De afgelopen jaren hebben de Amerikaanse overheid en het Amerikaanse leger een aantal geheimen vrijgegeven.
Eind vorig jaar openbaarde de luchtmacht een aantal documenten over een geheim programma, dat als doel had om vliegende schotels te bouwen.
Het ambitieuze programma, dat Project 1794 werd genoemd, werd in de jaren vijftig opgestart. Een team deskundigen werkte aan een schijfvormig voertuig dat supersonische snelheiden moest bereiken.
Het doel was om met de toestellen Mach 4 (vier keer de geluidssnelheid) en een hoogte van 30.480 meter te bereiken. Project 1794 werd in december 1961 stopgezet.
Project Iceworm
In de jaren zestig bouwde het Amerikaanse leger in het diepste geheim een aantal nucleaire installaties onder de ijskap van Groenland.
Hoewel het project de naam Iceworm droeg, startte het leger een tweede onderzoeksproject met de naam Camp Century om de aandacht af te leiden.
Ingenieurs bouwden een ondergronds netwerk van gebouwen en tunnels, waaronder woningen, een ziekenhuis, laboratoria, een communicatiecentrum en een kerncentrale.
De basis, die geheim werd gehouden voor de Deense regering, was zeven jaar operationeel. De restanten van Project Iceworm zouden nu bedolven liggen onder een dikke laag sneeuw.
Project MK-ULTRA
Tijdens de Koude Oorlog begon de CIA met Project MK-ULTRA, een geheim en illegaal onderzoeksprogramma naar hersenspoeling. Tijdens het programma werden de effecten van hypnose en drugs getest op mensen.
Volgens sommige historici is het programma ontworpen om systemen te ontwikkelen waarmee mensen kunnen worden gehersenspoeld. In 1973 gaf toenmalig CIA-directeur Richard Helms opdracht om alle documenten over MK-ULTRA te vernietigen. Enkele jaren later werd een officieel onderzoek ingesteld naar het project.
Area 51
Op zon 134 kilometer ten noordwesten van Las Vegas ligt Area 51, een topgeheime legerbasis die in verband wordt gebracht met paranormale activiteiten. Ook zouden in Area 51 UFOs en buitenaardsen verborgen worden gehouden.
In juli van dit jaar werd het bestaan van Area 51 officieel erkend door de CIA. De basis werd onder meer gebruikt om spionagetoestellen zoals de U-2 te testen.
Project Grudge
De Amerikaanse luchtmacht deed herhaaldelijk onderzoek naar het bestaan van UFOs. Project Grudge werd in 1949 gelanceerd om ongeïdentificeerde vliegende objecten te bestuderen. Het project werd echter bekritiseerd omdat het was opgezet om het onderwerp te ontkrachten.
Het programma werd voorafgegaan door Project Sign, dat werd ondergebracht op Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. Commandant Edward J. Ruppelt concludeerde dat vliegende schotels echte toestellen waren en waarschijnlijk niet van de aarde kwamen.
Operatie Paperclip
In september 1946 gaf president Harry Truman toestemming voor Operatie Paperclip, een programma dat wetenschappers uit nazi-Duitsland in staat stelde om na de Tweede Wereldoorlog naar de Verenigde Staten te komen.
Werknemers van het Office of Strategic Services (de voorloper van de CIA) rekruteerden Duitse wetenschappers om zoveel mogelijk technologische vernieuwingen naar de VS over te brengen.
De bekendste geleerde die de Amerikanen hiermee in handen kregen was Wernher von Braun, die met vrijwel zijn gehele team van ingenieurs en geleerden naar de VS ging. Er zouden ook technologieën zijn buitgemaakt die in nog altijd geheimgehouden militaire toestellen toegepast zijn. UFOs zouden hiervan voorbeelden zijn.
Uit een geheim rapport dat in 2010 in handen van The New York Times kwam blijkt dat Amerika na de oorlog een groot aantal nazis onderdak heeft geboden, waaronder raketwetenschapper Arthur Rudolph. De CIA regelde voor hen verblijfspapieren en een baan.
Manhattanproject
Het Manhattanproject was de naam van de zeer geheime operatie waarmee de VS tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog de atoombom ontwikkelde. Hoewel het onderzoek en de productie van nucleair materiaal op meer dan 30 locaties plaatsvond, werd het Manhattanproject vooral uitgevoerd op drie geheime locaties: Hanford (Washington), Los Alamos (New Mexico) en Oak Ridge (Tennessee). Er werkten ruim 130.000 mensen aan het project.
Veel bekende wetenschappers werkten mee in het team dat de bom ontwierp, waaronder Enrico Fermi, Robert Oppenheimer (wetenschappelijk projectleider), Richard Feynman, David Bohm en John von Neumann.

