface operations mission manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, described it as a 'busy 10 months.'

'It has been a year of perseverance. From operating during Covid, to challenges with sampling, to interpreting scientific results, it is a fitting name for the vehicle, and for the team as well.' she said in a video shared by NASA.  

Perseverance launched for the Red Planet in the summer of 2020, arriving months later in February 2021, and within weeks began observing the little helicopter.

It landed within the Jezero Crater, which is believed to have once been filled with a 1,600ft deep lake, according to NASA.

It is believed that the region hosted microbial life some 3.5 to 3.9 billion years ago and the rover will examine soil samples to hunt for evidence of the life.

One of the major achievements for the rover, nicknamed Perky, is speed - it has travelled 1.8 miles since it started, including going 385ft on July 1, 2021. 

Perseverance has also been collecting samples of Martian rock, soil and atmosphere, that it stores in titanium tubes for a future mission to collect and bring to Earth. 

To date it has collected six samples from Mars of a potential 43, with a selection set to be collected by a joint European and America mission sometime this decade. 

NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter is now helping Perseverance on its search for signs of ancient life, but started its Martian journey as a technology demonstration.

Engineers wanted to see whether it would be viable to have an aerial component on a planetary mission, so sent the 4lb rotocraft to Mars, strapped to the belly of the Perseverance rover.

Flight Seventeen: December 5, 2021 by flying back toward the Wright Brothers Field at the Octavia E. Butler landing site. It flew 614ft (187m) for a total of 117 seconds at an estimated 6mph. 

Flight Eighteen: On December 15, Ingenuity flew for 124.3 seconds, covering 754ft and cruising along at 15.6 miles per hour.

After completing a number of increasingly complicated test flights, and meeting all of its pre-defined targets, NASA began using it to look for sites for Perky to visit. 

So far Ingenuity has completed 18 flights, with more scheduled for the next year. 

Samuels says the next phase of Perseverance's mission will be to explore the delta that formed in Jezero Crater billions of years ago.

It is thought that this delta formed from sediment that an ancient river carried into the lake that once existed in the crater.

'It feels great to be a part of making history and enabling the start of a Mars Sample Return campaign,' said Samuels.

'What motivates us as engineers and scientists exploring another planet is the opportunity to learn more.' 

A key objective for Perseverance's mission on Mars is astrobiology, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life. 

The rover will characterise the planet's geology and past climate, pave the way for human exploration of the Red Planet, and be the first mission to collect and cache Martian rock and regolith.

'One of my favourite moments was seeing our first rock core sample,' explained Samuels, particularly 'looking down in to the tube and seeing it was a success.

'We can't wait for the future mission to pick them up and take them to Earth and see if any of them show signs of ancient life.'

Samuels said another of her highlights of the year was working with the helicopter team and watching the first powered flight on another planet.

Ingenuity arrived on Mars attached to the belly of Perseverance, which touched down on Mars on February 18 after a nearly seven-month journey through space. 

Ingenuity then performed its historic first flight on April 19, 2021, making history as the first powered controlled flight on any planet other than Earth.

In a nod to this feat, the helicopter carries a small amount of fabric that covered one of the wings of the Wright brothers' aircraft, known as the Flyer, during the first powered, controlled flight on Earth in 1903. 

'Few thought we would make it to flight one, fewer still to five. And no one thought we would make it this far,' said Ingenuity team lead Teddy Tzanetos of JPL. 

'On the way to accumulating over a half-hour aloft Ingenuity has survived eight months of bitter cold, and operated out of nine unique Martian airfields. 

'The aircraft's continued operations speaks to the robustness the design and the diligence and passion of our small operations team.'

For the rovers core mission, to take samples of Martian soil, it failed in its first attempt on August 6, as the rock was softer than expected.

The latest sample, its sixth, comes from a rugged dune patch called 'Séítah,' the Navajo word meaning 'amongst the sand'.

The region includes a range of many-layered rocks, which the JPL team believe might be a sign of once flowing water.

