Scientists say breakthrough light experiment proves Jesus' resurrection: 'We don't have that power on Earth'

Scientists say breakthrough light experiment proves Jesus' resurrection: 'We don't have that power on Earth'

By STACY LIBERATORE, US SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY EDITOR

The resurrection of Jesus has long been called the central 'mystery of faith,' but scientists have claimed to have found evidence that may prove the biblical event.

Paolo Di Lazzaro, an Italian physicist and chief researcher at the ENEA Research Centre in Frascati in Italy, spent five years attempting to reproduce the body image seen on the Shroud of Turin.

The relic is believed to be the burial cloth that wrapped Jesus after he died on the cross and is said to bear his image left after the resurrection. Di Lazzaro and his team attempted to recreate the image using powerful ultraviolet lasers.

Researchers fired intense bursts of ultraviolet light at clean linen fabric similar to the shroud, altering the chemical structure of the outer fibers and turning them faintly yellow.

Despite successfully creating small areas of shroud-like discoloration, the team found that recreating the full body image was beyond modern technology.

Their calculations showed that producing a life-sized image would require an enormous burst of ultraviolet energy delivered in an extremely short time, far more than current laser systems can generate.

The findings were recently discussed on the Shaw Ryan Show, where biblical scholar Jeremiah Johnston said Di Lazzaro estimated the process would require extraordinary energy.

He said: 'Paolo told me it would take 34,000 billion watts of energy traveling in one 40th of a billionth of a second to change the chemical makeup of a fine linen shroud to leave that image. 'And he said, "We don't have that power on Earth.'"

The Shroud of Turin is a 14-foot-long piece of linen featuring a faint image of the front and back of a man who Christians believe to be Jesus.

The cloth was first presented to the public in the 1350s, when it was exhibited in a small collegiate church in Lirey, a village in northern France. Some believe it to be a medieval fake.

Di Lazzaro published the study in 2010, saying that his laboratory had more than three decades of experience studying how ultraviolet radiation interacts with different materials, including metals, plastics and fabrics.

Their work has shown that ultraviolet light affects only the outermost surface of materials, rather than penetrating deep inside.

When ultraviolet energy strikes linen, it is absorbed by the very top molecular layers of the fibers.

This changes the chemical structure only at the surface, without burning or heating the fabric.

Scientists believe this surface-level reaction is important because the image on the Shroud of Turin is known to be extremely shallow, affecting only the outer fibers.

Beginning in 2005, the team carried out repeated tests using linen cloth woven between 1930 and 1950 that had never been washed or chemically treated, ensuring the material behaved in a predictable way.

Despite successfully creating small areas of shroud-like discoloration, the team found that recreating the full body image was beyond modern technology

The process involved firing controlled bursts of ultraviolet laser light at the linen, altering the chemical bonds in the cellulose fibers and changing their appearance.

After years of testing, researchers identified a precise combination of laser settings, including pulse duration, energy strength and number of bursts, that produced faint yellow coloring similar to features observed on the Shroud.

The results showed several similarities to the historic cloth, including coloration limited to the tops of threads, adjacent fibers that remained uncolored, reduced fluorescence and a faint negative-style appearance, all characteristics previously documented on the Shroud of Turin.

Scientists cautioned that while the experiments successfully produced linen discoloration similar to some microscopic features of the shroud, the results do not provide definitive proof of how the original image was formed.

Johnston, however, said the image was created through a nuclear event.

'I'm saying that in short form because according to the physicists, the amount of energy it would take because there's no pigment, because there's no dye, because there's no paint,' he explained.

'Science has proven and published that we, science has to ask how this image is there?

'And there was a chemical change to the shroud that if it had lasted longer than one 40th of a billionth of a second, it would've just, it would've scorched.

'It would've just burned up. It would've been gone. And so what for the physicist watching this is called power.'

Does A New Approach Prove the Resurrection of Jesus?

Does A New Approach Prove the Resurrection of Jesus?

The Resurrection of Christ by Workshop of Pieter Coecke van Aelst

Gary Manners

A new report has intensified the long-running debate surrounding the resurrection of Jesus Christ, claiming that historical analysis strongly supports the biblical accounts of an empty tomb and post-crucifixion appearances. Highlighted by the Daily Mail and other news outlets, the claim has reignited discussions among theologians, historians, and skeptics alike. While a physical resurrection remains a matter of profound faith for billions, researchers continue to apply historical, legal, and philosophical methodologies to examine the events that transpired in Jerusalem nearly two thousand years ago.

