UFO Debate: Stanton Friedman and Col. Alexander
Here’s one older UFO debate from 2011 Arizona UFO conference with Stanton Friedman, retired nuclear physicist and professional ufologist and a retired U.S. Army infantry officer and colonel John B. Alexander.
People were flocking near Chilbolton radio telescope in Hampshire, the UK on Tuesday, August 21, 2001, to see two crop formations. Featuring a large number of small pixels, both looked very impressive, especially the view from above.
One formed a human face and the other represented a radio transmission that Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) sent from the Arecibo radio telescope in 1974. According to the witnesses, the Arecibo formation was created on August 20. The two formations were 200m apart in the same field.
The interpretation of the human face came from researcher and writer Wayne Herschel. In his analysis, the face looks like an Egyptian Sphinx and Viracocha. However, the Mars Face could be the most thought provoking resemblance.
The Arecibo in the northern coast of Puerto Rico contains a natural disc-shaped hole in the rock. Inside the bowl is a 100-feet diameter radio telescope, the largest one in the world.
Some modifications performed to the transmitter in 1974, allowing it to broadcast up to 20 terawatts. SETI decided to transmit an encoded message to the heavens as an inaugural test of those modifications or improvements. The signal was directed to the globular star cluster M13, estimated to be 25,000 light years away and consisted of around 300,000 stars in the constellation of Hercules.
Transmitted on November 16, 1974, the message consisted 1679 pulses of binary code (o’s and 1’s), which needed only a little under 3 minutes to transmit on a 2380MHz.
The reason for 1679 is down to mathematics. The number is the unique product of two prime numbers, 23 and 73. The people behind the decision of the number assumed that any lifeform with enough intellect would look for unique, universal constructs, such as binary digits, chemical element frequencies, and prime numbers.
Only the two prime numbers 23 and 73 produce 1679 when multiplied together, so there can only be one way to arrange the signal if converted it into a matrix grid – 23 squares by 73 squares. The pattern in Chilbolton crop field was decoded as:
“Beware the bearers of false gifts and their broken promises.
Much pain, but still time. Believe there is good out there.
We oppose deception. Conduit closing. 0x07″
The 0x07 is a binary code that means a bell sound or a sound of an old typewriter.

