Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Reports of hairy humanoids in the Americas like Bigfoot have captured the public’s fascination for decades. The proposed existence of such creatures beckons to us, after a fashion, and hints at a primal element that even modern humans seem to possess after all these many thousands of years of evolution and pairing that have made us what we are today.
Most often, the stories we hear about Bigfoot entail creatures much larger than humans, but similar in their general bipedal posture, physiognomy, opposable thumbs, and other human-like traits they are said to possess. Larger than life in the very literal sense, the problem scientists face when trying to understand them is how such a creature, with their humanlike appearance and potential for intelligence, could exist undiscovered; save only for the scant recollections of those claiming to have had remarkable encounters with the things.
The encounters, as circumstantial evidence, must account for something: these “scant recollections” actually number in the thousands, and no single complete survey of all reports that have appeared online, in books over the years, on podcasts and radio shows, and which have circulated by word of mouth, has ever been organized and collected. Indeed, mass delusion on this scale would require a new understanding of psychology and the workings of the human mind, as well as a bleak new acceptance of the fallibility of the senses.
By contrast, the hard questions remain just as well: what would a group of creatures like Bigfoot consume, particularly in the remote regions of North America? Why have no bodies ever been recovered? For enough of a breeding population to exist, there would have to be enough of the creatures in existence for their regular appearances to occur; are the plethora of reports mentioned previously capable of accounting for this, and if so, why does the academic establishment still hesitate to take this subject seriously?
For the sake of conversation, let’s suspend our disbelief for a moment about whether or not such a creature could exist, and explore a hypothetical scenario involving human and Sasquatch relations that may be remarkably similar to another potential scenario in early human pre-history.
During a correspondence I had with an academic friend of mine recently, the subject of purported “Sasquatch kidnappings” in relation to the idea of hybridization between humans and other hominid species was brought up, at which time I posed the following observations:
If Native American legends among bands like the Chehalis and other Northwestern tribes are to be taken any more than on count of the novelty of their existence as legends, the multitude of Indian tales involving kidnappings of women by Sasquatches might equally bring forth the notion of forced copulation between similar species (i.e. rape) which, in an evolutionary sense, could be viewed as characteristic of one (male) member of a species’ unsuccessful ability to find a mate and procreate; the psychological component linked to this act with modern humans is representative of the “ultimate intrusion,” which no doubt hints at the evolutionary paths to trust and nurture we also find in child-rearing and development. Ultimately, perhaps all of the “civilized” demeanor we now exhibit today, for which the rudiments have no doubt influenced trust-bearing in all cultures, with generous consideration of sexual attitudes that vary among them, could be rooted in the evolution of sexual interactions (this idea has a pronounced Freudian element to it, I think). But again, in an evolutionary sense, the act of forced copulation provides a very different picture: if we suspend our disbelief for long enough, stories of Bigfoot kidnappings (which were far more common among Native Americans) might suggest a species of humans or proto-humans whose gene pool is becoming so stressed due to limited numbers, that they may have sought forcible coupling based on instinct.
I know that this is pretty far out as a hypothetical, but the result, based on the genetic similarities between varieties of hominids which may have existed over the last several hundreds of thousands of years (and much earlier), might have led to occasional offspring that are effectively “hybrids.” As I understand, since mitochondrial DNA from a father’s sperm is destroyed at the time it fertilizes the female egg, there is really no way to trace forced copulation amidst, for instance, two species like Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons (in which case we might presume the male members of the Neanderthal group had been initiating these liaisons). Subsequent DNA studies about whether Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons may have interbred in this way are mixed, and hardly favorable, though a minority of cases suggest that interbreeding between the species in the way I’ve outlined above (and between two species with 99.5% genetic similarity) could have possibly occurred, but evidence suggests perhaps only a little more than 100 times over the course of thousands of years. Again, the problem with tracing the father’s mtDNA is partly the issue, but posed as a hypothetical scenario, it again also points to the likelihood of hybridization on count of forced copulation.
Return again to these old Native legends of “old Sasquatch men kidnapping Indian women,” and we have a very similar narrative that begins to emerge… if the stories are to be taken literally, which does, again, require some suspension of disbelief. But it is also representative of a theme which, in likelihood, has existed among hominid species for generations spanning thousands of years, and represents an integral component to understanding human evolution, and perhaps the evolution of other creatures that may have existed… or which may even still exist.
Note:For more on the possible hybridization of Cro-Magnons with Neanderthals, there is an interesting story (involving very mixed opinions) regarding this prehistoric skeleton, discovered on the Iberian Peninsula.