The controversy centers on a recent comprehensive inquiry by Pearl Bipin an engineer and mathematician with the National Institute of Technology in Goa, India. His study applies the "Minimal Facts" approach - a methodology using only data points accepted by the vast majority of scholars across the ideological spectrum. According to this framework, certain historical realities are considered virtually undeniable: Jesus of Nazareth was crucified and died under the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, his followers genuinely believed he appeared to them after his death, and the early Christian movement expanded rapidly despite severe persecution. The inquiry argues that traditional naturalistic explanations - mass hallucinations, conspiracy theories, or the notion that Jesus survived the cross - fail to adequately account for these historical realities.

The Mystery of the Empty Tomb

At the heart of the resurrection narrative lies the mystery of the empty tomb. Historical accounts, including the canonical Gospels, assert that the tomb belonging to Joseph of Arimathea was found empty just days after the crucifixion. Scholars point out that if the tomb had not been empty, the Jewish and Roman authorities could have easily quashed the nascent Christian movement by producing the body. Furthermore, all four Gospels cite women as the first witnesses, a detail that, given the low status of female testimony in first-century Judean society, suggests the writers were recording events as they occurred rather than crafting a convenient narrative. As Kyle Tucker wrote in The Gospel Coalition:

"The mainstream view among historians today is that it's more probable than not that Jesus's tomb was empty and that people genuinely believed they saw the resurrected Jesus."

Eyewitness Testimony and the Disciples' Transformation

Beyond the empty tomb, post-resurrection appearances form the bedrock of the historical argument. The Apostle Paul, writing in 1 Corinthians 15 within two decades of the crucifixion, lists numerous individuals and groups who purportedly saw the risen Christ, including an appearance to more than 500 people at once. As Prof. Jonathan Morrow told CBN News, "You've got living history. You've got the people who were there to cross-check whatever message is being put out there."

The radical transformation of Jesus' followers is another compelling piece of the puzzle. The disciples, famously scattered and fearful during the crucifixion, became bold proclaimers of the resurrection willing to endure execution for their beliefs. This shift is particularly notable in James, the brother of Jesus (initially skeptical of his sibling's ministry) and in Saul of Tarsus, who transitioned from a fierce persecutor of early Christians to its most ardent missionary. As apologists often argue, while people may die for a lie they believe to be true, it is highly improbable that so many would willingly die for a lie they knew they had invented.

A Matter of Faith or Historical Fact?

Despite these arguments, the debate is far from settled. Critics and secular historians maintain that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and that the historical method cannot authenticate supernatural events. Prominent New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman has argued that the canonical accounts were written decades after the events by individuals who were not eyewitnesses and who held deep theological commitments. He contends that of the 115 billion human beings who have ever lived, if the resurrection happened, it was the only such occurrence, making it statistically far less probable than explanations rooted in legend, misidentification, or the sincere but mistaken beliefs of grieving followers.

A recent peer-reviewed article by John E. Thiel in the Scottish Journal of Theology acknowledged this tension, arguing that the resurrection should be understood as a historical event, but one whose full meaning is only accessible through a theological framework. Ultimately, the question of Jesus' resurrection remains a complex intersection of history, theology, and philosophy — and the evidence, as it stands, continues to be interpreted very differently depending on the worldview of the interpreter.

Is de ziel onsterfelijk? Misschien heeft de wetenschap het antwoord

Is de ziel onsterfelijk? Misschien heeft de wetenschap het antwoord

Een aloude vraag: Is de ziel onsterfelijk?

©The Daily Digest

©The Daily Digest

©The Daily Digest

©The Daily Digest

©The Daily Digest

©The Daily Digest

Conclusies

©The Daily Digest

Foto: Pixabay

©The Daily Digest

Foto: Pixabay

We are the reality

©The Daily Digest

Foto: Wikipedia

We are the reality

©The Daily Digest

Foto: Pixabay

©The Daily Digest

Foto: Pixabay

©The Daily Digest

Foto: Pixabay

Informatie blijft behouden

©The Daily Digest

Foto: Pixabay

Informatie blijft behouden

Een intrigerende maar onbewezen theorie

©The Daily Digest

Jesus's final journey through Jerusalem before the crucifixion revealed

Jesus's final journey through Jerusalem before the crucifixion revealed

  • READ MORE: New Bible analysis uncovers thousands of clues suggesting scripture was written by God

By STACY LIBERATORE, US SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY EDITOR

The final journey Jesus took to the cross remains one of the most studied and sacred paths in history.

Now, a researcher has reconstructed what he believes were Christ's last movements through Jerusalem in the days leading up to his crucifixion.

The map, based on Bible scripture and archaeological evidence, traces key locations tied to the final week of Jesus' life, now known as Holy Week.

The journey begins at the Temple Mount, where Jesus is said to have taught daily and, according to the Book of Matthew 21:12–17, 'cleansed the temple' of merchants and money changers seven days before his death.

According to the Bible, this happened when Jesus entered Jerusalem for the last time before his crucifixion, signifying a symbolic cleansing of the 'house of God' right before his own sacrifice.