In April 1986, following an attack on American soldiers in a Berlin disco, President Reagan ordered the bombing of Muammar Qaddafi's terrorist camps in Libya. My duty was to fly over Libya and take photos recording the damage our F-111's had inflicted. Qaddafi had established a 'line of death,' a territorial marking across the Gulf of Sidra , swearing to shoot down any intruder that crossed the boundary. On the morning of April 15, I rocketed past the line at 2,125 mph.
I was piloting the SR-71 spy plane, the world's fastest jet, accompanied by Maj Walter Watson, the aircraft's reconnaissance systems officer (RSO). We had crossed into Libya and were approaching our final turn over the bleak desert landscape when Walter informed me that he was receiving missile launch signals. I quickly increased our speed, calculating the time it would take for the weapons-most likely SA-2 and SA-4 surface-to-air missiles capable of Mach 5 - to reach our altitude. I estimated that we could beat the rocket-powered missiles to the turn and stayed our course, betting our lives on the plane's performance.
After several agonizingly long seconds, we made the turn and blasted toward the Mediterranean 'You might want to pull it back,' Walter suggested. It was then that I noticed I still had the throttles full forward. The plane was flying a mile every 1.6 seconds, well above our Mach 3.2 limit. It was the fastest we would ever fly. I pulled the throttles to idle just south of Sicily , but we still overran the refueling tanker awaiting us over Gibraltar.
Scores of significant aircraft have been produced in the 100 years of flight, following the achievements of the Wright brothers, which we celebrate in December. Aircraft such as the Boeing 707, the F-86 Sabre Jet, and the P-51 Mustang are among the important machines that have flown our skies. But the SR-71, also known as the Blackbird, stands alone as a significant contributor to Cold War victory and as the fastest plane ever-and only 93 Air Force pilots ever steered the 'sled,' as we called our aircraft.
As inconceivable as it may sound, I once discarded the plane. Literally. My first encounter with the SR-71 came when I was 10 years old in the form of molded black plastic in a Revell kit. Cementing together the long fuselage parts proved tricky, and my finished product looked less than menacing. Glue, oozing from the seams, discolored the black plastic. It seemed ungainly alongside the fighter planes in my collection, and I threw it away.
Twenty-nine years later, I stood awe-struck in a Beale Air Force Base hangar, staring at the very real SR-71 before me. I had applied to fly the world's fastest jet and was receiving my first walk-around of our nation's most prestigious aircraft. In my previous 13 years as an Air Force fighter pilot, I had never seen an aircraft with such presence. At 107 feet long, it appeared big, but far from ungainly.
Ironically, the plane was dripping, much like the misshapen model had assembled in my youth. Fuel was seeping through the joints, raining down on the hangar floor. At Mach 3, the plane would expand several inches because of the severe temperature, which could heat the leading edge of the wing to 1,100 degrees. To prevent cracking, expansion joints had been built into the plane. Sealant resembling rubber glue covered the seams, but when the plane was subsonic, fuel would leak through the joints.
Origins The SR-71 was the brainchild of Kelly Johnson, the famed Lockheed designer who created the P-38, the F-104 Starfighter, and the U-2. After the Soviets shot down Gary Powers' U-2 in 1960, Johnson began to develop an aircraft that would fly three miles higher and five times faster than the spy plane-and still be capable of photographing your license plate. However, flying at 2,000 mph would create intense heat on the aircraft's skin. Lockheed engineers used a titanium alloy to construct more than 90 percent of the SR-71, creating special tools and manufacturing procedures to hand-build each of the 40 planes. Special heat-resistant fuel, oil, and hydraulic fluids that would function at 85,000 feet and higher also had to be developed.
In 1962, the first Blackbird successfully flew, and in 1966, the same year I graduated from high school, the Air Force began flying operational SR-71 missions. I came to the program in 1983 with a sterling record and a recommendation from my commander, completing the weeklong interview and meeting Walter, my partner for the next four years He would ride four feet behind me, working all the cameras, radios, and electronic jamming equipment. I joked that if we were ever captured, he was the spy and I was just the driver. He told me to keep the pointy end forward.
We trained for a year, flying out of Beale AFB in California , Kadena Airbase in Okinawa, and RAF Mildenhall in England . On a typical training mission, we would take off near Sacramento, refuel over Nevada, accelerate into Montana, obtain high Mach over Colorado, turn right over New Mexico, speed across the Los Angeles Basin, run up the West Coast, turn right at Seattle, then return to Beale. Total flight time: two hours and 40 minutes.
One day, high above Arizona , we were monitoring the radio traffic of all the mortal airplanes below us. First, a Cessna pilot asked the air traffic controllers to check his ground speed. 'Ninety knots,' ATC replied. A twin Bonanza soon made the same request. 'One-twenty on the ground,' was the reply. To our surprise, a navy F-18 came over the radio with a ground speed check. I knew exactly what he was doing. Of course, he had a ground speed indicator in his cockpit, but he wanted to let all the bug-smashers in the valley know what real speed was 'Dusty 52, we show you at 620 on the ground,' ATC responded. The situation was too ripe. I heard the click of Walter's mike button in the rear seat. In his most innocent voice, Walter startled the controller by asking for a ground speed check from 81,000 feet, clearly above controlled airspace. In a cool, professional voice, the controller replied, ' Aspen 20, I show you at 1,982 knots on the ground.' We did not hear another transmis sion on that frequency all the way to the coast.
Permanent Awe The Blackbird always showed us something new, each aircraft possessing its own unique personality. In time, we realized we were flying a national treasure. When we taxied out of our revetments for takeoff, people took notice. Traffic congregated near the airfield fences, because everyone wanted to see and hear the mighty SR-71 You could not be a part of this program and not come to love the airplane. Slowly, she revealed her secrets to us as we earned her trust.
One moonless night, while flying a routine training mission over the Pacific, I wondered what the sky would look like from 84,000 feet if the cockpit lighting were dark. While heading home on a straight course, I slowly turned down all of the lighting, reducing the glare and revealing the night sky. Within seconds, I turned the lights back up, fearful that the jet would know and somehow punish me. But my desire to see the sky overruled my caution, I dimmed the lighting again. To my amazement, I saw a bright light outside my window. As my eyes adjusted to the view, I realized that the brilliance was the broad expanse of the Milky Way, now a gleaming stripe across the sky. Where dark spaces in the sky had usually existed, there were now dense clusters of sparkling stars Shooting stars flashed across the canvas every few seconds. It was like a fireworks display with no sound. I knew I had to get my eyes back on the instruments, and reluctantly I brought my attention back inside. To my surprise, with the cockpit lighting still off, I could see every gauge, lit by starlight. In the plane's mirrors, I could see the eerie shine of my gold spacesuit incandescently illuminated in a celestial glow. I stole one last glance out the window. Despite our speed, we seemed still before the heavens, humbled in the radiance of a much greater power. For those few moments, I felt a part of something far more significant than anything we were doing in the plane. The sharp sound of Walt's voice on the radio brought me back to the tasks at hand as I prepared for our descent.
The SR-71 was an expensive aircraft to operate. The most significant cost was tanker support, and in 1990, confronted with budget cutbacks, the Air Force retired the SR-71.The Blackbird had outrun nearly 4,000 missiles, not once taking a scratch from enemy fire.
On her final flight, the Blackbird, destined for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum , sped from Los Angeles to Washington in 64 minutes, averaging 2,145 mph and setting four speed records.
The SR-71 served six presidents, protecting America for a quarter of a century. Unbeknownst to most of the country, the plane flew over North Vietnam , Red China, North Korea , the Middle East, South Africa , Cuba , Nicaragua , Iran , Libya , and the Falkland Islands . On a weekly basis, the SR-71 kept watch over every Soviet nuclear submarine and mobile missile site, and all of their troop movements. It was a key factor in winning the Cold War.
I am proud to say I flew about 500 hours in this aircraft. I knew her well. She gave way to no plane, proudly dragging her sonic boom through enemy backyards with great impunity. She defeated every missile, outran every MiG, and always brought us home. In the first 100 years of manned flight, no aircraft was more remarkable.
Approaching the Libyan Coast With the Libyan coast fast approaching now, Walt asks me for the third time, if I think the jet will get to the speed and altitude we want in time. I tell him yes. I know he is concerned. He is dealing with the data; that's what engineers do, and I am glad he is. But I have my hands on the stick and throttles and can feel the heart of a thoroughbred, running now with the power and perfection she was designed to possess. I also talk to her. Like the combat veteran she is, the jet senses the target area and seems to prepare herself.
For the first time in two days, the inlet door closes flush and all vibration is gone. We've become so used to the constant buzzing that the jet sounds quiet now in comparison. The Mach correspondingly increases slightly and the jet is flying in that confidently smooth and steady style we have so often seen at these speeds. We reach our target altitude and speed, with five miles to spare. Entering the target area, in response to the jet's new-found vitality, Walt says, 'That's amazing' and with my left hand pushing two throttles farther forward, I think to myself that there is much they don't teach in engineering school.
Out my left window, Libya looks like one huge sandbox. A featureless brown terrain stretches all the way to the horizon. There is no sign of any activity. Then Walt tells me that he is getting lots of electronic signals, and they are not the friendly kind. The jet is performing perfectly now, flying better than she has in weeks. She seems to know where she is. She likes the high Mach, as we penetrate deeper into Libyan airspace. Leaving the footprint of our sonic boom across Benghazi , I sit motionless, with stilled hands on throttles and the pitch control, my eyes glued to the gauges.
Only the Mach indicator is moving, steadily increasing in hundredths, in a rhythmic consistency similar to the long distance runner who has caught his second wind and picked up the pace. The jet was made for this kind of performance and she wasn't about to let an errant inlet door make her miss the show. With the power of forty locomotives, we puncture the quiet African sky and continue farther south across a bleak landscape.
Under Attack Walt continues to update me with numerous reactions he sees on the DEF panel. He is receiving missile tracking signals. With each mile we traverse, every two seconds, I become more uncomfortable driving deeper into this barren and hostile land. I am glad the DEF panel is not in the front seat. It would be a big distraction now, seeing the lights flashing. In contrast, my cockpit is 'quiet' as the jet purrs and relishes her new-found strength, continuing to slowly accelerate.
The spikes are full aft now, tucked twenty-six inches deep into the nacelles. With all inlet doors tightly shut, at 3.24 Mach, the J-58s are more like ramjets now, gulping 100,000 cubic feet of air per second. We are a roaring express now, and as we roll through the enemy's backyard, I hope our speed continues to defeat the missile radars below. We are approaching a turn, and this is good. It will only make it more difficult for any launched missile to solve the solution for hitting our aircraft.
I push the speed up at Walt's request. The jet does not skip a beat, nothing fluctuates, and the cameras have a rock steady platform. Walt received missile launch signals. Before he can say anything else, my left hand instinctively moves the throttles yet farther forward. My eyes are glued to temperature gauges now, as I know the jet will willingly go to speeds that can harm her. The temps are relatively cool and from all the warm temps we've encountered thus far, this surprises me but then, it really doesn't surprise me. Mach 3.31 and Walt is quiet for the moment.
I move my gloved finder across the small silver wheel on the autopilot panel which controls the aircraft's pitch. With the deft feel known to Swiss watchmakers, surgeons, and 'dinosaurs' (old- time pilots who not only fly an airplane but 'feel it'), I rotate the pitch wheel somewhere between one-sixteenth and one-eighth inch location, a position which yields the 500-foot-per-minute climb I desire. The jet raises her nose one-sixth of a degree and knows, I'll push her higher as she goes faster. The Mach continues to rise, but during this segment of our route, I am in no mood to pull throttles back.
Walt's voice pierces the quiet of my cockpit with the news of more missile launch signals. The gravity of Walter's voice tells me that he believes the signals to be a more valid threat than the others. Within seconds he tells me to 'push it up' and I firmly press both throttles against their stops. For the next few seconds, I will let the jet go as fast as she wants. A final turn is coming up and we both know that if we can hit that turn at this speed, we most likely will defeat any missiles. We are not there yet, though, and I'm wondering if Walt will call for a defensive turn off our course.
With no words spoken, I sense Walter is thinking in concert with me about maintaining our programmed course. To keep from worrying, I glance outside, wondering if I'll be able to visually pick up a missile aimed at us. Odd are the thoughts that wander through one's mind in times like these. I found myself recalling the words of former SR-71 pilots who were fired upon while flying missions over North Vietnam They said the few errant missile detonations they were able to observe from the cockpit looked like implosions rather than explosions. This was due to the great speed at which the jet was hurling away from the exploding missile.
I see nothing outside except the endless expanse of a steel blue sky and the broad patch of tan earth far below. I have only had my eyes out of the cockpit for seconds, but it seems like many minutes since I have last checked the gauges inside. Returning my attention inward, I glance first at the miles counter telling me how many more to go, until we can start our turn Then I note the Mach, and passing beyond 3.45, I realize that Walter and I have attained new personal records. The Mach continues to increase. The ride is incredibly smooth.
There seems to be a confirmed trust now, between me and the jet; she will not hesitate to deliver whatever speed we need, and I can count on no problems with the inlets. Walt and I are ultimately depending on the jet now - more so than normal - and she seems to know it. The cooler outside temperatures have awakened the spirit born into her years ago, when men dedicated to excellence took the time and care to build her well. With spikes and doors as tight as they can get, we are racing against the time it could take a missile to reach our altitude.
In Love With the Blackbird It is a race this jet will not let us lose. The Mach eases to 3.5 as we crest 80,000 feet. We are a bullet now - except faster. We hit the turn, and I feel some relief as our nose swings away from a country we have seen quite enough of. Screaming past Tripoli , our phenomenal speed continues to rise, and the screaming Sled pummels the enemy one more time, laying down a parting sonic boom. In seconds, we can see nothing but the expansive blue of the Mediterranean . I realize that I still have my left hand full-forward and we're continuing to rocket along in maximum afterburner.
The TDI now shows us Mach numbers, not only new to our experience but flat out scary. Walt says the DEF panel is now quiet, and I know it is time to reduce our incredible speed. I pull the throttles to the min 'burner range and the jet still doesn't want to slow down. Normally the Mach would be affected immediately, when making such a large throttle movement, but for just a few moments old 960 just sat out there at the high Mach, she seemed to love and like the proud Sled she was, only began to slow when we were well out of danger.
I loved that jet.

