Taking a look back at UFOs reported in 2014, there are some big surprises as to which states rise to the top of the list.

The data I am using for this report comes from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). It is the largest civilian UFO investigation organization in the country. They even received recognition from the Guinness Book of Worlds Records for it this year. They have members and/or certified field investigators in every state in the country, and even a few in other countries as well.

MUFON received some added attention this year with their own TV show on the History Channel titled Hangar 1.

In 2014 MUFON received 8,860 reports from around the world, but mostly in the U.S. Of those reports 7,048 were from the United States. This number is up from 7,646 reports worldwide last year, with 6,457 of those reports from the U.S.

Does this mean there are more UFOs buzzing around the sky? Hard to say. It could just mean that more people are reporting them to MUFON because of their TV show.

As for the top states reporting UFO sightings, as usual, they jive pretty well with the states with the most population. So you have California and Texas taking the two top spots. Looking at the data this way can be deceptive, so I like to match the data up with the populations and determine who is getting the most number of sightings per person. Well, actually per 100,000 people in this case. This is how you find the true hot spots.

So where were the UFOs in 2014? Surprisingly, Oregon takes the top spot for the most reported UFOs per population. They were number 19 last year. I broke the numbers down per month for Oregon to see if maybe they had a UFO armada fly by. They had 28 reports in January, but September had 21, so no one event seems to be responsible.

Another reason this is so shocking is that when I look in our archives of Oregon UFO sightings, we only reported one in November. It does not appear the media in Oregon, or anywhere else, picked up on any others. I’ll have to delve into this further and get back to you with what I find.

New Hampshire takes the number 2 spot. Last year they were 5th, so not too much of a surprise. We also have New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado at the top of the list, as usual. There seem to be a lot of sightings in the southwestern U.S. It could be because the desert skies are clear more often, or the fact that there are so many large secluded Air Force bases, like Area 51.

Although I have embedded the top 20 here, you can find the full list at the end of this story. By the way, if your state is not as high on the list as you would like, don’t get mad at me. I just crunched the numbers. Inevitably, every year someone gets mad that their state is not visited by UFOs as much as they think it is.

I also crunched the numbers for the shapes of UFOs being reported. Again, it is pretty typical. The top shape is a sphere. Disc shaped UFOs are the sixth most reported – under “other” and before “unknown.” So “flying saucers” are not as popular as they once might have been. However, number four on the list is triangular shaped. It is interesting to note that so many reports are of objects or lights that are triangular in shape. There were several interesting triangular shaped lights caught on video last year.

When it comes to foreign countries, the top 10 includes a lot of English speaking countries and nearby neighbors. MUFON does a lot of international outreach, especially with Canada and Mexico. Their Director of International Affairs is a Spanish speaker. BTW, he will be speaking at the 2015 International UFO Congress next month.

So there you have it. This is where the UFOs were in 2014. These numbers may frighten you, or make you excited for a possible diplomatic exchange with an intergalactic space fairing cruise ship. Let us know what you think below.

Eight potentially habitable alien worlds discovered

NASA’s Kepler space telescope hit a major milestone on Tuesday, January 6. It was announced at the annual winter meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Seattle that Kepler has now identified more than 1,000 exoplanets and more than 4,000 planet candidates.

Kepler began its planet-hunting mission in 2009. And, although that initial mission ended in mid-2013 after two of spacecraft’s four reaction wheels failed, eliminating the ability of the telescope to maintain positioning, scientists are still combing through the significant pile of data collected by Kepler.

Scientists from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics analyzing Kepler’s data recently discovered eight potentially habitable alien planets. The Telegraph explains that “The new worlds double the number of small exo-planets believed to be circling their stars in the ‘Goldilocks zone’ – neither too hot, nor too cold, where water would not evaporate or freeze.” Dr. Guillermo Torresthe, the study’s lead scientist, explains, “Most of these planets have a good chance of being rocky, like Earth.”

The Telegraph points out that, of these eight planets that could potentially sustain life as we know it,  the two most like Earth, Kepler-438b and Kepler-442b, “orbit red dwarf stars that are smaller and cooler than the Sun.”

Study co-author, Dr. David Kipping, cautiously explains, “We don’t know for sure whether any of the planets in our sample are truly habitable. All we can say is that they’re promising candidates.”

The team’s research about these planets will be published in the Astrophysical Journal.