Jesus then partakes in the Last Supper in the Upper Room, located in the southern part of the Old City of Jerusalem on Mount Zion, followed by his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane and a trial appearance in front of the ancient Roman government north of Bethlehem.

His passage through Jerusalem ends with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, claimed to be the site of Jesus' crucifixion, and the Garden Tomb where his body was said to have been placed.

Scholars have proposed that the journey began late Thursday evening and finished with Jesus' death on Friday.

Jesus' journey begins at the the Temple Mount located in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Bible says he was there a week before his death

Jesus' journey begins at the the Temple Mount located in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Bible says he was there a week before his death

The map was created by theologian and author John Walsh, who highlighted the first spot as the Temple Mount located in the Old City of Jerusalem.

This site is considered one of the holiest sites in Judaism and Islam, and is central to the Christian Gospels.

It currently features a 35-acre platform built by King Herod, who was the Roman-appointed king of Judaea and ruled from 37 to 4BC.

The Temple Mount is now a walled compound with the Dome of the Rock to the north and the Al-Aqsa Mosque to the south.

The Dome of the Rock is believed to be the location where Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son, Ismail.

And for Muslims, the Prophet Muhammad was transported from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to Al-Aqsa during the Night Journey, and then on to heaven.

The map, however, places a temple there that Jesus taught at every day.

The Bible says Jesus entered the structure, seeing people betting, making loans and selling goods. He then flipped tables and drove them out of the temple.

Within that same week, it was believed the Last Supper was held in the Upper Room in the southern part of the Old City of Jerusalem on Mount Zion.

Jesus and his disciples traveled about one mile from the temple to the Upper Room, which would have taken between 20 and 30 minutes.

The Last Supper - Jesus' final meal with his apostles before being crucified - is believed to have taken place one to three days before the crucifixion.

The Upper Room, also known as the Cenacle, was originally a prayer room that could house more than 120 people.

The room is briefly described in the Book of Luke 22:11-13 when Jesus requested a large, furnished upper room where he and his disciples could eat their Passover meal.

The Cenacle stands in the Old City of Jerusalem on Mount Zion, which is located above the southern gate and was constructed with large, branching columns that supported a vaulted ceiling and a sloping red roof that is still there today.

The next stop was likely the Garden of Gethsemane, which researchers estimate is roughly half a mile from the location of the Upper Room.

Archaeologists uncovered the remains of a ritual bath , dating back to the time of Jesus, at Gethsemane in 2020. The garden is said to have been where Jesus was arrest before being sentenced to death

Archaeologists uncovered the remains of a ritual bath , dating back to the time of Jesus, at Gethsemane in 2020. The garden is said to have been where Jesus was arrest before being sentenced to death

The Garden of Gethsemane sits outside the city walls. Luke 22:39 states that Jesus and his disciples walked the path following the Last Supper.

Experts speculated that if the group was looking to avoid guards in the city, 'they would have skirted the southern wall which overlooks the valley of Hinnom, the garbage dump of the city where the fires were constantly burning the refuse from the populace of the urban area.'

Archaeologists uncovered the remains of a ritual bath, dating back to the time of Jesus, at Gethsemane in 2020.

They suggested the bath may have been used to cleanse workers before they operated an oil press in the garden, and by those climbing the hill to pray.

The Bible states that it was in the garden where Jesus was betrayed by Judas and arrested.

According to the map, Roman soldiers took Jesus to the House of Caiaphas, which experts have estimated would have been a 40-minute walk from the garden.

There is a debate within Christianity as to where Jesus was buried. Some believe it was the Garden Tomb, while others suggest it was the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (pictured)

There is a debate within Christianity as to where Jesus was buried. Some believe it was the Garden Tomb, while others suggest it was the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (pictured)

Depending on the exact route and pace, the path would have involved ascending from the Kidron Valley up to Mount Zion.

The House of Caiaphas is a biblical site in Jerusalem that is believed to be the location where Jesus was accused of blasphemy against God.

From there, Jesus was brought to Herod's Palace, which once stood against the western city wall.

The journey would likely take about a 30-minute walk due to the hilly terrain of Jerusalem.

Herod's Palace was also the site of the praetorium, where Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea, sentenced Jesus to death.

According to the Bible, Jesus was forced to carry a massive, wooden cross through the city to Golgotha, or Calvary, about 2,650 feet away.

Scholars have proposed that the journey began late Thursday evening and finished with Jesus' death on Friday

Scholars have proposed that the journey began late Thursday evening and finished with Jesus' death on Friday

The Bible does not specify how long Jesus carried the cross, but theologians have estimated it took him at least three hours to make the journey.

According to the Bible, Jesus was crucified at a location called Golgotha, or Calvary.

The site is now known as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which Christians believe stands on the site of Jesus' crucifixion. The church was built in 326AD.