The SR-71 wasn’t like other planes. It didn’t retire like them either.
On this day in 1990, SR-71 #972 took its final flight for the U.S. Military and was officially retired. It ran from Los Angeles to Washington, headed to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. In typical Blackbird fashion, it set four speed records on the way.
Pilot Lt Col Ed Yielding and Reconnaissance Systems Officer Lt Col Joseph Vida took off at Palmdale, California and landed at Washington-Dulles a scant hour, four minutes, and 20 seconds later. This was enough to set records from the West Coast to the East Coast, from Los Angeles to Washington, from Kansas City to Washington, and from St. Louis to Cincinnati.
The average speed (just the average!) was 2,145 mph, as Brian Shul recalled in his account of his experiences as an SR-71 pilot, Sled Driver. You can read an excerpt of that book right here.
The Blackbird has a feel of a world record about it, in itself. You can look at an SR-71 and get a sense of standing human achievement, of something that appears almost like a natural creation. That it set a record on its final run is only fitting.
It is a commonly held belief that our lives are guided by some higher power. This higher power is usually God or fate. God or fate gives us small pushes throughout life. And these pushes can lead people to average things. Or lead them to exceptionally great things. These higher powers, however, may be of the space variety. New ideas behind some of the history’s greatest minds discuss an alien presence. Rather than a spiritual one. Some alien believers think that UFO sightings are simply aliens checking up on us. They have been called the “watchers.” Could aliens be behind how our lives actually turn out? Does the government know about this?
Foo Fighters (not the band) See UFO
The Foo Fighters of World War 2 saw a UFO while flying over Germany in 1944. These pilots reported glowing objects following their planes during the night. German and Japanese pilots also saw these glows during the war as well. This odd glow may support the recent Turkish pilots report of alien spacecraft.
British Roswell X-Files
Another government UFO sighting came in 1980. Called the British Roswell. It is one of the most popular cases in history. And also subject to a wealth of conspiracy theories. John Burrows, a U.S. soldier at the time of the incident, investigated the blue, red, and white glowing with other soldiers. They found a UFO that was made of smooth black glass. One soldier actually touched the alien spacecraft. He said his brain was given a code the second he touched it.
Alien Life on Earth
The former Defense Minister of Canada, Paul Hellyer, accused government agencies of keeping alien life on Earth secret. Hellyer has openly said that he has met aliens. And went further saying that four different alien species have visited Earth. He had strongly asked for government officials to come out of the UFO closet.
The former government official, Phil Snyder, had openly talked about UFO secrets. His death has also been the subject of myth. Since many believe he was assassinated. He spoke about government UFO cover-ups and black budgets. There were also debates about a government and alien partnership. A partnership that allowed the taking and testing of humans by aliens.
The Roswell Incident
Roswell made news in 1947, and is the most famous of all UFO and alien reports in history. Several government workers have openly shared the details of the Roswell event openly. The reports have detailed the capture of a flying saucer on a ranch near the military base. Three aliens were also reported to be found. This eye-witness report came from a Rancher who accidentally walked into an exam room where the aliens were held. Could all these people be lying?
Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) have been a topic of interest for decades, and with the recent release of thousands of previously classified government documents, we now know without question that government, military, and other defence agencies have had a high level of interest in this topic for a very long time.
These files indicate that objects are commonly tracked on both air and ground radar, as well as visually confirmed by the pilots who are sent out to intercept them.
Everything is in a process of investigation both in the United States and in Spain, as well as the rest of the world. The nations of the world are currently working together in the investigation of the UFO phenomenon. There is an international exchange of data. – General Carlos Castro Cavero (1979). For instance, here is an excellent example of a defence intelligence agency report detailing what commonly happens when a UFO is tracked on radar, and pilots attempt to intercept it (one of thousands). Apart from traveling at tremendous speeds and performing impossible maneuvers that no known aircraft can perform, when military jets enter the object’s vicinity, they usually experience critical instrumentation failure.
When President Truman made the statement that they discuss this issue at every conference that the government has held with the military, many people took notice. Peter Andrew Sturrock, a British scientist and an Emeritus Professor of Applied Physics at Stanford University, reminded us decades ago that we need to move forward with UFO research; this was in the 1960s. He stated that:
If it does indeed turn out that there is relevant physical evidence, if this evidence is carefully collected and analyzed, and if this analysis leads to the identification of several facts concerning the UFO phenomenon, then will be the time for scientists to step back and ask, What are these facts trying to tell us?(source)
After that, we had scientists like Dr. Jacques Vallee, notable for co-developing the first computerized mapping of Mars for NASA, and for his work at SRI International on the network information centre for ARPANET, a precursor to the modern Internet, publishing work in peer-reviewed scientific journals. For example, a study published in Scientific Exploration titled “Estimates of Optical Power Output in Six Cases Of Unexplained Aeriel Objects With Defined Luminosity Characteristics.” Apart from performing impossible maneuvers, the files also indicate some sort of electromagnetic effect when craft enter the vicinity of some of these UFOs. Critical weapons and electronic systems completely shut down. You can read about a classic example of that from two Canadian military pilots here.