'Layered rocks like this often form in water, and can hold clues about what their environment used to be like,' the space agency wrote on Twitter.

Perseverance is tasked with seeking traces of fossilised microbial life from Mars' ancient past and to collect rock specimens for return to Earth through future missions to the Red Planet. 

The rover's turret-mounted scientific instruments are able to determine chemical and mineral composition and look for organic matter, as well as better characterise the planet's geological processes.

The $2.5 billion (£1.95 billion) Mars 2020 spaceship launched on July 30 with the rover and helicopter inside - and landed successfully on February 18, 2021.

Perseverance landed inside the crater and will slowly collect samples that will eventually be returned to Earth for further analysis.

A second mission will fly to the planet and return the samples, perhaps by the later 2020s in partnership with the European Space Agency.

Het afgelopen jaar kwamen er aanzienlijk minder meldingen binnen in vergelijking met 2020. We noteerden 184 UFO-meldingen in 2021, wat een daling van 59% betekent in vergelijking met vorig jaar (451 meldingen). Hiermee zitten we terug op een “normaal” aantal observaties. Door de combinatie lockdown, mooi weer en Starlink satellieten was 2020 dan ook een uitzonderlijk jaar. De provincie Antwerpen is in 2021 koploper met 46 waarnemingen. De meeste “UFO’s” werden gezien in de maand september. Het Franstalige COBEPS (Comité Belge pour l’Etude des Phénomènes Spatiaux) ontving het afgelopen jaar 77 UFO-meldingen.

Earth Looks Like A Living Creature In This Amazing NASA Video

See the Earth in an entirely new way.

This visualization was presented at SIGGRAPH 2014 during the Dailies session.

Hi, I'm Greg Shirah from NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio. This animation is driven by data from a complex 3d simulation of Earth's atmosphere called GEOS-5. The atmosphere was simulated for a 2 year period. The results from the simulation were saved out at 30 minute time steps. This produced about 6 PetaBytes of simulation data. The time span chosen for this test visualization includes a category 4 typhoon in the Western Pacific (near the center of the screen).

Data volumes from the simulation were about 1.2 billion voxels per time step. These volumes were converted into 354 separate brickmaps, one for each FRAME of this animation. Each brickmap was about 2.6 GigaBytes. So, about 1 TeraByte of brickmaps were needed to render this short visualization in Renderman. Future work will include more simulation parameters, optimizations, photorealism, and tighter camera angles. Visualizations like this can be crucial to help scientists present their complex but important work on Climate Research.

NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio (SVS) has released a stunning video that shows Earth in a way you may have never seen before.

The video is a timelapse simulation that depicts seven days in 2005 when a category-4 typhoon developed off the coast of China. The seven-day period is repeated several times during the course of the visualization.

Scientists used data from NASA’s Goddard Earth Observing System Model, Version 5 (GEOS-5), to depict the simulation’s volume-rendered clouds. This particular run of the simulation, called 7km GEOS-5 Nature Run (7km-G5NR), was executed on a supercomputer. This short visualization produced petabytes of output and referenced nearly a terabyte of brickmap files.

According to the SVS website, the goal of videos like the above is to provide the public with a clearer picture of our planet and our own place within it, as well as give people an idea of what NASA is all about: “The SVS works closely with scientists in the creation of visualizations, animations, and images in order to promote a greater understanding of Earth and space science research activities at Goddard Space Flight Center and within the NASA research community.”

Based on this video, I’d say that they seem to have gotten things right.

Weird cloud formation sparks UFO speculation

The phenomenon first gained attention on Monday when TV station WBTV posted a photograph of it on Facebook. The image had been taken by Phil Lambert on Old Mountain Road, Iredell County.

The peculiar nature of the image prompted a number of replies from users who noted that it looked as though a disc-shaped object had descended from the sky and punched a hole through the clouds.

Wisps of cloud wafting down from the center of the circle seemed to corroborate this explanation.