Following the crucifixion, Jesus is said to have been laid to rest in a rock tomb about 300 feet away from Calvary.

While many believe the Church of the Holy Sepulchre sits upon his grave, others suggest he was laid to rest inside the Garden Tomb, which is outside the Old City walls, near the Damascus Gate.

Christian tradition says Jesus' body was laid on a slab cut from a limestone cave after his crucifixion by the Romans more than two thousand years ago.

The burial slab was enclosed in a structure known as the Edicule – a word derived from the Latin term aedicule, meaning 'little house.'

A strange phenomenon: Feeling the exact moment someone else is dying

A strange phenomenon: Feeling the exact moment someone else is dying

Over the years, we’ve written many articles about near-death experiences, reincarnation, the afterlife, and the supernatural. But there’s one phenomenon we’ve never truly explored, something just as unsettling and far less talked about.
life%20after%20dead.png

It involves people who are fully awake, fully conscious, yet suddenly experience something profound at the exact moment someone else is dying. A family member, a close friend, or even someone nearby, or thousands of miles away.
Like the hundreds of nurses, doctors, and everyday people who have reported witnessing something at the exact moment someone dies.
For example, a doctor who walks into a trauma room and sees a dead woman floating above a dying man. He isn't the patient's physician. He just felt the pull to go in.
Researchers have now collected over 800 of these cases. The patterns are nearly identical across cultures, ages, and belief systems, including committed atheists.
What are they experiencing? And why have so many of them stayed silent for decades?

Unusual Activity Across the US (March 21-24, 2026) - Glowing Objects, Buzzing Noises, UAP Sightings

Overview

A compilation of unverified eyewitness footage captured across six U.S. states between March 21‑24, 2026, has been posted online to highlight a series of anomalous visual and auditory events. The material—drawn from smartphone recordings, security cameras, and infrared devices—shows glowing objects on the ground, rapidly moving lights in the sky, and unexplained noises reported both outdoors and inside private residences. While the uploader stresses that the videos have not been independently authenticated, the collection reflects a noticeable uptick in public reports of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) during the same period, echoing a broader trend observed by civilian reporting networks over the past year.

Key Sightings by Location

  • Texas: A user identified as “Shy” recorded a luminous object resting in grass on March 21 that appeared to pulse in brightness. In a separate clip, an anonymous Texas witness captured a fast‑spinning, translucent formation containing smaller glowing points, suggesting a multi‑component structure.
  • Florida: Security footage submitted by Kaylee Butters shows a glowing orb descending into her yard, after which she remarks it seemed to “drop something off.” Later, an infrared camera captured multicolored, high‑speed objects skimming close to the ground.
  • Louisiana: User “evan_po6” posted video of three white lights arranged in a triangular pattern over Denham Springs on March 24, a configuration frequently described in other UAP reports.
  • Ohio: Robert Walker’s March 24 security feed records a bright white flash illuminating a line of trees, followed minutes later by an identical flash captured from a nearby parking lot camera.
  • Kansas & California: “Jen Girl” from California documented a ball of light falling from the sky on March 15, while a Kansas resident filmed an orb hovering near a structure, speculating it was “accessing the grid.”
  • Pennsylvania: An anonymous resident described a sudden, extremely loud noise with no visible source, leaving the witness visibly shaken.

Domestic Anomalies

The phenomenon was not confined to open spaces. A contributor known as “Therealfefe” posted video of objects moving autonomously inside his home, accompanied by unexplained thuds and a persistent buzzing. Additional footage from March 19 shows what the narrator describes as “particles” or “orbs” traversing a kitchen and living area, suggesting that similar visual anomalies can occur within interior environments. These reports, though limited in number, broaden the scope of inquiry beyond traditional sky‑watching.

Evidence and Community Response

The primary evidence consists of low‑resolution smartphone videos, CCTV recordings, and infrared imagery posted on platforms such as Reddit’s r/AnnArbor community. Viewers have offered alternative explanations—ranging from insects to lens artifacts—but many witnesses assert that the observed motions and luminosity patterns do not match known natural or man‑made sources. A commenter identified as “P Nut Gallery 2511” claimed comparable night‑vision captures, and the uploader notes analogous reports emerging from New Zealand, indicating a potential global dimension. Nonetheless, no official agency has confirmed the authenticity of the clips, and scientific analysis remains pending.

Context and Outlook

The surge of submissions aligns with a documented increase in civilian UAP reporting channels, which have logged thousands of sightings this year alone. While the current compilation lacks verification, its breadth underscores a growing public willingness to document and share anomalous events. “The sheer volume of reports suggests a significant occurrence that many feel is being overlooked,” the narrator concludes, urging continued documentation to facilitate systematic investigation. As authorities and researchers await corroborated data, the community’s collective effort may prove essential in determining whether these incidents represent isolated curiosities or a pattern warranting deeper scientific scrutiny.

