NASA TREMBLES: CHINESE SPACE MISSION REVEALED THAT THE US NEVER STEPPED ON THE MOON (2019)
Conspiracy experts have always believed that the US government, desperate to beat the Russians in the space race, recreated the lunar landing with Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin at the head of the mission filmed on a secret set.
But now other new evidence would prove the conspiracy theory, on Saturday the unmanned China probe, Chang’e 3, made a successful landing on the moon, according to Chinese state media.
WHO LIES? BROWN LUNAR SOIL? According to Chinese state television, the Chang’e-3 landed successfully on the Moon after a 13-day trip from Earth. The landing craft brought with it a solar-powered robotic robot called Jade Rabbit or Yutu in Mandarin Chinese, which would emerge several hours later to begin exploring the Sinus Iridum, or Rainbow Bay, a relatively smooth plain formed by solidified lava.
But the controversy arose after the National Space Administration of China published the first photographs of the lunar soil, which is apparently not grayish in color, is brown.
The conspirators claim that the surface of the moon is actually light brown with scattered rocks, obviously lighter in color. Many people say that maybe this is the first time we can really have a close and independent view of the lunar surface in its original color.
CONSPIRATORS They have ventured to say that earlier this month, NASA asked China to postpone its mission to the Moon. NASA said they were seriously concerned about the final objectives of the moon mission of the Chinese leaders.
Recently, the Russian portal “Vesti” reported that China’s goal was to turn the Moon into a “Death Star”, a place where large-scale ballistic tests will be conducted with a take-off zone for space exploration ships.
This project coincides with the statements of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who declared that China should establish itself as a space superpower.
The latest images offered by the National Space Administration of China (CNSA) clearly show the assembly held by the United States to show the world that they were the only ones able to reach the lunar soil, but on the other hand, others believe that it is another landing fake of the moon like the rover “Curuosity”.
As we always say, everyone draws their own conclusions.
WHAT DID HE KNOW? George Bush Sr took UFO secrets to the grave – because ‘Americans couldn’t handle the truth’, lobbyist claims
American UFO lobbyist Steve Bassett said Bush Sr could have ended the UFO "cover up" - but decided not to
EXCLUSIVE
By Emma Parry, Digital US Correspondent
FORMER US president George Bush Sr knew UFOs were real but took his secrets to the grave because the American people "could not handle the truth", a lobbyist has claimed.
The 41st President of the United States, who died last month aged 94, was a former director of the Central Intelligence Agency and was briefed daily by spooks while in the White House.

George Bush Sr was briefed on all of America's UFO secrets , according to expert
And according to UFO researchers he would have been the "ideal" president to disclose the truth about UFOs as he was so well informed.
But he kept all his UFO knowledge a secret right up until he died at his home in Houston, Texas.
Steve Bassett, an American UFO lobbyist, told Sun Online Bush knew the truth about extra terrestrial life and could have ended the UFO cover-up.
He said: "The consensus among researchers is George H. W. Bush would have been briefed on the extra-terrestrial presence to whatever extent he so desired.
GETTY
Bush did not believe people could "handle" the truth about UFOs
"There is no clear evidence George H. W. Bush wanted 'Disclosure'. That said, it is my view the military/intelligence complex would have been quite comfortable with 'Disclosure' taking place during a second term of President George H. W. Bush.
"He would have been the ideal 'Disclosure' President from their perspective. The Cold War was over and the door was now open to end a very expensive and complex truth embargo."
While director of the CIA, Bush is said to have even blocked former president Jimmy Carter's attempts to obtain UFO information during an alleged briefing on November 19, 1976.
Bush told the president-elect he didn't have the need to know but if he wanted information he should ask the Congressional Research Service (CRS) to prepare a briefing for the new administration.
STEVE BASSETT
Steve Bassett is the only registered UFO lobbyist on the alien disclosure subject in the US
Carter had pledged he would disclose to US citizens what the government knew about UFOs if elected after witnessing a strange light while governor of Georgia in 1969.
Bassett, the executive director of UFO campaign group Paradigm Research Group, thinks Bush rebuffed Carter as he knew some UFOs were extra-terrestrial in origin.
He said: "We do know the newly elected President Carter approached CIA Director Bush regarding a study the White House wished to initiate regarding the extra-terrestrial issue.
"Bush declined to cooperate and referred him to another agency. This may have guaranteed he would not be able to stay on as CIA Director - or not.
"Carter fired him shortly thereafter. One might ask, 'If there was no truth to the extra-terrestrial hypothesis, why would Bush disrespect a presidential request?'"

Bush Sr was the former director of the CIA
While campaigning with his son Jeb Bush in the 1980s, Bush was asked about UFOs by a journalist. He replied: "Americans can't handle the truth."
Bush was also quizzed by UFO researcher Charles Huffer during a presidential rally trip to Rogers, Arkansas, in 1988 during which he asked Bush: "Will you tell the people the truth about UFOs?"
Bush replied: "Yeah. if we can find it, what it is. We are really interested." When pressed further Bush replied: "I know some. I know a fair amount."
Bush also supported space exploration, and was once quoted in a speech as saying: "We will travel to neighbouring stars, to new worlds, to discover the unknown."

Bush believed Americans "could not handle the truth about UFOs"
Bassett, who organised the Citizens Hearings in 2012 - which saw dozens of military, government and intelligence officers give evidence about UFOs to six former members of Congress - believes Bush was also aware of the infamous Roswell UFO crash in July 1947.
He added: "It is my view Bush was quite knowledgeable about the history of the extra-terrestrial presence to the extent he required. Did that include the July 1947 Roswell events? Almost certainly yes."
Last year Bush's son George appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live show to plug his autobiography but remained tight-lipped when asked about UFOs.
Kimmel said: "This is a question I think is very important to me and very important to the country.
"When you were in office - and I don't know when this ever or if it happened - did you go through the secret files, the UFO documents? Because if I was president that would be the first thing I did."
But instead of laughing off the question or branding Kimmel a crackpot, the former US leader replied: "Maybe."