Above is just a tidbit of information regarding the UFO phenomenon. This field is littered with information ranging from declassified documents, from video footage, to statements from some of the ‘highest-ranking’ military and political people in the world.
So, ask yourself, why has it taken so long to accustom people to the fact that these objects are real, do exist, and have possibly existed well before the existence of modern day humans? Former head of the CIA, Roscoe Hillenoketter told the NY times in 1960 that:

Perhaps it’s stories like the one that came out of Zimbabwe decades ago, where Harvard professor John Mack, heavily sponsored by Lawrence Rockefeller, uncovered a case of more than 60 school children witnessing a large craft landing with alien beings emerging from it. Perhaps it’s the fact that hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people have reported supposed encounters with extraterrestrial beings, either forced, friendly, or ‘unfriendly,’ or perhaps its the implant phenomenon. The list as to why the extraterrestrial hypothesis is plausible is a very long one, just as with the UFO phenomenon and the validity of it before it became mainstream, the reality of the extraterrestrial hypothesis is also very plausible, and based on my 10 + years of research, 100% definite. Even in the mainstream, scientists have told the world that we are not alone, that the probability for that possibility is next to zero, and that extraterrestrial life will most likely be discovered within the next couple of years.

What Will Happen When The World Finds Out We Are Not Alone?
The question is not if, it’s when.
We’ve been bombarded with alien propaganda for decades, and now, the topic is being taken more seriously by the mainstream, and people within the public eye. Hilary Clinton is a great example, as she is getting mainstream coverage regarding her willingness to ‘find out the truth.’ Even the head of her current presidential campaign, Jon Podesta, is a big advocate for UFO disclosure.
But this is confusing, given the fact that a number of government and military officials worldwide have been telling us the truth for decades. Why is truth only truth when mainstream media, or a person of extreme popularity within the public eye brings it up? This is a problem. When a big event happens, like 9/11, or, let’s say, an official announcement about the extraterrestrial presence, the worldwide population will be glued to the TV screen awaiting an explanation, without questioning it. I would be cautious of any information we receive from western governments that comes in the form of a major announcement.
We’ve seen deception on a number of different topics, from the ‘war on drugs’ to the ‘war on terror,’ so don’t expect something like this to be any different. Mainstream media like sot take real events and twist our perception regarding what’s going on behind them.
That being said, when we do find out, en masse, that we are not alone, there are so many questions to ask. The mere existence of these UFOs without the alien hypothesis even being contemplated brings up questions of science. How are they moving the way they do? They perform maneuvers that no known aircraft can. They tend to stop on a dime and hover, what type of propulsion systems are they using?
It’s certainly not the burning of fossil fuels. Who are they? Where do they come from? What else do they know? How do they get here? What about religion? What about panic? What about all of the years of secrecy and the questions that have been asked and answered by those keeping secrets? As you can imagine, there will be multiple questions, and you can bet that the world will come to a standstill in search of answers to their questions. It’s a topic that will touch all aspects of humanity, and humanity would be changed forever.

It seems to me that we are beyond the ‘panic’ point. I personally believe that we’ve been visited for a very long time, and if anything like that was to ever happen, it would have already taken place.
To really learn more about this topic, one has to be interested in it. To find out the why, whats, and the where, one can do the research and come up with educated guesses without ever being sure. It’s a deep topic that has branched into so many other areas of our existence: to faith, to health, and technology, all the way to our socio-economic structure and the way we decide to do things here on our planet.
The main point here is that people are going to have questions, and we are going to need teachers other than those who have been using mainstream media to dish out lies to the masses in order to fulfill some sort of agenda.