Mysterious 'hum' heard across several US states as residents report vibrating homes and sleepless nights

Mysterious 'hum' heard across several US states as residents report vibrating homes and sleepless nights

By STACY LIBERATORE, US SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY EDITOR

A mysterious humming noise has been reported in neighborhoods across several US states, rattling homes and leaving residents struggling to sleep.

The latest reports come from Vineland, New Jersey, where locals say the sound began after construction started on a massive 2.5-million-square-foot data center, though officials have not confirmed a direct link.

Residents say the constant noise is disrupting daily life. 'That is not construction, and that monstrosity is only partially built,' Scott Montgomery told ABC 6. 'It is infringing on our peace of mind and our tranquility.'

Similar complaints have surfaced in parts of Virginia, home to hundreds of data centers, and in Connecticut earlier this year, though officials in those areas have yet to identify a confirmed source.

Experts noted that data centers can produce continuous low-frequency humming caused by powerful cooling systems and electrical equipment operating around the clock.

Thousands of servers generate intense heat, requiring large fans and chillers that can produce noise levels between 55 and 85 decibels, often described as a low-pitched roar capable of traveling long distances.

'It's not even fully built yet. That's the scary part,' Montgomery added.

'If it sounds like this now, what's it going to be like when everything's up and running?'

Cumberland County Department of Health has acknowledged the noise concerns in the New Jersey town, noting it does not play a role in planning, zoning, or approving construction projects.

The agency added that it will investigate the construction site to determine if it is the source of the noise.

'If our inspectors find that noise levels are higher than those allowed under the code, we follow the enforcement guidelines under which a penalty may be issued if compliance is not obtained within a certain timeframe,' the agency shared on Facebook.

'While the Cumberland County Department of Health does not have the legal authority to shut down a facility, we do work collaboratively with those involved to resolve any confirmed violations of the Noise Control Act.'

The 2.4 million-square-foot data center is being built on South Lincoln Avenue and is owned by the company Data One.

In a statement, the company said the facility is complying with local regulations.

'Our site is operating in full compliance with Vineland City noise ordinance limits,' the company said. 'We will continue deploying sound reduction measures to minimize any impact on our neighbors.'

While authorities have yet to blame the data center for the noise, locals are sure it is the source.

One local shared on social media: 'I live about two miles away, and it's definitely there. Sounds like a huge engine idling all the time.'

Montgomery, who lives about a half a mile from the facility, said: 'It keeps you up at night, as you can hear it coming through the house.'

Another local, Theresa Lewis, expressed the same concern, saying that even when her doors and windows are closed, she still hears a constant humming.

'It's like someone is using some type of machinery around my house,' Lewis told ABC 6.

Montgomery posted a video of the noise on social media. In the recording, a humming sound can be heard.

'We're afraid it's even going to get worse, so it's just maddening to listen to this all the time. It's hard to fall asleep at night,' he said.

Similar reports from Connecticut surfaced earlier this year, but locals said they have been bothered by a humming noise since 2020.

A persistent low-frequency hum has disrupted life in West Haven, with residents describing the sound as both mysterious and, at times, unbearable.

After collecting more than 140 signatures on a petition, residents persuaded city leaders to approve $16,000 to hire an independent acoustic firm to investigate the source, which many believe may be linked to nearby industrial activity.

'For years, our community has been plagued by a constant or intermittent humming noise and low-frequency vibrations affecting multiple areas of town,' the petition notes. 'This disturbing phenomenon occurs at all hours, disrupting our ability to sleep, concentrate and enjoy life to its fullest.

'Many residents have reported increased levels of stress, anxiety and physical discomfort due to this incessant noise and vibration.'

While Connecticut authorities have yet to confirm the source, there are several data centers near West Haven, primarily in nearby New Haven, Wallingford, and the surrounding southern Connecticut area.

Lumen New Haven Data Center is about three to five miles from West Haven, while  Fibertech Networks is about four miles away, and Cloudsmart Data Center and ChimeNet Data Center are up to 20 miles from the town.

West Haven Commissioner of Human Services John Carrano shared that the City Council approved a $16,000 budget to hire a third-party acoustics firm to pinpoint the source of the 24/7 noise

Similar humming complaints have emerged across parts of Virginia, where hundreds of large data centers operate around the clock.

Residents have described hearing a deep, low-frequency buzz, sometimes accompanied by vibrations, fueling speculation about whether expanding data center infrastructure could be contributing to the unexplained noise.

Dale Brown from Great Oak told WUSA9: 'We're about 700 feet from the data center right here. It's just really, really loud.'

Residents living near the Amazon Web Services data center in Manassas and nearby facilities report both a persistent hum and low rumbling sounds that have sparked ongoing complaints.