The premature end of Kepler’s primary mission was an unfortunate blow to the hunt for alien worlds. But, fortunately, the spacecraft has successfully been repurposed. As Space.com explains, “In May 2014, NASA approved a new two-year mission extension called K2 for the space observatory, during which a compromised Kepler continues to hunt for exoplanets but also observes other cosmic objects and phenomena, including supernova explosions and star clusters.”

This footage shows a strange disc-shaped object flying through the sky above the Australian capital Canberra.

The suspected UFO was filmed from a plane as it sped past the clouds.

The video was shot a few years ago but has only now been released.

The footage shows the strange-looking object speeding through the skies from left to right before flying under the plane and out of picture.

The video was filmed by a passenger on the aircraft.

News of the sighting comes after a mysterious ball of light was seen streaking across the night sky over California, sparking theories that it could be a UFO.

UFO mania: Scientist – We Are Aliens On Our Own Planet

Dr. Silver says our physiology suggests we evolved on a planet with lower gravity.

“Mankind is supposedly the most highly developed species on the planet, yet is surprisingly unsuited and ill-equipped for Earth’s environment: harmed by sunlight, a strong dislike for naturally occurring foods, ridiculously high rates of chronic disease, and more, “Dr. Silver said in an interview with Yahoo news.

“The Earth approximately meets our needs as a species, but perhaps not as strongly as whoever brought us here initially thought,” Silver said in an interview with Yahoo news.

“Lizards can sunbathe for as long as they like – and many of them do.

We can just about get away with it for a week or two. But day after day in the sun? Forget it.

You might as well just lie down on the freeway and wait for a bus to hit you.”

We are dazzled by the sun, which is also odd, says Silver – most animals are not.

Dr. Silver claims that some chronic illnesses that plague the human race – such as bad backs – could be a sign we evolved on a world with lower gravity.

Silver points to other unique human traits – such as the fact that babies’ heads are so large that women have trouble giving birth – in earlier eras, this was often fatal for mother, child or both.

“No other truly native species on this planet has this problem,” he says. Dr. Silver also points out to the “extra” 223 genes in human beings, which are not found in any other species, and to the lack of a fossil “missing link”.

Dr. Silver also claims that the human race has defects that mark us out as being possibly “not of this world”.

“We are all chronically ill,” says Dr. Silver. “Indeed, if you can find a single person who is 100% fit and healthy and not suffering from some (perhaps hidden or unstated) condition or disorder (there’s an extensive list in the book) I would be extremely surprised – I have not been able to find anyone.”

60 Billion Habitable Planets in the Milky Way Alone? Astronomers say Yes!

A new study suggests that the number of habitable exoplanets within the Milky Way alone may reach 60 billion.

Previous research performed by a team at Harvard University suggested that there is one Earth-sized planet in the habitable zone of each red dwarf star. But researchers at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University have now extended the habitable zone and doubled this estimate.

The research team, lead by Dr. Jun Yang considered one more variable in their calculations: cloud cover. Most exoplanets are tidally locked to their host stars – one hemisphere continually faces the star, while one continuously faces away. These tidally locked planets have a permanent dayside and a permanent nightside.

One would expect the temperature gradient between the two to be very high, as the dayside is continuously receiving stellar flux, while the nightside is always in darkness. Computer simulations that take into account cloud cover show that this is not the case.

The dayside is covered by clouds, which lead to a “stabilizing cloud feedback” on climate.  It has a higher cloud albedo (more light is reflected off the clouds) and a lower greenhouse effect. The presence of clouds actually causes the dayside to be much cooler than expected.

“Tidally locked planets have low enough surface temperatures to be habitable,” explains Jang in his recently published paper. Cloud cover is so effective it even extends the habitable zone to twice the stellar flux. Planets twice as close to their host star are still cool enough to be habitable.

But these new statistics do not apply to just a few stars. Red dwarfs “represent about ¾ of the stars in the galaxy, so it applies to a huge number of planets,” Dr. Abbot, co-author on the paper, told Universe Today. It doubles the number of planets previously thought habitable throughout the entire galaxy.

Not only is the habitable zone around red dwarfs much larger, red dwarfs also live for much longer periods of time. In fact, the Universe is not old enough for any of these long-living stars to have died yet. This gives life the amount of time necessary to form. After all, it took human beings 4.5 billions years to appear on Earth.