A student, D.X, had taken his parents camper out to the Dunes where could study quietly for his end of term exams. Taking a break from his studies, he strolled along the beach near Cap Blanc Nez. Topping a dune, he was surprised to see, at its base, a cube shaped object, about 3 meters per side and aluminum in color, sitting on a slender, black tripod landing gear. No other features on the object were apparent. The ground at the site was marshy and muddy. Standing next to the object were two human like beings a little over 4 ft tall, wearing one piece suits of a shiny, gray-white color, almost a metallic sheen to them; a slight fold or crease ran from the neck to the stomach. They wore tall narrow helmets on their heads with faceplates that showed about three quarters of their faces. Their eyes were very large, their noses long and thin. Their hands were covered by what appeared to be inflated mittens. The witness did not notice their feet. One was about ten meters to his right, the other to his left. The one on the right circled around the object and had no sooner rejoined the second when a third entity appeared. He was much taller than the other two, at least two meters in height (6’6), and he came from behind the object, around the left side, and stood near the first two. Unlike the smaller beings, he wore no helmet. His features were human, and he had long blond hair. One of the smaller beings then made sounds coming from deep within his throat, which seemed to have a hypnotic effect upon the witness. At that point, the witness is unable to recall what happened next, as he appears to have “blacked out.” When he came back to his senses, everything had disappeared. He was troubled about not being able to recall what had happened to him. He could find no traces of the object and the three beings at the site.

The witness (who requested anonymity) had left his home early on his way to work (he lived in a complex by the coast). The area was very due to power restrictions current at the time. As he drove down the lane along the coast he looked towards the sea which was only a silhouette and noticed what appeared to be the shapes of four men on the beach walking around. Curio…us he stopped the car and backed up to get a closer look at the group. He could now see that the figures were very tall and slender and appeared to be all dressed alike in some type of fluorescent diver’s suit. Three of the individuals were standing while the fourth was kneeled down on the sand right on the shore. The witness thought the three men were busy “burying” something in the sand and walked back and forth between the shoreline and their location. The witness looked at the clock and it said 6:10 a.m. He thought of approaching the men but suddenly it was already 06:30 a.m. The men were now gone and he could not explain what happened during the missing 20 minutes. He then proceeded to work and picked up a friend on his way. He told his friend what he had seen and suggested that he contacted the local National Border Guard who had a post on a nearby hill. They claimed they had not seen anything and dismiss the whole affair as smugglers.

Russian Scientist Claims That Around 200 YETIS are Living in Siberia
Professor claims scientific tests, such as DNA checks, prove hair samples from remote cave belonged to human-like mammal unknown to man
A row has erupted in Russia over a biological scientist’s claim that some 200 Yeti live in a large area of southern Siberia.
Professor Valentin Sapunov has infuriated academics with his assertion that scientific tests, including DNA checks, found that hair samples from a remote cave belonged to a human-like mammal unknown to man.
Now he has gone further by claiming a population of 200 Yeti exist in the forested Kemerovo, Khakassia and Altai regions of Siberia.
This number allows them to successfully reproduce, said the academic from the Russian State HydroMeteorological University.
‘He claims there have been no confirmed sightings of the Yeti because they have an acute sense of danger,’ reported the Siberian Times.
But other Russian experts are deeply unimpressed by Professor Sapunov’s theories, saying he has put his Big Foot in it with claims that there is DNA backing for the existence of the Yeti.
Far from finding the Abonimable Snowman, his scientific claims on the subject amount to abominable lies, Oleg Pugachev, director of the Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Science, told state-run newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
This institute was one of three where Professor Sapunov claimed the ‘Yeti hair’ – found a year ago – was tested.

Plastiglomeraat vormt zich wanneer plastic smelt en zich vermengt met lavasteen, koraal en zand. Geoloog Patricia Corcoran van de universiteit van Ontario en Charles Moore, kapitein van een oceanisch onderzoekschip, ontdekten de steen op een Hawaïaans strand. Ze publiceerden hun onderzoek in het vakblad Geological Society of America Today.
De wetenschappers vermoeden dat de stenen ontstonden toen kampeerders plastic voorwerpen als vorkjes, tandenborstels en touw verbrandden. Veel van die voorwerpen waren nog herkenbaar.
Overal ter wereld Omdat plastic zo alomtegenwoordig is en niet natuurlijk afbreekt, denken de geologen dat plastiglomeraat een permanente nieuwe aanwinst is op de lijst van gesteenten op Aarde. Corcoran is ervan overtuigd dat het nieuwe gesteente, nu het geïdentificeerd is, aan talloze kusten in de hele wereld ontdekt zal worden.
Volgens paleontoloog Jan Zalasiewicz van de universiteit van Leicester is de ontdekking de officiële inluiding van een nieuw tijdperk: het Antropoceen. Voor toekomstige generaties vormt het nieuwe gesteente een blijvend bewijs van onze vervuilende gewoonten. Sinds 1950 produceerden we bijna 6 miljard ton plastic, genoeg om de planeet mee te verpakken.
Albert Einstein staat wel bekend als de slimste mens die ooit op aarde zou hebben rondgelopen. Toch blijkt hij vooral ook een man van vlees en bloed te zijn geweest. Naar nu pas bekend is geworden heeft ooit een 23-jarige student van de meester een rekenfout in zijn werk ontdekt. Een fout die Einstein ook heeft toegegeven, zij het pas in tweede instantie.
De toen 23 jaar oude natuurkundestudent Herbert Salzer schreef het genie in 1938, vanwege zijn afstudeeropdracht, een brief, waarin hij de fout beschreef. Het zou gaan om fout in een vergelijkingsberekening.
Einstein schreef de student een zeer uitgebreide brief terug, waarin hij de fout verwierp. Hij ondertekende de brief met 'Met achting en respect, Albert Einstein.