Bush would have known about the infamous Roswell incident, according to Bassett
He then went on to reveal his daughters Barbara and Jenna asked him the same question when he served as the 43rd President of the United States but he couldn't tell them anything.
Bush was one of three former presidents and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, to go on Kimmel to discuss the UFO topic.
Barack Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton have all previously spoken out about UFOs on the show.
Hillary vowed to launch a probe if she made it to the White House but she was pipped by Donald Trump.
And Hillary’s campaign manager John Podesta, Bill’s former Chief of Staff, has called for the lid to be lifted on UFOs.
In 2015, he tweeted his biggest regret after leaving his job as President Obama’s advisor was “once again not securing the #disclosure of the UFO files.”
President Trump recently announced plans to launch a US Space Force by 2020 - some insiders believe it is in response to a hostile alien threat.
Gigantic 'object' spotted towering over Earth from ISS – before NASA live feed is CUT
A BIZARRE blue object has been spotted hovering over Earth on a NASA live feed from the International Space Station – before the footage was mysteriously cut.
In a video posted online, a mysterious object seems to appear above the planet.
The glowing object – which appears blueish in hue with a white centre – can be seen in the background of NASA’s live feed.
As the camera zooms in, the alarming size of it becomes clearer as it towers over the planet.
But NASA’s feed is promptly cut short, reading: “Please stand by.
“The High Definition Earth Viewing experiment is either switching cameras, or we are experiencing a temporary loss of signal with the International Space Station.”
Unsurprisingly, the unexpected cut left conspiracy theorists up in arms.
One stunned viewer wrote: “That was a weird looking blob next to the space station?”
WHAT IS THAT? A strange blue object is spotted on the ISS feed
(Pic: YOUTUBE/JOETHAI)
Another added: "NASA is lying."
A third argued the object could be a “space ice ball”, with viewers noticing the object looked like “a drop of water in zero gravity”.
But this is by no means the first time the ISS feed has picked up on something strange in the earth’s atmosphere.
Earlier this year, viewers noticed a white object floating across the International Space Station’s live feed.
It is not just space where UFOs have been seen in recent months.
In an exclusive pre-release look at Blaze's new Ancient Alien series, conspiracists claimed the fabled Ark of the Covenant held extraterrestrial powers.
Of all of the unsettling denizens of the paranormal that could pop out of the darkness, one of the odder has to be the pale face of a humanoid creature beyond description, eluding all attempts to categorize it. These gaunt, hunched over specters seem to haunt the fringe of reports of the mysterious and supernatural, and I have covered them before here to some extent. Yet there are countless such reports coming from people from all walks of life and from all over. Here is a selection of various reports of spectral, deathly pale beings that are humanoid to some extent, but most certainly not human, circling out past the boundaries of the truly odd.
One witness brings us the story of an anonymous Reddit poster who says he had a very spooky encounter in 2006 in rural Arkansas, in the United States. He claims that this happened when he was only 12 years old, and that he had lived in a modest house nestled on around an acre of land out in the boondocks, surrounded by dim woods and its only tendril to the outside world an unpaved dirt road meandering off through the trees. Making the whole scene even spookier is the alleged fact that there was a big old abandoned slaughterhouse somewhere back in the wooded area, as well as the remnants of some burned down house owned by anonymous parties long since gone. Whether this had anything to do with what was to come or not, the witness describes the whole area as rather “mystical and special,” as well as “odd in general,” and that his encounter would happen one evening when he went out to lie down on the outside trampoline after an argument with his parents. It was just him and that big sky with a full moon framed within it, and he says of what happened next:
So I’m laying on the trampoline, and other than the moon there isn’t any light aside from the porch light which is a ways behind me. All of the sudden I vaguely see something move. Its coming from the lot across from the dirt road, and its coming towards me. We had a Boston terrier at the time and at first I figured it was him. But as it got closer I knew that’s not what it was.
It was sickly pale. It walked on all fours with its hands but seemed to be able to walk upright. Its kind of galloping towards me on all fours and its a little bit aways at this point but getting closer. The light bounced off of its skin and it almost seemed to look wet. Its gait and color is pretty clear to me but I don’t remember anything distinct about its face except that it just seems to be whitewashed to me. It’s happening so fast and now it is right near me still running and then I can’t see it. It’s under the trampoline. And then I feel it, I feel it PUSH up on the trampoline. I didn’t even bother to look back as I ran to the house. I don’t remember my thought process at all past that point but my mom has told me that I came in the house hollering and absolutely terrified.
I’ve thought about this consistently over the years and as I’ve gotten older have seen stories of similar creatures. I used to describe it as looking like Gollum from the LOTR. I think of the creature kind of fondly in a way. It would never have occurred to me at the time but it almost had a playful vibe to it, and it makes me sad to think that it’s just some lonely but semi-intelligent creature. Maybe a grotesque experiment or some off-kilter evolutionary line. I don’t think that’s impossible. I guess I like to let my imagination run wild with it though. I will always be curious about this and the place in general.
It is hard to know how much stock to put into Reddit reports, but there sure are a lot along the same lines. Another poster at Reddit /r/paranormal gives his own freaky encounter, for which he even supplies photographic evidence. This supposedly happened in 2012, at an undisclosed location at a close-knit friendly barn community in a rural area of the United States, surrounded by dim woods laced with small, scenic trails. The witness says that his two horses were kept on the property, which was near his home and which he would visit ever day to care for and ride around through the peaceful scenery. One evening he had a startling experience as he rode one of the horses, of which he would say:
One evening, around 5pm, I was sitting on her, letting her stand when she started snorting and backing up. I looked up and saw this white/grey creature crawling out of the woods towards us. It had a very small round head, it’s eyes were just pits. It had a very small mouth, not much detail there. It’s arms were very long and thin, fingers also like that. Its rib cage was very pronounced and defined, and it’s legs were long and lanky.
Its movements were very jerky, not smooth and fluid. It slowly jerked out to us, when my horse turned and bolted out of the arena. She’s a dead broke, calm, well manners horse who never spooked before this. Stubborn old mare, but not spooky. She would not go back into the arena that night. I walked her around the barn yard, staying near the main barn, put her up, and ran out to peek into the arena, to find nothing except some “foot prints” where I saw the thing.
This would not be the end of the sightings of this odd creature, as the witness says it would lurk around the dark periphery of the property all through that summer, often peeking around the gate that led out into the woods. On one occasion he saw it running along the other side of the fence, keeping up with him and the horse. It was eerie to be sure, and the witness continues:
I continued seeing it, mainly in the woods, but it was always around. Summer 2013, the barn shut down when the owner died. We moved the horses to a friends place for the time being, and I didn’t see it there. Late summer/fall 2013, I found a new barn. Woods directly behind the barn and arena. This place had lights and was much newer. About a month later, when I was getting ready to leave I heard something in the woods, I looked down the barn aisle into the woods and saw the creature running down the road into the woods. I saw it much less frequently for a while, until later in fall 2014 I began seeing it in the back pastures woods, it darted in and out of the tree line. I saw a second one sitting in a neighbors yard, it would sit in the same spot every day and watch me ride.
Started taking pictures, which are very poor and crappy, and sent them to a friend who claimed he and some others have seen it. Kept seeing it occasionally, but from a much greater distance than at the first barn. I went with this barn owner to another farm to get some stuff, when I saw a very very large version of this creature run out from the woods, right behind a tree I was 10 feet from, while I was alone by the trailer.
Last November, I house sat for the barn owners. I went out around 2am to fill water troughs and enjoy the full moon and cool night. I was sitting in the back pasture when 3 of the creatures began coming from the woods, one came up to the trees near the trough where I was, the other two were walking along the tree line. The horses were silently munching their hay, pretty far from where the creatures were. I messaged the guy from earlier and told him what was going on. Since that incident, I haven’t really seen them. Last summer, I did see one outside my house staring into the windows. A few weeks ago, one was outside my bedroom windows tapping and making a strange faint shrieking sound.
Supposed photo taken of the entity
Unfortunately the pictures don’t really seem conclusive at all, and we are left to wonder just what was going on here, if anything at all. Another Reddit poster gave his own report of a strange occurrence at a rural country house when he was 15 years old. At the time he was apparently in his bedroom on a very dark night, and was about to close the blinds to the window when he caught a glimpse of a “pure white almost glowing man/thing” glaring at him from next to a nearby pine tree. He would describe what happened as follows:
It was crouched down kind of in a spider-man pose and I believe it had larger black eyes. Not like something you see from the greys but it was a feature that stood out to me. It was very muscular, I distinctly remember seeing well defined arm muscles, it seemed just very muscular in general. It wasn’t too thin it was just strong looking. I don’t know how tall it was because it was crouched down looking up at me. I don’t remember if it’s head appeared larger than an average humans head, but I remember it was very bald.
When I saw this creature I screamed for my mom, she came to the window and saw something that startled her too and ran downstairs to our back porch and yelled “who’s out there! Come out!” I remember standing behind my mother nervous with fear. We went back to my room and looked out the window and it was gone. I have this weird feeling that someday I’ll see it again. I’m not sure why, I just feel it.
A very similar report was posted on The National Cryptid Society, and was given by a witness in the Midwest United States. The report again concerns pale, humanoid things wandering about the dark outside of windows in the middle of nowhere, and the witness says:
When I was in 6th grade, I looked out the living room window and saw a white reflection. My mom grabbed a flashlight and looked out the window, she could see some white animal crawling around on the ground in the clearing by our house. It was approximately raccoon-sized, but white and apparently able to get 3′ up to the window. The next morning, before sunrise, I was letting my dog outside. He ran out the garage door and began barking and growling (completely out of character for him). I stepped around the door frame and saw an approximately 5′ tall pale being with two huge, glowing eyes and some form of round glowing item where a mouth or neck might be. My sixth grade self screamed, turned, and ran back inside, leaving my mother and dog out to fend for themselves.
By the time my mom figured out what happened and I calmed down enough to come back out, the thing was gone. To this day, I’m terrified of the woods surrounding their house at night. When I visit, I leave before sunset or have someone walk me to my car. It has been over 15 years. I would also like to add that I don’t believe in “aliens” or “ghosts” or anything, but I have no clue what these things were.
What are these things and what do they want? Was this a ghost, an alien, some sort of unidentified animal, or what? Our next account was provided to the site Phantoms and Monsters, and supposedly happened at Big Bear Lake, California, in 2017. The witness claims she had just checked into a Best Western motel in the area at just after midnight, and was going to her car to get her luggage when she had the fright of her life. According to the witness, it was very dark and was cold and snowy, with her just wanting to get her stuff and get in out of the cold. She says:
It had been snowing and was extremely dark, my car was facing a country road. When I hit the unlock button on my car, the parking and interior lights came on. This allowed me to see two eyes reflecting in the middle of the road, about 10-15 ft from me. At first, I thought it was a deer, I have lived in Colorado and I’m accustomed to seeing wildlife.
I instantly stopped and remained still as I didn’t want to scare off the what I thought was a deer. As my eyes glanced downwards, I noticed it wasn’t a deer, it looked like a white, hairless naked man on all fours. It was at least four feet in height, on all fours. Probably around 15 ft if it stood up. There was a brief moment as our eyes made contact. It then, as quickly as I have ever seen any animal, turned around, ran as fast as a cheetah away from me and then, straight up a tree. I was frozen in disbelief. I said out loud to myself, “you have to be flipping kidding me”. Just as I was going to convince myself that this couldn’t possibly be happening, it leapt from tree top to tree top and I could see it’s full outline as it did so.
The speed and strength it had is like nothing I’ve ever heard of before. The creature was definitely solid, it appeared as if it was coming toward me, possibly hunting me? I don’t know what stopped it. Was it the lights that went on? It had no visible genitalia. it had a very human like qualities. None of this makes sense to me, the speed, agility of the creature and there shouldn’t be anyway that the treetops should have been able to hold the weight of the creature. It appeared to be flashing like a TV going in and out of reception as it sprinted up the tree. It also didn’t appear to disrupt the foliage as it did so.
Besides hanging out in the shadows and woods of rural properties, similar pale humanoids have been encountered on roads as well, where the lane lines come flickering out of the gloom to go racing back into the night. In a report to the July 15, 2016 episode of Coast To Coast AM, a caller named “Nate” gave his experience while driving along a desolate road in rural Illinois. He says that he is a truck driver, a profession that has numerous brushes with the paranormal, and on this night he was heading east on I-80 through Illinois. He would tell Coast to Coast:
I had stayed the night, well, the afternoon in Des Moines to get some sleep and I got a fresh eight hours of sleep and I had just got on the road. It was about dusk and the sun was just about to set and I was driving and I seen a figure just ahead of me on I-80 and it was right on the side of the road. When I say right on the side of the road, I don’t mean in the grass. Its toes were right on the white line. I slowed down a little bit to kind of see what was going on there and maybe avoid it. When I got about fifty yards from it. I got down to about 50 miles per hour and I could see it clear. I had my brights on and everything. It was a man. Well, it looked like a man about maybe 5’9 or 5’10. Couldn’t have been more than a hundred pounds soaking wet. And when I got up to him he looked at me and George I kid you not, he had no eyes, no mouth, no nostrils. There was no orifice on his face. He was pale white. No hair. No features whatsoever. There was a… It looked like a skeleton with bleached white skin. He was just kind of standing there looking right at me. I slowed down and as soon as I seen his face, he looked up at me, boy, I flipped the hammer down from Illinois all the way to Chicago. I never looked back. My blood ran cold. My hair stood up. I was one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen in my life.
Another such account was reported on Reddit by a witness who says his frightening encounter happened on Christmas Night of 2007, at a lakeside community in rural upstate New York. The festivities had worn down and at around 8 PM the witness took off in his car to a friend’s house. The place was only about a 10-minute drive away and the night was clear, so there would have been no reason to suspect that anything would happen in such a quiet and peaceful place, but things would quickly take a turn into the weird. He would say of his harrowing encounter:
As I drove, I noticed what looked like someone walking up ahead on the opposite side of the road, coming in my direction. Mind you, I was still going about 20 mph the whole time, so it was probably less than a minute by the time the “walker” came into clear view. I got a quick scan of it from my windshield before my car and it were exactly parallel.
It was not a person. It stood on two long legs, with long arms hanging down from its shoulders. It was strong looking. Lean, muscular, but not beefy in stature. It looked thin at the same time. It stood at least 7 foot tall. It was light coloured: not sure whether it was white, tan, yellow or greyish. It didn’t appear to have fur but there was some texture to the skin- it wasn’t smooth. There appeared to be something coming down off its back. I don’t know what this was. All I can recall about it’s face is the small features it had but the mouth and jaw were notably large. And it had pointed things atop its head- 2 things going straight upward with something mingled between the two things. That’s what I got from a quick scan and from my observation of it as it neared my car and my car neared it.
As my car became parallel to it within a split second, I went from looking out my windshield to looking at it from my drivers side window. In that moment, it’s face quickly peered down at me and all I remember was the mouth opened wide. Out came a remarkable scream that I’ll never forget. Gives me the chills just thinking about it. It consisted of a high-pitched shrill/shriek, enveloped by a deep guttural growl. Both sounds happened simultaneously in that scream.
I kept driving all the while. This was all happening so fast that I didn’t even have a chance to be scared or shocked or anything. I continued driving and went past my friends house and drove home. Called him to tell him what happened and that I just needed to get back. I was probably running on adrenaline to get back home. Later on, I was in total shock after it sunk in. Had my drivers side window been opened fully, it would have touched me, or worse, taken me. I’m certain of it.
Another account from Phantoms and Monsters tells the story of a witness in Canada, who had at the time spent the evening laughing and talking with friends until the wee hours of the morning. At 4:45 AM he decided it was time to head home, and got into his truck to begin the 45 minute drive back to his place. In between his friend’s town and his own there was reportedly a pitch black forested area that took around 10 minutes to drive through, and after almost hitting a deer on his way in he decided to slow down and take his time getting through this tangle of trees. He would say of the series of bizarre events that would follow:
As I approached the exit of the forest there is a left curve in the road and an adjacent dirt road with a white wooden fence lining it going up a hill to what I would imagine would lead to someones property/home. As I was making the turn I seen something in my headlights (Brights) at the edge of the fence. It was a tall pale milky white creature with a bald head. It’s eyes reflected back. Clothes-less . It’s arms and legs just as white as its bald head. I seen it for a second or two as it made a move to dive behind the fence.
I braked and backed up slowly and pointed my lights at the fence looking for any kind of movement. I was parked on the highway which was abandoned at 5 am. My heart was racing and I didn’t know why. I must have sat there for a minute before I calmed down, didn’t see any movement and decided I better not go and investigate or maybe I’d become a missing person and continued my journey home. So the only description I have of this “thing” is tall, pale, bald, and human like features, but no noticeable hair or eyebrows.
Such entities leave us wondering just what any of these people could have possibly seen. Are these ghosts, aliens, demons, or just the products of addled, tired minds? There are numerous encounters that cover a wide spectrum of such pale, humanoid beings, and as I have said I have covered such reports before, so are these related and what could we be dealing with here? Considering the very unearthly undertones of such reports, one might be inclined to think that this must surely be aliens. After all, how could something so innately bizarre as these pale, crouched monsters be anything of this world? One possible explanation for the pure outlandishness of these stories is that they are some sort of inter-dimensional entities or trickster spirits, that for whatever reasons find themselves here for unfathomable purposes and agendas. It was an idea championed by such esteemed paranormal researchers as Jacques Vallee and John Keel, and Keel himself would once say of such bizarre beings that seem to defy any conventional classification:
One basic fact should be obvious from the foregoing – these entities and things are not necessarily from some other planet. They are actually closely tied to the human race, are a part of our immediate environment in some unfathomable fashion, and to a very large extent are primarily concerned with misleading us, misinforming us, and playing games with us.
Is that what this is? Are there entities from beyond the fringe of the odd that are paying us a visit to taunt and manipulate us to inscrutable ends? How else can we explain these totally otherworldly reports and their crouched, pale denizens of our nightmares? How else can we possibly fit any of these accounts into our reality? Unless, of course, they are just pure fabrications? It is difficult to say what the case may be, as these are eyewitness accounts beyond the scope of out ability to verify or corroborate, but if they are in any sense real, then they leave a lot to question, and flitter about out in the domain of the truly strange.
I have a lot of fun searching for structures in NASA, ESA and JAXA photos. I feel a real high every time I discover a new alien structure. The more clear and focused the structure, the bigger the high. Who needs drugs when you got such an amazing reality all around you? No-one can hide the truth 100%...and here is the proof of that. I have discovered a long black structure in a crater on planet Mercury. This structure is non reflective black...stealth black probably so it wont reflect radar and so it wont stand out.
You see, even aliens have enemies...they are not hiding the structures from humanity, they are hiding them from other alien species that may target them. Yes...even advanced alien species have problems with one another. Call it cultural or racial discrimination, but its there. They are not perfect, and many have not conquered their own desires yet...having not learned how to control many of their emotions.
The Dark World Of Secret Projects And Strange Experiments
Anyone in UFO or conspiracy circles will be aware of an ever-growing tide of secret projects and disturbing experiments connected to apparently unanswerable sections of the world’s intelligence services. And what’s more, for the most part, these experiments take place on the population without their knowledge. At least those are some of the theories. And for a large proportion of them, there is growing evidence of their grim reality.
Many of these, worryingly or not, revolves around the MKUltra programs, mind control, and low-frequency programming and psycho electronic weapons. And while these notions sound bizarre and bordering on lunacy to many people, they are genuine operations, taking place in the shadows of the world’s governments. How far they go, and to what level control occurs is surely the real question.
In fact, it is perhaps the experiments and secret research into such notions as mind control that should worry us the most. As we have asked before, in this ultra-covert environment, how do we truly know our thoughts are our own? Before we move on to some of these secret operations, check out the short video below. It features just five such experiments performed in secret.
Bluebird And Artichoke – Initial Mind Control Programs
The immediate forerunner to the MKUltra mind control programs, not counting the research undertaken by scientists under the Third Reich in the early-1940s, were Projects Bluebird and Artichoke respectively. These were essentially the same project under a different name, likely for extra security reasons. By the time they morphed into MKUltra they were largely “black budget programs” of varying natures. We have written before of the work of Jose Delgado who looked to stimulate certain parts of the brain as an alternative to lobotomies. We also mentioned that his work was likely “hijacked” and used for purposes not intended by him.
It would appear at least some of those methods would morph into these initial mind control projects. Beginning in 1950, many of the experiments were on young children, some as young as eleven-years-old. Electrodes would often insert directly into the brain. Their behavior was then subject to influence and control through remote transmitters. These children were often “prepared” for these dark experiments by the daily administering of LSD. These dosings would continue for several months at a time and had been happening since the children were seven or eight years of age. On several occasions, and to ensure secrecy, the children were those of high-ranking military officers.
The intelligence services (the CIA in this case) would often utilize the services of prostitutes in order to expand their experiments. They would have them give LSD to their unknowing clients. The CIA would then apprehend these clients and begin a program of memory wiping by use of electric shock treatment. How many, if any, of these unfortunate citizens went on to carry out activities against their will is very much open for debate.
Influencing “Dream States” And Remote Viewing
At some time in 1977, Project Dreamscan went into operation, and while much more futuristic in nature, was really a natural progression from the mind control experiments of the fifties and sixties. As you might imagine there is very little on record about it. However, it would seem to use people with the ability to remote view or leave one’s body at will. These individuals would then “enter the target’s mind in a dream state”. It is not clear if “the target” is mentally incapacitated in some way, or whether this intrusion in to someone’s subconscious takes place regardless of the person’s mental state.
The use of remote viewing, however, is certainly one that the CIA have spent considerable time and research on. This would suggest more than a passing interest in the phenomenon. Perhaps the most outspoken of those who claim to have been employed by intelligence agencies in such a way is Ingo Swann. He would have involvement in several remote viewing projects which would include seeing “bases on the moon”, as well as venturing out as far Jupiter in 1973. What is interesting about the experiment, and indeed Swann’s authenticity was his claim that the gas giant contained a ring around it. This was unknown at the time and confirmation would come by the Pioneer 10 probe shortly after.
Another apparent remote viewing experiment came to light in February 2017. This appeared to show a remote viewer, under coordinates given to them by the CIA, witnessing an intelligent civilization on Mars over a million years ago. What’s more, it would appear this civilization escaped their ruined planet and came to Earth. This session also suggests the ability to traverse time when leaving one’s body – at least on this occasion.
Project Stargate
It was largely throughout the 1970s during the Cold War that remote viewing was at its peak in terms of importance to the intelligence agencies. Many remote viewers received orders to key on targets behind the Iron Curtain. Whether it was disinformation or not, the reasons the US intelligence agencies had a sudden interest in remote viewing came from information that the Soviet Union engaged in such intelligence gathering programs.
The US intelligence services would call this “psychotronic research” and would, it would seem, treat it very seriously. Although intelligence services were more than skeptical of the notion of remote viewing, their information of the Soviets’ increased spending on the subject convinced them they had made some kind of “breakthrough” – which maybe they had. The US intelligence remote viewing projects (such as those with Ingo Swann) went under various names. Collectively, however, they were known as Project Stargate.
It wasn’t purely for spying and information that the projects went ahead, though. While some remote viewers would dedicate their efforts to keeping an out-of-body-eye on the activities of the Soviets, others would perform research on how to “develop-and-train” people to remote view. Essentially, they were looking at ways to weaponize it, and prepare those who could remote view for “psychic warfare”. By the early-1980s, using the talents of Swann and fellow remote viewer, Harold Puthoff, a system was in place that would “allow anyone to be trained to produce accurate, detailed target data”.
Some reports state that the US government would “loan out” their remote viewers on occasion to other regimes. However, by the mid-1990s, the program would cease operations, allegedly due to a sudden drop off in accurate results. Some, though, believe this allowed the project to operate under the protection of black budgets.
Weaponized Side-Effects
Project Rainbow appears to be another secret program that intelligence agencies looked to turn into a weapon off the back of completely different intentions. It was originally designed to influence the weather and, according to some researchers, ran from 1948 to 1968. However, quite unintentionally, was the realization that side-effects from the program could work in mind control experiments.
Perhaps another project that developed from the experimentation of electromagnetic forces used in weather control was The Sleeping Beauty Project. Whether this ever went into action in the field is debatable, but the research certainly took place. The US intelligence services were looking to use “mind-altering electromagnetic weaponry” to achieve “battlefield superiority” by disorientating their enemy. Furthermore, said enemy would likely have no idea what was happening to them, which would only serve to increase the disorientation. And fear.
Another side-effect that underwent significant research in order to weaponize it on the battlefield was the “state of artificial paralysis” alien abductees would report. And perhaps more importantly, how it was “mentally induced”. According to some research, Project Mindwreaker was secretly commissioned in 1987. Its purpose was to “imitate this phenomenon” and turn it into an advanced weapon. Some rumors even state that it is not merely a case of imitating the phenomenon. Some believe it involves the utilization of extraterrestrial technology for their own ends.
The video below looks at black budget projects and how they tie in with the alien and UFO conspiracy.
An Intense Need For Control
Perhaps we should expect, given the apparent tight secrecy around such projects, that very little “solid” evidence exists to back-up a lot of the claims. At least in their entirety. One overriding notion that runs through many of these secretive projects and programs, though, is the desire for control. And what’s more, this control is not just for an enemy. It would appear there is a desire by governments to control their own citizens too.
Such action would suggest that claims of a “world elite” or a “shadow government” are very much on the money. When we remind ourselves of the mysterious death of Frank Olson, those claims become even darker.
Olson was a biochemist who, in 1953, was working on the LSD experiments for the US government. Olson, at least according to his family, opposed the work of the intelligence agencies once he discovered their intentions. The US government had always denied this was the case. According to the official record, Olson, under the influence of LSD, would throw himself from a New York hotel window. However, upon the exhumation of his body almost forty years later as part of a reinvestigation into his death, significant damage would come to light regarding his skull. It appeared as though he was unconscious from a blow to the head and then thrown from the window. Regardless of the medical examiner’s findings, a judge would dismiss the case.
Perhaps we could forget this incident. If it wasn’t for the sudden “accidental death” of one-time CIA director, William Colby. He would drown only days after a subpoena by the courts regarding the death of Frank Olson.