It turned out that others had seen it too, including Kathy Lynn Carlin of Collettsville who along with her husband observed the phenomenon at around 10am on Saturday around 65 miles from Charlotte.

But could this really be evidence of a UFO or is something else going on ?

According to weather experts, the spectacle is most likely what is known as 'hole punch cloud' - an atmospheric phenomenon that happens when 'super-cooled' water droplets turn into ice crystals after coming into contact with a plane passing overhead.

These crystals then fall from the sky and create a hole in the cloud that continues to expand.

The effect is something that has often been mistaken for a UFO.

A new video showing an unidentified flying object has appeared on the web. The U̳F̳O̳ was recorded on Lake Erie, in the US state of Ohio and in the video it is seen flying through the clouds and for a long moment it remains motionless on the surface of the lake. The author of the video confesses that he sees ships several times a year and they are getting closer and closer.

Other neighbors living near the lake also frequently report U̳F̳O̳s appearing. This suggests that Erie is a source of e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ activity and that the objects remain intentionally motionless for some time so that they can be filmed without problems.

Dr. Richard Sauder, philosopher and author of books on mysteries, says that “there is an underground base under Lake Erie, which is part of the great lakes that are on the border between the United States and Canada”.

Sauder believes there may be an e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ base beneath the water mantle of Lake Erie and is run by a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ aquatic inhabitants. Furthermore, he is closely related to the U̳F̳O̳ phenomenon, when unknown flying objects were sighted in this place. “These U̳F̳O̳s are likely manned by an e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ species that lives under the sea floor and also has the technological advances that allow them to get out of this environment.”

“This lake is an appropriate place for underground constructions, they are easy to drill due to the existence of large deposits, and in this way flying objects can enter and exit without problems.”

A witness also reported the sighting of a large U̳F̳O̳ suspended over Lake Erie. “” A strange cone-shaped metal object with two bright lights that came out of the lake and then disappeared. ”

Iván T. Sanderson, a researcher and cryptozoologist, said that “unidentified underwater (or USO) objects are handled by these underwater inhabitants, which makes this lake a critical point for this activity.” Other witnesses have indicated this place as a mysterious area, where events that are considered very strange occur.

Ontario — on December 18, 2021, between 6:14 to 6:15 I noticed a very unusual chem trail illuminated in the sky. I took seven photos because of its unusual shape and glow captured objects other than the chemical trail. The three objects in question were only noticed upon review of the photos flying fast.

Colorado Object

Aspen – on December 1, 2021, this is a stock photo from Pixlr. When I brought this photo into Illustrator to place it on a template. I enlarged the photo in Photoshop but can’t tell exactly what it is.

Florida Lights

Saint Petersburg – on December 25, 2021, the sighting was on bridge over the Boca Ceiga Bay. I stopped my bicycle on the bridge to take a picture of the moon when I saw falling blue streaks on camera screen that I captured.

Illinois Object

Rockford — on June 16, 2021, I was sitting in backyard looking at clouds and. I noticed a silvery metallic cylinder with rounded ends. I grabbed my phone and took three pictures. I estimate its length to be 10-20 feet long and 6-8 feet in diameter it was moving west 20-30 miles per hour and disappeared.

Long Island – on December7, 2021, I was getting out of the car with my dad and we both noticed a large spiral cloud going straight up next to the tiniest ball of light moving up next to the long cloud.

Brewer – on December 15, 2021, at 1:28 pm at work, I looked out of the window and saw two silent oddly-shaped objects hovering. I captured some video of them, but the top of the window was in the way as it flew up.

New Jersey Light and Triangle

Trenton – on September 19, 2021, I went outside to report to my security post and looking up saw a UFO. I didn’t think it was a plane since I didn’t see any wings or anything that planes have.

Sparta – on December 14, 2021, I witnessed two flying triangle shaped objects with a commercial plane behind them at about 30 to 35,000 feet. These objects were at 10,000 feet with a very bright light underneath the center. One disappeared followed by the second one 5 seconds later.