Toegegeven Salzer leek zich bij het oordeel van Einstein neer te leggen, maar kreeg twee weken later tot zijn grote verrassing nog een brief van Einstein waarin hij de fout alsnog toegaf. Einstein gaf Salzer alle krediet voor het bemerken van zijn fout. Het is voor zover bekend de enige keer dat een collega een fout in het werk van Einstein aantoonde.
Salzer zou zich later ontwikkelen tot een zeer gewaardeerd natuurkundige en universitair docent met ruim 100 publicaties op zijn naam. Hij stierf in 2006 op 91-jarige leeftijd. De briefwisseling wordt deze week in New York geveild. Naar verwachting levert het wetenschappelijke schrijfwerk zo'n 50.000 dollar op.
Wetenschappers zijn er door seismische proeven in geslaagd om een gigantisch grote watermassa te detecteren in het binnenste van de aarde. Die ontdekking werpt mogelijk nieuw licht op de vraag hoe er ooit water op onze planeet is gekomen.
In de aardlaag, tussen ongeveer 410 en 660 kilometer diepte, bevindt zich voldoelde water om alle oceanen op de oppervlakte van de aarde drie keer te vullen. Het water bevindt zich tussen het aardoppervlak en de aardkern in een laag rotsachtig gesteente met de naam ringwoodiet. De bevindingen verschijnen vandaag in het vakblad Science.
De ontdekking van het water zou er op kunnen wijzen dat het water op aarde er niet is gekomen door ijskometen die op onze planeet insloegen na de vorming ervan, zoals tot nu toe algemeen werd gedacht. Het water zou er nu eerder van binnenuit gekomen zijn, en naar boven zijn gestuwd door vulkanische activiteit. Daardoor zouden de oceanen stapsgewijs zijn ontstaan. De ontdekking geeft ook meer duidelijkheid waarom de oceanen al miljoenen jaren ongeveer even groot blijven: het water in de aardlaag vormt een soort van buffer.
Als het water er niet zou zijn, zou het zich wel op de aardoppervlakte bevinden en zouden enkel de hoogste bergtoppen boven het water uitsteken, zo concluderen de onderzoekers nog.
It’s been many years since numerous scientific experts authenticated Billy Meier’s UFO photographs, films, sound recordings and metal samples. Nonetheless, many people have neither understood, nor accepted, the validity and significance of these findings.
Their skeptical cry for access to now long gone negatives, etc., has been used to try to cast doubt on the evidence, as well as the honesty and character of Meier and all concerned. Such accusations and demands were part of the subterfuge employed, usually by the most technically incompetent people, who were essentially claiming that if they themselves hadn’t personally analyzed the evidence it must be hoaxed. Of course this attitude invalidates accepting as true most of…human history, since none of us have personally witnessed, observed, or tested more than 99% of it.
This skeptical tactic has been parroted and echoed by every online armchair expert for whom the reality of the Meier case is simply too threatening to their belief systems.
Quite recently, Rhal Zahi provided new authentication of 63 of Meier’s most controversial photographs and five-minute video of the WCUFO, from 1981, using state-of-the-art technology. He also authenticated Meier’s first 8mm film of the so-called “Pendulum UFO”, from 1975, which reveals two instances of the craft “jumping”, i.e. actually appearing in two separate places within one frame of film!
Many people who’ve taken the time to examine and think through the evidence also realized for themselves that Meier’s 8mm film of the Hasenböl UFO with two lights flashing in broad daylight, from 1976, was certainly no clever, remote controlled model. Similarly, a film interview of Meier, by NTV (Nippon TV), showing Meier and the film director walking up to the tree immortalized in the famous “Sunlight UFO” photographs also taken at Hasenböl, easily settled the authenticity of that photographic evidence. Add to the amazing photographs the one of the cross in the sky, taken in India in 1964 with an old Kodak bellows camera, as well as UFO photos taken by other witnesses, including a Swiss skeptic, and mountains of other information and one may just recognize the genuineness and authenticity of the Meier case.
However, Rhal Zahi authenticated another one of the WCUFO photos that skeptics long accused of being just a model against a black curtain. Remembering that Meier took these 35mm photos in 1981, long before home computers, digital effects, PhotoShop, etc., and that he never drew any attention to them himself, this one simple result is not only amazing in itself but it can easily be duplicated by anyone, by…you, right at your own computer. No longer will the disingenuous cries for negatives of the original photos carry even the slightest weight or concern. After all, even if negatives were presented at this time, only a relatively few people would have the technical ability to authenticate them themselves, so once again we’d have to rely on outside expert analysis and opinion.
Now, in keeping with the theme of self-responsibility at the core of the Meier case, any and all of us who want to see the truth come alive before our very eyes, the truth that was hidden in plain sight for over 32 years, only have to do what Zahi himself did – put the photo (which you can grab off of this page) into PhotoShop and increase the brightness and contrast. You will find yourself looking down from above the WCUFO at a road next to a grassy path, etc.:
Only the most desperate, intellectually dishonest skeptics (am I repeating myself?) would be dwelling so deeply in denial as to not consider and admit that there is absolutely no likelihood that Meier somehow figured out, more than three decades ago, how to “trick” 21st century technology, that hadn’t been invented yet, into revealing that which wasn’t apparent on a 35mm 35mm film photograph.