Another study we reported on earlier also revised and extrapolated the habitable zone around red dwarf stars.

Future observations will verify this model by measuring the cloud temperatures. On the dayside, we will only be able to see the high cool clouds. A planet resembling this model will therefore look very cold on the dayside. In fact, “a planet that does show the cloud feedback will look hotter on the nightside than the dayside,” explains Abbot.

This effect will be testable with the James Webb Space Telescope.  All in all, the Milky Way is likely to be teeming with life.

The results will be published in Astrophysical Journal Letters (preprint available here).

Man discovers ancient tunnel leading to Egypt's Great Pyramid under his House! |UFO Sightings...

An Egyptian citizen, identified as "Nagy" by Arabic news site Ahram.org, was illegally digging in his backyard when he found a tunnel leading to the Pyramid of Khufu. The pyramid, nicknamed the Great Pyramid, is the oldest and largest of the three Giza Pyramids.

Nagy, a resident of the El Haraneya village, near the Giza Plateau, dug 33 feet beneath his house before he found the corridor, made from stone blocks. Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities sent archaeologists to the scene, and a committee confirmed the passage to be the pyramid's legendary causeway.

Archaeologists have searched for decades for the passage to the pyramid. The causeway is mentioned in the Histories by the Greek Herodotus, who claims to have visited it in the fifth century B.C.E. Herodotus wrote that the passage was enclosed and covered in reliefs, but before Nagy's excavation, only small remnants of the causeway had been found.

The Khufu pyramid complex is known to have connected to an undiscovered temple near the Nile River. Thanks to the new discovery, archaeologists believe the temple may be buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman.

UFO mania: Military Eyewitness Captures 'Transparent UFO' On Night Vision

I was looking through [night vision] goggles and noticed a 'plane' coming toward me from the north, heading south. It was relatively low, 5,000 feet or a little less. I'm pretty good at estimating distances, I'm an experienced skydiver and long-distance shooter. I thought it was a little weird that I wasn't hearing it coming toward me, so I started recording on the PVS-14 [night vision monocular].

As I'm watching it, I notice that as it's passing stars, I could see stars through the craft! I saw stars through the 'fuselage' of the craft! Later, I confirmed this when I reviewed the video.

The craft was in the shape of a triangle. There were two lights at the rear of the vehicle, circular, with a blinking light, also circular, almost between them, just a little above the two rear lights. The light in front was shaped like a triangle itself, with a small, round light right behind it. So all together: five lights. This thing was low and slow and silent!!

The last weird thing that I noticed was that, when I took the goggles down for a second to get a bearing as to where it was in the sky, I couldn't see any of the lights, not the fixed lights, not the single blinking light. I couldn't see it without night vision goggles.

The following article was published in the Toppenish Review (Toppenish, WA) on Jan. 26, 1977. For the time, the amount of UFO / extraterrestrial information reported in this piece was somewhat remarkable for print or on-air media. Please note that In Search of... was a television series that had started broadcasting April 1977...considered by many to be the pioneer of mysterious phenomena television:

Martha Cantu of Harrah said if her son ever tells her again to "come and look," she'll be sure to do it.

Last Wednesday when her agitated nine-year-old son Jose woke his mother up at about 6:30 a.m. asking her to explain the little "man" he saw outside. She discounted his story and settled down to catch up on the sleep she'd lost the night before with a fussy baby.

Jose, who had been in the middle of preparing his breakfast, wasn't put off so easily.

He went outside to check for himself — and came back with an amazing story.

He told his mother he had seen two greenish creatures about three feet tall, who rotated on a base instead of having feet, and two "steely" crafts in which 2 other creatures were sitting. (Jose later produced a drawing)

He claimed that one craft rested in the back yard and the other on a flat section of the roof of the house. He told her he had hidden behind a washing machine stored outside next to a shed.

From that vantage point, he said he saw the two creatures join the other two in the crafts. He added that the crafts were brilliantly lighted inside, had "straight stairs" (much like a ramp) and a door that opened in "two parts, like a cross" to reveal the interior which contained two chairs with very tail bases. Jose said the craft in the yard rose from the ground and disappeared into something that resembled a cloud, steam or smoke.

When she heard the story, Jose's mother did what any mother might do in the same circumstances. She sent him to school.