Brewer – on December 15, 2021, while at lunch at 1:28 pm at work, I Looked out of the window and saw two silent oddly-shaped objects hovering. I captured some video of them, but the top of the window was in the way. I went outside and one of the objects was gone. The other just went straight up and disappeared after ten minutes.

If a professor of military history at a military college who specializes in terrorism warned you of possible attacks on major cities around the world … would you believe him? What if his warning was about cities being destroyed by asteroids weaponized by extraterrestrials? What if he said this scenario would be much worse than anything dreamed up so fat by science fiction novelists or movie makers? Would we have a chance of survival? Are you skeptical … or worried?

“You have to assume any civilization is acting in what it perceives to be its own best interest — they are not showing up because they want to be benevolent.”

Meet Paul J. Springer, a Professor of Comparative Military History at the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama who teaches courses on strategy, terrorism, and military history, and is currently researching cyber warfare and military robotics. In an exclusive interview with The Sun Online, he lays out realistic scenarios on how aliens may already be scouting Earth to determine the best ways to invade, attack, conquer and rule – and it sounds eerily like our own human history of warfare.

“If I wanted to take down a civilization, I would want to shut them down and make sure you know I shut them down. So you would know, you were essentially at my mercy. They would be hoping that humans will recognize when they are beaten and accept the status quo.”

Does that sound familiar? Springer likens an ET invasion to the European conquest of the continents that became the Americas. While they may have been looking for a place to escape from oppression and live in peace at first, taking advantage of the indigenous people and their bountiful resources soon took over. Springer says space travelers may indeed be nomads or refugees, but they’ll probably need something that Earth provides … and it will probably be something we humans will not give up willingly or even trade for a fair exchange.

“Wait a minute!”, you may be thinking. “We have an advantage … we saw ‘Independence Day’! Plus we have nukes and rockets and lasers and stuff! Plus they would have to bring enough weapons and soldiers to conquer us while we already have stockpiles and we’re guarding our own home turf.”

Good points, says Springer. However, any civilization intelligent enough to travel that far and that long may be ready to take its time and figure out how to use our own resources against us. That’s where he sees aliens looking at the asteroid belt like the biblical David eying a huge pile of rocks to sling at a giant enemy with limited resources in comparison. A nonstop barrage of asteroids could be as demoralizing as carpet bombing was in past human wars.

Do we have any hope against such an enemy invasion?

Again, history may provide some solutions, according to Springer.

“Survival, because without forces-in-being you can’t offer a coherent response. Capture, because you need to determine their capabilities and potential vulnerabilities. Plus, there’s always the possibility that they would value their own personnel to such an extent that you might be able to open communications.”

Rather than fighting back until our resources are gone, Springer seems to propose a strategy of hide-and-wait until the enemy’s resources are low … a strategy that worked well when Muhammad Ali called it “Rope-a-dope.” Once the depleted enemy lands, humans come out of their hiding places and capture them, reverse-engineer their ships and weapons, and either fight back or use the prisoners and weapons as bargaining chips.

Would such a strategy work? Muhammad Ali would say it’s worked before – it will work again. Would aliens really attack us with our own solar system’s asteroids? Military strategists are probably saying that sounds like a good technique for our own Space Force and its next generations.

Perhaps it’s time we learned that the best movies don’t always provide the best strategies.

It is known that the asteroid that impacted Earth 66 million years ago killed off the dinosaurs as well as numerous other species – non-avian dinosaurs and at least 75% of all life on Earth went extinct. But many of those creatures were wiped out during several months of darkness that covered parts of the planet after the impact. The ash and particles from the many wildfires covered the sky which blocked out the sun. In addition to the countless fires, the impact also caused acid rain and cooler temperatures.

Following the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs, parts of the planet would have been plunged into darkness.