While I maintain that the even “higher standard of proof” is in Meier’s voluminous, prophetically accurate, scientific information (of which you’ll find plenty on this blog as well as here) being able to authenticate Meier’s WCUFO photos yourself should be sufficient to end any doubts about their authenticity and Meier’s truthfulness, once and for all.
Of course, now that you know the truth about the most important true story in all of science and human history…what will you do about it?

Bonnybridge has become the UFO capital of the world with more than 300 sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects reported above the town every year. It is a small town in the heart of central Scotland. But Bonnybridge has earned its place in the unexplained history books along with Roswell, in New Mexico, and even the Bermuda Triangle. Councillor Billy Buchanan says so many residents come to him with concerns about what is happening in the town’s skies that he has appealed to three prime ministers – David Cameron, Tony Blair and John Major – to order an urgent investigation. As yet no official investigation we know of is underway. The Ministry of Defence say they are “satisfied that there is no evidence that the United Kingdom’s airspace might have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised foreign military activity.”
But mysterious sightings in the area known as the Falkirk Triangle, which branches from Bonnybridge to Stirling and Fife, continue. Everything from space ships landing to mysterious balls of light have been reported. Some unexplained sightings have even been caught on film. Publicity concerning the sightings started in 1992 when businessman James Walker said he noticed some strange lights in the sky while driving home. At first, he thought they were stars but was startled when he saw them move and assumed a triangle shape. Around the same time, the Sloggett family reported one of the most extraordinary sightings from the UFO hot spot. They claimed to have been walking towards Bonnybridge at around 7 pm on a clear March evening when they saw a circle of light ahead of them. They said the light appeared to land in a nearby field. The family continued on their journey, but say they were stopped by a football-sized blue light hovering above the road ahead of them. Later, Isabella Sloggett said: “My daughter Carole and I saw a UFO land right in front of us. A door opened and there was a howl-like sound. “I screamed and ran off terrified.” Since then, further UFO sightings from this alleged portal to another dimension have come thick and fast. Several people who live near Bonnybridge have separately filmed what appears to be strange white objects hovering in the sky. NOTE: The above image is a rendering
Een vrijgezellenfeestje aan de rand van een meer in de Amerikaanse staat New Mexico heeft geleid tot de vondst van een 10 miljoen jaar oud fossiel. De feestgangers stuitten op de 1,5 meter diep begraven schedel van een mammoet, compleet met slagtanden, in het Elephant Butte State Park op zo'n 250 kilometer van de stad Albuquerque.
Het fossiel van 450 kilo kwam aan het licht nadat een grote hoeveelheid water uit het meer was gepompt, waarmee delen van New Mexico en Texas konden worden geïrrigeerd. Het schoonmaken van de mammoetschedel zal ongeveer een half jaar gaan duren. Daarna kunnen de paleontologen een onderzoek beginnen. "Ik kom hier al 20 jaar, maar ik heb nog nooit zoiets gezien", aldus paleontoloog en curator Gary Morgan van het natuurkundig museum van New Mexico.
I am fascinated with artwork from the European Renaissance era that depict odd flying objects and other anomalies. There are many examples that were created throughout the continent.
One the most interesting objects, in my opinion, was a tapestry created in 1538 in the city of Bruges, Belgium, known as the Summer’s Triumph. It depicts the victorious ascension of a ruler to power. However, there is something far more interesting depicted in the tapestry, which would be easy to miss unless you were looking closely – multiple objects in the sky, which have the classical UFO shape that is popularized in the media.
The city of Bruges is the capital and the largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium in the northwest of the country.
If you look at the top of the tapestry, especially towards the left-hand side, it is possible to see a number of ‘hat shaped’ flying objects in black – that are not related to any religious depictions that are frequently seen in the sky in other medieval artworks.
Although their presence is baffling, some speculate they may have been added in the tapestry in order to connect the UFOs to the ruler as a symbol of divine intervention. If the people in that era associated flying saucers with divinity, it means they were seeing such objects in the sky and linking them to a ‘godly’ phenomena. Of course on the other hand there are those who have claimed that these unusual hat-shaped objects are simple strangely-shaped dark clouds.
The “Triumph of Summer”, is held at the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum on extended loan from the HypoVereinsbank UniCredit Bank AG. The museum has no other information regarding the tapestry’s history.
Another interesting piece by an Italian painter named Ventura Salimbeni is responsible for one of the most mysterious altar paintings in history. Disputa of the Eucharist a 16th-century painting also known as The Glorification of the Eucharist, is a three-part work. The bottom two parts are relatively benign, depicting a number of religious authorities and an altar. However, the top part shows the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and a dove depicting the Holy Ghost) looking upon them…and holding what seems to be a space satellite or antenna craft. The object is large and spherical, with a metallic finish, telescopic antennas, and strange lights. In fact, it somewhat resembles a Soviet Sputnik satellite.