At the Harrah Grade School, Jose repeated the story to Diane Gomez, an aide. "Jose is a serious boy. He's not one that tells stories or lies. What he told me, I took very seriously," Gomez said.

At 10:10, recess time, Gomez and another aide accompanied Jose to his home. There he showed them the places where he said the two creatures had been standing. In one location, where Jose said one creature had rotated on his base, Gomez said she saw two round marks in the gravel. At another place, where the creatures allegedly stood, there were two sets of three indentations.

After Mrs. Cantu spoke to the teacher's aides and they had returned to school with Jose, she called her neighbor, Irene Sanchez, to come to her home. Sanchez said they examined the back yard and found in the long grass a circular impression about 10 feet in diameter in which the grass in the middle was whirled up, and also observed the marks the aides had seen. The circle was easily visible from the window of the house next door, Gomez said, and added that her brother, who lives there, had seen it from that distance. The circle was still clearly visible when Mr. Cantu arrived home that evening from work, he said.

On Thursday afternoon, when Bill Vogel of Toppenish and David Akers of Seattle, who is affiliated with the Center for UFO Studies, visited the Cantu home, the perfectly shaped circle and "footsteps" were still discernible. Akers examined the area with a Geiger counter and got no reaction.

On Saturday when this reporter visited the Cantu home only one set of "foot" marks could still be seen and only a faint trace of the circle remained.

Because the Cantu family is more at home with the Spanish language, this reporter took along a skeptical translator. After he questioned Jose, who answered his questions seriously and respectfully but asked to be allowed to return to his play, the skeptic concluded that "I believe he saw what he said he saw."

Vogel said he and Akers thought that Jose had "definitely" had an experience with a UFO.

If Jose did, he is in good company.

Barbara Brost, co-owner with her husband Earl of the Huba Huba Cafe in Toppenish, had a similar experience 20 years ago in southern Idaho on a ranch east of Blackfoot.

On a summer morning — about 6 a.m. — Barbara and her uncle were saddling horses and, as they left the barn by a rear door, they spotted an object "greyish white and as big as a boxcar" about half a mile away. Stunned, they watched it for about a minute. Barbara's aunt and Earl rushed from the house when the two called to them, but Earl was too late to see the cigar-shaped object which seemed to lift from the ground with a noise "like the transference of air," Barbara said. It disappeared so rapidly she couldn't tell which way it went, she said.

"When I see those rockets lift off now, on t.v., I just say to myself 'this thing was something else!'"

Another Toppenish resident, a man who prefers not to be identified, made a similar sighting eight years ago over a cornfield in Toppenish. The object that he, his wife, son and daughter saw from a distance of a quarter of a mile or less from their home was "not large. It was huge."

When asked to equate it to the size of a boxcar, he estimated it would be the length of three such train cars. He has described the object, which was off the ground and periodically beaming a light so brilliant that he was unable to look at it without squinting, to a Boeing employee who did his best to convince him that he had not seen the object and, if he had, that it was a helicopter. "I know what I saw," was his answer to that.

At the time he had a loaded Polaroid camera in his home but didn't even think of it, he said. The incident raised the "hair on the back of my neck," he said.

A more recent sighting happened in the late fall of 1958 or 1959, about 9 p.m. when Toppenish resident Ron Gardner was living in a rural area.

Gardner was about 14 years old at the time. He said he was watching television in the family's long and narrow living room with his back to a picture window in the room - A brilliant, bluish-violet light filled the room, he said. At first he thought it was "an electric arc light."

Turning to the window he saw the yard bathed in the purplish light and an object passing about 10 feet from the window.

The object, he said, was off the ground about three feet, was about seven feet high "tapering to real thin at the bottom," was engulfed in the light and the last four foot of "whatever it was" was disappearing behind a building.

Gardner said his father accused him of watching too many Flash Gordon pictures and he never talked about it very much to anyone but "I know what I saw and I've never seen anything like it since."

Vogel, who seems to be the man in Toppenish to whom all the UFO reports are given, said that there has been many reports of brilliant lights over the Harrah area in the past six to eight months.

He said reports of a bright light over Harrah were made by many CBers the Tuesday night before Jose Cantu claimed to have seen the men and crafts.