Local Roger Yackel said: 'These data centers are loud, noisy beasts and they are being built too close to residential areas. That's not something that we should have to live with.'

John Lyver, a retired NASA analyst, has begun tracking noise coming from data centers near his neighborhood.

'I'm finding that the noise is far worse than anybody ever figured it was going to be,' he said.

Scientists stunned as 500-year-old 'miracle' image of Virgin Mary reveals impossible microscopic reflection

Scientists stunned as 500-year-old 'miracle' image of Virgin Mary reveals impossible microscopic reflection

By STACY LIBERATORE, US SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY EDITOR

A mysterious detail hidden inside one of the world's most famous religious images may defy conventional explanation, proving it might just be a miracle.

Scientists analyzing the Tilma of Guadalupe, a cactus-fiber cloak that Christians believe bears a miraculous image of the Virgin Mary, claimed they discovered at least 13 tiny human figures embedded within the eye.

The reflections are so small they can only be seen through digital enlargement, yet researchers said they resemble witnesses present when the artifact was first revealed in the 16th century.

After digitally processing high-resolution images, investigators also reported that sections of the face, hands, robe and mantle appear to have been applied in a single step, with no sketches, corrections or visible brush strokes.

'The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe has been the subject of numerous technical studies since 1751,' researchers wrote, adding that despite extensive investigation, 'none of the results offered any sound scientific explanation, which up to this very day defies science and all human reasoning.'

The image appears on the cloak, or tilma, of Juan Diego, a 16th-century Indigenous convert who reported seeing the Virgin Mary in 1531 near Mexico City.

According to tradition, the image suddenly appeared on the cloak when Juan Diego presented it to Juan de Zumárraga, stunning witnesses and becoming one of the most revered religious artifacts in the Americas.

Further analysis of the microscopic image suggested the reflections contain multiple figures, including witnesses who were allegedly present when the tilma was first displayed.

The claims have been published in a recent report titled 'Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe,' published by St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Texas, which summarizes various historical examinations of the tilma conducted over the past several centuries.

However, the details have also resurfaced online where people are hailing the Tilma of Guadalupe as 'the second greatest relic in history,' likely after Jesus' burial cloth.

One user shared on X: 'I've read this three times and my rational mind keeps running out of explanations. Science keeps confirming what faith already knew. But I still have my faith in science.'

Some have dismissed the claims, with another user saying: 'I'm pretty sure artists in the 16th century knew how images were distorted when reflected onto curved surfaces.'

In 1936, Nobel Prize-winning chemist Richard Kuhn was asked to analyze a small fiber sample taken from the cloak.

After examining the material, Kuhn reported that the pigments did not match any known colorants derived from plants, animals or minerals.

According to accounts of the analysis, the chemical composition of the coloring agents could not be identified using the pigment classifications available at the time.

The image was examined again using more modern technology in 1979, when biophysicist Philip Serna Callahan and art specialist Jody B Smith conducted an infrared photography study of the image, capturing high-resolution scans designed to reveal details invisible to the human eye.

Their analysis focused on how the image interacts with light and how the colors are distributed across the cloth.

The researchers reported that large portions of the image appeared unusually uniform, with color areas extending across the fabric without the layering patterns normally seen in traditional paintings.

The infrared images also showed that the pigments appeared to interact differently with light than conventional paints, producing subtle shifts in brightness depending on the angle of observation.

The team concluded that the technique used to create the image could not be easily explained using standard painting methods known from the 16th century, leaving the process by which the colors were applied unresolved.

Made from coarse fibers of the maguey cactus, a material that normally decays within a few decades, the fabric has survived for nearly five centuries without significant deterioration.

The cloak measures roughly five feet by three feet and consists of two pieces of cloth sewn together by a simple seam that runs through the center of the image.

The reflections are so small they can only be seen through digital enlargement, yet researchers said they resemble witnesses present when the artifact was first revealed in the 16th century. Further analysis suggested the reflections contain multiple figures, including witnesses who were allegedly present when the tilma was first displayed in 1531

Yet despite centuries of exposure to candle smoke, humidity, dust and repeated handling by pilgrims, the fabric has remained intact.

Studies of the cloth have noted that the tilma appears unusually resistant to insects and dust, and the colors of the image have retained their brightness despite long periods without a protective covering.

In the 18th century, two copies of the image were painted on similar cactus-fiber cloth using the best techniques of the time.

Both replicas deteriorated within decades, while the original remained unchanged, and even attempts to modify the image failed.

At one point, artists added decorative elements such as a crown and angels, but those additions faded away while the original figure remained untouched.

Scientists have also struggled to determine how the image itself was created. Analyses of the cloth have found no visible brush strokes, sketches or paint residues.