Although UFO enthusiasts and ancient astronaut theorists have often claimed the Disputa as proof of extraterrestrial life (or perhaps time travel), experts have been quick to debunk such notions. According to them, the orb is a Sphaera Mundi, a globe-like representation of the universe that used to be common in religious art. The strange lights on the “satellite” are merely the sun and the moon, and its antennas are actually scepter wands that act as symbols of authority for the Father and the Son.
Speaking of spherical anomalies, this brings us to a bizarre discovery. A self propelled, seamless metallic orb was found by members of the Betz family on March 27, 1974, and rapidly became the object of fascination & controversy for scientists, military officials, ufologists and the general public as the story of this mystery sphere quickly spread through the international media.
The silvery sphere, about 20 centimeters (eight inches) in diameter, was completely smooth except for a strange, elongated triangle symbol. It was found while the family examined the damage of a strange fire that had decimated 88 acres of their woodland on marshy Fort George Island, which is located just east of Jacksonville, Florida. Initially thinking it might be a NASA or even a Soviet spy satellite, they eventually decided it was most likely just a souvenir. They decided to take it with them.
Two weeks later, one of the Betz’ children was strumming a guitar in the same room as the sphere. Suddenly, the sphere started reacting to his tunes, emitting a strange throbbing sound and a resonance that deeply disturbed the family’s dog. Soon, the Betz family found the orb had other strange properties. It could stop and change directions when pushed across the floor, eventually returning to the initial spot. It seemed to draw power from solar energy, becoming noticeably more active on bright days.
It seemed like something was controlling the sphere. It would occasionally emit low-frequency rattling and vibrations, like there was a motor running inside. It seemed to avoid falling and crashing at all costs, as if to protect something inside it. It even managed to completely defy the laws of gravity and climb up a slanted table to avoid falling.
The New York Times and the London Daily and other media outlets sent reporters to witness the miracle sphere, which repeated its tricks to countless people. Even scientists and representatives of the military were impressed, although the Betz family wouldn’t let them take the sphere for closer examination. However, the sphere soon started to exhibit strange behavior. Poltergeist–like activity started to occur. Doors started slamming shut at night and strange organ music would fill the house out of the blue.
Dr. J. Allen Hynek, a famed ufologist and astronomer at Northwestern University in Chicago, contacted the Betz family and asked to examine the sphere. Dr. Hynek was going to be in New Orleans, LA the following week for a meeting with the National Enquirer tabloid, which was establishing a $50,000 prize for definitive proof of aliens. Since Hynek and several other scientists on the Enquirer’s panel were all there, Terry Betz and his sister drove out from Florida to show them the ball in person.
Hynek’s 1972 book The UFO Experience: A Scientific Inquiry had made him perhaps the most popularly known ufologist of the day. But on the Betz sphere, his verdict was a disappointing one. According to a report in the St. Petersburg Independent:
Hynek says none of the five scientists now think the ball is anything but manmade. “None will go so far as to say it’s extra-terrestrial,” he said in an interview yesterday. “They would be putting their scientific reputations on the line.”
So what is it?
At this point in time, the best way to answer this question is to actually the examine the ball, using modern techniques. Unfortunately, there is no record of the ball, or of Terry Betz himself, from recent years. But those newspaper reports did ring bells with a few people.
The Palm Beach Post reported on April 18, 2012 that Lottie Robinson recognized the ball from the pictures, then retrieved it from the garage where it had sat for some 15 years. Technicians from the St. Regis Company paper mill identified it as a ball valve from some large pipes used in their factory, and that had been scrapped 15 years before. Somehow that ball had found its way from a scrap dealer to Mrs. Robinson’s son, and from there to her garage. It was very close, but not identical, in size and weight to the Betz sphere.
Robert Edwards, president of a Jacksonville, FL equipment supply company, was next to make an inquiry. He showed a UPI reporter a brand new stainless steel ball, manufactured by Bell & Howell in Bridgeport, CT. Edwards and the reporter uncrated it, weighed and measured it, and found that it was 8 inches across and weighed just over 21 pounds…exactly the same as the Betz sphere.
“I’m not saying that this thing didn’t come from outer space because I’ve never seen it. All I’m saying is that the physical description of it matches exactly the type of ball we have in stock.”
At a later date, a Navy metallurgist had identified the ball as being made of an alloy called stainless steel 431. According to the web site of a supplier of this alloy:
431 has been successfully used in a variety of aircraft and general industrial applications. These include fasteners, bolts, valve components and chemical equipment.
A for the amazing properties…moving by itself, rolling uphill, making organ music, and transmitting radio signals. Could it be, by chance, that this is just an ordinary piece of industrial machinery? Someone suggested to me several years ago that this sphere may actually be a mysterious ‘Foo Fighter’ UFO from WWII. It’s doubtful…but maybe the true identity of the sphere will surface one day.

The question is – how did a Romanian dictator wind up in Italy? It’s generally believed that Tepes died on the battlefield. There are researchers now who suspect that Tepes was taken prisoner, ransomed to his daughter, by then safe in Italy, and buried in a church in Naples.
Born in 1431, Tepes was part of a noble family that was itself part of the Order of the Dragon, which was engaged in fighting the expansion of the Ottoman Empire into Europe. Vlad’s father was nicknamed Dracul, meaning ‘Dragon’ so the young Vlad became Dracula, or ‘son of Dragon’.