A close view of an ultra-distant fossil is helping to answer questions about the formation of planets throughout the universe.
NASA's New Horizons probe buzzed the outer solar-system object early on New Year's morning, making the first flyby of such a primitive object. Because 2014 MU69 has remained virtually untouched since the birth of the solar system 4.5 billion years ago, it can reveal new details about that era. Already the first puzzling photos are helping to prove models of the early solar system.
New Horizons' first target, Pluto, serves as a gatekeeper to the Kuiper Belt, the band of icy rocks that encircles the solar system. MU69 lies within the most densely populated region of the belt, among other cold classical objects that have not been disturbed since their birth billions of years ago. [New Horizons' Flyby of Ultima Thule: Full Coverage]
"We picked a cold classical object for a very specific region, because that's where the evidence was heading," Alan Stern, the New Horizons principal investigator and a planetary scientist at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in Colorado, told Space.com. Stern said that a mission like New Horizons was the most direct way to get information about the dawn of the solar system.
New Horizons delivered. The newest images released yesterday ( Jan. 2) reveal a snowman-shaped object with two lobes, one roughly three times the size of the other. During a news conference, mission scientists said that the only way for such an object to form was by coming together at very slow speeds — less than 1 mile or kilometer an hour.
"If you collided with another car at those speeds, you may not even bother to fill out the insurance forms," Jeff Moore, New Horizons co-investigator from NASA's Ames Research Center in California, told the crowd.
These slow formation speeds help to validate a recently proposed model of solar system formation known as pebble accretion. Under that model, the gas and dust left over from the formation of the sun slowly comes together as tiny objects, pulled by gravity.
"It's incredibly satisfying to see that confirmed by the data," Stern told Space.com.
"Big physics"

Trying to understand how planets form is a challenge. We can't rewind the process in our own solar system, so scientists peer at the asteroids and Kuiper Belt objects (KBOs) that were left behind after the planets formed. Objects like these probably started out as bits of gas and dust that were pulled together by gravity, in tiny clumps referred to as pebbles. Unlike the pebbles in your driveway, however, the pebbles of the solar system can be as large as giant boulders; the idea is that they are smaller than the planetary embryos known as planetesimals.
Peering into other planetary systems can help scientists understand this period in solar system history some, but not a lot. The cloud of gas and dust that births new worlds also hides them, concealing them in a shroud of material.
So researchers mostly rely on models, computer programs that work to simulate the process of planet formation. By looking at the results of planetary systems, researchers can get an idea of the limits behind their formation.
In 2012, a pair of researchers from Sweden proposed the pebble accretion model, in contrast to contemporary theories suggesting gas and dust gathered together to create kilometer-size objects. The model was imperfect, and in 2015, theorist Harold Levison of SwRI suggested some refinements. The theory described how as the objects grew from centimeter-size pebbles, their gravitational fields would push and pull at one another. The nudges would have knocked some embryos out of the gas and dust, separating them from the material they needed to grow larger, while those that remained in the disk gorged on pebbles to grow into planets.
The most recent images of MU69, which the team has nicknamed Ultima Thule, seem to prove the pebble accretion theory, Levison said. The two small objects on the KBO bumped at slow speeds that suggest a relatively calm period of accretion, when pieces of material are piling onto one another, rather than a fast and dangerous birth. Levison, who is not a member of the New Horizons team, is the principal investigator for an upcoming mission to one of the asteroids around Jupiter.
"The big news is the accretion story," Cathy Olkin, New Horizons' deputy project scientist at SwRI, told Space.com. That picture of how solar system objects formed is supported by the fact that the object's two distinct lobes are joined by a narrow neck rather than a thick, unwieldy one.
The surface features of Kuiper Belt object Ultima Thule (2014 MU69) are coming into focus in these images taken by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft during its historic flyby on Jan. 1, 2019. These images, released Jan. 2, were taken a day earlier from a distance of 18,000 miles (28,000 kilometers) with a scale of 730 feet (140 meters) per pixels. Credit: NASA/Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory/Southwest Research Institute
Pebble accretion might also help explain why MU69 has no apparent satellites, despite the fact that the team anticipated finding large rocks or moons in orbit in the years and months leading up to the flyby.
"It's really astounding that we don't see anything in orbit," Stern said.
According to Levison, if MU69's bilobed shape was formed by pebble accretion, the process would have ejected smaller leftovers that didn't accrete onto the KBO fairly quickly, leaving no satellites for New Horizons to spot.
Of course, it's still possible that newer, better resolved images that will be sent to Earth in the coming days may reveal such satellites.
The preliminary findings, however, seem to make MU69 a smoking gun for pebble accretion, providing an observational match to what was last week only a theory. That find alone has important scientific implications, and the rest of the information New Horizons will unveil over the next two years will surely shed even more light on the process.
"This is big physics, [as if it were] a particle detector and we just now found the Standard Model," Stern said with a large grin, referring to the theory of fundamental particles and how they interact.
"I think we should be nominated as a mission for a Nobel Prize," he said.
HELSINKI, Finland — China's Chang'e-4 spacecraft madethe first ever soft-landing on the far side of the moonWednesday (Jan. 2) in a mission investigating the history of the solar system and paving the way for future exploration.
The 1,200-kilogram dry massChang'e-4 lander touched downat 177.6 degrees east longitude and 45.5 degrees south within Von Kármán crater at 9:26 p.m. Eastern, according to an announcement from the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
The spacecraft began its descent at 9:15 p.m. from a perilune of 15 kilometers with a burn of its single main variable thruster before entering approach, hazard avoidance and slow descent phases, with a descent camera returning images of the approaching surface. [China's Chang'e 4 Moon Far Side Mission in Pictures]
The lander and the companion 140-kilogram rover, which is expected to be deployed within the coming hours, will work toward science goals including analyzing the lunar surface and subsurface composition, assessing the radiation environment and its interaction with the regolith and low frequency radio astronomy, as well as returning high-resolution images from terrain and panoramic cameras.

The 186-kilometer-diameter Von Kármán crater containing the landing site is situated within the 2,500-kilometer-wide South Pole-Aitken (SPA) basin, which is one of the oldest and largest impact craters in the solar system.
The basin could contain exposed material from the moon's upper mantle and promises clues to the history and development of the solar system. A sample return from the SPA basin has been noted as a priority in past U.S. Planetary Science Decadal Surveys.
The mission launched Dec. 8 and had been in lunar orbit since Dec. 12, where it tested communications and refined its orbit in preparation for a landing timed to follow sunrise over the target site, allowing the mainly solar-powered craft to begin operations immediately.

Chang'e-4 is the repurposed backup spacecraft to the Chang'e-3 mission, which landed on Mare Imbrium on the near side in December 2013, making China only the third country to soft-land on the moon.
While the Chang'e-3 rover, on which the Chang'e-4 is based, traveled just 114 meters before being rendered immobile on Mare Imbrium in early 2014, officials with the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), the spacecraft's manufacturer, have stated that the issue has been identified and addressed and that the new rover has been upgraded for greater reliability and longevity.
The landing comes ahead a wave of renewed interest in lunar exploration, with NASA, ESA, Russia, India and private companies working on a range of missions.
The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) also announced Wednesday that it plans to launch the Chang'e-5 near side sample return mission with the second of two planned Long March 5 heavy-lift rocket launches in 2019.
Far side communications and landing challenges

Targeting the far side of the moon, which due to tidal locking never faces the earth, required the prior launch of a relay satellite to the second Earth-moon Lagrange point some 65,000-85,000 kilometers beyond the moon to facilitate communications.
Named Queqiao ('Magpie bridge' from Chinese mythology), the satellite has been in a halo orbit around this gravitationally stable libration point since June, from which has constant line-of-sight with both the terrestrial tracking stations—situated in China, Namibia and Argentina—and the lunar far side.
Apollo 17 Crew member and geologist Harrison Schmitt had recommended the final mission of NASA crewed landing program target the Tsiolkovskiy crater on the far side using a relay satellite, but the suggestion was rejected on grounds of risk and cost.
The more rugged and variable lunar far side topography and near absence of dark, basaltic plains or maria, demanded upgrades to the Chang'e-4 guidance, navigation and control systems, a much smaller landing footprint and more vertical and accurate powered descent than the predecessor mission.
The landing will also assist in the execution of the country's future lunar exploration plans, including sample returns and polar landings in preparation for a potential human outpost.
Ian Crawford, professor of planetary science and astrobiology at Birkbeck, University of London, told SpaceNews ahead of the event that a safe landing would be a "fantastic achievement."
"This will give valuable information on the composition of the far side crust and, conceivably, the upper mantle…The radio astronomy experiments are also of great interest, which may lay a foundation for the development of lunar far side radio astronomy," Crawford said.
Chang'e-4 science goals
Robert F. Wimmer-Schweingruber of the University of Kiel, Germany, which led the development of the Lunar Lander Neutrons and Dosimetry (LND) experiment, told SpaceNews that LND can, "help us understand the radiation which lunar soils and rocks are exposed to and to detect sub-surface water."
China's Chang'e series of lunar probes are part of a series leading up to ultimately returning samples of moon rock to the Earth.
"Its main purpose, however, is to prepare for human exploration of the moon by measuring the radiation to which astronauts will be exposed," says Wimmer-Schweingruber, and specifically the neutron dose rate on the surface of the moon.
LND is one of four international payloads involved in the Chang'e-4 mission, along with the Advanced Small Analyzer for Neutrals (ASAN) from Sweden aboard the rover, the Netherlands-China Low-Frequency Explorer (NCLE) on Queqiao and a small camera on the Longjiang-2 microsatellite.
James Head, a planetary scientist at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, told SpaceNews in December that the Lunar Penetrating Radar (LPR), an instrument also aboard the Chang'e-3 rover, will provide images of the structure of the lunar soil layers and any subsurface lava flow units.
The Visible and Near-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (VNIS), likewise installed on the mobile rover, will allow analysis of the mineralogy of the floor of Von Kármán crater and ejecta delivered by later, nearby impacts, according to Head.
The Low Frequency Spectrometer (LFS) payload on the Chang'e-4 lander will make astronomical observations in low frequency bands in a unique radio-quiet environment free of interference from the earth.
Another payload included in the mission through an outreach initiative is a small biosphere containing Arabidopsis and potato seeds along with silkworm cocoons, designed and developed in collaboration with 28 Chinese universities.
The experiment will be a pioneering test of photosynthesis and respiration in the one-sixth Earth gravity lunar environment, with a possible live steam to the 3-kilogram, 0.8-liter capacity cannister.
Anna-Lisa Paul, space biologist and research at University of Florida-Gainesville, told SpaceNews that the experiment will be unique, despite awealth of experiments that have grown plants and invertebrates in habitats on the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, MIR, Skylab and others.
"We already know that plants, including Arabidopsis and potato, and silkworms do just fine in the microgravity of the spaceflight environments, so a climate-controlled biosphere on the surface of the moon will probably be reasonably benign, yet it is huge from the perspective that it has not been done."

An artist's depiction of NASA's DART mission to nudge an asteroid off course.

Humans are preparing to punch the solar system — but in self-defense, not anger.
It's all part of a NASA mission in development called the Double Asteroid Redirection Test, orDART. Unlike most spacecraft the agency has launched to date, DART isn't about gathering scientific data and learning more about how the universe works. Instead, it's NASA's firstplanetary-defense mission.
"That's one of the big differences, is a lot of the science-driven missions seem to be focused on understanding the past of the solar system, the early solar system, how it all formed," Nancy Chabot, a planetary scientist at Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory and project scientist for DART, told Space.com earlier this month at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. "Planetary defense is really about the present solar system and what are we going to do in the present." [The Greatest Asteroid Encounters of All Time!]
Specifically, planetary defense is about largish asteroids that could theoretically collide with Earth, and what humans could do to protect ourselves. Slam into an asteroid hard enough while it's sufficiently far away from Earth, and you can bump it off course.
But if you've never slammed into an asteroid before, it's difficult to know precisely the best way to do it. And that's where DART comes in. Its target isn't a threat to Earth, but by studying it carefully and then colliding with it, Chabot and the rest of the DART team will create the data humans will need if they ever want to redirect a truly threatening asteroid.
It's a very different type of mission from the other asteroid visits that have drawn headlines this year, such as those of NASA's OSIRIS-REx and Japan's Hayabusa2, which each made strides toward tapping near-Earth asteroids to collect samples to bring home. Scientists hope those samples will help them understand the solar system's earliest days.
This NASA graphic shows how the Double Asteroid Rendezvous Test (DART) will crash into a moonlet of the asteroid Didymos in 2022.

DART's target Didymos was chosen based on very different criteria. It's a binary asteroid, which means DART can slam into the smaller object of the pair. But scientists can gather robust data about the bodies and their locations from Earth, which will help them track where to target the car-size spacecraft as well as how much the collision knocked the object off course.
"It's interesting, because it's a space mission, but the telescopes are such a huge, important part of the mission succeeding," Chabot said. "We have to know where this moon is in order to impact it, to make this maximum deflection. We kind of take for granted that we know where everything is at all times. We understand where the system is as a whole, but specifically where that moon's gonna be [requires tracking] because we want to try to hit it head-on."
These 14 radar images show the near-Earth asteroid Didymos (65803) and its moonlet as seen by the Arecibo Observatory radio telescope in Puerto Rico in November 2003.
Credit: NASA
Then, there's the impact itself, with the spacecraft slamming itself into the space rock at a speed of nearly 13,500 mph (6 kilometers per second). If the mission launches as currently planned in June 2021, that collision will come in October 2022.
And while ground telescopes will track how the tango of Didymos' two parts changes after the impact, scientists may be able to rely on two eyewitnesses as well. [7 Great Movies Featuring Earth-Threatening Asteroids]
The first is a cubesat, called Light Italian Cubesat for Imaging of Asteroids, which the Italian space agency has proposed to send with DART. The second is a European Space Agency mission called Hera, which it is considering launching in time for it to arrive at Didymos in 2026. That spacecraft would be able to study the binary asteroid in more detail and measure the crater DART creates.

Chabot said that so far, people seem excited and on board with the idea of hurling a spacecraft into an asteroid, just in case we ever need to do it for real. But she also said that we can learn only so much from the experiment, and that if an asteroid really does loom, we'll need a heads-up — so continuing to observe and identify asteroids is crucial.
"To do something like this, we'd also need a really long warning time; the idea of a kinetic impactor is definitely not like [the movie] 'Armageddon,' where you go up at the last hour and you know, save the Earth," Chabot said. "This is something that you would do five, 10, 15, 20 years in advance — gently nudge the asteroid so it just sails merrily on its way and doesn't impact the Earth."
It is an incredible glimpse of a trip on the red planet.
A Finnish filmmaker has revealed a stunning three minute video painstakingly made fromNASA images from the red planet.
Jan Fröjdman transformed images from HiRISE, a camera aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, into a video using over 33,000 reference points - and did it without the aid of AI software.
Scroll down for video
The stunning video reveals the incredible landscapes on Mars. This oval mesa is a remnant of a geological unit that once covered this area, similar to the mesas and buttes in Monument Valley, in Arizona and Utah. This is a small remnant of a much larger unit of similar material that caps Ganges Mensa to the west. As can be seen in the sides of this small mesa, this remnant consists of a layered stack of rock. Prior to the massive erosion that left this a high-standing mesa, a more gentle phase of erosion created the small hills and whorls on the upper surface of the mesa.
'There is a feeling that you are flying above Mars looking down watching interesting locations on the planet,' he explained.
'There are really great places on Mars!
'I would love to see images taken by a landscape photographer on Mars, especially from the polar regions.
'But I'm afraid I won't see that kind of images during my lifetime.
The powerful HiRISE camera has snapped 50,000 spectacular, high-resolution stereo images of the Martian terrain from the planet's orbit, creating anaglyphs that anyone can view in 3D using special glasses.
However, Fröjdman decided to improve them by turning them into video.
Instead of using automated softweare, he decided to make the video painstakingly by hand.
'It has really been time-consuming making these panning clips,' he admitted.
'In my 3D-process I have manually hand-picked reference points on the anaglyph image pairs.
'For this film I have chosen more than 33.000 reference points!
'It took me 3 months of calendar time working with the project every now and then.'
Mars has extremely large temperature changes from winter to summer compared to the Earth. It gets cold enough to freeze carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere during the winter, but this ice is unstable when the warmer summer arrives and forces it to sublimate (transform directly back into a gas) away. Near the South pole though, it stays cold enough for some of this seasonal ice to stick around all year and even accumulate from year to year. This image shows a portion of this permanent carbon dioxide ice cap. This slab of ice is a few meters (about 10 feet) thick and is penetrated by the flat-floored pits shown here. The quasi-circular pits in the center of the scene are about 60 meters (200 feet) across. The distinct color of the pit walls may be due to dust mixed into the ice. For most of the year these walls are covered with bright frost, but they defrost and show their true colors at the end of the summer.
The colors in this film are false because the anaglyph images are based on grayscale images.
'I have therefore color graded the clips,' he admits.
'But I have tried to be moderate doing this.
'The light regions in the clips are yellowish and the dark regions bluish.
The clips from the polar regions (the last clips in the film) have a white-blue tone.'
To create the panning 3-D effect, he stitched the images together along his reference points and rendered them as frames in a video.
Finnish filmmaker Jan Fröjdman transformed images imagery into a dynamic, three-dimensional, overhead view of the Red Planet
'There might be software that does this work, but I haven't found it,' Fröjdman told Wired.
The surface of the red planet may be a desolate land with little geological activity now, but it is filled with fascinating bumps and scratches from frozen poles to deep basins, all hinting at a geologically active past.
This complicated area contains various types of channels, pits and fractures. We can determine the relative ages of the pits and channels based on which features cross-cut others. Older channels appear smooth-edged and shallow. Younger channels and pits are deeper and more sharp-edged, as well as less sinuous than the shallower channels.

Earlier this months a team at Nasa has released more than 600 images of Mars, showing a range of gullies, dunes, craters, geological layering and other features.
Each feature teaches us something new about the history of our mysterious neighbour, which used to be covered with oceans, ice sheets and erupting volcanoes.
The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has been circling the red planet, capturing pictures using its High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera, since 2006. Now the team behind the orbiter has published hundreds of new images. Hyblaeus Dorsa, one of the ridges on the planet, is shown

The team behind the orbiter, led by Nasa's Jet Propulsion Lab in Passadena and the University of Arizona, has now published hundreds of new images taken by the instrument.
Among the images are hundreds showing one of its most fascinating features: craters.
There are hundreds of thousands of impact craters on Mars, caused by encounters with other objects such as asteroids, but only some of them have names.
Other craters were formed in different ways, through volcanic activity, for example.
Some of these craters have provided clues to the most fascinating history of the Martian surface.