Des images prises par la sonde New Horizons en juillet 2015 sur la planète naine révèlent un paysage accidenté et somptueux, proche de ce qu'on peut observer à la surface de la Terre.
Plateaux, cratères et glaciers d'azote : ce sont des images incroyables qu'a révélé la Nasa. Dans une vidéo diffusée le 27 mai sur son site internet, l'agence spatiale américaine montre des images de la surface de Pluton, prises par la sonde spatiale New Horizons en juillet 2015, quand celle-ci était avait approché au plus près la planète naine.
Selon la Nasa, il s'agit de "l'aperçu le plus détaillé de la surface de Pluton" que l'on pourra voir avant un long moment. D'une résolution de 80 mètres par pixels, ces images vont permettre aux scientifiques d'examiner en détail les différents types de sols de Pluton et de comprendre comment ils se sont formés.
On peut notamment y discerner un terrain accidenté, des chaînes de montagnes anguleuses et chaotiques, d'immenses plaines, des glaciers et de profondes crevasses. "Ces images sont simplement magnétiques", résume Alan Stern, chercheur au Southern Research Institute de Boulder (Colorado).
In 1950s the idea of creating the nuclear airplane, the long range strategic bomber powered on the power of atom was considered as a necessity by Soviet generals. At that time there was already built first Russian atomic ice breaker with its independent nuclear reactor on board. So the plane seemed to be pretty real. To give you a little spoiler on this post - yes, they finally was to able to build a working plane with a nuclear reactor on board which was powering it during the flight. Interested? Let's see how it all looked like:
There were almost 1,000 long range strategic bombers in the USA able to deliver nuclear bombs right into Russia at that time and Soviet army officials were afraid they had no such long range planes so they decided to get those, but not traditional propeller or jet powered ones but rather a nuclear one.
Why nuclear? Because according to their calculations the supersonic planes of big size needed for the transportation of lots of bombs would need over 10,000 tons of fuel just for one flight. Even storing such amounts of aircraft petrol in one place tend to be a problem.
Here on the pictures you can see a proposed design for the first plane with atomic nuclear reactor on board.
In June 1952 the leading Soviet nuclear engineer Alexandrov was telling the "godfather" of Soviet atomic industry Kurchatov: "Our knowledge of atomic reactors allows us to raise a question of achieving the development of engines powered with atomic force in nearest years".
However during these "few years" - three years to be exact, already the "conventional" heavy bombers appeared - for example the TU-95s "Bears" - which are still being used in Russian air force and are planned to be in service for as long as 2040 minimum.
Meanwhile, the planned nuclear plane has got its model name "M-50" and the nuclear engine initially was planned to be placed in the front part of the plane, but later as you can see on this picture was moved backwards.
This was one of the final looks of M-50 - it was now called M-52, M-56K or even M-60 - depending on the specimen that was developed - in parallel there were a few of similar planes prepared by separate groups of engineers.
Most of such planes had the nuclear engines that used molten metals to transfer heat from the nuclear reactor to the engine itself. Those were molten lithium or sodium. The engines also had an option to work on regular aircraft fuel - just like your regular hybrid car can go on electricity and on gas.
Also those planes were hosting one small plane - drone as we call it now - inside of themselves. You can see it on the previous picture (one which is above this one). It is marked red there and is located in the mid part of the plane. The idea for this drone was to be able to shoot bombs in more precise manner without the main plane going too much down from the supersonic altitidues it was going to fly at. So it just dropped this little plane which did all the job closer to the ground. Sort of a nuclear Soviet sub-orbital mothership.
Sadly, this exact plane was not finished. The main engineer who supervised those groups was moved to more important task at time - building the ballistic missiles - the ones that can reach far far away countries for sure and without the tricks of dropping drones or using molten lithium. So the project was closed.
However, remember I told you the nuclear planes still were built? Yes, there was another group working on those, and here is their story:
On this picture you can see the real and once being highly classified top secret Soviet nuclear plane. It was not a supersonic jet as the one before, was using the power of propellers to move, however it was still a nuclear powered strategic bomber!
It was developed in TU agency and their task was initially more simpler - to build a normal propellered but nuclearly powered plane.
At first in 1956 they built a "Flying Nuclear Lab" based on the normal TU-95 plane. Later the real nuclear TU went into process of building.
This is a real scheme of the nuclear turbo engine of the TU lab.
And this was another type of the engine they developed. The nuclear elements in this one was placed in round fashion around the engine.
This was an unground testing site for those engines.
And this is how the reactor, the engine and the sensors were hosted inside of the plane's body. The plane got its name TU-95LAL.
Behind the pilots cabin there was a very thick layer of radiation protection installed. However the outer walls were not that thick and radiation could go on the sides.
Here is this plane photographed unclose. Once very top secret now possible to see and explore - this photo shows the walls around the nuclear reactor inside this plane.
And this is how they were removing and installing the reactor from/into the plane.
Believe it or not but they were able to get this plane into the skies and just in one year - 1961 the year of the first Russian cosmonaut - this plane has took 34 flights alone.
The main danger they figured out was that such plane could contaminate huge areas of land with radioactive wastes. Remember that think side walls? So this project was dropped too!
The plane was left abandoned on the nuclear test site for over 15 years and then demolished by special order of top party officials.
However, this is still not the end of the nuclear planes history of Russia.
What if I tell you there was also a third plane?!
Yes, there was - please meet AN-22 01-07:
After the first two projects were abandoned most of the knowledge and developed technologies were then used to build the nuclear submarines. They successfully have been proved a good working idea and tested the approaches to the compact reactors for years. So later 1970s they were able to build the most advanced Soviet nuclear plane to date. How about the poisonous wastes? Nothing like that. "The only waste it produced was the heated air stream", remembers the engineer, "it was more ecologically sound than even the regular gas powered planes - no wastes at all".
This was achieved because after 1950s-60s they dropped the idea of nuclear reactors with "open cycle" and developed the "closed cycle" ones.
This is a drawing of this engine. It was called "combined turbo jet nuclear engine.
The engineers were telling that everything was nice with this engine - no waste, almost unlimited flight range (sic!). Just imagine this plane could fly around without landing as long as it wanted or as long as it was technically sound. The only problem says the engineer was the damage of the reactor or engine - if someone shoots down the plane or it falls down due to some technical mischiefs. In this case the casing of the engine/reactor can be damaged and lots of nuclear toxic stuff can be leaked. So they moved on to protect the engines further but...
But then the cold war ended, the Soviet Union collapsed, and we still don't see the ecological, cheap and unlimited air flights.
ALIEN ENCOUNTER: UFOs have been spotted across Hull
While Hull has never experienced a close encounter of the third kind (or so we think), there have been hundreds of sightings of UFO's around the city. And, it seems, even our city's beloved sporting teams have been affected by an out-of-this-world experience.
In 1980, at the start of Hull KR's glory days, there was a report of a strange red and white object hovering over Craven Park before disappearing. In the five years that followed, the club had an unprecedented run of success. Spooky, eh?
The Craven Park sighting and hundreds of other UFO reports in Hull have been filed and released by the National Archives in recent years. Here, local historian Mike Covell looks at ten of the strangest.
1. The Bransholme encounter

In October 1986 twenty people on Bransholme saw a moon shaped object with a curved cone on the top and red lights flying towards the direction of East Park. The group consisted of two adults and 18 children playing football. They contacted Humberside Police who in turn contacted RAF Binbrook, but the sighting was never explained and remains unsolved.
2. Patrington 'zig-zag' UFO

RAF Patrington, known today as RAF Holmpton, was one of the primary recording stations for the phenomena in the region. Whole files from the National Archives feature cases investigated by the staff at the base from civilians, police, and flight personnel. One such case was the sighting of a spherical object with flashing lights, moving in a zig-zag pattern up the River Humber towards Hull, on December 12, 1987. It was reported to Humberside Police who reported it to the RAF base but the case remains unsolved.
3. Tower Grange gets involved
Days after the sighting at RAF Patrington, on December 27, 1987, an east Hull couple contacted Tower Grange Police Station, who in turn contacted the MOD, with reports of a large, oblong shaped craft, with 50 to 100 bright yellow lights flashing around its edge. The unnamed couple saw the craft for a short period before it zoomed away.
In February 1988, a taxi driver and his passenger were heading along Robson Way, Sutton, towards Leads Road, when they saw a large orange-red orb hovering silently above the road. It was described as looking like a spherical hot air balloon, without anything slung underneath. The report was sent to Humberside Police, who forwarded it on to the MOD.
5. Craft descends on Craven Park

Without a doubt the strangest sighting came in September 1980, when an unnamed individual spotted a red and white round craft hovering above the sports ground. The person said it was there for four and a half minutes, and reported to the Humberside Police, who forwarded the sighting to RAF Binbrook.
6. Hessle's flying triangle
On July 13, 1990, an unnamed woman residing in Hessle spotted a UFO that looked like a giant flying triangle. She watched it for 45 minutes, but stopped and hovered for 30 minutes. It was seen to fly off after emitting a bright flash from its rear end. She ran upstairs and woke up her son and using binoculars, they watched it together. She reported the incident to Hessle Police Station and was described as being "a mature woman of sound mind."
On December 26, 1990, a large cigar shaped object was seen over Park Street, Hull, with blue and green lights at the rear. The unexplained craft flew west, then south, but hovered near Hull Royal Infirmary. The eyewitness was described as "sounding sober". It was reported to Humberside Police, who forwarded it to RAF Waddington, but the case remains unsolved.
8. Bransholme school teacher's encounter
In October 1990, a teacher, at Winifred Holtby School, Bransholme, was standing in the car park at 7pm when he saw an object fly towards the east from the west. It remained in view for several minutes before vanishing over the horizon. The observer was described as having worked at the school for nine months, had previously been at another school for seven years, was married for five years, and most importantly, "appears sensible and in complete control of all mental senses."
9. Humber Bridge UFO
Are aliens attracted to the other-worldly Humber Bridge?
Humber Bridge, unsurprisingly, features regularly in the UFO reports. One of the sightings occurred in April 1991, when two UFOs with blue, red and green lights, flew over the bridge. It was investigated by the Humberside Police and the details of their investigation were passed on to RAF Waddington.
Another sighting at the bridge took place in July 1997, when a silver cigar-shaped object flew over the bridge. It was described in the official files as having sharp, pointed wings, with a red light on one and a green light on the other.
It was said to have hovered by the bridge before shooting off at great speed towards Beverley. Interestingly, the official file goes on to state that nine witnesses saw the UFO, "the names of whom are held by the Hull Daily Mail."
One of the files features an encounter from October 17, 2002, and is described as a "credible witness UFO sighting". It was sent to Humberside Police's Incident Handling Unit, Northern Command Centre at Hessle Police Station on what can only be described as an official UFO reporting form.
The incident was recorded under log number 70, of 17/10/02 at 2.39am, when a member of the public in east Hull claimed to have seen two large flying lights near BP Saltend, seemingly communicating with each other through flashes.
Humberside Police despatched officers, one of whom saw it from Hedon, other officers spotted it from BP, and another said they saw it in Thorngumbald.
All described the lights as looking like stars but stopping and moving at great speeds. Despite this, and an investigation using the Humberside Police helicopter, the file claims the sighting was nothing more than a star or satellite, possibly affected by the nearby gasses emitted from the chemical works.

