Colorado witnesses at Colorado Springs reported watching a “lighted object” hovering over nearby mountains in the shape of a horseshoe that quickly disappeared, according to testimony in Case 62085 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The reporting witness and his wife were driving on December 16, 2014, when the object was noticed above the north ridge of Pikes Peak.

“We were driving at the time, headed west on Woodmen Road, and then west on Rockrimmon,” the witness stated. “Then west on Vindicator. We witnessed what I thought was a light that had a horseshoe shape. My wife thought it was an object emitting light, but the shape was consistent for both of us.”

The witnesses’ wife used a cell phone to take two photos of the distant object: Image 1 and Image 2.

“The pictures are obviously not as detailed as what we saw, but did offer a picture that shows a light with a sense of direction. The photos were both taken at 4:48 p.m. on the 16th of December, with an iPhone 5s.”

They were first drawn to the object by its light.

“We noticed the object because it was extremely bright at dusk. The brightness is what brought our attention to it. I had no clue what the object might have been when I first laid eyes it, but my wife thought it was some type of rocket.”

The witness described the object.

“The light/object was just above the north ridge of Pikes Peak. It was a constant yellow-orange-reddish light that was unwavering in brightness. It appeared as a horseshoe shape with the ends of the shoe pointed down and turned at an angle so you could see the opening at the bottom and the arch at the top. It seemed to move slowly in a southern direction and then hover.”

The entire sighting lasted just two minutes.

“Then the object simply disappeared with no trace left. We both felt hearts race and a feeling of excitement, but almost doubt as well. My wife looked for any explanation that it could be on the Internet and found nothing. We researched more into this and that’s when we found MUFON.”

We previously reported on a Colorado witness at Colorado Springs who watched two sphere-shaped UFOs move toward each other, circle each other, and then move away from each other in opposite directions on December 1, 2014, according to testimony in Case 62026. Colorado Springs is the county seat and most populous city of El Paso County, Colorado, population 439,886.

Colorado has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. Colorado had 5 UFO reports that occurred during November 2014 – calculated at 0.96 sightings per million population.

The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 – 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 – 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 – 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.

 We were staying at my wife’s mom and dad’s place. We were staying in our fifth wheel travel trailer. At about 9:20 I took our dog out to use the restroom. The night was clear and warm I was looking at the mountain range that is not very far from where we were staying. After the dog finished his business I picked him up and was walking back to the trailer. There was 3 very  bright flashes of light. I’m taking like they were as bright as welding flashes. I was walking to the west I turned my head over my left shoulder and seen a ship that was huge just sitting there. It was triangular shape with lights running down the middle of it. The lights were white and I could see the shape very clearly. I stood there for a bit just looking at it. All of a sudden I took off running towards the trailer I was probably about 15 feet from the door I jerked the door opened and told my wife come here and look at this. She was getting up when I looked back up over my right shoulder and it was gone. I stepped away from the trailer and started looking for it.

I looked all over and it was not there.I never heard a noise or anything. I told my wife what I saw.  I still don’t know how anything that big could have disappeared that fast.  I didn’t sleep very well that night. I asked my father in law if they had ever seen anything weird before and he surprised me and said yes. I told him what I saw and he said they have never seen anything like that but they had seen other things. For some reason he still will not talk about what they have seen.

Nick Pope – Britain’s Most Famous UFO Case – December 22, 2014

Open Minds UFO Radio: Nick Pope was in charge of the British Ministry of Defence’s UFO desk from 1991 to 1994. It was his job to officially investigate UFO reports, and although he was skeptical at first, the reports convinced him of the serious nature of the phenomenon. He has been an advocate for the serious investigation of UFO sightings ever since.

Recently, he co-wrote a book on the Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident, Encounter at Rendlesham Forest,  with two of the main witnesses, John Burroughs and Jim Penniston. This case involved multiple military witnesses seeing UFOs outside of two US Air Force bases in the UK, on lease from the British military. The events took place over several days during the holiday season of 1980. Controversy continues to surround the incident and Pope’s new book as well.

An ancient encampment discovered near the prehistoric monument could rewrite British history.