This constant darkness in certain regions led to countless other species going extinct. In fact, some of these areas were in total darkness for as long as two years. Photosynthesis would have been non-existent and even when the sun eventually returned, the damage had already been done. It was theorized in the 1980s that a “nuclear winter scenario” would have occurred after the impact (this included darkness) that caused some of the mass extinctions, but it’s only been in recent years that experts were able to calculate how the darkness really did affect life on our planet.

In their models, the scientists recreated the ecology during that time period and used 300 species that would have been alive – their fossils had previously been found in the Hell Creek Formation and date back to the late part of the Cretaceous Period when the asteroid hit Earth. “We focused on that region because the fossil record is well-sampled and well-understood ecologically, so we could reconstruct the paleocommunity reliably,” explained Peter Roopnarine who is a curator of geology in the Department of Invertebrate Zoology and Geology at California Academy of Sciences.

Then they exposed the model to different lengths of darkness, from 100 to 700 days and they found that it would have set in very quickly and been at its maximum level within only a few weeks. Additionally, they realized that if the darkness would have persisted for 150 days or less, the ecosystems would have been able to recover. But if it lasted more than 200 days, there would have been irreplaceable damage as “some species went extinct and patterns of dominance shifted” the scientists explained. If the darkness would have lasted between 650 and 700 days, 65% to 81% of species would have been wiped out. Based on those calculations, the areas around the Hell Creek Formation would have endured darkness for approximately two years.

But that is only one region as Roopnarine noted in an email to Live Science, “Conditions varied across the globe because of atmospheric flow and temperature variation…” But as for the Hell Creek regions, it would have taken about 40 years for that ecosystem to begin to bounce back. It’s hard to image how much catastrophe one large impact caused.

Ze slaagden erin het evenement vast te leggen en vertelden ons dat dit geen geïsoleerd evenement was. Volgens hen is er tegenwoordig veel UFO-activiteit op de Noordzee.

Four new dinosaurs including the 'horned crocodile-faced hell heron' are among 550 new animal and plant species discovered by Natural History Museum staff this year

Four new dinosaurs including the 'horned crocodile-faced hell heron' are among more than 550 new animal and plant species discovered by staff at the Natural History Museum (NHM) this year.  

The museum's annual round-up of newly discovered species range from some of the smallest invertebrates swimming in the oceans to ferocious predators that stalked the land millions of years ago. 

By far the biggest and most fearsome new species to have been described this year are a pair of giant carnivorous dinosaurs known as spinosaurs, discovered from remains on the Isle of Wight.

The predators were named the 'riverbank hunter' and 'horned crocodile-faced hell heron' after the swampy environment they would once have lived and hunted in. 

The more ferocious of the two, the 'horned crocodile-faced hell heron', was named due to a series of low horns and bumps across the brow region and its 'heron-like' hunting style. 

Both are thought to have roamed land that is now the the Isle of Wight around 129 million years ago.

The museum's total new species for discovered by staff this year – 552 – is despite international travel to field sites or other museum collections having remained largely off limits due to Covid-19 restrictions.    

'It's been a fantastic year for the description of new dinosaurs, especially from the UK,' said Dr Susannah Maidment, a senior researcher in paleobiology at the NHM, who helped describe some of these new finds.

'Although we've known about the UK's dinosaur heritage for over 150 years, the application of new techniques and new data from around the world is helping us to uncover a hidden diversity of British dinosaurs. 

'These specimens are parts of a vast palaeobiological jigsaw puzzle that allows us to understand environments of the past and how they changed over time.' 

Riverbank hunter and hell heron were huge carnivorous dinosaurs that most likely walked upright. Their massive, crocodile-like jaws show that they mostly ate fish and possibly other dinosaurs too.  

The two spinosaurs – already detailed in a paper in Scientific Reports earlier this year – were just two of six new dinosaurs to have been described by NHM staff in 2021.

In total, four of these were from the UK, one was uncovered in China and the other from the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco.  

Rhomaleopakhus turpanensis, from China, was a 'chunky' sauropod with an unusually large funny bone.

Meanwhile, Spicomellus afer from Morocco was an ankylosaur and had an odd series of spikes attached to the rib. 