A bright light has also been spotted over Toppenish Ridge by Mrs. Stan Johnson of Toppenish, who was Toppenish's Woman of the Year three years ago. She shared the experience with a friend, Judi Farquharson of Toppenish. They reported the lights to the Toppenish Police, who notified Vogel, who watched the light until it disappeared over Union Gap.

The Johnsons, who are area farmers, have seen the light often—and are still trying to explain how three holes, about four feet deep and six feet wide, appeared all in a row in a field in which they were growing sugar beets just south of Harrah.

Those who have seen the lights and mysterious objects all agree that they "know what they saw" but they aren't betting on convincing anyone else of it. - Toppenish Review (Toppenish, WA), Jan. 26, 1977

First thoughts were that it might be a helicopter, or perhaps even a large drone but both of those seem a little odd considering it is quite literally, a ball of light.

Time Capsule Placed By Paul Revere And Samuel Adams Opened

BOSTON (AP) — Early residents of Boston valued a robust press as much as their history and currency if the contents of a time capsule dating back to the years just after the Revolutionary War are any guide.

When conservators at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston gingerly removed items from the box Tuesday, they found five tightly folded newspapers, a medal depicting George Washington, a silver plaque, two dozen coins, including one dating to 1655, and the seal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

While some of the coins appeared corroded, other items were in good condition and fingerprints could be seen on the silver plaque.

The capsule was embedded in a cornerstone of the Massachusetts Statehouse when construction began in 1795. It was placed there by Revolutionary era luminaries including Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, governor of Massachusetts at the time.

The contents were shifted to what was believed to be a copper box in 1855 and placed back into the foundation of Statehouse. The box remained there until it was rediscovered last year during an ongoing water filtration project at the building. The box was actually brass, according to conservators.

The oldest coin in the box was a 1652 "Pine Tree Schilling," made at a time when the colony didn't have royal authority to create its own currency. Pine trees were a valuable commodity at the time. The trees were used as ship masts.

Michael Comeau, executive director of the Massachusetts Archives and Commonwealth Museum, said he has seen the coins offered for as much at $75,000, although given the context of this particular coin and the association with Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, the value would likely be much higher.

The newspapers were folded in such a way that the names of the publications weren't always visible, but one might have been a copy of the Boston Evening Traveller — a newspaper operation that was eventually absorbed into the current Boston Herald.

A portion of one of the papers that was visible showed a listing of the arrivals of whalers from various ports to Boston. Conservators didn't try to unfold the papers.

Pam Hatchfield, the head of objects conservation for the museum, removed each item using a slew of tools including her grandfather's dental tool. Hatchfield said the paper in the box was in "amazingly good condition."

Massachusetts state Secretary William Galvin said he expects the items will be on display at the museum for a period of time, but that eventually they will again be returned to the foundation to be discovered by a future generation of Bay State residents.

Galvin said he didn't know if modern items might be added to the foundation.

Comeau said the objects in the box are a bridge back in time.

Unusual Metal Recovered from Ancient Greek Shipwreck

GELA, SICILY—Thirty-nine ingots of cast metal have been recovered from a ship that sank 2,600 years ago off the southern coast of Sicily. “The wreck dates to the first half of the sixth century. It was found about 1,000 feet from Gela’s coast at a depth of ten feet,” Sicily’s superintendent of the Sea Office told Discovery News. The metal is being called orichalcum, a legendary metal that the fourth-century B.C. Greek philosopher Plato attributed to the mythical island of Atlantis. “Nothing similar has ever been found. Sisters Charged With Murder Of Brother

In an unthinkable homicide case, a Florida teen and her younger sister have been charged in the shooting death of their older brother.

"Anytime you come on scene with something this horrific, where you have juveniles or children involved, it's pretty unsettling, even to seasoned law enforcement and deputies," Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter said at a Tuesday press conference.

The siblings, identified as Misty "Ariel" Renee Kornegay, 15, and Nicole Kornegay, 11, both face charges of premeditated murder. The girl's parents, Keith Kornegay, 37 and Misty Kornegay, 33, are facing charges of child neglect, police said.

According to Columbia County Sheriff's spokesman Murray Smith, the investigation into the case began Monday night. Police in White Springs, a small town 70 miles northwest of Jacksonville, learned that the girls had run away from home and were spotted at a nearby Dollar General store.

When approached by police, the sisters "informed [an officer] of a shooting at their residence," Smith said.