Dracula disappeared in 1476 battle. While some sources have claimed that he died, the researchers claim he was in fact imprisoned and hauled away in chains by the Turks.
His daughter Maria was meanwhile brought to the Neapolitan court, whose ruling family was allied with her own family. She was adopted and eventually married to a Neapolitan nobleman.
Documents have proved that Maria in fact paid a ransom to the Turks for her father, who was then brought to Naples, the historians say.
A newly uncovered headstone in Naples’ Piazza Santa Maria La Nova, the same graveyard as Tepes’ daughter and son-in-law, could be Dracula’s final resting place.
Student Erika Stella, investigating the cloister of Santa Maria Nova in Naples for her thesis, discovered the grave – quite unlike the others surrounding it, and returned with historians who undertook months of research.
Medieval history scholar Raffaello Glinni said that the 16th century tomb is covered in images and symbols of the House of the Transylvanian “Carpathians,” not in keeping with the tomb of an Italian nobleman.
“When you look at the bas-relief sculptures the symbolism is obvious,” he told newspaper reporters.
“The dragon means Dracula and the two opposing sphinxes represent the city of Thebes also called Tepes. In these symbols, Dracula Tepes, the very name of the count is written,” he said.
Researchers have now applied for official permission to investigate the grave.

German court rules that dead workers have a right to paid holidays
Dead workers in Germany have a right to any annual leave which they’ve failed to claim at the time of their death, Europe’s top court ruled on Thursday. In a case brought by a widow from North Rhine-Westphalia, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled she was entitled to money from her dead husband’s employer for the holiday he had failed to claim.
The dead man, named only as Mr Bollacke, worked for the retailer K+K from August 1998 to November 2010, when he died. He had been seriously ill since 2009 and was unable to work for a long period of time. When he died he had 140.5 days of annual leave outstanding, worth €16,000. Mr Bollacke’s widow asked supermarket K+K for the money in lieu of the annual leave not taken by her husband.
But they turned her down, saying she couldn’t inherit her dead husband’s unclaimed holidays. In 2011 she took her case to the Higher Labour Court in Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia, which also rejected her claim. But she then appealed the court’s decision and the Hamm court referred the case to the ECJ in Luxembourg. In a judgment published on Thursday, the ECJ stressed the right to paid holidays was “particularly important”.
“The Court has previously held that where the employment relationship has terminated, the worker is entitled to an allowance in lieu in order to prevent all enjoyment of that right to leave being lost,” it said. Overruling German law, which states you lose your right to holidays when you die, the court said: “Receipt of financial compensation if the employment relationship ends by reason of the worker’s death ensures the effectiveness of the entitlement to leave.” It will now be up to the labour court in Hamm to make a decision on the case. – TheLocal

I’ll start off by apologizing to the people that told my friends and I to not use the board again. Last night being Friday the 13th as well as a full moon, we thought we may as well give it another go. My friend ‘J’ and I did it to start with. We got the entity that named itself ‘B’ and found out that ‘B’ is supposedly my ‘guardian’. We asked a lot of questions about this and this is what we found out:
Basically everyone has a single demon or entity that can see into their mind, this is how that specific demon can see into the human world. The ‘Z’ entity that I mentioned in my last post tries to latch itself onto people or boards. ‘Z’ and ‘B’ fought over possession of the board through most of the session. We were told that was ‘Z’ punishing each of our entity demons because ‘Z’ wanted access to us but couldn’t get it because of them. After a while ‘Z’ cut off our contact to any other entities and kept trying to trick us into saying versions of it’s name (Zozo, Zaza, Mnmn, Gaga), so we ended the session after that.
For those skeptical, I did try some things to test this. While talking to ‘B’, who can supposedly see into my mind, I kept my eyes closed and asked it questions that only I knew the answer to and let my friends read out the answers to me afterwards. I asked what my fathers name is and sure enough it spelled out his name. Earlier I asked what my middle name is and instead it spelled out my grandmothers name, which was weird. I’m not the kind of person to believe something blindly, so I tried to eliminate anything that could be messing with it. I did without my friends so that I knew it wasn’t them just messing with me. I mean it could have been a subconscious thing, but the test with my eyes closed kind of cancels that? I don’t know. When my friends ‘L’ and ‘M’ joined back in the entities ‘Z’ and ‘V’ (‘M’s ‘guardian’) were supposedly fighting over possession over the board and ‘M’s mind. ‘M’ claimed to be able to feel them fighting in her mind and got a bad headache from it. Book review: ‘Encounter in Rendlesham Forest’ a look at a UFO by Nick Pope
And so, another book on UFOs. Have we not yet reached the saturation point? Rehearsed all the possible pros and cons?
Nick Pope, the primary author of “Encounter in Rendlesham Forest,” insists that this case is different: It’s definitive. He’s wrong. But that doesn’t mean the book is without its charms, offering, perhaps, an answer to the question: Why more flying-saucer books?