Ankylosaurs were a diverse group of armoured dinosaurs related to the stegosaurs, which were present throughout the Cretaceous period from 145 to 66 million years ago.

NHM made a number of other fossil finds this year, including algae, arachnids trapped in amber and fossil bryozoans – microscopic aquatic invertebrates that live in colonies, also known as moss animals.

The museum also found two ancient mammals – Megalomys camerhogne, which belonged to a group of rodents which once lived scattered across the Caribbean, and Borealestes cullinensis, a 'Jurassic mouse' from the Isle of Skye, Scotland that would have scurried around the feet of dinosaurs 166 million years ago.  

Many of the new species described this year have been crustaceans, in particular 291 species of copepods – small, shrimp-like creatures that are found near water. 

Despite their small and unassuming appearance, they are critical to our planet's ecology and carbon cycle, according to the NHM, and form the major component of zooplankton.  

'Copepods are not only free-living but many are parasites, and they can be found living in virtually every other major animal group,' said Professor Geoff Boxshall, researcher in the department of life sciences at the NHM. 

'I have been focusing my research on these parasitic copepods from fishes and marine invertebrate hosts.'

Museum scientists have also described 52 species of wasps, 13 moths, seven crabs, six flies, five amphipods and 90 beetles. 

The moths includes Wallace's sphinx moth, which has the longest tongue of any insect, according to the NHM, used for reaching the bottom of the nectar tubes.

The moth is notable for having been predicted to exist by Charles Darwin, the father of the theory of evolution, some 40 years before it was recorded in the wild. 

The beetles included a pair of glitteringly purple and green metallic beetles from India, a chunky monochromatic beetle with a large pair of jaws from the Philippines and Caccothryptus larryi, a minute marsh loving beetle named in honour of Larry the cat at 10 Downing Street.

Caccothryptus larryi - a minute marsh-loving beetle from India named after Larry the cat, Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office 

There were also 10 new species of reptiles and amphibians, including five snakes. One of these new snake species, called Joseph's racer, was described with the help of a 185-year-old painting. 

There's also Rhabdophis bindi, a new species of snake from India and Bangladesh that lives in tropical evergreen forest. 

Rhabdophis bindi has a red spot on the nape of the neck, 'reminiscent of the red beauty spot adorning the foreheads of Indian women', according to a paper describing the species.  

Three new species of lizards have also been described, including a fan-throated lizard and a gecko from India, as well as one new species of frog from Vietnam. 

There has also been a new species of caecilian, a type of snake-like amphibian which lives primarily underground and in the water.

NHM also found five new species of plants from eastern Africa. Known as jewelweeds or touch-me-nots, they usually produce delicate pink or white flowers, except for a few species which have switched to producing red flowers. 

Rather than being pollinated by butterflies, these red flowers are visited by birds, which find it easier to pick the colour red out from amongst green foliage.    

NHM staff were also involved in classification of a piece of space rock that fell to Earth in a blazing fireball in February this year. 

The space rock burnt through the atmosphere before coming to a sudden stop on a driveway in the Gloucestershire town of Winchcombe.

Hundreds of people spotted the fireball streaking across the night sky, and within a matter of hours researchers were able to get out and recover over 600 grams of the meteorite that had travelled billions of kilometres. 

Now officially classified as the Winchcombe meteorite, it is one of only 603 approved meteorites classified as carbonaceous chondrites. 

Each official meteorite becomes its own type specimen, which is roughly analogous to being a new species. 

'The Winchcombe meteorite is the first meteorite fall to be recovered in the UK for 30 years,' said Dr Helena Bates, a researcher at the museum who was involved with recovering the Winchcombe meteorite. 

'Winchcombe is thought to come from an asteroid that has remained largely unchanged since the birth of the solar system 4.6 billion years ago.'

Xanthopan praedicta. This species of moth was predicted to exist by Darwin and Wallace, and was finally recognised as its own species this year

It was a very busy and productive year for the Natural History Museum as their experts described 552 new species that included dinosaurs, crustaceans, plants, and even a meteorite.