Some investigators reported that the colors appear to hover slightly above the surface of the fibers rather than soaking into the cloth.

'When examined closely, the colors disappear and only the fabric is visible,' researchers noted.

Skeptics, however, remain cautious, as many scientists argue the findings could be the result of visual interpretation or image processing artifacts rather than intentional details embedded in the painting.

Regardless, the tilma continues to attract intense scrutiny from both believers and researchers.

An ancient letter from Flavius Josephus serves as evidence of the historical existence of Jesus
Jesus of Nazareth was not a product of a slick PR team. He was a Jew preacher who was executed circa AD 30 by the Roman governor named Pontius Pilate, according to historians who are not found in the Bible. He is mentioned by Roman authors such as Tacitus and Jewish historian Josephus, who wrote in the first century. You can debate divinity. Erasing the man? That's harder than it sounds. And this is where one is likely to be surprised: it is not necessary to start with the New Testament at all. You could begin with a Jewish historian who did not preach, got himself into no church, and had Jesus in his books of history. Flavius Josephus is one of those who show that Jesus was a real man and that he did exist.
The argument asserting

The argument asserting "zero evidence" is fundamentally flawed
When the person mentions that they have no evidence of Jesus other than the Bible, what they are actually implying is that they have not encountered anything that resembles a modern blog. The history of the ancient world does not do this. You do not get bylines or headshots in 30 AD. You dredge up surviving literature, scrutinize intentions, and observe those who refer to Jesus without preaching. That is what Roman and Jewish authors did. They were individuals who were citing a real man to real things.
Flavius Josephus lived near the time of Jesus

Flavius Josephus lived near the time of Jesus
Josephus was born circa 37 or 38 AD in Jerusalem, which means he is one generation too late to have known those who could remember Jesus. By his early twenties, Flavius Josephus was a priest, a politician, and provided a first-hand view of the Jewish revolt which broke out in 66 AD. He gave up, changed his patrons, and continued writing. About 93 AD, during his middle 50s, he completedAntiquities of the Jews.
Josephus was not propagandizing his history as a Christian

Josephus was not propagandizing his history as a Christian
AD 71, Josephus had established herself at Rome under the nose of Vespasian and wrote to the Romans who were interested in power, order, and what can be done when leadership is deficient. The dropping of names by Josephus is not praise, but a token of culture. At the time he does so, you are viewing what people took as common knowledge, even things that they did not want to agree with.
Josephus mentions Jesus

Josephus mentions Jesus
The greatest Josephan allusion is found in Book 20, Chapter 9, 1 of the Antiquities, in which Josephus is speaking of the high priest Ananus or of his convening the Sanhedrin and sentencing James. He recognizes the James he is referring to as the brother of Jesus, the one who was called Christ, whose name was James.Josephus doesn't preach. He does not even bother to make you believe that Jesus existed. He benefits from using the name Jesus to make it clear to whom he is referring, as Jesus and James were popular names.
Power also works in the James story in the year AD 62 in Jerusalem

Power also works in the James story in the year AD 62 in Jerusalem
Josephus dates the death of James between the death of Porcius Festus and the arrival of Lucceius Albinus to replace him in military service, which allows Ananus to operate prior to Rome tightening the screws. Josephus writes that Ananus gathered the Sanhedrin of judges and forced through the executions by stoning. People complained. They contacted the king. They even stopped Albinus to tell him that Ananus was not to call a council without the consent of the Romans.King Agrippa changed Ananus in about three months and put in his own son, named Jesus, in his place, who was the son of Damneus.
The Testimonium Flavianum
©Edward Ryan
The Testimonium Flavianum
The passage frequently referred to as the Testimonium Flavianum also talks about Jesus according to Josephus in Book 18 of the Antiquities. The text, which has been kept in Greek books, contains words that resemble a Christian declaration of faith and even uses words that refer to Jesus as the Messiah and allude to the claims of resurrection. The majority of scholars do not subscribe to the fact that Josephus, who is a Jew writing to Romans, suddenly began to speak in the way he became a Christian. Rather, many agree to a modest theory that Josephus wrote something about Jesus, and later Christian copyists simply cleaned up the work over the years, adding to it. Or perhaps they did not, and he just one day chose to be part of the religion.
Even taking away the praise, Josephus still speaks about Jesus
©Edward Ryan