A strange newspaper story has emerged detailing an alleged attack on a couple by an unidentified object.
The story originates from an Asheville newspaper clipping posted to the web page of paranormal investigator Thomas Byers. According to the report, a couple had been visiting Brown Mountain in North Carolina in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the mysterious ghost lights that have been sighted there over the years.
After watching and waiting for two hours the couple finally saw some lights to the west, but rather than sitting back to enjoy the spectacle the pair were instead confronted with a strange flying object that headed towards them and actually bumped in to the top of their car.
The bizarre tale goes on to claim that as the couple attempted to drive away the object held the vehicle in place, preventing their escape. During the struggle, the object allegedly hit the roof with such force that the back window smashed and the car was crushed by about eight inches.
While there's little to corroborate this story so far, on his web page Byers has reported seeing a local Cable News Station Channel 12 broadcast detailing the incident and which included footage of the damage sustained by the vehicle.
It's possible that more information will surface on this one in the coming days.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) has reportedly used F-14A
Tomcats to intercept UFOs for decades.

An article in the October 2013 issue of the military aviation magazine
Combat Aircraft Monthly details the history of the Tomcat aircraft in
the IRIAF. Near the end of the article, a section titled UFO hunters describes
that F-14s have been used by the air force during the last twenty years to
intercept foreign and unknown aircraft.
The article explains that, when Irans nuclear program was revealed, the U.S.
used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to gather reconnaissance from nuclear
facilities in the fall of 2004. IRIAF reportedly had four F-4 and four F-14
interceptors standing by, twenty-four hours a day, because of this UAV presence.
Other F-4s and F-14s were kept on alert, and some were even flown every night to
monitor the areas airspace. But some of the unidentified craft they encountered
were anything but ordinary.
UFOs were spotted multiple times by both ground radar and airborne radar.
According to Combat Aircraft Monthly, Iranian sources described that
the UFOs displayed astonishing flight characteristics, including an ability to
fly outside the atmosphere, attain a maximum cruise speed of Mach 10, and a
minimum speed of zero, with the ability to hover over the target. These craft
also reportedly emitted high levels of magnetic energy that disrupted navigation
systems and jammed radars.
The article details one of these encounters where equipment was affected by a
UFO:
In one case over Arak in November 2004, the crew of an F-14A armed with two
AIM-9Js and two AIM-7E-4s spotted a luminous object flying near the heavy water
plant of the Arak site. When the beam of the jets AN/AWG-9 radar painted the
object, both the RIO and pilot saw that the radar scope was disrupted, probably
due to the high magnetic energy of the object increasing the power of the
reflected radar waves. The pilot described the object as being spherical, with
something like a green afterburner creating a considerable amount of turbulence
behind it. The Tomcat crew achieved a lock-on when it was flying a linear and
constant flight path. Once the pilot selected an AIM-7E-4 to launch against it,
the object increased its speed and then disappeared like a meteor.
The article also mentions a 2012 incident where an F-14 was scrambled to
intercept an incoming UFO, but seconds after taking off, the F-14 exploded.

Other attempted engagements by the F-4s and F-14s proved futile, so the IRIAF
reportedly ordered an end to flying missions against these luminous objects.
Both Iran and Russia allegedly investigated these extraordinary UAVs. But
following two years of research, the Iranian Army settled with the conclusion
that the craft were simply U.S. intelligence drones.
No currently known aircraft has the ability to perform like the UFOs observed
in Iran. NASAs X-43A Scramjet set a new world speed record for a jet-powered
aircraftMach 9.6, or nearly 7,000 mphin 2004. But it does not have the
capability to hover. It is a natural assumption that the U.S. military has
secret aircraft and technology that is yet to be publicly acknowledged. But
until such incredible technology is revealed, it is impossible to conclusively
write off the UAVs in Iran as U.S. drones.

Russia Unprepared to Deal With Space Alien Invasion

KRASNOZNAMENSK (Moscow region), October 2 (RIA Novosti) A Russian military
space official admitted Wednesday that the country will be powerless to act
should Earth become the target of an interplanetary incursion.
Sergei Berezhnoy, an aide to the head of the Titov Space Control Center, said
that Russian aerospace defense authorities have not been tasked with preparing
for the contingency of an alien attack.
There are enough problems on Earth and in near-Earth space, Berezhnoy said
in response to a reporters question.
The planets space powers are in any event limited in their scope of action
for building up military capabilities beyond the Earths confines. Under the
terms of the 1976 Outer Space Treaty, to which Russia is a signatory, states
cannot place weapons of mass destruction in orbit, although conventional weapons
are allowed.
The Titov Space Control Center, which is run by the Russian Aerospace Defense
Forces, is the countrys primary military and commercial satellite control
facility.
The facility currently operates about 80 percent of Russian orbital
spacecraft.