Footage showing David Cameron vowing to be "open and frank" about alien life has raised hopes of an official announcement that extra-terrestrials exist.
UFO hunters are keeping their fingers crossed that US President Barack Obama will go public before he leaves office.
Lobbyist Stephen Bassett, who is calling on the US Government to release its secret UFO files and hold Congressional hearings, believes the Prime Minister would follow suit if the Americans made the first move.
And it seems the Tory leader could be in favour of such a move after previously stating no government should hide the truth.
Richard D Hall, who is a chartered electrical engineer, quizzed Cameron during one of his 'Cameron Direct" meetings in 2009, before he became Prime Minister.
While taking questions from the audience, Richard asked him: “In July last year, the respected scientist and astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell, who was the sixth man to walk on the moon spoke on a British radio station.
"He said that the American government have had contact with extra-terrestrials on multiple occasions and that these were on going.
"He spoke about the Roswell event of 1947, where wreckage from a downed UFO was recovered and found to contain alien bodies.
"He said that this event was real and had been covered up by governments for many years.
"Do you agree with me David, that the British people have the right to know if we have been visited.
"And if so, when you become Prime Minister, as I know you will, will you seek to lift the veil of secrecy and tell the public the truth that they deserve, which has been covered up for all of these years.”
Initially the Tory chief poked fun at the question, saying: "I’m convinced we have been visited by alien life forms, and one of them is the trade secretary Peter Mandelson."
But he changed his tone once he realised Richard, who hosts his own TV show called Rich Planet and runs the Rich Planet website, was serious.
Cameron said: "I have no idea whether there is intelligent life out there and no idea whether any sightings that have taken place or incidents that have taken place have any basis in truth.
"All I know is I do believe in freedom of information and openness, and if this question has been asked from time of governments in this country and indeed in the US, I think we should be as open and as clear as possible.
"What’s tended to happen when people look at the Roswell incident or people look at pictures and other things that have happened is a rational explanation tends to be produced to try and show that its not what those who believe in UFOs suggest.
"But I think we should be as open as possible so I would be quite happy to give you a guarantee that if I was Prime Minister I would always be entirely open and frank about these things.
"I do not think any of us have any clue whether there is any intelligent life out there, and it is certainly not something that any government should seek to hide from anybody."
Following his response, Richard invited Cameron onto his TV show but he declined. He did, however, acknowledge his pledge in a personal letter.
More recently, democratic contender Hillary Clinton and her campaign boss John Podesta have championed the disclosure cause during her bid to become the next president.
Mr Bassett told Mirror.co.uk: "The UK has steadfastly stuck with the US regarding the truth embargo on the extraterrestrial presence for more than six decades.

Je rolt een internetkabel netjes op, maar na verloop van tijd komen er altijd weer knopen in. Hij heeft geconcludeerd dat de zwaartekracht geen fundamentele kracht is, maar een bijproduct van de natuur die streeft naar wanorde.

Net als bij het zwarte gat zit de meeste informatie over het heelal op die horizon, aldus Verlinde. Nu hij die informatie in zijn afleiding van de wetten van Newton en Einstein heeft gestopt, kan hij het raadsel van donkere materie en donkere energie oplossen.
Farao Toetanchamon is begraven met een dolk die is gemaakt van buitenaards materiaal, zo blijkt uit onderzoek van Italiaanse wetenschappers en het Egyptisch museum in Caïro.
Howard Carter, de ontdekker van het graf van Toetanchamon, trof de dolk in 1925 aan op de dij van de farao. Het ijzeren lemmet heeft onderzoekers sinds de ontdekking door Carter verbaasd. IJzerwerk was zeldzaam in het oude Egypte en de dolk was niet verroest.
Met behulp van röntgenapparatuur hebben de wetenschappers het lemmet geanalyseerd. Het ijzer blijkt 11 procent nikkel te bevatten, veel meer dan in normale ijzeren objecten zit.
Gift van de goden
Zo’n hoge concentratie nikkel is wel te vinden in meteorieten. De dolk bleek bovendien kobalt te bevatten, een metaal dat ook voorkomt in meteorieten. Uit oude teksten blijkt dat de Egyptenaren wisten dat hun zeldzame ijzer uit de lucht kwam vallen.
Volgens de wetenschappers hechtten de oude Egyptenaren grote waarde aan meteorieten, die zij als een gift van de goden zagen. De gebruikelijke term in die tijd voor ijzer was ‘ijzer uit de lucht’.
Niet het enige buitenaardse voorwerp
“De introductie van de term suggereert dat de oude Egyptenaren in de 13e eeuw voor Christus wisten dat er zeldzame stukken ijzer uit de lucht vielen,” schrijven de onderzoekers, die hun bevindingen publiceerden in het tijdschrift Meteoritics & Planetary Science. “Zo’n 2000 jaar eerder dan de westerse cultuur.”
De dolk is niet het enige buitenaardse voorwerp dat in de tombe van Toetanchamon is gevonden. Een sieraad in het graf bevat een scarabee van silica-glas. Dat is hoogstwaarschijnlijk gevormd als gevolg van de inslag van een meteoriet of komeet.
One of the very best photographs ever taken of a triangular UFO was snapped by an anonymous cameraman in Belgium in April of 1990. Recognized by anyone familiar with UFOs, it became the cornerstone of the Belgian UFO wave of 1989. On November 29, 1989, a triangular UFO with lights sparking underneath was seen by multiple witnesses-three groups of policemen included. This began a case which still baffles investigators today.
First Sightings:
The first night of sightings was only the beginning of one of the best documented and witnessed UFO waves ever. On more than one occasion, two F-16 fighter jets chased the unknown flying crafts, but without results. One of the most notable sightings of the wave came on March 30, 1990 from a Belgian National Police captain, who watched a giant, triangle UFO passing overhead. Two separate radar stations corroborated the sighting.
Radar Stations Report:
The triangle was moving very low, and very slowly over the landscapes of Belgium near the city of Glons, which is southeast of Brussels.
A NATO manned radar station was reporting the object, and they soon found that four more stations also were getting a return from the object. The flying object would not answer hails to identify itself, and sent no transponder signal. Jets would be sent to find the object.
F-16s Sent to Intercept:
Two American-made F-16s were scrambled by the military to intercept and identify the object. One of the jet radars did lock on the object, which appeared as a diamond shape on the screen. Seconds after the lock on, the UFO quickly moved out of the plane's radar range. The F-16 went after the UFO, but after a chase that lasted an hour, the UFO escaped unidentified, except for two more radar returns.
Beyond Our Technology:
The F-16 pilot knew that he was chasing something that had speed and maneuverability far beyond the capabilities of his jet. At one point, radar returns showed that the UFO had dropped from 10,000 to 500 feet altitude in 5 seconds, an unbelievable move. The sightings of the giant triangles continued for months, being witnessed over and over again. They often flew low enough to easily be seen with the naked eye.
Getting a Photograph:
The sighting wave became a big story in the Belgian media, and it became apparent that getting a photograph of the UFOs was almost impossible... many witnesses snapped photos of the triangles, only to see blurred imagery. This unusual occurrence was investigated by physics professor Auguste Meesen, who discovered that infrared light was not allowing the objects to be photographed.
Finally Captured on Video Tape:
Finally, one good video film was taken of the object. The image showed the bottom of the triangular shape, with three red spotlights on the corners. The photograph associated with the Belgian wave is actually a frame capture taken from the video. The film was taken over the town of Petit Rechain.
Classic Status:
The Belgium wave has obtained classic status in UFO lore. With over 1,000 witnesses, confirmed radar sightings, plane radar lock-ins, and military confirmations, the fact that an unknown craft moved across the country of Belgium cannot be denied. The case is also important for its unique information sharing. Civilian and military officials were forthcoming with the reports, and set a model for others to follow in their pursuit to uncover the mystery behind the UFO enigma.