Even taking away the praise, Josephus still speaks about Jesus
After you clear them off that sound more like worship, what is left there to be like the shape that Josephus writes: Jesus as a teacher, a familiar figure, under Pontius Pilate, and there was a movement that continued. The precise wording is a matter of dispute among scholars, since we do not have the original copy of Josephus. The reconstruction by James D. G. Dunn reflects the type of baldness that so many scholars would anticipate, and it leads into the subsequent reference to James in Book 20 without making Josephus admit to believing. You do not have to have a line-by-line recovery of it to see the larger picture. Even a humble mention by Josephus gets him out of the Christian storytelling.
The manuscript trail explains why individuals struggle with wording
©Edward Ryan
The manuscript trail explains why individuals struggle with wording
Surviving manuscripts of Josephus do not exist from the first century. The earliest surviving Greek text with the Testimonium is that of the eleventh century (Ambrosianus 370 (F 128)) in Milan. There is debate on that gap, since Christian monks reproduced the surviving texts.Nevertheless, there is no need to stress and dump everything. Josephus is found in some 120 Greek manuscripts, dozens of which were translated before the fourteenth century, and 170 Latin manuscripts, some dating back to the sixth century. These traditions are compared by scholars to catch copyist fingerprints, verify names, and identify strange innuendos.
One of the non-Christian writers (Flavius Josephus) discusses Jesus
©Edward Ryan
One of the non-Christian writers (Flavius Josephus) discusses Jesus
Josephus is not going to provide a contemporary lab report of miracles or resurrection. That will not do in ancient history. Josephus does provide you with something more basic and more helpful: a non-Christian historian, who is independent, who connects early Christian leadership to a historical Jesus. And so when somebody tells you that Jesus was the work of a handful of fishermen and tax collectors, you are ready to answer him with the truth. Jesus existed. History says so. And here lies all the evidence you want.

Scientists Discover “Hidden” Lifeforms Thriving Beneath the World’s Driest Desert

Scientists Discover “Hidden” Lifeforms Thriving Beneath the World’s Driest Desert

Austin Burgess

The Atacama Desert in northern Chile is often described as the driest place on Earth. With almost no rainfall, intense ultraviolet radiation, and extremely salty soils, parts of the region are so extreme that scientists often liken its arid environment to the surface of Mars.

And yet, remarkably, even despite the harsh surface conditions, a variety of organisms continue to survive below ground.

A recent study from the University of Cologne has revealed that microscopic worms known as nematodes form surprisingly diverse communities throughout the Atacama Desert. Published in Nature Communications, the research shows that underground biodiversity increases with increasing moisture, while elevation and temperature determine which nematode species can survive in different parts of the desert.

Life Beneath an Extreme Landscape

Nematodes are among the most common varieties of tiny lifeforms that are found in soils worldwide. These minuscule worms often play a crucial role in helping control microbes and are important for moving nutrients through the soil. They live in many places, from the deep sea to the Arctic. As a result, they are useful for studying how life adapts to harsh environments.

“Soils are important for the performance of an ecosystem, for example, for carbon storage and nutrient supply,” said Dr. Philipp Schiffer of the University of Cologne’s Institute of Zoology and a co-author of the study. “This is why understanding the organisms — not microbes, but multicellular animals — that live there is so important.”

Although the Atacama Desert has been studied for decades, the diversity of animals living in its soils remains poorly understood.

Studying Atacama’s “hidden” Lifeforms

The research team surveyed nematode populations across six different regions of the Atacama Desert to better understand how life persists in these extreme conditions. The sites spanned a range of environments, from moist, high-altitude areas with abundant vegetation to salty desert plains blasted by ultraviolet light, and even rare oases fed by fog.

The team collected soil samples from diverse habitats, including sand dunes, salt flats, riverbeds, and mountain slopes, to assess nematode biodiversity and population structure. Their analysis focused on both the variety of species present and the reproductive strategies used by nematodes in each setting.

Asexual Survival Strategies

The findings revealed clear differences in nematode communities across the Atacama. In the highest and most inhospitable regions, many species reproduce asexually through parthenogenesis, generating offspring without fertilization. This pattern supports the hypothesis that asexual reproduction provides an advantage in extreme environments, where finding mates can be challenging.

The study also found that nematode diversity was highest in areas with more moisture. Regions with greater rainfall supported a wider range of species, while temperature differences shaped which communities could survive in each area.

Fragile Ecosystems in a Changing Climate

The results suggest that stable soil ecosystems can exist even in extreme places, but these systems may be more fragile than previously believed. In some areas, the researchers found simpler food webs, showing that these ecosystems also have less ecological complexity.

“In some of the examined regions, simplified food webs indicate that these ecosystems are already damaged and may therefore be more susceptible to disruptions,” the researchers noted.

Understanding how organisms adapt to extreme environments could become increasingly important as climate change expands arid conditions across many parts of the planet.

“In light of increasing global aridity, which is affecting more and more regions worldwide, these results are becoming increasingly relevant,” Schiffer said.

The research demonstrates that basic ecological patterns, such as precipitation and altitude, continue to influence biodiversity even in some of the planet’s most extreme environments. The Atacama Desert continues to serve as a valuable natural laboratory for understanding how life endures at the limits of environmental tolerance.

BEDANKT!!!