The surface of Mars is a well worn place in the solar system, heavily pounded by countless meteor impacts. And some of these craters are hundreds of millions of years old. So it's unusual for there to be a completely fresh impact on the surface. A recent impact site is pictured

Mars is now a frozen desert, but geological studies of rocks by previous missions to the surface have suggested the planet used to be warmer and wetter.
The polar caps on the planet spend much of their time, during the pole's winter, in continuous darkness.
When the poles are again exposed to sunlight, the frozen carbon dioxide sublimes into gas, creating enormous winds that sweep off the poles as fast as 250 mph (400 km/h).
The caps at both poles are mainly made of water ice.
Frozen carbon dioxide accumulates as a thin layer about one metre thick on the north cap in the northern winter only, while the south cap has a permanent dry ice cover about 26 feet (8 metres) thick.
Both polar caps have spiral-shaped troughs (pictured), which analysis of ice penetrating radar has shown are a result of spiralling winds.

At one point, Mars was covered with oceans, ice sheets and erupting volcanoes that created the mountains that tower over the planet.
Some of these remain, like Olympus Mons - the largest-known volcano in the solar system, measuring 15 miles (24 km) high.
Olympus Mons, the solar system's biggest volcano, three times higher than Mount Everest, is thought to have had its last major eruption as recently as 25 million years ago.

Billions of years ago Mars might have been home to even larger volcanoes.
Evidence collected by Nasa's Curiosity rover earlier this year showed these ancient volcanoes might have been a lot more powerful than we had thought.
Curiosity's instruments found a substance called tridymite - a kind of crystal that only forms on Earth as a result of extremely hot, silcic volcanoes.
The tridymite was found in the Gale crater, a crater that spans 96 miles (154km) in diameter and holds a mountain rising from the crater floor.
Silicic volcanism is a highly explosive form of volcanic activity, which happens as tectonics plates move from the Earth's outer shell into the Earth's mantle and force water into the molten depths.
The plates melt into magma, which is ejected out into the surface in a powerful eruption.
There has been no evidence found for plate tectonics on Mars so far, so how the silcic volcanism occurred is a mystery.

The discovery could help future exploration missions decide where to look for evidence of Martian life.
'The temperature ranges, presence of liquid water, and nutrient availability, which characterize known habitable environments on Earth, have higher chances of forming on Mars in areas of long-lived water and volcanic processes,' said lead author Alexis Palmero Rodriguez.
Sand dunes are among the most widespread features on Mars, serving as unique indicators of the interaction between the atmosphere and surface.
On a planetary body, dunes accumulate where a supply of sand-sized grains exists or may be abraded, is carried downwind by winds, and is subsequently deposited where these winds weaken below the threshold for sand transport.
Dunes can be preserved in rock over time. This means the deposits can reveal insights into the evolution of Mars' atmosphere from a more hospitable realm to the harsh, dry climate there today.
As a result, the study of dune processes contributes to both atmospheric and sedimentary science.
It might look more like bacteria growin in a petri dish, but this picture actually shows frosty dunes on Mars' surface. Sand dunes (pictured) are among the most widespread features on Mars. Dunes form where a supply of sand-sized grains exists or may be abraded then carried downwind by winds
The surface of Mars is also covered with narrow, deep channels known as gullies.
Martian gullies carved into hill slopes and the walls of impact craters were discovered several years ago.
Exactly how these gullies formed is not fully understood - previous research had suggested the structures were a result of flowing liquid water, because water makes similar structures on Earth.
Polar ice caps were discovered on the planet four decades ago, and erosion patterns on the surface strongly suggest rivers and oceans may have existed there in its early years.
With low gravity and a thin atmosphere, it was thought that this water largely evaporated out into space, instead of falling back down, as it would have done on Earth.
But new research shows water is not behind the Martian gullies, instead suggesting they could be created by carbon dioxide freezing and thawing.
INDIAN SPACE PROBE SNAPS NEW IMAGES OF THE RED PLANET
India's space agency has released a new series of beautiful images, beamed back from its Mars orbiter, revealing our closest planetary neighbour in all its glory
The spotlight surrounding research on Mars is often on the US, European and Russian space agencies.
But while it may be overlooked, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) remains one of only three national space programmes to have reached the red planet to date.
To celebrate its achievements, the space agency has released a new series of beautiful images using data beamed back from its Mars orbiter, revealing our closest planetary neighbour in all its glory.
India's Mars Orbiter Mission, called 'Mangalyaan', reached the red planet in September 2014.
Since then it has been taking measurements, collecting data and capturing images from orbit.
Last month, ISRO released its first full year's data from the orbiter – covering the period up to September 2015 – with its incredible images beamed back in a stream of pixels.
A spacecraft designed to search the atmosphere of Mars for clues of life on the surface of the red planet successfully blasted off in March this year.
The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan aboard a heavy lift Proton rocket on 14 March to begin a seven-month, 300 million-mile (483 million km) journey to the red planet.
It is due to analyse Mars' atmosphere to search for low levels of gases such as methane that may betray the presence of alien life on the planet's surface.
ExoMars 2016 is the first phase of an historic €1.2 billion (£924 million) joint European-Russian mission to search for biochemical 'fingerprints' of past or present life high above Mars and on its surface.
Scientists believe the probe has the potential to find 'very strong evidence' of alien life when it arrives at Mars on 19 October.
Scientists hope to land the ExoMars rover in Oxia Palus, a plain located on the north east of Mars.
However, any new data won't be shared until the end of next year at the earliest, because the probe has to spend a year decelerating so it can graze the atmosphere at a slow enough speed.
In 2018, a robotic probe built by Lockheed Martin for Nasa, the Mars InSight mission, will set off for red planet.
It forms part of wider efforts to glean information about the planet's rich geological past.
Life on Earth as well as extraterrestrial life has always been a matter of curiosity. Various space missions have been carried out so far to study and investigate the secrets of the universe. With the development of science and technology, study of outer space has now reached a different level. Of all these missions, lets get to know the ones where huge amounts of money was used to obtain the desired outcome of the space mission.
Here are the most expensive space projects in history.
10. Mars Curiosity Worth $ 2.5 Billion.

Modern people have recently become reacquainted with the practice of flaying, at least conceptually. That’s due, in no small part, to A Song of Ice and Fire and its television adaptation “Game of Thrones” being the hottest pop-culture phenomenon this side of Tatooine for almost a decade. What all that blood and boiled leather does to a society’s collective psyche is anyone’s guess, but its probably nothing we can’t handle. People have done horrible things to each other for a very long time, and long before Roose Bolton and his flayed man sigil were but a twinkle in George R.R. Martin’s eye, there was a Mesoamerican god called Xipe Totec—”Our Lord the Flayed.” Mexican archaeologists have recently made the first discovery of a temple to Xipe Totec, and reader beware, it ain’t for the faint of heart.
Xipe Totec was a fertility and agriculture god who symbolized the cycle of death and rebirth. He also invented war. The Flayed Lord was depicted as having flayed his own skin as a sacrifice to feed his people, as well as wearing the skins of human sacrifices. Despite the incredibly grim imagery, Xipe Totec wasn’t a villain as far as gods go. Worship of Xipe Totec predates the Aztec civilization, but, like many other gods and religious practices, he was assimilated after Aztec conquest. The recently discovered temple, which archaeologists believe to be the first temple to Xipe Totec ever found, was built by the Popoloca Indians in the central Mexican state of Puebla between A.D. 1000 and 1260.
Statue of Xipe Totec, the Flayed Lord
Inside the temple archaeologists found art depicting the Flayed Lord as well as a few relics of ceremonial practices. These relics include two enormous clay heads with the most terrifying grinning faces ever dug out of the ground and a statue of Xipe Totec depicting him wearing the skin of a human sacrifice. Religious ceremonies devoted to Xipe Totec were conducted by priests who wore the actual skins of human sacrifices, and the two clay heads were used to plug the pits where the flayed skins were kept. Remember, you were warned.
Whether or not the actual flaying was done at this site is a different matter. Speaking to the Associated Press, University of Florida archaeologist Susan Gillespie(who was not involed with the project) said:
“[A] singular temple to this deity (whatever his name in Popoloca) does not necessarily indicate that this was the place of sacrifice. The Aztec practice was to perform the sacrificial death in one or more places, but to ritually store the skins in another, after they had been worn by living humans for some days. So it could be that this is the temple where they were kept, making it all the more sacred.”
Drawing of an Aztec temple.
And all the more disturbing. Regardless of the exactly who flayed who and where, archaeologists say this is a major discovery. The team who made the discovery plan to continue excavating the site and expect to find more depictions of the Flayed Lord. Maybe we’ll be desensitized enough by then to read about it with a full stomach.
Following the launch of rockets, satellites and, eventually, people into outer space, it became commonplace to hear that humankind had entered the “Space Age.” While true, the innocence of our early space explorations seems to pale compared to what we are achieving today: remotely-operated probes are now reporting back to us with images of objects further from Earth than we once might have dreamed, and the further we push the boundaries of space with our explorations, the smaller our little world seems to feel.
Such innovation has fueled the aspirations of those like Elon Musk, who remains among a vocal contingent of technologists and futurists who aspire to reach the stars. For people like Musk, colonizing other worlds may not just be an eventuality for humankind, with our desire for the exploration of other worlds; our survival may even depend on it.
Others aren’t so convinced. One vocal opponent of this “other worlds, or else” mentality has been science popularizer Bill Nye, who argues that not only is the prospect of colonizing planets like Mars in the near future unrealistic, but it may be impossible.
“This whole idea of terraforming Mars, as respectful as I can be, are you guys high?” Nye told USA Today late last year. “People disagree with me on this, and the reason they disagree is because they’re wrong.”
However, while Mars seems a bit far off, perhaps there are nearer orbital bodies in space that might qualify. With news of China’s recent exploration of the Moon’s far side with its Chang’e-4 probe, some are now asking whether a moon base could be in our future.
Following the big announcement about the Chang’e-4 Lunar Lander, LA Times reports that “Chinese scientists have already declared China’s ambitions to establish a manned moon base andto send nuclear-powered rockets into space in future decades to colonize and exploit space.”
China’s intentions, according to a previous statement to the media, is now to “set the rules of the game in outer space,” establishing a new precedent for space exploration, and perhaps an all-new meaning behind the idea of the “space age.”
They’re wasting no time, either. Subsisting on a steady diet of carrots, potatoes, and yes, mealworms (for protein) along with other high-energy vegetables, a group of eight volunteers concluded a year-long experiment in bio-regenerative living at the astronautics facilities at Beihang University in May. The study, which also became a record-breaking experiment in sustained living in an enclosed system (recycling food, air, water… everything, essentially) was aimed at innovating long-term occupation in a lunar environment.
The Chinese aren’t the only ones making plans for moon bases and long-term lunar occupation. Last year, NASA announced its own plans for a moon base, which will serve not only as a base for future lunar studies but as a stopover for future space travelers on their way to Mars.
NASA is building a plan for Americans to orbit the Moon starting in 2023, and land astronauts on the surface no later than the late 2020s. This will be the first chance for the majority of people alive today to witness a Moon landing – a moment when, in awe and wonder, the world holds its breath. However, America will not stop there.
A key component of establishing the first permanent American presence and infrastructure on and around the Moon is the Gateway, a lunar orbiting platform to host astronauts farther from Earth than ever before.
On the Gateway, America and its partners will prepare to transit deep space, testing new technologies and systems as we build the infrastructure to support missions to the surface of the Moon and prepare for the epochal mission to Mars.
With both China and the U.S. expressing renewed aspirations for lunar bases, it seems we’re looking at more than just a new kind of 21st century “Space Age”: we’re in the midst of an all-new space race, too, and have been for a while, it seems (although the moon base idea isn’t really anything new, as these documents declassified in 2014 show).
“By the late 2020s,” NASA’s press release from Sept. 26, 2018 reports, “a lunar lander capable of transporting crews and cargo will begin trips to the surface of the Moon.”
“The sustainable, long-term lunar surface activities enabled by these efforts, in tandem with the Gateway, will expand and diversify over time, taking advantage of the Moon and near space for scientific exploration in the broadest sense.”
Broad indeed… and no longer just “to the moon and back.” Try, to the moon, and beyond!
The plane passenger on board of the commercial airliner 'Flying Swoop Airlines' flying from Hamilton to Abbotsford on November 30, 2018 was about halfway through he flight when he spotted a huge cigar-shaped object in the distance.
He states that the window was facing north, so we are looking at the Arctic, Nunavut, and Alberta.
The passenger was able to film the UFO that seems to be parked at high altitude.
This is the incredible moment an object flew across New Zealand and lit up the sky, as experts claim it's a meteorite.
Residents scattered across the country's North Island reported sightings of bright lights zooming through the sky at 9pm.
Many were unsure whether the falling object was a piece of space junk re-entering the earth's atmosphere, or a possible meteorite.
Many were unsure whether the falling object was a piece of space junk re-entering the earth's atmosphere, or a possible meteorite
President of the Auckland Astronomical Society Bill Thomas told the NZ Herald he found it more likely the object was a meteorite.
'There's a visible sort of tail, whereas a satellite [is] like a point of light moving across the sky ... bright [meteorites] like that one as not that common in the one place, but they're common worldwide.'
New Zealand Police posted an alert saying they're aware of the meteor: 'Rest assured, we have confirmed with our Paranormal Division, and it is nothing to be concerned about.'
People around the country managed to catch a glimpse of the mysterious object, with many managing to capture it on camera.
Graham Billings was enjoying dinner at an Italian restaurant when he saw the light fly across the sky.
'It was definitely a meteor. I wondered what it was for a bit but we can still see the smoke trail,' Mr Billings said.
In Whangamata, Jen Maloney and her friends saw the object light up the sky twice, once at 8.55pm and another one 15 minutes later.

Ms Maloney described the light show as green, beautiful and dramatic, leaving a 'singe' smell afterwords.
One couple were in Auckland discussing the dangers of the use of drones when they looked up to the sky and thought they spotted one.
What May and Brian Seager actually saw was the meteorite whizzing through the sky above them.
'It was a bright light and then it went green and left like a vapour trail. It was going way too fast [to be a drone] and it looked like it broke up into two pieces afterwards.'
More than 400 kilometres south, Steve Bloor saw a dazzling display in Napier.
Mr Bloor said when he saw the object - that he first believed to be a jet plane - it exploded into millions of pieces, like fireworks.

How special are we? A recent research paper suggests that terrestrial-style biology may be rare, and Earth may be among the first examples of a planet able to sustain life in the cosmos. Even as the new kids on the block, humans are seemingly one of the precious few instances of intelligence to arise in the universe since the Big Bang did its thing.
Harvard Astronomer Avi Loeb and his colleagues in the U.K. have argued that the halcyon days for life are still to come. It’s not even morning in the universe; it’s pre-dawn. Biology may erupt like weeds on an untold number of worlds, but if so, the infestation will take place tens of billions of years in the future.
Why’s that? And what’s wrong with life sprouting up today?
Obviously nothing. After all, you’re reading this — you, the distant descendant of a small collection of molecules that stumbled on a method for building nearly exact replicas of itself nearly four billion years ago. No scientist is yet sure if this molecular sleight-of-hand is just some sort of highly unlikely event, although opinions abound.
The new argument that primetime for an inhabited universe is still to come springs from astronomy, not biology. Loeb et al.’s proposition begins with the belief that life requires a few essential ingredients: a world that’s amenable to easy chemistry, including liquid water, thick atmosphere — you know the drill. As best we can tell, there’s no shortage of such Goldilocks orbs — there may be tens of billions of Earth-like planets in our galaxy, and that’s not even counting habitable moons.
An abundance of real estate is essential for this growth, yes. But so is time. Rustling up life, especially of the intelligent variety, might take billions of years.
The argument is straightforward: The longer you wait, the more examples of biology you’ll have. But stars like our Sun can’t wait too long: there’s a relatively short opportunity to strut and fret. In 10 billion years, they’ve run through their easily accessible fuel, and are headed out the door.

But consider red dwarf stars, the runts of the universe. Their masses are considerably less than Sol’s, which means they burn more slowly. The consequence? Red dwarfs with one-tenth the mass of the Sun have lifespans that are up to a thousand times longer.
All else being equal, that would give red dwarfs a thousand times the probability of eventually using its energy to host a world with life. Clearly, it’s most probable that this life would arise not when these stars are still young — which they all are now — but instead during their long adulthood. In other words, the red dwarfs are just getting started, and their biologically fecund years are still ahead.
And here’s an additional fillip: Red dwarfs are as plentiful as bad drivers, comprising three-fourths of all stars. So not only are they individually a thousand times more likely to become winners in the biology lottery, there are a lot more of them buying tickets.
Loeb argues that, looking back on creation ten trillion years from now when the curtain is falling on the universe-as-we-know-it, you’d have to say that the overwhelming majority of life arose around red dwarf stars – and on average, trillions of years after Earth was over and done.