For many years now, UFOs have more than not been identified as "flying saucers," or disc-shaped objects. Of course, there were other unknown flying object reports of odd-shaped vehicles of many different descriptions, but these were the exception and not the rule.
In the last 30 years or so, the triangle shape has become a topic of much discussion. Often reported as flying low and running silent, with several lights on the bottom, these strange objects have become an enigma in UFO circles. Sightings of these objects often come in waves, and they are reported as being able to go from a crawl to a high speed departure in a matter of seconds.
A Government Project?
Many feel that the triangle UFO may be a top-secret government craft, still in the experimental stage, and more than likely designed with military implications. Some researchers feel that they are the next step in the Stealth series of craft, capable of flying low and making their exit without being detected by enemy radar.
This type of craft would be indispensable for enemy surveillance, especially with weapon capabilites.
I will agree that a good portion of triangle UFO sightings may be attributed to a government manufactured craft, but this cannot account for all of them. The man on the street cannot know just how advanced governmental or military technological prowess may be, but reports of the flight characteristics of the triangles seem to surpass even our most liberal estimates of what modern technology is capable of.
Reports Increasing
Although the triangle craft seem to be a dark, mysterious entity, according to researcher and author, Clyde Lewis, triangle sightings in the United Kingdom are almost an everyday occurrence. He states in his article, "Mystery of the Black Triangles," there have been approximately 4,000 reports of the triangles since 1990 in the UK alone.
There have also been waves of triangle sightings in Belgium, France, Holland and Germany, beginning with the most celebrated wave of all, the 1989-1990 triangle wave over Belgium.
In this particular case, in addition to triangle sightings, other anomalous events took place. As some of the triangles were picked up by military radar, jets would be scrambled to get a close look at exactly what was invading Belgian airspace. However, although the jet fighters could briefly lock in on the mysterious UFOs, when their weapons were set to fire, their electrical systems would malfunction, and soon the triangles were out of range.
Anomalous Effects
A second unusual fact during the Belgian wave was the inability of eyewitnesses to capture the objects on film. There are a couple of fairly decent, distant videos of them, and finally one good photograph was taken in April, 1990 in the city of Petit Rechain.
This photograph, clearly shows a triangle-shaped object with red lights on the belly.
There were approximately 1,000 sightings of the Belgian triangle, and many of these were reported by ground observers who could clearly see the craft, and took what they felt would be a good, clear picture. However, when their film was developed, the image was blurry, and had no probative value. This fact came to the attention of August Meessen, physics professor, who was employed by the Catholic University at Louvin.
He developed a theory that the photographic failures were caused by infrared light. He proved his theory through scientific experiments. What this actually means is open to debate, but it appears from witness statements, that the farther away the triangle was from the photographer, the better chance to get a good image.
The sightings over Belgium were investigated, and there was no doubt that unknown, triangular-shaped objects moved over the country for about two years. They were caught on radar, seen by pilots, and witnessed by a general cross section of the public, including policemen.
No explanation could be given, except to say that something very unusual occurred in the Belgian skies. This is one of the best examples of the triangle UFOs, but in future articles, I will detail other special cases of these strange, low-flying craft.