The majority of the new species described by the museum were a group of crustaceans called copepods. Wherever there is water, you’ll find the small shrimp-like creatures. “Copepods are not only free-living but many are parasites and they can be found living in virtually every other major animal group,” stated Professor Geoff Boxshall. A total of 291 copepods species were described in 2021.

A total of 52 wasps, 13 moths, 7 crabs, 6 flies, and 5 amphipods were described as well. Additionally, 91 new beetle species were described that included a couple of green and purple glittering metallic beetles that were from India.

There were 10 new species of amphibians and reptiles that included five snakes. The other five included a fan-throated lizard and a gecko found in India; a frog from Vietnam; another frog that is categorized as likely extinct; and a snake-like amphibian called a caecilian. Eight algae species, six parasitic worms, and three diatoms were described as well.

Five new plants species from the eastern part of Africa were described which included jewelweeds that have white or pink flowers (very few have red flowers).

Six new dinosaur species – four which were found in the United Kingdom – have been described by the museum. Two of them were large carnivorous spinosaurs that were found on the Isle of Wight. The other two that were discovered in the UK were a dinosaur with a huge nose called a Brighstoneus simmondsi (also found on the Isle of Wight); and the Pendraig milnerae which was the earliest ever carnivorous dinosaur found in the United Kingdom. The two species that were not found in the UK were the Spicomellus afer which was the first ever ankylosaur discovered in Africa; and a sauropod from China named Rhomaleopakhus turpanensis.

Other discoveries included fossil bryozoans (also called moss animals), algae, arachnids, and brachiopods that were trapped inside of amber. An ancient relative of crocodiles was described as well. There were two prehistoric mammals – Megalomys camerhogne from the Caribbean, and the Borealestes cullinensis which was a “Jurassic mouse” that lived about 166 million years ago in Scotland.

A very interesting discovery was made in February of 2021 when a fireball flew through the sky before landing in a driveway in the town of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England. More than 600 grams of the meteorite were located in the driveway. It was revealed that the space rock had come from billions of kilometers away and was heated to more than 1,600 degrees Celsius (2,912 degrees Fahrenheit) when it streaked across the sky. This meteorite, which has been classified as being a carbonaceous chondrite, was the first to have been found in the United Kingdom in the last 30 years and is believed to date back 4.6 billion years when our Solar System first formed.

Another new species from the deep is the giant amphipod Eurythenes atacamensis, found to be living in the depths of the Atacama Trench.

Because of its connection to so many of the world’s religions, there are many stories in the Hebrew bible that are familiar to most people – even atheists. The Book of Exodus story of the burning bush – the original ‘call waiting’ sign of a bush in flames yet not being consumed that let Moses know he was about to receive an important message, is a good example. While few of these incidents have been proven by historians – even biblical one – the ‘burning bush’ may have roots based in a natural phenomenon, according to The New York Times. However, as in so many of these cases, the truth about one aspect may refute another. Finally, this new revelation once again links modern religions to practices and belief of previous non-Christian religions – a repurposing to help convince others to join voluntarily … before being dragged in by force. All of that is part of this new story of the burning bush.

“At midday, with the sun low in the sky on one of the shortest days of the year, he peered across a deep ravine and spotted a strange aura of light, flickering like flames, emanating from a spot on a sheer rock face.”

That’s not a modern translation of Hebrew text on a Dead Sea scroll but a 2003 event that begins the quest to explain the burning bush. According to The New York Times, a tour guide walking on Mount Karkom (Har Karkom or ‘Mountain of Saffron’) at the time of the winter solstice saw a glare of light reflected from the sides of a cave that the Israeli television quickly deemed the “burning bush” even though there was no bush and it occurred on the wrong mount – the mountain of the biblical version was Mount Sinai, whose real location remains disputed but is most often thought to be Mount Horeb. Did a guide just rewrite biblical history?