So among inhabited planets it sounds as if Earth beat the rush. From the standpoint of future cosmic civilizations, we are the ancient aliens.
But is that so remarkable? Maybe not. Consider being a citizen of Rome during its Empire. There were about 200 million people in the world then. If you were particularly insightful, it might occur to you that the future human population could be much greater — indeed, there's now 35 times as many people as strolled the world at the time of Jesus.
So that would make Romans special, right? There was a far greater probability that they’d be born after the Renaissance then in the time of the Caesars.
However, while interesting, that’s not to say the Romans were by any means the first humans or even the first to be somewhat civilized. There were 10,000 generations of Homo sapiens before them, and neither they nor the Romans would appreciate being dismissed by the claim that “the best was yet to come.”
The galactic hordes may still be ahead, but that’s little reason to wait before trying to find some cosmic company. Are you willing to wait 500 billion years before learning whether anyone’s out there? That's more patience than I have.

Mystery event that saw mountain crash into river 'may have been UFO attack'
A MYSTERIOUS “blitzkrieg” which led to the side of a mountain crashing into a Siberian river was either a UFO attack or a giant meteorite strike, according to a majority of Russians.
The claims about the incident – known as the Bureya Bliztkrieg – come amid a new report which said a “reliable” witness saw a “huge green-coloured body with a very long tail” streaking vertically downwards in the night sky on December 15.
Hunters who first reached the scene - alerted by a sudden and inexplicable change in the flow of the river - reported ‘hot rocks’ on which they could warm their hands
The bizarre event, which took place last month, is under Russian scientific scrutiny after the water flow into a hydro-electric power reservoir was cut due to a massive landfall, creating a 525ft mound which was visible from space rising from the bed of Bureya River in the far east of Russia.
Describing the event one witness said: “It was if as if the mountain had moved.”
BIZARRE: Some people think the incident was a UFO attack (Pic: The Siberian Times)
STRANGE: Satellite image of the Bureya river site - Other people thought it was a meteorite (Pic: The Siberian Times)
Now a poll of the strange event in the Khabarovsk region revealed that a many people thought it was an attack from space.
A total of 27% or people polled said it was a meteorite and 33% thought it was a UFO attack.
The remaining 40% claimed the Bureya Blitzkrieg was caused by a giant landslide.
People who first reached the site of the incident reported hot rocks which they could warm their hands on and a smell “like hydrogen sulphide” and thought the rock fall was caused by a meteorite similar to one which devastated Russia’s Chelyabinsk region 2013.
“I insist it was a meteorite,” said the district government chief of the remote part of the Khabarovsk region where the accident took place, Alex Maslov.

New footage and pictures of the bizarre phenomenon show trees being uprooted or yanked apart with trunks thrown as far as 100ft and large blocks of ice thrown from the river onto the land.
Reports also say an “invisible force” made it seem as if the chunks of ice had flown onto the land.
Alexey Dyundin, 46, a local businessman, was driving through the neighbouring Yakutia region when he witnessed the event which he took to be a meteor strike.
He said: “We saw a huge green-coloured body with a spectacularly bright and very long tail, falling almost vertically at about an 80 degrees angle.
“We saw it right in front of us, falling east to south. It all happened within three or four seconds.”
MYSTERIOUS: One witness said 'it was if the mountain had moved' (Pic: The Siberian Times)
The businessman said he thought the fall was too fast to be a rocket from a space launch coming back to earth- something he had previously seen.
He added: “It was definitely not a rocket stage. They fall much more slowly and they do have a glow when they fall.
“But nothing like the bright green glow we saw. The green glow comes when meteorites contain a lot of iron.
“Our first reaction was, well, hard to publish.
‘“We were so stunned we just exclaimed 'What the **** was that?’ at each other.”
Dyundin said he only realised how significant the sighting was a week later when he saw reports of the Bureya River rockfall.
But data from the European satellite Sentinel suggests the changing face of the river happened between December 9 and December 12- The Siberian Times revealed.
The report said this does not discount the meteorite attack as responsible for the incidents but means that a “space object” as witnessed by Dyundin.
Tourists are now starting to visit the scene of the carnage according to local reports.

What were the mysterious 'Ravana Rocks' In Sigiriya used for?
According to the Ancient local folk stories .i heard, the palace was defended by various lines of defense mechanisms. Among those defense mechanisms, reflectors take a special place. These reflectors were used to reflect sun rays to the enemy.
According to the folk stories, if someone tried to look directly at the palace they had a chance of ending up blind. The palace even has a wall situated near the main rock named as the "Kedapath Pawura" which stands for "the mirror wall".
So I highly anticipate theses reflectors were a line of defense mechanism to protect the mighty king Rawana's Palace
A New Study Suggests There Could Have Been Intelligent Life on Earth Before Humans
Looking for aliens across deep space is great, but have we looked hard enough in our own terrestrial backyard—here on Earth?
The artist Surian Soosay offers a playful depiction of 'the Silurian Hypothesis'
One author of the new study, leading climatologist Gavin Schmidt, wrote a work of fiction to explore its findings. Read 'Under the Sun', which we published at Terraform alongside the following piece.
The human yearning to connect with other intelligent life-forms runs deep, and it has become the driving force behind a dazzling range of scientific pursuits. From the SETI Institute’s radio sweeps of the sky, to the discovery of liquid water on neighboring worlds, to the thousands of exoplanets detected over the past two decades, there have been major gains in chasing one of the ultimate cosmic mysteries—whether or not we are alone in the universe.
But in our rush to search for life by peering into deep space, have we overlooked the merits of looking for it in deep time? Earth is the only planet that we’re absolutely certain can support a technologically advanced species, yet little thought has been lent to the possibility that during its 4.5 billion year lifespan, our own world might have produced more than one industrialized civilization.
Outside of some science fiction stories and a speculative paper by Penn State astronomer Jason Wright, little serious thought has been afforded to the possibility that we humans are not the first species to build an advanced civilization in the solar system’s history.
“It actually hasn’t been explored that much,” climatologist Gavin Schmidt, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, told me over the phone. “It never gets brought up as a potential thing that you want to look for.”
Published this month in the International Journal of Astrobiology, the work outlines what kind of signature a technologically adept species might leave behind. Schmidt and Frank use the projected footprint of the Anthropocene, the current era in which human activity is influencing planetary processes like climate and biodiversity, as a guide for what we might expect from other civilizations.
“There’s lots of things that are going well for [human civilization], but there’s a big price that’s being paid in the ecology and biology,” Schmidt told me. He emphasized that many of these consequences can seem to be “out of sight, out of mind” due to conveniences like sewage infrastructure and garbage relocation. But when considered in totality, anthropogenic activities really add up, and impact the geological record. “All of the waste and footprint is being hidden from us, but it isn’t hidden from the planet,” he said.
It’s unlikely that any massive telltale structures would remain preserved through tens of millions of years of geological activity—that holds true for both human civilization and any potential “Silurian” precursors on Earth.
Instead, Schmidt and Frank propose searching for more subtle signals, such as byproducts of fossil fuel consumption, mass extinction events, plastic pollution, synthetic materials, disrupted sedimentation from agricultural development or deforestation, and radioactive isotopes potentially caused by nuclear detonations.
“You really have to dive into a lot of different fields and pull together exactly what you might see,” Schmidt said. “It involves chemistry, sedimentology, geology, and all these other things. It’s really fascinating.”
In his spare time, Schmidt also wrote a short story called “Under the Sun,” which Motherboard is publishing alongside this article in Terraform, and which dramatizes some of its key ideas. The story follows Stella, an environmental scientist who stumbles on evidence of past intelligent life in sediments from dating from the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM). This warming period occurred approximately 55 million years ago, when “something triggered a massive shift in the global carbon cycle” and “all the environmental indicators went haywire.”
Stella’s fascination with the PETM reflects Schmidt’s own ruminations about this mysterious period of climate change, when average global temperatures were about 8°C Celsius higher than they are today. Some 15 years ago, he was discussing the geological impact of the PETM with colleagues, when he realized it would be somewhat analogous to the predicted aftermath of the Anthropocene.
In “Under the Sun,” that connection between the PETM and the Anthropocene is made explicit—it’s the nuclear fingerprint that gives Stella and her colleagues their Eureka moment. Despite the thrill of this discovery, the story hints at the ominous consequences of detecting radioactive fallout from a past society, even as nuclear sabre-rattling continues unchecked in human civilization.
In this way, Schmidt’s paper and his short story both relate the Silurian hypothesis to the Drake equation, which is a probabilistic approach to estimating the number of intelligent civilizations in the Milky Way, developed by astronomer Frank Drake.
One of the equation’s key variables is the length of time that civilizations are capable of transmitting detectable signals. A proposed reason that we have not achieved contact with an alien species is that this “length of time” variable may be extremely short—either because technologically advanced civilizations self-destruct, or because they learn to live sustainably on their home worlds.
“It might be the detectable period of a civilization is much shorter than its actual longevity, because you can’t last a long time doing the kinds of stuff that we’ve been doing,” Schmidt explained. “You either stop, because you’ve messed it all up, or you learn not to do it. Either way, the burst of activity, wastefulness, and massive footprints is actually a very short amount of time.”
“Maybe it’s happened a billion times in the universe,” he added, “but if it only lasted 200 years every time, then you’d never see it.”
The same logic holds for any previous civilizations that may have flourished on Earth, only to either collapse in ruin or scale down on activities that threaten their lifespan. There are definitely some not-so-subtle lessons that humans can take from this forked path which is, after all, an industrial version of the age-old evolutionary mantra—adapt or die.
That, for Schmidt and Frank, is one of the core themes of the Silurian hypothesis. If we can mull over the possibility that we are not the first Earthlings to have produced a technologically advanced civilization, perhaps we can better appreciate the precariousness of our current situation.
“Our thinking about our place in the universe has been this progressive distancing of ourselves from the study,” Schmidt told me, citing outdated beliefs like the geocentric model of the universe. “It’s like a stepwise retreat from a total self-centered view, and [the Silurian hypothesis] is really just one extra way of doing that.”
“We do need to be objective and open to all sorts of possibilities,” he added, “if we’re going to be able to see what the universe actually has to offer us.”
SHOCK as world-renowned scientist says humans are on the brink of making ALIEN CONTACT
HUMANS are on the brink of contacting alien life, with one of the most respected physicists in the world “sticking his neck out” and predicting it could be within this century, it has been revealed.
Michio Kaku thinks humans will detect aliens before 2100
American theoretical physicist, futurist, and populariser of science, Michio Kaku, thinks humans will detect aliens before 2100 by listening to radio communications, but he does not know if we will be able to talk back to them.
Speaking on an “ask me anything” question and answer session on social media platform Reddit, the futurist answered a Redditor who asked, "Dr Kaku, if we make contact with alien civilisations, then what? And how will we talk to them?"
Dr Kaku replied: “Let me stick my neck out.
“I personally feel that within this century, we will make contact with an alien civilisation, by listening in on their radio communications.
“But talking to them will be difficult, since they could be tens of light years away.
“So, in the meantime, we must decipher their language to understand their level of technology. Are they Type I, II, or III???
“And what are their intentions? Are they expansive and aggressive, or peaceful?”
Types of civilisations represent the three categories in the “Kardashev scale”.
The scale measures a civilisation’s technological advancement based on the amount of energy they are able to use for communication.
Humans are not yet a Type I civilisation because they have not reached a stage of being able to use every ounce of energy on their home planet - which includes solar, thermal, oceanic and more.
Mr Kaku added: "Another possibility is that they land on the White House lawn and announce their existence.
"But I think that is unlikely since we would be like forest animals to them, i.e. not worth communicating with."
Dr Kaku is not the first renowned scientist to predict that humanity will make contact with alien life.
Stephen Hawking recently said that he is "more convinced than ever that we are not alone" and added that humanity should stop reaching out to aliens before it is too late.

He added: "One day we might receive a signal from a planet like Gliese 832c, but we should be wary of answering back.
"Meeting an advanced civilisation could be like Native Americans encountering Columbus.
“That didn't turn out so well.”
Dr Hawking is involved in the Breakthrough Listen project, which will scan planets around the nearest million stars for signs of life within radio signals.

Stephen Hawking recently said that he is 'more convinced than ever that we are not alone'
Senior astronomer at the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute, Seth Shostak, has placed a wager that we will find signs of alien life within 20 years.
According to the Drake equation, based on the sheer volume of stars in space it is highly unlikely that we are the only life in the universe.
Scientists are currently focussed on radio waves, which Shostak, Hawking, and Kaku all predict will be where alien contact will come through.
Radiowaves stand out from the naturally occurring background noise in the Universe, which typically extends across a much wider frequency range.

After China’s Chang’e 4 probe landed on the dark side of the moon, many people focused on the pictures of its rover roving off to search for grass, lunatics and paperboys. However, back on the lander, an experiment got underway that involves both life existing on the moon and growing food to sustain it. Three guesses as to what kind of food it will grow … Matt Damon, you need to recuse yourself on this one.
“The container will send potatoes, arabidopsis seeds and silkworm eggs to the surface of the Moon. The eggs will hatch into silkworms, which can produce carbon dioxide, while the potatoes and seeds emit oxygen through photosynthesis. Together, they can establish a simple ecosystem on the Moon.”
People’s Daily Online described what Zhang Yuanxun, chief designer of the container, put inside it before sending the package to the moon. While the term “dark side” has been replaced somewhat by “far side,” most people still don’t know that the remote non-Earth-facing side of the moon gets sunlight in quantities that are more than enough to grow potatoes and flowers. (Arabidopsis is a flowering plant related to mustard and cabbage – is this a Chinese experiment or an Irish dinner?) The main challenge for the seeds and worms will be heat, so the mini biosphere is insulated and has a battery-operated heat generator and light pipes.
Silkworms
The experiment was developed by students at Chongqing University and 28 other universities in China who will be anxiously awaiting the results. Will they have to wait until the next manned flight to find out?
“The biosphere package also contains water, air and nutrients, which will hopefully allow the seeds and eggs to briefly flourish in their protective capsule on the lunar surface. A tiny camera and data transmission system will allow researchers to see when and if the seeds blossom.”
Get the pan ready … I found ’em!
The key word there is “briefly.” Just how long will those worms be eating the plants while generating fertilizer and carbon dioxide to stimulate more growth? Will there be enough potatoes to feed Matt Damon? Enough silkworms to all him to weave clothing? Hardly. The container is only 18 cm (5 inches) long. Will that be enough of both to prove to moon residents that there’s life on Earth? Better yet, will they be alive long enough for China to call it a “colony” and lay claim to owning the far side of the moon? The official statement of China’s Communist Party, quoted by the Washington Post, says no.
“Unlike mankind’s mania in the past, the Chinese people ultimately harbor the dream of shared human destiny and practices open cooperation. We choose to go to the back of the moon not because of the unique glory it brings, but because this difficult step of destiny is also a forward step for human civilization!”
Will the world accept that?
Will the lunar silkworms? Will they tire of potatoes and cabbage and send the probe back to Earth for Chinese takeout?
Super Wolf Blood Moon Harbinger Prophecy January 21 2019
Many people stick to predictions, but do we believe predictions or is it just the uncertainty what the future will bring that people are starting to believe in predictions?
There are many self-proclaimed prophets but there are a few who have indeed made correct predictions, like Edgar Cayes and the blind woman Baba Vanga.
Known as the 'Nostradamus of the Balkans,' Baba Vanga passed away in 1996 at age 85, but more than two decades later her recorded prophecies continue to stir the imagination.
Said to have accurately foreseen such events as 9/11 and the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia, a news report informs that her predictions for 2019 include:
A new devastating tsunami in Asia A giant meteorite hitting Russia An economic collapse for the European Union An assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin A baffling illness for Donald Trump occurring in the forthcoming year.
The year begins with January's full moon which is set to be very special indeed as four lunar spectacles combine to give the night sky a red hue.
Could it be that the first full blood moon which starts on Jan. 20-21 is a harbinger for the things to come this year?
The following video provides more information about the wolf blood moon including the expectations for 2019.
Giant UFO Seen In Night Vision Over Netherlands, Dec 2018, Video, UFO Sighting News.
Date of sighting: Summer of 2018, but uploaded Dec 2018. Location of sighting: Groenio, Netherlands A person was recording with a 3rd generation night vision scope when he noticed a strange cloud. The cloud is rectangle in shape and has four sharp ninety degree corners. He mistakenly identifies it as a partial chem trail, but that is highly unlikely due to the immense size and shape of this object. Night vision scopes see in infrared and any cloaked craft would become visible using this scope. If you remember past military infrared video tracking of UFOs, then you know this to be true already. That my friends, is a UFO. Scott C. Waring Eyewitness states:
In July of this year during sky watching I noticed a single cloud in the night sky ...maybe nothing special but it was a little strange because there were no other clouds except that one...I guess a Chemtrail ..... decide for yourself 😁👍....and in December I tested my Bushnell Equinox during a meteor shower.
Imagine this...you are responsible for landing the Mars Spirit rover on the planet. You succeed and drive the Spirit rover out onto the Mars surface. After getting about 50 meters you notice that you can see your wheel marks in a long trail behind you...so you do what first pops into your head, draw a giant penis! Now we know what the Mars rover driver was thinking about during his/her mission. He or she was thinking about some penis. Its the first Mars art ever made by humans. Its also the first Mars porn made by humans. I wonder if NASA will try to preserve this site so that all humanity can remember this great achievement for thousands of years to come?
I also found many there ancient artefacts from faces to strange structures.
NASA put these photos in FAULSE color, which is a deep brown/red. So I put them back into natural normal color, which is a click of a button on my photo program. I prefer the real colors over the fake. What you see here on my site is the real color. Click the link to see the dark false color.
Kid In India Records Glowing UFO Over City,Dec 28, 2018, Video, UFO Sighting News
Date of sighting: Dec 28, 2018 Location of sighting: India This possible UFO was seen on Dec 28, 2018 during a overcast night in India. When the smog of the city blocks out the sky at night, no stars can be seen during such a time. So this rules out stars. The object does not have red or blue flashing lights...which most drones have. Also the object is holding position, trying to confuse the eyewitnesses by appearing like a star. Remember what I told you in other posts, aliens are prize themselves on being more intelligent than humanity. They literally believe they can fly as close as they want and not get caught...but with todays cheap video cameras and cell phone cameras...humanity is proving them wrong. Also, someone should download this video, I estimate that there is a 90% chance the person will panic within a week when people say its a UFO and will take down the video. It happened a lot over the years. This looks to be just a kid and kids worry a lot about posting the wrong kind of videos getting the wrong kind of attention. Scott C. Waring
UFO Glowing And Pulsating Over The Black Sea, Bulgaria On Jan 4, 2019, Video, UFO Sighting News.
Date of sighting: January 4, 2019
Location of sighting: Black Sea, Burgas, Bulgaria
This is one of the most irritating UFOs seen around the world. The UFO hovers over neighbourhoods and appears like a star, but is clearly very close, within half a mile away from the eyewitnesses most the time.
I myself was eyewitness to such a UFO one evening over my apartments and recorded it, just 24 hours after the same UFO was seen on TV news in parts of China. The video I uploaded has since disappeared...I'm searching, but strangely enough...its just gone from my channel??? Very odd, will continue searching for it.
What I am saying is that aliens are highly skilled in the art of trickery and deception. They are required by their laws to not interrupt in our way of life or change how things will go in the future, so instead they try to play mind games with eyewitnesses by having their UFOs fly within a few hundred meters of the ground and make clouds around it to hide the craft, or they will fly low over a neighbourhood trying to move very slowly to look like a star, but is clearly too big and too bright to be a star and too small to be the moon. Aliens are extremely intelligent, and they take too much pride in that fact. But in some areas we are better at...like creativity, passion and empathy.