The earliest settlement ever found at the site, the Mesolithic 'Blick Mead' encampment is located about a mile and a half from Stonehenge and dates back to 4,000 BC.

Archaeologists exploring the site, which is believed to have been occupied by hunter gatherers returning to the British Isles after the last Ice Age, discovered signs of feasting such as burnt flints and the remains of giant bulls called aurochs which are now extinct.

"British pre-History may have to be rewritten," said archaeologist David Jacques who made the discovery. "This is the latest dated Mesolithic encampment ever found in the UK."

"Blick Mead site connects the early hunter gatherer groups returning to Britain after the Ice Age to the Stonehenge area all the way through to the Neolithic in the late 5th Millennium BC."

Concerns have been raised however concerning proposals to construct a road tunnel underneath Stonehenge with experts fearing that the project could destroy valuable archaeological evidence.

"Our only chance to find out about the earliest chapter of Britain’s history could be wrecked if the tunnel goes ahead," said Jacques.

NASA's Kepler Space Telescope Discovers Alien 'Super Earth' 180 Light-Years Away

Call it the comeback of the year.

Last year, equipment failure caused NASA to deem its $600-million Kepler space telescope irreparable. But since then, astronomers and engineers devised an ingenious way to repurpose Kepler, whose mission has been to scour the cosmos in search of Earthlike planets.

And now, the planet-hunting probe not only has been reborn, but also has discovered a massive exoplanet some 180 light-years away.

The planet, HIP 116454b, is a "super Earth" with a diameter 2.5 times the diameter of Earth. It orbits a star a little cooler and smaller than our sun, located in the Pisces constellation. The planet is too close to its star to support life as we know it, according to NASA.

Super Earths are in a class of planets that don't exist in our solar system, and HIP 116454b's average density suggests that it is either a watery world (three-fourths water and one-fourth rock) or a planet with a gaseous atmosphere, like a mini-Neptune.

"The Kepler mission showed us that planets larger in size than Earth and smaller than Neptune are common in the galaxy, yet they are absent in our solar system," Steve Howell, Kepler project scientist at NASA's Ames Research Center, said in a written statement.

Since its launch in 2009, Kepler has found nearly 1,000 confirmed Earth-like planets -- and when two of Kepler's gyroscope-like steering wheels failed last year, astronomers devised alternative methods to keep the hunt alive.

Scientists at Ball Aerospace in Colorado came up with an idea the Los Angeles Times called "so crazy it just might work." Since light particles from the sun exert enough pressure to push Kepler around, scientists realized they could harness this energy and use it as a "third wheel" to control Kepler. The plan worked.

“Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Kepler has been reborn and is continuing to make discoveries," researcher Andrew Vanderburg, a  graduate student at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass., said in a written statement. "Even better, the planet it found is ripe for follow-up studies.”

Dark Matter Signal May Have Been Found In Mysterious X-Ray Data

After a decades-long search, astronomers may finally have found the first sign of dark matter. That's the invisible substance that scientists believe makes up the bulk of our universe, since visible matter accounts for only about 20 percent of our universe by weight.

While scientists can observe dark matter indirectly by looking at its gravitational effects on visible matter, they have struggled to come up with tangible evidence that proves the stuff exists--until now.

This week, a team of researchers from Switzerland and the Netherlands announced that they may have detected the signal of decaying dark matter particles.

For the research, the team analyzed the x-rays emitted from two celestial objects: the Perseus galaxy cluster, an array of galaxies located approximately 250 million light years from Earth, and our "sister" galaxy Andromeda, which is approximately 2.5 million light years away. The researchers looked at data collected by the European Space Agency's XMM-Newton telescope and spotted a mysterious "anomaly" that could not have been emitted by any known atom or particle.

The same strange x-ray spike was also detected by a research team at Harvard in June, who announced they had spotted the emission in data from 70 different galaxy clusters.

"This tiny (several hundred extra photons) excess has been interpreted as originating from very rare decays of dark matter particles," Dr. Alexey Boyarsky, a professor of physics at Leiden University in the Netherlands and the lead researcher for the new study, told The Huffington Post in an email. "Although the signal is very weak, it has passed several 'sanity checks' that one expects from a decaying dark matter signal."