Sheriff's office deputies were dispatched to the Kornegay's White Springs home, whereupon they found the body of the girl's 16-year-old brother, Damien Kornegay, sprawled out on the living room floor. He had been shot one time and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that earlier in the evening the 15-year-old sister of the deceased retrieved a handgun from their parents' bedroom and used it to shoot her brother," said Smith.

Nicole Kornegay's role in the shooting remains unclear. Smith would only say that she "assisted her 15-year-old sister" in the commission of the crime.

The Huffington Post normally does not identify minors charged in connection with a crime, but both girls have been widely identified in news coverage, and their names have been released by the sheriff's office.

Bayoubuzz.com reported Ariel Kornegay told police that her brother beat her up the day of the shooting. Authorities have yet to officially comment on a possible motive.

According to News4jax.com, police had been called to the Kornegay residence in 2010, in regard to a report of "inappropriate behavior" that had allegedly involved Damien and Ariel Kornegay. Details of that alleged incident remain unclear and no charges were filed, the news station reported.

Keith and Misty Kornegay's 3-year-old child, who was found alone in the home upon the discovery of Damien's body, has been placed in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The children's parents were reportedly out of town at the time of the shooting. The neglect charges were filed against them for "failing to properly supervise the children," Smith said.

Ariel and Nicole Kornegay are being held without bond in the Columbia County Detention Facility. Both girls are expected to make their first court appearance sometime Wednesday.

UFO crashing releases orb over Southern California – January 2015

This interesting video of something that looks like a crashing UFO (notice the orb leaving the object moving off in the opposite direction) was filmed over southern California. This was uploaded on 5th January 2014.

Witness report: I was driving home after work when this UFO or whatever you call it caught my eye. I pulled over in front of somebody’s house to film it. I would have got a better shot but I didn’t want to jump these peoples fence. Anyway I don’t know what the hell to make of it. Couldn’t have been a plane cause there was no noise. And I never heard a crash after either. The Orb thing flew straight up into the sky and disappeared. Sorry I didn’t film that. I didn’t know what to focus my attention on.

Two UFOs flying over Corte Madera, California 3-Jan-2014

Here’s a new video of a two bright objects hovering in the sky above Corte Madera, a town in Marin County, California. This was filmed on 3rd January 2014.

Witness report: I was on my way home from work. I noticed two very bright objects in the sky to the left of my direct sight. I was on the phone with my father at the time, and I told him I saw something strange and I had to call him back. The reason these objects looked so peculiar, was because they were on fire. Red/orange and glowing bright. They looked circular, almost like two orbs on fire. I was in shock because I had never seen anything like these objects in the sky before. I pulled over to the side of the road, and started taking a video with my iPhone. As the objects steadily moved closer to me (above me), I got really nervous and jumped back into my car and sped home. I called the police department in my town; I was on the phone with dispatch, explaining what I had seen, and how freaked out I was. I lost sight of the objects as I drove up the hill to my house. The dispatcher told me to go back and see if I could still see the objects. When I drove back down my hill, there was only one hovering. It appeared to be further in the distance than when I had last seen it. The woman on the other line told
Me she would have an officer come out and “investigate”. The object being so far away at this point, made me feel a bit better, and I ended my conversation with the police department’s dispatcher. I then turned around back up my hill, and arrived safely at my residence. About 45 minutes later, I called the police department back, and asked if the officer had come to a conclusion about what it was that was floating in the sky. She told me they were unable to identify the object.

Lake Tiorati UFO Sighting In 1966

A week before Christmas in 1966, then 23-year old Vincent and two buddies went to a winter fishing when they spotted something unusual in the sky. In a temperate winter weather in December, they were enjoying fishing in the area along the Hudson River, estimated to be 40 miles north of New York City.

In their eastern side was the Indian Point Nuclear Power Station, and Harriman State Park in their western position. While enjoying their fishing, they noticed something unusual in the sky near Lake Tiorati and Harriman forests.

Vincent describes the aerial object as bronze in color and moving without noise. He adds that the size was around 6 meters in diameter.

Vincent managed to take four pictures of the strange flying object that night. Later, the Project Blue Book representatives from U.S. Air Force investigated the UFO sighting report and quickly considered the sighting photos as part of a hoax.

The National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) also conducted a study about the sighting by examining the photos and interviewing the three witnesses. Investigators from NICAP found no trace of any hoax.