It is not a joke, nor a hoax, nor a sign of mental instability, nor an attempt to drum up local tourism by drawing the curious, the Soviet press agency Tass insisted today in discussions of what it called an extraterrestrial visit to southern Russia.
Residents of the city of Voronezh insisted today that lanky, three-eyed extraterrestrial creatures had indeed landed in a local park and gone for a stroll and that a seemingly fantastic report about the event carried Monday by the official press agency Tass was absolutely true.
''It was not an optical illusion,'' said Lieut. Sergei A. Matveyev of the Voronezh district police station, who said in a telephone interview that he saw the landing of the U.F.O. on Sept. 27. Lieutenant Matveyev confessed that he had not actually seen the aliens, but said he saw the spaceship and ''it was certainly a body flying in the sky,'' moving noiselessly at a very high speed and very low altitude. 'Anything Is Possible'
To be honest, Lieutenant Matveyev said, he was a little skeptical himself when he first saw the object. ''I thought I must be really tired,'' he said. ''but I rubbed my eyes and it didn't go away. Then I figured, in this day and age, anything is possible.''
Using the sensationalist tone that has lately infected the once-staid Tass, the press agency today provided more details of the U.F.O. landing in Voronezh, a city some 300 miles southeast of Moscow. According to Tass, and a report today in the newspaper Sovetskaya Kultura, two boys and a girl from a local school, Vasya Surin, Zhenya Blinov and Yuliya Sholokhova were playing in a park on the warm evening of Sept. 27 when suddenly, at half past six,
''They saw a pink shining in the sky and then spotted a ball of deep red color'' about 10 yards in diameter. A crowd gathered, ''and they could clearly see a hatch opening in the lower part of the ball and a humanoid in the opening.'' A Stare Silences Boy
The three-eyed creature, about nine feet tall and fashionably dressed in silvery overalls and bronze boots and with a disk on its chest, disappeared, then landed and came out for a promenade with a companion and a robot. The aliens seemed to communicate with each other, producing the mysterious appearance of a shining triangle, and activated the robot with a touch.
Terrified, a boy began to scream, but with a stare of the alien's shining eyes, Tass said, the boy was silenced and paralyzed.
After a brief disappearance, the three returned, but this time one of the ''humanoids'' had ''what looked like a gun'' by his side, a tube about two feet long that it directed at a 16-year-old boy. The boy, whose name was not given in the report, promptly vanished, but reappeared after the alien embarked in the ball. Vladimir A. Moiseyev, director of the regional health department, said in a telephone interview that despite reports of widespread fear in the city, none of the witnesses had applied for medical help. But he said that ''certainly we are planning to examine the children.
'' There was no explanation why, with the passing of two weeks, such an examination had not yet taken place. Report Treated Seriously.
Mr. Moiseyev, like other authorities in Voronezh, the editors of Tass, and indeed many of its readers, treated the report as a serious scientific phenomenon.

ever seen.
Its conducted by Kirsty Wark, one of the BBCs top presenters, and takes
places on Newsnight, the BBCs flagship nightly current affairs programme.
It truly makes me more ashamed of the profession of journalism than I
already was and I didnt think that was possible.
Throughout the interview, Wark abandons even the pretence of doing what
journalism is supposed to be about: interrogating the centres of power and
holding them to account.
Instead Wark mimics adversarial journalism by interrogating the US journalist
Glenn Greenwald about his role in the NSA leaks, as though shes a novice MI5
recruit. To do this she has to parrot British government misinformation and fire
at him questions so childish even she seems to realise half way through them how
embarrassing they are.
This is actually how most Newsnight interviews run: creating the theatre of
conflict between journalist and interviewee that conceals the real issues rather
than revealing them. If one wanted to produce news that looked honest while
actually being deeply dishonest this is exactly how one would do it.
The reason that the charade is exposed in this case is because the
interviewee, Greenwald, is another journalist, and a far better one than Wark.
So every time she relays an MI5 talking point, he can point out that shes not
doing the work of a journalist, even by the official definition she is supposed
to believe in.