Yeah, I know, its not a UFO, but it is really cool. I was teaching for more wreckage form the flight MH370 and stumbled upon this old ship or sub. Google ruler says its 95+ meters across, but since one side looks split open, its closer to 100 meters. There is a visible metal railing all around the edge of the craft so that tells me the ship has a metal outside hull. The floor of the craft is hard to make out, so I can't really tell if its metal or wood, which would help narrow down the date of the sinking and the type of craft. I did notice that the ship has a heart shape large fin, like a submarine would have in the back, but it may be just part of the reef its sitting on. If you know what kind of craft this is, what the name of this ship or sub is, or when it sank, please let me know in the comments below. Its driving me nuts not knowing. thanks, Scott C. In November, 1986, a Japanese crew of a jumbo freighter aircraft witnessed a UFO while flying over the state of Alaska. This sighting gained international attention when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it was going to officially investigate this sighting because the Air Route Traffic Control Center in Anchorage, Alaska, had reported that the UFO had been detected on radar. Captain Terauchi was featured on numerous radio and TV programs and in People Magazine.
Japan Airlines Flight 1628 Encounters a Massive UFO Midflight Over Alaska
One of the prevailing modern themes among UFO researchers today entails that UFOs have gradually changed in appearance over time. Beginning with amorphous “green fireballs” and “ghost rockets” in the 1940s, by the 1950s and 60s, these “UFOs”, as they were dubbed by head of the USAF Project Blue Book Edward Ruppelt, began to often appear as saucer or disc-shaped. Later, objects resembling eggs, cigars, and a host of other shapes were continually reported up until the later 1980s, when large, silent triangle-shaped aircraft began to become most prevalent amidst popular reports of mystery aircraft in our skies.
A skeptical friend of mine recently questioned me about this apparent trend, noting that, “it’s amazing to me that no one seems to have ever pointed this out or discussed it.” This, of course, was a misperception on his part — although quite an honest one, I believe — as I am often confronted with similar “why has nobody ever…” by my more skeptical friends (and in truth, rather than these being cases of some trend or question never having been addressed by serious UFO researchers, instead they tend to be evidential that many skeptics haven’t, for better or for worse, take time to familiarize themselves with literature about the UFO subject).
Perhaps the idea of “trends” in relation to changes among UFO descriptions over the years isn’t entirely without merit. It does seem that the alleged “silent triangle” UFOs began to appear with greater frequency during the 1980s and early 90s. In equal measure, fewer of the classic “Daylight Discs”, to borrow J. Allen Hynek’s terminology, seem to be seen in the modern era. So it does seem that an argument could be made that descriptions actually have changed some over time.
However, if we look more closely at the reports that have been collected over the decades, and truly attempt to dig deeply enough, at least, that we find credible ones in their midst, we find that many of the so-called “trending” UFOs have actually appeared numerous times over the course of the history of UFOlogy, and are not restricted to specific periods.
Take, for instance, the triangular UFO craft, the earliest appearances of which are largely attributed to the 80s and 90s. Looking further back, we actually find a number of credible witness reports that seem to suggest otherwise. In his 1965 book Anatomy of a Phenomenon, Jacques Vallee shared the following report that occurred in Poland in 1959:
“In March of 1959, on the coast of Poland near Kolobrzeg, Polish soldiers saw the sea suddenly become agitated. A triangular object, each side measuring about four meters, came out of the water and started to fly in circles over the barracks, then sped away and vanished.”
In 1996, my fellow MU blogger Nick Redfern also managed to find a report that occurred six years later in 1965, which had been reported to the MoD at the time it occurred.
“While digging through a whole host of formerly classified files on UFOs at the National Archives at Kew, England in 1996, I came across a one-page report dated 28 March 1965 that, I confess, I almost overlooked. On closer inspection, however, I realized that it was potentially one of the most important UFO-related documents that I had ever come across. According to the MoD paperwork, on the night in question a witness saw at approximately 9.30 p.m. over moor-land near Richmond, North Yorkshire, England: ‘Nine or ten objects – in close triangular formation each about 100ft long – orange illumination below – each triangular in shape with rounded corners, making low humming noise.’ ”
Redfern managed to track down the original witness to this 1965 episode, whose name was listed on the report. The man recalled the encounter with amazement once Nick reached out to him, describing that his car’s motor began to handle roughly immediately prior to the appearance of a large triangle, approximately 100 feet across and moving slowly toward him. The object then took off with amazing speed, angling upward and rising altitude to join a fleet of similar aircraft, which left the area together. For some time after the incident, the witness received numerous calls from an unidentified individual that claimed to work with a division of the government, who inquired about whether he had observed the craft again, or if anyone had interviewed him about it.
Researcher David Marler, author of the book Triangle UFOs: An Estimate of the Situation, also notes early reports of triangle shaped UFOs. Marler and I met in April, 2016, at a conference in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where I asked him if he had been aware of a report of a triangle-shaped “cloud” with a red light in the center, first related (as far as fringe literature goes, at very least) in Charles Fort’s classic work, The Book of the Damned. Not only had Marler indeed seen this and included it in his own book on the subject, but he had managed to glean a number of similar reports of triangle-shaped objects aircraft that well predated the more popular “modern” reports of silent triangle UFOs.
With little doubt, the same analysis could be applied to other descriptions or classification groups of UFOs, but using the preceding as a general example, the presumption that the UFO phenomenon appears to follow distinct trends over time may not be completely true. Or, at very least, as with all sets of rules, one will generally find exceptions if they look closely enough.

Inwoners van de Boliviaanse stad Santa Cruz hebben naar eigen zeggen een ‘alien’ uit een UFO zien komen. Diverse inwoners van de wijk El Dorado zagen eerst een helder licht aan de hemel dat begon te dalen en vervolgens bij een boom neerkwam. Dat meldt de Boliviaanse krant El Deber.
Het ongeïdentificeerde vliegende object werd gezien op donderdagavond 16 mei rond 22.00 uur. Het is volgens de krant voor het eerst dat zich zoiets in Santa Cruz heeft voorgedaan.
Drie tieners die op weg naar huis waren zeiden dat ze uit het object een vreemd schepsel met lange armen en korte benen zagen komen, dat uiteindelijk tussen de takken verdween. Het wezen zou ook voetafdrukken hebben achtergelaten, melden lokale media.
Heel hard geluid
De getuigen zeiden dat het licht op vuur leek en ook hoorden ze een donderend geluid. “Het wezen had grote ogen,” vertelde één van de getuigen aan de Boliviaanse tv-zender Red Uno.
“We hoorden een heel hard geluid,” zei een vrouw. “Alles viel uit. Er was geen mogelijkheid om het geluid op te nemen. Plotseling viel het naar beneden en verdween het. Ik weet niet wat het geweest is.”
Recht naar beneden
Een andere getuige zei: “Er kwam iets naar beneden, recht naar beneden. Een licht kwam recht naar beneden en kwam neer in die boom. Het probeerde bij dat huis naar binnen te gaan.”
In Bolivia worden vaker UFO’s gezien. Eind vorig jaar beweerde Maria Prado met zijn mobiele telefoon een vliegende schotel te hebben gefilmd in de lucht boven de stad El Alto in La Paz. Het cirkelvormige object verdween uiteindelijk in de wolken. De Mexicaanse krant Excelsior zette echter vraagtekens bij de echtheid van de beelden.

No matter which candidate is elected U.S. president in November, will he or she have full access to classified UFO and ET documents and will they be able to unveil them to the public? That question was addressed recently by Christopher Mellon, a 20-year high-level employee of the federal government in a variety of national security positions and a member of famous wealthy family that has long held the power and finances to gain access to such data. What does he think and why should we listen to him?

According to its website, UFODATA was founded a few years ago “to design, build and deploy a global network of automated surveillance stations that will monitor the skies full time looking for UFOs. UFODATA has no interest in alleged government conspiracies or adding more witness reports or FOIA documents to the thousands already on file.” Despite that pledged aversion to conspiracies, it recently added Chris Mellon to its board. According to his bio on the website, Mellon was “… a Legislative Assistant for Senator William S. Cohen he drafted the legislation establishing the US Special Operations Command … Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security and Information Operations during the Clinton Administration … Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence in the Clinton and Bush Administrations.” He also professes a lifelong interest in UFOs. Sounds like someone who might know something about classified UFO documents, doesn’t it?
Since his appointment to the UFODATA board, Mellon has shared his insights on, among other things, the promises that Hillary Clinton and her campaign manager, John Podesta, have made to open government UFO and Area 51 files to the public. Because Area 51 falls under the Department of Defense, Mellon claims presidential access to secret or “compartmented” Programs is on a need-to-know basis.
I recall instances when White House officials sought briefings on highly compartmented Department of Defence (DoD) programs and were flatly refused … In general, nobody outside DoD, including the Secretary of State, is deemed to have a need to know.
Nobody. Mellon goes further to discuss government involvement with UFOs during his time in Washington and what he expects the response to be..
During all those years, I never detected the faintest hint of government interest or involvement in UFOs … I think the conspiracy theorists will be angry and unconvinced.
Not a hint. Why? Mellon says “the UFO mystery is a scientific problem” and, as board member of UFODATA, he offers this advice to Hillary Clinton:
If Clinton really wants to get to the bottom of the UFO issue, I think she should officially task NORAD with collection and analysis responsibility. Simultaneously, she should assign the Office of Science and Technology Policy the job of reviewing available evidence, coordinating with other countries and providing scientific assessments and recommendations.
UFODATA’s proposed approach to collecting UFO data
A scientific approach to UFO research. Would that work? Would the results be accepted by the public? By the skeptics?