The Rendlesham Forest incident — known in UFO circles as Britain’s Roswell — occurred in the days (and nights) after Christmas in 1980 in a wooded area of England between two military bases then occupied by the U.S. Air Force. Pope recounts the events briefly, covering the narrative in the first 90 pages. According to him, his co-authors, John Burroughs and Jim Penniston, both then with the Air Force, investigated mysterious lights in the forest. Burroughs was on patrol and had seen blue and red flashing lights. He and a superior drove out through the gate and saw a white light, too, which seemed to advance on them. They returned to the base.
Just after midnight, Penniston joined the two men, and they drove out again. Initially, they thought a small plane might have crashed. Instead, they and a few others who joined them came across something else altogether. In a small clearing, “there was a silent explosion of light.” In its aftermath, they could see “a small, metallic craft,” about nine feet high and nine feet across. “The craft was roughly triangular in shape” and either hovered or rested on a tripod. It was decorated with blue and white lights as well as heiroglyphic-like markings. Penniston approached the thing and touched it, and then it sped off at an “impossible” speed.
When the lights returned two nights later, deputy base commander Lt. Col. Charles Halt and a team that included Burroughs investigated. They didn’t see a craft, but Halt found what he thought was the original landing site and noted that nearby trees had been abraded. Measurements suggested that the radiation level was higher than that of the surroundings. Subsequently, the witnesses were debriefed by other members of the U.S. government, reports were sent up the chain of command, and British officials investigated but were unimpressed by what they saw.

The story leaked out over the coming years, becoming more urgent after the principals retired from the military and spoke more freely. Burroughs and Penniston both developed health problems that they traced back to those events in late December 1980 and the radiation to which they were exposed. The Department of Veterans Affairs, though, has seemed to block access to their medical records.
Hard evidence in support of the story is lacking. The gauge used to measure the radiation had settings too coarse to detect the small changes attributed to it — a shortcoming that Pope notes only evasively. There is no record of an unidentified craft being sighted by area radar. Penniston took photographs of the craft, but the film could not be developed. Halt made an audio tape of his investigation, but it is unremarkable. Pope gives no citations, so there is no way to know the provenance of the reports and memos he discusses.
Instead there are unwarranted conclusions and a welter of unrelated anecdotes. Most of one chapter is written by Burroughs and Penniston’s lawyer, who gives a cursory summary of attempts to obtain their medical records. The failure to release them provides all the evidence Pope needs to say that the documents must be classified. There is no conclusion as to what occurred on those winter nights almost 34 years ago. Penniston and Burroughs are of the opinion that a government is behind the event, using talk of UFOs as a cover. Halt thinks the craft came from outer space. Pope is more coy but seems to favor the extraterrestrial hypothesis.
The witnesses, military personnel though they were, turn out to be untrustworthy. The quotations in the book attributed to Halt show him to be something of a crank, insisting that in the debriefings witnesses were “subjected to mind control efforts using drugs and hypnosis by British and American authorities.” Penniston’s story has changed dramatically over the years; he now says that he spent 45 minutes in close communion with the craft and that, when he touched it, a binary code was downloaded directly into his brain. He remembered the transmission only after hypnosis.
Despite all these (very large) holes, the Rendlesham tale remains popular among those interested in UFOs — as Pope’s book shows, with repeated references to television documentaries and magazine stories. Which raises the question: Why?
“Encounter in Rendlesham Forest” is full of paranoia about the government — not all of it, or even most of it, unwarranted. Pope refers to the Iraq war (with its missing WMDs), drone strikes and NSA spying. He also reasonably worries that the U.S. government may be subcontracting the study of UFOs to private enterprise, thus shielding it from Freedom of Information Act requests.
Indeed, much of the story turns on Freedom of Information Act requests and how they made the investigation of the Rendlesham events possible by the Americans (the Brits not so much, at least until they had similar laws). Which points to why these stories fascinate so.
Governments are so large, and the handles we have on them so small, so slippery, that it is impossible to control the leviathan we have created. Pope himself worked for the British government — in a section investigating UFOs — and felt frustrated at his inability to turn others on to the importance of this matter. If even those inside the government cannot control it, what hope those who are only its subjects? Stories about flying saucers allow readers to contemplate these issues on a vast scale. Roswell, after all, occurred in 1947, but it didn’t become a cause celebre until after Watergate.
Carl Jung once famously said that stories about UFOs were a new myth — about lights in the sky. That’s not the whole story, not anymore. Flying saucers are also myths about the mightiness of the expanding states.

Ancient fossils discovered by bachelor party in New Mexico
(CBS) — There are plenty of crazy things that can happen at a bachelor party, but stumbling across ancient fossils may be a first.
A stag group made the surprising discovery at Elephant Butte Lake State Park, about 150 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“As we are cruising by we see a large tusk or what seems to be a large tusk coming out of the ground about a good three to four inches out,” Antonio Gradillas told CBS affiliate KRQE News 13.
Gradillas and his friends started digging and found what appeared to be the giant remains of a prehistoric elephant skull.
They thought it was a woolly mammoth and sent pictures of it to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque.
Scientists there say it looked like a Stegomastodon, a 9-foot tall, 13,000 pound, prehistoric pachyderm that roamed New Mexico millions of years ago.