For instance, the researchers say the signal was more concentrated in the center and weak at the edges of Andromeda and the Perseus cluster, which corresponds to what they expected. Boyarsky added that the team has now found a signal at the same wave length coming from our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

Boyarsky and his team believe the signal comes from the decay of a dark matter particle, possibly a "sterile neutrino," which is a hypothetical particle believed to be 1/100th the size of an electron.

"Confirmation of this discovery may lead to construction of new telescopes specially designed for studying the signals from dark matter particles," Boyarsky said in a written statement. "We will know where to look in order to trace dark structures in space and will be able to reconstruct how the Universe has formed."

It was turning five in the morning on New Year’s Day 1970, when Miss Doreen Kendall, a practical nurse at the Cowichan District Hospital on Vancouver Island, noticed that one of the elderly patients in her ward was restless. Deciding the patient was too warm, she went to a window and parted the drapes to let in a little air.  “Just as I pulled the drapes a brilliant light hit me in the eyes,” she said. “It was still dark outside, but about 60 feet away right above the children’s ward to my left there was this object so big and bright I could see everything clearly.”  “The object was circular and had what I guess you would call a top and bottom. The bottom was silvery, like metal, and was shaped like a bowl. There was a string of bright lights around it like a necklace. The top was a dome made of something like glass. It was lit up from inside and I could see right into it.” 

Continuing her account in question-and-answer form, Miss Kendall told me there were two male-like figures in the craft, one behind the other, facing to her right away from the hospital. The one in front appeared taller, or perhaps was positioned higher, than the other. Their heads were encased in close-fitting dark material.  As she watched with intense curiosity, yet completely unfrightened – “I never felt so peaceful in all my life. I wish I could have talked to them” – she became aware of seeing more of the interior of the craft and realized it was tilting. In a moment she could see to a point just below their knees and noticed they were standing in front of what looked like stools.”They looked like fine, tall, well-built men,” she said. “They were dressed in tight-fitting suits of the same material that covered their heads but their hands were bare and I noticed how human they looked. Their flesh seemed just like ours.” 

Intrigued as she was by the appearance of the two figures, Miss Kendall found her interest centered on what looked like an instrument panel facing the one in front. The man in front was staring at the panel as if something very important was going on, and I wondered if they might have had mechanical trouble. I even thought they might have landed on the roof of the hospital and then had trouble taking off.”  She described the panel as a very large one, taking up almost half the interior of the object and reaching nearly to the top of the dome. The instruments, if that is what they were, seemed to be inset in the chrome-like metal of the panel and there was a variety of sizes.  The total sight was so absorbing that at first Miss Kendall’s thoughts were lost to everything else, and for a moment she forgot Mrs. Frieda Wilson, a registered nurse, was in the same room.   “Then when I did think of it, I guess I hesitated. I felt I mustn’t make a noise or do anything that would break the trend of what was happening.” 

At this point, almost as if her thoughts were being read, she saw the figure in the rear turn slowly and face squarely in her direction.  “He seemed to look right at me but I couldn’t see his face. It was covered by a darkish material that looked softer than the rest of his suit. I’m sure he saw me because then he touched the other man on the back. When he did this, the man in front reached down and took hold of something like a lever beside him. I’ll never forget how deliberately he did it. He pushed it back and forth and the saucer, or whatever you’d call it, started to circle slowly, still close to the building, in an anticlockwise direction.”  The motion seemed to break the spell for Miss Kendall, for then she remembered Mrs. Wilson was there and called her over.  Later I spoke separately to Mrs. Wilson, who said, “I noticed Miss Kendall standing at the window and wondered what she was looking at. In fact, I was just going to see when she beckoned to me, and then I saw this great big light over the patio outside the children’s ward. I’d say it was quite a bit larger than a car. (By the estimate of both witnesses, the object spanned a width of about five windows of the children’s ward. This gave it a diameter of at least 50 feet.) It looked circular in shape and the far side seemed to be higher than the side near us. It was moving around slowly and then it started to move away. I didn’t really see any top or bottom to it. It was all just tremendously bright.”