When browsing through Google Sky, one conspiracy theorists believes he spotted a mega-alien base. Google Sky is a free map programme from the search giants which allows users to browse the stars. However, one user got more than they bargained for when they discovered what they believe is an alien base.
Among the stars at the coordinates 03 57 08.63, -07 11 26.2 appeared a massive blue object.
One alien hunter was keen to point out that this is “100 percent proof” of the existence of aliens.
It is also evidence that extraterrestrials are super advanced and have the ability to colonise the entire universe.
Writing on his blog UFO Sightings Daily, prominent conspiracy theorist Scott C Waring said: “Google Earth map is famous for many UFO and alien base discoveries over the years.
Alien PROOF? Huge ‘ET BASE’ discovered using Google Sky (circled)
(Image: UFO SIGHTINGS DAILY)
“However a lesser known feature of the free map program is that it allows you to see the stars in the sky. When you search using the star map, some strange objects will be found.
“This Giant Blue alien base is visible on Google sky map and its dimensions and size indicate that its bigger than Earth and its geometric pattern is not possible for that size in nature.
“This is an artificially created object of immense size.
“This is 100 percent proof that aliens not only exist in the universe, but are so advanced that the size of their ships are more enormous than anyone ever thought possible.”
“This is 100 percent proof of aliens"
(Image: UFO SIGHTINGS DAILY)
This is not the first time an ‘alien base’ has been found using one of Google’s programmes.
In September, 2018, conspiracy theorists were sent into a frenzy when a massive structure was spotted on the moon using Google’s search tool Google Moon.
In a video uploaded to YouTube by Argentinian Marcelo Irazusta, the man-made-looking structure seems to be an anomaly on the surface on the moon.
The supposed Moon Base
(Image: GOOGLE MOON)
A description from Mr Irazusta alongside the video reads: “A strange elevation of hundreds of meters in the middle of a plain of the Moon is a mystery that must be revealed.
“Everything seems to indicate that it could be a non-natural structure. It is really awesome.”
However, sceptics and NASA say the pyramid and other similar findings are just the effects of pareidolia – a psychological phenomenon when the brain tricks the eyes into seeing familiar objects or shapes in patterns or textures such as a rock surface.
Aliens are coming to Belgium as UFO sightings soar in 2018
Brussels, which hosts the main institutions of the EU and the Nato HQ, has seen a spike in UFO sightings. Stock picture

UFO sightings over Belgium surged last year with the public reporting higher numbers of possible alien spaceships than in 2017.
Belgium recorded 255 reports of UFOs in 2018, an increase on the 171 witnessed the previous year.
Sightings were up across the whole country, with increases in Wallonia, Flanders and Brussels.
The mayor of the leafy Brussels suburb of Wezembeek-Oppem made news last summer when he claimed to have spotted a UFO.
Belgium has regularly punched above its weight when it comes to UFO sightings. Even in 2017, a relatively fallow year, it outscored Norway, Finland and Denmark and recorded only a handful fewer sightings than its much larger neighbour France.
Patrick Ferryn, president of Cobeps, the Francophone Belgian committee for the study of space phenomena, said: "We don't know why the numbers have increased. It was a hot summer and it may be simply that when the weather is good and the skies are clear, people look at the skies more often."
UFO sightings over the supposedly boring country of Belgium surged last year with astonished Belgians reporting higher numbers of possible alien spaceships than in 2017.
Belgium recorded 255 reports of UFOs in 2018, an increase on the 171 witnessed in 2017. Sightings were up across the whole country, peaking in October, with increases in the French-speaking region of Wallonia, Dutch-speaking Flanders and Brussels.
179 sightings were reported in more prosperous Flanders, compared to 76 in more rural Wallonia. Brussels is the country’s third federal region and the mayor of the leafy suburb of Wezembeek-Oppem made news last summer when he claimed to have spotted a UFO.
Belgian UFO investigators told the Telegraph that the 2018 figures were a return to the form shown over the last five years.
Despite being smaller than Switzerland, Belgium has regularly punched above its weight when it comes to UFO sightings. Even in 2017, a relatively fallow year, it outscored Norway, Finland and Denmark and recorded only a handful fewer sightings than its much larger neighbour France.
From November 1989 to April 1990, Belgian UFO spotters enjoyed their golden age. The Belgian UFO Wave involved multiple reports of triangular shaped craft in Belgian skies over an extended period, including one which was chased by F-16 fighter jets.
Patrick Ferryn, president of Cobeps, the francophone Belgian committee for the study of space phenomena, said, “You must know that most of these sightings will have the most banal explanation but there is a residue, which we simply can’t explain. And of those, there may be two or three where we may have questions over where they came from."
“We don’t know why the numbers have increased this year. It was a hot summer and it may be simply that when the weather is good and the skies are clear, people look at the skies more often,” he added.
Out of the 76 sightings in Wallonia, 14 were explained, 12 "probably explained" and 28 were impossible to evaluate because there was too little information. There were “reasonable doubts” about eight sightings, although the witness accounts lacked important information.
14 were still under investigation by Cobeps, which last reported an inexplicable UFO sighting in 2015, when there were 317 sightings across the country.
In 2018 the majority of sighting were explained away as being planes, balloons, meteors and satellites. The culpable satellite normally turned out to be the International Space Station.
Between 2010 and 2016, more than half of Belgian UFOs turned out to be Chinese lanterns, a decorative candle powered hot air balloon.
“Surprisingly drones have still not had an impact,” said Mr Ferryn, “Ever since the first drones went on the shelves we have been waiting to be submerged with reports of a galactic invasion of drones – but it still has not happened.”
Mr Ferryn said there was simply no comparison with the famous Belgian UFO Wave, which has been dismissed by some as a mass delusion. There is no video or photographic evidence of the craft despite the many sightings.
“This is definitely not a new wave of the Belgian wave of UFOs,” he said, “Then the quantity of sightings was higher, more frequent and concentrated on one region of Belgium and all the descriptions were similar rather than the very different descriptions of last year.”
China’s Chang’e-4 spacecraft set down last night, according to clocks in the Americas. It’s a historic event, the first time a spacecraft has landed on the side of the moon we cannot see.
The Chinese Chang’e-4 moon lander touched down in the Von Kármán crater on the moon’s far side. No, the far side of the moon does not always stay dark. In fact, Chang’e-4 mission controllers waited for sunrise over this region to set the lander down.

More space history this week, besides thesmallest space objectever orbited, and themost distantobject yet visited. Last night, according to clocks in the Americas – January 3, 2019, at 02:26UTC(10:26 a.m. Beijing time; January 2 at 10:26 p.m. on the U.S. East Coast) – China’s Chang’e-4 spacecraft successfully landed on the moon’s far side.
Chinese state media announced the event. The spacecraft landed in Von Kármán crater, located on the lunar far side within the South Pole-Aitken basin. Jason Davis at the Planetary Society wrote:
Chang’e-4 itself launched on December 8, 2018. It entered lunar orbit four days later, where mission controllers spent 22 days testing the spacecraft’s systems, waiting for the sun to rise at the landing site. [On January 2-3, 2019] Chang’e-4 successfully de-orbited and landed.
Scientists say Chang’e-4’s landing site is an area where an ancient impact by space debris pounded the moon long ago, possibly exposing some of the lunar mantle, the layer beneath its crust. So it’s an interesting region geologically. Chinese scientists hope to learn more about the early history of our moon (and by extension the Earth and rest of the solar system) by studying this region via Chang’e-4.
The spacecraft is a combination lander-rover. At this writing, there’s no word that the rover has been deployed, but that’s expected soon. Stay tuned!
The Chinese Chang’e Moon lander touched down in the Von Karman crater in the large South Pole-Aitken Basin on the lunar farside, an area that just had sunrise and is starting a two-week-long lunar day.
#ChangE4's rover may descend around 1030 UT (Jan 3) but it's bedtime now... good night folks. It has been a fun day, commenting an American mission (#MU69flyby) on Chinese social media and then tweeting a Chinese mission here.
Chang’e-4 mission profile. since the far side of the moon never faces Earth, missions there require a relay satellite. To solve that problem, China launched the Queqiao relay satellite in May 2018. The Queqiao relay satellite also brought along two SmallSats named Longjiang-1 and 2 bound for lunar orbit. Only Longjiang-2 was successful.
Bottom line: China’s Chang’e-4 spacecraft set down on the moon’s far side on January 3, 2019, at 02:26 UTC. It’s the first time a spacecraft has landed on the far side of the moon.
In 1953, Ottawa Journal readers were urged to be on the lookout for flying saucers, after Wilbert Smith's Project Magnet was given space and equipment to operate out of Shirley's Bay.
One fine summer evening in 1953, with Bank Street bustling as thousands of ball fans headed to Lansdowne Park to watch a game, Wilbert B. Smith, a senior radio engineer with the Department of Transport, and his research team released a weather balloon over the area. Not just any weather balloon, this one was covered with aluminum to make it disk-shaped, while fastened to its centre was a large aircraft flare timed to ignite when the balloon reached 5,000 feet, or 1,524 metres.
The silver object rose slowly in the air and, at 5,000 feet, glowed brilliantly for 15 seconds as its flare ignited. What Smith and his team, dubbed Project Magnet, expected to happen next was a deluge of phone calls from panicked and concerned citizens about the unidentified flying object they’d just seen. It was 1953, after all, with the post-Second-World-War Cold War in high gear and UFOs and their possible extraterrestrial origins frequently in the news. What they got, though, was nothing, or, rather, the conclusion that people just don’t watch the sky all that much: not one person called to report the strange object. This, however, hardly deterred Smith and his colleagues.
Project Magnet was formed in December 1950 on the authorization of Commander C.P. Edwards, then Deputy Minister of Transport for Air Service, with the aim of investigating UFO claims in Canada. It ran separately but in conjunction with a multi-department effort coordinated by the Defence Research Board, named Project Second Storey, to investigate reports of UFO sightings. According to Smith, Project Magnet was never officially sanctioned and no government funding was provided; he had simply requested some space and surplus equipment at a Transport Station at Shirley’s Bay, with which to collect research in his own spare time. Project Magnet’s primary goal was to study how the Earth’s magnetic field could be harnessed as a propulsion system for vehicles, a technology Smith believed extraterrestrials used.
At the time, 50 per cent of Canadians believed “that these mysterious disks are not just imagination and that they are not just a natural phenomenon,” according to a poll conducted by the Canadian Institute of Public Opinion.
“So many reliable people are among the witnesses,” noted the Fort William Times-Journal, “it is no longer possible to ignore entirely the possibilities that some aerial survey of the earth is being taken by personalities from some other part of the universe.”