“He advised us that it may not be a woolly mammoth, it’s the wrong era and weren’t conducive to this area. He says it’s more the Ice Age era, 40 to 60 million years old, and chances are good it’s a mastodon,” Gradillas said.
The area has been blocked off so a small team of paleontologists can work on excavating the fossil.
“(The skull) looks virtually 100 percent complete, a very important scientific discovery that we may put on public display,” said Gary Morgan, curator of paleontology at the museum.
He says he has not seen anything like this in his 30-year career and will lead the expedition to the remains, located in a remote area ten miles north of a small city called Truth or Consequences.
Excavation could take up to six hours and requires a front-end loader. The skull may weigh up to 1,000 pound, given the fact it will be filled with sand.

A herpes virus that infects humans originated in chimpanzees before it jumped into our early human ancestors, according to a new study.
Researchers found that herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) infected hominids before their evolutionary split from chimpanzees 6 million years ago, whereas herpes simplex 2 (HSV-2) was transferred from ancient chimpanzees to human ancestors such as Homo erectus about 1.6 million years ago, long before the rise of early modern humans about 200,000 years ago.

After decades of searching scientists have discovered that a vast reservoir of water, enough to fill the Earth’s oceans three times over, may be trapped hundreds of miles beneath the surface, potentially transforming our understanding of how the planet was formed.
The water is locked up in a mineral called ringwoodite about 660km (400 miles) beneath the crust of the Earth, researchers say. Geophysicist Steve Jacobsen from Northwestern University in the US co-authored the study published in the journal Science and said the discovery suggested Earth’s water may have come from within, driven to the surface by geological activity, rather than being deposited by icy comets hitting the forming planet as held by the prevailing theories.
“Geological processes on the Earth’s surface, such as earthquakes or erupting volcanoes, are an expression of what is going on inside the Earth, out of our sight,” Jacobsen said.
“I think we are finally seeing evidence for a whole-Earth water cycle, which may help explain the vast amount of liquid water on the surface of our habitable planet. Scientists have been looking for this missing deep water for decades.”
Jacobsen and his colleagues are the first to provide direct evidence that there may be water in an area of the Earth’s mantle known as the transition zone. They based their findings on a study of a vast underground region extending across most of the interior of the US.
Ringwoodite acts like a sponge due to a crystal structure that makes it attract hydrogen and trap water.
If just 1% of the weight of mantle rock located in the transition zone was water it would be equivalent to nearly three times the amount of water in our oceans, Jacobsen said.
The study used data from the USArray, a network of seismometers across the US that measure the vibrations of earthquakes, combined with Jacobsen’s lab experiments on rocks simulating the high pressures found more than 600km underground.
It produced evidence that melting and movement of rock in the transition zone – hundreds of kilometres down, between the upper and lower mantles – led to a process where water could become fused and trapped in the rock.
The discovery is remarkable because most melting in the mantle was previously thought to occur at a much shallower distance, about 80km below the Earth’s surface.
Jacobsen told the New Scientist that the hidden water might also act as a buffer for the oceans on the surface, explaining why they have stayed the same size for millions of years. “If [the stored water] wasn’t there, it would be on the surface of the Earth, and mountaintops would be the only land poking out,” he said.

Marcus Pohanka van luchtverkeersleiding Austro Control beschrijft de incidenten op 5 juni en afgelopen dinsdag als ‘ongekend’. Hij liet weten dat de hoogte, locatie, identiteit en andere informatie van de vliegtuigen plotseling 25 minuten van de radar verdwenen. Een militaire analyse die in handen is van de Oostenrijkse krant Kurier sprak van een ‘rampzalige gebeurtenis’.
Experts zijn ervan overtuigd dat bij de betrokken vliegtuigen ook meerdere passagiersvluchten zaten, gezien de hoogte waarop de toestellen vlogen. Eerste geruchten beweren dat naast Oostenrijk ook vliegtuigen boven München en Karlsruhe in Duitsland en Praag in Tsjechië van de radar zijn verdwenen.
“Er zijn geen gewonden gevallen en niemand was op enig moment in gevaar,” aldus de officiële instanties. Het is de vraag hoe het mogelijk is dat vliegtuigen in de huidige hoogtechnologische wereld zomaar van de radar kunnen verdwijnen. Het voorval doet terugdenken aan de vlucht van Malaysia Airlines die op 8 maart van de radar verdween en nooit is teruggevonden.

De radars werden ‘gestoord door een externe bron’. Door de verstoring kwam belangrijke vluchtinformatie niet binnen. Welke vliegmaatschappijen en vliegtuigen betrokken waren bij het voorval wilde Pohanka niet zeggen. Wel gaf hij aan dat zoiets nog nooit eerder is gebeurd.
De oorzaak van het fenomeen is niet bekend. Er werd aanvankelijk gedacht aan een storing door een NAVO-oefening in Hongarije, maar die werd op de tijdstippen in kwestie niet gehouden.
Op het moment dat de vluchten van de radar verdwenen werden extra luchtverkeersleiders ingezet en trof men noodmaatregelen. De luchtverkeersleiders moesten de piloten te spreken krijgen en ook werden aanvliegroutes verbreed.
