In de afgelopen jaren werden in Brazilië tientallen activisten en leiders van landbewegingen, na ontmoetingen met organisaties als het Agrarisch nationaal en Incra vermoord. Vele leiders en activisten, Indianen en quilombolos (ex-slaven communiteiten, nu samengaand met landloze en sociale bewegingen) , werden doelwit van politie en pistoleiros, ze werden gemarteld en op een ruwe wijze vermoord, vechtend voor hun grond, terwijl de opdrachtgevers en moordenaars vrijuit gaan.
In recent years, dozens of activists and leaders of land movements, murdered in Brasil after meetings with organizations such as the National Agricultural and INCRA. Many leaders and activists, Indians and quilombolos (former slave communities, now concomitant with landless and social movements), were targeted by police and pistoleiros, they were tortured and murdered in a rough way, fighting for their land, while patrons and killers go unpunished.