Reports of UFOs in Canada stretch back to 1792, when explorer David Thompson reported a bright blob flying overhead in northern Manitoba. In February 1915, the lights of Parliament Hill, Rideau Hall and the Royal Mint were extinguished after reports of unknown lights crossing the St. Lawrence River and headed for Ottawa reached Prime Minister Robert Borden. Thought to possibly be an aerial attack, the sighting were later blamed on fireworks-laden balloons released in Morristown, N.Y. to celebrate a century of peace.
Smith, who in 1955 became one of City View’s three inaugural trustees, was himself an ardent believer in aliens. In a speech delivered to the Vancouver Area UFO Club in 1961, a year before his death, he claimed to have communicated with extraterrestrials, whom he at least occasionally referred to as “the boys topside.” An engineer, he was particularly interested in such technical matters as how their spacecraft was built and how they were propelled. He claims they explained to him how the speed of light is not constant, and that time was not the measured chronological ticking we imagine, but a “field function” that changed throughout the universe, and which could be altered. Their ships, he was told, were supported on the Earth’s gravitational field. The fields surrounding their ships, he added, created areas that reduced areas that weakened the strength of objects that came into contact with them, accounting for the destruction of earthly military craft that flew too close to them. This explained, among other phenomenon, the May 1956 crash of a military jet into the Villa St. Louis convent in Orleans — the jet, Smith said, flew into a “very strong vortex of reduced binding,” causing it to break apart.
“I wrote a very stiff memorandum to the appropriate people in my own department pointing out some of these facts,” he wrote. But his letter, he maintained, “wound up on the crank file.”
Similar unstable vortices, he added, were created when nuclear explosions occurred. An unnamed friend of his who had also been in contact with “these people from outside” claimed to have spoken with one, Tyla, a garbage collector whose job it was to clean up the radioactive messes created by such man-made explosions. Tyla, Smith said, gathered the material, took it aboard his ship where it was rendered inert, and then dumped it in some secluded spot on Earth. In 1948, Tyla reportedly told his friend that he would dump his next load near Ottawa, and that he would pick an opportune time so many people could witness it. According to Smith, it took place on Remembrance Day that year: “We looked up to the north-west of Ottawa and there was Tyla’s little craft, an egg-shaped affair in the sky, and coming out of the tail-end of it was what looked like an almost dissipated portion of a jet trail that was dropping down.”
By summarizing sightings reported in 1952, Smith reported that UFOs were “a hundred feet or more in diameter; they can travel at speeds of several thousand miles per hour; they can reach altitudes well above those which should support conventional aircraft or balloons; and ample power and force seem to be available for all required maneuvers.”
The sightings, he noted, occurred at approximately six-week intervals, and most frequently when Earth and Mars were nearest to one another. In his 1952 report, he wrote: “We are forced to the conclusion that the vehicles are probably extraterrestrial, in spite of our prejudices to the contrary.”
The Project Second Storey committee, of which Smith was a member, developed a weighted 28-question questionnaire for those who reported seeing UFOs, to try to determine the likelihood that what they thought they saw actually happened. The conclusion, according to Smith, was that there was a 91-per-cent chance that reported sightings involved real objects, and a 60-per-cent chance that those objects were extraterrestrial vehicles.
On Aug. 8, 1954, Smith and his team at Shirley’s Bay recorded a disturbance they believed was caused by a UFO. Among the telling signs were Morse code transmissions too rapid for a trained operator to decipher.
Only days later, Project Magnet was disbanded. “Scientists,” wrote the Ottawa Journal, “say there is no proof flying saucers exist but they honorably admit there is no proof that all the strange and wandering objects reported in the sky are freaks of imagination or atmosphere.”
It was, Smith explained in a 1957 Weekend Magazine article on UFOs, all a matter of perspective: “If a stock promoter told you that there was a 60-per-cent probability that a certain stock would go up, I don’t think you’d invest with him. But if the weatherman told you there was a 60-per-cent probability that a hurricane was going to hit your area, I think you’d hurry up and bring in the lawn furniture.”
In 2017, there were approximately 1,100 UFO sightings reported in Canada, including 31 in the Ottawa area. The truth remains out there, somewhere.
This cartoon ran in the Ottawa Journal in April 1961, accompanying an article about Wilbert Smith’s interest in flying saucers and alien technology. It depicts then-prime minister John Diefenbaker surrounded by saucers outside the Parliament Buildings.
On Earth, oxygen is a signature byproduct of life. But what if astronomers found oxygen in the atmosphere of a planet orbiting a distant sun? Would that prove life exists there? Not necessarily, says a new study.
Much of the oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere is produced by tiny marine organisms, such as phytoplankton.
Most people know that oxygen is vital to earthly life. Humans and other animals breathe it. Green algae, marine bacteria and Earth’s abundance of plants produce it. About 20 percent of Earth’s atmosphere is currently composed of oxygen, and that fact has led to oxygen’s role inastrobiologyas a signature of life. In other words, if astronomers discovered oxygen in the atmosphere of another rocky planet like Earth, orbiting a distant star, they’d likely consider that oxygen a strong signal of possible life on that planet. But now a new study casts doubt on that conclusion. It shows that oxygen can be generated in the absence of life as well … originating, if you will, from an alien imposter.
The newpeer-reviewedfindings wereannouncedby Johns Hopkins University andpublishedin the December 11, 2018 issue of ACS Earth and Space Chemistry.
Basically, researchers were able to create both oxygen and organic compounds in simulations of exoplanet atmospheres, without the involvement of life. The experiments were conducted in the lab of Sarah Hörst, an assistant professor of Earth and planetary sciences and the co-author of the new paper. Using the Planetary HAZE (PHAZER) chamber, they tested nine different mixtures of gases thought to exist in the atmospheres of super-Earth and mini-Neptune exoplanets – worlds that are larger than Earth but smaller than Neptune. Each mixture was composed of gases such as carbon dioxide, water, ammonia and methane, and heated to temperatures ranging from about 80 to 700 degrees Fahrenheit.
A simulated CO2-rich planetary atmosphere being exposed to a plasma discharge in Sarah Hörst’s lab. Image via Chao He.
Each mixture was exposed to two different kinds of energy – plasma and UV light – that can trigger chemical reactions in planetary atmospheres. Plasma – stronger than UV light – can simulate electrical activities like lightning and/or energetic particles, while UV light creates chemical reactions in planetary atmospheres such as those on Earth, Saturn and Pluto.
The experiments were allowed to run for three days, about the same amount of time that they would be exposed to plasma or UV light from space, with the resulting gases then being measured by a mass spectrometer – which is used to identify the amount and type of chemicals present in a physical sample.
So what did the researchers find?
The simulated conditions produced both organic molecules and oxygen that could build sugars and amino acids such as formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide – the raw materials from which ice could start. According to Chao He, an assistant research scientist at Johns Hopkins:
People used to suggest that oxygen and organics being present together indicates life, but we produced them abiotically in multiple simulations. This suggests that even the co-presence of commonly accepted biosignatures could be a false positive for life.
Artist’s concept of the super-Earth exoplanet Gliese 667 Cb. In this three-star system, the host star is a companion to two other low-mass stars, seen here in the distance. If oxygen is found in the atmosphere of a planet like this, it may – or may not – be evidence of life.
The results are certainly interesting, showing that oxygen could indeed be produced without the involvement of any kind of life, but at the same time indicates that the building blocks of life – from which life could arise – are also easily produced. That itself is exciting, since it supports the idea that life could begin in many different environments where conditions are favorable.
In 2015, a different study by Norio Narita and colleagues found another process that can also produce oxygen, involving titanium oxide – an oxidized metal which catalyzes the splitting up of water into oxygen and hydrogen when a planetary surface is exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Even as little as 0.05 percent titanium oxide making up surface materials on an exoplanet could produce oxygen levels similar to that in Earth’s atmosphere. That study can be found here.
Bottom line: Discovering oxygen in the atmosphere of super-Earth or Earth-sized exoplanet would be exciting – and possibly evidence for life – but this new research shows that even then, the results should be looked at very carefully – as a cautionary tale. The oxygen may indeed come from living organisms, as on Earth, but it may also be a case of an alien imposter.
Damn impressive Footage from China's 'Jade Rabbit' on Zee Moon!
Very cool footage from the freshlly landed Chinese robotic exploration of the Moon..
Is it made of green cheese>? Does the cheese taste good? Can you grow potatoes in the cheese? All these of these questions and more the Chinese hope to answer...
SoooOOOooo... All you NASA Naysayers.... Lemme guess... Chinese hasn't landed anything on the Moon right?
Many peoples experiences who have reported their abductions, have reported seeing beings on board space ships that weren’t quite human but not alien as well. These ‘hybrids’ as experiencers and Urologist’s have called, appear to have physical characteristics of human and alien.
Hybrids have become a popular feature in modern Ufology. Some female experiencers have made the claim that they were abducted, impregnated and forced to carry as near to term as possible before the aliens return to take the fetus to live among the stars so the tabloid joke, “The aliens stole my baby” may not be too far from the truth.
When considering a theory that borders on the ridiculous, we once again run into the question of why again. Why are aliens impregnating women and then taking their babies. Some theorists believe one of two things. 1, the aliens are actually us from a far off distant future where mankind has evolved past procreation and they need to keep the species going. The second, which is somewhat similar to the first, is that these aliens can no longer have children and after scouring the galaxy for beings who share key genetic markers they discovered that humans were compatible with their own DNA. But is there any proof to back up this rather outlandish story? Allow me introduce you to Antonio Villas Boas, Brazilian farmer and intergalactic ladies’ man.
On the night of October 16, 1957, Brazilian farmer, Antonio Villas Boas was out ploughing the fields of his family’s farm. The day was far too hot and doing this work at night gave him some time to think.
As Antonio was working he became aware of a strange light in the sky. As he watched the light descended from the sky. At first, Antonio didn’t give it much thought until the light landed in the field. When the hatch opened and several strange beings stepped out Antonio, now terrified, decided to make a run for it. Unfortunately Antonio never made his escape.
After Antonio was taken aboard, he was stripped of his clothes and tossed into an all-white room. Just then, a door opened and a strangely beautiful woman entered the room and gestured for the young farmer to come to her. Antonio claims that he and the alien woman had sex.
When the love was over, Antonio reported that she put her hand on her belky, and gestured with her hand towards the ceiling implying the child would be raised among the stars. Villas Boas was then placed back in the field where he was working and watched as the spacecraft flew off into the distance.
Antonio’s story is rare. Those who claimed to have mothered or fathered a hybrid claim that the sperm or egg is extracted and arterially inseminated. It’s incredibly rare that actual sexual activity was involved. Many sceptics, of course, cast doubt on Boas’ story just because it was far too outlandish. However, Antonio, who became a successful attorney and husband and father, maintained his story until the day he died.
The “Gundiah Mackay Abduction” is a very controversial case in ufology. The witness and abductee reports tell of an extraordinary event that happened on Friday, October 5th, 2001. The witness and abductee accounts of the reported abduction scream of one of the top abduction cases, with a mix of theWalton Abduction, X-Files-like story line, whisperings of a “Scientology mission”, physical evidence, and one hell of a in-depth and terrifying story.
But was it a hoax? Some, including the local police agency who spent many man hours investigating the case, which for a short time became a missing persons case similar to the Walton Incident, think so. But what really happened that Friday evening? So far there has not been any conclusive evidence to prove one way or the other what really happened, although the police investigation does present some interesting evidence and theory.
The purpose of this thread is to explore both sides of this extraordinary story and present it in such a manner that the readers can decide for themselves what really happened. If this case is indeed a hoax it is still important to learn from such things, so those interested in ufology can truly understand all the aspects of the field, including complex and well thought out hoaxes. If this case is true however, then this is an unbelievable account of alien abduction. One that thoroughly deserves much more research, as this if true, could add a much needed piece of evidence to ufology in my opinion.
Friday, October 5th, 2001
Actually beginning in the late hours of Thursday, the 4th of October the following report is based upon the witness reports of what was reported to be an extraordinary alien abduction incident that began around 11:00 PM local time. First off, here are the three witnesses to the reported incident, as well other relevant information:
Witnesses
Amy Rylance: 22 years old, the alleged victim of the abduction.
Keith Rylance: 39 years old, husband of Amy.
Petra Heller: 35 years old, business partner of couple.
Location
The location of this incident was at Gundiah property, near Tiaro, in Queensland, Australia. The property was being developed as a winery to be called Whispering Winds. The following is a map of the area
Close Up
Extended View
The investigating crew on this case were Bill Chalker and Diane Harrison ofAUFORN.
The Incident
Keith states that he had gone to sleep in the caravan bedroom around 9:00PM. Petra stated that she went to into her bedroom in the residences annex. Amy stated that she had stayed on the couch watching TV in the “lounge room”. The investigators report that these locations were close to each other, only separated by a window and a wall. Both Keith and Petra's rooms had a door that was connected to the lounge room where Amy was reportedly watching television. The reported abductee, Amy, reportedly fell asleep on the couch watching TV.
At around 11:15PM, Petra states she woke up and walked into the lounge area where Amy was supposed to be asleep. What she reports she saw is phenomenal to say the least:
A rectangular beam of light was being projected through the open window of the caravan lounge room. This light beam appeared to be truncated at the end. Inside the beam Petra claims to have seen Amy in a sleep prone position, being carried out head first through the window. Underneath her, also within the beam were the items that had been on the coffee table adjacent to the couch Amy had been on. Before apparently fainting in shock Petra saw that the beam was coming from a disc shaped UFO hovering just above the ground a short distance away, near a tree at the rear of the clear section, immediately behind the annex caravan house.
Apparently Petra quickly regained consciousness and began screaming, which in turn awoke Keith. Keith states that when he entered the room he encountered a terrified Petra and the entire contents of the coffee table strewn on the floor. He also stated that the window screen in the lounge room was torn in “both a vertical fashion and along the the bottom of the window frame.” Keith then stated he rushed outside in an attempt to find Amy.
After talking to Petra and reluctantly believing the story she told him, Keith decided to call the police after his wife was reportedly no where to be found. About and hour and a half later the police arrived at the scene. The officers were Senior Constable Robert Maragna of Tiaro and an officer from Maryborough, According to the reports, the police thought they might have been dealing with a situation of foul play, maybe even a murder.
With the two witnesses remaining steadfast on the events that lead to the disappearance of Amy by a “spaceship” the case was quickly becoming phenomenal. The two officers were later joined by Sgt John Bosnjak, which was the officer in charge of the Tiaro police force, who was awoken from sleep to join the investigation. As the scene of the incident was analyzed for evidence a plant outside the window was discovered to have apparent heat damage, oddly another bush to the right of this plant was not affected. The police took samples of the affected bush for further testing.
While the police where at the property a phone call was received by Keith, it was a women calling from Mackay who stated she found a distressed and dehydrated women form a local BP gas station on the northern outskirts of the central Queensland city of Mackay, which is about 790 kilometers(490.883 miles ) to the north of of Gundiah, which is where the reported abduction took place! The women told Keith that Amy (which was the women she encountered) was fine and in the Mackay hospital.
What Happened to Amy?
Amy signed a notarized police statement at the hospital in Mackay, which under law held her legally accountable for everything she said in the statement. She stated that last remembered lying on the couch she sated she did not remember anything that Petra stated. She then went on to claim that she woke up lying on a bench in a strange rectangular shaped room. It is interesting to note that she states the illumination came from the “walls and ceiling”, this is interesting because it is commonly reported that ETs use some sort of electromagnetic energy source, which does not utilize “lights” as we understand it. It is reported that the illumination comes from the material that makes up the rooms themselves. This has been reported in many abductions, as well as the illumination technology used in the rumored Dulce Base.
Amy stated that she was alone when she awoke. She then states she “called out” and heard what she describes as “what seemed to be a male voice asking her to be calm and that everything would be alright and that she would not be harmed.” She went on to describe that “soon an opening appeared in the wall and a 'guy' about 6 feet tall walked into the room.”
The man appeared to be slender in build but in perfect proportion, covered head to foot in a full body suit. He had what seemed to be a black covering mask on his face, with a hole for his eyes, nose and mouth. He repeated his calming assurances. Amy felt she had been there a while. The guy told her they were returning her to a place not far from where they took her from, because the lights were wrong at the property and it wasn't safe. She then indicates she found herself lying on the bed and falling asleep.
She stated the next thing she recalled was waking up on the ground with trees around her and smelling the ocean, but feeling disoriented. She made her way through the bushland for what seemed like a long time before finally coming to a road and seeing the gas station where she was found at. When she walked into the station the staff, seeing that she was not in a good state and covered in mud offered her assistance.
At the BP station Amy drank some water, stating that she felt dehydrated. It is reported that initially she could not answer simple identifying questions and did not know where she was. The staff at the gas station asked her if she had been drinking or on any kind of drugs, which she denied. Amy stated she felt sore, lethargic, tired, and drained. She then asked a women at the station to take her to the hospital The women and her friend took her to the Mackay hospital. Later at the hospital Amy contacted her husband and spoke with two police officers. After being released from the hospital Amy went to the Mackay police station, where she gave the notarized statement of events, which is where the majority of this account comes from, as well investigator interviews.
It is interesting to note that Amy claimed she was gone for days, and strangely enough the hospital confirmed that she had excess hair that had not been shaven in a couple days, as well no signs of eating anything for at least two days.
Amy stated this has never happen to her before, but she did see a large UFO surrounded by several smaller objects when she was in 5th grade. The Mackay police set up a motel room for Amy to stay at while she awaited the arrival of her husband, Keith. When Keith and Petra arrived in Mackay they state they spent a large amount of time discussing the incident with Amy.
The Ufology Investigation
Extensive notes were apparently made and photographs were taken of a triangular arrangement of marks on her inner right thigh, marks on each heel and the growing out of her hair which she had dyed earlier in the week. Her hair had apparently started to show her former color, suggestive that some considerable time had passed for her, apparently indicative of rather more than a few hours. Body hair had allegedly also become somewhat more pronounced that would otherwise would be apparent for the short time involved.
Via an Newsagent's a copy of the Australian Ufologist magazine was purchased, Keith, Petra and Amy started to learn more about UFOs. Keith Rylance contacted the Australian UFO Research Network office number mentioned in the magazine. Diane Harrison took the call Date: Fri, 5 Oct 2001 15:20 p.m and for the next hour or so listened to the story that Keith and Amy told. Petra was apparently sleeping at the time.
Given the nature of the story, its complexity and the fact it apparently featured the alleged use of "solid light", Diane decide to bring Bill Chalker into the investigation, making contact with him during the evening of Friday, October 5th. Paradoxically Bill was scheduled to talk at a Brisbane UFO conference on October 13th, and his topics included "solid light" cases and the application of science to alien abduction cases. Bill put a call through to them at the motel, securing permission to record the conversation.
Petra was not available to discuss the events she had witnessed, but investigators Bill Chalker and Diane Harrison were able to have a detailed discussion with Keith and Amy over the phone. The initial ufologist investigation focused on what Petra and Keith experienced, as well Amy's account of what happened to her, particularly the events that happened before and after the actual onboard experience.