“At the base of Mount Karkom, named in Hebrew for a desert crocus, there is evidence that ancient migration trails converged here and that cultic rituals took place in the area. Mr. Anati identified what he thought was a sacrificial altar with the remains of 12 pillars of stone that could conceivably correspond to the one described in Exodus 24 that Moses built, representing the 12 tribes of Israel.”

Actually, he added credence to a theory proposed nearly 50 years earlier by Italian archeologist Emmanuel Anati, who found thousands of rock carvings and rock circles on a plateau of Mount Karkom, about 2,500 feet above sea level – including scenes some claimed matched stories in the Hebrew bible. Anati eventually propose that Mount Karkom “should be identified with the sacred mountain of the biblical narrations.” However, other scholars dispute that claim – pointing out that the carvings were made in the third millennium BCE while biblical scholars put the dating of the unproven historical exodus between 1600-1200 BCE.

Was is just a calendar error?

“Without binoculars or biblical vision, it was possible to make out a strange, if faint, glow, though some visitors expressed disappointment that the aura around the cave mouth was not more fiery.”

However, that didn’t stop a crowd from gathering on the 2021 winter solstice for a new tradition – the observation of the burning bush/cave on Mount Karkom. The New York Times reports that this year’s event included the man who started it all – Professor Anati, now in his 90s. (Photos here.)

He again witnessed the ‘glow’ but admitted he can’t prove this is what inspired the biblical story or that Mount Karkom is the true biblical Mount Sinai. He’d rather “bring all the opinions and evidence and let the reader decide for themselves.” That’s a noble cause, but he also refers to the area as “story of the history of humankind” – conveniently ignoring the histories going on at the same time (and long before) in the Far East, Africa, Australia and the Americas.

Gathering all of those cultural and religious histories together and THEN letting the reader decide for themselves would be an event worthy of a burning bush.

Biden-Harris Administration Extends Space Station Operations Through 2030

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson announced today the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to extend International Space Station (ISS) operations through 2030, and to work with our international partners in Europe (ESA, European Space Agency), Japan (JAXA, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), Canada (CSA, Canadian Space Agency), and Russia (State Space Corporation Roscosmos) to enable continuation of the groundbreaking research being conducted in this unique orbiting laboratory through the rest of this decade.

“The International Space Station is a beacon of peaceful international scientific collaboration and for more than 20 years has returned enormous scientific, educational, and technological developments to benefit humanity. I’m pleased that the Biden-Harris Administration has committed to continuing station operations through 2030,” Nelson said. “The United States’ continued participation on the ISS will enhance innovation and competitiveness, as well as advance the research and technology necessary to send the first woman and first person of color to the Moon under NASA’s Artemis program and pave the way for sending the first humans to Mars. As more and more nations are active in space, it’s more important than ever that the United States continues to lead the world in growing international alliances and modeling rules and norms for the peaceful and responsible use of space.”

Over the past two decades, the United States has maintained a continuous human presence in orbit around the Earth to test technologies, conduct scientific research, and develop skills needed to explore farther than ever before. The unique microgravity laboratory has hosted more than 3,000 research investigations from over 4,200 researchers across the world and is returning enormous scientific, educational, and technological developments to benefit people on Earth. Nearly 110 countries and areas have participated in activities aboard the station, including more than 1,500,000 students per year in STEM activities.

Instruments aboard the ISS, used in concert with free-flying instruments in other orbits, help us measure the stresses of drought and the health of forests to enable improved understanding of the interaction of carbon and climate at different time scales. Operating these and other climate-related instruments through the end of the decade will greatly increase our understanding of the climate cycle xtending operations through 2030 will continue another productive decade of research advancement and enable a seamless transition of capabilities in low-Earth orbit to one or more commercially owned and operated destinations in the late 2020s. The decision to extend operations and NASA’s recent awards to develop commercial space stations together ensure uninterrupted, continuous human presence and capabilities; both are critical facets of NASA’s International Space Station transition plan.