I must personally say that it appears the ufologists were doing exceptional in their investigative approach at this point. They were using correct tactics in attempting to judge Amy's physical and mental state, as well her general responses in what I assume was to check for any inconsistencies or evidence of lying, or any signs of her having a misinformed memory of events. There was also a good timeline built by asking about the events prior and after the reported abduction, which is also useful to spot any possibly inconsistencies and to get a more lucid understanding of events.
Amy's husband, Keith had a strong desire to contact the media about this incident, as he believed it was important to “get his story out, as it would come out anyway and this way he could control the way it did.” One thing that I find somewhat suspicious is the way Keith apparently tried to restrict the way the investigators looked into their experience. He claimed that the investigators did not need to prove the event, I would assume this is because he seemed to believe everything Amy said even though he did not directly experience the events himself. While some may think this is expected, since Amy was his wife, it does raise some investigative questions none-the-less:
1.)Why was Keith not concerned with the investigators proving his wife’s story? 2.)While Keith was apparently not concerned with proving Amys story he still wanted to go public with her account. One would think you would want to have at least some type of evidence to back such an extraordinary claim. 3.)Why was Keith concerned about controlling the course of the investigation? This does not look good, as it could imply he (they) had something to hide that could be exposed during the course of an investigation. 4.)Why was Keith apparently so concerned about getting this story out to the media?
Now while all those investigative questions could be attributed to the emotional stress of being involved I such an extraordinary event and being the husband of the victim they are still aspects that need to be looked at. Now let's continue with the incident report:
Given the possible nature of the event, and that irrespective of the ultimate resolution of the affair, it seemed destined to be a big story, Diane and Bill decided to undertake an investigation. They had been given an indication from Keith Rylance that the three would wait for the investigators to come to Mackay. The claimants were in no apparent hurry to return to Gundiah. They gave permission for Bill and Diane to visit the property on the way. Bill arrived in the Brisbane area on Tuesday afternoon, October 9th.
Diane and Bill then traveled to Gundiah, arriving at the Whispering Winds winery property, just after 10 pm. Because of the lateness of the hour, we got the witnesses permission to stay there overnight and to conduct whatever investigation we needed to do. Keith had arranged for a neighbor to regularly check on the two pets left behind, namely a parrot and a kelpie dog. He indicated to us that it would be okay to let the dog off for a run, but warned us it was very friendly but inclined to jump all over people.
We let the dog off at some point and observed its behavior At one point it did jump up on the window where the damaged screen was located.
When the investigators noticed how active the dog was they began to wonder if the dogmay have been responsible for some or all of the damage to the window screen. They state that some of the damage appeared suggestive of possible dog damage. The investigators also noted that the plant damage could also possibly be explained by prosaic causes, in this case heat stress. This possibility was considered because other plants ( one of the same species) around the house and area had similar damage.
It is vital to note that these observations were only suggestive at this point, and I am not aware of any further investigations carried out to confirm or deny this postulate, as more investigation would be required for any certainty. In totality the investigation at the residence raised many more questions, which were not and have not been properly addressed, even eight years later.
The investigations of the ufologists moved on to the service station where Amy made her “re-appearance”. The staff at the gas station were spoken to and a surveillance video that should have showed Amy's visit there was also acquired. According to the investigators this part of the investigation also led to many more questions that need to be answered (isn't this ALWAYS the case in UFO reports?).
At this point the investigation and thus the case gets extremely interesting, but somewhat suspicious. Keith, Amy, and Petra indicated to the investigators they would make themselves available for physical questioning, but when the investigators arrived in Mackay for the interview Keith, Amy, and Petra were no where to be found. It was soon found out that the three had checked out of their third hotel (in 9 days since arriving in Mackay) early that morning.
The investigators state they did not hear from Keith until the next day, where he stated they had to “flee the area and had moved to a unspecified location.” The reason for this move was given by Keith as a result of a “ kind of Men In Black” encounter. Keith stated that their vehicle was pursued by a “high powered, dark brown 4 wheel truck” Keith claimed they lost they lost the truck and moved to the new, undisclosed area.
The investigators state that they did hear from Keith on more time on October 14th, 2001 (10 days after the event). As far as I can find there has been no further developments in this case in regards to Keith, Amy, and Petra. The case is over eight years old now and apparently stagnate. This is also a highly controversial case with the investigating police force believing this a hoax, but without further investigation we are still left in the dark on what happened. This from the investigators report filed on October 14th, 2001:
We remain hopeful that they will get into more direct contact with us.
This affair is both extraordinary and controversial. Many have rushed to judgment, but given it's complex and evolving dynamics, caution and patience is necessary. We have many issues and questions we would like to try to resolve. Further contact with the Rylances and Petra Heller may help this process. The case is far from closed and requires an objective, open-minded investigation. Only time will give us the possibility of resolution and certainty about this intriguing but controversial affair.
As already stated above, the investigating police agency in Mackay, believes that this case was nothing more than a hoax. This conclusion was reached by the odd behavior and reluctance of the witnesses to talk,as well some suspicious evidence.
By November 2001, New Idea had come out with a four page story, with the article reading, “Amy, Keith and Petra then fled Gundiah, and the UFO investigators haven’t been able to complete their research.” By December, Keith Rylance’s contact details, mobile phone and e-mail were no longer functional.
The police also found paper towels, black hair dye, and burnt remains of two flood lights and electrical wiring in a incinerator 60 feet from the annex. Police Sergeant Robert Maragna states they found phone records from a motel in Rockhampton, which is in between Gundiah and Mackay. The calls were made the day before the incident:
The police scenario had Amy already on her way to Mackay via the Rockhampton motel, with the black hair dye being used by Petra later to play the blond Amy. The newspaper also quoted the Tiaro mayor John Horrex, however, who still believed the alien story. In March 2003, civilian investigators were contacted by an overseas source who suggested events had to do with a Scientology mission to find a buried spaceship as described in “Mission Earth”, by Scientology’s founder L. Ron Hubbard. When investigators visited Tiaro police station back in October 2001, they were shown a notebook apparently owned by Petra which the police had removed from the Gundia property. The police were suspicious of some strange content they thought might be connected to the case. Chalker recognized some of its content as being related to Scientology, such the words ‘thetan’ and ‘clearing’. Recall that the Gundia property was called “Whispering Winds” - Hubbard lived out his last years on a remote property in the United States called “Whispering Winds”.
In 2002 the Fraser Coast Chronicle published an article proclaiming the whole incident a hoax:
On October 4-5, 2002, the Fraser Coast Chronicle newspaper published an article asking, “Why did they do it?”, arguing that the affair had been a hoax and highlighted forensic issues that the police had found back in October 2001. The Tiaro police had a clear message: “The police file remains open and Sergeant Robert Maragna would love to talk to Amy, Keith and Petra and give them the bill for the hours of police time that went into investigating the alien abduction.” “There were too many inconsistencies in the story for it to be true,” said Sergeant Maragna.
Unfortunately the Mackay police will not release the nine relevant documents to this case because they contain personal information. So until Keith, Amy, and Petra can be properly interviewed it is hard to see this case going any further. This from AUFORN in 2006:
However, all was not as it seemed. Journalist Kevin Corcoran of the "Fraser Coast Chronicle" newspaper, in an article 12 months after the event wrote: "Mystery still surrounds the trio at the centre of an alleged abduction by aliens of a woman from her Gundiah farm a year ago. Except for a few Brahman heifers, the farm is deserted. It has been unoccupied since English born Keith Rylance, his wife Amy, then 22 and house-mate Petra Heller, left the country after the story of Amy's abduction by aliens broke." The account went on: "Officer in charge of the Tiaro police Acting Sergeant Robert Maragna, who was first at the property after the alleged alien visit, is 99.9% sure that the abduction was nothing more than an elaborate hoax." Given our success with the Federal Freedom of Information (FOI) Act it was decided to use the Queensland FOI Act to try and secure copies of any papers on the above case. To this end, an FOI request was submitted to the Queensland Police Service asking for any documents "held relative to the police investigation of the alleged "abduction" of one Amy Rylance, formerly of Gundiah, Queensland on or about the 4th & 5th October 2001." In a letter of response, the Queensland Police Service replied that "Following receipt of your application, inquiries were conducted at Tiaro Police Station for documents relevant to your request. As a result of those inquiries nine (9) documents were located and a determination made concerning them." The response went on to state: "I have determined today, to exempt from release all documents pursuant to section 44(1) of the Act. I consider the information contained in these documents relates to the "personal affairs" of a person other than yourself and is exempt from release pursuant to section 44(1) of the Act." A retrospective investigation is currently being undertaken into this reported UFO abduction. The Rylances are believed currently to be in the north of England. Any UK reader who might wish to assist in this research is asked to contact the Project.
This is a very controversial case, there is no way to make any type of conclusion on this case at this time in my opinion, due to the lack of witness interview. Although the corroborating evidence in favor of the witness reports is interesting, there is also some suspicious behavior and evidence that needs to be further explained. I for one do not agree with the police theory based on the evidence they found in the incinerator for the following reasons:
The hair dye was explained adequately by the witnesses, as it was mentioned beforehand.
How does the finding of floodlights and wires mean this is a hoax? Why would the hoaxers need to fool themselves by mimicking an alien abduction “beam” with the lights, which is the only logical theory the police could have been proposing.
The phone conversation is suspicious, but not damning, as the police put it. There are many other explanations that I feel are being overlooked, including the overall likelihood of this hoax being carried out to the detail they postulate.
Although I do not agree with the police conclusions I do not omit them, nor do I omit the odd behavior of the witnesses, and as stated needs to be explained. What is interesting to me is the fact that the witnesses have not continued to try and propagate this hoax, if indeed that is what it was. With recent evidence showing that Amy and Keith fled to the UK what would be the point of making this up if they were not going to attempt to make money off of it or further the “story”? Maybe they got scared of being arrested for lying to the police? This is possible, but given the evidence and events surrounding the case it seems to me that the police scenario would be a stretch at best, in my humble opinion.
I also feel that we must be careful to judge what is and what isn't “suspicious behavior” concerning the experiencing of an event like a alien abduction. How are we to know how one would act? Do we really have the facts to judge that the reports of a “MIB-type encounter” is a lie? We do not, but admittedly the odd behavior and stories of the witnesses does not look good. There is however enough questions and evidence to further an investigation in this case, as well give some credence to the witness testimony.
With even the police themselves refusing to close this case I feel it is very ambiguous to make any form of further conclusions. While in the best case scenario (at this point) we could either get a “likely true” or “likely hoax”, I firmly believe this case is indubitably worthy of much deeper study, if possible. In this case I feel that some rather hasteful conclusions have been made erroneously, with a potential great case being quickly dismissed as a hoax. If indeed this whole event was a hoax than it still serves a useful purpose in my opinion, and that is to teach us how far some will go to perpetrate such things. In either event I feel this is an important case to bring to the attention of our community, and I look forward to any additional insight anyone may be able to provide if possible. At the least this case will hopefully come to some further attention than it has gotten thus far.
Called the "flagship case" of alien abduction. A husband and wife (Betty and Barney Hill) taking a short vacation see a bright object in the evening. They are stopped on the road by aliens and become part of an abduction case for the ages. Regressive hypnosis plays a major role in unveiling a dark secret... a secret of alien abduction, and medical experimentation.
1967, the Betty Andreasson Abduction
In South Ashburnham, Massachusetts on the night of January 25, 1967, one of the most celebrated cases of UFO abduction began. Betty Andreasson was working in her kitchen while her seven children, mother, and father were in the living room... suddenly a bright light invades the house. From the yard, alien creatures are seen hopping toward the house! This is one of the strangest abduction cases.
1967 Abduction of Herbert Schirmer
As Patrolman Schirmer passed through the intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 63 on the outskirts of Ashland, he saw what appeared to be red lights on a large truck stopped a short way down Highway 63. He decided to check it out. He drove the short distance down 63 and stopped with his headlights shining on the object. According to Schirmer, the object was definitely not a truck. The red lights that he had seen were blinking through the oval portholes of a metallic, oval-shaped object.
1969 The Buff Ledge Camp Abduction
Only seven and a half years after the Betty and Barney Hill story, the New England states would again host an alien abduction. Buff Ledge in Vermont would be the site of a visitation by four UFOs which would make revolutionary aerial maneuvers. Two counselors would suffer missing time, and seek professional help.
Fifteen different people see a large, silver UFO fly over a housing project in St. Tammany Parish, New Orleans, Louisiana. Only a scant 24 hours later, Calvin Parker and Charles Hickson would unwillingly take a journey into the unknown... strange creatures with claw-like hands abduct them. J. Allen Hynek investigates.
1975 The Abduction of Sergeant Charles L. Moody
Alamogordo, New Mexico would be the location of a UFO encounter involving Air Force Sergeant Charles L. Moody on August 13, 1975. Moody was in the desert observing a meteor shower at about 1:15 A.M. when he saw a glowing, metallic, disk-shaped object falling toward the ground about 300 feet away.
1975 The Travis Walton Abduction
As seven bloggers began their journey home, they see a "luminous object, shaped like a flattened disc." All of the men agreed that Travis Walton, captivated by the sight, left the truck to get a closer look. A blue beam hits him, throwing him to the ground. He would vanish for five days, and soon begin telling his story of the inside of an extraterrestrial spacecraft.
1976 The Stanford, Kentucky Abductions
While America was still buzzing over the Travis Walton abduction, three women are abducted near Stanford, Kentucky. Heading for Hustonville on Highway 78, they suddenly see a "bright, red" object in the clear, night sky, turning a nice evening into a night of terror. Read about this in depth investigation here.
The Allagash Waterway incident would involve multiple witnesses. Four artists were enjoying a canoeing trip on the Allagash Waterway when their pleasant evening was turned into a nightmare... A nightmare of missing time and alien abduction. At first only missing time, and then forgetfulness. Finally a connection is made, and little by the details become known in this compelling case of alien abduction.
1976 The Dechmont Forest Abduction
Robert Taylor was sixty-one-years-old at the time that he had the most unusual encounter of his life. He had worked as a forester all of his adult life in the Dechmont woods located in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. On the morning of Friday, November 9, 1979, he and his red setter rounded a corner on a forest trail and saw an unbelievable sight, a UFO! The object appeared to be hovering just above the forest floor. It made no sound, and seemed to be motionless.
1985 The Whitley Strieber Abduction
Well known writer Whitley Strieber would be abducted by aliens while in his isolated cabin in upstate New York over the Christmas season of 1985. He encountered 4 types of alien beings, which subjected him to medical tests.
A policeman named Philip Spencer claims to have taken a picture of an alien being. If this is true, it is one of only a few in existence. The scary Ilkley Moor in Yorkshire, England would hold the secret of the strange creature encountered one early morning. Godfrey was frightened, but ran after the creature, taking one photograph. See it here. Through hypnosis, he would recall an odd flying object, and an alien abduction.
1988 Father & Son Abducted
John Salter Jr. and his son are abducted by benevolent aliens. One of the few cases in which alien abduction turned out to be a good thing. Medical experimentation has a happy ending, with improved health for both abductees.
An extremely compelling case of alien abduction is that of Linda Napolitano. Napolitano has claimed that she was abducted by the so-called "greys," who floated her from a closed bedroom window into a hovering UFO. As time went by, several different eye witnesses came forward to substantiate her claims... Several bystanders, including a well known politician, actually see the incident.
1993 The Kelly Cahill Abduction
In August 1993, 27-year-old Kelly Cahill, her husband, and three children were driving home after a visit to a friend's house. Their routine journey would soon become a harrowing trip into an unknown world of strange beings that occupied space but were void of color as we know it. The Dandenong foothills, near Victoria, Australia would be forever linked to one of the strangest creatures in Ufological archives.
1997 Abduction in Wales
One of the weirdest cases reported to the Welsh Federation of Independent Ufologists is the multiple sighting of UFOs on the same night - except one family got too close for comfort and were apparently abducted. The strange and disturbing events began to unfold when for several nights an elderly man living in Little Orme, Conwy, was troubled by what he called "frightening" beams of light over the Great Orme.
Scientists Just Gained Access To Mysterious Lake Buried Under 3,500 Feet Of Ice In Antarctica
Mysteriouslake buried under 3,500 feet of ice discovered by scientists.
On December 26th scientists finally managed to reach a mysterious Subglacial Lake which was buried under 3,500 feet of ice in Antarctica. In a blog post, the Subglacial Antarctic LakesScientificAccess (SALSA) announced that it took almost two whole days of drilling to reach Mercer Subglacial Lake during this holiday season.
Antarctic Landscape, Portal Point, Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica
Twice the size of Manhattan
The team of researchers with the organization was comprised of 45 scientists, drillers, and various other staff members. They were able to drill a borehole big enough to send down an instrument the next day to capture a glimpse of the huge subglacial body of water which was described as “twice the size of Manhattan”. The group is planning to study the lake further over the coming days such as depth, temperatures, and cleanliness. They are also going to lower a remotely operated vehicle down through the borehole to get more footage and take more extensive measurements about the mysterious lake.
John Priscu, chief scientist for SALSA, told environmental news site Earther Monday that they were unsure of what to expect as it is such a new discovery and they were still learning as they went along. The SALSA team flew to Mercer Subglacial Lake on Dec. 19 and began drilling days later, on Dec. 23.
Al Gagnon (left) and SALSA Marine Techs Michael Tepper-Rasmussen and Jack Greenberg (ctr and right) test the @WHOI (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) Gravity Corer that will be used to collect 10-ft and 20-ft sediment cores from Mercer Subglacial Lake. #nsfsalsa#Antarctica
The drilling process is more complicated than just making a hole. There are many steps to take when drilling into a new environment for the first time. Part of that process involves sampling the drill water and testing it for cleanliness. In the words of SALSA PI Brent Christner, it was as clean as filtered water can get. This came after the water had been tested twice already by running it through filters that are able to catch 99.9% of germs and bacteria. At least eight days have been scheduled by the organization dedicated to sampling and testing the lake's water and sediments.
What's next?
Matt Siegfried, a glaciologist and SALSA member, has expressed his excitement by stating that they are currently sampling the deepest standing water body humans have ever accessed beneath Antarctica. It will, however, take many years to study all the samples they collect and process the data before any new concrete information can be released about life in this particular ecosystem.
Mercer Subglacial Lake was first discovered via satellite more than a decade ago, and there are reportedly around 400 lakes just like this one hiding beneath Antarctica's ice sheets which in my opinion, is very exciting indeed. I will personally be keeping an eye on the news from now on, excited to see what will come from this Subglacial Lake, and potentially many others around it!
